This certainly ended up being a little bit of a crack fic but it ended up amusing. Hope you enjoy it.

At first, he scoffs as such a time-wasting thing as wanting to watch dozens of movies.  Where is the educational value in this?

He is just too polite to refuse to listen, so he’ll end up letting you describe all your favorite scenes to him.

You are better off if he doesn’t take an interest because, if he does, he is going to turn into the worst sort of comic book geek.  Be ready to have him quote lore from issues of source material at you during any discussion on this from now on.

What do you mean who would win?  In Volume 3 #3, Thor clearly defeated Iron Man.  Don’t get upset Prefect, I don’t write the lore, I just recite it.

Doesn’t appear to be interested but, if you pause long enough, he’ll prompt you to go on.  It’s important to you, so he’ll try to care at least a little.

You’d never tell him this, but you love to banter with him because it reminds you of your favorite character.  Sometimes you wonder if he’d be pleased or offended to know who you remind him of.

Movie marathons?  Not only is he willing to do them with you, but he is also often the one who suggests them.  Don’t be deceived though, it’s not for the movie but for the quality nap time on the couch with you. 

Don’t turn that off, Herbivore, I’m watching it.  What do you mean I don’t know what’s going on?  This is the part where we learn her mom isn’t dead after all.  So quiet down and keep the lights off.

Please, he is in Board Game Club with Idia. You think this is the first time he has hmmm’d himself through a conversation about fictional characters?

Wait, you say that this makes a ton of money?  Tell him more about this merchandising and licensing.  Especially that, what do you call it…ah, Happy Meal.

You can eventually talk him into watching the movies with you for ‘research purposes.’  When you do, you can’t help but notice how teary-eyed he gets at the sad scenes.  He’s just so sensitive!

Deadpool is also his favorite character.  He feels a sort of connection to certain parts of his story.

So, she chooses to stay with him even though he looks like that?  No, I’m not blubbering.  No, I don’t need you to cuddle with me.  Ok, fine.  Just for a little while. 

He doesn’t get it, but he still loves it.  Sure, you have to explain everything to him three times, but he gets excited over your excitement.  Call him any time to talk about your theories on how things would have gone if Thanos had made a different wish on the infinity gauntlet.  He doesn’t mind if it’s 3 AM (just don’t let Jamil find out).

Movie marathons turn into parties.  Why just watch the movies when you can have themed snacks and dress up too?  Hulk smash cakes and Black Widow berry cobbler?  Yes, please.

His favorite part of any film is the soundtrack.  If he hears a song he likes, he gets up to dance along.  It’s pretty disruptive when you are watching the movie but when you see how much fun he is having, you find you don’t really mind after all.

Sorry Prefect, Jamil says we can’t have dance battles in Scarabia anymore.  Ooh!  But come by the Pop Music Club later.  I’m going to play all my favorite songs for Cater and Lilia. Ahaha!

You were worried Vil would dismiss your favorite Marvel films as inferior art, but he is actually rather generous about it.  He believes the film should suit the audience and, as so, there is nothing wrong with films like this that serve to entertain the masses.

Still, he can’t help but be critical of everything while you watch.  He doesn’t criticize the things you’d talk about with your friends but topics you’d hardly even notice while you watched like the set design and lighting.

You notice Vil seems secretly fond of Loki.  You think the idea of the Villain that survives the main movies to get his own spotlight series appeals to him.

No, Potato, I’m just saying the angle isn’t right for this sort of tone.  A shot from below would be more effective.  Plus…wait, are you having more popcorn?  I don’t think so, it’s past the time you can snack before bed.

You had expected Idia to be all in on the Marvel Universe but, at first, he is oddly resistant to it.  He’d rather recommend you one of his own favorite hero movies.  If you disagree on which is better, he is more than willing to fight with you over why his is best!

After a heated argument, he puts on some of the movies to watch so he can come up with targeted points about why his own shows are better.  This does not work out for him as he gets sucked in himself.  Next time you meet up, he wants to go over tiny bits of lore and speculate on future plot lines from hints in the past movies.

You might think his favorite would be Iron Man because they both are innovative engineers, but he is a fan of Ant Man.  Shrinking down to a size where you can hide from everyone; it’s an introvert’s dream!

Prefect, this is serious business!  I’ve drawn up plans.  So long as we sleep only 2 hours a day and avoid taking any breaks for food, studying, and showers, we can finish at least three seasons this weekend.  True fans like us need to be ready to sacrifice for the shows we love!

There are many things Tusnotarou doesn’t understand, and this is one of them.  For starters, he barely knows how to use his smartphone, let alone how to stream movies and shows.  So, before you can even start explaining the plot, you must explain the whole concept of series and interconnecting shows to him.

He doesn’t get it, but he is happy to watch with you.  Your reactions to the show are far more amusing to him than the actual show.  Plus, he feels like he learns so much about the human world from your conversations.  A subway, how intriguing an idea.  Humans are so fascinating.

Even though he watches politely, he isn’t very impressed.  They can fly?  Well so can he.  Magic, lightning, superstrength?  All just part of being a dragon.  Perhaps instead of being interested in these superheroes, you’d rather learn more about him?

 Lilia, do you think I am a superhero?  The Prefect has been explaining this concept to me in great detail lately.  I can’t help but notice the many things I have in common with these so-called heroes.  Why yes, Lilia, now that you mention it, I am wearing a cape.  Another point in my favor. Fu fu fu.

I have so many thoughts about Aventurine and his religious background so here's a really long rant. Yes, spoilers for 2.1 quest, obviously. Thought I assume most people are done with the quest since the second phase banner is out

Everything below is just my personal interpretation of his past. I know religion can be a bit of a touchy topic. This is just coming from someone who was raised super religious but ultimately ended up not following any of it. So seeing him be so attached to that part of him is really fascination for me.

I love how they explored his religion personally. It's usually common for media to show someone grow up to hate the religion they were a part of as a child. So it's really interesting to see how he doubts the mother goddess but ultimately, despite Aeons being the primary belief system in the universe, he chose to follow her. It just...tugs at my heart.

My interpretation is that he views his 'blessing' and the goddess herself less like a religion and more like a part of his past he doesn't want to let go. His mother and sister both believed in her no matter what happened and he wants to keep that with him. Not only that, since he's the last Avgin, he wants to keep his culture alive for as long as possible.

At the end of the day I do believe his devotion is more of way for him to cope with his trauma, a desperate struggle to hold onto what little of his past he has. It's the only way he can make sense of things and stay (mostly)sane. Lots of people do this, heck my mom is a prime example (i guess that's why I'm so passionate about him lol). Sometimes existence and your purpose in life and other such topics can be difficult to interpret and understand, this can be terrifying and absolutely soul crushing. So for a lot of people their belief system is the only thing helping them make sense of the world, and I think it's the same for Aventurine with Gaiathra Triclops.

Obviously he still doubts her at times, since the blessing he has is less of a blessing and more of a curse (I think the way it works is a little similar to Domino from Deadpool 2. He gets lucky but at the cost of other people's luck). Obviously luck alone didn't get him to where he is today, but it definitely played a significant part.

TLDR; Religious beliefs are complex and different people have different reasons for following their respective Gods and no one reason is better than the other

Watched a banger Spideypool animatic and the more I think about it the more they just work for each other? In a lot of ways it’s Black Cat and Spider-Man but it’s works better imo.

Deadpool does many morally wrong actions similar to Black Cat but the difference between them is that Deadpool actually cares about Peter Parker, but he also cares about Spider-Man because he comes to learn that they’re one in the same. Black Cat on the other hand, as much as I love her she does not give two shits about photographer for the Daily Bugle, sweet dude Peter Parker, and I do appreciate fics and stories where she does but I can’t ever see her caring for that.

Also I think it’s majorly beneficial for Spider-Man to date another super person. Him and Kitty Pryde worked for the most part in the Ultimate Universe ( most of it was dragged down by needless drama to just get Peter and MJ back together so it was a bit rough ) but I think out of all the super human love interests Wade just works the best? He can’t really die, his healing factor prevents Peter from having to be really worried about him during battle and a key aspect of the team up comic I enjoyed was that Wade was entirely willing to stop killing for Spider-Man.

Deadpool when the hot spider guy gets mad at him for killing people so he just stops because he genuinely likes this guy and idk it’s sweet.

It’s often written off as a joke ship in a way, and I have a lot of problems with how they write Peter in the team-up comic personally- ( I HATE PARKER INDUSTRIES. ) but when you really think about it they actually work really well and are pretty healthy even outside the fun dynamic that initially draws you in.

I think because of the amount of love interests Peter has, I tend to have a different favorite ship based on his age group ( of course it depends on how the writers write the love interests too like sometimes Mary Jane sucks although she gets shit on way too much for it. )

I am an enjoyer of married MJ and Peter being happy like in Spiderverse but my favorite ship from the 25-30+ era for Spidey is definitely Spideypool, sorry MJ I do love women but Deadpool just wins her.

On the otherhand his early college era? Mary Jane 100%. In High School it’s more difficult because it really varies adaptation to adaptation- like in the OG comics Betty is a good first love interest despite poor 60s views of women- in the Ultimate comics Kitty Pryde is great- in Spectacular Spider-Man Liz is wonderful- in Marvel Adventures Chat is wonderful so I honestly can’t pick a favorite because it varies so much in this period in Peter’s life.

( Also Gwen is not included here just because she’s written the most inconsistent actually imo. She’s at her best in the Andrew Garfield movies but she’s bad in the OG comics imo. She’s a mixed bag in Ultimate Spider-Man and I much prefer her as not a love interest there. In Spectacular Spider-Man she’s fine but I don’t like how they forcefully break Liz and Peter up just to get them together I hate that trope. And I consider Spider-Gwen as not a Peter love interest sooo… )

I do want Tom to go and do other things than Marvel. He is so talented it would be a shame if he didn´t. I am incredibly excited for The Life of Chuck and we definitely need more of The Night Manager.

But at the same time, I want to see him more as *this* Loki. He got an awesome new clothes, absolutely fantastic new powers, and we barely saw him use both. And he could still have so many stories to tell. Only looking back into comics which offfers possibilites for the God of Stories himself.

