starting chronologically (according to canon, not publication)(publication order is: all ivypool darkforest books (2011 and prev) crookeds promise (2011), great battle (last hope 2012, she permadies here) and maples vengeance (2015)

i actually really liked mapleshade's vengeance, all things considered. it comes last in the mapleshade storyline according to publication date, and up until then we really didn't know much about her, and i believe this is where she gets a personality other than "random DF lady" and "rude ghost villain". the erins are not good writers by any means, but i felt that mapleshade's internal monologue and the way she saw the world was genuinely pretty decent. they portrayed her as obsessive and manipulative and as an unreliable narrator. it was one of the first books i read upon returning to the fandom in 2018 and it was a thrill to read, because i hadn't been spoiled on it.

the erins have a habit of writing surprise/accidental pregnancies as plot points, which has the implication of like… flings/one night stands. it's best not to think about it. it's pretty obvious upfront that appledusk is not as in to her as she is in to him, but she doesn't see it. she talks about him in her narrations as a sweet and loving man and talks about their family and future together, but when we the readers finally see him, he's calloused and doesn't really care about her. i think she even sees him with reedshine at a gathering and gets mad before she thinks "oh he's just doing that so no one gets suspicious" (not quoting or anything, i havent read the novel since 2018) girl. their relationship was obviously just a fling to him, but to her they were in love. i liked the way this was written as opposed to all the other times in warriors weve seen a man have a hissy fit because a girl rejected him. (ashfur is the glaring example but also crowfeather, brambleclaw) her denial and refusal to accept what she was seeing (that she was the side piece) was the interesting part.

she has her children and then ravenwing spills the beans. why on earth would he do that? why would it benefit the clan or anyone? from a logistical standpoint, thunderclan lost 3 potential new warriors and mapleshade never implied she was going to riverclan. anyway, he didn't even have proof. he just assumed. i think he rightfully got what was coming for him, since if he would have kept his mouth shut, 7 cats including himself wouldn't have died. sorry mini rant i don't like him. anyway we know the rest of the story. kits die, maple kills ravenwing for telling her secret, she kills frecklewish for not helping (no, she couldn't have jumped in to save the kits without probably dying herself but she COULD have stood up for maple in thunderclan, and she was upstream so she could have yelled out and warned maple of the flood but im NOT getting into that and i dont care) and then she goes to kill reedshine but kills appledusk instead. did he deserve it? he was kinda a dick but mapleshade was like stalker-obsessed with him (i think she uses the phrase "my appledusk" in her narration but i might be wrong) after what was ostensibly a one night stand. perchpaw wounds mapleshade to the point where once she flees the scene, she dies of blood loss. cool

the story of a mothers love (and a mother's loss) is an age-old tale. in a franchise where all female characters are doomed to become boring cookie-cutter mothers, this loss and violent rage was awesome.

everyone told me to read crookedstar's promise, because it was the best super edition. i.. do not agree with that. tbh i thought it was long and boring and went nowhere. crookedstar suffered many tragedies in his life, and he lost everyone he loved, and then the book suddenly ends with him going "im ok (:" and dying. (i was reading a pdf and not a physical copy so it was VERY abrupt for me. i legit sat there like.. so that's it? i read 500+ pages for that?) i can't really blame mapleshade for this (since shes not real) but it does factor in. her idea of revenge against appledusk was to torture an injured baby? who then grew up and had no idea who the fuck appledusk was? why not raise him and give him the love he craved so that when the time came, he would be more likely to do her bidding?? her motives here make no sense. not super important. anyway.

and then she's seen occasionally in the dark forest and she tries to drown ivypaw for no reason once. idk she was obviously just a background character in these scenes (since they came first) but the fans saw a female in the dark forest and were like. thank god a woman. can you blame them. then the erins built her up from that.

anyway mapleshade has this generations long story of manipulating younger cats, and a POV book where she's obviously obsessive, controlling, stalkerish and chooses brutally uncommon violence as a way to get back at those who wrong her. (she unburies ravenwing's body so crows can eat it, and she uses adders to kill frecklewish, despite the fact the snakes could easily go for her.) she puts HERSELF in danger to do these things because she's impulsive, she justifies all her actions to herself by saying its revenge for her children and in the end, she pushes the last remnants of the kittens she thinks she's fighting for away. this is a cool story about a woman who's pushed to the edge and takes everyone down with her. for ONCE its not a man with deadwifepain.

and what does the fandom do

they girlbossify her. they fight over if she's in the wrong or not (she is. she killed people.) they take everything about her that made her compelling and turn her into "grr my husband cheated on me and me kids are dead. sad." she gets turned into the most basic, boring, cookie cutter "evil" lady. she kills people for fun and not because she had a reason to or a goal (in her mind). she suffers the most tragic kind of loss that there is and gets no time to grieve before she is run out of her home, and her reaction to this is pure RAGE, and the fandom turns her into this boring, slay QUEEN!!! (not the pregnant cat kind), always been evil, always been hardcore, ~So CrAzY~, "my eyeliner is sharp to stab men" girlboss. where's the nuance. where's the passion!!? she's a miserable, impulsive, manipulating failure. she blames others for her mistakes and bad judgment and punishes others for her shortfallings. she can't be vulnerable and broken, she can only cry because dead kids and then kill evil husband and evil husbands wife. she's even sometimes portrayed as like "boss" of the dark forest, wrangling all the men. barf.

