another toffee analysis by sage h silentfire
I've been sitting on this analysis for a while, and I was going to touch on it briefly in a project I'm working on, but a talk with my therapist allowed me to put it into words and in greater detail than before. So here it is:
Why exactly do I like Toffee so much? It's a genuine question. He's the target of many different questionable writing choices, barely focused on, and forgotten within seconds of his death. We know so little about him he's basically a generic doomsday villain. The fandom is worse to him: popular interpretations paint him as cruel, arrogant, spiteful, and even, surprisingly enough, stupid. The word "sociopath" gets thrown around a lot, which, ableist. He's emotionless. He has no empathy. He's unable to connect with people. While liking villains is somewhat acceptable nowadays, it's always with the expectation that you like them because they're evil, not for any deeper reason. And with Toffee, because he's so poorly written, that should be the reason you like him. Because he's evil, and that's awesome.
But that's not why I like Toffee.
See, I am autistic, and that's never going away. I get more stereotypically autistic by the year, as I grow and become more independent, and my newfound independence clashes with my family and the society I live in. I'm weird, I'm moderately smart, I'm quirky. But more critically, I have no close friends because I literally don't know how to make and maintain friendships. I feel painfully aware of the potential emotions of everyone around me, but I don't know how to act on that awareness and communicate effectively with people, leading me to assume the worst. I have had meltdowns in crowded spaces that went completely unnoticed because I was "too subtle". I even worry that I'll die without any of the stories I want to tell – without my story – being told, because no one wanted to learn it.
Sound familiar?
So yes, I like Toffee. Even think he's a halfway decent person morality-wise, not just a villain. He expresses emotions weirdly, but he does express emotions. He is staunchly not willing to sacrifice his plans for others, but he still takes time to be nice to other people regardless. He didn't kill Moon and Marco when he could have, even though they were trying to kill him. He is empathetic enough to manipulate people and smart enough to take control of any situation, and he does it while not expressing emotions in ways others would expect. He's so much like my dream self fr.
And he dies the unquestioned villain, never getting the chance to tell his side of the story. The only perspective that we do get is filtered through the lens of his murderers.
"But Sage!" you might be saying. "What about Comet?!"
Well. I do count Comet's death as one of the questionable choices the writers made (it makes very little sense with Toffee's character, wouldn't he manipulate her into a better deal? It feels a little like the writers were like "Oh shoot, we haven't made Toffee evil enough to 'deserve' his graphic death, let's... uh, let's make him kill Moon's mother for no reason!"), but I can understand why Toffee did it, again through an autistic lens.
See, autistic people like me aren't taken seriously. Not about our areas of knowledge, not about our views and beliefs, and especially not about matters of our physical and mental health. We're treated like weird baby dolls that are expected not to have meltdowns or criticize their "superiors". Or we're embarrassments, time bombs just waiting to go off and mortify whoever we're with. Growing up, I was never able to be right, or even have a point. Oh, there were minor disagreements my guardians let me "win" and then would weaponize during the more serious arguments, but whenever we got into screaming matches, I was always the one in the wrong. We didn't even apologize or talk it out after arguments; it was always expected that I would realize I was wrong eventually and it was swept under the rug with all the other skeletons of long-dead arguments and left to simmer into resentment.
But there was one surefire way to make a dent, one I discovered recently and that has actually saved my life.
In the summer of 2022, I was put on a new medication. Long story short, I did not sleep for two weeks. I was in shambles, and I needed my mother to raise hell from me, because she would not let me do it myself – my psychiatry goes through my guardians, and I didn't even have the psychiatrist's number at the time. But she wouldn't do anything. The psychiatrist thought things would level out eventually, and my mother thought what the psychiatrist thought, nevermind that I was actively getting worse and my sleeping pills were getting less effective by the day. I begged her to raise hell like I knew she could, and she sent a mild phone call gently suggesting that things still weren't ideal. I could feel myself slipping away as everyone who was ostensibly taking care of me sat and twiddled their thumbs.
So I got personal. I deliberately started a big blowout. I convinced her that things weren't going well, and this little game of chicken with my health wouldn't result in the perfect, uncritical, angelic autistic daughter she so desperately wanted. I got into a screaming match, I listed everything she had ever done wrong, and I told her to shut up and stop spewing weak justifications on how my pain wasn't her fault, actually. I hit her where it hurts. I hurt her back. I hurt her.
And it worked. Hurting her made her take me seriously and I was back on my old meds before sunset. I slept well that night. And I will never regret it.
So maybe Toffee's plan to overthrow his colonizers with the death of Comet didn't end in monster victory. But if it weren't for the eleventh-hour dark magic, it would have. And Toffee's people were oppressed and the victims of genocide for ages. They were the small band of rebels fighting an evil colonizing empire. They were ideologically in the right. They kicked and clawed and bit until they found something to hurt, and then they didn't hesitate. Because no one took them seriously, and they still wouldn't have taken them seriously unless they did something damaging. Comet sure didn't; her chapter is a continually escalating series of microaggressions. Moon didn't; she doesn't seem to care about the conflict at all before Comet's death. Who else would take him seriously? Mina? The High Commission? Glossaryck?
So while I don't think he was totally in character in killing Comet, I do understand more than others why he might have done it.
Because Toffee is like me, for better or for worse. And he could have been great for me and people like me. But he wasn't. He was assumed to be evil and left to die immediately. Because people like me are always the bad guys.
In short,

i really don't know how to feel about fics/aus where it turns out that sj's treatment of lbh is his own fault because he didn't speak up about issues with other disciples, genuinely misbehaved etc and also later (as bingge) lied about how much he actually got punished and in truth it wasn't any more than any other disciple, and that sj didn't know about the fake manual, when all of this is explicitly against canon.
yqy adresses this when sy wakes up, telling sqq to stop being so mean to lbh. in the sj extra, he himself says that lbh should have died a long time ago bleeding from the seven apertures due to the fake manual. sy says that pidw explicitly states that lbh was punished WAAAY more than any other disciple, and in those conditions obviously noone would tell their teacher about being bullied??
idk i understand altering canon for the sake of telling a story but... somehow it feels like a disservice to sj's character to ignore canon and water him down for the sake of making his redemption easier. and villifying lbh, which is what these fics inevitably end up doing, is also messed up - he was around 11 when he joined cqm. that's a CHILD. no matter how you look at it, sqq's "treatment" of lbh is neglect at best, horrible abuse at worst, and in modern times it would put him in jail faster than you could blink. giving him a realistic redemption arc is difficult, if not impossible, but if you truly love him with all his flaws and faults, isn't it worth the effort?

