Finally can answer! Sorry this took so long lmao. These are just a bunch of random headcanons

Reblogging for the update that Alice is now Hope's sister.

Roland

He loves baked goods, especially when they’re baked by Regina, and has a strange love of Mountain Dew, which grosses everyone out

He got his first tattoo, the exact same lion tattoo that Robin had, in the exact same place, when he was twelve, thanks to Little John, and Regina almost fainted when she found out.

He inherits his father’s arrows, rings, and wardrobe, while his sister gets his bow. Before he died, Robin made Roland his very own bow, and that is the one he uses

His biggest secret is that he doesn't want to lead the Merry Men, like his father before him; he wants to be a baker

Surprisingly squeamish. Doesn’t do well with blood or guts

90% of his Storybrooke wardrobe is flannels

He likes camping, hiking, and just generally being outside

Is a pretty good singer, and knows how to play the acoustic guitar

His favorite season is autumn

His favorite color is red

Alex

They have survived solely on food from Granny’s Diner and coffee since they graduated high school

They actually work at Granny’s Diner, pretty much doing Ruby’s job after she moved to Oz.

In several instances, they had managed to convince many small children that the pink streaks in their hair are 100% natural

Can wield a dagger pretty well, but is a self-proclaimed “runner” and not a fighter

Most of the graffiti around Storybrooke can be attributed to them

Though they’d rather die than admit it, they really like doing so-called “feminine” hobbies like knitting, sewing, and crocheting. They are very proficient at all three

Got a tongue piercing at 12:01 am, the very day that they turned eighteen

They play the bass, and dream of starting a garage band

Their favorite season is summer

Their favorite color is pink

Leo

Really likes spicy foods. Or foods he can dump gallons of hot sauce on. He pretends to be a tea drinker, but really can’t stand the stuff

Secretly loves country music, but knows that his friends would crucify him if they found out

His least favorite subject in school is English, because he feels like he gets interpretations of stories “wrong” somehow. Math is easier because it’s “straightforward”

He’s a guard on the school football team

Somehow, he’s also senior class president and has a 3.89 GPA

Since in this AU, Regina turned down the offer to be queen in favor of Snow, Leo is next in line for the throne (Emma opted out)

Can’t do archery for shit, but is great at fencing

He likes to babysit his brother and other neighborhood kids

His favorite season is spring

His favorite color is indigo

He’s one of those people who only eats plain noodles with butter, and only drinks water if it’s ice-cold or flavored. Very picky.

He has dyspraxia, which is a disorder similar to dyslexia. It affects his movement and coordination functions (my little brother has this) so he is very prone to stumbling, dropping things, and just general clumsiness.

He’s a night owl. He tends to stay awake until three hours before he has to get up (“Three hours is enough sleep, right?”) which results in a lot of coffee consumption

He’s a member of the school drama club, and has performed in many plays and musicals

He’s really into urban area gardening, where he grows plants and food in tiny boxes around his house

His honorary aunt is Mulan, and she was the one who taught him sword fighting, archery, and helped him figure out that he’s gay

He likes to live in the moment, and do spontaneous things. He’d rather regret doing something than not doing something.

He has Alex sneak him into clubs sometimes, just to do something rebellious for kicks

His favorite season is spring

Robyn

Thanks to Regina’s influence, she loves apple flavored food

She got her glasses in her freshman year of high school. Before that, she just…moved closer to the board to see what was going on (I know in canon she only has her glasses when she’s cursed, but I like the idea of Robyn, the archer, needing glasses full-time, so here we are.)

She inherits Robin’s bow, and carries it around with her like a favorite teddy bear (when Robin comes back to life he teaches her how to make her own bow)

She longs to escape Storybrooke and travel the different realms, like Henry

She loves the outdoors like Roland, but not quite as much.

Her magic is chaotic and wild, like her personality

She’s on the school soccer team, and kicks everyone’s ass

The only jewelry she ever wears is a ring her mother got for her

Her favorite season is summer

Her favorite color is green

Gideon

Has a weakness for seafood, and regularly drinks tea

He’s a math nerd, and is on the school’s mathlete team

Unsurprisingly, he loves to read. Fiction or nonfiction, he doesn’t care. He’ll read five books a day if Belle lets him.

He also likes video games, but is very bad at them

He’s on the autism spectrum

He likes keeping journals, and keeps several personal journals, study journals, and doodle journals

Since his magic is inherently dark, he doesn’t like to use it much. If he does need to use magic, it can trigger memories from his time as the Black Fairy’s puppet to come back in the form of nightmares

He wants to be a therapist when he grows up, and maybe publish a book or two

His favorite season is winter

His favorite color is orange

Alice

She loves to eat things with marmalade, and even just marmalade straight from the jar. And she’s british…so tea is life

She has a mental illness (canon never gave her a proper diagnosis), and takes prescribed medication that helps her symptoms. When she has "bad days," Robyn, Hope, and their parents know how to help her.

She loves the idea of dying or putting streaks in her hair, but she’s slightly worried she’ll regret it later on, so hasn’t tried it yet

She still loves to paint, doodle, draw, and basically anything artsy.

She loves to play chess with her father, and other, more modern board games with her friends. Her favorites are Candy Land, Battleship, and Monopoly.