so to answer your question, it's the general fandom* portrayal that i hate, but i honestly wouldn't trust the erins with her at this point. (the erins are influenced by their fans, for example (old person voice) back in my day, firestar and scourge being brothers was just a fan theory.) i'm glad they permakilled her in the great battle so they cant bring her back to ruin anything. actually thinking about her to write this out and reflect on why i don't like her made me sympathize for her. i like text mapleshade with a little bit of fanon sprinkled in for flavor.

and hey. usually when the fandom adopts a character, they're right. the fandom likes to get really in to random bg/side characters and give them lives they would never have in canon. but sadly (or not, depending on your opinion), when those get popular and breach containment, they spread everywhere and suddenly people think this IS canon. look at how many of us thought that brambleclaw killed hawkfrost directly after he killed hollyleaf, because that was the easy way to portray the great battle in MAPs, only to have someone point out, years after this has become the common sequence of events, that brambleclaw actually hunts him down, brings him back to camp, and then murders him POW style!!!

*btw. im in no way saying that all mapleshade-based projects or aus or whatever are bad, even if she is sexy girlboss in them. some of my favorite maps portray her like that.

anyway. TLDR:

None Of The Crows Will Die

I know many of us are afraid that when we get SoC 3, a Crow has to die. And many people think it's Kaz but just like a post @quillsthrills made, Killing Kaz is Killing Hope. (Sorry for the tag but you made a valuable point!!)

And I've also seen another or multiple posts about how Leigh can't kill off any of the Crows because how is she going to defend killing off a disabled boy with severe PTSD, a girl who also has severe PTSD and survived sex trafficking, a boy who has ADHD and is recovering from a gambling addiction, a boy who has dyslexia and had an abusive father, and a plus sized girl recovering from a drug addiction. (I don't know who posted this but please take the credit, I just typed this from my memory and understanding.)

And the reason Matthias died was because Leigh planned it from the start. She knew he was going to die, and his death was relevant to his character arc.

And I don't know if Leigh secretly plans to kill another one of the Crows but she can't justify killing any of the remaining 5 crows. And their deaths contribute nothing to their character development.

I also stumbled into this quote that I highlighted from my copy of Six of Crows.

The first day trekking was like a cleansing—little talk, the white hush of the north welcoming Matthias back without judgement. He'd expected more complaints, but even Wylan had simply put his head down and walked. They're all survivors, Matthias understood. They adapt.

This was during their trek through Fjerda, going to the Ice Court.

And maybe I'm not contributing any new points but I would just like to point out that the Crows are survivors, even Matthias said so. He wasn't including himself and I don't know if that's because he still didn't like associating himself with the rest of the Crows or if this was possible foreshadowing, which will be a stretch, but Kaz, Inej, Jesper, Wylan, and Nina are all survivors.

They represent and stand for all the people who've gone through the experiences they've had, which although are extreme to the average person, we still resonate with. And killing any of them wouldn't send a good message.

Leigh can't kill Kaz because he stands for the people who are surviving and living in spite of whatever challenges they face.

Leigh can't kill Inej because she stands for the people who are healing and have found purpose in the lives they live.

Leigh can't kill Jesper because he stands for the people who are learning from their mistakes and trying to do better.

Leigh can't kill Wylan because he stands for the people who have found peace and prosperity despite their upbringing and let go of the ones who hurt them.

Leigh can't kill Nina because she stands for the people who have faced an incredible loss and doing their best to move on and live life to the fullest.

These aren't the only reasons and just reflect my interpretation of the characters but I really believe Leigh can't give these characters tragic endings because they all deserve happy, hopeful ones.

You Belong with Me (kinda) inspired AU because I don't think I can write it consistently. Chlonette.

Marinette is an artist and still an aspiring fashion designer. While she isn't unpopular, she's mostly known for her sweetness and kindness to other people. She's had confessions, few, but she's only ever liked one guy since freshman year: Adrien Agreste.

Adrien, who happens to be dating Chloe. Chloe Bourgeois, Queen Bee and childhood rival of Marinette. The blonde always gets on her nerves purposely. It's like she goes out of her way to annoy her at least once in a day.

"Here," Chloe all but shoves an umbrella to her, eying her distastefully, "Wouldn't want you looking like a rabid dog."

Despite her confusion, she keeps the yellow and black umbrella.

Marinette isn't a homewrecker. Despite her massive crush, she still respects Adrien and Chloe's relationship. So what if she coincidentally is there so spectate almost every public display affection of them, she's not jealous. Especially not of Chloe. Spoiled, brat, pretty, funny- wait, ew.

Chloe and Adrien are fencers along with Kagami who in reality, Chloe has a crush on. She begged Adrien to 'pretend' to date her for a couple of weeks to see if it irks something from the stoic blue haired girl.

"Congratulations to you both. I wish you a prosperous relationship." Was all she said, her eyes lingering on Adrien. Fuck.

Adrien hands her her favorite ice cream, a comforting hand placed on her shoulder. "I'm sorry, Chloe..."

She sniffs, but doesn't cry. Huh, maybe she's quick to move on than she expected. "It's fine."

News of Adrien and Chloe splitting starts but neither deny or confirm.

Alya's the head/president of the publishing team/school newspaper and she tags Marinette along to help her with Adrien now that Chloe is apparently out of the picture.

Chloe is, unfairly, attractive after a match. She's not even close to panting and her hair is just slightly messed and her posture straight and poised and oh Marinette is staring. At the wrong blonde. Fuck.