And also, Kevin Feige *must* know that Tom is one his biggest assets right now and probably rains money on Tom. Yes, the new Deadpool trailer is hyping again but I saw more excitement about TVA appearing, or Hugh returning as Wovlerine than Deadpool himself. It is a big unknown and could backfire. Or could be a hit. But the truth is that there are only a few core characters carrying the MCU now, and Loki is one of them.

I would like to see Tom back for Secret Wars (where he will be 99%), but also finally reunite with Chris. If he appeared in Thor 5, I would not mind at all.

And most of all, him and Owen are gold. Their chemistry even on stage, watching the two of them interacting and talking, was absolutely stunning. They obviously share a lots of creative ideas, have similar hobbies and I think given Owen´s invention and Tom´s way of thinking everything through, created a unique duo. I could imagine them doing a projct outside of Marvel, if I am perfectly honest. And I would not mind watching another season of the two of them doing the time cop budies schtick.

And I loved the finale, I loved how the arc wrapped but the more time goes by, the more I think possible S3 could work. Maybe use those thousand years Loki was going back to learn physics. I am sure he was not just doing that...or maybe just give them more time in the Avengers movie.

But mostly, him and Mobius should just reunite. I am not a shipper or don´t really care about romance, and if Loki would end up NOT kissing anybody, I could care less. But it would be shameful not to use them in the future. If they are smart at Marvel, they must see it.

And lastly....I am NOT dissing Sophia di Martino here. To see all three of them on stage was a delight and she obviously loves what she is doing. But the Loki/Sylvie thing really did not work for me. I don´t care about selfcest or whatever people came up with. This thing does not even exist in real life as it is a fantasy concept. We have seen a movie where the character had a child with his former female self and the child was...him. So really, it is a sci-fi and everything is possible. I just think the sort of sibling or friends chemistry worked much better. And...to be honest, I am not sure I need to see her in the future MCU by just herself. Sylvie for me personally is not that interesting because in season 1, she was basically a plot point and a love interest, where Waldron threw something on the wall like: "Hey, have Loki to fall in love with himself and we can figure out her personality later!", dropped her on us midway through and asked us to care for her.

Obviously clueless what to do with her, because Waldron left without leaving any notes what he was going to do with her - if anything except the "fall in love with himself" thing, they decided to write her as anti-Mobius. So she has no real agenda, wants to be left alone then changes her mind, then gets in the way and then hangs around the TVA "to help" only to just...being there, doing nothing, just stating the obvious. And at the end, she was the only one happy because she finally got what she wanted all along. So I am honestly not even sure what more her character has to offer - but I will be gladly surprised. I just think she is, at this point, the least interesting from all the Loki characters, and I count even OB and Casey to that equation. But again, I will be happy if they surprise me and will make her a character that is more than just angry and vengeful and lectures people around about what she thinks is right and wrong. Please, surprise me, Marvel, here, as well.

I think B-15 and Ravonna were in S2 served far better, however they were not as present as Sylvie but B-15 had a beautiful arc and Ravonna was an awesome antagonist whose intentions were obvious - however she found a cruel way how to reach them (kudos to Gugu).

So I would not mind seeing them ALL back for more, I loved them as a bunch, the whole group and the way they all were together from episode 4 on was great.

But really, we just *need* Loki and Mobius together once more, even if they at least should say a proper goodbye to each other because they did not have the chance.

Out of Jake, Marc and Steven, who do you like best and why?

MCU or comics?

I'm going to long windedly tell you that I actually have a really hard time answering this question because I love them all and it's impossible for me to pick a favorite and then I'm going to try to pick a favorite.

HERE WE GO.

In MCU it's an unfair question because we don't have all the pieces. Literally. We spend a large portion of the time meeting up with the Sass King Steven Grant and following his point of view, which is integral to understanding the story and finding Marc at the same time Steven does. And because Oscar Isaac is amazing, Steven is impossible to hate.

When we meet Marc, we see a broken man that hates himself and who we and Steven don't understand. (Those of us that came in from the comics knew Marc better and knew what to look for and loved him from the start). But then we take a break from Steven and we see Marc and he's a broken dumpster fire and he's awkward and loving. (Thank you Layla for helping to introduce us to Marc in a point of view that wasn't Steven's and allowing us to see him through a lens of love).

And it's easy to point at Marc and dismiss him and write him off as grumpy or not interesting. But Marc is a precious cinnamon roll that deserves love and attention.

We get five minutes tops with Jake Lockley and that's not enough to form an opinion or proper understanding of where they want to take his character. (Season 2 I'm looking at you with the sort of longing you read about in classic poetry).

I literally cannot pick a favorite in MCU. There isn't enough there to say this trait is superior in my personal books to favor. I love Steven's energy and sass and love starved eagerness to be acknowledged and seen. I love Marc's awkward ability to stand there like the kind of idiot that deserves to be given hot cocoa and tucked into bed for trying too hard with a kiss on the forehead.

Now Comics?! Oh boy comics.

I found it hardest to connect to Steven in the comics on my first reading of them. There was a distinct effort to forget Steven in later runs and he got either mishandled or written out all together. No one knew what to do with him after Moench and I can understand that they didn't know what to do with a smart rich philanthropist that wanted to sit around reading the paper and helping out local charity drives. This was a superhero comic, after all.

But Steven is really undervalued by many of the writers. Honestly, it wasn't till Lemire and Smallwood that I suddenly looked at Steven with new eyes and realized that he was more than the cowardly peace lover that just wanted to live rich and in comfort. Going back through Moench this past year I have found a new connection and appreciation for Steven Grant.

Marc Spector? He was my first favorite. He's an idiot that gets things done by punching it as hard as he can. He can't block or duck to save his life and he has a short fuse that's always going off. He's the epitome of dumpster fire that just keeps making the problem worse. He dug till the shovel broke then he went out and rented a backhoe.

But Marc Spector has heart. He's goofy. He's got a wicked sense of humor that makes me laugh. He stands his ground with Spider-Man and Deadpool.

He also respects the characters that get forgotten or made fun of. He helps others with mental health issues. He understands what it means to struggle and he makes it his duty to try. Even when he's being written wrong, you still get a sense of a man that genuinely wants to do better for himself and those around him, but he just is so BAD at it.

Then you have Jake Lockley, man of the people. A goofy softy that just wants to care about those around him and keep them safe. Trouble maker and officially the heart and soul of the system.

New York Cabbie attitude and Jewish humor make for a care free attitude and a sharp wit.

How can I pick a favorite? They each bring something amazing and unique to the table and I love them all for different reasons. And in different times in my life I have understood one or the other a little better.

At this particular time in my life? It's...complicated... For various reasons, I have found myself being able to understand Marc better and to understand his point of view. And maybe that's why I gravitate a little more towards Jake when it comes to a character that I want to see more of.

So do I have a favorite of the three? I try not to pick favorites out of them because I love them all. ....We just won't look at my saved images....

Cause of Death: Shot by gangsters hunting for her boyfriend

The first movie shows that she's so freakin cool and badass and confident and caring and sexy and doesn't take shit from anybody. And she's in the second movie for a Whole Scene before she dies and it's all about them having kids. And after she dies it's like she only existed as Wade's fiancee, like no one else is mourning her, does she have any friends?? Did she have any kind of life outside of Wade???

Despite Deadpool being known for being very aware of medium and genre, the writers of Deadpool 2 showed zero awareness in killing off Vanessa Carlysle solely to motivate her boyfriend, the protagonist. This is played completely unironically - the writers themselves say it! From a Vulture article:

"[...] Then I think at some point somebody just said, ‘Y’know, Deadpool kind of works best when he’s had everything taken away from him, when he suffers.’ So the thought was maybe we can really, really engender great suffering for him by having his line of work be the thing that costs Vanessa her life."

So they made them decide to starting a family only to kill her off in the same scene 👍.

Vanessa was originally not even supposed to die, but they changed that without a thought so the male protagonist would suffer more! And of course, the WAY she dies is made to be all about him, too!

The writers were apparently surprised with all the criticism they received for this scene! Because they were not aware of the concept of fridging at all. 😐

Just because you are aware what fridging is it doesn't mean you have a carte blanche to do it??? Being self aware doesn't make it less stupid.

Deadpool is literally about subverting overused comic tropes and the writers did not know about this overused trope and executed it to a T.

Eudora Patch

Her and Diego have an interesting dynamic. Exes who clearly still like each other. They had a nice mutual trust and respect which would have been nice to see grow over time

In some of the short time we see her as her own character, we see her as a mature, level headed but ultimately kind.

Not only is her death purely to motivate Diego with a revenge motive, it only motivates him for the rest of season 1. Come season 2, He has a new love interest and Eudora doesn't even get mentioned.

I don't think Klaus ever even acknowledges her sacrifice saving him and yes he now has his own dead lover to grieve because god forbid character think about more than one person at once.

Okay, this is technically a reblog, but since I'm going to (very personally) disagree with a lot of these, I thought it was kind of rude to actually reblog... Everyone is so welcome to their opinion about what they'd like to see coming up!

Things i demand wish to see from MCU Spiderman moving forward:

—Mature and confident Peter who is able to take charge of any situation as an experienced hero

Yes, except no. He's still 17 at the end of NWH. Yes, he's way overpowered and has been through a ton of crap and lost so much, but he's still a kid. An adolescent. An immature human. If he's 25? Sure. I'm all over confident, adult Peter. But if it's right after, and he's like 18/19? Still a kid, and he needs support and mentoring. Even if he's 25, he needs support.

—Spiderman swinging all over NY🕸🕸🕸🕸🕸

Yes, please. New York is his place. I want to see him in New York, but I’d also like to see the citizens of New York step up for him. There was so much heart in Spider-Man 2 when the New Yorkers protected and helped Peter. 

—Fun and complex fight scenes!!!!!!! Peter webbing ppl up during fights, hand to hand combat, using the environment for attacks.

Yeah, this is always great! This is what we’re here for! (Well, that and all the fun relationships the MCU has tried really hard to just delete, but…)

—Step UP the cinematography. Give MCU SM his own distinct visual style like Raimi and Webb did b4

Eh, I don’t have a strong opinion on this. I thought the cinematography in NWH was good. But that’s also not the main thing I’m here for.

—Spiderman helping ppl with small things. Interacting with them and really showing why the ppl of NY love him

I don’t care about this either, but it could be good. I’m just not excited to see one more person treat Peter Parker like trash after all he’s been through, which is my hesitation. (But I get the appeal)

I’m good, thanks! Peter has already struggled a LOT and I only want to see this if there is some resolution/help with those things. I’m not here for Hurt/No Comfort, guys.