She rarely uses her light magic, and only to protect people. Emma trains with her regularly

She will stay awake into the wee hours to go stargazing, and loves astronomy, star mapping, and even the zodiac signs (she’s a proud Aries)

Even though she’s never officially sailed a ship, she knows the inner workings of how to do it so well, she might as well be a sailor

Her favorite season is summer

Her favorite color is teal

Hope

Her favorite food is literally just cheese

She is on the autism spectrum

She has a special interest in swords, which results in a large sword collection, and a bunch of useless sword facts

She also has a special interest in dancing, which results in her now knowing a few books worth of dances, both modern and classical

She’s on the school dance squad (see above)

She likes to go sailing with Killian and Alice

Her favorite piece of jewelry is the swan necklace her parents gave her

Going to the beach calms her down, and she listens to ocean noises to fall asleep

An idea for the Neverfell Au - maybe Summer's secret mission has something to do with the grimm princess, and summer & her have been in hiding

... ...Ngl, I completely forgot about that...

First I wanna say that your idea is great. ^^ In fact, it's kinda close to what I wrote-- Summer and the Grimm Princess do have a bit of a connection, and hopefully when I start finally and definitely explaining all my NeverFell lore you're gonna see why.

However, I must admit...on the subject of 'Summer's secret mission': as a concept, I have never really taken it seriously or even believed that it had any meaning. Y'know, beyond a way to give a vague reason why Summer disappeared and paint Ozpin as nebulously shady. And at this point, after RT's many spectacular writing failures, I believe that if/when we find out what it was, it'll be something ridiculous and illogical that they came up with at the last minute and jammed into the story without any further thought. :T Y'know, like Summer's original design, before they "apologized" by giving her a real one in V9. T_T

All that is to say, it never even occurred to me to create a NeverFell equivalent. ^^; Not even when I wrote up a whole coming-of-age story summary for Summer Rose (am I just stupid??? Because that would have made a great conclusion! DX). Now that I actually AM thinking about it, though, I think I would write it as a more 'open secret'. Oz knows where she went, Tai knows where she went, Qrow knows where she went, Raven definitely knows where she went. Even Yang has a rough idea...but no one is talking about it, not because it's some big "mystery", but because it's too painful a subject, and they just don't want to.

They don't want to relive the memory of losing a loved one to the darkness, of following her into hell and having to come back without her, of having to shatter Ruby's illusions of this perfect hero who could do anything. Or in Oz's case: of giving up a little too much info to an overly-eager silver-eyed-warrior and having to wait ~13 years before the next one becomes available. ^^

...Dang, I'm gonna have to rewrite my script now. At least certain parts of it...but thank you! 👍

waves oh so sweetly.... so basically my ruby/neo lady beat's AU (as much as i dont particularly care about rh) has the events of roman holiday happen during the time that WOULD be volume 1.

for timeline reasons: lady beat's starts in march/beacon starts in april. at the end of march trivia is taken to lady beat's by her mother and around the same time (roughly a week later) ruby is fighting torchwick in the street. (neo is 17, ruby is 15)

when glynda rescues ruby and ozpin comes to talk to her, noting her silver eyes, resemblance to summer, and connection to qrow (and therefore taiyang) he decides it would be far too dangerous to enroll her at beacon so early but it's also too dangerous to just leave her at signal (around 5 ish years prior is when that one student tragically loses her life at signal academy.) oz is worried that roman is working for salem and so he fears that salem will start looking for ruby within the huntsmen combat/upper academies. he and taiyang agree it will be safest to hide her in plain sight amongst the troubled girls of the upper class attending the preparatory school.

so two months into the semester, ruby is enrolled in the academy. trivia is intrigued by her but is certain that the other girls will make sure ruby avoids and hates her so she ignores ruby's initial attempts at friendship.

trivia finds ruby reading by herself one day and recognizes the book (the girl who fell through the world) and tentatively starts a conversation about it. ruby doesn't mind that trivia has to type out her questions and trivia likes that ruby doesn't ask why she doesnt talk. then ruby stops reading the book right before the final chapter where alyx makes it home and trivia asks her why? and ruby explains her mom was a huntress and when she was little promised to finish the story when she got home, but she never came home. so ruby can never finish the story.

the girls quickly become pretty close after that, and when the malachites destroy trivia's uniform, ruby helps her fix it.

trivia is a little protective over ruby because ruby is softer around the edges and so nice and she doesn't want to see the other girls hurt her because ruby can't tell when they're being cruel sometimes.

the spiders and roman are both working for salem in this AU btw. so when trivia and ruby sneak out to follow the malachites they find them meeting with roman and cinder and ruby tells trivia "those two...the man and woman...i fought them a few months ago..."

ruby and trivia spend the next few months trying to figure out this tangled web they've found themselves in until it all comes to a head during the volume 2 finale. they've been thorns in cinder and roman's sides for too long and so while cinder oversees the mountain glenn project, roman makes a deal with the vanilles to bring trivia back home since she still is not acting how they want her to, uses some of junior's men and hei xiong sr's weapons and kidnaps ruby, taking her to the vanille manor in hopes of luring trivia there. unfortunately for roman, ironwood's army is on direct orders to investigate every disturbance and it turns into a fire fight between the atlas military and roman.

ruby, trivia, and roman survive, carmel and jimmy do not. roman is arrested, and ironwood takes ruby and trivia to beacon to discuss what will happen with them. ozpin decides to just make the girls students as soon as the second semester is finished. to try and keep them safer ozpin gets them set up in a dorm on campus that would have been used by the CMSN team if this was in show canon.

during their time bumming around beacon, ruby helps trivia design hush, and they train together.

