The Queen's Going Away Party*
It's nearly time for Hades and Persephone to part once more. This is that story. But made kind of positive. This is purely a self indulgent fic. It's also an apology for not writing as much as I used to and for the horrendous title.
It's 4.5k words. There's some smut at the end, but it's mostly just Hades!Harry being grumpy as hell and Persephone trying to keep it together.
***
Hades, or Harry, looks at his wife across the table as she speaks with Thanatos to redefine the barriers of the incoming souls for the next day. “The grays,” she says softly, pointing at the map she’s made herself with parchment and ink, “must be spoken to after they’ve crossed the river Styx. I’ll speak with them as well to make sure they’re peaceful and not restless. Hopefully the abode we’ve made for them will keep them satiated and at bay for the day. Charon will be negotiated with later today as well.”
Persephone first introduced the idea of a “going away party” when she arrived back to Hades 6 months ago. She’d excitedly spoken about this new thing that mortals introduce where they celebrate goodbyes with drinks, food, music, and dance instead of sorrow and anguish. It's what she envisioned for her own departure. Now that it's actually happening, Harry isn’t so sure he’s all that excited about the idea.
“To go out with a big bang, as the mortals say,” she’d argued, fluttering around him as he walked away from her at the first mention of it. His fists were clenched, an odd tightness in his chest.
“I will not be celebrating you leaving the realm you belong in,” he’d said, avoiding her.
“I belong in two places, darling. And you’re not actually celebrating me leaving. You’re celebrating the promise that I’ll be back. And spring.”
He had rolled his eyes. “I’m not too keen on celebrating something I never experience. Nor care about.” He'd added the last part angrily and regretted it afterwards, but his wife was too worked up about other things to take offense.
She’d held her ground in front of him, her hands on his chest. She’d slammed the door shut to their room without looking and stared up at him angrily. “I don’t care that you don’t know what spring is. I don’t care that all you know is gloominess and darkness and ghosts. What I do care about is that when I’m leaving, I’ll want us to be enjoying ourselves. So fine. Don’t celebrate my leaving or spring or sunshine, but celebrate the amazing 6 months we’re about to have together.”
Hades had wrapped his hands around her biceps, picked her up, and set her aside. “I will not be happy that day no matter how many heroes and warriors and drinks you bring to this party. I will be mourning the loss of my wife, who I won’t see for the next 6 months.”
She trailed after him as he continued out of their room. Upon leaving, Hades had run into Hermes who had grinned and held a scroll, saying, “Your brother is pissed off. Guess which one?”
“Who invited you in?”
“Hecate of course. Hey, look. Guess the right brother and I’ll spin your queen a dress of pure gold.”
But Harry had waved Hermes away and called for Hecate to secure him somewhere out of his sight. He’d ignored the way Hermes had muttered, “Well, I don’t blame Zeus.” And normally, Harry would have very big problems with others coming in between his feud with his brothers, but he was too angry with his wife to care.
“Listen to me,” Persephone continued, stalking after him. “Why must we weep and suffer when I leave? I hate it too, so can’t we just try this? Something new? You know, the mortals seem to like it just fine.”
Hades stopped, turning to face his wife. “We,” he said quietly, angrily, “are not mortals. We experience emotions worse than them. My sorrow for my wife leaving me is nothing compared to anything a mortal would feel.”
She sighed, crossing her arms. “Let’s just try it. Just once. Let it be a parting gift. Look.” She brightened. “You can help me with the guest list.”
Hermes, being dragged away by Hecate by the scruff of his neck, had called over, “Allow me three plus ones, my King! I have three lovers currently!”
“Remove Hermes from the guest list considerations immediately.”
“You prick!”
“Just think about it,” Persephone insisted. “We have time. Do this for me.”
And Harry had given in. She’d asked so many times and promised so many things, he gave his consent two months in.
She looks beautiful across the table, putting the final touches for tomorrow. He hears her murmur. “Are the musicians ready? Good. And we’ve got all the answers to our invitations, correct? Remind me of who is attending?”
Thanatos goes into a long monologue of those invited. “Amongst the confirmed are Nyx, Eros, Psyche, Pan, Achilles, Hesphaestus, Artemis, Lethe, the Moirae, Adonis–”
“Not Adonis,” Harry groans, imagining the deity fawning over Persephone as he always does.
She just smiles. “It’ll be entertaining. It’s not as if half the invites won’t be falling at your feet.”
“Continue the list, Thanatos.”
“Yes, sir. Patroclus. Nemesis, Apate, though she is, er, in a spat with our mother. Harmonia, Hecate, Hermes, myself…” He continues on and on. Hades falls into a deeper pit of despair.
“Amongst the declined are Hypnos, Morpheus, Keres–”
“Why was Keres even invited?” Harry interrupts.
Persephone shrugs. “Formality. The gesture extends to Acheron, Macaria, Styx, and several others.”
“I see. Not too many of the annoying ones then.”
She laughs. “I made sure not to include them. After all, it’s a party not a riot.”
Thanatos stands from the table. “I’m off to speak to Charon about the souls then. I’ll give him several gold coins for his cooperation.”
“Shouldn’t we consider telling him to stop asking for gold for a trip across the river? It’s been millennia and we don’t even need the gold.”
Harry stands, walking over to take Thanatos’s place when the deity leaves. “It’s not about the money,” he says, sitting down. “It’s Charon who thrives from routine. He doesn’t believe in anything free either.”
“But can’t we be the ones giving him the gold?”
“I give him gold all the time and yet he still asks for coins.”
“I’ve had to ask Hecate to retrieve several wandering souls just this past week because they were unable to pay.”
Hades reaches over and tucks her hair behind her ear. It’s normally braided into a crown around her head, but she’s left it open this morning. He kisses her forehead and holds her hands, resting his head on hers. “I cannot find the words to express how much I’ll miss you,” he says softly, swallowing. “I find myself unable to dwell too long on it.”
He feels her warm hands squeeze his. “We’ve survived it before, haven’t we?”
“Yes but what if something happens this time? What if a new deity of destruction comes along and destroys the Kingdom and I’m left suffering without out?”
She laughs softly. “That will not happen. And you, my love, are far too strong to succumb to any baby deity. Remember when you thought Oizys was a threat to the Kingdom?”
“To be fair, she’s far more gloomy and miserable than I am and yet everyone only thinks of me when they’re talking of that nature.”
“Right. And besides, I highly doubt Nyx and Hecate will allow ruin to this realm. Especially Nyx. You know how passionate she gets about it.” His wife leans in and kisses his cheek gently. “And I will be back before you know it.”
“I tire of it,” Harry admits. “I tire of you leaving me for so long.”
“But don’t you love our reunions? It’s all I can think about when I’m in the mortal realm. The look on your face when I descend back to you.”
Harry holds her face and kisses her. “I could never do what you do. Be in two places. Two homes, both magnetic, pulling you apart. You are too strong.”
She laughs against his mouth. “My love, you rule a realm. The entirety of it. The world is on your shoulders, and yet you claim I am strong?”
“You are strong in ways I could never be. You are in pain more often than I am. Losing both your husband and your mother separately.” He closes his eyes. “Kore, I wish for you to have fun tomorrow. That’s all I want. Whatever you ask for, you shall have.”
She smiles, throwing her arms around his neck, climbing into his lap. She kisses him over and over, hard. “Oh how I love you,” she whispers, hugging him tight. “I’ll miss you so much.”
***
The next day, the entire palace is lively with music, guests, and decor. Hades finds his wife in the middle of all of it, happily chatting with the gods and goddesses. When Persephone first arrived in the Underworld, she had been a shy and ambitious goddess, ready to take on the task at hand. And over the thousands of years, she’s become the terrifying, beautiful queen that this realm always needed.
When he’d look over at her the first few years, he’d see the timid goddess everyone overlooked, trying to raise her voice high enough so people would actually hear her. Now, she’s a ball of light amongst the darkness, her glow radiating off her body to the corners of the palace, her laughter loud, her kindness bold.
Hades smiles as he takes a sip of his champagne. His heart aches. He wishes for her to stay.
She catches his eye. She looks ethereal in her dark dress, a true frightening queen. Her smile is wide as she holds her hand out and beckons him into the group. Nyx glances over at him, her daughter besides her. They both look at him with respect, but also sadness. They always do.
He takes Persephone’s hand. “Yes, my queen?”
“We were just talking about how it’s great that lovers are reunited at the party. We should host more events like these, hm?”
They all look over at Achilles and Patroclus deeply engaged in a heated discussion under the bright chandelier near the musicians. “Yes,” Harry says, “well, I do have to argue that they’re never truly parted as they live in the field together.”
“I cannot imagine being with the same person for my whole life,” Nyx says, taking a sip of her water. “Doesn’t it get, you know, repetitive? No offense to you two.”
Persephone shakes her head and laughs. “Oh do not worry, my friend. Well, the commitment is frightening, but it also proves to be tremendous amounts of fun.”
Harry wraps his arm around her. “She speaks the truth. And I’m positive that life also cannot get boring when you’re also ruling an entire realm.”
“And when your wife is gone half the year.” Everyone turns their cold eyes to the god who’s strutted up to their half circle. He throws a big arm over Apate’s shoulder.
“Ares,” Harry says, downing his drink. “How great of you to join us.”
Ares pushes his sunglasses down his nose and peers at them all with a grin. “Oh how could I miss the chance to be here. Look at all this festivity. I’m itching to wreak havoc, I can hardly contain myself.”
“Would you look at that?” Harry murmurs. “Hephaestus, my dear friend. How are you doing?”
Ares immediately stands straight and glances over his shoulder, swallowing. He finds nobody there, and Persephone giggles next to her husband, leaning her head on his shoulder.
“Prick,” Ares hisses, fixing his blond hair. “He’s not really here, is he?”
“Oh, he is.”
“Fuck.” His fists close and open in, what Harry thinks, is an attempt to ease his temper. He glances back at Persephone and Hades, giving them a slight bow. “My queen, I hope you enjoy your night. We eagerly await your return to the mortal lands.” And then he disappears.
Apate fixes the earring Ares ruffled, snickering. “How anybody could be afraid of Hephaestus is beyond me.”
“I’ve come to realize,” Hades says, “that he can be terrifying if provoked enough. And I for one do not plan on ever getting on his bad side.”
“Yes,” Persephone says, looping her arm around her husband’s. “But he cannot be more scary than you.”
He raises his eyebrows, holding her chin. “Is that so?”
“Well,” Nyx says, grabbing Apate who is watching the king and queen with wide, interested eyes. “We’ll be off to join the party then. We will, of course, be here to see you off in the morning, so there’s no need for goodbyes just yet.”
“But Ma–” Apate sighs as she’s being dragged away. Persephone laughs.
“How are you finding the party?” Harry asks her, pulling her along until she’s standing in front of him. The gld lights shimmer in her eyes, her pretty lips in a smile.
“I’m enjoying myself greatly.” She sets her champagne glass next to Harry’s on a nearby table and then loops her arms around his neck. “And yourself?”
“I’m enjoying it a lot more than I expected. We haven’t seen a party like this in a while, have we?”
“You host lavish banquets when I arrive every year.”
“Well, that may be, but we rarely have this many people in the palace. Everyone seems to be busy too. With all these gods and goddesses here, I’m wondering how the mortal realm is doing.”
She smiles. “If Ares is here, I imagine everything is calm up there.”
“That is true.” He leans in and softly kisses her, arms around her waist. She sighs, kissing him back. “I realize I never thanked you for not inviting any of my family that are, er, horrendous to be around.”
“Yes,” Persephone says, twirling his curls between her fingers, her eyes hazy. “I did not invite Aphrodite. I doubt she’d even come down here. The mere thought of a party that isn’t in her name would send her in a frenzy. And I myself am glad we did not invite…” she trails off, her eyes hardening. “Apollo.”
“Yes, because if he were here, I’d absolutely lose my–”
“No,” she says. “I mean. Apollo. He’s right there.” Her eyes are wide now, confused. “Wait. I did not invite him. I specifically put him in really big letters on the DO NOT INVITE list. Thanatos knew not to–”
“You’re not serious,” Harry says, frozen. “He’s not really–”
“My king, Lord Hades!”
“No,” he whispers. “Please no. Seph, tell me he’s not really there. It’s a nightmare. It’s just a nightmare. He’s not really behind me.”
But his wife’s eyes are still big. “I’m so sorry, my love. There he is.”
A big hand grabs his shoulder, pulling the king and queen apart. There’s only one person who has the audacity to do that. Well, him and his father.
“Apollo.” Hades says, taking deep breaths. He shoves his hands into his pockets to avoid accidentally punching his nephew in the face. “It’s you. And you’re here. In my house.”
Apollo grins, nodding. His blond hair is swept off his forehead, tucked behind his ears, clad in a white suit. He looks radiant, his eyes clear. He holds a bouquet of flowers in one hand, though they’re wilted and dead, and in another, there’s… a cat? “I am!”
Persephone peeks out from around Hades. She points at the orange cat that seems happy resting in the crook of Apollo’s arm. Its purring can be heard from several feet away. “How did you get that thing past Charon?”
“I gave him 50 gold coins of course.”
“For a cat?”
“Why did you even bring a cat?” Harry interjects. “More importantly, why are you even here? Who invited you?”
Apollo’s laugh is a booming noise. “Ah, I do not ever require an invitation to show up somewhere. After all, where there’s a party, there’s Apollo.” He shrugs. “I should be offended that I wasn’t invited, however, this is no subject to get upset about. All that matters is that I am here and your party is saved from suffering the same tragedy the entire underworld realm does: boredom.”
Harry feels the corner of his eye twitch. “So you invited yourself.”
“That’s an easy way to put it! Here. Let me introduce you to my companion for the night. I wasn’t sure if I should bring a plus one or not, therefore I bring with me a majestic creature that counts more as a friend than an extra.” He holds the orange cat up. The cat squints its eyes at Hades and Persephone. “His name is Apollo.”
“You named your cat after yourself?”
“But of course!” Apollo exclaims passionately. “A creature as beautiful and fierce as this one must be given the name it deserves! A worthy name! A name that makes love bloom, a name that makes the poets wish to write, the musicians wish to play! Apollo!”
For a moment, both Harry and Persephone are too stunned to speak. Harry’s glad it’s Persephone that offers Apollo a meek, “How riveting,” because he doesn’t know if he should laugh in his nephew's face or suggest Zeus exile the poor kid to humble him.
“But I digress!” Apollo says. “Now tell me, which person do you believe I should approach first?”
“Hecate,” Persephone offers immediately, throwing a look at Harry. “Trust me. She’s totally into you.”
“Hmm,” Apollo says, searching the crowd. “You’re right. I’ve seen the way she looks at my triceps. Here I go!”
Harry wraps his arm around his wife’s waist as they watch an ambitious Apollo strut off. “You’re terrible,” he tells her, kissing the top of her head.
“I am,” she giggles. “You are so different from everyone else, did you know that?”
“I could say the same about you.”
“Yes, well, it’s a shame there aren’t enough tree growing vegetation goddesses out there. Oh wait. There totally are. There’s Hestia and mother and Artemis when she feels like it and–”
“Alright, I get it. So what if the world is lacking in gloomy, evil underworld rulers?”
Persephone’s eyes shine. “You may be gloomy, but most definitely not evil.”
“Mm, no? Perhaps I just put on an act in front of you to impress.”
“Ah my love it cannot be an act since you still haven’t perfected it. I can see how you are when you must judge souls. Sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes you don’t want to remove parents from their children, lovers from their lovers.” She smiles. “Whether you like it or not, you get caught up in emotions in regards to mortals.”
“That may be,” he says, yanking her close. He leans down and kisses her softly. “But nothing gets me more caught up than you.”
She grins and kisses him back, arms flung around his broad shoulders. “Good,” she says, holding his collar. “That’s the way it should be.”
***
Near the end of the party, Hades gets on the dais and raises his glass, tapping against it. The crowd falls silent. Even Apollo stops making out one of Nyx’s daughters, looking at Hades with hazy eyes.
“Thank you all,” Harry says loudly, “for being here. When Persephone first introduced the idea of a party before her departure, I was not pleased with it. I didn’t like that we’d be celebrating her leaving, but now I realize that it wasn’t so. This party, in fact, is a celebration of everything she has done to keep the Underworld,” he looks over at her, “and I in tact.”
Tears sparkle in Persephone’s eyes. Hades swallows hard and continues, “Our queen leaving us will never be easy. But while we mourn the loss, we shall look forward to her return.” He points his glass in his wife’s direction, “To my wife. The beautiful and terrifying. To Persephone.”
The crowd repeats after him. “To Persephone!”
She takes a sip of her champagne and whispers thank you, keeping her eyes on Hades. He ducks his head in a small acknowledging nod and then drinks his own champagne. He holds his hand out for her and she joins him on the dais. The crowd cheers harder for her. Harry smiles. All for her.
Apollo the Cat joins them on the stage and rubs up against their legs. Persephone just laughs through her tears.
When the guests begin to leave around an hour later, they both say their goodbyes. To several gods and goddesses, she reminds them she’ll see them soon. To the grays, she tells them to count down 6 months from now.
Harry holds her face when they’re in the privacy of their own bedchamber. He kisses her softly. “You said no tears,” he whispers, wiping away the moisture on her cheeks. “No tears or sadness.”
“There will always be sadness,” she softly cries, surging forward, hugging him tight, “when you leave the ones you love.”
“And yet you manage to do it twice every year.”
“And twice every year, someone welcomes me with open arms.” She lifts her head up and looks at him through her tears. “Oh how I hate this part.”
“My love,” he murmurs, wiping her tears as they fall over and over. He runs his thumb over her trembling lip. “I will always mourn you, but wait for your return. Right by the entrance of our palace. I’ll wait for you for 6 months, a year, several years. As long as you come back to me. To your home. I can wait forever.” He holds her close, resting his head against hers. “I love you, Kore. You’ve always known that.”
“I have.” She kisses him again passionately, pouring all her love into it. She slides her fingers into his hair and tilts her head back when he starts kissing down the column of her throat and down to the dip of her neckline.
She gasps softly when his warm hands tug on the sleeves of her dress, slowly baring her shoulders for him to atack with his kisses. She shudders and grabs his collar, bringing him to the bed behind them.
In a mess of laughter, they fall back against the bed. Hades’s curls fall into her eyes, his hands all over her body as she kisses him through it all. He climbs over her and settles between her legs, watching as she removes her dress, throwing it somewhere behind her.
He holds her waist, kissing her stomach tenderly. Her hips. Her thighs.
Her fingers tighten in his hair. Harry grabs her hips and tugs her down to the edge of the bed, kneeling before her. She sits half up, watching him pull her underwear out of the way, whining when he softly bites her thigh.
“Ow,” she whispers. He smiles in response, parting her legs.
“My queen.”
He licks her softly, chuckling when she dramatically falls against the bed and swears. His hands hold her thighs tightly, keeping her hips down. His eyes flutter shut as he loses himself in the act, tasting her, drowning in her moans and whimpers.
She’s already so wet, and he suspects she has been for some time. Since the party, perhaps. Or since he locked the door behind them when they got to their chamber, as if anyone was going to interrupt them on their last night.
Persephone tugs on his hair. When he sinks two fingers inside of her, she swears again, and the walls around them tremble. He’s reminded of the time she ruined the cabin in the forest from the pleasure she felt. He wonders if he can ever get her to the point where she ruins their room.
“Please,” she whispers, his curls now laced between her fingers. She raises her hips to meet his mouth, helping them mouth. Harry curves his fingers inside of her, grinning when she groans, throwing her head back.
He keeps his fingers in her as he focuses his mouth above her entrance, licking, sucking, and everything in between. She’s drenched him completely as the minute passes and soon, she’s dropping her hands from his hair and grabbing their silk sheets.
She whispers words in Greek, English, French. Everything. It just comes tumbling out as she falls apart on him, her body trembling with her orgasm so beautifully, Harry wishes he could stay there on his knees before her for another century. He suspects it still wouldn’t be enough.
He pulls out of her, wipes his mouth and then grabs her face. He kisses her hard, arm around her shaking frame, holding her tight to his chest afterwards.
Persephone breathes hard, holding his no longer crisp shirt as if to make sure he won’t leave her. He never does.
“I love you,” he whispers, kissing her face again and again. “I’ll wait for you. I always do. I always will. I’ll be here for eternity for you, I swear it, my dear lover.”
He’s not surprised to see tears in her eyes again when he pulls away to help her put more clothes on. Instead of offering her any more words, he lets her cry on his chest as he tucks both of them away into their bed.
She’s still sniffling even as she’s drifting asleep, head buried in his neck.
“Do you want me to wake you when I leave?” she asks several minutes later, looking up at him with her tear streaked face.
“Of course. I’ll see you off. All the way back to Charon.”
She sniffles again. “You’ll have to let the souls back in when you’re returning. I only bribed Charon to tolerate the grays for a day.”
“That’s fine. I’m their ruler. It's my job. But do you want Hermes to be with you? It’s no fun returning to the mortal world alone.”
But Persephone only shakes her head and reaches for her husband’s hand. She tucks it under her chin and sighs deeply. “No. I want you to be the last face I see when I leave, and my mother the first face I see when I arrive.”
“Whatever you wish, my love.”
Harry raises her chin and kisses her once more, finding himself holding his own sorrowful tears back.
“You are my world,” he reminds her, carding his fingers through her hair. It’s been long released from its braid. “Return to me quickly so that I may resume worshiping you again.”
Persephone closes her eyes and nods. “I love you, too, my king. To you, I’ll quickly return.”

random Descendants headcanons that have been in my brain for so long but I've never really talked about:
Evie can speak a variety of languages; her mother taught her that as a princess she must be able to communicate with anyone.
Gaston has a handful of daughters that he doesn't accept as his own kids. Also, the Gaston twins are Gil's half brothers. (In one fic, the twins' mom is Mother Gothel and Gil's is an OC who was a metalsmith for Hook's crew but that's not really a HC as much as just a world building thing.)
Hans has a son named Hamlet. Hamlet is a Danish prince, Hans is a prince in a movie based off of a Danish fairytale. It makes me laugh.
CJ Hook is a flirt. I have no explanation but she is and it stresses Harriet and Harry out.
Lonnie keeps swords with her at every formal occasion. She was ready to throw down with Maleficent at the coronation and Uma at cotillion if she hadn't been stopped.
Mal explained their plan to steal the wand to Ben after his coronation. He didn't know how to feel at first, but ultimately forgave her and was glad she was honest with him.
Doug also apologized for stalking Evie in D1 and for accusing her of cheating in D2.
In general, people apologize for things they did wrong. Also they all go to therapy. (Chad, however, doesn't properly apologize for things and is overall insufferable, but in an endearing way.)
Chad is a firstborn child and was the only boy for a while, which is why he's Like That™.
Fairy Godmother is the godmother of all of Cinderella's children.
The descendants of anyone who was once under a sleeping spell have some sort of side effect from it. Audrey has night terrors and almost always wakes up with the sun, no matter what time she went to sleep the night before.
Many people that were spelled by villains have problems with fertility, which is why we see people like Philip and sleeping spelled Aurora and Belle and beast cursed Adam with only one child each.
Seaside (Eric's kingdom) makes the best saltwater taffee. I have absolutely no proof behind this but came up with it in like, 2016 and have believed it ever since.
Agrabah loves any reason for a celebration, there's many festivals that occur throughout the year (inspired by the harvest festival in the live action Aladdin)
Persephone visited Hades in the fall and winter after he was put on the Isle, but stopped after the first few years. Enter Maleficent, seeking a political marriage to help enforce her position of queen of the Isle...
Anastasia and the Baker were in a similar situation, except he decided to permanently live on the Isle to be with her 7ish years in.
Most of Anastasia's kids are named after some sort of historical political figure. Anthony for Mark Antony + various OCs. She did this in order to try to get back on Lady Tremaine's good size.
Drizella, on the other hand, had absolutely no rhyme or reason in choosing her kids' names except for the fact that they all start with D.
Evie loves to bake. Everyone in Auradon was very hesitant to try her sweets at first, what with the love spell cookies Ben had and the fact that the daughter of the Evil Queen was offering them apple tarts.
Jane loves anything pumpkin flavored, especially pumpkin spice lattes.
Jay is the first of the core four to learn to drive, and the only one to have his license in D2. Even after the others learn to drive, he still loves taking them places (and they don't complain).
Mal has a high tolerance for spicy food. She once eats an extremely hot pepper on a dare and Audrey tries to prove she's just as good as Mal, she can do the same thing. It does not end well for her.
Carlos connects with the non Isle part of the de Vil family after being encouraged to do so by Roger and Anita. He's cautious at first, but grows to love them.
Lumiere, Plumette/Babette/Fifi/whatever you call her, and Mrs. Potts have all technically retired from their work in the castle, although they do help manage the next generation of maître'ds/maids/housekeepers in Adam's castle. Cogsworth stubbornly holds on to his role as majordomo until Ben becomes king. After the coronation, Chip takes over his role.
Additionally, Mrs. Potts now works in the kitchen at Auradon Prep and is a maternal figure to many of the students there.
The castle's staff were there when the four VKs were first welcomed to Auradon, even though Belle and Adam couldn't make it.
When Uma mentions having coconuts in D3, she ate them in Montuni (Moana's kingdom). Moana meets her but doesn't realize she's the Uma, and they both bond over their shared love for the ocean.
The core four are assigned "punishments" of community service after trying to overthrow the country. Mal is tasked with painting murals around the capital, Jay is assistant coach to a local little league tourney team, Carlos volunteers at an animal shelter, and Evie works in a chemistry lab. Ben feels so wonderfully evil for sneakily connecting them with mentors without them knowing it.

