#12: Kiss Of Life (S7E05)

Ooh it’s called the Kiss of Life for a reason. 🤩 No one does passion like Richonne. ❤️‍🔥 This marvelous scene seriously has a hold on me and features my absolute favorite Richonne kiss (thus far 😏). The moment is just so good and mesmerizes me like no other. It's legitimately hypnotic. And that’s why, even tho Rick and Michonne barely speak in this scene, it absolutely makes my top 12. And you know the kiss is good when you have multiple favorite parts of it lol...

First, it’s important to note that it’s not just the kiss that makes me adore and appreciate this scene but how extremely meaningful this exchange is based on where Rick and Michonne are at during this part of the story.

This was one of the hardest and most depressing seasons for them as they wrestled with losing people they loved and then being expected to be Negan’s servants indefinitely. 

And during this Negan era, it’s one of the rare times when Rick and Michonne are on notably different pages about how to approach the situation. And while Michonne told Rick she’d try to accept this way of "life," it’s clearly eating away at her to just sit and let Negan torment her family.

It’s eating away at Rick too, but with the love he has for tf, and especially for Michonne and his children, at this stage in the show he really feels like he’d rather suffer like this with them than fight and lose them.

This was such a tough time for them, and yet Rick and Michonne's love so heartily prevails with this special kiss. It's the definition of true love's kiss, if you ask me. 🤩

So first, I always feel for Rick at the top of 7.05 when he’s talking to Carl, who is understandably frustrated and behaving coldly to his dad. All Rick wants is for his family to be okay, and they’re so clearly not okay right now, which you know weighs on him.

And I’m not the only one who feels for him because Michonne is of course also in the room for this Grimes family moment, and she seems to be really empathizing with Rick as well. 

So then Rick and Aaron walk out of the room, and Michonne follows and, again, shoutout Aaron for leaving to give Rick and Michonne a private moment lol. Cuz the moment was perfection. 😍 Like for real tens across the board...

Rick and Michonne stand in front of each other, and Rick invites her to join them if she changes her mind. I love that he always wants her with him.

I remember even watching live, I could tell that Michonne wanted to go with him too, cuz magnets don’t part. But she’s of the mindset that she has to try and go out on her own to fight this for the both of them if he’s not ready to fight back yet.

Michonne quietly and compassionately says, "good luck" and even tho Rick is clearly sad and knows this could be a moment of distancing, he still wants to close the gap and at least hug her goodbye, which I appreciate. 🥰

So he goes in for this hug, and whenever I think back to when I first watched this scene live, I just smile because I remember how excited I was that Rick was simply going to hug Michonne and maybe kiss her on the cheek or whatever it looked like he was about to do. But little did I know we were in for something...

Because as he goes in for this cute husband-off-to-work hug, Michonne stops him by gently placing her hand on his face. And I will forever love the choreography of this whole moment.

I love that it’s this moment of Michonne redirecting to let Rick know she wants to send him off right and make it crystal clear to him that even tho they’re going different ways right now, she is not upset with him, disappointed in him, or pulling away from him.

So she warmly takes his face, and then there's this subtle moment where Rick does that signature Rick Grimes head tilt in her hands as he tries to assess what this moment is about.

You can see a heartbreaking split second of Rick seemingly wondering if this is her literally and figuratively pushing him away. And what most pains me is knowing Rick thinks he deserves whatever disappointment or distance Michonne might potentially feel toward him. 😭

His past relationship saw his former wife push him away during a very vulnerable time after he had to kill his best friend for trying to kill him, so it's like he's briefly expecting something like that again.

But one thing that wonderful woman Michonne is always going to do is let Rick know, this is different. 🙌🏽

It's the very thing Rick told Carl the literal morning after he and Michonne first got together - where homeboy didn't even want to wait a few hours before reassuring his son that he and Michonne are gonna be long-term. (which I always am just fully amused by that whole 6.11 scene btw. from rick lowkey forgetting he's talking to his son by emphasizing, "it just happened," carl's reaction to seeing his dad in a tizzy, and judith's 'office' look in the camera. gold 😂. michonne's fam is the cutest, y'all)

And "this is different" has remained an accurate way to describe the elevated love Richonne has with each other.

Because see, now Rick isn't with a love in his life, he's with the love of his life. He's with the one (& only 👑). This is his unequivocal soulmate who will be by his side through any and everything. And I love that Michonne always manages to show Rick that he's met his match in a way he's never experienced before.

So thankfully Rick doesn’t have to ponder what this moment is about for long because Michonne quells any and all of those fears when she proceeds to kiss him with passion in an abundance. It’s utterly perfect. 😍😍😍

No words needed, and she still manages to say everything. I still love you. I still crave you. And I’m still with you was expressed loud and clear. 👏🏽

And Michonne really is such a commendable queen for doing this and making sure no wedge was created between her and her husband. This kiss really made any distance they had prior disappear, and it so beautifully let Rick know he is still cherished and appreciated by his wife.

He needed this moment more than he could probably even express. But of course, without even having to say it, Michonne knew this was needed because she always knows her man. 😊

This moment also feels like something she's been wanting to do since that fateful and scary night in the line-up where there were several times she could've lost him.

Like you know the fact that Rick is still with her and they're still alive, is something she's grateful for and doesn't take for granted. So she needed this moment too. And this kiss lets everyone know that while Negan may have nearly broken their spirits, he can never break their love.

The level of passion in this kiss is great for many reasons, but especially because you know after the lineup Rick and Michonne are now both so much more aware of how quickly things can go fatally wrong and how whenever you leave home and part ways you really could not make it back home to each other. It makes me think about how Glenn left ASZ just to quickly retrieve Daryl, but then he never returned to their home again. 😢

So as Rick prepares to go off on this run with Aaron, he and Michonne really kiss like it could be their last because that's an unfortunate possibility. (even though not too much of a possibility since they're the ones who live, amen. 😌)

And then my absolute favorite part of this kiss is when Rick so clearly gets fully immersed in this moment with Michonne and pulls her closer to him. I freaking LOVE that little gesture of him pulling her into him. 😍 It felt like it was Rick's turn to also let Michonne know - I still love you. I still crave you. I’m still with you.

