Listen I don’t know how to articulate this in an eloquent way but remember that part in sunflower vol. 6 “I dont want to make you feel bad, but I've been trying hard not to talk to you”? It’s like he’s saying I’m trying to protect your solitude but it’s hard, first of all because it’s not something you just know. You have to learn how to create a space where two people in a relationship still feel like they’re their own person, if that makes any sense.
Secondly, because it is a contradiction, if you think about it. Being a couple, being in a couple automatically deletes your solitude state, unless you seek for it, unless you ask for it.
Third, it creates uncertainty when you’re young and in love and you have all these feelings inside your chest they might as well just explode out of your lungs, you want them, you want to be with them (let me inside, wish I could get to know you) and it doesn’t matter how many years have passed since you first got together. There will always be this perpetual urge of belonging to someone that pushes you to just be around each other all the time, to know what’s happening, to worry about them and to take care of them. It makes you paranoid and insecure to know they asked you to wait for when they’re ready to not be alone anymore. It takes a lot of patience and growth and trust to just let them be and live on their own, you know? It’s probably the most selfless act of them all, even when that’s not what you would want (my eyes want you more than a melody, I couldn’t want you any more/I don’t want to be alone in golden).
And I could go on and on and on about how well this concept fits his entire discography.
I could mention Satellite’s «You got a new life, Am I bothering you? Do you wanna talk? Spinning out, waiting for ya to pull me in. I can see you're lonely down there. Don't you know that I am right here?».
Or Daylight’s «you got me cursing the daylight»
Or Canyon Moon’s «I’ll be gone too long from you»
Do I have to mention Adore you? ALL OF IT? Alright, I will: «You don't have to say you love me. You don't have to say nothing You don't have to say you're mine, honey. I'd walk through fire for you, Just let me adore you»
In conclusion, loving him is the antidote, solitude included.
[Such a huge development from Sweet creature’s «I always think about you and how we don't speak enough» by the way]

I was thinking about Tedbecca last night (shocker) and telling @movrings about my ‘Mighty Clown Energy’ 💪🏻🤡
And the thing is, I joke about clowning but it’s absolutely not clowning to me. My certainty that this ship is real is because…it is. Regardless of whether I believe it will happen or not (and for the record I still do), it’s real to me. It’s real to a lot of people. And yeah I know it’s not canon (hopefully with the crucial addition of ‘yet’) and that canon is what we want and trust me, I want that as much as anyone, but even if it doesn’t become canon, it’s still real. If Tedbecca doesn’t happen I’m not gonna think, oh well, I was wrong, I was deluded etc. I will think (after presumably a fair amount of tantruming processing) well, that’s the direction they chose, good for them, that’s their version of the story. But it won’t diminish the version I see.
And I hope different ships feel the same about theirs. Cause if that’s the way they have interpreted and enjoyed it, then good for them! Need I mention that Mark Hamill quote?
I feel really strongly about this with ships in general, particularly if it’s a case of characters who respect and hold affection for one another (on whatever level) and support each other and make each other happy or challenge and bring out the best in one another and if there’s chemistry then…of course the ship can be real, even if not canon.
And if we’re talking about the above criteria then, yeah, I’d say Tedbecca exists.

Can we just stop and think of Yoda in the DinLuke context? Because I did and it's fucking hilarious
Just imagine:
You're an ancient, probably all-powerful, green little goblin with a speech impediment. You've been terrorising the galaxy for some 900-ish years if not more. Literally nobody knows what you are, nor where you came from. You had shitton of padawans, and your last one ends up being Luke fucking Skywalker, emphasis on fucking Skywalker. But that's okay, the kid turns out sweet and capable, so you teach him. Then you die, finally getting some vacation.
Or do you. No, you don't, because Luke fucking Skywalker manages to get Anakin fucking Skywalker to turn to the Light Side before dying, so now Anakin is a force ghost, and you are facing an eternal headache. But that's okay, you've seen worse, you've been through worse. The war is won, there's relative peace in the galaxy, you can try and get some rest.
Unless you can't. Because there he is, the green little goblin child named Grogu that you remember from the crèche in the temple, probably one of the last force users in the galaxy right now. He's obviously going to need training, and the last master standing is Luke fucking Skywalker. But no! To make everything more complicated, the child gets adopted by a bloody Mandalorian. And that's when you know you're utterly fucked, there's no peace in the force for you, no sir, you're going to suffer for eternity and then some.
Because your last padawan is directly related to Anakin fucking Skywalker who, apart from being an emotional wreck and a walking veclro, is also your former padawan's former padawan's former padawan's former padawan. And Obi Wan Kenobi clearly had feelings for that mandalorian dutchess. So now you have the absolute disaster sunshine boy, related both to Skywalker and Kenobi, facing the challenge of training The Child.
And that's when you know there's a 100% chance Luke fucking Skywalker is going to get attached to both the child and the Mandalorian.
What can go wrong.

