i've been so focused on IYHM for the past couple months... now that the pub date is so close, i'm full of giddy anticipation and terrible dread. so thank you everyone for the love and well wishes! it's really getting me through it.

also, i wasn't sure how to announce this so i wanted to mention it while i'm here: Waterstones now has a special sprayed edge edition of IYHM! i got my copy a little while back and it's really gorgeous. if you like paperbacks i think the color is a lovely touch!

and as another reminder, i'll be having an in-person launch event next tuesday with Brick & Mortar Books in Redmond, WA! truthfully i'm torn between my desire to interact with people and my embarrassment at being seen in public, so please feel free to spare yourselves lmao 😭 i wasn't sure i'd do an event at all but i decided to try at least once before deciding if it's for me. so we'll see how it goes!

To address your second point: I wish I knew more about Keir Starmer! I'm in the US so I only know tangentially about him. You would think someone would have vetted the situation a bit more though (although you know Zaslav has been a bit of a sneaky little fucker about everything until he was outed more recently). Sorry I don't have much to say on that point!

To address your third point:

Yeahhhhhh, my hope is that it won't affect OFMD too much because it's a bit more of it's own thing (and not a WB proprety like the Coyote movie). I think they could actually make money selling S1 and S2 as opposed to loss since there's such a demand for it, so personally I don't think it's going to be much of an issue, but I have no real authority or reason to believe that except common sense (which we all know hollywood doesn't always have).

@fuckyeahisawthat had a good take though, it's kind of anything goes unfortunately.

I have faith though... because like a lot of my tumblr colleagues have said, David Jenkins would have probably told us by now if in fact, there was literally no hope. He's been pretty good about putting out hints and letting us know where to focus our efforts, and as of yet he hasn't flat out said "Thanks anyway guys, but its not going to happen.

That in itself gives me hope for s1, s2 and s3.

Waking up on the floor from my drunken stupor at five in the evening is not how I'd expect today to go. But it's what I deserve after the things I said to Lizzie. My love. My fiance. I didn't mean to hurt her. I wanted to let her know what I was feeling, but I was chasing her out of our Richmond home before I knew it.

That was three days ago.

I know by now she's back home. Or at least I hope. She has yet to call or text me, and I don't blame her. But I know she misses me, and I love her. I'm not going to give up.

After giving myself a much-needed shower and putting some of Lizzie's gross anchovy toast into my stomach, I decided to sit on our bed and call her. It's six now, so L.A. time it's..... ten in the morning. She'll probably be gardening, taking care of her little kiddos. She hates it when I call them that, but everyone knows she can be such a mom.

Okay, stop stalling, Robbie.

I unlock my phone and go to our text messages. My heart breaks a little looking at the last several texts I sent her. All left on DELIVERED.

I click on the call button, and to my surprise, I hear her angelic voice.

L: "Hello."

R: "Lizzie! Are you safe?"

L: "Yes, I am."

I can feel tension over the phone. I pause, thinking about how I want this conversation to continue.

R: "Lizzie I-."

L: "Why are you calling me?"

R: "Well, I haven't heard anything from you for three days, Lizzie. I was starting to get worried."

I hear Lizzie let out a heavy breath.

L: "Were you starting to get worried, or are you worried? There's a clear difference and let's not forget that you were the one that said you were having second thoughts and-"

She's right.

R: "Lizzie, I'm sorry. I know I hurt you, but that was not my intention-"

I hear Lizzie, and someone else starts laughing before Lizzie shushes whoever else is with her.

R: "Lizzie, are you laughing at me? Who are you with?"

L: "No, I'm not laughing at you, Robbie. Something funny just happened in front of me. Look, listen, I got to go. We can finish this talk later."

R: "Wait, Liz-"

L: "Alright."

R: "Elizabeth, I love you."

L: "Alright. See you later."

She didn't say it. The line goes dead. Once again, I'm left alone with my thoughts. I drop my phone onto our bed and begin dragging my feet into the kitchen. I grab the nearest bottle of brown bourbon, making a promise to myself to drink until I can't remember.

Y/N POV

I close the door to my apartment and lean my back against it. I let out the one squeal I've been holding in since she left me earlier. I know I shouldn't be freaking out. I mean, yes, it's a date, but it's not like a date date, right? We're just friends.

But she is insanely attractive, dresses so cool, her voice is soothing and cute, plus she makes me so comfortable and omg, I need to pick out an outfit! I sprint into my bedroom and rush head first into the closet.

"Now she said I don't have to wear anything too fancy, but what does that reallllly mean?"

I rip out half of my closet, searching for the perfect item, and after an hour, nothing calls to me. I flop myself onto the pile of clothes on my bed in frustration. Without realizing it, I begin to call my Mom.

M: "Y/N, are you alright?"

Y/N: "Yes, Mom, I'm fine. I just need some help."

M: "Some help? Help with what, darling?"

Y/N: "I'm going out with a friend tonight, and I have no idea what to wear!"

M: "This is what you called me about? Seriously?"

Y/N: "Yes, seriously, Mom. It's important, please!"

M: "Okay, Y/N."

Y/N: "Okay, let's switch to FaceTime."

M: "How do I do that again?"