Rick and Michonne just fit so perfectly together and I love the way they can always get lost in each other. Truly, in that moment for them, it felt like they were the only two in the world and all the other stuff didn’t matter. Their ability to be so present with each other is so special. 🥹

And she was already so close to him but the fact that he pulled her even closer...Magnets. And then whoever pointed out that Michonne kisses his top and bottom lip is a real one because I never noticed it before, but now it’s my other favorite part of this moment. 😋

They were really wild for this whole kiss, y'all. It feels great to be so spoiled. And we're Blessed with a capital B that this ship is literally everything we could dream of. 😌

This kiss is of course steamy and heavenly, but also it is just so powerful. For Rick and Michonne to be going through what they’re going through and feeling so differently about their current circumstances, it is so powerful that they close the gap rather than widen it. That they express authentic love for each other more than opposition.

This moment solidified that Richonne has what it takes to rise above anything and that even when they have entirely different opinions on a subject as big and serious as how to approach fighting for their lives and their people, they will still always be with each other. Wholly, Deeply, & Forever.

Again, I so appreciate that Richonne always chooses each other. And also this kiss was only our second time seeing them kiss like this since their canon ep, and man did they deliver. Like...

I’ve always felt that something so special about Richonne is that they are not like some TV couples who are more interesting in their pre-canon "Will They/Won't They" phase, and then when they finally do get together it doesn’t quite live up to all the steamy passion of their build-up.

With Rick and Michonne it’s a whole different story cuz moments like this kiss let us know that all that steamy passion and build-up was not only matched but topped when they were finally able to express the love they felt romantically. 

Also, when they lost Carl the following season, it was this kiss of life in s7 that I’d think about because I believe this is an illustration of what Michonne and Rick ultimately land on even amidst the toughest adversity. They land on love, which has proven true time and time again.

And as always their moments after the kiss are also profoundly passionate as they look into each other's eyes and then do their signature thing of leaning their heads against each other, truly almost as if finding their center with each other.

I love that they stay in this moment awhile, again with no words necessary to communicate how much they love and are with each other. 

They are the epitome of soulmates, and the way their love shined through in this quiet moment made that clear.

And then I love that Rick can’t help but express gratitude to Michonne for giving him his entire life with that kiss, so he fittingly says what he always finds a way to say to her, "thank you." The absolute cutest. 😊 You know Rick ain't been kissed like that ever before lol. Michonne has that man forever entranced, and I love to see it.

And the thing is, Rick has a special effect on Michonne too, cuz you can clearly see it in the way she looks at him as well.

In one kiss Michonne and Rick were able to breathe life into each other and quiet all the worry of them being on the rocks. They might still have big differences at this point, but nothing will ever be strong enough to divide them.

(that's why when I hear lines like say, "we are the strongest military on the planet" or "we're the last light of the world," or whatever, my only thought is - and yet you're still no match for Richonne. 💅🏽 Rick and Michonne Grimes prove they're the ones who live and the ones whose love is unstoppable every time. 👌🏽)

So it was a big deal for Richonne to have this moment in 7A. I appreciate that Michonne knew her man needed to be lifted up and reminded just who he is to her, and she did just that like only she can. And as the kiss went on, Rick let her know he felt just as strongly about her.

This important kiss shows that Rick and Michonne’s love is unbreakable, and I treasure this scene as such an undeniably powerful moment between them. I love their love, and I will adore this Kiss of Life for life. 😌

Saturday came around, and he had fallen asleep and accidentally stayed the night. He was freaking out, worrying that his Housewarden was going to be angry, but you showed him a text from the Vice Housewarden, that said he was given permission to stay over at Ramshackle for the weekend he had off.

That being said, you told him that you were going back into the snow today, and he let out a groan of annoyance. You should know by now that he preferred humid and warm climates, which is why he loved the Botanical Gardens.

But, this was your payback, as he had spent weeks ignoring you and choosing his schoolwork as well as the Prince over you. That last sentiment was understandable, as that was the code of a knight, but the former statement really hurt. It was like he would prioritize anything over you, and while you first excused it as him adjusting to being romantically involved with someone, it got to a point where you were done.

Anyway, you opened the front door, and a rush of cool air burst into the corridor. You heard Sebek shiver, despite being wrapped in many different layers. Grim was also shivering, but he had claimed that he only needed his scarf and gloves to keep warm. You called his bluff, but he stuck to his guns.

When Sebek had finally joined you outside, you immediately shouted, “LET’S BUILD A SNOWMAN!”

You managed to spook him with the sudden outburst, but he immediately started making a plan. He was going to make the base, as he would be able to roll it to the designated spot you made. You would get its midsection, and he would help you lift it up. Then, Grim would make the head out of snow.

And so you all split up. You had to head inside to grab a spare scarf as well as a carrot and buttons, and then you placed them on the ground at said spot. Then you started getting the snowball for the torso.

It didn’t take too long for Sebek to finish, nor did it take long for Grim, but the difference was that Grim found himself rolling as a snowball with the snowball. He was rolling down the hill, and he suddenly hit a rock hidden in the snow, and he was launched into the air. It’s not like he could aim away from you, so he ended up landing on top of you.

With a loud oomph, you landed on the ground, and your boyfriend rushed over to make sure that you were okay. It turns out that you were laughing as you, through giggles, asked if the cat monster was okay. The crocodile half-fae helped you up, checking over you to make sure that you didn’t sustain any serious injuries, and you just continued to make the torso of the snowman.

Eventually, you and Grim rolled your parts to Sebek’s part, and he helped you lift each part. Grim was insistent on lifting his own, so the knight lifted the cat who, in turn, placed the head on top of the snowman.

Now it was time to decorate it, and you grabbed the scarf and wrapped it around the snowman’s neck. Sebek shoved the carrot in the middle of the head, making it its nose. Grim helped with the buttons, and you smiled at the masterpiece. You turned to see your lover, and the tip of his nose as well as the apples of his cheeks were pink.

Maybe it was time to head inside.

You immediately started making some hot chocolate. You didn’t realize how cold you actually were because of how much fun you were having, but you couldn’t feel your fingers or toes. It felt like a Herculean effort to just blink. The aroma of the sweet ingredients wafted through the air, making the dorm smell amazing.

“I’m sorry…” That was a first. You turned to see the man who you’ve called your ‘knight in shining armor’, looking ashamed and guilty.

“For what, Seb?”

“For neglecting you, and that is the best way to say it so don’t say differently. You had to go to Waka-sama and Lilia-sama for Seven’s sakes because I was prioritizing my work over you,” He was getting a bit worked up, angry about his own failure.