The vks finally arrived at the closest shore facing the isle, Mal taking a deep breath and lifting her goggles to look at Celia. They didn’t want to draw too much attention to themselves on the isle so they would get off and on with the spell that Mal had used years back. “you remember what I said?” Mal asked Celia, Celia nodded, slightly unsure this would even work but Mal was sure Celia could use magic, and therefore cast the spell.
Celia took a deep breath and face the isle, picturing all five motor-bikes in her head as she spoke the incantation “Noble steeds/proud and fair, you shall take us/anywhere” the bikes all glowed a reddish-purple, matching Celia’s hair, and Mal nodded, knowing the spell had worked.
Mal put her goggles back down and revved the engine of her bike, leading the others onto the ocean. Hadie looked down at the water in awe as the bikes easily rode on the water as if it was solid ground, he whistled then looked back up to see the isle coming closer and closer. Celia laughed, feeling giddy as it sunk in, she used her magic, she had done it! She couldn’t wait to tell her dad!
After a few minutes the bikes passed through the barrier, both Hadie and Celia winced at the feeling of magical being forced back underneath their skin, and soon they rolled onto land, Mal taking a few turns towards Faciliers arcade that rested right next to curl up and dye. They passed through the wharf marketplace and through the alleyway where their old hideout was (which had been emptied and claimed by someone else)
Mal turned one last corner and parked her bike right in front of the place that used to be Hades Greek restaurant (he used to be there a lot, but at one point he stopped coming completely and left it in the hands of his hires and son, who ‘sold’ it and it was turned into a regular shop with furniture and decor)
The others parked next to Mal and turned off their bikes, taking off their helmets and leaving them on the seats as (y/n), Hadie, and Celia continued to carry theirs. Mal brought a lock of her hair in front of her and sighed, nope, still brown. She had a small hope that the barrier would reverse the spell that Audrey had cast but Mal supposed she was out of luck on that one. “Come on” Mal muttered, Celia leading the way to the arcade as the vks and (y/n) followed her to the arcade door.
Celia placed her helmet onto the fortune reading table for safekeeping (I mean, who would dare steal from the daughter of the shadow man?) (y/n) and Hadie doing the same, and walked up to a multicolored door with the words ‘Do Not Disturb’ in French painted on it.
Celia grinned at the vks and turned back to the door, excited to show off the arcade. She made a few quick beats with her fist, dancing as someone knocked back in a different beat. She did it once more and bounced in excitement as the door unlocked and slid open, the bouncer inside stepping aside as Celia gestured for everyone to follow her. (y/n), Mal, and Evie shared a proud grin and followed after her, Carlos and Jay looking around as they hadn’t been to the arcade in years, and the surrounding area had changed since the last time they were there.
Celia rushed through the entrance, gasping in delight as she saw the back of her father's head, she practically jumped down the steps and grinned widely as her father turned and smiled. “Hey!” he turned and threw his cane to one of his workers who caught it and turned back to a card reading table. Facilier turned back to his daughter and held his arms out “there she is!”
“Daddy~!!” Celia squealed as she ran towards him and slammed into his arms, laughing as he lifted her into the air and set her down on his other side. The two engaged in a little dance that had obviously been done time and time again, created years ago and they had decided to keep it up. Mal didn’t stop the smile from blooming on her face, while they were on a time crunch and the worlds impending doom was on its way, it warmed her heart to see good parents on the isle, it was rare to see one of the adults not seer at their kids, it was a wonder to see them be fully affectionate.
Plus Facilier had always been one of those adults the kids went to if they needed help, he was “nice” like that. Facilier tapped his cheek, expecting a kiss from Celia but the girl cheekily tapped his hat instead and started to run, squealing with laughter as he caught her and pulled her into his side. Mal and Evie grinned at each other, their delight at seeing the father-daughter relationship slightly dimmed by their lack of one.
The vks loosely followed the two Facilier’s as (y/n) explored the arcade, whistling a bit as she looked around at the extravagant displays and games surrounding her. She had heard Harry and Gil talk about this place before but she had never had the opportunity to visit it when it was active.
Celia grinned as her dad leaned down next to her ear “so what kinda hustle do you got goin’ on with them, shiny people?” Celia just grinned and pulled a small purple velvet drawstring bag out of her shoulder bag, plopping it in his hand and kipping over to the wall of signs next to her dad’s card reading table and grabbing the skull-shaped key then looping it around her neck.
Her father looked at her with pride as he held the piles of coins in his hands, all from the Auradon people she had read cards for in the last day. “Cher” her dad whispered, pride clear in his voice as he carefully poured the coins back into the pouch and tossed it back to his daughter “look at my little girl go, already conning half of Auradon~” Celia just grinned, perking up as Carlos called everyone over to a static tv that was connected to the Auradon network.
The reporter on screen stood at Auradon prep, next to the statue of Adam, as the camera followed him as he walked “Alerts of a sleeping spell keep coming in as it spreads across Auradon, sources say the daughter of Aurora, Audrey, is responsible for this spell; were trying to discover who is responsible for these vicious lies, and which villain has perpetrated this evil” the man stopped and held his finger up to his earpiece, his face paling in fear “it’s what? it's heading this way, cut it-cut it! we have to run!” the screen cut to static and the vks looked at each other in terror.
“We have to go get the ember” Mal rushed out, Hadie leading the way as you waited for Facilier to release his daughter's shoulder as he stared at the screen in fear for his daughter.
“I’ll protect her,” you said with a smile, holding out your hand to the girl as Facilier nodded and let Celia go.
“You better” he muttered, crossing his arms as you and Celia raced out after the others.
-
“Rookie mistake” Carlos grumbled as he spotted some of Umas crew members on top of their bikes as they rounded the corner of the alleyway. You sighed, looking over Jay’s shoulder to see Jonas on Jay’s bike, grinning wildly.
“Get off my bike!” Jay yelled out, leaping forward in an attempt to grab Jonas’ jacket as the pirate laughed. Jay just missed as Jonas and his four other pirate cohorts all raced off on your bikes, and you could recognize Bonnie on top of yours. “Over the roofs!” Jay yelled out, Evie and Carlos nodding and running off as Jay turned to you “cut them off” you looked back at Mal and nodded, climbing the buildings and running after the sound of the bike engines.
Celia went to follow but Hadie and Mal grabbed her arms, preventing her from joining the case “Hey, hey hey! They got this, we need to get the ember ASAP” Mal stated, nodding as Celia sighed in slight disappointment.
“Good timing too” Hadie muttered, checking his watch “right about his nap time” Mal raised her brow but followed her fellow vks as they quickly walked towards the other end of the isle where the mines were.
‘he takes naps?’ Mal thought, looking behind her and seeing you dropping down into an alleyway a few buildings away. She turned back to Hadie and Celia then quickly caught up to them as they had walked faster than she thought they would.
-
After a few minutes of (almost running) rushed walking, the three vks arrived at the mines, guarded by an intimidating metal gate with Hades symbol, made out of wooden planks and old tires, on the front, with multiple keep out and warning signs plastered around. “Hey” Mal interrupted Celia, who was unlocking the door. Hadie and Celia stopped to look at her confused, Hadie halfway wondering if she was backing out of the plan “how big is that dog?” Mal nodded that sign behind Celia and she turned, Celia sighed and shook her head as Hadie snorted at a joke that wasn’t there.
“You’ll see” Celia muttered as Hadie snorted again, pulling the gate open and leading the two girls inside. Celia gasped quietly and turned back on Mal, holding her finger up to her lips “Okay, you have to stay quiet it echoes like crazy in here” even as Celia whispered it reverberated against the old rocky walls of the isle mines. Mal nodded and glanced around at the multiple record speakers that hung off the walls, following Celia as Hadie stood by the railway that led towards his father's lair.
Mal jumped at the sudden sound of multiple dogs barking and grabbed onto Hadie, who laughed quietly and pointed at the speakers “not here” Hadie whispered, waving Celia off the bike turned-makeshift minecart hybrid “too loud, if we’re stealing the ember, we need to be quiet as possible, we walk. It’s not too far” Mal nodded and kept her grip on Hadie’s arm, tensing up each time the guardian of the underworld's barks echoed around her. Hadie glanced at her but said nothing, letting her use him as a crutch as the three vks walked down the dark and damp tunnels of the abandoned mineshafts.
Hadie took a few twists and turns, apparently a shortcut to his room (which was also a back way towards Hades main area of his lair), and soon the three stepped out into a pretty large room with a queen-sized bed with a dark grey and blue bedspread. Hadie grabbed a bass from his wall and carried it, nodding out towards the curtain door “an excuse, case he wakes up as we walk out” Hadie whispered, Celia went first as they stepped through the curtain.
Mal stopped as her eyes locked onto the back of the god of the underworld's head, his hair was a dim dark blue, the side effect of his hair unable to light ablaze. Mal sighed in relief as the god snored loudly…very loudly, it reminded Mal of when Ben’s dad had fallen asleep during a late-night hangout back when Mal was still in school at Auradon prep.
As the three crept closer, the sounds of dogs barking started to loop, and Mal looked around confused before Hadie pointed at an old record player, it had hit a scratch on the disc and was now looping on a singular bark. Mal breathed a quiet sigh of relief, that meant no dog to be fed to if Hades caught them.
Mal walked heel to toe as she snuck over to Hades, while Hadie and Celia slowly made their way around the other way. Just as Mal got close, Celia got fed up with the record and lifted the needle, sending a loud screeching noise through the cave. Mal and Hadie glared at Celia, as the rash decision had made Hades wake up. He lifted his head slightly and look directly at his son and Celia “What are you doing here?” he grumbled in a tired tone, yawning a bit as Hadie raised his bass in the air.
“Forgot my bass” Hadie simply said as Celia took out a can of corn and a packaged blue rock candy.
“I noticed, you were out, of canned corn” she tossed the candy and can to the god and he caught them with one hand. Mal by then had lifted the ember out of the dish it was sitting in and was bringing it to her chest, screaming lightly as Hades suddenly grabbed her hand, stopping her from crouching out of sight.
Hades turned to look at her, his yellow eyes were hidden behind a pair of sunglasses. Mal harshly swallowed and released the ember as he took it from her, moving to rest his head on his arm. He and Mal stared at each other for a moment, Hadie and Celia standing awkwardly near the old wooden stairs that lead back up to the tunnels. “um-“ Mal started in a meek voice, watching his eyes as he looked at her newly brown hair and eyes “-can I have that?” her usual confidence was gone, she was powerless and in front of a god who could pick her up with one hand and chuck her across the room even without his powers.
Hades raised his brow and turned his head to look at the ember, which was black as coal, in his hand. Then he looked back at her. “And why should I give it to you?” Hades asked coolly, taking off his glasses and tossing them to the side, leaning back in his minecart turned chair, lofting his boots up next to Mal’s face. “uh-“ Mal clearly hadn't expected him to ask that, she had expected him to get angry and throw her out of his lair. Quick mal, come up with an excuse or something! “I need it?”…nice one Mal, top-notch, he’ll for sure give you the ember now.
Hades rolled his eyes and looked to Hadie, who just shrugged. “Auradon is in danger and we need the ember” Hadie answered dryly, watching Mal carefully as she stepped in front of Hades and held out her hand, his father's yellow eyes staring down at Mal carelessly.
“Please?” Mal asked in a much firmer tone, her eyes looking directly into Hades. Hades huffed and lifted up the ember, waving the black gem around a bit.
“You’re only half Hades, the ember won't do everything for you that it does for me” Mal clicked her jaw and gestured to Hadie, not really paying attention to what Hades had just said.
“Hadie’s gonna be the one to use it anyway, I just wanted-to…” Mal’s brain caught up to the words that had just come out of Hades mouth and she looked back up at him with wide eyes, Celia’s jaw had dropped as she realized what he had meant “IM HALF WHAT?!” now Hades looked confused, looking at Mal as if she was crazy.
“you-you didn’t know?” Hades has lost his confidence, his brow raising in confusion, then he looked to Hadie “she doesn’t know?”
Hadie just pinched his brow and sat down on the wooden steps, ignoring his father and (newly announced) half-sister as the Mal started to squabble about her mother and Hades. “fuckin-what?!” Mal screeched, running her hands through her hair and starting to pace around the lair, Celia looking concerned as Mal tugged at her brown locks “you?! My dad?! That’s-that’s not right?! My mom said he was human, a full-on human!? It can’t be you it-“ Mal started to hyperventilate and Hades took her hands, bringing her closer to him and looking into her eyes. “Kid, calm down, you’re having a panic attack, breathe with me, okay?” Mal knew she had to listen or she would pass out so she followed Hades lead. When she got control of her breath again, she pushed him away, wiping away the tears that had gathered in her eyes “she never told you?”
“I guess fucking not” Mal assumed he meant her mother never telling her about her true father “and-also HOW?!” Hades just gave her a knowing look “NOT LIKE THAT-“ Mal did NOT want to think about her mother and Hades doing the do “-I mean-how did” Mal gestured to herself then Hades “this! Happen?? I thought you were loyal to Persephone!?” “Mom knows about this by the way” Hadie interrupted, motioning between his father and sister “and she’s pissed the fuck off, so whenever you see her again dad, you have millennia of making up to do” Hades winced at the thought of his wife being very mad at him, but it wasn’t unwarranted, but he had another matter to attend to.
Hades sighed and turned back to Mal, rubbing his stubble “I got drunk, very drunk, I don’t remember much but I woke up next to your mother and eleven months later you were dropped off for me to babysit” Mal’s jaw dropped in shock and slight disgust “I didn’t know about you until you were already two months old, and then I took care of you for about three months before your mother took you back, something about an heir of darkness.” Hades waved off the notion of Maleficent abandoning Mal on his doorstep and continued on as Mal gawked at him. “and before you ask-I do know I am really your dad because your hair was blueish-purple when she dropped you off and it was almost completely blue when she took you away, I think your magic reacted to whomever you were around the most-“ Mal shook her head, she didn’t have time for this!
“Okay, whatever, I don’t care. I don’t have time for all this” Mal waved her hands around in frustration(noticeably in the same way Hades did but no one commented on it) and held out her hand again “but! If you wanna make up for being a lousy dad” Hades frowned at that “gimme the ember” he stared down at her for a moment before gently placing the ember into Mal's palm, Mal closing her hand around it and nodding “thank you, it’ll be returned after we save Auradon”
“It won’t work for you completely, you are still only half Hades” Hades warned as Mal pocketed the ember into her thigh bag, raising his brow as she glared up at him. “So what? I’m not the one using it, dad” Mal hissed the last word, as if it was poison in her mouth. She didn’t fully believe him, after all, if her mother had lied to her for years about her father, who's to say he wasn’t lying to her now?
Mal pushed past him and up the steps, Celia quickly following her as Hadie set down his bass and looked back at his dad.
“Did she really never tell her?” Hades asked  quietly, looking up at the stairs after Mal, an upset look on his face. “all this time, almost 19 years of standing by, she didn’t even know?”
Hadie sighed and crossed his arms “You really think Maleficent would have told Mal about her true parentage? If Mal had known you were her dad, she would have never listened to Maleficent, she manipulated Mal…I have to go, kingdom to save n all” Hades nodded, watching his son walk out after his daughter and sighing. So much for respecting Mal’s wishes.
-
Celia looked up at Mal, pressing her lips together as the awkward silence pierced the air. “I guess that’s why he was always asking about you” Celia murmured, stopping in front of the front gate as Mal paused, looking directly at the ground.
Mal then shook her head, lifting it up to stare straight ahead “let's go, we’re wasting time” Mal continued forward towards the main area of the isle again, Hadie and Celia giving each other a look before following after her. Mal was right, there were more important things to get to than her parentage.

Ben was back at his desk, talking on his phone with one of the captains of the royal guard “No. no, I want the royal guard handing out gas masks!” Ben said in a stressed tone, tapping through his tablet as more reports of the sleeping spell came through. Ben growled a bit as the captain on the other side muttered something about the spell “Well not everyone's asleep!” Ben hung up and tossed his phone on his desk, looking up and pointing at the servant standing at his door “Find out if anyone has seen Audrey, and see if she has a list of demands!” the servant nodded and turned out the door.
Ben sighed and unzipped his jacket, flopping back on his chair and running his hand through his hair as he tried to calm down. Why had this happened? What had happened with Audrey that caused Maleficent to possess her?
Mal had texted him earlier that the spell used the victim's emotions against them, so whoever had taken the scepter was feeling very intense emotions, enough for her mother to feed on that. So what had Audrey been feeling when Maleficent took control?
Ben had a sinking feeling it had to do with one very bitter grandmother.
“just one~” Ben yelped and stood from his chair as he spun around, eyes widening as he locked into Audrey’s eyes, which were swimming with green. “I demand my life back”
Ben looked behind him at his door, mentally cursing as all his guards had left to go help the people. “I have a proposition for you~” he turned back to Audrey and watched as he pointed behind her towards the rest of the kingdom “I’ll wake everybody up right now, under one, itty bitty condition” she stepped closer to him, her eyes flashing green. “make me queen”
‘queen?’ Ben thought confused, why would Audrey want to be queen? Why would Maleficent want to be queen? Then Ben remembered when he overheard one of Leah’s bullshit rants about Audrey’s right to the crown. Audrey was just doing exactly what her grandmother wanted, just in a twisted way…that’s why Leah had been turned to stone that morning.
And Maleficent was just going along with Audrey’s ‘desires’ so she wouldn’t be detected by the young princess, she was waiting for the opportune moment to take over completely. “Audrey” Ben started softly, taking her hand and bringing it towards him. Audrey looked confused, her eyes flickering with magenta and green. “someone spelled you, you have to let me help you-“Audrey's eyes turned fully green and she ripped away from Ben, and Ben knew Maleficent was in control now.
“Pathetic” Audrey hissed in a cold tone, her face morphing into a sneer as the scepter glowed bright green in her hand “so kind, so trusting, you won't even strike your precious little friend down just when you had the chance” Ben glared at Maleficent, hand drawing behind him to the hidden dagger that (y/n) had stashed a couple of months ago. “just like your mother…” Audrey’s eyes turned bright green and then she grinned cruelly “but so afraid of being like your father~” Ben froze in fear, realizing what she was talking about. No, she wouldn’t “let's see how you like being a beast~” Ben raced forward in an attempt to snatch the scepter from Audrey but he was blown back as it flashed green and his body was overtaken in a green flash.
Ben screamed out in pain, but It only came out as a monstrous roar, his teeth becoming fangs as his nails pushed out and sharpened, fur erupting from his entire body and everything just became so loud.
He let out another painful roar, Audrey cackling in the background as the scepter flashed magenta and Ben swore he heard someone screaming then everything went silent.
Ben blacked out from the pain and when he woke up a few moments later, Audrey was gone, the only thing left was a few wisps of smoke. Ben crawled over to his balcony and looked down, a whimper slipping through his new snout as he saw many of the servants now turned to stone. Ben turned on his heels and ran through the castle, looking for anybody who could help him, his claws ripped and scratched at the walls as he raced through them, he ended up at the hall of armor and ripped open the doors, claws digging into the frame and Ben ended up with a large splinter in his palm.
He roared in pain again and ran out the other side of the hall, crashing through the doors and running into the forest, he couldn’t let anybody see him like this, he had to find a way to turn back into a human before he hurt someone.

Mal, Hadie, and Celia walked back into the arcade, Celia racing towards her dad as Mal walked over to her friends who were playing some odd combo of foosball and pool. “M!” Evie called, relieved her friend was okay as Mal trotted over to her and wrapped her arms around Evie’s arm. Evie grabbed Mal’s shoulder with her free hand and looked at her “do you have it?” Mal nodded and dug into her thigh bag, taking out the black as coal ember. “Good, let's get off this rock”
Mal nodded, turning to jay to ask him where the bikes were but he interrupted her “how’d you get it? I assume he either gave to Hadie or you snatched it?” Mal winced at the reminder of how she had gotten the ember.
Welp, no better time to tell them then now, eh? “uh, yeah about that” Mal muttered, looking down at the ember in her hand “uh, he just-gave it to me?” it sounded more like a question than anything else. Mal was unsure if Hades really was her dad, but she would spill details about the entire thing later, right now the short and sweet answer was best.
“He just” Carlos started, furrowing his brows in confusion and glancing to Hadie “gave it to you? And not Hadie?”
“Yeah well, there's a reason behind it which is-guess whomst the fuckiest my dad is?” Mal laughed, giving her friends a tilted smile as they looked at her strangely, why bring up her dad at a time like this?
“Oh no fucking way” it hit Carlos first, his eyes widening “no fucking way but you said-“ Mal laughed again, sounding strangled.
“I know! I know! I thought so too! But I guess it's just another thing my mother lied to me about” Jay looked a little miffed at not understanding what Carlos and Mal were talking about, Evie looking lost as well “Remember how I said my dad was human? For the last 19 fucking years?” Jay and Evie nodded, (y/n) cleaning up the table behind them before freezing as realization dawned on her.
“Oh, no fucking way” (y/n) groaned, looking to Mal with an exasperated look “your dad is-that means-what the actual fuck” Evie finally had enough and turned to Mal with her brow raised.
“Okay spill before I stab you”
“Apparently, my dad is fucking Hades” Mal hissed quietly, leaning closer to Jay and Evie as their eyes went wide in shock “Yep, my mother lied, again, about my dad. Told me he was human to keep me in check and shit.”
“I-“ Jay stuttered, unable to get anything out as his mouth opened and closed. “are you sure?” At this Mal shook her head, no she wasn’t sure, but this was helping them in their favor, Hades had given Mal the ember willingly under the pretense she was his kid.
“no im not, and I don’t want to know how or why, but we can do all this processing shit later when Auradon or Audrey aren’t in danger, let’s go. You got our bikes back, right?” Mal asked the boys, wincing as (y/n) glared darkly. She would take that as a no then.
“Nope, they got away” Carlos muttered, crossing his arms.
“The only way back to Auradon is the bridge” Mal sighed, smiling as Evie clicked her heels on the dusty arcade floor.
“Glad I wore my comfortable heels then” Jay grabbed Evie's arm before the two could leave.
“Yeah, we need the remote, and I left it at the house” Mal and Evie shared a horrified look, what were they going to do? Auradon was in danger and they were stuck on the isle with no way off.
“I lifted it off of you” the group turned to Celia, who was holding the golden remote to the barrier “I thought it would be useful and it is” Evie smiled, stepping towards Celia and leaning on a support beam.
“Good job” Celia smiled and Jay took the remote, pressing his lips together in an impressed smirk.
“Sweet” Celia turned to hug her father one last time as everyone grabbed their bags and started to make their way out of the arcade, she kissed him on the cheek and ran after (y/n), meeting (y/n)’s stride as she patted Celia’s back.
“Good job kid” Celia beamed again, happy her thieving skills were being appreciated. “also Mal!” Mal turned her head to show she was listening “After this shit is over, we're coming back here and getting those damn bikes back, that thing is too damn expensive to lose to a fucking isle goon” Mal snorted and nodded.
“Noted” honestly Mal wanted her bike back anyway, Carlos had spent several months making and modifying their bikes to fit them perfectly, she wasn’t about to let them be stripped.
-
The group of vks, and one dimension traveling girl, finally arrived at the bridge, Jay taking out the remote and pressing the bottom button opening the barrier. “Come on” Mal mumbled, nodding her head towards the opening. The others followed her lead and stepped over the barrier line.
Just as the ember crossed over the line, it ignited in a strong flash of light and heat, Mal felt fire shoot up her hand holding the ember and cover her entire body. Mal gasped in slight pain as the flash of energy flooded through her and filled her with a brand-new feeling of power and magic she had never felt before.
Mal let out the shuddering breath she had been holding and shook her head, the fire that had been drained by Audrey had been returned at full force…but it felt…different from her normal fire. Mal opened her eyes and looked down at her hands, gasping as she realized her entire outfit had changed. Gone were the purples and greens of her maleficent-themed outfit, replaced by the cool blues and dark greys of Hades, blue flames licking up her jacket-turned-vest and boots.
…guess Hades wasn’t lying then, Mal frowned, looking at herself a bit more as she realized she had transformed into ‘the daughter of Hades’. She had no other explanation for why the ember had done what it did otherwise.
“Holy shit” Carlos muttered, grabbing Mal's arm to stabilize her as she wobbled on her feet slightly “What happened?”
“I don’t know” Mal muttered slightly grumpy as she twisted the ember in her eyes, it had ignited in a strong blue “It might have to do something with the ‘Hades being my dad’ thing? Hadie?” Mal looked to Hadie, frowning as he looked just as confused as she felt. “shit, okay, um-ya know what? We’re gonna ignore this for now and figure out what the fuck happened when all this shit is over with okay? Okay.” Evie picked up a lock of Mal's hair, bringing it in front of Mal's face “Evie-my hairs blue….my hair is fucking blue it was brown two seconds ago and now it's blue”
“To be fair your hair was purple three hours ago, and it's also purple at the top.” Jay supplied, pulling back a bit as Mal whirled around to glare at him. “uh-yellow eyes too” Mal scrunched her nose at Jay and huffed.
“Not helping Jay” Mal hissed, she turned back towards Auradon and closed her eyes “Okay, we-let’s just go, we’re wasting-HEY!” just as Mal was handing the ember to Hadie, Evie lifted her arm to push a lock of hair behind her ear and bumped Mal's hand, sending the ember flying. “no!” Mal screamed in panic, running towards the edge and about to jump for the ember when a very familiar tentacle sprung from the eater and grabbed the ember “wha-“
Uma rose from the water, looking absolutely ethereal in her golden shell crown and teal dress, her turquoise locs pulled back halfway as the rest framed her shoulders. Uma grinned and raised her arms, the tentacle holding the ember following them “drop something~?”
“It can't get wet!” Mal yelled in a pleading tone, gesturing for Uma to get onto the bridge “give it back before it goes out!” Mal could see the ember sparking and flickering in Uma’s hold. Uma just laughed and her tentacle curled around the ember, sealing it airtight between two suckers. her eyes turned to you, who was grinning down at her from the bridge.
“Uma~!” you yelled in excitement, bouncing on your heels as she gave you a little wave.
“That’s my name~” she purred, giving one last smirk to Mal then she sunk into the water, the ember still tight in her grip.
“Wait!” Mal called desperately, she couldn’t lose the ember, it was their only hope! Mal took a step back in fear as from where Uma had sunk a large tunnel of water began to rise until it burst, soaking everyone but you.
“Ah!” Mal yelled, pausing as she noticed the water starting to evaporate almost immediately, off her body, especially her hair. “I wha-“ nope, nope nope nope, not important right now. She noticed the same was happening to Hadie, and the two were the first dry out of everyone else.
Mal looked back down at the water, searching for Uma “Behind you~” Mal gasped and spun around, seeing Uma in a dark teal button-up, dark blue leather pants, and brown boots, her golden shell necklace sitting proudly on her neck.
Before anyone else could say anything, Mal spoke up, lifting her arms into the air in exasperation “Where the hell have you been?!”
Uma looked genuinely surprised that those were the words that had come out of Mal’s mouth instead of just accusing her of villainy and trying to steal the ember back “We’ve been looking for you for three fucking years!! Do you know how much Harry and Gil bugged Ben and I because you wouldn’t show your damn face?!” Mal screeched, rubbing her face in exhaustion at the reminder of when Harry and Gil had straight up annoyed her and Ben back when the search for Uma was fresh. “Do you even know you were pardoned two years ago? You could've surfaced at any point and you would have been fine!!”
“That’s what I said to-….her” you covered your mouth as Mal slowly turned to look at you with wide eyes, Uma face palming as you winced “uh-“
“…(y/n) did you harbor a criminal?” Mal asked dryly, raising her brow as you shrugged.
“Technically no, I just, brought her food n all that…I honestly have no idea where she stayed, but we had a meeting place?” Mal sighed and shook her head, turning to look back at Uma who stiffened up in a defensive stance. “Also, Ex-criminal” you stated, shrugging as Mal just gave you an exasperated look “jus’ sayin”
“Whatever, Uma, I need that” Mal held her hand out towards Uma, looking at the ember in the sea-witches hand. “to break a spell”
“Cast by maleficent, proxied by Audrey, sleeping beauty’s daughter” Carlos explained, eyes locked onto the ember in Uma’s hand.
“So-the good guys the bad guy-“ Uma furrowed her brows as she tried to figure out how Maleficent cast the spell through Audrey. “well, I might not give it back, see what happens” your smile dropped and you stepped closer to Uma, taking her shoulder.
“Uma no, Harry and Gil are still in Auradon and we need the ember to save them if anything has happened to them, neither of them answered my calls and I don’t want to risk anything” Uma just pursed her lips, looking between you and the pleading Mal, who looked more worried as time went on.
“Guarantee me, that any single villain kid that wants to, can get off the isle” Mal pressed her lips together at Uma’s demand, wanting to agree but the deal she had made with Beast prodded the back of her mind.
“I-I can’t do that” Mal stuttered, clenching her hands by her sides, watching the ember carefully as Uma rolled her eyes and walked to the edge of the bridge. “Can't do that” Uma muttered, turning and holding the ember over the water “Well how bout now?!”
“Deal!” Mal screamed desperately, not bothering to hide the panic on her face as she held her hands out towards Uma “Deal, deal! I promise every kid will come off, but please!...Please.” Uma looked at Mal carefully, looking for any deception before she relented.
“Fine” Uma muttered, sliding the ember into her jacket “but I’m keeping it, because if you think I trust you to save Auradon on your own” she laughed a bit, giving Mal a once over “Think again” Mal closed her eyes and sighed, at least the ember would be on their side.
“Okay fine, this is fine, we need to go now though, Jay!” he nodded and pressed the bridge button, the magic extending from the broken bits they were standing on towards Auradon. “let’s go, we have no time to lose!” Mal jogged forward, Evie, Jay, Carlos, Celia, and Hadie following close behind, leaving you with Uma.
“When we find the boys, I’m blaming the entire ‘hiding you for 3 years and never telling them’ thing on you, since it was your idea and I would like to stay in Harry’s good graces” you joked, booping Uma’s nose and grabbing her hand to drag her along to follow the others down the bridge.
Uma rolled her eyes and hurried her pace, realizing that things were a lot more serious than she had thought, Mal hadn't even tried to start an argument, only focused on saving Auradon.