so volume 3 sees trivia and ruby joining in on team ABYS (Abyss, made of ilia, blake, yang, and weiss) and JNPR's wacky hijinks. cinder's team has also infiltrated the school and (with lionheart's help) faked an entire other student who is, oh so tragically, back in mistral with a horrific injury and simply cannot participate in the vytal tournament this year :(

the rest of the volume carries out basically the same as canon. beacon falls, ozpin dies, yang AND ilia go to try and help blake (yang still loses her arm, ilia barely manages to get all three of them out alive), weiss ruby and trivia go to beacon tower at jaune's urging to save pyrrha but they're too late. ruby unlocks her silver eyes.

trivia pulls a blake and takes off before ruby wakes up post Silver Eye Blast because she blames herself. if she hadn't pulled ruby into helping her tail the malachites and torchwick they would still be more or less safe within the prep school.

Yang and Ruby are Heavily Traumatized by these new abandonments and do NOT know how to talk to each other about it. and then ruby takes off.

volume 4 would see the split as:

yang, alone in vale

weiss, alone in atlas

blake, with ilia and sun in menagerie

ruby, heading to mistral. JNR tags along with her even though they don't know her as well in this AU because they need to feel like they're doing anything useful in the wake of pyrrha's death

brief flashes to trivia travelling on her own under the alias neopolitan, gathering information on the spiders and torchwick and trying to uncover who cinder is/who she's working for

then we come to volume 5! the Reunion Volume

neo catches wind of something brewing in mistral and starts heading that way. yang decides to seek out raven to find ruby faster than just searching every inch of land on the continent of anima. weiss runs away, hoping to find winter in mistral but her airship is downed. blake rallies the people of menagerie to aid the people of mistral. and ruby does her best to bond with JNR and oscar.

first reunion: weiss and yang

second reunion: weiss, yang, and RNJR

third reunion: qrow runs into neo while trying to find the huntsmen of mistral. nobody but ruby recognizes her on first sight. Things are Tense and Emotional for a bit. ruby is still upset trivia left her, neo is terrified that they're biting off more than they can chew.

blake and ilia return to the main crew!

the battle for haven proceeds as it did in canon, basically. neo is doing her best to help ruby and be her support in the fight, the tides truly start to turn when ilia and blake join the fray.

ilia defends jaune and weiss while jaune heals weiss. the first thing weiss sees when she opens her eyes is ilia's back and hears the SNAP of lightning lash and knows she's safe for another moment.

ABYS is reunited, with Weiss throwing her arms around Blake and Ilia and then dragging Yang in. Ruby and Neo stand off to the side and have a little reunion of their own

volume 6:

while ilia and jaune do their best to rally their teams behind them and do some Team Bonding, ruby and neo have a quiet moment to talk. the last two weeks have been trying so hard to get everyone up to speed with every one else, neo only now realizes she has to truly look up at ruby to meet her eyes, and tells her as much. she apologizes for leaving, ruby forgives her. ("i forgave you the moment you left and the instant you came back.") it's not all fixed but they're going to try.

WUH-OH BEE TENSION (ilia and weiss are sipping coffee and ignoring the other two. they'll work it out if ilia has to beat them over the head with a relationship self help book)

ruby fully uses her silver eyes for the second time to save neo, screaming out her name as the apathy take her down. (in a few moments maria's words would echo in her ears. think about the people who love you.)

ruby controls her power for the first time, grabs neo, and drags her out of the cellar.

volume 6 more or less continues as it did before. cinder finds herself teaming up with roman to hunt down ruby.

the bees kill adam.

ruby petrifies the leviathan and cordovin finishes it off.

they escape to atlas. (and neo pulls ruby off to a dark corner of the airship to check on her. was she okay? did she need anything? and ruby presses their foreheads together and tells her she's fine, they were okay. they were finally safe.)

cinder and roman follow.

MISCELLANEOUS OTHER STUFF BEFORE I PASS OUT SLEEPY STYLE:

Neo's birthday is December 21st, the winter solstice (so in this AU they have roughly a 22 month gap between them)

Ruby's 17th birthday still takes place between the end of volume 5 and beginning of volume 6, neo doesn't get a chance to give her a gift until the wardrobe update in volume 7 (it's a very simple pink and white braided bracelet. ruby keeps it in her belt pouch so she doesnt lose it in a fight)

ruby nearly kills roman in the volume 8 finale fight because he throws neo off the yellow brick road.

penny doesn't play as large a role because ruby literally doesn't know her.

roman severly injures neo after he lures them to the jabberwalker's acre and then uses ruby's distraction to set a bunch of the leaves of the tree on fire and force ruby to inhale the smoke + ascend because she thinks neo is dead.

the cat possesses neo because she regains consciousness as ruby "falls" into the tree.

okay im going to bed now good night i love you anon

roman chooses to ascend at the end upon realizing he has nothing waiting for him back in remnant as he is.

Deaged Oz AU - The First Meeting

I was reminded that I'd never actually written this, so here it is. Better late than never, that pivotal scene where Oscar and Tip introduce themselves to the others.

Oscar looked rather intimidated, waiting in the room for Qrow's nieces and their friends to come together so he could meet them all. In contrast, Oz looked more or less unruffled, his small form steady, though his eyes seemed far away. Then again, these were his students, weren't they? In a great many ways he already knew them. Just, not as a ten year old. Oscar snickered slightly, amused at the sudden image that gave him. Though Oz had been teaching him for a month or so back on the farm, the thought of him in front of a class populated by these rather intimidating older teens was amusing to say the least. He knew, intellectually, that Oz had been an adult until pretty recently, but it was very hard to see his little brother as anything other than what he was now.

