Say Cheese! (Heizou x fem!reader)

notes. ꔫ self-indulgent, based on an experience from two weeks ago🙏, reader is an awkward bitch (sorry guys i couldn't rizz my way), reader and heizou are both dancers under the same troupe, lowercase

tags 'n warnings. ꔫ fluff, senior!heizou (one year above) & junior!reader, puppy / happy crush, not proof-read, short and messy

dancing is fun. that bit you could admit with pride as you finish the demanding routine that your sub-group had just finished performing in front of parents and your teammates' friends.

it all started roughly a month ago. you were just a fresh addition to your school's dance troupe when the coach announced a friendly competition between split groups within the team. you were (and are) still awkward when it came to new people but eventually, you started warming up to the 7 members of your group, one of who was already a close friend of yours. practicing was no easy feat, not with the various choreography changes and learning new skills as the process went. you thanked your lucky stars that the leaders were patient. the choreography in general was the best version you could ever ask for, you had fun doing it. one section in particular was always fun to experience, mainly the second song, which required two team members to pair up.

shikanoin heizou is one of the best dancers on the team in general (or at least, that's what you though about him). he always had this charisma and presence when it was time to perform, not to mention good-looking too. he's a year above you, and has spent way longer on the dance troupe longer than you have. now, aren't you lucky to be teamed up with him on this sweet song on the choreography? practicing the choreography with him as your partner for that specific segment was enough to label you a nervous-wreck, practically squealing inside whenever he'd cheer for the both of you during rehearsals and send you encouraging smiles.

you didn't even last a month before you had your first happy crush on one of your team members. couldn't you at least wait a year?

it was actually time to relax and eat the snacks everyone else bought to share, you were hanging out with your best friend as the others conversed with happy expressions. perhaps they were thankful the competition was a success and most of all, entertaining. minding your own business, you ate the slice of pizza you had taken from the box when heizou passed by with kazuha, earning you a teasing slap on the back from your friend that almost had you choking on your food, reverberating with a smack against your skin.

"here comes your man." she wiggles her eyebrows at you, a grin playing on her face. a groan escapes your lips at her expression. "tone it down before you threaten my dignity any further." you quip, taking another bite from the pizza.

"you two would look so good in a picture, actually." she muses, looking as if she's actually considering it. "hey, on second thought, maybe you should take a picture with him. i'm sure you'd loooove that, won't you?" she grins mischievously.

your worst fear comes true the second she opened her mouth to call for heizou, who was chatting with two other people on a nearby area in the school basketball court. you smartly drag her away with great struggle, but it's not enough to stop her from yelling out for heizou. you look away, not daring enough to ever see if heizou turned to whoever was calling.

"i swear i'm gonna bury you one day." you grunt with a struggle, pulling her back by the shoulder. you are caught off-guard when she suddenly pulls you back and tries leading you to where heizou was currently standing.

"come— on—! it won't be that bad!" she reasons with you. you think fast and take the jacket where she was pulling you by the sleeve on off and make a break for it.

unfortunate for you, your best friend is a fast runner, especially in those massive shoes she was wearing. she catches up to you on the other side of the court in no time and drags you back with choked breaths. "damn you and your lanky legs." you hiss, a frown making its way to your face. you concede and let her drag you to heizou, but not without fighting back last minute but is quickly overpowered again.

"hi heizou!" she greets him with a smile, pulling you quickly to her side.

"hi heizou..." you awkwardly greet in a meek voice, trying your best to make eye contact with your senior.

he smiles at the both of you. good god what if he saw the little brawl you had with your friend before this?

"y/n said she wanted a picture with you!" she chirps, taking out her phone with a smile. your head snaps to her then at heizou, you feel your cheeks violently heat up and you pray to whatever entity above that you weren't visibly blushing from embarrassment and nervousness. your heart pounds slightly and you begin to internally fidget.

"sure." heizou replies, taking his place beside you and switching with your friend. your friend starts to count down and the both of you pose with smiles on your face.

the moment she stops snapping photos, the whole thing felt like it dragged on for an hour. you were well on your way to dying of humiliation. you shoot your best friend a death glare before turning to the redhead with a polite tug of your lips.

"thank you for the picture." an awkward laugh reaches heizou's ears and he waves it off.

"it's nothing. you did good today. hope to see you when school starts, yeah?" your cheeks heat up at his words and you nod, waving at him.

as you and your friend start going the other direction, she turns back one last time and yells something that would've put you in a coma.

"she thinks you're hot, you should see the tweets she's made about you!" you feel yourself go faint from embarrassment and smack her shoulder in retaliation, earning the both of you a good laugh. you hear the chuckle that came from both kazuha and heizou, wanting the ground to eat you whole.

she did you the favor of printing the picture out on film and it now hangs proudly on the surface of your bedroom's bulletin board.

Scenario

You decided to go to your lovely boyfriend/husband work place ,because it was 9:45 pm and he should’ve already been home ,but you understand he might just be really busy with work ,but he should go to sleep if he doesn’t want to end up being so tired that he forgets how to be a detective

You hear a frustrated groan so you slowly open the door just a bit to peek ,to find a tired Heizou with bags under his eyes and writing scribbles on his notes

“Heizou? (Preferred pet name) ….. is everything ok?”

Heizou jumped a bit at your accidental jump scare

“Hm! Oh (____) it’s you ,sorry my partner” Heizou apologised

“It’s ok ,also please can you come home it’s nearly 10pm ,and I know how frustrating it is to work well being sleep deprived.”

“Ok ok my partner ,I will come home ,just let me finish this case first!”

You sigh then go behind him ,you put your head on his neck and try to pick him up

“Hmf! Love I said I was coming home ,let me just first finish this!”

