Miguel thinks of you...
His stomach churns at the thought of you. You, a random citizen, he saves one day from a villian attack. Who says thank you when he drops you off on a nearby rooftop. All he tells you is to be careful before swooping down to continue his duty. He doesn't see you again after that.
At least until he saves you again almost a week later. From a building that was going to collapse. He recognizes you immediately when you say thank you again. Miguel was wondering if you were just unlucky, this being your second time in a dangerous situation. But you admit that you wanted to be there, so you could see him again.
Now he thinks you're crazy.
He unexpectedly snaps at you for putting yourself in harm's way. You try to convince him it was a good reason by showing him a large container filled with cookies. Saying that your words weren't enough to express your gratitude. He stares at the container, not sure what to think about the kind gesture. He likes cookies.
You say he can keep the container, implying that you have a bunch of them back home. Miguel didn’t know what to say after taking the container and thanking you. So he left. Once he got home, he enjoyed the misshapen treats, accidentally eating them all in one night. They were delicious.
He knew you said to keep the tupperware but it didn’t feel right keeping what was yours. Sadly, he had no way of communicating to you. Lyla suggested hacking into the cameras to look for you. Miguel didn’t want to do that. It was too creepy.
Instead, he looked for you. Hoping you didn’t stick yourself in another dangerous situation to get him to talk to you. He didn’t know whether to be flattered or concerned. Much to his luck, he managed to find you. Carrying bags of groceries in your arms.
His approach wasn’t the best when he suddenly plops down on the sidewalk to greet you.
“Hi.”
You jump at the appearance of the superhero but quickly compose yourself, “Oh, hi.”
“Need help with those?” He gestures towards your groceries.
“I’m fine.” You say, “You probably have important things to do.”
“I do.” Miguel starts, causing you to raise an eyebrow, “Like helping a citizen with their groceries.” He waits for you to answer, ignoring all of the passersby who gawk at his presence.
“Okay.”
Miguel picks you up with one hand, making sure you are secure. He swings you to your apartment and he tries not to laugh as you hold on tight, your face buried in his chest. He drops you off on the rooftop of your building. He gives you a minute to compose yourself from the new form of transportation as you still stick to his side for stability.
“I’ve saved you twice. I thought you’d be used to this by now.”
A breathy laugh escapes you, “The big difference between those times and now was the adrenaline.” Once you were good, he hands you the container that was inside a pack he was carrying. Your eyes lit up at the empty space, “Did you like them?”
“I did. Thank you.” His stomach twists at your smile. He’s now paying attention to the rise in his heartbeat and the sweat forming on his palms.
“I said you can keep the container though. You didn’t have to give it back to me.”
Miguel takes a step closer to you on his own, “I wanted to. Didn’t feel right to keep what was yours.”
“Or…” You take the container, a grin forming across your lips. “You want some more.”
It was his turn to laugh, “What kind of hero am I if I ask someone for more cookies?”
“A good one.” The look you give him makes him want to melt. Or run away. Why was he like this? “I don’t have a problem making more.” You place the container in one of your bags, “Do you have a preference?”
He rubs the back of his neck, “Those lemon sugar cookies were good…” He wanted to record the delightful sounds of your laugh so he could listen to it later.
“Okay, big guy. Same place tomorrow?”
“What, like a burning building?”
“No…” You point at the rooftop you two were standing on, “Here. I promise to not be in danger this time.”
“I’ll hold you to it.”
You gave him a wave of goodbye and he did the same before jumping off of the rooftop to see who else needed saving. He was looking forward to tomorrow so he could see you again.

i feel like the kbd girls would be absolutely over the moon about blue toilet water, steve’s little home improvement promotes him to coolest dad ever, and sweet bethie wants to invite her friend over to show off their cool blue toilet water
(i just remember thinking that was like the coolest thing ever as a kid)
Steve doesn’t hide his smile. “Girls, it’s not gonna be as exciting as you think it is.”
Avery, Beth, and Dove sit in a line on the bathroom floor, watching.
“It’s gonna be blue, dad,” Avery says. “That’s exciting.”
“Sort of weird having you all watch me clean the toilet.” He’d bleached and scrubbed and bleached again, and now he’s wiped down the tank and removed the lid, he’s peeling open the blister pack for the blue cistern tablets.
“Gross,” Bethie says with a wrinkled nose.
“It is kind of gross, but that’s why I clean it so much. Okay, are you guys ready? I’m gonna drop it in.”
They all stand at once to crowd him. Steve tosses a tablet into the cistern and grins as the water turns blue immediately. His fingers are stained with it. He replaces the lid and rinses his fingers before he forgets.
“Okay. Ready?”
They all agree in their ways. Avery slaps her hands together and nods, Bethie says, “Yeah!” and Dove attempts to climb his leg like a sloth up a tree trunk.
“Wait!” Bethie says, tapping Steve’s stomach and running out of the bathroom. Her feet thud across the landing and into your room.
She drags you into the bathroom by the hand. “Okay, now you can, dad!”
Steve meets your eyes. “You ready? This is about to change our lives.”
You look around the upstairs bathroom in surprise. “Woah, what happened in here? It looks like a hotel. Did you scrub the grout? Incredible.”
“Mom!” Avery yanks you by your shirt to the toilet. Too many people in one place, you smush in next to Steve and he gives you a flirty smile on instinct. “Dad, please do it. I can’t wait anymore.”
“It’s really gonna let you guys down.” Steve stands at full height and reaches for the flush.
He presses it. Blue water floods the bowl and, despite the girls having seen exactly how he managed it, they all gasp. Dove giggles wildly against his leg before she reaches her hand toward the water, fingers a hairs width from the bowl when you catch her and drag her up into your arms.
“Oh no no no,” you say sweetly, turning her to see everyone, “we can’t do that, can we? We don’t put our hands in the toilet.”
“Wow,” Beth says. “Wow. Dad, it’s magic. Now we can have blue pee.”
“That’s not how that works, bug.” Steve takes Beth by the shoulders for a quick squeeze, then touches Avery’s, trying to get them to move on.
“It’s really cool, I love it. Can we have other colours?” Avery asks. Dove squeals in your arms to be put down, but you’re tickling her sides in an attempt to appease her.
“I’ve only seen blue ones,” Steve says, reluctant to let her down.
Avery looks exactly like him as she frowns. “Oh.”
“Can I ask Francesca to come?” Beth asks suddenly, nudging Avery out of the way to look up at him. “Please, dad, can she come look? It’s amazing.”
“Oh, honey, I think Francesca’s probably seen it before. But we can still ask her tomorrow if she wants to come over, okay? When the rest of the house is clean, not just the bathroom.”
“Fat chance,” you interject quickly, snorting.
“Excuse me?” Steve asks.
You laugh again and dive away as he pokes your side. “Get away from me, freak. I almost dropped my baby.”
“I can clean this whole house top to bottom in a day. I could do it in my sleep,” Steve says.
“Sure thing, honey.”
Avery pokes you in the stomach. “Not nice, mom.”
“Not nice, mom,” Steve parrots, grinning. “Wow, look at that. This blue toilet water brought us all together.”

She tried, she really did. But her boss was relentless, he was not letting her take a day off, not even a few hours. So here she was sitting in her office when her boyfriend was playing in game seven of round two of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
She knew how nervous he was before the game having called him on her break. She had to calm him down before he left for the arena. Without Brock, she knew this game would be harder than the previous ones.
By some miracle she was able to make it back to their apartment for the third period, it was around 8 when it started. She sat on their couch, still working but mostly watching the TV that splayed the game across it. She felt as if she was sitting on edge the whole time.
As the clock ticked down, she only grew more nervous and anxious, wanting nothing more than for them to at least score a goal. Her knee bounced up and down, her laptop completely abandoned on the other side of the couch. She breathed a small sigh of relief once they got the power play.
The first goal they scored, she all but jumped off of the couch. Taking a deep breath and clapping her hands, she sat back down and watched the game intently, thanking Connor as much as she could. And then Fil scored too. She smiled a little bit of hope making its way back into her body.
A lonely tear slid down her face as the final seconds came to an end. She watched as their camera panned to all of their faces and she broke when she saw the look on Quinn’s. He had worked so hard for this, overworked himself until he passed out on the couch. He didn’t deserve this, none of them did.
She made quick work of making him something to eat, her homemade chicken noodle soup that always seemed to cheer him up. She knew that there was a good chance that he wouldn’t eat it, probably have little to no appetite at all, but if he didn’t, they could heat it up tomorrow.
When she finished making it, she let it sit on the stove, keeping it warm for when he arrived home. She moved to the couch to continue working, occasionally getting up to stir the pot.
She didn’t know how long it had been until Quinn got home, she only knew when she heard the door clock open and the sound of keys clattering on the counter shook her from her working state. She stood up and walked over to him but halted once she saw him holding his hand up, “I- I’m going to go shower.”
She nodded and reached her hand out to at least give him a reassuring touch but he shied away from it, making his way to their bedroom. She wasn’t sure how much more heartbreak she could take from him. She heard the shower turn on a couple minutes later and she didn’t know what else to do. She went back to work, hoping Quinn would be done soon and come out to at least sit with her.
Yet, after thirty minutes there was no sign of him. The water had turned off about ten minutes ago so she knew he was at least out of the shower, the bathroom not so much. She set her computer off to the side, making her way into their bedroom. She found him sitting there at the edge of the bed, his hands clutching one of his shirts. She walked over and kneeled behind him on the bed, wrapping her right arm around him and her left hand moved to rub up and down his arm.
She lightly kissed the side of his cheek and waited for him to say something. He whispered something but she wasn’t sure what he had exactly said. She moved to situate herself so she was sitting more comfortably before leaning in to hear him better, “Hmm?”
“Why does it hurt so much?”
She frowned at his words, her left hand now clutching his left one, “Because that’s your team, Quinny. Because you’re the captain and you feel like you let them down. But I’m going to tell you right now that you are in no way shape or form to blame here.”
He shook his head, trying to move away from her. He was afraid that if she was around him too much he would let her down too, afraid that he had already let her down. Her grip tightened around him causing him to stay in place. Finally, he broke.
He buried his head into her chest, wrapped his arms around her waist, and sobbed into her chest. She ran her fingers through his hair, occasionally kissing the top of his head. She held in her own tears, not trying to give him another thing to worry about.
As his tears slowed, he moved his head away and wiped the remnants of them from his cheeks. He locked eyes with her and for the first time that night, he allowed himself to truly relax. She ran another hand through his hair and smiled softly at him, “What’re you thinking about?”
“That I’m really glad I have you.” He reached out to hold her hand, gripping it tightly.
“And I am really really glad to have you, Quinner. Nothing is ever going to change how proud I am of you. You led this team to the second round of the  playoffs in your first year as captain, you did amazing.”
He smiled at her which caused her to smile again as well. He hugged her tightly once more before mumbling, “I smelt chicken noodle soup.”
She laughed, “Of course you did. Made it right after the game finished. You want some?”
He nodded and stood up, holding his hand out for her to take. They ate in silence, occasionally looking up to sneak glances at one another. She did the dishes as Quinn made his way back to their room to settle himself into bed. She joined him a few minutes later, clad in one of his sweatshirts and the first pair of pajama pants she found.
She kissed him before snuggling into his side, “I’m so proud of you, Quinny.”
His eyes glassed over a little as he leaned down a little to kiss her head, “Thank you.”

neighbor!chris x reader part 7
a/n; not text messages yet yall we're getting there, part 6 here
You
You watched him approach you, an expression on his face that told you everything you needed to know. He had forgotten about you, and remembered too late. That was your given conclusion the moment you saw him clutter onto the beach.
When you first went in the water, got carried away for half an hour in the water and came out, expecting him to be there, you didn't find him. You checked your phone to make sure if he had sent a message or something, he hadn't even opened your previous message asking if he was there. Hurt pooled up in your stomach, but a part of you wanted to reassure itself for the better. I threw your phone back to its spot on the towel-covered sand, your emotions quickly replacing itself with anger, and you went for another dive in the ocean.
Now you dried your legs, looking back onto your body as if you truly cared about getting yourself dry as Chris marched toward you. "Hey!" He jogged over, a nervous look on his face as he calculated your mood. "I know I'm late but we can still make time for—"
"I'm surprised you showed up at all." You interrupt, your tongue bittersweet in your mouth. "I was gonna come–I swear–but I just got so caught up with everything." Chris winces, knowing he'd have to try harder than that. You scan him up and down, he looked normal, like every other day he'd pass by your house or stalk past your window. "I'm sure you were, Chris." You sigh, slipping on your clothes over your bathing suit. You don't bother hiding the fact you were upset, but at the same time, you didn't quite show it. It drove him nuts.
"I'm sorry, I came as soon as I could–"
"Did you though?" You wonder out loud, getting ready to leave as he stood there, watching you. "This was the first time we actually wanted to hang out together, just want to point that out." You laugh a little.
You hear him ramble in your ear, and in all honesty, you tune him out, walking past him as he follows you behind like a dog. He gave every excuse he could think of, but truly, you hadn't heard a single word. "Look, Chris." You turn to face him after he trails behind you a little longer. "It's okay. I forgive you." You forgave him, shit happens, but that doesn't mean you weren't still salty about it.
"Really?" His eyes widened, like he didn't take you for the kind of girl to forgive so fast.  You nod. "Yeah." But nothing in your tone seemed sincere, negative feelings started to erupt in Chris's stomach, and he couldn't quite decipher what they were. You watched him gulp.
"How about we come again? Tomorrow? This time we'll both be free with no work and, this time I could pick you up instead— Take you there myself." He plans out loud, and you audibly sigh. "I have work tomorrow, how about just take me home instead? That's all I want."
And that's what he did.
He took you to Matt's car, and you sat in the passenger seat as they drove you home in silence. Chris sat in the back with Nick as he kept glancing back at you, trying to make something out of your expression. You had a good poker face.
Nick kept studying the atmosphere of the energy that had appeared the moment you two had entered, and immediately knew there was negative tension. He gave Matt a look from the rear mirror, and they shared an understanding. Something was wrong.
You weren't dumb, you were aware that Chris kept bouncing his leg behind you in nervousness, you knew that he kept looking at you and burning holes into your skin, so did his brother that accompanied him in the back. Thankfully, they didn't decide to ask a single thing, keeping the talk small, short, and sweet. You had gotten close to all of them since you moved, but you knew you'd still have to go a long way before they were fully loose around you.
"Were the waves bad today? I've been wanting to go to the beaches here but never came around to doing it." Matt randomly asks as he makes a left. He really just wanted to squash down the awkward silence with anything, and Nick mentally applauded him for it. You took the hint and responded.
"They were huge, I almost drowned today but I thugged it out." You laugh at the memory that was only a few minutes ago, thankfully you were a strong swimmer. They took note of your light-hearted attempt at humor and ran with it, the attempt working completely. "Really? I thought the waves here were like, calm as fuck." Nick stated.
"I wouldn't know," You run a hand through your dampened sea-salted hair. "It was my first time going to the beaches here."
"We're actually still yet to go to them, a whale washed up on shore a few months ago and that kind of scared us off." Nick openly laughed at the irony of the reason, and you chuckled with him.
The rest of the car ride was dreadful for Chris, you engaged with all of his brothers in a conversation but him. He could help but feel bad—and jealous. He knew he had brought it on to himself, and he'd need to find a way to make it up, fast.
But now, he'd have to face a really loud conversation with his brothers, who decided to corner him as soon as they made it home.

Touching their weak spot
-Part 2-
INCLUDING: GOJO, GETO and NANAMI
ALSO SURGESSTIVE.
Tumblr media
~Gojo~
"I'm not gonna hurt you pookie, just turn your infinity off" You said smiling.
"Uh nope. Nuh uh you called me pookie, somethings up." Gojo said somewhat afraid for the first time in his life, he came home from a mission only to sense you from behind him.
"Look Satoru you've been gone for so longgggg I miss you so muchhhh."
"Its been 2 hours-"
"Aww and i'm touch starved, turn the damn infinity off."
"Baby I love you but your scaring me"
In reality you were no competition, you knew if you fought Gojo you would lose. Unless you pulled your special move.
"You know what? forget it." You said walking out the room leaving him confused.
Not even a second after there was a loud crashing sound from your direction, he panicked and rushed into the room.
There you were on the floor, seemingly unconscious, flower vase knocked over with shards of it everywhere. Flowers and petals alike scattered around the ground.
"Y/N?" Gojo said rushing to you and elevating your upper body, looking for injuries.
You opened your eyes and dramatically gasped for air before mouthing words.
"What, wait Y/n I can't hear you"
He leaned his head in closer to hear you whiper.
