The first two episodes were wonderful and I really enjoyed the imagery and cinematography along with how every actor embodied the character but here are things I will complain about because I can:
1. I don’t want to see R*ck in it, why did they have to show his face…
2. Sally Jackson still just seems like a Random White Woman™️ to me. The acting was good but something just isn’t clicking for me. Also…the way she was a hardass on grover…i did not like it.
3. WHY WAS THERE BARELY ANY ANNABETH?? my girl is the star of the show!!! she’s supposed to be the one to show percy around camp and have that funny banter where he asks her questions and she answers all of them without answering at all, leaving him more confused than he was before. that was the best part of the intro chapters imo. WHY DID CH*RON TAKE HER PLACE???
3a. the full shot of a little percy standing next to chiron’s absolute wagon while walking into the hermes cabin still absolutely sends me 😭😭. it ALMOST makes up for a lack of annabeth
4. why was annabeth just hovering there in the infirmary and not nursing him like she did in the book😭 they rly made her stalk him instead of just being the person who introduced him to everything. in the book, he was already taking mythology lessons with annabeth by the time the quest came around. she didn’t feel quite as integrated into the narrative as she should’ve been. i did love how blunt she was though. she’s many things, but apparently a liar isn’t one of them.
5. clarisse didn’t call him prissy
6. why was smelly gabe so…sanitized. he’s a loser who doesn’t treat them well but his depiction also doesn’t live up to the abusive pos he really is. the interactions with him didn’t have the same gravity as they did in the books, they just seemed too lighthearted…he also should’ve looked greasier. i know abuse comes in many forms and doesn’t always reveal itself right away but he was a lot more of a pushover than i would expect him to be if sally stood up for herself
7. the plot about the hellhound that sets up luke as the traitor…simply vanishing. annabeth shoving percy’s ass into the water to figure out he can heal was funny though. would’ve been cooler if it healed a giant hellhound claw mark rather than a nick
8. percy doing some half-assed flossing on a rock alone while waiting to be maimed during capture the flag, not knowing who his dad is or if he’ll ever get his mom back is so fucking funny in the most miserably way but also…why is he a fortnite kid, this is supposed to be 2006 😭. the implication that annabeth is standing there silently watching him almost makes up for it. i can’t imagine what was going through her mind…like girl that’s your future husband good luck

Soc Godly parents
This is more Kaz centric because that’s what started this entire thing
So when we assign godly parents to character we base it on their personalities and interests.
Most people agree Wylan is a child of Apollo, Kaz is either Hermes or Nemesis and so on.
But like at least in Percy Jackson it’s shown gods fall for people who fall into their domain( Apollo with singers, Athena with scholars etc)
So Kaz grew up on a farm with his dad and brother. I don’t see Nemesis or Hermes really being that interested in some farmer.
You know who would be interested in a farmer though? That’s right. Demeter.
Son of Demeter Kaz is real
No but this has been stuck in my head for days.
It could even be that Kaz only got the destructive powers of Demeter( I’m talking in the Persephone myth, how she cursed the world and made nothing able to grow) Instead of making plants grow faster, Kaz makes them wither instead and things like that.
So imagine this kid showing up at camp, immediately picking locks etc, and everyone just goes another Hermes child. He’s at camp for a week before getting claimed but the Hermes cabin has already accepted him as one of their brothers.
Then he’s claimed by Demeter, and everyone is confused because this guy who caused a flower to wither just by touching it, is suppose to be a Demeter child?
It would be interesting to do the parent perspective with all the crows at least with the information we’ve been given.
Honestly Wylan is probably the only crow, who is the son of the god most people sees him as. Like I refuse to believe that any goddess/god would fall for Jan van Eck. But like Marya, playing the piano, painting, she absolutely could attract Apollo.

Watched the First 4 Episodes of the PJO Series, Here are My Thoughts:
Cast:
I absolutely love the cast!! They are just so perfect for their roles!! I've seen my fair share of clips and behind the scenes footage to know the chemistry between the actors and how perfectly the main trio embodies their characters, but actually seeing their acting and how well they fit together just makes sense in my brain!! They're all so small as well and adorable that it really puts it into perspective how young they truly are to be going through all of this and the things the characters go through as the books progress. It hurts but it's also endears you more to the actors and the characters.
Walker is just absolutely perfect as Percy. He's such a little shit and the way he delivers his lines, whether they're angry/emotional/sad or just comedic, is simply amazing!
"I am impertinent" THAT PART HAD ME WHEEZING FR
Although I don't have an issue with Lin Manuel Miranda as a person (I absolutely love his works and stuff) it does not make sense to cast him as Hermes, and that's just going off the elevator scene when he delivers the package! Like I honestly can't imagine this man as Luke's father :// It could've been better.
But the others are just great! Their energy is amazing and omg Mr. D was a blast! It's a much different portrayal than I was expecting since Mr. D is so chill and like aloof in the books, but seeing him yell and stuff at Percy to take on the quest just made me look at him in a new light!!
Filming/Aesthetics:
Every scene is shot so beautifully! And the choices they made with the places they add the music too!! Like the entire fight with the Minotaur being void of music was such a good choice. It just makes the entire scene so much more emotionally charged and tense while keeping the audience on the edge of their seat!! It was filmed so well and god it transported me to how it felt like when I read the books for the first time and went through that scene~
And omg the scene with Sally just sitting in the rain on the windowsill :(( That one was so soft and sad istg- any scene with Sally was just perfect, love her and the actress who did such a good job with her!!
Changes from the Books:
It's been around 5 or so?? years since I last read the books, so my recollection of what actually happened and what didn't was a bit fuzzy while watching the series but I was able to see how things changed. And so far, I don't mind the changes that much, like yes some had me staring at the screen like "hm" because they wetn a different way than I was expecting, but overall not too bad!
I did enjoy the scenes with Medusa, I liked having Percy wanting to hear her out and trusting to follow her inside because of what Sally had told him when he was a kid. I liked the conversations between Percy and her in the kitchen and even when she was explaining her side of the story to the trio. It was such a good way to present the scene, to show her resentment of both Athena and Posiedon, and also to show how she interacts with Percy to lure him in and play on his trusting and albeit naive nature at that point in the quest.
I did see people talking about episode 8 and the big reveal tho and I'm both excited to see it but also wary of the change they added cause I've seen a lot of mixed reactions. Some prefer the book version, some the version in the series.
General Thoughts:
I'm honestly enjoying the series, it's exciting seeing it all come to life and the dynamics and just sitting there in anticipation of what's to come.
I'm currently watching it with my big sis and let me tell y'all it's so much fun!! She hasn't read the books so all she knows is purely from when we watched the movies together a long time ago so she doesnt remember much (but unfortunately the big reveal at the end isn't going to be a surprise for her). I'm having the time of my life being a little shit and laughing at her confusion or whenever she'd start yelling "WHAT" at the screen like when Sally dissapeared HAHAHA she keeps turning to me and trying to come to conclusions and theories for things while I just smile or shake my head at outrageous ones. I am excited to see her reactions to certain scenes in the other books, especially when it comes to a certain someones end in the last book (she does not like him rn so I'm like 👀 rn to see if that might change along the way).
Uncle Rick did such a good job with the series so far and I'm excited to watch the rest of it, especially now that news of it being renewed for season 2 came out HEHEHE
And thats it for today! I'll be watching the rest of the series at some point this week and will be sharing the rest of my thoughts then. Thank u for reaching the end haha. Till then, have a good day folks and stay tuned! <3

OKAY episode 2!! holiday shenanigans and work kept me from watching it till now but here we go!
---
- We got the "you drool when you sleep" (in the wrong spot but still), I can rest easy
- Annabeth just standing around spookily instead of sitting down or feeding Percy nectar / ambrosia is really funny to me
-  about 80% sure they had Percy notice the Minotaur horn right away for time issues, but I really liked the slow build up to Percy accepting it all happened, Grover being patient with him and then sighing and giving him the shoe box with the horn.
- Definitely different from the book, Grover apologizing and all. But it's consistent with what the show did so far.
- Lowkey sad we're not getting a shot of Percy looking out at how beautiful the day/camp is, then down at the horn, then being miserable. Not a huge deal, it was just always a scene that stuck with me as a kid, I was hoping it would be included here. Walker would CRUSH it I know!
- I knew from the trailers that CHB is basically all inside a forest afaik, but it's still weird not to have the Big House overlooking the valley, being able to see everything. Especially since they kept Thalia's pine on a hill.
- Percy's annoyance with mr D is on point but it would hit a lot harder if we had seen Smelly Gabe be a drunkard and Percy somehow realizing Mr D likes to drink too -- his initial defensiveness and dislike for him was rooted in his trauma from his stepdad. It still works cause we know he doesnt like bullies thanks to Nancy, but I miss that
- lmao mr Dr just letting Percy and Grover talk it out
- The fakeout with calling Percy son made me ugly snort but I kinda miss how utterly bored he is in the books
- THAT SAID. the sarcastic tone, dismissive behavior, etc, DO remind me of this version of Gabe, so I do like Percy getting mad at him here!! I retract my earlier statement, it's subtle but if you pay attention you might tie mr D's behavior to Percy's stepdad. Still wish Percy looked more /angry/ about it tho.
- again with the happy/funny music tho, am I supposed to be laughing that Percy's miserable?
- hang on I did not follow the marketing all that much but WHY can NO adaptation get that Chiron's horse half is white lmao, is it an animation thing? I DONT KNOW.
- I do like how they used the wine bottle thing at the end to explain the demigods being able do whatever they want, so between that and getting show!Gabe vibes from mr D I quite like this
- Except for one tiny thing: where's Annabeth?
- Mr D literally said Grover succeeded they are SO CUTTING THE COUNCIL THING I AM SO MAD
-  ohHHHHh okay NEVERMIND we DO have open spaces, this place looks awesome!! Surprisingly similar to how I imagined CHB except I always saw the cabins not being in the forest, just close to it. I do love how they look tho, I can definitely get used to this. Very cozy somehow.
-  I will say this version of Chiron is growing on me after being a little iffy on him in ep 1!
- Luke has a slightly less cool kid, sunny disposition when we meet him but the entire scene at Hermes' cabin was Very Nice! I just miss Annabeth's blushing and stammering around Luke here
- No seriously where is my daughter have you seen her
- Mr D and Chiron playing, presumably, pinochle made me smile. Also the tiger print shirt lol
- hang on HANG ON we have a WHOLE SCENE with the Council of Cloven Elders that has NOTHING to do with Grover's searcher's license?
- I loved the scene with the dryad hinting at Grover being an anxious bean tho, finally some signs of that
- I am? So confused about this. I guess they changed Grover so beyond recognition that they have to give him some unnecessary drama/arc about lying to Percy? Why reveal that Hades has Sally right now - why not let it be a surprise when Percy gets to the Underworld? Why not let Percy agree to the quest, supposedly bc of his father, and later down the line let him confess he's only doing it to try and get Sally back like he does in the book? Why make Grover AND Chiron hide this from him? Unlike everything else, I don't understand the reason for these changes.
- Is... Is it Luke who tells Percy about the nightmares? I could have sworn it was Annabeth - she's definitely the one who talks about the AHDH and dyslexia. WHY are they giving Annabeth's lines to everyone else? I can see this being to show Luke and Percy bonding but at what cost?? WHERE IS SHE.
- ...  We aren't getting the training scene with best-swordsman-in-centuries Luke and the disarming maneuver that's gonna come back in the final fight are we.
- Clarisse sadly does not have the same vibes as the book. Also she looks so much older than Percy? Isnt she just 14?
- Interesting that they're setting up Percy catching the gods' attention - at least his dad's rn. If this doesnt lead into the "I'm impertinent" thing with Medusa's head I'll be sad.
- ps I LOVE that Luke is all about glory to be admired and looked up to, and Percy Does Not Care about it at all lol. Delightful way of showing that!
- Okay the first real laugh this got out of me was Percy being disgusting at archery. What an adorable bean I LOVE him
- I assume that's not Beckendorf but I really wish it was him lmao. Also love Luke looking out for Percy here
- Who IS this kid who keeps hanging around Luke? ... Is it Chris Rodriguez? Oh man pls let it be Chris
- UPDATE I CHECKED THE SUBTITLES (bc I couldnt understand which god's name was that) AND IT IS CHRIS I LOVE THIS SO MUCH FAM
- is he- oh my god the burning of the jellybeans to "pray" to his mom OKAY THIS IS AMAZING 10/10 I WEPT I'm officially adding this to the events of the books when I re-read it -- I hope we get more scenes like this!!
- goddddd its such a CLEVER way of telling the audience that Percy falls in love with this place fast, even tho it hurts that the "friends" he's talking about arent gonna stay around
- Interesting change to not have Percy seek out his Dad's approval so much-- I dont mind it, bc I like how they're leaning into how much he loves Sally -- but I wish they hadn't done *away* with it completely, the way they seem to have. Keep both!
- Idk, this dyslexic, ADHD kid who's always been told he's the problem struggling with believing he was too broken to keep his father around, only to later be told he IS his father's son and that Poseidon is proud of him regardless of what the world would tell him... That felt special to me. I hope the workaround this is to have Annabeth call him out on it as she does later down the book, when he sends Medusa's head to Olympus.
- SUCH a good scene tho
- I dont mind that they did this scene at night but I also liked the visual of Clarisse just being Clarisse and dragging Percy to the bathroom in broad daylight lmao. This flows better with the show's pacing tho
- Okay but like why not let Clarisse try to shove Percy's head in the toilet you know she'd be having a BLAST
- Percy looks more scared than angry, he's lacking the whole "they will NOT put my head in there. they WONT" thing. People keep saying Percy is appropriately angry in the show and I'm like THIS is angry?? You sweet summer children
- awwww no "you're dead, punk, totally dead?"- she just runs? How very un-Clarisse of her. Also, no Annabeth around to say she wants him on her capture the flag team?
- Will I have to start putting up missing person poste- NEVERMIND SHE'S HERE FINALLY LOOK AT HER
- the admission of stalking is HILARIOUS but I wish they kept her intro to earlier in the episode, you miss out on a lot of Annabeth's less "cool" moments like stammering around Luke (and I always loved that Percy was immediately aware of it and she glared at him, it was so indicative of their eventual dynamic), biting her nails/barely looking when Clarisse is bullying Percy and getting all wet with toilet-water but taking it like a champ with the capture the flag comment.
- I wonder if the "litter sister" comment is gonna hold up. Even if Luke never develops feelings for Annabeth eventually (which I would prefer, it always felt forced on his side), Percy's jealousy of him and Annabeth's crush on him are important.
- On one hand: I like they're setting up Luke, Thalia and Annabeth this early on. On the other, much like the Minotaur fight, you miss out on a lot of Percy figuring the puzzle pieces out on his own. He keeps getting exposition dumped on, especially with THIS memory in particular! Considering Rick is writing for this, and I feel his HOO series had a lot of the same issues, it's a bit sad to see that bleed into the original series. There was a lot less nuance in the sequels, and we keep consistently seeing the same here.
- But you DO show-dont-tell the conch horn? HAH :'D
- I REALLY wanted Percy to be wearing armor that was a size too big for him I really did
- nOOOOOOo they're cutting Annabeth's blushing and stammering PLEASE don't get rid of her crush on Luke it's IMPORTANT. Let it be one-sided!!! it's okay!!!
- Like I said earlier - they sanitized Annabeth's less "cool" moments, she feels too in control here. I want to see her be a 12yo!
- I just realized- no hounding him about the Solstice either. Did Mrs Dodds even say anything about "it" being stolen? The buildup to the master bolt's theft was SO good. Now she's just generally interested in him, not actively hunting for her quest. We're TOLD Annabeth is obsessed with her quest but we don't SEE how frazzled she is about it, how much she's seeking it.
- Okay, fine. Distracting me with the little fixing of his armor. It's lowkey working and they BETTER link back to this in BOTL or I WILL scream.
- The cut away to Percy flossing got a snicker out of me, tho my Percy will always and forever be a millenial. Also I can imagine Annabeth's face while she looks away from him peeing in the woods lmao
- Bonus: it shows Percy whistling! It better come back with Blackjack in the future!
- No growling from the hellhound?
- Why is daughter-of-the-god-of-war Clarisse taking her helmet off?
- I miss Percy at least trying to defend himself, taking a beating including from the electric spear, and only then telling them where the flag is. He would NOT volunteer the information right away just bc he's surrounded!
- Did they EXPLAIN why Clarisse thinks Percy is a fraud? I don't get it. Why not just leave it to the good ol' "she's mad he pulled a crazy feat like killing the Minotaur, one-upping her without even knowing", instead of having her doubt that he did it? In the book she was more like "yea right like THIS wimp is a Big Tree kid material, like he actually did it" - which felt more just mean of her than genuinely not believing him
- Also, why have Percy run from them- why not set this at the creek that marks the border between territories? Why have Percy run all the way to the canoe lake? Why do ALL OF THAT and not even show him stepping on the water and getting reinvigorated by it? This also takes away from Annabeth having to spy on him-- she's meant to connect the dots here, it takes away from her too
- I genuinely LOVE that they kept Percy catching Clarisse's spear on the edge of his shield, but the way he breaks it is almost on accident. I'm almost offended, this was a HUGE win for Percy and set up how he used the water to defeat her father later own. The choreography grows to be neat, but at the cost of all that made this fight special. Same with the Minotaur and Mrs Dodds. Is this going to be a pattern??
- For how old Clarisse looked, I love how YOUNG she suddenly looks when she screams-- that was a FANTASTIC bit of acting by whoever has been cast as her.
- The flag did not turn blue I am SO SAD
- More importantly: same with Clarisse not realizing it was all a set up-- they stripped Annabeth of THAT bit of smarts too. In the book she's counting on Clarisse being blinded by her need for revenge, she puts Percy right at the border where she can see him alone, and Annabeth knows he'll distract her enough to let her team win just as it helps her figure it out if Percy's the one. But in the show Percy is tucked away in the middle of nowhere and Clarisse straight up says she doesn't care about winning, which means Annabeth's "killer strategy" that Luke is so confident on actually had nothing to do with him- she was just looking out for her own desire to get a quest. I Do Not Like this change at all.
- I wanted to see Annabeth for so long and yet she feels so distant and aloof here, it's so strange. Annabeth is rational but deeply emotional... This reminds me of what the later series did with her, stripping her of a lot of that so she can be the cool leader of the 7 or whatever (the only exception being HoH really) and I REALLY hope they arent doing the same here.
- OhhhhhHHHhhh no I don't. I DON'T like that she pushes Percy into the lake. Not for the books and not for how the show has been handling Percy's character. I think I'll elaborate it in a different post here but. Yea no. This really bothers me.
- Cant believe I'm gonna say this but the movie did the claiming scene better.
- Also they removed the hellhound like WHERE ARE THE STAKES HERE
- I liked Percy's stammering of "I dont know"- how his instinct is to apologize, but... The changed vibes of the claiming scene... the triumphant music, no bowing, Chiron's speech being changed... This was a "the very foundations of your world have been shaken, AGAIN". Annabeth is not meant to be smiling or in control, she's almost speechless. Even Clarisse is meant to be bowing.
- The music and Annabeth's reaction is treating this as a victory when it's not. It's just profound shock, awe and terror at once. Just by people's reactions, you know what a big deal being a Big Three kid is. This is not it, fam.
- "claimed by poseidon" and 5 words later "son of poseidon" is writing my teacher would dock points out of
- ... the episode doesn't end here? The episode should have ended here.
- They ARE EXPOSITION DUMPING HIM WITH NO BUILD UP I KNEW THEY WOULD DO THIS AND I HATE IT. IM SO MAD WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS RICHARD.
- Percy's speech about Sally is great but is undercut by mr D *actually* yelling at him like? Mr D would never, EVER do that. He doesnt really feel like a god here, he'd just show a tad of his divine power and Percy would shut the heck up. Also, Percy accepts the quest because he brought the wrath of Zeus to camp - to innocent campers, and to innocent mortals. Why is he refusing it here? What are you doing to my son? What kind of BS writing is this???
- Grover is actively disobeying a DIRECT order from his primary god (alongside Pan, who hasnt been mentioned at all). What is going on. Again why are we revealing this now. Why are we exposition dumping AGAIN. Why are we taking PERCY'S motivation and spelling it out IN THE FACE of the camp directors, and rubbing our faces on it like its mud?
- This is blood of olympus level writing I went from the SUCH a high to being fuming. delightful.
- OH MY GOD THEY CUT ANNABETH FROM A SCENE AGAIN. WHAT THE F-CK.
-----
So, I went from genuinely enjoying this episode better even with the changes to being absolutely livid at some of said changes.
Looks like this is gonna be a high highs and low lows kind of story. Well, I'll be back for episode 3 when it releases.