A moment passed of him being close to tears, and you had to hold in your laughter. But, you can’t really be blamed. For the longest time, the First Year who was now on his knees, begging for a way to get you to forgive him, had called you a ‘human’ in such a disgusted tone. Maybe the significant other effect is real?

The hot cocoa was finished, and you poured it into two mugs from the pot you made it in. Your smile dropped, a sombre expression appearing on your face in its place.

“Do you have time to have a cup of hot chocolate with me?” You asked, voice very close to breaking. You had to use both hands to steady the mug as you extended it towards him, and his eyes were surprisingly glassy.

“More than enough,” He responded, taking a sip of the sweet drink.

Most of Bonten enjoyed having the Omega back to how he was. One member wasn't though, and he made it clear daily. It was honestly getting on everyone's nerves. Especially since it was staring to get physical.

(Name) groaned loudly. Catching a few members attention, causing them to turn towards the male. (Name) threw away another "gift" from the pinkette. He'd been trying to court (Name) again, and was failing miserably. Which was great entertainment to the other upper members.

Especially a certain silver haired Bonten Treasurer. He was enjoying the torture that Bonten's 2nd was enduring. Since he knew it was Karma, from how he treated (Name). Although, the other others though Kokonoi was enjoying it a bit too much.

(Name) sat at his desk, opening his computer and getting straight to work. While he was working someone approached his desk. (Name) didn't look away from the computer, already knowing who it was. "I see you threw another out. (Name) what is it gonna take for you to come back?

(Name) slowly turned, glaring at the Alpha. "I'm not going back to that Toxic bullshit, you called love! Now please leave so I can do my job." He turned back to the computer, ignoring the gaping male. While the other Executives behind him laughed. They've been waiting for the Omega to snap.

Kokonoi walked to (Name)'s desk. Ignoring the glare being thrown at him, by the seething Alpha. He placed a coffee cup beside the Omega. (Name) confused picked it up and took a small whiff. Before perking up and smiling brightly at Kokonoi.

"Haji! How did you know I wanted a (coffee)?" Kokonoi smirked at Sanzu and shrugged. "You spoke about wanting some last night." (Name) made an 'oh' sound before taking a small sip of the coffee. "Well thank you Haji. Oh! Here is the paperwork you asked for." He spoke turning and opening his filing cabinet.

While he was gathering aid paperwork. The two Alpha's were having a staring match. Sanzu glared hatefully, while Kokonoi gave his signature smirk. When (Name) turned around handing him the paperwork, Kokonoi gave soft smile to the Omega. "Thank you very much (N/Name). Keep up the good work!"

(Name) smiled and nodded, turning back and started typing away on his computer. Kokonoi gave Sanzu another smirk and winked, walking away to his office. Sanzu growled glaring after him, then turned to (Name). "You already koved on?!" (Name) ignored him. Trying to finish filing the work Mikey had asked him to.

"Oi! I'm talking to you!" Sanzu slammed his hands on the desk. Startling the Omega, who quickly caught tipping coffee. (Name) sighed and took another drink, before turning to the huffing Alpha. "What?" Sanzu growled putting more pressure on the desk. "I asked if you already moved on."

(Name) huffed rolling his eyes and crossing his arms. "First of all, it's none of your business. Second of all, I've gotten over my feelings for you, but I haven't started dating." Sanzu frowned. A growl emerging from within his chest. He punched a hole into the desk, and threw everything from the desk into the floor.

Startling everyone. "Oi! Sanzu!" Rindou quickly makes his way over, grabbing the Alpha. "The fuck do you think you're doing?!" (Name) quickly got up, walking past the other members, who were asking him if he was okay. They watched him stomp into Mikey's office, and they all froze.

They all stared at the closed door, waiting for something to happen. When the door opened a blank faced Mikey made his way out. He walked over to Kokonoi's office, knocking on the door before walking in. A few seconds later, Kokonoi raced out of his office and into Mikey's. Then Mikey emerged again, making his way to the frozen executives.

Once in front of them, he looked at the desk and the mess. Before turning to a rapidly paling Sanzu. "Did you do this?" He didn't make a sound. Mikey turned to the other members. "Did he do this?" Mochi silently nodded while Kakucho replied with a small yes. Mikey nodded and turned to face the others.

"Anyone wanna explain, why (Name) is having a panic attack in my office? Or how my secretary's desk is broken, and his computer and personal items are on the floor?" Ran stepped forward slowly. "Sanzu got upset when (Name) had confessed, that he doesn't have feelings for him anymore. He punched his desk and threw everything off his desk."

Mikey looked at the other members who nodded. He turned punching the Alpha right in the face, then turned to the stunned members. "Someone call Takeomi and inform him Sanzu has been suspended from his job until further notice. I want him out of my sight and out of this building. Now, and someone have the maids clean this up. I'll have Kokonoi and (Name) go and get him a new desk and computer."

Everyone stayed still. "Now!" Mikey practically growled. Making everyone move, doing as was told. Kakucho and Mochi dragging a struggling, and angry Sanzu to the elevators. Mikey turned to the brothers. "One of you call Takeomi to take him home. I'm going back to work now. Someone also get me some Dorayuki."

The brothers nodded. Ran calling Takeomi, and Rindou calling a bakery for an order of said snacks. Mikey sighed and ran a hand down his face, making his way back into his office. Seeing a sleeping (Name), and a frowning Kokonoi. "He's gonna need a new desk and computer." Mikey groaned, running a hand through his hair.

"I had him working on setting up our next meeting. Guess that will need to be rescheduled." Kokonoi didn't say anything, just nodding. Mikey's looked at (Name). "Take him to a safe house. We don't want anymore issues right now. We don't need another problem right now."

Kokonoi nodded, standing and carefully picking up (Name). "Sir, if I may? Sanzu has access to every safe house. Can I take him to my place?" Mikey thought for a moment before nodding. "Take care of him Kokonoi. He's Bonten's secretary. We need him."

You walked through the door of the café, the air cool against your cheeks as the spring weather wrapped around you and entered the establishment alongside you. The café was one you used to frequent since leaving your hometown nearly 2 years ago for a man you were so deeply in love with.

That man was none other than Mason Mount. You'd dated Mason for over 3 years, with you choosing to move to London to be closer to him after your 2 year anniversary. After about a year, your relationship was not in a good place, and you ultimately decided to end things.

