meandering thoughts (reflective style)
with my life seeming to settle a little bit (knock on wood) my brain returns to its favorite dilemma: relationships! how confusing they are for me! how i get crushes all the time on everyone and am too scared of alienating people important to me to do anything about them! operation "just be cool and hot and hope people are attracted to you" does not seem to be working, despite the fact i am both cooler and hotter than ever. i have always given off an unconscious air of "don't interact with me" that I think makes this difficult for people. (probably because I largely don't want most people to interact with me, and because I'm autistic and can't figure out social cues, and because even casual touch with people outside of a very small bubble activates like seventeen goblins in my brain!)
i talked to my therapist about these feelings last week and we're probably going to focus on them moving forward. this was really the year where i realized that the depths of the damage done to me growing up were much deeper than I thought. it's difficult to acknowledge that! it's hard to really look in the eye how much work I still have to do even now.
I've been reading about relationship anarchy and finding it appealing. the trouble of course comes in the practice. my therapist, who's trans and poly and is someone I trust to have good takes on these things, said something like ... "you can just ask the people you want to be closer to if they're interested in exploring a possible deeper intimacy." im both fascinated and terrified by this. sure i can just ask. what if i get told no? ive been told no so many times. it does a number on your self confidence! what if it makes this person who is important to me uncomfortable? what if it pushes them away from me? it's happened before! i can't risk losing what I have!
i suspect the fact my support network is almost entirely friends makes this much more frightening; without the kind of anchor relationship most people i know have in the form of immediate family, expressing interest in changing the relationships i do have kind of feels like fucking around in my operating system's files without a backup. it's sort of funny to be okay with the mortifying ordeal of being known, but being too afraid to even get to it.
relationship anarchy says, do away with preconceived notions of what a relationship "should" look like. kick out the fences and define new borders. fuck your friends and live domestically with your platonic life partner, if you want. this fascinates me. it's something I've been writing into many of my characters' relationships for some time now, without having a name for it. do i want a traditional partner? part of me thinks I do, but maybe that's just a lifetime of social conditioning. what would be the most fulfilling for me? i don't know. it seems like something you can probably only figure out with experience, and right now that's my problem.
i was raised by people who wanted me to "court" instead of date. (My therapist made a terrible face and said oh I hate that for you when I told him this.) i was raised by people who definitely would have tried to get me to read "i kissed dating goodbye" if i had done anything other than have a crush on a gay boy all through high school. I still talk to that guy all the time, crush free even, and he's in a great relationship with another man now. their relationship is strictly romantic; the partner fulfills his sexual needs with other people. i thought that was so cool when I first heard about it. I think it was the first time someone I knew personally demonstrated a functioning, nontraditional relationship. Others have followed. I'm so happy for them! I watch, fascinated, from behind the iron wall I've built for myself while "Hello My Old Heart" plays in the background.
it's Christmas as I write this, and I've got no plans. a few people have checked in on me, because I'm always alone at this time of year. (honestly, the checking in kind of makes it worse. "hey I'm celebrating with my loved ones and I know you aren't, how are you?") that's another complicated topic, but it's been a little easier this year. it's probably to do with both time and the fact that my adhd is being managed for the first time ever; it's common to have increased emotional regularity when that happens. I'm lonely, but I'm used to it, and things will go back to normal soon. It would be nice to have someone to spend it with. i don't know if it's in the cards for me. maybe next year.
I worry sometimes that I sabotage myself. Oh, I'm into this person, but they're in a relationship, or they're straight, or they're ace, or they live far away, or I work with them (as if any of those things are a hard limiter in all cases). I can find any excuse not to express my interest in someone. It's something I'm working with my therapist on.
As morose as this post is, I'm okay. today I'll mess around with my server project and go feed my friend's pets while he's away. I'll spend a lot of time thinking about this and distill my feelings down into something I can overlay onto a character; i see myself most clearly when I do it through a mask. I've got things to cook and a fridge to clean and an indoor bike to ride. There are people who care about me and it's important I try to remember that.
uh, happy holidays! i promise i am okay enough. please don't make me think about it any deeper than that. I really truly hope you have a good one.

my ADHD as an adult woman
so I went to a psychologist finally at 28 expecting an anxiety/depression diagnosis, and within about 2 minutes of me talking, the doc interrupted me and said “has anyone ever talked to you about an ADHD diagnosis?”
since being diagnosed and getting put on meds, I have become more aware of the approximately 1,000 very ADHD things I do daily. I have also had probably 10-15 people I know say either “oh yeah, that makes sense, I always figured you had ADHD” or “oh yeah, I was diagnosed a few years ago as well, I figured that’s why we got along so well”. so apparently I was the last to know.
anyways, here are some of my personal symptoms, for whomever this might interest. I have a lot of masking/coping mechanisms, so there are huge parts of ADHD meme culture I can’t relate to (e.g. I never lose things because I am borderline obsessive with organization, I’m never late because I’m always 45 minutes early instead), but a lot of these are common.
talking a lot, talking all the time, talking in every direction. see how I write. see the number of parentheses I use. see how I exceed the word limit on assignments, every time, all the time.
“conflating emotion and time”. time blindness is talked about a lot, and I’ve definitely got it in spades, but I came across this phrase and found it very resonant. I’m all feeling and no context. the question “what did you do last weekend?” is my nightmare.
high pain tolerance/lack of sensitivity to sensation. I’ve always been able to withstand physical pain and discomfort quite easily - tattoos, piercings, walking barefoot on gravel, waxing, the list goes on. but I also have this thing where I can notice I need to pee, and then not get up from my chair for 5 hours. or notice it’s time for me to eat, but I’ll just ignore it (assuming I’m not close to passing out or throwing up from low blood sugar). I drink a lot of water and my friends joke I’m like a camel because I’ll still just pee like twice a day. these sensations are very muted and just honestly not that important.
can’t use the drawers in the fridge because once I can’t see the food it ceases to exist. same with cupboards that are hard to reach, “secret” pockets in purses or bags, basically anything I don’t have a ritual of checking every day. I’m very intentional when putting things away. I have a system. it’s a fucking stupid, inefficient, idiosyncratic system, and it’s extremely rigid. I do not deviate from the script. if the chapstick goes in the front right pocket instead of the front left, all is anarchy, all is lost.
wordplay, music, or some media fixation going in my head 24/7 as background. during conversations, I will literally be doing anagrams, spelling challenges and wordplay based on what people are saying while I listen to them - it’s the only way I can stay engaged. I memorize lyrics to songs obsessively, and I will also skip around my personal jukebox based on keywords from the conversation.
I check and respond to emails and texts immediately after receiving them. I just have to do it this way or I begin to hate and resent the messages, and by extension, my friends. so I am the most responsive person in the world. sorry.

hate socks
like to eat, hate the fact I have to eat every day
have to touch every texture while shopping, especially clothes shopping. my sister jokes by the time we’ve left I’ve touched everything in the store. (yeah, ideally)
never fully unpack my bag while traveling because the idea of spreading out too much and having my things in too many places stresses me out - it would be too easy to lose something or leave it behind. I go through rooms/houses/bus seats methodically before leaving them, several times, and have to pat my phone in my pocket 3-4 times before I believe I have it with me.
literally forget that types of weather exist until they reoccur. first cold day of the year I’ll be shivering in a cardigan and then remember “oh yeah, jackets exist” because they are in my coat closet I haven’t opened in 3 months so I forgot about them (not only forgetting the ones I own, but the literal concept of jackets). on the plus side, I am constantly delighted to rediscover the cute umbrella that I have owned for 6 years.
so physically clumsy. just slamming into every doorway, every counter, shattering every glass, covered in mystery paper cuts and bruises, constantly literally beating myself up and then figuratively beating myself up for being an oaf.
feeling like a burden, feeling like a fuck-up, over-explaining myself, desperately trying to find some explanation for why I’m so “lazy” when I actually care more about some things than anyone would ever dream
leaving every gathering like “god, I am such an overbearing moron, why can’t I just stop interrupting people and shut up for once” and then talking to someone and getting excited and thinking of a joke and shouting it out and let’s do the time warp again!
okay, I literally have to cut myself off or I will write for hours. overall, I like my brain. it’s a noisy place, but it’s taken care of me the best it can for the last 28 years. I just can’t believe that the place I spend so much time in had this dimension to it (ADHD) that I never knew. and having a name for it and a community of fellow neurodiverse people has made more of a difference to me than I ever would have guessed it would.

No your completely right, I've blocked tons of people on the threads about the school shootings because they're pro-guns. Just like I've blocked pro-life people. You can't throw a knife through glass or a door and it be able to break through, those are much rarer situations, the USA has the most school-shootings of any country to no ones shock. No not as many children would be in their fucking grave if there was a gun ban, and pro-gun people think otherwise. The USA is a horrible representation of all of America and we should stop referring to the USA as America, because some countries have the decency to protect the children. To put it simply, I hate the government currently, I hate how people are letting this happen, the USA is screwed if it continues existing as it is now.
completely understand and this is going to be a long reply/ramble.
After every shooting the GOP comes out and says that gun control doesn’t work because people will just disobey the law. So, then what is the point of the law? Of any law? That’s anarchy and the purge they’re talking about.
The closest my schools had to tragedy was a bestfriend of mine in elementary school bringing his dads gun and showing me at the beginning of class; plus, a student who during a school dance allegedly had a knife and was “poking” other students with it. No one was killed from the knife even though allegedly a lot of kids were “poked” with it.
Like I have no problem if people are pro-gun or pro-life because the meanings behind those terms are deeper than the amplified minority. Such as Pro-gun is supporting background checks and gun control/gun legislation. Pro-life is supporting wage increases, pro-choice, funding educational programs and food programs, and funding pregnancy help centers. 
It’s when those people are the amplified minority I have a problem with it. Such as the “Well no gun zones don’t work.” They do. 
If you break that rule then you get punished for risking the safety of others and ignoring a private request. Those detour/attempt to prevent and ensure that anyone can be charged. By prevention I mean, a school fight breaks out on the bleachers during a game and someone brandishes a gun that injures another. Yes, some people may break the no gun rule; but, it is less likely to happen because people know it is against the law, and most people don’t want to go to jail.
Now say an accomplish to a shooter isn’t directly charged with manslaughter. They can still be charged for risking public safety by ignoring the no gun zone. However, in terms of schools no gun zone they are more directly known for outsiders. Such as parents or visitors who may be a risk because students already know they aren’t allowed to bring guns to school. Again, it is also to ensure charges can be pressed. 
Knives are also much different than a gun. In order to hurt someone you have to be at a close distance. Those who are planning mass harm will opt for the gun as they can kill multiple people in seconds compared to a knife that is harder. With a gun no one really knows where you are or who you are because of the mass panic. With a knife it is more likely you will be killed, identified or stopped before really doing anything as serious.
 Which makes gun bans a big idea and a scary one to gun owners. In that field I do agree with banning the AR-15 and other original military weapons. For the sole reason that the gun has been promoted by a terrorist group as being one of the best mass causality guns because of how many bullets can be fired and how many people can be killed in such a short distance. Handguns do make up a majority of the shootings in America because of how affordable and accessible they are. You can carry them in a purse. 
It has always been clear that the Republican party would not care enough to protect the citizens. The houses had covid relief bills on the floor for frontline workers and they passed gun legislation instead of funding hospitals in 2020. From what I see is they’re just protecting their wallets and its not just the Republican officials faults. They’re trying to implement curtains instead of solutions to the problem. Arming teachers isn’t a solution, having volunteer guards isn’t a solution, constantly talking about mental health crisis and then not funding or fixing the system is not a solution. They aren’t man enough to step up and do their jobs because they’re killing their voters and base with these laws.
They’re protecting their wallets but it isn’t only the Republican officials who are at fault. The people who continuously vote for the same officials who refuse to prevent this are also at fault.
 People want this fixed but it never will be if the same officials keep getting voted back in.

