So how would this work? I haven't given much thought to it tbh.
You know how ectoplasm is toxic to living creatures? And Amity park is filled with ambient ectoplasm? And also there's an active ghost portal spewing ectoplasm fresh from the zone 24/7??
I think that would be a solid reason for the slow death of pretty much everyone there. Everyone except Danny. Why? Because he isn't dead he only half died and then he came back.
So the ectoplasm does nothing harmful to him. His ghost side ensures that. But that isn't the case for everyone else.
For everyone else, Amity Park was normal one second and then,,,,not. Malevolent ghosts started appearing, a ghost superhero too, the sky was this faint shade of green, everything had this almost unnoticeable emerald green tinge. It gets harder and harder to breathe as the weeks pass by.
And they don't notice.
They used to, there used to be shouts of fear, or excitement (from caspar high students), gasps of surprise, some kind of reaction everytime Danny flew by, chasing yet another ghost. But not anymore.
Most of them didn't speak anymore, choosing to lie stiff and motionless, always in the same spot. They stared ahead, glassy eyed like they couldn't see him. Maybe they couldn't. He doesn't know.
But there are others who can. Others who aren't frozen still, who talk and scream and hiss and growl something feral and vengeful. He doesn't like them very much. Maybe it was something he did? The wraith woman with the hazmat suit and guns yelled at him the most. And she never missed her mark when it came to those guns. He doesn't like her much either.
There's another red haired woman. Girl. She's frozen though. He doesn't know how he can tell she had red hair. Or that she was a girl. It's weird. Her skeleton looks just like any others. He doesn't like her much either, she makes him sad without even saying anything. Not that she would ever speak again.
The one thing that he likes, he supposed, is flying. Sometimes when he flew high enough the sky would turn black and cold and stars would flicker like candles. (Stars. What were those?) But he'd get tired eventually and have to go back down.
It's fine though, the green skies aren't that bad either.
as i try to tackle some writing on low energy i get caught into a mental loop of him dealing with some immortal/pseudo-immortal (for fun or as an enemy) and the chaos of that. i was musing over him meeting my main blog's witch and the loop of "haha, going to transfigure you" and her going, "haha, i'm going to destroy my body now brb chucklefuck" has been living rent free in my skull.
i feel like someone with a healing, regeneration or some other type of immortality-type ability would interest him to play with. but if their personality doesn't keep his interest, he'll eventually grow irritable if their technique lets them bounce back regardless of how he shapes their soul.
couple that with if they are a pain to alter the shape of then he's going to be extra (ಠ_ಠ)
he would be fascinated with someone who can just take damage and see how it affects them. tolerance of it physically, how it affects someone on a psychological level. that alone could potentially keep him interested in an "unbreakable" toy.
note: he wants to test his own ability against someone like that and see if he can achieve destroying them.
I have so much stuff I should be doing but instead, I wrote this at 4/5 am
TWST AS AOP ELEMENTS
A Ordem Paranormal (AOP) is a Brazilian horror and survival TTRPG, and in the universe, there are 4 elements you can be aligned to: Blood, Energy, Death, or Knowledge.
Quoting from the wiki with the best translation I can make myself
Blood is the entity of feelings. It longs for intensity: pain, obsession, passion, love, hunger, hate - everything that has to do with feeling an extreme emotion pleases the entity of blood.
Death is the entity of time. It searches the lived moments, distorting the egoic perception of the existence of every individual for its own pleasure.
Knowledge is the entity of conscience. To find, to learn, to know, to decipher. To have your own perception of the Other Side and it's creatures pleases the element of Knowledge.
Energy is the entity of chaos. Everything that cannot be explained, the intangible, the anarchy. The constant shift, the warmth and the cold, the light and the darkness. Everything that involves the unpredictableness and the transformation pleases the entity of Energy.
In my hcs, with the help of the AOP connoisseur @weirdcore-fantasy I have made this little list of sorts of who would fit each element better. You can disagree or give ur inputs as what changes u would make, but let's not fight cuz this is just a silly little thing.
