Listen everyone has their own metric for what good writing is and isn’t but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t get me down a little to see one of my faves dragged through the mud by both haters and fans alike on a pretty much weekly basis
#yes this is about Salvatore#I don’t mean this to say you can’t dislike or hate his work because that’s valid too#I just mean that he’s become one of those writers where it’s okay and trendy to shit on him and he’s popular enough that it’s excused#I feel like there’s a lot of irl fans who crap on him because they inherently don’t like the over-the-top rule-of-cool style that is FR#and it’s okay to not be into that side of fantasy#but you aren’t the superior reader because you love GRRM-esque super serious grim dark content#also I haven’t personally met a long running series where I loved every single book or plot point#it’s pretty normal when you look at a 40 book series to find that some arcs/books are a bit better than others#and I feel like people jump on certain books and take it as ‘see? any talent he ever had has gone down the drain’#like my dude it’s okay if you didn’t love a few of the books just skip and move on#add to that he’s a prolific writer in general and I’m sure some books got more time and effort from him than others#it’s fine and normal and not a sign that he’s the worse ever ffs#also there’s a part of me that doesn’t like comparing authors working in shared worlds to authors writing totally independently#because some plot points are set by the publisher before pen ever hits the paper#and again you don’t have to think Salvatore or anyone is a good writer#but I always factor it in when I see plots that seem to come out of nowhere and the like#anyways that’s my rant lmao#constructive criticism of any writer is fine and I’m not knocking that before anyone gets their knickers twisted

eddie munson x fem!metalhead!reader
you and eddie hate school dances, but you decide to go to the prom this year--with someone who isn't eddie. eddie does not like that, but can't say anything.
a/n: this is my first longer fic so i hope you like it. prom season is coming up so this is kinda self indulgent (as if all my fics aren't). this one is for all my weird girls out there! title from one night in the city by dio btw. :)
warnings: hurt/comfort. angsty for a while but gets fluffy. swearing. a guy being a total asshole to reader. reader wears a dress. reader and eddie both self-described as 'freak.' eddie being a jealous and insecure idiot. both are oblivious as fuck. eddie is REALLY dorky. eddie's backstory and parents--i did not read that book so i don't care if it's canon. idiots in love in the end. pretty cliche but i don't care!