Christmas with you

"What about that one?" You pointed over to a rather tall, very wide Christmas tree.
"Uhhh, babe, I don't think our ceilings are tall enough for that one." Eddie frowns. He hated telling you no, but there was no possible way to get to that thing in his van, let alone in your trailer.
He squeezes your gloved hand, bringing it up to his lips for a kiss. "C'mon, let's keep looking."
"Okay." You smiled softly at him.
You gasped, what about this one?"
"Sweetheart, look at the size of that thing it's like two of my vans put together." Eddie shook his head.
You and him continue walking hand in hand, searching for the perfect Christmas tree. This was going to be your official Christmas together in your own home. You needed the best tree you could find. You had a specific vision, and you were not going to let anyone ruin it.
Tall, fluffy tree decorated with red and gold bulbs. Warm lights and a pretty star on the top with a velvet red skirt at the bottom. Gifts tucked all around it for friends and family.
Letting go of his hand, you make a bee line for another tree. It was large. Very large. Eddies eyes widened at the size of it. The thing must have been at least way above seven feet tall.
Do you remember where you lived? It's not like living in a trailer was a new concept to you. He thought to himself. You both grew up in one. You should know how low the ceilings are. That tree is not fitting at all. Even if it could fit, it's not make it through your front door.
"Uhh baby, that's too tall." Eddie said, eyeing it up and down.
"Pleeeeaase." You fake a pout knowing it was getting more and more difficult for him to tell you no.
"Waaay too tall." He's not caving. He physically can't no matter how hard it becomes.
Your face falls. "You think?"
"Yep, unfortunately." He sighed.
Eddie isn't surprised by your enthusiasm, though. Christmas has always brought out this child like happiness in you. Maybe it was because everyone just seemed so giving and thoughtful around this time. Or because you got a wave of nostalgia anytime a Santa commercial came on the tv. You always told him he reminded you of your step dad.
Even those little frosted Christmas cookies that had too icing and tasted like cardboard that you loved so much. Whatever was in the air around this time, Eddie wishes it never went away. Seeing your face light up at the pretty lights on people's houses was worth more than any gift.
"Take a look at this one." He rushes over to a tree that resembles something straight from the Charlie brown Christmas special.
"Umm, it's nice, but it's a little....bald." You swallow hard, trying your best not to hurt his feelings.
Eddie looks it over again. "Hmm, I guess you're right."
You grab his hand and take him down another row. The trees all started to look the same after a while. They were either too tall. Too wide. Sometimes even both. You were starting to get down on yourself. You haven't found the one yet, and Christmas was already five weeks away. Eddie can tell you're starting to get discouraged.
It was getting colder outside the more the sun sets. You and Eddie have been out here for more than three hours now. Your hands felt like popsicles. Your cheeks and lips chapped.
"M'cold." Your whole body shivers next to his.
Eddie looks over to you, worry etched on his face. "Here, take my coat."
"But what about you?" You tried to argue. The freezing air turning you into a shakey chihuahua.
"Don't worry, this doesn't bother me too much." He waves a hand around.
You sniffle. "Kay... JUST for a little while, then you take it back. "
"Yes, ma'am." Eddie removes his coat, wrapping it around your frame. The inside was nice at toasty from his body heat.
Eddie pulls into his side, keeping you snuggled to him. You walk down row after row, not really finding much luck. Your eyes water from the freezing gusts of wind. Eddie, on the other hand, seems unbothered.
"Sweetheart, what about that one?" Eddie pointed to a tree just up a head.
It was large but not too big. Fluffy and was just the right size to fit in your trailer and his van.
Eddie jogs over with you in tow. Puffs of breath visible in the cold air. He stands next to it, leaning it up so you can get a better look.
"It's perfect, huh?" He looks to you and back at the tree.
"It's perfect!" You cheer a smile spreading across your once sulken face.
Eddie calls the man over who's selling the trees to give him cash. The gentleman even helped your boyfriend load it up in his van, so you didn't have to.
"Ready to get her all set up?" He asked, starting the engine.
You nod enthusiastically. "Yep, and don't forget you're putting on the topper."
"How could I forget... you've mentioned it since before Halloween." Eddie joked, leaning over to give your cheek a quick kiss before pulling off.
After you and Eddie got back home, he had Wayne come over to help unload your tree and put in the living room. You busied yourself running around your home, gathering all the decorations you bought. You didn't realize how much you had until it was all laid out in front of you. You counted about nine boxed of Christmas ornaments. Two different types of tree toppers and a ton of lights.
"Someone got excited." Eddie walked over to look at everything you purchased over the course of the month.
"Oops." You chuckled.
He pulls you in tight, wrapping his arms around you. You rest your head against his chest, listening to his heart beating.
"Havin fun?" Eddie murmured, swaying you in his arms. You felt like home to him. Something he never really had or ever thought he could experience. But he knew it the very first time he laid eyes on you. Your warm smile and bright eyes.
The moment he first met you, he knew you were special. You had just moved to Hawkins a year after you both graduated. He still recalls the first moment he met you. You were having some car troubles, and he took the opportunity to not only help you but strike up a conversation.
He pulls back, walking over to the ornaments "baby these all look the same."
"Did ya accidentally buy the same ones?"
"They're not the same, Ed." You roll your eyes playfully. Of course, he would think they all looked identical.
"These are burgundy, and these are maroon." You pointed at the various boxes filled with glass bulbs.
Eddie quirks an eyebrow. "Uhh they're all red to me."
"Well, they're not they're different." You corrected.
"Whatever you say, this is your the expert anyway." He holds both hands up, backing away slowly.
"Can we bake cookies while we do this?" He asked, going over to plug in the Christmas lights him that Wayne put around the tree.
"Of course." You smile, picking up a box of glass ornaments. "We can make hot chocolate too."
"You know just how to turn me on, huh?" Eddie was extremely playful tonight. More so than usual. Your happy demeanor was infectious, and it was rubbing off on him. He wasn't complaining there was this warm feeling in his chest. He felt safe.
"Eww." You scrunch your face trying to hide a smile.
"Eww?" His jaw drops, and he clutches at his heart.
Eddie always brought the dramatics, but that's why you fell in love with him.
"Wasn't very Eww this morning or this afternoon or before we left to get this tree." Eddie teases walking to hug you from behind.
He lays his head on your shoulder, watching you put the hook through the ornaments. "Won't be very eww tonight either."
"Okay, that's it. Go put this star on the top of the tree." You wriggle out of his hold. You heard him chuckle. He lets you go does as he's told. The rest of the night was spent decorating your Christmas tree and Eddie twirling you around dancing to old records.
The cookies barely got baked since he decided to eat half of the cookie dough. You didn't even have a chance to put it on a baking sheet. You hope he doesn't get a stomach ache tomorrow. He promised to take you Christmas shopping for Wayne. Which should be very interesting since it's going to be you and Eddie doing it together.

Danny wakes up with a gasp.
He’s—where is he? Everything hurts. He can barely think. Danny groans, long and loud, and lifts up an aching hand to his temple.
His fingers come away green. Aw, fuck. What happened to him? What’s going on? Why is his hand…blurry? Is he concussed? Is something wrong with his eyes, or with his head??
(He hopes it’s not his head. It’s waaay easier to heal from one than the other.)
Danny tries to sit up, and— NOPE. Ow. Bad idea. Suuuuuch a bad idea. His arms and hands and his neck and his back are screaming at him, now that he’s awake enough to pay attention. Ughhhhhhhhhhh.
He lays back down. His eyes don’t—well, they don’t shut all the way, which part of his brain labels as very bad, actually, but the world does turn darker and greener as he tries to shut his eyes, and that’s close enough to closing his eyes that Danny can mostly zone out past the pain.
He licks his sore lips. They taste like copper. And battery acid. …And Pixie Sticks.
Ugh, ecto-blood. His own, he assumes.
Everything is blurry and everything kind of hurts and he doesn’t know how he got here or what’s going on. Danny tries to roll over, tries to get more comfortable, but something starts dragging on the inside of his arm, which means intravenous lines.
Ugggghhhh. He hopes it’s got pain meds at least.
Awake him can deal with this later. Danny zones out, his labored breathing evens.
He’s asleep before he knows it.
*
Danny wakes up next to quiet murmuring, and to weird sensation of something moving in his arm.
He yawns—and his jaw cracks apart farther than usual, with more clicking noises than his jaw usually makes. Weird. His arms come up, his eyes unblur…
The tugging sensation doesn’t go away. Danny sniffs blearily. Blinks.
Two white-coated humans(…?) in PPE pause at his bedside, a half-dissembled IV shared between them.
Danny stops breathing. He can’t—is he—
His eyes go to the ceiling. The floor. He doesn’t recognize the room he’s in. He doesn’t understand. Is this the Guys in White again? Is he— Did he never leave? Is he trapped? Danny doesn’t—he can’t—
—One of the white coats starts making worried noises, which. Danny’s never heard that before. It’s usually threats. They raise both their arms, and Danny flinches back—
…And so do they. Huh. Hm. Are the Guys hiring scaredy cats now? That would be a change of pace, if they were as scared of Danny as Danny is of them.
The second person clicks the new IV bag into place. Danny stops focusing on number one and starts focusing on number two.
They don’t make any overt tells either. The IV line is already in him, and the bag is… Well. It’s not red and Danny’s not in any pain, and it’s not green either. It’s just. Kinda opaque? Milky? The person doesn’t start cackling evilly or telling Danny how screwed he is, either. They both just sort of…tidy up?
The first one doesn’t get closer, either, but Danny can mostly tell that they’re scanning him visually. Their attention goes from his face, to Danny’s visible arm, to the puncture point in his elbow for the IV needle.
Danny also eyes his IV point. Well. It looks like a needle. Doesn’t hurt all that much.
Someone says something he doesn’t catch. But the tone isn’t…mean, or anything. If anything, it sounds quiet, and low, like they’re trying to keep him calm.
Danny doesn’t understand.
He moves as far out of the way of them as possible. It only has the effect of a few inches and it's so painfully slow. If that. He— he remembers. He’s supposed to be scared of— something. No, he knows it—
The labs. He’s supposed to be scared of the labs. The smell is rank there and there’s always screaming and Danny had been hurt there; really, really hurt.
He’s still hurt. He’s still in a lab. In a room. In some sort of too-small prison, and now his barely-sewn together lungs are trying too hard to keep air in his body and it’s not working, and—
Danny barely pays attention when the first doctor leaves. He sees the other back into the door and reach for the phone line, and he can’t stop breathing and he can’t calm down because that means that they’re calling for help and they’re going to hurt him all over again. Tie him down. Cut him open. Shock him, until he can’t breathe without screaming—
Someone new comes in. They look— rushed. Danny can see her actively tying up long black hair, threading a mask up over her face, pulling on one of those paper shifts the doctors wear. The only difference is that she doesn’t put boot covers on.
She has big, bright boots that go all the way up her legs. With his green vision, they look kind of…greyish? (Maybe they’re pink..?)
Either way. They look…ridiculous. Danny doesn’t exactly forget to be scared, but also…what the fuck.
The woman sees that Danny can see her. She waves.
Danny presses back against his— cot. Bed.
That doesn’t stop her. She pulls latex gloves from out of the paper slip she’s wearing and snaps them on, revealing a thin layer of something shiny underneath her elastic-bound sleeves. Once that’s on, she does a visible body checkup of herself: boots, gown, gloves, mask, hair.
…No hair net, though. Or goggles. The Docs in White always wanted to be fully covered when they saw their victims. Being able to see her eyes is a lot…friendlier.
She figures herself out. Straightens. Gives a double thumbs up.
…Danny's eyes roam around. There’s no one nearby. There's only a wall behind him. Is she looking at…him? Is that directed to him?
She doesn’t move immediately— and once she’s in, the second doctor leaves the room entirely.
…The new person takes over. She goes from monitor to monitor, getting closer, but with none of the focus on Danny, per se. She reads his stats, verbalizes them out loud, which, doesn’t sound like…English? But enough to confuse him? It’s kind of like trying to discern Esperanto when he's not thinking about how it's not English.
Ancients. The pounding in his head is getting worse. Maybe Danny has a concussion or something.
The woman doesn’t…get. Him. In fact, he seems to be the least interesting thing in the room to her. Her time is spent on reading the charts and the machines waiting around him, putting something into a…fridge? A Cabinet? In the corner of his room? And otherwise, she leaves him alone.
Until. She does get up and look at him, and all of Danny tenses up painfully. He can’t move. Something’s holding down his legs, his body’s stiff, and all of him is so tired that he genuinely can’t tell if his waist is tied down or if he’s just that exhausted.
He can hear his heart rate monitor kick up. He can’t move, not really. He tries to go intangible but his core just throbs with misery, and—
She mostly just pats his sheets. Not his person, even. Apparently the torture is being held off for now. “Eow eart wel?”
…Danny squints. That is almost English.
“Eom hebbjan yift,” she adds, leadingly, as if Danny is a friend she can tease and not a subject under threat of the knife. He doesn't like it. It hurts. Nothing is real and everyone hates him and all he wants to do is leave but his body is rejecting him and—
Something light and plastic thumps down onto the bed.
Danny blinks. He looks—down. (His neck makes him regret that.)
Is that a…is that a space shuttle? No, ‘cause Danny thinks he recognizes it. It’s Discovery? Isn’t it? That’s the one they just retired. He tries to grab it, but— ouch, oof, his fingers can’t even stretch, bad idea—
The woman gently guides the shuttle into his hand. It doesn’t even hurt. And.
It’s cold to the touch. The model is plastic, it shouldn’t be so cold, but the sensation is distinctly cool and kind of familiar.
…Oh. Danny struggles to flex his fingers around the thing.
It’s him.
Or. Well. The shuttle is his. It has his ectoplasm imbued all throughout it. He can even sort of feel the sensation of carefulplayingcareful he’d have felt while near it. The feeling is weak, and timid, but it’s still there.
So. Then. When did he get it? And…why? Why was it allowed to him? How did he get it?
Is this how they’re feeding him now? Instead of showering him with poorly filtered ectoplasm every time he gets rowdy, are they actually trying to feed his Obsession? For real?? That’s—that’s brand new behavior from the—
Danny blinks. Wait. That’s not it either. Because there’s an IV in him. So…they know he’s getting human food.
So. Uh.
Hm.
Danny doesn’t want to get his hopes up. But this…might not be the Guys in White.
Of course, they might not be better than the GIW either; it’s a total possibility that Danny’s getting suckered into some scheme where every gentle permission and soft voice is a debt he owes…some new reason to take…
His eyelids twitch as they try to shut. He’s so tired. Fear kept him mobile, but now…everything is so heavy.
The lady carefully shushes him, ever so gently. She pulls up his blanket for him. Pats it down.
Danny shivers. He’s so, so scared.
“Ræste þiht,” the woman whispers. The words sound fond. Danny’s so scared, but he’s so tired. His heart is beating so fast. “An freond becymþ hraðe.”
It’s reassuring.
Danny doesn’t want it to be.
He falls asleep the way the desperate do—clawing at the last traces of wakefulness, only to have his consciousness ripped from him.

