hello hello everyone! just here to tell you all again about our wonderful server, Biodiverse!

Biodiverse is an LGBT+ science discord server! everyone from all science fields and levels of expertise are welcome! you don’t need to be a scientist to join, just as long as you love science and want to know more about it!

we have text channels for a wide variety of science topics! there is a focus on natural sciences (mycology, botany, biology, etc.) as well as topics like chemistry and astronomy; there’s something for everyone!

there’s also fun events and community projects! this includes weekly trivia contests, occasional movie/documentary streams, study sessions, and art contests to celebrate server milestones! and honestly whatever random fun activity we feel like doing LOL

we recently started a community project forum, where members can share in depth information about any science topic of their choosing. it’s basically an info-dump channel, and personally i’m very excited to read everyone’s entries!

I’ve shared these on Discord but decided I wanna share them here too. I know that most of my blog is SU/Paleontology related but I’m also a huge fan of Bionicle. And the Barraki are one of if not my favorite wave of sets from the entire theme. So a while back I wanted to rework them to highlight how bizarre and wonderful they were. Also some size comparisons between them and my Nocturn set!

I'm Dee, an illustrator/graphic designer who's worked on children's books, self publishes coloring books, created countless illustrations, and loves working with traditional and digital media.

Hey guys!

So, I know, I haven't posted anything in days. I got a miserable cold and I have a choral concert this week so I am trying conserve energy to focus on getting better before performance time.

Any who, this is me letting you know I am still alive and that I have missed posting but never fear! As soon as this damn cold is gone I will return. I am starting a new job next week at the Natural History Museum of Utah which should be an absolute blast but it might also slow the posting down.

You guys have been totally amazing though and I love coming on here and seeing you guys share my blog. You rock! (Yeah, pun totally intended. I'm a geologist. It's part of the gig.)

On that note, I have been putting together actual lessons for various geology/paleontology classes. These would be undergraduate college level without having to pay the absolutely disgusting prices. I would do it probably over discord(?). I just want to see what the interest would be if such a thing were offered.

biology themed art challenge !!

so i had an idea to take one of those monthly drawing challenges and center it around something i enjoy: biology !! every month the theme cycles through a different branch of biology, ranging from microbiology to herpetology and even paleontology.

this august, the theme is ornithology !! i’ve already uploaded the prompt for august 1st: the new zealand kaka (Nestor meridionalis). if you like drawing and/or birds, come and join the discord server !!