It’s prom night, and Eddie is sitting alone on his couch. Without you.
Usually, you guys skip every school event together in favor of watching a shitty movie and smoking half of his stock, but tonight was different. Someone asked you to the prom, and it wasn’t him.
He’s been acting off for the past two weeks, you noticed. He’s been quiet and snappy, and has been opting to jack up the stereo instead of talk on your drives home. When you asked him what was wrong, he pushed you away. So, you left him alone about it. He made it clear he wanted his space.
He didn’t even want to show up to see you in your dress. You called him last night to see if he would come over–he told you he was sick. He wasn’t fully lying, though. The thought of you going to that stupid school dance with that stupid school boy made him nauseous. It didn’t make sense to him. How did you switch your views on the prom so fast? Months ago, the two of you laughed at the idea of going. Now, you were dressed up all pretty, just like all those popular girls you claimed to hate. He had to watch that sleazy ass car pull into to the trailer park, right up next to his. He’d never admit that he watched you step out of your trailer with that guy, and wished it was him.
Being completely honest with yourself, your date isn’t even exactly your type. Todd isn’t some freak like you or your friends, but he isn’t a complete asshole either. He asked you in the hallway two weeks ago, and your instinct was to laugh at him. You laughed in his face, but he didn’t budge. He really wanted to take you to the prom, so you told him you’d go. It felt nice to be wanted. It was okay that he wasn’t some rock n’ roll dude like you’re into–it’s not like you’re marrying him. It’s just the prom.
You and Todd arrive at the Hawkins High gym, hand in sweaty hand. Pushing the anxiety clawing at your throat back down, you give him a smile as you walk to get your photo taken together. The frilly, glittery background reminds you that this place isn’t for you. Again, you push that down.
The music isn’t really your style, either, but everyone is having so much fun you feel the need to pretend. None of your friends are here, so you’re stuck. Maybe you should have pregamed, you think. Too late now. Todd pulls you onto the dance floor with a fervor you’ve never seen in him. You don’t understand how a person can have so much fun dancing to this shitty music. It’s a lot easier to get through when you pretend that Todd is Eddie, and you’re dancing to mixtapes in his room. You decide not to think about the implications of that right now. When the song ends, you offer to grab punch for the both of you. Maybe it’ll be spiked.
As you make your way back to Todd, you see him chatting with a few of his friends, and from this distance you can just begin to hear them.
“So, when do I get my twenty bucks from each of you? She’s totally ruining my reputation right now.” He laughs, and your stomach churns.
“Okay, yeah, you proved us wrong. You got her here, you danced, you win.” His friend confirms the fear that’s been looming over you like a dark cloud since Todd first asked you out.
“You at least better hold onto her long enough to get her home with you tonight, man!” Another friend cackles, and you think you’re going to vomit.
How were you stupid enough to think that he actually liked you?
God, you’re so gullible.
At least there’s nothing to lose now, you think. Walking over to him, drinks in hand, you dump both of them on his head. They splash on his stupid hair and drench his stupid suit. The music keeps playing. A few people turn to look. The room doesn’t stop for you like some trashy romcom. Everyone just keeps going.
Storming out to the parking lot, nothing can stop the burning tears from pouring down your face. You slump down against the brick wall, fabric of your dress sticking to the rough sidewalk. The warm spring air feels sticky on your cheeks. You wish you had stayed in with Eddie.
Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. You need to call Eddie. Todd drove you here, so it’s either Eddie or walk, and these heels already hurt enough. Your body feels like dead weight as you drag yourself to the payphone on the wall, punching in the number that’s engraved into your heart.
“Hey.” You greet, choked up. You’re trying to keep your composure. You know it won’t last long.
“…Hey. Havin’ fun with Mr. Popular?” There’s a bitterness to his tone. Usually he would’ve picked up on the fact that you were crying in a split second, but tonight he was too angry.
“Uhm, not really. Could you, uh,” you sniffle, blowing your thin cover, “pick me up? Like, now?”
You can almost hear his demeanor shift over the phone. A beat of silence passes.
“I’ll be right there.” He’s clearly still upset, because he hangs up the phone without saying goodbye. But his one-sided irritation can’t override the facts: he cares about you so much that he immediately hops in his van and starts speeding to the school, even faster than normal.
You sit back at the edge of the sidewalk, staring into the empty night over the parking lot. God, this is so cliché. Freak gets taken to prom as a joke; left crying outside. You know how pointless it is to cry over this guy. You don’t even care about him, to be honest. But it’s not really him you’re crying over. It’s the extensive disappointment you repeatedly put yourself through after expecting different results—it’s the fact that you haven’t stopped thinking about Eddie all night.
As you begin to probe deeper into the ethical implications of falling in love with your best friend, said best friend whips into the parking lot, tires skidding as he pulls right up to you and parks. He drives just how he lives his life—with a sense of urgency and passion you don’t see in many. His van stops diagonally in the middle of the pickup lane, and he hops out of the driver’s side door, so worried he can’t be bothered to close it before sprinting to your side.
For the past six minutes—which is Eddie’s new personal record on getting to the school from Forest Hills—his mind has been racing with every possibility of what could have happened to you tonight. Maybe Todd had another girl, or is just boring, or maybe you got totally Carrie’d and some assholes poured pig’s blood all over you. Not likely, but hey, you never know the determination of Hawkins’ resident assholes. At least if you got Carrie’d you’d look metal as fuck. That would be a good album cover. But that’s not the point. What he’s more worried about is the possibility that that dickwad touched you in any way. Just the thought is enough for him to completely light up—he got pretty close to breaking his steering wheel from how hard he was gripping it.
“What happened?” He tries to act nonchalant, but that’s something he’s never been good at.
Your head is held between your knees, looking down into nothingness. He’s staring daggers into the top of your head, and you can almost feel the fact that he wants to say ‘I told you so.’ Reluctantly, your wet eyes tilt upwards, the rest of your head following.
“Let’s just talk in the van.” He sighs.
You don’t budge. Your legs feel far too wobbly to imagine getting up right now. He has zero patience at the moment, it seems, as evidenced by the fact that he almost immediately picks you up bridal style and carries you directly to the passenger’s side of his van. He fumbles with the door handle for a second before setting you down gently in the seat. You watch him drag a frustrated hand over his face through the windshield as he walks back to his side, and although you know you didn’t do anything wrong, you’re worried that you did.
The engine roars into life, turning your seat into a makeshift massage chair. Eddie pulls out of the parking lot as quickly as he pulled in, but with a little more focus. He doesn’t turn his music on, which is a bad sign.
“It was a bet,” is all you can say, voice soft and defeated, “because, of fucking course it was.” You stare out the window, head tapping against the glass as he hits a pothole straight on.
“I told you that asshole was bad news.” His voice is laced with venom. He’s never been good at controlling his anger—especially when it has to do with you.
You stay silent. Anything you say right now will probably just piss him off more.
“Why do you—why do you always do this to yourself? You’re always finding these guys that just want to take you out to say they were able to take you out. They treat you like a fucking trophy.” He scoffs.
You look at him again, tears still silently falling. Even if you wanted to say something to that, you can’t seem to find your voice.
“I just don’t get it. You’re, like, totally perfect,” he coughs, gripping the wheel harder, “and these guys you find are total douches. You can do so much better.”
“It’s not like there’s anyone better around here,” you mumble while staring out the window, like some kid talking back to their parent for the first time.
“That’s not my point!” His yell rings out against the hum of the engine, the dull drumming being the only sound left as he hangs a sharp right turn. “I just don’t understand why you’re so eager to find some guy that you throw your morals out the door.” Eddie’s eyes dart to you for a moment before looking back at the road.
“I haven’t thrown my morals out the door.” You argue softly.
“Yes, you have! We always said we’d never suck up to the bullshit they want us to do, that we’d never let them turn us normal, and here you are at the fucking prom.”
“Eddie, it’s prom! It’s not like I fucking stabbed my mother!”
“We’re supposed to be the freaks! We’re Hellfire! We piss people off! That’s our whole thing! You can’t just—fuck—just throw that out!” He groans angrily, pulling into Forest Hills, slowing down as you near the Munson trailer.
“I’m not throwing it out.” You say, much more firmly.
“You’re throwing me out!” There it goes, the root of the entire issue. He’s always been worried that you’ll find someone cooler, someone less abrasive, someone who will make you laugh and smile more than he can. Logically, he knows that would never happen, but he can’t help his fear. He throws the van into park and slams the door as he gets out.
Eddie was eight when he met you. He’d been living with Wayne for a little over a year by the time you moved next door, but he was still struggling. His mother left him first, then his father. He missed his mom a lot, but his dad probably caused him more pain, knowing that he had the choice whether or not to stay, but Eddie wasn’t enough. Uncle Wayne was nicer to him than his father had ever been, but that can’t fix a broken kid.
Then one day, you showed up in your ratty hand-me-downs, a year and a half younger than him. He thought that girls had cooties, but you were different. You didn’t giggle or try to hide your gaze like the other girls did when they made fun of him to each other. Instead, you walked right up to him and said hi.
You were new, and you didn’t have the best clothes—he could tell you were probably going through something similar to him—so the kids at school kicked you to the curb. You were just as pretty as the other girls, he thought, if not prettier, as much as a seven-year-old can be. But that didn’t really seem to matter to them. Your lunchbox was plain, theirs had characters.
When the two of you got to be in junior high at the same time, him in the eighth grade and you in sixth, he thought for sure that you would find new, more popular friends. It was incredibly shocking to him that you’d rather hang out with some dorky boy with an ugly buzz cut who’s two grades ahead of you than the other pretty girls, but he wasn’t going to complain.
He’s lived with that fear constantly since then, always preparing himself to see you walking into school one day in some pastel sweater instead of your band shirts and battle vest. He knows you won’t, he knows you’re better than that, and he feels so guilty for always expecting the worst, but he can’t help it.
You hop out of the passenger’s side of the van, holding up the skirt of your dress like some elegant princess. But instead of some grand, ornate staircase, you’re simply walking up the concrete steps of the Munson trailer and following Eddie, who’s storming inside.
“Eddie.” You sound like a scolding mother, tears having dried up a few minutes ago, and you shut the door behind you. “Why do you think so lowly of me?” Your voice cracks with the weight of the question.
Eyes widening, Eddie never realized quite how much his thoughts could affect you until right now. “I don’t,” he says softly. “You’re the best person I know.”
“You say that, but you always think I’m gonna leave you for someone else. You’re my best fucking friend. I’m not just gonna cut you off at the drop of a hat.”
“I- I know that,” he stammers out, a little shaken.
“Do you?”
“Look, I,” he sighs, finally turning around, “I’m just scared. I’m scared that one day you’ll wake up and realize how fucking lame I am, and you won’t want to deal with me and all my bullshit anymore.”
“The world isn’t against you, Eddie.”
He opens his mouth to quip back something snarky, but he closes it as he thinks about your words again.
“You hate yourself so much that it’s beginning to rub off on me, because I’m friends with you, and if I like you, you think that surely there’s something wrong with me, too.”
He’s stunned into silence, your words stabbing him straight through the heart.
“Can you at least tell me why you were being a dick for the past few weeks?” You switch the subject slightly with a sigh.
Eddie takes a deep breath. “Because of Troy asking you to prom.”
“Todd.”
“Yeah, whatever. He was my problem.”
“Why were you mad at me for that, though?”
“I knew he was gonna hurt you.”
“You didn’t say anything about that, though. You just said he was an ass once and then pushed me away for two straight weeks.”
Standing in the middle of the dark trailer, Eddie is presented with two options: confess his lifelong, undying love for you, or don’t. He knows that the only good and honest explanation he can give you involves a love confession, and he hates lying to you. But one thing trumps the fact that he hates lying to you, and it’s that Eddie is a complete and utter pussy.
Eddie is, and always has been, a pussy. In middle school, you acted as his bodyguard—self-appointed, and very passionate—which only made him get bullied worse. You didn’t care. You’d defend him until the end of time. You’d take a hundred tugs to your ponytail or face-plants in the lunchroom so that he wouldn’t have to. You weren’t very loud or talkative in school, until it came to defending Eddie.
To Eddie, you’re this glowing beacon of light and hope in his life. Everything good comes from you. And if he confesses his feelings to you, and you don’t feel the same, that pillar comes crashing down.
But…what if? What if you did feel the same? That’s stupid, he thinks. Clearly you don’t, because otherwise you wouldn’t have gone to prom with another guy. And he’s sure you already know about his big, fat crush, and you’re choosing to act like you don’t notice.
“I’m sorry.” You can tell he’s nervous by the way he’s fingering riffs on the side of his thigh.
“You always get so upset when I talk to guys. It’s not like there can be only one guy in my life.”
“I know that, it’s just–” This is going to be the worst decision he’s ever made, and he knows it, but he can’t stop himself. “--I’m jealous, okay?”
“Obviously you’re fucking jealous, dickweed.” As you call him your favorite nickname, the intent behind his words reaches you, and your cheeks begin to heat up. “…Wait.”
“Have you seriously not picked up on this yet?” Eddie is genuinely surprised at your reaction. “You—you’re perfect, you know that? You’re the coolest person I’ve ever met, and I don’t know how you do it.” His voice is softer than normal.
“Yeah, but—like, are you serious?” You ask.
“I wouldn’t joke about this. I’ve been, like, totally into you forever. I’m surprised Gareth or Jeff didn’t say anything to you.”
“They did a while ago, but I thought they were messing with me.”
“Okay, I honestly can’t blame you for that.”
A moment passes in silence, and you think about how to respond.
“You know, I didn’t really want to go with Todd.”
“What? Why did you then?”
“I hoped that you would ask me,” you admit, eyes drifting to your feet, “but it was kind of a stupid thing to expect.”
His jaw goes slack as he hears you speak.
“I guess that I’ve just kinda had this pipe dream where we’d go to prom together, and I’d be able to dress up all pretty, and we could dance together.” You avoid his gaze, until you hear him scurrying down the hallway.
He emerges back out with his stereo in one hand and a cassette in the other, scrambling to place it down on the kitchen table and shoving the tape inside. He immediately skips to the song he has in mind. The familiar sound of Tommy Lee’s piano starts from beside you, and before you can figure out what’s happening, he’s offering his hand to you.
“May I have this dance?”
A smile grows on your face. “God, you’re such a fucking dork.” Your insult doesn’t come without placing your hand in his. He’s bright red, and he’s never slow danced in his life.
Mötley Crüe’s Home Sweet Home is interrupted occasionally by the sound of feet stepping on feet and the subsequent ow!’s that follow, as well as the flustered giggling of two idiots in love.
Eddie pulls you a little closer, his hands firmly planted on your waist. “You look really beautiful tonight,” he murmurs, “sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.”
He feels extremely underdressed compared to you, him in his favorite torn up pair of black jeans and an Exodus muscle tee, and you in your stunningly gorgeous dress, looking prettier than any princess he could ever imagine.
“Thank you,” you mumble back, flustered, “you don’t look too—fuck!—too bad yourself, you know.” A playful giggle comes with your words, and a huge grin grows on Eddie’s face.
“Yeah?” He teases, looking right in your eyes.
“Yeah.”
“Can I kiss you?”
“I thought you’d never ask,” you giggle, staring right back.
Leaning in, he lets out a nervous laugh before pressing his lips to yours. It’s not some magical explosion of energy that cures all your problems and fixes world hunger; but his lips are soft and warm, and he tastes like weed, gummy worms and a hint of shitty beer, and it feels right.
You kiss him a few more times before the song ends, all quick and chaste but completely full of love. Pulling you along with him, not wanting to let go, he pauses the tape and the trailer goes quiet again.
“Was I better at that than Troy?”
“Todd.”
“Point still stands, fuckface.”
Eddie drags you down the hall to his bedroom, the familiar ambiance warming you like a comforting blanket. Jumping onto the bed with a plop, the boy pats beside him invitingly.
“Can I change first?” You ask, ecstasy of the moment wearing off, allowing you to remember how itchy this damn dress is.
“‘Course. Your shirt is clean if you want it.” He calls it your shirt, but it was his at one point. The old Metallica tee used to be his favorite one, too, which meant it got a lot of wear and tear. But then you started wearing it at sleepovers, and it quickly became your shirt. Eddie didn’t like to wash it afterward because it smelled like you. He always felt like a creep for that.
Your hand tries its best to wrap around and pull the impossibly tiny zipper down, but it doesn’t want to budge. Eddie, watching you as intently as ever, quickly notices and jumps up to help you. His fingers move to your waist, soft and nimble, and gently undo the zipper for you. You let your dress fall to the ground, and he looks away, flustered. It’s not like he hasn’t seen you in your underwear before, but now it feels a lot more serious.
Quickly throwing on the hole-filled Metallica shirt and a clean pair of his boxers, both of you hop back into his bed. You’ve shared plenty of nights here before, but once again, now it feels different. You sense that it will become a common theme for your life in the near future. His hands snake back around your waist and pull you next to him, and you allow your head to rest against his chest.
“So… does this mean you’re, like, my girlfriend now, or what?” A goofy smirk is plastered across his face as he asks.
You try to playfully shove him off of you, to no avail. “Are you seriously fucking asking me that?” You’re trying so hard to act angry, but your giggles give you away.
“Yes, yes it does.” You seal it with a kiss. Then one on his cheek, and the other, and his forehead, and the tip of his nose.

