No one asked but here’s my vision for another buddie date night in Performance Anxiety:

There’s a montage of failed dates before we cut to one where Peppa set Eddie up with a busy career woman. She’s the type who does multiple dates a night, but more importantly, she sucks at scheduling. Eddie arrives a bit early and is already nursing his drink when she comes in. They’re just past introductions when suddenly Buck shows up, too. Eddie’s back is to him so he’s only clued in when her face turns to horror as she spots Buck and realizes she double booked, and she mutters “Oh, god… So this is very quickly going to become very awkward. Let me explain-”

Turns out she’s one of Buck’s old hook ups who asked him on another date after he called her for a performance review of his own. Then the woman gets a call from a THIRD date she accidentally gave that same time slot, asking where she is, because that one’s waiting for her across the city. So she’s like sorry guys gotta bounce, this guy got us in to a five star restaurant and I’m dying to try the chef’s specialty, byeeee.

There’s a moment of confusion and hesitation that’s broken when the bartender sets down the drink she’d ordered on arrival. Eddie shrugs and holds it out for Buck to take and join him at the bar, and that night becomes the one and only successful date he has.

The thing about Mac and Dennis is that it’s very real. Mac loves Dennis, it’s increasingly clear and Dennis.. I mean it wouldn’t make any sense if he didn’t feel the same way. If they end up together or not is irrelevant, they don’t have to establish anything. And they KNOW each other. “‘Cause I know you man.” You’d think they already know how the other feels, I’m almost ready to bet that Mac already know it’s reciprocated, but he isn’t Dennis, he’s not going to shout it and make it go away because he’s scared of how much he wants that, he’s going to wait it out. Just like he’s been doing for years.

Even if Mac doesn’t know we can expect them to mention all of this at SOME point. It’s a running joke to the plot of the show they have to finish it at some point. So it’s real and it WILL happen in some way, even if it’s barely talked about.
