This is kinda relating to my last post but I think some of you are mistaking Shen for an albino peacock.. cause he’s not
I mean, I don’t really blame you if you mistook him as one cause honestly I’m just a weirdo who reads wikis.
(skip everything and just read the bottom if you don’t wanna read my explanation)
.
.
Shen is a peacock with leucism, not albinism.
(Leucism definition on the left, albinism on the right)
Here’s him compared to an actual albino peacock. As you can see, the albino has a pink and white pigmentation due to a lack of melanin, whereas Shen despite being mostly white is still full of color.
(And no, it’s not because it’s a silly cartoon. The creators of KFP had originally intended to make him albino to make him look “sickly” which would explain why he was neglected by his parents. They made the decision to scrap that in favor of having him be a peacock with leucism so there was no excuse or tragic backstory to justify his entitlement and actions)
.
.
And if you REALLY don’t believe my explanation, here’s the KFP wiki page backing me up!

A Trope I Wish We Saw A Little More:
The prisoner who is also the villain's voice of reason.
Not the hero shouting at the villain, but that quiet person who is there for the villain despite their circumstances. The one whispering much-needed wisdom and rational thought into their ear in a bid to save them from their own anger and pride.
The Soothsayer from Kung Fu Panda 2 for example. She's not a fighter. She's an old woman. And this doesn't stop her from attempting to guide Shen to a better path.
Characters like this are the true highlights to the antagonist that is beyond hope. You have the hero who is doing everything in their power to stop the villain, and then you have the wise prisoner who is doing the same but in their own way. They point out the flaws in the villain's logic, they provide insight, and in the best case scenario, it works and the villain surrenders to face justice for their crimes. Or they decide they have gone too far already and it's too late to turn back now, and it really nails home how it is their own stubbornness that becomes their downfall.
Another one I can think of is a part in the Watership Down cartoon (yes, this is a thing) where Silverweed is questioning General Woundwort's motives and this exchange happens:
Woundwort: I cannot let go of my anger. What would I be without it?
Silverweed: Happy?

Kai named his second son Tian Sha- "Ferocious Spirit from Heaven"- because he and his wife played a game of Xiangqi over who would name the baby and he won.
"You know he's a calf and not an action figure, right?"
"Well, one day he'll be a bull who needs to strike fear into his enemies: that's the perfect name to do it."
"...You just wanted an excuse to use that name."
"OOGWAY WOULDN'T LET ME NAME OUR ARMY THAT, IT'S A COOL NAME I'M USING IT NOW."
