In the begging, everything was a little bit awkward. Sweet, but awkward. Of course, that is to be expected when someone first starts dating, and three people at that! But alas, you all worked through all of the nervousness and became even closer than before!

Sometimes, being in a relationship with three people can be a bit chaotic, but luckily, you’re all masters of talking things out. Trust is one of the most important things in a relationship you know!

Luz and Amity has sort of a “sun and moon” thing going on, with you being their eclipse to balance it all out. Perfect relationship in every way!

When it comes to comfort, these girls are the best! First of all, they are both such good listeners and they give the best advice when you need it. Although, sometimes people don’t really want advice or logic when their feeling blue, and in that case, you’re girlfriends are ready with as much cuddles and words of affirmation as you need! Supportive gfs <3

Speaking of cuddles, Luz and Amity both give such good hugs, their heavenly fr. Even though Amity can sometimes be a bit awkward about it (her body just goes stiff as a board), it’s always so wholesome and sweet. Usually, Luz is the big spoon with either you or Amity in the middle, or you guys are all just huddled up in one big messy pile. Eda and King always finds it so adorable whenever you guys fall asleep together on the couch, and you can trust that they take a bunch of pictures too.

Amity often gets really flustered around you and Luz, which usually results in a lot of teasing. Her tomato face can just be too cute sometimes, and trust me, you get to se it A LOT!

Luz however doesn’t get flustered as much as Amity, but it’s still easy to get a stunned expression and red tinted cheeks out of her. You just gotta know what to say.

Now, when it comes to the rest of the gang, they all support you guys so much! They think it’s so cool that you guys have a relationship, and even though they tease you about it from time to time (especially Eda, while Hunter mostly gets annoyed from all your lovey dovey stuff), they truly think that what you guys have is the sweetest thing ever. Oh and Hooty is your biggest fangirl, I’m not even joking.

Luz and Amity can be protective AF! Don’t get me wrong, they don’t really go around and get jealous of everything and stuff, but if anyone, witch or human, says anything to upset their girl, they’re really gonna get it.

Kisses with these two are usually fast and sweet.

Luz normally just goes in for a quick peck before turning away with pink tinted cheeks and a small smile, acting like nothing happened.

Amity on the other hand looks at you a bit before slowly leaning in. Afterward, she quickly retrieves, face completely burning up and her eyes as wide as plates. (Sort of like when she kissed Luz’s cheek in that one episode)

These girls are absolute suckers for hugs n’ kisses, and especially when they’re from you~

You guys are the most dorky couple EVER! Your all so silly, it’s adorable honestly.

Luz definitely loves picking her two girls up. She might say she has weak nerd arms, but we’ve all seen that that’s not true. There has been moments when she just comes up behind you, and with a little “aaand scoop!” she simply swipes you off of the ground while giggling.

I feel like you all give off kinda like a summerly girl in red vibe.

You and your girlfriends DEFINITELY have sleepovers and Azura movie nights! (I also said this in my Amity fic, haha)

Praise is one of the main factors of your relationship. These girl got TRAUMA and since you probably also got some as well (taken in perspective that the whole cast of this show have and does go through a lot), praise and words of affirmation/encouragement is super important to them.

When you got sent to the human realm, it was a hard time for everyone, but with the love and support from each other, you all managed to make the best of it and have a wonderful time together.

Camilla absolutely loves you and Amity so much, she is such a sweetheart!!

After some quality time spent in the human realm, you and the others, along with Camilla, finally managed to return to the Boiling Isles. And as we all know, even more challenges were lying ahead.

When things seemed dark, you, Luz and Amity always stuck together, and supported each other the whole way, never ever letting you or each other feel like they were alone in this.

In the end, you all helped each other so much with developing as a person! With all of the love and encouragement, everything turned out just fine, and these girls couldn’t be happier! Ever since this whole crazy adventure started, you’ve all gotten so much closer together, and really formed a special bond. To be able to be in a relationship with you like this is the best things to have happened to either Luz or Amity, and they never want to let that go in the hopes to someday be able to put a ring on it.

Beta Huntlow Headcanons

*in the "start of season 3" phase, human realm, same house and shared traumas

The two would both have the vibe "it's hard to tell if they applied eyeliner or just have dark circles under their eyes", two people who sleep late (WHEN they sleep) and wake up very early. I like to imagine them being the last ones in the house awake and arguing that the other one should go sleep, little hypocrites more concerned with the health of others than with their own

They study wild magic together and test glyphs and techniques on each other cause they need testing to learn, so it's a controlled and platonic fight (visualize, just VISUALIZE a "parallel" of Lumity scene of the Grom dance but it's Huntlow just having fun being chaotic among magic explosions OR putting into practice what they trained against some unlucky)

"You have problems with authorities and rules too? Woah, we have so much in common..." they took the expression partners in crime a little too seriously 😰 a common dialogue would be "do ya wanna rob a store today?" and the other responds "we already did that yesterday, I wanna get out of routine, let's try a bank?" not ironically

For RPG people, I think the moral alignments of them would be in the Neutral spectrum, maybe him as Lawful Neutral and she as True Neutral, I'm indecisive, maybe both Chaotic Neutral????

