Spoilers for Noragami ch 108-2
OKAY.
So I haven’t been active on my account for a few years, but I still come back every month for the Noragami chapters and now that it’s ending I wanted to jump back in to the fandom.
I think that Yato survives because Amaterasu grants him existence without a lifeline (possibly?) OR we find out the Tsukuyomi theory is real (and maybe Yato really wasn’t vanishing, but like turning into his true self???)
Honestly, I think what’s going to happen is that Hiyori does not remember the Far Shore, but just always feels like something is missing. She goes on to live a full life and when she dies, she regains all of her memories and lives with Yato and Yukine forever.
I think it would be too tragic if Yato dies. It would go against all the themes in the story.
1. Yukine was abused by his father and now has a father figure he can rely on. If Yato dies, that’s just too much loss for him. Too tragic. He finally accepted his death and to rip away his new family is just too much and does not serve the story well.
2. Hiyori and Yato have this ongoing theme of being “bound by fate.” When they first meet, Hiyori recalls how she doesn’t have anyone she likes, then locks eyes with Yato.
Their plaques are tied (by Kofuku rip), but they are blessed by the matchmaking god, so that counts for something yeah? He says that he hoped they find happiness and killing Yato and tearing them apart permanently does not make sense.
Hiyori’s grandmother tells her to be with the person she loves the most and Yato pops up. Regardless of what anyone says about cutting ties, in the end, all she wants to do is be with him. Which is another running theme throughout the story.
Thoughts are kinda messy and I may be able to construct something more elaborate later, but I would love to hear thoughts!! I miss interacting with the fandom and am sad to see my favorite manga end

Chapter 104 thoughts
I'm back from posting purgatory and have rewritten, more or less, what Tumblr deleted, so now it's time for my favorite game: Ina Tries To Figure Out What The Fuck Happened In The Latest Noragami Chapter. Spoilers under the cut.
So at the beginning we see trash dad cut himself free from Fujisaki and revert to his original form, while Fujisaki wakes up in Yukine's old house, far from home. I'm really interested to see how much he knows, which I said last time--whether he was aware he was being used or if he's basically been unconscious for the past year. I think he has to be aware on some level, because he knows Father's true name and has to invoke it to summon him from Yomi, but it would also be funny if he flies into a panic, follows the newly created lake, and ends up with the main cast. How far are they from the house, anyway?
Come to think of it, I've been reading Alive since last month (Adachitoka's first manga, which was written by their mentor while they drew the art) and while I'm not done yet, the north of Japan features prominently as a setting for that story and as the final showdown for this one. I'm not sure why, maybe they're from there, but it's interesting.
I'm so glad Yato slammed into trash dad after he insulted Mizuchi. It shows he does recognize her as a victim, and is willing to let things mend between them, since she's had her own character arc since Yato released her name. Don't get me wrong, that was still the right choice for him at the time--but they've both changed since then. And I always love the character development in this manga so this had me bouncing in my seat.
YATO ALSO SAYING HE'S NOTHING BUT A DEAD PERSON LIKE YESSSSSS GET HIM GET HIM KILL HIS MISERABLE ASS
Ahem. I wish Yato had been able to land at least one punch on this horrible man, but it's time for a shounen powerup.
Using the koto no ha on himself grants trash dad access to Izanami/Izanagi level powers, which I think is a temporary powerup that will end with Izanami taking him back to Yomi, because of how he can "feel her breath" on his neck. He plans to then escape again, and possess another body.
This new power is an ass pull as fast-moon put it, but it's also not the first of its kind in Noragami. Think back to Yukine getting cut in half and becoming a hafuri, Amaterasu appearing out of nowhere to give Hiyori the hint that saved Yato's life in Yomi, and how the main characters were saved from the covenant which provided the entire basis for the current arc (due to unresolved tensions between them and the rest of heaven). Basically, in Noragami these things happen with good reason and/or hugely impact the rest of the story, so I think it's best to wait and see how this trash dad development plays out before making judgments on how it affects the writing quality.
There's an old Noragami theory that Father is Izanagi, or stole his power, and it's been mostly dismissed in recent years (but there's an echodrops post about it here if you're interested in the points it made) and even more so since we got snippets of his backstory, but I think it's worth bringing back up now. Izanagi has been suspiciously absent from the manga, and I'm not sure he's even been mentioned, so I wonder if the koto no ha ties into that somehow. Honestly if Izanami killed him in this version of the story and used his power to make the koto no ha, good for her.
Anyway, trash dad reveals he's not just some human who came back from the dead. He can use these powers of creation; it's unclear whether he's used them before, but Yato has never seen him do so--Mizuchi seems to know what he's doing, but it's also unclear whether she's seen it either. I said years ago I don't think it was easy as him just returning from the dead and being granted godlike powers, but I haven't been insistent on it so much because I did a reread of the official translation two years ago and that version heavily implies the only thing trash dad did to get his powers was come back from the dead. I wonder how they'll reconcile that when this volume gets translated (please hold for another 2 years, lmfao).
Is this Izanagi's power, or Izanami's? Did he steal Izanagi's powers next after he paid Izanami a visit? Did he know what using the koto no ha on himself would do? Was it an educated guess based on Izanami's power? Is it still possible he could be a reincarnated Izanagi that believed himself to be human? I don't know if I'd like that last one, but these are the questions I hope to have answered.
Taking a brief detour to discuss that Kiun and Mayu have joined forces to look for their gods, and Ookuninushi is alive but has with him three freshly reincarnated gods--Yatagarasu, Kagutsuchi, and Shinatsuhiko. I'm shocked he lived and they died, but it may lead to an interesting change in heaven where he has to reconcile how they threw away their shinki lives even after they were explicitly told not to use them. The way heaven (and most gods) treat their shinki as not people but disposable tools has been a long-running theme of this manga, and it's been clear larger-scale changes need to be made.
So back to the main event, trash dad creates a biblical sort of flood, but one that brings images of the past. Alongside the tree where a young Yato named Sakura, we also see a cottage and a multi-level house. The cottage may be where Yato and Hiiro were raised, or it might be the one from the Father flashbacks: Check them out side by side:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(103-2; page 1 [Father and Kaya village]; 104, page 21; 45, page 33 [Yato, Hiiro, Father cottage] if you want to check for yourself)
Next, there's that multi-story building, which could be the place where Yato made his first kills, or Hiyori's grandmother's house. There isn't much visible, so it's hard to tell, but here's another side by side:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(46, page 9 [where Yato made his first kills]; 104, page 21; 85, page 42 [Hiyori's grandmother's house])
If this enchanted world functions similarly to Hiyori viewing Yato's past while he's asleep, Hiyori will get to experience trash dad's past as it really happened. I've mentioned before it bothers me how the gravekeeper has been narrating the events even though he wasn't present for any of them, so it's entirely likely Father manipulated the facts of his history, or they naturally changed over the course of a thousand years.
