DP x DC Prompt: The New Teacher

(So, I've seen a lot of prompts that have Danny go to Gotham and be a teacher but I don't remember seeing any with it in this direction, so on the chance that this is an original idea here we go!)

Jason was given a choice, or multiple choices. Babysit the Replacement on a mission that could last a week, go to Bludhaven and have some 'brother bonding time' with Dick who needed backup on a big case, or take a temp solo-gig in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere called Amity Park.

Well, considering he was still a bit hurt about the fact that B replaced him all those years ago and the pit loved to grab hold of that bit of frustrations towards his younger brother, that didn't seem like a smart idea. Dick wasn't an option either because he knew that would lead to 'talking about feelings' and other shit that he didn't want to do.

So he took the solo-gig.

It was supposed to be easy, at least that's what had been implied by the others he'd spoken to about the case. It seemed like most of the Justice League thought this situation was being 'exaggerated' because most of the time when somebody checked out what was going on there was nothing happening. No big take over, or kidnapping, or 'end of the world' situation, but there had been too many calls to put Bruce's mind at ease. The frequent calls mixed with the fact that the Government apparently had the area under a 'black out' made Bruce even more nervous.

Hell, if it hadn't been for the fact that Bruce was famous and that Scarecrow, Penguin and Riddler had all escaped from Arkham he would have been doing the case himself.

Which is how Jason ended up in a restraunt named 'Nasty Burger' looking at the news papers he had managed to get from a stand down the street while taking notes of things he had already seen. It wasn't just that the Government had cut them off, all of the tech in the city was easily 20 years outdated compared to the rest of the world.

Nokia phones, chunky computers, hell he'd even seen a kid with a PDA of all things. Thankfully, it looked like his tech still worked other than running slower than it should have, but thanks to modifications made by Barbara and Tim things were running better than he expected. But, they did struggle to have access to anything, specifically the news.

Hence the paper.

Ghost Boy: Friend or Fiend. A new vote cast by the city has found that the Ghost Boy - Danny Phantom - has had an astounding rise in support after the events over the Christmas Holiday. The new polls suggest that 43% of Citizens support Danny Phantom, with the majority of his support coming from the students at Casper High who insist that Phantom is a hero who has saved them countless times over the past few months. 49% of people still agree, however, that Phantom appears to be at the center of the majority of the attacks with many still claiming that he is the sole cause of the attacks. However, 8% of the population remain undecided, including many teachers, police and hospital staff. Upon seeing the new results of the pole Mayor Montez had this to say; "While I will admit that Phantom appears to favor the younger generation and frequently seems to come to their aid, we cannot forget what it has done in the past. Taken hostages, injured innocents, and caused millions in property damage. Phantom may not be a 'villain' in the typical sense of the word, but we shouldn't blindly trust him just because of a few good deeds."

So there was a... hero? Half hero - potentially villain - in Amity Park? That might have explained some of the calls they'd gotten from Amity park over the past few months. Still, he was concerned by some parts of the report.

Students at a high school were frequently coming under attack? So much that this potential-villain kept saving them? Just what was the cause? What could cause so many issues?

Jason looked up as he saw that same PDA kid talking with a girl with short black hair in a half-ponytail who was wearing a black crop-top. The girl seemed annoyed while the boy seemed worried about something.

"But it's Vlad, Sam... what if he does something?" He heard the boy whisper, "We should go back him up..."

"He doesn't need our help, besides Jazz ran away from home, remember? She got herself into this mess it's her problem to get out of it. Something that Danny should have learned a long time ago."

Jason frowned, pretending not to hear them as he hesitated then got up and walked over to the two younger teens. "Hey, excuse me."

The girl looked annoyed and suspicious while the boy looked confused.

"Uh, yeah?" Tucker asked.

"Hey, sorry to bug you both. But could you guys tell me about this... 'Danny Phantom' person?" He asked, holding the newspaper out.

The girl looked even more suspicious, "And... who are you?"

"And how haven't you heard of Phantom?" Asked the boy.

"I just moved to town." Jason admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "So, I'm just trying to catch up on all the town drama."

"You moved to Amity Park... willingly? Psh, what do you have, a deathwish?" The girl grumbled.

"Come on, I just moved from Gotham, which is worse?"

The girl blinked as the boy laughed.

"Furries vs Ghosts, who will win~" He said as the girl elbowed him. "Ow! What?!"

"Danny Phantom is a hero." The girl explained, "He showed up in April and has been protecting the town since."

"A hero, huh? Could always use more of those in the world, but the mayor seems to have it out for him."

Tucker sighed, "No kidding, man. Somebody framed Phantom for something really bad and no matter what he does to try to fix it the city just see's that incident as the only thing he's ever done. It was the first big 'public thing' outside of the high school so it was huge but it wasn't his fault."

The girl reached for her phone suddenly, looking at it before she answered. "Hey, Danny. What's up?" She was quiet for a moment, "Yeah, we're at Nasty Burger, wanna join us? Lunch on me?"

A quiet mumble came through the speaker before she smirked.

"I'll order for you then. Double or triple?"

More mumbles.

"Triple it is. See you soon." She said, then hung up. "Come on, Tuck, Danny is on his way for lunch."

"Hell yeah, see you later, dude." The boy said, then jogged off with the girl.

"A teacher? Yeah, it looks like there's some openings but why would you want to have your cover as a teacher?" Oracle asked as Jason sat in his hotel room, looking through the paper again.

"Most of the incidents seem to surround the High School, I want to see what's going on."

Oracle hummed, typing for a moment. "Alright, well as luck will have it, it looks like teachers are sparse at Amity High, at least from what I'm able to get using your connection... which is infuriatingly slow, by the way, are you sure you did it right?"

"I've done it a million times, of course I did it right."

Oracle grumbled, "Stupid Amity black-out. Okay, so you have options. Most of the teachers have fucked off so all of the teachers in Freshmen year switch around to cover lessons or do mixed lessons. For example the English teacher also teaches Math and the normal Math teacher also teaches Science. So it looks like you could have any position you want and the school would just shuffle around the teachers."

"You said English is taken, right?"

"Yep, the teacher is named William Lancer and he- oh... wait, he's on a leave of absence due to injuries he suffered over Christmas Break. Concussion, broken arm, and bruised ribs, he'll be out for a few weeks."

Jason smirked, "Perfect. Sign me up."

". . . Jason, the English and Math teacher... never thought I'd see the day. Alright, I'll type up your application, send it in and casually push it to the front of the line. You'll be official by the time Winter Break ends in a few days. So get studying."

"Sounds like a plan, but I'll be fine, I mean our family is crazy and i deal with criminals on a nightly basis. How hard could this assignment really be?"

He would regret asking that question by the end of his first day as an Amity High School teacher.

I am procrastinating homework and finals studying so I'm making another DPxDC au -- or more accurately, I am making an au of an au. or combining two aus to make a third one, because I am Procastinating And thinking about it.

(the part two for my Danny is Jason Todd au is like,,, half-made and I will get around to finishing it, promiiissse)

So the two aus I had in mind were combining, of course, the two clone aus - the Danny Clone and the Damian Clone au. For folks who haven't seen either posts (or saw one but not the other) here are summaries of both:

Damian Clone Au: The LoA make a clone of Damian Wayne specifically to either kill Damian Wayne and have the clone take his place as the heir to the LoA, or to bring him back. At 6 years old though and through magical teleportation mishaps, Baby Damian ends up in the warehouse district of Amity Park and picked up (and later adopted) by Danny Fenton. They develop a brotherly dynamic with one another.

Danny Clone Au: Danny is straight up a clone of Bruce Wayne, doesn't find out until a year after he has his accident. And, for the fun of it, is also mostly-powerless (he retains his ghost sense and a semblance of a ghost core and signature, but no ghost form). His reasoning for becoming Phantom is because he has walked into the lab watching his parents dissecting ghosts post-portal working more times than he can count. And due to this, changes his beliefs from "ghosts are evil" to "ghosts are sentient and sapient beings who don't deserve this treatment". (masterpost pinned on my blog, its currently incomplete) He is also a little GNC, as a treat. Long-haired Danny ftw. Ellie is a halfa because of the ectoplasm that Vlad used, and also the same age as Danny. They call each other twins and she is viciously protective of him. He uses a baseball bat and brass knuckles that I call 'jawbreakers' to fight ghosts.