You had felt like he wasn't as in love with you anymore. He'd been so distant with you and didn't make much effort to spend time with you. You thought moving closer would make your relationship stronger, but it only seemed to make things worse.

Now, nearly 7 months after your breakup with Mason, you were back at that same café you both had been to frequently after you moved to the city, except this time you were alone. It was your first time visiting the café since your split, as it reminded you too much of him.

After ordering your usual, you head to your old booth and decide to scroll through Instagram for a few minutes.

“Oat Milk Latte for Mason!” The barista calls out. You look up from your phone, looking around as there’s no chance it’s him. But it is. He makes his way up to the counter and collects his drink & muffin before walking to find a seat. As he makes his way across the café in an attempt to find a seat, his eyes meet yours, causing him to stop in his tracks.

After a moment, he slowly makes his way to the old booth.

“Can I sit here?” He asks, as the rest of the seats were filled. You nodded, allowing him to set his belongings on the table as he seated himself across from you.

“Hi” He spoke, breaking the silence between the pair of you.

“Hi, how’re you?” There wasn’t any bad blood between you both. He’d just fallen out of love.

“I’ve been good. You?” His reply had some tension in it, something you were unable to put your finger on.

"I've been fine" You replied before getting up to get your drink. When you returned to the booth, you both spoke for a bit longer, catching up on everything that's happened within the past few months.

Just being in his presence made you ache in a way that not even the breakup had previously. He sported the same sweet disposition he always had and he wore it well, it was always the thing that made him the most attractive to you.

"Well, this was really nice, maybe we should do this on purpose sometime" Mason suggested as he looked at you. You smiled lightly, liking the idea of seeing him again. It could help mend some of the wound that was still there when you broke up.

"I'd really like that" You replied. Mason returned the smile before saying his goodbyes and leaving the café.

As you exited the cafe, you noticed you had a text from an unknown number.

Unknown: Hey, It's Mase. Are you available tonight? Maybe we could actually catch up and hang out?

You: Yeah, I'm available. Just pass by my apartment. It's the same one as before :)

- hours later -

Mason passed by your apartment and drove you over to the restaurant he'd arranged for you both to eat at. You didn't have a car, and the restaurant was quite far, so it would simply be easier for him to drive you.

As you entered, you realized that it was the same restaurant he took you to on your first date.

"Isn't this a bit nostalgic?" You asked, deja vu hitting you like a train as you remembered your first ever date with him years before.

"Maybe, but we won't sit at our same old table, I promise" He smiled as the hostess guided the pair of you to a secluded section of the restaurant. He pulled your chair out for you before sitting across from you.

He grabbed the menu and started reading. You looked at him for a moment, noticing how different he was now compared to the man you once dated. He seemed happier now, somehow more comfortable in his own skin and less stressed out. A part of you wanted to reach out and pull him into your arms, but you knew you couldn't. He wasn't yours anymore.

His brown eyes glanced up briefly as he read the menu, catching your eye for a brief moment before you looked down at the menu. A light chuckle came from him, causing you to look up at him.

"What?" He simply shook his head at your question, leading you to roll your eyes jokingly and look over the menu once more. You then decided to try and change the topic.

"So what are you having?"

"This girl once recommended the Penne alla Puttanesca. Thought I'd give it a try" He smiled at you as he spoke. The girl he was referring to was you; it was one of his favorite meals you'd ever made for him. You were certainly surprised that he remembered.

"Well, that girl has great taste because it's absolutely phenomenal"

"May I ask where she got the recipe from?" His hands joined together on the top of the table as he spoke.

"An old friend" His mother had given you the recipe many years ago, after you'd been dating for over a year.

"How's Debbie by the way?"

"She's been good... she's always asking for you. She also uhm... she doesn't exactly know that we broke up..." He fiddled with his fingers as he spoke.

"Why didn't you tell her?" He sighed at your question.

"I didn't want her to know that I'd fucked up and let you go" He mumbled but you still heard him.

"Y/n, I didn't want to bring it up because it's been months and I'm sure you've moved on, but I do want to apologize for that night. I should've tried to explain myself before you left. I hope you know that I didn't ever stop loving you, nor did I ever fall out of love with you. I was just dealing with a lot with the club and I was stressed out. I shouldn't have let you leave. I should've fought harder to keep you in my life. These past few months without you have been absolute hell for me, but I never stopped loving you. You're still my entire world." You flinched slightly hearing those words. You didn't expect to hear them.

The waiter brought your food the moment he finished speaking, both of you saying 'thank you' before continuing the previous conversation.

"I tried to move on, Mase. I really did, but everything reminds me of you. All the little things you did that made me feel so happy, I can't do anything without being reminded of you" You let out a soft sigh as you saw his eyes widen slightly at your confession.

"I wish you would've told me what was going on before I'd ended things between us. If I'd known, I could've helped you deal with it better. I never stopped loving you either, Mason. I don't think I ever could stop loving you" A smile spread across your face as you spoke. His eyes flickered across your face for a moment, taking in every feature you had.

"We could have dealt with it differently if we talked sooner, instead of waiting until it was already too late. Either way, I don't see anyone else in my future besides you" You continued.

"You're the only person I see in my future. I don't want anyone else but you" You swallowed hard at his words, feeling the nervousness come into your system.

Mason reached across the table to hold your hand, making you glance up at him momentarily.

"Can we try this again?" He spoke lowly, his eyes filled with hope as he stared into yours.

"I'd like that very much, Mase" You smiled as he leaned forward to capture your lips in a kiss. It was the perfect kiss. Smooth, yet passionate. The perfect kiss to help ease the hurt inside you that was now healed.

That was the only thought running through his head, the only thing that mattered in this moment. The guilt at not helping his brothers settle in after such a tough mission can come tomorrow.

Tonight, he planned on getting lost in you.

He keyed in the code to your front door. Your singing is the first thing he registered as he made sure the door locked behind him. His armor trailed behind him as he moved inside, following the sound of your voice into the kitchen.

There you are.

He could cry with how beautiful you were. Karking vibrant as you moved effortlessly in your own space, putting away dishes like it was a choreographed performance, your hips swinging to the beat you were singing.

You were everything good, and sweet, and kind, and pure in this galaxy. Everything he longed but never hoped for.

Everything you insisted he deserved.

He wasn’t so sure of that, not with the specter of old battles haunting him. But he also wasn’t a good enough man to care, not when you gave yourself to him so happily.