You unlock the door, revealing your dorm room. It’s very basic and bland but you can’t wait to start decorating it to make it feel more like home and a safe space for you to relax in. There are two single beds on each side of the room. Also two closets and tables for you and your roommate who hadn’t moved in yet. Your roommate was assigned to you by the school since you didn’t have any friends or acquaintances that were also going to this college. You’d much rather share a room with someone you know but it is what it is.
You choose a side of the room and sit on the edge of your new bed, looking around the room and taking everything in. You can’t believe you’re actually here. After all the hard work and applying to many different colleges, you got into your dream school. You’d only dreamed about this place in your head and now you’re physically here.
You then leave the room and on your way outside you dial Rafe who dropped you off and then went to find a good parking spot near the housing.
“Yeah?” he answers the call.
“Where are you?”
He describes where he parked his car and directs you to him. You already see him from across the parking lot and give him a wave, which he returns with a big smile and a wave of his own.
The trunk of his car is popped open and he’s already stacking boxes into the carts provided by the school.
“How was it?” he asks as soon as you reach him, referring to the room.
“Pretty okay.” You shrug and grab a few bags from the back seat, slinging them over your shoulders. Then you manage to grab a box of your books as well. It’s heavy but the room is not that far away.
“Are you sure you can carry that much?” he calls after you.
“It’s rude to call your girlfriend weak, Rafe.”
“I’m not calling you weak!” he defends himself.
“Yeah, right,” you laugh. “Third floor, 5th door on the right.”
You leave him unloading the car in the parking lot while you make your way back to the building. On the way to the third floor, you bump into some guys on the staircase.
“Hey! Need any help with that?” one of them asks, hands already outstretched. Since your shoulders are already hurting because of the weight of the stuff you’re carrying, you accept his help. What were you thinking taking the stairs? The elevator was right there.
He takes the box from your hands and lets out a grunt. “Damn, that’s heavy! What’s in here?” he starts making his way up the stairs and you follow, adjusting the straps of the duffle bags on your shoulders. The dude’s friends follow you two, whispering something unintelligible behind your back but they’re too quiet to make out what they’re actually saying.
“My books.”
The guy chuckles and asks where your room is. You tell him and soon enough you reach the third floor. He pushes open the door leading to the third floor dorms and holds it open for you while you scramble past him to your door. You fish out the key from the pocket of your pants and open the door.
“You can just put it on the table.” I let the guy into my room while his friends linger in the doorway.
Thanking him, you throw the bags on your bed. He places the box gently on the table and then turns to you. “What’s your name?”
“Y/N.” You give him an awkward but polite smile, hoping he’d get the hint and leave now but he leans against the desk, crossing his arms on his chest instead. He looks like he’s not planning to go anywhere.
“You wanna come to a party tonight, Y/N? Bunch of upperclassmen are throwing a little party for the freshmen. You could be my date.”
You stare at him, eyes wide. “Uhmm, thank you for the invite but no. I have a lot to unpack and-”
“Oh come on!” he interrupts. “We could have fun and get to know each other. And drink.”
“No, thank you. I appreciate your help and all but I think you should go now.”
“Don’t be like that! You haven’t even given me a chance.”
“You will not get a chance either way. I have a boyfriend.”
“So? You’re in college now, let loose. He doesn’t have to know. ”
Meanwhile Rafe has finally made it to the third floor with the two carts full of your belongings. He pushes them out of the elevator and towards your room. Already from the elevator he can see two guys standing at your door, which he finds very suspicious. He faintly hears the conversation going on in your room and his blood starts to boil. When the two guys standing there notice him arriving, they scurry off and Rafe scoffs before entering your room.
“Know what?”
The guy leaning on your desk is startled and he stands up, not so cocky anymore. “Uhh…”
Rafe now stands between you and the guy whose name you don’t even know. He straightens his back and stares him down with that mean look he has but which he has never used on you. The other guy is obviously intimidated by him since Rafe is basically towering over his shorter frame.
“She said no. She has a boyfriend. So I suggest you leave before I punch you in the face so hard no girl will even look in your direction ever again,” Rafe growls.
“Whatever she’s not worth it anyways.” The guy shrugs and turns to leave. Rafe’s fists are clenched by his side and he looks like he’s about to strike when you place your hand on his back, making him look at you over his shoulder.
“Drop it.” Rafe takes a deep breath and you feel his shoulders relax under your touch.
The guy lets out a scoff as he leaves but Rafe’s eyes remain on you. “Are you okay?” he asks, worry laced in his voice as he turns to face you, hands now on your shoulders.
“I’m fine. He just helped me with my books and he got the wrong idea.”
“A very wrong one at that. I was so close to punching him in his stupid face for even talking to you in the first place.”
You place your hand on his chest, feeling his heart beat under your palm. “You can’t stop every guy from talking to me. You’re not even here most of the time.”
“Watch me.”
“Rafe.”
He rolls his eyes.
“I’m serious. But he was a jerk anyway. I go for non-jerk guys.” Your lips are turned into a slight smirk.
“Do you now?”
“Yeah.”
“Am I not a jerk?” he asks, hands sliding down to your hips, pulling you flush against him.
“Oh, you definitely are, but just not to me.”
“I’d never be a jerk to you. You know that, baby. But you’re mine. I can’t stand the thought of guys like him talking to you.” He lets out a frustrated sigh.
“I know but I can handle myself.”
“I know you do.” But the next time he visits, he hands you a little box which contains a necklace with his name so everyone knows you’re taken.

Their s/o just randomly telling them what their first impression of them was, when they first saw them. They always heard of like their intimidating/cold behaviour or looks, but when their s/o first saw them they didn’t think that. They thought like “Such a cutie patootie! Awww! Look at how adorable he is! I just wanna squish those cheeks!”
Could I request Cyno, Alhaitham, Wriothesley & Diluc with that? (And could I be an anon? 🪶 anon please? Pretty please?)
STAY HYDRATED, EAT ENOUGH AND HAVE A PROPER SLEEP SCHEDULE!
multiple characters headcannons!
"cutie patootie!"
characters: cyno, alhaitham, wriothesley, diluc x gn!reader
author's note: OFC I ALREADY ADDED YOU TO THE ANONS ON MY INTRODUCTION POST^^ i love this and this is probably how i would act if i was actually in genshin aka teyvat idk anyways enjoy reading this!!
Tumblr media
๑ Cyno
-you when you just told him this he still had a neutral look on his face.
-"and they all told me you were so so SO scary! but when i first saw you- I WANTED TO BITE YOUR CHEEKS AFFECTIONATELY!!!"
-he looked a little confused.
-"bite my cheeks?-"
-"THEY'RE SO SQUISHY!!"
-you got closer to him and cupped his face in your hands, basically squishing his cheeks, and then giving him a kiss on the nose.
-"y'know, i still feel the same about you. i don't know what the hell others are going on about."
-he's never received much affection in his life before so he's kinda confused about it, despite his cheeks getting redder and warmer by second, ever if he didn't realize it.
-"uh- thanks?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✧ Alhaitham
-you start ranting to him but the first few minutes he isn't even listening to you and is instead reading some book even tho he said he's literally listening.
-"'haitham! are you even listening?"
-"huh? uhm- sorry- can you repeat what you were saying?"
-you're a bit annoyed but do it anyway, and this time ge actually listens.
-"yeah? what about us when we first met?"
-he's impatient for you to finish but also curious about what you're about to say.
-now he's a bit surprised.
-"I JUST WANTED TO SQUISH YOUR CHEEKS AAH!!!!!-"
-he's SLIGHTLY blushing and has a MICROSCOPIC smile on his face but yeah.
-he's happy to know it but also- how the fuck did you think that he was a "cutie patootie" as you said?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✿ Wriothesley
-bro would be flabbergasted but smirking at you teasingly the whole damn time
-"AND I THOUGHT YOU WERE SO FUCKING CUTE!"
-"mhm..."
-"oh~?"
-"yeah..~
-you would be blushing halfway but he'll let you continue lmao
-then he'd start talking about how he felt when you first met too and it would honestly be really cute imo
-but like okay dude why you looking at me like you'll ask me to kiss youu
-he probably will tho tbh
-not much left to say but he'll really enjoy listening to you and all cuz bffr you're 753 times more special to him cuz you didn't find him intimidating like literally everyone told you
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✯ Diluc
-he'll deny it the whole time that he finds you so adorable ranting to him about it
-but then again he appreciates it
-even tho he wishes you actually found him scary or intimidating
-"AND LIKE- YOU LOOKED SO CUTE THAT I WANTED TO JUST GRAB YOU BY YOUR HANDS AND JUST KISS YOU WHOLE FACE ALL OVER AND-"
-"i don't understand you... how the fuck do i look- what was the word... skrunkly-?"
-you laughed your ass off at that but like okay
-he looked even more confused lol
-but no matter how little he understands you, he'll always be sure to actually pay attention to you cuz he doesn't want you to feel forgotten or worth any less than you are
-he'll do his best to not come off as too rude or mean but he genuinely thinks your thoughts sometimes are weird af
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
loved this one definitely
i didn't know what other word to use except for skrunkly but alr
HOPE YOU LIKED IT‼️

Author Spotlight is a Saturday thing now **checks to make sure it really is Saturday** 😋 Enjoy these gems. They are all amazing!!
pretty in tents by kellifer_fic | 7.6K
Even though he’s making fun of it, Stiles thinks the whole thing sounds awesome and, like most stuff these days, the experience is going to be totally wasted on Scott.
By Moon And Stars by kellifer_fic | 15.9K | Mature
“Have you heard of this Alpha?” Stiles asks, shuffling up his pallet so Scott has room to sit. Scott does with a grateful little twist of his mouth. Stefan forces him into the Stilinski ceremonial armor when they travel and Stiles can see that it’s heavy and doesn’t sit well on Scott. He can’t shift encased in metal and Stefan knows it.
“I know of him, mostly stories that seem a little fantastical. Shifters exaggerate just like common people. They like their war stories.”
“Tell me of him. Tell me a war story.”
Relationship Status: It’s complicated by kellifer_fic | 4K | Mature
Okay, I know this is a huge stretch for you, but can you please pretend you’re like, into me?
the ring of the ancestors is not a euphemism by kellifer_fic | 10.6K
Stiles hadn’t noticed the way the entire commissary had gone silent when the guy had approached his table, or the two military escorts that had been flanking him, looking at each other like maybe they should be intervening but weren’t sure how. All he saw was someone stealing the last dessert from him and Stiles didn’t think about it, he just reached across the table and snatched it back with a, “What the hell, dude?”
tumescent by kellifer_fic (9k)
“I would have to want to date Derek for your plan to work,” Stiles points out, secure in the knowledge that his logic is infallible and yes, he’s had a pointless and soul-destroying crush on Derek for as long as he can remember but nobody knows that.
powerful in-scent-ive by kellifer_fic | 14.5K
Stiles holds up a hand, because he really can’t listen to the bites-are-all-right speech that Derek has given Scott dozens of times. “Dude, don’t.”
insert camping pun here by kellifer_fic | 12.5K
“I’m going to be different,” Stiles clarified. “I’m going to go to parties and make friends and,” Stiles leaned closer into the computer and whispered conspiratorially, “Get laid.”
Dude, what’s a bulwark? by kellifer_fic | 12.1K
Beacon Hills is the kind of small town where everybody knows everybody, and what everybody knows is that surly diner owner Derek Hale and free spirited single dad Stiles Stilinski have been in love with each other for years. If only they knew it too.
has time re-written every line by kellifer_fic | 14.6K
No, dad. Listen to what I'm saying. Yesterday, I was eighteen. I'm not speaking metaphorically, or about the way I feel or whatever. I was eighteen, we lived in the house on Maple, the last conversation we had was about how fries didn't count as a vegetable and I, uh, wasn't married.
Vampires, man. Not to be trusted by kellifer_fic | 9.6K
Stiles appreciates Derek worrying about him being overwhelmed but he really could have used a few overenthusiastic werewolves and impatient humans for his homecoming. He’s felt disconnected because of his forced isolation and would have at least liked to have had Scott on his doorstep when he got there.
monster at the end of the book by kellifer_fic, maichan808 (maichan) | 16.7K
It's not like he forgets about the scar. Just, sometimes it takes him off guard when he's half asleep or run down. It's there, a new companion that reminds him of the world he now lives in, how it's changed and what it's cost. Still, sometimes he'll blink at it owlishly in the mirror like he's doing now, at the way it runs alongside his collar bone and down. It even separates a mole into two neat halves.
i love you a latte [Fic & Podfic] by kellifer_fic, RsCreighton | 6.6K
"You... want me to come to your family reunion?"
"Yes."
"And you'll come to my best friend's wedding as...my... date?" Stiles thinks the whole proposition bears repeating.
"Yes," Derek says again, brows furrowing like he's starting to regret asking.
it's free (and always will be) by kellifer_fic, maichan808 (maichan) | 31.6K | Explicit
Stiles starts looking around, like there's someone who'll rescue him from this painfully awkward situation and Derek can't blame him. All he can think is this is some kind of elaborate prank Laura is playing on him after she'd found his pile of Fangboy back copies last month.
Or, the one where Derek has to marry a human to save Clawbook and it turns out to be Stiles. He's completely doomed.