I also think Hiyori could find out trash dad's weak point, his true name, if/when she witnesses his past. She could then become his lifeline and decide to let the secret die with her. Or he could possess her, but I'm being optimistic.
The tree she sees is the tree where Yato named Sakura, but it could also have some significance to Father and Kaya; if the cottage where he raised Yato and Hiiro was in the same general location as that village, he could have some memories there.
So if we get Hiyori and Sakura interaction I will cry. If we get Hiyori and Kaya interaction I will also cry.
Next few chapters I'm really excited to see where this enchanted lake dimension thing goes. Yukine could also be caught up in it, depending on how far it has spread, and it'll be interesting to see how Amaterasu reacts to it too.
I don't normally say this, but reblogs are appreciated. This post required a lot of skimming older chapters to tie my thoughts together, and my original draft got half erased when I was just finishing it up so I had to rewrite a lot of it. Plus it seems like everyone was pretty confused by the events of this chapter, so a reblog would help to spread it around and hopefully shed some light on the events. Thanks!

---->An explanation of the story I want to tell<----
---->Nothing goes right and the everlasting need the characters feel to just be happy is never fulfilled, or maybe it is?
---->The only person to see this is my best friend because it started out as a role play thing but further into it I realized this was the story I wanted to tell.
--->Not one where Janis is a gangster volleyball player that has it all and so much more to the point its sickening.
---->Not one where Janis dies via suicide and reincarnates fresh as new the next day.
---->Not one where Janis is so disgustingly gross to the point I wonder what the hell was wrong with me.
---->The story I'm meant to write is one similar to Owari no Seraph, in its complicated and has tragic history but also to Noragami, in that it has a hierarchy of humanoid gods and the main characters dont want everything, just happiness. But it's neither really, because the story I want to tell is named "Apples and Bugs" (working title idrk) and under the cut is an analysis and further explanation towards everything that want to happen.
First, as spoken by the former archangel Luca, now a fallen angel.
"Yep. She was Adam and eikko was Eve and they were the beginning of humans. I'm sure if it wouldn't kill eikko, I could make her remember that far into her past." He said "but anyway, earth started out as it's said in textbooks, evolution and all that stuff led to dinosaurs. But then the gods popped into existance to earth and wiped out most life to make it more advanced with the introduction of humans. The God of God's, amaryllis, made Janis from her own rib and then eikko from Janis' rib to make who Christians know as Adam and eve. Though this happened hundreds of times as they kept dying and dying, until they accidentally created vampires and magic, which allowed Adam and eve to survive finally." He said
___________________________________________________
To start, Janis is Adam, a man born near Korea when the earth was in its beta stages, meaning the little islands that make up Japan are on the continent of Asia currently. Eikko is born what would be called Japanese today and so Is Janis, though in most of her renditions, she's Korean.
The reason planets and everything are there is because of just suddenly the universe imploded sometime and made everything (following the big bang theory I guess). That included the God of God's, Amaryllis, who was born from an incredible supernova bringing a being of pure energy to sentience.
She found earth and decided to have some fun because at this point, she had been alone for aeons upon aeons. She sees the beginning stages of earth, bacteria and mostly water, and sees it as her canvas. Under her watch, the world evolves like in most textbooks, up until the dinosaurs, at which she wipes her slate mostly clean to make way for none other than all the Adam's and Eve's. Then she expirements to keep her creations alive longer, and incidentally creates magic and vampires. Adam is able to drink blood to keep himself alive and Eve can turn her energy into magic that can make sustenance, making a small food chain. It took a few incarnations before Adam realized he needed Eve to survive, instead of drinking all her blood right away. This built their relationship as Adam dependant on Eve, leading to all future vampires treating women like goddesses because Eve helped vampires thrive in their early days.
___________________________________________________
"The top 10 gods did similar expirements all over the world and it culminated in the birth of multiple civilizations all over the world. Janis lives on for longer than eikko as she eventually dies as a human. Janis then killed herself and they hit their first reincarnation. The gods were shocked at this, but watched in happiness as the sentience they made turned out to be just as complex as their own. I was born around that time, made out of janis' pure anguish as she realized eikko wasn't with her anymore. They called me an angel and told me Janis was my duty so I was to watch over her and observe for the gods." He said quietly "I was so young, and my body was so pure then....." he said softly
___________________________________________________
Amaryllis then made gods from supernovae she herself caused, with her infinite energy source and the 10 most powerful were made to start civilizations, allowing for diversity. This ended up in 1/5 males being vampires and when mated with human women, they had a 1/2 chance of having vampire babies. This grew the populations around the world of both humans and vampires.
During all this growth, Adam witnesses his Eve die before him from old age. As he had grown dependant on her, he felt so angry and sad that he couldn't handle it and killed himself.
Now our narrator, Luca, was born from this anguish as a innocent babe. The gods hadn't expected the pure anguish of a being other than them could have produced a winged creature such as luca, but went with it, making Luca the first angel (but not really considered an angel until he did a holy deed, further mentioned ahead). They assigned him to watch over Adam for research but not to intervene in what they carry out their human nature.
___________________________________________________
" Skip ahead a few hundred years, we had castles with elevated magic and a semi sophisticated society. That's when geo was born half spirit, with half of a seemingly random spirit in him to keep him alive. This spirit was me, or my human version, because appearantly I was human before angel. That human had a weak body and died in childbirth, growing up in the spirit world as a scared boy. Eventually, geos parents found the spirit and he wanted to be alive again so he agreed, giving up a chance at reincarnation to keep geo alive." He said quietly
___________________________________________________
Hundreds of years later, they end up in the time of castles and kings, the renesaince. This time, we shift to Geo Archviste, the prince of lady Shiromiya, Lady Sonneto, and His highness, Sir Pierre de Archviste. Selen is a spirit and she made love with Pierre, resulting in a baby with half the spirit needed to keep a baby alive.
They scoured the spirit world (a separate pocket space where all the spirits slip into and roam until their eventual reincarnation or damnation after being judged by Pierre) for a spirit willing to take on the noble task and Luca's human spirit was chosen to keep the boy alive. Now Luca would be permanently an angel, unless he were to fall and become a demon in hell to assist in punishing the bad spirits until rehabilitation for reincarnation.
___________________________________________________
Its oki sorry i kinda worried you///
"That deed was perceived as noble by a god and then I was made into an angel without a spirit. Then time went on and Adam and eve reincarnated. Eve was now eikko and Adam was now a young man named....it'd be disrespectful to say....he was born in what is now known as Korea as a vampire, and lived on feeling strange." He said
" He eventually found out the cause of this feeling was his body, feeling jealous of women and their beautiful bodies. But then as he thought more, he began to understand it wasn't just their bodies, he had more of the mind of a woman and understood then that he was born in the wrong body. Her life continued as she traveled and understood her condition further, taking her name from one of her slain vampire brethren, Janis foster. She moved more into Europe before being slain by the church that had established there. She was then reincarnated in the vampire world, a world made akin to the spirit world but for the protection of vampires. She became their princess before fleeing for the human world."