"Gottcha"
"Hu-AHH"
You had took the opportunity to glide your fingertips down the back of his neck.
"So you did really miss me huh?" He said with a smirk while you repaired the vase with your cursed technique.
"Not as much as you miss me" you said feeling something hard on your lower back.
It wasn't his hand or leg.
-Geto-
"Suguruuuuu" you whinned while throwing your arms around his neck from behind.
"Your so busy with work and missions all the time , spend some time with meee."
No response.
"Suguruuuuu pleaseee"
Still no response. You hummed in disappointment. He left you no choice but to do that.
You put your lips right behind his ear and whispered to him.
"God, Suguru I'm so lonley." And topped it off with a small sigh.
His body shuttered.
You felt his ear heat up against your lips and before you knew it you got his attention for sure.
"Your so needy" he said lifting you up and placing you on the couch.
His hands slowly went up your thighs until they reached the hem of your skirt.
"I told you not to go there, remember? Can't keep myself restrained if your going to keep going on like this ya' know."
"Whatcha doing Suguru?" You hummed as your eyes patiently locked with his.
"Whatever you want~"
•Nanami•
"Ken, you looked stressed" you said standing nexted to the very exhausted Nanami.
First he had to work over time, then he came home late and now he has to do all this paperwork by tomorrow without getting distracted by his very pretty wife.
"Mhm, I am." He hummed, turning the page over to finalise everything.
"You should have a break. It's not good on your health to be that stressed." You sighed
"I have to get this done now or I'll be behind in all my work y/n, I can't kust have a break."
"Not even for me?" You asked brushing your lips against his neck and loosening his tie slowly.
His breath hitched as your gentle lips only grazed his skin. His heart burst and he couldn't keep his composite any longer.
"Well that's another story." He said pulling you by your hips and guiding you onto an empty spot on your desk.
You pulled his tie to bring his lips closer and he pushed the paper work off the desk while he felt another hand play with him belt buckel.
"You really know how to deal with stress huh?"
"I don't know, let's find out."

It was finally spring, a time where flowers bloomed and the snow melted away to reveal all kinds of herbs and plants for the little witch (Name) to gather.
Today she was doing just that, gathering herbs to begin making more potions. Through the winter, her stock of salves and potions had grown smaller and smaller, until she only had a few left.
(Name) had customers that would be coming by any day now to buy her goods, so she was determined to go out and hunt for all the ingredients she would need.
She was a good witch, focusing on healing salves and helping the villagers nearby. It was partially out of the goodness of her heart, and partly because she wanted to keep a good relationship with the townspeople so they didn’t grab their pitchforks and torches to chase her out of town with.
So (Name) grabbed her hat, wearing a thick pair of boots to protect her feet from the thorny vegetation. She was always careful when visiting the forest. After all, there were rumors that many magical beasts made it their home.
Along the path, she spotted small clusters of mint, frowning. “Mint is so invasive, I thought I told the villagers not to plant it in the ground…”
(Name) did her best to dig up and pick what she could, then moved on along the path. Mushrooms, herbs, and pretty rocks all found a new home in her basket. After searching for a while, she wiped the sweat from her brow. ‘Hmm… I should still have some time to go by the lake before I go home… I wonder if anything is growing near the water's edge..?’
(Name) stepped on a branch as she neared the lake, ready to search for aquatic plant life and maybe even find a good spot to go fishing!
But before she could get too close, (Name) heard a loud howl that made her freeze in her tracks. When she turned, she spotted it.
There was a large, golden wolf near the water’s edge, its ears pinned back and snarling. From the water dripping from its furry chin, the witch assumed it had just been drinking from the lake before she interrupted it by making noise.
She was quick to hold up her hands in a sign of surrender, talking in an even voice. “Easy, boy, I’ll go,”
Backing up slowly, (Name) made sure not to meet the wolf’s eyes, though she did notice they were a sparkling shade of scarlet she had never seen before.
The beast huffed, watching her for a moment longer before turning back to drink. Once it did, she broke out in a sprint, her basket held firmly against her chest. (Name) knew the forest wasn’t exactly safe, but she had never encountered a wild animal besides some chipmunks and bunnies.
‘I’ve never seen a wolf with that coloration before…’ (Name) thought, putting away her foraged goods once she arrived home. ‘Maybe it’s an albino or something? But wouldn’t it’s fur be more white then?’
Despite being a little afraid, (Name) couldn’t get her mind off of the wolf she had seen before. It was easily the top predator in the forest, yet it only gave her a warning growl before minding its business again. Was that normal wolf behavior? She had no idea.
‘I’m thinking too much…’ (Name) thought, changing into her pajamas. ‘I need to sleep, or I’ll be late to the coven meeting tomorrow…’
Turning over, (Name) wondered what exactly she would even speak about during the meeting. She wasn’t exactly the most confident witch, often being spoken over or ignored due to her shy nature. No one would think she was the very first apprentice Biscuit Krueger, the head of the very coven (Name) was a part of.
‘I may have been her first apprentice, but I’m definitely not her best. Gon and Killua have me beat for sure…’ she thought, rolling over onto her side to stare out of the window.
Through the gaps in the curtains, she could see the moon shining up above, big and full. It’s light bathed her in a soft glow, and made her feel both rejuvenated and relaxed.
‘It’ll be okay… after all, I have friends there. Everything should… be fine…’
(Name) drifted off to sleep, the last image on her mind before she was taken to slumberland being the golden wolf peering at her with those scarlet eyes.
—————
(Name) packed a small basket full of jams and jellies, humming a tune as she carefully stacked a small jar of syrup on the top. “I know Menchi won’t be there to day, but Bisky loves my jams and jellies. Hopefully I’ll actually have a chance to speak with her…”
Bisky, being the head of the coven, was always busy. She was usually stuck talking with several other witches about various topics, or leaving early to conduct business with other covens. Getting the opportunity to talk to her was rare enough, but being able to sit down and have a conversation was nearly impossible, especially these days.
There had recently been several cases of witches and their familiars disappearing, or even familiars turning in their masters and killing then, so Bisky was especially busy dealing with the aftermath.
Each witch had a familiar bestowed upon them during a ceremony after becoming a full fledged witch. Some even had two or three, and witches with high status and great power possessed up to 10 familiars.
And there was (Name), with no familiar at all. At the ceremony, the wizard conducting it simply turned her away, saying she was not yet ready to become the master of familiar. Every other witch present had received their lifelong friend, while she went home empty handed.
It was lonely, all on her own. Watching the other witches go about their lives with the help and support of their familiars made her feel awfully… jealous. It wasn’t a feeling she enjoyed harboring, so (Name) tried her best to be positive!
Bisky herself had said that it wasn’t unheard of for a witch to not receive their familiar during the bonding ceremony.
“Some witches just haven’t found their match yet, or perhaps they haven’t really found their true selves,” Bisky had said after the ceremony, in hopes of comforting (Name).
(Name) huffed, loading her basket onto her broom. “So much for being a late bloomer. It’s been nearly five years since I became a full fledged witch, and still nothing! No familiar, not a cat or owl, not even a frog! Hell, I’d settle for a tarantula at this point!”
She flew over the forest, tilting her head when she spotted a spot of gold walking slowly near the lake. (Name) flew a bit lower, her eyes widening when she spotted the same wolf she’d seen the day before.
This time, it seemed to be walking with a bit of a limp, a small trail of blood behind it. Her heart ached to see an animal in such pain, so she landed a safe distance away from it.
“Hey there, pup.”
The wolf stiffened, quickly turning its head to growl lowly at her. (Name) held up her hands, her broom floating behind her in case she needed a quick escape.
“Woah, easy. You’re hurt, and I can help you if you’ll let me.”
She didn’t know why she was talking to it, but she kept it up. “There’s no need to be afraid, sweetheart. Shh…”
The wolf’s ears flattened against its head, and it began to bare its teeth. (Name) yelped when it began to approach her, jumping on her broom just in time to escape its jaws. It snapped at her broom bristles, but she was thankfully in the air by then and bar away enough from its jaws to not get hurt.
But… the wolf didn’t seem to be trying too hard to chase her. (Name) had a feeling it wasn’t actually attacking her, more so just trying to scare her away.
She frowned as the wolf became a small speck, her heart hurting for the poor thing. (Name) hoped that the poachers that her fellow witches had chased out from the forest years ago weren’t back.
‘I’ll have to talk to Bisky about it… if I can talk to her that is.’
—————
(Name) landed in a vast meadow, wild flowers of various kinds softly swaying in the spring breeze. She took a moment to relax, bending down to pick a daily and place it in her basket.
‘Oh, I always forget where the doorway is…’ she thought to herself as she held out the stick end of her broom to feel around. When it bumped off of something solid, she grinned.
“There it is!”
(Name) reached forward and patted the surface until her hand landed on a doorknob. She turned it, and walked forward.
The empty flower field was replaced with a dark forested area, with lampposts leading down a snowy, worn down path. She could see the moon shining down through the canopy, filtered by the thick leaves until only small rays of light were visible.
‘I see the meeting is being hosted in the northern lands this time…’ she thought, pulling her cloak tighter around herself. The northern lands were often cold, even when spring came, snow still covered the land.
Each meeting was hosted in one of the four sectors of the world, North, South, East, and West. The north was her least favorite, due to the cold weather and people. The citizens of the north were often blunt and rude, having to time for warm pleasantries.
(Name) lived in the southern lands, where the weather was always warm and pleasant. Even the most severe winters in the south were not as cold as the northern spring.
She spotted the soft warm glow of a candle shining from a canon window. ‘There it is!’
(Name) opened the cabin door, revealing a bustling meeting hall. Witches all ages and genders walked around, speaking to one another and trading goods.
“(Name)!”
The woman yelped when she was tackled to the floor, knowing instantly who had done it.
“Gon, what did I tell you about jumping on her like some wild animal!?”
“Gon, Killua…” she smiled as she watched Killua drag his friend off of her, pinching his cheek.
“Hi, (Name)! It’s been so long since we’ve gotten to see you!”
She laughed, ruffling their hair. “Yeah, nearly three months. You weren’t able to attend the last few meetings due to Bisky’s training, right?”
The two shuddered. “Uh… we’d rather not talk about that.”
(Name) could remember her own training, which would have been way less intense than theirs due to her weaker body. Even so, she collapsed nearly every day from exhaustion, so she could only imagine the horrors they had endured.
“Ah… okay, how about you show me how your training has been coming along then?”
The three sat in an empty room as the two showed her new, complex spells they had learned. Killua was able to summon lightning and use it as a weapon, while Gon was able to harden his body. Both were spells even she couldn’t do.
“Oh wow, you’ve grown so much! Maybe that training was worth it then?”
Killua groaned. “Barely, I didn’t think we were going to survive another day of it.”
“Aww, it wasn’t that b- no, actually it was that bad. But I’m still grateful Bisky taught us so well!” Gon replied, giving her a smile.
She gave them both a hug. “I’m proud of you both. You should really come visit me sometime. Spring is here, so you can go play in the forest. There a lake~”
This excited the two, who both enjoyed swimming. “We'll definitely be coming by this summer!”
Before they could speak anymore, they heard a bell chiming. “Oh, we’ll talk later. The meeting is about to start!”
(Name) took her seat near Bisky. As her first apprentice, she had to be at Bisky’s side for every meeting. That didn’t mean she got Bisky’s attention, though. She couldn’t blame her mentor, for she was the leader of this coven.
“Hello, my friends. Our monthly meeting has begun, and I will announce any upcoming events before opening the floor for discussion.”
(Name) looked around the room, unsurprised when she saw multiple witches waiting impatiently for the floor to be open.
It was mostly the same elderly witches that always had some mundane problem… but what was surprising was Neon, one of the fledgling witches that hadn’t yet gotten her familiar, anxiously tapping her well manicured nails against the oak table.
“And with that, the floor is open to discussion.” Bisky said after finishing her announcements. Neon was quick to speak up, interrupting an elder.
“Some creature has been lurking in the south, killing my father’s livestock and scaring what it doesn’t eat half to death! It’s some kind of magical beast, I already did the identifying spell and it’s either some type of fae or a…”
She trailed off, her face going pale. Bisky raised an eyebrow, folding her arms. “A what, Neon?”
“A… a werewolf.”
The sound of gasps and whispered conversation filled the meeting hall, only silenced when Bisky held up her hand to motion for the noise to cease.
“And you’re sure that’s what the spell said?”
Neon nodded, standing up to offer her grimoire. Bisky’s eyes scanned it, then she sighed heavily. “I see…”
(Name) frowned deeply, glancing from Neon to Bisky. She knew that Neon lived only half a day’s walk from her home, meaning if there was a werewolf causing trouble for her, it could potentially move onto (Name).
“As we all know, magical beasts are drawn to witches due to their magical power. This is good when it comes to making friends or getting a familiar, but leads to some… detrimental outcomes when the wrong creature gets attracted. And with the recent uptick in werewolf based attacks, I wouldn’t doubt this has troubled you, Neon.”
Bisky stood, walking around the table. “But be that as it may, werewolves are not evil in nature. They are simply beings that are different from us, and can be reasoned with and befriended just like most magical beasts.”
One witch scoffed. “Miss Bisky, with all due respect, all witches know werewolves are dangerous beasts that deserve to be put down to keep ourselves safe. I mean, haven’t the last three witch deaths been caused by werewolves?”
Bisky scowled. “That’s the kind of attitude that causes entire species to go extinct. A few werewolves have done wrong, yes, but how many humans have killed each other or other creatures? Do we all deserve to die due to the actions of a few individuals?”
The witch who spoke up immediately shrunk into herself, grumbling under her breath. (Name) noticed that several other witches also looked displeased with Bisky’s words, but said nothing.
“Neon, I’ll send you home with a spell that will ward off any fae or werewolves. It’s easy, and very effective.”
“Thank you, Bisky!”
The woman turned to the rest of the coven. “Now, what else needs to be discussed?”
———————-
“I respect Miss Bisky’s opinion, but werwolves are dangerous beasts!”
“I know, right? My friend’s cousin’s aunt’s stepbrother was killed by a werewolf!”
“And I heard that once a werewolf has seen you, it’ll tell its whole pack to come and eat you!”
“Oh that’s not the half of it! I heard-“
(Name) rolled her eyes as she passed by a group of gossiping witches, ushering Killua and Gon away. “Don’t listen to them, I’m sure not a single one of them have ever even seen a werewolf in person.”
“Have you, (Name)?”
(Name) paused when Gon asked her that innocent question, sighing softly. “Yes, once before. It was only for a moment while Bisky went to meet with one for a trade. It gave her some of its fur for a potion in exchange for a protection spell.”
“So… it didn’t attack you or Bisky?”
“Nope, so don’t listen to those witches. Not one single creature is the exact same as its kin. Some are more peaceful, some are violent, just like with humans. Once people come to accept that, we could possibly form an alliance with the werewolves.”
Killua huffed, digging in her satchel. Once he found what he was looking for, a bag of handmade candy, he swiped it. “Hey, you remembered to bring it!”
“Of course I did, silly. It’s your favorite.”
Killua popped one of the candies into his mouth as they walked, humming in delight. Gon grabbed one too. “Did you get to talk to Bisky, (Name)?”
The woman sighed, handing out her jam and syrup to a few witches she traded with. “Not yet, but I hope I’ll be able to catch her before she leaves. You know Bisky, she’s always busy.”
“You’re not wrong, but today I have a little bit of time to spare.”
The three jumped when they heard Bisky’s voice from behind them. “Bisky!”
(Name) jumped into her arms, easily being held up by the seemingly young looking girl. Everyone in the coven knew that Bisky was much older than she seemed, but little knew of her immense physical strength.
“Oh, (Name) my dear, you’ve gotten a bit bigger haven't you? It feels like just yesterday I was carrying you home from the orphanage and giving you your first wand.”
“B-Bisky! That’s embarrassing…”
The woman laughed, setting (Name) down. “Alright, alright… what is it you wanted to talk about, dear?”
(Name) gave Bisky a shy smile, handing her the jams and jellies she brought for her. “I wanted to give your u these and ask how the situation with the rogue familiars has been going.”
Bisky stiffened, glancing to the two boys before digging. “Come, (Name). Let’s discuss things in private.”
With a wave of her wand, (Name) and Bisky were transported to a vacant room. Bisky made sure the door was closed before beginning to speak in a hushed voice.
“I didn’t want to scare anyone, so I’ve been keeping some of the information private. But…” she sighed, looking out the window, into the snow. “Every single familiar that attacked their witch was a werewolf.”