After painfully walking my Mom through the simple steps of modern technology, she begins to help me. However, over a half hour later, I quickly realized that she has no idea how I dress and what looks good. So I'm sadly back to step one. 

M: "Y/N."

Y/N: "Yes." I responded, frustrated.

M: "If you're going to continue having an attitude, I'll hang up. I raised you better than that."

I walk off screen to mock her and throw my hands up at her.

M: "Y/N?"

I walk back in frame so she can see me.

Y/N: "You're right. I'm sorry." I lie.

M: "That's okay. Now, what about the black piece under your Taylor Swift Cardigan?"

I look for what she is talking about. Oh, this! I pick it up and hold it up to the camera.

M: "What do you think?"

I do like it, but I don't think it's good enough for Liz, but she told me not to wear anything too fancy. So I guess this should be okay? Plus, it's black, and black looks good all the time, right? I'm so tired of looking at my clothes, so this will have to do.

Y/N: "I think it could work. Thank you, Mom!"

M: "Of course, dear. Y/N promise me you'll call soon so we can have an honest talk about your life.

No.

Y/N: I promise

M: Now go get ready!"

Y/N: "Okay. Bye, Mom! Love you!"

M: "Love you too."

After hanging up with my Mom, a rush of panic runs over me as I realize how many texts I've missed from Liz.

I practically throw my phone across the room after reading that last text! Good girl! Good girl, she said! She has to know what she's doing! Right? Fuck, this actually might be a date date! How me? Why me? Oh shit, I need to start getting ready NOW!

After giving myself the most needed shower in history, I sat on the floor debating on what shoes I wanted to pair with my black bishop sleeve dress. I think heels would work, but I hate wearing them, so I'm going to hedge my bet and wear my black vans to match. Liz did say it wasn't too fancy of a place!

I slip on the dress and walk into my bathroom to look myself over once more. Even before Naomi ruined me, I don't think I ever looked at myself more than I have tonight. It was not exactly easy when all you've been told is how unattractive you are and how lucky you should be that even be graced in the presence of someone who was supposed to love you no matter what.

I reach my hand out and touch the mirror of my hand. Yep this person looking back at me is me. Tonight I don't look at myself with hate and disgust. This is a moment I hope to save. I look down at my counter space and search through all my bathroom drawers and cabinets until I spot my make-up bag.

"Let's do this, huh?"

"I should've just had someone pick her up. What was I thinking?" I look at my phone - 7:04. Where the hell is she? I run my hand through my hair. "Y/N would've told me if she was backing out. She's probably rushing to get here. I trust her." I put my head into my hands. My mind is spiraling into a panic, and the constant thoughts of the last three days don't help. But seeing and meeting Y/N has been a bright light. Literally, since I saw her that first day, I can't help but think of her being all cute while reading my order back to me. I feel drawn to her, and I can't explain it.

"Liz?" 

I look up, and it's her. She's here!

"Y/N!" I walk up to her and hug her. I feel like I caught her off guard because the hug she gives me back isn't a full one. "You ready?"

"Yeah, sorry I'm a little late. I got turned around at one point, and........" I hear her, and I'm trying to process what she is saying, but it's slowly becoming gibberish as my eyes start wondering. Y/N is doing things to me right now. Who knew just a black dress and vans could look so good on someone. My eyes work back to her face and her cherry-red-covered lips. She's beautiful.

"Liz?" Y/N breaks my thoughts. "We going inside?" I nod, grab her hand, and head in. I make a beeline to the hostess. The hostess looks us up and down with a stank face. Bitch.

"Name?"

Now for my favorite part. "MK," I say in my most bitchy voice. I watch from the corner of my eye Y/N look at me, confused, before looking back to the hostess, flustered and embarrassed.

"Oh my goodness, I am so sorry, Mar-MK. I didn't recognize you with your sunglasses on and your new friend. Please give me one moment." I watch her squirm and phone someone. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this.

The hostess ends the call as a waiter dressed in all-white tux approaches.

"Walter will be taking care of the two of you tonight. Once again, MK, I apologize for my ignorance tonight. I hope you and your friend can forgive me." The pleads fall on deaf ears as I pull Y/N to follow Walter to our private table.

I look back at Y/N, who has a face painted with amazement. Everyone in this place screams money, and I feel a little regret bringing Y/N to such a place on the first date. Once we reach our table, I pull a chair out for Y/N. She thanks me as I take a seat opposite her. Before Walter can even ask, I answer. "Red." Walter nods his head and disappears.

"Okay, what the fuck was all of that!" I don't think I've ever heard anyone this giddy before. I smile and explain that I used my sister's name to get us a table here and that fucking with the snobby people is all good fun. Y/N laughs, and it warms my heart to see that after seeing how she was at the park. Walter returns with two glasses and a handpicked bottle of Red.

"For you and your friend."

"Thank you, Walter." I address the man but stare at Y/N as she ogles everything around her. She's so cute.

"I shall be back momentarily." Walter leaves us, allowing my date with Y/N to begin properly.

I grab my glass as Y/N follows suit. "To tonight and everything that comes with it." Y/N and I share a smile as we each take a sip.

Comfortable silence begins to build. I don't mind because it gives me time to get lost thinking about the woman in front of me.