Kriegsmesser

When I received Kriegsmesser in the mail I finally googled "kriegsmesser", and found out it meant "war knife". Which makes sense; Gregor Vuga's ZineQuest 2021 project is a tribute to "roleplaying games named after medieval weapons".
I love Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's piss-renaissance Old World setting. I tend to pick up WFRP-a-likes sight unseen:
Warlock (quality);
Small But Vicious Dog (yesss);
Zweihander (which I have come to hate); etc.
Anyway: I backed Kriegsmesser without really knowing anything about it. So Kriegsmesser surprised me.

Kriegsmesser grew out of a Troika! cutting. Its 36 backgrounds are compatible with that system: each come with a couple of lines of description; a list of skills and possessions; an a visual cameo cropped from actual 16th-Century woodcut art.

Cohesive and competently flavourful. My favourite is the Labourer, who always starts with "an empty pine box":
"You've spent your life breaking your back, working hard for other people's profit. You have nothing to show for it but a spectre of the future."
(The obligatory ratcatcher-analogue , called the Vermin Snatcher, is here -- check that box!)

Kriegsmesser also comes with its own ruleset. Hits all the notes it needs to, with lots of orientation and advice for how to run a game -- but ultimately super-simple, mechanically:
Roll d6s equal to the value in a relevant skill, look at the highest result. 6 means you get what you want; 5 or 4 means you get what you want, at a cost.
It's not quite a dice pool, since only the highest result matters. No opposed tests.

Kriegsmesser intends to have this base mechanic handle fights, too. The combat rules - with armour, toughness and weapon values -- are nested in an optional section.
For a WFRP-a-like, this feels like a purposeful departure.
Many of WFRP's most celebrated adventures are celebrated for bits that their underlying ruleset does little to support: the investigative structure of "Shadows Over Bogenhafen"; the complicated timetable of "Rough Night At Three Feathers".

Ludwig von Wittgenstein never needed a statblock to be memorable.
Not to say that lethal, hyper-detailed fights isn't super Warhammer-y. (Kriegsmesser includes an injury table, broken down by body-part -- check that box!)
But here it feels like Gregor is saying: "I'm not Games Workshop and Roleplay isn't an ancillary of Warhammer Fantasy Battle; we can evoke grim-and-perilous-ness even if we fork away from heavy combat rules."

It has become ritual for me to read my partner Sharon to sleep.
Sometimes I read her RPG things. The other night, after I read her Kriegsmesser's introduction --
" The Empire wages an eternal war against Chaos. Its priests preach of Chaos as an intrusion, something unnatural ... These men see Chaos in anything that does not buttress their rule. They call it disorder, anarchy, corruption. They say that to rebel against their order is to rebel against god and nature. That the current arrangement is natural, rather than artificial.
" Meanwhile, the common people look to the Empire to deliver the justice that they were promised and they find none. They look to the Empire and do not see themselves reflected in it. They look around at what they were taught was right and good and see only misery.
" Their world begins to unravel. Chaos comes to reside in every heart and mind sound enough to look at the world and conclude it is broken. "
-- Sharon remarked: "Nice one."
The RPG things I read her generally leave Sharon lukewarm. She has enjoyed a couple -- but, yeah: for many of these books, text isn't their strong point.
Kriegsmesser is the only time I can recall Sharon praising the writing of an RPG book without my prompting.

That introduction surprised me. It underlines Kriegsmesser's biggest departure from its WFRP-a-like pedigree: how it characterises Chaos.
Corruption, a mainstay of most grim-dark-y games, is made an optional rule, like combat. Explaining this, Gregor writes:
" Kriegsmesser partially subverts or deconstructs the traditional conceit of Warhammer where the characters are threatened by the forces of Chaos. In this game it is the player characters who are the agents of 'Chaos': they are likely to become the 'rats' under the streets, and the wild 'beast-men' in the woods bringing civilisation down. It's the Empire and its nobles and priests that are corrupt ... "
Describing the Empire, Gregor writes:
" The Empire encompasses the world yet is terrified of the without. It enforces itself with steel and fire yet considers itself benevolent. It consumes the labour of others with bottomless hunger yet calls its subalterns lazy, or wasteful, or greedy. "
Holy shit this is the first time I've seen the word "subaltern" in an RPG thing, I think?

Rant incoming:
With every passing decade Warhammer abridges its Moorcockian roots more and more; nowadays it is "Order = Good" and "Chaos = Evulz", pretty much.
Gone are the days when chaos berserkers are implied to grant safe passage to the helpless (because Khorne is as much a god of martial honour as he is a god of bloodletting); Or that the succor of Papa Nurgle is a genuine comfort to the downtrodden; Or that Tzeentch could unironically embody the principle of hope, of change for the better.
As Chaos is distilled into unequivocal villainy, Order goons get painted as Good Guys by default --
Giving rise to Warhammer's contemporary problem, wherein fans are no longer able to recognise satire.

When I was introduced to 40K, it seemed pretty clear that the Imperium was a Brazil-esque absurdist-fascist bureaucratic state: planets are exterminatus-ed due to clerical error; the way it stamps out rebellions is the reason why rebellions begin in the first place.
Tragi-comic grimdarkness. That was the point.
Nowadays that tone has shifted -- and you're more likely than not going to encounter a 40K fan who argues that the Imperium's evils are a justified necessity, to prevent worse wrongs.
We went from:
"Space Nazis because insane dumbass fuckery, also chainswords vroom vroom rule of badass!"
To:
"Space Nazis because it makes sense actually, and also chainswords make sense because [insert convoluted rationalisation here]."

Even Fantasy Flight's Black Crusade line, which ostensibly offers a look at 40K from the perspective of Chaos, never truly commits to its conceit.
With prep you could play a heroic band of mutant freedom fighters, resisting the tyranny of the Evil Imperium --
But I don't remember Black Crusade giving that kind of campaign any actual support. Its supplements service the relatively more conventional "You can play villains!" angle; the Screaming Vortex is a squarely Daemons-vs-Daemons setting.

This tonal drift culminates, in my mind, with Age of Sigmar, Games Workshop's heroic-fantasy replacement of the old WFRP / WHFB setting.
Here's the framing narrative for AoS's recently-launched Third Edition. Let's see whether I've got things right:
A highly professionalised, technologically-superior tip-of-the-spear fighting force (the Stormcast Eternals);
Backed by an imperialist military-industrial complex (Azyrheim);
"Liberating" rich new territories (Ghur) for exploitation by a civilised settler culture (Settlers of Sig-- I mean, Free Cities);
Justified because the locals are irredeemable heathens (Chaos and Kruleboyz).
I mean, that's a sweet-ass Warhammer setting. It's contemporary, laser-guided lampoon. Except it is played totally straight.

In AoS, a literal crusade is justified as the moral good.

I think Kriegsmesser surprised me because its framing of Chaos -- as a promise, as the light of hope shining through cracks of a broken world --
It feels so fucking right.
Yes: its a subaltern deconstruction of the conventional moral universe of Warhammer -- but it is a take that is also already implied / all but supported in the various depictions of the setting: from WFRP to the modified title-crawl of Black Crusade.
I'm annoyed I didn't think of it, myself. Damn you, Gregor!
And I'm annoyed that more Warhammer fans aren't thinking it, also.

lmagine if Kriegsmesser's perspective stood on equal standing as the GW orthodoxy. Imagine if, instead of simplifying stuff into "Order = Good" and "Chaos = Evulz", GW did a Gregor Vuga.
You'd have a Rashomon-ed Warhammer, where villainy depends on perspective:
You are fearful villagers, huddled around your priest, muttering prayers against the wild braying coming from the trees beyond your gates.
You are Aqshyian tribeswomen, defying the thunder warrior towering over you, the foreigner demanding you bow to his foreign god.
You are a Tzeentchian revolutionary cell, desperately trying to disrupt a Inquisitor's transmissions so your home planet isn't destroyed by fascist orbital fire.

Album Review: From Filth And Dust - Lilith Czar
First of all, I'd like to say that this album completely blew me away. From Filth And Dust perfectly showcases Lilith's (formerly known as Juliet Simms) vocal abilities and songwriting skills. The lyrics are meaningful, witty, and raw with emotion. The vocals are clean with just the right amount of grit and pair beautifully with the instrumentals. The album tells the story of a woman who has been through hell and back, who has fought battles both external and internal. The sound is pure rock n' roll. It's not a passive album. You can't help but sing along, experiencing all the emotions the songs pack in.
The album cover, music videos, name change, and new look all work perfectly to create a stand-out album in Czar's discography.
Song Breakdown
Intro Poem: I'm a huge fan of albums with intro tracks. I think if done correctly they can really add a lot to an album and set the tone. I really liked this intro, the transition into Feed My Chaos is phenomenal. It does a good job introducing Lilith and the overarching thems of the album.
Feed My Chaos: Easily one of my favorites on the album, this song is, for lack of better words, badass. One of the heavier tracks, it's loud and in your face with hypnotizing vocals. I think this was the perfect full-length track to start the album off with.
King: The message of this song is exactly what the world needs. The lyrics are powerful and meant to ruffle the feathers of any man who thinks women should shut up and stay in their place. The first time I heard this song I remember thinking "wow, that's exactly how I feel". I hate that we live in a world that is male-dominated, where there is an innate privilege in existing in a body that is seen as "male". If that's the way the world is, then I'm not okay just being a "queen" still subservient to a man. I want to be king, equal power, and equal respect. This song perfectly captures that feeling.
Anarchy: Another one of my favorites, I'm a big fan of political songs and messages in rock. The beat of this song and vocals are top-notch. After the past four years of political insanity and the deliberateness in which the rights of oppressed communities were targeted, this song is cathartic. The end of the song really puts the exclamation point on this track; shots, sirens, and a man's voice over a loudspeaker can be heard in the background. It made me think back to last Summer and the volatile state the country was in. Very nice touch to the song.
100 Little Deaths: Another strong rock track, this is a song easily chanted from the top of your lungs driving down the highway. The message of overcoming your personal struggles is an inspiring one. I also think its placement before the next song, 'Lola' was a great choice. The messages flow together quite well and I like the dichotomy of such a hyped-up song being followed by a slower emotional one.
Lola: This song has grown on me a lot, and I really like it. There is raw emotion in Czar's voice which easily takes center place in this track. It'll have you on the brink of tears but also ready to rise up and sing your heart out. Anyone who's ever hit rock bottom and had to fight to find themself again can relate. The is one of the most open tracks on the album and I think that's what makes it so impactful. One of my favorite lyrics from the album is in this song "Time flies by when you're 25 n' about to die"
Edge of Seventeen: Stevie Nick's fan or not, I think everyone has heard this song. There's a risk that comes with covering an iconic and beloved song, and it really paid off for Czar. This is an amazing cover, her voice fits this song very well.
Bad Love: Another one of my favorites, this song is a masterpiece. It's sultry, exciting, and catchy as fuck. The song speeds up on the chorus and then slows back down for the verses; a rollercoaster that you'll have on repeat for days.
In My Head: When this song started I thought "I'm either going to really, really like this song or hate it". It did not disappoint at all. Clearly a song about fighting the demons in well... "in my head". As someone who struggles with mental health and my own thoughts this song hits home. Lyrically this is probably my favorite song as well, I mean "It gets me off like nothing else, no one fucks me like myself" come on, that's just a fucking cool line.
Unholy: Fuck... I love this song. When I saw the title for this track I had really high expectations because I love rock songs that use religious symbolism with just the right amount of blasphemy. This song gave me everything I wanted from it. I've had it on repeat all day. It's a tie between this song and the next for my #1 favorite on the album.
Burn With Me: This song reminds me of Automatic Love Letter (her old band). I love the sound of this song and the lyrics. This is my type of love song for sure. You can't help but dance around the room while singing along. Czar shows off her vocal abilities and control over her voice, hitting notes that make you go "damn- how the fuck did she do that?!?!".
Diamonds to Dust: The perfect closing song, a slower acoustic track that sums the album up and leaves you wanting more. You can literally hear the emotions in Czar's voice, and like Lola, it's a very raw track. Amazingly well done.
I rarely find albums in which I like all of the songs, but this is one of them. None of the songs feel rushed or unfinished, incredibly well done. Anyone who's written Lilith off before should honestly give this album a listen and let it speak for itself. She's an incredibly talented singer, songwriter, and musician and this album is proof of that. I've unfairly judged her and her music in the past, and I'm so glad I decided to give her and her music another chance. I believe in the message of this album and women supporting women. I can honestly say that I love this album and I highly recommend it.