Now admittedly, not much probably changes with the combination of these aus other than the potential parallels between Damian and Danny, and Bruce and Damian - and of course, I am always a sucker for parallels. Plus Damian's running off would take Danny finding him much longer, since he can no longer fly, but all the more meaningful because he still took so much time to find him.

(It probably also makes their first meeting different as well - Danny wears a ROTTMNT Casey Jones Jr. esq. mask when he goes out, but Damian would recognize lazarus green anywhere. He'd probably try harder to kill him though once he sees his face, since he knows that its not his father but an imposter.)

It also includes what I consider a hilarious conversation: "Since I'm a clone of Bruce Wayne, does this make me your dad or your brother?" "Don't be an idiot, laeazir." "You didn't answer my question."

The biggest change that comes from this is, of course, the fact that Danny now no longer has a leg to stand on with the "you're a human, I am a ghost" excuse in order to prevent Damian to help him with ghost-fighting, because now Danny is also a squishy, fleshy and fragile human just like Damian. And a human who, arguably, has less combat training than Damian and no powers to make up for it.

Now, Danny in both aus are about 16-17-ish in age, so they've had time to adapt to their new vigilante-hero lifestyle, but its still not the same as Damian's training as an assassin. Damian, unlike in the original clone au, remains insistent on his want to help Danny.

And,,, eventually wears him down after weeks or months of sneaking out after him, helping in fights, interfering, arguing, etc. Danny eventually agrees, exhausted, but he makes Damian promise, promise, that he will be careful and to focus on dodging and distraction. At least until Danny can figure out a safer alternative. He wants him as far removed from the fight as he can, he's a child for ancient's sake, after all.

Which is another issue too - if we follow Damian Clone timeline, then Damian is six years old when this happens. I'll be point blank, I do not see Danny ever actually agreeing to let a literal 6 year old go with him. SO, solution, I bump Damian's age to 7 when he arrives in the Fenton Family, and make him freshly eight years old when he finally gets Danny to agree.

It still SUCKS. He is still very much an itty bitty child, but as someone who has seen the difference between a six year old and an eight year old due to working at a daycare, an eight year old is still... slightly feasible. And an 8 year old assassin even more so (even if he hasn't trained properly in nearly a year or so)

So Danny, reluctantly, agrees to let Damian come with him on patrols.

He ghost-proofs Damian's sword (as he has since learned to do with his bat and jawbreakers), makes him a grappling hook and a Fenton thermos, and reluctantly lets Damian come with in his old LoA uniform that he appeared in (with some tailoring and ghost-proofing, because he has since begun to grow out of the uniform).

(and Danny himself also finally starts looking into alternatives to improve his own "suit" - which is all but a hoodie and reinforced jeans and a hockey mask. He needs to set an example to his little brother, goddammit.)

Then, as they're planning for Damian's eventual (dreaded on Danny's part) debut, they sit in their shared room and brainstorm for what to call Damian. "Ellie already uses the name Spirit." Danny says, sitting criss-cross at his desk with the eraser nub of a pencil chewed between his teeth.

(Behind him he has an investigative corkboard set up -- his accident left him with the ability to see ghosts not capable of being seen on the visible plane. 'Stereotypical' ghosts. Between school work, his social life, and ghost fighting, some of his downtime is spent figuring out ways to help them move on. His most recent is a cold case.)

(Bc with Danny, I loove to have him have some sort of trait that ties him in with his original counterpart. Nature vs Nurture and all that. Investigative work can be part of that.)

"What about Wraith?" Damian suggests from the floor, leaning against the bed frame while he goes over one of his english books. They've been practicing his reading and writing.

Danny furrows his brows. "A ghost seen typically shortly after or before someone's death?"

Damian nods. "Yes, it's of a similar cadence to 'Batman and Robin'."

"What's with you and your thing with Batman and Robin?" Danny asks with a playful half-smile, Damian shrugs and looks at his books. Danny sticks the eraser back between his incisors. "Phantom and Wraith... that works, though."

The first night out together, Danny fusses over Damian, making sure every bit of uniform was secured and in place -- something Damian took mild offense over. His outfit was far more reinforced than the juvenile get-up that his older brother wore.

But he let him fuss anyways. It made him loved.

"Now remember, Wraith--"

Damian interrupts him: "Yes, I know, Dany. Avoid and distract. Stay situationally aware. I fear that is something I should be telling you, however. Mother would have your head if she ever saw what your training was like."

(It was, not for the first time, that Damian wondered how his,,, "mother",,, would react if she ever met Danyal. Not good, he knows.)

Danny's shoulders sag, and he sighs. "I believe that, what with that super-secret spy--"

"Assassin."

Danny sends him a half-hearted chagrined look, "Assassin," he corrects, "organization that made you. I'm sure I'd give your mother an aneurysm." When he's finally okay with whatever make-believe issues he found with his suit, Danny reaches for the nearby side table and carefully slips on a black domino mask over Damian's eyes. It was thin, flexible, and made with some kind of material that Danny reassured was environmentally safe.

("Some kind of matieral that Wayne Industries invented awhile ago, Sam bought it for me." Danny told him when he first showed it to him.)

It was also cold. But the chill was made up for, slightly, with Danny's warmer hands smoothing it out over his skin, and ridding of any ridges that could form. Damian isn't sure entirely what Danyal did to keep it stuck onto his face, but when he touches it with his fingers he feels a very faint seam at the edge, and it doesn't budge against his hands. It felt like a second skin.

"There we go." Danny smiles, pulling his hands back. He still looks nervous. "It's not the same as my hockey mask," which sat atop his head, ready to be pulled down, "but I think a domino mask will work better for you considering your background."

He was right, a hockey mask would only hurt Damian's peripheral vision. This mask was thin enough that it didn't.

"Ready to go, Wraith?"

"After you, Phantom."

Damian has much issue with Danny's suit. He can think of a million ways to make it better. It is one of the things he and Samantha Manson can get along with, and the few times they have spent time together they have brainstormed suit ideas. He knows that since Danny took him on as Wraith, he has started to look into better suit alternatives.

However. They are both aware of the same thing:

Danny is not Batman, nor Superman, nor Wonder Woman, nor Aquaman, or the Flash, or Green Arrow, or Nightwing, or any single hero on the public roster. He is also not rich like Lex Luthor or Vlad Masters or Bruce Wayne himself.

He has no money and no contacts, and thus, no way of properly improving his suit to be something even half as safe as the other supers.

And he refuses to let Samantha Manson help him find a way to fix that - even with all that money, Samantha Manson is on an allowance from her parents, and also, despite her other range of abilities, not capable of getting those materials without putting herself on a list of some sort. They are at a standstill.

Damian knows this, because he has asked.

Until one day when Danny is talking about a case he is working on and telling Damian about old adventures he had in the Ghost Zone, does he see his brother get hit with a lightbulb.

He slaps a hand against his forehead and straightens up from his swivel seat. He huffs a laugh, "Of course! Why didn't I think of it sooner?" And he turns on his heel and hurries to his bookshelf, pulling down a notebook and flipping open to an empty page.

Damian frowns, "Laeazir?"

"I know you don't like my suit, Damian," Danny says, striding over to his desk and snatching a pencil out of a cup. He begins jotting something down on the notebook. "And there's nothing I can really do about it because, well, I'm poor in comparison to my facesake, and I don't have the resources to get my hands on someone who would make me a new suit."

"Yes, we have talked about this..." Damian nods slowly, still frowning, and trying to follow his brother's line of reasoning.

Danny shoots him a megawatt, half-tilt smile, his hair tied up into a half-bun. "But! I was thinking about it from the wrong angle. I don't have the living resources to help me get a suit, but..." he trails off, staring at Damian intently.

It dinged in Damian's brain to where he was going, "But you have the undead resources instead." He says, his eyes widening slowly. Of course, of course! Danyal was ridiculously charismatic by accident, and Damian has seen plenty of times where his heart-of-gold had one or two non-hostile ghosts be incredibly grateful to him.

His brother makes a loud, 'ding-ding-ding!' sound, pointing his pencil at Damian as his smile stretches further across his face. In a few quick strides, he was sat down next to Damian and showing him his notebook. "Correct! When I first started out as Phantom a few years ago, I managed to help a ghost who called herself Taylor, and apparently she was a seamstress both in and out of life."

