Origins of Briar Valley

Once upon a time, there lived a simple fairy. Simple, in that she was made purely of ambition, and nothing else.

She lived upon a withered land, cold and dreary, filled of ugly, evil things.

How dreary. How drab and boring, she thought.

In this desolate land, any finery she desired must be crafted with her own hands, any luxury brought into the world through her talents.

And talented she was. She of a thousand spells, who had spun a dozen tapestries in a fortnight, who brought forth a castle into being simply through desire, what could she not do?

Yet it still wasn’t enough. All that surrounded her was an unchanging landscape of grey. But this land was resistant and unyielding. How could anyone live here but for her?

And so, she brought forth her magic, her will upon this world, and swallowed those ugly things, one after another, until all that remained were the black thorns of her will.

All that power, all that magic, she drove into the earth, fed and fed until life burst forth. First, from storm and lightning, rain to flood the lands, carving rivers and lakes into the earth.

And from that water came life. All across the land grew grass, then shrubbery and trees, until whole forests burst forth to cover the land.

And that is how Briar Valley came into life.

Here's my try on the grayscale challenge on TikTok! I couldn't figure out what colours I wanted to use so I just chose a generated palette that I thought would best match Maleficent's palette! Yes; I am well aware of the fact that I'm insane.

I ship Borra and Elina SO FREAKIN HARD!

I even talked to a friend about this and they said 'Dude, I could see it. She could teach him the power of friendship and he could soften up.'

I was trying to write a story just to justify this shit but it didn't work. Not because of the ship though. It was the story that fell apart. Trying to come up with a way for them to interact was the issue. Not the actual interaction. That was going great!

I had Borra meet Elina before she got her wings so he thought she was human, but he saw her trying to help some fairies caught in a trap and watched the iron burn her hands.

The story was so much fun to try and figure out! It was going to be canon compliant to both franchises and I had a timeline worked out and everything. I'm just bad at writing! It would have been great and I was so sad to realize that the fic was dying on me.

Btw, I know Margot Robbie should be the obvious answer, but I personally see Samara Weaving as a live action Elina.

Yes; I want a live action Barbie: Fairytopia movie and I am not ashamed to admit it. Those were my favorites growing up. (Mariposa and her Butterfly Fairy Friends was and is the GOAT.)
