"HQTAS not having the balls to permanently kill Joker off continues to be one of its biggest faults and I will not forgive them for that."
Their biggest fault is causing the upsurgence of casual pro Joker posts in Harley's tag in light of episodes showing him being "normal" and "based" and "wow look at him! being a socialist! and wanting healthcare!"
wow! it's almost like I don't really give a shit what political stance this domestic abuser takes in this show called Harley Quinn, ya know, the name of the ex he violently and graphically abused throughout the entirety of their relationship?
But oh! Whatever! if he's turned over a new leaf, Who cares! The past's the past's and the writers would rather redeem him! For some stupid ass reason! (Spoiler alert: It's because he's popular and they're cowards)
So let's forget how he literally murdered Poison Ivy!
& forget how he tortured her crew! And planned to have them publicly executed ! Lol!!

That was last season.
In episode 12.
While he had a Girlfriend.
He has not owned up to his own actions.
He's not some Reformed Domestic Abuser who's long since changed, shown he's changed and is sorry for what he did because he has not even taken accountability for the fact that No, violence wasn't a "hallmark of their relationship." It wasn't some quirky occurrence to look back at with a sigh of fondness.
Abuse was the staple of their relationship. Abuse that was inflicted by his fucking hands.
The Joker is a monster.
Harley Quinn: The Animated Series version of him is one just as well.
Even just from the part of the cycle we saw from Season 1, he was absolutely at his worst. It's not even like they toned it down for this, they built him up to be the monster that he is and then tried to backpedal and are now pretending he's just a completely different dude now that he's not with Harley.
News Flash, but Harley wasn't the first woman Joker's manipulated into helping him while simultaneously leading them to believe they were mutually falling in love
She's just one of the only survivors.
Because that's what she did. For years. Survived.
And sorryyyy, but I ain't exactly known for looking past The Joker's abusive transgressions and I'm sure as shit not starting now just because he's had a pitifully rushed "redemption" arc with some poorly iced He's A Socialist frosting on top.
Or am I supposed to pretend like in Season 1, Episode 8 he didn't put his manipulation skills to full use and, to add insult to injury, knowing he was going to push her out of the plane, he still kissed her.
Multiple times.
He initiated the kiss. He moved down her neck.
There was no fucking reason he needed to do that. It was just another thing he knew he could do to hurt her.
He pushed so many lines in that episode and then immediately shoved her out of a plane.
He relished in it.
Knowing how much trust she'd just put in him, how much she'd let her guard down and trusted him. She just admitted she dreamed of these moments, of escaping with him.
Because he had abandoned her so many fucking times.
Harley: I used to dream about this moment.
The Joker, laughing amusedly: Oh, Harley, I couldn't leave you on the boat.
I need you.
And then he kissed her! He fucking kissed her!
The Joker: For this.
He pulls her in and repeatedly kisses her.
Harley, making happy noises of approval and giddiness as she kisses him back.
The Joker, quietly as he kisses her neck: That's it.
Batman appears next to them, but Harley's none the wiser as she's gazing happily up at him.
The Joker: And this! Aha Ha Ha Ha!
He violently shoves her through the door of the plane into open air, cackling maniacally.
And she trusted him.
Harley trusted that this time was different. Because she wasn't his henchwoman anymore, she wasn't Her anymore. This was different. She'd escaped with him! They were on equal grounds now...
He respected her. She was important. She was a part of The Legion of Doom. She was a big shot now.
And that's exactly what he meant to do. Because he knew he had to this time, he had to lure her deeper. He had to slather the love bombing on thick to get her to drop her guard.
He had to pretend he was fine with them being equals.
So he did.
He pretended and he acted and he played her. He was cruel.
The mask did have cracks, it absolutely did. It angered him having her correct him and it angered him having to pretend he found her to be a master equal to him.
The Joker: No, I believe it's the student becomes A Master equal to the original master, but not with more mastery than that master.
It was something he couldn't pretend for a moment to believe. He couldn't even lower his ego enough to say a quote correctly "The student becomes the master." because he does not value her as equally.
And after love bombing her all evening long, after watching her drop her guard.
After she admitted she'd dreamed of these moments of escaping with him. After he kissed her.
He shoves her out of a plane once Batman has caught up with them.
Grinning like a maniac.
He knew, he always knew. He enjoyed what he did to her and he's never owned up to anything.
Hurting her is a game to him. He enjoys it. He's always fucking enjoyed it.
He murdered her best friend. Happily!
He captured her remaining friends and tortured them. He planned to hold a public execution.
He wanted to entirely isolate her so she'd have no other choice but to return to him, cause there's no other options if he kills them all.
And, then this part.
This is the entire reason this post isn't a reblog because I don't think just making gifs of this scene does it justice in terms of how sinister he sounds so:
The Joker, chuckling: I want you to put this on.
Cackles darkly before throwing it at her.
Come on, remember how much fun you had in that costume?
Harley: No... I didn't have fun... You were the one having fun. It wasn't till I got away from you that I realized how deeply unfun being with you was!
So I would rather blow myself up and take you with me then go back to being your sidekick and wearing that fucking costume!!
The Joker: So, how about you make this easy and put. The Outfit. On.

all of this happened in Season 1.
He says that in Season 2 folks.
Again.
Abuse was a hallmark of their relationship. On his part. He was abusive.
That's not what he said. And he said it with a sigh of "ah, good times" vibes
He looks back on his abusive actions with fondness.
He found humor and pleasure in hurting her and thinking back on it is a good memory for him. It's not a Bad Thing he did that he's remorseful for because all those memories are things he views as good moments.

He didn't do any of this because he had beef with Poison Ivy, or any of the members of her crew individually.
It all had to do with hurting her.
To get one up on her.
He knew Ivy was important to her.
He knew Ivy was a threat to him when it came to achieving his end goal of erasing Harley completely. So he killed her.
He knew hurting her crew would hurt Harley, he knew that having them there would be a failsafe because while he will hurt them, she won't.
Which means her suicide mission of blowing herself up and taking him with her wouldn't work. He knew that when he let her upstairs. The second she was in that room he had essentially defused the bomb.
Cause he knew she'd never take the crew down with her purposefully.
And then when he gets what he wants, she puts on that fucking costume, he doesn't just end it there.
No.
No.
He decides "let's try n break her heartstrings for old times sake" and pulls the love bombing shtick once again.
She doesn't fall for it, but pretends she does so she can get in close to stab him.
The Joker: You were always so unoriginal, stealing my ideas!
But
He was fully going to kill her even if she did fall for it.
Even if she was completely on board with his bullshit, with all the horror he'd done in the past few episodes towards her friends. Even if she was happy to overlook all of that cause he said the right thing, he plucked the right strings and had her swooning.
He was going to stab her.
It didn't matter.
He was going to do it again.
The Joker had no reason to try and woo her back in (What He Believed To Be) the final moments of her life.
He did it because he thought it would be funny to see the tears in her eyes as she realized he had hurt her again.
As she realized he had stabbed her in the stomach.
That's why he did it.
He wanted her to love him again because he wanted to kill That Harley. The one who would feel the most pain from this, emotionally and mentally. He wanted to watch That Harley suffer.
Because he thinks it's funny. He finds pleasure in hurting her.
And this was going to be the final time, the last hurrah.
So he wanted to have her go out with a bang. A shot in the heart.
Because The Joker is a cruel, manipulative monster who gets off on seeing her in pain that he knows he caused.