Oz tried to ignore the curious glances he was being give while they waited for Miss Rose to come downstairs and join the others. There was no way of knowing exactly how much Qrow had told them, though it was probable that he would need to explain at least a part of things in person. He was just glad that he'd already told Oscar as much as he could regarding matters. After all, it had never been his plan to involve these, his students. Not in this, not in this war. But then, if what Qrow had said was true and Leon really had betrayed them? They would have no choice but to trust that these children, his students, would be up to the task. He frowned internally, noticing that Miss Belladonna was missing. That might complicate things rather.

"So, who are you two, exactly? And how do you know Uncle Qrow?" Yang asked, sounding curious. Oz sighed at that, glancing over at the man in question briefly. Qrow just shrugged and saluted with his flask, so he wasn't likely to be of much help in the scenario.

"That would probably be best discussed with all parties present. I believe we're waiting on Miss Rose?" His voice was as steady as his form, Vale accent obvious. The others exchanged concerned glances, hands inching towards their weapons. After what had happened at Beacon, this random child coming looking for Ruby was not filling them with confidence. Qrow had bought them, but then Qrow's decision making seemed slightly suspect when he was drunk. Right now? He was smelling like a bar, but then again the kid had to be all of ten if that. It was unlikely he was any real threat. Oz blinked up at them, eyes wide, and they aborted the idea of attacking him. They were hunters after all, he was just a helpless child. They could take him pretty easily.

Presently, Miss Rose came downstairs, towelling off her hair and blinking at the new additions. Oscar stared at her, he'd never seen someone so pretty before!

"You... have silver eyes?" He breathed, unknowingly echoing Oz's own first thoughts on meeting Ruby. Oz blinked beside him, thrown by the similarity in the statement. Maybe the month they had spent together had rubbed off on the other boy? There was always the alternative to that, but he couldn't bring himself to think about it too deeply. If things had gone even slightly differently, would he have ended up as the voice in the back of his brother's head? It was a horrifying thought.

"Umm... who are you?" Ruby ventured, blinking at the two unknown boys that the others had let in. Uncle Qrow didn't seem worried to see them, so that probably meant that they weren't intruders? The smaller boy smiled, looking sad for a second. There was something about the smile that was familiar, but she was certain she'd never met the small, red headed boy in her life. She'd probably remember yet another redhead and, whoever he was, he was far too young for Beacon.

"I'm Oscar Pine." Oscar breathed, still lost in her eyes. Next to him Oz snickered slightly. After all the teasing Oscar had given him over Qrow, it rather looked like he might have some payback.

"I go by Tip Pine at present, though I do believe you all knew me by another name." Oz's voice was quiet, yet carried nonetheless. That had always been a useful trick to use when he needed attention and he certainly did right now. He twisted the head of the long stick he carried, releasing The Long Memory from its hiding place. All eyes were on the ancient weapon as he deployed it into cane form and looked around at them seriously.

"You last knew me as Professor Ozpin. Hello again, students." The silence that followed his declaration sounded rather shocked and it was plain by the looks on their faces that they hadn't been expecting him. He sighed slightly as he felt the first tremor in his hands. It had been nice while it lasted, at least?

"Told'ya he wasn't dead!" Qrow hollered from the couch he was slumped in, laughter in his tone. The glance he shot Oz was soft and loving, Yang paling slightly as she noticed it. Wait, did that mean that Uncle Qrow's mysterious partner had been Professor Ozpin? That was uncomfortable to think about even without the fact that he appeared to be a little kid at the moment. And how on Remnant had that happened, anyway?

"Umm, Professor? How are you a child?" Weiss sounded suspicious, her eyes on his hair. "...and why do you have red hair?"

Oz grinned at her. "Hair dye can be a wonderful thing, Miss Schnee. As for why I am a child, well what has Qrow told you so far regarding certain fairy tales and their basis in reality?"

"Well, we know about the maidens. And apparently the witch is real and called Salem? There's something in Mistral we need to find, though he refused to tell us exactly what. Where does you being... sorry, how old are you, anyway?"

"Physically I appear to be ten years of age. However, that is rather misleading. In most ways that count I am still your Headmaster, Miss Schnee. If Qrow has told you as much as he appears to have done then that makes things rather easier. The maidens do indeed exist, as does Salem. Unfortunately. She is a danger you must not underestimate! Too many people have done so and paid the price.” There was a deep pain in Oz’s voice, which itself served to underline the danger far better than mere words ever could. The children were used to him being untouchable, emotionless, but whatever he was right now none of the previous labels applied. There was a strange glint to his eyes that looked almost like tears and beside him the boy who’d called himself Oscar lay one hand on his shoulder comfortingly. Oz leaned into the touch without really realising he was doing it and Ruby and Blake exchanged rather alarmed looks. Nora started to coo, making Oz glare at her, but she was the only one. Having confirmation of what Qrow had told them was not a good sign but at least now they knew the monster they were facing? Or at least the overarching one? In some ways it was almost a comfort, having a single person they might one day be able to defeat.

“Professor? You still haven’t explained why you’re a child right now.” There was a note of something strange in Weiss’ voice though, a look in her eyes that she only really got when she’d worked out the answer to a riddle. Oz sighed.