this is my idea for the spider-man x fangirl thing
so peter and reader are best friends and reader always talks about how much she loves spider-man and peter always rolls his eyes and acts annoyed even though deep down it makes him happy. then one day reader was walking at night when she got like robbed or something and gets saved by spider-man. he swings her to someplace safe and when she calms down she starts freaking out that she met spider-man . you can add more but idk i’m not good at this but that’s jus like an idea??
let’s hope you guys enjoy this.
pairing ➳ peter parker x reader.
masterlist
Tumblr media
“so you don’t think it’s like, a fifth date kind of revelation?” you asked peter as the two of you walked on the pavement. when a reply didn’t come out of your best friend, you looked to the side, only to catch him giving you the same look of exasperation, “what? oh, come on. i’m not in love with him!”
“you’re in love with him.” he concluded, “why do you even wanna know who he is?”
“i don’t know, i’m just-”
“in love with him.” peter reiterated, forcing you to give him a glare to shut up.
“curious.” you said, rolling your eyes.
the two of you walked in silence for a while as you made your way towards delmar’s deli. you had decided to go to peter’s for today’s study session and you were ready to eat off his ear again talking about spider-man. and he knew. he’d seen the new video of himself– the link to which you’d sent him– fighting off four guys at the same time.
you kept him updated on spider-man and even though he pursed his lips and rolled his eyes whenever you started getting all giddy about the new news, the only people who knew you had a crush on peter– well, spider-man– were himself and ned.
after getting your favorite sandwiches, you both made your way to peter’s place, a few blocks away. once you were inside, you made a beeline for his room, setting down your backpack on his bed.
“that’s new.” peter pointed, noticing the pop socket stuck to your mobile cover. you looked at it and nodded.
“there was only one left. i had to buy it.” you grinned as you sat down, pulling out your books.
“if you would just admit it, you’re obsessed.” peter chuckled, sitting down beside you.
“am not.” you raised your eyebrows.
“are too.” peter retaliated, making you roll your eyes at him again, “come on, it’s not a bad thing.”
you shrugged, “i just admire him.”
it was pretty late at night when you left his place, may was yet to come back and you missed her trying to make you stay for dinner. putting your hands in either pockets of your jacket, you began your walk to your place.
but just a few blocks down and you spotted a man in dark grey hoodie and torn jeans. you tried to walk past him but got worried when he started following you. as your steps quickened, his did too. just as you were about to run, the guy held your arm, pulling you into an alley.
you were shocked, he had pointed a knife right at your exposed neck. you tried not to move as he gave you an intimidating look, “hand me your money and we’re even.”
you trembled, trying to open your mouth. your mouth came out shakey, “p-please, i have nothing- j-just books.”
you felt the cold metal pressing against your skin, the slightest sting on your neck as you gulped, closing your eyes as tears pooled in them.
the next few seconds were very confusing. you were free, the pressure on your arm and disappearing as you heard a ‘thwip’. the knife was yanked out of the robber’s hand, and he got a kick to the side of his rib, making him fly further into the alley.
you gasped as your saviour landed in front of you, robotic eyes squinting at the guy, “come on, dude! ‘no’ means no.”
he yelled towards the guy before turning to you, noticing the tears in your eyes, “hey... are you okay? ...miss.”
your mouth opened, then closed. then opened. then closed again.
“it’s okay. i think you’re star-struck.” he tried to ease the tension. you noticed he moved his hands a lot.
“um... thank you for... knocking that guy out.” you wiped away your face and touched your neck, feeling the smallest cut, “i wasn’t planning on getting killed tonight.”
“you should clean that up.” you noticed he moved his hands a lot when he talked. it made your heart flutter a little. on the same night, the superhero had managed to save your life and make you feel all warm just by being the way you’d imagined him from the youtube videos.
you nodded at him, “i will...”
“you can call me spider-man.” he shrugged and you liked the idea that he might have been smiling at you under the mask. you noticed that he was making his voice sound thicker, putting on a heavy accent, but you tried to ignore it, following that he was in a full body spandex suit.
“i will, spider-man.” you smiled back.
“i... could walk you to the home.” he offered, almost immediately adding, “just to make sure you’re safe!”
you nodded your head, “well, unless you have to go save someone else...”
“i’m free for now.” he chuckled as as started leading the way.
as the two of you walked, a silence overtook the atmosphere. you tried to scan your brain for something, just so you could avoid the awkwardness, “i’m a big fan, by the way.”
peter wanted to laugh at your giddy voice. he’d never heard you be this shy around him– which, now that he thought, was making him a bit jealous of his alter ego, “thanks! just doing my job as the friendly neighborhood spider-man.”
once the two of you had reached your apartment complex, you faced the superhero, “thank you, spider-man.”
he did a little salute with two of his fingers, “glad to help.” and with that he took off, swinging away from you.
you sighed softly, feeling a little disappointed at his departure. you went inside and texted peter immediately– characters mismatched and all caps as you typed– ‘THETES NO WAY YPURE GONNA BELIEVE EHAT HAPPED!!!’
peter chuckled, watching the texts come through on his screen as he sat atop your building.
the brunette sighed softly, “man, tomorrow’s gonna be a long day.”

valentines day gift
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary - you purchase a gift for harry like never before
warnings: none really, this is the gift y/n got harry
word count: +1k
pairing: boyfriend!harry x reader
“Dude, we said no presents…” Harry groaned, tilting his head back when you crawled back onto the bed with a gift bag in hand.
“Says he, who bought me a basket of gifts. Which, let me remind you, contained a new polaroid camera.” You argued, kneeling to the side of him on top of the duvet covers.
Harry was sat up against the headboard with the duvet pulled up to his waist. Beneath, he was naked after having countless rounds of morning sex. You two had only just made it out of bed to give each other presents and it was already 11 AM. You had a reservation booked at 2 PM for an afternoon tea experience, so you had plenty of time to love each other this morning as a way to kill time.
“Okay, whatever. Now, here.” You handed him the gift bag, sitting back on your legs as you watched him in anticipation.
“Okay, whatever. Now, here.” You handed him the gift bag, sitting back on your legs as you watched him in anticipation.
He pulled out the card first and laughed at the inside jokes you’d written inside the card. The card itself was one off Moonpig, with a selection of your favourite photos of the two of you scattered across it.
“‘Course you had to mention last valentine’s day.” He chuckled.
“Bro, you were the one that forgot to book a table and pulled the ‘but I’m Harry Styles’ card…” You teased him. “Red flag.” You added.
“Thought you said me calling you ‘baby’ was my red flag?” He asked, closing his hard and reached to put it on his bedside table.
“That’s not a red flag. It’s an ick.”
“How? It’s affectionate. It’s more loving than dude or bro.” He turned back to you, resting a hand on one of your thighs.
“You love calling me bro.”
“Yeah, I do. You’re my bro, dude and pal, but you’re also my baby.” He tugged on your hand to bring your body down slightly. He leaned up and took the opportunity to kiss your lips, leaving a loud smack sound echo in the room.
“I hate you.”
“Happy valentines day to you too, baby.” He teased you, letting you go so he could delve more into the bag.
He rustled the paper around and then pulled out the doll. It was a tiny toy in the shape of a human figure, with your face as the head of the body. Then your figure was wearing an ‘I ❤️ my boyfriend’ t-shirt.
Harry burst out laughing when he saw it, holding it up so he could look at it properly. He laughed so hard the crinkles in the corner of his eyes came through and it made you smile seeing him so happy.
“Wha—” He just laughed again, trying to calm himself down by coughing into the crook of his elbow, “Explain, please.”
“They’re called mini-mes. I thought I’d get you one of me, so you can always sleep with me on tour even when I’m not there.” You explained, Harry’s smile turning into a soft pout when he understood why you’d bought him this.
He often complained that he missed you too much on tour, so you thought what better gift than to give him a mini version of you. One that he can sleep with every night and cuddle close to.
“Y’sprayed your perfume on it too?” He questioned, sniffing the toy. You nodded, watching him smirk with happiness.
“I tried to get you something you didn’t already have.”
“Well I have the real you, just not a mini version of you. This is fabulous, thank you so much. I love it. I love you.” You smiled as he spoke and crawled forwards some more when he held out his hand for you.
You kissed his lips a few times, before laying your body half across his. He made sure the mini-me was laying on his chest too and held his arms around the both of you, kissing both the tops of your heads. You chuckled at the small action and it had Harry laughing too.
“You’re my favourite person ever, dude.” Harry said, rubbing small circles on your back. “Don’t know how I ever got through the years without you.”
“Well now you’ve got the two of us to get you through.” You joked, feeling Harry’s chest rise and fall from his laughter, patting the mini-me’s back.
“I’ll take care of you both. Always.”