The Joker is not remorseful for the trauma or suffering he caused her. And his political stance doesn't mean fucking shit to me. His rushed redemption doesn't mean anything, it doesn't change his actions towards Harley and his complete disregard for the truth of the matter. He's a fuckhead and he deserved to stay dead.

I have 4 main characters in Blood and Thorns, and they're all my children and I don't have a favourite (def. lying).
(Left to right: Rosalind, Marcus, Razi, and Frigga - chapter 13 of Blood and Thorns)
Frigga Thorneheart is the main character of the first book, and she's just the sweetest, femmyist lil thing. Physically little, she's like 5'2" lol. And she's supposed to inherit leadership of her coven, but she really doesn't want to. She wants to frolic in the grass and make flower crowns and do lesbian things! She's a prodigy and studied Illusion magic when she was away at school (which is thought of as very complicated and niche in this universe because of how it interacts with the brain), but she also picked up a herbalism hobby, surprise surprise. Unfortunatly, she's a people-pleaser, so she has a really hard time voicing her needs to anyone, something I have never ever ever had an issue with myself. Wouldn't know anything about that, nope. 😬
Razi Wood is the other main character and Frigga's love interest. So butch, so hot, makes incredible bread. She's non-magical servant, so Frigga's falling in love with her is sort of a bad idea. But Razi's a charmer, she's got the rizz (as the kids say apparently?), and she hates the bourgeoisie which is probably the hottest thing about her honestly. She's independent and lives by herself in one of the servants' quarters at Thorneheart Manor because her father passed a few years ago, but she's also guarding a broken heart and using that independence as a shield. Let's just say: trust issues, but we see some character development in the first book when she makes her decision. Razi is probably the best point of view to write from because she really is no-nonsense and doesn't put up with rich-people's bullshit, an attitude I admire and hope to exemplify one day.
Marcus Magnus-Monroe is the non-magical son of the coven's benefactor and is the person Frigga gets forced into an arranged marriage with. He doesn't know that, and if he did, he'd immediately call things off. He started out as an uncomplicated guy, and he's the sort of character you don't see very often because he had a wonderful childhood growing up, his parents were both great people and treated him so well, and he doesn't have any real trauma from before the age of like... 20? He's thought of by his social circle as a bit of an airhead/bimbo, and he got that reputation because of the way he behaved from the age of 20-23 (party boy, chronic man-hopping, here for a good time), but after his mother's passing at 23, he calmed down (after being smashed for a year) and got into the Family businesses. He's just a sweetie, the truest incarnation of the Golden Retriever Bisexual Boy there is, and he's so much fun to write.
Rosalind Bloodswell was the last character to be created for Blood and Thorns, and their creation fundamentally changed the story because they quickly became way too interesting for their own good. They were originally going to be a man, but I ended up putting them in the NB category for a lot of reasons. They're the Heir to Frigga's Family's Enemy Family, the Bloodswells which is a clan of necromancers. The family isn't popular, but not because of the death magic. They're thought of as conspiracy theorists, which Rosalind has done their best to distance themself from. They're the quiet, withdrawn type, the dark horse of the story, but behind the prickliness and the concrete walls they've constructed to keep everyone out, Rosalind is a sappy romantic that has been in love with a certain Golden Somebody for years. Rosalind is the reason Blood and Thorns has become a series rather than a one-off book, and out of my shorts, 90% of them feature Rosalind in some way.
This group of characters occupies approximately 90% of my brain's ram. A lot of that has to do with the fact that they embody two of my favourite relationship tropes (femme/butch and sun/moon), but I think it's such a fascinating group of opposites that I can't help coming back to them over and over! I just finished the second draft of Blood and Thorns: Restructure, which centers on Rosalind and Marcus the way that the original one focused on Frigga and Razi, so after I take a little break, I'm going to write the first draft of the third one: Blood and Thorns: Otherworld - which will feature the four of them equally (I hope). I'm excited to explore different aspects of these characters (Rosalind alone, Frigga when she was at school) as well as dynamics between characters that I've barely been able to glimpse at (Razi, the anti-bourgeoisie commoner, will have to team up with Marcus, one of the richest men in all of Ozelea (the country), and Frigga's friendship with someone we know very little about from school).

2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?
evil. evil question. why would you make me think about my multichaps. ok so i tried the intensive outlining thing, i really did, and it flopped so bad because i'm pretty sure i have adhd which, among many other things, means i need novelty in order to stay interested in a thing. but i also need STRUCTURE so i know where i'm GOING or i'll never FINISH so i have started doing this thing where i have the vague outline of what happens and then go from there. for without anesthetic, i had a pretty good idea of what i thought the first four chapters entailed before i ever sat down at the word doc, just so i'd have a measure of security behind this wildly ambitious idea. turns out it was only enough for three chapters and i am spinning my wheels a little on the fourth/fifth/sixth, but it's going so much better than my last multichap did, and i haven't abandoned it like my first. so yay! it's my own version of what i call the ann patchett method of drafting (see "the getaway car" in this is the story of a happy marriage for more details on that, dear mutuals who are not zanna). more adhd, but just rigorous enough to keep me from walking out. this seems to be working, but it's also nerve-wracking because oh no, what if i get ?? chapters deep and i've written myself into a corner? (the answer: girl calm down, it's fanfiction and you're supposed to be having fun)
4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?
i rifle through the fridge at 10pm looking for a very specific food that does not exist and then get mad at myself when i realize i am gonna have to write it into existence.
see also: my love for the characters (/horny and emotional). a desperate need for non-romantic sexually intimate relationships in media. upsetting plotholes in canon. deranged character dynamics. weird takes on popular tropes. religious trauma. family estrangement. being queer. i also read a lot of books and find plenty of sparks ideas juice inside them, usually in their style and execution. i looooooooove studying form and how it influences a book's plot.
7. How do you choose which POV to write from?
whatever best serves the story! and/or whatever i feel i can handle best in a given moment. for example, the first time i tried my hand at sex pollen (drown me in glitter, glitter and gold) i had no fucking clue how to write from a sex-pollened person's POV, so the answer was to stay in la'an's head the entire fic. that let me get really comfy with the story so that by the time i had to write her being all high on horny juice, it flowed much more easily than if i had started in una's POV, who's dosed from the start. also, it was a much better, funnier, and stronger fic that way. la'an's mortification really came through and allowed me to hit a lot of comedic beats i wouldn't have been able to hit due to una's temporary plunge into angst.
18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
i do all three lol. mostly during and after. sometimes i'll have one from the start and it will stick; other times it will change to something else halfway through. many many times i will come screaming into ur DMs complaining about being done with a fic but not having title tags or summary. i started keeping a file in my notes app of lines of poetry i love, and i'll occasionally plunder them for titles. i'll also yoink song lyrics (just give me trust and watch what'll happen), riff on character quotes or episode titles (without anesthetic, ad astra), or rotate the fic in my head until something appropriately vibe-y presents itself (dress me down and hold me open, aces wild, stitch)