___________________________________________________
Adam and Eve are reintroduced again, now reincarnated as Eikko and **** ***. The latter is born into a male vampire body while Eikko is born a woman.
As **** *** goes on, she finds herself through her adventures and is included in many battles, taking the name of one of her honorable vampire friends Adam was **** *** and now she's Janis Foster.
Janis went through her travels, traveling more inland, until the church killed her. The church had a weak understanding of the real god(s) and reasoning behind everything and thought vampires to be hellspawn, so they embarked on crusades against vampire kind, leaving tension and vampires to go into hiding.
The vampires had fashioned a spirit world like pocket space on earth just for vampires out of a collective pool of hundreds of individual magics, and Janis ended up reincarnated into it and was made their princess. By this time, she had found a way to give herself a womanly chest via magic and it greatly helped her self and Public image but sadly nothing could be done for her lower parts because of the complexity of the organs. She was accepted as a princess, but vampires only have princesses(queens really) to well (mainly rule) have children as vampires are way less fertile than humans and it takes a lot to successfully have a child, let alone multiple.
She felt wrong getting someone pregnant just because she was told to and the amount of red flags was forehead high for her and she didn't like anything about the vampire kingdom so she fled.
___________________________________________________
"She then became a knight for the first kingdom willing to take her in and from there on, accomplished many feats such as ending entire wars with just her own hands and holy sword. She was then sold to the renku kingdom to pay off their debts and assigned to look after eikko, now reincarnated as a princess. After that, they eventually fell in love with eachother and met geo, who they then fell in love with as well. But their relationship wasn't perfect, as it slowly degraded from Janis and geos obsessive nature's." He said
___________________________________________________
Janis took on her persona of a knight and as he said, accomplished many feats, such as ending the great ogre war, ending territorial disputes with the great forest fae (a more talk it out kind of thing but it was serious. Wars were planned), and stopping the senate of her kingdom (the Regulus Orchid kingdom), from waging war against 4 powerhouses in the kingdom economy they had going on that would ruin the peace of the entire continent.
But her usefulness outlived her, as she was sold to the Renku kingdom to pay off their debts. She was worth about $5 million in usd now, but 6,000 gold coins back then. A coin for reference could get you dinner and lunch for 4 days.
She was assigned to protect Eikko Renku, the kingdom's princess on her travels to find a suitable husband across many kingdoms and eventually they fell in love.
--> some more juice to this part, a suitor came to her kingdom and acted like your typical man at that time, misogynistic and coddling. He ended up sneaking a team of assasins in somehow and tried to ambush Eikko in the courtyard, but Janis easily slain all of them. However, it's revealed later that Eikko had died and Janis traded the souls of the men she slain for Eikko to come back. She was lucky and toyed with the kingdom of hell and all souls to bring her crush back because she thought she was really cute. She's a person who doesn't think much of her actions, and would have done it for anyone but not cared of the result (most times a no), but for Eikko, she pleaded with her all to bring her back to life. It brings back into light the original Adam and Eve relationship, with Eikko as Eve and Janis as Adam. (She's a vampire still)
As stated before, vampires are naturally submissive to human women, and Janis had been extra obsessed with eikko. Geo had too, but his love wasn't in his genes, he genuinely fell into extreme love for both of them. This led to roughy patch upon roughy patch as Janis slain Eikkos entire previous kingdom by letting a Mimic into the castle grounds.
A mimic is a waterborne shape-shifting creature that favors humans. They are animalistic and kill and feed upon those that treat it with disgust. It can't talk understandably except to those who it blesses with its friendship, such as Eikko. She eventually came back to ker kingdom slain and finds the Mimic but befriends it before Pierre euthanized it humanely, as they are incredibly dangerous. Looking back, he felt bad, but he had a kingdom to protect, he couldn't take the risk of it escaping the castle.
___________________________________________________
"Eventually geo decided it would be best if they started over and poisoned all three of them, hoping for a new life together. But only eikko and Janis died, because geo was immortal but though the poison would work. He was left alone for hundreds of years before meeting Janis as an alchemist, who then helped him to bring eikko back, at a cost." He mumbled
"Janis ended up dying, but eikko was now in a fake body that was nearly completely human. Geo and eikko were together again but now they needed Janis. They found her a few hundred years later as a vampire oni. They were finally back together but happiness was short lived as about a hundred years later, janis and geo were kidnapped by a devil that wanted to try and use Janis' blood to manufacture a plague that would destroy the God's expirements."
___________________________________________________
Geo had found their relationship beyond repair and found a poison said to kill immortal beings such as himself and vampires. He then had all three of them take it to try and get them to reincarnate together, but it backfired as you could tell. It couldn't kill immortals, just vampires because of it vampire warding toxins, and humans because of their low immunity to the chemicals in the poison.
He went on, grief-stricken and obsessed with getting them back. He managed to get Eikko's soul contained and works with alchemists across the globe, looking for a way to bring Eikko back. He then comes across Janis, now an alchemist that was trying to find someone to fund her rebirth studies, and they worked together. They made the first synthetic human body and brought it to life, at the cost of Janis' life.
Eikko then lives on with Geo until they find Janis a few centuries later as a vampire oni now. She's rude and brash, but they end up making her fall for them and go back to her mostly complainant and nice personality that they fell in love with.
They were like that for a bit, before eventually, Geo and Janis were kidnapped for about 13 years by a devil trying to wipe out humanity.
___________________________________________________
"It didn't work and eikko moved on as she was left alone for over a decade. But Janis and geo eventually escaped and got back together with eikko only to find out she was with someone else under the pretense they were dead. This led Janis to try and become a god to protect them and keep them all safe, but it backfired and she received a holy punishment. She watched eikko and geo die before her eyes before staying chained up for over a millenia."
___________________________________________________
Janis and Geo are eventually able to escape, but by then, she had moved on on the pretense they were dead. They try hard to salvage the relationship but Janis (driven a bit mad by the torture) sees Eikko's new boyfriend as an enemy and evil so she gets rid of him and goes through with the ritual to turn into a god, made by her previous research as an alchemist, in an attempt to protect her loved ones.
It backfired too, and she ended up watching Eikko and Geo be slain in front of her before she was chained up for a millenia. During this time, Luca re-appeared and committed a grave sin: don't communicate with those on the living plain. And he was descended from heaven, his angelic body very slowly degrading without the support of the heavens.
