James Potter as a young dad.
Random person: Don't you miss being young? Like partying and snogging around and getting drunk. I mean it must be difficult to do it now that you have a kid.
James: What do you mean? I party to Disney songs. I snog my wife. And I get drunk on juice and chocolate milk.
Random person: You know what I mean, Potter.
James: *looking at Lily playing with Harry, his six year old kid and smiling* Lily and Harry are my world now. I would not change a thing.

I was mulling over Harry Potter recently and I think one of the reasons it doesn't really appeal that much to me is the worldbuilding is not my cup of tea. In the context we are given wizards and witches are far too powerful to be hiding from Muggle nations. Wizards have the capability to mind control, memory wipe, easily create Muggle-repelling charms over entire locations that confuse and disorientate, as well as have teleportation, portkeys, Floo powder, spatial magic, invisibility, etc. Wizards sharing a planet with Muggles is positively Lovecraftian, like Cthulhu being just next door and closer.
With basic evolutionary patterns, Darwinism, the fact wizards can be disappointingly human and their leanings to fascist elements in their history (so many Anti-Muggle Dark Lords), they'd have wiped Muggles out by the BCE period, or at least not be hiding from them in a way that's the equivalent of the United States hiding from Monaco. It wouldn't take that many wizards, and in the book we are provided no evidence of our Muggle tech being able to withstand something as dynamic, tricky and reality warping as magic.
Power Dynamics
Tumblr media
"They can strike anywhere at any time before anyone knows it."
The power dynamic from what we are shown in the books are very wonky and infinitesimally so unequal one begins to wonder if owls hide from slugs. Perhaps if JK Rowling had depowered wizards more by incorporating clearer weakness and faults in the magic system, such as perhaps no apparition (I mean, they already have portkeys, Floo powder, brooms, greedy wizards), more limits to the mind control like showing Muggles can fight it off, made wards and Muggle-repelling charms more fragile (maybe have that they can only be set up in certain geographical places either choking with magic or idk related to runic stuff and ley lines), as well as perhaps indicate that the average shielding charms can't withstand heavy kinetic onslaught from a heavy duty weapon like an AK-47, etc., it might have felt more understandable why the Muggle World and Wizarding World have the relationship they do.
Because, in the canon, we are given no concrete reasons why the wizarding world chooses to hide other than Muggles being a bother, probably asking for cures to cancer or something. In the canon, we are never presented with any Muggle technology that justifies the Wizarding World being under threat if the Statute of Secrecy breaks. We can speculated, but we can speculate either way depending on our mood. You'd think this would be more defined since the conflict centralises on Wizards and Muggles (including their offspring) existing.
Ethical Concerns For Mugs
Tumblr media
"With this rep, I guess we deserve to be mindwiped whatever our consent."
Regarding certain implications in the books, there are a number of ethical concerns that don't feel they're given the weight and attention they deserve considering the themes. One is the overuse of memory charms, a mental violation which are hinted to cause brain damage. Considering how much wizards obliviate and violate Muggles' minds as well as cover up their deaths, that's practically fridge horror. Wizards, both good and bad, also often subvert Muggle democracy and freedom of information, and are quite authoritarian and devil-may-care about this. The Harry Potter narrative never really fully tackles this or shows any real critiques or changes in regards to the Statute of Secrecy and Muggles.
Considering the over all message of the books is anti-authoritarianism, anti-fascism, freedom and even saying Muggles aren't 'lesser' beings, these actions contradicts the themes and kind of makes all the wizards look pretty morally bankrupt when they continue to do this even after the 17 Years Later epilogue. In all honesty, this actually impacts the characterisation of our protagonists in a way I don't particularly like, especially since Hermione is Minister For Magic for a period of time.
Muggles & It's Just Fantasy
Tumblr media
"Hi boring people we're fighting an entire conflict over, just passing through."
Suspension of disbelief is a tricky thing and so is the way a writer earns it. I think it would be more okay if Harry Potter was a purely separate fantasy world similar to Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones, but the author has Muggle society (aka our 'logical' world) develop the exact same way despite sharing the planet with the logic-breaking magical world since the dawn of time and evolution. With all the factors shown in HP, these powerful, reality-warping wizards would fuck up our history and society so much we Muggles would either be dead or coughing out live elephants every time we ate a salad on a regular basis.