𖤓 INTRODUCTION
Hello, and welcome to my blog! The name I use online is Esther, although I also go by Leigh or Vera. My main tag is Leigh's shenanigans ⟡.
I actually used to run a shifting account (my-reality-my-rules), but I'm not active on it anymore. This is an entirely new account—dedicated solely to writing (art as well, if ever). I haven't gotten around to updating my main over a year now due to a lot of personal reasons, but I felt confident enough to start again on Tumblr. So, here I am.
This blog is for the stuff I've written, original and otherwise. It's actually directly related to my old main, if anything, because some of the content I use in my fics were things I've mentioned in the past on that account. Feel free to browse through it if you so wish, although it's unlikely that I'll revisit it (and the sideblogs) at this point.
I intend to use this blog as a means to track my fics, and at the same time share them with people. Here's the masterlist. It's still quite short at the moment, what with most of what I've written being longfics and poetry, but that's another reason why I set up this new account. I was hoping to make more use of my ability to write, and pen things that aren't just the ones I've already made.

𖤓 WHAT I WRITE

๋࣭⭑ FANFICTION || ORIGINAL STORIES
Before anything else, and certainly before anyone ever calls me out for it again; I love writing in purple prose. That's not to say that I try to make everything I do about it—but I'm hung up about classic literature enough that I wanted to emulate the style of older authors as I write. That's just a heads-up for anyone who comes across my stuff, because God knows I've received many complaints about it. I don't mind the criticism, although the constant negativity got annoying for a bit.
Most of what I have are (admittedly) indulgent self-inserts. On that note, I mix my other passions (such as philosophy, which I'm majoring in) in with the fic(s) when need be. So long as I think themes can intersect, and it makes sense to me, I'll mishmash them together.
Also, I'm a huge fan of DD:DNE. No, I don't support those things in real life (duh)—but I absolutely love seeing it in fictional works. With that, I've taken to drafting my own pieces for it.

๋࣭⭑ POETRY
This is where it all began! Shoutout to my tenth grade English and Literature teachers for truly pushing me to pursue this. I don't think I'd've started writing fanfiction or other original works if it wasn't for them encouraging me to start doing poetry.
I just go where my mind takes me, in this case. Sometimes, I write poetry for fandoms; and sometimes, I write about my own life. As it goes, though; I'm more active in writing prose than poetry, although my poems are still up online as well.

When I simply don't have the motivation or the right ideas to draft up anything creative, I just jot down my thoughts. I have several journals here at home, although not all of what I've written made it in my fics or poetry (or otherwise). I plan to post a silly little compilation of them, though. Someday.

GENERAL INFORMATION: I'm willing to write fluff, smut, angst, and DD:DNE. I'm mostly versed in the latter two (lol childhood trauma for the win), but I think I can at least whip up a decent one-shot or so for the former two categories.
ON REQUESTS: I'm down to write anything, so long as I know I can do it. No limits for me. You can drop in the vilest little details in an ask, and I won't even blink. That being said, at least specify if it's going to be NSFW so I can tag it properly. ๋࣭⭑ FANDOMS
As of 2024, the most popular ones I'm indulging in include: Ace Attorney, Death Note, Harry Potter, Naruto, and Resident Evil (note: I've only gotten into RE fairly recently, so I might not take requests for this one as much as the others).
I like classic literature too, though I'm only writing for one old fandom at the moment. My main fixations include: José Rizal's Noli Me Tángere and El Filibusterismo, Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita, and Miguel de Cervantes' Don Quixote.
Although not often, I also enjoy consuming and doing a bit of RPF (which circles Historical Fiction, but I'm not too versed in it); and I mostly use this one to feed my delulu fantasies of Tom Hughes, Cillian Murphy, and Christian Bale. I've taken to classic rock bands too—mostly Metallica, Megadeth, and Guns N' Roses, though.

๋࣭⭑ TECHNICALITIES
POV: Second Person (especially for poetic flair) or Third Person (especially for canon characters). Unfortunately, I'm not as comfortable writing in the First Person perspective (unless it's something to do with poetry and/or journalling, or if it's truly necessary for the storytelling itself).
POSTING SCHEDULE: It usually takes me at least one week to finish 5k words. Depending on the number of requests I get, the queue might get slogged-up. Regardless, I hope to at least meet a quota of 5-10 per month. The worst case is if I take several months to finish—which is improbable, but not impossible.
OTHER NOTES: Just because you sent in a request, it doesn't necessarily mean that I'll be able to get to working on it in time—or that I'll immediately take to the effort of doing it. Putting in an ask/submission doesn't immediately mean I'll do it. That being said; I'll still do my best to work on anything dropped into my inbox ((:

How many wips do you have? What fandoms/pairings are they for?
Just the one! I’m basically writing a fic for the first time here with Funniest Person In The Room and I don’t want to overwhelm myself with any further fics considering I already have little time for just that single one :0
But yeh tfpitr is a Security Breach fic and the pairings will eventually get to Daycare Attendant x Reader
What are your favorite fics at the moment?
You know what!!! Every time I see people answer this question they seem to list the popular fics everyone already knows of?!? I basically check the Sun/Reader tag several times a week and read basically everything that pops up that seems interesting and has a fairly skilled writing style. So I will throw my current faves at you all :) they all are written very well and one even leans a fair bit into prose-style writing which I find enjoyable! Note these are all x reader’s cause that’s basically the only thing I read lmfao 🤣
What’s the Moral Here? - oh THIS ONE!!!! TOP fave at the moment. I love it a lot. The writing style is very descriptive and the way the author describes emotions in particular feels very raw, like it just HITS you aaahhhdhg Sun is fairly teasing and a little mean in this, but still pretty civil and there is a more friendly relationship growing here.
Celestial Syzygy - I found this one via @/echoingkarma’s drawings for it! I love when people doodle for their own fics fjsnfnsg. Sun’s his usual cheery self in this one, and the reader is such a sweetie omg. That doesn’t mean they just stand there and take shit though! There’s also a fair bit of interaction with the glamrocks, and I like how each of them is written! Some fun scenes such as reader getting hit in the head by a flying golf club. Lmfao
All Around the Mulberry Bush - Reader works in Parts & Service, gets to spend a good amount of time interacting with the Glamrocks as well as the Attendant :) A fair amount of Sun’s POV which I love to see hehe
Virus - Pizzaplex is being rebuilt after the events of the game. Reader is a roboticist/programmer who has been hired on to try to fix Moon’s virus. Sun is a cutie :) Reader does have mad anxiety though so this is definitely a slow-burn, they talk to Sun remotely until after Chapter 10 (I don’t remember the exact chapter number chsnfsg)
Lost and Found - post-fire if I’m remembering right? I need to re-read :v but either way, Pizzaplex has been abandoned for a VERY long time, you go in and find a veeeery broken Sun, who is still functional and briefly chases you around before you get hurt and he’s like oh shit sorry. Then you bring him home! Free cat lol. Anyway Sun is riddled with anxiety and trauma in this one and has some really unhealthy coping mechanisms. Moon is ‘gone’ for about the first half of the fic but Sun’s got a Moon plushie and it’s adorable and makes you sad af ;-; this one also has art at the bottom of chapters sometimes!

