Fixing Spirits
If you follow Overwatch lore in any capacity, you'll notice an out of place element in the world's sci-fi rules. Among nano-technology, genetically altered gorillas, mechs, laser guns, hard light technology, AI, Omnics, and energy shields, there are also spirits. Two dragon spirits and a single fox spirit to be precise. For quite some time the presence of the dragon spirits have confused the Overwatch lore community, as they still have no explanation. Things only became worse when the fox spirit was introduced in Overwatch 2, indicating that these spirits were leaning more towards magic and fantasy than sci-fi. What's worse is that there has been absolutely no scientific reasoning for these spirits, despite even stranger and more mystical appearing abilities (such as Mercy's healing beam) getting scientific explanations (nanomachines). Fortunately, I am here to change that.
It is safe to assume to assume that the dragons and the fox spirit are similar entities, as Blizzard will most likely make it so that Kiriko taught the Shimadas how to get/use their spirits within the lore. Also the dragons and fox spirit seem to be visually similar.
One could theorize that perhaps the spirits are some form of nanomachines or hard-light due to some visual similarities. Now, it wouldn't be impossible for the Shimada Clan to obtain these technologies through illegal means in order to make dragons spirits, but the fox spirit is different. The fox spirit has clearly been a part of the Kamori family for generations. So how did this presumably middle-class family get access to expensive advanced technology before it even existed? As much as I would like a high-tech explanation for the spirits, there is none to be found.
But that doesn’t mean there is no sci-if explanation.
I believe that the spirits are a swarm of hivemind, highly intelligent microbes.
Now, I’m no microbiologist, but I do have an imagination.
A rare breed of bacteria (or any single-celled organism) is able to swarm together in massive quantities due to its ability to generate a hivemind between the microbes. This rare breed of swarming microbes (which I will give the placeholder name of "Sclera") can form itself into humongous (relative to a microbe), complex shapes, such as a fox or dragon. Sclera have become a bit more common due to hard-light emissions and nano-technology pollution in the air, as their presences contribute to the unique environment needed for Sclera to manifest in.
These Sclera Spirits are basically multi-cellular organisms with extra steps, but there are some key differences. Many Sclera have bioluminescence, causing the glow we see. Often times due to Sclera arrangements and quantities the spirits can be translucent, as there are not enough to look opaque constantly. Sclera can also disperse at any time, causing an visual effect similar to disappearing.
Sclera Spirits take the form of animals often through the interaction with said animals. The fox spirit came across a fox to get its form. The dragon spirits most likely encountered several different reptiles. As such, the spirits do have animalistic tendencies. So your headcanons about Hanzo and Genji's dragons acting like dogs can still work. And the fox spirit has made it abundantly clear that these spirits are living, feeling animals due to the fact that it clearly enjoys being rubbed, and hugged, and petted by Kiriko.
Now, for the abilities. Genji gets stronger sword strikes for his dragon fuses with the cellular structure of his (remaining) organs, muscles, and tissues in order to supercharge them. He and the dragon are one. Hanzo's dragon simply splits in two and shifts into a bigger form. The spirit charges in the direction of the arrow and the individual Sclera eat at the skin (or metal) of all that it touches.
Kiriko gets her own paragraph because most of her abilities use the fox spirit (I assume). I'm unsure if her healing ofudas use the power of the fox spirit , but if they do the Sclera most likely have the ability to also repair the broken connections between the cells, similar to Mercy's nanomachines. If the protection suzu uses the power of the fox spirit, then the Sclera temporarily reinforce the cells. Kiriko's swift step is clearly from the power of the fox spirit, and as such simply changes her genetic molecular structure and relocates it; akin to Moira's genetic molecular restructuring used for her fade and Reaper's shadow step. Kitsune rush has the fox spirit run forward output a cloud of Sclera into an area. The cloud takes the form of stepping stones and arches reminiscent of the shrine due to the spirit's connection with Kiriko, and that Kirko associates the fox shrine with protection and empowerment. The Sclera cloud has Sclera briefly fuse with allies in order to enhance their abilities through increasing their reflexes and speed.
There are two reasons why the fox spirit is stronger than the dragon spirits. 1. Kiriko has more spiritual training, allowing her to take full advantage of the fox spirit's power. I doubt Hanzo and Genji signed up for spirit lessons with Kiriko's grandma (and if they did Genji certainly would have not payed attention). 2. The fox spirit is older than the dragon spirits. As said above, the fox spirit has clearly been in the Kamori for generations. We don't know enough about the dragon spirits, (and Sojiro's tale is more about real dragons) so it's safe to assume the dragons came about during the era of hard-light and nano-machines.
TL;DR: The spirits are a bunch of germs in a trenchcoat.
And I like having the spirits be microbes mainly because spirits are said to be all around us and in everything, and microbes are all around us and on everything.