The legacy characters reacting to mc/you kissing them?
A/n: I assumed you meant the first kiss...if I am wrong please let me know! I really liked this one, fluff is my forte. If you guys would like a girls version, let me know! This just got waaay too long lol.
Sebastian Sallow:
Alright. To go in order, he is surprised, flustered, and then overjoyed.
I imagine you're trampling through the woods in search of some potion ingredients. After all, Sebastian despises paying for things he can easily grab from the wild.
So the two of you are searching for a white flower with a blue and pink center. It's harder than it looks but you're having the time of your life being so far away from anyone but each other.
Sebastian thought that maybe this would become a patronus memory. He wasn't wrong!
"There it is!" You exclaim out of nowhere. He turns to see your outstretched hand reaching for a clearing in the cliffs. A cave. The flower is in a small, narrow cave.
Magic is forbidden outside of Hogwarts grounds, and somewhere long ago you had passed the border. So a summoning charm is out of question.
Sebastian hoists you on his shoulders so you can wriggle into the small space. And, of course, you do. There is a small moment of panick where you thought that you might be stuck, but he helped you out smoothly.
Of course, you have to thank him with a kiss. So yeah, you stand on your toes and plant a small kiss on his lips. The two of you had been dating for less than two weeks and you were tired of him not making a move to kiss you.
Unbeknownst to you, he was going to kiss you as a little reward to himself for saving you.
His arms wrapped around your waist and he pulled you closer to him. He wouldn't let you off with ONE kiss!
On the outside he is calm and collected but on the inside, he is so giddy it's almost contagious. The most amazing person at Hogwarts just kissed him? And he's kissing them again? Yeah, he smiles into the kiss and has to bite down a happy giggle.
Ominis gets SUCH an earful that night!!
Ominis Gaunt:
Mans is the definition of "Pining."
Everything you do has him absolutely enamored, willing for more. And when I mean everything, I mean he's listening you tend to a flobberworm with a HUGE grin. But, he never makes a move because, well, you're the hero of hogwarts! Surely you could do better than a blind, cold, Gaunt.
He agreed to spend the afternoon with you in your Vivarium. After all, he loves animals! Maybe not as much as Poppy, but he definitely is in his happy place. Warm grass, sunshine, a Mooncalf laying it's head on his stomach, and most of all, you!
His smile grows impossibly larger once he hears you laugh. "Ominis, he just rolled over! The worm!" There wasn't much incredible about worms in his opinion, but you were excited and that made it worth it.
"That's incredible! Maybe you can train them like dogs!" You flopped down on the grass beside him and smiled at his comment. "I bet I could learn to make leashes for them. Considering they don't have necks, it would be a challenge."
You were close. So close. Was that new perfume? Ominis went into overdrive, subtly scooting away from you. He couldn't stomach the thought of you hearing his heart beat out of his chest after all.
"Ominis?" He craned his head in your direction. Was he blushing? Oh merlin, he hoped not.
"I was just talking about Hogsmeade, are you alright? Usually you jump to go to Honeydukes." Genuine concern laced your voice and he smiled. You always were just too kind.
"Fine, sorry. Go on."
But you were silent. It wasn't until he felt a weight against his arm that he realized you had moved closer.
"Ominis, has anyone told you that you're gorgeous?" You laughed at his guffaw. "No...?"
"You are. Beautiful, even. Handsome if I do say so myself."
Your breath tickled his ear. How fast does a heart have to beat in order to explode? He dreaded to find out.
"MC..." He trailed off, not knowing what to say.
"Can I kiss you?" You offered instead.
His mind was screaming at him to decline, screaming that he would somehow hurt you, but his heart took charge and he found himself nodding.
If he thought you smelled sweet, you tasted sweeter. And he sighed at a gentle kiss. His heart calmed down, everything seemed to calm when you were touching him.
Carefully he placed a hand on the back of your head and pulled you in for another kiss.
As he felt you smile into the kiss, all his worries about not being good enough went away.
You were here, with him, and that's all that matters.
Garreth Weasley
Golden retriever boyfriend!!
Technically (and I use technically very loosely here,) You guys aren't dating.
But he calls you pet names and you kiss his cheek, one of you is always sneaking the other into your dorm for cuddles, and hand holding is almost a second reflex.
So yeah. Other than not being labeled as partners, you guys are dating.
And it's after quidditch that you guys...make it official.
It was the house cup and you both were playing. Whether it be both for Gryffindor or Gryffindor versus your house, the two of you are up in the air.
After not having Quidditch fifth year, it's a warm welcome to be up and fighting for your house!
The game was intense, and you could hear your friends screaming for your victory in the stands.
A large number of people had gathered outside of the pitch as well. The house cup always drew former students back to watch their old house win.
All the attention must have gone to your ego, because you were playing amazing!! Even your rivals were gawking at you. Of course you were good at quidditch before, but the extra attention makes you a superstar!
And so when the snitch is caught and the crowd goes wild, the pure Euphoria washes over you in a wild wave.
You had won, and you had won in a landslide.
Garreth is spotted and you don't think twice before jumping from your broom to his, laughing at his confused expression.
"We won!!" You exclaimed, grabbing onto his shoulders and smiling so wide it hurt. "We won the house cup!"
"I kno-" Garreth is cut off by you grabbing his face by the cheeks and kissing him hard. His face goes almost as red as his hair!
The broom stutters underneath you and he quickly calms it down, grabbing onto your waist and kissing you back just as passionately.
Well, Natty catches you guys, noticing you aren't on the ground celebrating and her laugh is what makes you break apart. With embarrassed glances, the two of you follow Natty back down to the pitch.
Leander Prewitt:
Boy is too confident in his mistakes.
By that, I mean, he asked you on a date to the three broomsticks. It went well and you were feeling all fuzzy...until he tried to kiss you.
Of course you didn't mind being kissed by him but he goes in with all his confidence and smashes his forehead against your nose, causing it to bleed. So he goes to grab a napkin but knocks his chair over and it lands on your foot. Then, picking it up, he bumped into the table and spilled your butterbeer. The hot liquid went right into the woman at the adjacent table's lap.
So, naturally, he helped you stop the bleeding and then he ran. He's been avoiding you since then and your feeble attempts at finding him don't work.
He's...a mess.
Garreth comes and finds you a couple days later and he can't even keep the irritation out of his tone while he tells you that Leander would like to speak to you. Meet him at the DADA tower tonight.
He walks away before you can ask him what time.
You waited for three hours and your annoyance grew by every moment. Of course you didn't blame Leander, Garreth didn't tell you what time! To your knowledge anyway. No, Leander CHOSE not to give a time because he heard Sebastian talking about how feelings intensify after a waiting period.
Welp. Not exactly what he meant, Leander, but okay.
When Leander peeks around the corner, he thinks you don't notice him, but oh boy, you do.
"Can you BELIEVE Garreth didn't give me a time? I have been waiting for three bloody hours! Gah!" You slammed your book shut and stood to face him. "It's okay. What would you like to talk to me about?"
He's too busy mentally beating himself up to answer you immediately. "Oh, uh," He stutters after a few seconds. "I just wanted to say that I am so, so very sorry for how our date went."
"It's not your fault, Leander, don't worry! And Nurse Blainey fixed my nose. No worries."
He still didn't look convinced. Even though you had to stand on your toes, you stood and kissed him lightly on the lips. "It's all alright, Lee."
Okay he malfunctioned. Mans just stopped working.
Slowly his face goes pink and his smile grows. He might be a loser sometimes, but hey. He's your loser.
Amit Thakkar.
So, so Awkward.
Yes, he likes you. Alot. But you don't like him that way, and that's fine! He values your friendship anyway. Well, he thought you didn't like him that way.
Truth be told, you were absolutely smitten with him!
Who doesn't love a handsome and smart, not to mention sweet boy?
The only person who knows this is your best friend, Poppy.
And of course, she is determined to get the two of you together. Because if she heard you ramble on about liking him but knowing he doesn't feel the same one more time, she might just lose it.
So in History of Magic one day, she notices Amit isn't glued to the board. He's scribbling in his notebook, but- wait. He's blushing.
She takes the seat next to him, leaving both you and Amit confused. He's quick to turn the page. This doesn't discourage your friend whatsoever. Instead, she just smiles to herself. When Amit isn't looking, she switches their notebooks and comes back to her normal seat next to you.
"I have something for you."
You can only blink at her. After all, she was acting very strange. "O-okay?"
And she hands you his notebook, flips a page, and wow you are face to face with a page of love poems. Mostly original ones too. Written in your house colors, describing someone who could only be you.
"I told you!!" Poppy hisses at you with a triumphant smirk on her face.
After class, Amit stayed behind to look for his notebook. You stayed behind to give it to him.
"Poppy had this." You can't meet his eyes.
Oh no. He knows what you read.
"Mc! It's not- I didn't mean to- Oh merlin MC, I'm sorry you had to read that."
His face is PALE because he is convinced you think he's weird and want nothing to do with him now.
"No, no, Amit don't apologize! I thought they were incredibly sweet."
Oh great, now they're trying to make him feel better.
"Really, I did." You continued. "I- I have my own Poems actually. I mean I didn't write them myself but I like Poetry. Alot. I guess what I want to say-am trying to say I mean- is that I feel the same way about you."
Amit went from pale to flushed in record time. "You do? I-wow, okay-wow."
An awkward silence filled the room before your enchanted watch dinged, letting you know that you were late to Charms. "I have to go...will you meet me at the Astronomy tower tonight? After dinner?"
He is still blushing as you lean in to kiss his cheek. With a shy half smile you leave the classroom, smiling to yourself. He is left standing in place, a hand over where you kissed his cheek and a shy but ecstatic grin on his face.