“When Miss Fall attempted to kill me, things backfired rather. Instead of outright killing me, I woke up like this. I’ve been recovering over the last month since almost dying did not leave me in the best health.” There was a humorous note to his voice, though that made the declaration no less terrifying. Cinder had killed Pyrrha after all and they had all heard that Professor Ozpin was missing. Had that been meant to be his fate, too?

“What does that have to do with the maidens?” Yang broke in, sounding impatient. Oz grinned at her, too, tipping his head in her direction.

“Cinder Fall is the current Fall maiden, as appears to have been her design all along. As for why her powers backfired when used on me, it would appear to have something to do with the fact that I am the current incarnation of the wizard.”

“… of course you are.” Yang sounded fed up now, the warning Raven had given her still ringing in the back of her brain. But even if Professor Ozpin was somehow untrustworthy, what danger could a ten year old really pose? Especially one that had been limping as heavily as this one had been when he first entered the house? Ozpin was dangerous, sure… but at ten he was many things, none of them the least bit intimidating.

The mood seemed slightly more relaxed now and none of them seemed particularly interested in seeing him prove that he had magic. Did that mean…

“Qrow, did you turn into a bird in front of them?” Oz was curious, though the relief very much showed in his tone. If Qrow had done that then it certainly would make things easier. He just hoped the children wouldn’t ask to be turned into birds too.

“Well, yeah, Oz. The story’s kinda unbelievable without some form of proof.” Qrow smirked at him, taking another swig from his flask. Oz blinked at that and opened his mouth to ask something else but ended up yawning widely. He winced even as Nora started to coo again.

“You, Are. Adorable!” She squealed, Oz turning a tired glare on her once more. He doubted it would have that much affect though since even on the journey to Mistral several people had taken time out of their schedules to tell Oscar and he both just how cute they looked. Neither one of them had appreciated it, but it didn’t look like it would be stopping any time soon.

Qrow got up, noticing just how tired Oz appeared. “C’mon, you two. I think you need to be in bed, I’ll show you up to the spare room we set up for you. Might need to grab an extra bed for Pipsqueak, though." Oscar looked vaguely offended at the term for a second, though it raised an interesting point. Qrow seemed to like giving people nicknames, he wondered just what he would come up with for Oz? Speaking of… he really was going to have to get used to calling him Tip, wasn’t he? For his own safety, they all were.

How old are they?

Ruby and Penny are both 16, both in 10th grade

Is Cinder’s team a threat?

Cinders team was! Yes! JNPR was another band that formed when RWBY did and while RWBY got involved with Adam, JNPR entered a battle of the bands that ended with them dropping out when another band, Cinders band, attacked their lead singer Pyrrha. Pyrrha is still alive, she’s just disabled now because of her injuries and doesn’t really like playing music anymore, so JNPR broke apart next. Cinder may or may not still be out there!

What college/school do they attend?

The high school that POWR attends is actually Beacon! The colleges the others attend are still unnamed, and JNPR is still at the high school for half a year because they failed their graduation year due to the Cinder incident.

Who is Salem and do Grimm exist?

Grimm do not exist in this au, and I believe that Salem is an old iconic musician that played with the legendary Oz, before they had a massive fight and broke apart, Salem massively changing her aesthetic and became quite the force to deal with for upcoming artists in the music world. But she won’t be in this au much!

New Dumb Rwby Au

because @notmaplemable brought up the idea of a self-replicating weapons nerd and that nerd also being a dumb birb, I have thought of something (if you know me that is dangerous). In this world, Summer Rose is a raptor. The feather-covered, pack-hunting raptor (monstergirl/faunus). something something Summer was a bit lonely, something something saw this as a chance for wizard dickery. So Summer ends up with Taiyang (that suspiciously has a passing resemblance to Chris Pratt) after he has Yang, and she to gives birth to a egg after a few months, cue the second semblance from the wizard (of Oz), self-replication. In this AU, Taiyang is the one who takes on the dangerous work because the silvered-eyed raptor-girl practically gets off from being a mother as little petal/claw tornado Ruby now has too little sisters. constantly needing to pay for repairs for the house. Eventually Taiyang replaces Summer on the Salem mission and disappears, and Yang became the next Chris Pratt, hand thing, motorcycles, and all, and a dozen little scars from her sisters. Eventually we arrive at Beacon and yang sees something incredible, Ruby forced not to be absolutely feral around two certain people, Weiss and Jaune. Weiss, she wouldn’t take Ruby shenanigans and Jaune seems to be unnaturally adept at handling her (seven sisters), Ruby was building a nest for him(?) and could take the punishment of teen raptor claws. Yang pulled her own Shenanigans and made Ozpin make the two of them “apprentice” under now-weaponsmith Summer Rose. In actuality it was mostly raptor-sitting. Weiss taught them some common sense, Jaune dealt with everything else. TLDR, Summer is a raptor and has a second semblance that makes her rival the Arc fucking.

tragic backstory (tm) au) while in the village a grimm swarm comes out of nowhere atlas is on the way but jaune and team must fight a desperate rearguard action to keep the fleeing villagers safe until the battleship can arrive. rwby is used as scouts picking off small groups of grimm and letting jaune know where the main group is before jaune rallies the men of the village and his own team to hammer and anvil strike the main body. the villagers might not have aura but the weight of several hundred knights in full plate with couched lances are more than enough to kill the grimm so long as they don't get bogged down that is. but while the brave heroes fight, something stirs within the forgotten dungeon of the keep the abandoned

Ozpin: You were shaky at first, but you grew more confident. In time, you'll be able to give orders with great confidence.