March 15, 2021: Clash of the Titans (1981) (Part One)
This one’s personal…sort of.
Tumblr media
Other than the fact that this is based on Greek mythology (previously well-established as one of my favorite subjects), this movie is, in a way, responsible for my existence. And that is because, according to legend, this is the film that my parents went to on their first date. And apparently, it went very well, because I came into being 10 years afterwards. So, yeah, this film is personal, like Dirty Dancing.
And also like Dirty Dancing, I HAVEN’T SEEN IT? I don’t know HOW I escaped seeing this movie. And that’s especially considering that I’ve seen the new one. And that movie was...not great.
Tumblr media
Maybe not the worst film I’ve ever seen, but it’s definitely not a good movie. But OK, what’s this one about, exactly? Y’all ready for “The 365 Greek Mythology Hour” again? OK, then, here we go. SING IT LADIES
Tumblr media
Clash of the Titans concerns the myth of Perseus, one of the greatest Greek heroes ever. Before Heracles, there was Perseus, son of Zeus. Yeah, Zeus, as he is wont to do, came down to Earth and had some good time with the princess of Argos, the beautiful Danaë. He came upon her while she was locked in a box by her dad, Acrisus, king of Argos.
Yeah, the Oracle at Delphi, ever the wisest, was visited by Acrisus one day, who wanted a son instead of a daughter. The Oracle spoke with Apollo (AKA huffed some of that SWEET SWEET ETHYLENE GAS), and told him that his daughter’s son would kill him. And so, he did the most logical thing: he locked her in a box. Yup. Dick. SPEAKING of dick, Zeus appeared to her in the open box as a golden shower. NOT THAT KIND OF GOLDEN SHOWER. I mean a literal shower of gold. Although...I wouldn’t put it past Zeus, of all gods. Dude was kinky.
Tumblr media
So, Perseus is conceived, and Acrisus responds to this with his usual tact; he stuffs Danaë into a SMALLER box, and shoves it out to sea. She gives birth to a boy in the box, and the two eventually wash up on the shore of an island, where a fisherman finds them and takes them in. The boy is named Perseus.
Years go by, and Perseus’ mom is sought by his adoptive dad’s brother, and the king of the island, Polydectes. Polydectes is kind of a dick, and Perseus, now an adult man, doesn’t like him. The feeling’s mutual, and Polydectes has a plan. He holds a banquet, and forces all invited to bring a gift of horses. Perseus, being pretty poor, cannot bring this gift, but promises on his honor to bring whatever Polydectes wants of him, no matter what. And Polydectes asks for the head of Medusa.
Fuck.
Tumblr media
Medusa’s one of your classic Greek monsters, a Gorgon. She’s one of Athena’s victims, formerly a vain temple priestess who was, well...raped by Poseidon, let’s be honest. However, since Athena’s priestesses were meant to be celibate, she was the one who ended up being punished. Fuckin’ YIKES. But OK, literal ancient gender politics aside, Athena cursed her with snakes for hair, and the ability to turn her victims into stone with a gaze into her eyes. Classic. And sure death for anyone who went after her.
So, Perseus is fucked. He’s gotta kill Medusa, and he doesn’t even have a way to get to her place. And that’s when he gets a favor from none other than Athena, goddess of wisdom and wartime strategy, as well as Perseus’ half-sister. I love Athena (other than the Medusa bullshit, obviously), and this is one of her most prominent roles in mythology. Well, that and the creation of spiders. That was also punishing a woman for her vanity, by the way. She has a type.
Tumblr media
First, Perseus was told to find the Hesperides, nymphs of the dusk and dawn who would give him weapons. He got their location from the Greae, more colloquially known as the Gray Sisters. Weirdly enough, you may know them from Hercules, where they were combined with the Fates. They don’t have the future gimmick, but they do have that whole “sharing an eye” thing. Also, they share a tooth. Neat.
Anyway, Perseus takes their eye hostage, which makes them tell him where the Hesperides are. He goes to them, and they give him a bag to hold Meduga’s head. Then, the gods step in. Zeus decides to be a good dad for a change, and gives him an indestructible sword, and Hades’ Helmet of Invisibility. Hermes, another of Perseus’ half-brothers, gives him a pair of winged sandals to fly with. And Athena, technically Perseus’ patron, gives him a mirrored shield.
Perseus heads to the cave of Medusa, uses the shield, then goes up to her and cuts off her head. From her neck, for some goddamn reason, and golden sword pops out, alongside this guy.
Tumblr media
Yeah, he’s not made out of clouds. He’s actually the, uh...he’s the result of Poseidon’s crime against Medusa. Fucked up, innit? Pegasus flies up to hang out with Bellerophon to kill the Chimera, and Perseus heads back to...actually, he goes to ANOTHER king who was a dick to him, and turns him into stone with Medusa’s head. Kings hate Perseus, seriously.
Perseus heads home after that, and goes through Ethiopia. There, he meets the King and Queen, Cepheus and Cassiopeia. Cassie’s gorgeous, but she tells Perseus that her daughter Andromeda is, like, WAY hotter, as beautiful as the sea goddesses. Which PISSES OFF POSEIDON (who is basically the villain of Perseus’ story, let’s be honest), and he send a sea monster named Cetus to destroy the kingdom, UNLESS they sacrifice Andromeda to it. And, because kings are assholes in this story, they do, chaining Andromeda to a rock. But, because Perseus believes that all women are queens, he goes to rescue her, and kills Cetus using all of his things. He weds Andromeda, and turns his romantic rival Phineus into stone using Medusa’s head.
Tumblr media
Usually, that’s where retellings end, because there’s a recurring trend to Perseus’ story after that. A king is an asshole, Perseus whips out the head, asshole becomes statue of an asshole. However, there is that prophecy to contend with, about Perseus killing his grandfather. See, Acrisus basically retired by this point, and lived in the kingdom of Thessaly. But one day, he went to see some games, in which Perseus was competing in the discus. Well, wouldn’t you know it, Perseus isn’t great at it, and loses control of the discus, which hits Acrisus, killing him instantly.
Utimate frisbee, man. It’s dangerous.
Tumblr media
There’s another version where Perseus uses Medusa’s head to turn his dad into stone, surprise surfuckingprise there. But yeah, after that the story varies. Sometimes he becomes a king, sometimes he doesn’t. He basically always marries Andromeda and has kids with her. Sometimes he founds a city of his own, sometime he doesn’t. And in one ending, where he’s lived to be an old king, he fulfills his ultimate destiny and turns Medusa’s head on himself. Geez.
So, yeah, there you go. That’s the story of Perseus. Let’s, uh...let’s see what the movie does, huh? This is another Ray Harryhausen joint, so I’m...tentatively excited for it. We’ll see how badly they mess up the myth, and whether or not it works despite that. So, ENOUGH of me lecturing you guys, huh?
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Recap (1/2)
Tumblr media
We begin approximately where most iterations do: King Acrisius (Donald Houston) has just cast his daughter Danae (Vida Taylor) and grandson Perseus into the ocean, containing them within a wooden chest in order to “forgive his daughter’s crimes”. Yeah, sure, OK, buddy. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
This also pisses off Zeus (Laurence Mother Fucking Olivier), who consorts with the rest of the Olympians on what to do to Acrisus. Said Olympians include Hera (Claire Bloom), goddess of marriage and women; Thetis (Maggie Mother Fucking Smith), goddess of the sea and leader of the Nereids; Athena (Susan Fleetwood), goddess of wisdom and strategic victory; Aphrodite (Ursula Andress), goddess of love; and Poseidon (Jack Gwillim), god of the sea.
Tumblr media
Hera tries to defend Acrisus, noting his prior years of devotion to Zeus and the other gods. But Zeus ain’t HAVING that shit, and tells Poseidon to destroy the city of Argos in revenge. This is to be done by...releasing the last of the Titans? Which is apparently the Kraken. I mean...no, a thousand times no, but whatever.
This little tantrum is Zeus’ way of showing his love towards Danae, whose child Perseus is his. This is helpfully pointed out by Thetis, who seems...a little spiteful, as much as Hera is about Perseus. Seems like she’s stoking some fires. Hmm. She is Queen of the Nerieds, so she may play a larger role later on.
Beneath the sea, Poseidon readies himself to set loose the Kraken and destroy Argos, at Zeus’ command. Zeus, meanwhile, kills Acrisus by using a clay voodoo doll of sorts to strike him down. And that’s when Poseidon lets loose the Kraken for the first time. And the Kraken...
Tumblr media
Guys, the Kraken looks...actually, I’ll spoil his appearance later on. The Kraken destroys the city, and Zeus kills Acrisius. So much for the goddamn prophecy that explains why Acrisius did what he did, but fuck me, I guess. Danae and Perseus, meanwhile, have safely arrived on the shores of the island of Seriphus, at Zeus’ insistence. There, Perseus grows from child into a fine young man, with Zeus always watching over him...and with Thetis and company always watching over Zeus. Interesting.
The adult Perseus (Harry Hamlin) lives happily on the island, much to Perseus’ delight. Thetis, on the other hand, asks about her mortal son, a young man named Calibos (Neil McCarthy). Apparently, Calibos is a bit of a monster, and while he’d been set to wed the princess Andromeda, he’s also managed to kil all living things on the island that he’s been given, save for a single winged horse named Pegasus. Hence...he is to be punished.
Tumblr media
Calibos, by the way? Entirely original creation of the film, and there’s nobody like him in Greek mythology. Anyway, Thetis is crushed by this, and decides to exact revenge of both Perseus and her son’s would-be fiancee, Andromeda. She pledges to open up Perseus’ eyes to grim reality, and does so by placing him in the kingdom of Joppa, where Calibos was originally set to rule alongside Andromeda.
Here, in an amphitheatre, he encounters a mysterious masked and robed figure, who quickly reveals themselves to be Ammon (Burgess Meredith), a poet and playwright. Apparently, Ammon wears his disguise to scare off trespassers. He tells Perseus that all of Joppa is in a tizzy about a curse of some kind, and that the story of the fallen kingdom of Argos is a famous legend.
Tumblr media
Ammon tells Perseus to go back home to Seriphus, but Perseus tells Ammon that he’s promised to restore his mother’s old kingdom, and decides that Joppa would be a good start. Despite his drive, though, Zeus is pissed off at Thetis for plopping Perseus down unprepared. He tells the other goddesses to give him gifts to help him claim the kingdom of Joppa as his own. This includes a helmet from Athena, a sword from Aphrodite, and a shield from Hera. I mean...OK, that’s super goddamn weird, but OK.
After Zeus leaves, the goddesses rightfully complain about Zeus’ constant womanizing, but note that he probably doesn’t remember Danae at this point, is is most likely acting out of stubborn pride for his “handsome son”. Their words, not mine.
Tumblr media
In Joppa, Perseus finds the gifts by the statues of their grantors. The sword from Aphrodite is adamantine, like the original myth, and slices through marble without a blemish. The shield from Hera...talks. Yeah. The shield bears the visage of Zeus, who tells him that the weapons are gifts from the gods, and that the helmet from Athena turns the wearer invisible. I mean, fuck Hades, I guess, but OK. Technically Athena did give the helmet to Perseus, so OK.
Armed with his new gear, an invisible Perseus immediately takes off to see Joppa, sans his sword. We only see his footsteps in the sand as he leaves, which is legitimately a VERY neat effect, and I’m not sure how they did it, but it’s neat as hell. Off to Joppa, a vaguely Phoenician/Persian kingdom, despite the fact that the original Joppa, or Jaffa, is a port city in Israel.
Tumblr media
There, he meets a soldier, Thallo (Tim Pigott-Smith), who tells him of the situation. Since Calibos fell to Zeus’ wrath, Andromeda rejected him, allowing any suitor to try for her hand, whether they be royal or not. To do so, they must answer a riddle. If they fail to answer, the would-be suitor is burned to death. This is lorded over by Queen Cassiopeia (Sian Phillips), while Andromeda (Judi Bowker) lives in the tower of the palace.
Which is why Perseus IMEDIATELY uses the helmet to go into her room that night! CLASSY, PERSEUS. There, he sees...a giant vulture bring a cage to Andromeda’s balcony. No idea where in the fuck this is going, but that’s a damn good looking vulture. God, I love Harryhausen.
Tumblr media
Anyway, the vulture is here for Andromeda’s soul, which leaves her body and goes to sit in the cage. The vulture takes off with it, al as the invisible Perseus watches on. He takes this opportunity to touch Andromeda’s face in her sleep (stop, Perseus, for the love of Zeus), then decides that winning Andromeda is his destiny. And so, his simpin’ journey begins.
The next day, Perseus asks Ammon how they can follow the vulture, who has apparently headed to the marshes to the “marsh lord”. To follow the vulture, Ammon suggests that they find and capture the last of the winged horses, known as Pegasus. And we’ve officially lost the track of Greek mythology at this point. Shit.
Tumblr media
Well, with Ammon’s help, Perseus captures Pegasus and rides him through the skies. Meanwhile, in Corinth, some dude named Bellerophon is just having a stroke, I guess, because he’s totally fucked now. Whatever. The next day, the vulture comes back to Andromeda’s place and takes her soul to the marsh. But this time, Perseus and Pegasus follow them.
In the marsh, the marsh-lord and riddle-maker is revealed as Calibos, who is still in love with the beautiful Andromeda. As she cannot love him, he provides to her another riddle to give her would-be suitors. In tears, she memorizes the riddle and its answer, Calibos touches her uncomfortably, even as Andromeda asks him to lift his curse and show pity. But he refuses, in pain from his love. Jesus, this movie should be called Clash of the Simps, goddamn.
Tumblr media
Perseus was watching the whole thing, though, which Calibos immediately figures out when he sees Perseus’ footsteps in the dirt. As Perseus goes through the swamp looking for Pegasus, he’s found and attacked by Calibos. Calibos, by the way, is a guy in pretty solid makeup in close-up shots, and a Harryhausen model in far-away shots.
Tumblr media
The two struggle, the helmet is lost in the swamp, and Perseus draws his sword. But we suddenly cut away to see the daily ritual of the presentation for Andromeda’s would-be suitors. Perseus steps in, having survived the attack from last night, and offers his hand to Andromeda, who recognizes Perseus from a dream. She gives the riddle, which is ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT. Here, I’ll prove it.
In my mind’s eye, I see three circles joined in priceless harmony. Two, full as the moon; one, hollow as a crown. Two from the sea, five fathoms down. One from the Earth, deep under the ground. What is it?
Any guesses? Anybody?
Tumblr media
NO MATTER WHAT YOU FAIL. Because the answer is Calibos’ ring! HOW IN THE SHIT WOULD ANYBODY HAVE GUESSED THAT? It’s a golden ring with two pearls on it! WHO KNOWS THAT SHIT? I call complete bullshit, and the only reason that Perseus knows it is because he spied on this last night! Also, because he cut off Calibos’ hand, and made him renounce his curse, which is...never really specified, now that I think about it.
With that, Perseus has both Andromeda’s and Calibos’ hands! HA! Calibos is not as amused, as he preys to his other Thetis, at a temple of hers. He demands that Thetis take revenge on those whom Perseus loves, specifically Andromeda and the city of Joppa itself. He demands justice, but Thetis identifies this correctly as revenge. All the while, Perseus declares his love for Andromeda, and they seal their union with a kiss and ritual.
Tumblr media
During this ritual, in which Andromeda and Perseus are essentially married, Queen Cassiopeia, LIKE A DUMBASS, says that Andromeda is more beautiful than the goddess Thetis herself. Yeah. BAD FUCKING MOVE, especially because she said that IN FRONT OF THETIS’ FUCKING SANCTUARY. At least that dumbass move was kept from the original story.
Well, Thetis tells Cassie that she can only atone for her stupidity in one way: sacrifice your daughter to the Kraken in 30 days. Later on, Perseus speaks with Ammon to figure out how they can defeat the Kraken. Ammon suggests speaking with the “Stygian Witches”, who I’m assuming are our Grey Sisters for the night. However, according to Thallo, they have a taste for human flesh. Still, Perseus is going, as are Ammon, Thallo, and Andromeda. But not Pegasus.
Tumblr media
Well...shit, man. That changes a few things, huh? But that’ll be addressed...IN PART TWO! See you there!

can we get a blurb of h and persephone on a night they reunite on earth when he’s visiting her 🥺🤲🏼
yeah🥺 we can🥺
...
Persephone is already on her second drink when she finally sees him.  He’s standing by the entrance to the hotel bar, dressed in an ostentatious suit.  His hair is a bit longer since she last saw him, having been three months, but the recognizes the familiar curl of it.  She’s missed playing with it as he falls asleep.
When Hades spots her sitting at the bar, he grins.  But she doesn’t return it.
“You’re late.” She says, her eyes on her glass as he approaches her. “We said 5pm.  Sharp.”
“I know, Petal.  But I had to take care of some business.” He doesn’t sit down, but instead waits for her to acknowledge him. “I’m sorry.  Please forgive me.”
Persephone finally looks up, and seeing his green eyes so close to her takes her breath away.  Her heart pounds, and she knows she can’t pretend to be angry at him.
“Forgiven.” She whispers with a quick nod of her head.
Patrons of the bar notice the couple together.  While their clothing may be modern, the air about them seems timeless.  The way the man waits for her acknowledgement to sit, the way the woman shifts, as if his closeness changes her presence of body, the way the man lifts her hand to his mouth to kiss it--all of it is noticed by those occupying the bar with them.
Although the purpose of meetings like this is to blend in, Persephone and Hades can’t help but stand out.
“Y/N.” He inhales deeply as he lowers her hand, a small smile on her face. “You still smell like pomegranates.”
“Mother banned them from our home.  So I have Hermes smuggle them in for me.” Y/N grins sheepishly. “It drives her crazy, but...I know you like them, Harry.”
“I do.  They drive me crazy as well.  But for a different reason.” Harry reaches out, brushing some loose hair back behind her ear. “I’ve missed you.”
“I missed you too.” Y/N leans into his touch. “Your hair is longer.”
“Mmm.  Been thinking about growing it out.” Harry motions to the bartender for a drink. “I know you like it when it’s long.”
“I do.”
The small talk, of course, is purely for appearances.  If it was up to Harry, he’d already have her in the suite he booked, undressed and in bed, with his head between her thighs.  But Y/N says that makes her feel like she’s the other woman, and she likes people watching.  And Harry likes giving her what she wants.  So they sit at the bar for a half hour, talking absentmindedly, updating each other on their lives.
Secretly, Harry likes this part of their rendezvous.  His Persephone is shy, but after being away from him for so long, she makes her needs clear in her body language.  Harry adores watching her eyes flicker between his own and his lips.  He enjoys the way her hand will rub up and down his arm, tracing over his tattoos absentmindedly.  He sees how her pupils dilate, how her breathing shifts, how she leans closer, how she licks her lips, and revels in the knowledge that all of it is because of how much she needs him.  As he needs her.
Sometimes, they’ll get dinner first, if Harry feels like dragging that need out.  They consider the courting part of their foreplay.  But on nights like tonight, neither of them can wait.
“I think our room is ready.” Y/N’s hand shifts from Harry’s arm to his thigh. “Shall we go see it?”
Harry nods.  He gets down from his seat first before extending a hand to her, helping her hop off her stool gracefully.
“I already had them send up some scotch for you.” She leans in closer to his ear. “And I smuggled some nectar and ambrosia down from Olympus.”
Harry inhales deeply, leaning down to kiss her. “You’re a wonderful little thing.”
Y/N holds up a finger to his lips, stopping him. “Don’t start that in here.  Once you do, I won’t be able to stop.  Save it for the room.”
Harry grins, taking her hand. “Gladly.”