Prom is close and coming.

"Are you going to ask Adrien?" "What? No! Chloe would kill me!" "Girl, they're broken up haven't you heard?" "Uh, huh. Sure."

She doesn't believe it though. Chloe hasn't been ranting or bursting about their break up or cause unnecessary annoyance to everyone on how life is treating her poorly.

Chloe commissions a dress and a suit.

"One's for Daddy's upcoming gala." She had said. She didn't know why she needed to explain. She didn't think Marinette deserved to know. Marinette just looked at her, surprised but not judging, and nodded.

After numerous coffees, shopping trips and awkward positions (being locked inside the lab room and needing to cuddle to keep warm coughs a classic) they were able to get their dresses done.

After Chloe occupied most of her time, Marinette realized too late she hadn't tried asking Adrien.

She didn't panic. Huh. Just a sense of slight regret.

It's only after she took a look at Chloe's dress and suit (she had wanted a similar theme for some reason) she realized Chloe's clothes matched her own prom dress.

She told Chloe, expecting the worst. What she didn't expect was her widening her eyes, blushing, and stuttering an inaudible response before fleeing.

Chloe starts avoiding her, only attempting conversation when she asks about the dress and suit.

Marinette misses her. Her presence has...been a huge part of her daily life now and she's suddenly gone and she's confused and annoyed and sad and-

Fuck. "Alya, I think I might like Chloe." "I think you got the wrong blonde, babe." A sigh. "I wished."

She tried to ask Adrien anyways, maybe she was just confused and because she hasn't seen him much?

He says yes. Oh.

Prom comes. Marinette is debating what to wear. Adrien texted he'll be there soon and she waits

Her parents gave her a confusing look but later gave them smiles and took pictures.

They arrive at prom.

Chloe was wearing a suit. A suit! Fuck, her suit. Double fuck, she looked amazing.

"Hey, you guys match!" A confused Adrien, an amused Alya, an equally confused Nino, and a blushing Chloe.

They dance into the night.

They don't talk about it for a few days but they're less awkward now. Hanging out again albeit not the same as usual.

Then, "Chloé...I have heard from Adrien you had developed feelings for me prior to Prom?"

1. How many works do you have on AO3? I have 10 as of now (7 for Sherlock and 3 for Harry Potter, though the HP fics were either begun or completed in 2012 (first posted on ff.net)... in other words, before I knew about JK's raging transphobia. I finally finished a HP WIP in 2020 that I had abandoned years ago, after my resulting disillusionment, because I decided that my work didn't deserve to be in vain. I'm so glad I did!

2. What's your total A03 word count? 168,333

3. What fandoms do you write for? On AO3, just BBC Sherlock and HP, though I have Smallville, Supernatural, and even a Gilmore Girls fic on my ff.net account (the earliest of them written in 2006) that I will NOT be linking here. 😂

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes! Mainly because I love when authors reply to mine - it acknowledges my gratitude and can open a line of communication. Plus, I just get so excited by every single comment notification that I need to squee and send hearts to the sender.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? None of my Sherlock fics have angsty endings, though that was my original goal for Never Been Better. It originally ended with Chapter 1, but I added two more chapters upon popular demand to fix things. :) It's a classic Sherlock-leaves-John's-wedding-early fic, so I'd intended to explore what may have happened within canon as sort of a missing scene/character exploration. Ultimately, however, I decided to throw a bone to poor Sherlock and disregard canon events.

However, my Harry Potter fic The Burn of the Phoenix, which I migrated to AO3 in 2020 after it's huge reception on ff.net back in 2012 (it's a 13k-word oneshot with 273 reviews and 951 favorites, though I'd definitely not write it the same way today), is definitely angsty. The end is hopeful, but ultimately... I killed Harry Potter. So. 😂 The ending, as it doesn't miraculously entail Harry coming back to life, can certainly be considered angsty as well. The entire fic is from Dudley's perspective as he learns of Harry's death (an alternate version of canon) and attends his funeral.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? As described above, all of my fics have happy endings! Though I'd say the one that's most unabashedly happy with minimal lingering pain and turmoil is Cold Inside. Genius comes close, but Sherlock is horrifically injured even despite happy news that comes in the last chapter so there's still an uphill battle ahead.

8. Do you get hate on fics? No, though I did get a very direct comment on The Waning of Withdrawal - the first time I ever wrote smut - that said the following (the "At all" was particularly harsh):

"I loved the fic and the way you formed everything with the comforting,and the understanding,the guilt and stuff and angst in the main part of the fic but I'm not a huge fan of how much detail went into their love part and stuff.. Not saying it's bad! I'm sure some people absolutely love it but I'm personally not a huge fan of the sex scene. At all."

(Luckily, two other commenters jumped in to my defense!) It seems innocuous enough, but I'd included an A/N that said it was my first time writing a love scene, despite it being brief, so "please go easy on me". The rating and tags were appropriate, too, so it seemed a bit out of the blue. That one little comment knocked my confidence for a while and made it impossible for me to re-read the fic without cringing.

9. Do you write smut? Just two of my Sherlock fics so far are rated E for smut. The Waning of Withdrawal, as described above, and Cold Inside, which has a lengthy sex scene in Chapter 4. It was so much harder than I thought to write - there's nothing quite like meticulously editing writing comprised of graphic depictions of anal sex, haha.