—Peter trying to form new relationships after MJ and Ned

Maybe. But I’d like him to rediscover his relationship with them more. New relationships, while interesting, cannot replace people who have known and loved you for years. They just can’t.

—Spiderman trash talking his villains

Of course! One of my favorite things is the fun little mini film on Far From Home when he’s taking down the Manfredi family. Is that who they were? I don't feel like looking it up right now.

I mean, sure? I don’t really care about her, but I believe I could be convinced to care about here, if we get to see her human side, and if she shows she has good reasons for whatever she’s doing. I mean, I even cared about Adrian Toomes. Sure, he was a bit of a psychopath, but he was doing it because he loved his family and wanted to provide for them.

—DO NOT CHANGE THE SUIT!!!!!!!!!!! The one he got at the end of NWH is literally perfect. DO NOT CHANGE IT!!!

Buzzer sound. Nope. The thought of him swinging around in that (admittedly cool, very proud of his ingenuity) spandex suit, with even less protection than his original get-up gives me chills, and I want some kind of tech suit back pronto.

—More grounded stories. I love a good cosmic/multiverse story but SM is better when he's on the ground dealing relatively normal shit, petty crime, gangs, evil scientists etc

Mmm. See, I think this wouldn’t hit the same. The MCU has deleted all the people from Peter’s life who would even care if this happened to him, so it’s not going to have as much impact. They’d have to fix that before I’d care.

What I'd like to see? Really?

There are all sorts of stories that would be interesting, but I don't want a brand new "reset" Spider-man. I want to see him dealing with what happened in NWH, but finding ways to make it better, build a new team, get the support he needs and deserves while they fight against some bigger issue. Kingpin would be just fine.

I'd love to see Peter joining up with Kate, Yelena, Cassie, and Kamala. I'd love to see Bucky and Sam, or Clint (and Clint's kids!!!) becoming part of his life and helping continue to mentor him. Captain Marvel, Rhodey, ANYONE. Help this hero out while he finds his footing again after so much loss and trauma.

Happy and Pepper. Morgan. Anyone, seriously. And I'd love to see Peter get some counseling that is actually helpful.

The more Deadpool comics i read, the less i feel like Ryan Reynolds fits him and that makes me feel....odd, like kinda left out from all the love this casting is getting. He was really good as Wade Wilson in X-men Origins, his Weapon 11 is terrible and an insult to the character of Deadpool tho.

But when he got his own movie he was just Ryan Reynolds, and i know, i know "ofc he is, he's played by Ryan" sure but....that just feels off for me, and i wanted to know why, and i think i got it.

Firstly it's the way he talks, Ryan has this tone of voice that doesn't fit the way Wade usualy talks in the comics, his kinda high smooth sarcastic tone feels off to me. Partly because Wade doesn't sound like that at all, Wade has a very rough voice, sounding like Demi Moore, his voice sounds like wet gravel, according to Cable and Blind Al. Ellie, his daughter, said his voice sounds weird, whitch Wade said it's because of the scar tissue.

Also the way he talks, his jokes and the tone of his voice doesn't fit the DP energy. Fabian Nicieza, Deadpools co-creator and writer of most of his 90s appereances before Kelly wrote the first run, said he imaged Wade to sound like Denis Leary, whitch for the ones not aware, is a very unhinged and agressive sounding man, and it fits perfectly the way he talks.

Also Fox!Wade's humor isn't really the same as comics!Wade, movie Wade uses references, complicated swears and names with alot of sarcasm. Comics Wade meanwhile?

Not so much, he also doesn't even break the 4th wall as often usualy, some of those aren't even too obvious 4th wall breaks.

One thing i feel like the movies got right is Wades softness, he's a very emotional man, especialy when it comes to relationships and other people.

One thing the moves didn't quite get right is Wade and his violence problems, in his first comics he was fighting with his violence, his past, he was trying to be better after years of being a villian, and that change is often brought by his nee crush or love interest or idol, because he wants to be better for them, even if he usualy doesn't feel worthy of their love, yet he tries and tries.

There was a deleted scene in one of the movies where he and Vanessa were in Mexico and Wade lost it and killed the scamming doctor and it perfectly showed Wades issues.

His relationships were also all made simpler, Weasel is his fuctional friend, Ness is his girlfriend, Al is his funny roommate and friend. Back then Wade and his relationships weren't simple, he was like Moon Knight, he experimented, he wasn't very known, he was allowed to be odd and weird and out there. And i blame the game tbh, because now the movie was heavily influenced by what the internet thinks Deadpool is and the character is suffering for it now. Maybe i am just a jaded edgy 18yo but that's how i feel.

Now you're propably thinking what would my solution be, well i got a solution in mind, but you most likely won't wanna hear it...but i will still tell you in the next post.

Deadpool's reaction to s/o who does parkour.

I can't even imagine anyone's reaction to figuring out someone they know does parkour. Like either calm, or overly excited I'd assume.

Honestly what can be said? Wade jumped off buildings and even sliced himself with them sometimes, but never really bothered with tricks or such. He had never heard or seen parkour before, so the concept became sort of new to him when he found out about it.

You remember how he had called you 2 months ago, claiming he had a dire emergency and you needed to head home now. After leaving work due to a ‘family emergency’ and breaking some speeding laws, you made it to the apartment in less than 20 minutes.

Let’s just say you didn’t know what you were expecting. Of course Wade would call you for something like this.

Glaring at him with hands on your hips, “Really? I left work early for this?” You dragged a palm along our face. Wade looked at you with ice cream smearing his lifted mask and mouth, confused.

“What babe? Look!”

The spoon flicked some of the melted dessert onto the rug as your boyfriend gestured to what was on the TV screen. Seems like he was on youtube watching a bunch of guys jumping on rooftops, building ledges, etc.

“Those parkour videos better not be giving you any ideas.”

Great. Now you gave him some ideas, (Y/N).

A week passed and you thought Wade had gotten over the small interest. Just another thing in the past, right?

Wrong.

You kept finding chairs stacked up one another whenever you made it home from work. Or caught onto Wade running across the table. Hell you even caught him clinging onto the ceiling one night. "Wade, what are you doing?!" You'd ask him whenever you opened the door to your apartment now. He'd be hanging onto one of the lamps like a cat and would simply yell, "Parkour!"

Parkour.

It became his favorite word for a whole two months. You two couldn't even take a decent jog in the park anymore because one peek at a bench and your boyfriend would be all over it. He'd be running and sliding under the seat like it was the only way to escape some non-existent enemies.

It was starting to bother you. Couldn't you do anything without him attempting to do his failed attempts? I mean seriously, please? A simple pizza run couldn't even slide normally without him insinuating his parkour shenanigans? It was starting to take a toll on your patience.

Wade? Never. You could handle him.

Except for when he mentioned parkour. Hell and you haven't even told him you used to do some parkour yourself. You didn’t even want to mention it now. It’d only feed into his current infatuation.

“(Y/N)?!” Currently occupied in the kitchen, you heard your boyfriend call out while focusing on stirring the boiling broth. It was Wade’s turn to cook, but you didn’t want to eat any more fast-food, so you offered to make something at home.

Usually he’d cook, but since he’s become downright obsessed in learning parkour, he would simply order food these past few weeks. Eventually you grew tired of it.

When he didn’t respond, you looked over. Wade hunched over the couch looking deep into his phone. Reducing the heat to prevent any accidents, you walked over to the merc. What the hell did he shout your name for?

“Wade? Is something wrong?” you asked your boyfriend. Snapping out of it, Wade finally turned around and shoved the phone in your face. Leaning away from the screen, upon further inspection, you noticed he was watching another parkour video. However, you didn’t think you’d see yourself in said video jumping off buildings and doing crazy leaps across debris.

Shit, he probably stumbled upon some old videos of you. Calmly taking the phone out of his hands, you checked the posted video-date.

Seven years ago.

Sighing, you handed the phone back to your boyfriend before heading back to the chicken. Hoping he ignored the current situation, you went back to stirring the broth again, “Um…so dinner’s almost ready. You want some cheese in your bowl?”

He stared at you for a few moments before shooting up from the couch, “You can’t just ignore this!”

“Oh yes I certainly can, now wash up. I’m putting cheese in your bowl.”

“(Y/N)!”

“Parmesan or Mozzarella?”

Wade jumped towards the kitchen and yanked you across the room, his arms caged around your midsection. Screeching you elbowed him, “I’m gonna drop the bowl!!” but your boyfriend simply hugged you tighter, “When were you gonna tell me you did parkour?!”

“Never!”

“Why not?!”

“Because!”

Needless to say, dinner consisted of Wade spouting your ear off with questions. About what? Parkour. Groaning, you dropped your spoon into the bowl of soup, the small splash against the bowl as you dragged a hand across your face. “Wade.” you said quiet and calm. He paused, awaiting your response. Smiling at him so helpless, you asked, “Can we just eat? In silence?”

Smacking a hand against his chest in offense, Wade went on, “Huh?! I’m just asking you questions, pumpkin! Are you insinuating that my voice is bothering you? Is that it?! What about the cops you ran away from? I just wanna know how you got away!”

“What…cops? What are you talking about Wade?”

“The video of you parkour-ing away from the cops.”

“That video was six years ago. I don’t remember.”

“Seven years ago.” Wade corrected. Throwing your hands up, you clicked your tongue. “Look, Wade. I used to practice parkour when I was younger and posted some videos online. That’s all! There’s nothing important to it! Jeez, drop it already!”

The merc crossed his arms, narrowing his eyes, “Uh-Uh babe! No can do! You knew I had gotten into parkour and didn’t bother saying anything?! Not even offering to teach me some moves, I'm kinda hurt (Y/N)!”

“Oh please! I didn’t tell you because you’ve been obsessed with this for months! Besides, it's not like it’s something important! You think me saying something would help your addiction?”

“Addiction? I’m not even that addicted.” Wade pondered. Scoffing, you gave him a flabbergasted look followed by the stink eye. In your head you could imagine fake wrestling him onto the floor. Sighing, before this could turn into a real argument, you looked at Wade.

“Look,” you began, “If I taught you some moves, would that make you happy?”