"So, do you just wear those sunglasses all the time, or are you hiding something?" I smirk at her question. "And what if I am hiding something?" She leans in. "Then I'd like for you to share it with me." Okay, Liz, moment of truth. I feel my nerves working their way up my body. Y/N would've known by now. I don't want to brag, but I'm Elizabeth Olsen!

I remove my sunglasses and set them on the table. I look Y/N straight in her eyes. I watch them go from eager to wide. Oh no. This was a mistake. "Wow." Is all Y/N can manage to spurt out of her mouth. I panic. "I know, Y/N! I feel like I should've to-"

"Your eyes." I stop in my tracks. "What Y/N?"

"Your eyes are so beautiful." Is this happening? "I mean, now I can clearly see you. You are so beautiful, Liz, but your eyes are like hiding their own little emerald forest inside them. Wow." I feel the butterflies inside of me multiply.

"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry- I shouldn't-" Y/N's eyes divert to the wine glass and then back to me. "What did Walter put in this?" Y/N asks, taking another sip, causing me to hunch over laughing. "Walter sure knows how to pick them, huh?" I respond, watching Y/N giggle to herself. Okay. So she really has no idea who I am.

"So the whole point of this dinner was to get to know each other. So let's start." I don't want to waste any more time. I want to know Y/N.

"Okay, I'll try not to struggle, but no promises, Liz." Y/N gives a half-hearted smile. She seems to get nervous when attention is shown her way. Or maybe it's just me? "Y/N, I just want you to know tonight is supposed to be fun, so there is no pressure here. Tell me if we get onto a topic you don't feel comfortable with. Okay?" I assure her. Y/N shines me a smile that could light up the world till the end of time. "Thank you, Liz."

"Of course. Let's each take a big sip of this wine, and then I'll ask a question." Without another word, a chug of wine goes down my throat. Y/N once again follows suit.

Someone actually warned me like "people are going to want to romance the side characters!!" At first I tried to make them more plain, but... it's my art style, I can't help it... LOL. I just leaned into it in the end.

"I wonder though, how delusional MC can be/needs to be to successfully romance him, because he's so obviously trying to manipulate MC to make them doubt everything they know (which isn't much at this point, to be fair) and trust no one but him. I wonder if it's possible to call him out on his bullshit while still romancing him?"

You can romance Vincenzo in a multitude of ways, I'll make sure of this. You can play straight and get a yandere romance experience, or, as you've mentioned, develop a more defiant stance against him. (Just don't get too defiant, or else he'll catch on to what you're doing. In many legends, it is important to trick the monster with your wits, wink wink.)

These characters are very dynamic, and what you say to them matters. Seriously, my game's "brain" (aka code that remembers stuff you've done and said) has gotten pretty complex, esp this early on! And you'll find that they'll remember very specific stuff you've told them.

CC I'M SO EXCITED, I FINALLY GOT ENOUGH CONFIDENCE TO COMMISSION THINGS FROM PEOPLE (it's like three different people AJDJWJF)

but the prices are good, two of the people needed it for emergency money so it was a good push to bite the bullet and message them. I'm so happy, I'm gonna have art of me and Mammon (and one is gonna be a sketch page of me, mammon, and a friend who also likes obey me). Also i lost my drawing streak, but I just drew a bunch of random poses today for fun, so it makes up lmaoo.

anyway I am here to ramble about the job my mc/I would have in the Devildom! definitely got roped into working at the bunny cafe for one (1) shift with Mammon (the daily chat is what gave me this idea).

Not sure how the cafe works, but in the anime, Beel is working the bar lolol. So I always imagined it as a bar with some food, and you could request certain servers by paying extra, and obviously give them carrots or tips. Like a mix between a maid cafe and a club I suppose is what I'm thinking?? (...Hooters? I've never been)

anyway I totally got coerced bullied into working a shift (I am always caving when it comes to Mammon </3). And my anxiety is terrible, I CANNOT talk to people (it's a wonder how I'm a manager), so I'd definitely stick to bussing tables and helping run super big orders with one of the guys. Maybe even have Beel teach me to make some drinks, because that seems really fun. Basically completely avoiding any kind of one on one service.

And I think there's been chats or devilgrams about mc gaining popularity and having a fan club, so imagine all these patrons requesting me, and the owner has to be like "unfortunately - no." And then someone is like, "I'll pay an extra $100 just to have her" and that's when the owner decides to ask if I'd be willing. Because it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

And I'm like, "Ha! I'd do it for $250", and like, I say it as a joke, but imagine Mammon overhears everything. He'd drag me to the table and say my price, and to everyone's surprise, the demon agrees to pay. Now everyone is like 👁️👁️ interesting.

and now I'm suddenly serving a random demon, and I'm nervous as hell (HA), and I'd honestly spill their drink or something on them. The bill comes, come to find they tipped way over 20%, and wrote a note about hoping to have me again. Now I've singlehandedly paid back a big chunk of Mammon's debt.

now THAT would change my mind real quick. I would do anything for money, I'm so easily convinced 💀 like imagine how much cash I could make in one shift. Anxiety who ??