___________________________________________________
"Then we're brought to your last reincarnation. You two found Janis and lived out a normal life with her for the most part. Until you two died of old age and she killed herself to with you two. Then I made her cult, to bring her power and help her thrive as a god. You and geo were born into the cult and you know the rest by now right?" He asked quietly
___________________________________________________
Then their latest reincarnation, they have near happiness, but leave Janis behind, more detailed in (blurb link here). Luca makes a cult after Janis to give her power that she can one day use to reinstate him to heaven. Now that's probably all lol. Idk I'm writing this on one huge hyperfixation rn lollll

Hello... I hope your fic finders are willing to help me find a noragami tsukuyomi theory fanfic which might not have been tagged as one. The important parts which I remember are that Nana was one Tsukuyomi's shinki, that she somehow ended up visiting Hiyori's grandma with Yato and Yukine because of Masaomi's wish for toilet paper, their family maybe having some sort of a tie to Tsukuyomi thanks to that bow and arrows (I am not entirely sure if I remember this part right), meeting Inari who is still holding a grudge for Ukemochi's death and somehow that heading to Hiyori being a reincarnation of a human girl who Tsukuyomi was going to marry and.
I know I haven't read Noragami in a couple of years but what happened??? Isn't Nana Bishamonten's new shinki?
Post finders, ASSEMBLE!

First of all- I love your blog alot. I followed it years ago when I was still in the Black Butler community and I'm happy it's still active and informative. Secondly- Are you on Twitter too ? If not I'm gonna set up a new Tumblr just to follow you again ! Thirdly- Besides Black Butler, are there other fandoms you're in ? Which ones and what about them do you enjoy ?
Blogs, tweets, and fandoms
Thanks!
I am on Twitter, but I don't cover much Black Butler on there -- just every once in a while, and it's almost exclusively Mother3 theory quickies, like comparison pics for character parallels. Can't post long tweets unless you create a thread of multiple tweets, so I find it difficult to use for anything extensive. My twitter is @ qwys; just remove the space. I can't type it like normal here because it randomly happens to be someone else's Tumblr!
I'm not active in other fandoms, per se, though I used to blog about Harry Potter... a long time ago... on blogger.com (BlogSpot). Those old blog entries are probably still there. 😮 My old pet portrait service blog is still there, too!
As far as other things I'm into now, though I'm not active in the fandoms, there's Jujutsu Kaisen, Berserk, and Noragami mangas... as well as the horror manga authors Junji Ito and Kazuo Umezz/Umezu. I just recently binge watched the anime adaption (so far) for Jujutsu Kaisen, and it seems to be sticking to the manga very well. In all cases, the stories are interesting, and I tend to go for the horror stories and gore. I also tend to go for heavy illustrations; I mean artists that have highly detailed styles. I hope that the artists taking over for Kentaro Miura do his style for Berserk some justice. Junji Ito's illustrations also become mesmerizing, particularly when he gets into the body horror. And Umezz/Umezu is one of Ito's influences. Definitely not for everyone! But I grew up with Edward Gorey and H.R. Giger as early influences in my own doodles, so.... 🤷🏻‍♀️ 😂
Maybe I'll see ya around Tumblr again soon?

Iris_FT ha compiuto 10 anni oggi!
Iris_FT is 10 years old today!
So many things happened in the last 10 years. i was 14 when I first logged in this amazing app, I was just a lil girl with a bunch of dreams in the pocket, obsessed with the manganime world. This was my safe place, the community was amazing back then, Fairy Tail fandom was great, I remember our talks about the new chapter released each week and all the theories! Noragami fandom too, it was great to chat about theories, mainly about Yukine’s past life and so much more!
I am 24 now, I am a nurse and I grew up through the things the life made me face. The Fairy Tail fandom is now the Fairy Tail 100 year quest fandom and it is still amazing, full of awesome people always ready to talk and to get in touch. The Noragami fandom too, still amazing, full of the nicest guys in the world. We got the reveal about Yukine’s past and his death and we are about to face together the end of this amazing, incredible masterpiece.
Thank you to everyone who was part of this great experience through the years.
10 years. It was amazing.

Commissions?!
So I know that this is way out of the blue, but this is something that I've been wanting to try for a long time. I figured it might be time to take some big steps for the future, and this is what came to mind. This would also help me out financially since I recently moved into a new place.
Anyway, I’ll try to be as thorough as I can without boring you. And of course, if you have any questions please message me.
To start with, I’ll still be writing my own personal stories but it may be in between commissions or after a determined commission period depending on how many commissions I get.
Then there’s the kind of services I provide. How I’ve broken it down is I write fanfics and original stories, this includes: blurbs, drabbles, and one-shots. That applies to original stories as well, however if you are wanting a series that will have to be something that you and I discuss to see if it’s plausible for me.
Also, I not only write stories but I can offer some editing services as well. Take a look at the services down below, it’s explained more in depth there.
Next, how I will take commissions and how they’ll be paid for. When it comes to asking for a story, It's pretty simple; private message me and we can talk about what it is you are looking for. On the pay side, I’ll be doing this through paypal. Now I’ll be honest, I had a bit of a hard time using paypal but I think it’s all set up. I’ll provide a link to it to my paypal and it’ll take you to a page where you can enter the amount of a commission, write what kind of commission you want, and it’ll send it along (again I’m not use to paypal, so let me know if there are any problems).

Noragami Theories: Yato
*Warning: Spoilers up to Chapter 78-2*
I know there is a lot written about the Tsukuyomi theory, but I can’t help but think that he might be someone else instead. (Sorry in advance for the long post. I tried to put in a “keep reading” but it didn’t seem to work for mobile)
I think he could be:
Ōyamatsumi
“Ōyamatsumi (大山祇) in Japanese mythology is an elder brother of Amaterasu, and an important god who rules mountain, sea, and war. He is also the father of Konohanasakuya-hime,[1] the kami of Mount Fuji.
His most important shrine, Ōyamazumi Shrine, is located on Ōmishima.”
It's definitely possible, and though there are things that I can and can’t match up to this theory, no theory is perfect. (I also had a hard time finding any info at all about Oyamatsumi.) Here goes:
Oyamatsumi, "who rules mountain, sea and war."
We were given several clues:
Sea
Tumblr media
War
Tumblr media
and Mountains
Tumblr media
(We can also say that all the pictures of Yato with the moon behind him are referring to a control of the seas or tides, or of a closeness to the heavens, as if standing on something tall (like a mountain).)
So. Chapter 78-2. Getting chased by ayakashi without any help in sight, Yato was forced to name Kazuma as his own in order to not die via ayakashi. The weapon not only changes from a sword to a bow, but also includes a few articles of clothing: scarf, gloves, jacket, shoes. With this type of shinki, Yato doesn't look like he normally would with a shinki. His shinki don’t usually change his appearance (like Bishamons’ shinki do).
