I went into work for a couple hours this afternoon. We had one final leadership team meeting to finalize a presentation to staff about some of the things we're focusing on this year. I wasn't sure how long that would take, so I went to the meeting in my running clothes in case I didn't have time to change before the annual cross country challenge. Turned out, I did have time, but since I was already set to go racing, I used the time to get some work done in my classroom.
Now, if you're wondering what this cross country challenge is, it's a two-mile scrimmage race between our high school team, one of our local rivals, and the community running club- which is who I was racing for, of course. There's a potluck dinner on the field afterwards, it's very social, it's a ton of fun. Tonight's weather was perfect and cool, too, so I had a really good run (for me, that is: I can only race the 100m dash quickly, my goal in anything else is just to not finish last).
The leadership team met again today to continue the work we started on Wednesday. It was a pretty productive meeting, and one I felt like I was able to contribute to a lot, so that's good. We're going to have one more next week because we have some new goals and expectations for the year, which we'll need to present to the whole faculty during inservice, and we need to actually make said presentation.
After today's meeting, I went upstairs with every intention of doing some work in my classroom. Instead, I ran into Ms. A, who'd just gotten back from a field hockey scrimmage, and caught up with her for a bit. She's understandably stressed about the fact that the math department's short-staffed because it could impact her teaching schedule, and she wants to know that ASAP, so she was waiting around to speak with her department head, Mrs. R, about it.
She asked if we'd been able to hire the social studies teachers we needed (yes), which reminded me that I wanted to check out the state of the classrooms our new teachers will be in. So she came with me to do that so we could continue chatting. One room's totally fine, but the other wasn't in use this past year, so it was... not terrible, but also not great. I spent an hour or so straightening it up, then called it a day.
I’ve took a good look at the cellar shelves, and I do have a little canning I must do this summer. We’ve planted the potatoes and onions so all we do is wait for them and a productive summer.
Onions and potatoes are in the ground and we’re waiting on the ground to get warmer to plant the beans and corn.
The list isn’t long, and all depends on the weather and how well the garden grows. The top…
hot girl summer but its me taking care of my emotional health, spending time under the sun, reading more, finding new things that make me happy, doing things that bring out good versions of myself
capitalism is a failure of a system and need to be completely abolished
>store says they're hiring
>50 people apply
>30 don't hear back from them
>19 get told they "don't meet the qualifications"
>one single person gets hired
>store gives them way to much work for one person
>new employee says that they need to hire more people
>"what are you talking about? we have enough people working in your department"
>but no you actually don't. you have one single person working at a time. I only work mornings, every single morning. other guy only works afternoons, every single afternoon. what happens when one of us is sick?
>also, what if I'm busy with something else like stocking, and a customer needs my help? what then? you're asking me to work five people's jobs at once. so either pay me five times my salary or hire four other people
>"no. you're fired"
mfw
>go to that store later to buy something
>no one is working at the department I worked at
>end up waiting 40 minutes to buy something
>don't blame the cashier. he was pulled away to do something else. it's the bosses fault for not hiring more people
>as I leave there are "we're hiring" signs plastered all over the door