Being a part of the Core VK's, and daughter to Hades
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Relationships with the Core Four:
You and Mal are half sisters - same dad, different moms. Mal hated you for a long time, even when she had yet to meet you, she knew of you and that made her blood absolutely boil. You were the daughter Hades raised, while he just left her and her mother. You both eventually get along, and once you do, you're inseparable, as thick as thieves, partners in crime, the works.
Evie thinks you're cool. She doesn't have a problem with you- then again I don't think she has a problem with anyone really. She likes your style, she wouldn't wear it, but she likes it because you work it and make it look good. She gets to know you more when you and Mal start hanging out and she kinda becomes like your sister as well.
Jay thinks you're awesome. He witnessed your hair burst into flames one day when someone pissed you off, trying to steal something your rightfully *coughcough* found. Definitely asked you about your powers and wondered why you could still use magic. It was kinda hard to explain, but basically on the island you can only do a few things - all of which require direct contact. Lounging/parkour buddy.
Okay, but please tell me why the thought of harmless, got bullied a lot, soft boy Carlos/intimidating, protective Daughter of Hades, just makes me melt. Like, you save his ass a lot. You knew Carlos before you knew the rest of the core four - back when it was Mal and Jay, Evie did her own thing, and Carlos was just kinda left to fend for himself. It's okay though, you'll protect him.
Background:
No one knows who your mother is
Not you
Not Mal
Not even Maleficent
Hades doesn't like to talk about her
She died before you had the ability to retain memories
She wasn't the first or the last of the people that were claimed by the terrible conditions of the Island of the Lost.
Medical care wasn't exactly top notch, and no one really cared about the ones who passed the first few years.
Just ment more supplies for the rest of them
You weren't allowed to wander the isle as a child, he kept you locked away - worried Maleficent might try something (and worried that if anyone found out about you being his daughter, they would have something over his head).
It was thanks to Hades tucking you away, that Maleficent was never able to find you.
You started sneaking out when you turned 10
You proved you could handle yourself, so Hades let you run free.
Besides 10 years had passed since you were born and he figured maybe Maleficent didn't care about you anymore.
It took you and Mal a while to trust eachother.
When you trusted her enough, you told her about your dad.
She didn't say anything and just left you - she was so angry and conflicted, on one hand she wanted to hate you because you were the child Hades' stuck around for, the one he raised, and fathered, and protected from Maleficent.
After a few weeks she found you in your own little corner if the island you carved for yourself, and explained everything.
Suprise, you're sisters!
Evie knows you're sisters
To be honest, you could be leader of their group, and also could be considered one of the most problematic kids on the Island, but you're too laid back.
You could go out of your way to cause trouble and make life on the island even more miserable than it already is.
But that takes too much effort.
Uma and Harry have no beef with you other than the fact that you're Mal's friend.
They try to get you to join their crew almost daily.
"Nah, you guys are good at what you do without me."
You're welcome at Ursula's fish and chips any time.
Uma doesn't even find your rejection insulting, you're just. So chill?
Her crew has rules, training, errands to run, collecting protection fees, and helping her at her mother's restuarant.
No thanks
Too much work
You like Mal's mom's way of doing things, "When you're evil, doing less is doing more."
Mal's crew just kinda hangs out together and roams the island being cats basically - lounging and loitering where you're not supposed to, subtly stealing things, knocking things over, just chilling and having fun doing whatever you want.
Your kinda crew.
Storyline:
When they go to Auradon, they take you with them
You weren't invited because again - no one knows who your parents are.
But you guys are kinda a package deal.
Ben was all for it when they called him.
"The more the merrier!"
He thought it was just an early sign that this was a great idea and he was making a difference.
You dont get to say bye to your dad because it was a very last minute thing.
You just kinda disappear.
But to be honest he's used to you just not showing up for weeks or even months at a time.
It's the reason why you were able to keep who your father is a secret for so long.
You come out the limo looking as cool as a cucumber, with your arms crossed as you stand next to Mal.
Tumblr media
"This is more than you said there would be!" Fairy Godmother is not so subtly whisper-yelling at Ben.
"They wouldn't come without her- it was all of them, or none of them."
"Well maybe that should have been a sign, Benny-boo!"
"You know we can still hear you," you say while purposely chewing your gum in an obnoxious manner, just to get on their nerves.
They're already getting on yours.
In all seriousness, you whisper a, "Just say the word and she's toast," to Mal.
Screw Audrey.
Of course they split you all up for the most part.
They're worried if they put all the VK's together in one class, it may be too much for the teachers to handle.
They're not wrong.
To be honest though, you're a handful all on your own.
Your teachers wonder how things managed to burst into flames for no apparent reason all through out class.
Some jerks thought it would be okay to pick on Carlos when Jay isn't around him.
For some reason they think that just because your a girl, you're weak?
Must be the stupid "princely boy needs to save the day" mentality that runs rampant in Auradon.
You set someone's hair on fire.
And someone else duffle bag.
This would probably be a good time to mention that the VK's already know you can conjure fire.
They just think that your parent/parents are witches and you just have an affinity for fire.
Carlos normally either sticks to you or Jay when he isn't practicing with Ben.
You dont see your fathers statue in the hall of villains when you guys break into the museum - mostly because he's in another hall completely.
There's a whole hall dedicated to God's and goddesses as well as Hercules story.
You dont bother to offer up your powers when you're escaping, you know Mal's got it covered.
Helping Mal bake love potion cookies.
While the others are doing this because their parents would have their necks, you're genuinely doing this for your father. You know all he wants is to get off the island.
Causing a small lawn fire when the Sleeping Beauty's family and Chad get in Mal's face.
Your bursted into blue flames when Maleficent crashed Ben's coronation.
Tumblr media
Having Mal's back after she was announced to become a new Lady of the Court.
Honestly you dont know what the big deal is about Mal using her magic.
Of course you go with Evie, Ben, Carlos, and Jay when they go to the isle to get Mal.
When Evie goes to talk to Mal you go visit your father.
He's a bit upset with you because he's seen you on TV so he knows you left.
But he can understand you not wanting to be trapped on this island forever.
"I'll find a way to get you out, soon."
"Say 'hello' to Mal for me"
Of course you couldn't.
Harry flirting with you and trying to recruit you again when he snags Ben.
When the battle at the docks ensues, you dont need a sword to fight.
Like Hades with his Ember, and like Mal and her Mother with their eyes, you dont need magic to use your flames because they are a part of you.
Sure the island managed to hold you back, but you can bring just enough to the surface to make any sword you grab on to too hot to handle.
Your powers are useless against Uma when she crashes cotillion.
You know, being surrounded by water and all.
"See ya, Y/N."
"See ya, Uma."
Surprisingly hard for you to make enemies
Except for Audry you know.
Of course you are Mal's planned maid of honor for her wedding.
Evue already has a dress made for you, and it was super hard for her not to gush to Mal about it because that would have given away the suprise.
You pretending to be defenceless against Hades when you all go to pick up the next chosen VK's to come to Auradon.
You keep your flames concealed of course because this would be a terrible time to show that both you and Hades share the same flaming blue hair.
You honestly surprised no one put two and two together sooner.
Definitely not there for the meeting where Mal decides to close the barrier for good.
But you were there for when Mal told Evie.
You were also the first to figure out Mal was hiding something. She wouldn't tell you right out though, but you knew something was up because that pause to answer Evie was too long.
Going back to the isle with the others to get Hades ember after Audrey turn Mal old.
"Hey girls~" was the greeting you both got from Hades when Mal tried to grab his Ember.
"Long time no see, Y/N."
Mal just glares at him.
You sit on the table where the Ember was while you let Mal and Hades have their little musical number. Mal kinda let her anger come through.
"Hey!" You would not be dragged into this, thank you.
You went to stand next to Mal when she asked for the Ember one final time and looked at your father with a shit eating grin, because you know deep down he won't say no to his girls.
"The Ember won't work for you."
"Yes it will. We're blood."
"You're only half Hades."
"Well then I guess two halves make a whole, right?"
"Those are my girls~"
Tumblr media
You, Mal, and Uma joining together to break Audrey's attempt to keep you guys trapped in the cabin.
Helping Evie be the peace keeper when you all battle the suits of armor in Ben's castle.
You chase after Uma and Harry when Mal breaks the news about the barrier.
Which means you didn't get turned to stone.
Helping Uma reignite the Ember so Mal can take on Audrey.
Telling Mal you want to go back to the Isle along with Uma, Harry, Gil, and Celiea.
She's heart broken because you're her sister and it was kinda supposed to be you both against the world.
You can't turn your back on the kids from the isle. Like Mal, so many of the younger ones look up to you. On top of that you also can't imagine not ever seeing your dad again.
She understands, and when Hades comes to wake up Audrey, you go back to the Isle with your father.
You finally agree to join Uma's crew when you return.
Shes happy but also let's you know shes sorry you had to leave your sister.
You're hanging out with your new crew at the Fish and Chips when it's almost time for Mal to announce that they will be closing the Barrier forever.
You, Uma, Gil, and Harry are huddles up together around the TV.
But when Mal announces they will be opening the barrier for good you all cheer and you run to go get your dad.
Yay big family reunion!

Promises
Pairing - Harry Hook x Reader
Rating - PG
Warning - Teenage pregnancy
“Hey Mal I really have to tell you something before you go.” I say to my best friend Mal nervously toying with the zipper on my leather jacket. “Im pre...” I get cut off by Mal’s mother calling her. “I’m sorry (Y/N) tell me when we get the wand. I’ll be back for you promise.” Mal says giving me a quick hug before going to her mother.
I want to break down as my best friends drive away in a limo leaving me by myself and pregnant. I just found out that I was three months pregnant with my boyfriends child today after visiting the witches of the Isle. I haven’t been feeling good for the past few weeks and now I know why. I feel even worse knowing that my best friends have left me.
My names (Y/N) by the way. I’m the daughter of the Queen Of Hearts although I haven’t seen my mother for 6 years when I started living with the gang in our hideout. I have also been secretly dating Harry Hook for the past year. I was never mean to Uma and we are actually really good friends. Me and Gil are great friends also although my gang doesn’t know that. Uma and Gil found out about me and Harry about 6 months ago when we were sneaking around.
Now I just have to tell Harry that I’m pregnant and pray to Hades he doesn’t leave me. I slowly walk to the chip shoppe knowing that’s where Harry will be. I walk in and over to where Harry, Uma, and Gil were eating fries.
“Hey love.” Harry calls as he sees me patting the seat next to him. “Hi Harry.” I say sitting down and pecking him on the lips. “Hi (Y/N).” Gil andUma say at the same time. “Hey guys.” I say in response. I then start to bite my lip trying to build up my courage to tell them about the baby growing inside of me.
“What’s wrong? You only bite your lip when your nervous.” Harry asks. I can’t help it, Harry can read me like an open book. “Mal and the rest of the gang were invited to Auradon and there going to try and steal Fairy Godmothers wand to get us out of here.” I didn’t mean to tell them that. I meant to tell them I’m pregnant but they needed to know that anyway. Uma and Gil start celebrating.
Harry’s face in neutral when he asks, “What’s really wrong?” “I’m pregnant.” I say quietly. Gil and Uma immediately stop there jaws dropping. I look towards Harry next. His eyes are wide. “Harry... say something please.” I quietly plea. “We’re going to be parents!” He says excitement in his voice. He pulls me in for a kiss before hugging me. I can hear Gil and Uma chanting about how there going to be aunts and uncles. The crew behind us are cheering.
A few weeks later everyone found out that Mal was meant to steal the wand tonight at the princes coronation. Me, Harry, Uma, and Gil sit on the couches in front of the television is the restaurant. The rest of the crew is behind us. I look down to see the tiny bump in my stomach.
“Have you though of a name yet?” Uma asks. She’s been so happy since I told everyone I was pregnant. We even made Uma and Gil godparents. “Not yet.” Harry answers for me. His arms around my shoulder and he’s holding my hand. “What about Hailee if it’s a girl.” Gil says. “You know what I like that name.” I tell them.
Our conversation is cut short though when the coronation starts. A few minutes in the wand is taken out of Fairy Godmothers hand. The crew around us starts to cheer but we just stay silent and watch the rest. That’s when we see it’s a different girl who stole the wand. She starts swinging it wildly and the ground begins to shake.
Harry grips me tighter. That’s when Mal wrestles the wand out of the girls hand. I perk up excited that maybe we would get off this Hades forsaken island. That’s when Mal decides to be good. Everything goes downhill from there. Maleficent shows up and I’m sure you know what happens after that.
Gil looks sad on the couch. Uma’s ordering the crew around. Harry’s cursing while holding me tightly. Silent tears are running down my face. I cried myself to sleep that night in Harry’s arms. In our shared room on the ship. Those were the last tears I shed for my “friends”.
Mal decided to be good 8 months ago. My child Hailee Heart Hook was born 5 months ago. She was born two months early. She’s healthy though and that’s all me and Harry can hope for. My friends are helping though. Uma and Gil babysit when ever we need it. They absolutely adore Hailee. Them and my other friend Dizzy along with Harry grab all the baby food they can find.
Harry actually went to ask Dizzy if she had any food for Hailee because we were running low when he ran into the restaurant looking frantic. Uma was holding Hailee while I was holding Hailees bottle. Uma said, “What happened?” The same time I said, “Are you alright?” Harry takes a deep breath before answering “Mal’s back.” With those two words it’s like everything was closing in on me. The bottle toppled out of my hand slamming on to the floor.
———3rd POV———
“Dizzy, do you have anymore?” Harry asks her walking into Curl Up & Dye. “Yeah I grab them.” Dizzy says walking to the back. Harry turns around to see Mal in the back of the room. “Hi, Harry.” Mal says with a mocking wave. “Mal. What are you doing back here?” Harry asks her his signature smirk on his face.
“I got bored.” Mal says chewing her gum. “Uma will be happy to know your back. She’ll never give you your territory back.” Harry tells her. “It’s ok, because I’ll be taking it. I’m going to meet up with my friend (Y/N) and we’re taking your pirate crew down.” Mal tells him.
“(Y/N) isn’t with you anymore. She’s with us. You stay away from her. She’s better off without you.” Harry says to Mal the smirk falling off his face into a cold hard glare. “Here you go Harry.” Dizzy says handing Harry a bag of baby food. Harry takes it and leaves with a mock bow.
“You know Harry’s right (Y/N)s with Uma’s crew now. She’s really happy. You should just leave her alone.” Dizzy says before walking into the back leaving Mal and her thoughts.
———(Y/N) POV———
A few minutes after Harry tells us Mal is here Gil comes running into the restaurant. “Evie... Jay... Carlos... Ben.” Gil says panting. “Ben as in King Ben?” I ask rocking Hailee back in forth. “There on the Isle.” Gil tells us. That’s when Uma had the idea to kidnapped the King and use him as ransom for Fairy Godmothers wand.
“Grab him and be careful.” I order a few of the crew members pointing to the king passed out in the middle of a alleyway. Harry comes up from behind me wrapping his arms around my stomach. He lays his head down on my neck. “You didn’t have to knock him out.” I say to Harry.
“Yeah but what’s the fun in that.” Hardy responds. “Come on let’s go tell Mal she needs to meet Uma.” I say with a sigh. Harry just gets off of me and gives me a smile. We walk towards the gangs old hideout. Evie, Carlos, and Jay are there calling for Ben. A we walk out of the shadows Evie says, “Ben don’t scare us like that.” “Don’t scare you? That’s my specialty.” Harry responds.
I step out from behind Harry. “(Y/N)?” Carlos asks quietly. “We took the king. If you want him back have Mal come to the shoppe at 6pm today. Alone.” I tell them trying not to let too much emotion in my voice. “(Y/N)? What happened to you?” Jay asks trying to grab my hand.
Harry immediately steps in front of me and roughly throws Jays hand down. “Don’t touch her.” He says teeth clenched his protectiveness for me showing. Jay goes to run at Harry when Evie puts a hand on his shoulder. “Come on. We told them what we needed to let’s go Harry.” I say. He’s still glaring at Jay before reluctantly turning aroun. We walk back to the resturant his arm over my shoulder.
As we walk in Harry immediately goes and grabs Hailee from Uma’s arms. “Can you check on the king for me?” Uma asks a few minutes later. “Sure. Harry you coming?” I ask getting up. I’m the resident doctor for he crew because I’m the only one who can stitch a wound. “Yep.” Harry says popping the p.
We walk to the room on the ship the king is locked in. Harry’s trailing behind me. The only sound is Hailees giggles and our footsteps. I look behind me to find Harry making silly faces at Hailee to make her laugh. A smile immediately finds its way to my face.
I unlock the door and the king is sitting on the floor. Harry stands in the corner still playing with Hailee. “Hello Ben. My names (Y/N) I’m going to make sure you don’t have a concussion.” I tell him walking closer. “I need you to follow my finger with your eyes only.” I tell him.
The king is still silent but does as I say. “Is that your child?” Ben asks quietly. “Yes.” I tell him focusing on checking his head for injury. “You know Mal talks about you all the time. I’m sure if she knew you had a child she would make sure you came to Auradon.” Ben says.
“Well she doesn’t know.” I say snappily. “Is he the father?” Ben asks. “Aren’t you full of questions. Yes Harry is the father. I need you to get up and walk in a straight line.” I tell him. Ben gets up. “You’ll be fine. The worst is a headache.” I tel him. “Come on Harry.” I say going to leave. “I’ll get you all off the Isle. I promise.” Ben says. I stopped believing in promises when Mal left.
“How’s the king?” Uma asks as we walk back into the resturant. Harry goes to sit next to Gil while I answer Uma. “Fine.” I tell her. I look over to see Gil now holding Hailee. I can see her yawn. “Is it ok, if I put Hailee to sleep in your room?” I ask Uma.
“Of course. Her hippo stuffed animal is in her crib up there. Don’t be gone too long though. Mal should be here in a few minutes.” Uma informs me. I go and take Hailee from Gil with only a little fussing about her leaving her uncle. “Come on honey it’s nap time.” I tell Hailee laying her in bed. I put her blanket over her and her stuffed animal in her hand. She starts to cry as I quickly calm her down. A few minutes later she’s asleep and I’m heading down to the resturant.
I walk into the shoppe to see Mal’s an Uma arm wrestling. Uma’s loosing badly. Mal seems to loose some of her concentration when she sees me. I walk over to Harry as Uma says, “I win you bring me Fairy Godmothers wand.” Mal’s eyes turn normal and Uma slams her hand down.
Uma celebrates while Harry brings me in for a passionate kiss. Mal looks like she wants to come and talk to me but instead she walks out. Us and the crew celebrate the rest of the night.
———3rd POV———
“I can’t believe we have to give Uma the wand.” Carlos says with a sigh. Mal is pacing and biting her nails. “We can’t give Uma the wand.” Evie tells everyone. “I got it how about your 3D printer.” Mal says. “That’s a good idea I can print that in my sleep.” Jay says.
After a few moments of joy Evie says, “Did you see (Y/N)?” Everygrew quiet for a second before Mal says, “Yeah she was there.” “You know I can’t believe she betrayed us.” Jay says with a huff. “She didn’t betray us. We betrayed her. We left her to fend for herself while we lived it up in Auradon.” Carlos points out. “Didn’t you promise her we would be back?” Evie questions Mal.
“Yeah, but now she’s with Uma and the pirate crew. There were a bunch of other crews she could have joined. Plus she’s dating Harry.” Mal spits in disgust. “Harry loves her. I could see it in his eyes. When Jay went to grab (Y/N) Harry stepped in front of her and practically growled at Jay. He would have fought Jay for her.” Evie reasons.
———(Y/N) POV———
“Hey, love.” I hear a thick Scottish accent say. I wake up to Harry kissing my head. “Is Hailee up yet?” I ask Harry with a yawn. As soon as I say that Hailee starts crying. “I got her, Hearts.” Harry says getting up. “What are we going to do with her today?” I ask Harry. “Dizzy could watch her.” Harry says. “Ok. That should be fine.”
The king is currently tied up. The crew working hard around him. “Hey Gil you want to go to Dizzy’s with me?” I call to him. “Sure.” Gil says with a big smile. “Harry don’t kill the king while I’m gone.” I say walking over to Harry. He’s supposed to be watching the king. “I wouldn’t dream of it.” Harry responds. “Me and Gil are going to drop Hailee off at Dizzy’s.” I tell him. I peck him on the lips and then we’re gone.
At 11:00 me and Gil are back on the ship after hanging with Dizzy for a littl bit. I’m currently babysitting Harry who’s babysitting the king. I have already taken away Harry’s Hook with a lot of pouting. It’s not my fault Harry was trying to kill the king. We still need him. “20 more minutes.” Harry says tauntingly holding up his pocket watch.
“That says 11:30 idiot.” I tell Harry. “Oh you love me.” Harry says turning to me. “Maybe just a little bit.” I say. As 12 struck Gil calls out, “There here.” That’s when they started there singing and dancing. It’s something they always do. Let me tell you I can’t sing so I just kind of watched and laughed. That’s when Harry started to sing. “Ok Harry. We get it. Chill.” I tell him pulling him back by his hook.
“Give us Ben.” Mal pleads. “Give me the wand.” Uma counters. I grab Ben from Harry making our way over to (Y/N). “I’m going to get all of you off the Isle. You, your child, everyone.@ Ben whispers quietly to me. I spin him towards me before saying quietly. “Don’t you dare tell Mal about Hailee.” I then turn him back around and give him to Uma.
Before I know it the wands a fake and we’re in a battle. I go for this new girl. “Your good.” I remark. “Thanks.” She says. “My names (Y/N).” I tell her. “Lonnie. Daughter of Mulan.” She says. “You know we could use you to train new recruits.” I say. “Oh no. I get sea sick.” She informs me. That’s when I see Jay dangling Harry’s Hook over the ocean. “Truce?” I ask putting my sword to my side. “Sure.” She says warily.
That’s when I heard the sound of a body hitting the water. “I have to go deal with someone.” I tell her before running towards where Harry was climbing out of the water. “Idiot.” I tell him. “I’m your idiot.” He says his signature smirk on his face.
We both run off to fight different people. Jay comes up to me and we are currently both in a heated battle. He tried to talk at first but I just ignored him. Out of the corner of my eye I can see Harry and Ben fighting. That’s when the smoke bombs went off. By the time the air cleared Mal and her gang were standing on the other side of the wood bridge. We all try to run at her but she kicks the bridge into the water. We lost. Mal left again, her and her broken promises.
———3rd POV———
The events of cotillion happened 3 weeks ago. Ben, Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay are standing outside of Auradon Prep waiting on new VKs to arrive. “So who’s coming anyway?” Mal asks turning to Ben. “Well there are 5 coming.” Evie then asks, “Why isn’t the rest of the school here?” “Well one of them... has sensitive ears.” Ben answers vaguely.
The limo pulls out and the first one out is Dizzy. She immediately runs up to Evie and gives her a big hug. “Oh my Hades! Dizzy. It’s great to see you.” Evie exclaims. The next one out is (Y/N). “(Y/N).” Mal breathes out. Soon Gil is bounding out. “Look at all the colors (Y/N).” He says excited. “I know Gil.” (Y/N) answers.
Uma steps out next and stands next to (Y/N) her arms crossed. None of the original VKs have moved since Gil came out of the car. The next one out is Harry. His hook is hooked on his jeans. He’s holding Hailee, as she’s wrapped in a bundle of blankets.
“Is that a baby?” Evie ask walking closer to Harry who was currently next to (Y/N). He visibly tensed when Evie started walking but (Y/N) put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. “You guys have a baby?” Carlos asks confused pointing at (Y/N) and Harry. “Yeah, mate.” Harry answers.
“Aww. She’s so cute. What’s her name?” Evie practically squeals standing next to Harry. “Hailee. You can hold her if you want.” (Y/N) tells Evie. Evie smiles and takes Hailee from Harry. A promise broke them apart and another brought them together.