He looks like a hunter. Hunters are usually found in an area with forests, like a mountain. (Yes, its true that every shinki is different, but they are all related to the user. For example, all Bishamons shinki are either weapons or armor, which matches her personality of being a god of war. Even Kazuma, who is only an earring, becomes something useful to a god of war. And a nora becomes something different for each master they have.)
1. In the beginning of chapter 26, it was mentioned that the nearby dam had dried up. The dry dam was shown, and in the center, in the deepest spot, was a shrine. It looked as if it had been there a while, and was starting to deteriorate. An abandoned shrine. If this shrine had been loved, wouldn’t they have tried to save it somehow? Maybe pick it up and relocate it? Or maybe put the dam itself in a different spot? The shrine was obviously damaged, but not destroyed, which would mean that it hasn’t been there long enough for the water to ruin it completely. A shrine that was abandoned, and then forgotten about completely when the water from the dam covered it in recent years.
This pic was shown once, but never mentioned again. I wonder if it could be one of the shrines that was "erased" from history. Back at the beginning of the heavens arc, we are told that anyone who doesn't side with the heavens would have their names "struck from the roster and all their shrines destroyed,” reducing them to a cult. I can’t help but wonder if this forgotten shrine is actually Yatos’ old one.
Upon looking at the website for the listed shrine (”Oyamazumi Shrine”), I found that offerings were left, often being weapons, and that it was located near water.
The abandoned shrine we are shown could easily have been next to an ancient stream, and was destroyed by the dam, and forgotten. Maybe they "destroyed" it by making this one inaccessible to anyone else, while getting rid of all the other ones. Or made it so people would forget about it sooner somehow, since there were probably many people who might’ve come to visit (probably with a spell or something).
2. When Scissors-kun comes running in with the ayakashi chasing after him, Yato immediately comes down from his spot on the bridge to help. He doesn't stop to think about what could happen, or that he doesn’t have a shinki with him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He saw the ayakashi and even though he didn't know Scissors-kun well (apart from his memories of a past life, since he’d tried to name him) Yato still decided to go help, and ended up saving him.
does this sound like something a god of calamity would do? No, it doesn’t.
3. We could say this is a result of him wanting to change and be a god of fortune, or it could be something more, as if his true nature was showing through at that moment. He could’ve changed enough over time, that his true nature more easily shines through (though I do think that some of the personality traits he displays are caused from “father’s” abuse.)
There's a couple times where I think we see his true nature come through, (it’s not that often, and difficult to pick out) and one of them was when he was coerced into telling Sakura her true name, even though he knew that he shouldn’t.
When he was with her, he’d found something different. Somewhere he could be with people and have contact with someone else other than just “father” and Hiiro. He was able to experience something he wasn’t allowed to before (since father was raising him to be a god of calamity) and decided that it was something good. He wanted to be part of that world too. The one that showed him this “new world” was Sakura, and she became a special person to him. He began to realize the value of people's lives and what it meant to be a god. (Children don’t have any experience with hiding emotions or such, and are more easily read than an adult would be.) He didn't want to lose that connection, but was still tied to father due to psychological abuse.
I believe his true nature was showing in the times he spent with Sakura (free to be himself without worry), and also in the moment he lost her. He’d realized just how special she was, and desperately wanted her to be saved, even though it was impossible. Even Hiyori could see that Sakura was important to him, and just how toxic the relationship between Yato and “father” is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4.  A true god of calamity would never have had the same reaction as yato did, when experiencing the things that Sakura showed him. A true god of calamity would have continued like father had instructed: “fun” things being killing and bringing the victim’s ears to him, and causing a lot of fear in the people they encountered. A true god of calamity wouldn’t have listened to Sakura, and wouldn’t have been interested in learning anything from her about the people living nearby.  A true god of calamity would’ve ignored her teachings and kept killing, because they would be someone who truly enjoyed it.
Maybe this is why Takemikazuchi referred to Yato as a “false god.” As one that goes against his “nature.”
But that might be because he’s not really a god of calamity.
Once Yato realized how important relationships between people are, and after he lost Sakura, is when he began to rebel and tried to get farther away from “father” (but he never could break that connection.)
That is, until he found Hiyori and Yukine.
Because of them, he found the strength to begin fighting back and severing his ties with this toxic relationship, starting with releasing Hiiro, and currently with his mission to get rid of “father” all together. Because of them, he decided he wanted to change for real this time, and to keep it that way (instead of going back to “them”). Because of Hiyori and Yukine, he decided he didn’t want to be known as a god of calamity anymore. Because of them, he is now on the path to become a god of fortune.
5. Oyamatsumi’s description makes him sound like a guardian deity. Like someone who would protect someone else.
Based on the description of the shrine, this was not some warrior god. He sounds more like someone that people looked up to for protection and even brought offerings.
Yato being a god of calamity is something that “father” created in him.
6. In the Yomi arc, Yato is stuck in the underworld with no escape from Izanami. They discover that “Yato” isn’t his “real name,” but Hiyori figures it out and rescues him. But before that, they get a visit from a mysterious girl. The most striking thing about this girl is not that she is hooded as if hiding from someone, but the look of sadness and worry on her face:
Tumblr media
She tells them “no one knows I’m here,” meaning she managed to escape the heavens for a while in order to tell them, “call him by his real name. I’m sure it’ll make him happy.” Why did she bother coming in the first place? WHY would she risk getting caught, in order to come and tell them how to rescue Yato? Yato, who is a no-name god who is unknown to most people and gods alike? Who only recently has obtained a shrine and a (small) plot of land in the heavens? Who has, until recently, been known as a god of calamity? Why would she -- an important person -- come to help someone like him?
Tumblr media
Later on in the heavens arc, we see her again. She is again sad, but no one seems to notice this and are only concerned about who she is. Later, she seems to have hidden her feelings away.
But WHY is she sad? Especially since she is like this both times that we see her? Both times, she is either talking about Yato or talking to him directly. I thought about this for a while, but the only conclusion I came to was that she knows him.
IF she somehow knows him, then wouldn’t it be possible that they are actually related somehow? Oyamatsumi is stated as being the elder brother of Amaterasu (even if they don’t look similar to each other, but due to the nature of how gods come into being, they could still easily call each other siblings.)
Is she sad that she can’t treat him like a sibling?
Sad that she may get in trouble for acknowledging him as someone who used to be a part of the heavens? or sad that she might be forced to kill him, because she knows that everyone is watching her.
7. This would also imply that she knows the reason that he was originally reincarnated for. What if she’s the only person who knows?