Regarding canon!Techon, VoS!Techno, and anarchy
Someone told me the way Techno’s anarchy ideals were presented in Chapter 34 of Valley of Serenity (wherein he admitted “I can want anarchy to be the predominant reality because it benefits me the most while also understanding that it would not be the best thing for most other people”) were, to quote - “All wrong here. Have you watched any of the syndicate streams? Cuz its clear techno actually believes in anarchy and that it's good for people. I understand he's missing some of the development from post pogtopia to the syndicate due to this being canon divergent, but that doesn't change the fact he's always actually believed in his anarchist ideals.”
Now, while I hadn’t considered this specifically before writing the chapter, I had considered enough of the factors surrounding Techno’s characterization in both canon and Valley of Serenity to respond with this:
Ironically, Techno's lore streams are the only ones that I've consistently watched. He's literally the only person where I've watched every bit of lore he's streamed.
And I came to this mindset for Techno in this fic specifically because I believe the events after Nov 16 in canon, of the Butcher Army, the Community House debacle with Tommy betraying him, and Doomsday were huge influences in how much he believes in the good of anarchy for the common person. Remember, he was willing to retire and let go of the whole anarchy thing to live in peace for a while, after seeing the disaster that was Nov 16th. It's only after S2 he starts gathering up people to form the Syndicate, committing fully to his ideology. Before he was content to chill in the Arctic with Phil.
With this background I have three points of contention to make-
Firstly, something I've always found interesting about Techno's character is how his anarchy thing might clash with the people he cares about. More specifically, I always wondered "if Techno was forced to choose between upholding anarchy and Phil, who or what would he choose?" Post Season 2 Techno I'm unsure of, but given the limited amount of lore from Season 1 about Techno I'm going off of to build his character, I'm writing his character arc in this fic to be him coming to the realization that he cares more about his family's wellbeing more than he does anarchy or upholding his whole blood god thing. It's a realization that Techno would have needed to spend months with his family again, living with them, to make and have him commit to. Techno back in Nov 16 would have been unsure what he would have picked.
Secondly, we don't have confirmation about where Techno got his anarchist ideals from, which is important because motivation is important. We know at this point in canon he strongly believes in them for real, but we're not given backstory on why that it. There's hints and theories, some of which are far more plausible than others - I've chosen to set the root of his anarchy belief in what he says in this chapter - governments are the only ones strong enough to take him down as an organized group of power. Governments have tried to take him down and nearly succeeded - that's what the Butcher Army was. That event was what brought him out of retirement to turn L'Manberg into L'Hole. And Techno in canon is reinforced in the belief that anarchy's best for everyone because of what it did to Phil and Tommy. He sees how both of them were hurt by L'Manberg's system of power, something that once again Techno in this fic didn't experience. We don't know what's happened in his backstory to make him stand on his anarchy thing, but that also means we don't know how easily Pogtopia Techno would have been convinced to give up on it. He believes it, but why and how much? I've made my choice of interpretation in this fic precisely because we don't know, and his canon decision to go into retirement was what influenced my writing here. I genuinely believe if L'Manberg hadn't attacked in, but instead turned out to be a functioning government like they could have been, his anarchy spiel about bad government is for at least other people, if not himself, would have subsided. But that's not the sort of plot that runs a livestream, is it?
Thirdly - and this ties into point 2 - probably at some point in canon Techno's past government has wronged him and he's seen government repeatedly wrong other people, hence his beliefs that again, the Butcher Army and New L'Manberg under Tubbo only strengthened when it had the chance to subside them. You could even draw allusions back to his skyblock series and take the quote "If skyblock has told me anything, it is that if you have a problem, the answer is slavery" to mean that he's seen the governmentally structured system of skyblock drag its players into an endless, pointless competing grind whilst also committing mass slave-related atrocities, which would be one of the more plausible backstories for Techno and explain where his anarchy ideals might have developed. But we're still operating canon Techno under the rules of the Dream SMP, and the Dream SMP's world is very much not the world presented in Valley of Serenity.
See, my decision - very conscious, deliberate, developed decision - to worldbuild Valley of Serenity in a way that's more akin to a fantasy world in the midst of their equivalent of the Age of Exploration instead of modeling it off how the Dream SMP worlds has definitely also influenced the way I plan the character developments in this fic. Valley of Serenity's world has nations, economies, established ethnic groups and populations and cultures and systems and thousands of years worth of history. L'Manberg started out as a city-state with some surrounding farmland area that had its own history and a decently sized population before Wilbur got there. The Dream SMP canon, meanwhile, has none of that established. You could argue there were civilians on the sideline that just aren't named, or that the Twitch viewers are just civilian in this world because Wilbur did the whole election thing (something that becomes increasingly unlikely each time a new streamer canonizes their stream chat as something that is decidedly not a country's population), but there's no canonical establishment for any of that. I don't think there is any hidden population of nameless background people in the DSMP lore. The lore makes far more sense without it, even with all the "political" drama. It would explain how people keep forming and abandoning and destroying new countries every other week and just.. getting away with it, and how Dream is able to spend so much time obsessing over one child in exile if he really has a country he's supposed to be the shadowmaster of, and how the whole clusterfuck of the Quackity Karl Sapnap marriage is even possible.
In a world like that, it's plausible for Techno's anarchy to be defensible to him, and to the other members of the Syndicate. However, in Valley of Serenity's world, his anarchy view makes absolutely zero sense, given how government is basically a natural result of humans settlings down to farm in large groups together. Most of DSMP's people can decide to just quit and wander off to live alone for the rest of their lives, no problem, but in a world like VoS or the real world? They are very fucked and so stay in large groups, which then, as history shows, results in some authority being assigned to a group of people to administrate things once the group becomes large enough... and boom. Government, and the start of civilization.
The only way for Techno in Valley of Serenity's universe to plausibly believe in the government stuff, especially after all those talks he had with Wilbur about L'Manberg, would be for me to write him as a completely idiot who's utterly unaware of how governments actually work.
If there's one thing I hate it's writing Techno as an idiot. The same Techno who dominated MCM and Skyblock and prepared for weeks for battle against L'Manberg and managed to successfully build a hidden piston door concealing wither skulls and had the foresight to write a will with "instructions" for Phil because he knew the prison was likely a trap and who has enough battle strategy to defeat Dream and also know not to trust him and thought up contingency plans to escape the Butcher army with the totems and who regularly makes the most intelligent, witty, sarcastic and well-timed remarks with dialogue - Techno is not an idiot. He is far, far from it. In the DSMP universe his anarchy ideals would be defended. In VoS'? Absolutely not. And if Techno has any amount of sense at all in this universe, which he does, he knows it too. I made a choice when I wrote this fic's world the way I did, and I'm am committed to seeing the choice through. Part of the reason why I did it? It was because I wanted to explore the way events like L'Manberg and Pogtopia would have affected the characters in their beliefs and trauma in a realistic setting of war and rebellion and political battles, and DSMP's world was just not a good conduit for that. Places like Sanctuary and arcs like Tubbo's struggles back in L'Manberg wouldn't be able to exist if I didn't go down this route, note to mention how wrong it felt to me to write Wilbur's presidency heavily affecting him when the people he's presiding over is just his friends. Everything would have felt cheaper, faker, more simulated if it had been in a world with Minecraft and DSMP rules. I knew this would require some reinterpretation of certain characters' motivations, but it was worth it to me to give their recovery a sense of weight and realism I felt the DSMP world wouldn't have been able to deliver. (I'm not making any point on how realistic or "heavy" DSMP does its trauma - livestreaming is a vastly different medium than writing and some points here would need to be translated differently when applied to livestream, just as a good book doesn't always make a good movie).
Hence, combined with points 1 and 2, the differing characterization between canon Techno and here.
It's important to note that Techno, Phil, Tommy, and Wilbur are a family unit here in a way that's been completely disproven in canon. They have a backstory that ties them together. This has also definitely influenced Techno's priorities and nudged him towards the path of conscious realization about his anarchy thing here, though it's not a point because it doesn't factor too much into the relevant mentality of Techno's character in terms of how much he believes in the anarchy thing.
So yeah, I hope this clears up some stuff for you! Or that you understand at least why I made the decision with Techno's character.