An- My first Harry fic!! I hope you all enjoy it. More Hades to come. unedited.  once again, thank you @pennylesspiggybank for the title.
Seven months. It’s been seven months. Seven months of walking around with a bump, getting sad looks, as sad as the people of the Isle could muster. You haven’t been in the actual Isle since about month five. Harry put you on bed rest. You’ll need your strength for when the baby got here. Harry was being the perfect boyfriend through all of your mood swings and cravings. He’d go out to the market and get whatever you asked for. He still worked for Uma but handed over the dirty work to Gil. Speaking of Uma, she wasn’t acting as bad as you thought she would. She was actually helping. She even visited every once in a while, something that Harry didn’t know of.
You watched as Harry jumped through the barrier. He did it. He made it. Your heart jumped. Would they kill him? Please don’t, Mal. You were in the shadows, exactly where Harry told you to stay. He looked back and walked over to the barrier. You stepped out of the shadows. His hand touched the border, his eyes were filled with adventure but love. “I’ll be back, my love,” he mouthed and blew you a kiss. You caught it and ducked back into the shadows before Mal saw you. Harry didn’t need them knowing about you. He’ll be safe. He’ll come back to meet his child.
You watched as the discussion between Harry and Gil grew heated until a rock flew through the air and fell into the water. You watched as Uma emerged from the waters. Harry and Gil grew excited. After more discussion, they all loaded into the long car thing. Harry looked back one more time. I love you was passed between you both until a blue-colored glove brought him down. A kick came from your stomach, “it’s okay, little one, Daddy will be back. He promised…”
It was hard to sleep without Harry telling your bump stories or singing to it. You’ve asked him what he thought the baby was. “As long as it’s healthy, (Y/N), I’ll love it,” was always his answer but he always used her when talking about her. Thinking about Harry with a little girl always made your heart melt. Your baby kicked again, it was happening more often, you only hoped Harry would be back before she came. There wasn’t a lot in terms of medication on the Isle and you needed Harry to be there telling you it’ll be alright.
The Isle was quiet. So was the apartment that you and Harry claimed when you found out you were expecting. One of the lost boys was doing your errands for you while Harry was away. Nothing for you to do but talk to your bump. You’ve seen what’s going on in Auradon and it scares you. What is Harry gets spelled and no one knows about you over there? Taking a breath, you pushed those thoughts away. Harry promised. He doesn’t break your promises.
The days seem to drag on. You out in the market. It was a nice day in the Isle and you felt like getting some air. The baby’s kicks aren’t happening as often but they still do. It’s become a comfort for you. You just wished Harry would feel it kick. The atmosphere felt different. An almost… good different. Like a weight was taken off of everyone’s shoulders. You walked down to the market. You didn’t need anything but maybe you could have something on hand for when Harry gets back. You were looking at some really ripe bananas when a voice startled you, “and what do you think yer doing out of bed?” A smile spread across your face. Your love was finally back. “Harry…” you breathed and turned to him. He looked the same as when he left. “I’ve got something to show you.” “Hug me first please, we’ve missed you,” Harry’s grin spread at the use of the plural. “Come ‘er.” You all but fell into his arms, mindful of your bump. He was laughing, a very happy laugh, one you haven’t heard since you told him you were pregnant. It suddenly stopped and Harry quickly jerked back, “What was that?” You were confused. He dropped down to the ground and was eye level with your bump. “I felt something? Is she okay?” It happened again. A kick. Happy tears welled up in your eyes, “that’s just your little girl saying hello to you.” He let out a breath and the happiest look crossed his face. He kissed your bump and felt another kick. He laughed. He was so in love with this little baby already.
“Harry!” Uma’s voice pulled you out of your love crazed mind. He stood up and ran over to her, “Uma! The baby! She’s moving!” Uma smiled at how happy her first mate was. “I’m happy for you Harry. Now go get the mom and let’s bring her to Auradon,” Harry jumped. He couldn’t control his excitement. He dreaded letting you give birth on the Isle, scared to death he’d lose you, but now? He gets to take you back to Auradon. Where you’ll get the best doctors and you’ll live! You’ll live to see your baby grow. Harry couldn’t be happier. “We’re going to Auradon?” you asked. Uma smiled, “Yes, Mal is opening up the border for all of us. We’re finally united.” You grinned just as big as Harry. Finally, a chance to be happy.
Harry put an arm around your back and walked with you to the exit of the Isle. The border was open and a welcoming bridge was leading you to the bright city of Auradon. You looked at Harry to find him already looking at you. “Let’s go home, Harry.” A tear leaked out his eye and he kissed you. Yeah, finally a home.
You made it across the bridge, but Harry stopped you. All eyes were on you and the group from that Isle that was behind you. Harry looked skeptical. You saw the VKs. Their eyes were on you, mostly your stomach and Harry’s arm wrapped protectively over you. King Ben stepped up with Mal right behind him. He smiled brightly and did something you thought you’d ever see. He bowed. He bowed to the children of the Isle. Mal followed, and then the rest of the citizens of Auradon. You felt tears. You’ll finally be accepted somewhere. Uma cheered and it broke everyone out of the shocked silence. Uma ran to Mal and everyone else rushed forward. You turned to Harry. He kissed you. Right in front of everyone. He smiled into the kiss.
“Harry Hook! You didn’t seem like the person to settle down,” came Evie’s voice and broke apart. You smiled and pushed Harry back when he tensed up. “I’m (Y/N).” Evie shook your hand and looked down, “how long?” You smiled, “Seven months.” Evie gasped, “You should be in bed! Doug! Where’s Ben?” she turned to you, “Ben will make sure you both have a place to stay first.” You smiled gratefully, “We really appreciate it, Evie.”
“You were looking for me- oh! You’re pregnant,” Evie laughed, “yes, Ben, she is. She needs a place for when the baby comes.” Ben nodded and smiled. He grabbed your hand, “We’ll get a doctor to have a checkup on your baby.” You smiled again and turned to Harry. He wasn’t looking at you, he was looking at your bump. Love was swimming in his eyes. You patted his cheek to get his attention, “Hey. Did you hear Ben?” He nodded but you doubted that he did.
A sudden sharp pain cut through your abdomen. You hunched over and groaned. “Baby! What happened?” Harry grabbed your upper arms so you didn’t fall over. Another round of pain cramped your stomach. “H-Harry…” your pants grew wet. No. Not now. You grabbed Harry’s bicep hard. “Harry, it’s coming.” “Oh shit, Evie!” Evie ran over. She quickly understood and got a couple of guards to help take you to the small hospital that was in the school. It wasn’t equipped for a baby but it will be by the time the baby actually came.
All you felt was pain. You didn’t feel being moved from Harry’s arms to a stretcher. You didn’t notice the harsh lights of the hospital. Or the beeping of the heart machine going down…
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harry’s POV
There was blood. Your blood. All over the stretcher and his hands. You had collapsed by the time the guards go to you. Harry couldn’t do anything, he watched as they lifted you up into the big van. Ben was by his side guiding him into the waiting car. Sentences weren’t coming together. He caught words like “hospital” and “surgery” but nothing fit together. He could feel tears leaking but he couldn’t wipe them away. He flinched when a hand started to wipe them away for him. “Hey, it’s just me. You’re okay.” It was Uma. He looked over. She had a cloth in her hand and was giving him a sad look. “Um…” he couldn’t get her name out. He broke down. He fell into her arms and cried.
Uma just held him as he cried, “she’ll make it Harry. They got great doctors here.” He just cried harder, because what if you didn’t? Harry couldn’t think about it. What will he do when you’re gone. What if he loses you and the baby? Harry sobbed. He didn’t care who was in the car with him. He just wanted you. He heard Ben say something about going to the actual hospital and Harry looked up. His bloodshot eyes met Ben’s. Ben looked like he was also about to cry. “P-please tell me s-she’ll make it.” Ben struggled to put on a small smile for the pirate. “The doctors will do their best. Uma’s right, she’s in good hands.” Harry nodded and leaned against the car window. He tried to think of happier thoughts. His thoughts brought him to when you met…
It was a cold night on the Isle. The scraps of fabric doing nothing to warm his body. Harry considered himself one of the lucky ones. At least he had a jacket. He was strutting around the market. Not many people out. He picked up a piece of beard, winked at the seller, who rolled their eyes and bit into it. A sudden object hit his head. “Pay for it you asshole.” He smirked and slowly turned around. So someone wants to play? The words died in his mouth
when his eyes landed on the most beautiful thing
on the Isle. A girl with braided hair and tattered clothes.
“Well, whoo might you be, love?” He turned up the charm.
Maybe she’ll bite. You rolled your eyes. “Pay the for the
bread  and get lost, pirate.” Oh, she’s feisty. Good. Harry spread his arms wide, “come on, baby, I can’t have a little
Bread in this weather?”
The car jerked to a stop, knocking Harry out of his thoughts. Uma was pushing him out of the door. They were in the emergency section of the hospital. Harry’s eyes didn’t focus on anything. He watched Ben walk up to a nurse and the nurse point them down the right hall. Uma kept her hand on his shoulder. He felt like he’d fall if she didn’t. They followed Ben down the hall.  If Harry was paying attention, he’d see all the baby stuff that lined the hallways. Ben stopped them in a waiting room. He came over to Harry and helped him sit down, “I’m going to go talk to a nurse, okay?” At Harry’s slight nod, he walked away and caught up with a nurse. The VKs sat across the way from Harry. Uma said something to Gil, who eagerly nodded and left the room. Ben came back and sat next to Mal.
“They took her in for an emergency c-section. They got her stabilized but she lost a lot of blood. The baby is small but seems to be healthy enough to come out.” Harry nodded and crossed his arms over his chest. Gil broke up the silence by coming back with a drink for Harry. He tried to take it but he was shaking too bad. “Here, just breathe Harry,” Uma said and lifted the cup to Harry’s mouth. It reminds Harry of when he’d get sick on the Isle and his dad would make him stay with Uma so Captain Hook wouldn’t get sick.
It felt like years to Harry until the operating door opened. A doctor and two nurses walked out in scrubs. Ben stood up and walked over to him. Harry started shaking again. He just knew the doctors were coming to tell him that he’d lost you. He promised to protect you. Protect you from everything, but he couldn’t protect you from himself. Harsh breathing caught his attention. It was his own. He registered Uma’s voice first. Then Ben’s face right in front of him. He blinked the black dots from his eyes and cleared the fog from his mind. He leaned his head back.
“Are you ready to meet your daughter, Harry?” Yeah, sur- WHAT?! Harry couldn’t believe it. A daughter. He had a daughter. “Come on, your girl is asking for you.” Harry couldn’t help but cry again. You’re alive. Harry followed the doctor to your room. Harry heard soft cries and cooing from the open door. He peeked in. There you were. Alive. You must have seen him come in because you turned your head. “Harry, she’s here.” Harry let out a watery laugh and moved the pink blanket back from her face. The baby was so soft. She had Harry’s blue eyes and mouth, but the little hair that she had was green, just like yours. Harry finally looked at you. Even post-surgery, you took his breath away. “Hold her Harry. She wants her father.” Father. Harry’s heart clenched. Perfect.
He carefully took the bundle and turned around, sitting down on the bed. Uma was standing in the doorway. She smiled at Harry. Harry had tears of joy running down his face. He was gently touching the baby’s face. Harry gasped, Uma looked down. The baby had latched on to his finger and smiled the best smile that a newborn could have. Uma felt tears on herself, it was all just amazing. The nurse walked back in, “You must be the father,” Harry’s cheeks hurt from smiling, “(Y/N), wanted you to be here for the name.” Harry’s eyes flew to yours. A name hadn’t been picked out. You smiled and grabbed his hand, eyes never leaving his, “Harley. Harley Hook.”

Top 10 Favourite Characters
I was tagged by @not-a-natural-born-idjit and then flailed because they’re one of my absolute fave writers! (Seriously go to AO3 and read everything right now)
Rules: list your favorite character from 10 different fandoms and tag 10 people
1. Castiel | Supernatural I know I flail a lot about Dean and I love Dean’s face but Castiel is my #1. He’s fierce and brave and impatient and selfless. I don’t know how a being that’s been around for millenia can be innocent but he is. I like how messy he is, and he can be such an effective antagonist without being the big bad. Any friction he has with The Winchesters is from disagreeing on the right course of action and as viewers we can decide who to side with because both are inherently good. It’s their decisions that cause problems and that is a much more compelling narrative than “this thing is just evil.” I ship him with Dean (duh) but also Sam occasionally and I’d honestly love to see some Cas/Rowena action.
2. Hannibal Lecter | NBC Hannibal/Hannibal-verse Long before NBC decided to grace us with the absolute masterpiece that is Hannibal, I have loved this character. I think I was 14 or 15 when I fell down the Thomas Harris rabbit hole and I’ve yet to find a more perfectly crafted psychopath. He’s so refined that you really can believe that no one would suspect him of being the Chesapeake Ripper. His crimes are heinous and many without feeling sensationalized. Harris was originally a crime reporter which I think gave him the ability to ground Hannibal in reality. I really liked how the TV show fleshed out the main points that in the books Clarice Starling and Will Graham continually have to remind people of which is that he does these things to amuse himself. It was really amazing to watch him set up the dominos and then stand back to let everyone else knock them all down. I ship him with Clarice or Alaina mainly but I LOVE me some murder!husbands. It’s the slowest of burns and I will bask in those flames forever.
3. Malcolm Bright | Prodigal Son First of all Tom Payne okay. Second of all, poor, sweet damaged Malcolm. I really like that he has that rich kid air about him but it’s super subtle. He’s obviously very damaged by his father (Martin Whitley is a good example of one of those over the top “legendary” killer characters, though Michael Sheen’s performance REALLY goes a long way to making that believable) and the show doesn’t make his mental illness the forefront of his character. Malcolm works and visits his family and occasionally dates very similarly to any other main character but he’s doing all these things with severe PTSD, anxiety and depression. He’s always portrayed as upbeat and determined to push through any handicaps his mental health issues might cause. There are also times when he can’t and those are shown not by concerned family and friends banding together to throw him in a treatment center but it’s usually him, white-knuckling through it or attempting to work it out on his own which is another extremely realistic portrayal of how people deal with trauma and depression. I ship him with OFC because he and Dani have ZERO chemistry (I’m sorry Brightwell people). I like the IDEA of him and Edrissa but no one is writing it and I can’t even really get MY head around how to write it so I feel this serious urge to PUT HIM WITH SOMEBODY but there’s not been anyone on the show I’ve seen him have real chemistry with yet.
4. Tyrion Lannister | Game of Thrones I love Tyrion so much. I love him so much I named my cat after him. I loved him so much that I lived in CONSTANT. FEAR. that GRRM was going to kill him off at any moment. I like that despite everyone always thinking the worst of him he still does his best and not even with any intention of proving anyone wrong. He plays into their expectations with the booze and women but deep down he’s got a drive to be fair and especially kind to anyone who’s on the receiving end of pain and humiliation that are undeserved. He’s also fierce and clever enough to deliver crushing judgement and justice when deserved whether its through setting the wheels in motion or wielding the crossbow himself. I ship him with Sansa, shut up I know I just love the idea of them growing to love each other despite the rocky start.
5. Hermione Granger | Harry Potter HP was my first real brush with fandom. Like I’d been a Justin Timberlake fangirl since I was 12 and despite his level of fame the fandom was very small. When I started the series at 17 the breadth of content available was staggering. You could literally find ANY combination of ships you could fathom and it all ran the gamut from fluffy to downright depraved. I also find it interesting that while I like Hermione as a character in the books/movies she is far from my favorite character but she’s literally the only character I stan in the fanfic world of HP. I mainly shipped Hermione with Draco or Snape (forgive me I know it was a simpler time where we ignored everything problematic with certain kinks and narratives) and sometimes Harry. She’s such a strong female character that no matter who you pair her with the dynamic is going to be different and complex.
6. Peeta Mellark | The Hunger Games While I relate to Katniss on a very personal level, the boy with the bread absolutely fuels my little fangirl heart. The pining from a young age. The complete disregard for his own safety or survival in the games. Selfless and just good to the core, his subsequent torture by the Capitol and Katniss’ carelessness with his feelings is like taking blow after blow. And when they strip his loyalty to Katniss and his district away it’s even more tragic because he was just this sweet kid who had a crush. UGH feels. I ship him with Katniss. I just really can’t see him with anyone else.
7. Alexander Hamilton | Hamilton THIS was one where i just identify SO. HARD. with Hamilton. While I definitely didn’t endure a childhood like his, I did end up transitioning from a blue collar upbringing to a white collar career and experience the same chip on my shoulder and drive to prove myself. And I too write like I am running out of time. I ship him with his wife or maybe Angelica a little.
8. Persephone | Greek Mythology Not sure if there’s a “fandom” for this persay but Tumblr went through a phase in the early 10s where there was a ton of meta about Persephone and how her narrative as a damsel stolen by Hades didn’t do her justice. The flipped the script and made her Queen of Hell, powerful enough to sway the God of Death and terrifying enough to keep him in line unlike all the other Gods that were sticking their dick in anyone and anything. It’s such an empowering narrative, a girl taken from everything she’s ever known seizes the opportunity to become a force to be reckoned with. I love it.
9. Gregory House | House M.D. I was going to say Sherlock here but I never really went hard for Sherlock either the movies or the BBC show. I loved the show but really more for the canon and meta which is only half the fandom life. With House, I just love that he is so unapologetically hateful to anyone he deems stupid. But he’s also earnest and good too with a heavy dollop of man pain... you know... my favorite *cough*Dean Winchester*cough* I ship him pretty exclusively with Cameron beacuse I really like the dynamic. Her hero worship/white knight complex his emotional constipation but fondness of her optimism and ideals. Great dynamic.
10. Edward Cullen | Twilight This is my favorite Trash Monkey character in my favorite trash monkey series. The books are horribly written, the movies are better but not by much. But goddammit something about his level of obsessive fuckery speaks to my girl lizard brain and I am just rooting for this sparkly idiot and his clumsy human jar of mayonnaise. I ship him and Bella because apparently the universe didn’t find the fact that he’s my favorite character in this series humiliating enough.