Talia took a 20+ Year Undercover mission a while ago
So! Talia is the Daughter of Ra's Al Ghul, and has been alive and at his side for many years now. Decades even. She is well into her 100's, even though her physical Body looks like that of a 20 yr old.
And in all the years that she has lived, what's to say she didn't take a few years off as a vacation? Even Ra's must take a few years off every once in a while, leaving to spend time on some remote island he can relax on for once. So, one day in the Early 80's she decided to do the same.
But she wouldn't be completely relaxing, she would take the break to further the League's goals still. She decided to Dye her Hair, change her Name, get into an acceptable College, and study Lazarus Waters to their scientific limit. She decided to name if Ectoplasm, to avoid any unwanted attention.
And while there, she met a pair of men doing the exact same.
Jack and Vladimir were nice enough. Although their Research was more focused on Ghosts, or as she would call them, Pit Demons. They were convinced that Ectoplasm and Ghosts came from another Dimension, and if they could find a way to open a Dimension Gateway to this theoretical Ghost Zone, they could aquire Limitless Clean Energy (and maybe find a way to contain the Ghostly threat).
Over the years, Talia Maddie would fall for Jack. Eventually, even after she had completed her College Studies and Vlad had left contact with them, she decided to extend her Vacation to further study Ectoplasm with Jack. One thing led to another, and eventually she found herself pregnant. And then it happened again.
Jazzmine and Daniel were the cutest little babies. But she knew the danger they would be in if it was ever discovered that she was their Mother, so she trained them in everything she could so they could survive. She knew her time as Maddie Fenton was coming short, but she resolved to stay, at the very least until Jazz was an Adult.
She didn't account for Daniel becoming a Small Town Hero, but those were just the Trials of motherhood.
Then, the day came. She left a note on her bedside table explaining that she regretted what had to happen, and left in the middle of the night. It was better this way.
...
The year right after she returned, her Father forced her to have a Child with his most prospective Heir. The Bat, he called himself. Oh he was Charming, there was no denying that, but unfortunately she was still working through her feelings about Jack.
She treated her resulting child poorly because of that, and that she regreted it deeply. She loved him, honestly she did, but it was hard to look at him and not remember Daniel. Still, she persevered.
The day she once again had to give up her son for his protection was the hardest of her life.
But it was unavoidable. The Coup that had taken her Father's life had also fractured the Organization, anyone could have taken their shot at her Son as the rightful Heir. She needed to protect him as she took care of the Traitors.
...
Damian always knew he was the One True Heir. It was his defining character trait for his early years of life. Even though he had grown to be more than just that over recent years, he always felt like it was a key part of his identity.
Until now.
Because the BatComputer had just finished running a DNA Test on the Blood of a man who he had spotted on his Patrol the previous night.
A DNA Test that had come back, with results claiming that the man, who looked almost exactly like a younger male version of his Mother, was his Half Brother.

There is an aphorism in science that all models are wrong, but some are useful. The general idea is that a simplified representation of something much more complex may not perfectly replicate every element of the real thing, or account for every single factor that would affect it under real world conditions, but a good simplification potentially can approximate something more complex enough to get broadly accurate* insights that are useful.
In my opinion, specific sexualities and genders (all of them, fwiw), and the even the concept of being cis or trans, are best thought of as useful models for certain amorphous clusters of experiences and feelings, rather than as things that have concrete, inflexible definitions that map perfectly onto every single person who uses that model of identity as a shorthand. Dictionary definitions of what gay means/what a woman is/etc., are all assuming spherical cows in a vacuum to make the maths easier, and you look like an idiot if you think that cows really are spherical and are not affected by atmospheric pressure in any way (or indeed that they could survive vacuum conditions) and then go around harassing cows on this basis.
A person's internal sense of self is more important than your belief in a model. Fuck off and let me get back to chewing cud.