Damian watches as Danny writes the name at the top of the paper, and creates bullet-points down the page. "She said that in return for saving her, I should come find her in the Ghost Zone if I ever need clothes made for me. It's a one-time thing, but I was thinking that she could perhaps help make me a new suit."

Danny turns a bit pink at the ears, and rubs his neck, "I never thought much of it because I didn't think I'd ever go into the Ghost Zone, or ever need ghost clothes, so I forgot about it up until now."

A scoff forces itself out of Damian's mouth, but he is smiling. "Danyal, you are the smartest idiot I have ever met."

For the next hour, both he and Danny make a bullet point list of what both of their suits would need. Reinforcement in certain areas, gauntlets with reinforced knuckles to replace Danyal's jawbreakers. A different weapon than a bat.... a utility belt, reinforced boots. Anything they could think of.

It was Damian's idea to add a cloak to both of their suits, asymmetrical and torn at the edges for a more 'ghostly' look. They have a theme, after all. It's quite fun.

Then Danyal calls up Sam for help in drafting up design ideas. And while Danyal steps mostly to the side when it comes to the design itself, Damian and Sam fill pages with designs until coming up with one they both agreed on and like.

"What about a lightning bolt on the chest?" "Why are we using my traumatic accident as a symbol of my identity?" "Ghosts do it all the time, Danny. Ember sings about her death." "I'm not dead?" "No that won't work, Manson. Shazam already has a giant lighting bolt emblem." "Okay, but I still want to use it somewhere." "How about this?" "...That could work. Okay, now onto your emblem--"

Last was the hard part: getting into the Ghost Zone without the Fenton parents noticing the disappearance of their precious Fenton Specter Speeder. They employed Jazz's help with that. She would get the Fentons out of the house long enough for him and Danny to get into the ghost zone, hopefully find the seamstress, and cash in that favor.

They went through with their plan that following weekend. Danny tossed Damian a small jumpsuit as they both climbed into the specter speeder, but did not grab his own. He had a small duffle bag on him that he threw under the seat.

"What is this?" Damian asks, nose scrunching up at the gaudy picture of Jack Fenton's face square at the center of the chest. He held it far away from it, as if it had a disease.

"Your hazmat suit." Danny replies, settling himself into the driver's seat as the door hissed shut and he began turning it on. He had some sort of gas mask on in his lap, too small to fit Danny's head, but certainly the right size to fit Damian's. "Normally you wouldn't need it since you'd stay in the speeder, but we're both getting out once we find Taylor. It's to protect you from the ectoplasm."

A scowl forces itself across Damian's face, "You don't have one." He points out, finding seat in the passenger chair next to Danny. His arms cross over his chest, and he was not pouting.

Danny looks at him amusedly, "I have enough ectoplasm in my body that I don't need one, you however, do not." He retorts, poking a finger into Damian's ribcage pointedly. "If you don't put it on now, you'll put it on when we find Taylor."

Damian's scowl deepens, feeling petulant as he sunk into his chair. Danny turns back to the console and flips a few more switches. "I will not, it looks ridiculous." He turns it around to show Danny the Jack Fenton Face.

The Specter Speeder hums to life, and there's a moment of turbulence as it lifts off the ground. While it does, Danny turns back to him blankly, stares at the emblem, and then reaches forward and yanks it off with a scriiiiich of the emblem. He crumples it up with one hand, and throws it into a small bin at his feet.

"There, fixed." He smiles. Then turns back to the controls, taking the yoke with both hands. "And I'm calling Dad Rights; you will put it on when we find Taylor or you'll stay in the speeder."

Damian sputters, sitting up incredulously. "You are not my father." He argues.

"Teeechnically, I am." Danny says, "I'm a clone of your father, and since I am fully his clone, that makes you my son by a technicality." He says cheerfully, pushing the specter speeder forward and into the swirling green portal.

Before Damian can retort, they're passing through the portal. This was his first time going into the Ghost Zone, and for a few seconds there was nothing but bright, swirling green filling his vision. His body felt like it was being twisted and pulled, his up and down reversing and returning. It was painless, but dizzying.

It only lasts for a few seconds, but it feels like a minute, and when they exit out the other side, Damian is holding his head while his vision spots and swims. Internally, he felt like those cartoon characters when their eyeballs rolled around in their head.

The dizziness fades away slowly, and as Damian regains his sight, he notices Danny's hand splayed over his sternum, gently keeping him pressed against his seat. It fell away when Danny saw that he was alright.

"Put your seatbelt on," Danny orders, nodding to his chair. Damian listens absently, before remembering their conversation before they went through the portal.

"That is not how it works." He scowls, and, annoyingly, only gets a challenged eyebrow raise from Danny. He could see the words written on his face without Danyal ever having to say it.

Because, dangit, he was technically right. Damian refuses to say this aloud. He screws his jaw shut, and crosses his arms back across his chest.

Danny chuckles under his breath, and turns his eyes back to the ghost zone. "My point still stands, either you wear the suit, or you don't leave the speeder."

"Fine."

They eventually find where the seamstress is. Through quite a lot of Danny stopping to ask questions with any friendly ghost he came across, they eventually locate an island with a strange, urban city bustling with life on it. Massive, rocky stalagmites grew from the ground, and buildings were built on top of it or around it, with strange, warping architecture.

It was oddly beautiful.

Danny parked the speeder on the side of the street with a two hour parking sign on a nearby post. As he turned off the engine, he flipped a switch on the console that darkened the windows. He unbuckles his seat, and stood up, stretching out his back with a deep groan.

"Alright, put your suit on. The windows are tinted, so nobody should be able to see into the speeder." He orders, pulling out the duffle he brought in earlier and unzipping it. He pulls out his hockey mask and the hoodie he wore out for patrol, and the notebook they'd been using to jot down ideas for their suit.

Danny even had the hindsight to write in their respective heights, and with Tucker's help, some of their measurements. While he did that, Damian sourly pulled on his hazmat suit, irritated by the need to wear it.

Unfortunately, he also had to wear the boots and gloves for 'extra precaution'. Damian nearly bites out a grumpy 'you're as paranoid as father', but holds his tongue. He wasn't going to tell Danyal that secret.

Once he was done and Danny has his hockey mask and hoodie on, Danny grabs the gas mask and helps fit it over Damian's face. It was a sleek, simple design, shaped similarly to a regular face mask, with little filters on both sides of the mouth and a clear, protective covering around the eyes and forehead. Danyal improved it from the original his parents made.

He was smarter than he gave himself credit for.

Danny checks, then double checks that it the mask is tight, then smiles. Patting Damian's shoulders before standing up fully. "Taylor's shop should be somewhere nearby." He says, grabbing the notebook and tucking it under his arm.

Damian nods, and follows him out the door and onto the busy streets.

Finding Taylor becomes remarkably quick now that they were inside her city - something that Damian silently wondered was based loosely off NYC. Danny kept a firm arm around Damian's shoulders the entire time they walked down the street, keeping the both of them on the inside sidewalk.

Barely anyone passed them a second glance, spare the few odd looks shot at Damian. Danny whispers to him the first time it happens that it's because he has no ghost core, those more attune to their signatures might've been picking up on it.

They didn't notice Danny, because he had one, albeit a weak one.

Taylor's shop has a big sign on it in logographic writing that Damian has no idea how to read. The text shifts slowly, a jambled squiggle of lines, dots, and connected curves that look like a mix of messy cursive, gibberish, and logographic alphabets. He only knows its Taylor's shop because Danny pulls them towards it, stating that it was the place.

"You can read that?" He asks, incredulous as they draw closer to the door. Danny moves his arm off his shoulder, and wraps his fingers around Damian's instead.

"Yep," He replies, then scrunches his nose up, "sort of. It's - uh--" he stumbles over a word that Damian's ears cannot comprehend, but fills his head with slight static regardless. Danny winces. "It's the written form of ghostspeak, but since I'm not a ghost, I can only read some of it. Like uh, dyslexia."

"...I see." Damian says after a moment of silence, trying to replay the word in his head. His mind can't grasp the sound.

When they enter, the door doesn't ding with the sound of a bell, but rather it makes a low scream. Nobody bats an eye to the sound, keeping to their slow search through the racks of clothes.

At the counter was a woman talking quietly to another woman, one of whom Danny recognizes, as he walks over to her.

