So I was just thinking of this either last night or this morning, but I wonder if the order the Beasts are listed are also the order we’ll encounter them, since Shadow Milk is first in both cases. Which would mean that Mystical Flour is next

And I mean, the ordering of their regions would make sense with that too, considering MF’s region is right next to SM’s

I mean granted, World Exploration doesn’t necessarily follow the geography of the land, but also the Beast Yeast episode selection has the map on it, so maybe it does here

the spiderverse movies, especially across the spiderverse, are perfect stories to analyze through a metafictional lens (for context: metafiction is when a story deliberately draws the audience's attention to its status as a story)

it's almost inevitable for a spider-man story set in a multiverse to build commentary on what it means to be a spider-man story. itsv certainly does it, but atsv doubles down on it tenfold.

throughout all of the film we see characters imposing a narrative on miles, telling him not only what to do but also how to present and even think about himself and his place in the world. they want him to distort his story, make it palatable, to conform to the beats and tropes everyone expects from him both as miles morales and as spider-man.

his guidance counselor wants him to be poster boy for the stereotypical american dream "poor child of immigrants pulls himself up by his bootstraps to become a great scientist" narrative

miguel insists on subjecting every single spider-person to the same traumatic tropes— sorry, "canon events" that (according to his algorithm) define the very nature of a spider-man story. he's like the comics authority of this spider-verse. any divergence miles attempts from the standardized narratives that are thrust upon him is heavily policed and disciplined

both the counselor and miguel are essentially saying the same thing: being who miles is is about sacrifice, and it's about suffering. to prevent that suffering or to acknowledge its absence means erasing his identity respectively as an afrolatino young man and as a superhero

and he is having none of it. this is not a spider-man narrative, this is his spider-man narrative. he's not going to reduce himself to fit into a nice cookie cutter generic marketable version of his own life

and in his literal main character moment he graduates from guy who is doomed by the narrative to Guy Who Dooms The Narrative. he's taken control of his own story. bet in the next movie he's gonna make the whole canon theory unravel. bet he's gonna break canon so hard it explodes.

do you have everything about all of their parents? i for some reason can’t find anything about ichika’s mom, rui’s dad or emu’s mother (i may be blind, pretty sure emu’s mother was mentioned and ichika’s mom was aswell. i know she was mentioned in ichika’s introduction but i haven’t seen her in story yet)

The parents who don’t have physical appearances are generally less important and rarely show up or are mentioned (with a few exceptions) but we do learn some things about them from card stories and such. Here’s some stuff I can remember about the faceless/nameless parents

Ichika’s parents met because they liked the same song. It’s where her name comes from.

We don’t know much about her mother. she's nice though.

Saki and Tsukasa’s mother is a piano teacher. Considering that she’s friends with Harumichi, she probably used to play professionally

We don’t know much about their father, but he has a tendency to spoil Saki (mentioned in Tenma Hinamatsuri)

Honami’s mother is a beautician (mentioned in an area conversation iirc) and her father is a hairstylist (mentioned in Petit SEKAI Episode 6)

We don’t know much about Minori’s parents but they show up in STEP by STEP!. They initially had concerns about her switching courses and being a full-time idol, but after seeing that Minori was prepared and determined to be an idol they let her go ahead

We don't know a huge amount about Haruka and Airi's parents either. Similar to Minori, we know they are nice parents and supportive of their idol careers and that's about it.

Haruka's mother is a nail artist. She was worried about Haruka when she was younger because she rarely smiled.

Kohane's dad is a photographer. He's also the one who bought Count Pearl.

Toya's mother used to bake him cookies a lot and that's why he likes them

She was also very overprotective of him when he was younger and basically wouldn't let him do any recreational games or activities in case he injured himself and couldn't play piano.

She taught Toya to play the violin. I'm assuming that she used to play professionally and that's how she met Harumichi.

We don't really know anything about Emu's mother iirc. She's mentioned occasionally but I don't remember her ever appearing off the top of my head. In Smile of Dreamer it's mentioned that she's abroad doing volunteer work in Cambodia.

Nene and Rui's mothers are good friends due to being neighbours. Nene even used to call Rui's mother "auntie" when they were younger. Her mother recorded a lot of her performances from when she was little.

