When Beni first met you, he thought you were gullible and weak. Not in a bad way tho, itโ€™s just he thought you were too nice for your own good. And that would lead to you getting taken advantage of.
Whenever he looked at you, he always saw a smile creep up on your face when you help an old lady carry her groceries. Or when you save a kid from an infernal. Which he thought was kinda eerie because, why the fuck were you smiling after an attack?!?!
But after getting a chance to know you, he kinda enjoys how to keep people at peace In your own (confusing) way!
But that was when you were nice, in a good mood. Even during the early of years of getting to know you; he still hadnโ€™t seen the scary side of you thatโ€™s been masked by pearly whites. Until...that day.
โ€”โ€”
As always, this situation couldโ€™ve been stopped if the citizen watched their mouth๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ. But everyone thinks theyโ€™re right at least one way in every situation. Although if you werenโ€™t there for the beginning of this nightmare, anyone with a brain could tell you were right.

โ€”
To busy thinking, you didnโ€™t see the ivy haired man who had just cut infront of you, tripped, and dropped his things. โ€œHey, watch where โ€˜yer goinโ€™! I know you saw me walkinโ€™ here!โ€ You were shocked to say the least, But being the kind person you are, you just smiled and apologized... It probably wasnโ€™t the best choice since it let the man think he could step all over you and get away with it.
โ€œYea you better be sorry or Iโ€™ll have your head on a stick and feed it to pigs so full, theyโ€™ll just shit and laugh on it!โ€
(All hell broke loose as crowds got bigger, including ur anger)
โ€œExcuse me?! There was NO need for you to say some fucked up shit like that, you could have waited BEHIND me and all problems would been solved.โ€ As you spoke, your smile only got bigger. Which only made you scarier.
Your grin almost touching each side of your face, gums showing each vein, like you had the intent to kill..with scared eyes staring straight at it..
-
Beni had been caught up in the crowds as many started to recognize the scene instead of him. Not the he really minded, he just wanted to go home and rest. But all his tiredness faded when he saw a red floral kimono he had bought for you standing in the middle of this fiasco.
Thinking you were stuck, he reached out to you only to hesitate sensing an eerie aura coming for you. Weird... youโ€™re the nicest person out there. So it could be 1 of 2 things.
1. Itโ€™s not you
Or 2. Youโ€™re mad
1 didnโ€™t make sense since he remembers you walking out of the house, so 2 was the only option. And itโ€™s not gonna end well either.
โ€œHey (y/n)! We should get outta here, you can blow off smoke when we get home.โ€ He said pushing his way through the crowd. Once he got to you he turned to the iffy man and said โ€œ and donโ€™t come near my wife, again.โ€œ
Safe to say you havenโ€™t had any problems with anyone since then. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

ANDESITE (ANDY) MEYWIN - The Millennium Saga [Firebreathers ; Echoseers ; Goddess-Touched]
My brainstorming makes a spiral around the table, still entirely illegible and layered upon itself, despite the ample room Iโ€™ve been given. Still not enough, because even after sending calls for spare Haethrite and Voltimony across the continent, I havenโ€™t pieced together a design that we could test without fear of losing all we have. Today, though, I have another expert in the room to help. Unfortunately, Ember seems as lost in my technical work as they would be on one of the moons.
Basics:
She/her - Trans woman
Sapphic (her sexuality is an enigma but she likes cougars) - 22 (~24 on Earth)
Mae Ehlf - Air Mage
Heavily Autistic-coded
Where she begins:
We first meet Andy when she's in the midst of brainstorming a radio design for her younger siblings to use with Ember's so they can talk late into the night without risking the over-policed streets past curfew. And this context is where we most often see her: deep in her own thoughts, working on some device or another made from discarded scraps scrounged from the more prestigious forges in the area, augmented with Goblin technology rather than the extremely expensive Soulvite expected of proper Starsmiths.
But she makes it work. Most of the time.
Her masterpiece, Wrench--a dragon automaton built to act as security for her rented studio space--still doesn't know not to eat any and all fabric within reach, but Andy's confident she'll find a fix for that. Eventually.
What she finds herself confronting:
Andy's impact on the story is instant and massive, even if she doesn't become a narrator until book three: she's the one who gives the others a safe avenue to determine whether Ember's invitation to the rebellion is legitimate via Wrench, and who negotiates a rather underhanded deal with Emerald K'Ron in exchange for her own services to the Rebellion.
She wants an audience with Eternal Veratrum.
She's always been relentlessly curious, after all. And when the opportunity presents itself, she will always leap on the chance to learn something she's been wondering about.
This is how she blackmails her way into the rebellion. This is how she strongarms her way into the top-secret mission in Glittergale. This is how she sneaks her way onto the ship headed to Deltierin.
This is how she's thrust into the role of saving the world with nothing but scrap metal, her own vague notes, and an ever-ticking timer to reverse engineer her observations before the sea swallows the world whole.
Important connections:
Family: Gab and Annie (triplets), Dian, Iggy, Quartz, and Slate Meywin. Aurora and Mahann Meywin-Tell (parents).
Friends: Nimbus (best friend) and Ember Timber, Beta Altiana.
Enemies: K'Ron Actaea (once she finds out about Actaea's whole deal), Eternal Tieling of Nimia (on principle; also, she thinks he's annoying)
MUSIC
Themes - DRUMS OF GANJA-TAI by Kevin Penkin, Science by Two Steps from Hell and Thomas Bergersen, Dashing and Bashing by Gareth Coker
Vibes - The Flood by aeseaes, Streaks by ANIMA!, Cargo by Puppet