Winner’s Curse Ch. 19
Well this came as surprise to me. Literally, the whole idea came to me before I was going to bed so I wrote it the next morning, and here we are. Features some Aladdin quotes, see if you can spot them. Enjoy!
“And then Icarus, what a guy, he is so convincing as Hades, Pain and Panic start following him!” Calix hooted.
“No way, man that didn’t actually happen.” Jay challenged Calix’s story.
“No, no I’ve heard Icarus’ Hades impression, he’s good.” Aziz confirmed, “Hey, remember Icarus’ Hades impression after three drinks at Dionysus’ bacchanal?”
Calix gulped back the drink Circe had left in their shared room and where he, Aziz, and Jay were passing the time sharing stories while waiting around for Uma and Jordan’s arrival.
It had been a pretty placid three days since Jordan reversed Jay’s hypnosis for Malik’s last wish. At first there was a panic when they realized how suspicious it would be if Jay was no longer under Jafar’s thrall but they fixed that with Jordan giving him glowing red contacts. Allowing them to have another infiltrator at the Coven meetings besides Jade, Calix and Uma.
The door opened and Jordan slipped into the room, gingerly cradling her lamp in her hands. But no Uma behind her.
These three placid days had driven Uma to distraction since they were laying around on their asses and not doing anything so she arranged for this new meeting so they’d find something else to do besides eavesdrop for news of what was happening at next week’s Summer Solstice.
But even though this meeting was so important that she felt the need to threaten them with slow, graphic strangulation with her tentacles while Harry used his hook to disembowel him, apparently their leader was late.
“Where’s Jade?” Calix asked, throwing back another shot. It was a fair question since Jordan’s lamp was still technically under Jade’s possession. Or so the Coven thought.
“Showing makeup techniques to Lala and Malik.” Jordan answered.
“Oh right, Lala mentioned that to me this morning.” Aziz warily eyed the fifth shot Calix gulped down.
“Oh, she did? You talk about things other than the plan?” Jordan smoothly slid between him and Calix, her voice was suspiciously too nonchalant.
“Yeah, conversations spawn into different topics. That’s what happens when two people hang out with each other.” Aziz said a little testily with how Jordan was scanning his face like she was searching for some secret that he’d be careless enough to slip.
“Oh you and Lala hanging out together.” Jordan pursed her lips lightly, sounding way too similar to a disapproving aunt, “Can we have a private conversation in my lamp.”
Before Aziz could suss out whatever she was trying to pull and where this was coming from, Jordan had transported them into her lamp.
“Do you have a crush on Lala?” She blurted out accusingly.
Aziz decided to go for a joke, “I-I don’t know about me crushing her, bu-but I can’t blame her if the reverse is true. I mean, look at me.”
Jordan stared with an unamused raised eyebrow.
“Aziz, I know you.” She started, as if that explained why she was so sure she found the romance of the century after two innocent sentences, “I've seen you go through this before. You’re just hanging out with a girl but then you start talking about every topic under the sun. And then you get a crush and you’re all like “She's smart and fun, she’s got these eyes that just...and her hair wow! And her smile!”
“Then you go on a date that doesn’t really go anywhere for whatever reason and get pushed aside. Remember, Lonnie, and Ruby, and Alexandria and Alfonsa, and Arabella, and her twin sisters, woah! Now that I list them out, you date a lot of Triton’s granddaughters.”
“What is your point? What does that have to do with me and Lala? Not that there is anything happening.” Aziz felt himself gulping back the nervousness that he knew exactly what she was talking about even as he denied it.
“Oh please, you’re half smiling while you say her name!”
“I’m not!” Aziz unmanly squawked and cleared his throat into a deeper contralto, “I do not.”
“My point is it’s one thing to date an Ak. You get your heart broken. But a Vk? She’ll try to steal your throne and break your heart.” Jordan said.
“Steals your throne and breaks your heart. Sounds the title of a sex tape. Do you want dibs or can I have it?” Aziz took a shot in the dark to try joking his way out of this again.  “Now is not the time to joke about the title of our sex tapes. This is serious!”  “You’re still hung up on, “Can your friend do this?” It’s a bit obvious.” Aziz pointed out.
“Oh, you wanted to call your first sex tape, “A whole new world,” like that’s original.” Jordan shot back.  “And the “Welcome to the Cave of Wonders” piece you did with Calix was a unique one?” Aziz retorted.
“For your information, I couldn’t choose any title but that because.. wait wait wait? Now is not the time.”
“Aziz Ali iban Aladdin, explain yourself right now.” Jordan crossed her arms.  “Jordan, we’ve been over this. You’re not my mom.” Aziz huffed at the use of his full name.  “You’re right, I’m not. Your mom doesn’t know about what happened in Odiferous during spring break. Now I have a phone and I have video. So tell me about your feelings for Lala.”
“You’re jumping to conclusions.” Aziz said exasperatedly which was no use since she was ignoring anything that came out of his mouth.
“When did you first feel something more?” Jordan demanded.
“Rarw. Rrrawr. Meow? Are you understanding me at all?” Aziz asked the stony faced leopard man.
Aziz had to admit some of his attempts to talk to the leopard-men was out of boredom. He was starting to get a bit stir crazy being stuck in the castle all day pretending to be Jade or Lala’s slave boy. He could understand why Uncle Genie hated being in the lamp. It was so boring, having to wait for permission to do things and the things you were allowed to do was stuck inside. No running around the corridors and flipping off roofs with wind rushing through your hair or the pit in your stomach when you almost break your neck.
He missed it.
And although Lala was pretty focused in studying the Atlantean texts her mother laid out for her, even she seemed to be getting bored because at random moments, she would angrily shut her book and demand to hear Aziz talk about Agrabah.
He had to admit that if he had a choice, he’d rather be with Jordan and the others trying to make a plan to escape or at least go outside. Talking about Agrabah was getting to be the highlight of his day.
He had started with daring adventure stories about the things his parents used to get into before the Great Uniting like when they had to fight a landshark or the time his dad literally lost his head to the decapitated wizard, Caliph Kapok, and they had to get body and head back together again. He had lots of those stories, Genie often said they could create their own tv series, possibly an animated one for kids to enjoy.
And then, upon Lala’s numerous aside questions, he started describing Agrabah with its alluring spices, chests of gold and diverse and eccentric cast of merchants and travelers that lived in the Seven Deserts. He described the bad like the previous-rampant poverty that seemed similar to the Isle albeit with more head chopping from fellow humans than from a bitter decapitated wizard. It was embarrassing but one time he looked at the ornate diamond-encrusted sand-dial and saw that he had passed over an hour talking about his home. He hadn’t meant to but it just came out. He loved his home so much and describing it felt like he was back there on the dunes for a little while.
He had never talked to anyone about his home before. Jordan already knew what it was like obviously, and no one at Auradon Prep cared beyond the merchandise they could buy at the kazbah. It was so much more than that to him. Living there was an experience, an adventure. You never knew where the smell of spices could lead you or what the secret nooks and crannies would reveal.
The thing was Lala seemed just as enthralled with the place as he was. Usually when he discussed his home, people would shudder in horror at the thought of being accidentally turned into a rat due magic gone wrong and seeing the world from down below or cringed at the thought of getting sand in uncomfortable places after intense competitions of sand surfing.
But Lala looked at him with a sparkle of excitement in her eye and would occasionally point out fun variations to try like horse racing only instead of across the desert, race under the desert, jumping to the few dry spots that were present in the muddy underbelly.
He hoped that if they succeeded in defeating the Coven, Lala would visit Agrabah one day. He had a feeling that the adventures they’d get into together would be amazing. Potentially life threatening. But fun nonetheless. He’d love to watch her go against Fashoom. Or better yet, back to back against the giant scorpions guarding kanz quadim. With his wits and knowledge and her skill and cunning, they’d be an unbeatable team. It’d be fun to go with someone who wanted to be there.
Normally, he went with Jordan but she said it was only because it was her obligation to keep him from breaking his neck and/or all the bones in his body. Her words.  And his few Agrabah friends who would be game to go, were commoners who had to work during the day and it would be unfair for him to ask them to ditch just because he wanted some fun.
Yeah, it’d be fun to explore the hidden valleys of the Seven Deserts with her. He looked back to the white-haired girl where she was still bent over a book of indecipherable Atlantean words and figures, so he turned back to Kaj II, Usulan II and Muviro II. Lala’s leopard men she had named after people she knew would annoy her mother.
Aziz growled with two purrs spaced between like he had heard Raj do but the leopard men looked at him like he was an idiot. He wasn’t sure he was even speaking cat-language but it was better than accidentally challenging him to a fight so he’d take it.
“Will you stop with the ridiculous sounds, you’re not speaking leopard. Better stick to monkeys.” Lala cut through his attempts at conversing.
“How would you know? You said you don’t speak leopard.” Aziz shot back, happy that there was some element of human conversation. How the hell she lived in a jungle for days on end without human interaction was beyond his capabilities. “True. However, I know what a leopard sounds like and you don’t sound like a leopard. More like a sick alley cat.”
“Excuse me, priestess” Aziz rolled his eyes, and made another purr-growly sound at the leopards just to be contrary.
When could he go outside? When? When? When?
No, it was stupid. He couldn’t go outside and risk looking like he was escaping and ruin the whole damn mission requiring the others to get his ass out of the dungeon again.
He shuddered, gingerly touching the cheek where Staqauit had struck him numerous times, the malicious laughter of the cat twins taunting him about his impending death.
He needed to do something. Being stuck here with just his thoughts was going to drive him insane.
“Hello?”
“Huh what?”
“I said,'' Lala cleared her throat, “If you want to sound more leopard-like, start with a growl in your throat while meowing and add like you’re going to scream.” She demonstrated her leopard yowl which did get  the leopard men’s attention as they looked around for sign of attack or danger.
Aziz tried to mimic what Lala did with her instructions but failed part way through as a tickle caught in his nose before his attempted scream and he fell into a coughing fit, painfully hacking his throat.
Aziz panted, catching his breath while Lala had the grace to look back at her book and pretend not to be amused, “Okay maybe talking to cats is not my thing. But you got a leg up me with your feline self.”
“Feline self?” Lala cocked her head curiously, bringing once again to Aziz’s mind, “Curiosity killed the cat.”
“You know, your eyes, the leopards, the-”
“You think I was born with these eyes? You think I’m part cat?” Lala questioned. “Nooo,” Aziz hedged, already seeing he was going to be wrong, “Not anymore. It’s just your mom has the same eyes so I-”
“It’s spell.” Lala explained, “My mom did it when she got her staff. She did it to me when magic got through to the Isle. It helps me understand the leopards and for them to understand my orders, and it helps my reflexes. There is always a way to improve. Not that I needed improving, but I’ll admit some leopard senses are better than human’s. Like smell. Now I can smell everyone’s scent a mile away.”  .
“Scent?” “Yes, your natural scent. You smell like all that baklav Jordan’s been giving you.” She sniffed the air around him again, “Sand. Jasmine. Musk.”
“What does Jordan smell like?” Aziz asked curiously, and a little relieved that he didn’t smell worse like blood and sweat and general stink from not showering for two weeks.
“Hmm I can’t get a clear smell. You know, not objects per say. But she smells like pheromones, sometimes like fire, sand and wind. Mainly reeks of desperation.”
“Well we’re all in desperate straits here.” Aziz chuckled even though it wasn’t really that funny. Well sort of. Jordan absolutely hated not being in control. Or at least looking like she wasn’t in control. She’d freak if she knew that she quote unquote “reeked of desperation.”
“What about Jay?”
“Sweat, oil, grease, brass, musk, dirt. Something else I can’t tell which usually means someone’s hiding something or lying. Not a surprise there. He’s lucky no one else can smell him, the stench of oil and deceit is unbearable on him.”
“Yeah, good thing. I doubt he’d have a lot of admirers around him if he did.” Aziz said, feeling his mind wander off to too familiar but inevitable train of envious thought.
“Admirers? He has admirers in Auradon? I thought you people didn’t like thieves and bad guys. Why is he popular?”
“He’s good now.” Aziz reminded her, but couldn’t stop the bitterness creeping into his voice as he thought of the crowds praising Jay as he scored yet another goal. All the girls and some guys ooing at him and being utterly charmed as he showed off that he stole their wallets. Or if he executed a pretty decent backflip. The guy looked so cool and attractive no matter what he did. And that bad boy act made him even cooler in everyone’s eyes.
“He’s a good thief like Aladdin,” he remembered hearing someone say and Aziz had burned. Good thief?! Jay wasn’t a good thief! Jay wasn’t stealing things in Auradon because he was hungry or wanted to give to the poor. He stole because he was greedy. Aziz could steal too, Dad taught him the tricks, but when he showed off, he got no applause. They thought he was being inappropriate for a prince of his station.
Or now that Jay was here, it was a second-rate kind of steal. He could steal a watch from someone, but Jay could steal a person’s computer and lunch bag. He got the bigger score.
“People love him and his parkor and stupid tourney goals.” Aziz genuinely growled. He felt his blood pump at how everyone were magnets drawn to his presence while he waited in the wings of the tourney field. They did all the same activities, but Jay was better. People were saying he was equal to Aladdin.
If he was forgettable before Jay came around, now he was just invisible.
And honestly useless compared to Jay. He knew Jordan invited him on this mission because she trusted him and it would be breaking unofficial rule that if one of them went on a life changing save the world adventure, the other had to come too, that was just how things were done. But had he really done anything useful?
No, he had gotten captured. They all had gotten captured but he was the only one who had almost died. Because he was mortal, untrained and weak.
The thoughts came again. Had really been less than a week since he had been in the dungeon? Less than a week but at times he still could feel it as if it had been hours ago.
He could remember it all, some of it was blurred darkness. The only thing registering was that he was in pain. But he remembered the beginning.
Staqauit wasted no time grabbing his throat with one hand and choking him, Chimera and Illusion wrapped their arms around him almost as if they were giving a comforting hug. The thought was quickly diminished as their claws tore through his shirt and dug into his skin, he could feel it, feel the slight curve of their sharpness like a hook that wouldn’t be able to get out. And they didn’t no matter how he fruitlessly thrashed.
But it was only the beginning…
Just as he saw the world fuzz around the edges Staqauit threw him to the ground with Chimera and Illusion still stuck to him.
“Squish” Aziz wanted to scream at the pain that entered his torso and at the sickening sound of his blood squirting out. It felt his insides were dipped into boiling water.
But he didn’t, he stubbornly refused to cry out. He was supposed to be a hero, he would not admit weakness like this. He would use his wits to get out of it.
But he had barely time to think up a clever escape as he vainly scrambled to stop the blood from gushing out more. He didn’t recall any of the princes or his father ever being stabbed mid-battle.
Chimera and Illusion extricated themselves from him, their low voices purring contentedly at the pain wrought.
Aziz tried to get up but he couldn’t. He felt the stabbing pain even though he wasn’t being hit anymore. He couldn’t concentrate. He just felt the agony. He struggled to his feet but the muscles in his legs gave out as he slipped on the puddle of his own blood that was seeping the floor.
“Ah ah ah, you think I’m done with you?” Staqauit’s accented voice sneered, “That was only a minor surface wound.”
Aziz didn’t look at the man. He was too concerned with trying to stand up straight again, but that was for naught when he felt the scraping cement of what seemed to be a boulder dropped on his back.
“Carry this to the other side of the room. Double time.” Staqauit ordered, his rapier scraping the ground in front of Aziz’s face.
Aziz didn’t know why he thought it was a good idea. Perhaps because he truly couldn’t think of what else to do. He rationalized to himself in some irrational way that if he did this, maybe Staqauit would get bored. Maybe he’d survive.  So he did as Staqauit ordered. He tried to lift the boulder.
He felt his hands bleed as they scraped and tensed to keep the boulder steady on his back. Bent down so low that his knees touched his chest. Pressing hard on the wound.
“At least it’s stopped bleeding,” was the sole hysterical thought in his mind. His lungs felt they were burning and just pounding his chest as if to get out of his body. Blood rushed in his ears and the slow smack of Staqauit’s whip on the floor, keeping time, sounded like gunshots to his ears.
He wasn’t breathing right. He knew that. Aziz felt like he had been running for miles. His throat felt the need for oxygen and his eyes watered. But he managed to get one foot forward, his thoughts running wild.
Where were the others? When was Jordan going to come back? For he knew Jordan would come to him the moment she could as she had since he was 4. What if that ruined the mission? That she failed because he was too weak to save himself?
Then his mind took a turn to what he had been suppressing the moment Staqauit got hold of this throat. What if this was it? What if this was how he was going to die?
His knees buckled at the thought and he fell to the ground, allowing the boulder to drop from his back to feel the sting of the whip. This time he didn’t hold back the scream.
That scream was like a whistle for them as Chimera and Illusion pounced, their punches, scratches and kicks indistinguishable from one another.
And there was more…. he remembered the water boarding vaguely but he was glad he mostly blacked out of that, the boulder and the choking was enough for him.
But when he woke up and saw Lala, all he felt was shame that he had to be rescued.
Like every fight, he thought of what he should have done after the confrontation was over. When Staqauit was choking him, he should have kicked him back in the stomach. The stomach area was always a quick disable to an opponent. Staqauit would have let him go and then he could have parkored and fought his way out with the weapons that were stationed around the dungeon.
But he hadn’t done that. He had thrashed and took the assault and hadn’t been able to think up anything on the sly like he knew Jay was infamous for.
With that thought, some defeated admittance slithered into his voice. Not that it was much of a defeat. It was barely a competition when Jay was naturally better and Aziz could never match no matter how hard he tried. “People love him, he’s strong and fast.. everyone wants him or to be like him…..I wish I could be like him too.”
He hated how much it was true.
“Why?” Lala scrunched her nose in confusion.
Aziz sighed, wishing his explanation didn’t sound so pathetic, “I’m forgettable in Auradon. I’m the third in line for the throne so I’m not inheriting the kingdom like all the other guys in my class. And I’m not that talkative. Believe me, in Auradon that is not a good thing if you want people to notice you. Or at least not be forgettable, and Jay can...” he trailed off. He didn’t want to get into the time in the dungeon. She had been there, she knew he was weak.
“And how does Jay fit into this?”
“He’s like me, I guess. Only better in everything. Better thief, better at tourney, more witty, better at flirting. I just blend in...I don’t want that anymore it sucks.”
“Blending in is a good thing. It allows you to skulk and learn your enemies’ tactics so you can ambush them.” Lala said.
“Great. But that’s in the wild. I’m not willing to move to the jungle just so my introvertedness can be an asset.”
“Okay maybe the ambush thing isn’t important but it is still applicable. It’s good that you’re not as outgoing like the others. Look at those people bragging and flirting and trying to garner attention onto themselves, they’re annoying. It’s always them, them, flash and boasts. They would never survive in life because they are always thinking of themselves. They don’t observe their surroundings, they miss the details that could help in the future. Like- like? I know-A fool who does not observe will fail. They will fail and try again and fail and try again. But a person who does take in their surroundings will learn the lesson once and remember it.”
“You don’t dominate the conversation but when you do, it is sensible and important. You don’t waste words. Same with your actions. You don’t talk the talk, you let your actions show how you get things done. I wouldn’t trust those extroverted people with my life. They’re too bold and impulsive and think with their fists. I ca-People can respect you. Trust you. You are genuine, and witty because you think so much, you will be successful later on.”
“I guess so.” Aziz smudged the dirt-packed floor with his foot, watching the sight of a small mealworm that had been habitating there, crawl out, “But it sucks. I get being successful later in life but what about now? In Auradon, no one takes a second look at me. You have to be a really sociable or talented person like Jay to get noticed. I can’t do that. I try but I- And, and what about in the dungeon, my observation skills gave me nothing! If I act a little more like Jay maybe I wouldn’t be the weak link needing to be rescued.”  Aziz blurted out.
Lala didn’t speak and Aziz cringed, staring at the ground. But the silence was growing so long he had to look back to gauge her reaction and saw Lala was waiting for him to look at her.
Then she spoke, “You didn’t escape but you did survive. That takes a special inner strength especially when your enemies wish to demoralize and destroy you. And it is useless to ponder what others would have done when they weren’t been in the situation. You did what you could, and if you are so concerned about your aptitude, I’ll teach you. You have the strength, you need to practice better technique. Stop the self pity it’s a disgusting habit.”
Aziz tried to protest, but felt himself only mouthing the words as a damn nervous blush starting crawling up his neck. He still felt like he should have done better but he appreciated Lala’s words. He knew she held herself and almost everyone else on the standard of their physical skill and made it known when she thought someone was weak. For her to claim that he was strong even after she healed him, rescued him and saw him beaten bloody and battered, it meant something.
And what she was about to say earlier? That little slip-up. She respected him. He hadn’t thought earning her respect was something he had wanted, but as she said it.. he felt so good that he did.
“As for the others, fuck them.” Lala interrupted, “Isn’t Auradon a place  where you’re not supposed to be shallow? See beyond first impressions and get to know them? If they don’t do that, fuck them. You shouldn’t even be complaining that people don’t notice you because it means to ones who do, actually care. You’re less outgoing than others. It’s not your fault that they don’t try to see beyond.”
Lala was still talking but Aziz stopped listening. What she said, “It’s not your fault” hit him like a sandstorm. The images of his attempts to try to be better. More funny. More entertaining. More talented. More outgoing. Things that people would want to talk to him like they gathered around his father or around Chad and the other royals.
Yet he was outshone by someone better. His constant overthinking working against him as he talked, praying that he didn’t look like he was trying too hard as he was. Praying that he wasn’t going to be forgettable to people. He failed. He wondered what was so wrong with him that made him invisible. He wondered how people like Lonnie and Jordan could insist he was so fun to be around when he couldn’t make his presence known when he was in the room with the likes of Jay.
But it wasn’t entirely his fault. He was born to be more of a listener than a doer. He preferred being one on one with people. He couldn’t change that. But he could accept it. He could accept that he was never going to be the star of the room and that people may not give him a second glance.
If so, then fuck them. Because it was true. If they could write him off as just forgettable, then he didn’t need their attention anyway.
His shoulder moved and he snapped back to realize he had zoned out in front of Lala. He felt a blush crawl up his neck, making him flush more. He hated how obviously red it was against his olive skin. “Sorry I- I was listening. You really.. I realized..I mean. You’re right. You’re absolutely right, Lala. You don’t know how much I needed to hear that. Thank you.” He leaned forward to hug her but held back. Touchy-feely was not the norm on the Isle, but he felt so grateful for her words that it felt wrong just to say thanks. So he settled for leaning close and smiling. He was pretty sure it was the smile of an idiot but he did it anyway. The nice thing was Lala gave a small-closed lip smile in return and roughly booped his nose.
“I know you needed it. Anyone who is considering to act more like Jay needs to be talked off the deep end.”
Feeling a bit more generous now that he was coming around to accepting he didn’t need to be as cool as Jay to be noticed, Aziz snapped back into psychologist mode, trying to see his observances of Jay through a more objective, less jealous lens.
Not that he had much time to observe Jay since he got hypnotized which was surely a traumatic betrayal on its own since it came from his father’s snake staff. Which spoke to how uncaring and domineering Jafar must be as a father if he felt the need to control his son.
“I don’t know. I think Jay is more than the impulsive idiot you take him for. I believe it's just a facade he puts up.” Aziz mused “To annoy people? It works.” Lala rolled her eyes.
“What went down between you that you hate him so much?” Aziz asked.
“I don’t hate him, I dislike him. He’s annoying. He stole my spears for himself, he thinks he’s so great he tries to fight Mabaya on his own and almost gets both of us killed because again, he took my weapons and then broke them! What idiot tries to chuck a spear out a charging elephant? It does nothing. If he had to throw the spear, he should have aimed at a vital joint or his eye at least. I can’t respect such idiocy.” Lala huffed.
“I understand but he was a bit out of his element in the jungle and it is his fall-back to try to boast and impress. Usually people who do that are trying to hide something.” Aziz said. Then he thought of a saying of his mother. It was a bit of what Vks called, sentimental Auradon crap, but he felt it should be said, “Sometimes we only see how people are different from us. But if you look hard enough, you can see how we are all like.”
“Whatever.” Lala yawned.
“What happened to not judging people? Look beyond the surface.” Aziz teased.
“That was for you. I’m a bad person, I don’t need to follow that rule.” Lala sniffed haughtily.
It would have been so easy to take that as another little joke in their back and forth, but his observing skills struck again. She sounded haughty but her eyes were downcast, and considering what she said that she was too like her mother… she felt it was true.
“You’re not exactly like your mother, you know. I don’t think so at least” Aziz said softly in case Lala didn’t want to broach the subject and could pretend to ignore him.
“I know I’m not exactly like her. I’m only as close to her as she allows me to be. She’s always one step ahead.” Lala muttered, not looking at him. “If I was like her she’d have me be the princess of Opar. But I’m not good enough for that. Not like Tarzan’s children.” “I don’t know Tarzan’s children that well but I don’t think Queen La would find them worthy heirs. I never saw Kerchak swing from a tree or pick up a sharp object in my life. And Victoria-”
“No. Not Tarzan and Jane’s children. Tarzan and my mom’s. The ones she’s planning to have in the future. They don’t even exist and I’m not as good as them according to her because I got one stupid scar and I’m claustrophobic.” Lala scowled, smacking the ground in anger of her own weaknesses.
“You seem to be handling your claustrophobia.” Aziz encouraged.
“As long as I don’t think about it. That’s why I study so hard. It’s because it takes my mind off where I am, not because it requires my intense study. Trust me. But at night…” Lala inhaled deeply and tensed, “I hate this place. I miss the fresh air and space. Every time someone closes the door, I feel like it's going to be lock with this air that-” She inhaled deeply again.
“Let’s go to a window,” Aziz suggested motioning to leave the room. Lala took the offer eagerly and they bounded up the stairs to Lala’s room, the leopard men obediently behind them.
Lala threw open the windows to the balcony and breathed deeply. A blissful smile enveloped her features as her body relaxed. The wind was out today, and unlike Auradon, this wasn’t a refreshing light breeze. On the Isle, when the wind blew, it blew like a gust and Aziz was impressed that Lala stood straight without bending to its battering assult. But it fit her. Lala was the person who could stand strong against natural forces. Her face perfectly serene as the wind whipped her white braid about and ruffled her long sleeves.
Aziz stood next to her, keeping a hand to the side of his face as the gusts constantly pushed his bangs into his eyes and mouth and became a general nuisance. “I don’t think you’re exactly like your mom. Not just because you can’t live to her caliber.  You’re not shallow considering you speak to a guy who hasn’t rung any animal by his neck. Despite your wish for a kingdom, I don’t think, at least I’m guessing, you don’t have a real desire to lord over others like a tyrant.”
“From what I’ve observed, and I’m a pretty good observer if I say so myself. You’re reserved because you know that’s the way to survive. But I also think it speaks to how genuine you are. You don’t deal with bullshit, if you respect a person you show it, if you don’t, you don’t. A little blunt but honesty is better than fakery. You seem to actually like learning and challenging yourself with the Atlantean magic. You laughed at my jokes which shows you have a brilliant sense of humor... And despite what you say, you did care about your siblings. You can’t live up to her mom and her imaginary children? Then fuck her. You’re pretty formidable by yourself. You’d be successful as a warrior or a priestess or whatever. You’d have awesome adventures no matter what you do because you’re a badass warrior princess.``
Although she wasn’t looking at him, he could tell she was listening. He could see the corner of her mouth twitching up and down, fighting a smile. So he decided to return the favor and nose boop her to get her attention.
She batted his hand away but a small laugh escaped her lips. “Badass warrior princess. Hmm you observed me very well.”
“Eh little observations here and there, some is just gut instinct. Some people may think a person’s reserve is them being stuck up but I get your’s is more than that.” Aziz coughed as a piece of his hair blew into his mouth.
“People may think you’re forgettable, but I understand you’re more of an observer.” Lala pursed her lips, catching her braid as it flew to hit Aziz’s cheek.
Aziz rubbed his cheek, his mother’s saying popping into his head again. He shrugged, feeling oddly self-conscious and nervous about repeating the quote. Which was weird because he said it about Jay just a few minutes before. But saying it, to Lala, seemed more..more meaningful somehow.
No, he was overthinking all of this again so Aziz ignored it, “Sometimes we only see how people are different from us. But if you look hard enough, you can see how we are all like.”
Lala smiled at him and there was something.. a something in the air. Energy, a vibe, he wasn’t sure but it made the fact that even though they were in the blustery air, he felt as if he were enclosed in a small world between the two of them.  Time to change the subject then!  “So speaking of observing, I haven’t really had the chance to do it around here much, but isn’t it fascinating to watch the people here?” Aziz asked. People watching was his go to subject for most conversations. Not that many people had much to contribute. People watching was not a thing most people engaged in which he thought was a shame. It was the most fun ever! People  had such weird idiosyncrasies even when they did a normal thing like walking past whether it was an odd head bop or having feet pointed in first position or the like.  Lala shrugged and Aziz nodded understandingly. He knew the topic wouldn’t probably go anywhere but then...“What's people watching?”  “Oh it’s this thing where you just sit and watch random people. You know observe their habits, stuff that they do.” Aziz sighed. It was a lot more interesting action than in explanation.  “Oooh!” Lala nodded understandingly, “Like observing your prey and enemies. I’ve done that lots of times. It’s entertaining.”  Aziz’s eyes widened, “You think it’s fun too!”
Lala looked at him as if he was crazy for suggesting otherwise, “Yes. It’s a useful skill and people do such weird stuff.”
“Such weird stuff!” Aziz said at the same time, and then he tried to dial down the enthusiasm in his voice when Lala made the “calm down” sign, snorting at his excitement.  “Remember when we were at Gaston’s bar and that Hun guy was fighting Stanley? I noticed in other fights that he does this thing with his head.. ugh I can’t describe it. But like he’d almost twist his...”  ———————————————————————————————
That had been three days ago and they almost talked for an hour when Kaj II growled his warning that Queen La was arriving and Aziz had to swing off the balcony and climb against the wall to the correct balcony that would lead to Jade’s room.
Not that he had realized it but in hindsight, that might have been the moment he developed a crush on the warrior princess. Ever since then, he just… he just wanted to be around her a little more compared to the others. He wanted to hear more about her opinions or stories or anything she had to say.
And whenever she smiled at his jokes even if she rolled her eyes because it was corny, he felt like he won a tourney victory or something. And she was so..so graceful. Not cat-like graceful but beautiful, every move she makes was stunning.
Not that he allowed himself to think about it too much. There were more important things at stake like saving the world, and if he thought about how he had a crush on Lala then he’d get self-conscious and nervous and he didn’t want that. Their friendship was just fine for him. He was even teaching her monkey.
Not that it was any of Jordan’s business.
“It’s not important.” Aziz said.
“It better not be. You can try to deny it but I can see that “Can you feel the love tonight” nonsense from a mile away. Why don’t you just forget crushing on mermaids and.. and maybe a nice girl from Agrabah. Or a nice boy. You had such a good time with Mena, remember.”
“Mena was...Honestly Mena was the only guy I.. I can’t. I keep comparing other men to him which is— Can we not talk about him?” Aziz growled, partly from the memory of his sole boyfriend who had used him for the status of dating a prince and had been cheated on him the whole time, and partly because Jordan was bringing him up even though she knew it was a touchy subject.
“I know he didn’t work out but it’s like you told me, you can’t give up on the whole male population because of one cheating boyfriend. Cheating would be nothing compared to this. This crush is a mistake.” Jordan huffed.
“Why is it a mistake exactly?” Aziz raised an eyebrow at Jordan’s judgemental attitude. Usually she was all for Aziz meeting someone and start planning their dates even though her tastes were a bit extravagant like setting off fireworks when he leaned in for a kiss.
“I get the appeal, really. She was a mysterious stranger swinging on a vine. But she’s the same stranger who broke Calix’s arm! He’s lucky that he has magic on his side and could heal the arm that she broke. If he was mortal, he’d be doomed. There’s no hospitals here, we’d have to cut it off.”
“That’s not how unattended broken arms work, Jordan.” Aziz rubbed his temples at her wildly dramatic reasons why having a crush on Lala would be bad, “It doesn’t matter, I’m not going to do anything when there are more important things at stake.”
“I know. I’m just saying you shouldn’t even pursue this when we get back to Auradon. Think about, Aziz. Really think about it. Imagine what would happen if you even got together? She’s the daughter of Queen La. Allah knows that if she got jealous, she’d murder the other person and kill you for looking a for wandering eyes.” Jordan said.
“Then I guess you both have something in common.” Aziz said sarcastically, “Like when you sent your ex a box of scorpions when you found him cheating on you.”
“That’s completely different! He deserved it! You don’t deserve to feel pain. I’m telling you it’s not good to act on love at first sight.”
“Love at first sight?” Aziz scoffed. Did she not even know him? They always joked about people who thought they fell in love at first sight.
Sure, for some it was true. Auradon was practically built on it but more often than not it could lead to a very difficult marriage. That’s why Snow White took that job as a reporter so she wouldn’t be around King Florian so much.
Jordan should know him better, he may get a crush at first glance, but he wouldn’t act on it unless he was sure there was more.
“I’m not in love with her. I’m not doing anything with her.”
“You’re hanging out with her!” Jordan cried.
“I’m also hanging out with Jade. With your logic, I could be crushing on her. She’s clever, she’s daring, we have things in common, we can do parkour together. Plus she’s the daughter of one of our families’ enemies. Star crossed lovers and all that. It’s a perfect fairytale romance.” Aziz breathlessly mocked.
“Jade is not… she wouldn’t use you like Lala.”
“She’s a Vk, who says Jade wouldn’t.” Aziz pointed out.
“Jade’s like you and me.” Jordan defended lamely.
“How? What? Because she’s descended from Agrabahians?” Aziz cried. He knew she could be judgemental and superficial but really? This?
“No. I mean technically yeah but no. She and Jay. She cares about him. They’re like us.” Jordan said meaningfully, grasping his hands and looking lovingly in his eyes in a way that made Aziz feel small and childish.
He hated it when she got like this. Acting like she was so much more worldly and knowing because she was a genie. She had a duty to protect him, the poor sheltered mortal prince who didn’t know any better or understand the morally grey areas of life. He survived torture in the damn dungeon!
Which now that he thought about it, beyond the hug Jordan hadn’t asked him a single thing about the incident. It seemed to have completely slipped her mind. Yeah, she cared about his safety. But for all the wrong reasons.
“So? If that was true then why don’t you trust Jay if his bond with Jade is so much like our bond.” Aziz asked, pointing out the hole in her little argument.
“Well um I, Jay’s Jay’s complicated and I mean I don’t distrust him, it’s just after he said that thing about me giving..”
The epiphany dawned on Aziz before Jordan finished her sentence. How could he not have realized it before? It was all Jordan ever worried about.
“It’s because Jade hasn’t asked you for wishes and Lala has. That’s it.”
“She probably figured out that I’d back out of my promise so she’s trying to use you so you could convince me to give her wishes!” Jordan cried like a detective solving a case with her convoluted logic.
“And you think she’s going to seduce me to do that? Do you have so little trust in me?” Aziz used the calm steely tone that he knew would annoy her most. Not only did she act like he was a sheltered, naive mortal but a weak willed one too.
“NO no I do trust you! I know you would never intentionally do that to me. But I don’t want you to get hurt just because she’s manipulating you to get to me!” Jordan screamed, stamping her foot childishly that he was not giving into her.
“How self-absorbed can you get? Jordan, the world doesn’t revolve around you and your powers. Is it such a crazy thought that she might actually fall for me?” Aziz matched his volume to hers.
“Why wouldn’t she want me? I have phenomenal cosmic power and convenience for everyone. A lamp that forces me to obey their desires. You can’t offer her that. You’re just..you.”
Aziz stared at her, the sentence hitting him like a gut punch. He couldn’t believe Jordan of all people was saying this to him. She was the one who always helped him out on dates and assured him that anyone would fall in love with him after
….Maybe all that helping out wasn’t just from the goodness of her heart? It was because she secretly thought he couldn't get a girl on his own. Why would he with his so few talents? He wasn’t debenoir or charming enough like Jay. He wasn’t going to inherit the throne like other princes. What did he have to offer that the other boys at Auradon Prep couldn’t offer or even top? All he had was a genie friend who’d make “a whole new world”  dates.
Moreover, it hurt. His best friend in the world also thought that he wasn’t good enough on his own. She thought he needed her to survive through life and love and all those trials.
Now he was glad he told Lala how he felt ignored. Clearly his so-called “best friend/wingwoman/sister” was too oblivious and selfish to comfort him. Not even that. She secretly shared everyone else’s opinion that he was forgettable!
“Me? What does that-“ Aziz snarled.
“I-I just don’t want you to spend so much time with her.” Jordan seemed to sense his anger and began backtracking, “You know I don’t have a lot of people to hang out with. So many people just want me for my wishes. You-you don’t want to use me. You’re my best friend. That’s why I need you. After everything I’ve done for you, all I’m asking is for you to be my friend.” Aziz heard her but didn't listen, her hurtful words still ringing in his ears. Besides that was completely unbelievable. She was afraid of losing him? That was a ridiculous idea and she knew that. If she was going to lie to his face, she could try to make it believable!
And what? It wasn’t like he owed her for everything she had done for him. That wasn’t how friendship worked! He didn’t ask her to do things and join adventures. She did it herself because she was his friend.
Or he had thought it was because they were sibling/friends. Apparently it was because she believed he needed her.
“You need me around forever to sooth your constant paranoid insecurity. I get it.” Aziz rolled his eyes sarcastically.
“It’s not a paranoid insecurity. It’s a fact.” Jordan claimed.
“Jordan, have you ever thought, maybe the reason people will only look at you for your wishes is because your general personality is unbearable to deal with. That’s why no one wants to be your friend. There’s nothing likable to be friends with but thank Allah, at least if they hang around long enough they’ll get wishes out of you.” Aziz snapped.
Jordan froze, clearly hurt by the sound of the crack in her voice, “Do you feel that way too?”
Aziz didn’t give himself time to think. She didn’t deserve any amount of comfort from him after what she just said. She didn’t need to act like she knew everything about life and treat him like an incapable, forgettable mortal. That was what he was to her, a mortal. And he knew from all their talks together just how little she respected mortals. And apparently he was no exception.
“Yes, sometimes I do.”
For a brief eerie moment, the wind was sucked out of the room and silence reigned. Oppressive, weighty silence that he could literally feel pressing against his chest and head and the rest of his body. He began to wonder if he should try to escape, that Jordan was about to do something they’d both regret.
“GET OUT!!” Jordan screamed.
“I can’t get out. You control your lamp.” Aziz hissed through his teeth to keep from yelling again.
“Fuck you.” The sight of Jordan giving him the finger was his last vision before pink smoke and sand fogged up his view and he rudely fell to the floor.
He glared at the lamp, imagining its arrogant, selfish, all knowing, cosmic occupant pacing the floor, creating a mini sand storm in her anger. Fine.
“Fuck you too.”