“Yes!” the merc immediately responded. Quickly you pointed a finger at him, “But! That means you’d have to stop with this whole parkour thing.”

“But—”

“Wade.” you stated in a serious tone, lowering yourself down to his chair—more specifically his lap—wrapping your arms around his neck. “I show you some parkour moves, and you have to promise you’ll stop with this infatuation.”

He stuttered out some excuses before eventually sighing. Wrapping his arms around your waist, he gave in, “Alright…” Wade grumbled out. Pouting slightly, he leaned in to give you a kiss, you smiled, reciprocating.

“Good.”

“So…” The merc said quietly before rambling again, “So when are you gonna teach me? What are you gonna teach me? Oh! What if you showed me how to spin off a building and land on ledges without falling? It’d be really helpful for when I’m running away from bad guys! Oh! Or what about that one move I saw you do in the video? And what about—”

Maybe you should've just told him it was a secret twin cousin.

Don't ask me what the hell I wrote because Idk either. Sorry it sucks major balls.

i'd love to hear your thoughts on the remaining three (for the Sin Thing) even if it is just you pulling thoughts out of a hat

alright, then here we are! levi and belphie aren't in any particular order, i think they could go either way around - but lucifer is meant to come last.

warning long post ahead. now let's go!!!

levi:

levi is an interesting one because despite being the most insecure of the brothers, i think he's actually one of the most comfortable in himself as a demon

which actually relates to his insecurity i think - since he thought of himself as a 'useless angel', it follows that a 'useless angel' would make a 'good demon'

plus his arc in nb s1 is all about him coming to terms with his choice to follow lucifer, and deciding he doesn't regret it, which i feel would contribute to that

so building on all this... the idea is that levi's insecurity often makes him compare himself to his brothers, and the idea is that - having watched his brothers recover from their Sin Thing and really come into their own as avatars, his envy makes him feel inadequate all over again

he's not even a good demon anymore because they all make better demons than him, he's certainly not a good brother because he's been totally useless in saving any of them so far, and he was a useless angel back then too

his symptoms would initially just make him more reclusive, so it takes the others a while to notice, which only exacerbates his thoughts

thinking of the jokey comic i made on this topic though... i think levi's solution would actually work in this way

sitting him down and seriously talking to him would make him panic - he doesn't want to confront these feelings, and he's bound to convince himself that any comfort is insincere, just trying to make him feel better

whereas just shocking him so much that it grounds him would be much more likely to make him think more rationally

though i think i'd take the situation a bit more seriously

so levi has a kind of explosive fit, then leaves the house of lamentation - hides at the bottom of a lake, it's raining like hell, similar set-up to the comic

rather than standing to the side and yelling at him, though, ik wades into the lake and enters his inner world there

levi's inner world would be some kind of fantasy setting - a performative feel-good hero's journey story, except all the npcs keep making odd little snide side-comments (these are his thoughts peeking through)

ik goes through this setting deadpool-style. she is not taking ANY of it seriously, she makes fun of all the monsters, cracks jokes instead of engaging in dramatic dialogue, etc.

the idea is that she's just kind of batting away these 'i suck so much' ideas because they're not even slightly possibly true to her

she's 'breaking the fourth wall' until the levi in the inner world 'becomes self-aware' - i.e. finally gets grounded enough to take what she has to say to heart

so he wakes up in the lake, the rain stops; the other brothers are waiting for them

supportive brother moment <3

the key thing for ik is that she's not expressing he's 'enough' for her, but just that she wants him by her side, which i think is a sentiment levi would prefer

the idea of being 'enough' is such that he'll always convince himself that he isn't, but knowing that ik still wants to stay with this loser of a big brother regardless of any of that comforts him

belphie:

now initially i did think to connect belphie's Sin Thing to lilith

but it ended up making his whole deal too similar to beel's - with the same idea that he represses/has a bad reaction to his sin because of shame, the idea being that he was too idle - too 'slothful' - to save his sister

and, to be honest, i think it's kinda a discredit to belphie to center all of his character conflicts around lilith

is lilith's death a defining moment for his character? yep! can he have emotional hang-ups and encounter obstacles in his progress that aren't to do with it? also yes!

(also ngl i'm just kind of sick of lilith and her whole deal. don't tell anyone)

so instead i'm going for the idea of belphie feeling 'left behind'

ig it does connect to lilith but it's more of a residual thing - it's not really to do with his grief for her death directly, more to do with his own Bad coping mechanisms

the idea is just that he feels like they all move on too quickly

they pick themselves up so quickly after their Sin Things, they were up on their feet so soon after falling, they seemed to forget everything that happened to them in the war so fast

this is once again to do with the idea that belphie, as the youngest brother, has been detrimentally coddled in regards to these things, and has NO fucking idea how to properly deal with loss

(which resulted in devastating consequences in the original timeline)

the others haven't tried to talk to him about his grief for lilith, nor about their experiences during the celestial war; when they all had to support each other after the fall, they comforted him, but never ever discussed the pain of it all

it's like the doctor refusing to talk about your actual symptoms because they're afraid of making you uncomfortable, and instead just soothingly going "it's okay, just take some ibuprofen and see me in the morning"

and since belphie doesn't know how to heal from these things, he just represses and forgets about it - and he becomes increasingly afraid that the others will get too far ahead to catch up and they themselves recover

to be fair, it's not entirely his brothers' fault; belphie himself is also used to being complacent, and so hasn't actively sought out healing either

it's kind of similar to levi actually, in that they both feel bitter about the others' progress - except levi turns his feelings against the others (envy), while belphie internalises and blames himself (his sloth stops him from working to keep up)

belphie's frightened of moving on, too - he doesn't want to tie the pain to himself forever, but he feels like it's wrong to forget, too

and all this compounds to indecision and a refusal to linger on it

so when the sloth takes over he defaults to "i can't do anything, nothing will change, just lie down and go to sleep"

but he also can't bring himself to sleep - so instead, he goes around incredibly sluggishly, putting as little energy as possible into anything, not caring about anything else that happens around them

then once his brothers finally wrestle him to bed, he goes completely still and doesn't wake up

belphie's inner world would just be a completely empty void, with him at the centre, completely alone with his thoughts - forced to confront it all, but unable to because he doesn't know how

so when ik gets there, what she says to him would be similar to what she does in chapter 40 of jtta - reassurance that it's normal to grieve, to feel anguish, that it's not his fault he doesn't know how to deal, that he will one day be able to carry it and he will deserve to do so

apart from that, i think she'd just sit there with him, let him turn it all over in his mind, let it out, cry like he's been stopping himself from doing until now

belphie's been tempted to simply focus all his anger on humanity, blaming them for the war and everything, but having made fast friends with ik when she first gets nightbrought - this is also proof to him that he isn't governed by his grief

also, it's probably especially important to ik that she do this right - after all, in her original timeline, belphie didn't get this help, and in the long run ended up killing her because of it

lucifer:

it's generally the trend that lucifer comes last with these things

i did change this for the pact order in jtta, but that was because i felt it made more sense, given the different direction lucifer's arc takes to canon

here though, it does work (with my own reasoning for lucifer's sin thing) for him to come last

now. all of the brothers have self-worth issues on some level or another, but lucifer's in particular are on a whole other level

he thinks he's always right. he hates himself more than any being in the universe. he can't fathom being second-best. he knows he is awful. he thinks he's better than everyone. everyone is a far better being than him. he's strong and useless and he must be chosen first even though he doesn't deserve it

i think lucifer would've known he'd go through this Sin Thing from the very beginning, but his brothers are fairly convinced he'll either fight it off immediately or never have it happen in the first place

it's a constant thing with him, he's never as capable as the image he projects, and because he hates letting it fail - he doesn't reject the idea that he'd be immune

and i think part of him would actually be a little convinced; surely he of all demons would be able to resist this stupid force?

lucifer can be extremely close-minded sometimes, and this is working against him right now because he hasn't realised that all of that 'i'll be fine' spiel is the pride talking

so when he starts feeling it happen, he sort of spirals, which only exacerbates the effect - especially since he instinctively isolates him with his work, not wanting his brothers to see him like this

what makes it worse is that he thinks "didn't i learn my lesson? didn't i learn to stop doing this? if mammon didn't think to go to ik, and if ik hadn't come to me, i wouldn't have accepted any help. i would've tried to do it all myself, and we might've lost satan in the process. we might've lost our whole family in the process. i was entirely useless for whole ordeal."

and he knows what he should do, but he can't because his pride is in control - what's more, he feels it's his own fault that he can't stop it, which only lets the sin dig its claws in deeper

plus, because lucifer's so well-practised at keeping this facade up, none of his brothers notice what's happened for about a week

mammon can tell something is off, but lucifer squarely rejects his offers of support and brings up his trouble-making in response, which successfully chases him off

i feel like in this case, it's important that lucifer actively accepts ik's help - rather than her just jumping in to get to him, as has been the case with everyone else

she'd have noticed something was up as well, and has been making gentle attempts at asking him what's wrong - which lucifer has brushed off, reasonably naturally

after hearing how he completely rejected mammon's offer of help, though, she decides to throw caution to the winds and goes to see him in his office

lucifer's response is to yell at her

now he's proven himself capable of being a massive bitch before now. however, this is on a whole new level

he's never insulted ik herself before, for example, but with his pride talking he's stooping to levels never before seen

once he's done ik just kind stands there and stares at him blankly

now, this is the SEVENTH GODDAMN TIME ik's had to put up with this sort of thing. fourteen if you count the first round back in the original timeline

she is so tired. so she really can't be blamed for crying

you would not believe the levels of regret lucifer immediately feels

in fact said regret is so strong it actually drowns the pride out for long enough for him to immediately start apologising

ik (very embarrassed by the crying) just kind of shakes her head like "it's fine, it's fine, forget about it, look can you just fucking listen to me"

in this case, there aren't any big dramatic speeches. the fact that ik's still attempting to help him after he just made her (who, famously, basically never cries no matter what happens to her) cry with his own awfulness is enough to snap him out of his funk, for long enough to let the others get through to him

see, mammon, sensing a disturbance as soon as the tears began, crashes into the office soon after that, and the ruckus duly attracts the other brothers

now lucifer's instinct is to go "shit", because now they're seeing that their eldest brother is not infallible

except his brothers' immediate reaction is not shock, or (rightfully, he thinks) disgust, but rather concern

who could've guessed, lucifer? your family fucking loves you

sure, you fucked up (and they're going to scold you for being mean once this is over), but that doesn't make you any less their beloved big brother

lucifer essentially gets saved by a combination of dadcifer instincts and his family's care, which i think is very fitting for him

it's not canon, no. not every bit of spice is canon - sometimes it's just for me. i really want to see matt and peter kiss, but that's kind of about it. i haven't read nearly enough daredevil for me to write it or make it any sort of canon. it's just a "it would be hot though" kind of situation.

in 9319 proper, peter kind of just has a crush on dd. peter doesn't know matt's identity, none of that, none of that. i don't think they have a very intimate history, unfortunately. i know realistically they'd cross paths all the time, and they'd have shared a lot of soul-baring moments together but in 9319, not really. they team up occasionally, and peter wants to kiss him. that's about it.

i think i'd like to read more dd+spidey team-ups for me to really start fleshing out anything between them. i just haven't done the reading.

i think 9319 peter specifically is kind of bad at making friends. deadpool and daredevil honestly probably have a better repertoire than spider-man and daredevil have. 9319 spider-man is kind of socially inept. he doesn't have any super-friends really, save for the fantastic four. everyone else kind of just tolerates him. (and he doesn't even realise. he doesn't even realise.)

i think it's kind of funny, actually - that 9319 spider-man probably looked at deadpool, and everyone dunking on deadpool and he probably thought "ha! at least i'm not that guy. people like me." and every single one of the avengers glanced at spider-man and started whistling and walking away.