Over all, I feel the Muggles need to be more of a threat and have more going for them to explain why the wizards are hiding from them. Otherwise a wizard could teleport around the land of Muggles and just put Muggle-repelling charms on the British Parliament, all the nation's hospitals, police stations, banks, etc. and just watch the chaos. Okay, next stop, the Nuclear power stations and missile silos. By the Muggle world existing it intrinsically forces reality into a fantasy that doesn't want it.

Tomarry AU where Harry and Tom grow up together during the war and end up starting a secret club together. It's a club for muggle-borns only; so that they can help each other survive during the war. This is an AU where Tom and Harry start club for children who has no home to return to. A world where they help each other so that they don't have to return to that place.
Imagine, them starting a club to just survive— imagine, them working together so that they make it — imagine all of them working together to figure out a way to just stay instead of retuning to a home that is no more. Just imagine, this club becoming something more, something bigger — something that will change the world one day.

okay, here are some of my headcanons for narcissa and regulus as the black family members who know what it's like to be left behind.
narcissa is 3 years younger than bellatrix and 2 years younger than andromeda so she has to watch her sisters go off to hogwarts and is left alone for 2 years by herself.
so when regulus is sorted into slytherin and sirius has new friends in a new house and is 'leaving him behind' narcissa takes him under her wing
narcissa is a seventh year and head girl and regulus is a first year and very tiny so it's very easy for her to sneak him into hogsmeade with her
narcissa used to play quidditch and loved it with everything she had (she was a keeper if u care) until her family (and lucius) made her quit in year six so now she spends her free time coaching baby regulus and helping him with his flying since she doesn't get too
narcissa employs regulus to help her study for her N.E.W.T.S (potions is her best class) and that's how regulus discovers his love and talent for potions (she teaches him all the upper class information so he's ahead of his classmates)
regulus and narcissa are both the observant ones of their families (it's why they're both so good at quidditch and why they're seekers and keepers respectively) and that's why narcissa is the only one who notices how regulus flinches whenever sirius "acts up" at family events
narcissa uses her age and slughorn's admiration to get permission to check out books from the restricted section for regulus (under her name ofc) not at all caring that he's a first year and shouldn't be reading them. (if regulus asked for it, she would get it for him)
regulus and narcissa are both early january capricorns, their birthdays are mere days apart (in my heart this is true!!)
when narcissa graduates she gives all of her potions notes and her special lucky caldron to regulus along with her old broom (regulus uses it even though orion bought him the best broom on the market)
narcissa opens up her house to regulus summer before his fourth year and she takes him to hogsmeade and buys his school supplies (bc things are BRUTAL between sirius and walburga and regulus has to Get Away) and they talk about surviving is a balance of complying in public and rebelling in private
regulus asks how narcissa rebels in private and she tells him about alice
they both wonder if andromeda and sirius are simply surviving like they are or actually living.
voldemort gives lucius and narcissa the diary horcrux to hide, but narcissa doesn't know what it is really and winds up telling regulus about it which is what tips him off the horcruxes
regulus making a plan to tell narcissa about the horcruxes so they can figure out how many have been made and take voldemort down in secret whilst complying in public--together. but he just has to destroy the locket he found out about first.

The Patchwork of Us
Tumblr media
My darlings, this story is now finally complete and what started as a crazy NaNo project turned into this. I had no idea this silly little Muggle AU about Wolfstar being forced to co-parent Teddy against their wills would turn into such a massive story, but it's truly been a fun journey.
Thank you to everyone who has been following this story from the start and who have been encouraging me with kudos and comments. You are the best and I appreciate you all so much!
Title: The Patchwork of Us Pairing: Sirius/Remus Rating: E WC: 77.3k Tags: Muggle AU, Slow burn, Enemies to Lovers Warnings: Referenced child abuse, PTSD, panic attacks Summary: Remus had never wanted to be a father, and when Tonks told him she was pregnant he walked away. Sirius didn't have a child of his own, but he considered Teddy to be his son in all but blood and when Tonks fell ill, he never hesitated to open his home to them to help her with the boy. When Tonks passes away, Remus is faced with a choice: step up and be a father or stay out of Teddy’s life.
However, reappearing in Teddy's life is not easy. Sirius has trouble forgiving Remus for walking out on Teddy, and Remus thinks Sirius is a stuck-up, posh, know-it-all who believes he is better than everyone else. Now they’re supposed to co-parent a child while also navigating their own complicated feelings about the situation, and each other.
Read on AO3.