It ends up becoming a part time gig, and I become the owner's favorite. I learn the bar for fun, and can be requested as a server for a big fee. I'd like to imagine Mammon works extra hard to earn the owner's favor and begs to work the same shifts as me (little does he know I request to work with him bc he makes me feel safe, especially if people get way too drunk)

I've literally brainstormed about this so much, and I've still got more ideas rattling in my brain, SORRY IT GOT SO LONG AAA

I'm always going to recommend writing your ideas down! It doesn't have to be story-style, sometimes just getting them out of your head in some form really makes a big difference! Especially if it's something you've never told anyone or written down before. Forcing yourself to articulate ideas in a way that would make sense to someone else (even if no one else ever sees it) really helps to make ideas more solid. Then you can expound on them even more! It's a never ending cycle for me lol.

Anyway, I love all of this, I think it's fantastic.

For my part, I'd absolutely be bunny-ing it up at the bar with Beel. I like the idea of him making Devildom drinks and MC making human world ones. The demons that are willing to pay top dollar for MC to wait on them are also willing to pay top dollar for MC's authentic human world drinks! Now you're really rolling in the Grimm!

I was walking down the hall, bored as hell. I had nothing better to do than to walk and daydream about the life I'd always wanted. Unfortunately for me, life rarely cooperates in such a manner.

As I was walking I bumped into someone, which caused me to fall on my ass. I looked up only to see a figure, wearing a letterman jacket with the school's initials. 'Oh great, it was one of the jocks!' I thought mentally.

I was about to pick my books up when another hand touched my books and began picking them up. It was still the jock.

"Ugh, what do you want, meathead?" I asked as I looked at him. He began smiling at me, showing his dimples.

"Oh, I'm just trying to help! Sorry for bumping into you." The jock said. His voice was so hypnotizing from how soft and velvety it sounded.

I shook my head. He is probably trying to make fun of me for not paying attention.

"Yeah, well thank you Mr.whateveryournameis, and goodbye!" I said as I left him there standing. He was honestly very cute, but I knew that there is no way that a boy, more or less a jock, would like me, since everyone here is straighter than a line and smooth-brained from how closed-minded they are.

As I walked back into the classroom, my mind was once again consumed with thoughts of the jock. Even though I told myself that I was going to ignore him, he seemed to have caught my gaze. With his stupid smirk that had dimples, his messy hair...those beautiful (e/c) eyes...Oh no, I think I'm in love with him!

After class, I started walking straight back home. I'll call in sick for choir lessons, and I'll just go back home and cry into my pillow about how much of an idiot I am! Like, why would I fall in love with a jock out of everyone! I was just destined to have my heart broken.

I always wanted to have an angsty love story, but this seems like way too much! There is no way that the Jock will ever fall in love with me! I'm just some random guy that he bumped into in the halls.

After I got back home, I got greeted by my mother. I sighed in sadness as I hugged her and walked back to my room, ready to cry my heart out.

As I got into my room, I threw my backpack in the corner, and flopped on my bed, as I began crying.

As I was crying, I got a notification on my computer. I walked to the computer and noticed that I got a message on Facebook. (a/n: keep in mind this happens in 2009)

"Hey there, Noel, right? It's me, the guy you bumped into today at school. You can call me (Y/N)! I found out that you were in the choir so I went there after classes ended to ask you a question, but I didn't find you. The Ukrainian boy gave me your Facebook so that we can talk. My eyes widened, and my cheeks became redder than apples. He was also attracted to me? I can't believe it!

dang it's been a while since I went to school but here in Germany we have this three-tiered school system where with the "lowest" and shortest type you can only get mostly do manual labor or "unskilled" (which is a bs concept anyway) jobs and only with the "highest" and longest type can you study at a university afterwards. Oh and you can sorted when you're like 10 years old?? it sucks

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: FAMILY

Before you reached for the luscious fruit Day had so thoughtfully brought, you took his hands in yours and laid them carefully across your belly as you stood in front of him. You gave him a mischievous smile and he tilted his head in curiosity.

"Would you like to see her?" you asked excitedly. He raised his eyebrows and you watched as his bottom lip trembled as he once again tried to keep from crying.

"See her?!" he replied in disbelief.

"Yes! The midwife will be stopping by the palace so we can view a sonogram of her. I wanted us to see her for the first time together," you replied, stroking the side of his face tenderly. He smiled, the dimples of his cheeks forming into neat little wrinkles.

"When will she be here?" he asked excitedly.

"Early tomorrow morning to avoid suspicion. It would have been easier to go to the medical center but I didn't want to risk someone seeing you. It's safer this way for all of us," you explained. He swept you off your feet and carried you over to the large bed with your arms around his neck. Taking care to not jostle you too much, he laid you carefully on the mattress. He lifted your skirts, revealing sheer undergarments nestled just below your swollen womb. He tenderly reached under the top half of the gown and caressed your chest in a gentle massage. It wasn't an attempt to arouse you, but merely an act of tentative affection.

"You carry her so well. I have never seen you look more beautiful than you do now," he said laying down next to you. Pulling you to his chest, he was careful not to put any pressure on your child. He kissed your forehead tenderly and yawned.

"That's very kind, I am honored to carry her for you…," you told him lovingly. Taking a closer look at his eyes you noticed that dark circles had taken shape underneath them. Touching his cheek tenderly, you gazed up at him with concern in your eyes.