(Name)’s blood ran cold at the revelation, her eyes widening as Bisky turned to meet her gaze. “Every single one? That’s…”
“Unusual, I know. Werewolves in and of themselves are rare to have as a familiar because they’re reluctant to be bound to a witch… so the fact that each familiar was a werewolf is suspicious.”
“What could be the motive? I find it hard to believe a familiar would just kill its master like that! In all of witch history, I’ve never heard of such a thing.”
Bisky opened her own grimoire. “I agree with you, it is hard to believe. But the detection spell pointed to each familiar being a werewolf. We have yet to find and question any of the suspects due to them fleeing the scene once the bond to their master was broken…”
(Name) frowned deeply. “And with what Neon said today, if this news got out, the entire coven will be in hysterics. There will be werewolf hunts and-“
“That’s why they can’t find out. You are the only person outside of my trusted inner circle that knows of this, (Name).”
She looked at Bisky, confused. “But why would you tell me, Bisky? I’m not as strong or intelligent as others, so why would you give me this information and not someone more qualified?”
Bisky smiled at that, chuckling. “That, I cannot say my dear. You are destined for great things, and I just want you to be informed so when it’s time for you to make decisions… you’ll have all the information you need to make the right choice.”
“That’s really cryptic, Bisky.”
The older woman only smiled, beckoning her to follow. “Come, I must take my leave. Let’s walk and talk.”
The two continued to chat as they walked towards the entrance of the cabin. “I’ll send you home with a spell, dear. It is quite late in the southerners sector by now, hmm?”
(Name) nodded, grabbing hold of her broom.
“Oh, and (Name)?”
She looked up as Bisky raised her wand. “Yes?”
“Kindness and patience is always key.”
With that, she was sent home. She appeared in her cottage, the fire lighting the second she stepped close.
“I wonder what she meant by that…”
———————
(Name) brushed off her dress, staring out into the forest. She really had to go back into the forest to gather supplies… but she was worried she would encounter that wolf again.
With a sigh, she pocketed her wand and carried her broom. They were just there in case she sensed any danger. Unfortunately, she wasn’t great with defensive or attack spells, it was why she took to healing magic and concoctions instead.
But she knew a few illusion spells that may buy her some time to escape… hopefully those would work.
(Name) walked along the work down path, much more alert than usual. She listened for the sounds of the forest, making sure to listen for any branches snapping or leaves rustling.
She was able to make it back to the lake with no problems, sighing in relief. There, she unloaded her jars from her basket and began placing shells, underwater plantlife, and some of the nutrient rich soil to add to her garden.
Unbeknownst to her, she was being watched from a distance, a pair of scarlet eyes following her as she walked along the lake’s edge.
Once she finished, (Name) was surprised to see the wolf with the golden coat standing only a few meters away from her. Although it growled when she moved, it made no other signs of aggression, only watching her… as if it was curious.
“Hello, again…” (Name) said softly, staying still as it approached. She kept her hand in her pocket on her wand, but began to relax. It only circled her, chuffing when it moved behind her.
She tensed, but relaxed again when it appeared on her left side. It was inspecting her, sniffing her… was that normal behavior for a wild animal?
Its scarlet eyes focused on her, and she noticed it still had that slight limp when it walked. “Are you… injured?”
As if it could understand her, the creature tensed, the fur on its back rising. “Oh, I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to upset you…”
Taking a chance, she slowly reached out her hand to place it on its head. She had a connection with animals, having rehabilitated many woodland creatures. A wolf couldn’t be that different, right?
Well, she was wrong. The beast growled before snapping its jaws at her hand, barely missing her fingers. It then ran away, slower than it usually would be due to its injured paw.
Her heart hurt from the sight. Had it been trying to ask her for help? It was possible the poor thing was someone’s pet that had been let go after learning how hard it was to take care of a wolf. Maybe that’s why it was both comfortable around humans and also weary of them?
(Name) made a decision that day. She would gain that wolf’s trust, and maybe… even make it her familiar.
———————
As the days turned into weeks, (Name) visited the forest every day she could. She saw the wolf often, sometimes from the corner of her eye, and sometimes it came in direct contact with her.
She always sat patiently, letting it come to her. (Name) had learned her lesson, and eventually she was able to sit in silence with the wolf by her side as she did mundane tasks like cleaning out her jars or sewing by the lake.
It had yet to let her touch it, but she didn’t mind. She would get it to trust her… it needed medical attention, more than she thought. It was scrawny, hungry looking, as if it was having trouble hunting by itself.
She started bringing out raw meat from the market and leaving it by the lake for it, and when its condition started to improve slowly, she knew that it was eating.
Once she started feeding it, the wolf began trusting her a great deal more. It now followed her down the pathway when she walked home, a slight sway in its tail.
She was making great progress, and the two seemed to have a mutual trust that neither would hurt the other. Every time she came to the lake, it was waiting there for her. It would eat, then sit nearby as she did what she needed to do, then walked her home. It had become her routine.
That’s why it surprised her when it wasn’t there when she came.
“Pup?”
(Name) called for it, patting her thigh and whistling. Usually it would have come to greet her by now…
The silence in the forest was almost eerie, as if everything was holding its breath. There was no birdsong, no squirrels skittering from tree to tree… just silence.
“Something is wrong…”
It was growing dark, and she was hurrying back as quickly as she could. (Name) had heard from some other forest dwelling witches that when the sounds of the forest stopped, that meant there was a large predator around, something that made the squirrels and birds hide in fear.
Had the wolf gone into hiding too?
She didn’t have to wonder for long. As she neared her cottage, her eyes widened in horror. There were bloodied paw prints leading down the stone path to her front door, and laying on her doorstep was the golden wolf.
It panted loudly, its fur matted with blood. (Name) immediately kneeled at its side, trying to hold back tears. The injured paw was trapped in a bear trap, and it had gashed on its belly and back… as it had been attacked with a knife…
When it growled at her touch, she simply shushed it. “Shh, shh, I’m here. You came to my home for a reason, right? I can help you…”
Although it still snarled and yelped as she hoisted it into her home with great effort, it made no attempts to sink its teeth into her flesh.
As soon as it was inside, she summoned as many bandages as she could, along with a metal bar to help her pry the bear trap off.
“This is going to hurt, pup. Don’t bite me…”
The wolf laid its head down, as if telling her it trusted her to help. It growled and snarled in pain as she pried open the bear trap. Once its paw was free, she examined the damage.
His paw was barely hanging on… thankfully she focused on healing magic. She was able to reattach his paw and clean the wound, bandaging it before moving onto the gashed on his body.
(Name) collapsed in exhaustion after hours of working on the wolf. Her efforts had paid off, as it was now sleeping peacefully by the fire.
‘At least one of us is able to sleep…’ she thought, rising from the couch to wash the blood from her hands. She’s exhausted all of her magic saving the wolf’s life, which worried her slightly. That meant if it were to attack for any reason, she wouldn’t be able to defend herself.
After much thought, she realized that even if it wanted to hurt her, it would be unable. The thing couldn’t stand, much less leap out and attack her, so she decided to sleep next to it… just to watch over it, of course… the fact that it was so soft and warm had nothing to do with it…
———————-
(Name) woke up in the early hours of the morning, the sun not even up yet. She could have only been asleep for a few hours, as the fire was still going…
She sat up, yawning and rubbing her eyes… but paused when she took a second look at the fire.
She hasn’t remembered putting that second log in the fireplace… before she slept, she had even cursed herself for not doing so.
(Name) felt a chill run up her spine and immediately turned to see if the wolf was okay… but instead of seeing its beautiful golden fur and large form m, she was met with something much smaller hidden under the blanket…
Smaller, but still bigger than her, whatever it was wriggled the second she spoke. “U-um…”
She expected the wolf to perhaps be some kind of magical beast that turned into something smaller when injured to conserve power… and she wasn’t that far off.
When she pulled back the blanket, instead of a furred creature, she came face to face with a handsome… man?
“… hello…”
For finding a man in the place of the injured wolf she saved, (Name) took the situation well. And by well, she screamed and scooted away, wielding her wand.
“W-who are you and what did you do to that wolf!? Are you some kind of poacher? A pervert? A poaching pervert!?”
The person squinted at her, sighing. “No… I’m neither of those… I-“
He winced in pain, whimpering as the blanket fell around him. (Name)’s eyes went wide as she saw the bandages decorating his form, the same ones she had applied to the wolf last night…
The things that finally clued her in were the wolf ears perched atop of his blonde head, and tail limp on his back.
“Y-you’re…”
“A werewolf…” he muttered, his ears flattening against his head. “You… helped me, and… I understand if you no longer want to help now that you know what I am. I simply ask that… you let me recover until I am able to move…”
She swallowed, shaking her head. “It doesn’t matter what you are. You’re hurt, and I won’t let you suffer.”
The man looked on in mild shock as she helped him onto the couch. “This should be more comfortable… I’ll need to redo your bandages soon…”
The man watched her work silently. She redressed his wounds with a skill that was uncommon for women in their era. Once she was done, it was only then that her eyes trailed down his torso to look for anything else that she may have missed when his thick fur was in the way…
“Oh.”
Her face warmed, her eyes going wide.
He was completely and utterly nude, barely covering his groin with the blanket. His wolf ear twitched as she turned away, flustered.
‘I forgot, werewolves lose their clothing when they turn…’
For now, she simply covered him with a blanket, too tired to do anything else. With that, she left him to sleep on the couch and headed to bed.
‘What am I going to do? There’s a werewolf on my couch, right after Neon mentioned one eating her livestock. Is it the same one..? Could it… be connected to the familiars going rogue?’
She sighed, pulling the blanket up to her chin. ‘Well, whatever the case is, it’s my responsibility now. I decided to save its life, and I don’t regret it. Once it’s back to full health, I’ll think of what to do…’
With that decided, she drifted off to sleep, exhausted from her long day.
———————
In the living room, the werewolf stared up at the ceiling, his head filled with the images of the events he had been through.
‘I thought they lost my trail… those damn poachers will do anything to complete their collection…’
His heart ached to think of his clan, their coats skinned from their bodies after they were forced to transform and fight each other for their captors’ amusement. It made his blood boil to think of how scared the pups must have been, how the elders must have died comforting them with their final breaths, just for all of their words to mean nothing in the end.
He hated humans and their endless lust for money and power. For years he had avoided human contact, stued in his wolf form and attacked anyone that came near in fear of being hurt again…
That was until he met her.
Even before they officially met, he had been stalking her through the woods for months. At first, he had planned on killing her and taking over her cabin for himself. In his mind, it was only fair. Humans killed and stole from nature every single day, honestly he thought he was doing the world a favor taking one of them out.
But (Name) wasn’t like other humans. Every day, he watched her take only what she needed, and left behind gifts for the fairies and animals. She tended to the wounded creatures and made sure she never over stayed her welcome.
It would be dishonest to say he likes her, but she was the closest thing to tolerable a human could get in his eyes. So when he met her, he found himself unable to hurt her.
Though at first he kept his distance and attempted to bite her if she strayed too close, he never intended to actually hurt her. If he wanted to, he could have easily tore into her throat and feasted on her flesh… but he didn’t.
This human, this girl had become something akin to a friend to him. Despite his hatred for her kind, he couldn’t help following after her and staying by her side. It felt soothing, safe… almost familiar in a way. It reminded him of when he was just a pup and would follow behind his mother while she hunted or gathered ingredients for dinner.
So when he was attacked by the very poachers that killed his family, he escaped with only one thing in mind.
‘I have to find her!’
He followed her scent, barely dragging his wounded hide to her home and collapsing on the front step. He never would have thought that he would trust a human to help him, not after what he had been put through.
Even now, as he laid there powerless and unable to move, his mind was still conflicted. Was this really okay? Could he truly rely on this human to tend to him when he was utterly defenseless?
‘It doesn’t really look like I have much of a choice…’
Winning his trust would not be easy, but if she could… (Name) would gain a loyal companion.
Only time could tell what would become of these two…

tags: married fem reader + oc! husband + some suggestiveness
It wasn't a surprise by now and you weren't even sure why you let it bother you still, maybe it was because the man you married wasn't anything like he was when you first met five years ago and now it was a dead end relationship with nowhere to go, not even up.
Smoke billowed from under your hood and thanks to your lucky stars your car blew up in the driveway you shared with your neighbor Toji who happened to be on his balcony watching you anyway.
You coughed on the white cloud and attempted to fan it away as best as possible, trying to see what caused the issue. "Husband ain't home to help?" Toji called down to you with a huff, not that he was upset with you, but rather the excuse of a man you married.
No man should ever leave his woman stranded or with a car that could give her troubles. You turned to look up at him with a soft smile that never reached your eyes, none of them did expect when you talk to him. "Never is, do you mind? I owe you another months of rent."
It was a running joke between the both of you since Toji did most of your housework like fixing your washer when it began to leak and you needed clean work clothes. "How about just some dinner?" He counteroffered when he came closer to stand next to you.
"You haven't eaten?" You mused squinting your eyes at him making him shrug and smirk as he looked under the hood with a low whistle, one that made your skull burst with a headache, it wasn't good.
Toji didn't answer your question and pointed to a line that connected to your engine. "This is your problem, your best gettin' a new car darlin'." He told you, the use of that nickname that failed to make you quiver and flush with heat as you leaned in more to look at the issue.
Your sigh was pulled deep from your soul that was crafted from all the stress that accumulated from work and being married to your husband who seemed to drain you more than anything. "I don't think I can afford a new one right now, and I have to get to work."
"Take my car." It was so nonchalant that it made you do a double take so fast you were scared your head would screw right off as your mouth flopped open then shut a few times as he handed you his keys.
He uncurled your fingers watching you with a slight smirk. "I won't no for an answer, I have my motorcycle, unless you want to ride that?"
His words had a double meaning and you hated yourself for wanting to ride that man like he was the motorcycle. "I--no, thank you. I owe you that dinner, how about tomorrow night? He has to stay last as usual." You told him and leaned your head against his arm.
It's been two years since you've known Toji and his son who came by whenever his ex-wife allowed him to see his father, you knew their relationship was more than rocky and he just wanted to see his son.
"I'll have Megs with me if you don't mind." His voice was thick with something as you both turned to look at each other, his intense gaze made you want to buckle underneath his eyes.
"Of course, I never mind. He's a cutie pie and since we don't have any children it gives me a glimpse into what it would be like." You murmured and shut the hood with a loud thunk.
Toji rubbed at his chin watching as you dropped his keys in your purse. "You'd make a good mom, the best mommy." His words made your belly fill with butterflies as you nodded unsure what to say.

Bakugou/Fem Reader/Kirishima
Werewolf Scenario — MDNI
Warnings; some mild descriptions of fighting/being in pain, brief mentions of blood, cursing, praise/reader is called a good girl, oral sex, mating press
Everyone involved is 18+/aged up — if that bothers you, scroll on or block me.
••••••••
It’s boiling.
Fucking sweltering.
Your eyes snap open, the stifling heat stirring you into a reluctant form of consciousness.
You glance down, only to be met with a face full of damp red hair that could only belong to your boyfriend Eijirou.
Who apparently has taken it upon himself to use your shoulder as a pillow.
The man is a goddamn furnace.
Of course, you’re privy as to why he’s so feverish. It’s the same burning itch that lurks just below the surface of your own skin.
This past week you’ve been counting down the days until the full moon — and there’s only one left.
Plus, it’s only Eijirou’s third time dealing with his shift — so his control over his body is shaky at best.
Katsuki being the pack leader, has much more experience and insight dealing with the shift than you do.
Hence the reason you’ve all made sure he’ll be home tomorrow night to ensure it goes smoothly.
Groaning, you unstick yourself from the entirely too sweaty body clinging to you. Your nose scrunches in discomfort as you unwind the hefty weight of Eijirou’s arm from your waist and untangle your legs.
You shove at Eijirou’s shoulder, mumbling for him to get his heavy ass off.
Said man doesn’t stir, softly sighing and turning over to face the wall.
Limbs sluggish with sleep you push up onto your elbows, then up until you’re sitting on your butt.
You kick off the suffocating covers and lean backwards onto the headboard in hopes for better airflow to cool off.
It would be unbelievably helpful to have Todoroki’s quirk right now.
You decide to study the room to distract yourself, admiring the way the moonlight has bled in. Illuminating certain shapes as you bask in the peaceful stillness of the night.
It’s not as if the darkness hinders you either way. Seeing as your eyesight is just as sharp in the night.
What with your…..condition.
Using the back of your hand to wipe the sweat off of your forehead your thoughts trail to Katsuki. Curious as to how his patrol is fairing.
You lean over and tap the screen of your phone where it rests on your side table.
The light from the screen is on the edge of blinding, making you wince and partially shield your eyes.
