So, very interesting episode Firstly the lose end,Alex was from vacuo pre war as many suspected.

Then the merge of Oz and Oscar, many people will be scared by how "quickly" Oscar has merged but remember it has been a good few months by the time RWBY&J get back to vacuo and we don't know when this little chat is happening.

I wonder if Jaunes journal will become significant later, perhaps he'll get inspired by it and know how to trap Salem or something

But I am enjoying it, it brought a tear when JNPR where at that campfire and the art style is still amazing.

Very concerned about how the Oscar and Ozpin merge is going for Oscar specifically. Jaune talking to him and Oscar saying “I’ve been the subject of a few fairytales myself” sounding so much like Ozpin you kinda can’t tell who’s in control until Jaune asks him to clarify if he’s talking about Ozpin or not. When Oscar corrects himself, clearing his throat and continuing on as if nothing were wrong, you can STILL hear a bit of Ozpin’s speech cadence in his voice. He can’t control it anymore, at least when it comes to his vernacular (and physically, we’ve all seen how he stands with the cane just like Ozpin did as early as v7).

Not to mention Ren’s choice words in the epilogue; “I hope you two are well”, he knows that the merge isn’t going well and is going out of his way to separate the two when he talks about them.

Idk. We’re only two episodes into beyond (and I’m not sure how many are planned in full), but the merge seems to be a big talking point for everyone right now, even subtly.

Context: Ozma doesn't reincarnate till the modern day (current era) and he gets reincarnated into Jaune, Salem isn't the Queen of Grimm and is still waiting for Ozma, Jaune's goal is to live his life to his fullest before Ozpin completely takes over while helping Ozma find Salem. While Ozma wants to help Jaune live his dream before he eventually takes over.

so i was thinking about the similarities between cinder and zuko, and then i was thinking about zukka, and then i thought "why isn't cinder in any red and blue parings?" and then i realized RWBY doesn't have many red and blue gays because it has colors woven directly into the plot and it uses the color wheel. we have red and green gays instead

a bunch of these are a bit of a stretch, and there's lots of characters this theory doesn't work for, but you can see there's a pattern here !! you find a character, look at the opposite side of the wheel, and there's someone they're closely associated with. blake and yang are confirmed to be soulmates with their complimenting aura colors, so that lines up too. i just think it's neat!!WAIT I FORGOT ABOUT WHITEROSE. but whiterose could also work with this theory because ruby's eyes are silver and weiss's old primary color was white...

Oscar couldn’t have fallen into the Ever After because the Blacksmith would’ve taken one look at Ozma and been like “let’s get you a permanent body my dude” and yanked him out of Oscar’s head and the merge/reincarnation plot line would’ve been over.

so i’ve been thinking about oscar and ozmosis a lot and nobody is surprised but anyways

so that entails thinking about the original ozma and his ‘choice’ to reincarnate although it wasn’t much of one

and i want to talk about that!

this is gonna be really long so everything under the cut

SO!

he didn’t know what it would entail and now he’s been thrown into an eternity of dying, being reborn, merge, and repeat which essentially puts them in a constant state of motion, never getting to take a break

but we all know the tragedy of this, immortality is a curse first and foremost and i like to talk about that BUT that’s not the point of this post. because i’m already planning to go further in depth with that <3

but i want to talk about the reason he’s in this situation, the one who gave him this ‘choice’

so for a while i was like. wait. why would the gods bring ozma back if they made salem immortal so they could never be together until she learned her lesson?

but then i thought about it. and i realized that’s exactly why they choose him.

because of course there were other human heroes they could choose from, why would they choose ozma? it feels like he’d be the least likely choice because of salem, she’d never learn her lesson if they brought him back

but then think about it from their side. what incentive would anyone have to come back to life? everyone they know and love would be in the afterlife with them, they have no need to return.

except oz would. because how could he say no with the knowledge that the person he loves is still there, alone, forever?

how little of a choice he already have—who would decline a job directly from the gods to save humanity—now with the knowledge that she was alive? how could he possibly say no?

he didn’t even get to think about what would happen if he and salem fought. he didn’t get to think about what this ‘life’ would entail because he heard that she was still alive and he could go back to be with her.

and then the love they had turned to hate, only now that he was all alone he could truly realize the horrible consequences of that choice. only now could he realize how cruel this really was.

that the brief time of love that he’d experienced was in exchange for an eternity of suffering.