“Nope ,it’s 10pm you’re coming home and sleeping with me”

“Partner ,please ,I have to really get my work done” pleaded Heizou

“Hmf you can do that tomorrow”

“(____) please-“ said Heizou before you just took him into your arms and started walking home

the staff were shocked to see a flustered Heizou being carried by a tired lover ,they thought it was probably best to ignore it

once you both finally get home to open the door to your house then to your shared bed ,you put Heizou down on and started blasting him with cuddles ,before you knew it

,you were blasting him with kisses starting at his collarbone going to his chin

As much as Heizou wished he could continue this for eternity ,but him being so sleepy lead him to falling asleep himself in the middle of this

Scenario

Zhongli was sitting on Mt.Tianheng looking at all of Liyue ,with you ,his dear lover sitting next to him. If you had to admit ,it was a outstanding site and your so glad you’re experiencing this with your boyfriend/husband

He asked Director Hu if he could have a day off ,which in return probably told him one of those “Ok but don’t die hehe ” jokes ,as much as you like her energetic personality you cannot lie if you didn’t say she freaked you out the first time you met her

which now thinking about it ,the first time meeting her was on your first date with Zhongli ,she probably spotted Zhongli and went straight into his dictation

And as much as Zhongli does like that she understands that death is only natural and bond to happen ,but unlike Hu ,he realises that some people are more sensitive to the topic and doesn’t like when she makes others uncomfortable with it

so when he asks her to please stop she seems shocked until she realises that he is on a date and you’re heavily uncomfortable now so she apologised and left well Zhongli checked if you’re ok

When he pulls you into a hug well planting a kiss on your forehead ,which made you blush pretty lightly

Apparently Arcons are hard to think about (WAIT NOT LIKE THAT-) but I have no idea on this one ,as in he loves pecks, slow loving kisses, regular ones ,he doesn’t have a favourite spot for you to kiss aswell ,because every spot is his favourite spot. As in his forehead ,lips ,chin ,cheeks ,hands ,feet- (joking with the last ok? Don’t start a war about feet fetish Venti pls)

Scenario

It was another Windblume festival and in Windblume festival the main tradition is to spend it with family or people who are close

so this year you are spending Windblume with Venti but sadly he was to leave for most of the day for his performance

Well you were selling wine and platters at discounted prices ,and it wasn’t surprising that a certain someone asked to have a boyfriend discount

and when you only took 1 mora off for the “boyfriend discount” he tried to haggle for it to be 0 mora ,you told him to leave

after all of that you and your lover Venti were under a tree drinking wine (or if you don’t like wine then something else) but you both were enjoying yourselves

then a very drunk Venti said in a very drunk almost mocking tone “As your Anemo Archon , Barbatos ,I demand some kisses” he pouts

You giggle slight at the comment “Hehe Venti I know there isn’t normally anyone around at this time but quiet down what if someone hears you?” you say well checking if anyone was there

“Well then ,they must think Barbatos is a pretty lucky Archon to have someone like you ehe!“ Venti says clearly flirting with you

“Also I still haven’t gotten my answer” he pouts

“Well ok ,since you ‘demand’ me of it guess I might as well” you push your lover against the tree ,roughly kissing him and once you’re done ,you see a very flustered bard

“Uh- Uhm Ahem- it was Delightful , thank you my love” Venti says stumbling on his words

the rest of the night he played you tunes and you didn’t mind if he made a mistake, because you both were having the time of your lifes

“Traveler, look!” Paimon shouts as she points to a figure ahead of us. I peer ahead and try to make out who it is, but I don’t know who they are.

The Traveler nods and walks over to them, so I follow suit. “Okay, I’ll let you know once I’ve caught the culprit.” A male voice says. The person he was talking to nods in understanding before they walk off, and that’s when the figure turns around.

I feel my heart rate pick up as my cheeks warm. The man standing in front of us is downright handsome. I can’t help but eye the beauty marks under each of his eyes.

I have the sudden urge to kiss them.

“It’s detective Heizou! Just like I thought!” Paimon proudly proclaims. Heizou chuckles at Paimon’s words. “Oh, it’s the dreamy Traveler! Perfect timing, I’ve made a breakthrough in this case. Care to accompany me for the duration of it?” Heizou asks the Traveler.

The Traveler seems to debate the idea before they agree, but I can’t help but feel bad for the Traveler since we were hanging out before Paimon spotted Heizou.

“Great! Well then, care to join me? Oh, but before we head off… who’s the pretty lady by your side?” Heizou asks the Traveler. Suddenly, his attention is on me, and his eyes bore into mine.

I feel my entire body warm as I quickly avert my eyes. I stare at my shoes as Paimon explains to Heizou who I am. “Oh, that’s Y/n! She’s a friend of ours. We ran into her here and we ended up sharing a meal together!” Paimon explains to Heizou. As she begins to praise the food we just had I glance up to see if Heizou is still watching me.

I jump a bit when I make direct eye contact with me, and his eyes soften as his lips curve into a smile. Despite my strong urge to, I can’t break our eye contact. “Oh, I see. Thank you Paimon.” Heizou returns his gaze to mine after glancing at Paimon, and he turns his body so he’s fully facing me.

“The name's Shikanoin Heizou, the sharpest and most successful detective of the Tenryou Commission. It’s a pleasure to meet a beautiful woman such as yourself.” Heizou moves closer to me as he introduces himself, and he takes my hand to place a kiss against it. I can’t help but squirm when I feel his soft lips touch the back of my hand.

“Um- thank you very much. It’s, um, nice to meet you too!” I manage to properly reply to Heizou, but my bashfulness is evident in my voice. I watch as Heizou looks up to wink at me before he pulls back. I’m sure my face resembles a tomato, but I make a conscious effort to try and appear as unaffected as possible.

Judging by the giggles the Traveler and Paimon let out, I’m sure I’m failing miserably.

“Let’s get going, shall we? There are only so many hours in the day after all.” Heizou declares. He turns around as he begins to lead us somewhere, but he briefly turns back around to wink in our general direction. “Pick up the pace Traveler. You don’t want me to leave you or Y/n behind, do you?” He asks the Traveler.

I watch as the Traveler laughs and is quick to catch up to Heizou. My heart sinks as I follow the Traveler and Paimon. Is that how he normally greets people? I guess I wasn’t the first, if the Traveler’s demeanor is anything to go by.

With a dejected sigh I follow as the Traveler chases after Heizou, and Paimon yells at them to wait for us.

“So, what brought you two to Inazuma again?” Heizou asks the Traveler. The Traveler speaks up this time as they tell Heizou their reason for visiting, and I watch as he gives them a soft smile as they talk to him.

I’m sure of it now, the handsome man before me wasn’t flirting with me.