He doesn't need to say anything, because the woman behind the counter sees him coming, and her face positively lights up with delight. "Phantom!" She cries, and gestures to come over. "I was wondering when in the high ancients you were going to come see me!"

Danny's face is obscured by his mask, but Damian knows he's smiling sheepishly with the way he tilts his head and the way he tenses his shoulders. "My bad, Miss Taylor," he says, reaching the counter and standing beside the woman she was talking to, "It kinda... slipped my mind."

Taylor waves her hand dismissively, "Well you are here now!" She replies, grinning wide. Then her eyes pop open - literally - and she puts a hand over her chest. "Oh, how rude of me!" She turns and gestures between Phantom and the lady next to him, "Miss Mabam, this is Phantom. I told you about him a couple of years ago. He saved me from humans. Phantom, this is Gigi Mabam, she funds my shop. In return I make clothes for her and her staff."

The 'Gigi' woman turns just as Danny does, and smiles wide at him. Damian narrows his eyes at her, shuffling behind Danny legs as he looked her up and down. She had silvery-white hair and purple skin, and wore a darker purple business suit, a red gem cravat at her collar, and teal cat-eye glasses.

There was a lot of purple.

"So this is the ghost-touched you were telling me about, dear!" The woman, Mabam, said. Her voice was rich and low but she spoke in a whimsical cadence. It made Damian's skin crawl, and his narrowed eyes turned into a glare. "I must thank you for saving my seamstress, it would've been quite a fizzy-wink if she had been lost to those ghosty hunters."

What were those nonsense words? Damian hated it.

"Miss Mabam here runs a five-star hotel nearby," Taylor explains, her body turned to Danny, "she also is in charge of the city's Battle Nexus."

Danny is silent for a moment, and his free hand lifts and places itself on the back of Damian's head, keeping him close. "Battle Nexus...?"

Mabam claps cheerfully, laughing low, "Oh yes! Ghosts from all around the zone come to attend and watch as their fellow haunties are ripped from limbity-limb in a blood-curdling battle!"

Danny is still as stone. "I see." He says, careful. Damian wraps his fingers around his pant leg. "Well, I hate to interrupt your conversation, but I was hoping to cash in that favor, Miss Taylor?"

"Of course! What do you need?"

Danny looks down at Damian, and he looks up at him, locking eyes with the ominous green glowing from the eyeslits of his mask. He nods, and Danny looks back up. "Do you know how to make suits? Of the protective kind?"

The seamstress it turns out, is capable of such a thing. And she ushers the both of them into one of the backrooms, sending off Mabam with a farewell and a promise to continue their conversation soon.

She flips through their design book, and immediately gets to work making their suits. In the end, with the help of her powers, she gets both done over the span of four hours. It's longer than both Danny and Damian want, but neither rush her.

Damian just hopes that Jasmine can keep the Fenton parents distracted for that long. She will have to.

The suits are better in real life than on paper, and Damian preens from the side in his own custom suit as Danny examines his own in front of the three mirrors. They were both dressed in all black, but whatever fabric Taylor used was of a blackest-black, turning Danyal - and Damian's - bodies into a black hole to look at. Both of them were fitted for agility, with reinforced padding around their shoulders and chests, as well as around the joints of their legs. Their boots were reinforced as well.

("It was hard to make your boots shock absorbent," Taylor explains, "since we all fly, but I applied similar stuff to what I did with your shoulders and chestplate.")

On the side of Danyal's legs were raised, black, lichtenberg-like figures that were contained to the seams and disappeared under his boots. There were similar designs going up his sleeves, with spiked gauntlets wrapped around his lower arm and hands. The knuckles were reinforced, just like he wanted.

Damian's favorite parts were their capes, however. Black like the rest of the outfit, but "wrapped" around their shoulders like an apocalyptic shawl with a back that went down to their knees, and at the hems the capes were torn and ripped like a wraith. Danyal's mask had gone through very little change. It was made of a stronger material, and Taylor had gone and made it more skull-like in its shape, with three large grills at the front, and the sides curving inward below the 'cheekbones' of the skull to better fit his face. It was still shock white, the only white part of Danyal's entire costume.

Damian's suit was almost identical. However, rather than having the seams of his suit resemble lichtenberg figures, the seams of his sleeves and upper torso were that of a black skeleton, with bone-y designs over his gauntlets and the fingers an ombre of dark red-to-black. And around his torso were raised lines that looked similar to a ribcage. The edge of his cloak was splatter a dark red as well. And he had a new domino mask that looked similar to the upper half of Danyal's mask, with the outer edges curved downward over his cheekbones. He was briefly allowed to take off the upper part of his gas mask to try on the mask.

The best part however, was that since the suits were made of material native to the ghost zone, they could also be taken off quickly and hidden in a small artifact. It was magic, is what it was. Danyal chose earrings, and Damian chose a ring.

When they got back to the Fenton house, Jazz demands a box of chocolate for her hard work. Damian thinks that's only fair as Danny takes them both out to get candy for Jazz.

But other than vigilante stuff, not else much changes. Danny gets to pull a "Dad By Technicality Rule" card over Damian when he's being a brat. Danny doesn't have his run in with Rift (a ghost who portals him into Gotham) until after he meets Damian/lets Damian join him on patrol and when they get new suits.

My reason? Because I want it to happen after that point in time lol. It also makes the eventual "heyyyyy you have a clone" @ bruce much funnier to me because not only does he have a clone of HIMSELF but also THAT clone has a clone of Damian living with him.

Also when Danny destabilizes for the first time Damian is terrified for his safety. The fentons are surprisingly good at cloning, Danny hasn't had any issues up until this point in time, and that's only because he got hit with a new gun from Skulker that messed up the ectoplasm he had in his dna, which in term fucked with his own DNA.

Danny's destabilization, imo, is not "I cast you with Melt" he's not Ellie, he's not made of 50% ectoplasm. His parents surprisingly knew what they were doing, and he was human. So his destabilization should be unique to himself and different. Thus his destabilization is "I cast you with Compromised Immune System" his body slowly weakens over time as his cells destabilize. He becomes unnaturally frail and sick. Damian calls Ellie for help when Danny doesn't get up after being hit in a fight that he normally, and Ellie helps figure out that he's destabilizing. This is whats gonna happen in OG clone au too, but Ellie is going to be there rather than Damian.

It makes going to Wayne Manor after that slightly more interesting,,,

Belos cared a lot for the first few grimwalkers, reminded strongly of his brother. But eventually, as they kept betraying him, his care for them gradually dimmed to nothing

Hunter has worn a cape to school in the human realm and would do it again

Willow's favorite human realm flower is a hyacinth. Despite this sge has a particular fondness towards carnivorous plants as well

Hunter loves to help out, helping Camilla any time he can. Camilla makes sure he gets breaks so he doesn't overwork himself on accident

Lilth made hootie a door to protect in the new school of the boiling isles. Give hootie food and he'll do your homework

Emira and Edric are like the Fred and George of the boiling isles, always pulling pranks on other students. They have figured out the line on what's acceptable now, though.

Boscha and Amity actually become friends again, though it took a lot of time. She is still petty and rude at times, but has definitely softened a bit

Camilla wanted to have another child but didn't have the chance to do so after her husband's death. This explains the bunkbed in Luz's room. She enjoys having Vee and Hunter around in addition to Luz as well, since taking care of people gives her a sense of meaning and comfort

Gus puts on shows with illusions for the younger children of the boiling isles as a hobby

Lilith has dyed her hair multiple colors, trying to find the one she likes best. She really like lavender, though ended up sticking with her iconic red

King, even as a mature adult, does not ever roar to use his power. He still just 'wheh!'s in a much deeper tone. It's kinda hilarious to think about

Eda loves to go on flies with her sister to just catch up on life. She also loves to just go harpy mode randomly and impress people

Hunter and Amity fight over who gets to braid Willow's hair. They ended up making a chart and everything

Hunter in addition to Waffles has multiple other palisman chose him. He makes sure to give them each love evenly. These other palisman include a wolf, a woodpecker, a turtle, etc

Raine and Eda like to go outside when they can't sleep and watch the stars together

Day 3: A deadly accident / Snowboard

In the empty road in Wisconsin Jason pushes the gas full, trying to see how fast this motorcycle can get.

It's feels good, that wind in the hair.