Kokushibo
At first, he would ignore you. Act like he didn't hear it.
But your repeating would force him to react.
And that will make him blatantly stare at you. With his 6 eyes. Trying to intimidate you.
But it fails miserably, since you think he is oh so cute. (I would be intimidated and horny)
You start to cock your head and tell him again with a smile.
A long sigh comes from him. Of course he had heard that he appears dignified and majestic, but not 'cute'.
He comes closer to you, towering you with his height as he lowers his 6 eyes onto you.
"Nobody... dared to call me cute..."
"Well then they are blind."You got balls.
And fortunately, he likes it.
A rare little smile cracks on the corner of his mouth. "You may... accompany me on my next mission..."
Jackpot
Douma
"Kyaa Y/N-chaaaan! You are waaay cuter than me"
He would look at you with his beautiful rainbow eyes that you love so much.
You shake your head. "No, you are cuter"
"No you."
"No you!"
"No you"
"Okay fine we are both very cute"
"No Y/N-chan I still have to disagree. You are a female and they usually provide more nutritions which in turn taste sweeter!"
And while he said that he looked at you a little bit hungrier than usual.
Run.
Akaza
He would first think that he just misheard you.
"Huh?"
You repeated yourself and gave him a sugar-sweet smile.
A surprised look on his eyes while he blinks with his pretty pink eyelashes.
Was that a faint blush on his cheeks?
You tried to get a closer look, but he turned away because you had gotten too close to him.
"Akaza-sama you are even cuter like this!"
"Stop saying things like this!"
"But it's true!"
"Y/N..." His tone was warning.
But you couldn't help but giggle. "Even more cute now"
A sigh as he gave up, the faint blush still on his cheek. "Fine, will you stop calling me like that if I accept it?"
But you only stuck your tongue out at him to tease him even more.
I think you got him.

⚣ ATLA/LOK: The Four Nations & Homosexuality ☀️
Tumblr media
I'm planning to write for my favorite characters from the Avatar universe again. Any OGs from my first account know I started posting content about ATLA and LOK, specifically Bolin and Mako, WAAAY before I started posting DC and Marvel content among others.
So I wanted to talk about something I found really interesting about homosexuality within the four nations and their attitudes towards it regarding acceptance and whether they embraced or turned away from it. And since we are soon getting a new Earth Avatar series, we might as well start with the Earth Kingdom.
Tumblr media
EARTH KINGDOM
First, let's consider the element of the nation itself and what it symbolizes.
Earth is not just the element of strength, but also the element of endurance and rigidity. In simple terms, it's a tough and stubborn element.
Also, Earth is a hybrid element, meaning it can be used in defensive and offensive manners easily.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Concerning its nation, it can be shown how citizens of the Earth Kingdom would more than likely be very conservative and adverse to any change or diverting from societal standards in the norm.
They're stubborn and stuck in their ways, so they may not react the most positively to displays of affection between same-sex couples. But, it can work in both ways.
As mentioned, Earth-benders and citizens, in general, tend to be very stuck in their beliefs, meaning if one were to have a more liberal position on the matter of social and romantic relationships, they would be just as defensive and stubborn in that belief as someone more conservative and traditional.
This goes back to my saying that Earth itself is a hybrid element. A mix of defensive and offensive tactics. Just as much as people way attempt to push their beliefs onto others, they're just as quick to defend their beliefs and ideals.
I'd also argue region/location within the Earth Kingdom is a major factor. If we're talking places like small villages or cities like Omashu in the animated version, you may be met with pushback and intolerance. But, places like Kyoshi Island where its founder was a lesbian so likely had very liberal beliefs concerning such topics. Also Omashu from the live-action since that version portrays Oma & Shu as a lesbian couple, and even Ba Sing Se since big cities are proven to attract a more liberal-leaning population.
But, interestingly enough, in the comics, it's stated that the Earth Kingdom is the slowest to accept change, and their default is still heterosexuality. Obviously, this comes from the rigidness and stubbornness of the Earth element itself. So even if Ba Sing Se has a more 'liberal' or rather "diverse" crowd, doesn't mean that crowd is automatically open to homosexuality. Ideally, the only known place in the Earth Kingdom where you could experience the most acceptance and grace from others would be Kyoshi Island
In summary, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the most accepting & embracing of homosexual relationships and 1 being the opposite, I originally was going to give the Earth Kingdom a 5, but remembering how it's stated in the comics that they are the slowest to accept change which checks out, they got bumped down to a 2.
It is a very big nation and thus has the potential to plant different seeds of belief and opinion, however, it's clear in the show how rigid and otherwise, unshakeable denizens of the Earth Kingdom can be. They have their beliefs, and they strongly stick to them.
Even with someone like Avatar Kyoshi who had to go and make a whole separate Island where she and her people could live in peace and prosperity without certain influences affecting them, they still have yet to come around to the idea that other people live with different interests and beliefs, and that there is truly no 'default' for even one person.