Hey wibble! I know you & @aemiron-main were talking about the eye thing recently, & how it may be tied to possession show that Henry’s being hurt by Virginia when supposedly he’d be using his powers. You guys mentioned that El doesn’t do the eye thing, and that that supports it being a possession/being-haunted-thing, i think? The thing is, El HAS—when she’s finding Will in the radio room at Hawkins Middle school in season one stands out, and a little when she’s channeling the Russian in her memories of Hawkins lab/papa, and even for a brief moment when she’s looking at the DnD board & setting it up/flipping it upside-down/pointing to figures as “will” versus “the monster.” Idk if that affects the theory at all, just thought I’d mention it! HI!! okay so i put a bunch of clips together comparing el, henry, and will and here’s the thing; el does close her eyes to focus her powers but she doesn’t engage in that same rapid eye movement we see with younger henry and possessed will. we aren’t give any close ups of her eyes in this state, but even when you zoom in it doesn’t seem that she rolls her eyes like that. the only time we’re ever actually given any similar shots of el to these REM shots are when she’s wearing a blindfold. either she does do that under the blindfold and for some reason that information needs to be hidden or it’s meant to show the contrast between what’s happening to henry and will vs what’s happening to her
em is coming up with a bigger theory regarding small details like this and how they relate to powers (specifically virginia’s)!! it seems as though this REM thing may not actually be a signifier of henry’s abilities but rather something else, because iirc he doesn’t do this as an adult and whatever that something is somehow affected will during his possession. i have my own theories about how the shadow and virginia are connected but em is doing a deeper dig than i am lmao
(there are a couple different theories surrounding grid imagery simply because it’s EVERYWHERE. the most popular theory, in a very simplified summary, is that it’s representative of henry’s childhood trauma with virginia (csa) and as a result we see it where he appears! i don’t have a specific tag for it, but i’m sure one of the other theory blogs has one. it’s a really interesting thing to break down because it’s everywhere from steve’s bedroom to the walls of the lab to max’s shirt when she gets vecna-ed to the dnd boards to owens’ shirts when he’s at the lab/running experiments. i’d like to do my own dive into it at some point)

after letting my thoughts sit for a while after finishing On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, i realize i’ve spent too much time on ao3 because this book (flowery title included) feels exactly like something you’d find for a popular m/m ship with tags like [ Drugs, Anal Sex, -character- Needs A Hug ]. just reduce the title to all lowercases and it’s all set!
but that said, while it does have its moments of “lol are you fucking with me right now”, i don’t regret spending time with it and would recommend it to any sad gay poc who want to read some flowery stuff about asian familial trauma and tragic boys in love

SHOCKED. by that kind of outpouring of love...i think that's the most comments i've gotten on anything EVER, and i was a minor zelda bnf back in like the mid 00s lol. it outstripped, with ease, the merlin fic, the nov 5 fixit fic, even the not easily conquered coda in which i cheated and piggybacked off of the original author's popularity. it has more comments than all of those COMBINED. absolutely blows me away every time i think about it.

scenes in the anime/manga
In the manga and anime, Dazai is portrayed as a womanizer and big flirt who uses his good looks and charms to manipulate women into getting what he wants. This can be seen in multiple different occasions—such as with Higuchi, the cafe barista (although it doesn’t really work 😅) and most importantly, the nurse.
It wasn’t shown in the anime, but in the manga it’s pretty clear that the author was hinting of some sort of sexual contact between Dazai and the nurse. My guess is that he seduced the nurse into giving him his phone.
“Perhaps if I’m in the mood”—I don’t think he was in the mood again lol.
Now, this is a pretty popular trait of his—using things to his advantage. Especially when it comes to flirting and sexualizing himself. He never attempts to get close with any of these women, or commits to relationships with them. Maybe he feels it wouldn’t be meaningful enough. Dazai doesn’t really do things if he finds no value in them.
port mafia backstory
As we know, Mori used Dazai’s intelligence and talents to get want he wanted and help the mafia in numerous ways. This involved killing, torturing, and other things. Dazai was taught to be strategic, efficient, and use opportunities to his advantage (just like Mori). But I feel like, along the way, there was also some sort of sexualization hidden there.
For example, when Atsushi and Kyouka started her first task at the agency to deliver this envelope, it gets delayed due to security stopping them. Kyouka’s first thought is to use her “womanly charms” and seduce the security guard to distract him and get past. She says that she learned these tactics from the Mafia.
She’s fourteen? Womanly charms?
I’m not saying it’s the most popular tactic in the Mafia besides torture/killing, but the Mafia does use its opportunities. There’s nothing morally right about the place, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Kyouka was taught about such things.
Since Dazai was Mori’s prodigy, I wouldn’t be surprised either if he learned a few tricks from him. However, Dazai does observe his surroundings so maybe he decided to utilize his good looks as advantage all on his own.
Chuuya describes Dazai as an “enemy to all women” and when they first partner up after years of not seeing each other, Chuuya threatens to give Dazai’s address to all the women’s hearts he’s left broken.
This can hint that he’s had multiple relations with women back in his Mafia days—meaning he’s been using these tactics since he was a young teen.
sexualization/hyper sexuality
Sexualization: a person’s value comes only from his or her sexual appeal or behavior, to the exclusion of other characteristics;
Sexualization is linked to sexual objectification. Obviously there are countless other ways to put this and definitions—but I think using the word “object” really fits Dazai. Early sexualization can lead to dehumanizing thoughts, which can be seen in Dazai.
Dehumanizing thoughts can lead to not caring about your well being or using your body however you’d like with barely any concern (either drugs, sex, etc). At one point in being in the Mafia, he lacked so much empathy for others and that definitely tied into having empathy for himself. To be kind to himself.
Him being manipulated into using these advantages is possible. Even though moments like these are played off as jokes, Dazai and Kyouka could’ve been exploited in such ways.
I do wanna mention hyper sexuality (that I saw in the irl Osamu Dazai when I read the book) but I’ll bring that up later.
yozo in no longer human
As I was reading the book, I noticed a lot about Yozo’s character. It is heavily implied that at a young age, he was sexually assaulted by the maids (men and women) in his house (I was unsure about that, but found out it was canon in the manga adaption by Junji Ito)
“Already by that time I had been taught a lamentable thing by the maids and menservants; I was being corrupted. I now think that to perpetrate such a thing on a small child is the ugliest, vilest, cruelest crime a human being can commit.”
“But I endured it. I even felt as if it enabled me to see one more particular aspect of human beings. I smiled in my weakness.”