Aaaand for astrological people I think they would be a Virgo and a Scorpio... I just don't know who would be which lol

These two have a hospital drama/police investigation series that they watch together and they're really into it, It's TREASON to watch one episode without the other

Sometimes they pretend to be a couple to strangers 'cause they think it's so funny, and they tend to do this a lot since they hang out together frequently

Arm wrestling? Just an excuse for them to hold hands!!!! But when they start competing in anything a third person (usually Gus) has to step in to stop them from overdo. It's not about winning, it's about making the other admit defeat

There's frequent romantic tension in moments that were theoretically supposed to be threatening and it's frustrating how many times they come close to kissing but interruptions at the wrong time get in the way, that old cliché

Talking about ✨love language✨: Willow offers is acts of service and what she likes to receive/share is quality time. Hunter's love language offered is giving gifts and what he likes to receive are words of affirmation. Then it happens like:

"hey, Will! to thank you for yesterday I bought – nah, I stole – to you... industrialized cookies that you like..!"

"don't call me- wait, cookies? huh, you're the best dork ever, let's eat that while watching TV?"

"yeah, of course, let's see some tragedies in the news, it'll be fun... by the way, am I really 'the best dork'? cuz I'll brag about it later"

Percabeth Energy: True love, made for each other, perfection, flawless, wholesome, zero bad vibes (Note: I planned to leave this part empty, but changed my mind when I saw these two ships)

Julerose is like a star in the void. In a show full of weirdness, these two are proof that an unproblematic relationship trumps all! For that, I give them the honor of Percabeth energy.

Tom and Sabine are just straight Julerose with the added bonus that Tom kicked his racist dad to curb and never looked back. Of only Marinette never found that guy again.

Lumity Energy: Full love, realistic problems but like not in an abusive way, the only reason these ships aren't giving Percabeth is because the show ruined them, yes that is what I'm going with, No I don't think Lumity is bad the name is just a joke

Alya x Marinette is a goated ship, fight me! "bUt WhAt AbOuT lIlA", everyone is an idiot in those episodes! Forgot Lila and remember that Marinette and Alya have a very supportive relationship that's mutual. Although, I couldn't completely forget about Lila which is why it's down here.

Lukanette was robbed. Luka x Adrien was also robbed.

So I don't dislike the gay boys but that one time Nathaniel ripped Marc's sketchbook just sticks in my head even tho he said sorry. It's not even in character for Nathaniel to do that! Oof. Still goated in the sauce.

I used to hate Marichat but then it went on to become the best side of the love square because it got so little focus?! More is less, and Elation is better than three thirds of the love square episodes.

Marinette and Kagami used to be such a wholesome relationship but then season 5 kept dragging out Kagami's kiddie pool sized jealousy for bad Lila episodes. At least I can pretend they don't exist.

Nooro and his only friend in the world. And now they've been separated 😭

BMBLB Energy: Not half bad, just not for me, may or may not be canon/developed well, I'm not criticizing BLBMB its just a joke

Adrien x Juleka could be cute, but it's one of those things that you have to accept will never be canon or even get episodes for it.

All of the other Lovesquare ships got dropped down here because of Arc Fatigue. Ladrien didn't even get a kiss!

Marinette and Marc got better development in Reverser than Nathaniel and Marc did.

Ivan and Mylene wishes they could be the straight version of Julerose. These two are just weirdly codependent to the point that Ivan's last focus episode was like... season 1?

The Forbidden Stacks of the library in TOH puts me in throes. The books inside aren't even preserved if a zombie mouse can have a full-on buffet with them (going slightly off the rails "echo mouse" is a stupid name for something that doesn't absorb sound, I refuse to call it that). What's the point? What other history is lost because you'll let zombie-mice into the section versus employees/volunteers that aren't just gonna float around for the sake of being spooky? Why are they even forbidden when the section is smack-dab in the middle of the library and access-cards are evidently universal, you're just working off an honor system that people won't abuse accessibility? I guess that explains the zombie-mice. Or was it just more important for the writers to have a quick set-up for Lumity no matter how horribly applied the rules are?