Teaser below the cut:
Remus turned his collar up against the wind as he stepped out of the station and onto Church Road. Arriving at Richmond Station always made him a bit disoriented, there were always too many people bustling around and he had to push his way through the crowd and towards the opposite entrance to where everyone else was going.
There was a vicious wind today, a damp sort of coldness in the air and heavy grey skies as if it could start raining any moment (which it probably could, this was London in October after all). It was early, too early, and Remus shivered as he set off at a brisk pace, clutching a once-hot cup of coffee in his hand. He fiddled around against the wind a little before he managed to light a cigarette, his nerves settling slightly at the first drag.
He walked the now-familiar route towards his destination, a nervous sort of flutter in his chest. He wondered how long those nerves were going to be there for, if he would ever just get used to this. It didn’t feel like he ever would.
Too soon he turned onto the right street, unable not to pull a face at the sight of the giant houses lining the streets as he flicked away his cigarette butt. He felt misplaced in his too-thin jacket and cheap clothes. Not that anything he wore was ever dirty or torn, but in this neighbourhood he was simply wrong .
Everything about him was wrong; the fact that his boots were worn down, his coat second-hand, the scarf around his neck hand-knitted, his hair too long and not in a stylish way but more a haven’t-been-to-the-barber-in-a-while way. His limp was wrong. At least it was a good day and he had chosen to leave his cane at home, despite the walk, just because he hated how awkward people got around him when he used it.
He made his way up the driveway to the correct house, his fingers brushing over the giant door knocker in the shape of a dog, which looked more like a wolf, before he used it to knock.
It took unusually long before the door swung open, and to Remus' surprise he found himself standing face to face with none other than Sirius Black. Usually, the other man kept out of the way in the mornings, but apparently not this time.
Sirius somehow didn’t seem out of place in this posh street, even though Remus thought he should with his long hair and tattoos and his motorbike. He didn’t though, Sirius Black looked as if he was born to live on a street like this, in a house like this, and Remus figured he probably was.
“We’re running a bit late,” he grouched, barely even acknowledging Remus with a look before he turned around to make his way further into the house. “You better come in.”
Remus hovered a little awkwardly in the doorway before he did as he was told, pulling the heavy door closed behind him as he followed Sirius inside.
If Remus felt out of place on the street outside, it was nothing compared to how he felt inside Sirius’ house. It was massive, ridiculously large considering it was only two people living there. Remus knew nothing about art or decorating but he had a feeling most of the stuff on the walls, and the furniture, were expensive.
Sirius led him through the initial hallway, further along into the large kitchen at the back of the house. Even though Remus disliked almost everything else about this house, he did love the kitchen. It was light and airy, modern, and the wall facing the back garden was almost completely made out of glass with doors that easily slid open during the summer.
Remus would love to cook in here one day, all the appliances were state of the art and the surfaces shiny and spacious. It was a far cry from his own tiny kitchen in his tiny flat. Remus had picked up cooking a couple of years ago, and he frequently dreamed about moving to something bigger, somewhere he could really test his wings.
“Here,” Sirius said, shoving a mug into Remus’ hands as soon as he entered the kitchen. “You better sit down and wait.”
Remus did as he was told, ignoring the way the palms of his hands burnt as he breathed across the hot liquid. Milk but no honey, Remus noted as he took a sip from the tea. He could feel Sirius watching him from where he was leaning casually against the kitchen counter, his arms folded across his chest, and it took Remus everything not to squirm underneath his gaze.
The silence was heavy around them, and Remus felt an urge to do something about it. To speak, even though he had no idea what he was supposed to say. He swallowed thickly, distracting himself by drinking the scalding liquid too quickly, and he was grateful as Sirius pushed off the counter with a sigh.
He strode back into the hallway, and Remus could hear him as he leaned against the banister of the staircase leading upstairs.
“Edward, don’t make me come up there! Remus is here, you need to go, or you’ll be late.”
“I’m coming ,” sounded an annoyed voice from upstairs. “I can’t find my bag.”
“It’s already down here,” Sirius replied and Remus thought he heard a little strain in his voice. “I’m counting to ten.”
Sirius returned to the kitchen, his eyes snagging on Remus for a moment but he didn’t say anything, and moments later there was the thundering noise of footsteps on the stairs before Teddy appeared in the doorway. He was dressed in his school uniform, smart white shirt and dark trousers together with his blazer and tie, both dark blue with light blue stripes.