"You've spent countless hours at council meetings this week, trying to find a solution to the blockade of my home planet. I won't even ask how many hours of sleep you've gotten, for I know they are few. I beg you to take a couple of days away from all of this and try to relax, for your own health," you said kindly. He gave you a weak smile and took one of your hands in his.

"How can I halt this investigation? I'm doing this to protect you…to protect our family," he replied, his voice slightly trembling. You gave him a gentle smile.

"I know…and words cannot express how much I appreciate your efforts to do so. But you will be no use as our emperor if you burn yourself out," you explained to him. He laughed quietly and kissed your forehead.

"Perhaps you're right," he said,"very well, I'll take a small hiatus from all of this."

"Thank you," you said. You giggled at the sight of his unkempt hair and ruffled it playfully. He laughed mischievously and sat up, placing you on his lap. He glanced down at your very clearly swollen ankles and gasped at the sight.

"My poor Rayla….why didn't you tell me? It looks painful," he said with concern in his voice. Touching your cheek tenderly, he gave you a weak smile.

"I didn't want to worry you. There's enough already on your plate…I couldn't cause you more grief," you replied, "besides, it's quite normal during a pregnancy…however uncomfortable it may look."

"And are you?" he asked, combing his hands through your locks of hair.

"Am I what, Cleon?"

"Uncomfortable…," he said, meeting your eyes with his own.

"I'm quite alright, my love,....really it's nothing," you replied. He removed you from his lap and placed you back on the bed, preparing to examine your legs. He touched your foot and lifted it gently. You winced in pain as the tenderness of your ankle shot up your leg.

"It troubles you that much? You would allow yourself to suffer for the sake of my own well-being?" he asked almost coldly.

"It's manageable…I've had worse…you would know more than anyone…" you replied, and gave him a small smile, hoping it would ease his mind.

"Indeed I do. But I will not have my own wife endure such discomfort in my absence. It is clear that I must also care for you while I'm away from the council," he said to you.

"Nonsense, I'm fine…I promise…," you said in protest.

"But you're not, my dearest. Let me take care of you…please," he asked, "there is no shame in asking for help."

"Alright…," you said and allowed him access to your feet. He gently massaged the sole of one of your feet and slowly worked his fingers along the outside towards your ankle. Repeating the same motion, he continued, taking care to avoid the especially tender areas. It hurt at first but as the swelling decreased, his hands felt so soothing and you could finally enjoy the sensation. Closing your eyes, you exhaled in relief at his touch. Day chuckled softly, but loud enough for you to hear.

"There…that's better isn't it?" he asked, and lovingly planted small kisses along your leg where the swelling had previously been. The ridges of his lips tickled your skin and you laughed as he continued up your thigh. He laughed along with you and pulled you up to chest. You placed your hands on both sides of his face and kissed his nose.

"Much better…thank you…," you responded happily. He cupped your jaw in his palm and moved in for a more passionate kiss, a slight hunger in his eyes. You responded in kind and moved in, teasing his lips with your tongue. He opened his mouth, letting you in and hurriedly undid the lace ribbon on the back of your gown. You sighed in approval and removed his tunic with little effort, revealing a toned and heaving torso. As you reached for the buckle on his trousers, he stopped you. Looking up at him, you confusingly removed your hand.

"No…I want to watch you this time…"he whispered into your ear. He positioned himself next to you and trailed his fingers up your thigh until they reached the slickness between your legs. You cried out in surprise as his hands immediately found your favorite spot. Supporting yourself on your elbows, you looked up at him while he pleasured you. Twirling his thumb in a circular motion, he drove you mad with passion and you started bucking your hips to increase the friction. You ached for release as your bud became more tender and sensitive. Before you could speak, Day slipped in two fingers and began thrusting them in and out while simultaneously kissing your neck. He kept his thumb over the tip of your clit and rubbed it rapidly. Soon the pressure began to build, and as it did, you heard a loud knock at the bedroom door. Day grunted with frustration but kept his arm in place and gazed down at you lustfully with a playful smile. He ignored the knocking and sped up his motion, forcing your head to snap back.

"Day…we'll get caught," you said, worried that your visitor would walk in. The emperor continued to ignore the knocking even though it became more urgent in nature.

"Not until you've finished…I want you to come for me…,"he replied.

"Empire?..." Someone asked loudly from the other side of the door.

He removed his fingers from within you and used his entire hand to satisfy your plea. Again and again he circled the damp folds until you felt the friction begin to start a small fire of pleasure in your belly. Soon you felt his lips take hold of your breast and he fondled the nipple with his tongue. The knocking continued as the man on the other side grew impatient. The walls within your core began to pulsate and you came, soaking his fingers with the fluid of your arousal. You tried to keep yourself from sighing too loudly, but his relentless fingers caused you to climax a second time. Day released your breast from his mouth and laughed.

"Beautifully done…," he said into your ear as you panted, sweat beading on your forehead. He slid his hand from between your thighs and brought a glistening finger into his mouth, seductively lapping up the fruits of his labor.

"And how do I taste, Empire?," you asked.

"Sweet…like warm honey," he teased. Before getting up to answer the door, he kissed you gently. You re-fastened the ties of your gown and made your way to the balcony to give Day and his visitor some privacy.