The Forbidden Stacks could EASILY be improved if the writers had Amity work the section as a kind of promotion since she already has access, I could see a full burst of character development if her role was to ensure no one gets access to Philip's journal by orders of Belos himself, make her question why the journal itself is forbidden and if blindly following Belos' regime is worth being left in the dark. It would as be GREAT Lumity fuel if both sides had to choose between pleasing the other or preserving their own goals.

Now I've put myself in throes on how quickly all that could be adjusted. A devil's advocate should have been hired for the writing team LMAO.

So the forbidden section of a library in most fantasy media is a pretty common trope. Harry Potter wasn't the first to have something like it and The Owl House won't be the last. But... Well, I actually never gave it that much thought because it very much so does the job of the trope, give characters a place they're not supposed to with clear intentions on forbidden knowledge, but... I think this post very easily explains why the vibe of The Owl House is wrong for a fantasy show. I talked about this in general as of late but let's interrogate your complaints. Not to say your complaints aren't valid but it's the sort of thing that as a content creator is important to do. When someone tells you they'd rather have seen X thing be done in Y way, what are they really asking for? Tears of the Kingdom's fuse mechanic is a great showing of this as it fixed the breakable weapons for a lot of people while still allowing weaponry and the like to be a reward for exploration and combat, something that just removing the system would have lost. Instead, they made it so you can personalize your arsenal and it's MUCH harder to end a fight with simply a worse inventory than when you began (amongst a BILLION other great things about the fuse mechanic).

So what are the complaints here? A lot of them are what most would consider nitpicks. A story is allowed contrivances so as to FUNCTION and that's where suspension of disbelief comes into play. Something about the forbidden section broke your suspension of disbelief though. What was it?

Well, looking at them, my personal conclusion would be simple: It doesn't feel forbidden. It has a huge ass door that dominates one of the libraries walls, it comes across from how it looks to be SEVERAL times larger than the base library seeing as the base library only has like two floors, and yeah, it's not exactly hard to reach. Lumity go in in BROAD DAYLIGHT. There are also no traps, no detection systems, or... Anything to stop someone who has slipped inside from doing as they please, including animals. Like... While Amity is being scolded, is there just NOTHING watching the forbidden knowledge and only a weak magical lock? That doesn't really give the feeling of it being forbidden, does it?

And this isn't a new problem for The Owl House. They'll present a fantasy trope and then so half ass it that it barely feels like the trope. In fact, just tropes in general, hence the common complaint that Lumity is NOT enemies to lovers despite the setup because they spend almost no time being enemies. That's discarded for what is necessary for the plot point of Lumity.

But some people might yell at me about the Shortening, despite this being S2A which probably got minimal changes due to how production works, so could this have been done better without significant time changes?

...Yes. By making them physically act like they're in a place they're not supposed to be. You don't even really have to change the substance of what the two are talking about (which is hardly about the forbidden section). The two spend almost all their time there just laying or standing around. They effectively seem to be just in a library with bad lighting judging by their actions, posture, etc. like that, not helped by the two mostly focusing on each other than anything to do with the library. This de-emphasizes the library and the danger which is VERY common in The Owl House and is part of why it's such a shit adventure show.

Tweak their tones of voice so that they sound more like they're trying not to focus on how they're breaking the rules. Make their conversation travel while Amity points at places on the floor or the wall and both respectively either avoid or seek out those places. You don't even need to really up the animation here except for having them move at all because you don't need to show the magic traps and the like so long as you get the vibe right.

Better yet, this movement could also allow for more environmental storytelling and foreshadowing. They could pass by archived creatures, kept their for study and school project purposes but too dangerous to have just anyone interacting with, and one cage is broken open. Or the lid is slipped off and a sleeping echo mouse is sleeping within it. That way, the mouse didn't just slip in, it probably broke out recently and you just have to suspend disbelief that it chose the journal for its first meal.

This isn't even only doable in animation. You could do this in writing and have their actions and the background be the flavor that's helping punctuate and break up the conversation. In writing though, that WOULD add time and admittedly part of what gives my stuff a more brisk feeling is that unless it's important, I let the background be filled in with a mood and by the reader much more than vivid description. TOH IS animated though so having the backgrounds and the like help with the storytelling, or even just the movements of the characters, is part of how you tell a story in animation.

And yes, animation is expensive. My counterpoint to that is The Ghost and Molly McGee exists and its animation very commonly blows TOH out of the water with how expressive, dynamic, bizarre and HOW MUCH OF IT there is except for TOH's big ticket fights. I cannot believe that they could not do a simple walking sequence with scrolling backgrounds instead of more anime inspired "Okay, stop, freeze, talk, go," moments, especially in order to actually sell the fact that they're in a fantasy story.

