The Martyr of Solway
this painting by John Everett Millais portrays the 18 year old, Margaret Wilson, who lost her life during the Scottish Presbyterian Movement.
opinion: this is one of the most provoking historical paintings that I have seen related to Scotland's fight against England and the power of religion in these wars. She was drowned slowly for refusing to swear fealty to James II of England and renounce her religion.
always remember never forget the two Margarets that lost their lives and never gave up their rights nor the cause at hand

decided to transfer taylor’s playlists over into my own playlists so i could make my own descriptions using linda pastan’s poem “the five stages of grief” and art pieces throughout history as the covers
1. denial ; i love you, it’s ruining my life represented by “courage, anxiety, and despair: watching the battle”, james sant, 1850
2. anger ; you don’t get to tell me about sad represented by “fallen angel”, alexander cabanel, 1847
3. bargaining ; am i allowed to cry? represented by “the last day of pompeii”, karl brullov, 1833
4. depression ; old habits die screaming represented by “the martyr of the solway”, john everett millais, 1871
5. acceptance ; i can do it with a broken heart represented by “resting”, victor gilbert, 1890

A woman, so lost in the rules of my being…
Lately, I don’t think anyone have a choice really. Especially us women, cause the moment we blink is the moment everyone else decides to take a bite of our rights and if its taste doesn’t satisfy them…
Well, that’s when they decide we don’t get any…
For so long I felt welcomed, because i was stripped of knowledge.
Basics were privilege, ignorance was a bless.
I used to dream about being a mother, i still do… And I don’t know, if this dream belongs to me
Or all the women, that life buried in me.
I dream about versions of myself that i exiled long ago. I dream of the reincarnation of my madness.
About purifying my soul, by sacrificing rage.
Maybe my temporal lobe too ?
A REM phase dream with no way back to.
Emotional attachment, a phone call Two kids, friends and love.
Nothing could be further from the truth…