The first time I read it and processed it, I got chills. Now I’m not saying this has anything to do with bsd Dazai, but it does explain a lot of things.
“Women found me in a man who could keep a love secret.”
Due to the sexual abuse in his childhood, Yozo grew up to be a huge “lady’s man.” This caused him to be hyper sexual, practically using his charms to get whatever he wanted from women. He formed many different relationships with them (that he found no value in) just for all of them to never work out. He made the same mistakes with women over and over again (it was pretty painful watching him get hurt and hurt others so much).
It was an endless cycle of seducing women, using them for either drugs or sex, forming some kind of meaningless relationship, getting hurt, and then doing it all over again. He was stuck.
He was afraid of women.
But maybe breaking their hearts has something to do with his past trauma. In some way, it’s taking back the control and innocence he was stripped of from his childhood.
In the manga adaptation, I was able to clearly see how he treated women. Sometimes even throwing himself onto them, randomly initiating sexual contact, etc.
Yozo’s relationship with women is so incredibly sad and heartbreaking.
conclusion
It was said in this post that Dazai would never be faithful or form a real relationship with a woman unless it was someone like Oda. And I agree. Women, to Dazai, aren’t necessarily objects but they really aren’t something he needs or wants in life.
He can be nice to them, make them feel good, form relationships, but at the end of the day it’s like there’s this huge avoid of empty space between him and the “female species.” So much uncertainty and words that will never be spoken because he cannot form a bond with another human being.
All I can say, fictional or not—he was just a child who was stuck in a terrible situation.

UHHHH I am technically, like, peripherally? I watched some seasons of the show like two or three years ago and since then have simply absorbed all content through osmosis, reading fanfiction that has canon events, and my sister telling me about the arcs of her fav characters lmao
so a crossover hmmm
First of all you'd have to like, establish whether bnha is an alternate universe or just The Future If No Apocalypse with quirks being traced back to the descendants of the kids born without mothers
So let's say it's that - the glowing baby was the "first quirk" but the truth is people had powers before that. But - well, the Umbrella Academy was obviously a marketing gimmick to those in the future! There were even comics based on them
In the future, you might find some of those comics in museum exhibits dedicated to depictions of powers in the pre-quirk era, but they're just fun depictions and much less popular than, oh, DC or MCU comics which are also in the exhibits!
End of s2 doesn't happen I guess in this au?? No sparrow academy at least lmao. So, the Umbrella Academy stop the apocalypse (again) and the Commission threat is? Neutralized? Whatever. They decide to jump back to the future
Five warns them that time travel is a crapshoot, that he has no fucking idea when they'll land beyond some nebulous "future" because Five can at least control the direction if not exactly how long
Also, Five is like. Super tired. Incredibly tired. Homeboy still has a healing gut wound, time traveled twice, has been jumping all over the place, gotten even more injured, experienced paradox psychosis, and managed to undo time all in the space of like, two weeks. There actually more than that but we don't have time to get into how fucking tired Five is from his ~Month of Hell
Like genuinely this is like putting someone almost delirious from lack of sleep in the driver's seat of a car and expecting to get to your destination in one piece
But hey, the siblings are like "do it uwu" and Five has sacrificed everything for them already so why not get behind the wheel again
So Five jumps them, and of course something goes wrong because Five has pushed his powers like a great big rubber band and honestly it was only a matter of time before he lost his grip and it snapped back to hit him
So here be the umbrella academy: spilled out into the future like a cup of bad coffee.
Five probably isn't in too good of shape tbh, like they're hundreds of years in the future (but hey at least confirmation of no apocalypse am I right) in a world full of superpowers and Five is like. bleeding from his ears and nose probably idk
Let's handwave a little bit - Reginald made them all polyglots so the squad all speak varying levels of Japanese. Allison is the best at it, Five is second best but tends to use more archaic words bc he had missions in Japan back when he was with the commission, and Klaus is third best.
(Ben is the worst bc he decided when he was 16-and-dead that he didn't have to do anything regarding lessons and maintenance and hasn't given a shit since - but also he's dead so)
So you have a bunch of weird adults with a bleeding child in like, an alley who have appeared from nowhere
so of course heroes get involved
Anyway, the squad get taken in and Five is conscious but like, barely? And he's not going to let himself get separated from his siblings again fuck-you-officer and there is a lot of confusion
anyway detective tsukauchi ends up getting involved and ends up having to hear this batshit story and be like "...truth." which sends all kinds of people scrambling because fucking time travel? Like yeah, it's been theorized to be a possible quirk but there's no recorded cases of any sort of time travel that is for more than 24 hours let alone hundreds of years
"I'm an adult." Five says sourly, "I just happened to be returned to my 13 year old body when I time traveled one time."
"True." Tsukauchi says, feeling his soul leave his body, but like. absently. the way he does when he's called in at 2am after getting off of work at midnight.
"I'm 58." Five says.
"Lie." Tsukauchi says, because this is a headcanon hill I will die on.
"I'm probably 58, but it was hard to keep track. I'm at least 50." Five corrects.
"True." Tsukauchi sighs like these six (seven? they keep referring to another sibling and Klaus said 'ghost' like that was fine and it registered as true and Tsukauchi is not nearly paid enough for this) are not giving him a migraine by just existing
on the bright side there's like, probably protocols in place for individuals who are Legally Chronologically Adults but thanks to quirks are Not Physically Or Not Mentally Adults with tests to determine if the individual needs a guardian or not
though i'm gonna be honest idk if Five would pass the test bc he literally cannot take care of himself at all, has never paid taxes or understands how to exist legally, and also his emotional maturity is stunted as all hell. also like. we don't actually know how much being in his thirteen-year-old body affects his mental state but yeAH Five is vibing
anyway Tsukauchi probably phones a friend on this bullshit because Time Travel Child alone is probably enough for the Hero Commission to be like "find a way to control and use it or nuke it from orbit" and that's not even touching whatever the fuck Klaus is doing (shit gets real once 'dead men tell no tales' stops being true) let ALONE Allison's whole deal
on the bright side like, at least Vanya isn't getting side-eyed that much bc Big Destructive Quirks aren't exactly unknown? if vanya wanted to i guess quirk suppressors exist for that until extensive training on how to control a super powerful quirk happens

there's probably some conflict with like, the hero commission wanting to get their hands on the time travelers?? but probably especially five and klaus as a) time travel and b) ghosts (the hc def has bodies they would like to stay buried)
five has a pavlovian reaction to anything with 'commission' in the name and hates them on site, probably plays into his age in order to become a ward of UA or something to protect him from the commission a little bit.
(this makes nedzu Five's legal guardian. aizawa has his resignation papers all prepped in a drawer marked 'in case of emergency' but let's be real, if nedzu wants to take over the world aizawa should probably be on the rat-bear's side of things :/)

i feel like as time goes by, five brings up trying to get home less and less. part of that is because like,,, genuinely what do they have to go back to?? Allison has Claire, but like. I'm 100% sure the first thing she did in the future was try track down Claire's records and found out Claire was like. fine. became an adult, had a family, probably became the ancestor of the first "quirked" kids who officially popped up after light baby. had a good life, died at an old age etc. etc.
they start settling into the bnha world with like, "we can always hop aboard the five express into where the fuck ever" as a plan Z if things go completely pear shaped (again)