Omg hi Ms. Yellow Caballero big fan of your work <3 For real though, I'm really excited that your sharing the Weekenders, it was a joy to read and I'm bongocat-ing now that others also get the privilege to read it as well.
Referencing your tags, would you please elaborate of ableism in fandom and, like you said, how fandom treats characters with unpalatable disabilities?
Hi Ms. Bud Lite I'm a big fan of you <3
TL;DR A fear of writing characters of highly marginalized identities shields you from criticism and discomfort, but it's actively stigmatizing to people of these identities and as a writer you really need to get over yourself and write The Icky People.
I guess I'll come out swinging on this one and say that fandom doesn't like severe mental illness. (As a note, when I say severe mental illness (SMI) I mean illnesses such as psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, personality disorders, etc)
Obviously, nobody likes people w/SMI. It's just insanely egregious in fandom to me, since fanfic writers absolutely love writing characters or HC characters with depression, anxiety, or a specific variety of PTSD That Isn't Scary. People actively reject any character HCs for a SMI. When people write a character with SMI, they nicely downplay it, ignore it, substitute it for a disorder they like better, or rewrite it. It's completely untolerated, in both headcanons and in fanfiction, and every time I bring it up I always get the most interesting reasons why somebody couldn't possibly acknowledge a character's SMI in their writing. I've heard all of these:
"I don't know enough about the disorder to write it accurately." Do research.
"I'm not X, so I can't really depict it." You probably aren't a cis white man, but you depict those guys just fine.
"It feels insulting to the character." There is no shame in having a SMI.
"I can't understand what it's like, so it's better to be cautious and avoid giving characters stigmatized identities." There are LOTS of experiences that you'll never understand because you've never had them - you just don't want to write anything you're uncomfortable with. People with SMI make you uncomfortable, and you don't want to write anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, or think of a comfort character in an uncomfortable way. SMIs are marginalized differently than solely depression/anxiety/The Nice PTSD, and by refusing to write them you're actively contributing to the stigma.
I think (?) I've spoken in the past about how I believe that the rigorous external and internal policing of writing people of marginalized identities is actively harmful towards efforts to increase diversity of experience and background in fiction. A lot of fanfiction writers are just terrified to write people who they can't directly relate with, because they're worried 'they'll get it wrong' and be Big Cancelled. I think this is negative enough when it prevents people from going outside of their comfort zone, but on a macro level I think this results in people refusing to write characters of marginalized identities as all. It's an insidious thought process, and it's reflected in people's unwillingness to diversity their writing or acknowledge canon diversity.
'Well, I don't understand what it's like to be Black, so I don't want to write Black people'. 'I want to project on this character, so I only want to write them with mental illnesses and identities I have'. 'If I write a marginalized character incorrectly people will yell at me, so I won't write a marginalized character who's marginalized differently than me at all'. Can you imagine writing a lesbian character with a boyfriend because 'you feel uncomfortable writing lesbian experiences'? It's blatantly homophobic. But people do that with disability and race/ethnicity ALL THE TIME.
People with SMI notice that you feel uncomfortable with them. It's obvious. They notice when a character has a SMI + anxiety, and you only write their anxiety. They notice when a character displays symptoms of a SMI in canon, but you write it out. And POC notice when the characters of color are written out. I know we all like to project on the blorbos and relate to them, and in the joys of your own head do whatever, but as a writer if you only stick to identities you're comfortable with you are actively being a worse writer. Which to me is the REAL sin lmfao.