The adrenaline in his body rushes like lightning, and he endorse the high.

He probably shouldn't drive that fast, but it was his gift, and he wants to feel it.

(Need to feel that he's alive.)

Hour and a half past the “Welcome to Illinois” sign, he takes the exit to the gas station. The old shop looks like it has stayed there since the road was built. The bell ring as he enters, but the bored cashier doesn't even look up from her phone. He carefully checks the snack's back for the “best before” date. He put the snacks and and a bottle of soda on the counter.

“How much?”

The cashier slowly looks up from her phone. She sighs and starts scanning the products.

“Anything from the souvenir shop?” She asks, clearly waiting for a no. “take a look, we have a special offer on magnets and stuffed animals.” 

Her voice is dead just like her eyes, as she cites her sentences. 

Uh, the joys of customer service. One of the things he's actually happy he didn't have to live through. 

“53$, not including service.”

Heis eyes glances behind the cashier as he opens his wallet and takes out the notes.

Well, actually. His eyes stops, fixed on a certain object behind the cashier's back. 

Fuck it, he never got the chance before. But this is a mission, so he could probably add id as an expense.

Why the hell not?

He never got the time, before.

“How much for the staffed ghost?”

“19.90$, you want one?”

Fuck it. He'll use the league account for this. “Yes, please.” 

“The stuffies are on sale, 3 in 50$. We also got Illinois stuffie, Bumblebee and some other options in the Fun Section.”

“No, no. Just this one. That would be all.”

“Your new total is 72.90$. cash or credit?”

“Card,” he hand it over. “Say, why you got this? I don't think I ever saw one of these before.”

“Amity,” she says and go back to her phone.

She point at the brochures box and say, “most haunted city in the states”.

“A nice place to leave!” says a big sign, by the entry of what seems like a small town.

King!!! King is back!!! Unfortunately it comes at the cost of him obviously being the Collector's servant basically. At least he still has François.

King also reads a book about the Collector, similar to how the end of S1 he read a book about Belos. It's an easy way to add lore to the show, and it calls back to another time he did so

Not only do we get curly redhead Lilith, but she has a pixie cut now too!!! Her glasses are gone tho :(

All of the Coven Heads (but Terra?) got turned to puppets ;___; as have most other citizens including Hooty, Principal Bump & the other Hexside teachers, and some of the other student body like the grudgby players

Also Eda does not seem to have a prosthetic like most people predicted, which makes me wonder what happened to Alador

I'm not sure how I feel by the idea that almost all adults got captured, it does feel specifically like The Collector (a child like God) did it on purpose, but it still is kinda :/ to know most of my fav supporting cast are puppets now to conveniently write them all out of the episode so as to keep the cast from bloating. Like I get why it was done but I'm still salty about it

The Coven Heads (again except maybe Terra?? Idk why she wasn't there? Did she pledge loyalty well enough to not need to be puppetfied? Did she escape? Die? Lol could you imagine) all have slight whimsical features added to their designs, as with everyone who got puppetfied, but for once they're all moving & working in tandem haha. Raine's close up not only killed me, but gave a good callback to when they got captured by Kikimora then "brainwashed" for weeks afterwards. The parallels of Raine pretending to be an enemy vs now they are but completely against their will. Bah. I'm dying, I'm afraid to see Eda's face in that scene. ;__; I'm really unhappy to have any Raeda fluff or bonding during this special (or suggested to have happened in between KT & FTF) robbed from us, but angst is classic Raeda vibes so I'm not surprised

I did also notice we didn't see any hints of Amity, Gus, or Willow's families at all. All we know is Eda & Lilith seem to have escaped puppetfication. I have a feeling Hooty took the puppetfication blast for Lilith in that moment

I'm stoked about Lilith having red hair again, and I was not expecting her & Eda to both cut their hair short! Everyone's getting hair style changes!

This will definitely be a Collector lore heavy episode, if only for the fact King was reading that book about them. I wonder if there used to be more children of the stars, and where the others went/are if there were

And lastly I'm at the photo cap but Belos is there too. He is using glyphs to burrow into some area, and he's killing the wildlife as he goes. Y'know, classic Belos behavior. I wonder if he's trying to get to where Caleb's mangled remains are, and if so what the plan is from there. I doubt Belos will play a large part in this episode as it seems very heavily focused on The Collector instead, which I'm fine with as I figured the final confrontation with Belos was gonna be the last special, what with him being the main villain of the show.

Despite any hangups I have I'm very excited to see the special! I know Dana & the crew worked hard on it

This is kind of a pilot/proof of concept for something I wanted to mess with. Wanted to see how it goes over with people. I might upload more if any one is actually interested, so let me know.

Fuck the Plot:

Luz walked downstairs, still rubbing the sleep from her eyes. The dark room she was met with was filled with bookshelves, each one had tons of books organized by genre and author. A simple counter stood between her and the dozens of books. She turned on the light and went about her daily tasks.

The place wasn't really hers. Luz merely rented the space upstairs from the owner, who also gave her a job as a cashier/ store runner. Luz owed the owner, Raven, a lot for taking the sixteen year old in, giving her a job, and a place to stay.

Once she finished wiping down the counter, she grabbed a cart full of books to reshelf. To think it was only a month ago that she found herself there. This was possibly the best job she’s had, with great pay.

Luz finished shelving the books and made her way to the front door. She flipped the sign to open and unlocked it before going back to behind the counter. She sighed as a blue see-through panel popped up before her.

Raven’s nest: Prepare the store for open hours

She blinked and thought the screen away. Ever since she woke up, these screens seemed to follow her. It seemed similar to a screen in a video game. Which Luz thought made sense in the world she found herself in. She hadn't noticed what really happened or where she was until she met Raven.

Raven was a demon with gray skin, violet hair, and four eyes. The top pair was a red color and the bottom the same violet as her hair. Luz was confused for a minute, sure that Raven was some cosplayer who’d gone camping for some reason. That thought went away pretty quickly when Raven pointed out the giant skull in the distance. That was when Luz realized she was in a world similar to the game ‘Titan’s Will’.

Titan’s Will was one of Luz’s favorite games. It might have been a long game, over 100 hours of gameplay, but it was well made with in-depth character arcs when the player puts in the time. The plot of the game was a magicless witch learning magic in order to beat the Big Bad. Luz was ecstatic about being in the world until she realized one thing. In order to win the game, the protagonist had to die.

She had no issue with that detail when it was just a game, but when Luz was actually at risk it seemed less great. That wasn't too big a deal when the character gets brought back, but there was another problem. More often than not, when Luz played the game, she died at least twice including the canon death.

In the game, it was pretty simple as the player could just restart the battle, but Luz had no idea if that worked for her in this game. Luz was terrified about dying before she got to the canon one with no way to revive. There was one option to Luz, just avoid the plot of the game. If the protagonist was in this world too, then it didn't matter that Luz didn't play an active role. They could use their plot armor and beat the bad guy and everything else themself.

So Luz, in the world of a game and the abilities of a gamer, spent the month hidden from the plot by working at a small bookstore that isn't even mentioned in the game. To the human, it was the perfect hiding space. She was brought out of her thoughts by the door opening.

“Welcome to Raven’s Nest.” She said only to pause at the sight of the customer. It was a teen girl around Luz’s age, maybe older, with long dyed green hair that went past her shoulders while tied up, the roots grown out enough to reveal the original brown. Her eyes a sharp, piercing gold. Luz’s throat and mouth felt unnaturally dry at that moment. ‘[Observe]!’

A new screen popped up.

[Name: Amity Blight

Species: Witch]

Fuck. it was exactly who she thought it was. Amity Blight, one of the possible love interests, one of Luz’s favorite characters, and most importantly, a plot important character. The hell was she doing in this hole-in-the-wall bookstore?

She blinked the screen away only for a new one to take its place.

Now really wasn't the time for a skill level up. Even if it was nice that it did, Luz couldn't focus on it. She blinked that screen away too and watched Amity move around the store. This wasn't dire, the protagonist doesn't even meet Amity until after twenty minutes of gameplay. Unless you were a speedrunner, of course. But this was a pebble that could cause major ripples in her plan. The plot was sneaking up on her.

Amity placed a stack of books on the counter. She swallowed the lump in her throat and said, “Find everything alright?”