There are other, smaller things like making it a smaller, metal door that requires multiple keys to be opened that are kept in the office that Amity normally would need to check out but isn't so that Luz isn't known to go back there. Admittedly, you could also actually make the librarian scary and rude. Make him more serious as to explain why Amity didn't just talk to the librarian because I've talked before about how it trying to be 'clever' (with the same joke its done how many times even by then of "Oh, you're such a fool to think it was actually dangerous or spooky") kind of makes the episode make no sense in retrospect.

And, most importantly, none of these changes would require a lot of time in the episode. Maybe a little more, just to have Amity have a line about a pressure plate or the like, but not much. The real difference is partially the difference between Amphibia and The Owl House because when the sleepover episode happens, the ghosts aren't the only reason that the place feels forbidden. It feels forgotten and creepy and they walk and talk to help show this in the posture the characters, the tones of voice they have, stuff like that. Amphibia enjoys its genre and concepts though while The Owl House CONSTANTLY feels like it would really rather just be a slice of life school series and so doesn't care about the fantasy or adventure elements.

And, well, Looking Glass Ruins is a good episode to highlight that. They murder illusion magic, they make glyphs EXTREMELY OP in it in ways that make no sense and make you wonder why the whole cast isn't adopting them, magical amplification should still ABSOLUTELY affect illusion magic so as to make it bigger or more believable, etc. like that even if it doesn't have a physical effect, etc. like that. But instead, the magic is warped and twisted and simply used for a trope that probably could have been done without the magic.

But like making the forbidden section incredibly boring and mostly just a background more than anything else and an excuse to get Amity in trouble... It all just feels like justification to make the concept they wanted without having to put in the effort.

Without caring. And an audience can feel when a writer doesn't care about something.

Maybe it’s just me, I love Gus and Matt together but I don’t want them to be canon, the show got shortened so we lost a lot of their relationship development, plus there’s a lot of good canon pairings in the show already and them two randomly being canon could give off “pair the spare” vibes and I hate that trope because of ananormativity and I think a benefit of them not being endgame is that we can make content of them for fun without relying on the show!

I’m glad you mentioned this because it’s been on my mind lately. I’ve seen this opinion around a lot so you’re definitely not alone anon. I get it (or at least I think I do), it would seem kinda out of nowhere for them to get together but I feel like they could give us a blush or some other hint that there’s something there y’know? And while I don’t like the pair the spare trope either there’s a lot of subtext (lumity parallels, hints that they’ve spent time together offscreen, etc.) that point at them getting together so I feel like it would be kind of a disappointment to those of us who have made those connections. At the very least I hope they give us a confirmation that they’re close as friends <3

I was thinking about you post about fankids, and honestly THE ONLY ONES I CAN IMAGINE HAVING KIDS is Luz and Amity, they'd be such good mommas, and they'd have several kids :) for some reason, I know Willow and Hunter could be good with kids, but idk they just don't give me the vibe of having lots of kids. if they DO THOUGH, probably only one or two. and DEFINITELY not Gus and Matt either

oh yeah, these two are gonna keep the legacy going lol!! i love how most of Lumity fankids are named after Azura btw, that's very in character for them <3

i'm not 100% sure for Huntlow, sometimes i do see them having kids and other times not, but in the end i think you're right; if they do end up having kids, they're not gonna have a lot of them

Haha yessss I love that you recommended TDP! I’ve actually seen it already and I really enjoyed the first three seasons. Rayla x Callum is such an adorable enemies to friends to lovers ship and of course I loveee Amaya x Janai 🥰 I really appreciate all of the LGBTQ+ rep in the show in general.

Sadly, idk what happened (maybe it was the long hiatus?), but seasons 4 and 5 were a huge downgrade from seasons 1-3 in my opinion. There have been so many odd writing choices, especially for Callum and Rayla as characters, and while I appreciate how dark the last season could get, it oftentimes felt like tonal whiplash due to the amount of silliness that would precede certain episodes/scenes. There’s just not a great tonal balance anymore, and the humor has felt off. I also feel like the animation doesn’t have as much life and expression in it as it used to?

Idk, I’m hoping the next two seasons will be better, because I miss the overall vibe of TDP s1-3. I’d be curious to hear what you think of the most recent seasons! :)

P.S. I reallyyyy want them to give Soren a bf. It’s what he deserves. Perhaps Corvus? 👀

The Owl House, Season 2, Episode 18, "Labyrinth Runners," First Impressions!

Gus, m’boy, I underestimated you.

So it’s been no secret that Willow and Gus have really gotten the short end of the stick this season. They formed a vital part of season 1, and they still are more than welcome, but let’s face it: once Amity started crushing and Hunter got introduced, we had a new main trio to focus on. Willow and Gus are fine, don’t get me wrong, but when stacked up against two redeemed rivals, one of which became a sapphic love interest and the other exuding both Zuko energy and sibling vibes, they had no chance. They’re the school friends now. They’ll pop in when they can, but it was clear that they were no longer a priority.