I continue to follow them as we navigate the tricky terrain before us. “Woah, watch your step!” Heizou yells back to us as he jumps across a strangely huge crack in the ground. Paimon floats over it as the Traveler jumps over it, and they stumble a bit on the other side. Their stumble wasn’t anything too noteworthy, just a bit of unsteady feet, but Heizou still holds their arm to steady them. I watch as he holds their arm a bit longer as he asks if they’re okay.

I stop watching the sight and shift my focus to crossing this area with as little trouble as possible. Hopefully, I don’t embarrass myself in front of the handsome detective, but his interest seems to lie with the Traveler so I’m sure I don’t even need to worry about that.

I manage to make the jump, but I trip a bit on the other side. I quickly stretch my arms out to steady myself, but I still fall forward. I feel someone pull me back into them, and my back hits their chest. Assuming it’s the Traveler, I thank them as I steady myself.

“Oh, it’s no problem. I didn’t think you were the clumsy type Y/n.” Heizou whispers close to my ear.

I jump a mile in the air as I whip my head around so fast I’m shocked I don’t get whiplash. I come face to face with Heizou’s dazzling eyes, and I admire the beauty I see in them. “Steady now…” He murmurs. He releases me, and I immediately miss the warmth of his body.

I let out an awkward cough before I thank him for helping me. “Of course. Now, let’s keep going.” Is his easy reply. He quickly turns around so I don’t get a good look at his face, and he continues on ahead. I glance at Traveler and Paimon, and they both give me a knowing look before they continue on ahead.

I wonder what that look was for. I hope they don’t think I’m trying to earn Heizou’s favor by bringing attention to myself. I feel my shoulders droop as I quickly catch up to the other two.

“Here we are. Hey, Traveler, hold my hand for a moment please?” Heizou asks the Traveler. The Traveler silently nods before stepping forward and placing their hand in Heizou’s.

Wow, how bold.

I can’t help but feel a bit envious as Heizou holds the Traveler’s hand. He even intertwines them! I feel my cheeks burn in envy. The feeling is quickly replaced by a burning feeling of shame, and I cross my arms as I look off into the distance.

I shouldn’t be jealous of the Traveler. I hardly know Heizou after all. That spark I felt earlier was clearly one sided.

“Thank you. This will help me test out my theory.” I overhear Heizou tell the Traveler. I glimpse back at the Traveler and Heizou, and I watch as the Traveler uses a hand to cover Heizou’s ear as they clearly whisper in it. My heart squeezes, but I continue to silently watch, unable to tear my gaze away.

I flinch when Heizou suddenly glances behind him to look at me. Our gazes lock and I despise how my body burns under his intense gaze. His cheeks take on a red hue of their own, and he quickly averts his eyes. He lifts a hand to scratch the back of his head as he remains silent.

The Traveler turns back to look at me, and they send a soft smile my way. Paimon giggles, and they wait for me to walk beside them before we follow Heizou.

I’m left confused as I walk with the other two. What is happening? Is Heizou embarrassed by what the Traveler told him? What did they say? Did they tell him they like him and he was self conscious since he thought I may have heard them?

I hope my questions are answered soon.

Paimon quickly flies behind Traveler in fear when we reach the next area. It’s a quiet cave with a campsite inside. Heizou instructs us to carefully explore the camp for signs of anyone staying here. As I check a different part of the camp, I can’t help but steal glances at Heizou every now and then.

He has an intense and serious look on his face, and I find myself mesmerized by the way he taps a finger against his hip, silently contemplating the scene before him.

Unfortunately, I was so busy admiring Heizou that I stopped paying attention to my surroundings. I hear an unknown voice behind me, and I whip my head around to see who it is. An unknown figure is behind me, and I immediately trip the person behind me. They stumble and fall back, and I can’t help but chuckle.

“You’re not going to get the one up on me that easi-” I fail to finish my sentence as my world is suddenly turned upside down. “Hey, put me down!” I shout. I see the Traveler running towards me, and I struggle in the person’s grasp. I manage to free myself, and using my vision I help the Traveler and Heizou fend off the other treasure hoarders that suddenly surround us.

During our little skirmish, I notice one of the treasure hoarders grab something from their camp. It’s a shiny item, and I have a gut feeling that it’s important to the case Heizou is investigating.

I run off on my own and chase the treasure hoarder down. I end up cornering them in a dead end of the cave we’re in, and I can’t help but give the treasure hoarder a cocky smirk. I fight the treasure hoarder and manage to retrieve the item from them.

“So much for this hideout. Did you seriously think no one would find you guys here?” I ask them with genuine curiosity. “We figured something like this would happen, so of course we developed a back up plan.” They tell me. Before I can guess at what it may be, the treasure hoarder suddenly lunges towards me. I move to the side to avoid them, but they sweep out their leg to trip me.

I stumble backwards and fall into something. “Hey, rude!” I shout. Before I can get back up, I see Heizou making his way towards us. “I got the item I think you were looking for!” I tell Heizou as I begin to get up. “Not so fast!” The same treasure hoarder says.

The treasure hoarder out maneuvers Heizou and pushes him into me, and before I know it we’re enveloped in darkness. “See ya suckers. I’m out.” I hear the treasure hoarder yell in the distance.

I don’t know where we are since everything is dark, and I begin to panic. “H-Hello?” I tentatively shout. “Hey, hey. It’s alright, don’t panic. I’m here with you.” Heizou tells me.

I take a few deep breaths that Heizou encourages, and when I’ve calmed down I notice the predicament we’re in.

Heizou and I were shoved into some sort of locker, and I can feel every inch of Heizou’s body pressed against mine.

My body burns hotter than a Jueyun chili feels in my mouth, and my thoughts run a mile a minute.

What do I do?? I’m in an enclosed space with a handsome detective, who I’m sure was flirting with the Traveler, and there’s seemingly no help in sight.

“U-Um, Heizou I, um, uh, I’m so sorry! Everything happened so fast and-” “Shh. No worries. I have no qualms about our current predicament. I told the Traveler to come find us after they catch the other treasure hoarders who ran off, so I’m sure they’ll find us. It just may be awhile.” He informs me.

I breathe a sigh of relief. Okay, good. I just need to get through these next few minutes, pressed up against Shikanoin Heizou.