The boy’s hair was the same sandy shade as Remus’ had been at that age, his chin and nose a little pointy, eyes a dark brown. Remus never quite got used to seeing hints of himself as a boy peeking through as he looked at Teddy. He stood quickly to distract himself.
“I’m here ,” Teddy said, a sullen look on his face. “Headmistress McGonagall said she’d give me detention if I was late for assembly one more time this week.”
“You better hurry up then if you’re going to have time for your breakfast,” Sirius replied, unphased, as he handed him his bag. “Remember, I’m picking you up and then we’re going to Harry’s tonight for dinner.”
Teddy accepted the bag with a sulk, “Whatever.”
“Attitude,” Sirius warned, a sharp eyebrow raised as he held onto the bag until the boy flicked his gaze up to Sirius’ face, and Remus could see something passing between them before Teddy’s shoulders slumped.
“Sorry,” he muttered, allowing Sirius to pull him into a hug, and Remus saw his arms sneaking around Sirius’ waist.
“That’s alright,” Sirius promised him, gently nudging him to stand straight, brushing an affectionate hand through his hair. “Love you, sprog.”
“Love you too,” Teddy muttered, and Remus felt something needle in his chest, something he didn’t have the words for as the boy turned around to look at him. “We need to hurry.”
“Right,” Remus said, a little awkwardly as he set down his mostly empty mug. “Let’s go then.”
Teddy disappeared into the hallway without another word and Remus cleared his throat, glancing down at the mug.
“Thanks,” he said, then added, “for the tea.”
“Sure,” Sirius said, following Remus as he went after Teddy. “You probably should hurry; McGonagall isn’t joking when she threatens with detention and Teddy really needs to get some food into him before school.”
Remus bristled at the tone, the same tone Sirius always used when he talked to Remus about Teddy. As if Remus couldn’t figure out that an eight-year-old needed to eat breakfast in the morning. Remus wanted to tell him that, wanted to give a scathing comment about exactly how he felt about Sirius’ superior attitude, but he swallowed what was on the tip of his tongue.
“Right,” he said instead as he adjusted the scarf around his neck. “Better be off then.”

Desperate Measures (Scamander Brothers X Muggle Reader)
Content Warnings: Themes of suicidal temptation, narcissistic abuse, C-PTSD, attempted abduction, PTSD, and betrayal. There’s also emotional distress, and a knife is present. Ableism and biphobia are mentioned.
Note 1: Some numbers and resources are noted at the bottom of this story post.
Note 2: If you like this story, please like, reblog, or comment on this story. Doing that really helps writers out. Plus, this was a really difficult story to write, and I worked extra hard on it, haha.
You slowly walked over to the knife holder on the kitchen counter, as if you were in a trance, and grabbed a knife. You stared at the knife in your hand.
Everything was too much. Your entire being was consumed with so much stress and pain. And it had been that way for too long. You couldn’t do this anymore.
There was no other way out.
But—you just remembered—your friends—Newt and Theseus—they would not be okay with this. Doing this would devastate them. They had always genuinely cared about you.
And you had worked too hard to die now. It was taking a while for you to get better and work towards building the life you wanted, but you were farther along than you were before.
But, you needed a way out. You needed this pain and stress to stop. You didn’t want to be stuck with the trauma anymore. And, you wanted to finally be safe. What could you do???
You felt trapped.
Tears started to fill your eyes. Your grip on the knife tightened and shook; then it relaxed. You moved the knife to the side. You stared at it for a few seconds. Then, you put your elbows on the counter, lowered your head into your hands, curled into yourself, and started to cry.
Soon after, footsteps came towards the kitchen, but your overwhelm prevented you from hearing them. The footsteps paused upon the scene, and there was a brief silence.
“(Y/N)?” you heard a voice call softly from behind you. Newt’s voice.
Your breath hitched, but you didn’t raise your head.
No. He had caught you.
You didn’t know what to do, what to say. You didn’t have the energy for this, so you just stayed as you were.
“(Y/N)? Are you alright?”
You still didn’t answer. Newt walked till he was standing to your right. He placed his hand on your shoulder, gazing at you with concern.
Then, he noticed the knife to the right side. When he realized what you were trying to do, he let out a small gasp. His green eyes turned to the knife holder in front of you.
He kept his hand on your shoulder and used his other hand to move the knife and then the knife holder farther to the right, away from you. He stared at them. Then, he looked back at you, scared.