"This had better be an urgent matter for you to disturb me at this hour," you heard Day say to the gentleman.

"Many apologies, Empire…this could not wait…you informed me earlier to inform you immediately after the legalities were made," said the man.

"It is done then??," He asked cheerfully.

"Indeed it is Empire, we just need her signature to finalize everything," he said. You heard Day walk over to the balcony and move the curtains aside.

"Rayla, my love, would you mind joining me for a moment?" he asked, reaching for your hand. He led you over to the table the guest was standing at and you quickly realized it was councilman Wheeler. He bowed in reverence and smiled at you.

"My lady….please forgive my intrusion this evening," he said.

"No apology needed, it is a joy to see you councilman," you replied.

"There is a legal matter for which I need your assistance," he said, "but I'm afraid it will have to wait until morning, others need to be present."

"A legal matter?" you asked, confused.

"We look forward to it, councilman. Thank you," said Day and showed him to the door..

"As do I. We'll meet in the throne room as discussed," he replied,"Good evening Empire,...my lady."

After he left you turned to Day, a puzzled look on your face. You crossed your arms and walked over to him.

"What was all of that about?" you asked him.

"I haven't the slightest idea," said Day mockingly.

"You're behind this, I know it," you said, shoving him playfully.

"Maybe I am…you'll have to wait until morning to find out for sure," he replied, winking at you,"but now, I think we should both get some sleep."

He lifted you gently and carried you over to the bed, placing you carefully on the mattress. He dimmed the lights with the wave of his hand, the signal from his aura deactivating the numerous lamps in the room. Laying next to you, he pulled you close to his side, his chest facing you. You traced the outline of his abdominal muscles with your hand and admired him. The moonlight spilled in through the balcony, casting a beautiful glow on his face. You remembered the first time you saw him, cold and selfish, and now, he was a completely different man, and all yours to have.

"I love you, Cleon," you said softly. He slowly kissed your lips, the corner of his mouth curved into a smile.

"I love you too… more than you could ever know…," he replied. Stroking your stomach, he eventually drifted off to sleep, and you followed suit.

You awoke to the sun shining on your face, with Day still soundly asleep at your side. Careful not to wake him, you slid out of the other side of the bed. Stretching, you then rested your hands on your belly and made your way over to the balcony. The morning air was crisp and refreshing. Closing your eyes, you took in a deep breath and exhaled. Most of the garden attendants were already busy at work tending to the plants and landscaping below. Remembering the midwife said she would arrive around 7AM, you looked for her form in the paths on the palace grounds. Once you caught sight of her, you waved excitedly and motioned for her to head towards the imperial entrance. You quietly snuck past Day, now stirring in his sleep, nearly awake.

Carefully wrapping yourself in a secondary gown and the blue cloak Day's brothers had given you, you made your way into the hall to greet her. She bowed as she approached and reached out for an embrace, which you gladly accepted.

"Thank you so much for making a special trip up to the palace, it means so much to both of us," you told her as you led her back to the imperial chamber.

"It is an honor and a privilege, my lady," she said in response. When you walked into the room, Day was enjoying an apple while examining the council's report from the previous day. He glanced up and smiled excitedly.

"So this is the midwife I've been hearing so much about," said the emperor, shaking her hand,"it is a pleasure to meet you Dr. Capler."

"The pleasure is all mine, Empire. Is there a secure place where we can perform the procedure?" she asked. He motioned for the two of you to follow. At the far end of the room, he scanned his aura and a small compartment door slid open to reveal a hidden staircase, much like the passage in your old doctor's quarters. He led the way down the stairs and stopped at an open doorway with a security panel. He scanned his aura once again and the black door lifted open. The room was void of windows but was well-furnished with beds, linens, and several sealed crates.

"This is the imperial bunker used only for the protection and survival of any Cleon should Trantor find itself involved in war. No one will bother us here," he explained and secured the door behind you.

"Very well, let me get the equipment ready and we will begin shortly," she said, unpacking her bag. Day sat down on one of the large sofas, and you joined him. Once the midwife had everything ready, she made her way over to the both of you.

"You may go ahead and expose your belly, my lady and make yourself comfortable," she instructed. You opened your gown, revealing the small bump and laid across Day's lap, resting your head on a pillow. She took some of the lubrication gel and gently massaged some onto your stomach so she could effectively use the ultrasound device. As soon as she put the wand to your skin, a blue 4D projected image of the sonogram appeared and began to float in the air in front of you both. She carefully scanned your womb and smiled when the tiny feet and arms of your daughter came into view.

"There she is…," said Dr. Capler. You heard Day gasp as he stared up at the little one he had made. His eyes glistened and tears began to fall down his cheeks. He laughed with joy and reached up into the image, the dancing particles much like the images of your planet Day had shown you before. The infant moved slightly, and it was immediately reflected in the projection as her head nodded. The particles danced around his fingers and for a moment, it looked like the young child had taken hold of his hand. Watching your husband's face, you were overcome with emotion and began to cry. He glanced down at you and grinned through his tears.

"She's beautiful……," he managed to say. Touching your cheek he looked into your eyes, completely silent. He did not need to speak, neither of you, for all that needed to be said was communicated in the joy of the moment.