Not really a formal post, I'd just like to say planning a book is very hard. And not having anybody to talk to or ask for help is stifling. I wish I could make real progress already.
Currently the focus of my studies has been feminist theory and it's opened my mind to a lot of possible avenues of discussion, but it's also so dense... and the deeper I get into both feminist theory and feminist film theory I wonder how the hell I'll be able to fit everything into one book. I have no idea how to divvy up the subjects or create a sensible throughline. I'm not even sure what my thesis or argument is anymore. Everything is kind of mixed up. I'm stressed and haven't been getting sleep.
My main thoughts at this time are:
Bimbos are the ultimate synthesis of pornography
"Bimbo" is a celebration, and burlesque, of femininity
And once I start writing the book there's so much I'll have to go over, even before I actually get to the fetish. Rosalie Duthe, maybe Clara Bow, Anita Loos, Jean Harlow, Mae West, possibly Lana Turner, Betty Grable, Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Raquel Welch, Sharon Tate, BARBIE, Ann-Margaret, Jill St. John... and that's before I even hit the 70s. There's SO much that goes into bimbos. I've been highlighting so much... and idk why I should even bother when Mina Le's already done a surprisingly thorough overview.
Anyway, I'll share some of my highlights. I recently read the original Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and its portrayal of a bimbo is incredibly for something that was written nearly 100 years ago.
Tumblr media
In the movie, Marilyn's Lorelei is a gold digger that plays dumb because it's "what men want". Book Lorelei is an actual dummy, and a much more fun character. What's interesting is that she's a lot more "proper" character compared to her brunette friend. She's sort of like a modern Instagram trophy wife in that way; a bimbo aspiring towards class, despite an inherently unclassy nature she seems not to recognize. Despite how proper she wants to appear she has a serious lack of interest in anything even remotely serious, naturally preferring scandal and titillation. It's a very well-written book.