Jaune: Really? Thanks, Professor Ozpin!

Ozpin: But next time, try to save the panic attack after the Grimm are dead, not before giving the brief.

Jaune: Y-Yes, Professor.

(Looks around) Blake and Ren are providing cover on the perimeter. That just leaves me here in the courtyard. Alone. As the last line before the doors.

Ruby: (Via mic) Wrong~!

Jaune: Huh?

Pyrrha: Your mic was on. We heard everything, and we think you're doing a wonderful job as our leader.

Jaune: Thanks, Pyrrha.

Ruby: Professor Ozpin chose you for a reason, Jaune.

Jaune: And that reason is...?

Nora: You're the king!

Jaune: (Groans) Anything on the south side, Ruby?

Ruby: No, nothing yet.

Jaune: That's weird. (Looks at the map) The south is the least guarded perimeter of the town, but there aren't any Grimm? Hm... I'm gonna go check it out.

Pyrrha: Be careful, Jaune. It could be a trap.

Jaune: Maybe. (Approaches the south, Sees a crack in the ground) Huh? Hey, guys, I found something weird.

Yang: What'd you find?

Jaune: A crack.

Yang: Pretty sure that's your butt. ...Oh, don't get mad! Still, a crack isn't something to worry about is it?

Jaune: Maybe, but it just doesn't feel right. Not when there are no- WHOA!

Yang: You okay, Jaune?

Jaune: Yeah, I tripped. And... Holy crap.

Jaune: I can see a set of stairs through the crack. I think there's an underground passageway.

Yang: To where?

Jaune: I don't know. But I'm going to find out.

Yang: 'Sup, Rubes?

Blake: Once, when I was bored in the White Fang. But that's my point. The Grimm are so far and few inbetween, it's boring. Sure, there were dozens, maybe even hundred at the start, but only just enough are gathering to warrant our barest attention.

Ren: You think the Grimm are planning something?

Blake: The worst weapon the Grimm possess isn't their teeth and claws, but their tenacity and creativity.

Ren: Professor Port's first rule of Grimm.

Blake: Never underestimate them.

Adam: (Looks up) And who the hell are you?

???: (Hooded figure, Tight leather and cloth ensemble) I am your salvation, should you accept my offer.

Adam: And what is your offer, human?

Adam: Mutual vengeance? Against who?

???: I will reveal all when the time is right. For now, (Grabs guard's hand, Presses it against the palm reader) let us take the first step together, and prove that you are a worthy student. (Door beeps once, Opens)

Adam: (Stands) And what should I call you, my mystery savior?

Wei: I am Wei, Grandmaster of the Luna Tribe Moon Dancers. And I can sense great things coming.

My Through the Ashes PC Ansoc starts out as a farmhand. He's never dreamt of going on adventures himself, though he often thinks about what it would be like if he were a different person, someone more exceptional. He's also younger in this AU, in his teens like Dorothy was.

Of course, the tornado comes and takes him to the land of Oz. His house lands on the Witch of the East. The Witch of the North explains the situation to him, gives him the ruby buckles and tells him to go to the emerald city to see the Wizard. To be honest, this is an AU I didn't really develop that much. I mostly focused on my other three Pathfinder PC's (Katala, Lenarius, and Irissil), who are the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion, respectively.

There is a twist to this AU in that, unlike other versions of the Wizard of Oz, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion are actually happy with they way they are at first. They don't accompany Ansoc to the Wizard hoping he can fix them. They have their own reasons to go to the Emerald City, as will be explained in the next paragraphs (it should also be noted that Katala, Lenarius, and Irissil are still humanoids, and not actually props/animals; they just kind of take on the themes of those items/creatures).

Ansoc meets Katala when walking past a field. Katala goes into this spiel about how being smart is overrated and that it's much easier/simpler to trust her instincts. Also, many "smart" people are just up their own asses anyway. She volunteers to help Ansoc get to the Emerald City because she sees that this kid is lost and wants to help him get home.

They meet Lenarius in a village where s/he is the presiding magistrate. They find him/her hearing the case of a rich man who engaged in fraud. The man tries to bribe Lenarius into commuting the sentence, which only makes Lenarius slap on an even larger punishment, and the bailiff takes the man away kicking and screaming. At first Ansoc and Katala enjoy the spectacle, but then the next case comes before Lenarius: a struggling innkeeper is being fined for not keeping his business up to code. The man pleads with Lenarius; his business wouldn't survive the fine he'd have to pay. Lenarius does not budge and tells him he has to pay his fine within a certain number of days or face prison. The innkeeper walks away in tears.

Ansoc and Katala are horrified and confront him/her over this decision and ask how s/he could ruin this man's life like that. Lenarius gives a speech about how his line of work requires him/her to be heartless and derides them for being so soft-hearted and that they can never hope to make the decisions s/he makes every day. However, s/he is also headed towards the Emerald City, as his/her post at the village is done, and s/he needs to deliver a report to his/her superiors. Ansoc and Katala begrudgingly take him/her along.