Even their solo outings this season really hammered this home. Gus’s little adventure was…fine. It was fun, enjoyed that illusion stuff and all, but the B-plot had that Lumity kiss. My boy had no chance.

And I still hold that Willow’s episode was the weakest one this season, sorry.

But here we have a second Gus episode, one that has a strong Hunter focus and that sees the long-awaited return of Amity, and is the first episode to not feature Luz, Eda, or King at all…

And it’s one of the best episodes yet.

Yeah, this kicked all sorts of ass. And it did it while still keeping Gus as the focus! Yes, Hunter was kind of the deuteragonist, but it still was very much a Gus episode, exploring his own inner insecurities and issues.

Now, the easy route would be to have him not be strong and feel bad about that, but as it turns out, he has a different problem, in that he is actually very skilled with illusion magic and always has been, but because of that people have made a habit of using him, of pretending to be his friend just to get ahead, which has given him real trust issues that he masks with his showman nature. Honestly, for a long time Willow’s been his only real friend, who was also a talented witch but was underperforming by being forced into a track that she wasn’t suited for. But even though Gus has since made real friends and is doing very well, all that hurt still gnaws at him. He's scared of being tricked, so when his own coven head pulled that trick, that was his trigger.

Actually, can we talk about that little shit for a moment? Because Adrian was a lot of fun. I love how every coven head so far is just a different brand of dramatic. Here we have an evil primadonna director! Yeah, I like this guy, and want to see more of him.

Speaking of bad guys, I also appreciate the effort made to make Belos’s flunkies distinct from one another. Normally they’re sort of copy/paste with those uniforms and masks, but here you can see height and body differences, different coven magic at work, and little things like protruding tails and stuff like that. Also, you go, Severine! You don’t have to take that bullshit!

But anyway, given how much I like weird, cerebral stuff, Gus projecting his inner insecurities into a labyrinth that covers the whole school was right up my alley. And his final breakdown was the right kind of spicy drama.

I have to say though, I didn’t see the duo of Hunter and Gus coming. It did fit though, as they both need guy friends in their lives. Poor Hunter is just going through it. It says something that the school was the only place he could think of to run to, as it’s literally the only place in the Boiling Isles he has any kind of positive connection to. Good thing too, because Gus was the right kind of supportive friend he needed, someone who would genuinely try to reach out to him just out of empathy. He still really needs therapy though. I’m glad that he has an actual support system now that the whole school’s adopted him. And hey, give it up for Bump as principal of the year!

Also, can I just say how funny it was that after having him aggressively shipped with both of the twins, we finally get an interaction between them and him, and it’s just them insulting him and asking if he’s ever sneezed with his helmet on. Bless.

Plus, dude’s known Willow for like two weeks, but he still knew the fake when he saw it. Why? Because Willow could easily kick his ass, and they both know it! So of course she wouldn’t be afraid of him!

If I have one complaint, it’s that I didn’t care for how Willow and Amity’s little thing resolved. At first I was excited. Like, okay, they’re finally addressing the tension lingering between the two! And Amity’s still unknowingly being condescending toward Willow! Good stuff! But to have it just be that Amity is afraid of losing Willow again and is thus overprotective is just kind of…eh. I would’ve preferred her to wrestle with realizing that she still unconsciously looks down on Willow after having bullied her for so long. Like, okay, they’re friends again, and Amity is trying hard to be a better person, but she still has her deeply ingrained prejudices to deal with. I just feel that would’ve made for a better resolution.

That aside, this was still a killer episode. And now Hexside knows the truth about the Day of Unity, and from the sound of things, the Owl House denizens are on the run.

to be fair, the potential of huntlow is boring and not compelling from a character or story arc perspective, but lumity is also incredibly boring and not particularly compelling in either of those ways as well, so. at least they're consistent

agreed. both ships were well-telegraphed in that you could definitely tell both parties are interested in each other romantically, have things in common, enjoy each other's company and got to spend time getting to know each other and letting their feelings evolve before getting together. that's something tons of writers don't bother to do when they write romances, so it's definitely Not Nothing.

the vibe hunlow and lumity give me is that they're cute little high school training wheels relationships that will quietly simmer back into friendship by the time they graduate. which would have been fine, had far more tantalizing alternate connections not been dangled right in front of us and then denied for the sake of the cute but boring options.

that's the issue: just the possibility of lunter and amillow ends up overshadowing the canon pairings themselves. like, why are we doing this when that is so much stronger? the training wheels are fun, but the goal should always be the big kid bike. if you've shown you can ride it, why are you still stuck with the training wheels?

