“I won’t forget. I know who I am, and it’s not who you think.”
— Wanda Maximoff, Scarlet Witch (2023) #1
basically what happened is I was like "dang I kinda want a new desktop wallpaper, I don't like my old one anymore" (it was the teal and red one where I tried painting Wanda back in, like. January), and then I saw this pose ref from @adorkastock
Hellooo :D!! I just wanted to ask if you have any tips for coming up with ideas for full pieces. It could totally just be “oh this seems cool/cute” and then just testing compositions/colours/etc on the spot (and I’d be happy with tips about that too), but I was curious if there’s any brainstorming you do when/if ideas don’t just pop up in your head (or you do have a very loose idea, but need a bit more planning before actually starting the piece)
Also I obviously need to mention that I ADORE your art!! Your most recent piece with angel Crowley had me in AWE (I’m pretty sure my jaw actually dropped).
Thank you!!!
It's a mix of both "oh my god I have this great idea I gotta draw it NOW" and "let's scroll through pinterest for 2 hours and hope that something inspires me".
For example this piece under the rain was an idea I had while taking a nap. I didn't have any proper references for it and just put a bunch of puzzle pieces together and hoped for the best, haha.
I usually have this one specific idea that I wanna turn into an illustration and then I spend hours searching for references that make the process a little easier. This was my reference sheet for it:
Most of the time I just go through my Pinterest poses board and see if there's something I'd like to draw, though. I save a lot of poses I like constantly that I can go back to later on. This was the case with the angels illustration I did!
I didn't have anything super specific planned for it when I started working on it. I actually planned for it to just be some small and quick little drawing. It somehow turned into the best thing I've ever made djhdhd
Here's my reference sheet for this one:
With most of my work I don't really do a lot of planning. I do that enough in my school assignment already, so I tend to just draw loosely when it comes to personal work, haha.
So the tip I'd give you is to get as many references as you possibly can! It makes your life so much easier. Also look for color palettes you enjoy, see how other artists use colors! And be willing to just experiment. Most of my art is just one experiment after another in hopes that one day I know what I'm doing.
Hope this helps a little bit! Thank you for supporting me and my work! :D
a little thank you note below!! pls read if you can 🙇🏾♀️
i honestly still cannot believe that i make hairs for this silly little game because i thought it would be so impossible for me to do so (as i said in my mariela post) and here i am 9+ hairs later (and even more in the works). it makes me so excited and proud to see my progress in the different hairs i make as it has gotten easier to navigate blender and gimp now. even tho i have learned so much and feel more confident in my cc making skills, there’s still so much i need and want to learn as there’s so many more black hairstyles i wanna make that are still outta my current skill set. hopefully, i can eventually make at least 40-50% of the hairs i have saved on my pinterest board. i also wanna make cc that is specifically for fat sims (maybe poses, body presets, skin details???) so here’s to so many more months of saturngalore cc! 🥂
i want to thank everyone that downloaded and used my cc in their games, edits, and/or lookbooks! i still cannot believe it whenever someone tags me or i see my hair in a cc haul youtube video (like wtf??!). im so happy to know that so many people like my cc and i hope that y’all will like my new hairs for 2024! last but not least, i also want to thank everyone who took the time out their day/week to load up their games, make such amazing edits and sims highlighting my hairs, and gave me such valuable feedback all to test my hairs!! it really makes me tear up from all the support and love that i have received so far and i will be forever grateful for all of you!! 🫶🏾
@invisiblequeen @riverofjazzsims @minaevesmoths @francescalater @kimorasimz @meoanii @browntrait @mmonetsims @eatasslikegrass @elomelos @koibish @simfuldelights @mokah @mangosimoothie @zohrou (they deactivated i think 😔) i hope this is everyone but im sorry if it’s not 🙏🏾
Jacob's No Pressure Guide to Learning How to Enjoy Art Practice
DISCLAIMER: I own none of this. All of it is just an abridged version of the Drawclass (link: Drawclass 04/29/2022: Jacob's No Pressure Guide to Learning How to Enjoy Art Practice - YouTube). Please watch the video for the full experience, context, and nuance.
So, recently Jacob Andrews from Drawfee taught a class on how to practice art without putting too much pressure on yourself, and honestly, it was excellent. Do give it a watch if you're also facing a wall in getting started on art practice (also subscribe to their channels and support them on Patreon for more excellent content :D). Since I don't really have a good memory for basically anything, I did what I usually do to memorize stuff: I made notes. This blog post is basically just for me, but I'll be glad if it helps other people too. (again, all credit to Jacob and Nathan for the excellent Drawclass).