On their way to the Emerald City, the group has to go through the forest. When they get there, they see signs posted everywhere, detailing the various hazards and warning to stay on the path. Katala gets fed up with the signs and declares that they can get to the Emerald City much faster if they cut through the forest. Just as she veers off the path, Irissil appears and tells her that the forest is dangerous. Irissil is the ranger of the forest and has set up the numerous signs. When Katala asks if maybe Irissil is overdoing it, Irissil tells her that the world is dangerous and uncaring and how easily the careless meet untimely and preventable deaths. Irissil would rather be fastidious and alive than bold and dead. When she asks, Ansoc tells her that they are going to the Emerald City, and Irissil tells them that she might as well come along and make sure they don't die in a ditch somewhere.

The three companions are forced to rethink their ideals when Ansoc is told that he has to confront the Witch of the West before the Wizard will see him and later when Ansoc gets kidnapped by that witch. Despite having carried out his/her mission in the Emerald City, Len cannot bring him/herself to let this teenager face a powerful witch alone (of course s/he justifies his/her decision by saying that they can't let this criminal keep running loose). Katala realizes that they can't just force their way through overwhelming odds and uses a special wit she didn't know she had to overcome. Irissil has to make a snap decision and throw caution to the wind to save Ansoc's life.

It ends the same way as the Wizard of Oz. The Wizard is a fraud who can't send Ansoc home. Ansoc has to get help from another witch, who tells him to use the ruby slippers. Ansoc eventually returns home.

Well, I'm watching volume 3 and honestly I have so many thoughts about it I'm gonna make a first half and second half post. Buckle up because y'all now this is a wild ride! Also buckle up because this is were I start having some very controversial opinions lol.s

The show was airing the first half of this volume when I first got into it (it was somehow because of some amazing Ever After High fanart lol I still remember) so actually, Yang and Mercury's fight was my first experienced hiatus, you can imagine my distress lol.

Every volume the list of women who could step on me grows. But honestly, Winter is on top of that list. It's like they created her with all my weaknesses in mind...

The vytal festival fights are hilarious lol as the kids said, It was nice to see them all fight in a controlled and friendly enviroment instead of fighting actual murderers.

Yatsu and Coco and that poor team in the chapter 1 flashback did fight actual murderers tho, RIP to them (?

It's brawl in the family will forever be one of my favorite episodes lol Winter and Qrow simply steal the show everytime they're on the screen!

Also, I get other ships with the characters and understand why people doesn't like Snowbird... But I've had many people who don't watch the show watch that fight scene and the general consensus is always that they were flirting. That's the most sexual tension I've seen in this show, and we've had actual romantic partners interacting more than once lol

Anyways I ship Snowbird/Qrowin...

Subject change. Remember that scene when Mercury goes to tell Cinder he saw Qrow? At the end Cinder tells he and Emmerald to 'go to their rooms' ...but arem't they supposedly sharing a room since they're partners? Beacon teams all share a room so I don't get why they wouldn't lol.

I wish we could've seen more of Ciel Soleil, honestly, she was such a cutie lol. Kinda hoping She's brought back someday. If you are a fanfic writer and haven't tried to use Ciel as something like Penny's awkward and superserious bodyward in an AU, you should think about It, girl has potential!

"If you were one of my men I'd have you shot!" "if I were one of your men I'd shot myself" still one of the most iconic and epic moments in the series lol Go Qrow!!

Neon!!! God I loved Neon in this volume lol that girl is insuferable! She's also GayAF, I know It.

I'm the one is such a banger of a song! Top 3 of the volume, easily. Also, that fight is awesome, I adore seeing all the clues for what happened next now that, you know, I know what happened next lol.

Velvet worried about Coco <3 let these two be girlfriends!!

Winter fighting Qrow because he was drunk it's so painful after we learn about her family life. Trauma is a bitch.

Also, can I just say that I miss Willow? I knew I was gonna love her, but it was even more than I was expecting, I hope we get more Willow soon.

That scene in Ozpin's office when Ironwood looks at Oz, Glynda and Qrow before sighing and leaving is so telling of where his story was going. He was part of a team, yet he felt like it was him against the world. It's sad how much the others tried to show him their trust, but he was so into his fear that he couldn't see it.

I know this is a very controversial topic for the whole FNDM and that it was disproved multiple times, but I'll never get why would it be so bad if Ruby was Qrow's daughter. The signs are all there, It would make so much sense, and I don't feel it would've taken anything from the story. Alas, it wasn't meant to be*shrugs*

Penny tackling Ruby to the ground as a greeting is tradition <3 also she's always looking back at Ruby with the biggest smile on her face before leaving <3 God Penny is the most adorable girl I've ever seen. And my Nuts and Dolts shipping heart is so happy<3 and sad

Seeing Weiss and Winter interact always warms and breaks my heart at the same time, it's so obvious there's a lot of love there, but half of the time they don't really know how to show it. Again, trauma is a bitch.

Yang, baby </3 my heart breaks for you everytime I watch chapter 6. Honestly, I never fully forgave Mercury after that lol.

Pyrrha. Deserved. Better. Say it with me Rooster teeth!!!! God the whole vault scene is painful.

Also, Glynda: "We're still the same headmasters and teachers you knew the day you arrived to Beacon" Pyrrha: "This is literally the first time I met half the people here!"

I stan my point that Ironwood was hoping to have Penny eventually become a maiden and that's why she exist in the first place. I'm guessing the whole thing with the virus made him reconsider and that's why he turned to Winter later? Maybe?

Anyways, I still can't believe this is the tame half of the volume. I guess time to keep going and get my heart rip apart again. Good talk guys!