Loony Two’s Writing Challenge Prompt 1: The Captain’s Heart
Adam sighed as he walked off L’appel de L’océan, his pride and joy, well except Ben, but as far as earthly possession’s went his ship was his one true love. Ben was his son and Adam loved him more than anyone else on the earth. Since Belle had passed away Ben was really the only person he had outside the crew. He sighs as he goes about the dock his First Mate had taken Ben and he was making sure the ship was fully supplied and stocked before they left again, though first Adam would need to find them a job to do. So while Jean showed Ben the ins and outs of managing L’apple de L’Ocean, Adam was walking abroad the boards of the dock looking about for his typical contacts that gathered information on jobs.
“Oiy, Adam, over ‘ere!” A loud voice calls. Adam looks over to see it’s the dock master Uma, who’d taken over for her father some years ago, and had a rather aggressive temperament due to her mother who’d run off into the sea or so her father claimed. She was a fine Dockmaster, and she had her own ship and crew so Adam felt no urge to argue given she kept everything inline, at least here at the docks.
“Yes, Uma? Is there something I can help with?” Adam asks and she snickers, she nods and waves him closer as she turns to start walking away. Adam jogs up and starts walking by her, she’s roughly Ben’s age but he had known her for quite some time, her age wasn’t an issue, some might think her gender was, her First Mate was quick to deal with those fools though, luckily she kept him restrained for the most part. Harry was hot tempered and given what Adam knew of the Captain that was his father it was no small wonder he was.
“Depends on if you find his pay well enough worth it. He says he’s never been out to sea it makes him nervous supposedly like setting foot into a kingdom as an opposing Lord. His words too, I can take you to meet him if you’re interested in the job?” Uma says and Adam shrugs.
“Depends on the pay but I’ll transport him wherever he’d like to go so long as the pay justifies the distance.” Adam says and she nods and leads him to a seedier bar on the docks and they go to a dim corner where a candle burns a blue flame and a sullen looking man sits playing with a small blue stone he glances there  way and pulls up a neutral face as he sits up hand closing around the stone.
“Dockmaster.” He greets looking wearily at Adam. Uma takes a seat and Adam follows suit the stranger wears dark colors and was on the paler side, his eyes catch Adam though, they seem to shift between blue and grey.
“Hades. This is Adam Florian. He’s Captain of L’apple de L’ocean. He’s looking for a new job for his ship and crew and he’s been known to help transport people as well as cargo. He might take your job, I’ll leave you two to talk it over. Play nice on my docks.” She walks away and Hades looks at Adam with a curious look. He rolls the stone through his fingers and takes a deep breath.
“So she found a french man... Great...” Hades sighs looking around nervously it would seem but Adam can see this man isn’t nervous though he should be in this bar. Though the man’s name and choice to remark on his nationality makes Adam twitch.
“Is that a problem?” He asks and Hades shakes his head, then shrugs.
“Depends, it could be good or bad. are you superstitious?” Hades asks and Adam scoffs shaking his head grinning.
“Most sailors tend to be. Depends... Are you asking if I refuse to go to certain ports and waters, or are you asking if I believe in the Underworld?” Adam asks and Hades glares and his eyes flicker a fiery blue.
“Don’t mock me, Florian, you were cursed to be a Beast, I’ve been to the Moors, that fay was a grudge bearing hypocrite but if you don’t temper that pride you’ll end up pissing off another fay, or someone worse.” Hades growls and Adam straightens in his seat paling.
“Alright... You’re well informed.” Adam says and Hades chuckles.
“I never forget a name. She was gloating how you’d be doomed to a beast forever as you were such an arrogant ass and now that your appearance matched your heart you’d be beastly forever and blah de dah... I was there for... A vacation from my duties. I’m going there to pick up my daughter. I need your help to go there so I can meet her, and get back safely.” Hades says Adam pursed his lips and leans in.
“You mean to tell me you’re The Hades and what, your daughter is in danger from who, your wife?” Adam asks incredulous and Hades laughs and smiles all white teeth and fire in his eyes.
“No! Well, yes I am The King of The Underworld, but Perse wouldn’t hurt anyone I care about, not intentionally. Hera on the other hand... I’m married thus she thinks I should look no where but at my wife. She’s a testy one got angry being married to my pig brother. Can’t blame her but I’m already not the favorite in Olympus, I don’t need more reason for them to lash out at me.” Hades says leaning back in his chair his hair spills out of his hood and Adam notes it’s bone white.
“Alright... Hades... I’ll humor you. I can take you to the Moors. What can we expect if we do catch attention?” Adam asks and Hades looks pale and he shrugs. He looks down and then to the side.
“That I’m afraid I don’t know. I can tell you I don’t want to go out on a ship but Poseidon agreed I could use the seas to hide Mal for a bit as that is his dominion, I just need to tell him the ship he needs to keep afloat. I’m not looking forward to this; I’ve never been out to sea. Only crossed the five Infernal rivers... I might be able to swim but I’ve never enjoyed being on large bodies of water. So my job for you captain is to get me to the Moors, then get me and Mal to Taenarum, well the cape near it... Mal and I can get to the gate I’ll take her through from there.” Hades says and Adam sees the man shift his gaze and clutch tighter to his stone.
“Hades... Odd to see you here.” A smooth voice says and Adam glanced over to see a large tan man slide into a seat at the table hair a smooth rich brunette and sees how Hades goes rigid.
“I came to visit Poseidon. So I’m securing a Captain and his ship to get out to sea. He insisted I come and see his newest daughter.” Hades says smooth and nonchalant. Zeus snickers and looks Hades over.
“A bold choice for him, why weren’t you at Olympus when he brought her?” He asks and Adam gets an odd itch to hit the man something in his general demeanor and bearing bothered him.
“I was away looking into several natural disasters that could lead to an influx to my kingdom. So Adam, I’ve got plenty of wealth to give you and your crew if you could be so kind as to get me out to him?” Hades asks and Adam nods sensing Hades wants out of the conversation.
“Aye we can cast off once my son and quarter master get back after making sure we’re seaworthy. Knowing Lumiere he’ll have the ship ready in the morning and no later unless heaven and hell move to stop him, even then he’s a tenacious man, he’ll get around it.” Adam says rising and Hades nods.
“Then I’ll meet you on the docks later.” He says and Adam nods and leaves hearing bits of the conversation as he goes he can tell Hades is uncomfortable and he almost wants to stay at the least to encourage the other to be some semblance of polite. He hears several remarks on how Hades must not be very welcome here and a few more... Cutting comments on Hades in general.
It’s a couple hours later and Adam is walking back from a tavern further inland after a nice hot meal and some revelry with s few crewmen. He’s sees a few women in rather revealing dresses and passes by not interested in what they’re selling. They flirt with him but none follow, until he passes a darker alley and a lone woman steps out smiling at him with painted rose red lips.
“Hello there handsome... Care for a bit of rest and relaxation?” She purrs and he paused, she’s blocking his path forward and he sighs.
“I’m sorry mademoiselle, but I’ve a heart for only one mistress and that’s the sea. Might I pass?” He asks and she pouts.
“A handsome man like you doesn’t want any company?” She teases moving in closer and Adam moves back to a wall and leans back and away from the woman.
“I’d rather not. I’m not interested I’m afraid, my wife though she passed still holds my heart and interest.” Adam says getting agitated he fights to hold his temper down. He holds his hands up and gently keeps her at arms length.
“Ah, but surely you’ve desires? You’d deny yourself that comfort?” She asks pouting and He grits his teeth.
“Ma’am, I am sorry to tell you but you’d not get a response from me, only my Belle could. If you’ll excuse me I’ve a crew to check on aboard my ship.” Adam says and she pouts and moves back hands sliding to her hips as he turns he doesn’t expect the sudden pain in his shoulder, he bellows in rage some of the lingering Beast comes out in the roar and he turns sharply nails darkening as they lengthen to claws.
“I suggest you halt there Missy, you see I need his help and I’m not above a bit of violence tonight.” Hades says and Adam looks to see the dark stone alight in fire in Hades’ hand Adam snarls as the woman runs off and Hades grabs his arms quenches the flames and pulls Adam along through twisting paths until they’re at the docks. Uma is walking but stops staring at them. Hades speaks first.
“He got stabbed, can you help him?” He asks Uma nods and starts using her rarely used magic to treat the stab first washing it then healing it. Adam relaxes slowly and smiles at her.
“Thank you Uma, and thank you for getting me out of that Hades.” He says Hades shrugs awkward with praise he looks away. Uma helps Adam stand from the barrel he’d been sat on as Hades manhandled him.
“So, you got uncomfortable need any other help or is it just to the Moors than the little cape of Greece?” Adam asks and Hades sighs.
“Just that... L’appel de L’ocean, right? She’s yours?” Hades asks and Adam grins wide, his kingdom and castle.
“Yes, she’s my soul, Belle’s got my heart unless she wills it to another.” Adam says and Hades paused remembering Adam’s comment to the harlot.
“She was your wife. I’m sorry for your loss.” Hades says and Adam shrugs looking at the gold band at his hand.
“She left this world a couple years ago. No need to feel sorry for me. Just kindly don’t mention it around Ben. He still misses her, I do too I won’t lie but seeing that look on his face isn’t something I like seeing.” Adam says and a man walks up long black hair and a wide grin on his face as he does a spin and flourished bow to Uma then looks at Hades.
“Hello, Dockmaster! Lovely to see you! Alright Hades, you said this was important and Hera can’t find out until you know she can look after herself so... What ship am I paying special attention to?” He asks and Adam realizes this must be Poseidon.
“L’appel de L’ocean. It’s Adam Florian’s ship.” Hades says gesturing to the Captain and the tall tan man glances to Adam and grins.
“You’re the one that has that white stallion Phillip! Aye you’ve my word the waters will be fine and fair for your voyage. Also I’ll apologize in advance for how terribly Hades is gonna handle this.” Poseidon says and Adam chuckles as Hades shooed the other away.
The next morning Hades is near the ship looking at it nervously and he boards looking unsteady on his feet and the crew all grins and teases good naturally as they bustle about getting the ship  ready to cast off. Adam watches the sick look on Hades only get worse the further they get out until Hades is retching off the side of the ship.
Adam hands off the wheel to Ben and goes and grabs Hades by the arm and moves him with him as he does several tasks with some of the crew who give sympathetic smiles to Hades who just tries to focus on breathing and some of the things Adam shows him. Eventually Adam has Hades actually walking the ship though he wobbles a bit he isn’t stumbling like he’s drunk and isn’t as constantly sick.
Ben’s a great help side tracking the god and having him tell him stories of Greek myth and legend though eventually as well studied as Ben is it leads to questions that Hades wanted to avoid. He’d been spinning tales most of the day non-busy crew members would stop and listen making comments on the stories and Hades views on them. Ben grows curious and asks about the Titans and Hades goes green.
“Yes... They exist... Thankfully locked in Tartarus. I...” He turns lurching to the side of the ship and retching gasping as his head and eyes are swimming and the voices in his ears are screaming and the water below isn’t helping it’s dark and he starts shivering. Adam asks Lumiere to make some ginger tea and pulls Hades to his quarters and has him focus on knot work as typically it helped him to focus on something with his hands if he felt unwell. He talks with Hades trying to keep his mind preoccupied and Ben comes down with the tea looking sheepish.
“Don’t worry about it. Bad memories haunt you, it’s the way it is.” Hades says shrugging and Ben nods eyes growing distant and Hades winced and asks if Ben had heard of Icarus and launches into the tale when Ben shakes his head looking curious.
The next few days it’s Hades moving about trying to not get sick and the crew giving him things to do to keep him somewhat okay rather than full blown seasick. It’s only a few more days when Ben decides he’ll start an old song he used to hear constantly. It brings smiles to the crew who join in and soon everyone but Hades and Adam are singing. Eventually the crew and Ben go silent pointedly staring up at Adam who’s at the helm manning the wheel and staring forward. Hades is near him staring at the setting sun though now he’s looking over curious. Adam sighs before taking a deep breath.
“Tout seul, Tu t'en iras tout seul, Coeur ouvert, A l'univers, Poursuis ta quete, Sans regarder derriere, N'attends pas, Que le jour se leve..” Adam sings the crew and Ben smile as they burst into the next verse Adam smiling as he sings along and Hades watches smiling softly himself enjoying the way Adam looks so peaceful though how and why the man loves being out on open water Hades will never understand. The french words sound nice and Hades watches Adam admiring the man as he watches him sing. He can’t stay on his feet the sway of the ship makes him unsteady and he’d learned that just makes him sicker so he sits on a crate and crosses his arms over the banister watching the sun sink into the ocean and listening to the song until he falls asleep smiling.
Adam later carries the sleeping god to the quarters he’s bunked in and lays him down smiling as a hand snags his the half asleep man mummers something in greek goes bright red and lets him go his eyes going wide as he quickly rolls over and covers his head with his pillow.
“I’ll just assume it was a compliment.” Adam chuckles and goes to walk out as Hades grumbles into his pillow is hair flickering at the ends with blue flame. “Please don’t light my ship on fire.” He calls shutting the door on a muffled scream into the earlier mentioned pillow.  He chuckles as he goes to his own quarters and Hades smiles softly into the pillow. Maybe, this, wasn’t so bad. Adam laid down and chuckles the misgivings about the job at the starts gone. He almost looks forward to the next couple of days. Both men fall asleep smiling.

Descendants AU with this. The villains poured all of their remaining strength into creating a curse that would cause Ben to die on the night before his 21st birthday or something. There isn’t a cure they know of, but there’s some really cryptic message written in the Fae language that has no direct translation to anything in any human language although Fairy Godmother says it’s loosely “an act of union”, so they assume it’s an act of true love.
One day when they’re about 12, Chad runs into the castle yelling about how Ben just accidentally got slightly scratched by a sword gifted to Chad by Mulan, and they run out to find Audrey sobbing on the steps with him laying unconscious. Then he sits up and the perhaps minimized “slight scratch” vanishes and Audrey is wiping the streaked mascara from her lashes.
Belle and Adam tell the three young royals about Ben’s curse.
“So what you’re saying is I’m practical immortal for eight more years?”
“We think but we wouldn’t want to-”
Ben yells “YOLO!” and jumps out the third story window into rose bushes below.
“-tempt fate.”
“I’m fine!”
He immediately sets out for Arendelle, Northuldra, and Ahtohallan to have Elsa hit him with ice magic then goes up to see all of his ancestors in ice sculpture form. He finds the recipe the Evil Queen used to make her poison apples, and bakes them into a pie. He visits Merida in Dunbroch and asks if Mor’du is still around. Chad and Lonnie egg him on, Doug and Jane try to stop him, and Audrey cries every time he gets hurt even though he keeps telling her he’s fine.
This goes on for a couple years, then Adam tells him he’s going to have to stop jumping out of planes without parachutes if he wants to become king and be serious. Ben then tries to donate both of his kidneys (Belle firmly puts her foot down on that one) and tells doctors at the local research hospital that they can inject him with whatever they want because he’ll survive it, and he wants them to learn.
His antics have also made it into the news a few times, which a very frazzled royal PR team dismisses as him having beast blood.
We arrive at the events of the first movie. “Dad, I’ve decided to bring over four kids from the Isle of the Lost.”
“The children of our sworn enemies? Living among us?”
“What are they gonna do? Kill me?”
“They might try to take down the country.”
“Then I’ll tell them they’ll have to come through me first.”
They don’t let him tell the VKs about the curse, in fear that they’ll try to manipulate him somehow. Mal eventually connects the dots after hearing Hades talk about this kid prince who has cheated death over a thousand times now...plus she saw Ben drink a vial of poison for kicks and giggles and that helped confirmed it. He tells them the truth after Maleficent wrecks the coronation.
“Let me save you next time!”
“Ben, let’s not let there be a next time.”
“No but if there is...let me protect you. I kinda can’t die for five more years.”
Uma threatens to drown him and he laughs in her face. Harry says he’ll hook him, and Ben talks about the time he juggled chainsaws. Gil replies by saying he’s juggled eggs before, but his papa got real mad when he dropped them.
It’s Goin Down is also a lot more chill, because tbh Mal isn’t that worried about Ben’s safety, except she’s not entirely sure if his curse still works on the Isle, or if it’ll still be effective once they leave. It does, which he proves by throwing himself out of the limo and into the ocean on their way back. Once she finds out she can shapeshift into a dragon, she and Ben totally sneak out to go do flying tricks.
Audrey is even more determined to marry him in this plotline, because she knows that after he turns 21, either his wife will rule Auradon or else his parents will, however none of her threats as evil Audrey really scare him that much because he knows she can’t hurt him, and he knows that she knows it too.
The only thing that has really scared Ben since hearing about his curse is meeting Hades after the barrier came down.
After the events of Descendants 3, Ben has been so busy with wedding planning, helping all the villains find new homes, and supervising relationships between the heros and their respective villains that he doesn’t have time to do his usual stuff. Ben, Mal, and their families go for a cake tasting, and suddenly Ben is laying on the floor, struggling to breathe. Everyone but Hades and Maleficent ignore him.
“Not that I particularly want you to marry that, but don’t you think eating dessert while he can’t breathe is a bit harsh?” Maleficent asks.
“Yeah, and I’m kinda off the clock right now so if you guys want to save him...” Hades tells them.
“Oh he’s fine, he can’t die until he turns 21.”
“Dear, the curse broke months ago.” It turns out the act of union was uniting Auradon and the Isle, and Ben is extremely allergic to hazelnuts but never got tested as a kid.

A Royal Wedding (Bal)
Requested by @geekgrl123: Mal and Ben wedding; anything Carlos/Jane (I combined the two requests)
Not even five minutes after the barrier was lowered and all the villain kids came to Auradon, Evie was bouncing to Mal asking about the wedding.
“Now that all the VKs can get their happy ending, it’s time to start planning yours!” Evie squealed, dragging Mal and Uma to her castle to show them the plans she had created when Mal and Ben first got together.
Mal just rolled her eyes, but went along with it. It was useless to fight Evie when it was about a royal wedding, something she had been dreaming about since she was a little girl.
Life leading up to graduation (and subsequently the wedding) was hectic and passed by too quickly, Mal thought. From wedding dress fittings to studying for final exams, Mal didn’t have a spare moment. During her dress fittings, Uma was right there, holding up pictures of flower arrangements, centerpieces, color schemes, and more for Mal to approve for the wedding.
Mal and Uma had been getting along really well since the barrier was taken down, though they both knew it would take a while for them to ever get back to friendship they had when they were little, if they ever got back there at all.
“So do you want to have a circle arrangement or straight rows?” Uma asked, holding up two pictures of seating charts.
Mal looked over the two options, rolling her eyes in her mind, because really? This was important for a wedding?
“I guess- Ow!” Mal was cut off. “You just stuck me, Evie!”
“Sorry! I guess it’s not a good idea to try and pin-up a dress and sketch ideas for the bridesmaid dresses at the same time.”
“Yeah, I guess not,” Mal chuckled, turning her attention back to the photos Uma was still holding in front of her.
“Like I was going to say before I was so rudely stuck with a pin, the straight rows would be better. I don’t need people staring at me from all angles. Plus, I don’t want random people in the background of my pictures,” Mal said.
Uma nodded, throwing the circle seating chart in the trash and placing the other photo in a pile on the desk before grabbing another set of photos.
Mal groaned. This wedding was proving to be more trouble than it was worth. But, she did love Ben and she did want to get married, so maybe it would be worth it once it was finally over and she could get a break from Uma and Evie.
The next few days were luckily free from wedding planning while Evie made dress alterations and Uma was placing orders with the most recent batch of things Mal approved.
Mal was actually grateful because it gave her time to hand-deliver a special invitation; one that she had been holding off doing for some time, but she couldn’t wait any longer.
Knocking on the door of the little cottage just inside the edge of the woods, Mal rocked back and forth on her heels, gripping the little white invitation tightly in her hand.
“Well, well, well. Look who it is. Finally decide to come and visit me?”
“Hi, Dad,” Mal greeted, a smile taking over her features.
Hades gestured for her to come in, leading the way through his small home to the living room.
“What brings you to my neck of the woods? Royal life not treating you well already?” Hades laughed.
Mal shook her head, grinning. It was obvious where she got her sarcasm from.
“Actually,” Mal said, “I came to give you this.”
Mal handed over the paper, glad she didn’t end up tearing it with how tight her grip had been.
“I was wondering when I was going to get this,” Hades replied, taking the invitation. “I mean, you can’t forget dear old dad from your wedding, now can you?”
Mal smiled. Of course, she would never forget him. Ever since Hades had come to live on Auradon, Mal had made a point to actually spend time with him and make up for lost time. Hades wasn’t a bad guy and was turning out to be an amazing dad, even though he might have been 18 years late in doing so. Better late than never, Mal thought, unlike her mom.
“Actually, there is a reason why I haven’t brought it earlier,” Mal started.
“Do tell, dear daughter,” Hades said, placing the invitation down on the coffee table.
“Well, I was wondering if you would walk me down the aisle?” Mal asked, biting her lip. Even though it technically was his job, she didn’t know if he actually cared enough to take part in the wedding itself, if he even showed up. Up to this point in her life, her only parent had been a disappointment, so there was no telling was Hades would turn out like.
Hades’s mouth dropped open. No, he was not going to cry. He was a god, damn it, and gods do not cry, especially in front of their daughters. Even if she had just asked if he would be part of one of the most special days of her life.
“Of course!” Hades let out a watery laugh. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Mal let out a breath she didn’t know she had been holding. She ran around the table to give him a hug.
“Thank you!” Mal gushed.
Mal and Hades spent the rest of the day talking. To Mal, it seemed like Hades had been apart of her life forever. She hoped it would stay that way.

Jane and Carlos were walking hand-in-hand to their next class when Carlos stopped.
“So this will probably sound silly, but will you go with me to Mal and Ben’s wedding? I mean, I know we are dating, but I wanted to ask to make sure. I didn’t want to assume anything-”
Jane cut off Carlos’s rambling by kissing him on the cheek.
“Of course, silly.” She smiled, squeezing his hand. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“Awesome!” Carlos smiled. “Alright, now let’s get to class before your mother finds us and gives us detention.”
Jane’s eyes grew wide and started dragging Carlos behind her, walking as quickly as possible to their chemistry class.

Graduation day came and went, all the VKs passing their finals, including Harry, Uma, and Gil, though Harry almost didn’t pass his math final.
Mal and Ben’s wedding day was quickly approaching and Mal was looking forward to it being over so she could finally get a moment's rest. The only good thing about being super busy with wedding planning and other royal duties was that she had no time to be nervous or think about the fact that she was actually getting married and she was going to become queen of Auradon (which she still couldn’t believe).
“This is your last dressing fitting, Mal!” Evie squealed. “Can you believe it’s already almost here? Only a few more days!”
Mal nodded and smiled at how excited her friend was for her.
A knock on the door interrupted Evie muttering to herself about some sort of pearl stitching.
“Mal? Are you in there?”
Evie squeaked.
“Don’t come in, Ben!” Evie yelled, moving quickly to finish putting her last pin in the dress so Mal could get out before Ben came in. He couldn’t see her in her dress! “Just give us one minute!”
The girls heard a faint affirmation while they quickly scrambled to get the dress off Mal and her normal clothes back on. Evie hung the dress back up, pushing the rack into the closet before allowing the king in the room.
“Okay, the coast is clear! You can come in now!” Evie called.
The door slowly opened, Ben sticking his head into the room, eyes shut.
“All clear? Everyone decent?”
Mal giggled at the king. He was so cute and innocent.
“Yeah, Ben,” Mal replied. “What’s up?”
Mal walked over to the door, taking Ben’s hand in hers, leaning up to kiss him on the cheek.
“What? I can’t just come and visit my future wife and queen because I want to?” Ben asked before returning the kiss.
“Of course you can,” Mal snorted. “But, I know you. And I know your schedule, so I know you’re skipping out on something to be here, so what’s up?”
Ben laughed and sighed.
“I’m here to take you on our final date as an unmarried couple!” Ben said.
Mal’s heart soared. She and Ben hadn’t had much time to spend together with studying for finals, planning for the wedding, Ben’s royal council duties, and Mal helping the Isle kids get acclimated to Auradon life.
“Come on!” Ben pulled on Mal’s hand. Mal turned and waved to her best friend, her entire face lit with a smile. Mal didn’t care what they were doing. They could sit on the couch and watch TV for all Mal cared, as long as they were doing it together.
____________________________
‘Mal! Wake up! It’s wedding day!” Evie yelled, opening up Mal’s door, pulling her dress rack behind her. “Time to get ready!”
Mal groaned. She just wanted another hour of sleep. Was that too much to ask?
“Come on, sleepyhead! We have to get you ready!” Evie said, stripping Mal’s bed of her blankets to get her up.
Mal groaned even louder this time. Couldn’t they just skip the wedding and go straight to the married life part? That would make life so much easier for Mal.
Evie ignored Mal’s protests and pulled Mal out of bed and over to her vanity to start working on her hair and makeup. She had a lot of work to do to get Mal wedding-ready.
An hour later, Uma came by, hair and makeup already done, carrying her dress in her arms. Of course Evie and Uma were her two bridesmaids. With everything they had gone through to get here, she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Uma and Evie continued getting Mal ready while Mal tried to help, but kept getting her hands slapped away when she tried to do a bit of makeup or move a piece of her hair.
Another hour passed and Mal was finally wedding-approved by Evie. Now they just had to get themselves and their dresses over to the royal hall where Ben was coronated as king to finish getting ready.
They arrived and got dressed with half an hour to spare before the wedding actually started.
“Knock knock! Can I come in?” Hades called from outside the door.
Uma went to go let him in, careful to shut the door quickly behind him so no one could see Mal in her dress.
“Wow,” Hades paused. “You look…”
Mal did a little twirl in her dress.
“Thanks, Dad.”
Hades grabbed Mal’s hand and pulled her over to the loveseat in the room. Evie and Uma quietly slipped out of the room, wanting to give the two some privacy to have a father-daughter talk.
“I can’t believe my little girl is all grown up,” Hades gushed.
Mal was shocked. She didn’t know Hades could show this much emotion, but she wasn’t complaining. It was a nice difference to the constant anger and disappointment her mother always showed.
“Are you sure you want to do this? I mean, you’re still young. You have your whole life ahead of you!” Hades questioned.
“Of course I’m sure,” Mal nodded. “I know I have my whole life ahead of me, but I want my whole life to be with someone I love at my side. Someone I can always lean on and someone who will always love me back.”
Mal had grown a lot since she left the Isle. She would have never thought she would marry an Auradon kid, let alone the king. She never would have thought herself capable of love, and she never would have thought she would have loving friends and actual family by her side to help her through it all.
Hades nodded, taking Mal’s hands in his.
“Well, I’m glad you found someone you actually love and who loves you back. I couldn’t be more proud of you right now, and I can’t wait to see you continue to grow,” Hades said, trying to hold back tears. He knew he was going to cry at some point today, but he didn’t want it to be this early in the day.
“So, what do you say we get this show on the road?” Hades asked, quickly standing up.
Mal followed suit and hooked her arm in his.
“Lead the way, Dad.”
____________________________
The wedding passed by in a blur for Mal. She knew Ben looked great, as always, in his suit and tie that of course Evie had created. Evie and Uma looked beautiful in their dresses, and if Mal didn’t know any better, she would have thought she saw a few tears in Uma’s eyes.
Hades walked her down the aisle, and at least she knew she didn’t trip, which she was eternally grateful for. She even saw Hades glare at Ben before he went to sit down, which she thought was pretty funny, though she figured Ben didn’t.
Mal barely remembered her and Ben saying their vows, but she knew she cried a little.
After the ceremony, Mal and Ben made their way to the reception, where everyone started cheering. Mal would probably never get used to all this attention.
“This was such a beautiful wedding!” Jane gushed, looking over at the happy couple taking their seat at the table at the front of the room.
“Yeah, I guess. Too many people for my liking, though,” Carlos said.
Jane nodded, thinking for a moment.
“When we get married, we can have a small, private ceremony with only our closest friends,” Jane replied.
Carlos opened his mouth to respond, but stopped once his brain processed what Jane had said.
“What?”
Jane’s eyes widened, just realizing what she had said. Too late to go back now, she thought.
“I said, when we get married, we won’t invite so many people,” Jane replied. “I can’t believe what I’m about to say, but Carlos, would you like to get married? I mean, I don’t want to move too fast, and if I’m totally off base here, just let me know. And it’s not like I haven’t thought about this, I definitely have, but I-”
Carlos cut off Jane’s rambling by grabbing her hand and kissing her on the cheek.
“Of course I would love to marry you. But maybe we should wait to break the news to everyone when we’re not at the royal wedding. Evie would have a fit if we stole the spotlight away from Mal and Ben,” Carlos said, smiling ear-to-ear, glancing toward Evie sitting next to her best friend.
Jane couldn’t believe her luck. If someone told her she would end up not only dating, but getting married to a Villain Kid, she would have passed out on the spot, but here she was, madly in love with a VK and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
And because they were in Auradon, both the VKs and AKs got their happily ever after after all.
Please let me know what you think!! And if you have a request, send it in! My ao3 is linked on my masterlist!