The 16th Street Baptist Bombing (September 15th, 1963)
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
In the 1960s, Racial tension was at an all-time high. Many African Americans were doing their part in the fight for equal rights. A fight that claimed many innocent black lives.
Even the lives of four little girls.
This is the story.
The 16th Street Baptist Church was organized in 1873 as the first colored Baptist church in Birmingham, Alabama.
Many civil rights protest marches took place on the steps of the 16th Street Baptist Church. It has long been a significant religious center for the Black population and was a meeting place for civil rights organizers such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In the 1960s, Birmingham, Alabama, was one of America's most racially discriminatory and segregated cities and had one of the strongest and most violent chapters of the KKK. The city's police commissioner, Eugene "Bull" Connor, was known for his willingness to use brutality in combating radical union members, demonstrators, and innocent black citizens. Alabama's governor, George Wallace, was the leading opponent of desegregation.
By 1963, homemade bombs being set off in black homes and churches were such common occurrences that the city was given the nickname โ€œBombingham."
On September 15th, 1963, at 10:22 a.m., some 200 church members were in the building; most were attending Sunday school classes before the 11 a.m. service that morning.
A dynamite bomb was set off in the back stairwell, and mortar and bricks were thrown from the front of the church, caving in its walls. The violent blast ripped through the wall, killing four young African-American girls and injuring more than 20 others.ย
14-year-old Addie Mae Collins, 14-year-old Denise McNair, 14-year-old Carole Robertson, and 11-year-old Cynthia Wesley were in the basement of the church's ladies' restroom when they were crushed by the rubble.
Addie's sister, Sarah Collins, survived but lost her right eye.
The bombing of 16th Street Baptist Church was the third bombing in 11 days after a federal court order mandated the integration of Alabama's school system.ย
Upon learning of the attack, Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. sent a telegram to Alabama Governor George Wallace. He stated bluntly: "The blood of our little children is on your hands."
In the aftermath of the bombing, thousands of angry black protesters gathered at the scene of the bombing that same evening, and violence broke out across the city. Governor Wallace sent police and state troopers to break up the protesters. A handful of protesters were arrested, and two African-American youths were killed.
One at the hands of the police. And the other was murdered by a mob of white men.ย
This all happened before the National Guard was called to restore order.
The deaths of the four girls and the brutal attack shocked the nation and drew international attention to the violent struggle for civil rights in Birmingham.ย
Many whites were as outraged by the bombing as blacks and offered condolences to the families.
Over 8,000 people attended the girls' funeral services at Reverend John Porter's Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. The family of the fourth held a smaller private service. Dr. King spoke before the 8,000 people at the service.ย
It was a clear act of racial hatred, -- as the church was a key Civil Rights meeting place and had been a frequent target of bomb threats. KKK members routinely called in bomb threats intended to disrupt civil rights meetings and services.ย
In the investigation of the bombing, many of Birmingham's white supremacists and even certain individuals were immediately suspected. Repeated calls for the perpetrators to be brought to justice went unanswered for more than a decade.
It was revealed later that the FBI had information concerning the identity of the bombers in 1965 but did nothing.
The head of the FBI at the time was J. Edgar Hoover. He disapproved of the civil rights movement. It was rumored and claimed that Hoover held back evidence from prosecutors and even tried to block prosecution. He later died in 1972.
In 1977, Alabama Attorney General Bob Baxley reopened the investigation.ย
Klan leader Robert E. Chambliss was brought to trial for the bombings and was convicted of murder. He died in prison in 1985, still maintaining his innocence.
Later in 1980, 1988, and 1997, the case reopened again when two other former Klan members, Thomas Blanton, and Bobby Frank Cherry, were finally brought to trial. Blanton was convicted in 2001, and Cherry in 2002.
A fourth suspect, Herman Frank Cash, died in 1994 before he could be brought to trial.ย
The legal system was slow to provide justice, but the effect of the bombing was immediate and significant.ย
The outrage over the deaths of the four young girls helped build support for the struggle to end segregation. Support that would lead to the passage of both the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
But even so, it couldn't bring back four young lives that were lost in an act of hatred.