How is Troy, Cassandra? 
Style: Short Oneshot (2nd POV)
Word Count: 1091 Based on: This and This (Orpheus Wilbur was referenced from here and Sisyphus Phil was from this fic) CW: Panic Attack, Auditory/Visual Hallucinations, slight self harm, some swearing (Feel free to ask me to tag more, these are just what I think is all)
Summary: Blessed with the ability to see the future but cursed so no one believes her, Cassandra is forced to watch Troy fall.  Ranboo suddenly can’t breathe.
You couldn’t breathe. The voices of your friends (Are they even your friends anymore? What did you do? What have you done? Stupid stupid stupidstupidstupid) fade in the background as you make your quick escape from the group, your throat hurting from earlier when you snapped. Your body feels numb, the ground beneath your feet withering as you head to your bunker. 
You weren’t wrong (Right?), you know it (do you?), but why don’t they see it? This- This keeps happening, this will keep happening, so long as people pick sides! L’manberg vs Dream SMP, Pogtopia vs Manberg, New L’manberg vs Tommy- It’s always about sides! It’s why you choose people in the first place!
But haven’t you been picking sides? A voice in the back of his mind whispers, sounding eerily like Dream, Ranboo- friend of everyone, ally of none, betraying everyone. By choosing not to side, you’re choosing to betray everyone aren’t you Ranboo?
You descend into your bunker, the water lightly burning your skin but you’re hardly aware of it- not when your chest is constricting and your hearts are hurting. Everything feels to much yet not enough- you can hardly focus on a thought as the storm brews in your mind. You almost collapse as soon as you’re inside, resting against the obsidian walls as your eyes begin to burn with unfallen tears. 
“You didn’t- You didn’t betray them,” You try and tell yourself, voice shaking as you look at your (its not yours its not yours false false falsefalsefalse) memory book, the drawn smiley face on the first page mocking you, “You didn’t! We always said that... That I side with people. But... But didn’t Techno say he was always on the side of anarchy and they still labeled him a traitor?” Hands grip your hair and tug, it doesn’t register as your own movements until your hands hurt and your head throbs. 
Water rushes outside and if you listen close enough you can dolphins swimming, mellohi overpowering everything else as your thoughts begin to spiral. (Disks, it’s all those stupid disks fault! If- If people didn’t care about those disks so much, then this wouldn’t have happened! It’s just fucking disks! Just like it was just a fucking drug van.)
“Thought I’d find you here,” Dream grins, standing opposite of you. (When did he get inside? You never heard anyone entering.)
“Dre... Dream?” You say, voice cracking as fear claws your throat, “How did you find me?” 
“Well it wasn’t hard,” He says, shrugging as he leans against the wall, “The hole is pretty obvious and the black is strong against the stone and dirt,” His arms are crossed- relaxed. He is dry, unlike you. Your suit heavy against your body, sharply stinging against your hypersensitive skin, “Plus, where else could you go?” 
“Am I a bad person, Dream?” You blurt out before your mouth can catch up with your brain, anxiety wrecking you until all you can think about is the look everyone gave you. (Tubbo hates you, Fundy hates you, Nikki hates you, Eret hates you, Tommy hates you)
“Yes,” Dream says, no hesitation as he bluntly nods, “I mean, by not choosing a side, you unintentionally choose a side- No ones side. You betrayed everyone, Ranboo.” 
You wince as he speaks, hands digging into your arms (When did you move you hands? When did you move to the floor?). Sobs shakily escape as green and red tears drip down your face, the room suddenly feeling a lot smaller. No- no you can’t be a bad person. This- this was supposed to be your redemption! But you fucked up again, didn’t you? You tried- you tired to guide them. You tried, in the end, to tell them how this was because of Dream but you didn’t try hard enough, did you? No- no you did- right? You didn’t pick a side- did you? 
“Do you know about the story of Troy? About Cassandra?” Dream asks you, pulling you away from your thoughts for a moment. You nod, you know about Cassandra- You remember Technoblade talking about her one night as he spoke about the Myths of Old. 
(”Stunned by her beauty, Apollo had gifted Cassandra with prophetic visions,” Technoblade tells you, sharpening his axe, “However, when she denied his romantic advances, he cursed her by making it so no one believes her- even though what she says is the truth. The princess of Troy saw visions of Troy falling and tried to warn people- yet they never believed her. She tried to help her people yet no one believed her. When Troy fell, just as she warned them, the Greeks captured and killed her.” 
“Why are you telling me this?” You ask him, tilting your head a bit, “Not that I mind! It’s very interesting, but why this all of a sudden?”
He pauses his action for a moment, shaking his head before continuing, “Call it a... feeling. I’ve told you about Orpheus and Wilbur, Theseus and Tommy,  Sisyphus and Phil- I have a feeling Cassandra will join us in modern myths soon.”)
“You told them, didn’t you Ranboo?” You can feel Dreams eyes on you, peering into your soul until you lay bare in front of him, “You tried to warn them- Even if New L’Manberg wins, it will only be temporary. I still have the power, the walls are physically gone but they’ll always be there in spirit. This is just a game to me, Ranboo, and you know it,” He begins to make his way to you, slow and tall- power emitting from him and you can’t help but cower, “You spoke the truth to them- L’manberg is a scam, it is was born from spite and a drug van no matter how hard they try and convince themselves otherwise. They should pick one another instead of land, but they don’t listen. They never listen, do they Ranboo?” Dream stops in front of you, and even though you can’t see his eyes, you know he is staring down at you with a smirk on his face. The sun shines behind him, making him almost glow with a halo around his head, “Cassandra, blessed to see the future but cursed so no one believes her. How is Troy, Ranboo?” Dream asks you, leaning down and blinding you with light for a moment- making you close your eyes. 
You open your eyes, Dream is gone and mellohi continues to play. He wasn’t real, he couldn’t have been real- right? 
You can’t breathe.