Tumblr media
When Takemikazuchi was reincarnated, we learn that reincarnations are kept secret. (chapter 66, pg 20)
When reading through theory posts, I found that there were a few people worried that, if Yato does end up being an important god, then he would have to go back to the heavens to fulfill his “new” duties, and abandon his friends on earth (at least for a short while, and visit occasionally). Oyamatsumi is described as “important,” however Oyamatsumi doesn’t seem to be as important as Tsukukomi, (especially since I had a hard time finding any info at all on him) so if he does end up being Oyamatsumi, he might be able to do more of what he wants, even though he’d know his true identity. He might still be able to spend time with Hiyori and everyone on earth if he chose to.
(Let me know if you notice any holes or mistakes in this theory, so I can try and fix them.)

Chapter 97-1 Thoughts (Part 1)
Tumblr media
(Part 2 here)
I’m like, barely awake, it’s 8 AM, but I’ve been trying to get this done for like, 6 days now and it’s finally here.
I believe this is actually my longest chapter thoughts to date because apparently I have a lot to say (don’t I always?) so, strap in. A lot of good discussion has already taken place on Twitter that put certain aspects of the chapter - especially concerning Nora - much more succinctly than I could ever hope to put them so I will focus on the one thing I know best: Father.
Obligatory disclaimer: The goal of this post is not to excuse or “justify” Father’s actions but to explain them; my purpose here is to analyze his character in connection to other characters & themes in Noragami.
Without further ado, let’s begin.
First thing I want to start with is the cover of this particular chapter thoughts post, actually:
"Just try and save them. That's what you gods are supposed to do after all, right?"
A very biting remark indeed, and not the first time we've seen such a remark from Father. In the end pages of Chapter 64: Dear One, he says the following:
"But I'm sure [Yato] will realize his mistake before the day is out - he'll realize he can't save anyone."
I found this very intriguing for two reasons:
1.) This line was THE foundation for my so-called Projection Theory - the idea that what Father says to other characters is a reflection of his own personal experiences because he is projecting those experiences onto others - which got a canon confirmation in 96-1, with Father's comparison of himself to Yukine (top), which is actually a reflection of ANOTHER thing he said to Yukine earlier, way back in Chapter 88: Motive (bottom).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2.) Chapter 64: Dear One (note the title), in which Father says the initial "he'll realize he can't save anyone.” Chapter 64 is the chapter in which Father compares himself to Bishamon in their desire to protect something dear to them, even if it means being forsaken by the Heavens.
Tumblr media
Chapter 64 is honestly quite the double whammy for things that Father seems to talk about or refer to quite a lot when monologuing: the concept of salvation/being saved/saving and abandonment/being forsaken.
He does it when talking about Yuka and Hagusa in Chapter 89, ("why she abandoned you", "why she didn't save you"), in Chapter 76 ("abandoned by the Heavens") and indirectly in 87 ("even though all that happened, they're still praying [...] those prayers are worthless.")
When I first read the end of Chapter 64, my first thought went to "Father is saying that because he himself has been unable to save his dear one and thus, it should follow that no one is able to save anyone else." Because if Father had something he wanted to protect no matter what and if he's saying that you cannot save anyone by the end of the chapter, that means he failed to protect it, no?
But Chapter 97 adds a new dimension to that, because the connection is that the gods cannot save anyone and thus, because Yato is a god, he could not save anyone during that arc, either (in Father POV).
Obviously, this says a lot about Father's viewpoint on the gods but is it really just the gods who cannot save anyone? Can anybody truly save anybody, like I've interpreted it in Ch 64?
Is it possible - considering Father's constant monologuing about abandonment (himself being a creature abandoned by the Heavens, like he said in 76) and the act of saving/being saved - that Father not only feels bitter that his loved one could not/would not be saved, but also that he was not saved from his fate by the gods?
I could go on about this at LENGTH because there is a lot to be said but for now, I will leave it at two things:
1.) His dialogue to Hagusa about Yuka.
"It seems you've been forgotten... you'll just have to meet her and jog her memory" "abandoned" "why she didn't save you"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I'm sure you'd love to ask her what was going through her head..."
An Amaterasu theorist friend once said "Just say you want to dropkick Amaterasu and go!" in relation to this page and. Yeah, basically.
Father is canonically projecting his own experiences onto Hagusa and I recommend everyone reread the latest arc with that in mind because it opens up a whole new perspective. Father is both the perpetrator of violence but also the victim of it (at least on a systemic scale), but I’ll touch on that later.
2.) Father killing the rice god.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know a lot of people don't know what to make of this scene except "Father just went ham on a god onscreen", some people think it's because the god just proved Father wrong .5 seconds after saying "those prayers are worthless", but if you ask me, this scene stinks very strongly of "you answered their prayers, why did no one answer mine?", fueled by anger. Especially after he just got done saying those prayers are worthless, no matter how many times it happens.
This chapter (87) is also the chapter where Nora questions if Hiyori would be able to forgive the gods if Yukine was killed by a landslide or a swipe of Bishamon’s sword, saying that “Calamity bears a face in this world, too.”
Tumblr media
I’ve been blasting this Yukine page on Twitter for the last few days and like... I’m just saying, man.
Tumblr media
"They have everything, so why do I have nothing?!" "What's wrong with taking everything?"
"Why me?"
“They should all die, like I did...”
(It also calls to mind Tsuguha saying "why didn't you save me?!" as she turns into an akayashi.)
Just some food for thought.
(Continued in Part 2)

I have been trying, for the last few days ever since the news dropped, to muster up the words to speak on my feelings about Noragami ending, and I'm still struggling.
It's just...I've been following the manga monthly since spring 2015. Never fell behind, even survived the fifteen-month hiatus without losing interest. It's been something I've been into since early 2014, something I've been ill about since fall 2015, and something I think about during idle moments for every year since then. I've loved every second of following this story as it develops, and it really does feel like a chapter of my life will come to a conclusion when this series does.
That said, I know the ending will be beautiful and I'm glad to witness it in real time, and glad Adachitoka was able to take the story to its intended conclusion despite the health issues preventing them from releasing full-length chapters every month. I also think it's kind of poetic that it will end on 27 volumes, much like FMA, another very special series to me--although I got into that as it was ending/had just ended, so I didn't have quite the same experience of being up-to-date on releasing chapters.
In 2022 I got into the Locked Tomb books and they very quickly became my favorite book series, and something that occupies my thoughts to an extent rivaling Noragami. I would say that that's going to be my next Ongoing Thing That I Love (that also gives me hives and regular breakdowns), but there's only one book left so I won't have it for much longer than Noragami, although of course both will always be around for rereads.
So, all in all, I'm hoping I can find another ongoing series to get severely obsessed with after both of those come to their planned ends, because as much as I love getting into something that's already completed, there's a special kind of enthusiasm to be involved in a fandom for years. For Noragami alone I've drawn dozens of pieces of fanart, written hundreds of thousands of words of fanfiction, run multiple fandom events, started (and finished) several large-scale projects, and talked/read theories and predictions until the cows came home. I've also reread it multiple times and have found something new to love about it each time. I don't read too much manga and most of my book recs come from the rats, but I'm desperately hoping to find something that awakens this level of emotion in me on a regular basis, for years to come, because it's really just as much about the magic of an ongoing series as it is about the quality of the writing.