“What’s going on?” he asked.
You tried to hold back sobs.
He was worried. He knew you had been going through a hard time, but he had never seen you like this. He thought about the knife he had just pushed away from you.
“Please show me your wrists.”
You didn’t move. You didn’t want him to see you cry, even if he was one of your closest friends. You didn’t feel comfortable crying in front of anyone. It was too late, in a way, though. You couldn’t hide the fact that you were crying, but that didn’t mean you had to show your face.
“I need to make sure you’re not injured,” Newt clarified.
You still didn’t speak. You didn’t trust your voice to sound normal.
“Okay,” he said cautiously, “I’m just going to pull your sleeves down and check.” You kept your head in your hands. Newt carefully pulled your sleeves down and tried to look for injuries, walking around you to continue checking your arms from other angles without pulling your arms away from your head. He didn’t find anything concerning.
“Alright. Your arms seem fine. Did you cut yourself somewhere else?”
You shook your head, no.
“Did you—stab yourself?”
You shook your head again. Then, you gave up on not speaking.
“Al—almost,” you said in a thick voice.
He was quiet for a few moments.
“Why—why would you do that?”
You didn’t answer at first. He waited for you.
“It’s all too much,” you finally said hoarsely.
“Alright. Can you—can you tell me more?” he asked, trying to stay calm.
Your head turned towards him, a desperate look in your eyes. He saw the tear streaks and pained expression on your face. Newt’s heart broke.
“I believe you,” he said. “I know you’ve been going through a hard time. I do. Just, just talk to me. Take your time, it’s alright. Just tell me whatever you can. In case there are things going on that I’m not aware of. I’ll—I’ll do my best to help you.”
Just then, Theseus, who had come over earlier that day to spend time with you and Newt, walked into the room while adjusting his gray suit. He stopped when he noticed the sight in front of him. “What—what’s going on?” Theseus asked, concerned. You and Newt looked at each other, unsure of what to say. You snapped your eyes shut and lowered your head while pursing your lips together. Newt worriedly placed his hand on your shoulder. He then glanced downwards before turning his head towards his brother.
“She—she almost killed herself,” Newt answered.
Theseus just stood there as the realization of what Newt said hit him.
“What?” Theseus asked, shocked.
Newt let out a breath before speaking.
“She tried to—she was going to—she almost—she almost stabbed herself.”
Theseus stood still for a few moments before making his way over to you both. His ocean blue eyes gazed at the knife that was away from you and Newt. Then, he turned back towards you and caressed your arm.
“Please talk to us,” Theseus said quietly.
“We’re here for you,” Newt added tenderly.
You were overwhelmed, making it hard for you to speak, but they waited patiently for you.
“These memories,” you started, your voice hoarse. “These thoughts. These feelings. They don’t go away for good. And they can get so…intense.”
“What are you remembering?” Theseus asked gently but worriedly.
“The abuse.”
Your friends looked at you, sadly.
“It was really bad,” you whispered.
“I believe you,” Newt reassured you.
“So do I,” Theseus agreed.
Your mouth curled into a hint of a smile, a pained but grateful look in your eyes. You tilted your head towards them in a slight nod, which they returned.
You were silent for a few moments. Then you continued, “They were ableist, too. And biphobic. Even though I was their daughter and a part of those minority groups. Didn’t matter. I was their daughter, and they didn’t care…they didn’t care.”
Both of the Scamander brothers’ faces fell at your words.
“They treated me so…” you trailed off and sighed hopelessly.
Your friends gazed downwards morosely. The three of you went silent.
Then, you asked, “Do you remember what they and the others did to me after I escaped?”
“Yes. I remember,” Theseus said solemnly as Newt nodded. You looked at Theseus, a tortured expression on your face.
“They terrorized me,” you nearly whispered. “But they did it subtly and manipulatively, under the guise of caring. If anyone read or listened to the messages, or listened to those monsters try to justify their actions, without being very familiar with how manipulation works and the different ways it can be done, they’d fall for the manipulation and not believe me.”
“I’m sorry,” Theseus said sadly. He was quiet for a few moments. “But it’s good that you don’t have contact with them now. You’re safe now.”
“For how long?” you asked hopelessly. “They haven’t stayed away for good.
“They kept trying to contact me. And they and the others who decided to get involved kept trying to get me to reveal my location, as well as trick me into letting them abduct me. And…” you trailed off as the tears fell down your face.