The Last Olympian Thoughts
So because I have absolutely 0 self-control or restraint when it comes to this series and its characters, and for The Last Olympian in particular, I could not put TLO down. Because of this I figured I couldn’t do the usual photo reaction posts I have been so far, because the spam would just be ridiculous, so I am stealing the idea from @yourstrulytaaay to do a masterpost instead. (Adding a Read More cause this got ridiculously long)
Fun fact, TLO came out right after i finished reading the series for the first time so it's the first PJO book i bought  and my only hard cover one for the og series. I checked the year and turns out it was published 2009, which means i was actually 9 when i read the series for the first time. I realize this is not really a fun fact but i thought i was older when I first read the series so it's blowing my mind a little ‘cause now I’m 21 and everything hits different and i still have so much love for this series and the characters Okay onto book thoughts: - i was right that this book is gonna destroy me, the first line alone made me so excited and nostalgic it's ridiculous - I love Rachel and Percy sm tbh. Her being a bit of peace and normalcy in his life without always reminding Percy of who and what he is is so good for him. Just a little escape
- of course by the end of the book that's not the case any more but by the end he's lived his prophecy so he doesn't need it as badly, plus he and Annabeth are solid again - Percy saying Annabeth has been hard to be around lately... Ouch my heart. Luke really is the last thing that keeps them from being together and Percy is so jealous and Annabeth so torn and in pain, i feel so bad for them both
Tumblr media
- Beckendorf 🥺🥺 - the telkhine with the Lil Demon lunchbox!! I forgot about him. Percy: 'i left him alive, partly because his lunchbox was cool' is one of my absolute favourite lines tbh - Paul taking Percy crabbing and being imperative in helping Percy kill the giant crab 💖 Paul Blofis is important and deserves the world, okay? - aw Percy, you can't save every demigod bb
Tumblr media
- 'i had to fight him eventually. Why not now?... What difference would a week make?' Oh Percy you have no idea - real talk tho, the fact Kronos possessed Luke's body would also mess me tf up. Percy keeps forgetting it's not Luke anymore and yeah, that would be so so hard and confusing af, like what another smart little mind game for Kronos to pull on top of everything else - the fact Percy fights Kronos before getting the Achilles Curse and actually doesn't die within seconds is... Astounding. He kicks him in the chest! And yeah Kronos is weaker and still adjusting to Luke's body, but Percy is having trouble fighting Luke cause they used to be friends - Percy breaks Kronos' time magic!! Like?! Boy is POWERFUL.
Tumblr media
- OUCH - honestly Luke, Thalia and Annabeth's family breaking the way it did... Don't talk to me. Poor Annabeth, Luke betrayed them, Thalia joined the Hunters because of Luke's betrayal so she's pretty much AWOL all the time and then Luke dies. Like Rick wtf, my heart can't take it? -Percy and Tyson having each others backs when talking to Poseidon in the underwater palace is the brother-brother relationship we love to see - Percy trying to stick a sand dollar in the vending machines at school 🤦🏻‍♀🤦🏻‍♀ - the whole underwater interaction at Poseidon's palace? Perfection. Awkward family drama and all - Connor falling out of the tree when he sees Percy because he's so excited 😂😂
Tumblr media
- 😭💖
Tumblr media
- k, ik Clarisse isn't perfect but tbh if i was a child of Ares whose father was disrespected and hated by my fellow campers (ares deserves it but still) and that disrespect trickled down to how the other campers treated ME (which if Percy is reliable here, it obviously does) then i would also be irritated at being used for muscle and nothing else? And just expected to fight with the people who act as if they'd rather not have Ares kids around the rest of the time. Like Clarisse isn't totally wrong - Percy reading the prophecy, seeing he's meant to die and just being like 'i do not see it' and refusing to outright think about it makes me so sad for him - (but it taints every action after and he's super reckless afterwards bc of it- including finally breaking and accepting the Achilles Curse) - (also him taking this as the last straw and finally beginning to show Annabeth how he really feels, cause fuck it, he's dying anyway) - Give me more info about Rachel's backstory and family Rick!! -  how did i forget Percy willingly eats chocolates that taste like cardboard because 'i didnt have anything against cardboard' like sir? Ik Silena didn't want them but still? - 'she'd always been cute, but she was starting to be seriously beautiful' STOP, MY HEART CAN'T TAKE IT - Percy staring at Annabeth and forgetting what they're talking about cause hes so distracted 👌🏻
Tumblr media
- hmm yeah... For some strange reason.... - i forgot how Percy totally bombs this convo bw them and now want to cry 😭 Annabeth is trying to talk about what's important and Percy, you sweet oblivious man, you're shooting her down without even realizing - love that they're both on the same wavelength tho. Percy two lines before, hmm it's cool to date ppl from other cabins, wonder why im thinking that around Annabeth, my best friend in the world, and then Annabeth a beat later, hmm, let me bring up Silena and Beckendorf and how it's important to be with the people you love when you have the chance, no way Percy will miss this huge hint right? - they're the best - k i honestly forgot Percy full on physically intimidates Leneus like that - luke telling his mom if he ran away the monsters wouldnt get her..i can just imagine luke crying when he says good bye before running away because he thinks it's his fault his mom is like that and he cant take care of and protect her anymore because it's too hard - uh oh now i have angsty pre-lightning thief luke fic inspo... Him, Thalia and Annabeth on the run... The ANGST -  Rick holds absolutely nothing back in this book and i am in pain - HESTIA!! 💖💖🥰 - actual loml - i love that Rick titled this book after her and that he wrote such a great series about the importance of family (biological, found or otherwise) and home, and that he said actually Hestia is the most important bc shes the most humble and keeps the peace and knows when to fight and when to yield and you protect what you love, which is your home - i just... Adore Hestia - Grover! Missed you babes - Hades is so so horrible to Nico, always comparing him to Bianca :/ - but i do love Hades, Persephone and Demeter together they make me laugh - oh god the River Styx - Achilles 🥺 - Annabeth being Percy's lifeline is, and continues to be, A Lot™ - 'my name was Percy Jackson. I reached up and took Annabeth's hand.' LOL Why am i crying? - Like the fact there is no Percy without Annabeth, and that remembering her literally reminded him of who he is in his very soul... It's fine im fine - i won't even get into the parallels of her being his lifeline now and then later when Hera takes his memories but leaves the memory of Annabeth for Percy to fight to get back to (anyone who wants to yell about it with me... Feel free to message) - badass Percy is my fav Percy tbh - him defeating Hades?? Like? Hades is arguably the most powerful god, okay - i feel bad for Nico but if i was Percy I'd do the exact same, Nico, sorry man but this is a high stakes time crunch deal and Nico is literally the only hope of persuading Hades and distracted by his own internal stuff - flashbacks to Luke, Thalia and Annabeth hurt, ow - George and Martha are the best - damn i forgot Hermes full on nearly kills Percy here, yikes - Luke stop cockblocking Percabeth challenge
Tumblr media
- i love!! Percy's love for New York!! So much!! - Percy leaving to live in New Rome in HoO is a lie and this is all the proof i need for why - the fact the entire last half of the book is the battle and aftermath... Such great buildup and pacing. All the tricks and twists and battles in this War of Manhattan? I would not take out a thing, Rick, you legend - of course then the final battle in hoo with the gods is what? Two pages? Ugh, don’t talk to me about my hatred for BoO and HoO - 'no detours you two' is still the cutest thing!!! - THE HUNTERS!! Thalia i missed you - good job Percy, you finally spent your sand dollar - Minotaur!! - 'dont i get a kiss for luck? Its kind of a tradition right?' Percy finds out he's gonna die and is out of fucks to give and honestly I support him - also Michael just standing beside these two while they're flirting like umm 👀 👀 while a monster army marches towards them, nbd - Annabeth taking Ethan's knife meant for Percy!!! Cause she just knows his weak spot without him even telling her! They literally invented love - Feral Percy is so scary omg, i love how well Rick incorporates the Achilles Curse in this novel, with the whole heightened weaknesses and stuff ans the parallels to Achilles arrogance being what killed him and Percy's loyalty, fierceness and protective instinct being his own heightened weakness - the fact that Percy is the one who inadvertantly kills Michael Yew tho, I'll never recover from that - the fact Hades offers Maria di Angelo a golden palace by the Styx like how Poseidon offers Sally a palace under the sea tho. Let's talk about that parallel - the entire talk with Prometheus is so so good - not me picturing young Luke hiding in the closet to get away from his mom when she has an 'episode' -i love callbacks in stories and all of the callbacks to the rest of the series in this book make me very happy (medusa, minotaur, the underworld, Rainbow!! My baby!!, Daedalus and more) - Percy summoning a wholeass hurricane against Hyperion - the Party Ponies! They're so chaotic, i love it - Dionysus! 😁 I can't help it, i love him - Percy absolutely losing it when he sees Sally and Paul asleep in the car 🥺 - Rachel telling Percy he's not the hero screws with him so much :( poor bb - although i really really love how Rick wrote this, it's so refreshing to not have one chosen one save the world, but a combination of people - the drakon, Silena and Clarisse make me cry - the Patrochilles references, im not okay - Annabeth giving up on Luke after hearing what he did to Silena and Percy telling her that doesn't make him happy 😭 that whole interaction makes my heart ache - Percy giving Hestia Pandora's pithos 🥺 - and Hades, Nico and the others coming for a final attack is so badass, i love it - listen im glad the og trio were the ones to confront Luke on Olympus but the fact Thalia got so close and then pinned by a statue of HERA makes me so sad. Ik her and Luke were finished and she coped by cutting him off completely and giving up all hope but i would pay money to know what they would have said to each other to say goodbye - Ethan 🥺 - Poseidon joining the fight against Typhon is so cool, such a great scene - 'PEANUT BUTTER!' - Annabeth you brilliant badass you - RIP Luke, you werent great but you werent the worst either - the gods just rolling up seconds too late, wondering wtf happened in Olympus and who the dead body is - the chapter where the Olympians meet and give out rewards is one of my absolute favourites (again i am incensed we didn't get anything like this in HoO) - will Percy turning down immortality ever not make me scream in glee? No? Alright then - Annabeth being relieved like Percy was relieved at the end of Titan's Curse tho - oh Hermes :/ - its so hard reading all this and knowing what comes in HoO... Like it's such a cathartic, earned and mostly happy and peaceful ending and then HoO comes along and undermines it all - aww Rick let Paul see Olympus somehow pls, he deserves it, he killed a dracanae - (i would also love to see it) - Percy being more upset Rachel took his pegasus than her going to Camp and possibly dying, lol, priorities dude - i honestly think that Rick had other ideas for the second Great Prophecy and how things would go down in BoO, cause the prophecy like... Barely applies to BoO, Doors of Death are in book four, and explabations of it is all so unclear when Rick is usually pretty good with that stuff - PERCABETH - lol Percy complaining about privacy when he and Annabeth are caught kissing literally in the middle of the very open and public dining pavilion, okay - BEST UNDERWATER KISS OF ALL TIME - that's it and im a glass case of emotion - very happy to say that this series remains my favourite of all time 💖
If anyone ever wants to come gush about anything Riordanverse related feel free, because as you can see I have a lot of thoughts about it all

how would you do a percy jackson adaptaion?
okay, so I know this is a controversial opinion right off the bat: I really don’t think it should be an animated series.
A large part of the appeal of the series is that it’s a fantasy series set very very firmly in reality. Literally, apart from the camps, you could go to every location hit in the books. Riordan mentions specific streets, buildings and landmarks, and that was cool when I first read them. I remember being a kid and waiting for him to set a scene in a place near where I lived! I remember trips to New York and being able to envision an epic war happening in the streets. So I think any adaption needs to be live action just to keep that same feeling alive, while I’m not knocking on animation, I just feel like taking the story out of real life would make it loose a little of the charm. Like, the scene where Manhattan is completely frozen in time? It would be haunting to see that in real life, but I feel like it would be less impactful if it didn’t…you know…look real? The series should be done in a way that makes you truly feel like you could just turn a corner and walk straight into a snake woman going about her day.
Now: another large part of the appeal of the series is how funny it is, but a lot of that…is Percy’s inner monologue. He doesn’t actually voice most of it, there was even a book where Annabeth described him as being quiet. So, I think the best way to work around this: make it Interview With A Demigod.
Imagine it’s got an interview with a vampire-esque setup- and this even works because within the riordanverse, the books canonically exist because Percy sat down with a ‘camp scribe’ and had his quests recorded. So, like, this isn’t even entirely out of left field. But just imagine, a college-aged, maybe a little older Percy, I can see it so clearly in my head, he’s wearing a sweatshirt that at first glance looks like it says NYU but a trained eye will see it actually says NRU for a camp jupiter easter egg, he’s sitting in some dinky little diner (maybe it can even be a monster donut or something with a clever greek myth related name) with a guy who’s recording the conversation on some old-ass tape recorder that keeps acting up but they can’t record on a phone because of the whole technology thing. Every now and then it’ll cut back to them to get some great Percy thoughts out there. They open with older Percy saying the ‘look, I didn’t wanna be a halfblood’ and then explaining where he was when the whole mess started. Once he get’s to “was I a troubled kid?” the screen fades from older Percy to 12 year old Percy getting in a fight with Nancy and her gang, and the voice over says the ‘Yeah, you could say that’ part as we see him get threatened by the principal to behave on the field trip. Boom, we’ve got an opening. Lowkey….I’m seeing Jordan Fisher as older Percy, but I’m not 100% married to the idea.
And before anyone tries to argue that showing an older Percy would spoil he’s not gonna die in last olympian- like, reading the books, we all knew he wasn’t going to die. It was a first person narrative and he was consistently speaking in past tense lmao like we Knew he was gonna make it. We still enjoyed the series. It won’t ruin anything.
I want part of the score of the adaptation to be instrumental versions of songs from the musical, I think that could be a sweet nod to that team.
They really need to nail camp halfblood. I know that goes without saying, but in order to keep the pacing of the story decent we can’t spend as much time falling in love with it like we got to with the book. The book is like, 24 chapters and the quest starts at chapter 12- for a movie or tv show, that’s just gonna feel like it’s dragging. So, the insanity of the camp needs to smack you in the face right away, and then it needs to endear itself to the viewers quickly after that. Don’t try to ease the viewers (or Percy) into the mythology is real thing, rip it off like a bandaid. He’s on his way to meet Chiron and Mr. D for the first time and even if he’s not comprehending what he’s seeing, there’s nature spirits and harpies all around going about their day. Hestia waves at him and then disappears into the flames. Hecate kids can be seen casting a spell on the porch of the Hermes cabin. The Stolls are seen pranking some Aphrodite kids. He sees someone surely die on the climbing wall but then you hear a faint ‘I’m okay!’. The Apollo kids put a rhyming curse on another cabin. Pure chaos all before he gets the ‘so, gods are real’ speech. And then after that…show how warm Luke is to him at the cabin and at dinner. Show the kids all goofing off at the campfire and really make it clear that they’re children. Show the strawberry fields rolling in the wind and Percy sitting on the beach. The whole couple weeks where he’s searching for powers and learning greek and latin with Annabeth can be a montage. Make it clear how hurt and scared he is when he finds out he needs to leave.
It needs to really get you feeling how Percy’s feeling, every laugh, every tear, every moment of fear or confusion needs to shine clear through. Like…think of Spider-Man Homecoming, the Washington monument scene. All things considered, it’s not the most high-stakes scene we’ve ever seen in that franchise, and when it cuts to the kids in the elevator, they’re worried but not quite freaking out, but that scene feels very high stress to watch because the movie is good at getting the viewers to feel what Peter feels. A Percy Jackson adaptation needs a touch like that, because Percy’s a very emotional kid and that’s what a lot of the scenes hinge on.
Lowkey- I’d love it if the casts of both the previous movies and the musical had cameos or bit parts (the movie cast did Nothing Wrong, it was the rest of that team). It’d be hilarious to see, like, Jake Abel as the owner of the poodle, or Logan Lerman as Older Percy and the reporter’s waiter that keeps trying to get in on the conversation, or Brandon T. Jackson as a satyr who’s still stuck grooving out in the Lotus Hotel and Casino. Kristen Stokes as a nature spirit, Chris as one of the ghosts stuck in the waiting room of DOA Records, just like any of those casts having small parts would be fun and sweet.
There should be a lot of easter eggs for the bigger riordanverse. Promotions in the background for the new Tristan McLean movie. Gabe’s got a true crime documentary about the missing Grace children playing during his poker game. Mr. D is reading a paper about Rachel Dare’s father’s newest project. At some point while they’re still in New York they pass the Kane family’s mansion or whatever it was called. Annabeth keeps a picture of little her and Magnus on her nightstand. The barest of hints about the Triumvirate. Seeing kids in camp jupiter gear in some background shots, just out of notice of our main characters but implying the camps are going through similar problems (BITCH….if we got a titan’s curse adaptation…and we had a shot of Thalia in the foreground….but in the background we saw a blond boy in purple with a golden sword….well I would simply loose my Goddamn mind).
And show us how easily the mist lets things blend in, too- like, everyone thinks ‘Monster Donuts’ is just a normal chain, it’s just on an average street block, but if Percy looks through the window he can see who’s behind the counter. Show someone swindling some guys in a park and you have to look twice to realize he’s a gegeines. Like…how people are still trying to find all the background ghosts in haunting of hill house. I would LOVE to see a bunch of background monsters and mythical beings just going about their day as much as the mortals are while the gang’s questing.
The effects need to be fun. The whole story needs to be fun, but one weird thing about the past movies are that like…in their attempt to make it gritty, none of the fantastical things happening on screen actually felt that exciting. We need bright colors and interesting choices, consistently cool action shots, a liveliness that makes you feel like you’re in the center of the action. I have absolutely no doubt Disney easily has enough funds to pull off great effects.
The characters need to be….in character lmao. Annabeth needs to be cocky and bratty with the skill set to justify it. Percy needs to be a sweetheart who pretends to be hardened because that’s what people assume he’s like. Grover needs to have dry humor and a Too Old For This Shit attitude whenever percabeth start bickering. Luke needs to be nice and friendly but in a specific way that you can look back after the betrayal and see he was trying to groom everyone. Sally needs to be loving, protective and strong. Chiron needs to feel defeated and determined at the same time. Mr. D needs to….be Stanley Tucci lmao
Also, I’d love if the adaptation could expand more on things that got brushed along in the books- Percy and Beckendorf’s friendship, Silena and Clarisse’s dynamic, make Nico’s crush on Percy a little more obvious, give Rachel some more development. One thing that haunts me about the books is Sally never found out that Gabe hit Percy. Absolutely they don’t need to make the abuse explicit, but I also personally feel like a lot of Percy’s mindsets throughout the series are somewhat a result of Gabe, and I’d like if that got, you know, acknowledged. Maybe in the scene where he figures out Gabe abuses Sally he could say ‘does he hit you too?’ or something to that effect. They could also go more into detail about Annabeth’s family, give Zoe some more depth….like the possibilities I’m screaming.
Okay this is already long and I’m getting tired but I can so clearly see a great adaptation in my mind….Disney please come through….It’s what we deserve….