10. Do you write crossovers? No, nor do I usually enjoy them. I really admire the creativity, but tend to prefer fics that are plausible and in-canon; it's just a preference (with exceptions, of course!) That being said, crossovers that could happen between comparable universes - such as Sherlock and Hannibal - really appeal to me in theory.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but I'd be so thrilled!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, nor do I have a beta. I'm sure it could improve my work, but I feel horrifically self conscious during any editing process that involves another person. It's something I need to work on!

14. What's your all-time favourite ship? Sherlock & John and Arthur & Merlin are pretty neck-in-neck. I don't have many Merlin bookmarks, as it was my prior obsession before Sherlock, but I've been delving more into the Merlin fandom lately. Writing for it just seems harder for me - accounting for historical accuracy (though the show isn't historically accurate at all, it's just an entirely different universe) and the bounds of Merlin's magic would be tricky. Maybe one day.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? HAHAHAHAHA so... I did use to write more than one fic at once, waaaay back in the day, but have long since learned my lesson. I refuse to have true WIPs anymore - I only develop one idea at a time - and don't even publish a story until it's complete or almost complete (and fully outlined). Why? Well, there's one WIP I will NEVER finish. It's a Supernatural fic on ff.net with 6 chapters (out of a planned minimum of 10), first published in March of 2007 and last updated in February of 2008. Ooops.

It most recently received a review in 2015, which reads as follows: "WOW! ...update any time soon?...PLEASE...k"

Yeah. So. Never again for me.

16. What are your writing strengths? Based on the comments I receive, I think my strengths are characterization and dialogue. Oddly enough, these are two of my insecurities, but I think that my hyperfixation on both (knowing that I need to consciously work on them) has led to vast improvement.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I often have a difficult time coming up with the initial premise, and am not nearly as creative as many of the writers out there I admire. Ideas usually come without me trying - such as late at night or in the shower - so I jot them down whenever that happens. That's all that seems to work for me. FTH was great in that it took a bit of the burden off and allowed me to elicit prompts from bidders instead.

I also struggle to weave incredibly complex stories. I don't think I'll ever be one of those writers who can write 100k-plus fics full of twists and turns. My plots tend to be more narrow, focused, and immediate.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? As cool as this is - and I may be able to do this with Spanish, as it was my university minor - I wouldn't want dialogue to read as clunky or unnatural to a native speaker or to impede the flow of the prose (I'd want to add translations when possible in parentheses so as not to discourage readers who are not bilingual, unless the dialogue is short and can be translated in an end note).

In Genius, I have excerpts here and there in Serbian, but I ultimately use English to express longer Serbian dialogue (between <brackets> rather than "quotation marks" to indicate the difference in language being spoken and with the acknowledgement that translations are never 1-1. For me, this also helped preserve Sherlock's personality and ensure it could shine through.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Smallville! Way back in 2006. It was terrible; I killed Clark in an alternate version of S5's Hidden. I'm not sure what used to be the appeal of character death to me. You'd never catch me writing it now.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written? It's hard to choose, but I have two answers for different reasons. The fic I'm most proud of writing is Genius. I worked SO, SO hard on the story outline, plot, and the symbolism and clues thrown in throughout. It's my longest and most complex story so far at 51K words, too.

The story I believe to be my best is Never Been Better; specifically, its first chapter. I don't think I've since written a more in-character version of Sherlock or a starker portrayal of his emotions.

I also have a huge soft spot for my Harry Potter fic The Truth at Last, which is the first fic I ever posted to AO3. It marks a huge improvement in my writing from when I first started it in 2012, as I was able to return to it in 2019/20 with a more mature perspective.

hi everyone this feels wildly self centered and silly but i made a guide to my dyke drama/lore that i talk about in barely coded but convoluted terms. i love internet safety. doing this at the request of exactly one person and for the rest of u it's under the cut if youre curious and feel so inclined hashtag close friends <3 i highlighted my previous ways of referring to these people and important notes bc otherwise i just rambled soooo bad <3 and as much as im maybe romanticizing in some ways here i do genuinely care for and love (most of) these people outside of my weirdofreak brain and try my best to do well by them in our relationships. and maybe i just wanted to write beautiful things about my friends whatever

lydia: they're on here we met on here and now we're roommates. we met bc we were two of the only bitches posting in the muna tag and she was brave enough to reply to my one naomi video. and i was like um ok... steve: this is gonna be ex situationship from beginning of this semester - mid october. gets this name bc they're obsessed w that pirate show so like stede but i simply wont name them that and at this point im annoyed enough w their taste in things that steve feels fitting. anyway. was genuinely very kind and sweet but also got clingy soo fast and we were on very different pages. we'd met last fall (when they had a gf) and worked together on sets and in a couple classes, they kind of got caught up in my triangulation of desire for jane at her birthday party.. and i had fun flirting! um and they were genuinely again very very considerate and sweet but like. seemed to struggle to have a personality outside of their ex and maybe their siblings a bit. idk. just very passive. sowwy. also they were not a very good kisser. i do remember back in may being vindicated bc they also commented on film girl and bf