Until I find that series, I will have Noragami in its completed, intended form, and it won't be leaving my headspace anytime soon. And when I do find that series, I hope you will all join me in screaming over That with every new update. That's all for now but I'm sure I'll have more feelings/thoughts later down the line.

NWH plot holes that I have awkward headcanons for:
1. How did Electro know Peter was Spidey
- He had absorbed all the data from the city and must have found something that connected the two personas considering he had been thoroughly obsessed with Spiderman it wouldn't be shocking he parsed that information.
2. Why did Lizard show up as the Lizard and not as Conners?
- people didn't show up right before they died. They showed up right after they figured out who Spidey was. Osborn when he found out at the dinner, Otto near the end of his fight, Sandman when he l had a heel-face turn, Conners when he found the camera, Max when he absorbed the data and Venom already knew because he knows everything that other versions of him know so he just got zapped from the directly parallel timeline.
3. How does Peter being erased from memory even work? Isn't he still in the database? How is he studying without legal documents?
- he is still in the system. He's been erased from existing human memory right up until the spell. Anything he did prior to the spell was casted still exists. But it's a noragami style thing where he did exist and the people who interacted with him and knew him still did in fact have these interactions but it's sort of like a vague subconcious memory now. They know they interacted with someone but only vaguely. He sort of lowkey unsettles them when he meets them because they feel a sense of deja vu. His social security number etc also exist but he has to explicitly bring someone's attention to it or people will overlook it and forget it exists like with the gods and spirits in Noragami where unless they directly address the humans they are overlooked and are immediately forgotten once the human looks away. The same goes for everyone's memory of Peter pre spell, but any new meeting or document he acquires functions normally. This is just my theory till they actually explain stuff.

Ikevamp Suitors and Their Reactions to Anime/Manga
This is so random but at around 1am I was thinking about MC and Sebastian sharing their weeb culture from the future to the residents of Comte’s mansion
• Considering MC’s gadgets still have battery and she brought a powerbank, she would show the residents anime, manga, and some episodes from different shows she downloaded
• Dazai was alive during the release of the first anime so he’s the first one MC shows it to ane he is happy to see how animation is vastly improved
• Since MC downloaded a few anime series to watch offline, she and Sebastian argue on which anime Dazai should watch first but eventually settled on Bungou Stray Dogs
• Dazai gets interested and is proud of his ability in the anime because he’s basically OP
• “I like how I’m meaner to Chuuya in this show,” Dazai beams happily, “and his anger issues are very accurate to his true self.” (historically, they also did not get along and Chuuya was more aggressive)
• “160cm? Too tall,” Dazai would point out when he is informed of Chuuya’s height, “He is way shorter. 150cm at most.”
• “This is strange. Akutagawa idolizes me? Was this intentional?” (historically, Dazai was a huge fan of Akutagawa)
• Vincent finds out about what they’ve been doing and wants to join in because he’s curious about modern day art styles
• He falls in love with the anime art style and mesmerizing animation which leads to him wanting to try out digital art
• MC explains the basics and, if MC brought an apple pencil or something similar, she lets him try
• Vincent finds drawing on a screen odd at first since the screen is slippery, but he gets used to it quickly. His main preference is still a canvas, though
• Vincent also tries drawing in the anime art style because he’s never seen it before and thus finds it interesting
• He would probably enjoy lighthearted anime such as Amagi Brilliant Park, but also likes ones with darker themes. Madoka Magica’s storytelling and symbolism through their art (especially with the witches) would seem super cool to him. Their art is so unique he’d possibly take inspiration from it for his new pieces
• His brother is a sucker for romance and would probably enjoy Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama and Oregairu. Would cry while watching A Silent Voice and Plastic Memories
• Everyone would be really intrigued, especially Theo and Leonardo, because the fact that everything is hand-drawn is amazing (it takes hundreds of frames for even a few minutes of animation!)
• They also find the idea of manga really cool because telling stories through drawings and text in a unique format is completely new to them (especially Arthur, who is also an author)
• Le Comte won’t be as surprised as the other residents and he’d be more interested in the plot. Might enjoy Ouran High School Host Club because just the idea of a host club intrigues him very much
• Leonardo would most-likely enjoy anything and is open-minded about various genres, but I think he’d be most curious about the REALLY strange ones such as Kakegurui and Hetalia.
• “Teenagers gambling? Personifications of countries? That’s so interesting wdym”
• Eventually the Japanese trio talk about anime often
• When Arthur overhears them talking about a famous detective show (Detective Conan) that was not Sherlock Holmes, he becomes intrigued
• “900 episodes and still on-going!?” Arthur might exclaim, but MC and Sebastian assure him that a lot of people catch up on the show easily because they’ve been watching it since childhood
• Arthur finds out that Conan’s name was inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle and he’s very touched that there are people who acknowledge him as an author and not just as the man behind Sherlock Holmes
• He’d also enjoy Danganronpa and really likes the murder cases, especially the ones at the 5th chapter (from personal experience they’re confusing af)
• Your Lie In April? Mozart overhears them talking about it and becomes interested. He doesn’t know some of the composers they mention since they didn’t exist in his time so he’s curious to hear their pieces
• Kaori being a rebel and changing up the pieces? Kousei’s trauma and Kaori’s death? Mozart won’t admit it but he absolutely loves the show’s emotional aspects and how accurate the music playing is
• After seeing Arthur and Mozart’s reactions, he secretly wants to know their tastes and how they’ll comment on anime incorporating their fields of expertise
• Isaac would probably enjoy Steins Gate because they discuss about various time travel theories such as black hole, wormhole, and light speed. He’s also an astronomer, so he’ll be really excited about the newer stuff he’s unfamiliar with (such as Einstein’s relativity). He’d probably do research on them afterwards
• Napoleon would enjoy anime with a lot of action, such as Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and even Assassination Classroom (since he teaches in his spare time, would probably cry at the ending). However, he also enjoys cooking, so he’d definitely enjoy Shokugeki No Soma since they come up with such unique takes on dishes (the foodgasms amuse him very much)
• Jean would probably enjoy anime centered on religion, such as A Certain Magical Index or even Noragami (though it’s mainly about Shintoism)
• Shakespeare would enjoy anime with tragic endings, no doubt. Clannad, Elfen Lied, Grave of The Fireflies, you name it. He’d also like Another and Blood-C because there is so much gore and he loves it
• Sebastian wanted to show them yaoi at some point for his “research” but MC had to stop him
• “I think we’ve shown them enough anime,” MC would say, however Sebastian assures her it’ll be completely alright
• “What should we show them next?”