Why the fuck do I keep it so bright?
You fumble to put it in dark mode, reading the last vague and aggressive message Katsuki sent.
Katsuki 🧡
“I’d rather chew off my own motherfucking arm than be on patrol with icy hot right now.”
A startled bark of laughter pushes past your lips.
Eijirou shifts restlessly behind you, but you pay him no mind. He tosses and turns frequently in his sleep this close to shifting.
You read over the text again. You know Katsuki doesn’t mean that. He and Todoroki are fairly decent friends these days.
You reply swiftly.
After setting your phone down and scooting underneath the blankets, you promptly flop onto your back in an attempt to get comfortable.
You debate whether or not to cuddle up to Eijirou, but decide against it. Waking up drenched in sweat does not appeal to you.
As you start to drift off, the rhythmic lull of crickets outside your window helps your mind quiet once again. Lids drooping as your breathing begins to even out.
Crack.
You blink a few times in rapid succession, instantly on guard. You cautiously stay still, ears twitching and listening for the familiar sound.
Crack.
A blistering chill rushes through your blood as you recognize the unwanted tell tale sound of bones breaking.
Crack. Snap!
Your pulse jackrabbits so violently your heart may bruise your rib cage.
Please for the love of God don’t let this be what I think it is. The full moon isn’t until tomorrow night!
Eijirou suddenly cries out. A keening, wounded noise that’s wrenched from the pits of his chest.
Before you can register it, you’re sitting up straight. Spine stiffening as you turn and watch Eijirou with mounting horror.
It’s not unlike witnessing twin snakes slithering, shifting urgently as Eijirou’s own spine breaks and rearranges for a body that’s far less human.
“Ei,” you whisper frantically, by his side in an instant. Your chest squeezes, adrenaline forcing the hair on your arms to stand on end. You shake his shoulder roughly, brushing the hair that’s sticking to his forehead away with your free hand. “Eijirou.”
He whines a jumbled version of your name before going stock still. You freeze alongside him, hyper aware of your shuddering exhales.
Dread settles over you, stomach dropping as you listen to Eijirou’s newly forming claws rip and shred the sheet next to him.
A low rumble starts up in his chest, slowly clawing its way up to emanate from his throat.
Your stomach knots up realizing it’s too late for you to help him keep even a sliver of coherence through this.
Your fingers unwillingly twitch where they’re tangled in Eijirou’s hair. His growl intensifies, a stiff warning embedded in it.
Hands shaking, you carefully shift your gaze down to his side profile, catching the untamed fury twisting his features.
It’s abhorrent and unnatural the way it replaces his normal cheerfulness.
The sudden fierce instinctive urge to fight Eijirou knocks around inside your mind so roughly you get lightheaded.
Eijirou’s already side eyeing you menacingly. His iris glows a pale yellow rather than the cherry red it usually is.
There’s a few seconds of silence, tension suffocating as you weigh your only two options.
Fight or flight?
With no hesitation, you lunge towards the side table closest to you. Barely managing to grab your phone as you start launching to your feet to get away.
Eijirou’s claws sink in brutally, taking a decent chunk from your outer thigh as you skirt out of his deadly range.
The explosive searing sensation of your flesh ripping wrenches all the air from your lungs.
Crimson sprays the otherwise pristine sheets as you stagger upright to your feet.
You whip around with a snarl that bounces off your bedroom walls. Anger making your entire body flash white hot.
The instinctual pulse to return the favor and give Eijirou a nasty scar is all consuming and you know your own eyes are flashing yellow.
Eijirou leaps towards you without missing a beat and you all but sprint through the door. Slamming it shut and twisting the lock right as the redhead rams into it.
It locks from the outside for a reason.
You stumble forward, struggling to ignore the borderline unbearable pain lancing through your leg and place a hand on the couch to steady yourself.
Your mind races, warm liquid trailing from your wound down your leg and pooling between your toes. You want to gag.
You can’t fucking think straight.
You squeeze your eyes shut. Taking a singular fortifying breath as you clench your phone in a fist.
The sides start to give and it reminds you not to obliterate the thing, as well as why you snagged it in the first place — to text Katsuki so you have a chance in hell of coming out this night alive.
With trembling hands you text the blonde a short yet urgent message.
Eijirou is shifting. 911. Hurry.
A deafening bang makes you jump a foot into the air, nails automatically sharpening into points.
You chance a peak at the door. Fear prickles at the base of your skull as the behemoth on the other side splinters it down the middle.
You briefly recall when Eijirou turned 21, shifting for the first time.
It was only a mere three months ago. He was the last one out of the three of you to do so, but he wasn’t as violent as he is now.
It was messy and there were a lot of tears, but you’d trade this scenario for that one in a heartbeat.
Shifting is always erratic in the beginning, but you were sure Eijirou would be the more laid back type.
Apparently not.
You shake your head to clear the unhelpful memories when Eijirou’s frustrated howl cuts through them.
You glance at the front door with a scowl. You can’t very well go outside and take a half shifted, out of control werewolf into the neighborhood.
You’re not even wearing any damn pants.
You veto the forest as an option as well. Mainly because Katsuki will inevitably find you and Eijirou torn to pieces before the sun rises.
Steeling your resolve, you submit to the fact that you’ll have to put up as much of a fight against Eijirou as you’re able to until Katsuki saves you.
The deep gashes in your thigh scream in protest when you shuffle behind the coffee table, placing the couch and it between you and the door.
You preemptively mourn the loss of your phone and toss it aside, bracing yourself in a defensive stance.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Any second now.
The door is on its last legs.
One more heave and it splits entirely, debris flying in all directions. Eijirou forces his body through the opening, face distorted, half shifted with claws and fangs to match.
He snarls furiously when his gaze lands on your defensive form. You return the sentiment, making him aware you’re challenging him.
The icy sensation of fear continues to rush through your limbs, mixing dangerously with a barely suppressed fury that you’re unable to ignore.
You curse any and everything known to mankind and pray you’re able to keep him contained until Katsuki arrives.
Biting the bullet you take a running start towards Eijirou, sidestepping the coffee table. You’re hell bent on getting the first punch in.
His reflexes mirror yours. Using the backrest of the couch to jump and propel himself at you like a shot.
The collision is excruciating. One of your ribs has cracked from the force — you’re sure of it.
Eijirou’s got enough weight on you that the impact sends you both careening backwards, slamming onto the coffee table before rolling off with a thump as you connect with the ground.
Eijirou crushes you when you land and you shove a palm into his cheek and wrench his head to the side.
You desperately sink your teeth into the muscle where Eijirou’s neck meets his shoulder, hoping the pain will allow him to snap out of it.
He wails, the sound distorted from mutating vocal chords. He thrashes in your grip. Tearing away and ripping his flesh in the process.
The metallic scent chokes you. Blood is splattered everywhere, and your brain is starting to get fuzzy a long the edges as you lose yourself to the wolf.
Somehow, you’re able to tuck your feet under Eijirou’s stomach. Pressing into the firm muscle there and sending him flying.
You scramble to your feet, crouching low. Your upper lip raises to bare your teeth, aiming a violent snarl at Eijirou. The red head is on his hands and knees in an instant.
You’re royally pissed — and simultaneously terrified.
You don’t want to endure this atrocious situation any longer than absolutely necessary.
Sucking air back into your lungs your chest heaves, eyes fluttering shut before refocusing on Eijirou with intensity.
Like a mantra, you repeat to yourself just survive until Katsuki is here. Just survive until Katsuki is here.
You and Eijirou once again morph into a mess of blood and punches and viscious bites, hanging onto your consciousness by a thread.
——————————
Your head pounds. Wickedly throbbing in time with your heartbeat. Your brain seems to stick to the insides of your skull.
The wind whistles softly around you, tickling your skin and you realize you’re outside. Naked.
Peeling your eyes open, the cloudless blue sky burns as it peaks through the tree tops. You blink a few times to clear your blurry vision, shifting slightly on your back.
You’re positive you must’ve been run over by a truck. The all over bone deep ache is proof by itself.
Sighing, you concede to the soreness that begs you to keep lounging on the ground. Joints creaking when you bend your elbow, you brush over the close to healed claw marks on your thigh.
The wound smarts, a searing heat flaring down your leg.
Fuck Eijirou, you really did a number on me.
You go limp, melting into the soft grass and damp top layer of soil for a bit longer.
Bits and pieces of your memory spring to the forefront as you contemplate the utter bullshit you had to deal with the night before.
Katsuki appearing like a bat out of hell when he burst through the door and rescued you from certain doom.
Eijirou completing his shift and settling into the form of a beautiful russet colored wolf.
Katsuki’s carmine eyes aglow as he and Eijirou duked it out — until he was able to corral the other down into the basement.
Katsuki had locked the door with finality, and you knew you wouldn’t see either of them for hours.
You remember shivering with rage, bloody and damn near beaten to a pulp. Pulling splinters from way too many sensitive areas.
You had taken off into the woods right after, bearing the excruciating shift and running for miles as the wolf.
Now, here you are.
Naked and internally debating with yourself to get the hell up and make the horrendous trek back to your home.
Honestly, you don’t want to see either of them right now. Eijirou will be distraught with guilt and it’s just —
You’re still irate about the entire ordeal.
You curse aloud, pushing to your feet at a snails pace. Gently stretching and taking note of the new bruises you’re sporting.
There’s a lot of dried blood.
A lot.
————————————
Once you make it back into your living room, you’re not at all shocked to see the mess from the night before had miraculously disappeared.
The pathetic remains of the bedroom door have been taken away. All the blood has been cleaned.
At least your coffee table survived the battle.
You sigh in relief. Thank God for Katsuki, he would never dream of leaving a crime scene behind.
Sniffing the air, the familiar scents of your partners have gone stale. They must not have wanted to linger, opting to give you some space.
You’re grateful. As it allows you time to shower and sleep.
You scrub your skin under the spray of hot water. Collecting your thoughts as you comb the birds nest that has become your hair. Wincing each time you press too hard on a bruise or soap stings your wounds.
Hopefully you’ll be mostly healed by the time you wake up.
A soft warmth blooms in your chest when you reach your bed.
Eijirou has left you one of his T-shirts to wear and Katsuki’s favorite blanket is tangled in with the others.
And one of them had found your missing phone, placing it on the charger and letting it rest on the side table.
You’re a zombie slipping into Eijirou’s too large shirt. The thinning, worn, and soft material brushes your thighs.
When you lay down, you bring the collar of Eijirou’s shirt to your nose, inhaling deeply and letting the scent of fresh rainfall wash over you.
You pull Katsuki’s blanket up over your shoulders. The sweet smell of orange and cinnamon fills your senses, relaxing you entirely.
You’re out like a light before you know it.
————————————
They come home late into the afternoon. Obnoxiously loud and cheerful — at least on Eijirou’s part.
Your stomach clenches as their voices grow closer.
You’ve been resting as much as possible, cuddled up and barely paying attention to the movie flickering across the screen.
You’d taken the past few hours to reflect. As you cooled off you knew it wasn’t really Eijirou’s fault, that he was just as petrified as you had been.
It’s not as if you’d never gone off the deep end in the beginning, and Eijirou was there for you. With no hesitation.
You made up your mind that reconciling with Eijirou was your first priority when they returned.
Eijirou passes through the makeshift curtain door first. His eyes get comically large, footsteps halting when he spots you.
The short silence is unpleasant, and Eijirou shifts his weight nervously from foot to foot. Unsure of what he should do next.
You offer him an awkward, tight lipped smile, along with a small wave and his tense composure disintegrates.
Within the second he’s making haste to crawl up on the bed and get to you.
All the built up frustration bubbles to the surface, stinging the backs of your eyes as you fist the blanket.
“Baby,” Eijirou breathes, voice cracking as you sit up and slip your arms around his neck when he reaches you.
He tugs you close, clinging to your waist with one arm and cradling the base of your skull with his free hand to keep you in place.
You swallow a lump, inhaling against the skin of his throat deeply as he manages to make you feel safe and relieved.
“I’m so sorry baby, I’m so fucking sorry,” he croaks. You’re concerned he may start crying.
You nod jerkily, gripping him tighter. You hate the way his voice shakes as he apologizes.
This wasn’t his fault and you’re determined to make sure he knows that.
“It’s okay Ei. I know baby, I know. This isn’t on you, okay?” You reassure him, voice watery with emotion.
Eijirou chokes out an acknowledgement, sniffling.
Katsuki then takes a seat on the bed behind you, rubbing a warm palm back and forth between your shoulder blades in comfort. He places a soft kiss to the back of your neck.
The three of you sit there and hash out the night before. Spending a good half hour at least, talking through everything. Brainstorming ways to prevent this from occurring again.
The conversation eventually trails off into a comfortable silence before Katsuki opens his mouth.
“You take off into the woods last night?” Katsuki asks somberly.
“Yeah.”
Your response gets muffled by Eijirou’s shirt. Katsuki snorts.
“Well, you sure as hell look like it,” he jokes, trying to lighten the mood. It works.
You whip your head around to glare daggers at Katsuki but he’s giving you a teasing smile, nudging you playfully.
You punch his stomach halfheartedly, unable to stop your lips from turning upwards.
“Whatever, dickpunch.”
Eijirou laughs, causing Katsuki to roll his eyes and chuckle at your childish insult.
You study Eijirou rubbing his cheek as you recline into Katsuki’s chest, his soothing warmth seeping through both your shirts.
“So are you really okay?” Eijirou prods, scratching the side of his nose and looking away with a frown.
“I’m fine Ei,” you murmur tenderly. You stretch your leg out, showing him the side of your thigh where the marks have mostly faded. “See? It’s just a scar now, which will go away soon.” You poke his ribs with your toes.
Eijirou’s expression spells relief as he brushes the pads of his fingertips feather light over the raised pinkish skin.
You shiver from the ticklish sensation, a flash of arousal burning your lower belly.
Eijirou’s eyes are warm when they meet yours, lids drooping a bit when he notices your shiver.
The blonde must have picked up on the new charge in the atmosphere, because Katsuki leans in close to whisper something sultry in your ear, making you jolt.
“What do you think baby?” Katsuki hums, securing an arm around your waist. “Eijirou’s been so fucking bad, we should punish him. Don’t you think?” He suggests enticingly, acting as the devil on your shoulder.
You glance back at the redhead, who’s gone slack jawed, cheeks flushing bubblegum pink. Your eyebrow twitches as you pretend to mull it over.
Trailing your eyes up and down Eijirou’s figure lazily, he fidgets in place, fingers curling into the hem of his shorts.
You think it’s the perfect way to get things back to normal.
You tilt your head, making heated eye contact with Katsuki. A coy grin lights up your face.
“What did you have in mind?”
The mischievous glint in Katsuki’s eye is answer enough.
————————————————-
“Fuck! Katsuki, oh god,” you gasp, breath hitching in your throat.
Katsuki’s eagerly pushing his thick cock into your pussy, spitting out a few curses as he does so.
The stretch is delicious, and you squeeze his forearms mercilessly. Nails creating indentations as he teasingly pulls back until just the head remains, rolling his hips and filling you to the brim with one fluid motion.
Your spine arches, skull digging into the mattress below as Katsuki starts thrusting at a leisurely pace, thumb coming up to work slow circles into your clit.
At this angle, you have an upside down view of Eijirou sitting behind you, reclining halfway up against the headboard.
Katsuki took it upon himself to spread you out flat on your back between the redhead’s thighs.
He taunted Eijirou with an arrogant smirk. Meanly instructing him he isn’t allowed to cum until you and Katsuki do.
Katsuki demands Eijirou only touch you if you initiate it first. And you agreed.
So for now, Eijirou’s pouting. Settling on wrapping one hand around the base of his cock, stroking slowly as he leers at the scene in front of him. Trying to avoid splitting his lip with razor sharp teeth.
You’re able to meet his hungry gaze briefly, before fingers are gripping your chin and yanking you from the gorgeous view.
“Don’t fucking look at Ei. He’s in trouble, remember?” Katsuki huffs, a bead of sweat trailing from his temple down to his jaw. “Keep those eyes on me.” Katsuki says firmly, voice raspy and low.
You nod stiffly, whimpering when he releases you and pats your cheek just this side of too rough.
“You follow orders so well, what a good girl,” Katsuki praises, leaning back and sitting on his calves.
His sweet words have your head filled with cotton.
You lick your chapped bottom lip as you’re blessed with the view of Katsuki’s lower stomach flexing and his hips tensing.
The blonde shoots Eijirou a nasty grin, making absolutely sure Eijirou can watch everything.
Like the way the inner lips of your pussy stretch with Katsuki’s cock every time he thrusts backwards.