the frustration comes from it being a big missed opportunity. toh were So Close to nailing it by carefully building up two Main Couples consisting of those four characters. it was the right move, but they just mixed up who should've been with who. it's just odd that such a big mistake happened to such an otherwise tightly written and intentional aspect of the show.

favorite character:

Edalyn Clawthorne, aka Eda the Owl Lady. It always goes back to her. She's this amazing character with such a good sense of humor and interesting personality. We need more characters like her, who show us that older women can be smart and strong and powerful (and, yes, super hot). I also know her story is very important to people with chroninc ilness or mental illness or dissabilities. I don't personally have something like that but I do really relate to her in other ways.

least favorite character:

Oh, Boscha. Definetly Boscha. She's just annoying and boring. Like, yeah I get it, we needed a bully character that wasn't like Amity and wouldn't want to become friends with the other kids because a bully character can facilitate stories like WILW and OUAS and MLC more easily. And like, her design looks good. But we could never see her again and I would not miss her at all.

Every time she talks I just want her to shut up. Why are people giving Hunter grief? she's the one with the annoying voice. I think some people do want Boscha to become a nicer person and grow and mature and, I mean, she's 15. She's still very young, she could eventually grow up into a better person with time. But I'm not as interested in seeing her grow as I was with Amity or Sasha Waybright.

brOTP:

Oh, I'm having a hard time choosing. I really like Luz and King because they remind me of myself and my little brother.

I also love Hunter and Luz because I like that sort of friendship where two people constantly make fun of each other and annoy and insult each other but it's never with bad intentions. Like, they give each other a hard time but, in the end, you know it's their way of showing they care for each other. And I think it's super sweet how Luz went and sacrificed herself for Hunter in CATH. I understand why people ship it, even though I choose to see them as platonic friends.

OTP:

Raine and Eda, aka Raeda. They have such a rich and powerful story together. Their emotional scenes always get to me so bad. They always make me feel the angst and the joy and the EVERYTHING. I get so excited whenever I see them interact. I really hope they get their well-deserved happy ending, because Idk what I'd do with myself if they didn't. Also, Eda's Requiem/Raine's Rhapsody is such a beautiful song.

OT3:

I don't really have any poly ships for this fandom, unlike with Amphibia or Shera or STVFOE, all of my ships are just 2 people. I don't really see any characters in a polyamorous relationship. Tho I support the fans who do.

I guess the closest thing I have to an OT3 is the Emerald Trio (Hunter, Willow and Gus). But not with Gus as part of the relationship, I like Huntlow as a ship by itself. More like, their trio of friendship. More like, as much as Hunter and Willow are already a couple by themselves, their friendship with Gus is a big piece of their relationship. Like, their mutual friendship with Gus is something that makes them more dynamic as a couple. And they totally invite him to come with on most of their dates. He's the third wheel but he's happy about it.

NOTP:

Boscha and Willow, aka Boschlow. Mostly because I don't like Boscha as a character, like I said before.

Like, I understand why people ship it; it kinda has an Enemies to Lovers vibe. Like, it might remind some people of Early Season 1 Lumity. The difference between Boschlow and Lumity however, Luz and Amity were more rivals than bully/bullying victim. Like, as much as Amity gave Luz a hard time, Luz also went out of her way to annoy Amity; it was a mutual rivalry. Whereas, Boscha always attacked Willow unprovoked. Willow just wanted to be left alone and Boscha kept bothering her. Unlike with Lumity, where they both annoyed each other.

Also, Boscha is shown to be a constant bully throughout Willow's whole childhood. Like, it seems she kept bothering her for years and years. That's a long time of built-up resentment and maybe even trauma, it's hard to take that and try to build a relationship from it. (Similar to how it took a long time for Willow to forgive Amity and be her friend again). Unlike Lumity, where their rivalry was short-lived so they didn't really have that much built-up resentment to deconstruct before getting to the Friends to Lovers portion.

Before Huntlow was presented to me as the beautiful ship that it is, I used to ship Willow with Skara (Skarlow). Because Skara was never really a bully to Willow, she was more Boscha's lackey and it looked like she might have a good heart and a good sense of humor under her blind loyalty to Boscha. Low and behold, it turns out I was right! She does have a good heart! Skara seems like a very sweet girl. And I support people who continue to like Skarlow.

favorite storyline:

Aww, maaaaan. So hard to choose. They’re all sooooo gooooood.

Maybe Eda’s character arc going from “I keep everyone at a distance, I don’t make connections, I don’t want a family” to “I AM EVERYONE’S MAMA! I HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND I WILL ADOPT 3 MORE IF LEFT TO MY OWN DEVICES!”. Like, it’s more complex than that. Something something emotional vulnerability something something allowing yourself to open your heart to people.