RWBY Shion’s Allusion

*Shion is canonically non-binary, so I will be using they/them to address this character

Shion Zaiden is a character introduced in RWBY’s recent anime spinoff, Ice Queendom. Their occupation is a special kind of huntsman. Using their dream catcher, they hunt Grimm that occupy people’s bodies and minds.

Besides this, we know next to nothing about this unique character. So today let’s see if we can possibly find an allusion to tie them with and possibly find any source of motives or possible backstory.

Let’s go through what we know about Shion. As said before they are a huntsman that specializes in Possession type Grimm, the Nightmare, due to their unique dream wandering semblance. Shion also seems to have a fairly unique fashion sense, sporting large portions of drapey purple topped with a pointed almost witch-like hat. After doing some tough research, I think I found a good candidate.

Let me introduce you to Woot the Wanderer from The Tin Man of Oz, the twelfth entry of the Wizard of Oz books. Woot the Wanderer is a boy from Gillikan Country who travels around the world of dreams, the Lands of Oz, in search of new experiences and people.

The people of Gillikan Country are represented by the color purple. Shion wears a lot of heavy purples, just like the Gillikan people. Shion is also named after the purple flower, Aster Tataricus. Additionally, Woot is often depicted with a large cone hat and walking staff, which translates into Shion’s witch hat and dreamcatcher.

Shion was called by Ozpin, which connects the Wizard of Oz characters together. After helping team RWBY, Shion ventures out to Remnant in search of other Nightmares, such as Woot venturing out into the World of Oz for adventure.

Woot is only in one of the Oz books, so in a way it’s fitting that Shion is sort of one and done. Still, they were a pleasent addition to the cast, and I hope we can see more of them in the future, maybe even in the OG show proper.

The Promise

Inside a cabin with a group of people all with a sad expression on their faces, a young man is looking at rain through the window.

?: it's almost as all of Remnant is crying.

Just then a woman came out from another room and walk toward to the young man.

Woman: my grandfather would see now.

The young man walks into the room and saw an old man laying in his bed breathing heavily.

Old man: I'm sorry I forgot what's the name this one again?

?:(smile) it's oswald but you know you can call by my real name.

Old man: good to see again Ozma.

Ozma: it's good to see you to Lewis.

Ozma took a seat next to bed

Ozma: I came as fast as I could as soon as I got your letter.

Lewis: I ain't got much time, what I'm about to ask you would be hard to believe.

Ozma:(giggling) Lewis, I'm an immortal Who Sold possess a new body after dying, I think I will believe what you're about to say.

Lewis: there's a young man(coughing)...his name is Jaune Arc, I request that you accept him into Beacon.

Ozma: I will, this Arc kid must be really special where did you meet him.

Lewis: this is where the hard to believe part comes in, I met him in the Ever After.

Ozma: that's impossible you were 17 when you went to the Ever After and the only other human there beside you and Alyx was(realizing) The Rusted Knight.

Lewis: I didn't realize till after I return to Remnant but I think Jaune came from the future.

Ozma: what make you think that?

Lewis: because I ask him where he learn to fight, he said he use to go to Beacon Academy.

Ozma expression change to shock.

Lewis: when Alyx and I fell Beacon Academy was build but wasn't open yet, so how did he become a huntsman?

Ozma: Unless he came from the future.

Lewis soon started having trouble breathing then grab Ozma hand.

Lewis: ......promise....me...you will accept...Jaune Arc.

Ozma: I promise.

Ozma called out to Lewis family as they came into the room, Lewis breathing less and less.

With his last breath Lewis tell his family that he loves them all and just like that he was gone.

Ozma: I promise Lewis.

200 years later

Now as Ozpin, He is looking through transcripts for new students then glynda walks in.

Glynda: so have decided who to accept into the school.

Ozpin: almost.

Glynda: almost! Ozpin We got to start sensing Acception letters soon before the year starts.

Ozpin: Calm down Glynda I only got one spot left to fill I just can't decide who to pick.

He looked up and saw glynda was holding and on envelope.

Ozpin: what do got there?

Glynda: This is a late entry I was about to threw it away.

Ozpin: can I see wouldn't hurt to take a look.

Glynda:(handed him him the envelope) can you pick someone already like her, Cinder fall look she'll make a good student........

As Glynda keep talking Ozpin open the envelope and was shock to see the name on the transcript Jaune Arc he couldn't believe it.