💕 Beetle Hopper, OUAT? —Nic

Nic, hi!! I don't know how much you're actually aware of Beetle's lore, so (like I did with the Yarrow ask) I'll summarise it here.

Basically, Beetle's family lives by a crop of poppies that grow in the water of the river Lethe (the one which takes your memories.) This field of poppies is close to Oz (though they don't visit much.) The field is protected by a spell, that needs at least 1 of the spell-casters descendants to uphold it. This also means that they go through life invisible (so it's more of a curse, really.)

At on point on one of Beetle's mothers' excursions she gets sick, and the spell starts to break. So, Beetle goes into town and (by talking with Granny Lucas and Ruby*) gets told to go and get help from the dark one (it's Rumplestiltskin, at this point.) This works out, but they take a spell from him -- which, when read, turns them into a beetle. On the way home, Beetle tries the spell and turns into a beetle. They fly to the lake that's next to the poppies and is stuck in beetle form until after the curse is passed. Their mother is cured, but due to the time away from Beetle doesn't remember them.

Later, when the season 3 curse hits Beetle wanders their way to the farm, and falls into a poppy induced sleep. Their mother wakes them up, and Ruby is there to watch (she only got in there as they're true love.) This, however, makes it so that when Beetle crosses the border they lose the memory of their mother (although these memories do come back when they are woken up by Ruby in 5.15**).

*Granny says that there's no hope and Ruby tells them about him.

**This is also canon in the Belle/Beetle/Ruby canon (the evermore au), just in different circumstances (which I haven't figured out yet.)

So, yeah, it's a whole mess (much like the ouat wiki page.)

Gideon is adopted by Belle in the canon divergent au, so Beetle is one of Gideon's parents. He calls her B.

Beetle's order at Granny's is a hot chocolate and a muffin or tea. The also come into Granny's to draw, on their breaks.

They are a swim teacher during the curse.

Ruby 100% fell first, but Beetle was the one who initiated the relationship.

After the curse their ability to turn into a beetle came back almost immediately, but they found themselves being tired after the transformation It took a while to regain that control.

How would a reconciliation between Qrow and Ozpin go, in both scenarios of team RWBY returning back before the two meet, or they meet again in Vacuo before team RWBY returns? What backstory and Semblance do you assign to Canon Show Ozpin? In what in canon did Ozpin and Oscar help each other grow, in your opinion? And what would that mutual growth be in your OCIN AU? Do you think his secrecy was justified and had a point before the fall of Beacon and Amber's attack? Do you think he was right to choose Pyrrha as the top and first candidate to be the next Fall Maiden? What does the relationship between Qrow and Ozpin in the show look like to you, and was it healthy or not? Why?

General Oz Thoughts

Canon Ozpin I think is someone who’s wise, and who does genuinely love humanity. However, his challenge is then that while he loves humanity, he does in a way that’s distant from it and more abstract than based on actual connections with others. He’s untrusting of others, but at the same time can be too trusting in his students abilities to the point of recklessness, which is what can lead to situations like Hazel’s sister dying and his lack of worry about letting Ruby, a 15 year old, take on seasoned criminals. I do think a virtue of his is that he’s self-aware tho, and he does care a lot about his students being safe despite some of the recklessness that can put them in danger. His tendency to keep secrets is really his greatest flaw tho

For his canon backstory/Semblance, I think it would be roughly the same as in the age swap. We know his Semblance is powerful, and I based Time Dilation off of the afterimages he had when fighting Cinder. I think he was a bookish kid who lives with his parents at a traveling circus, and when he was in his late teens he started hearing from the last Ozcarnation. Since then, he pursued study at Beacon and became the headmaster when he was in his early twenties, meeting STRQ in his first years as headmaster when them being first year students

Ozpin and Qrow

I think that Ozpin and Qrow meeting again would go a lot better if Team RWBY gets back first considering that Qrow doesn’t know Ozpin is back and being helpful. I don’t think either way that it’ll be an immediate reconciliation, but I do think that it will go faster if Ozpin has Team RWBY to vouch for him. There was a pretty massive betrayal of trust there after all

I don’t think the friendship between Qrow and Ozpin is necessarily the healthiest, mainly bcs of Ozpin’s tendency to keep secrets. I do think he does care for Qrow, but he’s holding back and not completely trusting him and that creates a power imbalance

Ozpin and Oscar

You mentioned it before with a previous ask, but the key thing here is that Oscar is able to help Ozpin grow through being more trusting and connected to others, while Ozpin helps Oscar grow through sharing his experience. I think that in the age swap au, Oscar will be helping Ozpin with his self-confidence. Then Ozpin will help Oscar to be more connected to others and open to help

Ozpin’s Choices

I think that his secrecy had pros and cons. On one hand, I think keeping secrets about specifics from the general public is for the best. Knowing where the relics are is not a good idea, and it could be dangerous to let just anyone know who the Maidens are. There’s also reason to be cautious about sharing info about Salem considering that would create a lot of fear, which would then attract Grimm. But all the secret keeping is a double edged sword, with that making it so when secrets do comes out they do harm, and it means people are less organized and ready for the threat that comes from Salem. His secrecy had a purpose, but that doesn’t mean it could contribute to bad things

Choosing Pyrrha really seemed like a bad call tho. She might have been capable, but she was 17. She shouldn’t have had that burden placed on her, especially from a bunch of authority figures telling her it’s the only way to save the world. How could anyone say no to that? Finding someone who had actually graduated and become a Huntress would’ve been better