Theseus went up to you and engulfed you in his arms. Your arms wrapped around him tightly. He held you and rocked you side to side as you cried in his arms.
You, like Newt, weren’t typically a hugger. But, Theseus’s hugs were different: They actually felt comfortable to you. Newt watched the two of you sadly. Then, he took his wand, turned towards the knife and knife holder, and vanished them. He stared at the space the weapons had been in, breathing heavily.
He had almost lost you.
“You’re safe now,” Theseus said to you soothingly. “You’re safe now.”
Newt turned back towards his friend and older brother. Newt placed his hand on your shaking shoulder. After a few seconds, he began to rub your shoulder.
“They can’t do this to you anymore,” Newt murmured. “They’re not here. You’re away from them, and you don’t have contact with them. You’re safe now.”
They went quiet and comforted you as you cried.
“Why don’t we take her to the couch,” Newt quietly suggested after a little bit, motioning towards the yellow couch in the living room with his head.
Theseus nodded.
The three of you made your way over to the couch, Theseus keeping his arm around you the entire way there. You sat in the middle of the couch, Newt sat to your right, and Theseus sat to your left. They rubbed your arms, trying to console you. Neither of you said a word. After a bit, you finally spoke.
“Sometimes I have to remind myself where I am. That I’m not there anymore. That I’m away.”
“Yes, that’s right. You’re not there anymore,” Newt said. “They don’t know where you are. They and the others who got involved can’t try to take you back again.”
“They already tried multiple times,” you said despondently.
“I know. I know, and I’m so sorry.” Newt was silent for a few moments.
“They did that and they did so much to try to get me to reveal where I am.”
“We’re not going to let them take you or do anything to you,” Theseus stated. “And you’ll do a good job of protecting yourself, too. You already have.”
“Yeah,” Newt reassured you. “You made very smart decisions to keep yourself hidden, and you have been continuing to make smart decisions.”
“Exactly,” Theseus agreed.
You took a deep breath and nodded.
They were quiet for some time.
“I knew that me escaping and cutting them off would lead to me getting betrayed and losing people, but it’s still hard,” you muttered. “Why do I mean so little to all of them?”
Theseus placed his hand on your arm.
“Because they’re not meant to be in your life,” he replied.
“He’s right,” Newt agreed. “But—we believe you. We care.”
“Yes,” Theseus affirmed. “We do. We know you’ve suffered. We know you deserved better.”
“And we know they’re very manipulative,” Newt said. “We read and listened to the messages you showed us they sent you. Something is seriously wrong with them.”
You shook your head up and down, so thankful your friends saw your abusers for what your abusers were.
“They’re narcissistic abusers,” you said. “They won’t change no matter what they say. If they wanted to change, they would have tried a long time ago. My suffering because of them would have been enough to get them to change. But it wasn’t. They only tried to ‘change’ after I left, when they got affected. When they lost control of me, and when me escaping put their reputation at risk. None of their words and actions are genuine. They don’t care about me.”
“I’m sorry,” Newt whispered.
“We do though,” Theseus replied. “Care, I mean. We care.”
“We’re your friends,” Newt said gingerly. “We love you.”
“You’re not alone.”
You smiled at them.
“And you have a…therapist, as you muggles call them,” Theseus added. “She can help you. Is it working out with her?”
“Yes. I like her. There’s just…so much.”
Theseus nodded sympathetically.
“(Y/N),” Newt suddenly said. You looked at him.
“You were going to kill yourself, but you stopped. What got you to stop?”
You were quiet at first.
“I’ve worked too hard to give up now,” you finally said.
Newt and Theseus gave you small smiles and nodded. You gave them a small smile back.
“But, I also remembered both of you,” you replied awkwardly, motioning to Theseus and him. “This would hurt you, both. I couldn’t do that to you. Both of you genuinely care about me. You always have.”
Your friends looked at you morosely. Then, they both leaned in and laid their heads against yours. You closed your eyes. The three of you sat like that for some time in silence.
“Why don’t we take you to get some help,” Theseus suggested quietly, his head still against yours. Then, he sat up and looked at you; Newt did the same.
You looked away, a slightly anxious expression on your face.
You had never checked yourself in for a mental health emergency before. The idea of it made you feel nervous, but, you supposed, not as nervous as you thought you’d be if you had to do this without your friends’ support.
