i remember seeing this one long post awhile ago of someone getting really pissed about people having lighthearted headcanons and writing silly fanfiction about disco elysium and saying stuff like "these people are not friends. this is not a happy fun story. this is a real story and you are trivializing it by writing 'goofy workplace antics' about corrupt cops" and if all you got out of that game was that cops equal bad and nothing else? nothing else about hope for humanity? or the joy of living in a bright and vibrant world and experiencing everything that life has to offer? the beautiful complexity of the lives of strangers? requesting a song for your partner on the radio? failing miserably and yet still moving on? risking everything for another chance even if you thought you had no more chances left? how the right 'ending' always comes from giving back to your community? un jour je serai le retour pres de toi? Been thinking about the Voices.

None of them are really good things, y'know. With the Hero being the obvious exception, and I've seen people talk about what decides the voices (narrator, princess, ect.) and I was thinking. These are the traits that got you killed. That's it. (imo obvs)

The Paranoid: You couldn't trust the princess or the narrator and that ended w/ your downfall.

The Smitten: You were so smitten with her that you let her kill you

The Contrarian: you didn't listen and went against what u were told and it ended the world

The Oppotunist: You tried to play both sides (leting the princess out only to betray her) and it led to you losing

The Sceptic: you questioned the Narrator, and it led to you letting her kill you

The Hunted: self explanitory i feel, you end up as the prey and she kills u

The Broken: she broke your will, causing you to give up n die

The Cheated: well, u were literally cheated out of your victory bc she stabbed u

The Stubborn: u were too stubborn to back down from a fight you didn't win. And she took u with her

The Cold: you were uncaring about the princess' life and your own, killing yourself because you were bored waiting forever and wanted something more