Amity hummed as Luz marked prices down to create a receipt. She said nothing about a witch fictional story hidden among the textbooks. Luz handed Amity the receipt, telling her the total. The teen left after paying and Luz slammed her head against the counter.

The fucking plot. It was catching up on her. Fuck this. Fuck the plot that would kill her if she played a part.

Mirror, Mirror, Stole My Soul!

Hey there! It's been a while since my last post so I wanted to share a few things with you guys. As many of you know I recently moved to Amity Park and have been hard at work getting to know more about the local legends and history of not only the town, but also my new high school. It's called Casper High, which is ironic since we deal with a lot of not-so-friendly ghosts here...

Now I know not everyone believes in ghosts, but even if you don't I hope you learn something interesting today about a couple of myths about mirrors, photographs, and self-portrait paintings.

It's hard to tell when it all started, but in general all three of these share one thing in common, which is the belief that sometimes they can steal your soul or at least a fragment of it. Just like shadows in some cultures, our reflections are believed to be, well, a literal reflection of our souls. That's why vampires and demons in mythology don't have a reflection, it's because they don't have a soul.

Anyways, before I get too off topic since I'd like to talk about how ghosts in photographs and paintings have some cool stories behind them too, let's get back to the subject of mirrors specifically. So one of the ghost stories at my school is about a cursed locker and a mirror that was once inside it. Both belonged to a kid back in the fifties named Sidney Pointexter. Sadly I haven't been able to find out much about him like where he lived, who his parents were, or any of that but from what I've been told the poor guy was bullied by basically the entire school.

From what I can tell Sidney left Amity Park as soon as he graduated and lived out the rest of his life somewhere else. But here's where things get complicated. According to a couple people I interviewed he was in such a hurry to get out of dodge after being humiliated on graduation day in front of the whole school that Sidney left behind everything in his locker, including an antique mirror given to him by a lunch lady he was friends with before she passed away from a heart attack the year before.

He used to look in that mirror every day whether he wanted to or not trying to keep his unruly hair tidy and give himself motivational speeches to cope with the relentless bullying. As for why I said it was sometimes unwillingly, that's because Sidney was constantly shoved into his locker by the jocks and such. Honestly I'm not sure why the school didn't mail it to him but maybe because it was owned by someone who used to work there before she gave it to him maybe they considered it part of Casper High's history? Kind of a jerk move if you ask me since Sidney already had to deal with so much crap from his fellow students.

But, moving on. So the legend goes that any time someone was bullied near that locker...unexplainable things would start happening. Sometimes shoelaces tangled on their own, a disembodied voice could be heard, or the nearby lockers would start shaking as if someone was banging on them from the inside. That's why no one was assigned that locker for a long long time until Danny Fenton came along.

It's a shame I wasn't able to see it myself, but long story short, the mirror I'm talking about that once hung inside that locker ended up breaking because of him. Not that I'm too surprised since he can be a bit of a clutz sometimes, but if he thought it was haunted I don't really blame him. I just hope the poor guy doesn't have to deal with seven years bad luck too. Like I said, mirrors were often suspected of being windows to the spirit world which is part of why they reflect our souls. So in theory, they can also trap souls inside of them too just like photographs and paintings that depict real people.

I think that's what happened to Sidney Poindexter. A part of him never left that locker or maybe when he passed away from old age, the memory of that place haunted him so much that his soul was pulled back there and trapped. If that's the case I really hope he finds peace someday since I've had to deal with a fair share of bullying myself for one reason or another and so has Danny Fenton. Who knows, maybe the ghost of that kid sensed it and showed up which would spook anyone if you think about it. His parents may be ghost hunters but my guess is actually coming face to face with one is an entirely different story...

I haven't seen my first ghost yet but when I do, I'll be sure to share that terrifying tale next time!

Thoughts about the premiere below the cut, so spoilers, obviously

Absolutely love what they did with Camila. I remember the earlier days of the show when people would accuse her of being neglectful/unaccepting of Luz. That definitely got less popular throughout the show but anyways, I love how they explicitly showed that Camila has always been protecting Luz and was pressured into sending her to that camp. And her seeing how much Luz and the gang need each other?? Stopping Luz from leaving her friends just because she thinks that's what'll make Camila happy??? Diving into the water to rescue Hunter without hesitation???? I love her so much. I'm so excited she insisted on going to the Demon Realm to protect and help her children. SHE IS A MOTHER OF SIX DAMNIT

VEE IS SO SMOL AND ADORABLE I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER SHE HAS SUCH A DORKY CRUSH ON MASHA (I think that was their name?? I'm not 100% sure it takes me forever to learn names). ALSO SHE WAS PREPARED TO FACE HER FEARS TO HELP EVERYONE SOLVE THE PUZZLE I LOVE HER SO MUCH. Also I am. Just. So in love with her design. Her hair + ears are so fucking fluffy.

Luz... Luz...... I loved seeing baby Luz!! She's so adorable!! Precious girl. I'm not surprised that no one blamed her for 'helping' Phillip, and I'm glad they didn't do the whole 'will they won't they' thing. No one blamed her at any point. They were just confused for a second. Love that Amity repeated The Line™ from the get-together episode.

H... Hunt... Hunter... hnnnnng...... Firstly Can I Just Say that I love his corrupted design??? Amazing. I cannot wait to see fanart of it. Secondly can we talk about how traumatizing this has to be for him???? Set aside the Flapjack thing (brb sobbing my eyes out again), he was just possessed by his abusive uncle, was violently outed as a grimwalker, now has a matching scar with Belos, and now has longer hair (though he'll probably cut it again). And he was conscious for the possession. At least part of it. So. That's probably. Mm. Really really violating. And really really traumatizing. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more possession in the finale. Really really really hoping we get to see Darius in the next episode and we get a Dadrius moment because Hunter needs an adult who knows everything (or at least more things than Camila does) Belos has done to him and probably knows at least a little about possession magic and how much it can affect the victim. HASN'T THE BOY BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH?????

Don't know what to call this AU but Odalia cheats on Alador

Like we know their relationship is crap

The Twins and Amity are his kids 

The timeline for the deterioration of the relationship is…

Down hill since they married and he was put to work

All love on her side died after Amity was born

He still loved Odalia until she started overworking him. Though he barely loved her at that point.

Last time he fully loved her was when Amity was like 2

So anyways my 12 am brain was like what if she cheated on Alador 

Like the scandal~

That means Amity is a older sister

So the child ends up with a teal hair color and blue eyes. Aka looks a lot like Odalia 

The whole family knows this poor daughter is not Alador's but no one lets it slip

Alador was pissed but Odalia just did her thing to make him drop it.

This happened in the first year of her overworking him

So the twins are around 12? and Amity is around 10? when the baby girl is born.

Now that there is another child in the household Odalia keeps putting the twins in charge of her

So another year passes of that crap and Alador has had enough. His twins are overworked with a different "job" and Amity is clinging as best as she can

Oh the reason Amity is allowed that is because this child looks more like Odalia so she is now the "perfect child"

Well until she a toddler annoys her

Amity is still head to high standards and has green hair. She is just allowed to not work herself to death less

Alador getting his realization earlier because his wife showed she didn't love him means he tries to patch things up earlier

That means Amity feels like she can talk with him

Which leads to her admitting she misses Willow.

Alador tells her to explain to Willow why she was no longer her friend.

(Btw that whole year was Alador trying to repair every relationship including Odalia but all it does is make him want to leave)

After half a year Alador gets fed up and divorces Odalia. He fights for custody and actually gets it.

Including literally not his kid. 

Odalia likes her appearances and divorce is not a good look on her

Her kid is given to Alador because he was winning Amity and the twins and it would look weird if the youngest child (now like 1+) wasn't fought for

So she cared more about looking like a cheater than getting divorced 

Basically most people don't really see people getting divorced as the worst thing However being a cheater will ruin you forever

Which is why she would prefer to just quietly divorce 

Which she doesn't get as someone (Emira) let it slip

The news didn't spread far and isn't common knowledge but just knowing some know is why she didn't put up a huge fight

She is playing the long game as while he got full custody she still has some maternal rights and visitation 

Also Alador's kids wanted their little sibling

(Also I am using terms like daughter and crap but the child when older will use She/They pronouns)

Oh the consequences of everyone's actions 

Belos no longer would have the Abomination Both things

Blight Industries better hire people again

Every week, The Owl House just completely blows my mind. You expect one thing and then it goes the other way.

