The Mummy 2017: The End Of The Dark Universe.

Given my ability to continue this story saga can only retch this far, I've decided to skip directly to the ending. Although not nearly as detailed and thrilling as I hoped it would be, this dark happy ending complete my original goal, of seeing the most interesting characters receive the screen time they desrved, and for once having the monster win at the end.

Obviously this too perfect ending is devoided of the challenges, character growth, and plots, that such a story commands, so it's not nearly as satisfying as it should have been. However give this univers got scrapped after only 2 films, this is the closest we'll get to seeing it's full story being unfolded.

QOTD: What's the last book that wasn't what you expected? I was in the mood for some holiday horror and picked up Secret Santa by Andrew Shaffer during a quick trip to Barnes and Noble to buy a gift. What really attracted me to this one was that it involved the publishing industry and the horror genre in the 1980s, as well as possible possession and a Secret Santa. I was really excited to see how all these pieces were going to be put together in the story. Sadly, this one missed the mark for me. Characters help me stay connected to the plot, but in this instance, I was more interested in the plot than any one the characters. Everyone, including the main protagonist, was just so unlikable. I really just wanted to get to the end of the book and see the mystery unravel. Hazing and disrespect at work would not ever be something I would tolerate but apparently this was the vibe that was normalized. I normally don't slow paced stories but the pacing dragged and the main mystery didn't kick off until 75% into the book. By then I was annoyed with the excessive 80s references and complaints about the publishing industry. It's 2022 and it seems like some things haven't changed. If you're looking for a quick read that doesn't require much investment, then this might work for you. As for me, I need more character development and more background on the mysterious object.