I squirm a bit as my arms are uncomfortably squished at my side, and Heizou adjusts himself on my behalf. I end up pressing my palms flush against Heizou’s chest, and his arms move so they’re by my waist.

He doesn’t move his arms or hold onto me, but I still feel my body flush regardless.

Surviving these next few minutes will be harder than I thought.

“Well, aren’t you handsy? How bold.” Heizou breaks the silence. I squeeze my eyes shut as I bite my lip.

This detective is going to kill me. I can’t handle this much flirting!

“Sorry! There isn’t much space in here.” I tell him. I feel his chest move against my palms as he laughs, and I resist the urge to drool at the feeling of his chest rubbing against my palms. “Is it alright if I wrap my arms around you? They aren’t in the most comfortable position right now.” Heizou delicately asks me. I nod my head in confirmation, but I end up accidently bumping my head against his forehead.

“Whoops, sorry! You can, it's no problem!” I quickly say. Heizou bursts into hearty laughter as his arms easily wrap around my waist. I squeal when he suddenly presses my body closer to him, and I scramble for a response.

“Heizou, why did you…?” I trail off. He only hums in response as his thumb begins to trace soothing circles against my hip. I let out a shaky breath at the feeling, and despite my embarrassment my body relaxes against him.

That’s when I notice his strong heartbeat underneath my fingertips. I’m a bit surprised his heart is beating so fast, since he isn’t showing any signs of being flustered.

“Y/n, since we have the time now, I… I haven’t properly expressed just how stunning you look. In my eyes, you’re one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. Do… do you mind if I take you out somewhere after we finish this case?” Heizou queries.

A noise of surprise escapes me at his question, and I can’t help but ask one of my own. “Me? Shouldn’t you be asking the Traveler instead?”

Heizou lets out his own noise of shock once the question escapes my lips, and soon after his body shakes against mine as he erupts into full blown belly laughter.

I silently enjoy the way his chest rubs against my hands as his body is racked with laughter. Once his laughter dies down, his hands squeeze my hips in reassurance. “No, I want to ask you, silly! The Traveler is certainly dreamy, but they don’t make my heart race like you do. Which is strange, since we just met. That's why I had to test out a theory of mine with the Traveler. Care to know what the theory was?” Heizou interrogates me.

“...Sure.” I hesitantly reply. “Well, I held their hand in mine to see if I felt any sort of romantic spark. “Um, I’m not sure. Love at first sight?” I take a shot in the dark. I’m sure my statement was way off, but the ensuing silence makes me believe my guess was spot on. “...Heizou? Was I right?” I tentatively break the silence.

Heizou continues to remain silent, but I feel the way his heart rapidly pounds in his chest. In an attempt to calm him down, I lift my hands to run them through his hair. In response, Heizou writhes against me before he suddenly buries his head against my chest. I yelp in surprise, but he doesn’t lift his head. “S-Sorry! Give me a moment please, I-” Heizou cuts himself off with a sharp intake of breath as I play with the little hairs on the back of his head near his neck.

I give him time to collect himself as I try not to think about the way Heizou literally has his face pressed into my breasts.

A few moments of silence pass before Heizou removes his head. I sigh in dismay, but I blush when I realize I did. Heizou chuckles.

“Sorry for doing that so suddenly. Please forgive me. That was indecent of me.” Heizou sincerely apologizes. “No need to worry! I actually liked it so, um, no worries!” I bashfully tell Heizou. Heizou is silent after my confession for a few moments.

I ask him if he’s alright as he continues to remain silent, and in response he lets out a low whistle that causes me to squirm against him.

“How fortunate. To answer your earlier question, yes. I do believe it was love at first sight.” It takes me a moment to fully process his words, but once I do I let out a giddy giggle.

Shikanoin Heizou, the handsome detective, was actually flirting with me and not the Traveler?

I erupt into a fit of giggles at this revelation, and Heizou soon follows suit.

“I like your laugh. It’s very cute.” Heizou says after we stop laughing. Heizou’s words bring a fond smile to my face. I thank Heizou for the sweet words, and I timidly agree to accompany him after this case is officially closed.

“Great. I’m looking forward to the time I’ll spend with you. Hm, how fortunate am I? To have my feelings reciprocated by such a pretty girl... Lucky me.” Heizou says more to himself than me.

I feel him lean his body against mine, and soon after I feel his soft lips press a tender kiss against the corner of my lips. “I meant to kiss your cheek, but this is just as good. Maybe even better. Do you agree?” Heizou asks me.

I feel his fingers grab a hold of a piece of my hair, and as I struggle to form a coherent sentence he twirls my hair around his finger.

Suddenly, my eyes are blinded by an onslaught of bright light. I quickly close my eyes shut.

“Oh, here you guys are! The Traveler and I were looking all over for you two!” Paimon proclaims. I open my eyes after a few moments, and my eyes fixate on the Traveler and Paimon standing in front of us. “Oh, have we intruded on something?” The Traveler asks us in a teasing tone.

I feel an embarrassed blush make itself known on my cheeks as Heizou only laughs. "Nothing you two need to concern yourselves with. Thank you for finding us.” Heizou thanks the Traveler and Paimon, and I give them my thanks as well.

As we leave the cave, Heizou walks beside me as the Traveler and Paimon tell us about what they did to the treasure hoarders.

I make sure I hand Heizou the item I retrieved from the treasure hoarder, and he thanks me by pressing a sweet kiss against my cheek. “Ah, I hit my target this time.” Heizou teases me. I bring a hand to my cheek as a goofy smile comes to my face.

I can’t wait until this case is closed.

“Thanks to you guys, this case is now officially closed.” Heizou tells us later the following day. The Traveler high fives Paimon before they give me one as well. Heizou gives us both a high five in return, and we all cheer at our success.

“Y/n and I have plans now so we’ll see you two later.” Heizou tells the traveler. Paimon snickers as she teases us ‘love birds’ before she flies off with the Traveler not too far behind. Before they round the corner, the Traveler gives me a knowing wink.

Apparently the Traveler knew Heizou was flirting with me all along, and when they whispered to Heizou it was to ask him if he was attracted to me. I felt a bit silly after they told me, but Paimon’s energetic reply as she continued the conversation helped ease my nerves. I apologized to the Traveler since I was wrongfully envious of them, but the Traveler and Paimon waved off my concern.