“Can I cut in?”

 You yelped, and Jesse was glad he chose to stay in the entry based on how you flailed about, surprised by his voice.

“Jesse!” Your tone was a mix of annoyed and overjoyed and he had never heard anything so lovely. You flew across the kitchen, forcing him to catch you as you threw yourself into his arms.

“Hi, gorgeous,” Jesse grumbled into your ear, his hold around you tightening. He let his hands mold to the curve of your frame, relishing in the feel of you securely against him. He could feel each breath you took as your chest expanded against his, and yet he was compelled to pull you even closer.

“How long do I have you?”

“Four days.”

He could feel your smile form against his neck. It was more than he usually got.

“Lucky.” Jesse looked down as he felt you pull back and look up at him. “You’ve got lousy timing. I just finished cleaning up. You’re lucky you’re cute, though. I don’t mind dirtying up the kitchen again. What d’ya want for dinner? I’ve got some tip yi—"

He cut you off with the seal of his lips against yours. Food wasn’t going to satisfy him. He needed you, and he needed you to need him just as fiercely.

Jesse walked you back to trap you against the wall, his hips meeting yours as he pressed himself against you, trapping you as his tongue darted out to tease your soft lips. Satisfaction hummed pleasantly through his body as you melted from his touch.

Your mouth dropped open at his insistence, and he couldn’t resist gently taking your lower lip between his own and sucking, soothing the strain after with the swipe of his tongue.

Gods, he couldn’t get enough of those sweet moans you made just for him.

“Sorry baby. I couldn’t wait another second. Needed my mouth on you. Needed you right here against me.” His apology was half sincere at best. Tomorrow he can be sorry for interrupting, for taking what he needed.

You pushed up against him to hold your lips against his as you said, “Don’t be sorry. I’ve missed you, too.”

Jesse pushed forward, done with teasing touches at your approval. He claimed your mouth with his, stealing the very breath from your lungs and replacing it with himself. You returned his frenzy, trailing your tongue against his before pulling back enough to nip at his lip, the shock of the sting shooting straight to his groin.

With a growl from deep in his chest, Jesse broke away, distracted for only a split second by the string of saliva connecting his lips to your sinful tongue, still poking out of your open mouth.

“Bedroom. Now,” he rasped, enamored at how quickly you jumped to follow his command, pulling him behind you to your bedroom door so you could both get what you needed.

Y/N had to admit, it was more than a little terrifying to walk into the lodging house known for homing the newsboys of Manhatten to be immediately scrutinised by the eyes of multiple teenage boys.

Y/N shifted awkwardly from foot-to-foot, holding the wrapped package in front of her. She caught the eye of a couple of newspaper girls standing at the back of the room, chatting.

"Hey - you looking for someone?" Asked a girl, walking over with a smile, her boots causing her footsteps to sound loud even in the crowded room.

"Uh - David? David Jacobs? He said I'd be able to find him here?" Y/N said awkwardly.

"Oh my god! You're Davey's girl!" Another, shorter, girl exclaimed, bounding over excitedly.

"Davey's girl? She's here?" A boy sitting nearby asked. His blond hair was covered with a newsboy hat, a cigar hanging from his lips and he was holding a hand of cards playing poker with a couple of the other guys, all of whom perked up at his loud voice.

"No chance that's Davey's girl!" A boy with bright red hair denied, shaking his head with a scoff.

"Hey - Romeo, didn't you try and sell her a pape yesterday?" Another one of the boys playing poker questioned, nudging a smaller boy, who was laying on the ground, looking as though he was caught up in some kind of daydream.

"Is there a girl in New York who hasn't been rejected by Romeo?" Drily questioned a boy in glasses, earning laughter from the congregated boys.

"I take it this is the right place?" Y/N asked a little awkwardly.

"Yeah - he, Les and Jack just went upstairs to split their earnings," a blond boy said, shooting her a sweet smile. "Jojo will go let them know you're here - but you're welcome to join us in the meantime."

"Oh, I'll go get them, will I?" The boy next to him questioned, rolling his eyes.

The first boy shot Y/N another charming smile, before picking up a crutch from beside him that Y/N hadn't noticed before, and using it to strike Jojo across the knees.

The newsie let out a yelp of pain and jumped to his feet, glaring at his friend, who just gave an innocent shrug of his shoulders.

"The hell's going on here?"

"Y/N!"

Relief washed over her at the familiar voice coming from the top of their stairs.

"Hey, Dave," she said with a smile.

Her boyfriend pushed past his brother and friend who stood on their steps, rushing over to wrap her in a hug.

"What're you doing here?" David asked.

"Well - happy birthday," she said, pulling out of the embrace to hand over his gift. "And I also wanted to meet your friends," she added in a quieter, more embarrassed tone.

"How's that worked out for you?" David teased, sharing a knowing grin with her. He ducked down to press a kiss to her lips, raising a cheerful 'whoop' from the boys surrounding them. When they pulled away, Y/N buried her face into Davids chest. "But you - so you did remember my birthday?"

"Of course I did. How could I ever forget just because you weren't in school," Y/N said with a laugh.

Davey ducked down to kiss her again, earning yet more jeers.

"I love you," he whispered. "And that's why I'm going to say that we should go get dinner somewhere away from my friends."

Watching “Scooby Doo, Where Are You?” (1969-1970 CBS) + Thoughts

Episode 22: Haunted House Hang Up

A headless man?

Shaggy can play the guitar, and Scooby drums.

Asha Shanks, a slouching big guy with a lantern, giving Scooby and Shaggy war flashbacks with the last big guy who held a lantern on their first meeting.

Headless Specter? Was the Dullahan too hard to pronounce??? (Dullahan = Headless Horseman monster from Irish folklore)

“The non-material embodiment or essence or organism that’s seen as a specter, wraith, or apparition has been scientifically proven to be a sheer myth. In other words, there’s no such thing as a ghost.” “Yeah, but does the ghost know that?” I now know why Velma wasn’t chosen to be part of Scooby Doo and the 13 Ghosts.

Floating candle! Will they actually explain it this time?

Cue Old-painting-of-an-older-person-but-if-you-look-away-for-a-moment-then-it-changes-in-a-creepy-way gag.

Is it just me or has the animation/design for the Scooby gang become significantly more wonky since they’ve entered the mansion?

We watch Headless Ghost using secret passageways to travel in the house. Seems interested in a jewelry box?