And Hunter’s character arc of him learning Philip is a bad dude and slowly easing his way to rebellion. Something about him going from “Human (derogatory)” to “Luz (affectionate)” really hits me where I live, I’m not really sure why. I don’t know if it’s a redemption arc because I never saw him as a villain but it’s definetly an improvement arc. And I feel like it could’ve been done better with more time but.... you know, Godspeed.

least favorite storyline:

I don’t know....... the Bat Queen maybe? I don’t dislike her! she’s fine! I just.... you know. Now that we’re going godspeed and we don’t have time for this... that’s it, we don’t have time for this. I don’t care who the Bat Queen’s owner was, we don’t have time for that! I don’t wanna spend what precious time we have with the Bat Queen that we could be spending with the kids.

Also, we haven’t really seen it yet so it doesn’t count but.... the fact that Belos is not 100% dead. I despise that with every fiber of my being. I want him to be dead so badly. I don’t wanna spend a single second on Philip anymore. I just want him dead. And I have faith that the crew knows what they’re doing but just.... I would’ve been so happy if The Collector flicking him had been it. Like I was so relieved when The Collector tagged him, I was like “FINALLY”. And now it looks like he’s coming back and I’m like “WHY WON’T YOU STAY DEAD”.

Also, the fact that Belos survived The Collector trying to kill him makes me feel like it makes The Collector less scary. If he tried to kill someone and they survived, then he’s not as scary anymore. Ya feel?

what I wish had happened but didn’t:

I guess this could still happen but it probably won’t. I really wanted to hear Raine sing. Like, I want to hear all the characters sing because they all have really beautiful speaking voices so logic dictates that, if they have a beautiful speaking voice, they’ll have a good singing voice too. But especially Raine because... you know, Bard.

And we probably won’t get that. Not just because ain’t got no time. But also because I know that Dana Terrace doesn’t like musicals so she would never write a musical episode or even just throw me a bone of a single scene to let me hear my angels sing. Just let the theater kid breathe please.

what happened that I wish hadn’t:

I don't know if I can think of anything that I wish hadn't happened. I don't really have any thoughts on that front.

Okay, Hear me out..

I don't wanna make fun of Lumity shippers even I was a Lumity shipper myself. Just for the people who see Luz and Hunter calling them out as siblings as an insertion might be an underlying issue perhaps (their sibling energy radiates the heck out of me I'm afraid of entering to get hyped whether I see them as siblings for a good reason and hiding myself bcoz I just ship these two dorks and somebody will be upset or forcing me to think that they are having that sibling dynamic which scares me).

In some ways, I don't find the siblings dynamic about them but it's kinda happen these times forcing some characters based on the vibes or energy they're getting in.

I know. I know. We heard you, the dynamic is more suitable to make them as siblings rather to ship them tbh but it's still just a headcanon, although nothing is impossible. We're just, minding our own business here silently enjoying what we love and what we create and respect each other's tastes..

Please Lumity shippers you're welcome to give any questions about why some people who are peacefully ships them and also respectfully understand that people do ship whatever they want as long they wouldn't hurt you or bring down yours too! It's my multishipping ass can't take this heart. I'm glad you guys are not toxic in each people ships different from yours and it's fine to ship Lunter at the same time Lumity foremost as we all know that Luz and Amity are the ones who gonna end up clearly together.

…Does anyone else feel like the wait for Eclipse Lake, feels a LOT like the wait for Agony of a Witch, last year? That same sense of impending dread and doom…

Like Wing it like Witches, we just had a fluffy Lumity episode that made us all happy with Knock, knock, knockin’ on Hooty’s Door. And now we’re having this nervous anticipation of a MAJOR arc of the plot, basically a two-parter with how Eclipse Lake and Yesterday’s Lie clearly connect with one another, just as Agony of a Witch and Young Blood, Old Souls did.

The fun times are over, we are onto SERIOUS business, a major plot point and revelation that the season has been building up towards, first with Lilith needing to capture Eda for Belos… Now the protagonists finding a way to get Luz back home. It’s a major showdown coming up between two parallels, a meeting that’s been a LONG time coming- Amity and Hunter, just like Eda and Lilith…

And the promotional art is filling me with a bit of a sense of dread. And concern, and possible angst, the likelihood of a cliffhanger and a heartbreaking loss, a change of status quo- Possibly to do with the Portal key. And I am… TERRIFIED, frankly. I feel like this episode is going to hurt and freak us out as we anticipated, that Eclipse Lake will go HARD like Agony of a Witch… It’s the last two episodes before a major hiatus, y’all! We’re going to expect pain and brace ourselves for the worst and STILL be struck full-force and blindsided, anyway!