Imagine (based on the incomplete fanfic Son of the Underworld) (Son of Hades! Percy AU) (5/5) or (5/10)
Hey so, this is the last part of PJO - I follow into HOO, so before you read this, check on the masterpost - and read the warnings before proceeding :)) Good reading!
Annabeth comes to him, at the end of his fifteenth birthday party, and shows her Daedalus laptop. There's a document open in it, and it's labeled Achilles' Curse.
Percy doesn't read it - he hates reading, in any way or form or language - but she does, out loud.
"I'll think about it"
They have a year. Most of them, even those who aren't year-rounders, are going back to camp, to draw battle plans and stock on the armory.
He feels kinda selfish - for a whole five seconds before he remembers he'll probably die next summer, so he just shrugs it off - Percy deserves this year.
They all leave to go back to camp. Nico seems conflicted over something - but Perseus doesn't question it, there's enough bad blood between them.
Paola is really cool - and Sally really loves her. It's kind of bizarre at first, to see his Mom dating his teacher - and of a subject he hates - but Paola is calm and well-tempered and she laughs at his stupid ass jokes.
He visits Persephone afterward - and it really feels like he has three moms to fulfill his lack of a father - well, he is absolutely grateful for the women in his life.
Percy isn't truly in good terms with his father. The man doesn't really seem to care much for him as a person - he is much more of a trophy son.
Perseus loathes being a trophy son, but at least he has someone to help with his powers - not something a lot of half-bloods can claim.
So he goes back to school with Rachel, and they pretend everything is normal. He tells her about his quests - all three of them. He thinks she understands him better now.
He opens up to her. Tells her about Annabeth - the adrenaline-fueled kiss - and Rachel stops talking with him for a week.
She apologizes when she comes back. She needed to figure some things up - firstly, the redhead tells him she is probably asexual - and maybe aromantic too, but she is not certain because the internet wasn't really clear about that.
Then Rachel confesses that she is not jealous of him in a romantic way - she is envious of his friendship with Annabeth. Percy is her first genuine friend that really appreciates her.
This is the first grudge Perseus lets go for real before it even takes place - Rachel didn't leave him because of teenage drama, she ignored him out of confusion. Everyone is allowed space - he knows this better than anyone.
They don't kiss anymore. Not because Rachel doesn't like it - no, she is all for it - but because Percy is starting to think kisses should mean something - he is saving them.
They kiss once - when Rachel father calls for the first time this year - not to ask about her, but to tell Rachel he found this amazing all-girls school. To Percy, kisses mean comfort.
They cuddle a lot, though. These past few years of fear have made Percy very touch-starved.
It's sophomore year - and Percy is in five AP classes: Macroeconomics&Microeconomics, Statistics, Calculus AB, Physics 1, and Comparative Government and Politics.
He is planning on taking both AP Computer Science classes, Psychology, Physics 2, and Calculus BC next year; leaving only Electricity&Magnetism, Mechanics, Chemistry, and World History for his senior year.
If he lives, he is working on a tight schedule here. He doesn't know what he wants yet - and if he is in constant danger, it's already pretty lucky he can do high school - but probably something with Math.
Rachel says fourteen AP courses are ambitious - that he'll burn out. But math comes to him easily enough - it's in his blood.
She is also overworking: She is taking AP Environmental Studies, Art History, Drawing, 2-D Art and Design, and English Literature and Composition.
They complete each other. Rachel is planning on taking as many Art, History, and English courses as she can - he is taking as many Physics, Math, and Science as he can handle.
(She is also going to take on Japanese studies for some reason - probably for her GPA, but Perseus just teases her that she is getting too invested in anime)
Perseus doesn't care about languages anymore - the only languages that matter to him are C++ and JavaScript now.
They study together, they take naps together, they climb to the roof together, they flee school to visit Sally together - he is the Pinky to her Brain, the Scooby to her Shaggy, the Lois Lane to her Superman, the Robin to her Batman.
They look like troublemakers - They are honor roll students, but she is always with ripped pants dirty with paint, and he is always full of flowers everywhere, even in his muddy converses - a cliche to kill all cliches.
They're both nerds - he is the classic one, all polo shirts now, the first chair for every number-related class - and she is the artsy one - there's a brush behind her ear and her hair is so messy that half the time it covers her face.
Paola gifts him a pair of cheap frames without lenses once - saying it adds to the aesthetic - he totally uses them.
Persephone just makes him flower-crowns, and giggles when he matches them with his polo shirts.
When winter comes, he goes back to his hoodies and sweaters and gloves - to find out he doesn't miss them a lot.
Rachel introduces him to polaroids - and they look eerily pretty in the winter, her hair looking like blood spilling over the snow - and he loves it.
If he survives - he can feel Rachel slapping him - when he survives, his college credits will be remarkable. The idea of doing SATs makes him want to cry - reading always does - but he'll get somewhere good - he knows it. Perhaps Stanford. Or NYU. Or the dream of his life, MIT.
He is living his life to the fullest - he starts reading comic books, he gets really (really) into Tony Stark once Iron Man 1 comes out (even if he has to kill at least three monsters just to go to the movies), he plants trees and Rachel starts teaching him how to play her ukulele - but half his mind is still on the upcoming war.
Christmas vacation comes - and he goes to visit Camp Half-Blood, before heading back to his mom. It's quite memorable, if only by the fact that Nico Di Angelo freaking betrays him.
He tells Percy to come to the Winter Solstice with him. Most of the campers are not going - the war effort is in an all-time high - but Percy has never gone before. Hades will be there - it'll be great!
Perseus should absolutely be less surprised with the outcome - seeing that Nico is inviting him in Cabin 1, post-dinner, and they don't even stop to talk to Chiron about it.
But Percy goes. Because Percy wants to make amends.
There's no time to really talk to anyone. They travel in Blackjack for the Empire State Building - and it's fine.
They go up to Olympus, Nico shows him everything in the god's land, the temples are a work of art, if not kind of old, and the meeting is kind of okay, even if the gods are squabbling children.
Then the gods leave, and Perseus thinks they're leaving too.
"My father needs a word with you"
Perseus feels the betrayal claw on him. There are no shadows in the white hall, there's no way for him to escape. Nico looks apologetic - Percy wants to clock him in the face.
"He promised to tell me more about my mother" Nico pleads "He will tell me more about where I've come from. Please, Percy."
Nico is cute. He is, for a soon-to-be fourteen-year-old. But his pretty face and exquisite white eyes don't make him any less of a freaking liar. All his handsome male straight friends betray him - it's a worrying pattern now.
He muses for a second that they also all have a crush on Annabeth - gods, the blonde attract the worst types.
It's double-crossing - Percy ends up in an all-white cell that burns his retinas without any weapons because Zeus wants praise in the middle of this freaking war - doesn't matter if a hundred demigods die, if he only has the glory.
Nico ends up with barely any information - Zeus didn't promise anything. The god of the skies is a lying-ass motherfucker - literally.
And Zeus justifies it - He says Perseus is a criminal because he awakened Typhon. So Hephaestus issues a quest so he can save a hundred demigods, he destroys a powerful titan weapon of doom, and he is the villain? Sure, Jan.
Perseus writes this grudge in his heart - that's where trust will take you. To a cell. Betrayed by a "friend". Again.
He flinches when Nico comes into his cell, pins him to the wall and promptly begins to try and strangle him. He wants to melt in the boy's shadow - to go and never give him a chance to explain - but he looks so guilty Percy waits for his repentance.
The son of Zeus saves him, but Perseus is still pissed off. The god of thunder has threatened to kill him off at least two times now, what is to say he wouldn't have killed off Percy for the sake of glory?
He half hopes Zeus had killed him off. The war is close, too close - Nico wouldn't be the Prophecy's child. There would be no child. Olympus would fall - and Percy would have seen it all from his very comfortable couch in Elysium.
He wants Kronos gone - but he kind of wants Olympus to fall with the Titan.
Nico flies him down to the Earth - the elevator is monitored. Zeus has left, like many others - not to bother with the war effort against his main enemy, but to go to the human world mess with people.
Some gods are doing something - He has heard from Annabeth that Artemis is leading the widest hunt ever, with her brother by her side; Hermes (with Hephaestus help) is delivering Celestial Bronze, other metals, old schematics and a whole lot of fuel to Camp Half-Blood every few weeks; Poseidon is fighting his own war, in the ocean; Dionysus is at Camp - and this time, he is really helpful with the battle formations; Demeter is on the Underworld - Chiron seems to think his father is preparing for war, but Percy sorely doubts it.
Percy is taking some people with him to Sally's Christmas dinner. Just Annabeth, Clarisse, Rachel, Connor, Travis, and Charles - people who don't have a present family to celebrate it with.
Grover is coordinating the dryads up in San Francisco with his second cousin, Gleeson Hedge - they are the first to fall if anything goes wrong in Mt. Othrys.
"I think you should stay." He tells Nico.
"You don't trust me anymore." It's not actually a question.
Percy doesn't trust the boy. Not at all - it's the third time he does something shady to achieve his ends based on emotional turmoil. But he is a good person - it's just his father's cursed temper and his grief.
"It's not that. You're needed for the war effort."
Both of them know it's a lie. Percy doesn't care - he deserves to be bitter a little longer.
Percy goes back home. Christmas is amazing - even if Rachel asks him where Nico is because he is talking about making amends with the boy for a while now.
He goes visit Persephone - but she is occupied, so he wanders through the Underworld after Bianca di Angelo - someone he, for some reason, never been able to reach. It's a pointless endeavor by now.
He finds her. Or else, he finds a shadow of her - she is blocked from his view. Bianca doesn't talk to him - they weren't close - but she guides him to a girl.
Her name is Hazel Levesque.
She seems lost - like most ghosts - but something in Percy calls for her. It's the color of her skin and the sparkle in her golden eyes - Hazel remembers him of himself.
He promises to visit more - even though he doesn't think she'll remember it - and leaves to go back to the surface - he will finish the sophomore year.
And Percy does. After a very distressing break, he is doing his best. His grades drop a little in English because he can barely focus - half his mind is on the war and Nico's betrayal and Hazel Levesque's golden eyes.
Miraculously, his GPA doesn't fall - he still is taking a ridiculous amount of AP classes, and barely has time to breathe - dark circles grow under his eyes, and he looks like a mess - but now he is a Junior.
That's why, as soon as the year ends, Rachel takes him on a road trip with Connor. They go all the way to Boston, then Portland, Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Syracuse, Baltimore, and Filadelfia, before going back to NY.
They are stopped five times by the police - because Percy is black, and it's Rachel driving the Camaro, because she has a learner's permit and Connor is, somehow, an approved license holder.
They are on a pier, enjoying the view of the beach. They did the last week alone because Connor wanted to go check on one of his cousins - at least, that's what he said, with an over-exaggerated wink that both Percy and Rachel ignored for the sake of their sanity.
She tells him about Clarion Ladies Academy - but that her father is at least mildly happy with her GPA this year, even if he disapproves of her Art focused AP classes. Percy thinks Mr. Dare would love him, with his APs on Economics and Politics, if only he was rich. And white.
This time, when Charles Beckendorf arrives in a Pegasus to tell him it's time, Rachel doesn't kiss him - she justs hugs him and makes him promise to call her.
Perseus doesn't go to the Andromeda Ship - he is needed in Camp. He is useless on the water - but they do need him to improve battle strategy.
Charles Beckendorf is dead. Thalia is the one to tell them - she was in her father's palace helping with a monster under her Lady's orders - he went on the mission alone.
Percy talks briefly with Beckendorf's ghost - is his worst developed power, and he can barely hold the "seance" for more than a few minutes. He does it with only Nico di Angelo for witness - the others are the way to close to the situation.
There's a spy passing information to Luke.
They look at him. Doesn't matter how much he does, he is always the first suspect - he is a son of Hades. He was friends with a lot of people on the other side. He was gone for a year and a half, who knows where.
Perseus wants to say that he has helped to save their asses four times now - that without him in the Labyrinth, they would all be dead right now - and that Charles was basically his older brother.
Then he points out he wasn't even here - he had no idea of any plans of anything - and he told him about the spy, so he is not the freaking spy, go point fingers at each other instead of him.
When they start yelling, he stops them - this is not the time, he was just angry at their accusations. They have to burn Charles shroud. Silena is inconsolable - Percy is not very far from it, but he is not a public crier. The last time he cried in public, Luke was dead on a cliff.
Percy speeds up the line for Elysium to Beckendorf - his brother deserves it.
They read the prophecy together - Perseus already read it last summer, he doesn't even care anymore. They look at him anxiously - no one has forgotten that he abhors most of the gods.
Clarisse and Michael Yew fight, but Lee Fletcher - with a mechanical arm built by Beckendorf himself, still re-learning how to shoot arrows and forever incapable of playing the guitar again (but the keyboard is not ruled out yet) - stops them: They can share the chariot. The war is more important - is not the time for petty fights.
Chiron shows them Typhon - and Perseus has a sliver of hope that they can destroy Kronos and be free of the gods at the same time - It's a horrible hope, because he loves Persephone and some of them are even okay sometimes, but he really wants Zeus to go to Tartarus for at least a century, so Perseus doesn't meet him again in this life.
But he also wants the gods to win, because there's a lot of dead people - innocents, people who have nothing to do with this war.
He dreams of Rachel. Rachel is painting Luke - and Percy wakes up crying, for the boy the gods took away.
Annabeth takes him aside and reminds him of Achilles' Curse. He is off to May Castellan's house - the last place Luke has been - for it's his best and only chance, its what Annie thinks. And she is scarcely wrong.
Perseus hates the gods. They wrecked a family - and for what? May Castellan - forever waiting for a son that will never come back, haunted by visions of his future, plates of burned cookies everywhere.
Perseus doesn't pity her - he rages against the gods, who brought madness upon this woman and then left her to it. Where was Apollo, the god of health? Dionysus, who is supposed to control mental health? Artemis, whose job is to protect women?
Hestia is kind - but she is still a goddess. She could've prevented this - but she hides in her hearth and abstains - and that's enabling. Hestia enables the other gods to do as they please, even when she is the oldest. She says they ignore her - oh well, she ignores them right back! He has no time for the laments of another all-powerful being.
So he goes to his mother and asks for her blessing. Then, just to be sure, he asks Persephone's too.
He thinks about his anchor - where does he want it to be in his body. He doesn't want somewhere in his back - where he can't see it - or in his gut - where anyone can stick a sword. He settles for the bottom of his back - where he can at least touch it and it's well protected by armor - and dives.
Perseus hates water - and he has an uncanny fear of drowning. He feels pain - everywhere, horrible pain.
His vision now doesn't have Annabeth's face - the blonde is his link to the demigod world, Persephone is his link to the Underworld and his mom is his link to childhood - but the person who grounds him is Rachel.
He is stronger. He feel his powers at his fingertips - Perseus feels the Underworld as a whole, and it's overwhelming.
Green flames explode from his hands. Flowers made of shadows curve around his ankles - he has been training since he was 12, but now his body can sustain all of his power. This is all his.
He goes meet with his father - Perseus manipulates him. He tells Hades he'll be the hero, but the god himself can be praised for more than being his father. That he should join the battle against Typhon - That's his chance of proving himself. Also, there's less paperwork for him if there are fewer dead people.
His father is amused with his blatant bribing, but he thinks about it, Percy can tell. In a way or another, he excuses himself and goes back to the surface where he is needed.
Persephone stalls him. She asks him to stay, just for this night. He can go back in the morning - he sleeps, and dreams of Rachel again, drawing in the sand. In greek.
He is scared for her - she is having demigod dreams, but she is mortal. Something is wrong.
Typhon is getting worse - and Kronos draws closer to NYC. It's time - he calls for Blackjack and leaves - Mrs. O'Leary, who has become more or less of a mother to his own hellhound, follows. Persephone promises to convince Hades.
They have about sixty campers able to fight heading for the Empire State Building, and five healers. The ones too young to lift a sword or string a bow stayed back at Camp with Argus - fifteen children between 5 and 9 years old.
Percy knows he looks different - he looks just like his father. He has gained a godly aura - he has no scars anymore, no imperfections. Perseus looms over all of them - he went from 5'7'' to 6'2'' - it's a weird view, from up there. It's still strange when they look at him with a mix of fear and admiration.
Perseus Jackson is officially their leader. He hates Olympus - but he will give his life to defend every single one of his demigods.
The vision Hestia shows him just makes him want to tear this throne room with his bare hands - Luke was a kid. He was a kid - and the gods corrupted him. Thalia was a kid - and the gods took her life, twice. Annabeth is still a kid - they all are - and she is here planning battle strategies.
Annabeth missed an extra year of formal education - while Percy is a Junior, Annabeth barely qualifies for a Freshman - because the gods took this from her too.
Percy rages. The ground of Olympus trembles beneath him - he wants to kill something.
Then Hermes appears - like this whole war is not his fault in the first place, the literal bastard - just to relay a message from Athena that gives them a plan that Annabeth was already putting into works and tells Percy to stay away from Annabeth.
Like she cares. Like Athena has ever, ever, done anything for Annabeth.
Perseus can't punch Athena, so he punches the messager (also, because he freaking guilt trips both of them about Luke). He has nothing to lose - he is going to die by the end of the day anyway, and they need him too much.
He has punched a god before - Ares, in a desert in the middle of Los Angeles - but this time, it's satisfactory. He feels good after it.
Hermes seems strangely resigned - He feels guilty about Luke too, but Perseus doesn't think it's enough. It'll never be enough, not while the gods leave their children to rot in a cabin of rejects and May Castellan bakes cookies for a son that will never come back.
Hermes leaves, ashamed. It's only fair, Perseus thinks. They all should be ashamed.
They see the city asleep - the prophecy is in the works.
Perseus executes their strategy - every cabin is covering a tunnel, with the exception of Dionysus, because Pollux is with the Demeter kids, and the Hecate kids stay behind to use spells to overlook the city. Lincoln Tunnel is getting covered by Ares - who, this time around, is actively participating.
The undetermined who didn't desert are with Hermes - and the minor god's children are divided by specialty - most Hypnos and Morpheus children follow him directly, but the two sons of Iris go with the Apollo Cabin.
Annabeth executes Plan 23, automatons, mounting on Mrs. O'Leary (who has strict orders to take Annabeth anywhere she wants without stopping to play around) - she doesn't need his help with this, and Percy has a tunnel to defend.
That left the rivers uncovered - until Thalia appears, with magical sand money, and made the rivers cooperate.
The hunters join the Aphrodite kids - who are half a dozen children between 11 and 19 - the oldest being Silena Beauregard, who uses a crossbow that looks exactly like her immortal half-brother's one.
His bridge is completely covered on skeletons - but no monster comes, even if he hears explosions. He leaves an English Lieutenant from the Battle of Yorktown in command of the bridge - with Tyene, the oldest daughter of Morpheus, to be in alert and don't let Clovis sleep through the battle. Because he did it before - and while it is funny, it can't happen right now.
Perseus mounts Blackjack - and go see where the noise is coming from. It's the Williamsburg Bridge - where are most of Apollo's Cabin.
They fight - and Percy almost cries when he sees Luke, who is not Luke anymore. Luke, who is a puppet controlled by Kronos.
Perseus kills the Minotaur and the weight of his stone spikes collapse the bridge - and Michael Yew dies. This time around, the bridge falls silently into shadows, and he doesn't bother about searching for the corpse - he saw the boy falling, and his screams will haunt all of them, forever.
This time around, Annabeth is not there to protect him - Ethan also doesn't try to kill him. The Son of Nemesis doesn't leave Kronos side for a second - but there's regret in his eyes.
After the bloodlust is gone, Perseus collapses - Will has to bride carry him back. Overuse of his powers - he summoned skeletons and produced shadows, melted enemy swords (with the bonus of incapacitating them without killing), and sprouted stone spikes everywhere - there's even a vine or ten that he used to hold his friends from falling.
Perseus doesn't sleep quickly enough to not hear the yell of anguish that comes from Lee Fletcher - the pain of losing a brother and not being able to fight beside him.
But he does sleep - and he dreams. He dreams of Hades killing Maria Di Angelo, not Hera, like Zeus told Nico. He dreams of Zeus cursing the Oracle - and he seethes, because he also sees what happened to May Castellan.
He keeps getting angrier and angrier at the gods - it's building inside of him. But his friends are still here, still fragile. He can't let them suffer more.
Perseus wakes up, checks on everyone - most everyone is either injured and/or exhausted, but he checks on every camper. He knows all of their names, their ages, their cabins. - and promises to sit up to talk with Thalia and Nico - war makes him prone to peace - and promptly goes back to sleep.
He dreams of Rachel. He wants to scream for her not to come: but she'll anyway.
Perseus dreams of a boy. He is his age - maybe a little younger. His hair is blonde and his skin is whiter - but Percy glances at his eyes, and there are waves in them.
There's a girl by his side - she is familiar to Percy, somehow. They're climbing a mountain.
The dream ends and Percy can't make heads or tails of it. He asks Thalia if she has a brother, but she says that she doesn't, looking wistful.
Prometheus is tempting - but he knows there's no Luke anymore, there's only Kronos. And the gods are horrible, vile and immature - but they never killed any of Percy's friends. Some of them died for the gods - but never by their hands, so for now, Perseus would toe the line.
He does want to punch Hermes again. He takes the Pythos - if everything goes wrong, he will not hesitate in going down for the sake of his friends - but there have been six deaths, and it's enough.
"Was it worth it?" He asks Ethan.
"Alabaster is alive" And it's all the answer Percy needs.
He dreams of Ethan and Alabaster. Alabaster is alive, yes, but he is missing half a leg - courtesy of Clarisse herself. Luke - Kronos - is indifferent, and Ethan curses the daughter of Ares - "The sword that took from us will take from you"
He contains Hyperion with his shadows. Then he helps Grover (who was half asleep, because of Morpheus) to make the Titan into a tree. It's a pomegranate tree - then he sets hellish fire to it and sacrifices it to Hades and Persephone.
A pig is in the sky - this time around, Annabeth and her frightening army of automatons kill it with Nico's help.
Perseus laughs - because Annabeth has about two hundred automatons under her command, Martin Luther King and Alexander Hamilton leading the charge with a giant bull being ridden by the Mad Hatter behind them.
It's weird to see historic figures Percy admires - like Jane Bolin, Sylvia Mendez, or Abraham Lincoln - fighting alongside people he downright despises - Thomas Jefferson and the goatfucker, herpes-ridden, Colombus. His Comparative Government teacher would have a field day.
Annabeth and Nico's pair up is amazing - They fight alongside like they have been doing it all life.
Nico is a force of nature, flying and commanding the winds to do his bidding - His eyes shine in the midst of the stormy clouds. His specialty is weather manipulation - he hasn't had much success with direct energy or electric discharges.
Annabeth has her mother's tenacity for war - and her clever mind for strategies. It's clear in her eyes - she is racking the weaker points of the Clazmonian Sow in her mind and destroying it. The automatons hold the pig in place - and she makes bacon of it.
Hercules couldn't do it. Nico and Annabeth can, because they have the power and the mind.
Perseus is still fighting off monsters - but they're too widespread, so they retreat to the doors of the Empire State Building.
Percy does a mental tally: of sixty-two campers, six are confirmed dead, twenty are injured and nine are out of commission on exhaustion. There should be 27 orange shirts here - but there's only twenty.
Percy wonders if the seven missing are injured, or dead, or under a pile of rubble somewhere with no one to help them. Is there someone being slowly eaten by monsters? Is there someone alone and injured and abandoned? He doesn't know.
He prays that those seven deserted them - at least that means they probably are alive and well.
Perseus looks at Phoebe's grief-stricken face, and he knows it's not probable - she had almost three dozen hunters with her, and now there's barely fifteen still fighting, Thalia nowhere to be seen.
They prepare for their last standing - Percy keeps conjuring skeletons, but they're no match for the sheer strength of the hyperborean giants. Nico is shoulder to shoulder with the Stoll brothers against a group of telkhines - Clarisse is bringing down a whole giant by herself.
After the Party Ponies save them - Chiron leads the charge against his own father, and Perseus is so proud of his mentor he can't even put in words how much - he goes to sleep. Fighting gets him tired quickly, and they'll come back.
He dreams of Dionysus. Perseus is not fond of any god who is not Persephone, but Dionysus is mostly okay sometimes. He seems to care about his children.
Perseus couldn't care less about the Western Civilization - but he'll care for Pollux. It's one of his demigods, after all, and Underworld people are possessive of theirs (i.e. Hades and Persephone).
He dreams of Thalia, in her father's palace, begging Poseidon to leave the underwater war and help with the invasion - His wife is none too happy with the presence of his immortal bastard daughter.
He wakes up to Rachel's helicopter falling - how is Rachel even awake, is a mistery.
The improbable pair Nico and Annabeth strike again: The girl knows how to fly helicopters, and the boy can fly himself. They save the redhead and the pilot - everything is fine.
"You're not the hero"
"Why did you risk yourself to tell me something I already know?"
Rachel doesn't explain - she can't. But she has a vision that says that he is not the hero. The hero of what? Perseus has no idea. But there's no way any of his cousins is dying for this stupid prophecy.
Suddenly, there's a drakon there. Rachel has another prophecy - Perseus fears she will walk the path that led May Castellan to destruction - that only a child of Ares will be able to kill it.
Bad news: All children of Ares are otherwise out of battle.
Clarisse is resting after a nasty concussion - and her brothers and Apollo's children are fighting yet again because Lee Fletcher is in no condition to stop them and Michael Yew is dead. Ares' side refuses to fight without the chariot - which Cabin 7 has hidden somewhere.
The best they can do is fend the drakon off until a miracle occurs. And it does: Clarisse, in full armor, manages to lead her brothers into battle.
Clarisse is dead. Something shatters inside of Perseus - and he leaves the drakon for the Ares' children to solve - he can't kill it anyway - and starts to vaporize the army behind it.
He is so caught up in bloodlust, that he almost misses Clarisse slaying a dragon. Clarisse, who has no armor. Clarisse, who is alive.
Ethan's curse rang true - Clarisse's weapon took something from her.
Silena is a traitor. She is also dead - which makes her a martyr, and probably going to reunite with her boyfriend in Elysium.
He remembers how easy is to fall for Luke's charm - he was - is - still in love with the guy. Percy thought the son of Hermes could do no wrong - and he wonders how much of his rage against the gods sprout from his influence.
Something evil inside of Perseus's mind tells him she deserved it. It tells Perseus that better her than Clarisse - but he shuts it down, and concentrates on his shining red friends.
He hates Ares. But he might just have an okay side if he can produce such a magnificent daughter.
Silena is the Patroclus to Clarisse's Achilles, and the Drakon is Hector - and the daughter of Ares is sure to parade its dead body.
It's the first time they feel like they are winning. It doesn't last - but as he hugs Clarisse tightly, he thinks he might cry of relief.
Clarisse looks tough - but she is a wonderful human being. She loves Silena with her whole heart - even more than she loves Chris, her best friend. Silena might've been in love with Charles - but she and Clarisse? They are soulmates.
The damned Pythos is following Perseus - and he is done with it. He knows where hope will survive best. Rachel wants him to give it to Hestia - but he owns the fire goddess nothing.
She has never interfered, not once, to help the dozens of demigods with no family that is abandoned in Cabin 11, and he won't forgive her for it.
He sacrifices hope to Persephone because that's what spring is. Spring is the hope of a new life. Maybe, Perseus thinks, it'll convince his father to come.
They go down to make their final stand against the forces of Kronos. There's not a lot of them - but they're not getting through those doors.
Well, his father doesn't come. But Poseidon does, with his whole army, Tyson and Thalia behind him, and the scales seem to turn.
And then Kronos cuts the barrier. Perseus can see his Mom (why is his Mom here with a handgun?!) and Poseidon fighting against the monsters under the eyes of extremely confused mortals.
Some are trying to break the barrier - but it's futile. Kronos has corraled them like sheep for the slaughter.
It's just him, Grover, Annabeth and Nico, fighting against Kronos vanguard - which is big, but not as strong as they are.
Kronos passes him without resistance - Ethan follows, but there's anger in his eyes - not for Percy, but for the monster he is leashed to. Alabaster is not there.
As soon as Kronos powers stop working on them, the four follow the titan - and some things never change, no matter the universe.
This time, it's Nico who falls because of Hera - it's her curse over all of her husband's bastards.
Ethan takes one look at Perseus, and they don't even need to fight. They have been friends for longer than they have been enemies - and they both loathe the gods, but Kronos is as much of an all-powerful controller being as any of the Olympians.
They battle against Kronos - Perseus has only his ax against his scyther - a true Underworld fight.
Ethan dies. And Perseus bloodlust consumes him - it clouds his eyes and he can only keep fighting.
"If... if we've had cabins... and they had thrones"
It's true, and more than ever, Perseus wishes Kronos wasn't such a bastard. He wouldn't bother killing the gods - but the titan is a way worse option.
"LUKE, PLEASE" It's Annabeth. He doesn't have her faith - she didn't saw his transformation. But he tries anyway because he loves Luke just as much as he hates Kronos.
"Luke, remember our summer" But his words are caught up in his throat when the titan throws him against the wall.
But the amalgamation of his friend and an all-powerful being looks confused, so props for his genius best friend.
Kronos shows them a rainbow message of Typhon - and that's where Perseus it's pretty sure he starts liking his father.
Because the Lord of the Dead opens up the earth and gets out in a black chariot guided by skeletal horses like a king. By his right side, is Persephone, in armor battle as a queen should be. By his left, is Demeter, who looks every single bit like the matron she is supposed to be.
Behind him, a hundred thousand dead roars. Charon is mounting Cerberus - and literal hell is unleashed upon the Father of Monsters.
The gods strike down Typhon, sending him back to be locked away - this time, in the depths of Tartarus instead of Mount Etna.
Kronos gets mad. Utterly, undoubtedly mad. He talks about burning Luke's body. Then he hurts Annabeth and breaks two promises in one fell swoop.
"Luke.... remember family" It's what Annabeth utters, but Perseus, already certain of their own demise, is crying now.
"That summer Luke, you promised to never hurt her again. You remember it? YOU PROMISED LUKE!!"
Annabeth's promise was already broken - he had hurt her, all those years ago, in Mt. Othrys. But the promise he made to Percy - that he would never hurt her again - is new and broken, in the river Styx no less.
Luke regains his own body, for a minute, and Perseus runs to him like a man in a desert with no water.
"Please, please tell me there's a way to undo this, Luke, please, please"
"There isn't one, Percy" And it's the first time he hears Luke call him Percy, Percy and not Perseus, in his own voice, in two years. Percy cries.
"We... we don't have much time, hellebore. Give me Annabeth's dagger. Before he... before he takes back"
Luke calls him hellebore and it makes him start crying all over again. He gives him the dagger - and Luke kills himself, taking Kronos out with him.
Luke doesn't need to ask if Percy has ever loved him - Percy kept loving Luke, one-sided as it was, even when Kronos was there.
He still crying over Luke's body when the gods arrive. Luke is dead. Ethan is dead. Silena is dead. Michael Yew is dead. Charles is dead.
He lost three of his best friends in two days. Ethan is dead. Luke is dead. Luke is dead.
Perseus can't stop crying. They take Luke's body away - but he can't stop. Annabeth explains what happened to the gods - most of it, anyway. Apollo says he is in shock - his father says he is a hero.
Perseus doesn't feel like a hero. Was this all worth it? Was it worth it the pain and the death and the suffering?
Persephone touches him - and he has no tears to cry anymore. She can't hug him here, but she'll do so later.
He stares at the walls, listening to his friends being awarded - compensated by their siblings and friends' deaths - with a blank stare. Perseus wants his mom.
They call for him. He raised his head but doesn't bother getting up. He just saved their asses - for the fifth time in a roll. He deserves to grieve.
They offer him immortality. A place between the gods.
He laughs. Zeus looks murderous, but he can't stop laughing.
"My apologies, but I have to refuse," he says. But in his mind, he is thinking about how could they even think he might want to sit between them and be an all-powerful being, be another god ignoring his children and messing with mortal lives while thousands die for him.
"Promise me, on the river Styx, that you'll give me the wish that I want."
They promise him, that if it's within their capabilities, they shall grant him his wish.
"I wish for every child at the age of twelve to be claimed. I wish for cabins in Camp Half-Blood, for every single minor god, and my own father. I wish for Calypso to be free, and to the demigods from the opposite side of this war to be given amnesty. It's not their fault. It's not any of our faults."
"You dare to-" Zeus begins, but Percy is really tired of Zeus.
"We fought your war, we won your battles. We, the unclaimed and rejected stowaways of Cabin 11. We, the children of minor and Underworld gods. We deserve respect. Just like my father deserves a throne, just like the minor gods deserve justice."
"Don't you fear us?" Athena asks, something weird shining in her eyes.
"I thought I would be dead today. At least if I die now, I'm dying for something I believe in."
It stays unsaid that he doesn't believe in them. The other demigods look at him worried - but he is not afraid of the gods.
They grant his wish. Some of them aren't happy with it, but they have to do it. He meets Calypso at the front gates of Olympus - and her smile can brighten the pits of Tartarus. He sees Alabaster talking with Lou Ellen - they are both crying.
He thinks it's the end - it's not. Thalia tells him Rachel left for Camp in her Pegasus - and his father has lift the curse, the Prophecy is gone, but he fears for his best friend.
Perseus is too tired for shadow travel - he does it anyway. He flickers, but anyway, he is too late.
It works. Rachel - his best friend - is the new Oracle. Someone jokes they can't be together anymore and Rachel lifts an eyebrow.
"We never were. Didn't you see the last few hours?" Well, he did out himself. Mostly - they might say it's just friendship, and he will hate the way they twist it. Luke wasn't a villain, and Perseus isn't a pure hero with a heart of gold.
Perseus is healing from lost love - and Annabeth is too. His crush on her was only a crush, he thinks - She is his best friend first and foremost. They cry together at the bonfire that burns away the shrouds of 43 demigods - from both sides - and 16 hunters of Artemis. Their souls all rest in Elysium now.
Alabaster comes back to Camp and helps his siblings to build the new Cabin for Hecate, full of spelled blocks and magic chimneys. Clovis and Tyene have their hands full with their own cabins - it doesn't help they keep getting sidetracked with naps.
Somehow, Nico, Thalia, and his bond over helping construct Cabin 13 - They are both way too invested in the goth vibe, mostly because Cabin 1 looks like a temple, and Cabin 3 looks like a beach cabin. And both of them are so over it.
Perseus doesn't want a goth cabin - he is fighting against the aesthetic for years - but sometimes, there are no arguments. His Cabin is made of black marble, and there are skulls everywhere, with torches shining with green fire. Outside, at least. Inside, it looks like Persephone's garden, with input from the queen herself. It's ready just shy of the end of summer vacation.
Rachel tells the next Great Prophecy. Perseus isn't such a positive person to think it won't affect him - he hopes at least it'll wait until he is done with High School.
That night, he dreams of the blonde boy again - it's his first night without nightmares since the battle. He has a scar in his lip, and his green eyes pierce Percy's soul. Perseus wonders if they'll ever meet, wonders if this boy is one of the Seven of the Prophecy.
But alas, Perseus lets it go. The summer is over - he is sixteen, somehow. He is alive and going to go back to his mortal life and his junior year, and grief. Not everything is fine - but eventually, it will be.
It's not the end. Not yet.