The Rules
Rule #1: Pick any 5 days during the week to practice. Take your break days whenever you want.
Rule #2: Set a minimum time for each day that is easily achievable. Continue drawing after that only if you feel like it.
Rule #3: If you miss a day, it doesn’t matter. Just try again the next day. (Avoid thinking of it as maintaining your “streaks”)
Rule #4: Do NOT try to do a good job (Practice is INPUT). The only judgment you get to make is if you drew or not.
Rule #5: Focus on something you want to improve on each week. It can be as general or specific as you want it to be.
The Schedule
Day 1: Draw from imagination to the best of your ability
the aim is to get warmed up and also to get a baseline for the week
Jacob’s Example: Jumping poses, 15 minutes
Day 2: Speed sketching
numerous and fast drawings from reference
Fast is subjective, whatever feels comfortable for you (the upper limit is 3 minutes, Jacob does 30 seconds to 1 minute)
Not going for detail, just capture the structure and vibe, as fast as you can
No need to even save it
Jacob’s Example: 10 minutes, ~1 minute for each reference photo (reference photos from Pinterest)
● Nathan’s sketches from the same reference photos:
Day 3: Reference drawing
Pick references (the number is up to you) and spend a little more time with each one
Capture details and complexities this time (like if day 2 was poses, then in day 3, try to capture musculature or folding of clothes etc.)
Doesn’t have to be a one to one copy, you can stylize
Another thing you can do is lower the opacity of the reference image and place your sketch over it to see which areas need improvement. In case of Jacob’s example, he mentions that the torso and legs are too short (areas of improvement which he was already aware of, so in general he tries to keep those in mind while drawing).
Nathan’s sketches from the same reference photos:
Day 4: Style study
Take a look at how professional artists portray the topic you’re studying
It helps you to develop shorthands and your own style
Pull up references and try to imitate to the best of your ability
Can also draw over the reference pics to understand the shape language and flow (but don’t simply trace the drawing)
Also try to notice shapes made by the negative space
Basically don’t mindlessly copy, this is “active copying”
● Nathan’s:
Day 5: Draw from imagination again
Put together what you learned throughout the week
Compare with day 1 (hopefully, you will notice improvements)
Changes will be incremental, don’t be discouraged!
Jacob’s example: 10 minutes of free drawing:
● Nathan’s:
I hope this was helpful. Good luck with your art practice!
These are my top 3 programs in my art process! Ignore the name of the app folder. It helps with MY motivation to draw lmao
1. Procreate ($12.99 as of Feb 2024)
My main drawing program! Its so easy to use and the UI is simple. What really sold me to procreate is the default brushes and the time lapse! if you’d like I made a post a while back on the brushes i use for lineart! Sooooo worth the investment honestly. also you can animate on it too! but Procreate released Dreams recently. I’m just saving up for it oneday!
2. Easypose (FREE)
I love using this for composition, perspective and poses especially in group setting which I really struggle with. The proportions are very much anime but nothing anatomy studies can’t fix!! Also love that its free and isnt subscription based. Lil warning though the asset library is very limited. there are DLCs but they’re not as detailed as what you’d see in Magic poser and/or Clip studio. But still the basic shapes still help a lot! and I wish i can change the color and move the light but it only has the one light source.
3. Canva (Free & Paid Subscription)
THE Graphic Design for dummies!!! /lh No but fr it has helped me a lot in clutch especially for merch layout when I used to do a lot of conventions
Honorable Mentions for References that helps me a lot (aside from Pinterest):
Sketchfab.com - lots of 3D assets that you can rotate around and use as references especially when you can’t find the right stock photo!!! (Some of the Assets are free or you can buy them!)
Line of Action - been using this a lot for studies! (free or you can subscribe to them!)
Clipdrop Relight - When I’m struggling to light a scene. Very helpful for color studies cause you can set up 3 lights at once for that bisexual lighting~
I was supposed to bring these poses two days ago, but I forgot to make the post and when i remembered it, i was too lazy to do it haha so, here they are, two days later haha....
I saw these references in pinterest (my main inspo source xD) and i really wanted to make them, so I did it. I don't know who they could be useful to, but I suppose there are many sim families out there with a toddler and an infant as children. So I hope you like them and that they are useful to decorate your family's homes with some cute portraits.
I have many more saved portrait references of all kinds, so I will probably be bringing more in the future, although if you have any suggestion for some "type" of group (for example: 2 children and 1 infant, or 1 infant, 1 toddler and 1 child; or 1 teenager and 2 infants, monoparental or both parents), I would like to know.