I’m scared… And even MORE scared of Yesterday’s Lie leaving us on a painful cliffhanger, one that leaves us suffering in a void of agony as we wait for resolution that’ll take FAR too long to arrive! The vibes of this promo art, it’s all foreboding for me the way Agony of a Witch’s art was... And we all know how THAT went down. It’s giving me a great sense of unease.

So once again I've been had. I let the fandom trick me into thinking this episode would be way more intense. Guess that one screenshot was from the next episode.

Overall this was...fine. Some nice Lumity moments, Harpy Eda strutting her stuff, that gorgeously animated fight sequence; those were all lovely.

I do wish Willow and Gus had a bit more to do. And I'm still rather unenthusiastic about Hunter, to be honest. I've seen his type several times before, and the path they have for him is rather obvious. I may never share the fandom's love for him, and I guess I'll have to deal with that.

Anybody who says this was better than KKKOHD is a damn fool.

Mid season finale next week! I think Yesterday's Lie will finally bring the pain!

So... I watched the Owl House.

AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

I might have a problem or two with the narrative choices, but MAN, what a show. I really look forward to next episodes!

Of course, my favorite characters are Eda, King, Hooty and Hunter. HUNTER IS SO SO PRECIOUS OH MY GOODNESS

He has Zuko vibes. HE IS A BABY!

I love Lulu and Hootsifer dynamics

Eda is like, the best character I've ever seen. Kinda Gruncle Stan vibes, but... well, she is a little less pathetic in emotions stuff.

King is just perfect. I didn't expect him to have a character arc, but man, did I need it. I like the way he is being developed, and have high hopes for him. Dude, even HOOTY is getting a character arc! C'mon, this show knows what its doing.

I love Willow and Gus, they are precious and soooo cute! I love how Willow can be strong AND fragile depending of what is demanded of her.

Lilith... I don't really know what to say about her. She is very funny, and exhales chaotic energy some times. I like her.

The pacing of the show is very fast, but not dumb. There are just... a few problems with the logic. Like, why didn't Lilith just took Luz and used it to bribe Eda? Or why didn't the Emperor send better agents to catch her? How come all those guards with Lilith couldn't even cast a spell to make Hoody sleep or something like that?

Despite that the show is quite consistent, carrying the plot ahead using what they estabilished and stabilishing new things.

I left the best for the end. I absolutely adore Luz and her role. I was afraid she might turn into a Mary Sue, like some other main characters I've seen, but she actually feels like a normal person. She has virtues and makes bad decisions sometimes, and I love that.

She may have some character inconsistensies sometimes (like being super attentive to how other people feel in one episode than being completely oblivious in other one) but it never really took out my imersion.

I liked the way they built up Lumity, that was really well developed. And I like the way they never make the bullies irredeemable, because they are just children. OH, I WISH OTHER SHOWS AND FANDOMS COULD UNDERSTAND THIS. HAHA, RIGHT? BECAUSE NO CHILD IS IRREDEEMABLE THOMAS BLOODY ASTRUC-

Ok, sorry, I got a little carried away. I loved how Amity was introduced and her development, same for the other kids. They show her flaws and her virtues, like a real person. I love that. She was never too bad or too good. I could keep talking about it all day.

Best of all, I love the mocking they do to Harry Potter sometimes. Its just HILARIOUS! (The sorting hat eating the students, the headmaster having favorites, the magic games having a cheap way to win, etc.)

But I also noticed some weird narrative similarities between this show and Gravity Falls. Yeah, I know some people in the crew belonged to GF, but man, this is too similar. Sometimes and could actually predict what would happen based in Gravity Falls. I may dissert about it in some other post.

I love the references and memes they put in the show, it's priceless. And the worldbuilding? Gorgeous. I'd like to know some more about the boiling isles and if there is more places in the magical world, but I think that is going to be explored latter.

Sometimes I get real hard Star vibes from the show and get scared (I hated the ending and the creative choices made in that cartoon), but it always manages to surprise me for the better.

I think Lumity should have waited more to become canon, but I think its a very bold move to have Luz and Amity already together, giving space to develop their dynamic in a relationship.

As I said, I look forward to the next episodes!

Unpopular Opinion: They also did better representation in 1 season and a half than the whole Steven Universe show

one last thing about hunter: his name!! ppl are making fun of it cuz “haha white boy name”!! and i get it but also, it fits him and the name patterns within the show. for example, willows name being a tree, and she has plant magic. amitys name meaning friendship and her first big arc was making friends with luz. luz!! her name means light and the first spell she learns, that monumental moment where she proves she CAN do magic, was a light spell!! it fits in with hunter’s whole schtick- hes been hunting luz, eda, and palismen for belos. yeah, u can make jokes, but i like the name!! plus it gives off edgey wattpad bad boy vibes and i think thats funnier than basic white boy.