So the Day of Unity is in fact uniting the realms. I wonder if this is Connecticut?

What are you, Belos!? Also you're an Uncle!?

Eda is such a mom. She's taking Luz to school and also helping out in the Palisman adoption day.

I was really looking forward to seeing what Amity's Palisman would be and was bummed when she wasn't here. I'm guessing mom didn't like her hair color. They're not gonna change it back right? Right!?

Seeing Luz panic about what her future holds is so relatable! We know she wants to go home to her mom, but what else does she want to do? On the Boiling Isles, she's a witch, her dream, in the human realm, she's just plain old Luz. Many, myself included, speculated that Luz would just stay on the Isles and travel back and forth to visit her mom if she has a portal. Now, I'm not sure what Luz will do.

Luz and Golden Guard's (Hunter) dynamic was great this episode! Last we saw them together, they were enemies, now they have this sibling like relationship between them as well as a mutual respect for the other. Every time Luz interacts with a character, she changes their lives. Mostly for the better, but a few for the worse. Hopefully we see Hunter as the former.

So Lilith wasn't the only one in the Emperor's Coven who thought that Hunter was a brat. Although while Lilith may have found him annoying, Kikimora hates him to the point of murder. For being close with Belos, for not being as powerful as he seems? Whatever the case, it was great seeing Kiki return and for her to actually do something villainous for a change. I really want to see her fight at full strength though.

He's just a sensitive nerd like the rest of us. The way this show writes its characters is fantastic. Apparently, whatever happened to Belos, was done so by wild magic. Now we know why he's so strict on the whole one magic rule. On the other hand, Hunter wants to learn more about wild magic in order to help his uncle. Every time he brings it up however, Belos reprimands him! I guess we know how he got that scar now. So when he finds himself getting excited about Wild Magic, he quickly stops and even pushes away relics related to it.

I find myself conflicted at the ending of the episode though. Throughout the episode, the cardinal wanders off, sneaks in Luz's bag, is always on her shoulder, frees her from her ropes and is always with her! I just expected it to bond with her. When Hunter got his staff back and was ready to attack Luz, I thought the cardinal might transform into a staff and we'd see Luz vs GG similar to the Eda vs Lilith fights in season 1. Plus, with it being a bird, it'd fit the whole birds associated with Clawthornes that Dana mentioned.

That being said, I also really love that Luz will make her own Palisman like Eda did! Luz is Eda's apprentice first, so Luz will earn her staff the same as Eda did, she mentioned it in the first season. But now that Luz is uncertain about her future, it'll be a while until she's ready to carve. I can't wait for the mother daughter bonding that those two will do when Luz does carve though. Wonder what it'll be.

Belittled and threatened for failing his mission. We must protect Hunter and his new Palisman! Since Belos has this omnipresence when it comes to his castle, he knows that Hunter has this now right? A question of loyalty will be asked when Hunter is ordered to give it up.

Owltober 23: Random, unimportant headcanons

Behold, the first thing I've ever decided to do for the Owltober :) I conveniently had a doc of random unimportant headcannons already in existance, so I can just take that and tidy it up, and half an hour later we have a post! :D

Willow's dads had her go into the abomination track because they thought that shaping and controlling abominations would be far calmer than the dangerous, thorny plant magic she was using. Maybe they saw young Amity's first abominations and thought "aw, that's cute, those things seem so harmless :)", which later sparked the idea to get Willow to study it too.

When Amity found the Azura movie DVD, she knew she had to watch it no matter what, so she spent many days scouring the library and beaches trying to find human books that could tell her how to use the metal cookies. One day at the market, she found Eda's Human Collectables stall and bought a DVD player, which she believes is the best purchase she's ever made. To this day, she has a far-above average level of knowledge about human movies simply because of all that effort she went to to watch that one human thing.

Ed and Em have most definetly conjured illusions of Amity before, and made it do and say stupid things :) The real Amity did not appreciate it :)

After Gus saved Mattholomule during the Galderstone Incident, Matt decided to let Gus be president of the H.A.S again. Gus decided in return to let Matt be his vice-president. (watch this get proven wrong 5 episodes from now...)

When Gus hears Luz's human nickname for Mattholomule, he immeaditely starts calling him that, which indirectly helps Matt start to feel accepted in their group.

Eda gives Gus some of the human junk she's unable to sell or doesn't think is worth selling. These become some of Gus' most prized posessions (his most prized posession is the Bad Girl Coven shirt that hangs above his bed).

Amity only knows the cage spell from ep12 in the first place because she would use it to create barriers in the doorway to her room when Ed and Em popped up to do some sibling schenanigans..

Luz and Amity, being the artists they are, have definetly drawn little fanarts of each other at least once. Possibilities include:

- Luz casting a glyph

- Luz in grom outfit

- Amity in cape

- Abomination in the shape of Luz / Ice formation in the shape of Amity

- Either one of them dressed up as Azura

Edric and Emira have jokingly asked to be invited to Azura Book Club, multiple times. They've also asked things such as "Where/when's the next book club meeting?!! We've been dying to goooo"

Each one of Luz's friends have one of her Banned From Hexside posters. When Amity became friends with the group, Gus gave her one as part of the induction. While it reminds her of a day a lot of things went wrong for her, it was also the day she met her new friend-and-later-crush, so she keeps it, in the same place as her Grom Queen crown.

King likes to wear Luz's Grom Queen crown on days he's feeling extra rulery

Hooty, being the evesdropper he is, teased Luz the first few days of her relationship with Amity by referring to Amity as the "cotton candy-haired goddess". Example: "LuuuUUuuz the cotton candy-haired goddess is at the dooorrrr!!!" *prize-winning smirk ensues*

Eda watched a lot of movies during her adventures in the human realm. They usually turned out to be fantasy movies though, so she didn't actually gain a lot of knowledge about humans by watching them.

King's letter is absolutely COATED in grime and sticky fish bones and one or two lollypops inside one of Hooty's many stomachs right now...

While Luz and Amity cleaned up the mess resulting from The Library Incident, Luz told her what the diary misunderstanding was. Amity wasn't very talkative that night, but there WERE a lot of fallen books and shelves to tidy, so there was plenty of room for Luz to explain everything.

While goblin-tipping in this same episode, the twins realised that they went too far because of Luz's reaction to their plan. They weren't bothered with Amity's reaction because they expected it, but when someone they didn't previously know and who they'd become friends with had doubted them, that's when they were forced to reconsider.

-then he WIPED THEIR MEMORIES AGAIN!!! FUCK. I can understand him wiping the goverments/student bodies' memories, but why his parents?? they were being accepting!! ARGHHH. season 3 couldve been them all trying to adjust to them knowing!

-I know, on a meta level the showrunners probably wanted to just reset things to the status quo of him having a secret identity. But. We've been doing that for (2) seasons, I'd love if season 3 could be like, his parents adjusting to this and trying way harder to learn more and accept it (and the shenanigans that could come from that) and for fun, if he didn't wipe the students memories, it could be him being popular for a while, then everyone slowly realizing, oh, he's still Danny. Like. he might have ghost powers but hes Just The Same Guy instead of putting him on a pedestal (and seeing them all try and help him hide it from the giw/people who don't know!!)

-fuck they didn't even explain WHY he wiped everyone except sam, tucker and jazz's memories. he just Did It right when his parents were saying they loved/accepted him!! and sam and tucker didnt question it at all!!! HELLO??? very annoyed about this turn of events.

-anyway. onto season 3! I know its shorter than the first two seasons, and is the last season... I might just do it in 2 bursts if I can... :3c depends on the episodes' content and how much I want to say about each!

1️⃣ The One Where Shikaku Invites Trouble

Really. Whatever Inoichi says, this is not Shikaku's fault. Shikaku is a good shinobi. The Hokage clearly instructed them to build goodwill within the Daimyo's court. It's just a bonus that one of the highest ranking nobles approached him and introduced him to his latest conundrum.

That's Shikaku's story and he's sticking to it. Stop laughing Inoichi!

Sarutobi Hiruzen stared at the two of his most promising shinobi. Namikaze Minato stood impassively before him and Nara Shikaku is on a slouch that was seemingly perfected by his clan.