Or the way you can tell his cock is shiny with your slick each time he pulls out.
Katsuki grips the bottoms of your thighs, effortlessly pushing them towards your chest, bending you in half.
You cry out, eyes going wide when Katsuki suddenly nails your sweet spot. The pleasure blisters through your limbs, goosebumps littering your arms.
Blindly, you reach backwards, searching for Eijirou’s hands.
The redhead lets out a breathy moan, quickly lacing your fingers together and resting your conjoined hands on his thighs.
“You can only fucking touch her hands Ei. Don’t push it.” Katsuki warns with a surprisingly steady, yet strained voice. Considering he’s fucking you like he’s trying to make you scream yourself hoarse.
“Yes Katsuki,” Eijirou replies obediently, throat clicking audibly when he swallows.
Katsuki presses closer, pupils dilated and jaw hanging open as he brings you closer to that addictive high. His eyebrows pinch together as he focuses on you.
Shocks of pleasure race up your spine each time he pushes his cock back inside you, the sound of your skin smacking together burning your ears.
A coil starts to wind up behind your belly button impossibly tight, pussy clenching around him rhythmically.
You hold Eijirou’s hands in a death grip.
“Kat, I — fuck! I’m gonna cum,” you manage to spit out between gritted teeth, back threatening to lift off the mattress.
“Yeah?” Katsuki coos teasingly. “Fucking cum for me then.”
And you do. Muscles going taught, tension snapping as warmth gushes through you, toes curling.
You can’t make out what Eijirou’s mumbling behind you, focused on the way Katsuki’s gasping your name.
The blonde lets out a breathy moan, pulling out and stroking his cock twice before he cums, covering your stomach in sticky white ribbons.
You go lax, unmoving as your legs hit the mattress. Trying desperately to catch your breath as Eijirou let’s go of your hands.
“Fuck, please let me cum Katsuki! This isn’t fair!” Eijirou whines, one of his knees knocking you in the shoulder as he shifts his weight around.
You can’t see him but you know he’s pouting.
“Alright Eijirou, you can cum,” Katsuki says nonchalantly. He sits back on his calves, flushed chest heaving.
You flip over onto your belly just as Eijirou takes a hold of himself. He strokes his cock a few times, squirming with relief and you make the choice to help him out.
Eijirou’s close to peaking when you close the distance between you.
You duck your head, wrapping your lips around one of his balls and suck it softly into your mouth, flicking it with your tongue. You roll the other one between your fingers.
Eijirou yelps, thighs jumping as he cums instantly, making a mess of his stomach as his breath stutters in his chest. He tilts his head back with a high pitched moan.
Katsuki makes an approving sound from somewhere behind you as you keep mouthing at Eijirou, only backing off when the redhead pushes at your forehead when he gets too sensitive.
Eijirou sinks down the headboard, blushing brightly and panting. You pillow your cheek on his thigh, eyes fluttering shut with a sigh.
Eventually, Katsuki kicks both your asses into gear. Getting you off the bed and shuffled into the shower to clean yourselves off.
You change the sheets because they’re fucking gross — as Katsuki puts it.
As you’re getting dressed again, Eijirou comes up behind you. Slipping his arms around your waist in a sweet hug.
“Everything fucking sorted now?” Katsuki asks with a roll of his eyes, arms crossed over his chest as he leans his hip on the doorframe. He eyes the embrace you’re locked in and raises an eyebrow.
“Course! Everything’s peachy,” Eijirou replies happily, nuzzling the back of your head as a low rumble starts up in his chest.
You snicker, patting one of the arms holding you.
“Good, because I don’t feel like getting my ass handed to me again,” you say playfully.
Eijirou laughs brightly and Katsuki snorts.
“Don’t worry baby, I’m locking his dumbass in the basement tonight.”

So random thought, whar if you were a songwriter/producer for ateez and you also happen to be very close friends with them? This is the biggest 3am thought I've ever experienced argh.
MDNI 18 +
-
So it all started when you went over to the dorm to drop off some mix tapes and other files for Hongjoong. You noticed all the members were home, just lounging and doing their own thing. You greeted them quickly before heading to the home studio Hongjoong made. You were expecting to stay long though, after dropping off all the stuff Joong needed, he thanked you and went straight back to focusing on the sound samples in front of him.
You decided to take your leave until Wooyoung shouted down the hall before you got to the front door, asking —more like begging— you to come play at least a round of mario kart cause they were all trying to prove Yeosang was in fact beatable. He just needed the right competitor.
At first, you tried to decline as nicely as possible, saying, "I need to get home before the storm." But all the boys that sat in the louge all pleaded, needing someone to finally prove Yeosang wrong. You sighed, taking off your shoes and plotting yourself down in between Mingi and Yunho. Who were you to turn down a moment of glory anyways...
You ended up playing three rounds before cycling through all the boys in the room. Beating every single one of them.
Jongho suddenly appeared, saying he was going to order take out and that you should also stay for dinner. Yeosang had left with him to the kitchen to make the order, leaving you, san, wooyoung, yunho, and mingi in the longue room. You didn't have time object Jongho's offer as the minute you went to open your mouth in protest, the rain outside got heavier.
Your phone was also dying, and you still had to walk home... you didn't know what to do.
So you went back down the hall asking Joong for a phone charger, which he let you use his. He was curious as to why you were still at the dorms but too focused to ask.
Seonghwa suddenly met you in the hall saying, "You should stay the night. It doesn't seem like the rain is going to let up anytime soon."
"Thanks, but... I don't want to impose." You would reply.
"Nonsense, here I'll give you some clothes so you can clean up." His bright bunny-ish smile made your heart flutter, making you shy away and just simply agreeing with him. This led to you having a shower and giving Hwa your dirty clothes so he could put them in the wash and dryer so you could wear them tomorrow.
And this all ended you up right in this moment, sitting in nothing but one of Seonghwa's shirts and boxers. You were playing with the hem of the shirt as you watched Wooyoung and San set up a card game on the coffee table. Turns out it was a weird drinking game involving truth and dare. But you all were just going to play it without the alcohol.
A couple of rounds passed, Yunho have to bit Mingis ear, San had to spill a secret no one knew about, Wooyoung stripped of his shirt and you had to sit on someones lap for one whole round—it was Mingis—.
It was your turn again to pick up a card. You rolled the dice, and it landed on the number fivex meaning you got dare. So you picked up one of the cards and read it allowed, "Let the person to your left to me you a hickey."
Yunho was instantly blushing since he was the one in fact sitting on your left. He seemed to be giggling like a teenager the minute you caught his gaze. You didn't see much of a problem at first, even though you were freaking at the idea of the Jeong Yunho putting his mouth on you.
"Okay, uh, but it can't be anywhere visible. I have the shoot tomorrow." You warned him, shifting your body so you were sitting, facing him. He grabbed your hips, pulling you towards him without much effort, onto his lap. Now you were the one blushing.
"How about I do it here?" He pointed to the top of your breast that is covered by the t-shirt. You audibly gulped when he said that. You nodded with a quiet "okay." It was so quiet that everyone only barely heard it.
You had to slid the shirt off since you could pull the collar down enough. You used your right hand to hold the piece of fabric over your chest, covering your front as best as you can. You were basically sitting on Yunho's lap in front of the guys, topless.
Your mind was starting to feel dizzy, tilting back a bit, Yunho got a perfect view of the top of your tits. Your soft, plump boobs. He would give anything to grab a fist full of them right now. But alas, Yunho just simply grabbed your hips, pulling you closer before bringing his head down to latch his warm mouth onto your hot goosebumped skin...
AND THEN I WOKE UP!! 😭😭😭 I WAS SO PISSED OFF.... so anywayy ifejjdsj 😖😵‍💫😵‍💫

one more midnight without you ship: natsu dragneel x lucy heartfilia summary: Distance makes the heart grow fonder, as they say. Natsu learns this lesson the hard way as he learns the what it truly means to yearn. ao3
Tumblr media
Natsu’s pack lands with a thud on the familiar spot by the door of Lucy’s apartment. Happy’s little feet pad across the wooden floor as he makes his way to the bed in the place they’ve called home for the past month. It’s not technically their home—not legally anyway—it’s still Lucy’s apartment; her name is on the lease, and she still pays most of the rent, but Natsu and Happy are holding down the fort, as it were.
It's been a Lucy-less past few months, and while she’s never more than a phone call away, it doesn’t make the distance nor the ache in his heart easier.
She’s been living in Crocus for three months now as part of a book deal. A full-time salary for writing her next novel, but in exchange, she would be living in Crocus for the time it took her to finish and edit her manuscript. She had been apprehensive about it at first. Sure, authorship had always been a dream of hers, but her work as a guild wizard had always taken precedence over it. As much as she didn’t want to step away from the guild for that long, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and any apprehension she may have had was washed away with Natsu’s wholehearted support. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t still miss her.
He falls down onto her bed with a huff and takes in the comforting scent of Lucy that still lingers in the sheets. It’s not quite as there as it used to be, but she’s lived in this place long enough that not even a few months away gets in the way of how her scent permeates the room. It brings him comfort on days where it’s a little harder than usual. It reminds him that she’s not that far away and that she’ll be coming home soon.
As if she senses his unrest, his Lacrima phone buzzes in his pocket, and through the shattered screen, he can see her name.
Lucy Made really good progress with my manuscript today! I wrote uninterrupted for three whole hours, and then I’m meeting with my editor tomorrow! I feel like I’m really getting somewhere with this novel Crocus is nice, but I really do miss Magnolia a lot How are things at the guild?
Natsu they r ok. happy n i just got back from a job. went to a cafe where they had ur dumb coconut milk. made me think of you. lets go there when u get back.
His thumbs linger over the keyboard for just a moment longer as he contemplates if he should say something else, and before he can think to hold himself back, he’s hitting send.
Natsu miss you loads.
It seems like a given that he misses her, but for some reason, it feels weird to send it, like he’s overstepping some sort of unspoken boundary. It’s felt a lot like that lately. There’s this weird feeling lingering between them. He can’t call it tension—it’s not tension—but it’s something different. It was there before she left, but she was already on a train to Crocus before they could ever get a word in about it. It’s this feeling that makes his heart squeeze tighter in his chest in a way that only Lucy can, and when he reads her reply, he feels it all over again.
Lucy I miss you too
Even as communication Lacrima’s grew more and more popular in Fiore, Natsu had never seen a reason to need one until he was faced with distance from Lucy. He’d always been the nomadic sort, going where he wants to, when he wants to, with not much thought as to who he should let know, but now he doesn’t know how he’d ever go without his silly little late-night texts with Lucy. He’s been without her before for so much longer, but ever since having her back by his side, any distance between them is unbearable. It’s the small glimpses into her temporary life in Crocus through texts and calls that get him through the harder days where it feels like there’s a hole in his chest and only Lucy can fill that void for him.
He'd never expected it to be this hard being away from her, given they’ve done distance before under much less forgiving circumstances. It’s that weird feeling that does it to him, that makes him feel physically ill when he thinks about how her scent has begun to wane from the sheets with each day she spends away. It makes his heart squeeze in his chest. It’s not always a bad feeling. Sometimes, when his phone lights up and he sees her name on the screen, or on the chance where he gets to hear her voice on the other end, it’s a good feeling—it makes him feel like he can take on the world. On other days, when he sinks into the mattress with no one but Happy at his feet for company, the tightness is more than he can bear, and he wonders how much longer he can take it. Still, he perseveres because they’ve been through so much worse, and he’s not going to let a little distance between them be the thing that breaks him.
Lucy Making dinner now. Want to call while I cook?
It’s a rhetorical question that she already knows the answer to. He’s never given up the chance to hear her voice before, and he’s not about to now, but she always makes sure to ask before initiating call. He hits the answer button before it can even ring once, and he knows that, at least for now, his worries will be washed away by the sound of her sweet voice, and he can pretend that she’s with him, if only for a moment.
On the wall next to Lucy’s desk in her Magnolia apartment hangs a calendar, with each month represented by a new blooming flower. It hasn’t gotten much use since she left, given that Natsu doesn’t have any use for it. Or at least, he didn’t until he got the news.
As her manuscript neared completion, Lucy found that she had a tentative date for her return, and Natsu had made sure to mark it in big, bold letters on the calendar. Each day since then has been marked off with a bright red cross in eager anticipation of her return.
The sun setting over the Magnolia horizon cast golden orange shades of light across her desk, where the marker sat, and Happy clambered onto it and peered at the calendar.
“Can I mark it off?” Happy asked, gripping at the pen cap, barely holding his excitement back.
Natsu’s gaze flicked from the view of the orange creamsicle skies over to his buddy. It was routine by now. Natsu was the one who started it, but Happy was helping him carry it on. He isn’t the only one who misses her.
“Sure thing, buddy,” he replies.
With a grin, Happy scrawls a large cross over today’s date. He’s not terribly dextrous, given that he is a cat, so it comes out a little wobbly, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that they’re one day closer to being with Lucy again, and it makes his heart do backflips in his chest.
The way the early evening sunlight hits the room makes him miss her even more.
It’s nostalgic in a way. He can hear so clearly in his mind the way she would swoon about it, how pretty it was, how it gave warmth to the room, both literally and figuratively. She would say that it inspired her and spend the rest of the evening at her desk, quill scratching away at the paper late until the night, until she nods off at her desk and he has to carry her to bed.
He wonders who’s carrying her to bed when she does the same thing now.
She’s alone in her temporary Crocus apartment—a fact that she has lamented to him many times before. She gets lonely some nights. He assumes those are the nights she calls him with the excuse that she just needs to hear his voice, and they stay on the phone until late into the night. Tonight, much to his dismay, is not going to be one of those nights. He knows that because she made a point of telling him that she’s going to spend the evening writing and that she can’t chat much because he’s “too much of a distraction." It’s much harder to annoy her into surrender over text than it is in person he discovers, when she turns her phone off. That doesn’t stop him from sending her one more text for the night.
Natsu try not to fall asleep at ur desk tonite
When he sees the little bubble pop up on her side of the screen, he knows she’s caved in early tonight.
Lucy I won’t! Promise!
They both know it’s a lie, but he humours her anyway.
A breeze passes by through the open field that Natsu and Happy have decided to set up camp in. To another, it would provide a soft chill, but to Natsu, it’s nothing but a soft tickle from the wind. He waits to hear Lucy’s complaints about the weather, but they never come.
Right.
No matter how long it’s been, he still isn’t quite used to not having her with him. It’s not like the year he spent on his own. He’s still at the guild, he’s still taking jobs, he’s seeing the familiar faces that he and Lucy have passed by so many times. Lucy is the only thing that’s missing.
Based on her own estimates, she’s past the half-way mark and will be home soon enough, but every day feels like it passes by slower than the last.
He tries to make himself comfortable in his sleeping bag, but even with Happy by his side, he’s acutely aware of the empty space next to him. The tent feels empty without his snuggle buddy. They only really have the tent for Lucy’s comfort, so now that she’s not here, he supposes it can’t hurt to spend a night under the stars. Happy is fast asleep and doesn’t so much as stir when he unzips the tent door and settles himself out on the grass. He feels connected to her somehow, knowing that somewhere out there, Lucy is looking at the same stars he is.
If he squints, he thinks he can make out some of the constellations that Lucy has pointed out to him on nights not dissimilar to this. He thinks he spots Orion, his belt glowing among the black backdrop of the sky behind him. He’s never paid much attention when Lucy points out the constellations to him, happy to let her talk away and just listen to her voice, but as he puts the stars together like pieces of a puzzle in the night sky, he realises he knows more than he thought he would. There are still blanks in his mind, things he can’t quite remember, and constellations he can’t quite place, and he wants to roll over and ask her to tell him what it is he's missing, but he can’t.
He reaches his hand out to the sky, his palm facing up at the stars, before he closes his hand in a fist, as if he were grabbing the stars themselves to put in his pocket and bring to Lucy. He supposes she already has enough stars in her pocket, so he doesn’t feel too terrible when they don’t land in his hand like little pieces of konpeito.
Failing that, he rummages around in his pack for his phone before snapping a picture of the sky above him. It’s a little blurry, taken with shaky hands through the small crack in his camera lens, but it doesn’t stop him from sending it to Lucy in hopes that she’ll find some sort of joy in it.
Natsu reminded me of you.
He doesn’t know if it’s too mushy or not mushy enough, but he doesn’t have much longer to dwell on it before he feels a wave of sleepiness overcome his body, and before long he is asleep under the stars that Lucy loves so much.
“—and then he said that he didn’t think my shoes matched my dress!”
Lucy’s voice rings out over the speaker of Natsu’s phone as he lays sprawled across her bed.