“I know a place with an amazing view. Come, let me show you. Of course it doesn’t compare to your natural allure, but it will suffice.” Heizou tells me before he takes one of my hands in his. I happily follow him as I internally swoon at the compliment.

The view I’m greeted with is gorgeous. I watch as the sun sets in the distance. “You know, that item you retrieved from the treasure hoarder was a wedding ring. The man who asked for my assistance said that the wedding ring he got for his wife was stolen when he went away on a business trip. It wasn’t hard to put the pieces together. If all goes well with us then one day I may be giving you a similar item.” Heizou casually alludes to his potential future plans.

I whip my head around to look at Heizou in shock, but he continues to watch the sunset in the distance. I feel the way my heart pounds against my chest as I reply, “I’d love that.” This time, Heizou turns his head to stare at me in awe.

As the dazzling colors in the sky illuminate Heizou in a warm glow, I smile fondly at the man sitting beside me.

I have a feeling his words will one day come true.

Two knocks on the door of your office snapped you out of your work-induced haze.

You’ve been working non-stop on this project for the Akademiya for months now and have only been allowing yourself breaks to eat or sleep. Well, to be fair, sleep was negligible too, seeing as you only got around three hours of it per night for a couple of weeks now.

What didn’t help was that you just couldn’t get a hold of a super rare edition of a book that was practically essential for this paper. However, the physical copy was lost to the void of the library as it was never returned. And since the Akasha terminal no longer worked you also couldn’t fall back on that.

“Come in.” you answer, rubbing your eyes quickly in a futile attempt to make yourself look less tired. But deep down you knew there was nothing that could hide the deep purple eye bags you’d been carrying around like a designer accessory the past couple of weeks.

You continued to read through one of the many books on your desk as the door was opened quietly and you heard long strides approach your desk.

“Are you seriously still working on this?” a familiar voice asked reprimandingly.

You looked up into the face of Alhaitham who looked down at you in a less than amused and almost accusatory way. You genuinely didn’t have time for this now, as much as you would rather spend every free minute you had with him instead.

“Well yes, I am. Things have been going slower than I had planned and the deadline is breathing down my neck.” you sighed burying your head into the book you had been skimming through prior. “What did you want?”

“You are going to take a break.” Alhaitham remarks. This wasn’t a plea, he was leaving no room for protest. He snatched the book out of your hand and placed it on a table out of your reach.

“Hey! Alhaitham! You can’t do that. I need to finish this.”

“Yes, I can. And I will.” he crossed his arms in front of his chest. “When was the last time you ate?”

Well, damn. There was nothing you could hide from him, was there? He always saw right through you. Always had. One of the perks of being friends with a genius, you thought to yourself. And your silence following his question seemed to confirm his suspicions once again.

“Come on. Let’s go to the Tavern, I’ll treat you to lunch.”

You knew there was no point in resisting so you tagged along and unsurprisingly as always, he was right. Getting out of your cramped office and breathing in some fresh air was balm for your soul.

You sat down outside of the Tavern, both ordering a meal and talking about some recent research you both were interested in. Well, it was mostly just you ranting about your project and the sheer stress the lack of one certain book was causing you, but he listened to everything attentively.

You once again came to realize what an incredibly calming effect talking to him had on you. Despite how fast your heart started drumming inside of your chest every single time without fail. You suspected that he likely would never be interested in you beyond the friendly relationship you had with him and you didn’t mean to destroy what you both had by laying your feelings for him bare. So you simply kept them locked within your heart and simply basked in his presence whenever you could.

“Oh, since we’re on the topic. I bought something the other day. This is for you.” Alhaitham suddenly pulled a book out of his bag and slid it across the table. You only had to glance at the cover briefly before you realized what it was and your eyes became as wide as saucers.

“Th-this is… the super rare copy of Ancient Nomad Language and Symbolism! How did you–?”

You were awestruck. You had no idea how he managed to get his hands on a copy. It was as if this book had vanished from the face of the earth. Aside from the fact that you could no longer buy it either or just for an extremely inflated price. How in the world did he get his hands on this?

“Let’s just say, I have my methods.” he replied with a hint of a smug smile painted across his lips.

“How much did you pay for this? I promise I’m going to pay it back–”

“No need.” he shook his head to deny your offer. “Consider it a gift.”

“Thank you. Thank you so much! You have no idea how happy this makes me.” you blurt out, almost brought to tears by this act of kindness. With this, your project was saved, and after so long you could finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

“Well, in fact, I do. Considering that you didn’t shut up about this book for the better half of a month now and everyone you spoke to knew how much you wanted it.” he stated factually.

“Hey! No need to get all snarky with me now, when I just want to express my gratitude!” you chuckle and playfully roll your eyes, prompting him to smile smugly in a barely noticeable way once more.

“It was my pleasure. Besides, today is White Day, so it was only logical to get you something.” he remarks and he continued to drink his coffee entirely unbothered as if he didn’t just insinuate the most unbelievable thing you had ever heard. He surely misunderstood something here, right?

“Uhh–” you pause. “You know what this day is for right?”

“Naturally.”

You felt like your heart was about to jump right out of your chest any second. What did he mean naturally?! Was what you deemed impossible actually true and…

“Do you… like me?” you whisper, too scared and unable to speak any louder because it felt like all air had been knocked out of your lungs.

“Looks like you’ve finally caught on as well. I thought you’d never realize.”

“What do you mean?”

“Why do you think I repeatedly asked you out for lunch or dinner? Or why do you think I keep returning your books for you if you’re very capable of doing so yourself? Amongst other things.” he enumerated.

“Well yes, but that’s what friends do.” you retorted confusedly.

“Then let me spell it out for you.”

He put his cup down on the table and leaned forward. He stared deeply into your eyes before ushering three words you’ve always, deep down, longed to hear from his lips.

“I love you.”

Three Matra ringing on your door at 10 in the morning was not what you had expected to see today, but here you were nonetheless. They had arrived just as you were about to head to the Akademiya for work but effectually canceled all plans you had made.

“Good morning?” you questioningly asked, raising an eyebrow at them. “Can I help you?”

“We would like to ask you to accompany us back to the Akademiya.”, they plainly stated, signaling you to follow them.