jane: naming her jane in a gay way. a jane austen way. in that i think we should write lifelong love letters to each other. holy shit shut up. so this is always 'friend im in love with' or 'a little in love with' or whatever. she is also girl with cool short hair and piercings and tattoos and a bookbag with tits on it so god forbid my infatuation. and i just love her voice and i think she's brilliant and so good at what she does and all around just like an awesome person she inspires me to be better and whatever. and she always dresses so cool and used to host house shows (i still never made it to one) (film girl did once) and when we first started talking we were at a film event and were supposed to be networking or whatever but instead we stood by the drinks together and talked abt how we both wanted to be friends in our writing class but never said it and thought the other hated each other a little bit but we were both just awkward and so we'd always make eye contact and laugh and banter together in class and i rlly was just in love with her. and this summer was crazyyy we were on steve's set together and i was a little freak just so obviously enamored with her but the thing is she was obnoxious too so i didnt even feel like a loser. she asked me to massage her arms once and said my half assed attempt was lame and we leg wrestled (also w steve. kinda funny. like yeah u would) and exchanged drunk stories and she said i needed better ones and then i beat her at stack cup at her bday and gave her her card and she hugged me and her lips were wet from the beer she just drank from and right on my arm and i was like wow. her kingdom (surrounded by people who she loved and loved her) for a kiss upon my shoulder. if u will. and i had to have a middle school Look Away moment bc she stripped in front of a few of us that night and i was far too intoxicated to not like lose my mind. also she was supposed to give me a book on set once but never did and im still bummed. and one random night she texted asking if id found a place to live and when i answered she never followed up and i still wonder what that was abt. if anything. um but she does have a boyfriend of like 5 or 6 years. from high school. the worst part is hes a semi cool dude but it's just like really. let her fuck a woman! just once even! jk they are both genuinely cool people first and i think it's great they found each other in this life. but also like fuck off ugh. yk. not to romanticize my life and friendships i just think in another life we were soulmates or maybe in a way we are now. but we also only knew each other for a brief time so maybe something else. we could've done backstreets

sam: friend i just mentioned recently who has a crazy name we shant get into it. i do have a different actual friend named sam but i havent seen her in forever. so i met them working on steve's senior film set and thought they were cool and they were one of the only ones to make it out to our post-wrap dinner/drinks and then we had two classes together this semester. and so we became sort of allies we'd meet up to go to the museum together and send each other the attendance and i went to see fnaf when he rented out a theater for a huge group lol and he helped on my film which meant a lot even if it was only for a bit cause of you know. the everything that was going on. with steve and etc. it wasnt easy to get there so like bless their heart. they also came up with the name for my film and we had that moment around the fire and well i do hope i'll continue to see them just as a friend even, and they're genuinely just the coolest they do a lot of drag and character/costume design and are genuinely just one of the funniest most down to earth ppl i know and they always have the coolest fucking outfits and hats and shit and omg they looked so good in their doc. just something abt the posture and the whimsy and the earnestness and look overall. woah. um when we were on steve's set my friend jackie leaned over and said 'i thought they were film girl for a second' so basically i need to redacted. but it's not like that bad of a resemblance. once again has a partner cause im cursed forever to sleep on a twin size mattress maybe or whatever. i havent even listened to that song more than like once but maybe it is real for me. anyway they were also in the class with steve and film girl with dave.

stede: im sorry this is so funny to me bc this person and steve go by the same name irl but spelled differently or whatever. we met and had a very energetic chat in the hallway at the beginning of this semester jim thought we knew each other lol. they're real cute and endearing and like i said kind of give butch. and we had two classes together but i had so much shit going on man i just. yeah. seemed like they were maybe a little into me but whatever. and well i think we should have a fling but who said that

jim: my buddy prof he's my buddy :-) he helped me so much sophomore spring as i was trying rlly hard to produce our class films and insane already over film girl (he didnt know that but it was omnipresent) and so close to dropping out and is just the coolest guy. he's a little bit like a father figure what who said that. i remind him of his youngest daughter a lot and ive lived in the same buildings as his older one. so just funny connections. i go to his office hours and such a lot with the film friends

grace: one of my film friends. (i just realized i do know a girl in film named grace but it's not her so anyway.) i am in awe of the way she commits to stuff and motivates people around her. she is just so game for anything to make the best of a situation. shes studying abroad this semester so ive only seen her on video chats/texted and missed the one day she came back for her bf's bday. well and she was the friend who said 'no he can keep himself busy' when we went to go see x together so she didnt make me hang out w her not even lame bf at first which was so nice. cause then i eventually actually did want to meet him. and theyre the least annoying couple ive ever met. and shes bi <3

Hello! I'm a little torn with the way I want to respond to this anon but I'm going to stick with facts rather than giving in to the feisty side of me that's begging to take center stage.

In the TOG series, SJM took a 19 year old girl who had been running from her birthright for over half her life and turned her Queen by the end of the series. A 19 year old who was an assassin and about as far away from court politics as you could get.

And made a hundreds of year old Fae warrior who worked for someone in a position of "power" her "consort."

In the Crescent City series, SJM has taken a party girl who had done nothing of real importance in her life prior to the start of the books and is turning her into the savior of all, a true descendent of the Starborn Fae. I don't know exactly what will happen by the end of the series but Bryce is already more "special" than she probably deserved for what she had been doing.

Tamlin never wanted to be High Lord:

I never expected—never wanted—my father’s title. My brothers would have never let me live to adolescence if they had suspected that I did. So the moment I was old enough, I joined my father’s war-band and trained so that I might someday serve my father, or whichever of my brothers inherited his title.” He flexed his hands, as if imagining the claws beneath. “I’d realized from an early age that fighting and killing were about the only things I was good at.”

He actively turned his back on learning how to be a ruler yet low and behold he was made High Lord (only for the time being I think). He's obviously not fit to be a ruler considering he gives f*ck all concern for his people right now.