"The second eldest son of the Daimyo was found dead yesterday at one of the Daimyo's residences. The period of mourning will start tomorrow for the family." The Hokage let his two ninjas digest the information. The family's period of mourning will last 5 days and then the public mourning will happen for another 5 days. The last day will include the funeral where the second son will be entombed on the family catacomb.

"That would mean that you would be expected to attend the 5-day mourning period in the capital."

"Yes Shikaku-kun. I want you and Minato-kun to be part of my contingent."

Minato nodded. "Was there a suspicion of foul play?"

"There's always a suspicion of foul play in these cases Minato." Shikaku is the one who answered. "Nobles may not have the same tutelage as us but they're sometimes more creative at making murder to look like a suicide or an accident."

The Hokage did not dispute the Nara heir. The Daimyo sometimes asks the Hokage to look at suspicious deaths in his court. But this time it is not the Daimyo but his heir, Hirohito-sama, who sent a second missive.

He relayed the information to Minato and Shikaku. Judging by their eyes  they got his underlying message. Building amity between the next generation ninjas and nobles is the main reason for asking the two of them instead of one of the older ninjas.

It is never too late to foster bonds that will help their village. Aiding the heir of the Daimyo is a definite way to do it. It may seem crass to capitalize on their grief but Sarutobi Hiruzen is the Hokage of their village and a ninja. As ninjas, they always need to know how to turn the tides in their favor, exploit every opportunity, and aid their village in whatever way necessary

Shikaku went to apprise his father of the situation.

His father only gave him one piece of advice. "Try to figure out who would stand as the General for the heir when he ascends. I know that the current general hailed from a known samurai lineage."

Shikaku hates it whenever his father starts his advice with 'try to' because it actually means he better do it. He could also bet his napping hours that his father knows more than what he said about the samurai general. By his father's grin, whatever Shikaku will find out will be a huge headache for him and entertaining for his father.

Shikaku thought of the likelihood of the Hokage agreeing to just switch him out with Inoichi, since the Yamanaka would definitely get a kick out of the mind games of the court. Or maybe one of the Hyuuga twins or Fugaku since their clans are crazy with politics.

"Oh! That's the scheming face!" Inoichi's gleeful voice greeted him when he arrived at Chouza's. He spent the whole way there designing scenarios and then immediately shutting them down because he knows the Hokage will never go for them.

"Now that's the resigned face. What are you thinking about Shikaku?" It's really good Chouza is there to balance out Inoichi's exuberance.

Shikaku ignored Inoichi and turned to Chouza towards the low table in the living room. "Just a new mission. It's politically inclined and you know how I feel about that."

At their looks, he elaborated. "The second son of the Daimyo died. It was suspicious. The kicker was that the heir is the one who sent the missive."

"Meaning, there is a divide within the court, more pronounced than usual. The Daimyo may be appeasing both sides and ordered his son to intercede on his behalf or the heir is going rogue and acting on his own suspicions." Inoichi immediately supplied.

"What did Shikatsu-oji say?"

Chouza took one look at Shikaku and snorted, "Oji-san gave one of his try to do this or that advice, huh?"

Shikaku didn't even bother to answer. He just plopped his head on the table and proceeded to ignore his two snickering best friends.

The palace at the Capitol is as opulent as Minato imagined. Uniformed guards lined up along the wall that sequesters the palace in the middle of the Fire Capitol.

Rumors that the circular base of the palace is due to a fuuinjutsu-added security by one of the successful Uzushio refugees may not be so baseless. Kushina hounded Minato, before he met with the other contingents, about that rumor.

Twelve years after—what the Shinobi nations refer to as the Collapse of the Whirlpool—Konoha's staunchest regret and there is still no concrete evidence about any Uzumaki other than Kushina. If this trip to the Capitol can give Kushina some resolution about what happened to her nation and meet a fellow then all the more reason for him and Shikaku to create a more permanent rapport with the ruling family. Even if the formal garb is itching on Minato and he can clearly see Shikaku and other members of the contingent to be fidgeting as subtly as they can.

With the Hokage up front and his two guards, greeting the Daimyo and his family, Minato and Shikaku are left to their unspoken side-mission.

"I don't see the heir," Minato observed. All of them familiarized themselves with the whole family of the Daimyo. It is a breach of protocol to not be present at the arrival of the Hokage.

Shikaku muttered a low, "Troublesome." Shikaku catalogued everybody and found out that the current General is indeed a samurai. He is standing at the Daimyo's right, two steps behind the ruler. His stance is impeccable, the alertness is clear, and it is fairly obvious that the General is someone to be reckoned with. Shikaku can undeniably see the usefulness of such person.

Shikaku felt a pointed stare from his left and saw the missing heir clearly motioning for him to follow.

Shikaku signalled Minato and it didn't take him long to trail after the heir. He found Hirohito-dono at the end of the corridor clearly waiting for him.

The smile he got, when the heir spotted him, is pained and obviously forced. Shikaku guessed that only the long-ingrained social etiquette allowed the heir to graciously greet him.

"Nara-sama, I hope your journey was well."

"It was, Hirohito-dono. The Hokage and the whole of Konoha express their condolences."

The smile got even more pained, "Thank you. Please send my acknowledgement to the Hokage and to your village. Konohagakure has always been good to the family and supportive of the current regime."

Oh. Shikaku finally got it. The reason he's so restless about the mission. And the constant thought of, what's so different about this suspicious death?

My acknowledgment. Not my family's acknowledgement.

Good to the family. Not my family. Distancing himself from the current regime.

Oh. This is. Oh, so troublesome.

Although slim, Shikaku knows there may be a slight chance he might be reading too much into the heir's words. But the heir's words and actions point to a planned usurpation.

His Hokage needed to be informed right away. Shikaku and Minato are given a great leeway but it does not take a lot of thinking to know that a takeover by the heir against the Daimyo during this time with, what looked like, help with Konohagakure elite ninja is not on either of their purview.

They were walking for about 5 minutes—the heir was prattling about the structure of the palace and the famous arts that surround the hallways—when Shikaku noticed the circuitous way the heir is taking. At Shikaku's askance, Hirohito just gave a shrug and a wink. The move appeared more natural.

Shikaku is even more baffled by the shrug and wink than the plan of usurpation. Was the pained smile and grimace the sham or was it the easygoing attitude?

The layers and level of deception Shikaku is being privy to makes him think that the heir is quite confident the Hokage will back the play that the royal have for the Daimyo's place.

The Nara heir briefly thought that he was being herded towards the office of the royal. The polished hallways giving into cobbled stone made him think otherwise.

They stopped at the archways that lead towards the palace armory. The heir stepping sideways and urging Shikaku to enter first with a telling grin does not inspire any sort of positive feeling to the jounin. Given the current circumstance though, Shikaku is confident that no permanent harm will happen to him.

Five steps in and Shikaku is ready to just blab to the Daimyo and let the heir get executed.

One second he saw a black-haired person, wearing a funeral garb, tending to a very sharp-looking sword,then in a blink he had the said sword right at his throat.

The woman—because with that face, it is clearly a woman—moved alarmingly fast from being cross-legged on the table in the middle of the armory towards him. It is all that Shikaku can do to snag the woman's shadow to stop her movement. She still managed to poise her sword on his neck.

Everybody is frozen, with Shikaku's hands in the air and the Heir looking thoroughly amused.

"Hirohito-sama, how many times do I have to tell you? The armory is off-limits to visitors and you should not startle me."

The heir stepped forward and gestured her sword down, "He's suitably cowed, my lady."

The said lady gave Shikaku a considering look. She gave a challenging smile. "Desist your shadows, Nara-sama."

Shikaku nudged his chin towards the sword. "At the same time, hime-sama?" At her nod, the shadow receded while Juko lowered her sword.

If Shikaku is only a split second slower to connect their shadow his throat would have had a gash. As it stands, Shikaku's throat would no doubt have an angry red line. Her sword felt so cold it burned even if it barely touched him. That is no ordinary sword and he'll label her a ninja if not for her obvious samurai stance.

The blue of her eyes really lent well in throwing icy glares to the two of them. And while Hirohito looked to be somewhat immune, Shikaku is not lowering his guard.

"Minamoto Juko," the heir presented grandly, "Meet Nara Shikaku-sama, the heir of the Nara clan and Konoha jounin."

"Shikaku-sama, meet Juko-chan. She's my carer, sentinel, and the brains and brawn of the operation."