You quickly grabbed your keys and tracked behind them with unease pooling at the pit of your stomach and a violently beating heart.

What could the Matra possibly want from you? Did you conduct some illegal research? Did someone turn you in for plagiarism to save their own skin? Or did it have something to do with academic funds? As far as you were aware, the answers to all of these questions were no.

You didn't commit any serious academic offense to your knowledge and never planned to do so in the first place. But being called in by the Matra always had something to do with that, so naturally, you had a very bad feeling about this and couldn’t help but desperately try to find the answer to it in your head before you’d arrive.

You knew your best and long-time friend Cyno, was the General Mahamatra but even he wouldn’t show mercy if you seriously screwed something up. You knew he didn’t take academic offenses lightly - it didn’t matter who it was who committed them. He dealt out punishment equally.

The way to the office seemed like it was taking forever and many people along the way to the Akademiya threw you pitiful glances and were whispering as you were escorted by the Matra.

Once you arrived at your destination you were led into the General Mahamatra’s office. The Matra who had escorted you were bowing their head down once before they left you and Cyno, who was standing behind his desk, alone.

“There you are!” he stated, sounding surprisingly cheerful. Well, at least compared to usual anyway. He certainly didn’t seem sinister or as if he was out for your head.

He walked around his desk and came to a halt just in front of you. You slightly twitched as he put one hand on your shoulder and looked right into your eyes. This entire situation was odd, to say the least.

What didn’t help was that the warmth that radiated off his hand on your shoulder was entirely distracting to you right now and made the blood rush to your cheeks and your heart skitter in your chest.

“U-uhhh…” you stammered, unsure what to say or do.

“Do you still remember the special animated Genius Invokation card of Tighnari you got me last month?”

What? Was something wrong with it?

“Uhm… yes, of course, I do.” you reply, uncertain as to where this was leading.

He nodded as his lips curved into a small smile. “Follow me.”

You trailed behind him out of the Akademiya and along the streets towards the outskirts of Sumeru city. You remained silent the entire way, intimidated and unsure about his intentions. You couldn’t help but wonder where he was taking you and whether he was intending to exercise his judgment where no one was able to bear witness to it.

He came to a halt next to a small, run-down house at the border of the city and leaned against the fence there, crossing his arms over his chest and gazing below himself. You cautiously came to a halt as well, making sure you maintained some distance from him.

“So… w-what did I do?” you carefully inquired.

“Well,” Cyno cleared his throat as if he was struggling to find the right words. He stepped a little closer to you once again, taking your slightly trembling hands in his. “You stole something.”

“What? I did n–”

“You stole my heart.” he interrupted both your words and ability to form clear thoughts.

You parted your lips with the intention to say something but every word seemed to have died in your throat. You knew he was one to often speak cryptically so you were uncertain about the true meaning behind his words.

“What?”

He took a deep breath as if he was preparing to say something impacting before pointing toward the fence he had been leaning on with a dead-serious face.

“I fence-y you!”

At this point, you couldn’t help but chuckle. The hilarity of this entire situation was unbelievable. Not only did he have you worried sick he also chose to confess to you after years of pining with some stupid pun.

You quickly pulled him in by his neck and pressed your lips softly against his, successfully stopping him from explaining his joke. The feeling of his lips on yours was something you had dreamed of for so long. When he slung his arms around your waist the endorphins rushing through your bloodstream made your head swim and you felt as if your heart was about to burst out of your chest. You wondered if he felt the same.

“That was supposed to be my gift to you,” he remarked with a smile, leaning his forehead against yours. “but you beat me to it.”

You playfully punched his chest with a chuckle. “Idiot. You have no idea how much you had me scared to death with this entire scheme of yours. I fence-y you, too”

“Allow me to make it up to you again. Do you like raisins?”

You questioningly raised an eyebrow at him, wondering what he was up to this time.

“No? How about a date, then?”

Someone seriously needed to remind you again why you fell for this guy.

HEIZOU

You were walking through the streets of Hanamizaka to run some errands when you bumped into your long-time friend aka. the best detective in town. Or maybe even in the entirety of Inazuma.

“Would you look who it is!” you perceived the familiar voice coming from your right.

You turned your head only to spot the familiar tuft of auburn locks and the pair of mischievous green eyes that always made their owner look like he was up to no good.

“Heizou!” you cheered, hugging him tightly.

“It’s a good thing I run into you actually. I’m onto something and you’re just the person who could help me out.” he remarked.

“Oh, is that so?” you asked stemming your hands on your hips proudly, raising an eyebrow at him.

“Indeed.”

“So, what do you need from me, Mr. Detective?” you tease.

“Alright. So, as you may or may not know it’s White Day. I’m looking for a present for someone since I’m going on a date, and I want to get something for them.” he explained.

You had to try your hardest to not drop your smile. It almost faltered just now, but you couldn’t let your disappointment show. He didn’t know you had feelings for him, so to him, you were still nothing more than his best friend. Obviously, he would come to you with something like this. It’s also on you for not telling him about your feelings for him, too.

As much as your heart ached while thinking about it, you simply had to try to be a supportive friend in this situation. Even if it would most likely prove to be a challenge. Both for your heart and also to hide your dislike about this from him, since he was generally very perceptive. It was in the job description after all and he was one of the best in his field.

“So what do you say?” he interrupted your train of thought. “Will you help me?”

“Sure!” you agree, faking a smile.

You followed him through the streets of Inazuma City walking past several restaurants and storefronts continually catching yourself getting lost in your own thoughts while he was talking.

Your mind was way too occupied with reproaching yourself for not opening up about your feelings. Would you still be able to look him in the eyes when you soon saw him with someone else by his side? Or would you be strong enough to still be as close to him as you are now, despite your aching heart? These were questions the future you would have to eventually find answers to, but for now, you decided you should focus on helping him.

“Which restaurant would be a good option for a dinner date?” he pondered tapping his chin with his index finger.

“Well, I do like Uyuu Restaurant just across the bridge from here. But then again, it tends to be rather crowded on holidays. So maybe Kiminami Restaurant instead? And quite honestly, the food is also better there in my opinion.” you advised.

“I see. Great!” Heizou cheered writing some things down in his notebook.