Genuine thought here but
If a driver has a serve a time penalty in the pits, to save all the drama over what classes as working on the car and what doesn't, surely it would be easier for the pit crew to change tyres or nose etc, but then serve the time penalty afterwards? Like the driver can't leave for 5 seconds etc after the pit crew have done work on the car?

Doomed by the Narrative Positioning | Kevin and Cecil
Something I mentioned yesterday in the notes of this post is the fact that Kevin is Cecil’s Double but that the equally as true statement that Cecil is Kevin’s Double is different and somehow less true.
As the audience we are introduced first to Cecil, he serves as our “in” character. He is the narrator, and consequently, we root for and agree with him. We accept the weirdness of Night Vale because he does. What this also accomplishes, by making him the role of main character, is predispose the audience to treat him as the central character for who all other characters are defined by. In terms of an anthropological kinship diagram his is “ego”. For example, Steve is Cecil’s (note the possessive) brother in law. Janice is Cecil’s niece, Abby is his sister. Cecil is Abby’s brother is equally as accurate, but the audience would never think of him that way.
What this means is that Kevin, introduced second and seemingly almost identical to Cecil, becomes Cecil’s Double (and the less good double at that!). If he was just another radio host we wouldn’t think of it in quite the same way. He’s be a rival, or an enemy, more like Lauren is. But he isn’t, he’s something other.
Because we root for Cecil, the audience, however stressed we may become by the Strex arc, can ultimately rest safe in the idea that he will prevail. He’s the Good Double, the one we know more about. He has a niece and a sister, and a boyfriend. Cecil, as a character, has more connection and is thus defined by more than being Kevin’s Double.
So what about this “doomed by the narrative” part of the title??? Well, Kevin is even before we meet him. He is, at that point, already the voice of Strex. The tragedy has already happened. He is the Bad Double, which puts him in direct contrast to Cecil. So he can’t win. If he were some random antagonist then maybe he could be shuffled off stage left or redeemed, but he isn’t just another character.
Where the framing comes in is relevant here. From an individual character’s perspective they’re more likely to frame it from their perspective. To the audience Carlos is Cecil’s boyfriend, to Kevin in the Desert Otherworld, friends with Carlos, then it’s more likely he would think of it as Cecil is Carlos’s boyfriend. But as the audience we focus Cecil.
If the show were reversed, then this probably would be too. We would root for Kevin, and so Cecil would be his Double.

