i'm not meanin to intrude on any good times or relaxation periods, but i was wonderin whether you really intend to stay so visible? i'm an american, but we're comrades-in-keyboards if you understand my meaning. how do you manage to stave off the paranoia? i can't seem to do anything with what i have as a result of mine, regardless of how well i stay out of the light. you're very inspiring !!!
ok so real talk for a second, i deal with really bad paranoia regularly, but i feel like part of what comforts me is precisely the fact that i am so visible, it gives me some sort of solace to know that people would notice if anything happened to me. that im public enough to talk about stuff to get help from my friends.
and idk ive also made it sort of part of my mission to talk about just how much this scene (the hacking/hacktivist one) fucks with your mental health, and how much of that is purely because of (US) state repression. there is an entire talk by me about this, and hopefully the video recording of it can soon be fully public but yea.
i am a lot more broken than i usually make it appear, and a lot of that is because i want to be a beacon of hope, not another burnt out broken activist who's already given up. a lot of this is spite. a lot of this is me being aware of my unique privilege of being mostly safe from extradition where i am. and im also just a fighter.
i feel like i have to be a voice for those who cant talk, but a big part of that job is just being silly, and showing that we can, somehow, all get through this shit. like paranoia fucks you up, especially if you cant just rationalize it away because the fears a lot of activists have are very real, we operate under very real risks of very massive consequences and its very hard to just like, deal with that, but together we can, including everyone who doesnt (and shouldnt) show themselves out in the open so visibly.

Pin-Lee suggesting that Murderbot start reacting to its injuries more to let humans know it’s been injured after realizing that it’s been casually walking around after a fight leaving a trail of Fluids. It’s like “I could.. probably write some code for that I guess.” and Dr. Mensah is like “don’t worry about it if it would be distracting to you. Just.... tell us afterwards. We want to know how you’re doing” and it’s like “i can give status reports yes.”
Pin-Lee is like “I still like the idea of you giving an indication you’ve been hit. For example.” she points finger guns. “Bang oh no I have definitely hit you with a projectile. Indicate that somehow.”
Murderbot, with extremely flat inflection which would not immediately seem like a distress call to nearby humans: “Ouch. I Have Been Injured.”
Pin-Lee is like “hm no there’s gotta be some sort of. I don’t know, you don’t have to verbalize if you don’t want to, maybe there’s like an alarm noise you could make? or an “AAA!” sound? Okay let’s try again BANG”
There is a brief delay (less then a second) and then Murderbot responds with damage vocalization option 2.
“File:Wilhelm_Scream.ogg” blasts through the station.

glados saying "once testing starts, im required by protocol to keep interaction with you to a minimum. this will be our only chance to talk." during the beginning of portal 2 only to immediately talk to chell during every single test is funny on its own but that along with the cut scene where she stops the elevator between tests to ask if there's "anything you'd like to say to me? anything at all?"...she's so lonely and desperate </3

one thing no one tells u about being a wheelchair user is that if you’re anything like me you will probably need like 3 wheelchairs. and yes that means triple the expense, triple the storage, triple the hassle. my best chair is my powerchair, and in my ideal world i’d take it everywhere but it can’t manage slopes steeper than 7 degrees, or rainy weather, or kerbs. so on rainy days or at places with sloped driveways, i have to take my manual wheelchair instead, which is annoying because someone else has to push me, but hey, at least it can tolerate rain and slopes. HOWEVER! the manual chair can’t manage nature. so if i go anywhere that has grass or dirt paths, i have to bring my outdoor manual chair, which is much tougher - but! the outdoor chair is bulky and can’t fit through a lot of doorways.
i only leave my room for a couple of hours a week and yet i still need 3 wheelchairs to cover all variables. this is wild to me. why isn’t there a chair that just works. maybe ive got my head in the clouds
other variables - you can get tougher powerchairs which can do outdoor terrain, BUT, those types of chairs are never foldable and they often weigh over 100lbs. my powerchair needs to be foldable and VERY light (under 50lbs) because it has to be possible for my carer to lift it into our car by hand bc we don’t own an accessible van - yet another variable. unless your chair is foldable and liftable, you will need a modified vehicle. you can’t have a strong chair and a normal car. it never ends bro

anyway. shout out to selfshippers who write for their ships.
selfshippers who write long fics and drabbles and anything in between. selfshippers who like to plan their fics beforehand and those who prefer not to do any planning at all. selfshippers whose fics adhere to canon and those whose fics change it completely. selfshippers who take days to finish one fic and selfshippers that can finish ten in a week. and especially selfshippers who write for other selfshippers, too — who write gift fics, who roleplay other's f/os, who send headcanons and scenarios and letters and so much more.
there is so much love and creativity baked into every word you put to paper that can never be replicated. and your f/os love you so, so much for it. <3