Beyond that we don't really know anything. I don't remember Nene's dad ever appearing but he is mentioned.

Rui's mother is a biologist, as mentioned in Revival my dream. I have a theory that she mainly works in entomology (study of bugs), or maybe more specifically lepidopterology (study of moths and butterflies), because Rui talks a lot about a moth at one point and has books on butterflies in that event. He talks about some other bugs as well.

His dad is a robotics engineer, also mentioned in Revival my dream. He doesn't actually appear though.

Rui's mother had a very similar background to Rui. She was often called weird and eccentric because of her interest in biology and didn't have any friends until meeting Rui's father, who was really into robotics.

We don't know a huge amount about Mafuyu's father. He does push her to achieve as much as her mother does, but he seems to have limits.

We don't know a lot about Mizuki's parents either, but they are very supportive of them and were worried when they started skipping school

Ludwig: the more famous you get two new groups of people start to appear group number 1 neutral people the people who will only occasionally see a clip of maybe an event that you do or maybe a fucky wuvky that you do easily swayed people and the second group is haters people that just don’t like you… and when those two groups… massively out power the group that likes you any sort of controversy that might start through the echo chamber will seem a lot worse than it is and become like a snowball… I think a similar thing is happening right now (maybe we’ll talk about another day) with Dream because let me tell you he’s got a lot of fucking people who hate him *laughs* it’s different because dream and what he’s done is not overpricing cookies we don’t got to get into that… but this is my running theory

Goddamnit, why did all these leaks have to come out while I was asleep? People are already talking about it on here, I missed my chance!

Anyways, this is late but I might as well give my own two cents, because the leaks seem really interesting and I want to talk about them

So these two seem to be Mercury Knight and Silverdrop (or Silver Bell it seems?), who both seem like guys apparently (I thought Silver Bell at least would be a girl)

Not gonna lie, kind of wish Mercury Knight had a simpler design, he looks like a bit too much. Silver Bell’s not too bad though. Also kind of looks like Lilybell

Anyways, on to the topic I really want to get on, these guys

So first off, I’m pretty sure Shadow Milk has to do with the play thing we saw before, their milk ring thing was on there, also they seem to have a jester motif, which actually, the Truth Soul Jam is…kind of fitting

Also another thing I notice is that they have the shapes of all the Soul Jams, but upside down and the wrong color (aside from Shadow Milk and Eternal Sugar)

I really want to know who these guys are, are they like, past wielders of the Soul Jam? Does that mean the Soul Jams change color when they have a proper new wielder that they bond to? That’d be interesting. Or are they new ones that work for Dark Enchantress that she wants to use the Soul Jam once she steals it?

I don’t know but I’m very excited to see who these guys are

I don't know if I'm being petty, but I like to think that some of Elain's actions toward Azriel are just foreshadowing for Elucien's dynamic. For example, Lucien is very thoughtful about his choices for Elain's gifts, and Elain is invested in the presents she gives to others, including Azriel, even if it's in the form of a prank. This makes me think that receiving gifts will be one of their main love languages.

The scene where Elain called Azriel's scars beautiful could mean that if Lucien still holds any insecurities regarding his scars, it'd be no problem at all for his mate to help him realize how gorgeous he is, inside and out.

And, most of all, the theme of choice would fit so much better in an Elucien romance. I mean, Azriel isn't the one banned from two courts, prohibited to see his mother, exiled in a strange land, the one who has only two humans (who will die in a few decades compared to a fae immortal life) as his only friends, and he's definitely not the one being ignored by his mate and fearful of her rejection. If there's a character who deserves (plot-wise) to be chosen, it's definitely Lucien.

Besides, it would make so much sense with Elain's and Lucien's characters and with the development of their relationship. The fact that Lucien respects her time and space (or his passivity, as some like to call it) allows Elain to make the choice of pursuing the bond when she feels comfortable and secure enough. She'd also have more agency than her sisters in the beginning of their relationships.

But these are just thoughts.

Thank you for your blog and your theories and thoughts. You make me feel hopeful not only for an Elucien's endgame, but also that they really have the chance to get the next book. You have been a light in the end of this three-years-length tunnel.

P.S. I also have a guess that the announcement will be on May 1st. Hope we are right!