Alright fuck it I figured it's time to put my nuts in the ring when it comes to writing up rwde reviews about shiddy writing.
I already made a post about how closure doesn't exist in rwby, so that SHOULD trim this a bit. Hopefully.
These last two of seasons of rwby have been ASS and idk even know where to start. So lemme do some character progressions instead of jumping all over the place. Let's start with my fav: Neo. And I'll be as unbiased as possible.
Starting from v6, she came back and teamed up with Cinder. Cool? Cool. Fair enough. V7 onwards she's been treated like a BITCH by Cinder and has visibly shown her disdain for that on screen. And yet she still chooses to hang with her? Why? Like... Genuinely why? Is Neo not like the stealth queen? And the driver of a thousand vehicles? Why does she even need Cinder? Could she not have just jacked an airship herself, flown to Atlas after getting the info from Cinder, and began her hunt there? Instead she's just some minion to her now? Okay fine so let's say their team up makes sense in some odd world. Why the fuck would Neo agree to go to Cinder in the Satan Whale? Why? Why the fuck is she there? After being denied multiple times to get to Ruby and even being treated like shit with visible disdain, she should have absolutely left with a middle finger to Cinder. But nope. We get to see her be visibly uncomfortable in this cult and clearly wants out. Which she does, so good shit. She snatches the lamp and heads out. Fair enough, I guess? I don't know why the fuck she trusts Cinder to go back to her after being treated like shit. After Cinder's doodoo attitude towards her, Neo should be like "wow maybe she's lying to me about roman lemme check with this genie bitch" but no. And don't say "oh well she can't talk so jinn wouldn't be able to answer her." Fuck that. 1. I should hope that the password wouldn't be so ableist against mute people. 2. Neo's resourceful as hell. Text to speech and boom. There ya go. Instead she goes back to Cinder like a lost puppy after being shown multiple times how much she hates her. Why the fuck does she need Cinder to get to Ruby? I have no fucking idea! And then everyone's favorite scene. I know I know she killed Blake's hip atta-- I mean character devel-- I mean Yang. That scene. Was doodoo. And I'll get into more intricacies about it much later. But for now, why the hell was Neo so sloppy in that assassination? Like gurl you revealed yourself so early from, apparently so far away? Pretend to be a passerby with everything disguised (I saw that lamp) impale her and boom. Done. Not sure why she went for a slash either when a thrusting weapons like that would be best for a quicker impale. It would have made any on screen death so much more confirmed instead of up in the air bullshit.
Next we have Ironwood. Oh James. How far you've fallen. I don't really understand what the hell they're doing with this character any more. Like... At all. I fully expect him to turn into the joker and join salem at this point lmfao. At first he was complex, but cool, right? Ok a stern leader who still wants to help people and see team rwby in beacon grow and be successful. Fair enough. Then came v4 and he was like "hey yang. Heard about the arm. Here ya go homie." That was pretty cool to give to a young veteran. Fair enough. But good god once v7 hit, everything just went haywire. He started making the dumbest decisions. Kind of. I understand how he's like "aite let's sack mantle to ensure atlas lives cause otherwise both parties will be dead." except idk why he didn't just make a plan to evacuate everyone to mantle first but whatever. I mean team rwby did it like... In a day? Shouldn't have been hard. Then he started losing his fucking mind. There was an entire thing about trust issues and plans (ngl I didn't care enough to pay much attention) and he ends up wanting to arrest the kids more than actually stopping Salem. Like homie. Why. You have a gang of strong ass hunters on your side, don't just throw that away. They could say "acab fuck the police anarchy reigns" and you should still keep them just to fight literal satan on your doorstep. But he fucking drops everything and resources and materials on arresting them. Like why???? And then he just shoots a child just because? And he goes around full fascist mode and his character is just gone at that point. He literally actively wants to kill the people of Mantle now instead of stopping Salem and I don't fucking get it. He could literally plot with salem about how to nuke mantle and I'd be like "shoulda seen it coming". And then when he gets outta jail he kills Jacques... Just cause? Like why? I understand Jacques let Salem's forces in and eventually led to this shit show, but like... Atlas was falling. Just leave. I don't understand. But I guess it's to show how hateful he is towards those who oppose him, so whatever. Idk I'm so done with him. This man is just so boring I just can't wait for him to get killed off so we can be done with him. I'm sure I missed a fuckload of intricacies about Ironwood but I really don't care at all about this schmuck.
Next on the shitlist is the entirety of team rwby. Just to compact it all into one. Ruby has been getting on my nerves SO much. She is so holier than thou and always right. If she had just openly talked with Ironwood about all these secrets and shit, none of this would be happening. Yeah there would be panic, but homie what's the alternative? Fight in secrecy against the police and Salem?
"hey Ruby I noticed that lamp you keep hanging around. What is that?"
"oh uhhhh definitely not a grimm magnet HAHAHAHAH"
Like no shit everyone's gonna be pissed when you lie to them and keep these secrets. Also these plans are dogshit. "We gotta get a message out." To who??? The rest of the world is gonna see some lil kid be like "hey Ironwood's gone crazy and some evil witch bitch is here tryna kill us all." Like who are they gonna believe? A random girl or the fact that ironwood is the head of the largest military state in the world? For all they know it's just some prank and it's totally unbelievable.
Team RWBY sippin team for v8 and doing nothing all volume? Nice. "But they needed to protect Nora." You mean to tell me Ruby, May, Blake, and Weiss all had to be there to protect someone. The Grimm attacked once and that was it. You guys have no medical history. At all. All you did was wrap her up and drink tea during the volume where there's a literal war happening outside. You don't just "wait for help" you ARE THE HELP you're hunters you fucks! Go out and get shit done. Have like one person stay behind just in case shit goes wrong. Preferably Weiss so she can have those meaningful conversations with her family members she never fucking had. But whatever. Ruby and Yang get into... A fight? That lasts for five seconds when they leave and then when they see each other again it just doesn't matter so I'm not sure why the fuck it was brought up at all. It had no impact whatsoever. And there's a ton more I'm sure I'm just burning out at this point. But let's just talk about the big shit. Yang's death. Everyone's saying she'll come back because plot armor but I'm in the "I genuinely think she's dead" group. She turned to Dust as she fell. I mean who knows maybe Deus Ex machina rears it's convenient head. I hate hate hate how that scene was done. That was such an unbelievable death. Weiss, Ruby, and even Blake all have ways of catching her. Easily. Weiss has like fifty ways of catching someone between summons and semblance. Ruby can teleport around the world. And Blake can just shadow clone jutsu her way there but WHATEVER. I guess everyone was too busy being nerfed and sucking ass. Again. And the reactions? Dog shit. Even when she sacrifices herself for Ruby, it's still all about the bees. It's so genuinely annoying. Ruby just whispers her sisters name and that's pretty much it aside from a >:( face here and there. Weiss doesn't even grieve she just comforts Blake who's losing her shit. And I don't know why Weiss doesn't grieve cause SHE WAS HER HOMIE TOO LIKE C'MON RT LET'S SEE SOME UGLY SOBBING DAMN so now everyone's gone feral (except Weiss who just doesn't give a shit about Yang apparently.) And despite Blake saying "yo let's not kill people aite Yang?" She's gonna say fuck that and have it out for Neo and Cinder out of revenge. Alright I guess. That's fair honestly. Challenging ones own morals based on emotions. Good enough. But god I just wished we could see more from Ruby and Weiss during that. Also I'm so sick of the "oh this character fell are they dead are they not?" Thing that rt keeps doing. Just have Neo impale her and go. Easy as that. On screen confirmation. I'm sure team RWBY has a fuckload more to crit but I'm done with this topic.
Winter. Bootlicking to the extreme that she casts aside her own sister and doesn't care if her friends die. Nice. No closure at all after she turns back to being a good guy I guess. I'm done with her. Not a whole lot to say.
The aceops are just so dumb. I'm done with them. Everytime they talk about genocide for the good of atlas I'm just rolling my eyes. Just say you're fascists and move on. And idk why the fuck harriet is gonna bomb an empty mantle. Atlas is already falling on it, you literally have no reason to do this. And this plot point is stupid as hell. Next.
Cinder. I'm not sure why they decided to randomly drop her background story into the mix. Like I don't think anyone gives a shit after all the crap she's done. I'm so sick of rt trying to make her some "uwu woe is me" woobie after doing so much shit and killing so many people. Her uwu crying moments are just stupid. Honestly watts is one of my fav characters just for telling her how crappy she is. Next
Hazel. Homie is dumb as hell. He hates Ozpin because his sister died in a mission. Fair enough. Why the fuck would you ever join Grimm Hitler when Grimm are what killed her in the first place??? Like??? Just hate him on your own time dude, jesus. And he is consistently hypocritical and it's so stupidly funny how bad this character is.
"HOW MANY MORE CHILDREN WILL YOU HURT OZPIN" as he beats the piss outta Nora, Ren, RWBY, Oscar, and probably some random five year old on the street while shouting OZPIIIIN to the skies. It also didn't take a whole lot to convince him how stupid he was thank god. His character was so cool in design and in theory but good god he got executed soooo fucking poorly. Kinda glad he's dead just so we don't have to deal with his stupidity. Next.
Emerald. This bitch. I can't. I LOVE how easily rwby just forgave her. It was so stupidly funny. "oh but yang was ready to fight her at first and snatched her weapons" yeah for five fucking minutes. Then came the part where she helped stabilize Penny and gave a half assed speech about switching sides. Meanwhile everyone's just magically forgiving of her like OH THAT EMERALD AHAHAH like she didn't help orchestrate the fall of Beacon, the death of many, including Penny, and all the terrible shit that's gone down. No resentment from RWBY except for my favorite line delivered this volume. It was Weiss's ever so beautiful "SHUT UP" LOL (I play Smite and I love how her VVGQ Quiet voice line sounds the same. So when I heard this line, I thought of Smite and immediately laughed. Kudos to you Weiss.)
Salem. The hound attacked Penny in the mansion... Why? You already established connection with Watts in jail. Did he not tell her "ay she cool with us." And in turn did she not tell him "ay she cool with us don't hit her"? I guess not? Cause the hound and penny shoulda bounced together the second they met up lmao. Other than that, salem's done nothing this volume except try to be scary and get her ass beat by hazel. She could easily just go out in the field with her grimm and blasts some people or SOMETHING GOD so far our main villain is just so boring and unimposing that literally every other villain, including her subordinates, feel more like threats than her.
Now I'll just talk about scenes.
The scene with ambrosius was COATED IN CONVENIENCE. Apparently Ozpin didn't tell the gang about the WinMore button they could just fucking walk to until now because??? Idk. I LOVE how team rwby just assumed that penny would be okay when they took her robot parts out. Realistically she should just be a floating husk of aura and nothingness. Like she never had organs. I don't understand how she's a real person now? Which, by the way, I'm pretty fucking insulted about how they handled that. Why make Penny human? She was already a real girl and accepted by her loved ones. Like shit, she was a character that a LOT of transgirls, myself included, could relate to on a personal level and we LOVED how Ruby handled it in v2. It was cute! It was sweet! She said she was a real girl back then and it made all of our collective kokoros go doki doki. Fun stuff!
But now? It feels like none of that was validated until she got an actual human body. Like damn I wish I could just get my ideal body within seconds. Shit. I've seen and heard a lot of upset from my fellow tgirls about how doodoo that scene was, because it's implying penny wasn't a real girl until after she got her human body and that's probably how most of the rwby fandom is gonna see it too. "oh wow penny's a real girl now!" And just forget Ruby's cute speech in v2. So annoying. Minor nitpick, if she's got the aura of a black man inside of her (her father), and her robot body is gone, why the fuck isn't she black? Like? Idk minor nitpick I guess. But anyways back to ambrosius scene. I love how rwby had the answers for everything within the hours worth of planning they were given by Ironwood's motive. Totes believable. And yet the "one way ticket to vacuo" thing was the simplest shit they could have avoided lmfao. Like THAT is what you trip up on? Not the portals you're trying to make or the assumption that penny lives without her robot parts? Insane. (side note: how did oscar have a flashback to that scene if he wasn't even there?)
And now everyone's favorite scene. Yangs death. Already covered it early I just wanted to add more on. This scene is insane. Like... If they actually go through with killing her (i don't see how she could have survived turning into dust) then roosterteeth is dumber than I gave them credit for. Like... They have to realize the shitstorm they're gonna receive right? First they kill off clover, an lgbt+ coded character. Next is Yang? A main character who is WIDELY loved by all. Apart of their most pandered ship in existence: bees. (Both the ship and the character make them so much money in merch btw so this was stupid from an objective standpoint.) You can't just kill a main character that is heavily lgbt+ coded in THE most popular ship in the show. Like... How dumb can they be? They're gonna lose so many fans at the very least. Sales? Down. Death threats? Way up. It would be astonishing if they weren't up to their necks in shit in backlash by that decision. Bury Your Gays trope strikes again folks. But this time with everyone's favorite! Like I just... Idk that decision was stupid and that scene hardly was given any real pomp or circumstance it deserved. She's a major title character and that scene lasted like a minute lmao. It's gonna be RWBY without the Y. RWB. As in rt is a bunch of rubes for making that decision. A cynical part of me thinks they did that just because they want an excuse to off Neo, another really loved character. (Well if everyone hates her now we can kill her off cause god knows we don't know what to do with her), but I'm not gonna make this about her. I honestly don't know how to feel about this death tbh. On one hand it's shitty and *points to essay above*. On another it lets Blake be her own character for once. We get to see who she is on our own. And we can finally shift gears from The Bees Show featuring Some Plot to RWBY without the Y. But again that scene was done horribly with doodoo writing already explained up above. They're gonna use this as some edgy excuse to have the heroes start killing again or grieve or whatever bullshit shock value.
(now that I think of it tho, Neo shoulda killed yang in v2. How the fuck did Raven know she was finna die again. Lmao)
Anyways, that's my two cents. I'm sure there's so much more I forgot. Love or hate my ramble idc these are just my thoughts. I'm sure I made doodoo arguments at some points so feel free to call me an idiot and point them out. Imma bounce. My fingers fucking hurt lmfao

leftist suriya characters appreciation post
since soorarai pottru, been thinking more about all the explicit leftist characters suriya has played in his career. and i actually mean explicit - characters that are supported by the narrative framing and structure and not just my own headcanons and stuff or a throwaway generic goody-shoe typical hero line. i have been itching to talk about this cos it’s obviously in my field of interests
suriya has played 4 openly various brands of leftist now, and that’s pretty cool! i love that none of them are cookie cutter personalities of each other, they all have their own select trait. this post is a toast to them;

1. michael vasanth (ayutha ezhuthu, 2004)

so michael was his first, said to be inspired by an actual university popular marxist student leader, george reddy. michael is very obviously somewhere along these lines - he himself is within the film known as the leftist student leader on campus with a huge following, much to the chagrin of his professors who want to stamp that out of him. he’s openly engaged in campus politics as well as politics outside, and he’s most definitely no weak willed liberal because he has no problems with violence or direct action, which he organises. he organises villagers to stand against others on their own feet, never once preaches about lying down and taking it easy or playing polite. which was nice to see lol i hate liberals who have morals about property damage but in ayutha ezhuthu, michael clearly doesn’t give a fuck. he and his group break things and smash cars and lorries on their way and threaten physical violence on their opponents too which is the way it should be because to him human lives are worth more than any property or vehicular damage. he never shies away from that. hell yes to violence and structural damage!

probably the most definite trait of michael compared to other suriya leftist characters is that michael still believes in the establishment and electoral politics, which u don’t particularly see his other leftist ones talk about. but here, michael works within the system, and trusts it to bring change if u put in the effort into that. though, it’s not as frustrating as it sounds cos michael’s work is not geared towards other liberals, but in villages and rural districts where he goes to spread word, and makes them choose their own leadership to represent. it’s way more marxist aligned and ~rise of the proletariat~ here instead cos he bypasses liberal bougie nonsense and never once is his voice used for that, but used towards and for the working class directly to both take up arms and resist violently themselves + hold ranks for themselves and choose their own leaders to influence their local politics/protect their environment.  
michael is fundamentally very marxist, with a dose of direct action plus violent resistance if need be, and supports organised proletariat uprising within an established political system playing towards electoral politics
(of course, a point to note in why this isn’t as frustrating as it sounds as mentioned above is cos this film was released in 2004. would michael still believe in the establishment and electoral politics now? things in 2020 are very different with all of us more aware of things around us and globally, it’s definitely a debate to be held. i doubt he will, since he’s not a pacifist or liberal. he’d say fuck electoral politics, all my homies hate electoral politics)
2. vimalan (maattraan, 2012)

second very openly communist character he played. prob gone a bit forgotten for others since he does die halfway through the film (which itself isn’t a favourite of anyone either, fans or neutrals) rip but can’t go by without mentioning cos i remember liking this character a lot and i teared up in the cinema first watch when he died. i was mad they killed the suriya i loved instead of the other one whom i found annoying lmao
vimal supports workers’ strikes and unions against bosses, even when that boss is their own shitty father. this automatically makes him stand out instantly considering he is sympathetic to the working class despite at the cost of his father’s annoyance with him. he’s also the first character suriya plays who’s explicitly anti-capitalist with line(s) about it, since michael had no canon lines regarding capitalism from what i recall. vimal outright does.

the leftist imagery tied to vimal the most is che, which is a nice touch. his room has at least one poster of him, and his phone’s wallpaper is also him. u can also see bhagat singh and ho chi minh books on his shelf. so.. safe to claim where vimal’s political ideologies are. it’s both tied in pictures and him siding with workers for their rights against corporations, since he obviously likes revolutionaries. vimalan was a class traitor and a supporter of the working class poor bb tragically gone too soon. ilu u didn’t deserve your terrible fate, sweet commie good boi :(
3. iniyan (thaanaa serndha koottam, 2018)
iniyannnnnn i love him and i think it’s a suriya char with one of the best character arcs in his whole career. mostly cos he had a very distinct ‘’yes i want to work for the government and change things from within’’ phase which gets squashed over the course of the film. we see him start off obviously in a very blatantly communist neighbourhood in a song that is also very specifically anti-establishment/politicians with a lot of hard resistance vibes. the entirety of sodakku is a very good introduction to him and what he stands for - in general the film promises upon wealth disparity, useless bougie politicians, and the rest of us being crushed under them.