In the ACOTAR series we have a 19 year old human queen who is queen simply because SJM decreed it so yet we have no proof of what she'd done to earn that title.

Elain has been noted as observant from book 1 and raised in a household where her mother raised Nesta on political aspirations. She didn't need to focus on Elain for those lessons for Elain to absorb the information and observe her mother and Nesta's behavior. She grew up surrounded by the political games too. She has been noted to enjoy taking care of people, something which started in book 1. In book 2 we're reminded she can convince anyone to do anything with a few smiles. She's noted to enjoy making friends, talking to people. In ACOFAS Feyre is left amazed at the wisdom Elain spoke and her observations over what something meant to the people of Velaris. In SF Cassian is impressed with how much Elain saw and observed. Elain has actively gone out to help the people of Velaris and she found a way to get humans to safety during the war. There are hints of her being loving and kind, a gentle soul who grows beautiful things (but as Rhys said, can get her hands dirty if necessary) and we know Spring in general has fallen into disrepair and it's people need hope and faith and someone to believe in. They also currently believe Lucien complicit in the lies Feyre told. Elain, who can convince anyone to do anything with a few smiles could be someone they follow and believe her when she restores his good name.

Can Elain lead an army or command generals? Probably not but could Elain help restore a people's faith and become their figure head? Why not if SJM wills it as so. And if Lucien were by her side, he could easily help her navigate. They would be a team just as Rowaelin were however Elain could still be given the title of power.

I'm not quite sure what it is about theories that confuses you. Maybe you'd prefer I use an ACOTAR hypothesis tag? We don't have one of those so unfortunately that's not the way to have a post seen but regardless, I'm not claiming anything as fact. My theory is simply my guess as to what might happen and will only be proven wrong or right when we get the next books. So I'm allowed to "feed" people delusions theories all I like. They can agree, disagree, keep it on the back burner just in case but what no one should be doing is coming into anyone's blog and telling them they're not allowed to come up with their own ideas of what could happen.

I'm not smarter than anyone in this fandom. I don't have SJM insider info. But by now, I'd like to think most followers understand that I'm not pulling my theories out of my ass with nothing to back them up and I also have read enough books by SJM to know that the females are the ones who are meant to shine. I am taking things that are actually in the book to build these ideas so you claiming I'm delusional when the text supports it as a real possibility is quite confusing to me. Could I be wrong? Definitely. But there's enough that if I turned out to be right, we have thinks to look back on and say, "ohhh! Those were possible hints!"

A head popped around the curtains, and the nurse who was changing the dressings motioned something with her hands, and Callie took off again, nodding.

"Was that..Is she deaf? I hope you don't mind me asking," Cora asked with wide eyes, her face alight in interest.

"I can maybe ask around for you in a few hours, I think you should get some rest while you can, First, before that happens, I need to change your dressings." She answered warmly from the other side of the room, where she was dropping the used equipment into a yellow bag.

Cora nodded, tapping on the small cannula that snaked off the bed, behind her, where it connected to a small bag of what looked like water, even though it clearly wasn't water.

As the nurse came over, she took Cora's forearm in her hands affably, and in a second or two, there was a fresh sheet of cloth on her wound, the sting of ointment felt easily beneath the layer.

"Right, so I'm not trying to be weird, but since the other bandage is around your torso, I'm going to need you to loosen and pull down your gown,"

"Oh, okay. Also, I was wondering, what's your name, so I can stop referring to you as 'kind woman'?"

The lady laughed a little, her eyes crinkling at the sides, easily visible even through the lack of light.

She'd been angry at everything that night, not to mention tired, still drowsy from whatever Warren put in the champagne, and she'd taken it out on poor Anthony, who'd just been trying to help. She failed to ask his dad where his son had been when the reception took place, eventually finding out that he went through something that was probably worse than what she had from the grapevine of chatter that circulated around the offices, since TJ was conveniently ushered out of the room whenever she came into it by anyone who was there at the time.

But despite TJ's physical presence (and the warmth and light and love he brought) being absent from the too-long hallways that her boots loved to echo on as she tried to sort her shit out on the walk to and from a taxi (she'd been too terrified to use her car), she'd still think of him.

And it helped chase her demons away for a while.

Wiping her eyes a little, she wondered how far from the ward TJ was, and if she would have any time to bury herself underneath the sheets and sleep.

TW: references to murder, aphobia, acephobia

I was reading a review which, rightfully, was basically ripping apart the decision to make a documentary in which the asshole who brutally murdered 17 year old Bianca Devins and posted pictures of her dead body online was interviewed, and to air this on channel 4 (fuck him. Let him die and rot in obscurity).

Which kind of gave me flashbacks to the horrific shitstorm of aphobia that her murder stirred up on here back then, something which I'm sure plenty of people who are still on here and were at least a party to even if they didn't directly participate in it themselves have never acknowledged was disgusting and they probably have just tried to quietly sweep the fact that they had any part in that under the rug and don't care how many people they harmed in the process.

I mean these people cared more about trying to """"prove""" Bianca couldn't possibly be asexual, despite the fact that she had essentially said she was not that long before she died, than they did about the fact that she was a 17 year old girl who was violently murdered and that countless people including her family and friends were traumatised by being forcibly shown graphic images of her dead body. Even some people claiming to be her friends apparently cared more about insisting she couldn't possibly be asexual than they did about condemning the bastard who killed her or the other assholes glorifying him and her murder. People were literally acting like being asexual is worse than being a violently misogynistic 'incel' or a child murderer. It was absolutely sickening.