If you can’t understand that ‘just mind the tags’ doesn’t mean SHIT when an author of a popular series that’s recommended by fans of the protagonist character as being about exploring his trauma from abuse and rape and finding catharsis through his recovery.....
Doesn’t actually tag that there’s going to be an eventual non-familial relationship between the protagonist and a character that most of a fandom regards as his brother no matter how you PERSONALLY view their relationship....
With this relationship not actually cropping up until almost 100K into the series, with hints that make incest survivors feel uncomfortable and troubled about the way the relationship between two characters literally referred to as family in the fic itself like, is starting to feel sexualized or turning in an incestuous direction, but not sure if this is actually in the text or just their own trauma cropping up and applying a skewed lens over the work in ways the author doesn’t actually intend....
And then bam, turns out it IS what the author actually intended all along, and just waited until dozens of thousands of words in to actually pull the trigger on that relationship with zero ACTUAL warning, and its like.
LOL well haha to any survivors who came to the series seeking catharsis but also happen to be incest survivors for whom an incestuous relationship will NEVER be something we view as healing or helpful, because incest’s damaging effect on a family unit and the way it so often turns the rest of the family to victim blaming is like, literally FOUNDATIONAL to our abuse and trauma.....
But of course, its not the author’s fault if this relationship is triggering in any way to readers who had invested themselves in multiple installments of the protagonist’s journey recovering from his trauma and healing, before seeing a familial relationship turn into a non-familial one and upheld as part of that healing journey rather than fracturing it further.
If they ‘couldn’t handle that’ and it was going to be negatively impacting to them in anyway, they should have stayed away from the series. They shouldn’t have started it in the first place. This is on them. They should have minded the tags.
Oh wait....
Except....
They did.
AND THE TAG WASN’T FUCKING THERE, BECAUSE THE AUTHOR DIDN’T WANT TO SPOIL THEIR PLOT TWIST.
Thing is, for all I know, the author very well could be a survivor themselves, healing and recovering through their exploration of the protagonist’s journey of recovery in fiction.
But survivors aren’t monolithic in our experiences, and you can be a survivor with a lot to say about one form of sexual abuse and trauma while still viewing something like incest through an ENTIRELY different lens than people whose sexual trauma is DIRECTLY TIED to incest as well.
And if you can’t exercise enough objectivity to understand that your work might not be the catharctic exploration you pitch it as to other survivors who also include incest survivors among the mix....
At least enough to prioritize giving them objective warning of where the series is headed over being concerned about SPOILING a PLOT TWIST for readers for whom that isn’t a concern or even on their radar at all....
I can still say your priorities are fucked there.
So, idk.
In conclusion, maybe people need to shut the fuck up forever about just minding the tags and treating them like a liability waiver that covers an author’s ass in case anything they write rubs someone the wrong way rather than out of genuine concern for how their depiction of a sensitive and controversial subject matter might actually affect people who view things differently than them or y’know, have different lived experiences.
Because your priorities as evidenced by your ACTIONS and by your SILENCE when criticized for these actions say literally everything I need to know in order to stay far away from that work and fans and defenders of it in the future, for my own mental and emotional well-being.
Too bad I and others of similar experiences and mindsets couldn’t have been warned in advance that this series was not for us and not the kind of catharsis we were actually looking for even if it was advertised as broadly reaching in the kinds of abuse and trauma it was exploring recovery from. By y’know....tags. And Trigger warnings. And genuine honest awareness and concern for how a work might be received by some of the very people who are having it recommended to them as something that handles topics like their trauma with sensitivity and care.
But, I mean. Spoilers. Its not like people who DON’T have inherent negative associations with certain subject matter should have to suffer, I mean, be spoiled about an entertaining plot twist, just so that people who DO have those associations can properly assess whether or not this fictional journey is for them to follow along with or best avoided instead.
Anyway. Guess I’ll leave it to fandom to decide if their priorities actually match up to their voiced concerns for the health and well-being of ALL survivors, or if they’re more just aligned with self-interest and focused on their own particular fictional interests above all else.
I’m sure the conclusion people arrive at will be the product of honest self-assessment rather than kneejerk and instinctive defensiveness.
But whatever. Sorry to bring everyone down and lessen your escapism enjoyment by asking you to honestly think about your impact on others. I’m gonna step back for a bit now and reflect on my own behavior and how I could lessen my own negative impact on fandom via my priorities and topics of interest and general mood.
Guess I’ll start by making extra sure to mind the tags and curate my own experience. I really have no one else to blame for so constantly finding myself bombarded with sensationalized or romanticized depictions of the very traumas I turn to fictional journeys in search of catharsis for. There’s no other explanation for why I see these things uncritically remarked upon and signal boosted every which way I look in fandom, than it just being MY fixation on these topics and these particular depictions of these topics that makes them so manifested and so heavily prioritized all throughout the fandom I’m only in BECAUSE of how closely I relate to a certain character’s experiences and narrative journeys.
Really, its my bad. I just need to reflect upon how its my own fault, and quite possibly a form of emotional self-harm or evidence of how much more deeply scarred I am than I thought, that I so often find myself in moods and mindsets like this, when I was just looking for a bit of escapism myself, or possibly some catharsis via a fictional character’s journey of recovery.
If only I had just minded the tag.
The non-existent tag that could have warned me this fictional road wasn’t one I actually wanted to go down and wouldn’t lead anywhere good for me.