Ectoplasm, Kryptonite, and Lazarus Water. How are They Related?
Popular opinion is that Lazarus Water is pretty much just sewer water. >~< But with it being a kind of matter from an entirely different realm/reality it doesn’t play by our rules. I head cannon it being similar to Oobleck in the way that pure ecto (obtained straight from the Realms) is a non-Newtonian fluid where the harder you hit the more solid it gets. Meaning that the reason Krytonite is solid is because it’s ecto that’s still recovering from the sheer force of Krypton dying. The reason why the Lazarus Waters are closer to a straight up liquid is due to Ra’s and his merry band of murder assassins having added things to a naturally occurring pool of ectoplasm. This then made it stay in a more liquid state that’s severely unstable. Therefore changing the chemical composition just enough to register as a completely new thing. It also makes most people very angy. Very much something they fucked around with and found out. :3
With pure ectoplasm being more like a non-Newtonian fluid, it now makes sense as to why it hurts when ghosts and other ecto-entities throw it around. But this also means that it can possibly hurt normal mortals if thrown at a high enough velocity. It also makes the sheer amount of property damage much more explainable. Because if you hurl a being made exclusively of ecto at a high enough velocity they’ll become such a strong solid that nothing in the mortal realm would be able to stand up to it.
Anyways, that’s my somewhat scientific take on ectoplasm, Lazarus Water, and Kryptonite. :3

It seems that two of the most relevant themes between Seward, and Renfield are the pretense, and the unrealiable narration. Both of them maintain a very delicate "balance" between eachother without acknowledging (or in Seward when it's convenient) the actual power dynamic in each of their conversations.
Renfield is an extremely inteligente man, and he is not "above" playing up the act that Seward wants to see to get to his own goals. He talks sweetly to get a kitten while acting his part of "mad yet eager patient" then when Seward moves the question to ask Renfield why he wants specifically a kitty, he says:
"I only asked for a kitten lest you should refuse me a cat. No one would refuse me a kitten, would they?" - R.M. Renfield, July 19.
Renfield knows that by saying that he is subtlely asking, and implying to Seward that is he not a qualified doctor? Is he not confident in himself enough to supervise a simple kitty at the hands of one of his most visited patient? Renfield really doesn't respect Seward, but he knows that he is they key to get anything if he wants to complete his food chain experiment. He can't break the pretense that Seward has made of him, or else he would be at square one again.
And what does he do after being denied of a kitty to feed? He is dejected a little, and simply sits down to think what he should do next.
Of course Seward denied his request, but not for an actual benevolent reason. One might think that Seward maybe would note that he should not be encouraging Renfield's problems that could harm him in the long run, but nope Seward is more concerned about what the kitty would do to the sparrows instead of focusing on the why Renfield wants one in the first place.
Seward is so focused on his own unrealiable perspective of Renfield that he doesn't actually listen to what the man is saying. His own curiosity is literally getting in the way of doing his actual job, but Seward doesn't notice because he is far too busy thinking how everything can fit his narrative.
On top of that, that "undeveloped homicidal maniac" diagnosis immediately coming after Renfield dared to express his own anger by giving Seward a mean look... It really tells how Seward is just using Renfield to test, and support whatever mental science theory he is crafting to explain his own twisted perspective for Renfield's behavior.

Scientific analysis of Douma's and Akaza's diets as demons
(tw: violence, eating humans duh they're demons what do you expect)
Akaza
doesn't eat women
hates weak people which means he mostly/only consumes strong men
assuming most of them were demon slayers trying to kill him, they would be rich in protein from their muscles if they're strong enough by Akaza's standards
if they were training to become demon slayers since they were young boys, they would've grown up developing high bone density which means they're rich in calcium when Akaza eats them
the protein and calcium content does a lot for Akaza's strength and durability as we seen in his fight against Rengoku who was literally struggling to cut through Akaza's neck
let's face it, he would've eaten that flaming hot donut if it weren't for the sun coming up
Douma
"women are more nutritious"
his creation of his ice clones are technically like reproduction
in terms of vitamins and minerals he might have a point
women eating more food during periods and pregnancy = high nutrient content for Douma
don't forget the stem cells from the endometrium, there's a reason why he can reproduce so many ice clones
convenient easy access from his cult where he can eat everyday unlike Akaza who's picky about who's strong enough for him to fight before eating them
it's NOT only about the nutrition content but also the frequency of consumption so with Douma's cult we don't know exactly how many women he ate all those years which adds up to the power of his blood demon art