“So…” he began again after he was done taking notes. “Now for the present. I have no clue what to get them, yet.”

“Well, what a lousy detective you are if you can’t even sneakily ask them about what they would want.” you teased.

He raised his eyebrow and crossed his arms in front of his chest, acting playfully offended at your remark.

“Hey now! No need to get personal! Besides, that would only be the last resort! Anyway, hypothetically speaking. Imagine I’d get you something for White Day. What present would you want?”

For Archon’s sake, did he really have to have you imagine that? Getting a present from him on White Day would be a dream come true so he could practically get you anything and you would be head over heels for him all over again. But naturally, you couldn’t just outright say that.

“I don’t think this should be about what I would want. You should consider what they could want instead.”

“Hmm. I see your point. I could just ask them directly, I suppose?” he proposed tapping his chin as if deep in thought.

“No numbnuts! That’s not something you just ask them. It’s supposed to be a surprise, you know?”

“But then it may be even more important if you could give me an idea knowing what you would want. To gather some… inspiration, basically. I have to consider all possibilities after all.” he lightly bumped his finger on your forehead and smirked slyly. “So what would you want… jewelry? books? something to decorate your home with perhaps? Or maybe–”

“I fear I may not be of much help. I genuinely wouldn’t know what I would want.” you quickly interrupted.

Aside from wishing to be the object of affection of the man in front of you. But it was probably better if you buried that hope alongside your feelings for him once and for all.

What you were dying to say to him for a long time, had died in your throat the moment he told you he was going on a date. And as much as you honestly wanted to help him with this, you couldn’t recommend him something in good faith when it made your heart painfully throb the way it did right now.

“Hmmm.” he pondered looking at the ground with crossed arms. “That’s a shame, I’d immediately know what I’d want.”

“Oh? And what would that be, Detective?” you replied cheekily, quickly trying to distract yourself from the aching feeling in your chest.

“You.”

“What?” you falter.

“Do you happen to be free later?”

“Y-you–?”, you stammered.

“I set you up? Hmm, I suppose you could say I did. Sorry about that, but I had to find something out first.” he hummed, leaning in a little closer with a smug smile before whispering in your ear. “And I’m pretty sure I connected all the dots by now, did I not, sweetheart?”

CHILDE

When you have your first child, Childe is over the moon. He will constantly be next to you and your child in the first months of his life, not wanting to miss any of the days of his son's life.

He's a wonderful father, you can tell for sure when you see how gentle and caring he's with his child.

But everything changes when he really realizes that caring for a child isn't an easy task. He notices this when he comes home from work hoping you will hug and kiss him, warming him in your arms, but no. You hug your son, not Tartaglia.

The child narrows his eyes in a funny way and reaches out to the man with his small hands, and Ajax thinks that for the first time your lack of attention can go unnoticed.

But when this is repeated again, Childe is no longer in the mood for jokes.

He literally acts like he's a child here (you could say that's the best pun).

Initially, you didn't notice his sidelong glances in your direction when you held your son in your arms, but when your husband shamelessly took your child in his arms, put him in the cradle, and with the most upset face, he sits you on his lap, burying himself in your chest, you understood that something happened to him.

"Ajax, do you want to tell me anything?" You ask.

"No, let's just sit like this for five minutes." His voice sounds pleading, and you think that he's slightly sobbing.

He will pout and make faces, because this is his way of showing you that he's upset or unhappy. Please don't make fun of him, he just wants your attention.

At this time, he's very clingy, so it isn't possible for you to get out of Tartaglia's arms. You just need to relax and give the man some of your caress, which he missed so much.

When you refuse his help, he usually reassures you and sits you on his lap, offering to rest for a while. When he lacks your attention, Heizou usually doesn't let you out of his arms under any pretext.

“Ei I’m thinking of planning a girls only getaway at an Inazuma hot springs? Would you and Yae Miko like to help me out?”

The two are immediately beaming and receptive to the idea. Any chance for you to spend more time in Inazuma is quickly snatched up. As you sit with the two lovely ladies, planning out who to invite, where to host the outing, you explain to them that you’d rather keep this event private. If word got around(especially to the other nations) that you were holding an exclusive get together in Inazuma(at an hot springs no less) you’re afraid some nosy guests might try to peep in on the conversation. The two swear to you they’ll keep their lips shut but as your invites go out rumors just tend to spread. Now every woman in the nation of eternity would love to attend this private get away, just to get an opportunity to speak to you their goddess one on one. And of course there are those with a little more devious intentions of seeing their beloved goddess in such an exposed state.

Oh and of course once the word gets around to the boys, the absolute disappointment on their faces plus the swirling curiosity. A trip with just the girls? What will you speak about that you don't want any male ears to hear? Is it about them? Are you going to speak about them in private?

(Heizou not so subtly asking Sara what was said on this trip. Thoma sneakily listens in to conversations any of the women have on the estate that even mention your name. Itto loudly and desperately begging Shinobu to tell him where you are holding this outing so he can just, you know, not subtly spy on your conversations.)

Despite the rumors still floating around, you follow through with this little getaway plan. With extra reassurance from Yae Miko that if she catches any peeping toms she'll be sure to zap them.

And despite some of the girls being more nervous to be so up close and personal with you, others are just jumping at the chance to see you so laid back and vulnerable. And the steam from the hot springs just seems to melt away your walls, as the night goes on you find the conversation drifting to…romance. You tell Yae Miko how you love to write sappy cheesy romance novels and she’s more than happy to give some of your rough drafts a read. You playfully start to run your hands through Kirara’s damp hair just to hear her purr and now suddenly Yoimiya is asking “Me next! Me next!”

It isn't until you sheepishly say “Ah well despite writing about romance a lot I’ve never actually been in love or slept with anybody.” that an audible pause washes over the group. The deer scare making a loud echoing “clink”.

Now they all begin to coo and question you.

“There’s no way no one hasn’t fallen head over heels for your Grace yet?! You must be like thousands of years old, surely you’ve stolen someone’s heart” Yomiya loudly proclaims.

“Aww so you’re saving yourself for your one true love, how cute.” Yae Miko insinuated.

“When you say it out loud its embarrassing-”

“Has anyone caught your eye yet your Grace?” Sara asks a bit too calmly as she and Ei eye you down with anticipation.