And, this really was an emergency though, wasn’t it? You had almost killed yourself.
You felt someone take your hand. You looked to see who it was.
Newt.
“You’re worth it,” he said. At those words, your eyes held their gaze towards him. “You’re worth it.”
You smiled gratefully at him. Then, you took a few deep breaths before you looked at Theseus and nodded.
“Okay,” you said, accepting the offer of help.

Hi!
Just wanted to recommend “a house, a home” by satinsonnets. The amount of flirty fluff mixed with single dad historical Draco has me rereading this fic over and over.
Hope it was okay I used the ask function for the rec!
Thanks!
a house, a home by satinsonnets - M, one-shot - "I believe in opportunity, Miss Granger, and I'd like to give you one. Should you be a good match for my son, you will be well provided for, and you will be allowed to continue on with your studies and pursuit of a university education." He leans forward, gently wiping a residual tear drying on her cheek, before plucking a rogue daffodil from the ground, an odd sight to behold in autumn. "Think about it, Miss Granger. I'll send a carriage in two days time to the Three Broomsticks. If you're interested, please be timely." She doesn't have to think very hard on his offer, and finds herself with her meager belongings packed into two small suitcases waiting on the steps of the tavern two nights later, hope in her heart and freedom on her mind.
PS: Yes sending this using the ask option is fine.

I like to imagine how Sirius would do in university when he never in his life had to actually study before and also that untreated adhd + mental illness is starting to take a toll on him. I mean he would ofc be very smart and brilliant but also. University burnout is real. (not projecting here what so ever)
batsy this is SO real like until year 2 of uni i was always like what is studying?? just read the chapter you’ll be fine. yeah you can start the essay less than a day before the deadline no problem!!!
✨but then✨
and sirius is totally the kinda guy to keep up with that even though it’s not working. it’s a mindset that’s really hard to get rid of. he’s burning himself out even more by doing everything last minute and putting so much pressure on himself—if he’d spread it out over several weeks, life would be way less stressful. but no! he’s doing everything last minute!! and he’s still so smart and bright and it really shows in seminars, but he’s also quietly sobbing as he attempts to fill up an empty word doc with sensible arguments because the deadline’s coming closer and closer by the minute and he isn’t done yet. either he’ll somehow manage to graduate or he’ll crash and burn and feel utterly useless for about 2 years.

Multiplying Parents by @heartofspells (23.333 words) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Relationships: Sirius Black/Remus Lupin
modern AU, muggle AU, raising Harry AU
Summary: "This isn't a date," he bites out, mostly due to confusion without any true ire. He turns to Remus, his face set into deep lines. "I don't have dinner." Remus takes a step backwards, and Sirius only then seems to realize the tone of his voice. "Shit. Sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean – " "No, I'm sorry," breaks in Remus, shaking his head, taking another step back, moving away from the door. "I should have known. Harry said – " "Harry," groans Sirius, his head tipping backwards over his shoulders, eyes rolling to the ceiling. Andromeda turns, hiding a snicker. She catches sight of Harry peeking through the door and passes him a delightful grin.
Or: Harry has a happy life with Sirius, but his dad is lonely. Harry decides to find him a boyfriend.
Comment: This was such a cute fic, I loved reading this wonderful raising Harry AU, and I don't think I've ever read a wolfstar fic from Harry's POV before but it was very cute and hilarious and fluffy, highly recommend!!

I am IN LOVE with your drarry + Scorpius adventures. The cutest I've ever seen, honestly.
Do you have a backstory of how they started dating or how Draco decided to introduce Harry to Scorpius? Also, Is Astoria Scorpiu's mother or who is it? Have a nice day!
Hiya!!
Thank you! I'm glad you like my silly scorp adventures ahaha, I don't have an official backstory but just a vague sort of idea, I like changing it up from time to time!
I'd like to think the introduction happened from my first comic with infant baby Scorp at the farmer's market! And then Harry's curiosity + seeing them around more in his neighbourhood would create a tentative friendship. After a while Harry would help Draco out from time to time as being a single parent with a baby like Scorp (tbh in general) can get difficult.
I think they'd start dating later when Scorp is in his toddler stages! Some of my newer comics right now are when I imagine they're together. (except the ice cream one). Draco fell first (but didn't do anything because priority is scorp) and Harry catches up eventually.
In terms of mother, I switch it up from Astoria to Draco himself having Scorp.
Have a nice day anon!