Turns out an 80% hay diet - which House Rabbit Society purports as part of what they consider to be the only humane diet for rabbits - may actually be in and of itself actively harmful to rabbits.
Post directly copied from MMC Farmstead on Facebook:
"This is what the back teeth and cheek of a rabbit who was feed a 80% hay diet looks like.
the dental spurs caused by the hay are razor sharp and sliced groves into the inner cheek and tounge.
Every bite this rabbit took was agony due to how a hay heavy diet unevenly wears the teeth and causes malocusion.
Pellets are formulated to help prevent this by being the correct hardness. A healthy well bred rabbit does not require any thing special to keep teeth in check they file them down naturally in a motion referred to as " Bruxing".
This is one of many reasons why Hay should be restricted in Rabbit diets , and is not nessicarry when fed a properly balanced complete pellet .
We do not recomend Feeding hay to rabbits as a staple.
Hay is for enrichment and medicinal/transitional use only.
Hay dilutes the nutrients already in a balanced feed regimen, causes dental impaction, tooth spurs, abscesses. Its difficulty to chew causes mechanical maloculsion.
Hay from a nutrition perspective is not easily defined as a base nutrient , with the levels of protien and quality of other nutrients dependent on the individual harvest .
Hay is also a vector for disease, coccidia, mites, RHDV2, EC ,And many other vectors are carried into the Rabbitry on hay.
We also Run bunclub which is an educational group here: Bun Club

" Hay seems to be the most mechanically challenging food as it is tougher and stiffer than pellets ......... [70]. It requires more chews per gram to be processed which results in longer chewing bouts compared to pellets and carrots. This means that over a longer period of time the teeth are predominantly axially loaded due to the elevated bite force. If we take into consideration that hay with a lot of hard stems has reduced nutritive properties and potential limits on digestibility, then rabbits eating predominantly hay need to consume large quantities to meet basic metabolic and nutritional demands [70]. All of this promotes retrograde tooth elongation and incursion of the apices into the adjacent bone (most common finding in malocclusions) [1]. Furthermore, hay also promotes periodontal diseases (impacted food) and, therefore is not the best nutrition for rabbits [31]. Grasses and other fresh plants, however, are abrasive, but relatively soft and, thus, can be ground down with relatively low axial load of the cheek teeth as the primary strain on the (pre-) molars occurs in a more physiological laterorostral direction with the aid of the shearing power stroke"""
"Considering additionally that hay is more resistant than fresh grasses, it seems logical to develop further the hypothesis that pet and breeding rabbits had to develope stronger jaw muscles and secondarily larger axial bite forces than their wild counterparts to be able to crush their unnatural food more effectively. This might be supported by a shorter skull and more vertically oriented muscle fibers whereas a longer skull with a more anteriorly positioned masseter muscle (as seen in wild rabbits) reduces the vertical bite force due to a greater distribution of bite forces on all cheek teeth. As teeth at the rear of the dentition generally exert higher bite forces than the more rostrally positioned teeth, this might be an explanation for the found tendency of the cheek teeth to shift caudally in the group of the domestic rabbits. Furthermore, the presence of stronger muscles may explain the more salient appearance of the caudoventral part of the masseteric fossa (mandibular angle) in pet rabbits, as in different mammals (re-)modeling of the mandibular cortical bone has proven to be associated with oral processing of tough food (reviewed in [70]). This research has shown that especially a postnatal variation in diet-related jaw-loading patterns had a marked influence on the masticatory bone formation, leading to morphological variations between sister taxa in the long term [70]. With age, however, plasticity decreases. Based on this, rabbit breeders feeding predominantly pellets and hay seem to promote malocclusions in adult rabbits unknowingly as the masticatory apparatus of the weanlings is exposed to unphysiological strains that may result in changes of the skull morphology."
"
Genetic and environmental factors influencing tooth and jaw malformations in rabbits

<- this describes tooth morphology but also makes a strong case to increasing rabbit calcium levels as I have stated in earlier posts. all these rabbit were fed with free choice hay . latter studies showed a correlation between hay and instance of tooth issues when rabbits were fed a limited diet."