Shaggy pranking Scoob so that the poor dog accidentally volunteers to open the jewelry box for everyone. Maybe I shouldn’t be so hard on him for swiping Shaggy’s food from now on 😅

Bruh. Is it weird that when I saw a man’s head in the opened box, my first thought was “Oh, that is a nicely rendered head. Look at the details in the lines and values 🤩” , and then “Oh. That’s a HEAD?”

False alarm. ‘Tis a wooden dummy’s head.

“Aren’t you curious [about this mystery]?” “NOT ONE BIT.”

A random though popped into my mind. It is NOT CANON, but I wondered momentarily if Fred kept splitting the gang up the way he usually does because he’s always had some kind of crush on Daphne and was hoping to impress her. Occasionally he invited Velma so no one would notice, but all of them know but don’t want to embarrass him by pointing it out?

Velma shoves Shaggy and Scooby ahead of her into a dark room instead of going in first.

“I feel like I’ve been dipped in ink and let loose in a coal mine.”

Ah, the let’s-hold-hands-in-a-dark-room-so-we-don’t-lose-each-other-only-to-discover-we’ve-gained/lost-a-member-in-our-team-when-the-lights-are-on gag

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: Animation is WONKY this episode.

Cue this episode’s chase scene’s theme song.

“Headless” Specter has to bend super down low to look at specific things bc the guy who made his own costume didn’t think to create incognito areas/fabric to see (and yes I’m saying he made his own costume bc I believe Trick or Treat, Scooby Doo to be part of a different canon universe than the series and the older movies, just like how I view the live action films, the live action series, and the other adaptations. I think some fans arguing over which versions of the Scooby Gang’s are the “true”/“actual”/“correct” interpretations of these characters are a tad silly because even the original show had trouble pinpointing their personalities at times. Have fun and be cool.)

I know it’s in the name of good fun and shenanigans, but seeing all of those books being shoved off the library bookshelf by Shelma and Scooby made the book lover in me wince.

Headless Specter loses whatever little dignity he thought he had by jumping on the bed and angrily bouncing and stomping on the “bodies” (actually pillows) of Shaggy, Velma, and Scooby. Wow, dude.

A spinning wheel also serves as a bicycle. Shenanigans.

The well that was shown earlier has a secret passage.

We finally see what Fraphne is up to, and lo and behold, they are actually looking for clues and being useful as opposed to the writers usually having no clue what to do with them when they split the gang up.

Animation Goof: Daphne’s eyebrows disappear until she speaks.

Oooh! A trapdoor.

“Let’s take a look and be careful.” Me: *immediately begins countdown.* “Whoops!!” Only two seconds for Danger-Prone Daphne to slip 😅

I accidentally paused to talk to someone, and I have to restrain myself from laughing at the horrible twisted wince/scowl face Daphne is making as she is talking. Not sure why the animators are doing more in-betweens here between poses when the earlier episodes were just fine without them. Can’t fault them too much for making an attempt though.

Methinks the artists didn’t want Velma getting hit when Fred and Daphne are about to chuck jars at her, Shag, and Scooby out of self-defense, as we see in previous episodes Shaggy usually gets throttled from a misunderstanding.

I vaguely remember a scene where Shaggy and Scooby accidentally chew on non-inflated balloons thinking they were treats when I was younger; didn’t realize it was from this episode.

Animation Goof: Shaggy’s eyebrows are too thick for any man to handle.

Don’t know why later adaptations dumb Freddy down; he’s just as smart as Velma. There’s room for multiple smart people who are knowledgeable in differing areas! This is why I ship Frelma *gets slapped*

Why on earth would you give a Scooby Snack to a Flytrap, Shaggy? That’s just asking for an early version of Little Shop of Horrors.

Where did the Headless Specter come from?

Show is inconsistent with Shaggy and Scooby’s weights.

Huh. The Headless Specter isn’t Asha Shanks. Also, Headless Specter man isn’t the bad guy? He’s just trying to ward off grave-diggers and robbers?

Asha Shanks is the criminal, but he has nowhere near the same level of creativity or drama as the Headless Specter man.

One thing about Rick and Michonne - they did not split up if they didn’t have to. I love noticing how often they paired up and stuck together, especially pre-canon. And I also found it interesting the averse reaction they had whenever they did have to part. This “Richonne = magnets” stuff is just scientific fact. 😋 

(Side Note: before I even get into this post, I had to first quickly lose my mind over the latest glimpse into the spinoff. No spoilers for those avoiding any set pics…all I’ll say is ahhhhhh my heart is full and bursting at the same dang time and if you could have seen the scream I scrumpt when pics popped up on my tl last night. If just photos nearly knocked me out then I truly will be a mess in the best way when the show airs. We’re about to eat and I absolutely cannot wait 🤩🙌🏽

Now back to the regularly scheduled program, which is actually quite fitting since it’s all about how the king and queen are always together. Thanks in advance for reading, y’all 💛)

Once R&M decided they were done having any opposition after s3, they so clearly couldn’t hide how much they genuinely liked each other and enjoyed being around each other. And in the s4 premiere, Rick also could not hide that he was feeling a type of way when she kept going out to look for the Governor. An early indicator that Richonne ain’t meant to be split up. 

Then when everyone in the prison is scattered after Too Far Gone, of course Michonne is the one to reunite with her Grimes boys because even the universe knows they aren’t meant to be split up. 

In Season 5, Rick and Michonne are so often together. Like during the church dinner, the run with fellow couple Bob and Sasha, and when visiting Noah’s neighborhood. And they have to have a whole chat on who stays with the kids and who goes when Carol and Beth need rescuing from that hospital. Why? Cuz naturally they wouldn’t split up. 

And especially in The Distance we see how true that is. Rick is on full edge while Michonne is away looking for those cars. Then, after he’s willing to let her take the lead and make a huge decision for the group to go to ASZ, Rick of course wants Michonne to be the one that rides with him, Glenn, and Aaron. When their ride with Aaron goes awry and Michonne wants to go into the woods, Rick is against it…but then what’s the next scene? The two of them going into the woods. And later in the ep it’s just Rick and Michonne in that car with their kids while everyone else is in the RV. Why? Richonne doesn’t split up. 

In the s6 premiere, everybody is in different groups to take on the walker horde and whose paired together with Morgan? Of course Rick and Michonne are teaming up. They don’t split up. 