Fandoms: Over the years there have been many fandoms I’ve held dear, but my recent work is in Dragon Age and Dear Evan Hansen. I have temporarily left DA for some fresh air in DEH and have been doing very well there.
Most Popular Oneshot: I actually have a tie for this one and surprisingly, they are from separate fandoms.
Permanent Ink from DA: Origins, featuring Alistair and my male Warden OC Zane Cousland is quite spicy and tender. If you like pining bi-Alistair and schmexy love interests, this one is for you.
For You I Could Be was my very first DEH fic and it’s taken the fandom by storm, which still shocks the pants off me. It’s a deviation from canon and focuses on Evan and Connor realizing they have feelings for each other. Read the tags though since triggering content is mentioned.
Most Popular Multichapter: I’m sure you’re all tired of hearing about Sun Touched and Find Me Well Within Your Grace, but they are tied yet again. Sun Touched is my Dwarven Warden novelization of DA: Origins with Sirra Brosca and Alistair. Find Me Well is a head-canon fueled prequel of DA featuring young Cullistair at the abbey.
I won’t bore you all with the details, but I am very proud of both fics. I hope to come back and finish them once I’m the right head-space to devote the time to them that they deserve.
Actual Worst Part of Writing: The plot and staying on target. I tend to get side tracked by character development at times and that can derail an entire story if I’m not careful. I’m also incredibly careful to not lose a character’s voice while trying to flesh out a whole new side of them in my work. It’s a delicate balance. I want to do them justice, so while playing with them in AUs is fun, I still want them to sound like “them” and not caricatures.
How You Choose Your Titles: Through blood, sweat, and typically numerous tears and hair pulling sessions. I like my titles to reflect the story, but not sound too fucking cheesy, and sometimes that feels like an impossible task. I try to avoid using song lyrics personally, but I have done it once or twice in a pinch, I won’t lie.
Do you outline: FUCK NO. I have tried and I can’t stick to them. I’m also the type that once I write it out, even in an outline, I lose interest in that particular piece. I need the scenes to be fresh and literally banging on the door of my brain so they flow properly. Everything is fixed/cleaned up in editing, but if the emotion is missing in the initial draft it takes a monumental effort later to keep it from ringing hollow. Sometimes the drafts can’t be saved, period, after outlining and I’ve scraped entire stories/chapters because of it.
Ideas I probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice: I have an entire folder of shelved DA stories in the wings that I’m not sure will ever see the light of day now. I’m hesitant to say “never,” but truthfully the more time passes the more likely that word becomes.
They include: (1) a modern carta/cop AU ft. Sirra/Alistair, (2) part 2 and 3 planned continuations of Find Me Well following Alistair and Cullen through DAI, (3) Varric/Charise Trevelyan DAI story full of intrigue and the House of Repose, (4) world weary veteran Grey Warden Alistair/Rylie Trevelyan DAI, chock full of dashing heroics and a swooning damsel in distress, (5) Cullen/Eryka Cadash DAI with lots of tension/angst due to the Carta & Commander angle causing friction [interpret that how you will, lol!] (6) a modern color soulmate AU with a unique twist ft. Cullen/Alistair (7) a Siren!AU ft. Sirra/Alistair and a cutthroat island of traitorous bitches (8) and finishing my incomplete DA stories. As a bonus, (9) there is a football AU for DEH that I started during NaNo, but it may end up in the scrap pile, too. I’m still picking at it, but meh, we’ll see.
Callouts at Me: Guilt.
Honestly, I know we do this for free and we have no obligation to write/complete these stories, but we all do it because we love it. Yet with each incomplete story, coupled with my rather abrupt departure from the DA fandom, my guilt has grown exponentially.
However, I can’t allow it to hold me back and continue to eat away at my soul. It keeps me from being productive and having a hope and a prayer of finishing what I started. If this means that I play in a new fandom for a while, then so be it. I wish I had more familiar faces to follow me there, but I understand it’s not for everyone and I would never make demands. Though, that doesn’t mean I don’t miss my usual readers and the comments I looked forward to, but I have relocated and I have to accept that. Just know that I still love you all and miss the fuck out of you.
Best Writing Traits: Emotionally evocative prose and creating realistically flawed characters are what I’m best at. My characters are not perfect, because who the fuck can relate to perfection? Who would want to? They are flawed, broken, dealing with a shit ton of trauma as best as they can, and generally bumbling through life. Yes, they may have a LI, but they are not “cured” by love. They are supported by an equally flawed person as they continue to stumble through life, though with fewer face plants than before because they have someone to (hopefully) catch them whenever they aren’t overwhelmed with their own crises. And making all the pain and growth as lyrical as possible is my favorite part.
Sometimes I nail dialogue, too, but more often than not that’s simply luck after hours of talking to myself and laughing/crying so hard I had to include it in a fic.
Spicy Tangential Opinion: Every single kudo, like, reblog, or comment is special. I know it’s easy to focus on the “quantity” of them - but each one represents a real person that one of my stories has emotionally resonated with. Every day we write and post we’re affecting real people behind our stats, which means we can treasure every single one. Talking about the numbers and engagement erases that fact, and I wish more people treasured every individual interaction for the meaningful gesture about their work it is. Each one is a little spark of ‘you are loved’ in the world. {Keeping this Manka because you summed it up beautifully! Bravo!}

If you dont mind me asking, I'm really curious about your opinion of kevaaron as its growing increasingly popular. From the perspective of pairing a (bi?) guy with someone who is homophobic in canon. Often times it seems like Aaron overcoming his homophobia is rushed so that him and Kevin can get together.
Hey! So this is actually a very interesting ask because it shows how prevalent fanon is, that even you anon have stated that Kevin is bi and aaron is homophobic.
Aaron's homophobia is complicated but in my opinion there, especially considering it is 2006 and he is a straight guy. He definitely shows signs of being the "I'm not homophobic just don't shove it in my face/do stuff like that so public" type of homophobia. He is often HC as ace, sometimes ace/aro to combat this flaw and make him more likeable in a similar way people do with Kevin's homophobia.
Thats right! Kevin is probably homophobic! He never says a slur like seth, but going off of context he is about the level of homophobic as aaron, but in a much more dismissive rather than disgusted way. He says "it would be best for neil to remain heterosexual" (not a direct quote but you get the idea) this line is often used as evidence that kevin is bi in a similar way that Aaron's discomfort is used as evidence for him being ace. This type of dismissal and belief that being queer is a choice, is harmful. I've been told by a family member to stay in the closet because my life would be easier, and thats by someone who doesn't think its a choice.
Ace aaron isn't nearly the level of fanon as Kevin is bi is. But the other common HC of kevin is that he's ace/aro as well.
Again, as always, people can headcanon and interpret and interact with canon however they want. I think its just good to notice the line between fanon and canon. Fanon is inherently self indulgent.
I like to keep Aaron straight and homophobic because I think its important to show, and how people who are homophobic aren't secretly gay/bi the whole time trope. Also, ace people can be homophobic. Anyone can be homophobic. Its mostly straight people, but lesbians, bi non-binary people, ace women, gay men etc can be homophobic. Each group of queer person experiences homophobia uniquely, lesbiphobia is not the same as mlm homophobia, which is often based in femphobia, misdirected trans misogyny, and misogyny. And in fandom/media mlm homophobia takes on a whole entire form of fetishization (which isn't always inherently sexual).
Now! For my opinion on kevaaron.
I dont like it lol.
People can like what they like but personally if I don't like something I filter the tag and I have kevaaron filtered because I don't want to see it.
I think there is over emphasis on mlm ships with no chemistry over wlw ships that are arguably with more chemistry.
Overcoming your internalized homophobia is a real thing a lot of gay men have to face. And its hard, its really hard. And its not a thing to be rushed. A lot of peoples first gay relationship is really unhealthy because of this, dating someone who is closeted or freshly out, or being closeted or freshly out yourself is taxing.
Aaron and Kevin have less chemistry than renee and dan, (nora originally mentioned wanting them to maybe have something between them)
Most ships with aaron in my opinion seem to be based in the fact that it would be so cute for this short grumpy boy to be with someone so much taller, it also seems like a work around a lot of times with andrews trauma because you have his twin there.
Ships with aaron and matt are kind of funny to me because about all they share is a history with drugs. That's about it. Aaron is grumpy and matt is... actually not as sunny as fandom depicts him he's a lot more chill and less bubbly in canon but eh thats not really based in anything bad besides simplifying characters for fics and fandom.
I've never read a kevaaron fic but I wouldn't be surprised if they are rushed feeling like you said.
I still have internalized homophobia lol, and I've been out for 6 years now. its not an easy thing to undo.
Again I will state fandom is inherently self indulgent, I just also think that the core messages of the canon shouldn't be ignored and that people shouldn't say x charcters doesn't even have that flaw in canon. Characters are always multi faceted and complex if they're well written. They don't always have to be likeable. That's what makes them good, makes them foxes.
Its okay to like a character who is homophobic in canon and HC what you want, i have so many ideas for seth who I love, but I also want to make sure I dont fall into the "psych he wasn't a real homophobe-he was queer the whole time!" Trope because it inherently blames gay people for the homophobia they experience by making it a inter community issue where gay people just need to learn to not hate themselves, and "hahaha wouldn't it be so funny if this homophobe was gay, that'll show him" as if being gay and hating yourself and others is... a good thing to wish on others and the gay community. The truth is some, in fact most, homophobes are straight people.
That being said I have a headcanon that kevin is bisexual, aromatic, but is with thea his whole life despite neither of them not being very happy but content enough, he never realizes hes aro or bisexual, and it follows basically Nora's EC after that. And aaron is straight and haloy with kaitlyn but sometimes wonders if he held on so tightly and married her just because he already put in all that effort and not to prove his brother right when breaking up with her, but thats only when he's depressed otherwise he's happy and chillin.
There is a very low number of openly bi men compared to openly bi women "how many men would be bisexual if we let them" is a cool quote from tumblr, and an accurate one.
My headcanon isn't a happy one but in my opinion fits with canon pretty well which is why I like it. A lot of people don't ever fully find out who they are. That's the reality, and my fandoms elf indulgences are me giving myself more realistically canon "content" in my opinion. Thats how I self indulge but not everyone has to.
People who like kevaaron or aaron and matt, do you show the same support for renesion? For dan and renee, dan allison ? If not, why? They have the same level of chemistry, if not more.
Just some questions to wonder why you ship the things you do and why the bar for mlm chemistry is so much lower than it is for wlw chemistry.