Summry:
AU where Percy is roman and Annabeth is searching from him. "But you still listened to me, Jackson" Annabeth replied with a small smile on her lips. "But I still listened to you, Chase" he repeated copying her smile, the boy's smile was predatory, the smile of a boy who knows he's going to get in trouble ... and he doesn't care.

Romans exist Annabeth repeated over and over again as she walked beside Nico.
They were both leading the Greek camp, walking the streets of New Rome. As much as Annabeth wanted to pout, she couldn't stop admiring the columns, the buildings, the marble stairs… all the classic architectural elements that Annabeth thought would be in Rome, they were here, in San Francisco. The whole city exorbitated wealth and classicism, the people wearing a mix of robes and modern clothes, the streets lined with shops that had the smallest campers trotting from window to window. Among the people walked what were lares, spirits - ghosts - of the home, Nico had already warned them of them when he had visited the camp for the first time together with Jason and with the blessing of his father, becoming an ambassador of Hades ... Pluto .
Now that they were in Rome, Hades is Pluto.
And Athena, Minerva. And Minerva has no children and is not a strategist goddess. Here is a simple virgin goddess of the arts.
On the Field of Mars were two people shoulder to shoulder, dressed in purple, white and gold robes, like the ancient Roman emperors. One was blond-haired, and Annabeth knew instantly that it was Jason, his hair shining in the sunlight, while next to him was a Latin girl, with long dark hair in a braid.
"Annabeth. Welcome to New Rome” Jason welcomed, as he spread his arms before them, his blue eyes narrowing at his smile. “She is Reyna, the second praetor of Rome. Nico, you already know her. "
"Daughter of Minerva " Reyna reached out to Annabeth. Annabeth could notice how her siblings were tense, Malcolm was behind her trying to calm the little ones.
"Athena" Annabeth corrected in the calmest way possible, her body seemed calm, but she was watching every movement of the praetor. Annabeth had realized that the girl was just like her, a strategist ready for an attack at any moment.
"Welcome to New Rome" Reyna slightly moved one of her eyebrows. “Jason's friends are our friends. We hope that your instance here is as placid as possible. I'm leaving my colleague Jason to take you on a tour of our city, I have to attend to some business ”Reyna gave Jason a look, one of those looks that is only understood among familiar people, gave him a squeeze on the arm and left followed by her two metal greyhounds.
"Really, Jason? Minerva?"
"I know I'm sorry. I've told her- Hello to you too Travis, yes Connor, I haven't forgotten about you, I'm talking to Annabeth for a moment, can you-? Thanks, Malcolm” Jason tried to get rid of the Stoll brothers, Malcolm who was seeing everything from behind, grabbed the two brothers by their ears and led them to the other end of the Field of Mars. "As I said. I told Reyna, I told her everything I needed to know about the Greeks and Camp Half-Blood, but she is…” Jason waved his hand in the air trying to find a word. "Difficult?"
Annabeth studied Jason for a few more seconds, making him more nervous than he was, his hand kept moving his glasses and his feet moved slightly from side to side. Annabeth rejoiced knowing she made Jupiter's son nervous.
"I don't blame you Jason, you're just trying to do what you can." Jason's shoulders immediately relaxed at those words. Annabeth may have been proud but not a masochist. "Now show us where to stay, oh preator."
"Now do you know Latin?"
" I've done a bit of research."
---
Their rooms were simply a camp built by a group of Roman demigods on the outskirts of the city of New Rome, as far away as possible.
Big tents with all their amenities arranged for the campers, the smaller greek campers were hopping around, excited about a night of camping out in the open, the hut bosses were running after them to calm them down, though many of them gave up even before chasing them.
"I never would have thought the Romans would exist," Malcolm whispered next to Annabeth. They were both a bit away from the chaotic camp watching them. "I wish Chiron was here." Annabeth nodded slightly; Chiron had been her father since he ran away from his family in San Francisco. The two had been inseparable since she arrived at the camp shortly after Thalia's death, Chiron always came to her when she had a problem, always counting on her opinion in any matter that arose. “Do you think he will be here? Come on, Annabeth, don't look at me like that, we have the same mother,” he laughed. “You haven't stopped looking for him since the battle, and I know you're waiting for the right moment to tell Jason. Have you ever considered that maybe he is a fugitive demigod? "
Annabeth had indeed considered that this boy had become a fugitive demigod. A demigod without a camp, who wandered from one place to another away from monsters and without having a stable place.
“Yes, I have thought about it, but…” Annabeth could feel her cheeks flush with embarrassment, “it's a hunch, okay? I know it's stupid, but I feel like it must be around here."
Annabeth wanted to drown in humiliation, Athena's children didn't follow hunches, they followed clues and logic.
Malcolm stared at her for a long time, until his shoulders sagged in defeat, “Of course it's not stupid. I just want you to remember that there is a possibility that he is not here…” Malcolm shifted between his own feet, unsure. "Or that you will never find it."
---
The Romans dining room was not disappointing either. Long wooden tables adorned with fruit bowls, silver jugs filled with drink and glasses of the same metal. The Romans were talking and throwing jokes as well as food, some were speaking louder, while others were observing their companions.
The image itself was a shock to Annabeth, she didn't know why, but she had imagined the Romans as stoic people, eating meals without laughter or talking, but the image in front of her showed her that she had been wrong.
The sound of a glass silenced everyone in the dining room, Reyna was up with a small golden dagger and a glass of the same colour, "We want to officially welcome, both my partner Jason, like me" Jason like Reyna , raised and with a golden glass in his hand, but instead of being next to him he was at the table of the Greeks with his friends Leo and Piper. “We hope that your stay in Nueva Roma will be as comfortable as possible and that our relationships for the future will be strengthened and grown for prosperity. Iubentium."
“We are very grateful that you have allowed us to stay in your camp, we hope that, like you, our relationship grows and strengthens over time and for future generations, in order to have a powerful ally among us. Cheers.” While making the speech, she tried to look around to find the boy without attracting much attention, but not locating him, Annabeth focused only on Reyna. When she finished Annabeth raised her glass at the same time as Reyna, both looking at each other as they drank from her glass, calculating each other's every move.
"Nice speech" Nico murmured next to her.
"It's sarcasm?"
“Pf, yes and no. The speech was fine, but you could tell in the air how you were throwing knives at each other” he said simply as he swallowed four chips at the same time. Clarisse who was listening nearby snorted proudly at Annabeth.
"I do not like her. She’s hard to read,” Annabeth admitted as she tossed her food back and forth without much appetite.
“Normal” Nico drank from his Coca-Cola, “her mother is Bellona, the Roman goddess of strategy. She is also watching you Annabeth and can't figure you out. You both collide by nature- Will, I'm not going to eat a pear, I hate pears."
Annabeth let the two boys argue about nutritional values and her gaze began to search among the many heads of the Romans, but as before, no clue of that boy.
"Oh Hazel. What good find "Annabeth looked up listening to the voice of Jason. Hazel, she supposed, was the girl with dark skin and curly hair, the girl was very short in stature, maybe she was not over thirteen. She was dressed in a purple T-shirt and gold breastplate, her matching helmet carried under one arm, and a sword slightly too large for her hung from her hip. "Ah, I didn't know you were talking to your brother, I'm sorry Nico, but do you know where Jackson is?"
Hazel was thoughtful for a moment, but then shook her head, “He wasn't on watch today, and from what Frank has told me, I don't think he's in the stables. Maybe in the bathrooms? I do not know."
“Ah… don't worry, it doesn't matter. I just wanted him to meet the Greeks.” He turned to Annabeth when he saw her confused face. "Jackson is a ... how to say, a free spirit?" Jason laughed at the comparison. "He does not like to follow the rules very much and he always gets into trouble, surely you would get along well."
"He's my kind of man," Connor blurted out from behind his brother, his hair full of roots, growing little by little around his neck.
"Susan, please don't strangle Connor at lunch." Piper scolded Demeter's daughter from the other end.
"Susan, don't stop," shouted a son of Aphrodite from the other end.
The cries of the Greek demigods filled the air of the dining room. Some encouraging Susan to strangle Connor, Hermes cabin maliciously clawing at Connor's face to break the roots. Other campers rose from their seats to watch the show between Demeter's cabin and Hermes. Hazel who was still present next to Nico giggled at the ruckus that had formed in a very short time.
"I can't imagine what your camp will be like day by day."
Annabeth smiled at the teenager with pride warming her chest as she saw the scene that had been lovingly formed.
---
Ares's cabin exploded into cheers upon hearing the news that they were going to fight the Romans, at the same time, Hermes's cabin joined in the cheers, leaving the other campers staring at each other with terror in their eyes.
Annabeth studied Jason's proposal, she knew that it was tradition to have friendly fights (in the case of the Greeks to capture the flag), but after meeting Reyna, Annabeth expected any trap to catch the Greeks and give an excuse to the Greeks. Romans to attack them.
Nico and Piper were next to her, studying her reaction.
"Annabeth, I think Jason wouldn't have proposed this to us if there really was a trap." Piper tried to reason with her, inadvertently using her charmspeak.
"It doesn’t matter if he is a praetor, that doesn’t mean that they tell him everything" she murmured stubbornly, the two have been friends for a long time and her charmspeak no longer had that much effect.
"Nico, tell him that nothing is going to happen."
Nico, instead of answering, was silent with his two hands in his pockets, hunched over, looking at the ground, a small mouse skeleton curled up at his feet.
"What do you want me to say? What Chase said is true. ” Nico reached down and scooped up the mouse skeleton in the palm of his hand. “Jason is… a visionary. And visionaries tend to have a lot of ideas, and those ideas cause change. The Romans don't like change. They like tradition. And right now, the tradition is that both Greeks and Romans are separated, as they always have been. "
"You're no help, death boy," Piper growled, earning an angry scowl from the smaller boy.
"Can you feel if something bad is going to happen?"
"If someone is going to die?" Nico frowned again, but this time in concentration. "No. Everything is still fine; nothing feels out of place. "
"You see? No carnage is going to form,” Leo exclaimed jovially from behind Piper. "Don't look at me like that mija, it's a good thing!"
"But that doesn't mean there is going to be a catch."
Piper threw both hands in the air, finally giving up on this conversation. Annabeth was too stubborn to change her mind.
The girl from before, Hazel, came back together with a boy much taller than her and leafier, they both greeted Nico happily and he responded dryly, as always, too focused on his new skeleton pet. The two Romans were there to guide them to the weapons room, where they can equip themselves for the afternoon games.
Hazel was talking animatedly to Nico, her curly hair trotting as she walked, the boy a little further behind the two demigods, always keeping a safe distance from the son of Hades. Annabeth raised an eyebrow when she noticed that the boy was afraid of poor Nico.
The leaders of the huts tried to line up their brothers to give them the necessary weapons, but as always, no one was listening to anyone, so everyone ran to get the best weapon they could find. Both Annabeth and Nico stood at the gate watching, both carrying their weapons on their hips, Annabeth watched her brothers giving advice to the other campers on which weapons would suit them best in battle, while Nico watched Will trying to calm her down. his brothers when it came to catching arrows and bows, a small group from Apollo's hut stayed behind Will, hinting that they would be the paramedics on the battlefield.
When everyone was already armed and protected with armour, they followed the two Roman boys to the Field of Mars.
“Wow, why do they have a battlefield? I also want one!" Ares's hut began to protest as they admired the battlefield.
"And have you seen his armoury?"
"I do not like. It's all outdoors, I prefer to be in the forest. "
“So you can tangle me with roots again? No thanks."
"I told you it was accidental!"
"Unintentionally does not mean catching someone with roots and hanging them from a tree."
"Mathew is trying to cast a spell on me!"
"The Romans are going to crush us," Nico muttered.
Annabeth didn't have the mind to worry about the campers, she already had different routes and strategies in mind to fight the Romans. Yes, the Romans may be very meticulous and were known worldwide for their formations on the battlefields. But the Greeks had a factor that they did not have, they had no order. The Greeks were neither orderly nor organized, in the battles each one went on his own, without following any training, and that freedom when fighting could give them an advantage right now.
The Romans were already in the middle of the field, all standing in ranks and cohorts, dressed in golden armour and red shields. The image gave Annabeth chills.
In front of the five cohorts were the two praetors, both dressed in purple capes and like the other Roman campers, in gold armour. Whereas Jason had an excited glint in his eyes as he spotted Leo and Piper amid the tide of demigods; Reyna, on the other hand, her gaze was not as friendly as that of her partner, with her arms crossed and her back straight she watched as the mestizo camp arrived at the place.
Annabeth wanted to get rid of the bad feeling she had in her body, she could imagine what the Romans were seeing when they arrived at the place, a group of unstructured demigods walking scattered around the place, some were running around, others were on top of others, some they were lagging in the back. Annabeth shook her thoughts, the Greeks defeated the army of Cronos, a titan, they were not weak.
When Annabeth arrived at the scene, standing in the front row, with the entire camp behind her, she watched Camp Jupiter, some of the campers who were there laughing at each other as they shot them glances.
“As you are smaller in number, a cohort will help you during the games. Fifth cohort."
The first cohorts began to laugh among themselves as they looked at the last cohort, in it, the two centurions in front were visibly discouraged. One of them took out a flask and began to drink from it, while the other centurion tried to shake him off.
"Each group go to your place."
And with that said, each group went to one side of the field. Annabeth waited for the Fifth Cohort to approach them.
"Good luck with the graecus."
"In the end, the outcasts gather among themselves."
"How many victories are we going to have already?"
"I think twenty-seven."
"No, thirty."
Despite the comments from the campers, one of the centurions tried to liven up the atmosphere, cheering up his subordinates, giving smiles and patting on the back, while the other centurion continued to drink from his flask while visibly leaning on his companion.
“We are the fifth cohort. Jason has told us a lot about you” the centurion introduced himself. "I'm Gwendolyn, and this is my partner Dakota ... don't worry he's drinking Kool-Aid", slapping her hand on the flask caught his attention.
"I hope you like losing." Dakota lifted his flask and took a sip. Annabeth raised an eyebrow.
"Annabeth. I guess you know who Nico is. She's Clarisse… There is Will… Oh, this is Piper…” Annabeth rummaged through the other campers with the cabin leaders, but seeing that the Stoll brothers were doing their thing, she stopped naming with a sigh.
"Are you all the praetors?" Dakota exclaimed upon hearing the number of names Annabeth had named.
"Mn? Oh no. We are the cabin leaders. A cabin by God. "
The Fifth Cohort gaped at them. Apparently, they did have more differences than they imagined.
“We are always defending ourselves. It's easier to accept defeat.” Gwen shrugged.
"Pathetic" Clarisse snorted. Both Ares's and Nike's cabins supported her.
"You don't know who is in the first cohort!"
"Of course, we don't know, we are new, remember?" said Fred, a Hermes boy, who bore a horrible resemblance to the Stoll brothers.
"And we do not care, we are going to crush them" a girl from Nike jumped up from behind, hitting her fist with her hand for more emphasis, both Nike's cabin and Ares's hut jumped in cheers at those words.
"Let’s not get so excited, they are not monsters ..." A child from Iris tried to quietly calm the other campers.
"Shut up Eugene."
Annabeth sighed and looked sideways at the Romans, "We never stare." Annabeth turned to be seen by both Greeks and Romans. "We are going to attack. Romans and Greeks. Will, choose one of your brothers to go into battle for medical help. Nico, I think you already know what to do. Nina, she will give you some inventions from Hephaestus's cabin, listen to her well what they are for. You Romans, stand in the front row, shields raised and prepare to defend. "
Annabeth watched as everyone fell into place. Will named some of his faster brothers to go to the field, while Nico caught some of the Hermes and Demeter campers explaining the plan. Piper, in the background, was practicing her spell-talk with Leo. Nina was handing out small gadgets to some of the campers followed by Hecate's children who were giving some explanations of how they worked. Clarisse, along with Nike's hut and Ares were sharpening their weapons, looking with sharp smiles at the Romans scaring them.
"How do you know we are going to win? She is nothing but a daughter of Min… Athena. And they are Romans, and they always play dirty, no matter what you do, we are going to lose” Annabeth made out Dakota's voice behind her as she fixed her golden bib.
"Athena always has a plan." Annabeth smiled at Malcolm's voice.
---
Ugh. Annabeth hated fighting in the open field, she preferred to fight in the woods of the half-blood camp, it was easier to hide there, and the trees helped her to form even more convoluted plans than usual.
From his place he could see how Reyna flew over the fields of Mars on the back of her pegasus, even from there he could see her frown and how she judged them from the sky. On the floor and sitting in a box, Jason was looking at them with bright and expectant eyes, Annabeth couldn't help but think that Jason looked like a labrador retriever, wagging his tail from side to side excitedly.
On the other side of the field were the other cohorts, preparing for battle, from her place, Annabeth could see as they were placed in an attack position, prepared to fight.
"Are you sure it's going to work?" Malcolm appeared behind her.
"I hope so." Malcolm glanced at her, looked like he wanted to say something, but at the last moment he closed his mouth and hunched his shoulders in defeat.
"They look prepared," he simply said. "I'm scared."
"For us?" Annabeth this time looked at him raising an eyebrow.
"Mn? No way. For them. I don't think I've ever seen Clarisse so excited in a battle, I think I've heard her say she's going to try to split the Romans in two. The Romans have never had to endure the fury of the sons of Ares. "
"And the Nike ones," Annabeth recalled.
"Don't remind me, ugh."
Both Annabeth and Malcolm laughed as they watched the Romans on the other side moving from side to side.
A trumpet sounded from overhead, Annabeth raised her head and saw Reyna look her directly in the eye. All of this was challenging. A challenge to see if the Greeks were worth it. And Annabeth already knew.
Taking one last look at the Romans already in position, she went to hers, raising her eyebrow in recognition of Reyna.
---
“Gwendolyn, I need you to help us form defences. Get into position swinging line, on the left flank, not right. Put the archers in the first row, not in the last, and then in the second row put an arrow line. "
Gwendolyn looked at her with wide eyes, shocked to hear the Greek know the Roman techniques and embarrassed that she did not know any Greek techniques. With a nod of his head he ran after his fellow Romans giving them Annabeth's orders.
Seeing that her zone was in motion, she braced herself. Praying that he hadn't been wrong.
From her spot she could see how the fifth cohort got into the position she had said, thanking herself for her curiosity in having studied Roman defence tactics. The fifth cohort advanced from their position, alerting the Romans to their orthodox attacking position, the archers should be behind not in front, and it was the right flank that was more protected than the left, just as soldiers with arrows should be in the front row. Annabeth heard the confused sounds of the other cohorts when she saw that position, cracking their positions and hesitating when attacking, she could hear the confusing sounds of the enemy cohorts from her place. That made her smile.
After appreciating their tactics in action, Annabeth jumped into action. Picking up her dagger, she jumped to the right flank, seeing that the defence of that area was weakened, running between the Roman and Greek campers.
From her place she could see Nico's signal, probably aided by his sister Hazel, a lump, almost imperceptible on the ground, with a silver coin gleaming in the sunlight. Taking a deep breath, she lunged for the signal, dodging and kicking the Romans, and the Greeks pulling away with experience. She could see the silver coin shining brighter every time she got closer, but halfway there she saw a group of Romans rush over the sign, taking it to the other side of the field.
"Shit," Annabeth blurted out after someone tackled her.
"Minerva's daughter," a Roman hissed. The boy had a shield almost the same height as him and was covered by golden armour. His face was covered by a helmet of the same material. Annabeth snorted at those words. Right now, he didn't feel like fighting an angry idiot. "You are going to learn to respect our goddess-"
Without letting him finish the sentence, Annabeth lunged towards the boy and he raised the shield reflexively, just before she hit the shield, Annabeth turned to the side, surprising the Roman with a kick to his back, throwing him to the side. From above, Annabeth raised her dagger to threaten the boy at her feet, but when she raised her hand, she realized that his dagger was gone. Looking everywhere for it, she acknowledges that the poor dagger had disappeared at the time of the tackle.
Annabeth wanted to hit a wall.
"Annie!" Piper yelled from her right throwing something at her. Annabeth reflexively raised her arm and saw that what Piper had thrown at her was nothing more than a stick in the shape of a 'y'. “Don't look at me like that, it was you who asked me to look for him if there was an emergency. Hey you! You are very sleepy ... be careful! oh, he fell head-on, do you think he'll be okay? That had to hurt. "
Annabeth shook her head and took the stick in the shape of an 'y' and with a calculated blow she hit the boy at her feet on the head knocking him unconscious. Taking the stick by its shorter sides, she put the longer stick in front of him, pointing her way. Pointing it to the ground.
The stick had not yet moved, leading Annabeth to despair, the Greek kept pacing back and forth, sometimes in circles, looking for the stick to vibrate. Was she wrong? She was seldom wrong, and she was too proud to accept that she was wrong. In addition, she was the daughter of Athena, she could find another solution, every problem has a solution. A small vibration went up his arms, jumping from his place he saw the long stick vibrate to the ground. Releasing the air that she did not know she was holding, she followed the vibrations of the stick, following the path that led to the stick vibrating even more. She stayed above a point where the vibrations had made her arms not stop shaking.
It's here. Annabeth thought.
A clash of metal made her raise her head.
"Do you want to become a skewer or what?" The boy in front of her yelled from his helmet. That boy had stopped an attack from the other side, an attack that was going for her. Snorting, Annabeth ignored him, but marked with her foot where the stick had pointed. "I've saved your life and that's how you thank me-"
Annabeth pushed the boy away when she saw from the corner of her eye that another Roman was going after them, throwing the boy to one side, she dodged the spear by turning on herself, grabbed that spear at the same time, pulling the Roman towards her and knocking them out with one of his elbows.
Turning around, she saw how both the boy and she were cornered by a group of Romans with their spears pointed at them. They both unconsciously approached each other, touching each other back to back, noticing their breaths. The boy's helmet fell right next to the two boys, Annabeth imagined that the boy had thrown the helmet out of frustration.
"You are surrounded" shouted one of the Romans.
"Really? I didn’t see it” the boy behind him said slightly, the boy resting his head on the crown of Annabeth's head, thanks to the fact that he was at least half a head taller than her.
"Surrender."
The group of Romans stepped forward, further closing the circle that the two boys had around them.
Annabeth surveyed her surroundings, still noting the weight on her head. Out of the corner of his eye he saw that the boy was wearing a short-sleeved shirt, revealing his tattoo on his arm. Annabeth's heart leapt at the sight of him.
"I have a plan."
"Huh. It's going to be suicide."
"Maybe. But I'm not going to lose to the Romans."
"Do I have to remind you that I am a Roman?"
Annabeth wanted to kick him. "There is water below us. Use it."
Annabeth noticed how the boy tensed behind her. "I cannot."
"Yes, you can. I've seen your tattoo."
The boy gulped, his breathing shallower and faster. "I've never done."
You're must be kidding me, Annabeth thought. "That's not what I saw in New York, seaweed brains."
"Gods, you're wise girl" Seaweed brains let out a slow breath, Annabeth could tell how the boy shook his head slightly. "I still remember you, you know? That back kick hurt too much."
"I took a stab for you."
Seaweed brains laughed shaking his shoulders, "I still owe you one, now that you mention it."
"Well, if you owe me one, use the water." Annabeth nudged him in the ribs as he hissed between her teeth.
"It’s not that easy. The Romans hate everything that surrounds my father, remember? Give thanks that they let me be in this camp" little by little, both Annabeth and the boy were placed in attack position.
"And what difference does it make if they hate you, all the more reason for you to use your power, they won't change their opinion of you."
"They can kick me out of the camp."
"You have another camp on the other side of the country."
Seaweed brains turned, making her pull with him. The breath of Annabeth stayed in her throat. The boy was just as she remembered, if not, even better. He had grown in recent years, his hair, which was short before, was now longer and even blacker if that was possible, making his long hair tousled as if he had walked by the sea. His sea green eyes shone with that expression of melancholy and sarcasm that captivated Annabeth the first time she saw him. Even his skin glowed a golden hue in the San Francisco sun, and he had grown in recent years, becoming taller than her.
"You're still as eloquent as the last time I saw you, wise girl."
"I didn't know you knew that word."
"I've done a bit of research. I still remember not understanding half of the words you were saying."
"But you still listened to me, Jackson" Annabeth replied with a small smile on her lips.
"But I still listened to you, Chase" he repeated copying her smile, the boy's smile was predatory, the smile of a boy who knows he's going to get in trouble ... and he doesn't care.
Seaweed Brain put his hand into a fist and instant water came around the couple, drowning the group of Romans who were around him. Annabeth heard the screams behind the wall of water, she also saw how the Romans tried to swim among the torrent of water, dust and sand, spears and shields sailed without an owner. Lowering his hands, the water calmed down as the tidal wave of Romans, weapons and shields fell to the ground.
"Here" Seaweed brains threw a dagger in his direction. Annabeth took it instinctively, realizing shortly after that it was her dagger. "You had lost it."
A scream sounded behind Percy, causing Annabeth to act quickly, making the Roman a hold on his arm and throwing him with all his might to the ground.
"Ugh, that had to hurt" Percy giggled, scratching his neck slowly. Walking towards the Roman he leaned out so he could see his face. "Now someone has suffered what I had to suffer. I still don't know how you can lift all that weight like nothing. You told me you were going to teach me, wise girl."
A horn sounded from the sky, ending the battle. Annabeth rose from the ground, stepping over the fallen Roman and standing by Percy's side, staring at the mess he had made. The water had formed a diameter of at least two kilometres, washing away all the opposing combatants, leaving the allies dry. Awesome.
"The Greeks have won" Reyna's voice rang out over the entire battlefield.
"Wow. As always your plans work" Percy glanced at her. "I thought you were going to be more excited to see me. It's been a few years now that I think about it, how's Grover doing, I tried to talk to him, but-"
Teary-eyed Annabeth silenced him with a fist on his jaw.
---
The first time Annabeth saw Percy was in New York, a few months before the battle against Kronos. The boy had run into her while on the run against a monster. Annabeth, out of sheer instinct, grabbed his arm and helped him escape from the monster, both working in perfect coordination, which caused Annabeth to have chills all over her body.
Annabeth and Percy had been partners ever since, both working shoulder to shoulder to defeat Cronos. The only problem was that Percy was never at Camp Half-Blood, always making excuses when Annabeth told him to visit.
It was when Grover showed up that Annabeth got her confirmations on Percy. He was a Roman demigod, not a Greek, he was the son of Neptune, not Poseidon. A strange sensation had risen up the girl's back, she could even notice her mother looking at her with accusing eyes.
You have joined the enemy. With the enemy.
She even noticed how a bubble of hatred grew when he thought of the Roman demigod, but when he saw those green eyes, the bubble exploded. The boy was looking at her fearfully, his eyes staring at the ground, preparing to leave her sight, but he also had a defeated look, as if he already knew what was going to happen. Annabeth shook off the feeling of that bubble of hatred and smiled at Percy, making that look the boy had disappear in a moment.
From that day on, Percy, Grover and Annabeth were inseparable, always staying at the boy's house to make plans, although it was more like Annabeth making plans and Grover and Percy eating Miss Jackson’s cookies. Part of her time she was asking about the world of the Romans, her curiosity floating around as she listened to the information the boy gave her. She learned that Neptune was not as respected as in the world of the Greeks, she also heard how Percy told him the threats he suffered when he tried to use his control over the water. The only person he got along with was Jason, a son of Jupiter, they were both in the same cohort, and now they were more than friends, both always together, despite the voices of the lares and the other demigods, all of them wanted to keep the great Jason away from the son of Neptune, a boy who only brought bad luck and trouble.
Annabeth and Percy grew closer each day, somehow Percy complemented her. On the outside it seemed that he was nothing more than a handsome boy without a head, but being almost living together in the boy's house, Annabeth realized that it was only the boy's personality, he was much smarter than he seemed, filling in the blank holes of Annabeth's plans. He also had blind faith in her, something that caused her mixed feelings. His fatal flaw was loyalty, Minerva had told him on one of her missions.
And the day of the Battle of New York arrived, they decided it was better than Percy did not speak about his Roman lineage, both say that Percy is a fugitive demigod, and had seen the danger had formed in his city and he had come to help.
They both fought shoulder to shoulder, as if they had grown up a lifetime together. Both protected their backs and threw themselves for the attacks that went to the other.
In the battle of the bridge, when Rachel came to speak about the prophecy, Annabeth stood in front of Percy, blocking a lunge that went for the boy, falling seriously injured. Annabeth did not remember much of what happened next, she only noticed painful palpitations in her body, how little by little her body became cold, but at the same time the wound was burning. There was a moment when he opened his eyes and looked Percy in the eye.
“You are cute when you worry, with your sulky eyebrows. "
Thanks to the great work of the Apollo children, Annabeth was at 75 percent of her abilities, and ready to fight Kronos. The three friends, Percy, Annabeth and Grover went to Olympus to finally fight Cronos.
The memory of Eric still hurt Annabeth, she remembered how she had given her life to betray Cronos, despite the fact that his betrayal was useless, since Luke's body was bathed in the Styx river. Eric's words echoed in their ears, asking for their help so that the next generations of demigods were recognized by their parents. After Eric's death, Percy had given the knife to Luke, having full faith in Annabeth and that her persuasion would bring Luke to light. The knife entering the demigod's body caused Kronos's body to turn to nothing but dust, leaving Luke's dead body.
Annabeth had fallen to her feet, clutching Luke in her arms, Percy and Grover on either side of her. Annabeth knew that Percy couldn't stay in this place for long. Rising up with a force she didn't know where she had gotten it from, she had escorted Percy to the elevator, leaving Grover by Luke's side and helping Thalia somewhere on Olympus.
"I have to go back to Camp Jupiter," Percy whispered, they were both about the same height, their eyes being on the same level. Percy's eyes were red, and pockets of water accumulated in them. Annabeth's eyes were surely worse.
"Before the gods return," Annabeth whispered as well.
"We will see each other again" the phrase sounded more like a question, green eyes searching for something between grey eyes.
Annabeth didn't answer him but kissed him at the elevator doors. It was a soft and loving kiss. Annabeth didn't know when she was going to see him again ... or if she was going to see him again. Before the boy could say anything, she pushed him into the elevator.
"Chase, we'll meet again." This time it didn't sound like a question, but rather a statement. The sea green eyes held great determination.
And the doors were closed.
And it took two years for me to see him again.
---
The Romans around her gasped as Annabeth knocked Neptune's son down with a punch to the jaw. Annabeth didn't let him get up, getting on top of him putting an arm around his throat, hinting that she would strangle him without a doubt.
Percy, instead of revealing himself, laughed under her. His green eyes sparkled with new light, tearing at the wide, white-toothed smile he now wore. Some of his freckles that came out from the sun were hidden among his wrinkles. From above Annabeth could see the resemblance he had to Poseidon, both with black hair and brown skin, and both with the same wrinkles next to their eyes that appeared when they smiled.
"You're cute when you worry." Percy held up a finger, putting it in the same place Annabeth had put it two years ago, between her eyebrows. "With your brows furrowed."
Annabeth whimpered and lunged toward the boy, hugging his shoulders and neck. Annabeth could hear the boy giggling as he hugged her back. Raising her head, through the tears she only recognized those green eyes that had haunted her for years and without thinking twice she kissed him.