The lion, brave and might,
What is it that he sees,
When walking in the candle light,
Under the beautiful Christmas trees?
I am... sorry, what?
*Meech has to read the poem twice, thrown aback by the format. Somebody spent time writing poetry? For him? About... Christmas presents?*
We all know that it's the family members and sometimes friends that lay gifts under a Christmas tree. Uh, not lay, why did I say lay, you're not ducks or chickens...
*He groans and frowns.*
You get the idea. I don't have many friends and my family is rather small. Perhaps my parent will come visit but the kind of jobs they have are especially difficult this time of year. So if there's anything I'd wish to see under a tree this year, it'll be something practical. New robes, socks, sweater, shirt... Writing supplies, I am so short on parchment and ink... Listen. I don't even have a wand of my own, this one was just given to me by... er, my great aunt.
I don't have much. But I also do not need much. Do not worry about it.

Marauders at the airport Part 1.
James and Lily stood in the hallway of the flat. Several suitcases were by the door along with stray pairs of sunglasses and mismatched flip-flops.
"I'll go do Mary, Marls, Dorcas and Peter." she said. James nodded solemnly, understanding his role.
"Be safe. Good luck. I love you." Lily leant up and kissed him then proceeded to go up the stairs, giving him one last look. He prepared for battle, pulling a pot over his head and grabbing the traffic cone that had appeared after a night out, with no clues to how it had got there. The time on the coffee machine read 4 AM. He approached the door and turned the door knob. Remus and Sirius lay there (thankfully fully clothed) but fast asleep. He walked to the bed and shook the mousy haired boy awake.
"Remus get up. It's time to go." he said in a whisper.
"Huh, James?"
"We have to go to the airport."
"Ok, ok. Why are you wearing a pot?" James gulped and looked over to where Sirius was sprawled out on the bed, limbs askew. Remus looked at him in understanding. "Do you need help?" he asked.
"It's fine. Now get ready or Evans will kill you." Remus collected his clothes and left the room.
"Sirius, Sirius mate, it's time to get up." James said.
"Not time for school yet." The black haired boy mumbled.
"No, it's time to go to the airport." Sirius opened his eyes and glanced at his bedside table for the clock.
"It's 4 o'clock in the morning, Potter. 4 AM. LEAVE ME ALONE." He grabbed his pillow and threw it at James, who ducked.
"GET OUT." James ran to the door, eager to escape the attack.
Upstairs Lily was banging pots and pans together, shouting "WAKE UP. TIME TO GO." She could hear them waking up from their respective room. She opened the door to where Mary was doing her makeup. "MARY MACDONALD STEP AWAY FROM THE MAKEUP NOW! PACK YOUR CARRY ON." Mary attempted to curl her eyelashes but the curler was taken away by Lily.
"Lils please can I have it back?" she asked, sleepy dust still in her eyes.
"Later. Now I have to get Marls." She left and walked across the hallway. Dorcas was in the loo and Marlene was still in bed, feigning sleep.
"Marlene Michelle McKinnon get your arse out of bed or woe betide you." she said in a gentle voice that could strike fear in the hearts of anyone. When she was given no response, Lily poked her in the sides repeatedly. Marlene's eyes opened and she held out hand so that Lily could drag her out, which is what she did. Now Pete.
She entered his room and and shook him awake. "Peter its time to get up." He mumbled something and sat up.
"Morning Lil." he yawned.
"Morning now go to the loo and pack your toothbrush. We'll get breakfast on the way." He checked his phone and got up.
Downstairs James was standing outside the door, holding a pillow. He charged in and began to hit Sirius with it. Sometimes violence was the answer.
"Bugger off James." he said.
"No luck or Evans will have my guts for garters. Come on. Or we'll miss our flight."
"Fine, but I call shotgun" he said.
To be continued...

we're not bothered by the way wizards talk about muggles in harry potter because while we're reading we forget they're talking about us. because we're in harry's head and living the story through him we think we're special, that if we were living in his world we wouldn't be muggles and it changes our perspective immensely
i wonder if there's anyone who's been uncomfortable from the get-go about it, who read the first book, with hagrid and the weasleys' dismissive comments (not the obvious villains, the good guys. it's important for this discussion) and got this "they're talking about me" feeling. how different would your experience of the books be if you kept reading with the knowledge that the main characters at most see you as background noise or interesting aliens, a nice pet, an abstract concept? so weird to think about