Also, the scene where Elain called Az's scars pretty could actually have been Elain calling his siphons pretty because Feyre wasn't sure what she was looking at.

However, I do agree that Elain is going to find Lucien's face devastatingly handsome and the reason for that kind of ties into her mother. Which sounds weird but I'll try to explain.

Her mother made assumptions about her, that she did not dream beyond her pretty dresses and gardens and that she would marry for love and "beauty". So of course, Elain tried to follow those expectations, getting engaged to exactly who her mother would have imagined for her.

I know Elain loved Graysen and probably found him handsome but he seems cookie cutter. Even Feyre said, he was sort of the human ideal of a lord come to sweep a maiden off her feet.

Lucien's face isn't perfect. He's handsome no doubt but he has long hair (no proper mother would approve of that), a scar running down his face and his eye. He is not the image of a baby faced Lord set to inherit his fathers estate someday. He's cruelly beautiful and looks dangerous and, we're all human here, that's going to thrill the "good girls" which everyone assumes Elain to be. Graysen is the kind of guy you have missionary sex with while the lights are out. Lucien is the kind of guy you are willing to do anything, anywhere with and that's probably a bit overwhelming for Elain given her upbringing. Right now, she's still stuck in the past, how she was raised, the kind of guy her mother proclaimed she would marry rather than embracing what lights her up like a pinball machine but I have no doubt once she does break free she's going to make sure he knows exactly how appealing she finds him because of the scars, the hair, the eye. Because of how it all comes together.

And I agree regarding the gifts! I think we see bits of Elain's personality around members of the IC but she never fully blooms, it's like a quick flash then it's gone. I could see Elain and Lucien teasing one another on regular days, silly gifts, sweet little gifts, but the important days I think will be when they reserve the really thoughtful, heartfelt gifts for.

With choice, I wonder if it's so much about that as fight.

(that sounds weird too but I wasn't sure how to word it).

What I mean by that is Lucien was chosen by Jesminda. He was chosen by Tamlin. He was chosen by many friends of which we're told he has many. He was chosen by the LoA as her favorite son. The problem is nobody fought to keep him.

The same with Elain. She was chosen by Graysen, she was "chosen" by Azriel, she was chosen by the chef and servants who wanted to do nice things for her, she was chosen by her many friends. But, none of them fought for her either. When things got hard they walked away.

Lucien and Elain are parallel in that they're just accepting life as it happens to them, trying to accept that when one door closes (to their dismay) and another opens, they roll with it even if they're not happy. They haven't learned to fight for themselves, possibly because they are used to not being fought for and as a result they try not to ask for much because they realize how expendable they are to others.

But in their book, I think they'll push past that to fight for what they do want and they will fight for one another. Lucien has been doing that so far when it comes to Elain. He is the one person who despite the odds did not walk away from her. Graysen gave up after Elain was turned. Az gave up easily, moved right onto feeling calm because of another female, admiring another female, thinking of another females eyes light up, even though Elain was probably upset after his rejection for the simple fact that any rejection hurts. But Lucien though he hasn't pushed her, has quietly fought for her for two years, by showing that he is still loyal to her and only her. And I imagine we'll also see Elain begin to fight for Lucien. Fighting against those who have wronged him, fighting for him to understand that he's not guilty for Jesminda's death or what happened to Feyre, etc.

You didn't want to think, you wanted none of this. You were just a commoner, someone who was born in the poorer parts of the kingdom finally able to open your own small shop with the money you desperately saved.

Never have you dreamed to catch the attention of the emperor. When you thought you will finally live a happy life with your lover you were taken to the palace and became made a consort of a man you cannot look into his eyes.

Gold eyes, many call them the eyes of the royal blood yet you could not help but shiver when you look at them.

The glares of others were suffocating as you were called into the emperor's office, who was looking for you to hold and lean his head on.

It was common knowledge that many consorts here were only there because of politics. There was never any love between the emperor and them, so it was only natural that many grow to despise you chosen by the emperor because he wanted you unlike them, you were given affection and love while they rot in a corner of the palace alone.

You didn't want this, scared and alone with no backing and no one to protect you other than the emperor's adoration towards you. So sweet and loving as the soft kisses he places on your hands and cheeks. Yet possessive when he held your neck as he kissed your lips.