to me jason being the most powerful demigod is like saying shuri is the smartest person in the mcu, like sure its possible but can you show me narratively that thats the case. they can say shes the smartest but i just can't agree because we haven't really seen her in action that much.
“An exchange. The only way to bring peace. The enemy counts on our divisions, and if we are divided, we will be destroyed. You are my peace offering, Jason—a bridge to overcome millennia of hatred.” - hera, the lost hero
“Oh, a great admirer of yours. Apparently, you made quite an impression on her. She will take care of you soon enough, and really I cannot complain. Spilling your blood at the Wolf House should mark my new territory quite well. Lupa will think twice about challenging my pack.” - lycaon, the lost hero
“The mighty Jason Grace. Yes, we know about you, son of Jupiter. The one who led the assault on Mount Othrys. The one who single-handedly slew the Titan Krios and toppled the black throne.” - enceladus, the lost hero
“Once you made it past Omaha, I decided to asked Lycaon to track you down so Jason could die here, at the Wolf House. You see, Jason, your blood spilled on this sacred ground will taint it for generations.” - khione, the lost hero
“An appetizer! Who are you—Hermes? Ares?” - porphyrion literally confusing jason for a GOD, the lost hero
“I’m the son of Jupiter! I’m a child of Rome, consul to demigods, praetor of the First Legion. I slew the Trojan sea monster, I toppled the black throne of Kronos, and destroyed the Titan Krios with my own hands. And now I’m going to destroy you, Porphyrion, and feed you to your own wolves.” - jason (i’m sorry I HAD TO THIS QUOTE IS NOT A BRAG IT’S LITERALLY JUST HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS), the lost hero
“That is part of your destiny, Jason. You must find your own way back. But when you do … you will unite two great powers. You will give us hope against the giants, and more importantly—against Gaea herself.” - hera, the lost hero
“And why I am glad Zeus have you to me. You will be my champion, Jason. You will be the greatest of heroes, and bring unity to the demigods, and thus to Olympus.” - hera, the lost hero
“Jason… Percy couldn’t go very far in this camp without hearing that name.” - percy, the son of neptune
“The legion destroyed the enemy’s palace and about a million monsters. Jason had to battle Krios—hand-to-hand combat with a Titan, if you can imagine.” - hazel, the son of neptune
“Your fight with Kronos? Well done. Gaea hates you above all others… except perhaps for that upstart Jason Grace” - alyconeus, the son of neptune
“Ever since she’d arrived at Camp Jupiter, she’d heard stories about him. The campers spoke with reverence about the son of Jupiter who’d risen from the lowly ranks of the Fifth Cohort to become praetor, led them to victory in the Battle of Mount Tam, then disappeared. Even now, after all the events of the past couple of weeks, Jason seemed more like a legend than a person.” - hazel, the house of hades
“But Hazel couldn’t forget that Jason had been Hera’s first move in the war against the giants. The Queen of Olympus had dropped Jason into Camp Half-Blood, which had started this entire chain of events to stop Gaia. Why Jason first? Something told Hazel he was the linchpin. Jason would be the final play, too.” - hazel, the house of hades
“You are a son of Jupiter, yet you have chosen your own path – as all the greatest demigods have done before you.” - notus, the house of hades
“She thought of something Hazel had confided to her a few nights ago: I think Jason is the linchpin to Hera’s whole scheme. He was her first play; he’s going to be her last.” - piper, the blood of olympus
obviously there are more quotes BUT i’m not about to reread every single book and highlight all the quotes that emphasize jason’s importance/power……. i will someday but these are just the quotes i found online. again, due to character neglect, we’re never going to have the same literary support that percy does because jason is simply not favored as much as him.

eyyyyy I don’t know what to say other than I really, really love ramen and is about to go cook some right now
Title: Kronos, Fear
Summary: Kronos has always been an opportunist. He sees the seething hatred Luke has for his father and he can see the same seeds in the youngest. It’s something he can use. Something he can manipulate. The Gods aren’t so willing to strike down their own children and they’re complete fools for that. Complete utter fools.
He might as well add another and rub salt in the wound.

Kronos — Fear
Travis 13 - Connor 12
September
Post-the lightning thief
Kronos has always been an opportunist. He sees the seething hatred for his father in Luke. And now he sees the same in the young brother. It’s something he can use. Something he can manipulate. The Gods aren’t so willing to strike down their own children and they’re complete fools for that. They place too much value on their children. Mortal children nonetheless with their laughable span of life.
He took action as soon as he realized his children will be his demise, eating his children as they were born. Their lack of action is going to be their downfall.
It is their downfall as he stares down at Hermes’s preferred son.
One son hates him to the bitter bone.
Let’s rub salt in the wound and add another.
 Connor doesn’t get many dreams.
Doesn’t even know the prophetic dreams Percy gets can happen to him too. He always thought he stuck low enough on the important-demigod radar to avoid those types of stuff.
He guesses not, because he’s standing in a wide, endless field. The dead grass sways back and forth in the nonexistent wind, their prickly ends brushing against his waist. On the horizon, the sun is setting and making the sky a bright purple color. A sight worth a thousand pictures.
It should be beautiful. It should be breathtaking, but all Connor feels is a sense of dread.
“Travis?” he calls out, hesitantly. He doesn’t like the way his voice carries across the plains. “Are you here?” Because that makes sense. Even when he’s dreaming, Travis is always here with him. In every happy dream, every nightmare, Travis is there. But he didn’t hear his brother’s voice like he wanted, but another man’s.
From behind.
Connor twirls around, hand going for the knife he always keeps hidden on his waist. It isn’t there and he’s furious it isn’t there, because standing before him is Luke Castellan with his hands tucked in his hoodie’s pockets in an infuriating casual pose.
Anger bubbles in him and Connor hisses, “You got a lot of nerve, Luke, showing your face to us after what you did to Percy.”
Luke sneers. His gold eyes — gold? — twinkle with malice and when he speaks, it’s not Luke’s voice but another. Someone much, much older.
“Spirited. I like that in a pawn.”
“L...Luke?” Connor hates how small his voice sounds. He hates how he’s failing at pushing the ugly head of fear down. “Who are you?”
“You know who I am.”
Luke, no, Kro — the titan smiles, Luke’s scar twisting  in a very, very scary way. Kronos takes a step towards him and okay. Connor has enough. It’s time to wake up.
He wants to wake up. Please wake up, body.
“Listen closely and follow my orders.”
He pinches himself, but the Titan is still in front of him.
“I need another person on the inside. Someone who can sabotage the son of the Sea God’s plans.”
He covers his ears and squeezes his eyes shut, yelling as loud as he can but he can still hear the Titan talk.
“Stop him from going on quests. Do whatever you need to do.”
Why isn’t he waking up? He wants to wake up. Wake up. Wake up. Wake up, please.
“Or you’ll face consequences, Connor Stoll.”
And it’s like every nightmare he ever had.
There’s a chain around his ankle binding him to the ground. Travis is beside him, tugging on the chains and saying it will be okay. Everything will be fine. Don’t worry. Don’t cry. I’ll help you. I won’t leave you. Just leave it to me.
But Luke is holding a gun. Then he’s raising the gun.
And Connor screams.
Tries to scream.
Nothing comes out.
He’s frozen. He’s too weak. He can’t help. He can’t do anything.
Luke aims the gun at the back of Travis’s head. And like in every nightmare, Travis doesn’t notice the danger he’s in. He’s too occupied to notice the danger he’s in. He’s too focused on him to notice the danger at all.
Connor tries one more time. To say something. But nothing comes out and he watches Luke presses the trigger and blows a hole straight through his brother’s skull.
The child wakes up screaming in the empty cabin, the screams jolting the elder awake from his slumber. In mere seconds, the elder leaps down from his higher bed and is beside the younger with their celestial tinted Army Swiss knife in hand.
“Connor?! Connor, what’s wrong?!”
The younger burrows himself in his brother’s arms, crying and blubbering as he recounts the dream. But at the end of the tale the elder only pats the younger’s head and gives a disgustingly warm smile.
“Connor, it’s just a dream just like the others.”
“This is different! I can feel it. Kro—He really spoke to me.”
“Oh. That’s scary. Hm. Do you think if we put a circle of salt around the bed, it’ll stop him?”
“This is serious!”
“I am being serious.”
“Travis, I-I don’t want you to die.”
“I’m not going to die. If he really wants to get you, I wouldn’t even be here right now. I should be locked in some cave somewhere, right? Like a hostage?”
“I-I guess…let’s go break in the camp store and get some salt.”
The fear he places is melting away and he curses. He tries again when the younger goes back to sleep and makes the death more gruesome, more vivid. Run over by a tank. Electrocuted in a torture chamber. Eaten alive by cyclops. Beheaded by friends.
But it all ends the same.
The younger wakes up, the elder offers some words, and then the fear dissolves.
Night after night. Failure after failure.
If to get one he needs both then so be it.
Travis loves prairies. It’s where he finds his favorite animal, the meerkat! … did they live in prairies or was he thinking of Australia? Wait, he also loves ferrets and ferrets can be found in prairies too right? Or do they live in the woods? Note to self, ask Annabeth and Connor about this. Also prairies are super duper relaxing! It makes him want to build a cabin with a deck for stargazing.
“Travis Stoll.”
That’s the true life. Just kick back and enjoy the nice weather.
“Travis Stoll.”
Hmm, then again, Connor likes the city more. He probably won’t be very happy living in a rural area. And Travis has to admit cities have their advantages when it comes to food options. Oh wait, don’t prairies have a lot of grasshoppers and locusts? Connor would really hate living here.
“Travis Stoll!”
He guesses a holographic projection would have to do.
“For father’s sake, turn around!”
Travis jumps in surprise because he is 70% sure that was Luke’s voice and isn’t Luke evil now? Why is Luke talking to him? Did he mistake him for Connor again? Isn’t this the dream realm? Are their dream spirits similar too then that Luke got confused? No, no, no wait. Luke said his name. Luke knows he isn’t speaking with Connor.
“Turn around!”
Is it his turn for the nightmares? Is Luke going to try and convince him? If he leads Luke on, will he leave Connor alone? Wait a second… how does he know this is the real deal and not just something his imagination cook up for an entertaining night?
“Hey!”
A hand touches his back and Travis makes up his mind then, slamming his hands over his ears, closing his eyes, and singing as loud as he can.
“ALALALALA, I CAN’T HEAR YOU! I CAN’T HEAR YOU!”
And he really can’t.