And a lot of those ~exclusionists~ who ran ~ace discourse~ blogs (as if endlessly invalidating and shit-talking about a marginalised sexual orientation was just the same as liking a TV show or a book or something) kept going on and on about "aphobia doesn't exist" even while people were posting those really graphic images of Bianca's murdered body in not just the asexual tags but the fucking ace positivity tags to ~own the aceys who dare to think they're oppressed~; while they were actively sending those pictures to people just for being asexual; while they were denying there was the slightest chance Bianca could have possibly been asexual as if being asexual is somehow the most horrific thing a person could ever be; while they were denying anyone who has ever had sex or even had a sexual thought in their entire life could be asexual thus invalidating and denying the sexuality of many, many thousands of asexual people; while they were attacking asexual people who were understandably upset about a girl who many of us only knew about because she had said she was asexual being brutally killed, and claiming asexual people were "using her murder for discourse points" while it was them posting the most vile things about asexual people and using her murder as a weapon to try to traumatise and silence us, and while most of the asexual people who said anything about Bianca's murder were not even saying anything about it being related to the possibility she was asexual. And also people were upset too because in a group that is pretty much guaranteed to have a much higher level of sex repulsion amongst its members, that group is very likely to be disproportionately affected by the issue of being assaulted or possibly even killed for rejecting someone's sexual advances compared to various other groups, so a lot of asexual people were, in addition to being upset about a girl being murdered and in many cases having to see graphic images of her murder, also terrified of something similar happening to them. But apparently being afraid in addition to grieving for a murdered child also made asexuals terrible people who deserved to be attacked.

I don't know and I don't even particularly care whether Bianca was really asexual or whether she was, like many other people, just trying out a different label for one of various possible reasons. She was murdered while she was still a minor so no, none of us have a clue what she would have said about her sexual orientation a day later or a week later or a year later or whatever. But it's still a fact that for whatever reason she did it that she had a connection to asexual people and that connection made her death even more personal and more traumatic and yes, more frightening too, for many asexual people. So you had these people, people of a marginalised, minority sexuality and many of whom were minors or still young themselves, who were firstly terribly upset that a 17 year old girl had been violently killed anyway, a girl who many of us only had any awareness of already because she had essentially said she was asexual, and secondly that these disgusting images of her death were being forced upon us including in some asexual people's inboxes and in our 'positivity' tags, and thirdly that whatever the reasoning behind her murder was it raised (yet again) the stark fact that people can be attacked and sometimes even murdered just for turning down someone's sexual advances, a possibility which is of course not unique to asexual people and overall we never tried to claim it was but it is very likely to disproportionately affect us compared to certain other groups. And we were being attacked for this even by people who claimed they were the ~good guys protecting the LGBT community from the evil cishet invaders~, attacked for being devastated about a girl being horribly killed, for being upset and in some cases actively traumatised by having those images of her murdered body forced upon us, for being afraid that something similar could happen to us, for being angry that people were going out of their way to not just attack asexuals but also to use poor Bianca's horrific death to try to invalidate, erase and silence us. All of this while we were being yelled at that "aphobia doesn't exist" by people who in many cases literally just saw themselves as nothing more than ~exclusionists~.

No I will not forget what those people did and I will never forgive them, for that or everything else they did to us because they thought attacking and invalidating us was just ~haha so much fun~ and a great hobby before many of them apparently decided attacking asexuals and aromantics was boring and moved on to attacking and invalidating and denying the oppression of the next 'hot target'.

And fuck that documentary.

I am still so sorry Bianca. I hope you're at peace.

Living Single (1993)

A tightknit group of educated, successful, and sex positive black people???? I don't think I need to say more. I've watched this series so many times and it never gets old and I never stop relating to it.

A Different World (1987)

Sometimes I really regret not going to an HBCU, I feel like I missed out on a positive black experience so I rewatch A Different World ALOT and pretend I'm there.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990)

A lot of black sitcom classics shaped me into the person I am today. That series was and still is a vibe...but please believe that series fell off a bit when the replaced Darkskin Aunt Viv with the Lightskin one. Anways Hilary is a fashion icon and has somehow become my favorite character. She was the it girl for me (Ashley too).

Sleepy Hollow (2013)

I was just there for Abbie Mills. She was the first black character I've ever seen starring in a Supernatural series. Honestly...I fucks with Jenny Mills and Captain Irving too. Black folks as mains in a supernatural show was just so amazing to me. I watched this series religiously...until they killed Abbie off. Too bad racism ruined such a thrilling series.

Shadowhunters (2016)

I will be real...I couldn't STAND Clary or Jace or Clary's mother...like at all BUT I loved everything else about the series. Malec was literally the only ship I was invested in (and Maia when she was with Simon but Simon didn't deserve her oh and maybe Izzy and Raphael) and the everyone casted to play the main Downworlders were BEAUTIFUL. It was just the right amounts of diversity, lgbtq, and fantasy for me at the time.

Takumi-kun Series (2007)

This movie series was one of my first intros to BL and my gawd does it hold a special place for me. The series is low budget af but the actual story behind the main character literally rips me to shreds everytime. Takumi deserved better.

Love in the Air (2022)

I don't think I need to explain this one. I love them and this series and it was my whole personality for a hot minute.