Smoke Sesh
TMNT x Fem Goth Stoner Reader
Summary: After ditching class for a smoke break, you're approached by two men with bad intentions. The TMNTs help you escape the alleyway you're cornered in, you guys have a smoke sesh in their van.
Word Count: 1.0k+
<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
It was second period and the monotone voice of your English teacher was putting everyone to sleep. Even the teacher wasn’t into it, just reading aloud from the book while sitting at her desk. Not even bothering to look up as she did so. You picked up your bag before quietly walking out of the classroom. As long as you were quiet, the teacher didn’t care or notice if anyone left. There were a couple of security guards that you had to pass, you would feed them an excuse about going to the nurse’s office and usually, they bought it. As you walk past the front gates of your school, you pull your black cardigan closer to your body. You didn’t realize it was so cold outside, your nose was becoming sensitive and runny. Stopping in a narrow alleyway between two apartment buildings, you rummage through your bag.
Your older sister woke up late for work this morning and was only able to take a couple of puffs out of the blunt she rolled before leaving. You took advantage of this and hastily threw it in your bag before leaving. Luckily it wasn’t bent or damaged to the point of being unsmokeable. After you finally find the lighter you put it into your blunt and take the first drag. It was like you could feel the weed pushing the anxiety out of your body. The rain was getting heavy but it didn’t bother you one bit. Not only were you being kept dry from a fire escape above you, on colder days, but your make-up also lasted much longer because it wasn’t exposed to extreme heat. You were wearing a long black maxi skirt and a thin long-sleeve, both in black; along with black riot boots. Not being able to resist, you take a couple of pictures.
“I bet those pictures came real nice,” a voice growled from the left of you. You jumped and whipped your body to see who spoke. Feeling your heart drop into your stomach, you slowly start to back up; trying to gain as much space between each other.
“Oh, my dad is actually about to pick me up, I have to go,” you lied as you began to walk away, you were walking backward because you were scared to turn your back to him.
“So soon, I’m sure you can be a little late,” the creep said, starting to charge you. As he did so you turned but were stopped by a truck that broke directly in front of you.
“Get in,” one of the passengers said as the sliding door rolled open. You didn’t even look at who was in the vehicle, you were so desperate to get out of the current situation that you didn’t think twice. You took a deep breath and tried to calm yourself down but it was hard considering the severity of what could have happened. After a few moments and tears, you looked up and realized who was in your company. When you saw the turtles you passed out momentarily. When you came to, one of them was fanning you. You immediately sat up but Donnie asked you to calm down.
“Woah woah, don’t sit up too fast. You had a vasovagal response which means you lost consciousness due to a lack of blood flow to the brain. You are totally okay though and your vitals are normal. Did anything happen in the alleyway that might cause you to need medical attention?” Donnie said, lifting his goggles up so you could see his eyes.
“No, I’m just shaken up a bit,” you said, sitting up on a seat in the back of the van.
“I’m sure, glad everything turned out okay,” Donnie said.
“Yeah because you’re way too hot to die,” Mikey said, plopping down next to you.
“Mike! Sorry, he has impulse control issues,” Raph said as he drove.
“Dude! Don’t say that in front of my new hot, spooky, witch girlfriend,” he whispered, blocking your view of his mouth in an attempt to stop you from seeing what he said.
“Is it okay if I smoke in here,” you asked? The van got quiet, the boys looking around at each other without saying anything.
“I don’t know if that’s such a good idea,” Leo said.
“I don’t know, she just went through a traumatic thing. If she’s used to smoking then maybe she needs it to help her calm down, you know?” Mikey said.
“What about contact high?” Raph asked.
“Technically the effects would not be significant unless she was blowing the smoke directly in your face or the car filled with a dense enough smoke,” Donnie explained.
“So is that a yes?” you asked, putting the blunt into your mouth and waiting for a response before lighting it.
After nobody disagreed you lit it again and took a drag, you laughed when you noticed that they were all looking at you. They looked away for a second but it didn’t take long before all their eyes were on you again. At this point Raph parked the van and opened the windows. You were making subtle conversation, asking them if they ever smoked before. As expected, they all haven’t and were surprised when you offered them the blunt. Mikey went to grab it without hesitation and Leo stopped him. After a little persuasion, Mikey grabbed it and took a drag. The blunt in your hand was still pretty big but in his hand it looked like a tiny little twig. He immediately started coughing which made his brothers look around in a worried way. The effects were immediate and he started laughing and joking more than usual if that’s possible. This hummored his brothers, lightening the mood of the situation.
“I just want to thank you guys again for saving me from that situation,” you said again, putting out the roach.
“No worries girl, I'd always be there for my goth girlfriend,” Mikey said, wrapping his arm around you.
“I appreciated that,” you joked back, giving him a kiss on his cheek; leaving a black lipstick mark.

AU where steve and robin own a bookstore+coffeehouse and it becomes their pride and joy.
steve knows everything about every book and loves to give customers recommendations. robin has taken to being a barista like she was born to do it. dreaming up new flavors of cold foam when she sleeps.
it’s in the fall that they get a new neighbor in the form of a record store.
robin is so excited she can hardly contain herself, has it’s grand opening added to the shop calendar as soon as she hears.
when the big day finally rolls around the music is loud, the line is long, and the complimentary drinks are flowing. by the time steve and robin make it over, they don’t get the chance to meet the owners because everything is just so busy.
they retreat back to the bookstore and try to accommodate their own guests and regulars despite the thumping bass from next door. steve gives them some slack, opening day parties are always a big ordeal.
but the loud music doesn’t stop the next day.
or the next day. or the next.
by the end of the second week, steve is watching himself turn into a crotchety old man in real time. he’s had enough of trying to pick a coffeehouse playlist that will hopefully drown out the noise from the record store. it never does.
he marches over as soon as it starts up one day, fully intent on making a scene if he has to when he spots a tall, lanky guy behind the counter. pretty. add pretty in there too.
he’s got his hair pulled back in a clip and a t-shirt for a band steve doesn’t recognize pulled across his broad shoulders.
the guy throws a hand up and waves at steve where he’s frozen in the door. says “hey man welcome in. let me know if i can help you with anything!”
he’s momentarily stunned until the next song picks back up and he can physically feel the floor vibrate under his feet.
he stomps up the counter and slaps his palms against it. jolts the guy to attention with wide, worried eyes.
“dude. could your music be any louder? you know you’re next door to a bookstore right? you know. the quiet place where people go to relax and read?” he gestures with a flurry of his hands.
pretty boy actually looks embarrassed for a second before he reaches over to a screen and decreases the volume.
he wears a sheepish smile when he crosses his arms over his chest.
“sorry dude. my co-owner chrissy had a pretty bad accident a few years back and lost a good bit of her hearing. i keep it up pretty loud so she can hear it. i’ll bring it down some though. sorry it’s been bothering you.”
and oh. steve was not expecting him to have an excuse. especially not a good one.
now he feels bad.
“it’s really okay. i’m sorry i came in a little dramatic. my co-owner robin and i have just worked really hard the past few years to curate our space and i guess i just got thrown off.” he shrugs. “it’s cool though. this is your store as much as the next one is mine, so.”
the guy smiles big and bright and man he really is pretty. steve’s eyes flit down to a name tag that reads “eddie.”
“maybe just bring the noise down a smidge though?” he smiles when he says it so eddie knows he isn’t mad.
he nods and steve hears a clatter come from the back. eddie laughs and hangs his head. “i should probably go check on her. she hid in the back when she saw you on the sidewalk so i couldn’t chicken out of talking to you.”
steve’s jaw drops at the implication and he has to take a second to reorganize his thoughts.
“i- what?”
eddie brings a hand up to the back of his neck in a nervous gesture and his cheeks flush the faintest pink.
“i may or may not have been unable to shut up about the pretty boy next door since our grand opening party.”
steve laughs this time, loud and happy.
“i didn’t even see you!”
“oh well i saw you. chris has been on my case to walk over for days so when she saw her opportunity today she took it.”
steve’s head tilts to the side and he has a playful smile on his face when he says “weren’t you supposed to be checking on her?”
eddie spins around so fast he nearly sends a cup of pens clattering to the ground.”
“shit! i-“
“don’t hurt yourself, rockstar. i’ll see you around eddie.”
eddie’s head swings back around and his face is scrunched up in confusion until steve points at his name tag.
“ah. right. well, i’ll see you around too…”
“steve.”
this time when steve walks through the door it’s quiet enough he can hear the bell jingle above it.

Let the Light In (Nikki Sixx x f!reader)
genre: Angst to fluff
Tumblr media
You’ve heard it all from your friends, to your family, from even some of your colleagues. Don’t date a rockstar unless youre practically begging to be cheated on.
Despite this, you really liked Nikki… and wanted to give this a try
and it had been going well! you guys were about 6 months now and your love was very strong. Nikki was on tour and you really missed him…….. so you decided to surprise him.
You had called his tour manager and they agreed to help you fly out while maintaining things a secret. The day of your flight, you give Nikki a call before you board.
He picks up after a few minutes and you’re greeted with a “Hey baby” in his classic sleazy voice.
you smile to yourself “hi. you up to anything?”
“Not really, doll. Just rehearsal for tonight’s show”
“I see, well I miss you.. wanted to hear your voice”
“I miss you too-“ you hear some chatter in the back before Nikki continues “gotta go now doll, but i’ll see if I can call you later, k?”
“okay, call me when you can-“ before you can say a quick I love you the call is over and you sigh to yourself. “Plane 372 now boarding to LA…” is said over the airport speakers as you pick up your suitcase and get on the boarding line.
————————————————————————
By the time you arrive in LA it’s pretty late and motley already had their show. You check your phone after regaining some service and you have no missed calls from Nikki. Nonetheless, you continue to remain positive and take a taxi to the hotel you were told they were staying at.
Upon arrival, their tour manager texted you Nikki’s room number and you made your way to an elevator.
You exit the elevator to the hallway with Nikki’s room with a bright smile across your face. Just then, you hear some laughter and look up.
Down the hall you can see Nikki standing in the door frame of his room and a.. girl exiting it. They’re both laughing and before she turns to leave she gives him a quick kiss on the cheek which he smiles to.
Your heart sinks and you find yourself in a state of shock. You immediately burst into tears and drop your suitcase. The sound of this makes Nikki and the girl realize your presence down the hall.
“shit-“ he yells your name as he tries to catch up to you. You run to an elevator and press the button about 20 times so it opens. Upon some miracle, just as Nikki catches up to you the doors grant you access and you rush in.
Nikki puts his hand in between the elevator doors which makes them open, he stands in between them. “it’s not what it looks like-“
you chuckle in between your tears “seriously? I can’t believe you would fucking do this to me”
Nikki sighs “I swear to god if you’ll just let me explain-“
you cut him off angrily “NO! theres nothing to explain. I CLEARLY should’ve just listened to what people warned me about-“
To this, Nikki’s face changes from seeking your forgiveness to some type of hurt. “what people warned you about?” he says quietly
I stare at him as more tears fall down my cheeks “they said you would do this to me”
“and you believed them?” he looked at you, now seeming more angry
“well look where we are right now, right?” is all you say before he shakes his head and steps away from between the elevator doors. As they begin to close all he says is “just go back home”
you close your eyes and begin to sob again as the elevator takes you down to the lobby.
———————————————————————-
You were supposed to stay with Nikki in his room, so you didn’t book another one ahead of time. You were going to be stuck on this red couch for the whole night. You start to look for some flights back home.
you hear some commotion and look up to see Tommy and some other guys. He smiles upon seeing you “no way! y/n?! what are you doing here dude?” he laughs as he walks over to you before his smile fades “woah whats wrong? you here for nikki? I can help you find-“
you cut him off as you snuffle “no thanks. I was here for Nikki but I… found him with another girl coming out of his room.”