He's definitely an action/adventure man. When he's not on a mission, he's preparing for one by sharpening chaoseater or even just caring for his armor.

So to get a little taste of action, he watches movies instead.

One of his top favorite human movies is most certainly 300, he still doesn't believe it's based of a true human history event.

Death

Of course, he's more of a fan of books than movies. But I believe his favorite genre would be thrillers. Especially psychological thrillers.

The suspense and more often than not twist is exhilarating for the old man.

His top favorite human move would be Shutter Island. He throughly enjoyed the suspense, and he honestly never saw the twist end coming.

Strife

His favorites are rom coms. They're cheesy and funny, his two favorite things!

He can't get enough of them, even if he can guess the entire plot at the beginning of the movie.

Although he has a hard time admitting it. If you ask for his favorite movie it's "Deadpool", but he's watched an awful lot of "Mama Mia" just in this week alone..

Fury

And to no one's surprise, Fury's favorite genre is horror! The more gore the better!

However she's not interested in the cheesy horror movies such as the original Scream movie.

Her favorite human movie would be House of a Thousand Corpses. It always has her cracking up and yelling at the television!

A hero carries qualities that make someone a good person. A hero would sacrifice the people they love and themselves with remorse to save the world.

It’s for this reason only you hate the word hero or anyone who describes themselves as one.

Heroes are cowards. Heroes are people who use their abilities for good while also acting recklessly to save everyone, They get praise while some prisoners  who do the same things as a hero but with bad intentions get put away for life.

It’s not fair.

Life isn’t fair and neither is society and unlucky for you. You live in a world full of heroes. The justice league for example. God you hated Batman and especially Superman.

There was only one hero you actually admired and it was because he was like you. He was goofy and silly. He is also the love interest of this story so of course you’re gonna admire him. 

Adrian Chase or as you know him Vigilante. 

You were kinda obsessed. Mostly because he did what you did and his name was so fitting. He wasn’t a hero but he also wasn’t a bad person and you respected the hell out of him for that. 

So you kinda watched out for him. It wasn’t like you were stalking you just made sure he stayed safe. In the two months you’ve been watching out for him you had secretly saved him a total of seven times.

Not like you were counting though...(you totally were)

You just wanted the one person you considered genuine safe and his ‘partner’ Peacemaker never really did that.

Adrian didn’t meet you though not until he went on a mission with the team. You’d been following him since he joined project butterfly. 

One night the team had managed to get separated and Adrian was cornered. He only had six bullets and there were four men who were all armed.

Well they weren’t really men more like aliens. 

Adrian was cornered though, so with no hesitation (100% hesitation) you jumped in. 

“Get down!” You yelled at Adrian jumping in between him and the butterfly approaching him shoving your gun to it’s throat shooting him. Once he dropped the other three began to shoot.

Adrian stared in shock as you took all the hits easily. Blood gushed from the holes on your body as you groaned out in slight pain.

“Ow fuck! That hurt!” The butterflys stared in shock as the holes patched themselves up while you removed one of your katanas moving in to decapitate them. 

You panted grimacing jumping as you heard a gun cock. Adrian stood behind you keeping his pistol ready to shoot you. He shook from slight nerves as you tilted your head in confusion.

“Who the hell are you?!”

“Are you seriously thinking about shooting me after literally watching me walking off getting shot?!”

“Yes!” Adrian yelled back, “Fucking hell I don’t know who you are and while what you did was very fucking cool and kinda hot! You’re a fucking strong bitch!”

“Okay and?!”

“What do you mean and?! I don’t trust you! You took down four butterfly’s on your own and took gun shots with ease! Not to mention how incredibly skilled at fighting you are! Now who the hell are you?!!”

You groaned, “I don’t have a name but I know who you are Vigilante and had I not stepped in you would’ve died!”

“Yeah appreciate it! Who the fuck are you and how the fuck do you know who I am?!”

“That doesn’t concern you! Now take care!”

“Wait wait! Don’t you dare walk away from me-” Adrian grunted as two clips of bullets were thrown at him. 

“They’re the ones you need. Now go kick alien ass!”

“Wait no! How do you know- Where did you even come- HEY!” You disappeared as Adrian stared in shock. 

Needless to say after meeting you, Adrian definitely wanted to see you again but you were hard to find.

“So she knew what the butterflies were?” Emilia asked in shock by what he just relayed. 

“Yeah she was weird! But in a badass way!” Adrian exclaimed with a hint of excitement. 

“That’s impossible for her to know the butterflies though! We know them because of this whole project thingy. So she either is a butterfly herself or Adrian you have a stalker.”

“I mean she did do something weird..”

“Which was?”

“She uh got shot in the chest about four times and walked it off.” Everyone looked at him in shock,

“And you didn’t mention this earlier!” Adebayo yelled out exasperatedly. Adrian shrugged.

“I didn’t think it was important.” 

“That is important you idiot!” Emilia sighed pinching the bridge of her nose. Chris laughed a bit as John chuckled.

“I guess this means we have to find this person.” John muttered. Emilia nodded.

“Until we know she is not a threat or a butterfly then yes we have to find her.”

“Well how are we gonna do that!? I’ve been trying for two weeks and I have no luck.” Adebayo hummed at Adrian’s words.

“Well she said she knew you right Vig and that she’s been watching out for you well it seems that way so...”

“So?” Adrian raised an eyebrow at Chris. 

“So if you were to say be in danger again do you think she would step in?” Emilia sat up a bit.

“Christopher Smith that might have been the first actual good idea I’ve ever heard from you.” Chris flipped her off as Adrian glanced at everyone.

“So what I put myself in danger and hope she shows up?”

“Yeah pretty much.” He scoffed not thinking they were serious.

“Well obviously it wouldn’t be actual danger we’ll get someone to attack you-”

“If she really has been watching me then she’ll know I can take down one person no problem-”

“Not if they’re bigger than you and you’re unarmed.”

“Who will do that-”

“Obviously the person who thought of the idea.” John smirked pointing at Chris.

“What no way! From what he said she sounds like an absolute monster who will kill with no remorse!” Adrian laughed at Chris.

“We’ll stop her before she kills you but for now we need to make the setup.”

That led to now, Adrian groaned being thrown against the ground harshly. Chris laughed a bit seeing Adrian struggle to sit up.

“Do you have to hit me that hard?”

“Gotta make it believable Vig.” Emilia’s voice rang out in his ear as Chris kicked him down.

Adrian grunted coughing out a bit as Chris sighed glancing around before pulling out his gun.

“Time to die Vigilante-” Another gun cocking next to his ear cut him off.

“You sure it’s his time?”

Adrian sat up seeing you standing behind Chris. “Drop the gun.”

Chris obeyed as you eyed him suspiciously, “So Vigilante wanna tell me why your best friend Peacemaker is trying to kill you?”

“Wait you know who I am-”

“Everyone knows who you are fuck face. You’re known as the racist hero-”

“I’m not racist!” You scoffed.

“I told you that you came off as racist!” Adrian stood up coughing a bit. You hummed putting your gun down glaring at the both of them.

“You stopped him from shooting me-”

“Please you dumb fuck I know he wasn’t gonna shoot you. I came out because I knew you were looking for me.”

“Oh..”

“Yeah idiots. You both made it obvious.” Adrian chuckled a bit as you smiled under your mask.

“So Christopher Smith and Adrian Chase-”

“YOU KNOW MY NAME NOW!!”

“To what do I owe the pleasure?” You gasped out feeling a sharp pain in your arm. Chris had stabbed you with a needle.

You yanked it out angrily glaring at him. “You s-stabbed me..” Your words came out slurred, “No..You drugged me! You son of a bitch!!”

You pulled your gun out pointing it at Adrian and Chris. “Both of you stay b-back!��

Adrian sighed raising his hands up, “Calm down..” 

Your eyes began to droop as you swung your gun frantically. 

“I don’t think she’s a butterfly..Drugs like this don’t effect them.” Chris muttered out as you fell still holding your gun up.

“W-wait y-you thought I butterfly!...” You garbled out head slumpng.

“In our defense you did take bullets and healed them right up..”

“Not alien..failed experiment....” 

You slumped down groaning before falling asleep. Adrian winced as Chris raised a questioning eyebrow.

“I feel kinda bad..She really was just looking out for me..”

Chris sighed as Emilia came out with everyone else. “Well pick her up and let’s get going. Drugs are only gonna last-”

“Two minutes for me!” Your head popped up a bit lazily. “Knocked me out and once I can move again I am gonna kick all of your sorry asses!!”

Your words were still slurred and you were immobilized. Adrian sighed picking you up. “Okay here we go.”

“Put me down! Fuck! Stupid bitch! Dumb whore!” Adrian laughed a bit as you slurred out insults.

“Okay so we gotta move fast.”