“Can you believe that? The absolute audacity of him,” she continues. “I swear I’m never going to a club in Crocus again. Those men wouldn’t know a gorgeous woman if one kicked them in the face.”
“Uh-huh,” Natsu drawls, his gaze fixated on the ceiling.
“Are you even listening?”
“Yeah, I’m listenin’,” he affirms. “You said somethin’ about some guy at a club tellin’ you your dress and your shoes don’t go together.”
“Oh,” she replies. “You really were listening.”
“‘Course I was. I only get to hear you yappin’ so much these days, so I gotta make sure I’m gettin’ all of it.”
“I do not yap!”
Her reaction elicits a cackle from him. He doesn’t mean it as a bad thing, but it’s always a bonus getting to rile Lucy up like this, so he takes the moment for what it's worth as she pouts on the other end of the line. He’s missed this.
“Tell me why I even bother,” she grumbles.
“‘Cause you love me,” he replies, the words slipping out before he even gets a chance to think much about what he’s saying.
Any other time, he’d maybe not have even thought twice about it, but with the weird air that’s been lingering between them since she left, it feels like a tender topic. Of course she loves him; he knows that without a doubt, but when he says it, it feels like there’s something underlying the word that means more than he initially lets on. But it’s too late to take it back now.
Quiet falls across the room for a moment before Lucy finally speaks up again.
“Yeah,” she breathes, her voice hardly more than a whisper over the call. “I do.”
Neither seems to know what to say after that, so she clears her throat slightly as if to ease the tension.
“I’m excited to come home,” she says.
“Soon?” He replies, hopefully.
“I really hope so.”
Happy stirs slightly in his spot at the foot of the bed. Even in the dark, his bright blue fur contrasts against the soft pink of Lucy’s comforter. Natsu can’t remember the last time they’ve stayed the night at his own place, but for some reason, at the end of the day, when he’s leaving the guild, it’s Lucy’s apartment that his feet take him to. Maybe it’s because he’s expecting her to be waiting there for him when he gets there, that when he puts his key in the door, it’ll already be unlocked and she’ll already be cozied up on her couch with a book that has taken her day away from her. She never is, as he has come to realise, but it doesn’t ever stop him from hoping.
Lucy’s bed is comfier and warmer than his own—a fact that both he and Happy seem to agree on—and it smells like her, so it feels like consolation for not having seen her in so long. She knows he’s been sleeping here, and she pretends to lament it, telling him that she’ll kick him out as soon as she gets back, but they both know it’s an empty threat. Even before she left, he had been spending more time at her apartment than he had before, an impressive feat given his history. She’s not as adamant on him leaving at the end of the night as she used to be, and so sometimes he wakes up to the sound of the bustling Magnolia morning instead of the sounds of the forest.
It's nice getting to sleep in her bed, but it’s not as good as getting to have her there.
Tonight is one of those nights where sleep just doesn’t come as quickly as he would like it to. He envies the comfortable snores Happy lets out at the end of the bed and wishes that were him instead. He knows that envy will get him nowhere, so instead he is left alone with his thoughts and the dark ceiling above him.
He wants to talk to Lucy until late in the night, like they do sometimes when they’re out in the woods. He wants her to take him out to see the stars, like she does on sleepless nights. But she’s not here, so he’s left with the cheap imitation of flecks of dust that occasionally pass him by. In his frustration, he squeezes his eyes shut and tries to will himself to sleep.
His attempt works, but only for so long before he hears his phone begin to ring.
He grumbles as he rolls over. Part of the reason he never wanted a phone before Lucy left was because he didn’t want to be reached at all hours. If it were up to him, he would have Lucy’s number in there and nothing else, and he would ignore whatever call was coming through. No one should be reasonably calling him at this hour, but he’s not looking to get his ass beat by Erza if, for some reason, she’s calling him for an emergency.
He blindly fumbles around searching for his phone on Lucy’s bedside table for a few moments before he grabs his phone, yanking it from the charging cord and looking at the incoming call.
On his screen is Lucy’s contact picture. It’s ugly, and it’s unflattering, and it’s his favourite photo of her ever.
He blinks in confusion for a moment before checking the time. It’s almost three in the morning, and even though Lucy is prone to a late night or two, it’s never this late. In his current hazy state, he can’t come up with a reasonable excuse for why she would be calling him this late. Instead of wondering, he simply answers the phone.
“Hey,” he croaks out.
“Hi,” she replies, her voice soft and meek, even a little bashful. “I didn’t wake you, did I?”
“No,” he lies.
Even if she did, he doesn’t care about that. He’d rather talk to her than sleep, and he knows that if she’s calling him this late at night, it’s probably important.
It falls quiet between them, as though she’s thinking through what to say, as though there’s no real reason for her to be calling him this late. He doesn’t speak up in that quiet period. He wants to let her start, wants to hear her voice.
“I miss you,” she finally says.
“Yeah, I miss you too,” he replies, honest and wholeheartedly. “Is that why you called?”
“Sort of,” she murmurs.
It falls quiet for a few moments before she finally speaks up again.
“I’m coming home.”
He doesn’t know if he’s heard her right at first. He doesn’t know if this is just a dream or if his mind is playing tricks on him. By her last estimations, she’s still got another month and a half to go, so the news truly shakes him.
“What?”
It’s not a graceful or perhaps appropriate reply, but he’s so out of it and unsure if any of this is even real that he can’t hold it back.
“I’m taking the next train back to Magnolia,” she tells him, and it all still feels like a dream. “Getting to write this novel is a dream of mine, but...” She pauses as her voice cracks slightly. “I just miss you too much.”
He can hear the way her voice wavers slightly as she speaks, as though she’s holding back tears, and the sound of it is enough to elicit some of his own. He knew he missed him, missed the guild, missed Magnolia—she had said as much, but he never realised she missed it that much. She had always seemed so strong-willed about it, that she was persevering through it to see one more dream of hers fulfilled, but now here she is, in tears on the other end of the phone, telling him she’s on her way home.
He wishes she’d told him earlier. If she had, maybe he’d have been the one to cave first, to endure the torment of the train ride over to be with her. He’d miss Magnolia too, but gods if it wouldn’t have been worth it to be with her. She had seemed so strong, even in the moments she confided in missing home. She was happy, and she was independent, if only for a little bit. He hadn’t wanted to be overbearing, to overstep just because he wanted to be with her all the time, to the point where it caused him near physical pain when they were apart. With everything that had been going on between them, with the weird and uncertain air that lingered between them, he had thought maybe it was for the better that they spent that time apart to sort themselves out, but if anything, it has only caused whatever feelings he’s been harbouring towards Lucy to bubble up even closer to the surface.
Distance makes the heart grow fonder, as they say, and Natsu couldn’t think it more true than right now.
“Are you kiddin’?” He asks, still unsure if he’s dreaming or not.
“No, I’m not,” she replies. “I’m at the station now. I’m boarding soon.”
If he hadn’t been awake before, he certainly is now because he feels himself practically vibrating with excitement.
He gets to see his Lucy again.
“I just wanted to call to see if you wanted to meet me at the station.”
There’s no real reason for her to be asking that. The train station isn’t too far from her apartment, and it’s not like him meeting her there would speed up the process of getting her home. Maybe she just needed him to be her pack mule, to carry all of her bags from the station back to her apartment, but it wasn’t exactly like she had packed up her entire life and taken it with her to Crocus. Most of her stuff was still back in Magnolia with him; she had taken two, maybe three, suitcases with her when she left, which he knew she could reasonably get back with her. But it doesn’t matter why she’s asking because the reason is a resounding yes, no doubt about it. He wants to see her so badly that his heart aches and races so fast in his chest that he thinks it might just jump out of his throat.
The excitement is so palpable that he arrives at the station almost an hour before she’s due to arrive. He hadn’t been able to fall asleep after she hung up the phone, and how could he? He’d woken Happy, something the poor exceed had lamented at first, but his tune was quickly changed when he found out why. This is probably the first and only time he has ever been early to the train station, but he feels like today is worth it, that this is the exception.
He’s been pacing the station the entire time he’s been there, unsure how to keep himself occupied while he waits. He’s never been a patient person, and his mind is running a million miles a second, and you can see it on his face because he’s excited, but he’s also terrified. At the very least, Happy is holding himself together and is able to calm him down with the rationale that it’s just Lucy.
It's just Lucy, and nothing has changed since the last time he saw her. It’s just Lucy, and they’ve done this before.
This will not be the first time he’s seen her after a long time apart, and he wasn’t nervous then, so why the hell is he nervous now? Or maybe it isn’t nerves. Maybe it’s excitement, but generally he doesn’t ever get excited to the point he feels like he might throw up. Everything about this feeling is weird, and so he needs Lucy to arrive right now because he feels like the only thing that will cure him is to have her in his arms.
He wrings his fingers to keep himself occupied while he waits for Lucy’s arrival. His head shoots up at every train that arrives in the hopes that it’s hers, but the first few times it’s not. He doesn’t give up, however, and is rewarded when it finally is her.
She doesn’t spot him right away, but when she does, when her gaze meets his, he is rewarded for his patience with the soft sparkle of her warm, loving eyes that seem to soften the moment she sees him. He thinks he sees the glimmer of tears in her eyes for a moment, but he doesn’t get much time to look before she’s running towards him.
His reflexes kick in fast, and he catches her when she launches herself at him with enough force to send him stumbling backwards, just a little. There are no verbal greetings because there is no need for one. Everything that needs to be said is being told through her arms around him, warm, tight, and secure. He sobs a little bit into her shoulder because he’s just so damn happy to see her that he doesn’t even care that it’s embarrassing to cry like this. It makes him feel just a little bit better that he can smell the salty tears on her cheeks too.
They stand like that for perhaps a few moments more than necessary, but he doesn’t ever want to stop holding her like this.
“You can let go now,” she mumbles into his chest, but based on the way she doesn’t pull away,.
Her words only make him hold on tighter.
“Just one more minute,” he replies, his voice muffled against her soft, silken hair.
In that moment, there is no one and nothing but them, and all the worry, all the weirdness dissipates in an instant. They can worry about whatever might linger in the in-between later, but for now, he just wants to revel in her touch, in her heat, in her love. It’s all he’s ever wanted these past few months, and he’s going to take this moment for all it’s worth.
They both know it will be more than just one minute, and Lucy does not protest.

another scrapped fic from the TMAAF verse!
Hello all! Here's another scrapped oneshot from the TMAAF series—I wrote about 500 words before deciding to take this concept in a different direction, so here's the section I had to cut. Enjoy! <3
____
My dear husband,
I departed Lanling two nights ago by water, and took the next leg of the journey on horseback; and since the weather this morning is quite fine, I should be home by tomorrow afternoon. A-Ling and A-Yong and the little ones are all well—Jin Ling sends Sizhui and Jingyi his best, and assures them that no offense was taken at their absence. He also sent his love to the children and a little stuffed tiger for Wenwen, which I have with me in my bag.
I miss you desperately, my darling. I was delighted to see A-Ling again, and our small great-niece and nephews; but you are the joy of my days, beloved, and it will never be easy to part from you. Wait only a little longer, and we will be together again.
Faithfully yours,
Wei Ying.
When Lan Wangji received a messenger talisman over breakfast yesterday morning, promising his husband’s return to Gusu within the next thirteen shichen, he was so glad at the news that he hardly knew what to do with himself.
Wei Ying has been away in Lanling for nearly a month, in order to be present for the birth of Jin Ling’s third child. He missed small Jin Hong’s birth three years previously, since Chunyang was born around the same time, and the birth of Jin Ling’s daughter Jin Xiu came just after the arrival of Jiang Wanyin’s little A-Lian.
Hence, Wei Ying and Jiang Wanyin were determined to be by their nephew’s side when Jin Ling’s wife gave birth to her second son, Jin An. They did not stay long, for both Nie Shiyong and small An’er are healthy and in good spirits: and now both brothers are on their way home, Jiang Wanyin to Lotus Pier and Wei Ying to the Cloud Recesses.
Home, Lan Wangji thinks to himself now, as he lights the fire beneath the Jingshi’s kitchen stove. This is my Wei Ying’s home.
It still seems new to him that Wei Ying is his, even nine years after their marriage. Lan Wangji will never grow used to seeing his beloved toasting his feet by the fire in the Hanshi, or visiting the Cloud Recesses’ nursery with him to bring Chun-bao her packed lunches—for his love has grown more fervent with time, though his young self would not have thought it possible—and his wonder at having that love fulfilled has not left him since the day Wei Ying first accepted his hand in marriage.
I love you more now than I did this morning, he told Wei Ying once, when their son Xiaohui was still a toddling baby who refused to part from his A-Niang. And I will love you more deeply tomorrow, and deeper still the day after that.
“Papa,” a piping voice says from the door, jolting Lan Wangji from his thoughts. “Can I help make breakfast?”
Lan Wangji turns to his daughter, smiling at the sight of her sleep-ruffled hair, and kisses the top of her little head.
“You can help me make luncheon in a little while, baobao. For now, wash your face and wake Chun-bao, and fetch Xiao-Yu from the garden.”
Shuilan nods and trundles away, clutching a bundle of drowsy yellow fur to her chest. Lan Wangji bites back a smile; for A-Lan’s favorite cat, Huangdan, must have crept into her bed while she slept.

Sweet as Sugar
| this drabble was based on an anonymous request, i hope i have done it justice :) |
There is something to be said about having a routine.
Coriolanus used to scoff at the idea of it, of doing the same thing every single day without fail. But when Soarynn moved in with him, he began to look forward to it.
His girlfriend was a creature of habit in almost everything she did. The way she brushed her hair, picked out her clothes, did her nightly skincare routine. She was adorably predictable.
Which was why he expected her to be waiting for him when he got home from work.
She always waited by the front doors. Always.
His briefcase feels so heavy in his hand as he fumbles with the keys until he finally hears the familiar click of the lock unlatching. A smile creeps onto his face as he pushes the doors open, ready to see his beautiful girlfriend bouncing on her toes, beaming up at him.
She’s not there.
Coriolanus frowns as he steps into the entryway of their shared home. “Soarynn?” He calls out, setting his briefcase down on the floor. “Where are you darling?” He’s given no response which does nothing to ease his worrying thoughts and he’s quick to explore the penthouse in search of the woman he loves most in the world.
He finds her in the kitchen, leaning against the marble counter, her head hanging between her forearms. He notices how her body trembles and she takes shallow breaths. Is she sick? Just today his coworkers mentioned several people having the flu. He’d hate for Soarynn to be sick, to be bedridden for several days.
“Soarynn?” He asks softly, not wanting to startle his normally very alert girlfriend. Soarynn could hear a pin drop from across the room but she seemed to be in her own little world right now.
Coriolanus takes a few cautious steps towards her until he can rest a hand on her side and her head snaps up. Her blue-gray eyes are bloodshot and her normally tan skin is so pale. “What?” She snaps, her voice sharper than he’s ever heard it before.
Coriolanus would be lying if he said he wasn’t taken aback by her attitude. Soarynn is quite possibly the sweetest girl on the earth. To hear her with this tone of voice confuses him more than it angers him.
“I…you weren’t waiting for me when I got home. I came to check on you,” he explains, “are you alright darling? Are you sick?” Soarynn sniffles and shakes her head, “No. I’m not sick just tired is all.”
Coriolanus purses his lips but nods, he doesn’t quite believe her but he also doesn’t want to argue with her. Not when he’s practically paid to argue with grown men over business purchases and decisions. And speaking of work, he still has a few things to do before he retires for the night but he also doesn’t want to leave Soarynn, not when something is clearly wrong.
Soarynn must sense it, his apprehension because she straightens up and brushes her hair behind her ears before taking a few steps towards the archway that leads to the living room. She walks past him as if he’s not even here but he notices a stumble in her step. Is she drunk?
Coriolanus can’t remember the last time Soarynn was truly drunk. She’s always kept track of her alcohol consumption to ensure nothing embarrassing happens while under the influence. Perhaps she spent some time with her friends and let the drinks get the best of her. He watches her walk through the living room and towards their bedroom, once she’s out of sight, he shakes himself from his doubtful thoughts.
She’s fine. She’s tired and will be fine tomorrow.
He looks over at the kitchen table to see a plate of food waiting for him like always. They usually eat together but that’s clearly not happening tonight. So Coriolanus has dinner by himself, it’s delicious like always, Soarynn is a great cook.
It’s when he’s going to scrape the last bits and pieces of his plate into the trash bin that he sees most of Soarynn’s dinner has been discarded. He frowns, it’s not like Soarynn to skip out on a meal. She’s always had a smaller appetite than him but she’s also just smaller in general so it’s normal that she eats less than him.