Tommy stares at you a bit puzzled before saying “Thats a shame… he was just talking about you earlier and how you’re the best thing to ever happen to h- oh no.”
you look at Tommy “what?”
Tommy begins to snicker and you get angry considering, there was nothing funny about any of this?
“He had a meeting with a person we’re looking to make our new manager today. That’s probably who he was with. Did he tell you?” he says as you look at him stunned “Fuck.” you whisper “No… I didn’t give him a chance”
You and Tommy exchange looks and as if you had some unspoken language you knew what he was telling you to do. You get up from the couch and run to the elevator.
———————————————————————-
You knock on Nikki’s hotel room door viciously as tears are running down your cheeks again. You knock for a while until the door finally, slightly opens.
“What now, talk to someone else that told you im cheating?” he says blankly
“god Nikki no I- I’m so sorry. please just let me in to talk-“
Nikki cuts you off with a chuckle “why should I? you didn’t let me talk.”
“Nikki I know I’m sorry I really am. I made a mistake. This is all my fault I just want to make it right please…. let me in.”
He closes the door and you start to sob thinking it was all over. Then, he opens the door all the way and steps to the side. You quickly rush in.
“I’m so so so sorry. I ran into Tommy and he told me you were just meeting with someone you might hire I- is it true?”
Nikki nods not saying anything, he doesn’t make eye contact with you.
“I’m sorry. Truly, I am. I shouldn’t have assumed things too quickly. I shouldn’t have listened to what people said- and I didn’t ! I still went off to date you… but, It just all came back when I saw her leaving your room and I thought my worst nightmare was coming true-“
Theres silence for a moment, then Nikki rushes to your figure and embraces you. You lightly sob into his chest but feel more at peace now in his arms. “I would never fucking cheat on you, princess” he whispers as he continues to hold you.
you nod as more tears rush out your eyes, he pulls away from you and lifts up your chin. He smiles “you’re the most amazing little thing to walk into my life. I would never jeopardize that. I’m so happy you came.” he then leans down and kisses you.
You finally begin to smile as you kiss. It’s passionate as it was the first time you’ve felt his lips in a month. You pull away to catch your breath “well um… surprise?” Nikki chuckles and begins to kiss you again as you two naturally fall into his hotel mattress.
———————————————————————-

Beach day with Bob, Mama, and little man and the boys are off making sandcastles while mama gets to watch and read a book. Then the boys decide to be little trouble makers and drag Mama into the water for a splash fight
So cute. It’s still early days too. So when Bob extends the invitation out he gets really tongue tied and nervous.
“I was wondering if you maybe wanted to go to the beach on Sunday?” You’re halfway through making his morning coffee when you look up to see Bob blushing bashfully as can be as he rubs the back of his head nervously. “My coworkers and I, we like to do a beach day together and have a few drinks and have a barbecue.”
It’s a really sweet offer that you really can’t refuse when it’s as wholesome as it is.
“I’ll uh—yeah I’d love to.” Bob thinks for a second that he’s actually secured the bag. “But—“ Oh. Oh god here it comes. “My son, it’s just mean and him so I don’t have anyone to look—“ You don’t even get to finish your sentence before Bob is interrupting as politely as he can.
“Bring him, yeah it’s a family friendly event. The Hard Deck has a bunch of kids colouring in’s and stuff for after we’re beached out.”
So that’s exactly what you do. And don’t think for a second Bradley and Jake aren’t giving Bob the hardest time in the most brotherly way possible.
“How’s it going over there mama?” Jakes Shouting across the sand at you while you lounge in the sun and read your book. It’s nice to just sit and soak up the vitamin D. Bob just wants to die from embarrassment—he didn’t think to mention that Hangman was unapologetically a hard core flirt. “Wanna join us for a game of dogfight football?”
“I’m good here, thank you though.” You told up your book to signal that you were happy where you were. But then you look over to see Bob and who you only assume is Phoenix, Bobs front seater building a sandcastle just off to the side with your son.
Once you have Bob in your line of sight you don’t stay out for very long before you venture over to see what your little architect had created.
“Woah! That’s a pretty cool sandcastle baby.”
“Bob and Phoenix helped me with it.” He’s a shy little thing, so seeing him this content around new people was pretty exciting. “I’m gonna go get some water to fill the mote up.”
“Okay, I’ll come with you.” Bob comes with you as well. Any excuse to spend any time with you. “You know, he doesn’t come out of his shell all that much since his dad died. But he seems to really click with you.”
“He’s a funny dude.” Bob remarks while he watched the five year old fill his bucket on the shore line. “Also—heads up.” It was a premeditated attack. Your son came racing your way with his sand castle bucket full of water to spill all over you.
“Oh my god!” It was freezing, but you grinned as wide as you could before ducking down to pick your son up over your shoulder. “What am I gonna do with you hey?” But it’s in that moment Bob picks up the now discarded and empty bucket—refills it, and just waits for you to realise. “Bob, no don’t you even think about it.”
“I’m sorry, I made the kid a deal.” He shrugs before tipping the cool ocean water all over you. It’s a mess of squeals from both you and your son and Bob as you all run a muck down by the waters edge.
Meanwhile, Rooster and Phoenix watch on.
“Wonder when the wedding will be?” Bradley chuckles. Natasha rolls her eyes and slaps his exposed chest. He fakes a blow at the contact. “Oof—“
“He hasn’t even asked her on a date yet—let’s get to that first.”