what happens to him at the end of the movie is FANTASTIC because he no longer gels with what he wanted at the start of the movie. iniyan’s key leftist trait to me is that he’s the most anarchist of suriya characters, varying from other leftist suriya characters. he refuses to work with government powers and authorities, he looks down on their entire establishment and institutions (he does not at the start of the film, which is vital cos again, he wanted to work alongside them at first), and depends more on the good will of individual people over job titles, while clearly engaging in mutual aid and distributing wealth. these are very distinct anarchist ideals. i’d still peg him as anarcho-communist but would say he leans more towards anarchy and progressing on mutual aid over official state resources or state people for any kind of positive change since his faith in them has pretty much diminished by the climax. he does not give a shit about politicians, cops, or any kind of authorities at all, leaving them in the dust to raise his black flag and do his own anarchist hot shit.
iniyan is a good example of an anarchist arc for me in tamil cinema in simple commercial terms without heading too deep into actual words and phrases in a big hero movie, cos it’s also very easy to explain to anyone the shift in his ideas and his eroding faith in institutions with power. good for him!
4. maara (soorarai pottru, 2020)

this should be fresh in everyone’s memory, but yes, a character who is obviously in your face about it since he has an actual line - ‘’you’re a socialite, i’m a socialist’’ which caused all of us with good taste to whoop and cheer. plus he was very sexy in this whole scene, so what a bonus. it’s the most explicit thing said by him in the film, but there are also other little things peppered into his speech and background imagery showing u the kind of person maara is.

he gets married to bommi in a self-respect wedding ceremony. no priests or any kind of traditional hindu iyers/chants involved. u see it clearly with a periyar pic hanging behind him explaining who he is. he wears black a lot in the film, which fits him being a periyarist so i’d label him as such and consider it his standout trait from other leftist characters suriya has played previously because this is the only character with explicit periyar symbolism (i kid u not i saw multiple sanghis being very angry suriya dressed in black in this movie and were harassing him on twitter constantly since sp released. die mad, uglies). obviously, this also fuses well with the little things we see of him implying he’s ~lower caste~ like his in-laws being embarrassed about him on behalf of their own caste, and paresh sanitising his hands after shaking hands with maara on the plane, which is not subtle at all and trademark casteist behaviour about touching someone ‘’lesser’’ than you and u view them as ‘’dirty’’ or beneath you. as well as maara’s remark about breaking the class and caste barrier during his radio interview. being a periyarist fits seamlessly.

there’s also a bts vid of suriya on his bike where you can see an ambedkar pic pasted onto the side. i can’t remember any scene in the film where u can see his bike from this angle but it doesn’t matter, cos u can definitely tell the kind of person maara is and how he was envisioned as a character - an explicit socialist and periyarist, with a natural fondness for ambedkar too since ofc they overlap as many do irl as well. it is very in tune with his background in the film and i liked seeing the tiny aspects of these things seeded within the movie throughout from beginning to end. it’s explicit in a way that isn’t jarring or artificial, and a nice layer to him and feel endeared to since maara is a great character. u support him all the way with him being unquestionable in his stance and ideology. the sexiest leftist suriya character, if i say so myself, ahem.

5. ngk (ngk, 2019)
bonus: THIS IS IT. THE BIGGEST SIKE. THE BIGGEST WHIPLASH. THE BIGGEST BASTARD.
it’s here cos damn, when they released that first look, i completely lost my shit cos that poster was sooo heavily che inspired and very, very obviously marxist. cue me thinking that holy shit suriya is openly playing some kind of marxist guerilla revolutionary in ngk and he’s gonna be some brand of violent radical leftist i’m gonna fall in love with. the beret, the raised fists, the red.. i was ready to be head over heels for this guy.

except of course, none of this was true, cos once the film released, u know that poster was only meant to signify how his village looked up to him before he sold them all out. it’s literally just a mural on the wall where a kid stares up at him in a larger extended poster. he COULD have been that character, but ngk’s character arc was a negative character arc and his moral downfall from the start to the end of the film, sacrificing all he stood for to arrive at his end point which was just dragging his village and all the youngsters who believed in him to the pits before jumping party to the winning group and abandoning all of them after manipulating them to act in his favour to gain sympathy. not to mention, also selling out to corporate tools to harness their power and influence in order to rise to the top himself, something he very openly states at the beginning of the film to his mum and wife that working like that is no way to live. he has a full reverse by this point, compared to how ngk was introduced to us as an audience with that first look of him.
the marxist poster was a complete 180 to how ngk falls on the spectrum at the end, but it was a great ride nevertheless and at least one thing was still true - i still fell in love with him cos he was such an asshole bastard but still so hot i had to give in. biiiicchh. i love u, non-leftist regressive jerk. u may have pulled the biggest sike on me, but.. my heart is yours, slut <3

ok that’s really it and all i wanted to say so hopefully at least a few people read this lmafooo. i do think these characters and time have sort of seeped into suriya over the years as evident by his shifting left in the last couple of years, and openly also saying he has had a lot of perspective changes on things around him. he has been noted in recent interviews saying stuff like how he’s in favour of a cashless society, talking about a whole new level of poverty class being created during this pandemic. his written articles/statements/agaram related speeches takes jibes at india’s education system being brahministic/casteist in nature and how it creates barriers for the lowest strata of society while also being very sensitive about student suicides, showing understanding of it as a systematic failure and not an individual one, courts not functioning for justice, not demonising protests as it’s the only act left for the voiceless, etc. it’s nice. i wouldn’t go as far as to call him a leftist until he proves that to me (suriya is still very much in that liberal zone of appreciating the police and military institutions so i will never consider him one of us until he sheds these allegiances and rethinks his stance on them in society), but i’d say he’s definitely the furthest left of all prominent actors in tamil cinema as no one else really has said or written the things that he has, for which i’m very proud of him.
so keep up the good work and hot shit comments and ballsy articles, suriya, i look forward to u shifting further left and pissing off everyone from right wing patriotic assholes, to centrist bootlickers, and even cowardly liberal pacifists. i believe in u and i hope he crosses that steep liberal curve soon since we were all there at some point as well.

So now that @healing-winston-pratt and I have explained how we got rid of ¼ of Supernova, let me tell you that it doesn’t stop here because you don’t mess with the type As when something gets into their heads.

This is our post-Supernova canon divergence :) which, btw, it’s the one we’ll use from now on to create our content (actually, @healing-winston-pratt  already used it for her birthday drawings and I just stood there playing dumb pretending I didn’t have anything to do with it jssjjs). So, if you see that Callum and Winston are suddenly alive in our content or you find some of the things established in this list it’s because...yeah :)

As mentioned before , Leroy starts living with his daughter Nova and Winston, in a house provided by the State (The Council hee hee).
Callum and Winston are (evidently) alive, but Genissa is dead.
Ace, Evander and Honey remain dead.
And this is where our canon continues uwu.
Leroy has to do community service for like...indefinite time :)
Winston, on the other hand, has two jobs. He works in an animal shelter, where he adopts a dog named Carnival bc wE CAN and also we want to quote this post :https://chiyuki-hiro.tumblr.com/post/621159663188180992/oh-no-a-head-canon  by @chiyuki-hiro (AFGSHFVDGB THAT HEADCANON IS G R E A T WE LOVE YOU) because we had come to an agreement that Winston would have an art therapy group for children but this addition is honestly so freaking wholesome :’))))))) <3
Nova has a temporary resignation from patrolling and starts going to therapy, where she is diagnosed with PTSD.
Nova also helps with the establishment of a new system, modifies the recruitment system and that stuff.
She’s not in the Team Sketch full time. Sometimes she’s in the offices, and at night she works with Callum.
And just like Narcissa, she digs her own grave :)
Thing is: Nova suggested that every time a new recruit arrived, the Council had DNA samples taken from them so they could check if they had any crime attached to them.
Now, by the end of Supernova in the canon universe we elected to ignore it is mentioned that Maggie sees Leroy staring at her in the distance, in a very suspicious way. Now, we don’t know about y’all, but we interpreted this as Leroy noticing Maggie looks like young Nova XD. So, this does happen in our canon, when Leroy is already out of prison.
By this time, DNA samples from Maggie and Nova have already been taken and uploaded to the system; and let’s say that Leroy gets very...concerned about the lookalike and decides to tell Winston, who confirms Maggie looks a lot like Nova X’DDD and so, they reach out to the Council to ask them to pls compare Maggie’s samples to Nova’s. U know, like angry mothers at the principal’s office :)
And so they do it just because they have nothing to lose.

SO MAYBE, TO DOUBLE-CHECK, they compare Maggie’s DNA to DNA found in the crime scene (from David and Tala or maybe baby Maggie herself) and the results are still the same :).
Then, Winston and Leroy have to tell Nova and she reacts in the worst way possible for reasons I’ll explain in a fic I’ll be uploading soon cause’ I wrote it MONTHS ago.
Maggie doesn’t react much better tbh :)
But after a while, since this is, like, the right thing to do, Maggie starts living with them , but changes her name to Margaret Artino until she feels part of the family and is comfortable living there.
Because at first, Nova and her don’t get along and Maggie claims she fucking hates this house even though she knows is better than living in the streets.
They basically have a very chaotic home during the adaptation period until the girls start tolerating each other :) and even then, they’re still very chaotic bc it’s Winston, Leroy, Nova and Maggie we’re talking about :) :) :)
Not long after Maggie starts living with her big sis, Simon and Hugh ask Nova to join a family vacation and bring Maggie w/her.
Maggie doesn’t want to go, so Leroy and Winston go to Nova all like “If your sister doesn’t go, then you’re not going either” and Nova fucking loses it so she ends up begging/forcing Maggie to go :)
They go to the beach in MATCHING OUTFITS bc Simon said so (LIKE IN THE WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE MOVIE) :) they take a lot of embarrassing pictures and Nova and Adrian are forced to go in the banana boat with Max and Maggie.
They fall and Nova and Adrian are acting as if they were in the Titanic while Max and Maggie are having the time of their lives lmao
BC NOVA ALSO NEEDS BONDING WITH THE IN-LAWS
At some point, too, Maggie adopts a stray cat whom she names Tofu, and he fucking hates Carnival even though Carnival is the cutest thing :’)
Winston, Leroy, Nova and Maggie celebrate birthdays every year bc they’re trying to compensate years of trauma.
And for that same reason (compensating years of trauma), Nova and Maggie take their sweet time to move out.
Actually, Adrian meticulously plans the date when he’s gonna propose to Nova, so he asks her to move with him exactly a year before that.
They live in an apartment for that whole year, he proposes and they start planning the wedding uwu.
Nova and Adrian have a non-religious ceremony, and since they’re fucking extra, Nova gets married in a black dress and Adrian in a white tuxedo bc miss Artino wanted a dress the same color as her soul :)
Leroy walks Nova down the aisle.
Ruby is Nova’s Maid of Honor and Oscar is Adrian’s Best Man.
Max and Maggie have the rings.
Tamaya’s youngest son is the flower child.
Which, talking about Tamaya, she fucking hates Leroy and Nova bc, honestly, we would hate them too. Leroy fucked up her face and Nova was part of the terrorist attack lmao
SO, YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW CHAOTIC THAT WEDDING WAS, bc they had to avoid leaving Tamaya and Leroy alone at all costs :)
She hugged Nova so violently when congratulating her, that she left a bruise in her shoulder :)
Basically she was there just because she loves Adrian even though she doesn’t approve his decision to marry Nova
Nova and Maggie maintain a close relationship even after Nova marries Adrian. Maggie and Max are included in every family vacation after the honeymoon ofc.
Nova and Maggie get matching tattoos uwu
Nova has the Big Dipper and Maggie has the Little Dipper.
As for the others. The ones who...are no longer there :’)
  @healing-winston-pratt and I have this headcanon that Evander’s wife (we named her Sandra) was expecting a baby at the time of the battle. They had already chosen a first name (Arthur), so she used Evander as his middle name, as the baby didn’t get to meet his dad.
Arthur Evander Wade.
Winston finally gives Evander his DS back.
The Council, thanks to Nova’s suggestion once again, limited a specific area around Georgia’s spot and called it The Aisle of The Fallen.
Genissa, Honey and the victims of the attack to the Arena,  the lift of the city and the battle of the Cathedral are there.
 Evander, however, is resting in Georgia’s mausoleum, next to her, because we think  that mausoleum was constructed in the first place so all the members of the Council could rest together once they left, meaning that they’ll all be there at some point in time. Unfortunately, Evander was the first one to join Georgia despite being the youngest.
Ace is not in the cemetery.
Nova left his helmet in the cathedral, but asked for his body to be cremated.
When she was a child, David used to tell her stories about how Ace seemed to be really happy back in Italy; how he had revolutionary ideas and wanted prodigies to be free; how he used to be a good brother that helped him survive.
So, a few months after Leroy was released from prison, she, Leroy, Winston, Hugh, Simon, Max and Adrian went to Italy with her, to spread Ace’s ashes so he could find peace in the only place he was ever sane and happy.
Ace Anarchy rests in his cathedral.
But what was left of Alec James Artino rests in Italy. (I have a fic about this too)