The girls continue to grill you with nosy questions “What’s your ideal type?” “Do you prefer men or women more?”

And you answer them with giddiness, happy to spill your life long dreams of getting married and having a family of your own one day.

“Ah, so you desire to get married and become a mother?...” Yae Miko vocalized aloud, wondering what this would mean for the whole of Tayvet.

“I know it's a silly little dream of mine…”

“It's not silly at all, your Grace!” Yomiya cheerfully chimes in. “If you have your heart set on someone let me know and maybe I can set up a huge fireworks display that spells out I love you.” She giggles and Kirara nods in agreement.

Thanks but I don't really want anyone to play matchmaker…

The rest of the night goes on with laughter and drinks. The women feeling blessed to see this vulnerable side of you. You assume the conversations you had with the ladies will remain private but…it seems like someone has loose lips.

Soon days after the trip, rumors start to pop up.

“Ah didn't you hear our dear goddess is still a virgin, as pure as a lily kissing the sun’s rays for the first time.” “I aspire to have the same chastity as her.” “I heard she’s specifically looking for a husband because she wants to have kids.” “Surely if she chooses a man from our nation that means she’ll permanently reside here right?”

Kazuha was panicking at your state of mind. You were off the side of the path/road, hugging your knees and absolutely sobbing. "Y/n! Y/n!" he shook your shoulders franticly. Now, usually he's pretty calm but your the type of person to get into some deep shit whenever your alone. You looked up at kazuha, teary-eyed. This guy with his weird sense of smell could immediately smell the strong stench of alcohol on you. "My lovely and pretty boyfriend has come to save me again..." you pulled him down with a hug as he collapsed onto you. worried about hurting you he attempted to free himself, but drunk y/n is hella fucking strong, like the equivalent of being on steroids. "y/n i dont wanna hurt you or crush you..please let go.." You were not having it. "My darling kazuha..youre so fucking pretty.." you cry even harder. "how can a guy be prettier than a girl?!" this man's shoulder was drenched with tears. and despite being drunk, you noticed his shoulder was wet, so you switched to the other fucking shoulder. "Why do i have the muscles and you have the face?!?! shouldnt it be the opposite?" you cried even harder. like-damn.. kazuha looks like he jumped into the ocean and came out. admitting his defeat, kazuha now only sought to comfort you. "hey..shh..theres no need to cry love, you know i think your the prettiest girl out there right?.." he patted your head softly, whispering only the loveliest of compliments in your ear, until you fell asleep.

Kaeya laughed. This little shit knows he's gorgeous and practically flaunts his beauty, but seeing you insecure about it made him a bit sad, so why not cheer you up? "Y/n...your the woman I want to marry and you think I'd fall for someone who's not on my level?" He grins teasingly, as he places a finger on your chin and lifts your face up. "If anyone, and I mean anyone tells you otherwise, just tell me ok babe?" he peppers you with kisses, and stops you from making a mess in the tavern..If his brother were to find out, he'd for sure kick you and him out. "Kaeya, my beloved, the love of my life..." you slurred, "please stop using such a cringy name.." You were falling asleep, tired from blabbing on how pretty he was. After all it never hurt to hear such compliments from you. "Well," he smiled at you with love, "I'd like to call you my wife soon."

Heizou was currently walking just outside of inazuma city, after the tenryou commission recieved multipule complaints, he had over heard that it was near the place you'd like to hangout, he got curious and decided to check it out himself. (the commission were flabbergasted asf, well i suppose if its you then its a whole different story) And here you were, sitting on one of the larger branches of a tree crying loudly. Like...sobbing hysterically. He was surprised to say the least, you usually were quite happy go lucky. He studied you, noticing the bottle in you hand, as well as the flushed expression on your face. Just how much did you drink? You had finally noticed your curious boyfriend studying and observing you. "My pretty boyfriend the love of my life..." you slurred. suddenly, you shot down from the tree and charged at him, engulfing heizou in a tight embrace. "Woah! y/n are you alright?" he laughed, you were quite harmless when you were drunk, though that did leave you defenseless and made him a bit worried when you were without him. "you bastard..." you seethed in anger. "What the fuck is your skin routine? how are you so gorgeous? perfect? i love you soooo much heizou.." To be honest, he never recieved lots of compliments, as he was usually deemed annoying. perhaps he was good at masking it, but boy his insides were practically on fire. He loved you to the ends of the observable universe and back. he would gush at every compliment you gave him. "Y/n...you are the absolute best thing that could've happened to me, sometimes I feel like I dont even deserve you. You are the prettiest person i have ever known, and you make me the happiest. I love you so much." ok...so now he's tearing up. you, still drunk but still as in love with this lovely man as you are sober, made sure he felt loved on your walk home.

Venti is girlypop already saying every compliment that comes to mind, hell this guy is about to sing about how much he loves you and how gorgeous you are for hours, EVERYWHERE. the whole mondstat shall know how much he adores you. Thats because he's also drunk!! <3 You honestly, and swore, that you would watch him incase he does something stupid, but here you are, drunk (venti the lovely drunkard is hella good at convincing you to do stupid stuff with him.) and complaining how absolutely magnificent his face is. Although it is his deceased friends face, he takes it as you would get along with his deceased friend, and that makes him happy. a bit self concious though when you mention his physical features,(you dont just like his looks right?...right?) but he tries his best to stay positive. You know he's the anemo archon, but not that he takes on the looks of dead people. You suddenly burst into tears. "Venti i'm SO SO SORRY.." drunk venti is confused, flabbergasted, confused pikachu face kind of emotion. "Heyyyyyyy dont cry you'll make me sad to" he pats your head, a bit roughly since well he's drunk. way too much alcohol for an archon to drink. "Your pretty y/n verrrrrrrrry pretty." you shot up and look at him. "No! thats *hic*not why im *hic*crying!" you cried too much, to the point where you were hiccupping and couldnt breath (idk how to really describe it but yeah) "I made*hic* you s*hic*ad!" did you notice? In that moment, venti started to sniffle. So you noticed every little detail, even when drunk? Oh how he loved you so much. He was so so thankful to have you by his side. Now...this all happened at the angel's share, you guys were definitely banned from coming there ever again.. not even after paying off venti's rather expensive tab.