Coriolanus probably eats more than most anyways but still, it worries him even further.
꧁ ꧂
Sitting in his study with his paperwork spread out on the desk in front of him, Coriolanus can’t help but let his mind drift to the woman down the hall.
Maybe she is sick, or…depressed? He hates how he doesn’t know how to fix this problem immediately. The problem solver in him hates all of this so much. He’s normally the one who fixes everything for Soarynn. The second she’s faced with the smallest inconvenience, he’s the one she runs to.
How can he be her boyfriend is he can’t help her?
Coriolanus pushes his paperwork away, he can do it later.
He quietly pads down the hall to their bedroom and checks his watch, it's a little past eight which means Soarynn should be sitting at her vanity in her bathroom applying some sort of face mask. When he walks into their large bedroom he finds her in bed, fast asleep. He furrows his eyebrows, the Soarynn he knows and loves would never fall asleep without him.
Something is wrong. He doesn't know what, but something is not right.
꧁ ꧂
The next few days pass without a lapse. Soarynn it seems, has returned to her normal self, smiling and laughing with a bounce in her step.
Coriolanus watches her as she walks around the boutique she’s dragged him to. He made himself comfortable on the sofa outside of the dressing rooms, giving him a good view of all the clothing racks and the pedestal that stands in front of the wall of mirrors.
Two employees follow his girlfriend around the shop, offering different suggestions, taking an article of clothing to the dressing room if Soarynn so much as glances at it, asking again and again if she’d like something to eat or drink.
It pleases him to see how well she’s treated by staff members of all Capitol establishments. He’s worked hard to get where he is today, to be respected the way he is and that applies to his girlfriend as well who’s stood loyally by his side through it all. If he were to hear that some business treated her poorly, they’d be shutting down the next day.
Soarynn gasps when she sees something on one of the racks and grabs it before holding it up for him to see. It's a pink dress, fluffy and sparkly, just as Soarynn likes her clothes. He smiles, knowing that she's been on the hunt for a dress like this for an upcoming gala they have next week.
"I'm going to try on everything," Soarynn tells him as she walks towards the dressing room doors, "I'll come out and show you everything." He takes the glass of champagne one of the staff members offers him and nods, "I can't wait to see how beautiful you look in everything, darling."
Soarynn blushes before making her way into the dressing rooms, two staff members right behind her. He always enjoys how easy it is to fluster Soarynn who still blushes at the smallest compliment from him. She's easy to compliment, to praise. She's perfect.
He busies himself by chatting with the staff members, all of whom are gushing over how pretty Soarynn is. "She could definitely model," one of them says. She certainly could be, but Coriolanus knows his girlfriend well enough to know how shy she can be. Walking down a runway or posing for the camera is not in her forte.
When Soarynn finally comes out in the first dress, a strapless red number, she's met with praise from everyone. The dress has a rather high slit that Coriolanus knows will drive him mad after a long night. Soarynn tilts her head as she meets his eyes in the mirror's reflection. They have a sultry look in them like she's trying to tempt him. He nods, "We'll take this one."
Soarynn heads back into the dressing room with a grin on her face and Coriolanus patiently waits for her to come out with the next dress.
But she doesn’t.
One of the staff members however, rushes out and whispers something into another staff members ear who nods and scurries to the front of the shop. Coriolanus furrows his eyebrows, “Is everything alright?” He asks, his voice colored with worry. The staff member meekly nods and does her best to avoid eye contact, “Yes sir. Miss Soarynn is simply in need of refreshments.”
Refreshments?
He’s not given much time to mull over the peculiar choice of words before the other member of staff comes back with a plate of little cakes and a glass bottle of water. They had eaten breakfast a few hours ago, but Soarynn usually wasn’t one to snack. Coriolanus on the other hand took every opportunity to eat when allowed.
He waited for a good ten minutes before Soarynn finally came back out, a flushed look on her face and somewhat unsteady on her feet. Coriolanus immediately rose from the sofa and rested a hand on her waist, “Is everything alright?” He asks quietly, putting a bit of pressure into his hold.
He didn’t think Soarynn was trying to keep anything from him, but something still felt off from the other night when she’d snapped at him and then gone straight to bed afterward.
Soarynn gives him a small smile and nods, “Yes, everything is fine. I just felt a bit light-headed so they brought me something to eat. I feel much better now.” He wants to point out that she didn’t try on any more dresses, but Soarynn honestly looks exhausted. Perhaps they should just go home so she can rest.
“Box the rest of the dresses up,” he says, not taking his eyes off Soarynn who’s now fully leaning into him, “we’ll take all of them.”
Soarynn doesn't even protest and simply closes her eyes. It might do them some good to visit the doctor on Saturday, just to make sure everything is alright.
He hopes everything is alright.
꧁ ꧂
The next few days have truly done nothing to ease Coriolanus or any of his worries. Soarynn has been the complete opposite of herself, she's been easily irritated, she even snapped at Petunia the other day, something Coriolanus thought he'd never see.
She's been tired more and more, going to be as early as seven, not wanting to partake in any of their regular nightly activities. Coriolanus also found her hunched over the toilet one night, overcome with nausea and cold sweats. He worries more than ever for his girlfriend who now can't seem to concentrate on the simplest of tasks. Perhaps she needs to speak to a therapist of some sort.
He pushes all those nagging thoughts to the back of his head as he finally reaches his front doors and lets out a heavy and tired sigh. Work absolutely killed him today with three different meetings and two very lengthy phone calls.
All he wants to do is eat dinner and curl up in the bathtub with Soarynn. Hopefully, she's feeling better today and will be up for it. When he left this morning she was still fast asleep. He placed a kiss on her cheek before leaving for work.
When Coriolanus pushes the heavy doors open he's not even surprised that Soarynn isn't waiting for him. She never waits for him anymore.
But something is off. It's quiet. Too quiet.
It's almost eerie how quiet it is in the penthouse. Coriolanus swallows and places the keys on the table near the front doors, "Soarynn?" He calls, "Soarynn are you here?" He's met with nothing but silence and while he's grown used to it, he feels there's been a shift in the air.
He's more than surprised when Petunia comes bounding down the hallway, meowing as she approaches him. He contemplates side-stepping her but never in his life has this cat greeted him like this before. In fact, Petunia could truly care less if he died today or lived tomorrow.
Petunia continues meowing once she reaches Coriolanus and stands on her hind legs, resting her front paws on his leg, pulling at the fabric of his pants. "Petunia, down," he says, in no mood for games. Petunia lets out a yowl that for some reason sounds like a small scream to him, as if something is terribly wrong.
Coriolanus feels a shiver run down his back, "Petunia, where is Soarynn? Where's Soarynn?" Petunia springs into action and bounds down the hallway and Coriolanus is hot on her heels.
She leads them to the bedroom where Coriolanus finds the lights are on but nobody is home. He frowns, perhaps he misread the situation and placed too much faith in Petunia. But the cat is pacing in front of the bathroom doors, the doors that are shut. She scratches at the wood, meowing as she often does when she wants to be let into a room.
"Soarynn?" He asks, slowly approaching the doors. He's not given a response but he opens the doors and the sight he's greeted with is quite possibly his worst nightmare.
Soarynn. On the ground. Unconscious.
Coriolanus falls to his knees, his heart is beating so fucking fast he might go into cardiac arrest. "Soarynn," he whispers, grabbing her limp body, "Soarynn wake up, darling wake up." Soarynn remains unresponsive and he presses two fingers to her pulse point, letting out a giant sigh of relief when he feels the familiar beat. But it's much weaker than it should be and her breaths are shallow.
Petunia rests a paw on Soarynn's arm, her little blue eyes filled with concern as she looks up at Coriolanus, "Good job Petunia," he mumbles, "good cat." He inspects Soarynn's body for any cuts or signs of trauma. He pictures the worst, someone breaking in and taking advantage of Soarynn before leaving her here.
But one glance around the bathroom puts those thoughts to rest. He can see the tub filled with bubbles and her robe hanging on the hook. She's dressed in her nightgown but it's clear that she was going to take a bath before this happened.
Whatever this is.
And he's going to get to the bottom of this first thing in the morning. Until then, all he can do is care for the love of his life and ensure that she's safe and sound.
꧁ ꧂
Coriolanus keeps one arm tightly wrapped around Soarynn's waist as they slowly walk into the doctor's office. He managed to get the earliest appointment slot and Soarynn thankfully, woke up this morning so they were able to come.
From what she claims, Soarynn has no recollection of passing out, only that she was going to take a bath and suddenly she felt strange, like her limbs were numb and her head was spinning.
It's a miracle she didn't bang her head on anything.
Coriolanus makes sure she's seated and comfortable before approaching the receptionist's desk, "Hello, I'm checking in for Soarynn Nightingale," he tells the older woman who nods and types something into her computer. "The doctor will be with you shortly," she says. Coriolanus nods and makes his way back to Soarynn who looks nervous like she always does when they visit the doctor.
Soarynn hates going to the doctor's office. She'll do everything in her power to avoid coming here and Coriolanus often has to force her to come. Her health is of utmost importance and he can't allow her fears to turn into negligence. "Everything will be alright sweet girl," he says, giving her hand a squeeze as he sits down next to her.
Soarynn gives him a small smile but he knows that she's not convinced, "I just...I worry he might think I'm an idiot if I can't even remember the past few weeks," she admits. Coriolanus frowns, should anyone think of Soarynn as an idiot, then their days will be numbered, simple as that.
He cups her face, touching her skin so gently as if she might shatter at any moment, "You couldn't be an idiot if you tried," he whispers, "you're so very intelligent and kind. The doctor will know what to do, trust him to help you, darling."
Soarynn lets out a deep breath and nods, closing her eyes, "I trust you Coryo." And what a horrible source of trust he's been, letting her get worse and worse without acting on it until her life was truly at risk. What if he hadn't come home when he did? What if Soarynn hadn't been home and passed out in the street?
"Ms. Nightingale?" The sound of the nurse pulls both of them from their worrying thoughts and Coriolanus helps Soarynn to her feet. She looks so small right now, so frail and delicate wrapped in her pink coat. She had been reluctant to come to this appointment, she didn't want to leave Petunia who was somewhat traumatized from last night's ordeal.
"Right this way," the nurse says, leading them down a maze of several hallways before they enter a small room with a bed and a chair, "The doctor will be with you shortly." Soarynn pales at the medical bed and Coriolanus presses a kiss to the top of her head, "It's okay Soarynn, I'm right here, you'll be okay." He helps her take off her coat and gloves before grabbing her waist and sitting her on the bed, the paper lining crinkling under her weight.
Soarynn rubs her hands up and down her legs, nervously looking around the room. It's a standard room with medical equipment on the counter. "What if he tries to give me a shot?" She asks, tugging on his hand.
Coriolanus gives her a small smile, "Then I'll be here to kiss it better once he's done." That wasn't the answer she was looking for. Coriolanus knows Soarynn well enough to know that she wants him to protect her from all things, even things that are in her best interest.
They don't say anything else while they wait until there's a knock at the door and the doctor makes his appearance. Dr. Ferns is the best in the business and the only doctor that Coriolanus trusts to look after himself and Soarynn.
"Good morning," he greets the young couple, closing the door behind him, "I believe I'm here to see you today my dear." Soarynn gives him a small nod and Coriolanus gives her hand a squeeze, "What brings you in today?" Dr. Ferns asks, his back to them while he washes his hands.
Soarynn looks up expectantly at Coriolanus who clears his throat, "Soarynn has been experiencing several abnormal behaviors."
Dr. Ferns turns to look at them and raises his eyebrows, "Behaviors such as?" Coriolanus does his best to remember all of them but so much has happened with Soarynn, "Fatigue, dizziness, loss of appetite, irritability, difficulty concentrating."
Dr. Ferns nods and looks Soarynn up and down, "You're usually much livelier when I see you, your skin certainly has paled. And you mentioned loss of appetite?" Soarynn nods and lowers her head, "I'm just not hungry anymore," she explains.
Dr. Ferns shoots Coriolanus a look of concern, Soarynn can't afford to miss out on any meals, not when she's already lean as is. Dr. Ferns looks down at the clipboard sitting on the counter and presses his lips in a thin line, "Well, this could mean many things. But I'd like to run several tests so we can eliminate as many possibilities as we can."
Soarynn furrows her eyebrows and Coriolanus feels her squeeze his hand even harder this time, "What possibilities?" She asks him, her voice wary and untrusting. Dr. Ferns gives her a small smile, "Pregnancy for starters."
Both Coriolanus and Soarynn pale at the suggestion of her being with child. That can't be possible, not now, not when they aren't married. Dr. Ferns continues, "There's also several different conditions that have to do with your blood, so to be sure I'd like to take a blood sample."
Oh boy, Coriolanus thinks to himself. Soarynn hates needles with passion and she's so squeamish around blood. She draws in a sharp breath but Coriolanus is quick to nod, "Of course, run as many tests as you need."
Dr. Ferns leaves the room a moment later and tears form in Soarynn's eyes at the same time, "I don't want to get my blood taken," she mumbles, wiping away a tear.
It breaks his heart to see her like this, but Coriolanus has to know how to fix this problem. "Darling, I want you to feel better, I want to know that you're safe when I'm not around and it'll only be a pinch," he assures her, getting down on his knees and holding both of her hands in his.
Soarynn doesn't meet his eyes and Coriolanus sighs, he knows she's not trying to be difficult, that she's simply as tired and frustrated as he is. And maybe he wouldn't push for these tests so hard last night was the final straw for him. Finding her limp body on the bathroom floor did something to Coriolanus.
He would do whatever it took to keep her safe.
He can see her resolve slowly breaking, her stubborn walls finally coming down at his reasoning, "You'll hold my hand?" She asks, her blue-gray eyes finally meeting his. A small smile tugs on his lips and he nods, "Of course I will."
Soarynn sighs and her shoulders sag, "Alright."
꧁ ꧂
"Well, Ms. Nightingale, you're not pregnant."
Neither Coriolanus nor Soarynn attempts to hold in their sigh of relief when Dr. Ferns delivered that news. Even though they're an established couple, having a child before marriage would cause quite a scandal. Neither of them can afford that.
"But, after running several bloodwork tests, it appears that you have hypoglycemia."
Coriolanus blinks several times and feels his mouth go dry. What is hypoglycemia? And why does Soarynn have it?
"Does your family have a history of this or any other blood sugar-related conditions?" He presses and Soarynn frowns, "I...I don't know. Both my parents are dead and their medical records burned in the fire."
Coriolanus rubs his thumb on the back of her hand to soothe her. He knows how difficult it is for Soarynn to talk about her parents, both of whom died during the war. Dr. Ferns nods and looks back down at his clipboard, "Well, it seems that this is the reason you've been expiring all the symptoms you've listed."
Coriolanus feels so small right now, so small and helpless. He thought coming here would give him answers and yet he feels more lost and confused. "What does this mean exactly?" He asks.
"It means that Ms. Nightingale's blood sugar levels are below what they should be. If she hasn't been eating enough then her blood sugar levels will drop, which can then lead to the symptoms you've listed and sometimes even worse such as seizures."
Well, it's certainly hard to keep her blood sugar levels up if she's not even hungry. Coriolanus watches Soarynn's face very carefully for any signs of confusion or frustration but she seems placid. "What do I have to do to feel better?" She finally asks, looking the doctor right in the eye. He offers her a pamphlet of sorts with all sorts of things listed on the page.
"Checking your blood sugar levels frequently is a good start, there are several options to do that, the least invasive would be pricking your finger and testing a small sample. Should your levels be below normal, something like candy or juice will help get them back up to where they should be. Also eating frequent small meals throughout the day is a good way to ensure steady blood sugar levels."
Coriolanus nods, that makes sense. A change in her diet might be necessary but other than that it seems to be a somewhat easy fix. And they seem to have caught it early. "Will she be able to lead a normal life? How come we weren't able to detect this sooner?" At twenty-three, he'd figure that Soarynn would've shown signs much earlier.
"Many people with this condition can go undetected for years before they start showing symptoms," Dr. Ferns explains, "and as long as she stays on top of her levels, she'll be able to lead a normal life."
Coriolanus feels a weight lift off his shoulders. Soarynn is going to be okay, she's not going to die from a sudden fatal illness and leave him alone for the rest of his life. He reaches out his other hand to Dr. Ferns, "Thank you for your help."
꧁ ꧂
"Try to eat something Soarynn," Coriolanus encourages.