"Indeed, and very healthy. She's right where she should be growth wise. A true medical marvel," said the midwife. The emperor reached up again and touched the tiny head in the projection, still crying in amazement.

"That's your daughter, Cleon…, your own flesh and blood," you said to him proudly. He chuckled to himself and held your head close to his chest.

"Our daughter…," he whispered into your ear.

"I will ensure you receive a recording of this scan to view whenever you wish," she said to the both of you.

"That would be wonderful, thank you," said Cleon. After the scan was complete, the three of you quietly snuck back into the imperial chamber and bid the doctor farewell. Day embraced you warmly and rested his cheek on top of your head.

"Thank you…you have no idea how much that meant to me…," he said quietly.

"I wouldn't deny you the chance to get to know your daughter a little bit more," you replied.

"I feel like I already do… you forget I'm quite familiar with her mother," he teased, winking at you.

"Indeed you are," you said in response.

"Come, I almost forgot we have an appointment with councilman Wheeler," he said. Holding Day's hand, you followed him to the throne room. The councilman was waiting at the foot of the stairs near the three imperial thrones.

"Ah, good morning," he said and bowed before the both of you.

"Good morning, councilman Wheeler. My husband was kind enough to remind me of a certain legal matter that I can help settle," you said to him.

"Yes, my lady. You see, after several weeks of attempting to find the family of your deaf friend, I regret to inform you that no one has stepped forward as a living relative," he explained.

"Mal?" you asked, already knowing the answer.

"Yes, my lady," he replied.

"That's a shame, I had hoped we would find him a suitable home with someone he knows," you said.

"As did Empire and the council. After reviewing the boy's condition and situation, we feel it's best to leave him in the care of someone he trusts. Someone who understands and can communicate with sign language," he explained to you.

"I would wish no less for him," you replied. The councilman looked up at Day, and the emperor nodded.

"Since he is without a mother or father, we, the council, and Empire have decided that the boy be placed with a new family to care for him until he comes of age," he said to you.

"You've found a place for him?!" you asked excitedly.

"We have, my lady. The boy will be paired with a new guardian," he replied.

"Who are they?! Can I meet them?!" you asked him.

"We thought collectively that in the best interest of the boy's well-being, that he be placed with you," he said in response. Realizing what was happening, you turned to Day, tears gathering in your eyes.

"These are adoption documents aren't they?" you asked, beginning to cry. Day nodded, a large smile forming on his face.

"I know this is overwhelming, but it was very clear to all of us that there is no one better for him than you," said Day, tears now rolling down his cheeks.

"You arranged all of this?" You asked Day in disbelief.

"Dusk was involved to some extent but it was a group effort," he replied, laughing joyfully," now the boy will be permitted to live in the palace, despite imperial law."

"It would be an honor," you replied. Taking the pen you applied your signature to the document and handed it to the councilman.

"Congratulations, my lady. I speak for the entirety of the council when I say we are most happy for you and your new guardianship! I will ensure that these get archived in the imperial records" he said. After he left, you turned to Day and wrapped your arms around his neck, embracing him.

"...thank you…" you said softly to him, still crying," does Mal know?"

"Of course he does…we told him earlier this week," said Day. He went over to the com on the wall and held the button down.

"Bring the boy," said Day.

"On our way," yelled Dawn from the hallway. Moments later, the door slid open and Mal sprinted over to you and jumped in your arms. He lifted both hands, and pinched his pointer fingers to their adjacent thumbs, spreading the rest of his fingers. Moving his hands in a horizontal circle, he asked 'are we a family?'. You happily moved your fist in a rocking motion for 'yes'.

You glanced to the main door of the throne room just in time to see Demerzel turn angrily and slam the door behind her. Something deep within you told you something wasn't quite right. You pushed those thoughts aside, but became ever more suspicious of the Emperor's advisor in the coming weeks.

So this is actually from my 2023 NaNoWriMo project; our protag Hadley has accidentally summoned a demon and decides to introduce it to her best friend, Beth.

Hadley rubbed the back of her neck anxiously. “No, but it’s…” She wracked her brain for something to say but there was no way to explain it without sounding like a crazy person. “Just, don’t say I didn’t warn you.” 

“Alright then. You can show her.”

“Show me– achk!” The choked off shriek that came from Beth was about what Hadley expected, although she was grateful that the girl hadn’t screamed outright.

She turned back to her roommate and held up both hands in a placating gesture. “Okay, okay, so I can sort of explain but the most important thing is that it’s not going to hurt us.” 

“Probably not.” Avorsael said. 

“Oh how is that helpful?” she demanded, watching the panic and mixed emotions play out across Beth’s face. 

“Who said I was trying to be helpful?”  

💕 What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?

Omg this one is basically impossible. I think my favorite would have to be 'Gentle Repose', since that one started out as a very short scene idea and turned out into a really sweet, fully formed fic. But it's hard to pick one favorite, even the cringey ones I posted at 12 y/o have a special place in my heart.

🦋 Which character is your favorite to write?

Really Bailey? I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count. 😂

Of course it's Ahsoka Tano.  I've always said that I basically grew up alongside the character, but looking back at my writing, I can see that the version of her in my fics "grew up" too. I'm able to convey a lot more nuance and depth of detail (I think) that was really challenging as a young writer. 

📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?

Gods, there are so many amazing writers out there and I am continually blown away by the talent and passion, people writing entire novels simply because they love it.

🔮 Any advice for writers working through burnout or writer’s block?

Write badly. Be self indulgent, be cliche, dig out your OCs from middle school that were really just thinly veiled self-inserts. Write absolute utter nonsense and then rewrite. Writing is just dragging the ideas out of your head kicking and screaming, rewriting is where the real magic happens to turn them into a story.

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

Well if someone made fanart of any of the fics I've written for my D&D character, Maggie Marigold, I'd probably lose my mind and frame the damn thing.

I would love to see anything from 'The Forging' or specifically the scene of Ahsoka and Barriss sharing a cot in 'That joins the Sky and Earth' because I put as much sapphic energy into that as humanely possible.

Issey drama anon here, please tell us about Romance Doll because I have not heard anything about it

also, have you heard of Quartet? I've seen like 50 gifsets from it and it seems legit funny as hell

UMMM WELL- I'll put my thoughts on Romance Doll under a break at the end because the movie is pretty nsfw and weird and yeah...

Quartet is on my list! I'm definitely going to watch it at some point, but I also really wanna watch Miracles! Honestly that one has been the most interesting to me from the beginning but my adhd is just causing me to watch whatever's convenient first, not the ONE IVE REALLY WANTED TO WATCH THIS WHOLE TIME. I still have to finish Koisenu Futari too... I stopped that one cuz I was watching it with someone and we had a long period of time where we couldn't watch it. And then also it's just VERY HEAVY as a person who happens to be demi who has gone through periods of feeling like I could be aroace in the past. It's so realistic and deals with the painful things as well as the funny things and I am scared to finish it bc I KNOW THERES MORE HEAVY SHIT TO COME but it's an amazing show AND I DO WANT TO FINISH THAT ONE TOO.

And on a completely polar opposite note: ROMANCE DOLL, LMAO

Ok so, this movie is very much one of those WEIRDLY REALISTIC stories where all the characters are so real and flawed and HUGE MISTAKES ARE MADE by characters and it's just such a wild ride. You probably haven't heard about it because its FUCKING WACK.

Without giving too much away in case you wanna watch it (netflix dropped it last monday, which is actually why I ended up watching it over the weekend at all, but it's still available to rent on amazon 🙄) Issey plays Tetsuo, an unemployed art college grad who is desperate for a job. His friend gave him a tip about this sketchy job opening but told him literally nothing else about it. He shows up and this old woman greets him and shows him around and he's a bit shocked to find out it's a shop that makes SILICONE SEX DOLLS. The woman is like "your friend didn't tell you that???" And Tetsuo was like "he literally just said there was a job here-" and she laughs and says "Some friend he is then!" Honestly I loved the old lady she's great, I wish I could remember her name I'm too lazy to go look it up rn.

Anyway so yeah, he takes the job even though the interview was super awkward and there's this gross pervy old guy who works there and he doesn't really care about the subject matter he just needs money (mood)

One thing and another happens (and a lot of me wanting to slap the old man into next tuesday, seriously he's the worst) and a little bit later Tetsuo meets the love of his life through some bullshit connection to his job, and they end up getting married some time after, but she doesn't know what he does for a living and ITS ALL VERY HARD TO EXPLAIN WHY HE KEEPS THAT FROM HER without spoiling things but just- the movie is wack, I really didn't like it in the beginning but it pulls a complete 180 and ends up being this weirdly emotional and AT TIMES, a holesome wholesome slice of life movie??

Don't get me wrong it doesn't sugarcoat things like objectification of women and there's some degree of realistic portrayal of that bc of the whole Tetsuo working at a sex doll shop thing, it is very true to life- how men can be gross even if they aren't going so far as assaulting anyone. It doesn't excuse it either it just presents it as it is, which is good I think. But then there are OTHER moments where the movie is very sex positive- so its a wild fucking trip tbh. Definitely don't watch it if you have sensitivities to the things I mentioned above bc bro omg the first half almost had me like "yeah I can't watch this" a couple times jfc.

BASICALLY by the end of the movie the message is that communication and being open with people you love (and not getting bogged down with anxiety and guilt) is important, because on top of not being fair to the people who are important to you, hiding things from them can eat you up inside and make you act irrationally and hurt them even more whether you realize it or not. And also, you never know how someone will feel about the things you don't want to tell them. Something that could be huge to you could be no big deal to another.

Its just a very interesting movie. I don't know if I'd recommend it, theres some NUCLEAR SECOND HAND EMBARRASSMENT CRINGE MOMENTS like oh my god i wanted to die- and like I said above, there's lots of intense subject matter and some not so pretty moments that a lot of people may want to avoid. Id for sure check one of those sites that gives content warnings before watching bc hoo boy...

But all that aside, once again Issey is an incredible actor and his range is apparent in this movie. I saw some like- borderline SLAPSTICK physical comedy moments that had me so surprised bc he did them so well but its so new and different from anything else ive watched him star in. Dude is just unstoppable tbh. He HAS 👏 THE 👏 RANGE!! 👏

Also you get to see him naked a lot. So there's that!