FIRE NATION
Starting with a focus on the element itself again, fire is the element of power, as described by Iroh. It can burn things in its path, but can also give life. In simple terms, it's an element of strong will and desire to expand and consume, literally and metaphorically.
Fire is also mainly an offensive element, with the capability of modifying certain offensive moves into defensive ones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Its nation's citizens and benders heavily share these traits with their element. They tend to be willful and proud, and while that doesn't necessarily equal being close-minded, pride can very well lead to stubbornness.
This is evidenced strongly by the political government of the Fire Nation, with its monarchy power having complete and total influence and control over its citizen's lifestyles and choices. If one Fire Lord feels strongly about something and makes it into law, another Fire Lord can come two generations later and reverse and change it.
This is shown in the nation's history, where homosexuality was actually tolerated (I hate using that word) in the Fire Nation for a long time before Fire Daddy, ahem, I mean Fire Lord Sozin's rule. It was during his reign as Fire Lord that Sozin outlawed same-sex relationships and marriages among the Fire Nation and its citizens.
Some speculate it was due to the clear pressure he faced being the sole heir to the throne since his sister was born a non-bender, something that was frowned upon in the royal family. A potential heir to the Fire throne had to be a firebender, with no exceptions. Therefore, Princess Zeisan was allowed more freedom and control in her life than he was, as evidenced by her embracing Air Nomad culture and being confirmed as a lesbian.
It was common knowledge that Sozin and Zeisan had a very antagonistic and tense relationship with each other, despite them being siblings. They were pitted against each other from a young age which caused a rivalry between them. So, it's completely possible to speculate that Sozin implemented the law to spite his sister who fell in love with Sister Rioshon, an Air Nun.
it's also completely possible to theorize that Sozin harbored homosexual tendencies and feelings himself, especially towards his best friend, Roku we all know was the Fire Avatar before Aang. Again, his being a royal prince and next in line for the throne threw a wrench in this since Sozin was expected to marry a woman and produce an heir. So his potential feelings for his best friend could never be explored due to his duties and responsibilities to his nation.
So since Sozin couldn't have what or who he truly wanted, no one could, and thus, same-sex love and marriage were banned. And that didn't change no matter where you went in the nation unlike the Earth Kingdom where you could go from village to village and city to city and the rules would be completely different depending on where you were.
Again, fire is the element of power and will. And if it was the will of the Fire Lord to ban same-sex relationships in the nation entirely, then everyone had to fall in line. Meaning the door was opened for more conservative and traditionalist views to be voiced in opposition to same-sex relationships.
While some may have had differing beliefs and ideals, they more than likely had to keep it to themselves, especially among the nobility. This can lead to harboring feelings of anger and resentment, rather than love and acceptance, causing people to react harshly to any displays of such affection and behavior, just like Sozin.
As I said, fire as an element itself is primarily offensive in nature. Reflecting on its people, and especially its governing body, this is clearly shown by the notion that one person's opinion and belief can be pushed onto everyone around him if he or she so decrees it.
With that, the Fire Nation gets a 3/10 on the scale. Again, in the past, they were at minimum tolerant of it. which is not much if we're being honest. Tolerant actually is kind of insulting. But, after Sozin's rule, that tolerance more than likely dwindled and hasn't improved much following his reign as far as we know.
I'd like to think that Zuko as the Fire Lord, having seen much of the world and all its different dimensions and lifestyles people have lived, he'd at some point in his reign reverse the ruling, but that's a far-fetched hope knowing these writers and creators (no shade...mostly).

AIR NOMADS
Air is the element of freedom. It's flexible and lacks restriction, moving in any direction it desires. And because of its lack of constraint, it becomes easily adaptable in any scenario, whether it's evasion, offense, defense, etc.
However, the element of air is primarily and almost purely used as a defensive and evasive practice among its population, due to its nation as a whole choosing to live as pacifists. But, do not be misled. As mentioned, air as an element can be just as powerful offensively as it is defense-wise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just as their element, the benders of the Air Temples were very open and flexible people. As monks and nomads, they chose to forego many earthly and physical connections, seeking spiritual enlightenment. Because of this, there were never any non-benders in the Air Nomads.
Any child born from an Airbender was an Airbender themselves. Also, due to their style of life and spirituality, they were very adaptive to any situation they were placed in, making them very open to any and all change around them.
While they lived by the teachings of the monks and masters of the Air Nomads, they lived freely and openly, just like their element. The most restriction they had was as children or masters/monks that lived at the temples, males and females were not allowed to live together in the same space.
I'm not sure if this applies to temples as a whole as I've seen conflicting information. Some say the rule applies to temples as a whole, which would mean the Northern and Southern Temples were only inhabited by male Airbenders, and the respecting Eastern and Western temples were inhabited by female Airbenders.
But, I do remember a specific scene from Avatar, during the 2nd season when Appa was lost, and he had a memory of when he was a baby bison, and he and Aang met for the first time. I remember the monk facilitating this was a female Airbender, so that's why I'm not exactly sure what is concrete.
But, it does make sense as in many of Aang's flashbacks to his time at the Southern Air Temple, we mainly only ever saw male Airbenders. Thus, many have speculated that this specific rule would inadvertently encourage exploration and curiosity for these young Airbenders regarding their sexuality as they matured and eventually left the temples as adults and master Airbenders.
Also, on this, no child from the Air Temples was raised by their parents. They were only raised by the monks, enforcing that common belief and practice they all had. While they of course had their own identities, they were all taught the same thing from an early age, if an Adult Airbender met and had a child with someone from a different nation, that child likely being an Airbender would be sent to the Air temples to be raised by the monks.
All that to say, Airbenders would be the exact opposite of conservative. They technically wouldn't even be liberal since, again, they detach themselves from earthly limitations in favor of a higher spirituality.
So, since they don't subscribe to earthly practices or beliefs, they would be the most accepting nation of homosexuality and same-sex relationships. It's not in their nature or belief to judge others either so they wouldn't show any hostility or intolerance to LGBTQ+ people and relationships.
Just like their element, they practice freedom and adaptability to the world around them. And just as air is primarily used in defensive manners, they still will defend their beliefs and practices, they just avoid direct confrontation, preferring evasive maneuvers.
Just a quick note, the Air Nomads are what I like to think of as the example of how this world should have been. I read another column that detailed how the creators of the show ultimately created institutionalized homophobia because they couldn't imagine a world without it, and that's in large part due to the heavy influence of Western, colonial, Christian, and to be quite frank, European imperialism on the show's writing.
It's a fact that's becoming increasingly more well-known. Before European and Christian colonization/imperialism, many cultures and communities were not just accepting of same-sex relationships and LGBTQ+ identities, they embraced it! While there were definitely pedophilic relationships that were wrong and grotesque no matter what time period it was, same-sex relationships were just as normal as opposite-sex ones. There was no "default."
So in simple terms, the Air Nomads accept and embrace everyone, no matter who they are or how they live. As long as they don’t wrong and harm others, and even then, they see everyone as equal and deserving of respect and love. And that's what our society should be based on. Of course, they were killed off in an entire genocide, which, say what you will and think what you think, but the one culture that accepts and loves everyone as they are being killed off...ironic, don't ya think?

WATER TRIBES
Finally, water is the element of change. Like air, it adapts to its circumstances, but more fluidly and gracefully. Yet, unlike air, it relies on the flow of energy, turning its defense into an offense and back. In whatever scenario that sees fit, a Waterbender can change their liquid offense into a solid defense, or turn a solid offense into a gas defense.
This clearly makes the water an element suitable for either an offensive or defensive strategy. Its unique ability to change its form to fit its circumstances gives its user an extreme advantage in combat or any other risky scenario.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, even with this in mind, ironically enough, the people of the Water Tribe are not the most in sync with their element as far as when it comes to living standards.
While yes, in combat, they adapt and adjust accordingly to their needs and goals in the fight, in regular practice, they're more conservative and less open to change than you would initially believe.
Also, as confirmed in the LOK comics, while the Water Tribes are not openly homophobic, they are still lacking in accepting and embracing the concept that there is not one rule that applies to all when it comes to who they love. Which, when you think about it, checks out.
The Northern Tribe operated heavily off a patriarchal society as we saw in the first season, and it took Paku nearly getting his ass whooped by a teenage girl who was the grand-daughter of the woman he loved but refused to wed since it was arranged for them to start to change their ways. Even if the Southern Tribe was a bit ahead of their Northern counterpart in this sense, they still suffered from the restricting roles they placed on themselves concerning gender.
Giving props to Fire Nation and Air Nomads, they never had restrictive rules on who could fight in battle, even if the Nomads as mentioned tended to avoid conflict. However, the Earth Kingdom and Water Tribes both practiced and thus, were limited by their rules that men were only allowed to serve in the army and in the guard.
Of course, we've already discussed the Earth Kingdom is the slowest to accept change, but for the Water Tribes, this is a bit unnatural, and if this is how they act regarding gender, it says a lot about how they would react when it comes to same-sex relationships.
So, it's understandable why Kya advises Korra and Asami to keep their relationship to themselves. But, I personally don't believe they should. Creating change means people are going to be uncomfortable. Oh well, boo-hoo, they'll get over it.
But, this does at least check out with the hybrid offense/defense nature of water bending. People of the Water Tribe will stand their ground and defend what they choose to believe in and love. And while they may not openly go out of their way to push their beliefs onto others like those in the Fire Nation, it doesn't mean they don't still have ways have doing so. Like water, I imagine their approach to such a subject can vary.
With that, Water Tribes get a 2.5/10. They're ahead of the Earth Kingdom in the sense that they've realized excluding women from fighting hurts them more than it helps them. Also, it's highly plausible that if a woman can learn how to fight, a man can learn how to heal, but I digress. However, they're still lower than the Fire Nation since this is less of a government-forced ideology and more of a societal norm they place on themselves.
Acceptance Rating: 2.5/10
I like doing analysis like this. If anyone thinks of other topics to discuss and do a deep dive into, send it in my asks!