With his affectionate care when he told you stories of the past, you often wondered how old he was… nobody knew actually… numbers ranging from 500 years old to 6000 or even more. He was an old emperor, trusted by many to be the pillar of the land. Rumors surround him about who he was, his age and what he really was, many ideas, many theories yet you always found the rumor about him being a dragon fitting...

There was too much greed in his eyes when he looks at you after all.

You didn't want to be trapped in his arms, his love was too much for you. Too much of a burden, when all you wanted was a peaceful life. So… maybe you thought that it would be a great idea to leave when no one is looking. The words of a consort like you who worried about you and your relationship with the emperor. Someone you thought you grew close to and you thought didn't care much for the emperor’s love. When they told you to run away and that they would help you… you thought maybe you had a chance.

So you went, after much planning, you left the palace in the dead of night with your lover planning to run away from to a country not so far from here then the next. You didnt see gold eye peering out the window watching you leave, but if you did maybe you would have instead begged him for mercy.

But it was too late... too late as the screams of your lover still loud in your ears started to become background sound smaller and smaller as the light started to dim. You fainted there in the cold cage alone with only the cries of anguish from your lover…

Opening your eyes you squint as the light went to your eyes. The basement you have fainted in, a soft bed instead of the cold stone floor. You wondered if everything was a dream when pain shot through your body. “You should not move, you will only hurt yourself more if you do so.”

Your head snapped towards the familiar voice eye widening at who that person was. The man you feared standing right beside your bed looking down on you, the smile that used to grace your presence with was gone instead but a thin line. “Y-your majesty?!” You stuttered your voice still raw from the screaming of last night, your hands started to shiver in fear as you started to remember even more and more.

“It seems that I was too careless around you.” he takes a sit on the side of your bed, ignoring how you flinched as you tried to sit up only for him to place a hand on your shoulder pushing you back down. Placing his hands beside your head, he was on top staring down at you.

You felt trapped in the soft bed, now felt limiting instead of comfortable unable to run away. “To the point that others would try to covet what is mine.”

His words were confusing, and his stare made you hold your breath as he touched your cheek with one hand. “You were almost taken away from my arms.” He spoke “All because of jealousy and envy that consorts had for you. Where you scared my dear?”

You can't say anything, even when he asked questions his eyes dared you to speak a word. He knew… he knew of the envy that others have towards you but didn't see to do something about it. He knew that you were planning on escaping and that he already placed knights to catch you as soon as you thought you were finally free...

He was the one who sent you to the torture chamber and had you forced to watch your lover in chains whipped. It was his form of punishment, the many stories he told you already made you understand who he was.

“Don't cry, dear.” The emperor touched your face wiping the tears in your eyes that you didn't know were there. “They are not here anymore for I have removed them from the palace you are safe now.” He told you gently. “Please…” This was your first word… tears continued to form in your eyes “Please don't hurt them.” Don't kill them.

“My lover is with a heart of gold, very well then I shall give you what you want if you choose to bare half of their sins.” Zhongi spoke, more tears fell from your eyes as you covered them with your hands yet you still nodded for you already knew what he wanted.

Snake Fruit Cookie backstory headcanon

My friends and I once made a theory that Snake Fruit Cookie was the child of Affogato, who he «conjured» with the help of magic and a piece broken off from Dark Cacao. I know this sounds crazy, but listen.

Snake Fruit always dreamed of becoming a dragon, like those they were forced to bow before their entire life. Actually, this is probably why they went to serve Longan in the first place. But when they eventually managed to turn into a dragon, their appearance looked differently: Ananas, Lotus and Pitaya (I couldn't find Lychee, but I think they looked the same) were built, more or less, as we are used to seeing them in Western folklore – like lizards.

Snake Fruit, on the other hand, seemed to look more like a snake, they didn't have the wings or even the body of a dinosaur, and, nevertheless, they were signed as «Snake Fruit Dragon».

What does it mean?

Well, if you look closely, you'll see that they are depicted as a stereotypical Oreo dragon from the Dark Cacao Kingdom. I don’t think that if it had depended on them, they wouldn't have taken on the appearance that they saw in the faces of their masters – which means that they acquired such an appearance due to circumstances beyond their control. I'm making the simplest bet possible: they already were like this, it was in their nature to become a dragon that looked like this.