Adrian and Chris tied you down in a chair leaving the room after removing your weapons. You groaned out feeling your limbs start coming back to normal. They all surrounded you eyeing you with a small amused look.

You struggled in your restraints as Adrian grinned. “I was a boy scout. You won’t break those ties easily.”

“Take off her mask.” Emilia told Adrian.

“NO!” You yelled out shaking your head. “Don’t fucking touch my mask!!”

“I’m not removing her mask.” Adrian said as you yelled out. 

“Chase we gotta see who this is-”

“No! You touch my mask I swear when I get out of this chair I will kill every single one of you motherfuckers!”

“Okay okay we won’t remove it!” Adrian reassured you. Chris groaned standing up.

“I’ll do it!” You flinched in your seat as he grabbed the edge of it.

“Hey!” Adrian stopped Chris from doing it. “She said she doesn’t want her mask off! We’re not removing anything!”

You wiggled your ties before deciding to screw it and break your arm so you could slip out. Adrian yelled out seeing your broken wrist snap back into place. 

You untied yourself using everyone in shock as an opportunity to break free. Adrian grabbed you as you stood up trying to run out.

“Fuck Off!”

“Stop stop! We just wanna know who you are?!”

“Oh why didn’t you just say so?! I am not an alien and my name is-” Adrian covered your mouth.

“Don’t give away your secret identity!” You bit his hand stomping on his foot throwing him away from you.

“My name is Y/N and I honestly don’t give a shit if you know it and to be quite honest the author doesn’t really know how she plans on getting you to know my name!”

Adrian and everyone shared a questioning look with each other. You sighed grabbing your stuff from the corner.

“Hey! We’re not done questioning you-”

“No you’re not! But I will cooperate!” You moved taking a seat across from them.

You lifted the edge of your mask pulling out your vape. “Now ask away on my terms.”

“So your name is-”

“Y/N as I’ve said before.”

“And you’re not a alien?” Chris asked you. Adrian couldn’t help but to admire the bottom half of your face showing as you puffed out smoke.

“No I’m not an alien.”

“You mentioned failed experiment?” Emilia spoke up now just as intrigued as everyone else.

You nodded taking another hit, “Yes they tried to make a weapon. Someone to call a hero and got stuck with me. I uh..Shit was fucked and I’ve never looked back after I left.”

She nodded as Adebayo leaned forward, “So you left and became a hero on your own terms-”

“No no let me stop you there sweetheart I am not a hero.” Adrian raised an eyebrow at your words.

“Wait you’re not? I thought you were...”

“Heroes don’t kill Vigilante and Heroes aren’t selfish..I’m selfish. I know I am. A hero would sacrifice themselves or whoever they deem necessary to save the world while a villain would sacrifice the world to save whoever they wanted including themselves.” 

“So you’re a villain?” Adrian asked removing his mask. He realized there was no point you knew his name. You smiled seeing him take out his glasses.

“You’re cute..and no I’m not a villain either..I honestly don’t know what to call myself..But I’m not a hero.”

Emilia and the team didn’t know what to think of you, but they were sure of one thing.

“We can’t leave you alone.”

“What?” You coughed a bit at Emilia’s words.

“You’re a liability since you know Vigilante’s identity and you know what the butterflies are. We can’t risk you blabbing your mouth to random people-”

“How do you know I haven’t already?”

A gun cocked loudly as Chris pointed it to your head. You raised an eyebrow giving him a smile.

“I’m kidding. I wouldn’t give away Vigilante’s identity.”

Adrian sighed a bit in relief, “So how did you figure out my identity?..”

“It was easy. Look I’m a contract killer, but I only kill people who deserve it and make money from it and I’ve had shitty people come to me with your identity wanting me to kill you.”

“Wait-”

“Relax. I always kill them and whoever they told. I consider you one of the good ones and I always take care of whoever they work with.”

“So you watch out for Vigilante?” Chris asked a bit doubtful.

“Yes in a way after getting the first hit job for him. I usually study whoever I have to kill and I watched him for two weeks before deciding whether to do it or not...Vigilante is someone I...He’s a good person.”

Adrian couldn’t help but to grin at your words. Someone actually thought what he did was good and not bad. Not to mention you described him as something no one has ever. 

A good person.

Adebayo smiled as well. You cared for him. Not that you would admit it though.

“So what’s the plan then?” You asked Emilia curious of her decision. 

“You’ll be joining the team.”

“Wait really?” John asked her.

“It’s the only way I can think of us being able to watch her on a tight leash and what’s one more killing psycho.” John chuckled at her words as you nodded.

“Alright. I’ll join or whatever.”

“Really? We don’t gotta convince you or anything?” Adrian sat across from you.

“Really. I know you don’t trust me, but that’s okay I don’t trust you either.” You grinned widely before standing up to walk out.

“See y’all tomorrow.”

“Will we really?” John muttered under his breath as Emilia told Adrian to keep an eye on you. Adrian agreed. Mostly because he wanted to get to know you.

Later that night during his patrol, Adrian had been sitting in his car waiting for something to happen. He didn’t expect for you to open his passenger door and climb in.

“Hello!- WOAH WOAH!” You yelled out as he pulled out his knife swinging it at you.

“Oh..Sorry hi there!” He put it away as you huffed.

“Jeez. Maybe I should’ve killed you when they offered me half a million.” Adrian laughed at your words before noticing you sliding your seatbelt on.

“What are you doing?”

“Joining you on patrol. Didn’t blonde women say you have to keep an eye on me?”

“Uh well yeah but I’m on patrol.”

“Okay? I’ll help you. I got no kills to do as of late and I’m bored not to mention I’m trying to get into your pants.”

“Well tough luck with that. You’re not getting in my pants. Honestly you’re a criminal if Emilia hadn’t told me anything. I would’ve killed you.” You laughed.

“I’d like to see you try Adrian.”

“Don’t say my name.” Adrian groaned out while starting the car.

“Why? I like your name besides I told you I’m not a bad guy.”

“I didn’t say you were, but you break the law.” You rolled your eyes.

“You do too. Hypocrite. Also I only kill bad people. Only difference between me and you is that I get paid for what I do.”

“You’re basically an assassin.” He exclaimed while looking around.

“You’re basically a Vigilante.” You laughed imagining the blank look on his face under his mask as he turned to you. “That’s were the name comes from huh?”

“Yes and I thought it was cool.”

“I never said it wasn’t. Dude you’re name is fucking cool. It’s why I keep trying to get in your pants.” Adrian couldn’t help but to chuckle.

“Fine Y/N.”

“Oo careful Vigilante if you say my name like that I get all tingly.” 

“Maybe that’s what I want.”

Adrian cursed himself. He shouldn’t be flirting back with you, but it came so easy. You were so carefree and...

“You think I can kill ten people with five bullets?”

Like him.

“If you try hard enough.” 

It was after that the two of you became inseparable. Adrian and you were attached to the hip every mission and when he went on patrol. You even invited him to some of your jobs.

He always denied, but stopped judging you for doing it. The only thing you still hadn’t done was show Adrian your face.

It began to irk him a bit. Mostly because you knew his name and face, also where he lives. You guys had movie nights and he had never seen your face.

“Fucking shit man..Blood does not come out like that!” You complained while the killer stabbed their victim on the screen. Adrian and you usually watched horror on movie nights.

“Can I ask you something?” You hummed while lifting up the bottom of your mask taking a sip of your beer.

“Why do you always wear your mask?” You smirked glancing down at Adrian.

“I have my reasons. Why do you ask?” Adrian shrugged.

“I don’t know. I guess I just find it kinda weird. You’ve seen my face and know practically everything about me. All I really know is your name.” You shook your head.

“No you know more.”

“Not really.” You set your beer down moving to sit across from him. 

“Yes you do. You know me personally. More personally than I’ve ever let anyone know. That sounded weird. Author messed up their words there, but what I mean by that is..I’ve shown you more of me than I have ever shown anyone Adrian...Do you really not know me?..”

Adrian sighed shaking his head, “No..I do kinda know you. Like I know you’re favorite foods and drinks. I know you laugh whenever something awkward happens cause that’s your trigger response..I’ve never seen them, but your eyes grow slightly wide when I flirt with you which is often.”

“See..You do know me, but if it bothers you so much and you think you need to see my face to really know me...” You grabbed the edge of your mask jumping as Adrian grabbed your hand stopping you.

“I don’t need to see your face in order for me to know you. You’re right..I do.” You shook your head moving his head.

“Because you know me you deserve to know. Plus I’ll be able to reveal my face more often not to mention maybe you’ll finally make a move when you see me or you’ll drop me completely after seeing the ugly scar I got on my face from the experiment.”

Adrian’s eyes widened as your face was revealed. You did have a scar. It looked slightly painful. It ran across your left cheek to the corner of your lip.

Adrian wanted to reach out and touch it. He wanted to touch you. You smiled awkwardly laughing as you grabbed your mask ready to slide it back on.

“I know ugly right? I’ll put my mask back on-” Adrian took your mask from you shaking his head.

“Never say that again.” He grabbed your face eyeing your lips. You took a shaky breath feeling vulnerable and exposed under his gaze. His fingers trailed your scar carefully as he grinned at you.

“Dude you’re hot.”

You laughed loudly. “I mean it you’re so fucking hot.”

“Nice try Adrian. I’m not stupid-”

“You’re not stupid and I’m not joking. Holy shit balls dude you’re fucking gorgeous.”

You sat stunned as Adrian studied your face. Clearing your throat after some time, you reached for your mask ready to slide it back on. 

Adrian immediately grabbed it throwing it across the room. You glared at him as he smiled sheepishly.

“Sorry just keep it off..You look better without it anyways.”

“What if someone else sees?..”

“No one will. I promise. We’re here at my place. I’ll close the windows if it’ll make you feel better? Just please keep it off.”

You sighed before nodding, “Close the windows.” 

Adrian cheered doing a small happy dance skipping away to shut the windows. You sighed as he sat next to you wrapping his arm around you.

Reluctantly your eyes gazed over to him catching him in time as he glanced at you. “Can you stop staring shithead?”

“Can’t help it..” He muttered with a grin. 

Adrian had realized something that night. It was something he didn’t ever think would happen especially with you of all people.

He loved you.

He just didn’t know if you felt the same. (You so obviously did)

It became obvious to everyone that he did care for you. He became more protective of you. Adrian was always protective of those he cared for and you just made number one on that list.