Ozpin begin reading it and could tell that this transcript is fake but couldn't help feel a little impressed in how Determine Jaune is to get into Beacon.

Ozpin: I decided he would be will accepted.

Glynda: but he missed the deadline.

Ozpin: true but as headmaster it's my decision.

He handed Glynda the transcript and she leaves.

Ozpin lean back into his chair and took a ship of his coffee, he doesn't know how or when Jaune would end up in the Ever After but All he cares about right now is that he finally fulfilled a promise to a friend.

Ozpin: Welcome to Beacon MR.Arc.

RWBY Winter Tales

May the Power Protect You

Ozma struggled to his feet as he crawled through the mud.

Salem: It's over, Ozma. You and your precious warriors have failed. Why don't you just accept your defeat and stop prolonging your suffering?

Ozma continued crawling, desperate to get away from Salem. She looked over him and shook her head. His self-righteous streak was admirable, yet infuriating. She took a few steps and grabbed her spear, stamping onto him. Raising it high, she plunged it sharply into his back. A visceral scream escaped his mouth. Blood seeped out from his back and deep into the mud, his breathing became weaker and his vision was fading. With the little strength he had, he clasped his hands together and uttered a spell.

Ozma: I call upon you... *coughs violently* the power of the Ancients... *coughs violently* guide my hand so that I may find someone worthy to carry on the legacy of the Rangers... go with my blessing and may the Power protect you....

Faint lights of the colours red, white, black and yellow appeared from his hands and scattered up into the sky. With one last smile, Ozma succumbed to his wounds and died.

[Remnant 207 M.A.]

Ruby walked beside Blake as they were returning home from shopping. Throughout the journey, Ruby was holding onto Blake's arm to stabilise herself on the slippery, icy pavement.

Blake: Ruby, you should've put on your new boots.

Ruby: I didn't want the ice to wreck them.

Blake: You sure you didn't want an excuse to grab onto my arm.

Ruby: Wha-? No! I- *mad blushing*

Blake: *small chuckle* Relax, I'm just teasing you.

Ruby: Hmmmmph! J-Just keep walking!

Blake and Ruby made it to the Rose-Xiao Long house and gave each other short hugs before they were about to go their separate ways.

Ruby: B-Blake, wait! Um... do you- uh. *shuffles foot*

Blake: Yes, Ruby?

Ruby: D-Do you, uh... *sighs* never mind, I'll see you tomorrow.

Ruby opened the door and was greeted by the grinning faces of her parents, Taiyang and Summer, and half-sister, Yang.

Yang: So??? Give me the good news!

Ruby: ...I didn't ask her out.

Tai: Aww, sweetie. Come here. *hugs Ruby*

Ruby: I just froze up again... Blake will never go for me.

Yang: Hey don't say that. Listen, Ruby, you're a great girl. You're cute, smart, funny and no one has as much enthusiasm for ancient Remnant weapons as much as you do. Blake's bound to get a kick out of that as a history geek herself.

Ruby: *giggles*

Yang: Don't be too hard on yourself. Everyone gets nervous.

Tai: Yang's right, sweetheart. Lord knows how much of a wreck I was before I asked out your mom.

Summer: Oh he's not kidding, it's quite the tale. Come on over, the Shepherd's pie is getting cold.

Ruby: Thanks everyone. You really know how to help out.

They sat together for a warm, delicious meal. With one bite, Ruby hummed as she felt the troubles of her day melt away. After they had finished, they all gathered around the TV to watch the latest news. Several UFOs had been sighted all across Remnant.

Ruby: You really think aliens are out there?

Yang: *shrugs* Who knows? Though if they did exist, I'll challenge them to race with my trusty Flamethrower. Spaceship vs motorcycle!

Ruby: *rolls eyes* Of course you would.

Ruby decided to leave the living room for a while in order to put away the shopping she had bought. As she walked upstairs, she saw a faint, glowing red light from the corner of her bedroom door. She felt a lump in her throat and her heartbeat started racing. Slowly, Ruby crept forward and reached out her hand against the door. A gentle push followed and she dropped the bags. Sitting on her bed was a bright red, watch-like device, with a rose emblem at the center.

Ruby: ...What the hell? *slowly takes the device*

Device: *humming sound* Now accessing Morphing Grid. Match in progress. *whirring* Match complete. Subject is matched with The Power of Roses. Red Ranger confirmed.