Riddle is Blood (but fakes being Knowledge)
Trey is Knowledge
Cater is Death
Ace is Knowledge
Deuce is Blood
Leona is Death
Ruggie is Energy
Jack is Knowledge
Azul is Blood
Jade is Knowledge
Floyd is Energy
Kalim is Blood maybe? not so sure bout him yet
Jamil is Death
Vil is Knowledge
Rook is Energy
Epel is Blood
Idia is Death
Ortho is Knowledge
Malleus is Blood
Lilia is Death
Silver is Knwoledge
Sebek is Blood
Grim is an entity of Energy <33 (ofc)
Buckle up, folks. I'm gonna spam you with another lore word vomit.
I've already written many posts about what Aza/thoth looks like and recently found another cool depiction of it online:
But what does a thing like that actually sound like?
Canon:
The fun thing about canon is that we never actually hear it speak. Sure, the building makes a truckload of noises all thanks to the entity. Creaking pipes, strange pulsating beating (one of the many reasons why I came up with it being Azathoth). Even indecipherable whispering and crying. Yet it does not really mutter a single word of its own, just keeps mocking and repeating what has already been said by other people. All you hear from the entity directly is growling noises and swishing. It's quite a cool thing.
During the very few moments we do hear it 'speak', it's with Lance. And only he seems to be able to understand it. They're having sort of actual conversations at times / he's directly talking to it a lot and it answers.

Headcanon:
Now here comes my sorta overly complicated headcanon regarding what it sounds like, and it's split into three parts.
What it actually sounds like
I HC Azathoth as a cosmic wtf entity that shares some similarities with black holes. It warps time and space and thus, I headcanon it to kinda sound like space/black holes aka like this, which, funnily enough, isn't too far from some of the noises heard in GE canon:
youtube
If anyone where to listen in to wtf is going on inside Lance's brain while they talk to each other, Az' parts will quite literally sound like that to people. Just a big wtf.
2. What is sounds like to Lance inside his head
Given how vain Lance used to be and how obsessed Azzy is with him in return, I suppose it comes as no surprise to anyone that inside his head, Azathoth sounds like his own voice. The cadence and choice of words is somewhat different and maybe it's a bit different in an uncanny sort of way, but he does hear it in his own voice and understands it perfectly fine. Mainly because he himself is a paradox and his very own time wtf-ness. Which is why he's able to carry it in the first place.
Here's a ref for the inside the head type of talk:
youtube
3. What Az sounds like on the outside
I have posted multiple HCs about the differences in power usage and body language as well. Tldr: Az has a lot more grace than Lance in a lot of ways. It's much more bloomy, friendly, and 'charismatic' than him, and overall the body movement is far more relaxed and leisurely.
There's not much to write about here, I simply cannot share this scene enough to really showcase how Azzy speaks and behaves. This is just it.
i don't know how to word this right but. obsessed with the idea of badyah's self-discovery journey being long, rocky and messy - something that's exacerbated by what happened in the finale.
obsessed with this silly marshmallow of a girl trying her best to find out how to navigate her feelings, trying out labels to varying success rates while everyone else - from her outsider perspective - has always had the perfect descriptor for themselves that fit instantly and neatly; both humans and demons. obsessed with her trying to reconcile her faith and developing sexuality in a time where she just had her entire idea of what an angel is, about what good and evil are, absolutely shattered in what's definitely a traumatic experience. She's naturally - expectedly - outwardly positive about everything, trying be the rock of the group in a time when barney left and norma is dedicating herself to vengence, but you can tell she feels betrayed and lost and confused and that is just. the.
The fact that I'm so numb to c!Wilbur's cursed lore that the only questions I have left are:
1. How the fuck did c!Phil get to Utah and raised a child? Also was Phil canonicly in Utah when he received the letters?
2. Why is the specific way to get to Utah through Foolish's Summer Home? What is it about that place that attracts paranormal stuff there. c!Foolish was attracted there, the Egg, and XD. What is it about that them desert cove?
Like when the first questions I can just compartmentalise as cc!Wilbur wanted to mess with cc!Phil in the same way the fridge thing was done. But, the transdimensional portal on Foolish's front porch? What the actual fuck?
would hiki be a friends with the crows person or a friends with the crabs person
more inclined to say the crows b/c aside from a sense of bird favoritism, i feel like its easier for him to actually encounter crows?? like crabs live near the sea man (and/or some large bodies of freshwater ig but lets ignore that for these purposes)... when/where is lil ghost boy gonna pull up to the ocean 😭😭😭
given crows' intelligence now you're just giving me the mental image of him trying (and failing) to convert crows to religion and ahkhskjhakjhskjghkjh 😂😂😭😭😭