Something like that? PLS
Love you <3
Wow, thanks so much for the request! I tweaked it a bit to fill one of the prompts from here, hope that's okay. Love you 💜
83. “Stay there. I’m coming to get you.”
Tumblr media
When you told him what you and Eddie would be up to Saturday night, Steve groaned so loud you could swear the couch vibrated.
You can’t be serious. And leaving me at the mercy of the gremlins?
“Yes,” you grin, “I’m sure the Harrington babysitting service can handle it.” And then you’re off to get ready for the party. “Knowing you, you’ll probably have some hot date booked for after you’ve dropped the gremlins off.”
It’s not that Steve worries, really he doesn’t, because you’ll be with Eddie and Robin will show up at some point, so at least you’ll be safe. But Saturdays were for movies with the party, taking full advantage of Steve and Robin’s (five-fingered) employee discount at Family Video and hanging out.
Recently, it’s been the only time when he can see you—busy with work and classes and helping Eddie with his GED. All your free time was accounted for, used up, leaving nothing left for him.
He tried (and failed) to be accommodating about it.
This resulted in frequent calls to your house, which your mother or father usually answered with thinly veiled annoyance (Sorry Steve, she just left. No, I don’t know when she’ll be back), interrupted study sessions at Forest Hills (Eddie’s exasperated, ‘Dude, what the fuck. You’re infringing on my right to an education here.’), and drop-ins while you were working at the diner.
In short, it was becoming a problem.
So when you mentioned, last minute mind you, that Eddie needed a hand dealing for a party this weekend and you’d agreed to help out, Steve took it about as well as could be expected.
Which is to say, not at all.
It’s bad enough that he’s making them watch Rocky IV, according to Dustin. But Steve pays him no mind and pops the tape into the VCR. The kids grumble and complain, but otherwise occupy themselves by half-watching the saga of Rocky and Drago.
His leg won’t stop bouncing as he reclines against the couch. It continues for the whole movie. When the film concludes with Apollo’s tragic demise, Max starts sorting through the rest of the tapes.
“What else is in here?” Throws out a few titles as she sees them, The Color Purple, 101 Dalmations, Out of Africa—
“Nope!”
Steve nearly hip checks Lucas in his haste to wrestle the tape from Max. They grapple for a bit, nearly coming to blows but Steve’s not about to hit a child and a girl at that. This sense of chivalry does not stop Max from smacking him upside the head, but he’s victorious in the end.
“And why can’t we watch that particular one?” Dustin ventures with a curious glance to Lucas before Steve settles back on the couch between them.
“I’ll, uh,” he stashes the tape behind the sofa, wedges its case against the wall. “Tell you when you’re older.”
Dustin and Lucas continue to eye each other warily.
Then El pipes up, “Friends don’t lie.” And before Steve can stop her from what will inevitably be an embarrassing calamity—
“It’s a … sad movie,” she continues, “The last time he watched it, he cried.”
Oh. Shit.
He wants nothing more than to bash his head against the wall, but can’t risk another concussion according to the doctors and literally everyone else. Maybe the earth could swallow him whole instead? Anything to end this humiliation.
“Didn’t you watch that with—” Mike begins, because he is an asshole.
“Oh yeah,” Dustin confirms, “They watched it like, a few weeks ago. I mean, her crying I get,” he turns to Steve, an incredulous look on his face, “But you—”
“Robert Redford is a good actor, okay?” He rushes to defend himself, “Very convincing.”
“Okaaayy,” Max drawls.
An uncomfortable silence ensues. The kids settle on watching Clue while Steve takes an opportunity to refill drinks and snacks. Tries to ignore the furtive whispers from the living room. Tries to focus on the popcorn in the microwave and not imagining what you may be up to at the house party with Eddie.
“Why don’t you just ask her out already?” Will says when Steve returns from the kitchen.
The group falls silent, awaiting his response. Keep your cool, Harrington. He sets the bowl of popcorn on the table, doing his best to ignore Will’s probing question. Is almost successful until—
“Steve, you’re literally in love with her.”
He scoffs at Lucas’ blatant betrayal. Helped the kid practice everyday after school leading up to tryouts and this is how he’s repaid?
“No,” he says with a tone to convey the end of this conversation. “We’re friends, just friends and that’s it.”
A beat of silence as everyone pretends to watch as Tim Curry greets the six strangers upon their arrival to the mansion.
Dustin coughs. “Friends don’t look at each other the way you look at her, Steve.”
“Oh my god.” Max looks like she wants to brain herself on the edge of the coffee table at the stupidity of it all.
“Fuck off.” Steve huffs in annoyance, “Like I’m gonna take advice from a bunch of high schoolers.”
“Dude.”
“We’ve saved the world.”
“Like, multiple times.”
“And,” El annoyingly points out, “It’s good advice.”
Thankfully, Steve is saved by the bell. The phone trills its ring from somewhere beneath the couch cushions. Unable to find the cordless, he’s forced to answer it in the kitchen.
“Harrington residence.”
There’s music thumping and cross chatter down the line as he tries to make out who’s calling.
“Steve?”
“Rob, that you?”
A laugh, “Yeah, s’me. How you doin’ babe?”
Her voice has taken on that light, dreamy cadence it gets when she’s tipsy or high and, knowing her, it’s probably both.
“Uh, fine.” He turns to check on the kids in the living room, “Watching Clue. Did you need something?”
“Oh my god,” she rasps, “I love that movie!” A hiccup followed by a chuckle. “Nah, I’m good babe. I’m calling for someone else.”
He doesn’t know what to make of that.
“Rob, you know you called my house, right? The kids are here, if you wanna talk to them but—”
“Nonono Stevie,” she says in a rush, “M’callin’ about your girl.”
“My… girl.”
“Yep.”
The sounds of the phone being handed off to someone else. A few breaths and then, “Hi Steve.”
And oh.
Your voice is low and breathy through the phone, he can hear you giggling about something to Robin as you pull the speaker away from your mouth ‘I’m on the phone Buckley.’
He melts, just a bit. Because he knows that tone very well— when you fall asleep leaning against his shoulder during movie nights or take a brief nap sitting shotgun in his car, all raspy and sweet.
“Hey honey,” he coos, voice incredibly fond. Steve turns, closing himself off from the din in the living room. “Y’doin’ okay?”
“Mmhm, tired though.”
“Is that right?’
A yawn. “Yeah,” he can hear the pout in your voice, “Rob doesn’t wanna leave yet and Eddie went upstairs with someone like, forever ago.”
Steve’s already grabbing his keys from the counter. “Stay with Robin, okay? I’m coming get you.”
“Thanks Stevie,” you sigh prettily, “You’re the best.”
_
Dustin (unhelpfully) advised him to get flowers before he left, so Steve put Max in charge, out of spite. Which unfortunately broke the levy for a barrage of romantic advice from literal children: hold the door, make eye contact, give her your jacket and be on the left side of the sidewalk.
It’d be endearing if it wasn’t so tragic.
He rolls up to the house to find not only Robin, but Eddie too, at your side seated on the sidewalk. He crosses the hood of the car as you stand with a soft smile, “Sorry Steve,” you say, less sloshed since the phone call, but still tired. “Didn’t mean to ruin your night.”
“C’mon honey,” he scoffs, “There’s no way you could ruin my night.” He ushers you to the passenger seat, arm around your waist. He can smell the beer from the keg and stale cigarettes on you, laced with the comforting scent your perfume.
He shuts the door after reminding you to put on your seatbelt and turns back to Eddie and Robin. They look like they’re up to no good— Eddie’s smirking and got that glint in his eye that says he’ll be a problem, all the while Rob has a dopey grin on her face.
“She’s had water and we took the drinks from her a while ago,” Eddie says, waving back at you from the sidewalk. “Try to have her eat something.”
Steve rolls his eyes. Like he needs advice from a dungeon master on how to deal with a drunk.
Robin blinks owlishly, “Ooh, Hardee’s, get her that.”
Steve laughs as Eddie shepherds Robin away. Says something about not fucking it up and using protection. He can’t bring himself to care as he slides back into the car. The radio kicked on as he starts the car, David Byrne rhapsodizing about a girl as she was.
He watched as you bop to the song in your seat, bringing an affectionate smile to his face— eyes closed, hair whipping back in the cool night breeze as you sing along. The axels squeak when Steve pulls into the drive-thru lane.
Try as he might to keep his gaze on you, to watch you a little longer, the intercom sputters to life—a young boy’s voice greeting mechanically but trying nonetheless to adhere to Hardee’s hospitality best he can.
The burger you’d gotten—medium, double meat, bacon, all toppings between—has completely fallen apart in a splat back onto the wax paper in your lap.
“Here, honey.”
He fumbles for napkins. But you wave his worries away, licking your fingers before diving in to deconstruct your food.
“Sorry—I promise I have my shit together.” Another giggle, “Not doing well here. Makin’ a mess your car and everything.”
“I, uh, I think you’re doin’ great.”
The words slip out before he can catch them and around a mouthful of fries, you thank him, and then you take a breath, and he can literally see you winding up for another enormous bite.
“Sorry,” you pause sheepishly, “M’ starving—skipped lunch on accident.” You take the enormous bite he saw coming, and then, “Also doesn’t help—mm—nervous.”
Steve chews on a fry and slurps his soda, driving with ease. “Nervous ‘bout what?”
You swallow and steal his drink, “Weren’t you on a date?”
He blinks.
You blink.
He blinks again.
“No, I was watching movies with the kids.”
His face is so hot that he thinks someone must have thrown a fire into him. Should he have just gone along with it instead? It’s old news by now that King Steve had turned in his crown for a walkie-talkie and chauffeuring a bunch of teens around.
A beat passes and he tries again, now at the end of the meal and the stain on your shirt starting to sink in and spread, heavy enough to dip toward the skin beneath. “Do you want to take your shirt off?”
You choke on soda and add another splatter down your chest, “What?”
“You can wear my jacket,” he clarifies. “Give it back later. I mean, if you…” He frowns. “Uh. Um.”
The beemer comes to a stop in front of he Harrington house. Lights still on in the living room signalling that the party is still there.
You changed out of your shirt, ducking down in the front seat bashfully (“Look away, damn it.”), your old t-shirt in a crumple inside his pocket. His jacket hung a bit loose, but zipped up all the way and it was a good enough cover for a while.
There’s a smear of grease on your cheek from the burger and Steve knows it’s just a personality trait at this point. He laughs when you stick your tongue out, trying to find exactly where it is before giving up and asking him to wipe it off.
He shoves his hands in his pocket afterwards, thumb jammed inside his fist like a souvenir, keeping it there the rest of the walk up the drive, all the way up to the front door of his house before he wonders if he should have been trying to hold your hand.
Maybe not.
“I missed this,” he says, brushing his shoulder against yours.
You hum, knocking your hip against his. “Thanks for dinner,” you say, looking up at him.
“Yeah, of course.”
“And picking me up.” A beat passes. “And the jacket, too. It’s really nice… comfortable and, uh, smells… good. Like, cinnamon and… nice body wash and… trees.” You make a queasy face and close your eyes for a second, pinching the bridge of your nose uncomfortably as Steve looks on.
Oh, he realizes. You must be woozy.
Oh, he realizes. You’re gonna hurl.
“Steve,” Your voice is small and tight, and you look like you’re struggling to take steadying breaths. “I gotta sit down.”
“Right,” he replies. You laugh, rubbing the back of your neck before he turns and unlocks the door.
The kids are passed out on the sofa and reclining chairs in the living room. He locks the door and sneaks you upstairs, hands politely on your waist to steady you on your feet. Guides you to the left toward the guest bath and flips on the lights.
“You alright?”
The fluorescents cast you in a hazy yellow glow, squinting at the bright light. You paw at the countertop for something, water? You turn to open a drawer and find a spare toothbrush— the blue one, yours, a freebie from a check-up and gloop some toothpaste on the bristles. With a nod in response, you begin to brush your teeth, faucet running as you fill a cup of water.
Steve leaves you with a clean washcloth and towel, should you need them, and goes to check that his room isn’t a complete disaster. Bed sheets are clean-ish and he doesn’t have time to run them through the wash, though there’s always one of the guest rooms…
“Hey.”
He startles slightly, not hearing you walk in. You’ve toed off your shoes by the door and are looking sheepish, lip pulled between your teeth. “Can I borrow some clothes?”
“Yeah, sure.”
Steve pulls open some drawers, rifling through for something for you to sleep in. Throws your top into his hamper while he’s at it. He turns back to you with a ‘Hawkins Athletics’ shirt that’s seen better days and a pair of flannel pajamas. Shoves them toward you awkwardly and then promptly turns around to let you have some privacy while you change.
“Thanks.”
He makes a strangled noise of confirmation and clears his throat. “No problem.”
Hearing the rustling of sheets, he turns back around and catches sight of your bare leg as you hunker down in his bed. Heat rushes to his cheeks when he spies the pajama pants neatly folded and placed on his nightstand. You turn on your side, burrowing and fluffing the pillows to your liking.
Steve makes quick work of brushing his teeth and getting ready for bed. Shoes by the door next to yours, jeans shucked into a pile by his desk, keeps his shirt on for the sake of decency, and slips in next to you.
“I appreciate you coming to get me, y’didn’t have to do that.”
His arm drapes against your shoulder while you snuggle into him, casual affection being the norm between you two. He swallows thickly, tries to regulate his breathing when your hand rests against his chest.
“What’re friends for?”
“Hmm,” you consider for a moment. “Friends may not be the most accurate term.”
Steve bristles at that.
“What do you mean?” He turns toward you, heart racing— did you not want to be friends anymore? Did he do something wrong?
Your face is impassive, blank. Steve couldn’t even begin to guess at what you’re thinking, is afraid to even try.
Then, you smile.
Fuck. That smile.
“S-so, not friends then?”
Steve is not a religious man, but he prays that your smile means what he thinks it does. Slowly reaching toward you, he brushes a lock of hair from your face, fingers grazing your cheek.
Mischievously, you lean in, touch him soft on the lips and every beat of his pulse seems to be seeking out the sweet plush of your mouth. “If we were just friends, I shouldn’t wanna kiss you so bad, but we both seem to be … not good… at following decorum, so…” Your eyes light up teasingly, “What d’ya say?”
Steve makes a noise like a whimper. Wow. Babysitter extraordinaire with a bat of nails under his bed and it’s your smile that does him in.
You kiss him again, longer than the last, giggling softly and tugging on his bottom lip like you could pull his entire body toward you with just that. “I’m sure we could find a few more rules to break.”