• MC pondered on this, but ultimately she thought of something wicked yet extremely entertaining
• “Sebastian! They’re vampires, remember?”
• “Yes, of course I do.”
• “Why not show them Vampire Knight? It’s a middle school throwback!”
• “That’s... a great idea. Let us proceed immediately.”
• It would be an understatement to say that the residents of the mansion are baffled as to why people in the 21st century would enjoy such things
• Arthur isn’t complaining though
• Sebastian speaks up, “okay, now we will show you a very special genre, yao—“
• “SEBASTIAN, NO”
thanks for reading my strange headcanon even though it’s super messy and makes no sense

How Yukine’s box closes and the upcoming Daddiest Heaven’s Arc
I must be the only one not currently into the Yukine’s past arc. Perhaps it’s because it kinds of happened before. I guess I have to re-read to catch on the emotional cue as to how he was driven to betray Yato. The whole “why don’t you trust me as a Shinki” thing. Of course Father, or to borrow the fandom’s terminology, Trash Dad™, manipulated the poor child into betraying Yato but the child also has heard about Trash Dad and what he had done to Yato, has he not? I know, I know, he’s an abused and manipulated child, and we literally cannot count on children all that much to know and do the logical thing. And that’s on Yato too for not... just communicate, man. Ahh, they’re all survivors of parental abuse--Yato, Yukine, Hiiro--displaying severe symptoms of trauma most particularly their inability to healthily and clearly communicate. I know, I know, I just get upset following this arc, because I know the tension is high for a reason but the narrative is a little trope-y with the whole “Main Character’s Precious Fluff Turned Evil Plotline™” I can’t remember where I have seen it but every time it happens I do not like it. The taunting of “ooh its me but I’m bad now I’m so much better without you” while main character has to beg them to remember what they share. I truly wish there was a way to advance the plot without having to go this route because it was foreseeable, at least for me.
I have not a single evidence about how it’s gonna be resolved, but this is my guess based on years of reading tropy shonen manga: the power of love, trust, and friendship (+perhaps other gods, probably Bishamon who just woke up, because of her tie to Kazuma, and Nana who recently was reminded that Bishamon is her benefactor) will lead to team Yato’s winning Yukine back. The God’s end-of-year Cleansing Party will coincide with this battle and Trash Dad will lose to Yato (or collective effort with the presence of other gods). In this process he will let known other information about his past and why he hated the Heaven so much. This information will implicate Yato or compromise his position, forcing him to be torn between the Father whom he wants to get away from but is still tied emotionally and the Heaven whom he knows is not just. Basically choosing between the lesser evil. It might make him wanting to renounce godhood. But Heaven will swoop in and take Trash dad away like they always do without letting Yato processing this information or learning more from him, and thus we will enter a new arc where the speed and stake are both heightened: who runs Heaven and how Heaven’s ancient wars (including the purging of Arahabaki) relates to the emergence of Trash Dad--how he came to be in relation to the loss of his loved one. The narrative point will move to explore those conflicts, and Yato might be forced to go against the heaven one more time to get to his dad (to rescue or access or otherwise) in order to find out the truth. Meanwhile the Gods™ crew finding out Ebisu’s old documents will come up with something related to this past. I’m guessing the underlying plot of heaven will be about the order of things, how the system of Shinki and Ayakashi are created or developed, to loop back into the brush that they stole from Izanami that Ebisu was obsessed over 2 arcs ago. This is just out of my ass and based on no indication whatsoever from the manga, but I’m gonna say that Heaven’s deep dark secret is that it could literally save all human soul after they die but they let Ayakashi run rampant so that Gods have something to do and Shinki can be created to kill Ayakashi. Hence their need to execute Ebisu on the spot without needing further investigation about what he was trying to get from Izanami. Because they K N O W the only thing that could be taken from there--a way to control Ayakashi. In Noragami’s world, since it draws from Shinto, hellish stuff doesn’t exist and it seems like the scariest thing is just a bundle of Ayakashi that is at best 5 slices away. So what other drama can it be, right? Trash Dad is trash but he by no means will be the last villain of the series based on the way he is portrayed. At this point, we kind of have to align with his view about how Heaven conducts things--based on the two events of Ebisu’s execution and the battle with Bishamon. Damn, talking about having no due processes.  A lot of people have theorized about Amaterasu being forced to reincarnate to carry out Heaven's will. My (mostly trollish) brain comes to a theory of another Trash Dad, the most trash of all what which is none other than Izanagi who has something to do with whatever bullshit is happening in Heaven.
- First, it’s because Trash Dad and Child abuse seems to be having its moment and everywhere we look there’s a trash dad, and everywhere we turn there’s a kid being abused so why not go all the way. If Her Highness Amaterasu also has a trash dad who are we to demand better.
- Second, since Izanami has been introduced, Izanagi has to show up and in one of the tales about them he legit locked her in Yomi after seeing her decomposing body. The tale went something like this:
Izanami passed away after birthing a bunch gods, and went into Yomi. Izanagi followed her but couldn't rescue because she already ate Yomi’s food. She pleaded with the gods but the waiting process was long, and Izanagi couldn’t fucking wait despite being instructed to do so. He charged in to see that she was a decomposed body and peaced the fuck out, leaving a large stone right at the gate of Yomi after escaping. After fleeing from Yomi, that’s when Izanagi created Amaterasu, Tsukiyomi, Susanoo, and Shina-tsu-hiko.
Husband of the year Izanagi is not--so I’m guessing our authors will do something with this tale concerning the brushes or Izanami’s ability to create Ayakashi (to be her friends since her husband sucks) versus Izanagi’s ability to create gods.
- Lastly, the first child of Izanami and Izanagi was said to be Ebisu. They were doing a marriage ritual and fucked it up, with Izanami speaking first and thus the child being born is deformed they put it out on a basket and let it float in the sea. Since this detail was mentioned in the manga to a certain extent, I’m guessing we’ll meet the father, esp when Ebisu made it a point to come see mommy and borrow her creation. In a way he’s defying father’s rules (if we’re going with the theme of Trash Dad’s power trips) to create a world after his ideals rather than traditions. And since Ebisu has such an emotional punch (even tho he was there for a whooping few chapters) and played the greatest role in inspiring Yato to go against his own Trash dad, I assume that this character building means something.
OK I was only gonna complain a lil bit about this arc but here I am 2 hours later full into theorizing mode. Hello, I just started watching Noragami anime 3 days ago and now I have finished everything there is and read all the blogs and probably all the theories. I have the last question that I wanna ask: How the fuck did Yato’s Trash Dad get to Heaven in the Heaven Treason Arc??? If he’s not a god or not having a shrine, how did he get there, or did I miss something??