Bed Friend (2023)

OKAY SO. In WDWD we're introduced to Vincent FIRST, he's the ex-fiance of the protagonists' uncle and we learn from his brief appearances and the comments from the uncle that he's a bad dude. He's a doctor and a scientist and he sooooo wants to be able to experiment on people and modify them, but not in a "safe and thoroughly researched to mitigate risks" way, like, he wants to take people apart and put them back together in new and exciting ways. He's also just like a shit person, like manipulative and controlling and we get hints of this from, again, the uncle, who used to be engaged to him and Vincent still blames his ex coworker for homewrecking (Josef didn't not homewreck, but not the way Vincent implies, he just helped Nick realize how Vincent was treating him wasn't right and supported him in ending things, you know the drill). ANYWAY. Enter Harry: when we first meet him, he's a humanoid frog man, and then we realize he's got a scorpion tail (the frog and the scorpion, get it, do you get it?), and he mentions that they're "gifts from the good doctor" and "a reward for his good service" and you think, oh, I've got the lay of this land! Vincent gaslight gatekept girlbossed Harry into being his human guinea pig! And for like five minutes this seems to be the case, but the more we see of Harry the more it starts to seem like, hmm, maybe not? Maybe they are just both fucked? ANYWAY AGAIN, eventually Nick makes a comment about "what Vincent did to Harry", and Vincent is like. "You think this is MY doing? He was like that when I got him! I've been holding him back!" Because it turns out that when Vincent started talking "hypothetical" body modifications with this guy who had just gotten out of top surgery and realized "oh he's kinda fucked up, I bet I can groom him into being my human guinea pig <3" what that same guy was thinking was "oh this doctor is so handsome and fucked up, I should introduce him to the immortal witch queen with a goddess complex that I serve/worship and induct him into my cult so we can be together", which he then did because she gave Vincent the freedom to pursue his fucked up dreams of experimenting on humans (other experiments: guy who turns into a dire wolf, girl who can project people's fears into their brains, cyborg fairy changeling boy). ANYWAY AGAIN AGAIN here are some more things about my nasty boys so you understand what I mean when I say they're Like That(tm):

1. Harry murdered his parents when he was ten, because he had the thought that he probably could and could get away with it, so he wanted to test this. He was correct, and the resulting chain of events (and murders) was what eventually drew the immortal witch queen with a goddess complex's attention to him, because she's always on the lookout for these sorts of kids that she can groom into serving her. Then she actually got to know him and was like "oh he's already fucked up, I don't actually have to do any work here". She has been holding him back most of his adult life because he only kills people when she tells him to and that is definitely a step up from how he was before she got him, when he killed people just cause he felt like it and wanted to see what would happen. 2. He can crawl on ceilings and he loves to do this and sometimes he does it to annoy the rich manbrat that the Queen keeps around to run their social media accounts because tormenting Lyall Knox is his third favorite passtime, after serving his Queen and fucking Vincent on every available surface in the tower until the Queen needs a break and calls in a cleaning crew to hose everything down and she orders them not to touch each other again until she says otherwise, which he's always obedient about because he will do anything she tells him to. Poor Vince getting cucked by his cult leader. He deserves it he's terrible. 3. They, alongside the guy who can turn into a dire wolf, raised the changeling cyborg and the fear projection girl, and were terrible guardians. After the kids get free they talk about him clinging to their ceiling to watch them sleep (and is the reason they sleep in shifts, and share a bed) and while they never get explicit, they will sometimes refer to him wanting to "play" with them which implies some kind of game where torture was the prize. 4. Once took the last pudding cup so one of his coworkers glued him to the ceiling and it's implied he got down by simply peeling off the skin where it was stuck.

5. Wants to be stuffed and mounted and displayed in his Queen's Gallery of Former Minions upon his death. 6. Vincent calls him "Darling" and "Darling Harry" and "My Darling". 7. Speaking of Vincent! The cyborg boy I mentioned? One of only two people who have ever successfully had that process done on them. The other is the aforementioned uncle; Vincent was on the team that did it and it was highly experimental and only succeeded because of the healing magic that his friend gave him that kept him alive after most of his body was crushed. In THIS case it was because the fairy boy's 'old man' had tried to cure of him of his iron weakness by what we will delicately call 'exposure therapy' and caused his organs to start shutting down and some of his limbs to atrophy. Vincent saved his life, but only because his Queen had plans for him and would be mad if he died. But also because he wanted the chance to study changeling organs, so after he replaced the ones that he needed to, he kept the old ones so he could study them. So somewhere in the tower there's just a fridge with this kid's old organs and limbs in it. 8. I cannot stress hard enough that everyone's assumption about Vincent gaslight gatekeep girlbossing Harry into being his human guinea pig WAS ACTUALLY HIS PLAN. This is not a case of him getting accused of something he wouldn't do, he WOULD and WAS GOING TO, it just wasn't NECESSARY because he was ALREADY LIKE THAT. 9. But also. I want to make this clear. They are in love of one another. Vincent would burn the world to the ground to make Harry happy. Harry would kill for Vincent, or more importantly he would NOT kill, if you catch my meaning. He would do anything short of betraying his Queen for Vincent. They love each other so much. 1o. Another of Harry's modifications is the ability to purr, which he got just so Vincent could hold him and pet him and he could purr about it. Also sometimes they fuck on the ceiling. Vincent always gets lightheaded from the bloodrush from being upside down, but anything to indulge his darling. Oh also he gave him the owl's ability to turn its head all the way around. It is never not creepy to watch him do.