Chapter 2 - Mersea Island
'Welcome to Mersea Island' read the sign that greeted the eager holiday goers, packed tightly into the bus that cruised over strood. Separating the little paradise from the rest of the country, that Mae Murray found so incredibly boring. She leaned her head gently to the window, pushing her tatty hair into her eyes. Peering through the strands she chased the birds that flew overhead, while the children seated behind her bashed together plastic spades and buckets as if to make the driver hurry faster.
The heat was a force as the doors swung open revealing the skyline of a truly english seaside. However Mae was not drawn to it, but rather the pavement that danced before her as she wandered down Seaview Avenue. It was the perfect day for the beach, and it was clear that people from every corner of Essex agreed. The seafront was a maze of pink, sunburnt bodies. Hats of vibrant colours bobbed across the shore. Mae adored the scent of the ocean, however on this particular day it was masked by the strong stench of sunscreen, and chips being served at the cafe that sat just before the sand. She weaved through the crowds, passing the rainbow of beach huts that stretched along the coast, collecting shells and stones along the way. The heels of her boots sinking into the sand with every step. The further she trekked, the crowds began to simmer down, as did her anxiety. She craved the peaceful bliss of the waves, the emptiness of the horizon. As she saw the perfect spot before her, she collapsed into the sand that gently caught her limp, exhausted body with a warm embrace. Burying her head into her knees, she began to weep, drowning in her own bitter tears.ย
Mae was an artist, she always had been. Since a young age she found her true expression in her imagination. Her rooms were filled with drawings of fantastical things, places she'd dream of, creatures she created. She danced around her grandparents living room, dressed as fairies and princesses. A little girl, who lived in her own head.
And now, she sat by the shore, defeated. This place was her new escape. Her only solace. She rested there for many hours, watching the people scurry past. She was fascinated by strangers, always wondering the innermost details of their lives. What their living rooms looked like, or what their plans were tomorrow. Perhaps it was that she knew she could never approach them, so instead she continued to make up little stories in her head. Making up her own world, to cope with the real one. Maybe the lady in the green hat has a flat with a grey sofa, maybe she'll have pasta for dinner. Maybe she has a dog, or a hamster. Maybe she is divorced, Mae wondered as the lady disappeared into the crowd of sunbathers.
Her thoughts abruptly halted at the sound buzzing in the sand beside her. It was her phone, flashing a reminder that her shift began in 2 minutes. Mae pulled herself together, coming back to the reality of her day, before sprinting across the sandy shore to the little cafe on the corner.
A sharp painful flash hit her eyes as she approached the pavement, seemly a reflection of the beaming sun, in what appeared to be a small, shiny object laying on the ground. Squinting, Mae reached forward to inspect, and dangled the object at her eyeline. She had picked up the most beautiful necklace. A dainty chain, embellished with tiny iridescent pearls. At the bottom, a pendant in the shape of a scallop shell, that reflected an array of pastel colours that glistened like pure magic.
Without thinking, Mae called out ahead of her.
"Ex... Excuseย  me!" She stuttered, realising what she had done. "Is.. is this yours?"
Looking up, Mae saw a swish of silver blonde hair turn towards her, revealing gentle ocean eyes and soft lips. The eyes grew with wonder, as the girl reached for her neck, realising it was bare.
"Yes, it is." She said, with such a calm delight.
Mae's eyes darted to the ground, as a sense of her usual panic about human interaction took over. She handed the necklace over to the girl, gazing at the bottom of the pale blue dress she was wearing. Suddenly, a warm, gentle touch reached her arm. Mae looked up, and their eyes met. The girl softly ran her fingers down towards Mae's elbow, ever so casually.
"Thank you," said the girl, with pure gratitude.ย  "So much," she smiled.
Before Mae could even think of how to respond, the girl turned away, skipping ahead to her two friends. One with silky, dark hair, wore a similarly silky sage green dress. The other followed, with cosy brown waves that reached her bum. Mae tried to get a look of them before they disappeared into the crowd, but within a moment, they were gone.
'Seaview Beach Diner' read the sign above the door that Mae barged through.
"So sorry I'm late!" She apologised.
"As usual!" Replied a friendly, sarcastic voice from the kitchen.
It was a chaotic shift. The room echoed an array of childrens voices, laughing, crying. Angry parents, happy parents, exhausted parents. But all Mae could think about were those girls. Truthfully, she thought they were beautiful, beyond beautiful. It was hard for her to admit to herself that when their eyes met, the world stopped. It was like the ocean really was in those mysterious blue orbs, and in that moment, Mae was in her peaceful place. No chaos, no harm, just the familiar comfort of the rolling waves.
Sunset had fallen by the time her shift had ended, she stepped foot back onto the dusky beach front. The families and holiday goers had finally headed home. Tranquility had returned.
Mae burried herself down into the sand once more, and pulled a journal out of her worn out bag. As she opened the deep blue cover, the wind swiftly caught the pages, flicking through endless sketches the girl had created. She held a pencil between her fingertips, and with such care took the lead to the empty paper. For a moment, her mind was blank, unable to conjure anything from the depths of her imagination. Her deep brown eyes gazed out towards the water that now reflected a peeping moon, leading her thoughts back to the pretty face that had greeted her hours earlier. And without a thought, her pencil moved.
Soon all that remained was the beaming moonlight which glistened in the soft waves. Mae was now squinting at the page before her, in order to see her creation. Under her now blunt pencil was a glorious mer-creature. Delicate fins and shimmering scales swirled across the paper with gentle strokes and sketch lines.
A tiny smile creeped across her chapped lips as she carefully began to tear the drawing out of the book. Mae had lost her spark recently, as if her desire to create had been sucked right out of her. But today something was different, and by what felt like a miracle to her, she was once again inspired.
As the page broke away from the journal, the wind once again picked up, snatching the paper from her hand and carrying it away. Mae leapt forward, reaching out as the paper danced through the salty darkness. She soon found herself running ahead, desperate to catch her masterpiece as her breath echoed in her ears.
With a quick splash, a cold sensation trickled across her body from her toes. She was going in. Focused only on the paper, she had barely even noticed the depth she was reaching as she dragged herself through the force of the waves. The paper was but millimetres away from her grasp as she threw herself forward. Suddenly, the sand beneath her feet gave way, sending her plunging into the pitch black depths below. A cold weight dragged her down, sending her limbs in all directions. With a sharp thud, something smacked against her.
And then, nothing.