It annoyed you.

How were you supposed to be a contract killer when you had a overprotective Vigilante watching your every move?

“So how much do you charge?” You cleared your throat staring down at the young women sitting before you asking you to kill her husband.

“Depends how much are you willing to pay?”

“Whatever it takes. I just can’t live with him anymore and I don’t wanna be in fear of him finding me. I want him gone.”

You nodded, “I’ll do it for a seven hundred.”

“Really? Isn’t that a little cheap-”

“Don’t question it. Get it to me by tomorrow.” She nodded with a grateful smile before walking out of the bar. 

You sighed ordering a beer before jumping as Adrian jumped in the seat in front of you.

“Hey was that a client?” 

“Yeah I have a new case so I’ll be busy for the next couple of days.” Adrian frowned a bit.

“So you won’t come for the mission then?”

“You mean the one in three days with you guys? No I’ll be there I should be done with this by then if I get started now at least.”

“Oh..so do you mind if I ask who it is?”

“I do since we’re in public besides this is boring hot stuff. It’s all a bunch of crap and stupid shit. I’d rather talk about you.” You raised the bottom of your mask flashing him a smile taking a sip of your beer.

“Why don’t we get out of here?” Adrian asked you offering you his hand. You took it letting him lead you out.

“Man is this it? You finally taking me to bed Chase?”

“Maybe.”

“I love when you get mysterious makes me all tingly.”

“Shut up weirdo.”

“I know you did not just call me weirdo. Mister I pour the milk before the cereal.”

“It tastes better.”

“It’s the same!” Adrian rolled his eyes as you both bickered the entire way back to your place. 

The night was the usual between you both of watching movies and obnoxiously flirting with each other. 

“Hey...this guy you’re going after is he dangerous?” You hummed as Adrian rubbed your legs. 

“Well kinda yeah, but most of who I go after are dangerous and believe me this guy is not the worse. I’m doing this for his wife. He beats her.”

Adrian nodded, “I hate men like that.”

“I know I also hate them it’s why I do this type of work. Why are you asking though? Don’t tell me you’re worried for me?”

“No why would I be? That’s dumb..”

“I know it is..” Adrian nodded looking away from you. He seemed a bit tense and almost a little angry?..

“Holy shit Adrian are you actually worried for me?”

“No! No! I know you can take care of yourself.”

“I can so why are you so worried?”

“I’m not worried.” You raised an eyebrow as he grew defensive.

“If you’re not worried then I need to start heading out to start this job. You can spend the night here if you want.” You sat up stretching grabbing your mask. 

“You gotta go now?”

“Yep. I’ll see you in three days.” Adrian nodded as you patted his cheek walking out. 

“Yeah three days..”

You smiled leaning down to finally do the thing you’d been wanting to do for a while. You grabbed his shirt and yanked him up to you.

You kissed him. You kissed him hard. 

Adrian’s eyes were widened in shock as he panted softly once you pulled away. “I will be okay. Stop frowning and stop worrying. Promise I’ll be back.”

You walked to the door as he stood up following you, “This is so not fair! You can’t just kiss me and leave!”

“Yes I can dip shit! See you in a couple days!”

Adrian sighed as you skipped to your car. He had it really bad for you..

Which is why he did what he did.

“You stupid fucking idiot!!” You threw your mask off angrily glaring at Adrian.

“Look-”

“No! No! You are a cock sucking piece of shit Adrian!” He sighed as you tossed your guns to your coffee table angrily. “I can’t believe you you just! UGH!!”

“I thought it would help you-”

“No! Fuck you! You did this for you! Don’t use that stupid excuse that you wanted to help me!”

“Y/N-”

“Fuck you Adrian.” You walked to the restroom stripping your gloves off to start washing yourself up. Adrian sighed removing his mask following you.

“Y/N-”

“Go away.” He groaned throwing his hands up.

“Would you fucking give me a chance to speak?!”

“No! Why should I? It’s all gonna be a bunch of bullshit excuses! Cause you are bullshit!”

“It’s not a bullshit excuse! You needed this guy dead right?! So I handled it for you-”

“Not safely! I always handle it in a way they can’t tie it back to the people who hired me! You put his wife at risk for doing my fucking work! I study my kills before going after them take my fucking time! You screwed it all up!”

“I didn’t mean too-”

“I know you didn’t! It’s why I’m pissed off! You didn’t mean too, but you still did it anyways! This is my work here Adrian! One you said you didn’t approve of so I don’t know why suddenly you wanna help!”

“They’re gonna tie the murder to me anyways!”

“I know that! It’s why you got fucking lucky! But they are gonna question why Vigilante went after this normal looking man who doesn’t have a criminal record! Did you ever think of that?! Or were you too stupid!?”

“I am not stupid!”

“You are when you’re reckless! I can’t understand what the fuck were you thinking! Do you know how fucking lucky you are I got there before the cops did!?”

“I know I was lucky!”

“No you don’t we were both shot at! I took the painful hits for you so you’re dumbass didn’t die!” You kicked the cabinet sink angrily as Adrian turned away from you.

“I didn’t ask nor want you to do that!”

“I did it so you didn’t get hurt!”

“But you did!”

“I can heal myself! I can’t die remember!”

“Doesn’t mean I want you to get hurt! I don’t want you hurt you fucking idiotic bitch!”

“Why do you care so fucking much?! I thought you hated me! I’m technically a criminal remember! You said it yourself if Emilia hadn’t told you not too you would’ve killed me! You hated me! Fuck!”

Adrian felt his throat swell up as he choked back tears not wanting you to see him cry. This was all so stupid.

“I should’ve never gotten involved with you Adrian! I should’ve just kept my stupid distance and not gotten fucking involved!”

“Then why didn’t you!” He screamed out.

“I don’t know! I was just as much as an idiot!” Adrian groaned pulling his hair. You moved around Adrian going to your kitchen.

“I need a drink.” You mumbled out as Adrian huffed laughing.

“I just can’t believe you’re upset with me for helping!”

“I’m upset because you put yourself at risk and did my fucking job!” You hissed once you slammed the door feeling your shoulder throb.

Adrian relaxed slightly seeing the grimace of pain on your face. “Your shoulder when we fell it dislocated. Let me help you pop it back in-”

“Don’t touch me!” You snapped at him. 

“I’m trying to help!”

“Well stop trying! I’ll pop my own shoulder in when I want!”

“It’s hurting it’ll literally take a second!”

“I don’t want your help!” Adrian clenched his fist grabbing his mask.

“Fine! Fine! Be angry and stubborn! I don’t care anymore! I’m going home!”

“Good! I didn’t want you here right now anyways!” He stopped turning around.

“See I was gonna leave but then you said that so now it makes it seem as if I’m leaving because you told me too! Which isn’t what I wanted!”

“Oh my god!” You exasperatedly yelled out grabbing your shoulder.

Adrian took a deep breath removing his suit. “What are you doing?”

“I’m gonna get undressed and I’m gonna crash on your couch we can talk in the morning.” You laughed a bit sarcastically. 

“No! I seriously don’t want you here right now-”

“I don’t care what you want. You’re hurt and I wanna make sure you’re okay.” You sighed looking away.

“Fine. Fine. Morning you’re gone though.”

“After we talk sure.”

“I don’t wanna talk to you!” Adrian approached you offering you a small smile.

“Look..I really am sorry for messing up your thing and for having you get shot for me. I killed him because I was worried for you.”

“I’m sorry for calling you stupid. I told you not to worry for me though. I’m always fine. You said it yourself too. You hate my work.”

“I hate your work, but I don’t hate you. I want..I want you safe. It’s weird for me to say that, but I want no I need you fucking safe. I can’t have you hurt Y/N.”

“That’s selfish of you Adrian..”

“I know. So maybe I’m not a hero like you thought I was because I know I’d throw away the whole world if it meant you were okay.”

You huffed a bit glaring at him. Adrian smiled at you. “I hate you.”

“I know.”

“This doesn’t mean I’m not still mad at you.”

“I know.”

“God screw you for being fucking cute and likable!” You yanked him down for a kiss. Adrian smiled into your lips kissing you back.

“You screw up any of my jobs again and put yourself at risk like that again I will kill you!”

“Okay!” Adrian kissed you again.

“About what you said earlier too..I’m not a hero either I care for you just as much now take me to bed and screw me into the mattress!”

Adrian grinned throwing you over his shoulder. “With pleasure!”

I guess neither of you were heroes, but you both still did your best to do the right thing..

“I’m not sorry for killing him though.”

“I know you aren’t Adrian. I want you to be sorry for screwing me over!”

“I am sorry for that but I’ll kill whoever I need too for you to be safe.”

Again you both tried to do the right thing.

It's Lokius! I think they've given me everything I never knew I could have. It's a classic enemy to friends to lovers, built on mutual trust and respect. It's a god in love with a mortal, but the mortal in question is older than the god and also has watched his entire life because he's interested in the mechanics of his being. It's a tragedy, inherently, but it's also incredibly mundane considering the circumstances. It's two people who like each other so much, who cannot stop touching each other, and - ultimately - the entire multi-verse is saved because one guy believed that someone canonically irredeemable could be a better person. I love them so much.

H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?

I really like comics/books and that's where I source most of my "canon". I'm not really into the MCU movies, though now that I'm very into Loki it is my great exception. I don't base Deadpool or Spider-Man after anything in their respective movies because I don't like their approaches to the character enough to be inspired by them. I also don't read enough comics to be a true comic-canon writer, but I do like peppering my writing with little details and notes from them.

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending? 

I am truly where headcanons go to die. I don't have them (or, more realistically, everything I write is true regardless of its alignment with the source)

W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.

I really think that the way fandom writes about sex workers is not only wrong/misinformed/fetishy, but pretty universally bad. I have definitely read some half-decent ones before, but in general it's like. Oh. You don't understand how this works at all! That sucks! (I'm looking at you stripper/cam aus. I am looking at you.)

I am a sucker for barbarian AUs they are my guilty pleasure of all time. I love arranged marriage and forced proximity and all that jazz.

So this is it…we’ve finished x-force. All issues done. All story lines done and all interest done. So why do I still feel like nothing happen? Was time wasted? Was it really all for nothing…

Fair warning I do ramble on for quite a long time, but it’s for good reason! Anyways…let’s begin.