Michonne exhibits a rare moment of pure panic when Rick walks out of the infirmary to take on all those walkers in No Way Out. She’s so torn with an injured Carl inside and dazed Rick outside. She knows Rick needs her help. And deep down she knows if they’re going to take on anything it should be together.

When they go kill those Saviors in their sleep in 6x12, everybody pairs up and, despite being two people who could totally lead their own group, Rick and Michonne are paired up together with Daryl. (In my mind, I’ve always chalked that up to the fact that if they’re going to do something that dangerous R&M are going to need to visibly know each other are okay at all times lol. And magnets don’t split up.) 

It’s Rick’s turn to exhibit panic later in Season 6 when Michonne isn’t back yet after going out to find Daryl. In the scene where Abe offers him some comfort and later when he finds her locs on a walker, Rick seems so genuinely shaken. And a big reason why is cuz Richonne isn’t meant to be split up. 

In Season 7 they become even more consciously aware that Richonne is not meant to be split up when Michonne basically says as much in the 7x08 cell scene.

After both feeling off due to their distance in 7A, in the msf Michonne beautifully expresses how she doesn’t want it to be her way but “ours” and that the two of them can only win if they’re in it together. And then it’s the “me and you” way for them from there on out. When they go to Hilltop, The Kingdom, mow down walkers in cars (of which Rick says a passionate no when Michonne mentions splitting up lol), and meeting the Garbage group (where the arm grab that altered my brain chemistry just further illustrates they don’t like to be split up). They are side by side through it all. You already know why. 

Then, in one of TWD’s most gloriously blissful eps I got to thinking…how’d it work that only R&M went on that run for guns in 7x12? Like they needed a lot of guns and the streets were dangerous. They could’ve brought along a few more people, and yet Rick and Michonne told TF, “all y’all can stay home for this one, cuz we’re not trying to just look for guns while we’re out here.” #DirectQuote. Like I know they wanted this to be a two-person only run. Not just cuz they could handle it but cuz they wanted this honeymoon alone time together too. Here for it to infinity and beyond. And just further proof they don’t split up. 

Later when TF prepares to approach Oceanside, the gang is again all in groups and have these big tasks to set up and our lovely leader Rick said my main task is making sure my wife gets up that tree safe. Period. They don’t split up. 

Michonne has straight up sirens going off in her head while Rick is off at war in Season 8. Cuz they know they aren’t meant to be apart, especially when fighting the fight. 

In Season 9 (one of their most joyous eras cuz they’re finally able to be more settled and together🤗) they want as much time as they can get with each other. Even when work has Rick leading at the bridge and Michonne leading at ASZ, Rick is eager for them both to take a day off and have a family fun day cuz nothing is more important. And cuz they don’t like to be split up for long. 

These aren’t even all the moments I could pinpoint lol. But I think the case is proven. 

So of course these two are going to find each other even after all this time. We’re getting a whole reunion spinoff because Rick and Michonne’s connection is in every way magnetic. 

Years, distance, walkers, wars - ultimately nothing stands in the way of Richonne being together. Why? My babies don’t split up.🧲😌

Last week, the drag gods blessed us with so much legendary content. From the Snatch Game, to the introduction of the platinum plunger, and everywhere in between, this season is just getting started! There are three Legendary Legend stars at play entering the new week – putting Shea, Jinkx, and Monét at an early advantage. I just *know* these girls are about to pull stunts and strategy to make it to the top! 

This week, our queens are pushing the limits of their design skills in the Realness of Fortune Ball. Let’s take this recap for a spin, shall we?

Shea's Sitting On A Secret... Or Is She?

Looks like Monét X Change isn’t the only one putting her ‘Survivor’ knowledge to use! After being blocked last week, Shea decides to play her own game within a game. She returns to the Werk Room and tells the others she has learned the true potential of the platinum plunger. Fellow blocked queen Trinity The Tuck joins in on the fun, and sends the other girls into a spiral. The dolls de-drag with the threat of the “gift that keeps on giving” looming… *Aiden Zhane voice* boo! 👻

The Mini Challenge

Ru enters the Werk Room and announces this week’s mini challenge. First of all, I really appreciate how many uses producers have found for the lip sync smackdown wheel over the years. From grand finales to the Season 14 photoshoot challenge, she’s really out here getting that screen time!

Anyway, the queens each take turns spinning the wheel to determine which vacation destination will be their color inspiration on the runway this week. The best part? There’s a chance they’ll win some money while they’re at it! Poor Yvie is taken for a spin when she secures and then fumbles the bag, but it’s The Vivienne who snatches a (long overdue) cash tip.

Make It Werk, Designers!

Now that the fickle finger of fate has determined the queens’ color palettes, they get to work using the materials provided. Looking around the room, it’s clear that it’s gonna take an extra-special garment to stand out on the runway this week!

Trinity is off to the races with her red latex number, and pays a visit to Glue Town, U.S.A, where Jinkx is in a standoff against her sewing machine. Trinity shows Jinkx some sisterly love by helping her clean up the hem and jushing up the bodice. Hopefully that good karma comes back around next time Jinkx holds the power of the plunger! 😉

Monét “small waist, big talent” X Change is hard at work nearby, splitting her time between constructing her first garment since the infamous sponge dress and building her alliance. 😈 Trinity brings new bestie Jinkx over and our Twinners present an offer she can’t refuse, until *twist!* she does. Maybe she’s triggered by the Rolaskatox of it all, but it seems to me like Jinkx might have her own game plan in mind. The Twinners end up unsuccessful in their attempts to bring Jinkx, Shea, and Jaida in, and now what was once a secret alliance is known by more than half the cast. 😂

The Realness Of Fortune Ball

It’s time for the runway and we’re joined by extra-special guest judge Kirby Howell-Baptiste and the icon herself, Vanna White! With eight queens and 24 lewks on the runway, this newsletter simply doesn’t have the character limit to get into all of them. Instead, I’ll be dishing out superlatives for my personal standouts. ✨

Best Mug: Yvie Oddly

Yvie’s mug has always been on point, but the level of face she’s been serving this season does not go unnoticed. 🤩 She gave us two super glam runways out the gate, and went for a blown-out blushy pink moment for her punk Realness of Fortune Eleganza. The range!

Best Use Of Materials: Raja

With a reputation that precedes her, Raja absolutely delivered with her Realness of Fortune Eleganza. I really thought nothing could ever come close to her Season 3 Money Ball creation, but this over-the-top golden gown is BEYOND. Did you catch how she used the tube the fabric came on to build the structure? Genius.