Love is in the Air
The Sunset Valley Times has compiled a list of Spring/Summer birth and wedding announcements and extends congratulations to all the new parents and newlyweds!
Births

Howie Easton and Sheena E, of 250 Redwood Parkway, welcome their son Lawrence Easton to the world!
Wogan and Morrigan Hemlock of 373 Skyborough Boulevard welcome the birth of their son, Dorian Hemlock. Parents report daughter Belisama is adjusting well to being a big sister.

Rich and Sadie Richmond are pleased to announce their son, Derek Richmond, was born recently. While both are excited to be parents, their excitement pales in comparison to their parents, who have flown in from Sunlit Tides to dote on their new grandson.
Claire Ursine of 5 Sun Song Avenue welcomes a daughter, Joy Ursine.
Weddings
Oriole Bird and Stiles McGraw tied the knot recently. Family and friends gathered to watch the happy couple share their vows. The couple also released a pair of doves after the ceremony, which reports say Oriole and her sister hand-raised since hatching.
Lily-Bo Chique and Argus Brown wed in a small ceremony. The guest list was limited to their close family and friends. Attendants said the ceremony was a lovely, but complained about Argus' mom's howling cries as her little boy tied the knot.
Helen Hall and Malcolm Harris are thrilled to announce their marriage this past week. Although Helen took Malcolm's last name, Malcolm was the one to move in with Helen. They now share the giant Goth mansion at the end of Skyborough Boulevard, despite rumors of the place being haunted.
Yasmine Ferrari and Nathan James wed in a small nighttime ceremony surrounded by friends and family. Instead of a reception, the newlyweds spent their money on an extended honeymoon in Champs Les Sims.
Zelda Mae and Glenn Lockwood tied the knot recently in a ceremony for the ages, with the reception lasting a whopping three days. Blair Wainwright of SVPD said there were a record number of noise complaints. Zelda's sister Illiana Langerak and her family were invited, but apparently out of town that weekend.
Sadie Mason and Rich Richmond were so eager to get married that they ran down to City Hall the week after Rich popped the question! Friends shared that the happy couple will be honeymooning in their home town, Starlight Shores.

ย  ย  ย  ย  ~ โ€œThe wedding necklace of natural pearls was the jewel par excellence at the end of Victorian England, a precious piece of jewellery that was passed down from mother to daughter. The posted necklace adopts a most interesting technique, namely that of natural pearls cut in half. In this case, the half-pearls, weakened by the cut, are set on a gold base forming a vine leaf, which has the advantage of protecting them from the acidity of the skin and preserving their durability. Such a time-consuming skill is proof that natural pearls were very rare and therefore so precious that they were even worth more than diamonds. On the other hand, what makes me think that this wedding necklace was a special order is the fact that half-pearl jewellery was mainly made in 15-carat gold, but this one exceptionally uses 21-carat gold, however this method of pearl setting was not possible with platinum, a metal that Louis Cartier was one of the first to use on his new creations, around ยฑ 1920. As a victim of fashion, this type of necklace fell into oblivion until it disappeared completely. As for the chain, it is a marvellous suite, always of half pearls set in small boxes in the shape of a shield connected by a simple ring.Natural pearls were so rare, until around 1920, that Pierre Cartier, the youngest brother of Louis Cartier, exchanged a perfectly matched double-stranded necklace for a building at 651-653 Fifth Avenue and 4 East 52nd Street in New York City, owned by the billionaire Morton Plant and valued at $1,000,000, which Morton Plant promptly offered to the beautiful young Mae Plant, his second wife. In 1917, the necklace in question also cost $1,000,000 (the equivalent of $21,150,600 in 2021). This was the price of the building, which is still the official headquarters of Cartier in New York. However, this same necklace sold in 2021 by Christie's was worth only $1,495,000.โ€ ~