Because Snake Fruit themselves are not from this region. They are from a place where serpentine dragons are reflected in culture (tapestry and statues) and folklore (the tale of dragons that king Dark Cacao cut down, creating a cycle of day and night).

Now what does their supposed kinship has to do with it? Well, eh, I just wanted to somehow connect these two restless souls with too similar destinies, but different ages (I always presumed Affogato is old for some reason): both Affogato and Snake Fruit managed to achieve their goals, but failed to keep them. I can’t say anything about their external resemblance to any of them – based on their appearance, I can rather assume that this is Affogato who's the second parent of Dark Choco, but that’s not the point.

Based on some joking Twitter posts, we've concluded that most likely Choco's mother is White Lily, who created him based on her designs and research (with some help from Dark Cacao, of course), but what happened to her notes when she left to Beast Yeast? They didn't just disappear, did they? So, I came to the conclusion that no, they didn't – which Affogato could have taken advantage of.

Affogato couldn't have been unaware of the circumstances under which Prince Dark Choco was exiled: it might have occurred to him at some point to curry favor with the king by using Lily's notes to create a new heir (possibly even secretly taking a piece from him, resulting in unequal parts). No relations are implied here though: in Cookie Run, one of the semi-«official» methods of reproduction involves breaking off two pieces of dough from the parents to, when combined, create a new cookie.

He didn't take into account, though, that his half ended up disproportionately larger than Cacao's: baby Snake Fruit turned out to be almost a copy of Affogato, and he began to fear that the king simply wouldn't believe him. Add to that Cacao's deteriorating condition due to Affogato's control magic, and we have a deadlock situation: the resulting child needed to be protected.

Affogato could have known that the dragon gene might reveal in Snake Fruit one day. Considering that he himself was a mixture of Coffee Tribe and Milk Tribe residents, and the resulting child clearly reflected his Milk ancestors, it was safe to assume that Dark Cacao's ancestors would eventually manifest themselves too. Keeping this in mind, the idea came to him to send the child far away to Longan, the Dragon Master, to keep them away from harm. They would raise them, nurture them in their home, and perhaps something worthwhile would come out of them, while Affogato figured out how to explain their existence to the king.

Well, along with the genes of Affogato's ancestors, Snake Fruit inherited his nasty character and penchant for intrigue – unwittingly following in the footsteps of one of their parents, becoming an advisor and being cast down for it into the abyss. Hopefully, their body will wash up on the shores of the continent, where their newfound majesties can be picked up by kind people: someone must ultimately look after the king while Caramel Arrow is busy defending the kingdom, and Dark Choco hasn't come to his senses yet.

Literally the only thing that doesn't fit into this theory is Longan themselves: firstly, their dragon appearance somewhat resembles Snake Fruit's dragon form. There's no reason to assume that Longan has any connection to the Dark Cacao Kingdom (unless Snake Fruit hadn't seen their dragon form before). And secondly, Longan... well, they're chauvinist – they wouldn't accept a regular cookie into their service, even if kings were to ask them to. In that case, Affogato would have to persuade the dragons that the child is a hundred percent dragon, just not awakened yet (and by the time it became clear that it's more cookie than dragon, they would have gotten used to their service and simply mockingly called them «Snake»).

Which is how I'm treating them now. That idea only came via the first theory that our Oyster was the one who done did betray BP. Which I didn't believe even before the dreams event because of 1- Oyster's asking of Caviar to go find out why shit was disappearing in Duskgloom in the first place. I mean, if she knew her personally, why ask in the first place? And 2- Caviar mentioned seeing different eras of oyster ships littering her terf. not to mention her Bio, that I have read, stated her wrath was over a century old. So bugger off with that. And I'll have them know I have read her bio (and caviar's) AND their story event thingies and more, because I do research before I go obsessing! Even if I have never (and will never) play the game. And I want Black pearl to be happy again because that poor bitch has been through a lot- And I DO treat BP like a sea beast, not strictly a mermaid. Then again, aren't mermaids and sirens kinda the same thing just different moral alignment?