All Jungkook could see was red. Not that he was angry, but that his eyes were shut tight defensively. He couldn’t peel them open, not even when he heard approaching footsteps.
“Is he alive?” The voice of one of his friends, laced with melancholy.
“Doesn’t look like it. We don’t have time to wait.”
“We can’t leave him-“
“Yes, we can. Survival is key. Friendship is secondary. Let’s go.” Jungkook wanted nothing more than to make some sort of noise or move to let them know that they were wrong, but in the blistering pain over his body he couldn’t even muster up the slightest whimper. With their decision made, the footsteps echoed into the distance.
For a while, all he could do was lie still, his body working as hard as it could to keep him working, no matter how tempting it was to slip away.
Then he felt a weathered hand on his forehead, and another around his wrist. Checking for a pulse.
Jungkook’s perseverance had broken through, as he felt someone put an arm under his shoulder to lift him up to his feet, and he blinked for a second. Through his blurry vision he saw the outline of his saviour before everything faded away.

A warm sunlight awaited Jungkook when he finally woke up, sitting up and letting the cold towel on his head flop to the ground pathetically. His sudden momentum alerted the other person in the room, who turned towards him.
You could have told Jungkook that he really had died and gone to heaven, because she was an angel. Her (H/C) hair was highlighted and glowing in the patchy sunshine that streamed through the boarded up window.
“I was worried you were never going to wake up.” He didn’t realise he’d been staring until after a while she spoke and woke him out of his daydream.
Jungkook opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.
“I’m sorry, you must be thirsty.” She offered him the water bottle sat next to her. It was warm and tasted musty, but Jungkook couldn’t help but to gulp it down as if it were liquid gold.
“W-why?” was all that he could croak out.
“You were badly wounded, but not dead. I couldn’t just let you die.” She smiled. He looked down to see a few patchy beige bandages on his chest, and a green bandana tied around his arm. When he looked up again, he met her gaze.
“Do you have a name?” She asked, offering her hand for him to shake.
“J-Jungkook.” He managed to stutter through his newly regained voice.
“I’m (Y/N).” She took his limp hand and gave it a mock shake, whilst Jungkook just stared at her, enamoured.

Before he had met (Y/N), Jungkook was certain he was destined for an early grave. Sure, he had the fighting skills necessary to survive, yet he had nothing to live for but his friends, who had left him for dead. But after he was saved, he found a purpose to his life - to be with (Y/N). Gone was the sentimentality and loyalty for the people he’d spent years with and in its place was a enamouration with the girl who’d given him salvation.
He was able to recover quicker than anticipated. Within a matter of days he was walking again, only with a slight stagger from the pain in his side. Still, he still simpered and asked for her to care for him and ease his pain, which she did so with a kind smile. Not once in that week did they leave their shelter, and supplies were starting to run thin.
“Just stay here and rest. I swear I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can.” (Y/N) pressed the handgun into Jungkook’s hands. “Don’t go looking for a fight and you’ll be fine.”
“Please don’t go, (Y/N). What if…” He whimpered, eyes downcast to evoke as much sympathy as he could. (Y/N) just sighed and pressed a kiss into his forehead, leaving whilst he was still frozen with glee.

“Stay behind me.” Jungkook commanded, peering out from behind the corner. After he was completely healed, he hadn’t even given (Y/N) a choice in the matter of him accompanying her when she had to adventure out. It made his chest swell with pride to see her behind him, letting him protect her should they encounter anyone violent.
“Coast looks clear.” He muttered, still keeping his half empty gun in his hands, not prepared to give anyone the slightest chance to hurt (Y/N).
“Who’s there?” Suddenly, a voice called out. The duo immediately pressed their backs to the wall, praying that they hadn’t been noticed.
“Hello?” There was an audible crunch of gravel from torn up tarmac under the strangers feet. But all that Jungkook could hear was the beating of his heart in his ears. He wasn’t ready to fight again, but he would have to do so for her. For (Y/N).
But when he came face to face with the stranger, he lowered his weapon immediately.
“Tae?” A smile spread across his face at meeting his long-lost friend.
“You’re alive?” Taehyung lowered his weapon and pulled him in for an embrace.
“(Y/N) saved me.” Jungkook replied simply, but when Taehyung made eye contact with her and offered her his classic boxy smile, the younger man felt a weird kind of sickness in his stomach.

The leader of the gang offered his hand to (Y/N) with a grateful expression.
“Thank you for saving him, (Y/N). It wasn’t fun to leave him behind like that.”
“It’s okay!” She smiles, taking his hand and shaking it. “He didn’t deserve to die, so I made it my mission not to let him.”
Her words made Jungkook’s heart soar. They really were the perfect couple, at least in his mind. Maybe she saw him as an angel too, on that day?
“Do you have any plans for what to do now that Jungkook’s back with us?” He tuned back into the conversation, interest piqued.
“Yeah, there’s a place I need to go.” Panic flooded Jungkook’s brain, bile building up on his stomach at the thought that she would be leaving.
“You’re sure we can’t help you with anything?” Namjoon persisted, noting the look on the maknae’s face.
“It’s best that I don’t disturb you any longer.” (Y/N) said simply with her everkind nature.
Jungkook couldn’t bear such a conversation any longer.
“Stay here for tonight (Y/N). It’ll be much safer if you leave in the morning.” Luckily with just the right tone and expression (Y/N) agreed to his offer.

By the way the room was nearly blanketed in darkness with the exception of some moonlight peeking through the window, Jungkook could deduce it was midnight.
‘Perfect.’
As much as it pained him to do so, he detached himself from (Y/N) to stand up, feeling warm at the sight of her sleeping peacefully, despite being devoid of his previous warmth.
Yet there was a bigger issue at hand. He stalked through the corridor with light steps until he reached the room at the end, tapping on the wood twice until he heard a deep voice say “come in.”
Namjoon looked up from his map, a stressed expression on his face. Jin was equally perplexed, but nonetheless beckoned Jungkook to join them.
“Is something the matter? You’ve been antsy all evening.” Jin was the first one to speak.
“Hyung, why won’t you let (Y/N) stay?” Jungkook’s voice was quiet yet it could be heard loud and clear by both men.
“We asked her if she wanted to and she said that she has other plans.” Namjoon answered simply.
“Bullshit. You didn’t offer to let her stay.” The harshness of the young man’s voice shocked both of the elders. “You didn’t give her the choice to stay with me like she wants to.”
“It’s not like that-”
“Why are you trying to keep us apart?!” Jungkook growled. “Do you hate her? Is that why you’re trying to throw her out, so that she can be ripped apart by all the other savages?”
“Calm down.” Jin snapped. The red anger in Jungkook’s eyes faded, and his fist uncurled for a second.
“If you’re so pent up about this, we’ll ask her in the morning. But if she says no, there’s nothing we can do about it.” Jungkook sniffled, reaching into his pocket to find the one thing that could comfort him in this situation. (Y/N)’s green bandana, which he rubbed between his fingers as if it were a security blanket, so he could tell himself that she would stay.
“She’ll stay. (Y/N) loves me, so she’ll stay. And I don’t want to see either of you even try to talk to her after trying to kick her out like this.” He clenched the cloth tighter.
Neither of the older men responded.
“Right?” Jungkook withdrew his hand from his pocket, ready to use whatever force necessary to get compliance.
“What’s that?” Namjoon asked, taking note of the cloth clenched in his fist.
The boy didn’t reply, still tense.
“Give it here, Jungkook.” Before, he would have complied instantly. But now he just glared.
“You want to take another part of (Y/N) away from me? Why, do you have some sadistic lust for her? I’ll break your fucking knees.” Jungkook growled, holding his fist to his chest.
“That belongs to (Y/N)?” The young man nodded tersely.
“Fuck.”

