Forecasting Love and Weather didn’t need to give me the most heartwarming tertiary couple I’ve ever witnessed to date, but they did and I love that for me!
Tae-Kyung, the older sister of the main female lead, and Seok-Ho, the subordinate and coincidentally the neighbour of said-sister, meet by chance in the elevator of his apartment building. Seok-Ho is a mysophobic, introverted workaholic with no social life who likes his privacy and Tae-Kyung is an intrusive but well-meaning big sister, a divorcee and an aspiring children’s book author. These two have seemingly nothing in common but keep running into each other by random chance and eventually strike up an unlikely acquaintanceship. Seok-Ho has extensive knowledge about animals as a special interest of his and Tae-Kyung seeks out his help to do research for her future books.
Seok-Ho has never had someone who is actually interested in hearing him talk about his interests and is genuinely fascinated and impressed by his knowledge. Tae-Kyung has never had someone honestly critique her books in a constructive way or volunteer to negotiate her contracts because they believe her work deserves more than what her publishers are offering her. And most of all, neither of them were looking for love when they met. Seok-ho dedicated his life to his job and never experienced romance or love at all, and Tae-Kyung had given up on love due to her failed marriage of less than a year.
They are both in their forties. They fall in love like teenagers and value each other like no one ever has before. Seok-Ho dates her with the intention of marrying her because she is his first love and he couldn’t care less that she’s already been divorced once. Tae-Kyung cannot even wrap her head around the idea that someone would actually want to marry her again when she’s already failed at marriage once and is past the “marrying age”.
This couple filled a need in me that I didn’t even know I had! Give me more older couples falling in love for the first time. Give me characters who spent their youth pursuing something else or who’s earlier relationships didn’t worked out, but who were able to find true love later in life. So much media is only representative of youth and it sends the message that if you don’t fall in love in early adulthood then you never will. But life doesn’t end at 30, or 40, and you’re never too old to find your person. I want more media that represents that.

I've known a couple for as long as I've lived. They are such a pair of sweethearts. Both probably in their late 70s. The husband is calm and patient and his wife is sarcastic and funny. So many times I've crossed streets to just go, say hi to them.
When I met them for the first time, the wife had asked me, "You didn't tell me your name, did you?" Upon hearing my name, she exclaimed, "Really?! We share the same name then!!"
I brightened up too but before my smile could get wider, her husband chuckled and told she's just messing with me. I smiled at them sheepishly, but the wife said, "But I'd have liked to have your name."
Yesterday after so many years of acquaintance, I bumped into them and the husband asked me how I was doing and I told him. We stood there chatting for a bit and his wife was surprisingly silent throughout the conversation. Until she asked me the question she had asked me years ago. I smiled at the memory and introduced myself all over again, to which she said, "Really? We have the same name then!" I just laughed and said, "Do we really?!" I waited for her to join in me in my laugh, but she just looked confused. She turned to her husband and asked him, "Do I?" He looked at her patiently and said, "No, but you have a name just as beautiful".
She was diagnosed with the alzheimer's disease last year and my heart cried a little when I heard it. I don't know whether I should feel sad that she might not remember me the way she did or whether I should admire the way he guides her through streets she has walked before, when she feels like she is walking there for the first time.