Genre: Angstish Fluff
Word Count: 1,223
Warnings: Rude Lars(I swear I don't hate him, he just makes a compelling villain lmao), feelings of self doubt.
Solitude is what brings me peace. I can read, listen to music. Do whatever I want, whenever I want.
Then Kirk came stumbling into my life, quite literally.
Back when we were in high school he ran into me in the library. The books I held on to went flying. He saw the Stephen King book I had in the stack. After that incident in some way or another he was always by my side. I was annoyed at first, but the dork wormed his way into my life. Now, years later, not only is he my best friend, I’m totally in love with him. Am I still about as awkward as the first day we met? Absolutely. But for some reason he still sticks by me, even now as he’s living out his dreams of being a rockstar.
Kirk and I were walking to a bookstore, we were in a comfortable silence.
“I like you,” he started, “like a lot. I want to be more than friends.” He continued. My heart was hammering in my chest. I couldn’t think straight. I immediately stopped and turned around.
“Hey, wait! Where are you going?” I could faintly hear him ask as the blood pulsated in my veins. I didn’t stop. Not until I found myself in my apartment. I leaned against the door. I finally let myself catch my breath and process what he said. I’ve liked Kirk forever. And I probably just ruined that opportunity simply by malfunctioning when he told me he likes me.
I jumped letting out a small scream when there was a knock on my door. I held my hand over my heart and opened the door.
“Can we please talk about what just happened.” Kirk asked out of breath. His eyes were wide with worry, scared he’d said or done the wrong thing.
“I’m sorry I speed walked away.” I whispered. He laughed breathlessly.
“I like you too.” I whispered. His eyebrows perked up.
“What was that?” He asked, “I couldn’t hear you.”
“I like you too.” I said again, this time a little louder. A goofy grin spread across his lips.
“Not gonna run away again?” He asked. I shook my head.
Kirk, I came to find out was the best person I could possibly date. He was patient and kind, but he helped me push my boundaries. I became more confident in myself. I mean, at the core I was still me, just with some more pep in my step. I knew I had Kirk to rely on, and he could always rely on me.
I went to the Metallimansion to hang out with Kirk. I quietly entered the house. I went to take off my shoes when I heard Lars talking.
“I just don’t get what he sees in her.”
“It’s not up to you to decide what he does or doesn’t see in her.” I heard Cliff respond. This could be about anybody.
“She’s just so mousy and can hardly maintain eye contact. She gets flustered so easily it’s like walking on eggshells, Y/N is just so annoying.” Lars complained. Okay not about just anybody, this was definitely about me.
“Dude shut the hell up before I punch you. She’s nice, she has quirks just like the rest of us do. Stop being a dick.” Cliff defended.
Tears were streaming down my cheeks as I silently backed out and went home as fast as I could.
I knew it, it doesn’t matter how much I think I’ve changed, it's still the same. I curled up in my bed and just cried.
A while later my phone rang. I sluggishly got up and answered it before it went to voicemail.
“Hello?” I answered.
“Hey, babe. Where were you today? You were supposed to come over, I’m worried.” Kirk’s voice came over the line.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Something came up.” I lied.
“Oh. Okay, that’s fine. Could you let me know next time? I really thought something bad happened.” Kirk said.
“Yeah. Of course. Sorry.” I said in an even tone.
“Are you okay?” Kirk asked.
“Yup.” I answered. Kirk was silent for a few minutes.
“If you say so.” He sounded a little dejected.
“Well I gotta go, bye.”
“Wait, I love-“ he started but I hung up as a fresh wave of tears made their way down my face.
I curled back up in my bed going to sleep trying to forget it all.
My head was pounding, as was my front door. I groaned, getting up and answering the door. Kirk stood outside with a frustrated look on his face.
“Can I come in?” He asked. I couldn’t meet his eyes. I simply nodded and opened the door letting him in.
“Did I do something wrong?” He asked. I turned to face him, my eyes still focused on the floor. “Please look at me.” He practically begged. I took a deep breath finally looking up. Kirk looked really upset. It’s all my fault. It would be easier if I wasn’t a burden to him.
“What’s going on? Why are you pulling away? Please don’t lie to me and say everything is okay.” He said to me, my bottom lip wobbled.
“I heard Lars talking about me to Cliff. It just reminded me you’re way out of my league and it’s best I just hang out by myself.” I said, wringing my hands together. Kirk reached out to still my hands.
“That’s not true.” Kirk said sternly, “you’re so amazing, funny, and kind. I love you just the way you are. Have I enjoyed seeing you more confident in yourself? Absolutely, it means you’re starting to see yourself the way I see you.” He said, fresh tears filled my eyes. Kirk brought his fingers up and started wiping away my tears.
“I’m sorry.” I said.
“You have nothing to be sorry for. Lars was being a dick with whatever he said. Cliff too.” Kirk replied.
“No, not Cliff. He defended me.” I said. Kirk smiled.
“I’m glad. Wanna go cuddle while I tell you all the things I love about you?” Kirk asked softly.
“Cuddle yes, but if you start complimenting me I might combust.” I said, Kirk laughed as he interlocked our fingers dragging me to the couch. He laid down and pulled me on top of him holding me close.
“Any time you start to feel that way, please don’t pull away. Come to me and I’ll give you so many reasons why I love you and think you’re absolutely incredible.” He said, rubbing my back softly. “Oh and I’m kicking Lars ass, no ifs ands or buts.” Kirk said.
“Cliff may have beat you to it, I didn’t stay long enough to hear fists fly.” I said softly. Kirk chuckled.
“Glad I can rely on Cliff to have your back.” Kirk said.
“Me too. He’s a good friend.” I said.
“You consider him a friend?” Kirk asked, he sounded excited. I nodded. “I’m so proud of you.”
“Thank you for weaseling your way into my life. I love you.” I said.
“I love you.” He said, kissing my forehead.
I smiled nuzzling into his warmth. I would be forever grateful for Kirk who came stumbling into my life and stayed, showing me there was more than just books and solitude.
Thank you for reading! Feel free to request or chat :)

Summary:
“Hey, so please don’t freak out–” In the next moment, Carlos could hear a thud, followed by a curse, and he was pretty sure the guy had just hit his head somehow. Carlos winced in sympathy. “Sorry! Sorry, it’s just your neighbor here.” “Dude,” came the reply, the voice sounding rough, probably from all the crying. “Way to give a person a heart attack. Also, creepy much?” “My apologies. The walls here are basically paper with some paint slapped on. So uhm… noises are somewhat muffled but… not really, I guess.”
~*~
3 times Carlos only heard his neighbor’s voice, 2 times TK lusted over a certain officer, +1 time it all melted together.

I cannot thank my team enough 🥰 @juuls, @a-kinkajou, this was such a wonderful experience!! thank you so much for putting up with me, tolerating my rambles and my writer's block, agreeing to switch fics when I panicked, and always cheering me on - and of course for the AMAZING podfic and art respectively that you two created for this fic. I truly hope this will only be the first of many projects we will work on together 😘
Sneak peek and more art under the cut:
one
When the first sniffles came through the wall, Carlos was startled, turning in his bed where he was cocooned in his blankets, book in hand, and in the process of winding down. It was his first night home after a week straight of night shifts and it was his goal to quickly get back into a normal sleep rhythm, even though he wasn’t remotely tired.
The sniffling sound that very clearly came from the room adjacent to his didn’t help in that endeavor, setting all his senses on high alert right away.
As far as he knew, the apartment next to his had been empty for the last few months. Someone must’ve moved in during the week – which was entirely possible, seeing how Carlos hardly had any free minutes between his shifts, helping on the ranch for two days, and covering some extra shifts so Mitchell could visit her sick mom.
What little time he’d spent in his apartment, Carlos had been asleep. So yes, a new neighbor moving in without him noticing was actually quite possible.
That didn’t explain the sniffles though which by now had turned into sobs that hardly sounded muffled. And why would they? His neighbor probably didn’t realize just how thin these walls were. Carlos certainly hadn’t suspected it when he first moved in – but quickly found out the hard way. His neighbor until a few months ago certainly had a thing for loud women…
Contemplating what to do, Carlos tried to focus back on his book. It wasn’t his business why his new neighbor was sobbing so loudly. Or bawling his eyes out by the sound of it. Damn…
Putting the book back down, Carlos closed his eyes for a moment. Two parts of himself were at war right now. The polite side, reminding him that it was not his place, that it would probably be embarrassing for the man to find out that Carlos could hear him; that it wasn’t nice to snoop in other people’s privacy. And then there was his protector side, wanting to make sure the man was okay. It didn’t sound like he was in direct danger or crying because he had hurt himself. But the tears still sounded so full of pain.
In the end, it was his compassionate side that won out, and putting the book aside he turned further in bed and moved closer to the wall. Clearing his throat, he spoke just above his normal volume.
“Hey, so please don’t freak out–”

Can I request y/n and mark estapa have a 3 year old and it’s just like the team baby and they just all hang out and do really cute stuff together!!
wait i’m doing this as a headcanon because i have an idea
you had your baby the summer after high school
the guy was a random hookup who didn’t want a kid at eighteen so you were on your own
well, your parents didn’t disown you or anything but you were the lone parent
you weren’t sure how well college was going to work so you took a gap year
after a year, you decided to give it a try
you ended up meeting mark when being assigned to do a project together
he asked you out after you turned it in and you heart fluttered before it dropped
you informed him that you had a kid and he took a moment but told you he didn’t mind
you went on a few dates but he had yet to meet your kid
you weren’t sure you were ready for that
but you didn’t show up to class and you weren’t answering his texts or calls so he decided to go over and check on you
luckily he knew where you lived since he had dropped you off after your dates
he knocked on the door and you opened it a few minutes later with a scowl
it dropped once you realized who it was
“mark? what are you doing here?”
“you weren’t in class and you didn’t answer so i just wanted to check in.”
“fuck, sorry. danny is sick so he couldn’t go to daycare. i just got him to sleep so i haven’t had time to look at my phone.”
he heard cries coming from inside the house and he could see you sigh
“do you want some help?”
“what?”
“i don’t know anything about sick kids but i can make you some lunch. i can whip up a mean box of macaroni.”
the cries grew louder so you stepped aside and mark made his way in.
“don’t worry about cooking, and don’t mind the mess. i’ll be back in a minute hopefully.”
danny was impossible to get to sleep so you brought him out to the living room.
you pulled up disney plus and settled on the couch, danny fussing until his eyes caught the beginning of the jungle book
mark watched the little boy, completely enamored
it didn’t take long for danny to doze off and then mark was whispering
“this is danny?”
you nodded
“he’s usually bouncing off the walls with energy and he’d be babbling your ear off.”
“well i can’t wait to meet him when he feels better. do you need anything?”
“actually, could you grab that blanket?”
you pointed to a blanket covered in tonka trucks draped over the back of the recliner and mark was quick to get up and grab it
he draped it over danny and then made his way back to his spot on the other side of the couch
“sorry, i know we were supposed to go out again tonight but i don’t think it’s going to happen.”
“that’s okay. i’m having a great time watching the jungle book”
it was silent for a bit
“hey y/n? i was going to ask you on our date later but since it’s been moved to now… do you want to be my girlfriend?”
“you really want all of this?”
two years later and you’re sitting in the hockey box, watching mark help danny shoot a puck into the net on one side of the rink while luca and rutger shot on the other side
it hit the post and went out but mark still cheered
“that was so close, dude! try again.”
danny took another shot, missing the net entirely that time
“awe man, that’s okay. try it again, bud.”
later that night after danny fell asleep, you and mark were laying in bed
it had been silent for a while but neither of you were asleep
“hey y/n?”
“hmm?”
“what would you say if i asked to adopt danny?”
you turned around to face him, finding him serious and a bit nervous
“you really want to?”
“of course i do. i love you guys so much.”
“well, i need to see a ring before that happens,” you half-joked.
mark smirked, pulling you closer
“don’t worry, i’ll be getting both of you soon enough”
“oh really?”
“just think about wearing my jersey but the last name on your back is yours too”
“yeah? you like that idea?”
“gonna get a mini one for danny too.”
“you’re too cute,” you told him, leaning in to give him a kiss