OKAY so I finally got around to watching Descendants 3, I’m watching it right now and I have some stuff to say
opening music number? fuckin bitchin, we STAN whoever writes these villain songs. I do like the ones from the first two movies better, but it does show more of how the Isle of the Lost has changed since the first four went to Auradon (idk if that’s how it’s spelled don’t judge me)
SMEE HAS TWINS
I’ve only known facilier’s daughter for three and a half minutes but if anything happened to her i would kill everyone in this room and then myself
aight, so Hades is definitely going to play a big part in this movie, whether he’s a villain or a bad guy gone good. He’s gonna be important, and it’s a little random because he wasn’t even mentioned for the last two movies
THE P R O P O S A L. I’M CRYING Y’ALL. I LOVE THEM
Seeing Cameron being a goofball as Carlos makes me want to cry. I love him and I wish more than anything that he was still here.
anyway, sad stuff aside, Audrey is obviously going to be some sort of villain just based on her whole rant about the proposal. not the best choice for a villain, considering she wasn’t that memorable from the first movie and her motive is a little cliche, but whatever
ooooOOOOOHHHH SHE’S GOT A VILLAIN SONG
OH NO SHE’S HOT!! AUDREY KILL ME PLEASE!!!
Mal wanting to close the barrier for good is a little out of character in my opinion
Audrey showing up when she did is also a little random, not sure why that was necessary. She just turned Mal into an old lady and left????
The pacing of the whole movie is a little weird so far, but every movie seems like that to me at first and it seems better the second time I watch it so it could totally just be me
AUDREY SINGING HAPPY BIRTHDAY. OH GOD IM IN LOVE HER VOICE IS BEAUTIFUL
I CHANGED MY MIND I LOVE AUDREY AS A VILLAIN
and now Mal is back to normal?? what was the point of audrey cursing her in the first place?
the actor for Dr. Facilier could NOT be better!!! I love him, and I LOVE that he has an arcade kinda thing going on in the Isle. just,,,,, UGH he is incredible
OHHHHH IT’S THE PIRATE BOYS
k so we visiting Hades now and idk why theyre on this minecart/bike sorta thing? they could literally walk faster than that but you know what the sequence was cool so imma let it slide
HE SLEEPS TO FUCKING DOG SOUNDS I LOVE HADES
he’s wearing shades while he sleeps the absolute madlad
oh god he’s hotter up close
hOLD ON DID SHE JUST SAY D A D
WHAT THE FUCK HADES IS HER DAD
that sassy scarf flip?? im lov he
OHHHHHHH HE’S SINGING NOW
god this kind of song totally fits his aesthetic. All the songs are absolutely incredible so far and so is the choreography, just like the other two movies
THE TAMBOURINE. WHAT A FUCKIN DRAMA QUEEN, I LOVE HADES
he radiates chaotic bi energy i love this man
i LOVE audrey!! her motives may be cliche, sure, but she is incredible
PIRATE BOYS GOT OUT AND OH NO UMA’S PRETTY
uma and mal have such a good dynamic
“i can feel you lurking...” “good” could harry and jay get any gayer
ANOTHER SONG FUCK YEAH
I love Evie playing mediator between Mal and Uma, and the two of them working together in this fight scene??? NICE
Have I mentioned how much I love the choreography?
Evie making them do team bonding sksksksksksksk
is gil flirting with jay
jAY’S FLIRTING BACK
is gil asking him out???
i want harry to stab me with his hook
i would literally die for celia, she’s such a precious kid
okay so Mal wanting to close the barrier is more relevant now that Celia thinks they’re letting all the kids out of the Isle, I take back what I said earlier
OH EVIE’S SINGING, WHAT A DRAMA QUEEN I LOVE HER
god they are so cute together im crying
OHHHHH BEN’S A BEAST!!!!
im literally going to cry i love carlos and cameron
does ben just??? have a beard now??? is that permanent?? god i hope so it’s rly cute
I LOVE HARRY, HOLY FUCK, PLEASE DATE ME
harry radiates disaster bi energy and he’s sTILL FLIRTING WITH JAY, HE LITERALLY JUST CALLED HIM GORGEOUS I’M-
if they don’t end up together at the end i’m gonna RIOT
mal and uma?? working together??? i love them
BEN’S GOT LIDDLE FANGS HE’S SO CUTE
can i just take a moment to comment on harry’s eyeliner??? ugh he’s hot
i would die for chad
hey uhhhh have i mentioned how pretty jane is??? i love her so much
“mal promised to let all the kids off the isle” ohhhhh DRAMA
oH NO UMA IS SAD
SO IS HARRY
CELIA’S GONNA CRY NO
ok this is a good fucking scene, evie’s gonna cry and mal- oH GOD OH FUCK THEY’RE ALL STATUES
ohhhhhh a SONG
showing clips from all the movies show her character development is just,,,, UGH i LOVE it! it’s such a powerful moment for her and i love how she’s changed through the series
OH FIGHT SCENE
AUDREY’S GOT CELIA FUCK
UMA’S HELPING I’M IN LOVE
audrey does such a good evil laugh why was she not a villain sooner
audrey’s been defeated but there are still twenty minutes left??? what’s happening is audrey dead or sumn
i’m sorry but WHERE THE FUCK IS BEN’S BEARD. GIVE IT BACK TO HIM PLEASE IT’S CUTE
ngl i would be ok if uma and harry ended up together theyre kinda cute
again,,,,, i would die for celia
IT’S THE CHAOTIC BI HIMSELF
FUCKIN HADES BABEY!!!!!
“When you guys try to destroy the world, it’s an error in judgement. But when it’s one of us? Lock ‘em up, throw away the key. Right, Beast?” i,,,, love this man. seriously could hades possibly have been more perfect
hades growling at the beast is,,,, ngl kinda hot
god i love audrey, she was such a good villain, and her apology??? nice
THAT WAS SUCH A GOOD FATHER/DAUGHTER MOMENT, I LOVE HADES AND MAL AND OH NO SHE’S CRYING FUCK
“speech, oh fancy one!” i love jay so much
mal’s speech??? im crying, look at how much she’s grown
THEY’RE OPENING THE BARRIER!!!!
UMA’S HAPPY LIL TWIRL???? SHE’S BABEY!!!
it’s a bop!! fuck yeah!!!
the choreography of the last dance number is just?? phenomenal???
ok harry and audrey are gonna be a cute couple but can i just say right now that gil and jay are canonically together in my opinion and you can’t change my mind
that last shot of the four of them running across the bridge??? poetic cinema
IS CHINA ANNE MCCLAIN SINGING DIG A LITTLE DEEPER???? HOLY FUCK
this movie was such a good ending to the series, i loved how every character developed, the music and choreography was incredible, 11/10 would watch again

Hades!Harry
“Came to visit you love, been missing ya quite a bit if I’m honest.” He says, smiling down at her. “Look, I made you a crown with all the pretty flowers you picked, hope you don’t mind, just thought you’d look so nice with a crown on that pretty little head.” He motions down to the crown in his hands. It is beautiful, the deep red of the flower she had been drawn to earlier, surrounded by a bed of pinks and purple, her own field of flowers adorned on her head.
“It’s beautiful H, you read minds now? Been wanting to make me one since I picked that pretty red flower earlier. How long have you been waiting for me?” She asks, because the crown is not only beautiful, but intricately made, not something that someone could just whip up in a minute.
“Recon it’s been quite some hours now, walked up just in time to see you disappear into the trees with that Nymph, thought I would leave you be. I knew you would return for your flowers, soft spot for them you have.” He sits up on his knees reaching over to place the crown on Persephone's head. “Perfect fit, proper queen you are now.” Persephone can’t help but beam up at him. Harry has always been quite nice to her.
“Hades, god of the Underworld, fell in love with Persephone and wanted her as his bride. His brother Zeus consented to the marriage—or at least refused to oppose it. Yet he warned Hades that Demeter would never approve this coupling, for she would not want her daughter spirited off to a sunless world. At Zeus's suggestion—or with his tacit understanding—Hades resolved to abduct the maiden.
Persephone was gathering flowers one day on a plain in Sicily. Hades suddenly appeared, thundering across the plain in his four-horse chariot. The god swooped down upon Persephone, scooped her up with one arm, and literally and figuratively deflowered her—leaving the plain scattered with blossoms of every colour.
The appearance, abduction, and disappearance happened so swiftly that none of Persephone's companions witnessed the kidnapping. And though she called out to them—and plaintively called for her mother—no one heard her pleas. The earth opened up before Hades' chariot and the god drove the jet-black horses down into the chasm. As Hades and Persephone disappeared into the depths, the hole closed up behind them.”
What if the myth had it all wrong? Yes Persephone was kidnapped by the god of the underworld. But maybe, he wasn’t the bad guy in their narrative, maybe Hades wasn’t as cold blooded as the myth wants you to believe. Maybe the ground didn’t swallow Persephone up. Maybe she actually loved Hades and maybe when her mother Demeter finally found where Persephone was hidden, and convinced Zeus to allow her back to earth Persephone didn’t want to go and be separated from her love. Perhaps this was just a story of two people who fell in love, (through admittedly questionable circumstances), and who were torn apart by those around them.
Chapter 1
The day is warm and sunny, the light from the sun warming the back of Persephone’s neck. Her skin glows a light sheen from the heat of the air around her as she bends down to grab a particularly red wild flower, the colour standing out against the other pinks and yellows.
“Persephone, come play with us!” A nymph disrupts her silence and causes Persephone to give a small squeak jumping around to face the girl. She is prancing over towards where Persephone is picking flowers. The white of her dress is falling in waves behind her contrasting the dark of her skin, as she navigates the small incline, until she comes to a harsh halt just in front of Persephone. The fabric billows out around the two of them before resting, moving softly in the wind.
“Of course love, what are we playing?” Persephone asks bending down to lay the flowers she had picked softly against the ground. She plans to return for them once they were finished playing.
“All of us are playing in the water, it is so nice and cool today, we have been splashing around in it.” The nymph smiled and grabs Persephone’s hand pulling her up, and towards the river where she had come from. Persephone can hear soft laughter and splashing water as she and the nymph grow closer to the river bank.
“You know, you are a saving grace really, been out in the sun all day picking pretty flowers, I reckon I could make myself a pretty crown with all the ones I’ve collected.” Persephone smiles over at the nymph, motioning over her shoulder towards the flowers she has left. “But, I have grown quite warm, and a cool dip in the river sounds like exactly what I need right now.” Persephone continues as they near the sparkling blue water. “Looks proper refreshing I do say.”
“Oh it is, we’re all supposed to be out here picking berries for jam, but we just couldn’t resist, has to be the warmest day of the year, I would think.” The nymph drops the hold she had on Persephone’s hand and wades into the water. The air is so hot that in the time that the nymph had left for persephone and then returned her hair had curled up into a dark messy frizz on the top of her head. The white of her skirt now reflected the pale blue of the water, billowing up around the waist of the nymph. Persephone can’t help but compare her beauty to that of the flowers she had been picking just minutes ago.
“I think I would have to agree with you, don’t think it’s been this hot in years.” Persephone adds, as she kicks her boots off, and picks up her dress enough so that it won’t drag on muddy ground of the bank. She wades into the water and sighs as the coolness envelops her flushed skin. She only now realizes how long she had been in the sun, a nice break was far overdo. The trees surrounding the river cast shadows down hiding them from the suns view cooling the air around them slightly. As she watches the rest of the young Nymphs splash at each other, a small smile makes its way unto her face. She continues on until she is up to her breast in water. Her own dress billows up along side her, casting a green tint up unto her face.
“Persephone!” The other nymphs have now taken notice of her wading towards them, smiling and pushing over each other to reach her. Nymphs always have such high energy to them Persephone thinks to herself.
“Hello, loves I heard you all having fun over here and couldn’t resist, had to come find out what all hustle and bustle was about.” She smiles down at a small nymph reaching out to rustle her hair.
“It’s nice to see you Persephone, been quite a while since you visited us down here.” One of the older nymphs spoke from behind the group. As the young one reaches to fix her hair, frowning, while Persephone beams back at her.
“I know, Poseidon’s been on a bit of a tear lately, been spending my time along with the others cleaning up all the messes he’s been making. Things have only now began to settle down.”
“That mans a grouch isn’t he, always hearing about him causing trouble.” The small nymph says now frowning down at the water.
“He is quite a grouch, think it’s because no one in the sea follows his rule, quite jealous of his brothers I recon. But enough about all that what are we playing?” Just like that the nymphs begin to explain their game, the topic of Poseidon and his quakes forgotten. The game doesn’t make much sense to Persephone, but she plays along the best she can, splashing when the others do, and wading around quietly, following the lead of those around her.
The group of them spend hours splashing around in the cool water, and before Persephone realizes the sun is beginning her descent in the sky, the shadows that the trees cast growing longer. The air had grown cooler but not as much as  it normally does, something that Persephone notices as she emerges from the water after bidding her goodbyes to the nymphs. She welcomes the warmth though, because even though the air did not cool the water did quickly. Wiggling her toes to try to regain some of the warmth lost, she grabs her discarded boots, not bothering to try to slide them on her damp feet. She thinks the worst feeling in the world is putting dry clothing on a still wet body. There’s no point, it’s just uncomfortable and then your clothes get wet, and nobody likes wet clothes, (even though at this very moment her dress is sticking to her quite uncomfortably). But why would she add to that? So the shoes stay off.
She begins her barefoot hike back up to where she had earlier left her flowers, hopes to grab them and then return home to Olympus before the sun completely disappears. When she arrives she is surprised to see another person seated with her flowers. Upon further inspection she recognizes the figure as Hades (though every other time they had meet he had insisted she call him Harry).
“Harry, what a pleasant surprise, don’t think I’ve ever seen you on the solid earth.” She remarks sitting down beside him. “What are you doing here?”
Persephone doesn’t know Harry well, they have met a couple times on Olympus, but from their meetings he has been a proper gentleman, quite pretty too if she does say so herself.
“I think you need yourself a crown now, though, makes me feel quite lonely being the only one wearing one.” She says, reaching up to straighten the crown on her head.
“Already got mine lovie,” He motions to the crown of gold on his head, (if you could even call it that, it is more like a headband. One that got lost behind the curls in his hair). It is beautiful none the less. “Don’t forget I’m something of a king where I come from.”
“How could I ever? But, that reminds me, why are you here? Hades is hardly seen outside of the underworld and never seen on Earth, just under it, if I do recall correctly.” She knows she’s right, he’s notorious for scaring the mortals off as some evil being, but she thinks he’s quite the opposite. “Are you the reason its been so darn hot today? Got me sweating out of my knackers if so.”
This causes him to laugh, leaning back on his arms and crossing his feet out in front of him. “That is my fault unfortunately, always running a little warm I am.” He pauses cheeks growing pink. The sun is in full set now, casting a warm orange glow onto his face. He is making Persephone feel very soft and gooey inside, turning and smiling at her again, big enough that his cheeks dimple, and she decides that she could watch him smile forever.
“To answer your other question,” his voice drags her out of the trace she was in. “Like I said I’m here for you, visited with Zeus today, said I would probably find you here.” This strikes Persephone as peculiar, while they know each other, they have never sought the other out, and suddenly she is filled with nerves, something bad must have happened, that can be the only explanation.
“Don’t look so distressed love, everything is fine, told him all about how I’m smitten with you, want to proper wed ya I recon. Asked him advice for how I could get ya all smitten with me.” He is looking at the sunset now too, staring off. He has a lot on his mind, always has, but especially in this moment.
“H, I’m flattered, but we hardly know each other..” She trails off not sure what else to say in this moment. Hades, against his reputation is the nicest of the brothers and while the stories floating around about him make his out to be all mean she knows he’s the nicest, and a romantic too, unlike all his brothers. She knows because she heard him say once:
“Wanna marry for love, I think, don’t like how my brothers do it, conquering a lady and then sleeping with ten more, gross if you ask me.” They had been at a party and he was as drunk as she had ever seen anybody, leaning up against a tree, talking to one of the olive branches. So his words now have her confused, just out of the blue wanting to marry her, he doesn’t love her, she knows that for sure.
“I know, I know, you’re just the prettiest I’ve ever seen, nice too, good company. The underworld can be quite lonely, always feel like everyones got someone ‘cept for me, ya know?” And she does know what he means, always feels quite lonely herself, Olympus can be quite cold up in the clouds and she often finds herself yearning for someone to snuggle up with.
“Well what did Zeus suggest for you to do?” She asks curious for the answer, Zeus has always been in the nature of taking what he wanted, no matter the cost, and that worried her.
“He suggested I kidnap you, take you down with me to the underworld, and hide you out there. He said your mother would never approve of the two of us courting, best to make you mine as quick as possible, with no one knowing.” He looks almost sad as he says this, as if he actually believes that is his only option, and he does. He’s conflicted between allowing Persephone to slip from his grip, and actually taking his brothers obscure advice. If he kidnaps her and hides her away in the underworld, there is no way she will ever learn to love him, that he knows.
“Well, are you going to do it?” Persephone asks, her heart is pounding in her chest as she says this, suddenly unsure of the man sitting beside her. Perhaps he is not the man she believed he was, he certainly wasn’t talking or acting like it.
“Are you going to make me?” This questions puzzles Persephone, what an odd question for someone to ask, she thinks. Will she force him into kidnapping her? She wonders if he will actually do it, he has been so nice to her, nicer than either of his other brothers, but he was god of the underworld, and perhaps she should be weary of that.
“Yes.”
“I was really hoping you wouldn’t say that, put me in a position where I gotta do it now, can’t have you calling my bluff, I would lose respect from all the others.” He is looking at his hands, rolling them over each other in anxiety. “I think you would rather like it in the underworld, always quite cool, except for me of course, got loads of good food too.”
“If I really don’t agree to come by my own free will, you’re gunna take me then? Just to make sure I got this all straight.”
“I’m gunna have to yes, can’t go looking any weaker to Zeus, already thinks he’s all high and mighty, better than Poseidon and me.” He looks up at her, she notices now that his eyes match the colour of her dress perfectly, forest green, and reflecting brightly in what is left of the sun.
“I don’t think you’ll do it, I’d hate you, so ya know, would never forgive you.”
“I know, but I think I could live with you hating me, so long as I would make sure you’re okay. Never seeing ya again if I let you go, know that for sure.” He is right, if Persephone is allowed to walk away from this, she doesn’t ever want to see him again. If he isn’t successful this time, he definitely will be the next. He is starring at her so intensely now, like he can read her mind. His eyes so serious she has to break the contact they were holding, instead looking down at the grass she has taken to pulling out at the roots. He does know what she’s thinking, though she couldn’t be more wrong.
“I’ll hate you.” She murmurs, she knows she has lost this fight, she won’t be heading home to Olympus tonight. Whether it by force or free will, she’s going to the underworld.
“I’m sorry, but like I said,” he pauses sucking in a deep breath, “I can live with that.”

SIS have you read the summary for what Escape from the Isle of the Lost is about? Because I have some feelings! I won't say anything in here however in case you haven't. If you do wanna see the summary its on the JustJaredJr website.
Hi Anon! I have read the summary, but I haven’t, ya know, READ the Summary. However, I say now would be a good a time as any to go through it line by line :)
Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos may have once been the baddest of the bad, but their wicked ways are (mostly) behind them—and now graduation is almost here! But before the seniors can don their custom-designed caps and gowns, courtesy of Evie, they’ve got an epic plan to put into action.
I’m gonna start this by saying my Grammarly check told me ‘baddest’ is not a word…what the fuck Disney.
Onto the good stuff: Yay, these adult-lookin’ teens are finally gonna graduate! That means we can say safely that most of them are 18 by D3, which is probably gonna be about graduation. And of course, the custom caps and gowns are gonna be colorful and fun if they’re designed by Evie.
There are tons of villain kids on the Isle of the Lost who are eager for their chance to come to Auradon Prep – even Celia, Dr. Facilier’s trickster daughter, wants in on the deal! – and Mal’s crew is using their upcoming visit to the Isle to help make it happen. But Auradon’s biggest threat is still at large…
YAY! MORE VILLAIN KIDS TO BRING OVER! And I am SO here from Celia’s first impression being ‘trickster.’ I’m here to protect her at all costs!
The Core Four are making an UPCOMING visit to the Isle–possibly also build up for the visit to be in D3, especially with those promo clips we saw of them on the Isle.
Now for the biggest threat…*sigh*…I know who it’s gonna be, and I dunno why I hate it so much. Like yeah, she is the ONLY threat to Auradon at the moment, so it is the BIGGEST, but if they tryna make her the Big Bad in D3 imma throw hands bc she is JUSTIFIED!
Trapped on the other side of the barrier, Uma is more desperate than ever to get her long-awaited revenge against Mal. When she discovers an underground lair belonging to Hades, god of the underworld, Uma realizes she’s found the perfect partner in crime. Together, they can defeat Mal, bring down the barrier, and escape the Isle for good.
I may just be a biased Uma Stan that thinks she is less of a villain, more of an antagonist, but I just hate how they say here that she’s ‘desperate’ and that her revenge is just against Mal? Am I the only one who feels like her main grudge is against all of Auradon and her thing against Mal is additional? I wanna know what you guys think about that because I just don’t like the way that line reads.
Okay, I’ve read the “Trapped on the other side of the barrier” line like five times now and I still don’t know which side she is ACTUALLY TRAPPED ON! If she made it back onto the Isle, how? I’d like to know! But she could be trapped outside of the barrier, and honestly, that’s the only way she could still be a BIG threat to Auradon. By trapped, it’d be like being stuck between a rock (the barrier) and a hard place (Auradon out for her arrest). Uma could find an underground lair underwater because she’s Ursula daughter, so that’d be dope. How Hades has an Underground layer outside of the Isle, well, he’s a fucking god. I wouldn’t doubt it.
Uma and Hades Team Up can be good or bad. On one hand, I would love to see them reference Hades as Uma’s uncle. I know that the whole ‘Ursula and Triton are Poseidon’s kids’ thing is never fully acknowledged in The Little Mermaid Movie, but it isn’t refuted either, and since it’s canon in the musical and was in the original movie notes, I think it’d be cool.
However, I’m worried about a) Uma being corrupted into a mindset that it’s “One for all and all for me.” or be) Uma getting emotionally manipulated.
If Uma’s stuck alone with Hades for too long, hearing his ramblings of betrayal and how living alone is better and blah blah, Captain “My crew is the only real family I have” Uma might doubt her own beliefs. This is all kinda speculative, but we can all agree that Uma is a very crew-oriented person. She doesn’t like being the loner, but Hades’ ramblings of power in solitude might change her for the worse, and I ain’t tryna read a book where Uma frightfully questions her relationships with her crew like Gil and *ahem* HARRY!
On the other hand, Uma might go along with what Hades is doing for the common goal and because she’s at a low point (in which case, desperate is an appropriate word). Hades, however, is using his familial ties to a sea witch on the outside of the barrier for his own personal gain. This way, when Uma demands her split of the deal (probably freedom for the Isle), Hades, who really only wanted to free himself and dominate the world, is like “lmao u thought i was serious? silly niece, honesty is for heroes” in which case I will cry because I am SICK of people betraying Uma.
Also, Uma’s perfect partner-in-crime has and always will be Harry.
Mal and Uma have a score to settle, and they’ll come face to face in an explosive underwater battle that could determine the fates of Auradon and the Isle of the Lost once and for all.
If this is supposed to mean that dumb Under The Sea thing, that was a friggin dream. Also, if Uma and Mal are fighting in this book (not in a dream), we all know Mal is gonna either win or retreat since she’s the main character. If you’re tryna tell me that Mal would beat Uma underwater, Imma have some serious bones to pick.
Best case scenario: They fight and argue while they are fighting, and Mal is like “why do u hate me so much omg leave auradon alone if u just hate me” and Uma legit is just done with her and is all “Bish I’m fighting for the vks u abandoned, u just happen to be in my way (high key I also hate u)” and that just makes Mal question everything and then they both retreat after a dangerous stalemate, and that’ll build the foundation for their alliance in D3.
That’s all for my analysis of the Summary! Lemme know what you guys think, if you agree or disagree, or anything you wanna say about the upcoming book!