There seems to be a lot of fighting in this fandom over how people interpret different characters, and while I think it’s stupid to fight over this stuff in any case, I’d still like to make an attempt at helping everyone find some common ground re: Dean + commitment (specifically marriage).
I know a lot of people don’t like the whole Destiel/Saileen weddings endgame (and for valid reasons, personally that one is lower on the list for me but as an annoying multishipper I still enjoy it in some cases!), but I think the “Dean would never ever want to get married” take is not the greatest — hear me out.
It’s all about perception. A huge reason as to why marriage was not always his thing was because he never believed he could have this kind of steady presence and this normalcy in his life (so marriage would also signify moving on from his past life and embracing a new one). During a lot of the earlier seasons and even in the later seasons, marriage wasn’t a thing on the table for Dean; in the beginning, marriage is seen as an either/or scenario, in that getting married (to someone who... isn’t Sam) would mean an end to his life with Sam.
We see a significant change to the discussion in later seasons, with a focus on settling down with someone in The Life. (i.e. someone who can accept and love all parts of them, including the hunting life they share with each other, so it isn't an either/or with hunting and marriage/a family/whatever, but rather an enhancement of what they've already got). So once things started looking up in later seasons (and post-canon), I think he would’ve opened up to it a bit more (remember how he talked about retiring and going to the beach and stuff?).
After defeating Chuck (however you imagine them doing that), they'd know that there is no one messing with their lives, there's no next apocalypse looming that keeps them caught in a destructive cycle that can only sustain both brothers. They can expand now, have each other in their lives and a significant other on top of it. Even here, with Dean having hope for the future, I understand why one might be still hesitant to believe marriage is something Dean might want to do — which brings in my next point.
I think marriage IS within the realm of possibilities for Dean because it would be a way of his partner, whomever that may be, promising they won’t leave him; which is something Dean struggles with a lot. His whole life people left him and he had no idea how to ask them to stay (I could talk about the “I want you to stay but I don’t know how to ask you to” / “I want to stay but I don’t know how to tell you that” and “person who pushes people away before the other person can leave” / “person who leaves before the other person makes them” Destiel dynamics all day, but I digress). So I think the concept of binding his bond with someone (even in just a small, not-extravagant and not-legally-binding way like just getting rings and saying “we’re married” then bickering for a hundred years) would be incredibly reassuring to Dean and allow room for a lot of healing in his relationships and himself in general.
Obligatory author’s note: I know I mentioned Destiel in here a few times, but I promise I’m a bibro and big time codependency enjoyer that thinks even if Sam and Dean got into separate romantic relationships they’d still live very close to or with each other because they’re just that insane. I just also happen to be very multiship and Destiel made the most sense for the examples I was giving; the message I am trying to convey, however, can apply to any Dean ship.

hi! congratulations on 200 followers!! :) if it's okay I'd like to request ridin' from your 200 followers events + I'd like to be shipped with a character from the outsiders if thats okay!
I'm brunette w/ a shaggy haircut that kinda looks like a mullet, and gray eyes + freckles. I'm very much a nerd tbh! I'm really into movies, but like, the technicalities of them + the minor details of them and I could ramble about it forever to whoever will listen to me + I love rambling about my interests!! I also really like to read! Ill read pretty much anything w a pretty writing style or that seems interesting to me but I also love very stereotypically nerdy stuff like arcade games, superheroes, comics, ect.
As for my personality I am very very awkward around ppl I don't know thanks to social anxiety but the moment I'm comfortable w someone all that awkwardness goes away + I never shut up!! I'm rlly confident around the ppl I rlly love. My love language is physical touch and I'm affectionate because of this + I love to give and receive affection
That's rlly it! Thank you again + feel free to delete this if the event is over or something!
hii! you’re sooo sweet aww! 😊 i ship you with johnny cade, i feel like you’re pretty similar to ponyboy and every pony needs their johnny!

Headcanon where after so many arguments between the batkids and Bruce over his paranoia and complete disregard for his kids privacy, the entire family had compromised with (in the healthiest way possible) downloading life360 on their phones and that's how they all keep track of each other.
Now Bruce knew that this is mostly for his benefit and is supposed to be a healthy alternative for his unhealthy paranoia and helicopter parenting, but what he wasn't expecting was for his kids to start keeping track of him.
He's putting gas in his car and Dick calls him because apparently Dick has been watching him drive around on the app? And Bruce is currently at a gas station thats right around the corner from a Taco Bell and now Dick wants him to get food for everyone since he's already there.
He's driving home from a meeting and Steph calls him because her and Duke were shopping in the area and wants to know if he can pick them up, when he asks how she knew he was on the same street, he gets a "Oh I just like to stalk everyone on the app for funsies." as an answer.
Jason calls him and he can barely get out a hello before Jason cuts him off, "Bruce why the fuck is your phone battery on 5%, charge your damn phone" which completely stuns him because why does he know that. He clears his throat before answering. "Jason, what?"
"Everyone can see each others phone batteries on '360, now charge your phone." Is all he gets before Jason hangs up on him.