Favourite story you’ve written so far: With 87 posted fics and 2 more currently on the go, I can’t possibly answer that. That’s cruel. Lol.
Fic you were nervous to post: This, on the other hand, is easy, haha! Three stories, all for very different reasons:
1. The A.G.R.A Complex. This was my first Freebatch fic and I thought I might well be burnt at the stake for even writing any RPF. The notion for this story caught my muses’ attention, though, and they eventually forced me to write it against my will. I can’t be held responsible. Lol. It still amazes me that people continue to read it to this day. The notion: Martin and Benedict are friends. There’s a car accident and Martin suffers a fairly mild brain injury. While in his coma, dreams the entire first three seasons of Sherlock, which in this universe, haven’t happened. The nature of the brain injury is such that he keeps shifting mentally between the reality of who he and Benedict (and Amanda) are, and seeing himself and everyone else as their characters in the Sherlock universe. When I posted it, I intended it to be left up to the reader whether to see it as kind of an AU to actual reality, or else a prequel to the filming of Sherlock. When I finally decided to write a sequel, it meant that I had to be the one to make that clear, which made it a prequel. It became a three-part series, with the second part set during and just after the filming of series 3 (the dodgiest in the moral sense, since it dances around and into real life events), and then the third story takes place ten years later.
2. The Final Proof. Why? Easy. Major character death, and it’s Sherlock. That’s clear from about the first sentence, I think. I had written At the Heart of it All, which features Sherlock running an experiment using the hearts of people who lived lives where they had loved and been loved, and people who hadn’t in an effort to prove his own ability to love to John. He says something at the end of that story about wishing he could see his own heart at the end of their life to see which of the hearts his own resembled by then. And then my muses, my terrible, terrible muses said, “hey... you could write that: you know: Sherlock at the very end of his life, making John promise to look at his heart after he’s died, and complete his experiment.” I, like, teared up just at the thought, and honestly, I cried for most of the writing of that story. I’m assured that about 99% of the people who have read it have also cried throughout, so... sorry. Yeah.
3. Scars. Why? Easy, again: the entire story is riddled with gaslighting and other types of emotional abuse and mind-fuckery, and an actual rape scene. It was painful to the point of being interally corrosive to write, but I still felt it was a story I needed to tell. I did my homework on this one, consulted multiple therapists who work specifically in the field of men who have been absued (emotionally, physically, sexually) by female partners. I thought no one would read it. I thought I might lose half my followers on tumblr. But I still wrote it. It still amazes me that people read it, even more when they actually like it, and still like me after. Lol.
How you choose your titles: Hmm... each title genesis is different, I would say! Sometimes it’s a general theme of the story, sometimes it’s a specific concept or single word, occasionally (but not often) it’s a song title. Sometimes it’s another language, particularly Latin. In The A.G.R.A Complex, the title of the story is also the name that the neurologists given to the brain injury Martin experiences. Vena Cava is titled for the name of the vein that Mary’s bullet punctured in Sherlock’s heart, based on a medical analysis I had read. Scars takes its theme from both Sherlock’s external scars from what he went through during his time away, and John’s internal scars from Mary’s emotional abuse. I also have a whole series of (unrelated) flower-themed stories: The Green Carnations comes from ACD era coding for homosexuality. The Yellow Poppies is the story I wrote after the deleted scene about Magnussen’s hospital visit came out, which features both he and Mary as dual villains, and yellow poppies placed in Sherlock’s room as a threat from one or the other of them. The White Lotuses has a leitmotif of Hinduism and slow-blooming self-awareness and romance. The Red Roses is a Molly POV where she helps Sherlock and John get together in spite of her own feelings, and The Wisteria Tree is an amnesia story that has Sherlock forget the past six years of his life, including the five years that he’s been married to John, and how they find their way back together in spite of that. Rosa Felicia - bonus, both a flower name AND Latin, lol! - is a coming-of-age story about Rosie at the age of 19. Where My Demons Hide is a mid-series 4 story that I wrote after The Lying Detective aired, but before The Final Problem did, and is the title of an Imagine Dragons song. Pater Noster is Latin for the title of the Lord’s Prayer in Latin, but also quite literally just means “our father”, and is a story that centres around the events surrounding the death (murder) of John and Harry’s father. You get the gist.
Do you outline: I always say that one should know how a story begins, how it ends, and at least a few of the major points between those two events. So yes, but loosely. I think that over-plotting kills creativity. It’s not an essay. But even essays need space to grow.
Complete: 105 stories back in my skyehawke days, the vast majority of which are HP, totalling in about 1.5 million words. 87 stories in the Sherlock fandom (though those include my 4 Freebatch fics), totalling in over 2.3 million words now.
In progress: I have two stories currently pending: a Christmas story called The Secret of Hazel Grange, and a trauma-based, co-sleeping fic called Nocturne.
Coming soon/not yet started: I never comment about fics I haven’t yet started. Might curse the entire process, lol.
Do you accept prompts: No, alas. Neither prompts nor commissions. While I’m constantly desperately poor, it takes something out of the writing process for me once it becomes a job. I just feel like that’s not what fanfic is about for me. No judgement to anyone else who does write for commissions, whatsoever - we all have our own process! For me, I’m happy (make that incredibly grateful!) to have donations or supporters through my Patreon (eep: x), but writing to order just doesn’t quite jive for me. I also don’t take prompts, not because I don’t want them, but because I have such a huge backlog of my own ideas that I’ll never get to as it is. There will never be enough time to write all the fics I want to write! That said, don’t think that you can’t still suggest your ideas. My “official policy” (lol) is that I don’t take prompts (for the aforementioned backlog reason), but that doesn’t mean that if you do send me one, my muses won’t seize upon it and force me to write it. You never know. I certainly don’t, at least. :P
Upcoming story you are most excited to write: I’m super excited by the notion of actually getting my Christmas fic finished by Christmas. Lol. Here’s hoping!!