“Get out.” (Y/N) was awoken by the harsh stamp of a boot mere centimetres away from her head. Opening her eyes groggily she saw Taehyung.
“What…?” She slurred, still drowsy from sleep.
“You’re a filthy rat. Hoxton’s sent you to spy on us, huh?” He grabbed her arm and dragged her to her feet.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about-” (Y/N)’s heart was pounding out of her chest. When she’d found out Jungkook was in BTS, she’d felt a horrible anxiety in her stomach that they could have found out about her background, but now the nightmare was coming true.
Outside of the room she could hear a scuffle. It was at that precise moment that she realised Jungkook wasn’t in the room, as she heard his cries outside.
“Don’t you dare hurt my (Y/N)! If you so much as touch her I’ll rip your head off, I’ll break every single one of your fingers, I’ll gouge your eyes out-”
She wasn’t quite sure what was more terrifying, her predicament or the previously sweet boy’s violent threats.
Taehyung didn’t seem to be affected however, his resolve hard as he dragged (Y/N) out.
When Jungkook saw her arm held tightly in his “friend”’s grasp, he started struggling against the hold of his elders with a fresh passion, ugly tears streaming down his face.
“Don’t hurt her Tae! She saved me, she means so much to me, you can’t hurt her!” He begged, trying to appeal emotionally when threats were redundant.
“Be quiet, Jungkook.” Jin snapped, only being rewarded with an elbow to the face. He let go of Jungkook’s arm to clutch his now bleeding nose, letting Jungkook shake Hoseok off his other arm.
Mere seconds passed before Taehyung was being held in a choke hold, struggling against his friend’s iron grip with a whimper.
“What are you doing Jungkook?” His attention was stolen away from strangling Taehyung to his angel, watching from the floor frozen in place.
“He was going to kill you! I can’t let that happen!” Jungkook was flushed with rage but also an embarrassment from how (Y/N) was looking at him.
Naturally everyone else in the gang was horrified at what was happening. Two of their members fighting over the fate of a traitor. But something had to be done before Taehyung was choked to death.
“If you let him go, we’ll talk about this with you.” Namjoon negotiated, breathing a sigh of relief when Jungkook complied. Taehyung was dropped to the ground, where he started to breathe heavily, pupils wide with adrenaline.
“(Y/N), can you explain this?” The leader turned his attention to the girl, holding up a slightly grubby green piece of cloth. One that spoke a thousand words.
“I… I don’t want to be in any gang. I just want to help people.” She couldn't meet anyone’s eyes, head hung in shame. “I’ll leave, and I won’t ever even think about you guys again. I’m done with everything; All of these fucking gangs just keep fighting for power and I don’t want any part in it!”
Jungkook searched her face desperately for some sign that she was lying. Surely she wanted to stay with them? Surely she couldn’t leave him so easily?
However, he was proven wrong as she stood up, brushing off the dust clinging to her clothes.
“No, (Y/N)! You… you can’t leave!” Jungkook pleaded.
“I’m so sorry… for ultimately hurting you Jungkook.” With a heavy heart she turned away.
Only to be stopped dead in her tracks when a knife was raised to her throat.
“You aren’t going anywhere.” The rest of the gang looked at Jin incredulously.
“You know enough about us to be a threat should you leak it to your buddies. We’ll decide what to do with you later, but for now you’re staying with us, whether you like it or not.” His eyes flashed over to Jungkook. Whilst he feared a violent response, he was relieved to see to the reaction he’d been aspiring for: happiness.
Sure, it wasn’t the best solution to the argument, but if it kept the youngest happy and prevented fighting, Jin was prepared to sacrifice one girl’s free will.

The heavy scent of blood lingered in the air. A few years ago, such an atmosphere would have made (Y/N) wretch, but experience had hardened her stomach.
“(Y/N)! You’re not hurt, are you Angel?” Jungkook tutted, examining her face quickly. He found a graze on her cheek, and it was as if she had been shot. “I told them you shouldn’t come with us, why did you? We need to get back to base to treat it!”
Too tired to protest, she let him tug her away from the fight. Until she heard someone shout her name. A familiar voice calling out to her.
“(Y/N)! Oh my God (Y/N)! You’re alive!” Tears welled up in the young woman’s eyes at the sight of her brother. He was breathing heavily, clutching a wound in his side, but at the same time he had a ten-kilowatt smile on his face.
“Are you-”
The boy had mere seconds before he slumped to the ground, the loud ‘bang’ of a gunshot echoing through the desolate area. The few seconds that seemed to last an eternity were only filled with Jungkook’s heavy breathing.
Jungkook lowered his gun, huffing.
“We need to go.” He said simply, glowering.
“Are you insane? Jungkook, that was my brother! My family! You just killed him, you sick-” (Y/N) sobbed. She wanted to scream, to fight, but she was too shocked to do anything but mourn.
“Your brother? Glad I got rid of him then.” Jungkook’s scowl didn’t let up. “He would’ve taken you back to that gang, away from me. He deserves this.”
For a moment, (Y/N) took his words into consideration. She didn’t want to rule that he was a sick monster, a murderer, a maniac. But the smoke wafting from his gun was enough to overcome all her
She tugged her hand out of his grasp, glaring and taking a few steps away from him.
“(Y/N)? Please, understand me Angel! You can’t leave me! You can’t!” Jungkook’s emotions were changing like a weather, going from moody to tearful in a heartbeat.
(Y/N) couldn’t find the words to reply. Surely this was a nightmare? Surely she’d wake up and her brother would be safe, and the name Jeon Jungkook would mean nothing to her?
She room another shaky step away. Instantly, his face contorted with despair. He raised the pistol to point it at her leg before pulling the trigger.
Pain blossomed in her leg. (Y/N) collapsed onto the floor, cradling her now injured limb as Jungkook stalked towards her, smirking.
“I’m so sorry, Angel. But now I can return the favour, right? I’ll save you, I can nurse you back to health! Then we can stay together!” His eyes sparkled with joy as he spoke, scooping her off the ground gracefully, being sure to be tender with her leg as to not cause excess pain.
“We don’t even have to stay here! If you don’t like everyone else in BTS, we can just leave! Yes, that’s perfect! We’ll leave and find our own place to settle in, away from all this chaos in the city!” Jungkook babbled, sighing happily. “We can grow vegetables and raise a family in the countryside! Ah, I’m so excited already!”
As (Y/N) rested her head against his chest and closed her eyes, she knew she had no greater regret than offering Jungkook a chance at life.

Silver Lake: a desperate grab by Monroe and co to build their own “utopia” … sorta like the Anarchs 60yrs ago… and look how THAT went. Monroe ate the last Old Guard Anarch.

Hi, okay. So um I’m kinda scared to send this because I think you’re really cool and I don’t want it to seem like I don’t like you, but I also kinda tense up whenever I see things that are super anarchistic. For context, I’m a Bernie/AOC supporter.
I don’t know what your racial background is, so I don’t want to assume, but I also kinda think that my position as a poc has kept me from being pulled further left.
For example, whenever I see anarchists talking about the destroying the state (which I am aware is a quite an over-generalization, but I don’t know enough about anarchist philosophy) my mind immediately goes to “so then people can commit hate crimes and there will be no punishment.” While I am aware that our current system was built on racism and that is still very much alive today, there’s also some fears that I have about anarchy.
It’s hard for me to fully subscribe to it because when there’s a lawless society, people aren’t going to feel the restriction that they usually do. And while I would like to believe that people are fundamentally good, it’s hard for me to do that when I’m scared of taking a walk because someone might kill me. And I think it might get worse if government was fully taken down.
Plus when I see people saying that voting for a candidate who isn’t as far left as you is a bad thing to do (obviously not everyone, but I see it often enough that it scares me), it doesn’t strike me as someone leading a revolution. It looks like someone that wouldn’t have to deal with the ramifications of having their rights as a queer person stripped away, or that they’re okay with systems of institutional racism still prevailing, or numerous other things.
It just strikes me as an incredibly privileged philosophy. And I know that’s probably not the entirety of it, so I just wanted to send you an ask because you’re the most, for lack of a better word, radical person that I am able to contact. Sorry if this is annoying.
Hi! I don’t think this is annoying and I actually think about these things a lot. 
Personally, I think my position as a poc and a jewish person has made me lean farther left but I totally understand that we don’t have all the same experiences and influences ect. 
Disclaimer: I'm probably going to be really bad at explaining this and articulating myself. You should probably ask someone else for a better explanation.
First of all, does the government really address hate crimes? Are they really punishing people for them? All I can remember is disappointment after disappointment as even blatantly obvious ones are ignored or severely under-penalized. I’m sure that they do sometimes but the system is so deeply racist that it’s not really happening. 
As for the government being taken down and society after and all that, that’s a really long and complicated topic and is really not going to work like that. What’s going to happen and is happening is anarchists just resisting power and most importantly building care systems for marginalized people and communities. People talk about ‘the Revolution” as some monolithic event that will be guns and bravery and all that jazz and that’s a fantasy. Anarchy isnt about a lawless society but more about: ‘’hey, when a few people are in charge of everyone else they invariably do shitty things to literally everyone! Thats really fucked up and I think that people should have decent lives and not be killed by oppressive systems of government! We should help people.’’ I’m pretty sure Marxists or someone like that are for government takeover or whatever but im not 100% sure on that. 
Second about the voting thing: i see a lot of anarchist blogs getting harassed for ‘’being anti-voting blah blah’’ but rather they did vote but 1) criticize politicians, especially the ones they are going to vote for and 2) acknowledged that a good deal more than voting is going to have to happen to change things, meaning direction action 
As for people saying they’re not going to vote if the candidate isn’t as left as they want or whatever: that’s just dumb. Vote for what you have and realize that voting is the most basic form of action but its gotta happen. Voting is what most people do and is what we do currently to switch out our officials.

two weeks after the start of hell on earth, a group of co-dependent seven young adults hit the road and leave the destruction behind. scared, tired, and just looking for a safe place to hide, they go on a road trip in the midst of summer, and find themselves in florida at a government-sanctioned refuge. with many questions left to be answered--the most importantly seemingly being what they saw on the road trip, and how the apocalypse started to begin with--the group must navigate the trusty waters of the unknown, for better or for worse.
when up against hellish beings, zombie-like creatures, and the government itself, will the group manage to survive? or will they succumb to the weight of the world on their shoulders?

☆ APRIL BROOKS: 21, bi, cis girl, biracial (half white/half mexican). she/her. manic, sarcastic, snarky, ex-bartender. although she seems really mean she’s actually super sweet and gentle; great with kids beneath her tough exterior. had a bad childhood but she doesn’t really show it. absolute punk aesthetic. loves dyed hair, has many piercings and tattoos. hardcore. adoptive mother to alexis brooks.
☆ ASHLEY YOUNG: 20, bi, cis girl, white. she/her. soft-hearted, gentle, sweet, and loyal. she was enrolled in college and working at a coffee shop as a barista. she doesn’t seem the type to swear, drink, smoke, or do drugs, but in this story, she does all of the above. traumatized and has Secrets. knows secrets too but she’s not a snitch. little sister to dannie. has a girlfriend named emily.
☆ FIONA YORK: 21, bi, cis girl, white. she/her. brutally honest, can be mean at times, but breaks down really easily. she’s quiet, adventurous, and driven. she’s flighty and doesn’t like being in the same place for a long time. tends to up and leave without any notice because she sucks at communicating. people rly either love or hate her. very flawed but honestly she’s trying ok. love interest is dannie.
☆ JACKIE VITSIN: 21, bi, cis girl, white. she/her. somehow super mean and super nice. she’s mostly just bitter and upset with herself half the time. very up in the clouds but not in a fun or quirky way, she’s just depressed and dissociating. she can be very cold and snappy but when she’s with someone she really bonds with, it’s not too hard for her to open up. was best friends with dannie when institutionalized, but bonded well with fiona too. love interest is piper.
☆ TUESDAY MCMILLAN: 23, bi, cis girl, biracial (half white/half mexican). she/her. she’s 100% the hippie of the friend group. very considerate and probably the most feminine besides ashley. she’s very sweet, open-minded, kind-hearted, and honest as fuck. she’ll be real with you when nobody else will, but also isn’t afraid to be nice about it. she loves a good social justice movement. including riots. loves conspiracy theories too but rarely believes them. honestly quite the skeptic but in a sexy dana scully kinda way. strong preference for girls. love interest is natalie, dannie’s childhood best friend.
☆ NATALIE THOMPSON: 23, bi, non-binary fem-leaning, white. she/they. resident art fanatic with a beautiful voice. she loves all kinds of alternative music and is great with a guitar. she’s very emotional, selfless, and loving. had a shitty ex-boyfriend who’s now dead but also we don’t talk about him )-: bc he kinda sucks. a lot. her art and poetry is great too, overall very artsy and meshes well with dannie and tuesday in particular. she’s extremely independent and a social butterfly. love interest is tuesday.