「 Radiosilence (QPR Reader and Alastor) 」
Content: Mostly angst; t.w.: panic attack, anxiety attack, swearing, fear of abandonement, Charlie doesn't get paid to be a therapist.
"God fucking damn it", they turned on their heels as they kept walking, grunting and cussing. Their eyes focused on a chair as they kicked it across the room, effectively breaking it. Hands gripping their hair and lightly tugging at it. "How could he do this to me?!".
"I, ah, what if we take deep breaths..?", Charlie stuttered, the princess of Hell looking anxious at how this particular room was an absolute wreck, even the windows were broken — maybe she needed a hotel manager or someone with more experience than her and uhh, maybe let Vaggie pick who gets to stay in through an interview process..? The demon before her simply stared at her with a sharp glare that made her feel small.
"You have to excuse me, Charlie but, I can't take a deep breath when I feel like suffocating", such words were accompanied by them scratching the skin from their neck all the way down to their collarbone with their claws that were poking out, slightly tearing the skin and bleeding. Somehow that helped to ground them and not spiral out of control. "I can expect betrayal from everyone but him, we are waaay past that stage, we grew up together, aged together, and he disappears?! What the Hell am I supposed to expect? To feel? It's like my metaphorical heart has been ripped apart and torn into pieces, my ribcage hurts when I breath, fucking Hell!", grabbing a book from the small bookshelf, the demon named (Y/N) growled and tossed it against the wall, denting it. They were breathing heavily as they tried to calm down, usually Alastor would know how to calm them down but he was the cause.
"Charlie, you don't understand, he and I... I can feel he made a poor choice because he was cornered and not knowing what he did is driving me insane, I have a deep connection with him. Hell, if he breathes the wrong way I know what the fuck is up—". Explaining their relationship was complex, usually they got misunderstood because apparently someone couldn't care about another without having romantic feelings or whatever.
This feeling was far more complex, they were more than family and friends, soulmates was a bit of a stretch... perhaps a mirror of one another in some fancy manner of speech? And ocasionally engaged in exchanges that could be interpreted in a different light, but romance wasn't it. They had a mutual connection but no carnal desires, their company was an anchor to ground them, it was a comforting bond.
Whatever social need they required, they could satisfy with each other without any misunderstanding or, at least, if there was one then it could be easily fixed with a conversation over a hot beverage with jazz playing on the background.
But Alastor broke their bond without any fucking explanation.
"Fuck, fuck!", (Y/N) cried as they held their face, falling onto their knees. Their vision blurry due to tears rolling down their cheeks, they were having trouble breathing.

It's You
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Benny go waaay back.
A/N: Another one. (just came back and realized I left some sentences hanging I'm so sorry😢.)
Warnings: minor DNI 18+, smut, dry humping, p in v, adorable origin story.
Word Count: 3.5k
Looking out at the endless stretches of land you're reminded of bits of your childhood, spent with your mother’s parents. You remember a massive backyard with no fence like the one at home and a tire swing that never caught a break. The stink of outside caused your grandmother to tell you to shower before you sat at her dining table. From those early memories, it was your favorite place. But the summer you turned 9 the cracks in your family were too big to ignore, unbeknownst to you.
When your parents' divorce was finalized all you thought was that you’d get two of everything but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Your mom got remarried first promising a new beginning, except eventually, that meant without you. Her husband, Liam, was lovely enough but after you refused to call him ‘dad’ the exclusion began there. You spent more and more weeks with your dad under the guise of them needing time together.
The announcement of your mother's pregnancy shocked you but you were happy to be a big sibling. Even though you spent more time with your dad it was explained to you they needed to set up for the baby. The tension between your mother and father was thick. He hated the way she was allowing her new husband to treat you like yesterday’s trash, seeing you cry after your mother denied you for the umpteenth time left your father feeling defeated.
He knew how much you loved going to your grandparents, despite the divorce they maintained a good relationship. So he sucked it up and called his former mother-in-law to have a heart-to-heart. His hushed whispers didn’t stop you from eavesdropping.
“I just don’t know what to do, I can’t fill in for Monica and she can’t be bothered to care,” Your dad sighs. “I need her to have some normalcy and more than me to fall back on. I just don’t think I’m enough anymore.” Your father’s hidden grieves finally aired.
“Baby you are doing the best you can, I’m sorry it’s been this bad. I don’t know what’s gotten into Monica but she's always welcome to stay with us, you too if you ever need to.”
“She does love it up there.” Although you only hear your father’s side excitement thrums throughout you, and only one place makes you that happy.
“Mhmm can’t keep her overactive behind in the house.” Grandma's quip summons your father's deep chuckle thinking of the time spent at his former in-laws. “So it’s settled then bring her behind up here and she’ll be alright.”
“Thank you.” In only two words anyone could feel genuine gratitude from your father.
……….
Your heart beats a mile a minute as you pull up to your grandparent's house, It’s been longer than usual and you weren’t sure if they still wanted you around. Noticing your hesitance your dad gives you space and goes to get the bags out of the trunk. By the time he drags the last of them to the steps he sees you standing at the door.
“You gonna let em’ know we’re here sweet pea?” He gently urges you with raised brows.
You raise your hand to ring the doorbell, listening to the wind chimes on the porch. Then you hear a flurry of steps come to the door, and both of your grandparents answer suspiciously. Once you’re in the house you can tell they are huddled together to hide something for you.
“Me and Nana talked and we know it can get a little lonely when you’re here with us geriatrics,” your grandmother swats him with a side glance. “This is someone we found to help with that.”
A black kitten with doll-like eyes stares back at you, gently you approach the pet and feel their fur. You get an instant response as a smile slowly blossoms across your face. “What’s their name?”
“We thought you could take care of naming him.” Your grandmother looks fondly upon you enjoying the kitten.
“Ok, but I need to get to know him better first.” You decide before running up the stairs to your room yelling a “Thank you,” to everyone involved.
Hours pass as you get to know your kitten. He’s not fond of outside but he’ll stay on the porch and watch you. He prefers to roam around in the same room as you rather than cuddle, not that you mind. Even though you don’t see him all the time you know he’s there, which was oddly comforting to you.
After spending enough time holed in your room you come downstairs to bother your grandpa while he watches sports. Except you find two teenage-looking boys sitting in the living room with him. The older one, you assume, has longer hair like the men in your grandma's ‘special’ books. He’s got blue eyes that are glued to the screen like he’s getting paid. The younger one though, is already looking at you causing heat to flood your cheeks. You back up the way you came and head to where your grandmother is.
“Nana who are those people on the couch with Grandpa?”
“Oh those are our new neighbor’s kids, They moved in the house a mile from here and they help out in exchange for dinner.” Your Nan lets out before adding, “Where’s your kitten sweet pea?”
“Sebastien’s taking a nap” you proudly tell her.
You saddle up next to her watching as she cooks and helping cut, albeit rather slowly, but she doesn’t seem to mind. The kitchen smells better than ever which attracts the three people dedicated to watching sports in the other room. The two boys enter the room and you busy yourself stirring the pot.
“Do you want me and Benny to set the table ma’am?” The older one addresses your Nan.
“That would be great, thank you, William. Before I forget this is my granddaughter,” she gives your name before turning back to you. “This is William Miller,” she gestures toward the older one. “And this is his younger brother Benjamin Miller.”
You manage to look at both of them with a small smile before going back to the pot. Once the dinner table is set the five of you sit down silently to eat, just the way you like it. Though you feel the stare of one particular person, you cast a glance at Benjamin who doesn’t bother looking away. You break first finishing your food and bringing it to the kitchen, Benny is right behind you with his plate.
“You know it’s rude to stare.” You attempt to chastise him.
“Weren’t you staring at me and my brother earlier?” He grins knowing he caught you.
“No.” You decide to lie.
“If you say so, what do you do for fun here?” Benny's been bored since Will, him, and mom moved next door.
“I have a tire swing out back and there’s a creek not too far from here.” You hope he picks the tire swing, it’s more fun if someone pushes you.
“The creek sounds fun.” He muses.
“So does the tire swing.” You counter.
“We can do the tire swing when we get back.” He assures you.
“You promise?” Your eyes narrow in suspicion.
“Pinky.” He holds up his to solidify his word.
On your way out you tell your grandmother you’re showing Benny the creek, she warns you to be careful. Throughout the walk you come to find out Benjamin isn’t as quiet as you thought. He’s very talkative rattling over so many topics it’s almost hard to keep up. You don’t mind though it’s nice being around him.
Benny follows your lead, so much so that when you stop abruptly he doesn’t have time to stop himself before barreling through you. The muffled grunt underneath him has Benjamin moving faster than usual. As Benny helps you emerge from the ground, he helps pick out leaves stuck in your hair. The death glare you send him has him primarily focusing on the back of your hair.
“Sorry, I should’ve been watching where I was going.” You roll your eyes but accept his apology no less. Luckily your clothes didn’t get mud on them.
“It’s fine.”
You begin moving to the edge to dip your feet in. Benjamin follows your lead, this time careful of your movements. “You know there’s a bunch of pretty pebbles at the bottom?” Benny cranes his neck to try and spot what you’re talking about. You inch towards him motioning straight down past the edge. “See all the green and blue ones?” You back up to let him get a better look.
Benjamin’s hands are planted on the edge as he peers over, what he doesn’t expect is you hip-checking him into the water. The loud and humid air that once surrounded him turned into cool still water. Once he resurfaced and found you peering down at him with a cheeky grin, he couldn’t even be mad.
“Now can we go back to swing?” Benny heaved himself out of the water, wringing his shirt out before trudging behind you. You practically skip the whole way to the backyard, surprised to find Will sitting on the porch. Upon seeing the both of you worse for wear he muffles a laugh. To make matters worse you look like you’re the one bossing him around on the swing.
When the Miller brothers walk home that night the squelching of Benny’s clothes has Will laughing the entire way home.
………..
At present, you and Benny are celebrating his return from deployment. Even now over a decade later Benjamin and you were glued at the hip. You watch as he pours another shot out for you, this will be the 6th one. Just like the good old days, you two are getting shit-faced by the creek.
Throughout the years of you coming to stay with your grandparents, Benny would arrive before you did. The pair of you got close enough that he told you about his parent's divorce and how he hadn’t seen his dad as much. You hugged him and reiterated the words your dad told you ‘their loss’. After you told him about your mom he was ready to storm her house and demand an answer to her absence in your life.
Sebastien and he got along well enough, Benny was always a little too excitable for him to be around. Benny had always had good looks but as the two of you got older, you couldn’t deny your growing attraction to him. His shoulders got broader, almost always stretching whatever shirt he was wearing. But his face chiseled out with facial hair, he had no idea what an ugly phase was. His hair was gorgeous and when he told you he was gonna have to chop it off for training you thought that was it. But no, his buzzcut enhances his face and makes you look into his eyes.
“What are you gonna do?” You peer down at him lying on his back while you sit up gazing at the water.
“You remember when I told you I wanted to do MMA?”
“So you wanna get the shit beat out of you for a living?” You were mostly jesting but a small part of you is worried.
“Don’t worry, I’m a real professional,” He sits up and playfully punches the air in front of him. “C’mon I bet you can’t take me.” He stands up rousing you to play fight with him.
“How many times do I have to push you in that water before I finally shut you up?” You finally take the shot that’s been sitting in front of you, standing with a little wobble to match his stance.
Benny stands nearly a foot above you, hunching his shoulders to somewhat meet your height. He rocks back and forth trying to figure out your next move.  You keep a distance in an effort to defend against his long arms, which he tries and fails to swat at you. You charge at him full speed to knock him over into the leaves.
His arms circle your waist trapping you with him as he falls. When his big body hits the ground with a thud you laugh and try pushing off of him. But his arms don’t loosen, instead they slide down your waist and squeeze. Your breath momentarily stalls and you look into Benny’s eyes, his pupils blown with a thin blue outer layer. The smell of his Irish Spring soap encases you.
“Benny?” You say his name like a question hoping he’ll clue you in.
“Sugar.” He responds lowering his pupils to your lips, the sudden transition causing you to lick your lips.
Benny groans low and you feel it through your hands on his chest. Your faces almost touch but neither of you make the first move. He nudges your nose before turning his head to press his lips to yours. Despite this being your first kiss with him you wanted more. Your body pressed into his, closing what little distance you had between you. His left-hand glides up your body to grab the back of your neck, keeping you there.
You lick his bottom lip wanting to feel everything from him. Thinking you’re dominating the kiss, you eagerly lick into his mouth. Letting out all of your unabashed moans, Benny presses your hips to his groin needing to feel friction. You decide to pull back and sit up much to Benny’s dismay, the string of spit connecting you two brings a hazy look to his eye. You bring your knees up to either side of his hips, and before he can ask why you’re back on him.
Benny doesn’t give you the upper hand this time, his warm tongue sliding back into your mouth like it’s supposed to be there. You feel a pulse in your core that only gets more incessant with Benny exploring your mouth. You begin rocking your hips against his in an attempt to relieve the thrumming, but all it does is make you more needy. The kiss deteriorates since you can’t keep up with Benny’s mouth, not when your clit is rubbing against his zipper so deliciously.
“M’sorry it feels so good.” You let out before biting your lip to quiet the sounds.
“Show me.” Benny raises his thumb to your lip to release it. “Lemme hear you.”
Your eyes must be pitch black looking down at Benny while you hump him like a possessive dog. Benny’s hands find their way to your hips again, squeezing and pressing his bulge against your clit. He groans as you rub yourself against him faster, he loves the look of your scrunched-up face and pouty lips.
“You feel what you do to me?” He asks you while staring at you intensely.
“Fuck,” His mouth is hung open, letting out the prettiest moans just for you.
Another jolt of arousal heads straight down to your core, your panties are dripping. The wet spot on Benny’s pants from you grows, you would be embarrassed but your dignity left the moment his tongue went in your mouth. With your hands on his chest, you can feel the string within you about to snap. When you feel it snap your hips stutter and your hands find purchase on his biceps. Although your mouth is open you have no idea if you’re screaming or not, your hearing temporarily goes out.
You both stare at each other with blown pupils and puffy lips. Unsure of how to proceed both of you remain unmoved, the surrounding nature seems to follow suit. Benny sits up placing his palms behind him to nudge your nose again.
“I love you,” He pauses slightly “And not in a platonic way, I wanna marry you. I had a lot of time to think and all I thought about was you. I was counting the days to see you cause I missed you so bad. I mean we’re already halfway there.”
Benny’s confession leaves your heart beating so rapidly that you think he hears it too. You suppose you two are more than halfway there. The friendship you share is something intimate, not in a friendly way either more like a married couple that’s been together decades and knows the other inside out.
“Is this your way of asking me on a date?” You stare at him, waiting for an answer.
“Only if you say yes.” His eyes never leave yours, you can feel the warmth in his gaze.
“Okay but only if you come back and spend the night with me.” You bargain, though you know he’ll say yes.
“I’m getting too old to shimmy up that tree?” He laughs at the memories of staying up all night talking.
“We’ll go through the front if you promise to stay fucking quiet.” You pointedly tell him before pulling back from the intimate position you were in.
Standing up you adjust your pants trying to make sure there are no visible wet spots on you. Even though there are none Benny takes off his hoodie, handing it to you without a word. The walk back is surprisingly quiet but it’s not awkward, not when Benny’s eyes keep finding their way to you. The full moon illuminates the back porch of your Grandparents' place. With all the lights off you and Benny go around to the front quietly making your way up the creaky porch steps.
Benny’s hands slide down your sides, hooking his fingers in your belt loops. You take it one step at a time so as to not chance waking anyone up. Your shadow follows your every step with his warm breath bearing down your neck. If you weren’t as professional as you were he would’ve tripped you up. Once safely in your room the breath you were holding releases itself. Sebastien’s head pops up from where he lays on your bed, more specifically your side of the bed.
“I’m taking a shower you coming?” Without giving him a chance to answer you begin taking off your clothes on the way to the bathroom.
Benny wastes no time pulling off his clothes and placing them in one pile before joining you. He gets in before the water’s scorching, the feeling of your hand gripping his bicep before you slip in has him making room for you.
“Benny it’s freezing,” You shiver while gripping his biceps harder.
“Sugar it’s 90 degrees outside why do you even want hot water.” He’s just as confused as you.
“Because it isn’t 1800 we have air conditioning now.” You gently move Benny to the side, and he lets you get closer to the now steaming water.
With you in front, you take advantage of the hot water beating against your skin. When you turn around to face Benny again he rushes you into a heated kiss, his soft lips melting against yours. His hands cup your ass sending your hips straight into his. Benny backs you against the tile before lifting you.
“This what you want?” You don’t answer Benny with words instead grabbing the back of his neck to bring his lips to yours.
He lines himself up with your entrance before slowly sinking himself inside you. The groan he lets out vibrates against your chest. Benny’s cock stretches you in the most delicious way, you can no longer focus on the kiss and throw your head back against the tile. Benny takes the time to focus on your neck, licking and sucking on your sensitive spots to loosen you up for him.
“You’re perfect,” His sudden declaration has you clenching down on him. Benny’s hips begin to speed up, frantically humping into your own. The sound of your pussy keeping up with Benny was drowned out by the water. “Look at me,” Benny demands of you while his hips drive into you.
When your eyes meet his, he tells you, “I love you.”
With your mouth hanging open you return the sentiment, your hips driving into his on pure instinct. Benny’s hands grip your hips in a way that will bruise tomorrow but right now he can’t bring himself to care. He places his focus on the way your tits bounce every time he connects his hips to yours. Before he can warn you, ropes of cum shoot out deep inside your pussy. The rocking of his hips slows until you're both panting against one another.
Benny releases you to the ground but keeps his hands on you knowing you’ll need some assistance. He takes your washcloth and douses it in whatever scented body soap you have on your shelf. He rubs it thoroughly throughout your body creating suds that make your body even more inviting. He’s gentle while cleaning up the mess he made. Once you’re finished he quickly washes himself before dragging the both of you out.
Your eyes are barely open while he puts one of his shirts on you. He travels over to the drawer dedicated to him, pulling out a pair of boxers to sleep in. As he slides in bed behind you he kisses your neck before wrapping an arm around you.