The Harpies & Aristaeus
After the stable scene, Coach Hedge subjects the seven to an unexpected lesson that is somehow more awkward than it sounds.

                                                                                                           Read on Ao3
If you were ever curious how to piss off an over-enthusiastic, bat-wielding satyr, I could provide you with a proper step-by-step. It really isn’t that hard for someone of my expertise, because evidently, I am incredibly gifted in the art of frustrating people. Annabeth will vouch for this since she’s made a point of letting me know for the past 6 years. Any of my foes of past and present could probably give a similar reference, but with more bias to their reasoning.
Anyway, back to satyrs that are taking their chaperoning job way too seriously:
Step 1: Sneak out after curfew at the beck and call of your beautiful/amazing girlfriend.
        Step 2: Fall asleep.
Step 3: Get caught sleeping beside your beautiful/amazing girlfriend.
So now, thanks to the biggest misunderstanding in modern history (I’m sure Annabeth would normally have a tragic Greek tale about a grander example of miscommunication, but I doubt she’d dispute me now), we’re grounded. I haven’t been grounded in forever. To be fair, I’d been missing for a while and just before that I was kind of thrust into almost dying in the second Titan War, but I’m a good kid regardless.
I don’t regret spending the time with Annabeth, because it’d been forever since we’ve had a moment alone. My heart pattered when I thought about how she didn’t scare when I mentioned the idea of New Rome. It upgraded to full-scale pounding when I pictured the way she’d kissed me shortly after and how it still made me feel like I was floating.
Frank found and alerted the media, because apparently everyone was pretty worked up over the idea of losing us. I mean, I do have a record of going missing and losing my memory now so I can’t say I blame them for the concern. Their tunes completely changed when they saw us sprawled across the clear door cuddling. Frank seemed pretty embarrassed, which probably would have been closer to my response too if I walked in on Hazel and him like that. Piper smiled like a Cheshire cat for reasons beyond me. Whatever it was, it made Annabeth super uncomfortable whenever she looked at her pointedly. Jason seemed pretty indifferent, if not relieved he wasn’t in my shoes. Leo was relentless as if a day ago I hadn’t almost attacked him when I thought he set the canons off on Camp Jupiter.
Coach Hedge was as scary as I’d feared, but I wouldn’t say that to Annabeth. I don’t think I needed to, because she rolled her eyes when she looked over at me while we were chastised. There wasn’t much heat in it though, which told me that maybe she didn’t regret getting caught either. You could tell she’d been through a lot, too much, in these past 6 months. She barely even hesitated as he laid into us with threats of contacting our parents. While I half-expected Athena to storm our ship, scoop me up, hang me, and turn me into a flag, I was more afraid of the idea of Coach Hedge calling my mom. My mom has made it really clear that she does not want any grandbabies yet.
I thought we were safe from humiliating punishment until that night, Coach called for a group meeting. Leo said we’d never actually done that before on Argo II, so I knew something was up. It had just been an incredibly long day of near-death experiences so the fact that Annabeth and I dozed off was so far from my brain. As she laced her hands through mine while we walked from the lower cabin to the upper deck, it seemed to be far from her mind too.
It should have tipped me off that everyone was sitting towards Coach like he was performing a one-man show. Gods, I would imagine his singing voice would be on par with Chuck Norris and Dog the Bounty Hunter, just like the rest of his personality.
He set down a whiteboard on an easel and I could tell Annabeth was immediately cued in. My girlfriend is such a Brainiac and while ADHD like the rest of the demigods, her attentions were always easily grasped through organized visual aid, especially when it was educational. She looked cute when she was learning. She looked cute all of the time, because duh, it’s Annabeth, but her eyes get super focused and she leans forward a bit, occasionally nibbling on her lip.
I, on the other hand, am not taken with graphs or statistics the way I am with her. Whenever she feels the need to recite whatever he said, I’ll listen much more carefully from her. She must have felt my gaze, because I’m being far from discrete. Being away from her for all of that time, even if it was really only a few weeks for me, made me want to capture every detail of her and force myself to save it in safe keeping.
I thought she was going to smack me for zoning out so badly, but her face goes a little dumbfounded at whatever Coach is preaching and then her gray eyes flash to me in… Horror? Oh Gods, what did I miss?
She gently reaches out and turns my head to face the very red and very sweaty Coach Hedge, who looks the opposite of happy at me (or someone directly behind me). It takes me up until that moment to see everyone else is looking at me too, except they seem mad too, which is weird.
“Jackson!” He hollered and that brings me back to reality at a crashing rate.
It’s probably useless to say I was listening and play along.
“I was listening.” Stupid.
His nostrils flared. “Tell me what I just said.”
I had one of those typical Percy Jackson moments. You know, the ones that make everyone around me gasp at my superior intellect and amazing capability of remaining hyper aware at all costs.
“Uh… Duh…?”
“Smooth.” Annabeth muttered.
“That’s what I thought.” He barked. “If you don’t get your head out of your bungle hole right now, I’m going to tie you to your mattress, so you can’t have another infraction like last night’s ever again.”
“Why don’t you leave that to Annabeth?” Leo snickered cheekily.
I felt my face turning hot while Annabeth gave Leo one of her trademark glares that sent him sliding into his seat to avoid her gaze. Coach didn’t seem impressed by the comment either, because he hovered over Leo and resembled an exploding bottle of ketchup.
“I would hold my tongue if I were you, Valdez. This talk is for all of you little horn-balls. I should expect this from the child of Aphrodite-”
“-Hey!” Piper said indignantly.
He powered on. “But since Annabeth Chase has been dirtied up, it can likely happen to any of you. So, that’s why we need to take a moment from all of this world-ending business and move onto a different kind of life-or-death.”
The glare he sent me when he said “dirtied up” made me want to sleep with my eyes open tonight. Or you know, forever.
“I have not been dirtied up!” Annabeth snapped. I admired her bravery, but we’d already gone in circles about how nothing even happened, and no one believed us. At this point, Coach Hedge was going to trust a son of Hermes not-guilty plea of pick-pocketing over us.
“Oh really, I know your mother wouldn’t be pleased about your recent deeds.”
“We didn’t-”
“-Save it!”
I could feel myself sweating and could practically hear my own heartbeat in my ears. The implication behind all of this was uncomfortable at best, even if we had been innocent. It was no secret that Annabeth was born from Athena, who was one of the Maiden Goddesses. In other words, she never biologically produced kids. While Aphrodite was definitely sex-positive when it came to her children, Athena was… Not. She saw more important values than love like battle strategies or instilling constant fear into her daughter’s boyfriend.
“Anyway, it’s time that I have a little talk with you kids. Nobody else seems to have so it’s up to me.”
Everyone around me got super pale and started stammering in disagreement. Me? I was just confused and trying to hide it. I mean, I can’t say I enjoy long conversations with Coach Hedge, but this had to be better than having to sleep outside in the rain or sharing a room with him, right?
“Why should we have to sit through this?” Frank stumbled over his words and wouldn’t look at Hazel.
“Because I am becoming very aware that you folks seem to think this is a romantic couple’s cruise and I will be having none of it.”
“I am not part of a couple.” Leo pointed out.
“Yeah, but don’t think I haven’t noticed the goo-goo eyes you’ve been making at Miss Levesque here.”
Gods, it looked like Frank was wishing his eyes were snipers by the way he was glaring at Leo. Leo seemed very aware of this and once again sunk down in his seat in an ill attempt to become less of a target. His rescue came in the form of Hazel placing a hand on Frank’s bicep. He looked down at her and calmed down almost immediately. I’m usually the last guy to notice this kind of thing, but maybe being in love has sort of made me more attune to other people in love.
“This ship will not become the playboy mansion!” Coach emphasized this point by referring to a poster with the word “sex” scratched over with red slashes. “So, in order to stop this, I’m going to give you the talk my old man gave me: The Harpies and Aristaeus.”
“So, looking at ugly harpies made you swear off sex?”
Everyone groaned. I bet some of them were wishing they’d never picked me up in the first place, because I was still lost. Coach Hedge looked like he was about 3 seconds from chucking his clipboard at me.
Annabeth smacked my shoulder and was glaring at me with that “can you be more stupid” look in her stormy eyes. A deep blush clung to her cheeks and the back of her neck and if she didn’t already look mad enough to throw me overboard, I might have commented on how cute it was.
Still, she clarified. “Aristaeus is a minor God that is a protector of many arts, Percy. A big one is bee-keeping."
"How is bee-keeping an art?"
Thunder rolled in the distance.
"Sorry." I murmured and tried to put the pieces together.
The bee keeper? That still sounded lame. And what did that have to do with harpies?
The harpies and the bee keeper.
The ugly bird people and the bees.
The birds and the- oh crap.
Needless to say, I felt dread. Like, titan-fighting dread. I couldn’t bring myself to look anywhere near Annabeth’s direction as it dawned on me. My sense of panic must have translated to the outside, because Coach seemed much smugger than he had been earlier. My tongue seemed to swell in my mouth and my face definitely invented its own shade of magenta for the occasion.  Everyone else looked pretty stiff too, but it was hard to believe anyone could be more awkward than me about this kind of thing.
“I had that talk with my mom… A while ago.” I tried, and it was true. It was painful then, but something told me hearing it from a big and loud half-goat with my girlfriend right beside me was going to be infinitely worse.
“Well, if you’re such an expert, you’re going to point out and name every part of the female reproduction system.”
Right then, I wished that maybe, just maybe, Gaia would rise early so I wouldn’t have to live through this. Wow, super selfish and absorbed, I know, but you have to understand that this is basically akin to slow and brutal torture. And I have been tortured before.
Gaia is spiteful and probably saw this as a lovely little way to prolong suffering.
The diagrams were awful and graphic. Coach wasn’t exactly a stand-up comedian, so he wasn’t joking about me having to point out and name every part of the female anatomy. I was wrong about almost all of it, but I couldn’t give the legitimate terms for the parts of the male anatomy either, I swear.
“Is this thing upside down?” I asked at one point.
“Poor Annabeth.” Murmured Piper to Jason, who looked just as dumbstruck and confused as me. Annabeth had her head in her hands out of pure mortification and I was wondering if the entire purpose of this exercise was to embarrass me so much that my girlfriend would never want to so much as touch me ever again, let alone do anything resembling sex.
“Poor Annabeth, indeed.” Coach Hedge agreed after shouting at me for getting the term “clitoris” wrong for the third (or was it fourth?) time.
“Why does Annabeth even need to know this? Doesn’t she just have brain babies like Athena? I mean… Can she have kids the normal way?” Leo asked.
She scowled. “I can’t have brain children and even if I could, it would require an impossibly strong connection of intelligence.”
Everyone simultaneously turned back to me and Jason clicked his tongue. “Yeah, I guess that’s out of the question.”
“Hey!” I protested.
Consent was talked about, which shouldn’t have surprised me considering how many gross people live in the world. I guess I was just surprised that any sane person would be able to sleep at night knowing they’d just totally broken someone’s trust in mankind in such a violating way.
“NO MEANS NO!” He yelled over and over again. “MAYBE MEANS NO! MAYBE NOT MEANS NO! YES IS YES AND THAT IS ALL THERE IS TO IT.”
But it wasn’t, because he started grilling us on situations where consent was properly given. I passed this was flying colors, because honestly, I’m the kind of person that usually needs intense verification to do much of anything. You saw how long it took for me to admit I liked Annabeth. I know I am not always good with subtleties.
I glanced over at her, who also didn’t seem the least bit worried about this part. I gently took her hand and hoped that it reminded her that I would never hurt her.
Coach went on to explain protection, which seemed like it would be the most mild portion of this TED talk, but when he handed all of us bananas and condoms, I knew it was going to be bad.
“This seems excessive.” Hazel laughed nervously, which made sense since she’s not exactly from a time where even talking about this stuff is the norm. I can’t say I was too comfortable either. Plus, I was pretty perturbed about the fact that while everyone else had a full-sized banana, Annabeth had been given half of a carrot.
“I ran out of bananas.” Coach tried to justify but wasn’t fooling anyone.
“Sure.” I grumbled.
“If you don’t know how to put on a condom, you will die.”
Piper smirked. “Nice Mean Girls reference.”
We spent the next half hour explaining Mean Girls to him while simultaneously trying to take this fun little meeting off the rails. It worked a little bit and Coach even seemed to enjoy some of the smart remarks made in the movie, but he’d apparently drank a lot of persistence juice before calling us together so he was not being shaken from his original purpose.
It turned into a contest at who could put it on the quickest and the most secure. Annabeth was the first to accomplish this feat, but again, she had the smallest and most slender object to work with. I didn’t do as badly as Leo or Frank, who kept dropping the banana.
“It’s not really staying on.” Annabeth murmured and wouldn’t look at me.
Leo snickered. “Poor Annabeth again.”
This time, she thumped him upside the head and I would be remiss to say I didn’t support the reaction.
“Valdez, I’d hold your judgment since you can’t even seem to finish.”
I laughed this time.
Coach realized we were all having a little too much fun with this exercise and went on to explain the intricacy of orgasms, both male and female. I felt my stomach lurching again, especially as he was clearly trying to dispel any positive thoughts from the girls’ minds by harping over the fact that guys our age do not last long in bed. I was trying to find other stuff to focus on, like the impending mortal threats that were coming our way, but he kept reeling me back in by using me as an example.
“Take Jackson, here--”
“Please don’t.”
This didn’t stop him. “Someone of his anxiousness and stupidity would have no idea how to pleasure a woman. He’s better suited at maneuvering the Labyrinth than the vagina. He proved that earlier.”
“Thanks for that.”
“I can promise you, that the 15 seconds will not be worth it. And that applies to all of you boys.”
Needless to say, it got a lot worse before it got better. Frank was asked what the best way to prevent teenage pregnancy was, was given the hint that it started with an “A”, and then panicked and said “anal” instead of abstinence. Hazel took a solid 4 steps away from him then and I thought the big guy was going to throw up. Jason, Hazel, and I were then given a nice chat about how if we had children, they would be so powerful that there would be a quorum about whether or not they should even live. Leo asked if it was possible that he would accidentally light a girl on fire mid intercourse. The answer was yes. Annabeth was the only one born of a virgin Goddess present, so of course the majority of her segment focused on “purity” and “clear-thinking” and also the mention of her mother’s intense disapproval.
She’d told me about how her mom already claimed she failed her and I could see her flinch at the idea of failing her further, but then unexpectedly, her gaze turned to a hard steel.
“Hold on a second,” She said angrily, and I knew that look. I’ve been on the other side of that look many a time. She gave me that look a lot in our time of knowing each other, especially when I was being dumb about whether or not she liked me/whether or not I should admit I liked her.
“What is it, Chase?” He asked gruffly.
“This is ridiculous.” She snapped. “How is virginity, which isn’t even a physical or tangible thing, something that could possibly increase or decrease my value as a human being?”
“Well…” He started, but she didn’t let him continue.
“If Percy and I have sex, does that make him a terrible person and me dirty? Because that’s how you made it sound earlier.”
Hearing it point blank like that almost made me swallow my tongue and frankly, made my heart race a bit more than I’d ever admit.
“Not on my-” He was going to say “watch”, but she pushed onward with confidence akin to when she’s marching into battle.
“We talked about consent earlier, so clearly you understand the concept of it being my body and my choice at what I want to do with it. So tell me, how is sex more deplorable than going on life-threatening quests that could potentially rip me limb from limb? How is that encouraged, but something that is so biologically basic and innate is considered irredeemable? Do I suddenly become less if I decide I want to feel human every once in a while?”
“You don’t want to get-”
“-Pregnant, I know, and you’re right. I don’t right now, but I’m not exactly an idiot. There are ways of preventing that as we talked about earlier. That is all this should be about, though. Preventing pregnancy, preventing STI’s/STDs, consent, understanding the body, etc. Not guilt about a very natural and human experience. Given the lives we’ve lived, I’d say we deserve it.”
My mouth hung open like the hinges of my jaw had broken and I was left with an open cavern for a mouth for the rest of my life. I tried to shy away from Coach’s shocked stare as if to say, “don’t look at me, I didn’t tell her to say that”, but I couldn’t. I agreed with Annabeth, of course, because she should be the one to get to decide what she does. She’s proven herself capable of that more than a billion times.
I met her gaze while she sat back down and she closed my mouth for me, the smallest remnants of a smile lingering on her lips. Her stare was… hard to read, but I couldn’t seem to stop looking at her. Everyone else seemed to follow my lead, with Jason whistling slightly in approval of her tangent, Piper looking like she wanted to fist-bump her, Hazel smiled cautiously, Frank seemed relieved she shut Hedge up, and Leo looked a little scared and a little aroused.
Hedge cleared his throat as he muttered the words “meeting adjourned” roughly under his breath. Everyone made their move to get away from each other as quickly as possible. We could all probably use a moment to ourselves after that utter humiliation. In the end, Hedge ended up getting the short end of the carrot, so that was semi satisfying.
Annabeth and I walked to our respective quarters in silence and my mind raced on whether or not there was a good thing to say right now. What was appropriate for this moment?
"Thanks for stopping him before he got to sex toys."
"I literally cannot stop sweating right now."
"FYI: mine isn't the size or color of a small carrot."
Thankfully, she spoke. However, when she did, I couldn’t have seen it coming if it was right in front of my face.
“Do you ever think of me like that?” It was so rushed and abrupt that I’m not totally sure she even meant to say it.
I swallowed hard, but I knew if I didn’t answer quickly enough she was either going to get offended or annoyed and I didn’t want either right now after she’d basically saved us all from having to sign anti-pregnancy pacts.
“Sometimes.” I tried to make it sound casual, like I wasn’t a horny, sex-obsessed teenage boy that spent all of him time ogling his girlfriend. I definitely ogled at her, but not like she was an object or anything. She’s just insanely beautiful. Truthfully, I always felt lucky she’d have me in any capacity and didn’t really register that she might want me in that way. Also, I’m usually busy thinking about simple things like food or whether or not I’m going to die painfully in battle. But the thought occurred to me on occasion. Like when we go swimming and she’s climbing out of the water in a bikini or when she sits on my lap and wriggles around a little too much.
The time we made out in the strawberry fields and she placed my hand under her shirt made all the blood leave my brain just thinking about it.
“You?” I asked.
“Sometimes.” She affirmed and looked away and it was obvious in the dim lighting of the hallway that she was blushing again. I couldn’t help but wonder when in Hades she saw me like that, because I’m not exactly smooth. That didn’t mean I wasn’t grateful she did.
“So…” I rocked back and forth on my heels. “You… Want to? Someday? Not today. Obviously not today, but at some point in our lives you want to-”
Thanks, the Gods almighty, because she cut me off from that embarrassing tangent with a kiss. I felt myself relax against her immediately, because she wasn’t totally repulsed by me after both my inability to correctly label the female anatomy or my stupid tendency to make things more awkward somehow. Her fingers threaded in my hair and she tugged a little bit out of satisfaction. My hands found their usual residence on her waist. Her tongue slipped into my mouth and she smiled against my mouth when I inadvertently moaned in response. We stayed like that for a while, her tangling her fingers in my hair while pressing me against the door of my cabin, my hands playing with the loops of her jean shorts, everything seeming impossibly right with the world.
She pulled back and looked at me through sparkling eyes that danced with a knowingness that I will probably never fully understand or stop appreciating. She gently tapped her fingers along the back of my neck in a light drumming movement. She leaned up and kissed me again, this time chaste, which was probably for the best since Coach Hedge would likely be doing some kind of inspection soon.
“We’ll get there.” She smiled, and I wondered if she could feel my heart doing jumping jacks in my chest cavity. “Soon.”
Soon.
She opened the door to her cabin and winked at me before leaving me to the influx of thoughts that decided to attack my brain all at once, leaving me standing there like a big dumb idiot. I wouldn't even have been surprised if I ended up standing here all night out of shock and... Anticipation? She was always going to be miles ahead of me, but I was more than okay with that.