Anyway, for now, this is it. I'll leave you with the pose description:
----------
What is on it?
6 Groupal poses for 2 ADULT sims, 1 TODDLER sim and 1 INFANT sim.
---
What do you need?
Andrew's poses player
Teleport any sim by Scumbumbo or Mccc by deaderpool.
a barstool (I used the industrial barstool from BG, but I think it works with any barstool)
Invisible infant mat replacement by mcrudd (OPTIONAL)
Instructions in the original post.

MASTERLIST: Mods that go with ballet skill (a W.I.P)
AKA make your sims live out your ballerina dreams. Finally!
This master list will be updated as soon as I find more content. I was really into making ice skating sims a month ago so I have some saved content already. Yey!
Do you prefer to watch this master list in a Pinterest board? It's here and way less messy
If I missed any of my lovely mootie who’s oc I’ve never drawn before please feel free to join anyways!
Alright so the theme is Prom Night
And I’ve prepared 3 groups! It was originally supposed to be 4 but I didn’t make the 4th one because I’m saving that group for those who have male ocs or prefer their ocs to not wear a dress or gown ^^
There are total 18 rn including my own oc- so let’s make that 17 for now haha 💀
This time I will be the deciding spots again! Mainly because of the outfit you choose! Each pose is decided based on what outfit you choose.
Here’s the ref and what base I drew 💀
The pics are from Pinterest
All you have to do is:
• send me your oc via dms, reblog or just send in my inbox
• make sure you send me the outfit according to the theme
• don’t take any spots that’s up to me TvT
• send any extra accessories or hairstyles if you want.
Tagging more people because yes I wanna draw their ocs again- @shycroissanti @thewinterpillarhashira @kiyokatokito @aceofstars0 @vexinghearts @axolotl321 @kimetsu-chan @unofficialmuilover @kurumi-igarashi @slayfics
Dear noritoshi cult leader!!!!!! I wanted to know if you have any recommendations for other artists or content creators that post for our boy noritoshi?
my devout cult member!!!!!!
I don't know many artists who are still active or still draw Noritoshi stuff. I mostly get my content from pixiv or pinterest even if it's.... severely rare.... and even then, they've only drawn him once, and that's all but it's something!
btw when I say some aren't active, I mean they haven't posted in a while. fingers crossed they cOME BACK PLEASE GOD I MISS YOU.
My list is in no particular order unless you count who came to mind first?? nonetheless, here are some Noritoshi artists that I know of/taken inspiration from
kamo_sympathy
[Twitter] haven't been active for a while, but I still enjoy the stuff they have there. Very good!!
getou_0203_
[Twitter] also semi inactive. they're a Getou, Gojo, and Choso enjoyer too. how they drew Noritoshi is smth I inject in my soul.
ohayo_akachan
[Twitter] again... kinda inactive, but still. I enjoy their content a lot while I can't really understand what they're saying. DeepL my saving grace.. their style is v similar to the anime style, which I find super cool!!
Gotharcheologist or @/alegnace
[Twitter and Tumblr] They're a chosonori shipper and active! I really like how they draw Noritoshi and Choso. how they draw blood is so good, how they draw faces is so good, THEIR ARTSTYLE IS SO FUCKING GOOD
magical_candy15
[Twitter] They didn't post a lot, nor are they active as of now, but the few scenarios were really good and fed me in my drought for a while. I love u..
rin5su0605
[Twitter] A Todo×Noritoshi account with some love to the rest of the Kyoto group too! This person was active as of June 2023, but I'm using copium. I really like how they draw.. and the color choices oh my fuck.
mecuru_MECU (?)
[Twitter] I'm a bit iffy on this one. They look to not be doing jjk anymore, but they were once into Noritoshi if you go to their earlier posts. Their linework is beautiful, like their colors! there's something about their work I really like.
and that's all I have, I think?
I know there are others out there that i don't know or don't remember, but I'll probably add them over time if i find more or if anyone else has someone in mind to recommend in the comments of this post!
yoshida_jyu
[Twitter] They mainly post in a comic format! theres also some Megumi×Noritoshi shipping so if thats your thing, this dude's your dude. i have no idea what theyre saying but they draw cute expressions. also draws mainly Noritoshi, Kokichi, and Megumi
16shelter
[Twitter} also a Megumi×Noritoshi shipper. Little warning: their art can be nsfw/suggestive at times, so be careful w that if its not your thing. Their anatomy is good AND POSING im grabbing my pen.. also, this person finds Arata cute, so theres some art with him too!