Best Reference: Monét X Change

Don’t quote me on this, but I’m almost positive the collective gay scream when Monét turned the corner could be heard from space. 😭 From the paint drip to Queen Elizabeth’s signature coat dress silhouette, Monét definitely walked into Tuckingham Palace purse first!

Best Concept: Trinity The Tuck

The judges may not have gotten her Before & After concept, but Trinity came THROUGH with her Realness of Fortune Eleganza lewk. The red latex dominatrix ensemble stood apart from the rest thanks to her impeccable craftsmanship and her Kandi Burruss voice legs, and hips, and body-ody-ody. This lewk was perfectly styled from the mask, to her hand-made riding crop, and all the way down that stunning red unit.

Best Overall: Jaida Essence Hall

Proving once again she is more than just a pretty face, Jaida continues to take her fashion to new heights every time she hits the catwalk. She gave us Vanna White Realness the house DOWN from her sequined gown to her facial expressions, a clever Bag Lady In Red ensemble, and rounded out the night with her truly fierce vampy superhero number. Why y'all gagging? She brings it to us every ball!

And The Legendary Legend Stars Go To...

Once the judges have deliberated, Mama Ru announces Jaida and Trinity are the top two All Stars of the week. They each snatch a Legendary Legend Star, and assume the position. After years of a Beyoncé lip sync [love] drought, we are blessed with our THIRD this calendar year. 👑 The dolls give a close performance to ‘Green Light,’ but Jaida eventually came out on top.

The moment you were recruited for the Avengers, you knew that while you will be risking your health and mental stability for the job, it was something that you signed up for and you just have to learn to live with it. What you didn't know then was that you will also be risking your heart.

It was Natasha who convinced you that you will be an integral part of the growing group of heroes when she witnessed how you, a casual citizen that they were supposed to get out of the battle area during one of those days in New York City, instead quickly gave Sam and Peter the exact directions of where the man (who you weren't sure if it really was a man) went and a brief yet detailed description of his fighting moves and which part of the body the two shall target just from watching them fight hand to hand.

Since you were a kid, your parents told you that you were gifted with a sharp memory. They were right but that was definitely an understatement.

You had the perfect memory.

You didn’t understand why and how you can somehow remember everything exactly even if you just encountered or experienced it for only a split second. You kept your skill to yourself the last years, not even your family knows the extent of it. However, you always knew you could use it for something good so when the Natasha Romanoff asked you to join her, it only took a few statements and little encouragement before you found yourself nodding yes.

The moment you stepped inside the Avengers tower, you were interviewed by the team. Well at least some members of the team.

At first it was intimidating being a literal human being with nothing to offer but her brain in front of these agents, geniuses, enhanced and suited people as well as a literal god.

However, as soon as they warmed up with you, it was like you were friends with them for a long time.

In Peter’s words, you easily passed the vibe check.

It was your second day in the tower when you came face to face with the one and only Captain America with the Falcon beside him. They were wearing their suits and were surprisingly almost unscathed after what you assumed was a mission. They just got back and you could say you were culture shocked when you saw how they stood calmly and reported the mission to the other members of the team easily despite having a few cuts here and there.

Like Tony and Bruce, who were more than glad to have another brain that can solve and exchange ideas with them, Steve and Sam welcomed you with open arms. Well, not quite literally because you were sure that bruises were definitely preparing to show and you wouldn't want to risk making that worse. Plus, despite you wanting to hug these people who you look up to, it wouldn’t be appropriate as you are technically a stranger.

Behind them was a long haired man who was silently observing.  

The Winter Soldier.  

You saw how he gave you a once over. It wasn’t malicious or anything disrespectful. It was more like making sure that you were no threat to them.

You assumed it was his second nature to do that by now.

Of course you heard the stories. Who didn’t?

His background and journey was something that you still memorized from your lessons in high school about the world war. The news also covered him a lot over the years that you were well caught up on how the man deemed to be one of the most dangerous assassins was doing.

Howling Commandos.  

His fall from a train.  

A hero.

Then Hydra.  

The framing for the bombing of the Vienna International Centre.

The disagreement between Tony and Steve that lasted for three years and the almost complete breakup of the Avengers because of the Winter Soldier's mistakes.  

His pardon and recovery in Wakanda.  

And finally, his recruitment in the Avengers after everything was settled between the two leaders of the team.

Standing face-to-face with who you know most people still found a threat, you found yourself offering him a shy yet genuine smile.  

You had an intense amount of respect for the man. He's been through hell, probably worse, but he is still here trying to make his wrongs right. To have that will to keep going after everything, you can't help but look up to him.  

He looked surprised with your gentle and warm nature that he can't help but give a small smile back.  

He was dressed in a black suit that you are quite familiar with as you remember every detail of it from watching few 10-second videos from the news.  

"Oh, Y/N, this is Bucky." Steve smiled kindly, quite exhausted yet welcoming as he encouragingly pushed the man towards you.  

You nodded and gave a gentle nod towards Bucky's direction. "Sergeant Barnes, it's nice to finally meet you," you greeted, maybe too formally.  

You didn't want to offend the guy by calling him by his nickname without his permission. You thought it was only right for you to address him respectfully.

His blue eyes twinkled as soon as he heard his military title. His jaw dropped almost comically but he managed to get a hold of himself and smiled at you timidly after a few seconds.  

"Oh boy, Y/N just stole Barnes’ heart and soul.” Sam’s teasing from the side didn’t escape your ear.

Bucky gave him a glare before looking back at you, his eyes now soft. "Just Bucky, doll," he spoke softly. He then gently grabbed your hand, holding on it loosely giving you a chance to pull it away.  

You smiled at him encouragingly and waited for his next move.

He raised your hand to his lips and gave it a light feathery kiss, eyes staying on yours as he did. "It’s nice to meet you too," he said as he lowered your hand and let it go.  

Your breath hitched and you felt your cheeks warm up.  

Your eye contact with Bucky lasted for a few more seconds before Natasha urged them to head to the hospital wing to get fixed up.

You smiled to yourself as your eyes followed the trio as they walked out the door.

That was the moment you knew that beneath that stoic, emotionless and cold-looking man, there was still little left of the gentleman from the 40s that you may or may not have daydreamed about when you were once roaming around the Smithsonian.