Guiding Through the Cruel Sea
This is the first in a series of Dark!Percy stories I am writing.
Percy Jackson was swinging his sword, sparring with another half-blood. He and his opponent were surrounded by other half-bloods who were watching in awe. But behind them were a variety of monsters, roaring and cheering to the fight. The two dueled around the Prominade of the Princess Andromeda, which was acting as the mobile base for the rising Titan army.
After Percy joined Luke, he was told the huge cruise ship was enchanted to remain hidden from the gods’ sight. After a few weeks on board, practicing his abilities (which he had plenty of practice, being surrounded by water) he eventually learned how to use the ocean to maneuver the ship, making for smooth sailing. As long as he didn’t try to manipulate water too far from the ship, he could avoid conflicting with his father, Poseidon’s, domain.
Usually Percy would’ve ended this fight, but he had a lot on his mind. Specifically, the reoccurring dreams of an old friend who was in trouble. The problem was, he now knew they weren’t dreams, and he needed to do something. He just didn’t know how, yet. He had to find a way to convince Luke to allow him to leave and help his missing friend.
Finally, Percy had found and opening in his opponent’s technique, and attacked. Percy disarmed his opponent, pushed him to the ground, and held him at sword point. Monsters continued to cheer, with some shouting for him to kill the demigod.
He lowered his sword, “You’re getting better, but I your technique is still too predictable. Once I knew your moves, I could see your next attack a mile away.”
He offered his hand to the defeated opponent, and helped him to his feet. “Alright,” Percy said, looking to a line of other demigods, “who’s up-”
“Percy!” he heard someone shout. He turned to see the unclaimed demigod, Chris Rodriguez, running to him, “Luke needs to see you. He’s in his cabin.”
Percy frowned, not liking the idea of going to Luke’s room, which had another occupant that Percy did not want to be near.
“Thanks”
Percy ordered the recruits to spar amongst themselves. Before leaving, he also gave monsters a threatening glare, causing some to flinch. It was a look that said, ‘Touch those kids, and you’re dead.’
Percy made his way up to the cabin, passing various monsters and Mist-blinded mortals. He felt a sudden chill, which got colder as he walked closer to the room. He had to catch his breath when he was just outside the door before opening it.
He was greeted to Luke and his two monster guards, Agrius and Oreius, standing and watching two new passengers, who were seated with their backs to the door, facing Luke.
“Please come in. I have a surprise for you,” Luke welcomed in a friendly tone. Percy walked in and reluctantly closed the door behind him. Once he was beside Luke, he got a better look at the two people in the chairs. One was a huge guy, with messy brown hair. Percy also saw that the boy had a single eye: a Cyclops. And judging from identity of his companion, it was probably the same Cyclops Luke mentioned that had arrived at Camp Half-Blood days ago. That person next to the creature had blond hair, and grey eyes, which were now burning through Percy as she glared.
“Annabeth,” Percy breathed out. She said nothing, holding her angered expression.
“It seems we had some stowaways,” Luke said, “I thought you might want to see an old friend.”
There was so much going through Percy’s mind right now. He imagined seeing some of his former friends again, but now with Annabeth right there, he was at a loss of words. Months of being surrounded by monsters had made him long for his old friends. Once Luke felt Percy was committed to the fight, and more demigods arrived on the ship, the feeling of loss became easier to bear. But still, Luke was becoming too close to Kronos, and the demigods were recruits who he helped train, but none felt brave to approach him as a friend.
And now Annabeth was here. He wanted to tell her he’d protect her. That she was safe, despite the monsters crawling around the ship. Still he could not look soft in front of Luke, or the monster in the big glowing box.
“How’d they get on board?” he asked. He tried to sound tough, but it was eclipsed by a slightly joyous tone.
“Apparently our security isn’t as strong as we thought. But that will change soon,” Luke motioned to the glowing sarcophagus. Percy shivered, and looked at the prisoners, still needing to play his role in the interrogation.
“Well,” Percy said to the two prisoners, “what are you doing here?”
Annabeth kept her composure and her mouth closed, as she stared at him in defiance. He stared back, almost like he was searching for secrets in her gaze.
“Dad wanted me to find you,” the Cyclops spoke.
“Tyson,” Annabeth turned her head to the Cyclops, looking shocked and annoyed at him.
Percy turned to the Cyclops, Tyson. The creature looked very nervous, and when he looked at Percy, the demigod could swear Tyson was silently pleading to him. Percy really felt some pity for the poor thing. It almost looked innocent.
“Well, Tyson, not sure who your dad is, but you can tell him-”
“It’s Poseidon, Seaweed Brain” Annabeth said, causing Percy to flinch hearing the name, “Some Cyclopes, like Tyson, are his kids.”
Percy could hear some snickers from the monsters. He looked closely at Tyson, examining further, searching for some resemblance to his apparent half-brother.
“Dad misses you,” Tyson said in that same innocent tone.
“I can’t believe you, of all people, Annabeth, would team up with a Cyclops,” Luke said, “How can you insult Thalia’s memory?”
“How could you poison her tree?” Annabeth said harshly to him, “You’re killing her again, and I’m the one insulting her memory?”
“I’m not insulting her. The gods insulted her long before I did anything,” Luke said, “She fought for them and this was her reward. If she were here right now, she’d be by my side with Percy.”
“Never!” Annabeth shouted.
“Wake up Annabeth,” Percy said, “You’re being used by Olympus like we were. It doesn’t have to be like this. Demigods are joining us every day, and we could use your brains.”
“Because you lack them,” she retorted. Percy had to fight back a smile from her retort.
“The Olympians are going to fall,” Percy continued, “Luke told me that they fear me. Because of some prophecy saying that by my sixteenth birthday, I’ll make a choice that will preserve or raze Olympus. But if you join us, you won’t have to go down with them.”
“Go to Tartarus,” she said.
“A shame,” Luke said.
Percy stood back as Luke instructed Oreius to take the prisoners to be fed to one of the monsters.
“Percy, go with him,” Luke commanded, “Make sure they don’t try anything.”
-
Percy had his sword prepped as he walked behind Tyson and Annabeth, whose hands were tied, while Oreius lead in front of the group.
As they were walking, Percy thought about the times he and Annabeth and Grover shared on their quest together last year. Percy suddenly had an idea. He looked into one of the bathrooms, and shifted his hand slyly, causing a creaking noise of the pipes.
“Stop,” Percy ordered, causing Oreius to stop. He pointed his sword at Tyson, inches from his face, “Who else is with you?”
Tyson looked at him with fear, as both him and Annabeth seemed confused. Another creaking noise was heard.
“Oreius, go and search the ship. Get others if you need them. If this is a quest, there should be a third member somewhere on board.”
“But the prisoners-”
“We’re in the middle of the ocean!” Percy yelled, “I can handle them. Just go!”
The monster looked disappointed, but walked back.
“Okay,” Percy said to his captives, “We don’t have long. You guys need to get out of here.”
They looked at him wide-eyed. “What are you planning,” Annabeth asked in suspicion.
“Helping you escape. Now let me see your hands,” he said, raising Riptide up.
Tyson immediately raised his hands, but Annabeth kept her hands down.
“Oh, this is, so, a trap” she exclaimed, “You want us to find the Golden Fleece for you.”
“That’s not it,” he said, “I need your help. Grover’s in trouble.”
This seemed to catch Annabeth’s attention.
“What do you mean he’s in trouble? How could you know?”
“Apparently him and I have some empathy connection. He’s been sending me distress calls for the last few weeks.”
“And you didn’t do anything about it?” Annabeth said.
“I told you, I’m important to them. Luke was not going to let me leave his side for a satyr. I need your help.”
“Why should I believe you?”
“What does it matter? He’s captured by some Cyclops called Po-ly-phe-mus,” he said, struggling to remember the name.
“Polyphemus?” Annabeth said, “He has the Golden Fleece. You want that, don’t you?”
“Luke wants it, but think, Wise Girl. Grover said the Fleece has strong nature magic, so if it’s true, wouldn’t Grover be drawn to it?” Percy explained.
She still looked at him skeptically.
“Look, all I know is Grover is able to hold off Polyphemus for now but if you don’t go soon, he’s dinner.”
Hesitantly, Annabeth showed her tied wrists, “Fine.”
Percy cut her and Tyson’s ropes.
“There’s a life boat at the end of the deck,” Percy said, pointing in the direction, “I can give you clear waters until you’re out of the ship’s view.”
“You’re not going to help us save Grover?” Annabeth asked.
“I told you that he’s in trouble and you know where to find him. I can’t leave. Now go.”
“Please let’s go,” Tyson begged to Annabeth while looking at Percy too.
She looked at Tyson and back at Percy. She armed herself with her blade and pack, and she and Tyson ran in the direction of the life boats. Percy looked over the side of the ship at the water until he heard the alarm go off. He turned to see one of the life boats speeding away from the ship.
-
A Day Later, Sea of Monsters
Annabeth struggled to stay awake on the lifeboat of the CSS Birmingham. Though the winds Hermes provided, had given her enough distance, she still tried to get as far as she could to get away from those monstrous sisters: Scylla and Charybdis. But the sun had not been very merciful, as she was trapped in the ocean, with no food or fresh water, with the sunlight baring down. She had no idea where she was, and she didn’t know which direction to swim towards, if she was heading to a refuge or another monster. Her eyes got heavier as her muscles got weaker.
Before sleep could consume her, she heard a loud horn, startling her awake, and her eyes shot open to see a fisherman’s boat moving across the horizon. She tried to stand and waved her hands, “Over here!”
She kept yelling and waving, though concerned she’d fall off the rocking lifeboat. For a second, she thought the boat would continue its course without her. But she saw as the boat turned to her direction. As it got closer, she saw that it wasn’t exactly well kept. It had rust, barnacles and it needed a paint job. She could barely make out the name of the boat, The Melicertes, written in blue letters on the side. The boat slowed, until it stopped right next to her lifeboat. Annabeth grabbed the latter and weakly climbed up onto the vessel. As she reached the deck, she laid on her back, at heard the motor start, and she drifted off.
When Annabeth woke, she found herself below deck, on a mattress in a messy living quarters. She did feel a little cooler, now out of the exposure of the sun.
“Are you awake?” a familiar voice said. Instinctively, she grabbed her dagger on her hip. She shot up, and pinned Percy to the wall with the dagger on his throat.
“I guess so,” he said.
“What are you doing here?” she demanded.
“Apparently helping you, again. Unless you want me to put you back where I found you.”
Annabeth’s pulled the dagger away from Percy’s throat, though she kept it close. “Where’s Luke?”
“Probably still on the Andromeda. It’s just me.”
“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t kill you right now?”
“27, 40, 70, 23” Percy stated.
“What does that mean?”
“That is where we are right now. I know exactly where we are. And you’ll need me to help navigate the sea.”
“What’s to stop you from killing me, if you can find the island on your own.”
“I know the coordinates, but I need you to help avoid the dangerous islands. I don’t know the Sea of Monsters and which places to avoid, so I need your help as well. We can find Grover faster if we work together.”
Annabeth thought for a minute, then cautiously lowered her blade from him.
“Thank you,” he said.
“You get us to the island, and you will tell me everything.”
“Okay.”
-
As they sailed, Percy told her about his time after she and Tyson escaped. He told her that after he freed her and Tyson, he was in trouble with Luke. He made his own escape from the ship and was able to hijack the fisherman’s boat. He told her that he entered the Sea of Monsters through the Clashing Rocks. Once on the other side, he could feel her in the water and went to find her.
As he was telling her his story, he coaxed her story out as well. He learned how she and Tyson were able to make land and how Clarisse rescued them from monsters in her riverboat and took them aboard before making for the Sea of Monsters. After the rescue, Clarisse decided to use the entrance guarded by Scylla and Charybdis. Percy was baffled, hearing that even Clarisse would be bold (and stupid) enough to try and destroy the monster whirlpool with cannons. After the failure to destroy the monster, the ship’s engine soon exploded.
“I saw Clarisse get off the ship before it blew.”
“What about the Cyclops?”
“Tyson-” Annabeth started, but stopped, looking down in melancholy, “He…He went to try and save the ship. He bought me enough time to get to a lifeboat before the ship blew up. He…saved me.”
“He sounded pretty cool. Wish I got to know him better.”
“So do I. I was so wrong about him. I…”
Percy didn’t know how to comfort her. He was about to pat her shoulder, but she hit his hand away.
“Don’t,” she said, angrily, “You don’t get to betray us and then turn around and try to be a friend. I don’t need your console.”
“You and Grover are my friends. And the Cyclops-”
“Tyson!” Annabeth corrected him.
“Yeah, Tyson. He was important to you.”
“Not just me. Sally too. Oh gods, how am I going to tell her-”
“Wait, what do you mean?” Percy asked, as he shifted from pity to curiosity.
Annabeth lips tightened and looked away, but she could feel Percy’s gaze intense.
“Why was Tyson important to my Mom?” he said, with more demanding volume.
Annabeth turned back to him and could not break the stare as he looked at her with a mix of anticipation and demand, “Because…Sally…she adopted Tyson. He’s…”
“He’s my adopted brother!?” Percy said, louder than he intended, “How…I mean…”
“When you were gone, I told Sally about you leaving. I wanted to keep an eye on her, in case you showed, and that’s when I saw her with Tyson. She told me he use to come to her candy store, and I guess she came to love him. When I first saw him in your-Sally’s-home, I thought he was trying to hurt you or Sally, and Sally stopped me from attacking him. When I was heading to camp, I still wanted to keep an eye on him and he helped me fight some monsters at the school that Sally enrolled him in. And he stayed by my side, saying he was supposed to find you.”
Percy was silent, his eyes unblinking, as the gears in his head went into overdrive. He knew he was related to some Cyclopes through his father and that didn’t really bother him. But the fact that Tyson was adopted by his mom was completely different. Tyson was there for her, and became a second child to her. Percy felt a bit jealous of that, but he was almost immediately sad again, thinking that Tyson was gone and Sally had lost another child.
“He…we…We need to get moving,” Percy proclaimed after some stammering. He decided to bury the thoughts for later. Right now, they needed to save another friend.
“Fine,” Annabeth said, “I need to see the chart. I can map the islands we can avoid and ones that are relatively safe.”
“Whatever you say, Wise Girl,” Percy said as he showed her to the map.
-
After Annabeth she looked at the charts, she determined their next obstacle before reaching their destination.
“We’re heading towards the Isle of the Sirens.”
Percy looked at the map, “Alright, well I think I could keep the ship out of hearing range-”
“I want to hear them,” Annabeth said, plainly.
Percy’s head snapped up from the map to Annabeth with his eyes wide, “Are you crazy? I thought people are supposed to go nuts after hearing their song.”
“Percy, I need to do this,” she stated, calmly.
“Why?”
“It’s something you can’t understand. I’ve heard tales. If you listened to their song, you’d comeback wiser.”
“Yeah, if you survive,” Percy said.
“I need this Percy. Please.”
Percy looked at her, and bit his lips. “Fine, but if we’re doing this, we are taking precautions.”
“No kidding, Seaweed Brain.”
They discussed the plan and Percy tied Annabeth to the ship outside. He made sure the ropes were extra tight before heading below deck, into his room and closed the door, blasting music in his headphones as he moved the ship toward the island. As the ship moved, he could hear Annabeth’s voice outside, screaming to him. He turned the music up louder to drown out her pleading voice, and potentially the siren’s song, until it was at the max.
Then he sensed it.
A body in the water, moving away from his boat. Keeping his headphones on, he saw Annabeth gone and the ropes had been cut, and saw her dagger laying on the floor.
“Hades” he said to himself as he saw Annabeth swim towards the island.
Percy stopped the boat, commanding it to stay, and jumped into the water and used his power to torpedo towards her. He got closer but the waves pushed him and Annabeth away from each other, sending one or both of them towards rocks, nets, or underwater mines. By the time Percy got his bearings, he saw her swimming closer to the island. He kept underwater, out of the range of the sirens’ voices, but Annabeth was still paddling, and he shot towards her, grabbing her ankle.
He was soon struck by a vision, which he imagined was Annabeth’s greatest desire. It was a picnic with her parents. Percy also saw Luke and a version of himself sitting there as well. Everyone happy to see her and in the background, a huge city of Manhattan, only rebuilt by her.
Once the vision cleared, Percy could feel Annabeth fighting and kicking him, trying to break free. Percy used all his force to pull Annabeth under the water with him, and he wrapped his arms around her as he swam away from the island before forming a bubble around them.
Once in the bubble, with the song completely silent, Annabeth stopped struggling and looked at Percy, realizing her present surroundings. She let out a heartbreaking sob and she leaned into Percy. Percy just held her close and let her cry, ignoring their surroundings, knowing for now, neither of them were in immediate danger.
He whispered to her, trying to comfort her. Once she calmed down, she listened to his plan to get her back safely. Feeling drained, she allowed him to continue to hold her, in the protected bubble, as he led her back to the boat. He also instructed the boat to continue moving pass the island as they followed it under the water. Once Percy was sure they were out of earshot, he stopped the ship and brought them back to the surface.
The two climbed up the latter and Annabeth just rested on her knees, wiping away any lingering tears as Percy reached the deck.
“Are you okay,” he asked.
“I’m fine,” she said quickly, “I just didn’t know…”
Percy contemplated his next words carefully before speaking.
“I saw it,” he stated, “You rebuilt Manhattan. Your parents, Luke…me.”
“You had no right!” she scolded him. Her face red with anger and embarrassment.
“I didn’t mean to,” he said, “I just saw it when I was rescuing you. I’m sorry.”
Annabeth inhaled and collected her thoughts, “I guess you didn’t know.”
“Your temptation…is saving me and Luke?”
She looked away, but Percy kept prodding, “Annabeth, it wasn’t your…it isn’t your fault. What I did, it was my choice. You aren’t responsible for me or ‘saving’ me.”
“You just left,” Annabeth said, “You left with Luke and I had to find out from Chiron that you betrayed us. I never even knew why…”
Annabeth’s voice faded as she was holding back her sorrow, “I guess nothing’s permanent.”
“He said he was sorry I was born,” Percy said, and she looked at him. He looked like his blue-green eyes were off at a distant, “Poseidon. He said it was some unforgivable mistake. And then he gave me a pat on the head and sent me off like the good child.”
“Percy-”
“For most of my life, he ignored me, and I could accept that he was protecting me from monsters. But then he claimed me once it was clear he and Zeus were going to go to war over that stupid bolt. I was just a tool for him. And when I got the bolt back, he told me how sorry he was I was born. Then he sent me away. I nearly died for their petty feud and I knew exactly why our lives were so short. So when Luke offered an opportunity to bring them down, I took it.”
“I made my choice and I’ll live with the consequences. But Annabeth, it is not your fault that I left, and you shouldn’t have to burden yourself with trying to save me.”
She looked at him almost pleadingly, but looked behind him.
“Percy”
He turned and saw the island of the Cyclops on the horizon.
-
After anchoring the ship, Percy and Annabeth explored the island. The Golden Fleece was currently guarded by big man-eating sheep, so for the moment, they couldn’t risk retrieving it yet. They discovered Clarisse has survived her ship’s destruction, was captured by the Cyclops, Polyphemus, and she revealed Grover as a satyr in the process. Polyphemus trapped his prisoners in a cave, blocked by a huge boulder, which Percy and Annabeth could not budge. They realized they needed to trick the Cyclops, if they were going to free their friend, and Clarisse.
Following Annabeth’s plan, Percy was able to hide beneath a sheep while the near-blind Cyclops herded it into the cave. Annabeth used the trick from Odysseus, calling herself Nobody as she challenged him while invisible and she drew him out of the cave, with him forgetting to reseal the entrance.
Percy let go of the sheep and explored the cave, traveling through the maze-like cavern. He finally found Grover trying to free Clarisse with a pair of safety scissors. Grover looked up and saw his old friends.
“Perrrrrcy,” he cried out, tears in his eyes “You came!”
“Of course I did, buddy. No way I’d leave you at the mercy of that thing.”
“Prissy?” Clarisse shouted in confusion, which was replaced by rage, “You no good traitor! When I get out of here, I’m so taking you down!”
“Good to see you again, Clarisse. Need any help, or would you like to wait for your husband-to-be?”
“Jackson!” she responded in fury.
Percy uncapped Riptide and approached Clarisse, “Right now, I’m here to help Grover. You, I’m on the fence about. So here’s the deal: I free you, you don’t try to run me through until after we off the island and back home. Got it?”
Clarisse growls and grudgingly nodded. With a swing, he freed Clarisse from her bonds. She shook off the ropes and tried to disregard Percy as she grabbed her spear. Before Percy could guide them out, he heard a loud explosion and a scream of fear from Annabeth.
The three saw Annabeth with a bad cut on her head, looking dazed as she was being held upside down by Polyphemus. The Cyclops was cheering having finally catching Nobody.
“I’ll deal with him,” Percy said, preparing his sword, but he was grabbed by Grover.
“Percy, you can’t. He’ll kill you.”
“You need us,” Clarisse stated.
Percy looked at them unsure. But realizing his chances, he agreed to their help.
All three attacked him, as he dropped Annabeth, head first, on the ground, knocking her out. Grover grabbed Annabeth and made an escape, as Percy and Clarisse continued their attack, until they too fled the cave, across the rope bridge. Grover tried to cut the rope to the bridge, and as Percy and Clarisse jumped to the end of it, Percy slashed the other support rope, but unfortunately Polyphemus had already crossed it.
The Cyclops laughed maliciously, as he was praising his victory. Percy saw as the monster swiped away Grover and Clarisse. He looked at Annabeth, looking almost broken, remembering that terrifying scream when she was caught. And he saw Grover and Clarisse, a little worse for wear, struggling to get up. Percy’s anger towards the creature grew as he gripped his sword tighter. He got up and charged at his foe.
Surprisingly, he was able to strike heavy blows at Polyphemus, until the creature toppled over. Percy tried to get onto the Cyclops head, but Polyphemus was able to throw him off, and Percy fell onto his back. Polyphemus began to rise, and Percy started to feel the fatigue kicking in, knowing he couldn’t throw in the same strength a second time at such a beast. He looked up at Polyphemus, but before the Cyclops could gain footing, a basketball-size rock flew from an unknown direction, into Polyphemus mouth and the giant Cyclops began hacking and coughing. Seeing the opportunity, Percy got up again and using the last of his strength, jumped onto Polyphemus face and embedded Riptide into his eye, and the giant Cyclops roared before dissolving into a massive pile of golden dust, flying away into the wind. Percy heard a shout and looked to his unexpected ally: the much smaller and nicer Cyclops.
“Tyson?” Percy shouted in confusion as he saw Tyson standing in the middle of a bunch of meat-eating sheep. They did not seem to think of Tyson as a threat, probably because he was also a Cyclops.
“Hi, brother,” Tyson answered, waving to Percy. Percy had no idea what to say as he stared, stunned at his Cyclops sibling. But he then remembered Annabeth and her injury. Percy ran to look at Annabeth and saw she was hurt worse than he thought, as her head was bleeding. He had an idea.
“Tyson, Annabeth, she’s hurt really bad and needs that Fleece,” Percy yelled.
“Which one?” Tyson asked, looking at the various sheep.
“The gold one. Hanging on the tree.”
Tyson walked up and grabbed the Fleece and threw it to Percy. Percy finally had the Fleece in his hands. Percy turned to Annabeth and saw Grover looking worryingly at him, while Clarisse seemed ready to jump him at any moment, spear in hand. Percy ignored them and placed the Fleece onto Annabeth. Almost immediately, she woke up, and saw her friends around her.
Worried for her injuries, Percy asked her to hold onto the Fleece until she felt all better. He also was able to ask Tyson to lead the sheep away, so they could run for the boat. As they got close to the sea, he looked back and kept watch for Tyson. After thinking Tyson had died and discovering that he was his adopted brother, Percy was not going to leave him behind. While Polyphemus certainly did not inspire any sympathy for Cyclops, Tyson saved Annabeth and had just saved them again. He owed him, big time. He finally saw Tyson running back, with the sheep at his heel. Percy figured the sheep must have realized Tyson had no food. Percy waited until Tyson was close to the shore and summoned water from the sea to push the sheep back inland.
“Go, I’ll be right behind you,” Percy said. Tyson jumped into the water and Percy backed up until he could dive into the sea. He moved the current, pushing him and Tyson onto The Melicertes, and they climbed up with Annabeth, still wrapped in the Fleece, as well as Grove, and Clarisse waiting for them. Percy turned on the motor and drove it away from the cursed island.
-
Percy turned off the engine and directed the current to guide them back to the Clashing Rocks. For the sake of peace on the ship, everyone agreed that the Fleece would remain on Annabeth until they made land outside the Sea of Monsters.
As Percy went to watch the horizon, he saw Tyson, looking down at the water, at the amazing sea creatures. Tyson looked at Percy, and smiled as Percy leaned forward on the side, next to Tyson.
“Annabeth told me about you. She said you helped a lot since I left. I just want to say thank you,” Percy said.
“Annabeth misses you. She has the same look Mom has when she talks about you.”
“Right,” he said, “How did you meet my-um-our mom?”
“I was lonely and I prayed and prayed to Dad. He lead me to her. She gave me treats every day for free outside her store and asked if I’d like to stay with her for a few days. Dad told her he didn’t want either of us to be lonely anymore and she became Mom. She even got me school so I could make friends, but no one was nice to me until Annabeth.”
Percy thought about how Poseidon drove Tyson to Sally. He didn’t know what to think: If it was some elaborate plan in convincing Percy to come back, or if he really did care for her and Tyson. He then broached the question he dreaded, “How is Mom?”
“She is very happy. She gives great hugs when I get home from school and makes the best cookies. But she is also sad. She misses you.”
“I miss her too,” Percy said, solemnly, “Tyson, can you tell her I still love her and that I will make everything better?”
“You are not coming with us?”
“Well, um, it’s hard for me to explain. I’m not ready yet-”
“Percy!” someone shouted. Relieved, Percy went to find Grover, looking at a huge wall of rock with a single passage for their vessel.
Everyone saw the Clashing Rocks coming up on the horizon.
“Alright, Prissy,” Clarisse order, “Get us out of here.”
“Gonna be tricky. I got through because a bird flew through it and I timed it. And it almost blew out my engines.”
“Percy, we don’t have time to wait,” Annabeth said, “Thalia could die any day now. We need to risk it.”
He knew she was right. They were low on supplies and it could take days before he could get expect anything. He knew the extra weight might be an issue, but he needed to risk it. They got as close as they could to the exit, with no indication of disturbance.
“Everyone, hang onto something.”
As everyone got ready, he turned on the motor and moved even closer, as he prepped the currents. He counted to three out loud to everyone and on three, The Melicertes sped through the water as fast as a motor boat. They moved between the cliffs, as giant boulders began to fall from the sky above them. They were nearly in the clear as the motor began to burn. Percy kept pushing the boat and they barely made it out with huge gashes ripping through the paint around the vessel.
“Alright, we should be near Miami now,” he said as he drove the ship. He could smell the engine now burning and figured it be better if he guided the ship until shore was in sight before trying the motor again.
Percy saw the docks and began to guide the boat, until he felt an impact on his skull and everything went dark.
-
Percy woke up, finding himself lying on a soft couch. As his senses returned, he felt he saw he was under fluorescent lights and he pushed himself up, seeing familiar furniture and wall paper.
“It’s about time you woke up,” Percy turned to see Luke, standing against the wall, arms folded.
“How long was I out,” Percy asked, sitting up.
“A good hour or so when we found you. You were lying on the dock and we got you back here. Care to tell me what happened?” Luke said.
“Well, I’m guessing someone must have knocked me out,” Percy said sarcastically, rubbing the wound on the back of his head. He didn’t know which one of the three travel companions hit him, though he had a good idea which one to blame.
“The Fleece?” Luke asked.
“I guess it’s heading to Camp Half-Blood now.” Percy stated.
Luke pushed himself away from the wall and looked down as he rubbed the bridge of his nose, “This is not good Percy. Kronos will not be pleased.”
“Sorry,” Percy sincerely said to Luke. He knew that both of them would not be getting a good night’s sleep for a while with the Titan tormenting their dreams for their failures. “But maybe it’s for the best. We are gathering followers, so maybe Kronos doesn’t need to reform.”
“Percy,” Luke said in a dark tone, like a warning, “I’m going to assume you are trying to be positive, and not thinking of defying the King of Titans.”
Percy closed his lips tightly.
“With the Fleece at Camp Half-Blood now, things might get more complicated with the prophecy. You need to be very careful what you say and do,” Luke cautioned him.
“What do you mean?”
“I’ll tell you later, after you’ve settled in. But I will say that Kronos still plans on reforming. The Fleece would make things easy and convenient for all of us. But there are other ways, and I hope Plan B works. I do not look forward to Plan C.”
“I don’t…” Percy began and sat down, feeling light headed.
Luke came up and handed him some ambrosia, “Here, eat up. We have a lot to discuss when you’re ready.”
Percy took some of the delicious food as Luke left. After a few minutes, Percy stated feeling much better and he left the cabin. He moved along the ship, where he was greeted by some demigods, who he trained, and was introduced to a few new recruits as well. He finally reached the deck and looked at the vast ocean. He closed his eyes, feeling the breeze and the spray of the sea. He sensed where he was on the planet and he turned to see on the port side of the ship the beautiful structure.
The Golden Gate Bridge.
A/N: I try to be as loyal to the character personalities as I can be, even with the change in circumstances. I hope you enjoyed the fic. Hopefully I’ll post more in the future.