Another Idea: Sf Gang + Travis with a s/o who loves hugging them from behind and sometimes picking them up (bonus points if s/o is shorter than the characters)
Gn reader too please
SAL FISHER
Sally loves getting hugs from the behind by you. He loves being able to feel your arms wrapped around him tightly in such a loving manner that he can’t help but melt into.
He does the same thing with you as well! He’s can be mostly surprise hugs that you two end up laughing about.
Suddenly picking him up however can be a different story. How in the world did you manage to lift him up right off his feet just like so? Like you just carried him bridal style out of the blue without any issues or struggles? HOW!?
Oh well, Sally one complaining though. Like I said, he LOOOOVES being carried around like a pretty little princess😏
LARRY JOHNSON
Girlish screams shall be heard when you give him surprise hugs from the behind. He’s so dramatic with he and it just makes this a whole lot better!
He also joins in on the hugs but you don’t react all crazy like he does. He just gets scared easily leave him aloneeee.
You should’ve seen his face when you threw him over your shoulder so swiftly. He never felt so humbled before in his life. In his adult years he is kinda jacked out so how in the world did his shorter partner lift him up so easily??
You the hulk fr fr…it got Larry thinking about his life rn. But I gotta say he doesn’t dislike the fact about getting carried around. Maybe he too enjoys acting like a little princess!
TODD MORRISON
Todd doesn’t mind the back hugs, finding them adore coming from you which he also joins in on as well. He just loves it when you show your affection to him lovingly.
While he’s on the computer and he feels your arms wrap around him he just knows that today is gonna be another good day!
Let’s just say that when he’s on that computer for WAAAY to long he gets greeted off the ground by you. You just carry him out of his room as he struggles to get out of your grasp helplessly (which you find funny and adoring.)
Todd can’t help but kinda enjoy being carried about and coddled by you. It’s comforting for him and also very relaxing!
ASHLEY CAMPBELL
Ashley loves all the hugs you give her, who wouldn’t love affection from the love of their life? Ash would turn around and hug you back while she is facing forward and laugh alongside with you.
Ash also loves it when you carry her around, she finds it hilariously cute! You being shorter than her and being able to carry her so easily without any problems just makes her feel so giddy!
Hey, at least she can tell you that her feet are killing her due from long walks around the mall just to get you to lift her right off her feet in no time!
Ash loves the things that you do—it’s what makes her love you even more!
TRAVIS PHELPS
He gets bashful at the feeling of you hugging him no matter what. He just can’t help but return those hugs right back to you awkwardly.
Now, the hugs were fine—fine in til you done picked him up out of nowhere and ran with him in your arms that is. Travis was in utter shock and embarrassment at you being able to carry him so swiftly like that.
It also makes him flustered to know that despite you being shorter than him, you swooped him off his feet and into your arms like so.
Definitely struggling to get out of your grasp but is failing so miserably. It takes him a bit to just accept his fate and the fact that he isn’t going to be able to break out of your grip for some time…