Chapter 1: A Promising Start/ First Impressions

When I first stumbled into the new era of the X-men I was originally very skeptical. For someone who doesn’t have any comic book knowledge outside of a few DC and Spider man comics from the early 2000s I was expected to be lost. But then after reading a little of the new era, made by Johnathan Hickman, I was truly intrigued in what I was seeing. Sure I had questions…many of which I wouldn’t get the answers to unless I read spin off comics of the new era. Despite that I was beyond HOOKED!

When I first saw this I immediately thought back to deadpool 2 and what they did with X-Force. Now not everything as memorable in that incarnation of the team you still had colossus, deadpool, and domino. 2 of which was seen here and the last one would come a little later. Outside of that I knew a lot of these characters already:

Deadpool

I’ve seen all this characters at some point in my life to give the X-force branding of comics a try, and thankfully I did. Sure, I didn’t understand a lot of the context behind why certain characters acted a certain ways but I could appreciate how rare those moments were. Most of the time if I just kept reading the issues I’d understand what was going on, especially in relation to the newer characters.

The dialogue between both the old and newer characters, to me, really sold me on this new era. It got me invested with what could happen to these characters. On the side note, I don’t really see many people talking about this, but the art style of these characters are VERY COOL!!! It looked fun and expressive! I’ll show examples of why I love the art so much throughout this. It really says a lot about what your gonna read, for better or for worse.

If it wasn’t obvious at this point, I clearly haven’t read comics or even x-men comics for years. So when you hear my opinions just remember that my knowledge on certain things are fairly limited in most aspects. I. Don’t. Know. Everything. Yet I’m still enjoying what I’m reading so far, with or without connections to the past. To me that only enriched everything, not the pinnacle of my interest in this initially. Anyway…let’s continue

Chapter 2: Enjoying the concept material

In my opinion, the first couple of arcs with x-force seemed like they had promise. They had a lot of interesting stuff going on. Take this for example.

Colossus, a mutant that everyone has heard of and it known for his heroism snaps the neck of this random mutant…THAT RAISES HUGE FRICKING QUESTIONS OF YOU ASK ME! Like why is he killing people? What’s the importance of this character to him? Based on how this is drawn it looks as if he struggled to kill her even though his face doesn’t portray that, the veins on his muscles do. Speaking of the art colossus looks more cold and distant being in his metal form…and every time I saw him before he never gave me that impression. It was always more light hearted rage fulled or disappointed dad (thanks Deadpool 2), but never cold murder. a more underrated question, HOW OLD IS COLOSSUS?! I mean he has a fricken beard now…didn’t know he could grow one.

Or…what about this!

Why does Jean look so…classic and basic in her design? Compared to Wolverine and Hank she doesn’t look like she belongs there. Even though she’s going through Omega Red’s mind she seems to be the odd one out. Speak of designs why does Hank got mad scientist energy now? Wolverine…more understandable since I’m pretty sure this guys a villain. Although this looks more painful than any super hero interrogation I’ve ever seen before. This doesn’t even look like interrogation, this looks like torture.

What really caught my eye in all this was the moral ambiguity at play here. Reading early x-force a lot of that was present, and as some one who loves seeing situations within the grey area this satisfied me greatly. Look at this conversation between beast and Jean.

Now I’ll address this later, but look at the points they make. Normally the X-Men are depicted as people who want coexistence between humans and mutants, yet here Jean weights the two evils and says lying is for humans not mutants. She views that as the bones honest path for x-force than what beast did.

Although beast, surpassingly, does have a point. A lie would only suffocate the process needed to save their nation. They already have enemies who would want nothing more than to harm them, so what’s the point in letting them strategize when he can just kill then now? Why should let billions die in the future when we can kill one person now and save billions?

Do the end’s justify the means…that’s for you to decide.

As for me though I’m picking up so many mixed signals here from beast on this one. Look his eyes, their blackened, this is mostly for evil, corrupted, shady, malevolent intent. Yet there’s a sense of honesty when beast confesses his mindset here. It’s almost as if he himself doesn’t enjoy the ruthless calculus of war at affect here. He hates himself for it. He wishes he could be on Jean side and yet after experiencing so much pain and damage he doesn’t see the point in being hesitant with those who want to hurt you. For him the line was drawn when they even had a thought of hurting Krakoa. Even Jean, who has her back turned towards him, seems to be getting what he’s saying. In some way she gets it. But she doesn’t want to get it, she doesn’t want to understand his reasoning but she does.

First time I read this I was stunned! Like all this was just one panel?! Wow! I really hope this continues onward. I would love to see every character get this much depth in them!

I could go on here for ages about this stuff, but if you really read x-force this is kinda what it’s about. At least until we get towards the end…which is where I started to realize the issues in all this beauty.

Chapter 3: Problems in paradise

Remember when I talk about how much I adored the concepts of what I was seeing? How much I loved what the art brought to the table so subtlety? Well…look at this.

Do you see anything wrong with it? Probably not. And honestly I didn’t either when first viewing this.

Just colossus suspiciously murdering someone. Initially I didn’t think much of this because I thought, “hasn’t he killed before? Why put such emphasis on this one?” But look back x-men history the writers and artist always illustrate the emotional distress of colossus murdering any one. He has never taken any pleasure in doing it, and he hardly does it. So when he does do it you gotta ask, “what did that person do to deserve that response from him?”

Anyway we’re getting side tracked here. Next photo.

Do you see a problem here? Again probably nothing. Art looks great, nothing outstanding but nothing terrible either.

On to the last photo.

Did you spot the issue? No? Well, just look at the number on the top left and right side of the photos. Do you see it now? I’ll explain. The first time we see colossus arc really begin is in the 24 issue of the comic. The next time we see it is in issue number 39. The very end of the arc is issue number 46. You could argue that his arc spanned several issues in between them…I wished it played out like that. The reason why I chose these 3 photos is due to them being the only time we see the colossus arc take center stage. Now you probably asking, ‘okay so if his arc wasn’t taking center stage then what was?’

This is what was taking place:

Change in X-Force leadership

The quiet council putting colossus as a member.

Beast going rogue and wolverine in pursuit of him

Kid omega disappearing in a fight after a corrupted Cerebro goes on the loose.

Kid Omega coming back, not really a kid anymore, but he has x-force follow to the future to deal with beast.

Beast and wolverine have a massive fight.

The build up to the Fall of Next before it was officially dubbed so. And so much more.

All of this was happening alongside the colossus subplot, it’s a boring waiting game. For someone reading this for the first time it felt like watching an amazing episode air for the first time only to wait a week or two later for the next episode. (Disney plus)…

But it wasn’t a week or two long it was YEARS! Years for a plot that could have being unraveled by some common sense by professor x only for it to never happen, despite them being in the same room with each other so many times! You literally see him on the quiet council every single day and get you don’t ask how he’s doing? Especially after seeing his behavior towards his own teammates?!

To his lover at one point?!

Thematically this works…but for the viewer this feels scattered and rushed. Hell the photo on top isn’t even from X-Force it’s from Immortal X-Men! Why is his arc being stretched like this, only to have no impact on x-force directly? I get it, if we spread out colossus influence it will show the readers how big of a problem this really is. The ripple effects of you will. But when the ripple effects don’t lead anywhere for a long time, constantly put to the sidelines by other major events, and then given a mediocre finale it doesn’t increase the impact it lessens it.

Not to mention the conclusion of this arc is simply colossus killing his brother which is earned don’t get me wrong, I loved that. His brother deserved death. But the very second we see colossus again it’s with x-force as if nothing happened. I don’t even remember if we had a conversation or a look into colossus psyche after everything happened. It’s just straight to the Fall of X which is already happening by issue number 43.

This doesn’t even stop at colossus though, domino has that same issue. Being skinned alive, tortured by an forgettable villain, and having it all be undone by a res set button called resurrection just feels wrong. Makes it seem pointless…

The true tragedy by far isn’t even those characters…it’s by the series main stars of the show.

Chapter 4: Beast Agenda Finale/Shattering my expectations

So Wolverine vs Beast. Again, another great concept from X-forces writers and editors. And another disappointment. Why? Because every time we get close to the conclusion to their huge fight beast manages to slip away. This one…this one got me the most upset. I remember waiting around for ages to see the conclusion of this arc, this cover art didn’t help.

Yet, despite the lies this cover baited you with we don’t even get close to the finale of the beast saga. He runs away, and the only thing that does die in this issue is just beast many clones. Boring, and useless.

But you want to know what really left a nasty scar on me during this arc. The characterization.

Was gonna show an example but I reached the picture limit…didn’t even know there was one.

Anyway, what I mean is characters don’t talk naturally. It’s always it either drive forward the conflict or to build up the conflict. There’s rarely any moments we’re characters just talk about what’s going on in their lives. It’s just moment to moment action. Feels lifeless.

Going back to beast, after reading what people think of this version of beast…I see where your coming from I truly do, but I love this version of beast. He’s actually the incarnation that got me interested in every other version of the character because his actions had context and if you had the context it would enrich the actions of this character. It wasn’t required but you were rewarded for doing so. Despite his very obvious flaws he has a point in a some of what he does. Or at least there’s an external reason that tragic on why he feels the need to do this. As explained with the Jean and Hank conversation I’d like to think the reason why Hank is fighting so hard for this country is because everyone saw what happened to Genosha! No one wants their homes to be destroyed by those who hate them the most. Not even that but it shows how broken Hank truly is from everything…that’s depressing yet intriguing to read.

And I wished this version of the character was treated with the same respect as the other incarnations and not given a shitty finale. A finale that completely reboots his character and pretty much states to the readers that we as the writers are done with this character and all that hyped up facade was worth nothing…no redemption and no future. It just hurts…and as I go back into the past to see better conclusions for this character I fear this version of the character could fall future and future down the rabbit hole.

This is why I hate reboots.

Last thing I want to say on this character is the art. What. The F@$&. Happened.

Beast (Prime), as he is referred to now, looks the exact same as the one in the past. For anyone thematic reason this could have, all I get from this is laziness. From an artist and thematic lens’s they should be different. If they had made them both different it would hit home how time has really change these characters. But since they look the same I guess that nuance also doesn’t mean anything. The art used to be diverse and fun while also being serious and dark. Now it’s just flare and boring not to mention lifeless. It’s just another pointless experiment for a pointless finale.