She looks so small in their large bed, tucked under the covers, eyeing the yogurt he's offering her on a spoon. Soarynn pushes his hand away and crosses her arms, "I don't like that yogurt." This is the fifth yogurt he's bought her and it's packed with good things and sugars that will help her stay stable and yet Soarynn is set on avoiding it.
"I highly doubt this one is as bad as the first one," he reasons, remembering how a few weeks ago he bought her a nasty-tasting yogurt that not even Petunia would like. Speaking of Petunia, he watches her pad across the bed until she's standing on Soarynn's legs, giving the spoon a sniff. He smiles, "See? Petunia doesn't mind."
Soarynn raises her eyebrows, not impressed, "Petunia is a cat," she reminds him. Coriolanus pushes the spoon towards her again, finally getting her to taste it, "She also helped me find you when you passed out," he gently reminds her. Soarynn swallows the yogurt and wipes her mouth with the back of her hand, "I wish I was like everybody else and didn't have to do this stupid diet."
She's frustrated and rightfully so. Coriolanus doesn't chide her on it, he simply offers her another spoonful. For the most part, Soarynn's daily life hasn't changed. She still goes out to events, still likes shopping and drawing, and going on dates with him. But she has to be more mindful, more aware of what's going into her body.
He sets the bowl of yogurt down along with the spoon and grabs her glucose meter, a machine that tells them the exact number her blood sugar is at. "Well, if your levels are good then you won't need to eat any more yogurt," he says, doing his best to make pricking her finger sound fun.
Soarynn eyes the machine and sighs, holding out her right hand to him. Coriolanus gently takes her hand and brings the machine up to one of her fingers, she doesn't even flinch when the needle pricks her skin, causing a small dot of blood to rush to the surface. Coriolanus takes a clean test strip and swipes up the blood before letting the meter read the strip.
He presses a kiss to her finger, "You're so brave darling, I hope you know that." Soarynn's sour face slightly falters and he can tell that she's trying not to smile. The familiar beep of the machine lets them know that it's done reading and Coriolanus gives her a triumphant smile when he sees that her blood sugar is right where it should be.
"Well done my love," he says, pressing a kiss to her cheek this time. Soarynn giggles and tries to push him away which further leads him to kissing all over her face. "Coryo! Stop!" she shrieks with laughter. Coriolanus grins when his lips finally find hers and they share a kiss that's soon interrupted by Petunia who quite literally butts her head in between their faces.
"You're a real pain, you know that?" He asks the feline who rubs her face against Soarynn's.
Soarynn smiles and gives Petunia a scratch behind the ears, "How lucky am I to have two doting loved ones to take care of me?"
Coriolanus watches his girlfriend and her cat with a content smile on his face. The past few weeks have been an adjustment, to say the least. Coriolanus of course, was completely overbearing once they left the doctor's office and worried that every little thing could cause Soarynn's levels to drop. But she was quick to remind him that she was more than capable of taking care of herself.
And of course, she was. But it's hard for him to let her be on her own, to shoulder this burden alone.
Coriolanus did everything in his power to make sure that Soarynn felt comfortable and normal. He helped her develop a new diet and did it with her, even if he wasn't a fan of some of the things she had to eat. He held her hand when they did blood sugar tests, and always kissed her fingers better.
There had been a few times when he nearly forgot that his girlfriend's health was a bit more compromised than most. Like the time they had been rushing to the theatre and his long legs were too hard for her to keep up with. He'd looked over his shoulder to see Soarynn leaning against a brick wall, absolutely breathless. They had missed the first half of the show trying to get Soarynn's breathing back to normal but he didn't care. He just wanted her safe and sound.
"You know, I need you the way you need sugar," he jokes, bringing a grin to Soarynn's face. "Do you now?" She asks, tilting her head in a playful manner. Coriolanus nods solemnly, "I fear I've grown addicted to you and your sweetness."
His lips are hovering above hers now, nothing but a breath between them, "Am I really that sweet to you Coryo?"
He doesn't hesitate to push his lips against hers again, this time more passionate than the last. He mumbles the next words against her lips, not wanting an inch of distance between them, "Sweet as sugar."

Tomorrow's promise
Pairing: Daryl Dixon × OC, Rick Grimes × sister OC
Warnings: Swearing, violence, blood
Chapter: 3.07
“Aunt Lily! Aunt Lily!” Carl runs towards you holding a green balloon in the shape of a dog; he shows you it proudly. “Look what my dad made me; it’s so cool.”
Smiling, you ruffle his hair. Being surrounded by screaming kids with sticky hands and zero concept of personal space was your idea of hell, but it was worth it to see Carl enjoying his sixth birthday party. His friends from school and a few from his soccer team had attended the party being held in your brother's backyard, and now that the sugar rush and excitement of new toys were catching up with your nephew, his eyes were becoming a lot heavier as his friends started to be picked up by their parents.
You smile, feeling Shane’s lips brush against the curve of your ear. “You want to bail out soon? The little man looks as if he’s about to crash soon, and Lori will rope us into cleaning up.”
“Hmm, what are you thinking?”
Chucking, he kisses the side of your head and then your cheek. “I’m thinking of taking my pretty girl out for dinner and a late-night movie.”
You motion to the cooler full of ice cubes and bottles of beer sitting on the opposite end of the wooden table you were standing beside. “Do you think we could sneak a few of those with us for the movie?”
“That would be stealing, ma’am.”
“Well, I know a few ways to keep out of trouble, deputy.”
Standing up, you smooth out your yellow sundress just as your brothers walk by with a couple of on-duty cops who had dropped by to suck up to Rick by giving Carl a gift. You smile politely at them before leaning back into Shane’s embrace and quietly asking, “You still don’t like them, huh?”
“Rivers and Young?” He finished the dregs in his cup. “The kids have a lot to learn; I wouldn’t want them answering a call for my mom or my girl.”
You knew Shane wasn’t saying this lightly; he often gave rookies the benefit of the doubt.
Groggily, you stare up at the ceiling, feeling devoid of any real emotion as you think back on old memories. Once you had fought to push to the back of your mind because you found thinking of the chain of events that came from that party so upsetting. Jace’s babbling pulls you from your trail of thought. He crawls up onto you, his saliva drooling onto your top. “Thanks, kid.”
He babbles some more, as if he were communicating in his own way.
“Yeah, yeah.” You tickle Jace’s cheek with his finger. His smile lightens your mood slightly. “You’re the best thing I’ve ever done, you know that?”
You slide your fingers over Jace’s dark hair as he leans his head on your chest. Sighing, you close your eyes again, but the peacefulness only lasts for a few moments. The second you hear the noise of crutches tapping against the prison flooring, you open your eyes and sit upright.
“Is everything okay, Hershel?”
“How’s your leg feeling today?”
When you returned to the prison, Hershel stitched up your leg to stop the bleeding, but there wasn’t anything he gave you to help ease the pain. “It feels as if it’s getting better, thanks.”
The older man leans against the cell doorway, his eyes crinkled with exhaustion. “I just thought you would want to know Glenn took Carl looking for the breach. They’ve just come back.”
You stormed to the other side of the cellblock, where most of your group was gathered. Beth was humming to your niece, Judith, while Glenn explained that they didn’t find the breach. Maggie looks up, surprised when she sees you looking so irritated. She forces a smile. “How’s the little stinker doing?”
“Happy to see you,” you hand her Jace before turning to glare at Glenn. “I told you not to take Carl with you.”
Glenn lets out a frustrated sigh. “Lily, we need to find this breach fast. For all we know, our home could be filled up with walkers or the governor's men at any moment.”
“Exactly, which is exactly why you shouldn’t have taken a thirteen-year-old with you. Carl’s just a kid!” You wave your arm between the two of them and say, "Look at how much blood you are covered in. How many walkers did you need to kill just to get out?”
Glenn shakes his head. Instead of bonding over the trauma you had gone through together, the experience was causing friction between you. Your friendship with Glenn meant a great deal to you, but keeping Jace, Carl, and Judith safe was the most important thing.
Hershel tries to intervene and calmly says, “I still think we should go; we still have time.“
“For the last time, we aren’t running!” Glenn snaps, frustrated.
“We should have grabbed things and left last night; this place isn’t worth dying over.” In your mind, the only reason you had to stay was waiting on Daryl coming back, but you had no idea when he would return, and by then you might have all been slaughtered like cattle by the governor. “We survived living on the road before without any transport. This time, we have multiple cars to use.”
“Last time Hershel had two legs, we didn’t have a screaming baby.”
“What are you even talking about? Jace was with us the entire time, and we survived.”
“Yeah, but we got lucky with Jace not being able to hear loud noises.”
“What did you just say?”
Glenn stares at you with his mouth agape. You glance at Carol and Maggie, who both lower their heads. You are in a constant state of denial, refusing to accept the reality of your situation. Jace’s hearing wasn’t what it should be, but hearing Glenn say it so harshly, it feels like a physical blow to the gut, as if he'd punched you.
“Lil-”
You lick at your dry lips, then turn to face Carl and say, “From now on, you only listen to me or your dad.”
Carl looks like he wants to protest, but he nods without saying anything. You take Jace from Maggie, and in a softer tone, you say, “Right, munchkin, let’s get you cleaned up.”
“Lily,” Glenn calls out, “I just meant—”
“Seriously, just leave it.”
Standing outside, you lean against one of the cars, watching your brother mumble to himself while wandering outside the prison gates. You had tried to get him to come back inside, but he wasn’t listening. You had left Jace inside to play with the toys Daryl had found under the watchful eyes of Beth. You were well beyond being hacked off; Rick was so damn busy chasing ghosts to even notice how much you needed him; and Daryl was gone. You knew why he was gone, but you were growing tired of feeling so alone.
Hearing voices, you look over your shoulder and see Hershel chasing after Glenn on his crutches. “You’re not going back to Woodbury, are you?”
“No. I’m just going out there.”
“I’ll go with you,” Hershel offers.
“I got it.”
“By yourself? How can you possibly think that’s a good idea?”
“I can’t just sit on my hands,” he resorts defensively. “I’ve got to do something to keep Maggie and everyone else here safe. I’ve already failed once.”
“Glenn, nobody blames you for what happened to you and Lily. There was no way you could have known what would happen; there was no way to prevent it.”
“With Daryl gone and Rick wandering crazy towns, I’m the next in charge.”
“Like hell you are,” you frown, making your presence known. “You want to keep Maggie safe, then be here to do it. I get that you’re mad and frustrated because I’m the exact same, but we can’t be making rash decisions.”
Glenn brushes by you and opens the car door without saying a word.
“We’ve already lost Shane, Lori, T-dog... I don’t want you to be the next person we lose.”
Without even glancing back at you and Hershel, he drives off.
You and Rick exchange a look as Hershel tries to talk some sense into him, but you knew from the look in his eyes that he was too far gone to register the advice on grief the older man was giving him. Sighing, you go to the wired-up hole in the fence and start to untie it. You’d be damned if you were leaving him as walker bait any longer; he might not have listened to you before, but now you weren’t giving him a choice.
“Lily, stay behind the fence. It’s dangerous out here.”
“No shit-”
A bullet whizzes past your ear, narrowly missing as it skims the top of your shoulder. The sound of gunfire fills the air as you frantically scan the area for the source. Adrenaline pumping, you grab hold of Hershel and pull him with you as you drop to the ground, heart racing in your chest.
Your brother's pained voice echoes loudly, “Lily!”
You feel the heat from where the bullet grazed your skin, leaving a burning sensation. Your vision blurs momentarily as you struggle to focus amidst the chaos.
“Rick, you need to get back inside the fence!”
Using the long grass of the field in the prison yard as cover, you roll onto your stomach and peak up to see the direction of the shooter and see three different men. The governor is one of them.
Son of a bitch.
Rick was pinned down, and you could hear bullets coming from the opposite side of the courtyard, which meant they had someone right outside the prison. The governor was firing bullets into the air; the way he was wasting bullets meant he had a vast supply. You watch in horror as a van crashes through the fence, and you duck down lower to avoid being seen by hun.
The stench of decay hits your nose, and at the same time, the sound of snarling hits your ears, and you realize the drivers realized walkers into the field.
“Lily, Hershel, get the hell out of there!”
Hershel fires at the undead, trying his best to keep them at bay. Knowing you don’t have many bullets left, you grip the cold, rusted pole that’s lying on the ground and use it to stab Walker in the head. With so many undead people surrounding him, the governor and his men retreat.
“Fuck, there are too many of them!”
More walkers enter the field, attracted by all the noise, their eyes filled with hunger and malice. You can see their twisted limbs and rotting skin as they approach. Another wave of dread courses through you when you hear another vehicle course through, but thankfully it was Glenn returning and not another van full of walkers.
He pulls the truck over, and Michonne, who you didn’t even realize was in the field, jumps inside, then Glenn drives it over to where you are. Hearing a cry for help, watch as Rick backs up against the fence, trying to fight off multiple walkers at once.
“No, no, no!” You try to run to him, but Glenn and Michonne drag you back and force you into the truck. “We need to go back; we can’t leave him!”
“He’s not alone!”
When the vehicle approaches the prison yard, Maggie and Carl open the gate to let the truck through. Soon as it stops, you jump and hug Carl. “Are you okay? You hurt?”
“No, but you are.”
“I’m okay, we’re okay.” You look around and notice Axel’s body laying on the ground, he had been shot in the head. “Carl, go back instead and stay with Jace and Judith, okay?”
“I’ll go with him,” Beth says, and the two of them go back inside.
You walk as close as you can to the fence without a walker being able to reach you through the holes, and you watch as Daryl and Merle fight off walkers alongside your brother.
Glenn taps your good shoulder and says, “You should get inside so Hershel can check you over.”
“I’ll wait… Thanks for saving our asses.”
“Always,” he says, giving you a knowing look. “What the hell happened?”
“Whatever this was, it’s only the beginning.”

🎲 hehe
You rolled 41! A kiss out of spite is coming right up (also I lied; I ended up going with neither Dottore nor Albedo) but a secret third option)
Alhaitham knew it was his fault you were currently huffing and puffing in frustration, angrily collecting scattered papers and books, snapping them shut with no care for placing a bookmark first. You had been prone to such harmless, if petty, ploys of revenge since he'd first met you.
Admittedly, your shared space had begun resembling the aftermath of an exam season, something neither of you had needed to stress about for years. When he shifted slightly in the couch it didn't go unnoticed, and his stomach churned at the scowl on your face. He hated this just as much as you, but there was nothing to be done really.
"I said I'd tidy up once I was finished working," he attempted to pacify, making his voice as neutral as possible.
"Not everything can be pushed around based on your schedule," you snapped at him, voice shaking slightly.
So this was about more than just the clutter then. Gently closing the book in his hand, Alhaitham considered how to proceed, letting his eyes drift towards your face. For a moment, he wondered if spring had finally set in before realising with a bleeding heart that your eyes were red for an entirely different reason.
You were evidently upset, holding his stare with a passion that was rare. It clicked into place far sooner than he'd have liked, he'd been horrible, hadn't he?
"I-.. I haven't been fair to you these past few weeks. This was precisely what I've wanted to avoid, and I'm sorry for not noticing sooner," he stood up as he spoke, hating the way you stepped back, placing a broom between the two of you. Another barrier.
"I've barely spoken to you since you became the Acting Grand Sage, barely even seen you, and- and I thought today would be different. I got so excited that you stayed home 'haitham, I cleared my damned schedule to stay with you,"
He took a deep breath, knowing now would be a bad time to point out that he'd never made any indication that he would have any free time today. That wasn't a conversation either of you needed right now. Before he could reply, you already made a verbal lunge.
"There's no partnership in this, and I'm sick and tired of doing everything without so much as a single acknowledgement from you and-"
"Sit."
"What? No."
Alhaitham did what he could to stop his hands from trembling when he reached out and pried the broom from you, immediately regretting having let it clatter to the ground, the sound doing nothing to break the tension.
With a gentle shove he gets you to sit, taking a spot beside you, hand firmly wrapped around yours, heart beating heavy in his chest at the thought of having been so blinded.
"The day isn't over, my work can wait. We could go for a picnic, it shouldn't be too warm and we have leftovers to bring. I can go to the bazaar and get fruit while you get ready," his mind was running as fast as possible, voice struggling to keep up.
"I don't want it to be forced, and that's exactly what you're doing right now."
His eyes widened slightly, struck by lightning when you pulled your hand from his.
"Tomorrow then, the entire day?"
He saw how your eyes narrowed, which only made the surge of relief when you yanked his earpiece to the side and kissed his ear that much greater. You were still scowling, arms crossed in front of your chest, but most likely it was for show now.
"Three more weeks and I'm back to lazing around as much as you want. And ah-," he cleared hos throat sheepishly, "handling my own clutter in a more timely manner."