Idk if you have read Percy Jackson but can you do a head cannon where the paladins find out that their s/o is a Greek demigod like a child of Poseidon or Ares
I'm such a fan ofGreek mythology oh my lord. Here you go! x
   Shiro:
obviously, the news would be a bit of a shock to him. so much so, that it takesa while for him to even believe it.
hearingthat you were the child of Poseidon was something he wouldn't evendream yousaying. you were never one for making jokes – so he had to giveyour statement a bit of thought.
andthe longer he thought about it, the more it made sense.
therehad been a few times where you and him were together and water wouldjust start freaking out. the taps would burst whenever you got tooexcited sometimes, and he'd always said it was just a coincidence –faulty plumbing.
thenthere was that time he pushed you into the ocean at the beach and youcame out of the sea completely dry – upon noticing that you were,in fact, bone dry, you made your clothes wet to try and hide it,buthe had noticed.
sowhenever you finally tell him the truth, he would put all of thesesituations together and realise that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't aswild as he once believed.
hewouldn't make too big of a deal over it, even though he wants to. hewants to ask so many questions about your father, but he knows youdon't really fancy talking about it.
“hewasn't very kind to me, Shiro. he wasn't in my life for very long, soI don't really have a lot to tell you.”
hewould understand and treat you normally, even though now he's fullyaware of your demigod powers.
   Keith:
   flusteredboi???
Idon't know why, but I can imagine him getting properly flustered.like, red in the face and things.
becausehe's new to relationships, okay? his first thought isn't ohmy jesus christ the person I love is a demigod whose mother is thegoddess of revenge.
hisfirst thought is ohgod how am I meant to introduce myself to the goddess of revengewhenever I meet her?
yes.he's more worried about meeting Nemesis than the fact that she isyour mother at all.
   andthat shows. it reallyshows.
youtell him about your parentage and his cheeks suddenly start glowingred, and he literally throws his head back and groans like he's sometoddler not getting what he wants.
“areyou serious? itwas hard enough meeting your father because he works as a CEO. nowyou expect me to be cool around an actual greekgod?”
he'drun his hands through his hair and shake his head and start askingyou what Greek Gods liked to eat and what her favourite football teamwas.
youhad no intentions of showing Keith off to your mother, but seeing himlike this – getting so prepared for it – was more or less makingyou like the idea.
italso showed you just how serious Keith was about this relationship. alot of people would have just run off at the news of you being ademigod, but he was ready to face that life with open arms.
   Lance:
“babehonestly, i'm just trying to work.”
hewouldn't believe you at first. he would think it was all a big joke, because how in the hell can you be the child of Ares? that'simpossible. Ares isn't real.
soit would take days.daysupon days of telling him who your father is and where you're from andwhat you can do, and he would just look at you like “thisjoke is getting old now.”
sinceAres kids don't reallyhavepowers, per se, it would be incredibly difficult to prove to Lancethat you're telling the truth. plus, Ares isn't on your birthcertificate, and you very rarely have to use battle weaponry when youhave space weaponry, you know?
soLance just spends a couple days telling you to cut the crap.
untilone day, Allura brings in this pile of on-earth battle weaponry –knives, guns, swords, axes – and you finally get to show yourskill.
youpick up a sword and just start absolutelydominating andLance is just kind of staring at you with his jaw wide open and hishands clenched at his side.
   becauseshit. you weren'tlying.
oncehe realises you were telling the truth, he would be sointerested.he would want to know everything. the questions would be neverending.
youwouldn't be able to sleep. he'd be laying beside you, hands on hisstomach as he stares up at the roof, and he'd just be rattling offquestion after question until you have to tell him to shut up and goto sleep.
    Hunk:
hewould be so overwhelmed, but he wouldn't show it.
hishead is running at one thousand miles per hour, and he can feel hisbody kind of lurching and he's really confused.
buthe would just kind of smile at you and be like, “that's okay.”
tobe honest, he isn't overly surprised, but that doesn't take thestress out of it.
like, you've just told him you're the child of Zeus. he isn't just going toshrug that off.
buthe wants you to think he has, because he knows that it took a lot totell him the news in the first place and he doesn't want to make youfeel like he thinks of you any less because of it.
sohe does his own research on his own. asking Pidge everything sheknows about Greek mythology, but Pidge is just kind of like “isyour S/O not a literal descendant of a Greek god? why are you askingme?”
andyou know full well that he wants to ask you questions and he'scurious and he's confused, but you let him deal with it on his ownfor a little while, just to see how he's taking it.
wheneverhe hasn't completely disowned you, you sit him down and tell him toask you anything he wants to know, and the questions are light.
he'sstill quite nervous, and he doesn't know what's appropriate to askand what's not.
sohis questions are only small, like, “so is Zeus a nice guy or...?”
uponhearing that he doesn't really interact with his demigod kids, Hunkwould feel a little bit of anger at that.
hedidn't know you had grown up without a father. the topic had nevercome up in conversation, so he always assumed you just had theperfect family life and everything, because he knew that was what youdeserved.
youwould tell him that it was okay and that your mother was the onlyperson you ever really needed, and Hunk would try to keep his calmafter that reassurance.
buthe was still fuming at a god lmao.
   Pidge:
“Pidge,my mother is the Greek goddess, Aphrodite.”
“iknow you're good looking, Y/N, but comparing yourself to the goddessof beauty seems a bit narcissistic, don't you think?”
Pidgereally just wouldn't be having it for the first few times you tellher. like Lance, she wouldn't believe a word of it until you had somesolid proof.
butthe thing with being the daughter of Aphrodite is, you actually haveproof.because she gave birth to you. there are records somewhere in Olympusthat state your parentage.
soyou get them for her. you barely even try to show off yourCharmspeaking skills or anything like that, because you know thatPidge will find someway tofind some logical explanation for them.
theonly way to get Pidge to believe you is by showing her the actualreceipts.
soyou get in touch with the Big Guy's Upstairs and you get thedocuments after some hardcore convincing for Hermes, who insistedthat you can't just take property from Olympus.
   hegives you them anyway.
andthen you're showing Pidge the documents, and she's flipping throughthem with this awestruck look on her face.
“myfuture mother-in-law is a Greek Goddess? do we have to invite her tothe wedding?”
“yes.we have to invite them all.”
   “damn.no pressure on me, then.”

How much do I have to pay you to know every aspect of Sanders personality and his relationships (like friends and family) with anyone significantly important in his life
*cracks knuckles* Okay. Let’s do this.
I kinda already covered his relationship with his sisters in one… or two… prior asks.
Carry, even though she doesn’t like admitting it, follows him a bit around like a puppy. She is super proud of her big brother, but she also snarks at him and Really Sucks at showing her feelings.
Cally and Sander, mostly inseparable. Have always been, despite how different they are. And going on quests together - with Bianca Maria and Sam - had helped bring them closer together. Which is why her joining the hunt hurt, but Sander also just wants his important people to be happy and he knows this makes her happy.
Sander loves both his parents, but he’s closer to Chris. They do pranks and thievery together and Chris is the one with the open ear for emotional things - and Sander is very emotional.
Him and Clarisse find their own way of bonding through training. Sometimes, Sander hated that he wasn‘t a legacy of Ares like his sisters and he felt like that put a certain distance between himself and his mom. So he always worked extra hard, because he wanted to make her proud.
He’s super proud of his grandma and adores her. Which. I think I’ve never actively used Captain la Rue before, but yeah, I headcanon that even though Clarisse is a year-rounder, her mother is still alive. Caroline la Rue is a soldier, so she’s rarely stateside. But Caroline definitely adores all her grandchildren. And even though grandparents aren‘t supposed to pick favorites… I’m sorry have you seen those puppy-eyes? Sander was such an adorable, clingy kid, while Cally was rather independent from an early age on. So it’s hard not to get super attached to him.
Sander hero-worships his honorary uncle Percy and Percy did play a huge role in raising the kids - because Percy is über-mom, while Clarisse is “Oh good lords, how do I make them stop crying?!”-mom. I do imagine that Percy did not just a lot of babysitting but also subtly helping Clarisse, after all twins for her first pregnancy is a bit… much.
But Sander‘s favorite uncles are, of course and unbeatably so, the Stolls. He loves Connor and Travis. The Stolls used to pull off all those pranks together with Sander and Chris and they are the most amazing, awesome uncles ever, if you were to ask Sander.
Which is why he kind of sees himself as a big brother-type to Hunt and Heist when the Stolls adopt the twins. He loves teaching the twins all the tricks he learned from their senior tricksters and seeing the awe in their eyes.
For a long while, Sander insisted on being in the Ares Cabin, because both of his sisters were there and he didn’t want to be alone. That changed after the big quest and he actually became cabin-head of Hermes Cabin.
Sander has two best friends.
Though, he loves them both, Sam just takes gold. That’s… Hercules Grace is aware of that (and okay with that. Don’t forget the giant-ass crush Herc has on Sam *snickers*). After all, Hercules is Roman and Sander Greek so they don’t get to always see each other. So it’s totally fine that Sander has another best friend - because  Herc does too, in Loki, the son of Mercury.
Who, by the way, also a close friend of Sander’s. When in New Rome, Sander loves hanging out with Herc and Loki, as well as Nico and Blance of course.
Nico, totally his favorite cousin. He loves watching her tinker.
Though, honestly, Sander is just such a sweet, loyal, lovable puppy… He kind of gets along with everyone. While there are those certain friend groups - Nico, Herc, Loki, Blance and Kara in New Rome, the Sons of War, the constellation of Erik, Jonas, Chuck and Victor, the group around Derek, Rainbow, Stella and Melissa - he kind of has his fingers in them all. There is no group that doesn’t enjoy having him tag along.
Now, as just mentioned, the Sons of War.
They, of course, have a particularly close bond. Sander, Sam, Trend and Marshall. They have worked hard to become the heroes they are now.
But still, Sam is his very important best friend. They are a heart and a soul (…do you say that in English? Somehow it doesn’t sound right in English. Oh well).
Now that we covered family and friends, let’s move on to lovers.
His first relationship was with Derek, between 2027 and 2028. They were 12 at the time. By the way, ages of their dating history can be solemnly blamed on me sucking at math. I had already mapped out their previous relationships and written about them by the time math caught up with me and went all “Oh shit. They’re super young”.
But we’re in the future and let’s say all my friends already also had their first partners when they were 12/13, not to mention the Graeco-Romans are not exactly known for chastity, sooo… Look past it.
Sander is the only person aside from Sam that Derek is super fond of and that Derek would fight for. Because Derek knows that this war-boy is a sweetie at heart.
In 2028, after the breakup, Sander and Sam started their… thing. They were never officially dating, but over the following three years they continuously had hook-ups - though they started just out with heavy kissing and making out in the aftermath of fights. It’s always been a quest-exclusive thing. “What happens in the tent stays in the tent”, so to speak.
But always only when neither of them were in relationships, of course. Because Sander doesn’t cheat (and neither does Sammy).
Sander’s second relationship was in 2029 with Jonas Meyer, a son of Enyalios. A very soft boy despite being a son of war. It was the first time that Sander was more in a… traditional protector-boyfriend-role. And even though the two of them broke up, they’re still friends. Though not the closest - after all, Jonas went and formed his own little pseudo Sons of War group with Erik, Chuck and Victor.
Sander had his first girlfriend in 2030 with Stella Ribeiro. The daughter of Aphrodite knew what she wanted and she got it. They were a typical Golden Couple kinda deal; the jock and the cheerleader. The great hero and his doting, caring girlfriend.
(Sometimes, it amazes Sander that Stella and Jonas ended up together.)
So, aside from Jonas, Sander always picked rather bossy lovers who took the lead in the relationship. Derek, Stella, Donny. He’s always been more of a follower than the daring one who cockily seduces someone. That’s just not in his nature.
And after Stella, well, Donny. And that is its own story, literally.
(Fun fact: If Sonny wouldn’t have gotten together in Chasing Fireflies, Sander would have most likely started dating Phyl Rosenberg for a little whiler. Endgame still Sonny, of course.)
Now, as mentioned, Sander is very emotional. He… feels a lot. He’s soft, despite trying so hard to be a Son of War, despite being the biggest hero of Camp Half-Blood of his generation.
He adores Donny. He always adored Donny. Sure, he also started seeing Donny in a sexual way when they got older, but mainly he just… worships the ground Donny walks on. He always thought Donny was out of his league, which believe me Donny would tell you is totally ridiculous.
Sander is fiercely protective of the people he loves. And he loves a lot of people. He’s actually… a lot like Percy there. He loves and cherishes his friends and wants to keep them all safe at all times.
Weird things about Sander.
You know how I prefer my archetypical top and bottom definitions, where yeah depending on who they’re partnered with they would then instead end up bottoming for a “more top” kind of character, but generally I am very anime about seme/uke definitions. Sue me.
Sander is a character that if you asked me top/bottom, I would say “switch”. Sure, he tops for Donny, but he bottomed for Derek, he bottomed for Sam but nowadays would then rather top for Sam. He just generally doesn’t care.
He’s definitely a little more subby, because he prefers to let his partners take the lead. So if you ever want to see BDSM with Sonny, I’m afraid you’re not gonna get what you’d expect because Donny would totally dom the heck out of his boyfriend. Which. So confusing for me personally because I generally always write the top as the dom and the bottom as the sub.
Sander is not a good student, but he works very hard and attends college to get his dreamjob at the Demigod Protective Services. And not just that, he actually ends up becoming the new head once Nico is forced to retire by his husband (What? Percy wants some Nico-time too).
Important dates:
Sander was born on the 31st March 2015, with his twin-sister Calandra.
Sander and Donny got together on the 28t August 2032 and they got married on the 22nd December 2032.
After graduation, Sander and Donny move to New York together with Trend, Derek and Sam to study, but they’re not quite happy there so they return to New Athens, where they end up sharing a duplex house that has a connecting door.
Donny and Sander have seven kids - one set of twins and one set of triplets. Aaand they lived happily ever after.

Boys are falling for me- well more on top of me. . .
CHAPTER NINE:
Boys are falling for me- well more on top of me. . .
Catherine's Pov.
I spent the next few days trying to get the hang of the whole demigod thing.
I liked hanging with the Hermes cabin, especially for the camp activities, and I actually did pretty well in sword fighting (except for when I almost decapitated Percy), and I slowly got the hang of the lava wall, leaving with a few burns of course, and I found out one of my favorite things to do was ride the pegasi from the stables. I got a pretty cool one named Felicity, she had shining black fur and and dark mane, Even though I was having fun and all, I still felt left out because I never got claimed at any of the campfires or during the activities.
Each day more and more campers showed up and all of them got claimed at the fire. Percy and Anna tried to make me feel better about the whole situation every night, but nothing could. And all I could think was, am I not good enough? Am I too embarrassing or weak to claim? If any of these gods were my parents then what's the difference between me and all these other new kids? Do I just not belong here?
These thoughts consumed me all through the night and during activities, enough that I began to lose focus sometimes and I actually almost fell off the lava wall one day, but one of the campers on a pegasi caught me so I got away with just a scratch.
This only worried Anna and Percy more, I could tell by the looks in their eyes, but they never said anything and tried not to bring it up whenever we were together. It's sweet how they're trying to protect my feelings, but this really shouldn't be as big of a deal as I was making it.
So, after my first week there, I decide to let it go. If my parent didn't want me, then they didn't want me, I was use to it already. I found a home, and a family, and Chiron is enough like a dad to all of us, (Mr.D being the annoying uncle who never remembers your name), and I was happy with that.
>>>>>
Having a strange boy fall on me and a clifford sized dog attack me was not how I imagined my day going.
I was just enjoying polishing my sword after a hard workout. I was sitting in the dark shade of a tree next to the strawberry fields, when out of nowhere I heard someone yell-
"Look out!"
Next thing I know I feel weight crash down on my shoulders and I fall onto my side groaning.
I look up to see what the actual hades was on top of me, and saw a short, pale, boy wearing all black, groaning as he laid across my side. He held a dark blade which was stuck in the ground just inches from my stomach and his messy black hair was scattered everywhere.
"What the hades?" I yelled and he looked up with wide eyes as if he just noticed he fell onto someone.
"So-Sorry, sorry!" He shouted and immediately stood up, reaching an awkward hand down to help me up.
I huffed, taking his hand and crossing my arms over my chest once he let go. He coughed awkwardly and looked away, grabbing his sword out of the ground and sheathing it as Anna and Percy ran over.
"What's going on?" Anna said and then her eyes ran over the strange looking boy as he stood there with his gaze hidden. "Oh, Nico what are you doing here? I thought you left for a quest?"
"Nico how are you." Percy's face lit up with a smile and he walked over, giving "Nico" a hug. Said boy blushed and cleared his throat, awkwardly patting Percy's back a few times.
"I did, and now I'm back." He answered once Percy let go and he looked over at me apologetically. "I just got a little confused on my way back and accidentally shadow traveled onto this girl. Sorry again."
I huffed and looked at Anna incredulously who just laughed and rolled her eyes.
Nico looked at me oddly then at Anna who just shrugged her shoulders and sighed.
"She'll forgive you eventually, she's just stubborn." She explained to him and I gave her a look of betrayal. She rolled her eyes then walked over to my side. "Nico this is Catherine bancroft. Catherine this is Nico di Angelo, he's a demigod son of Hades, he lives here, but he only visits once in a while."
I sighed and finally looked Nico straight in the eye, sticking my hand out quickly. He flinched at my quick move and awkwardly took my hand before shaking it slightly and quickly letting go.
"Wait." I cocked an eyebrow and looked over at Anna. "I thought there weren't supposed to be children of the big three, except for Percy."
"That's what everyone says." The small emo boy mumbled and I kept my eyebrow arched as I looked back over to Anna.
"They're not. Nico, Thalia, and I are the only exceptions because our parents broke the oath, but Nico was born before the oath in the 1920's, then he was stuck in a time sucking casino for 90 years until he escaped with his sister. Now he's here and boom, child of the big three."
Percy answers my question and ends the whole thing with a shrug as if that was the most normal thing to say. Which it probably was here.
"Okay." I say like I completely understood that.
I didn't.
"So how long are you staying Nico." Anna asked as an awkward silence began to settle upon us.
"Only until the campfire." Nico huffed and looked back towards the tree in which he fell out of on top of me. "I still have some business to finish in the underworld."
Business in the underworld, okay steering clear of this guy for the rest of my life.
"Aw, that's a shame." Percy walked over and put his arm around Nico's shoulders. "Can you at least stay for the night? Your cabin was just finished and you haven't even slept in it."
"I don't really want to." Nico started, but cut himself off as Percy gave him a pouty lip and the poor small boy blushed, probably because of how awkward this is. I certainly felt like I was going to die from secondhand embarrassment.
"I-I, guess I can st-stay." He mumbled and Percy punched his fist in the air.
Just then the air horn blew fro lunch and {Percy walked over to Anna and grabbed her hands.
"See you guys later." Anna called as she and Percy walked towards the Pavilion.
"Um. . ." Nico mumbled as we were left alone and I coughed.
"Uh, I should probably head down now." I looked anywhere but at him and pointed towards where Anna and Percy walked off. "Don't want to be late or-"
Just as I was about to run off, I head a sudden noise and felt a chill before what felt like a semi slammed into me and I fell onto the ground, something large and black on top of me.
"WOOF"
And that something just barked.
"WHAT IS HAPPENING!?!" I shout, but it sounds muffled under as my face is under a mound of, fur?
"Mrs. O'Leary!?" Nico's shocked and slightly high pitched voice was heard above me and "O'Leary". "Come on girl, get off her!"
Finally I was once again reunited with fresh are. I took a deep breath, happy not to be squashed anymore, but then I felt something large, wet, and scratchy run up along my body.
The O'Leary licked me.
I finally looked up and what I saw kind of terrified me.
Now living there for the past three months, I've gotten used to the unusual popping up in Camp Half-Blood, but the fact that there was a gigantic black dog with beady red eyes was licking me and barking in my face, I felt a little weirded out.
"Is this a hellhound!?!" I yelped as it nudged me and licked up my side again.
"Yes, yes, but she's nice, no biting here, just a lot of licking." Nico rushed out and I looked up at the dog, just as she licked me straight across the face.
"Cute." I chuckled and finally stood myself up, brushing off as much of the dirt and slobber over my body and sighing. "I guess I should go take a shower and change, do you mind taking your dog and telling Chiron I'll be late to lunch."
"Oh I don't really-"
"Thanks." I waved off Nico and walked away quickly, rolling my eyes and sighing. "Never letting that happen again."