can you do #5&6 where jamie is comforting his girlfriend?
5. “Why are you crying?”
6. “Talk to me.”
Is this self indulgent... yes... now continue
You didn't know when it started. You just felt so hopeless. It'd been months since you lost your job, leaving you unemployed. You had been so high. Doing so well. Happy, healthy, in love. Now you could barely leave your bed, much less force yourself to cook or work out.
It came to a head today when you finally decided to leave the house and ended up with a parking ticket. A parking ticket. You stared at the ticket in despair. This had to be a sign that you never needed to leave your house again.
"Goddamnit, god fucking damnnit," You cursed to yourself, feeling that thickness in your throat that always indicated you were about to lose it.
You crumpled up the ticket in your hand and slammed the door to your car, finally going inside the house. You headed straight to your room, not even noticing that Jamie was home.
"Hey babe what's goin- Woah!" Jamie didn't even have time to process what was going on when you ran straight past him and closed the door to your room. He could hear you sniffling on the other side of the door and it broke his heart.
He walked over to the door and leaned against the wall, knocking softly. "Babe? Why are you crying?"
"Go away, Jamie," you croaked from behind the door.
Well he wasn't gonna do that. He frowned leaning his forehead against the door. "I"m not going away until you let me in." You were quiet on the other side of the door. No noises except for the occasional sob. "And if you don't tell me what's wrong I'll just start singing and not stop."
That drew a little giggle out of you but you still didn't open the door.
"Alright, you've asked for it," Jamie took a big breath. "AND I! HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE! AND I NEVER FELT THIS WAY BEFORE! AND I SWEAR! IT'S THE TRUTH! AND I'M HOLDING ONTO YOOOU!"
You door flew open and you appeared, your eyes red from tears but at least the door was opened.
"Okay, okay, I'm here just..." You let out a large sigh and let Jamie into the room.
You sat on the floor, back resting on your bed frame. Jame came over to sit next to you, looking down at you.
"Hey," He nudged you. "Talk to me."
You frowned and shook your head, speaking quietly. "I just don't think I was meant to be unemployed."
Now it was Jamie's turn to frown. He knew you weren't doing well on that front, but no matter how many times he reassured you that it would be okay, you still ended up in your head about it.
"And I get it, a lot of people are unemployed right now, okay I do?" It was like you'd read his mind. "But I'm sick of it. I was doing so well! So well. And now what? I get up lay around then go to bed at night? I just... I need to have some purpose, Jamie. Something that gives me worth. And today," You held up the crumpled piece of paper. "I got a fucking parking ticket. First time I've left the house in like weeks and this happens."
Jamie let the two of you sit in silence for a minute. He let you cry, just sitting there next to you, letting you know he was there.
"Well give me this," he snatched the ticket out of your hand. "I can take care of this."
"Jamie, I don't need you to-"
"Well I want to. I love paying parking tickets. Do you know how many parking ticket's Colin's got?" He laughed. "A lot. And as for the rest of it. It sucks. A lot." He wrapped an arm around you and tugged you into his side. "But you don't need a job to give you worth. Keeley told me that once and it seemed true enough for me but for you it's definitely true." You chuckled, tearfully. Jamie squeezed your extra tight, wrapping another arm around your waist for extra squeezage. "You're worth a lot to me. Like waaay more than any job could give you."
You smiled, finally, giving in to Jamie's affection. You shoved your face into his chest, letting him hold on to you. He kissed your head, rubbing up and down your back with his hand.
"Thank you, Jamie," You mutter, nuzzling deeper into his chest.
Jamie's heart swelled, happy that he could provide you with some comfort. He leaned down and peppered kisses across your head. "Always, baby, always."

Tumblr media
The whirring of the helicopter blades echoed in  your ears as you hopped down, landing in a crouch on the tarmac next to Sergeant Soap, Lieutenant Ghost and Captain Price. You shifted the heavy pack on her shoulders as you approached the two soldiers standing a few meters away ready to welcome Squad 141. There was a woman, only slightly taller than you smirking as you all approached, her hands behind her back. Your eyes slide up, higher, to the behemoth standing next to her. Your nerves went on high alert, seeing that not only was this man simply massive, bordering on seven feet, but he hid his face away under a dark hood, with only two holes for him to see through.
“Captain Price, Squad 141, welcome!” Roze said, holding out her hand for Price to shake.
“Thanks for having us!” Price shouted over the heli. “On behalf of the 141, we’re happy to have KorTac on our side!”
Roze smirked, “we happen to share a common enemy, one we hope to eliminate as soon as possible.” Captain waved his hand to his subordinates, “this is part of my team. Sergeant John “Soap” McTavish, sniper and bomb specialist.  Lieutenant Ghost, sabotage, and our field medic, Y/N L/N.”
Roze smirked, “good thing you brought another medic with you, his guy always finds a way to hurt himself.”
Roze nudged the silent man, causing him to lose his composure for a moment. You looked up into his eyes, finding them to be purest of greens, along with the nervous anxiety behind them. ‘He’s nervous, this big guy?’ you thought. Your dissecting gaze wanders across his body, noting his nervous ticks until narrowing down on the poorly wrapped wound on his left hand. You cocked her head to the side with a frown.
“You’re bleeding,” you noted matter-of-factly, pointing to his hand.
The man straightened, hiding his wounded hand behind his back, avoiding your gaze.
“I-It’s fine,” he said, his voice deep and rumbly but riddled with an accent.
You cocked a brow and with a sigh, you approached the soldier, slapping him on the shoulder, having to fully extend your arm in order to reach.
“Let’s go get that checked out soldier, can't you catch tetanus before the big mission,” you said, trying to sound firm.
Konig looked down at Roze in shock, before turning to follow you, even though you had no idea where you were going in his foreign base.
The group watched the duo disappear into the building, Price with a permanent frown.
“You sure it’s a good idea having that guy on this?” He said skeptically.
Roze’s expression became serious, “he’s one of the best -- his methods may be a bit unorthodox, but he gets the job done.”
“Yea, we heard of his methods,” Price said, “and know that we’ll be keeping a close eye on ‘im.”
“We’ve heard our own rumors, Captain,” Roze’s gaze became serious. “Rumors that you’re harboring some precious cargo. Something that can’t make it into the enemy's hands.”
Price frowned, “rumors aren’t word.”
“I’m just saying, if KorTac and the 141 are going to be working together, transparency is only fair,” Roze said.
Price crossed his arms with a small smirk, “that’s need to know, Sergeant.”
→
König pushed open the door into the infirmary office, away from the row of beds that lay empty. He stepped aside, allowing you entry first, his posture rigid. You walked past, dropping your pack by the desk with a heavy sigh. You rolled one of the chairs over, plopping down into it before rummaging through your pack. Your eyes cast over to the door, finding the hooded man had not even crossed the threshold.
“Hey big guy,” you called with a smile, “can’t fix your hand from the door.”
You could almost see the man thinking before finally entering the room, having to duck his head under the entrance. He still kept his distance, so you pulled the second chair across from you before patting the seat.
“Take a seat,” you said, your voice calming. “I promise I won't bite.”
The man didn’t move for another second, before finally conceding and sat across from you, his knees curled underneath him. You continued to prep your utensils, grabbing rubbing alcohol, cotton balls and gauze. Finally looking up at the man, you held up your palm with a small smile, wordlessly asking for his wound. The hooded man held open his hand, revealing the bloody gauze poorly wrapped around his palm. His hand alone dwarfed yours and for a moment, you pitied the man who was caught in between them.
You carefully began your work, your gaze trained at the messy work. König watched you carefully, his eyes lifting from your hands to your eyes, and then back again. He was shocked at your gentleness, it felt like a small bird jumping around in his palm.
“Sie sind kein großer Redner, oder?” You said, never taking your gaze from his palm.
König felt his spine stiffen as his eyes widened in shock. He leaned forward, his eyes sparkling in excitement.
“Sie können Deutsch?” he said.
You did well to hide your shock from the man’s deep voice, rumbling deep within his wide chest. You nodded nonetheless.
“Ich war eine Zeit lang in Berlin stationiert…picked up a few things,” you smiled.
König cursed himself for getting so excited over a little German, but for some reason…it sounded sweeter coming from your lips. The temperature rose from under his mask.
“They call me Wren.” You dabbed an alcohol soaked cotton ball on the cut. “Don’t ask me why, because I don’t even know. What do they call you?”
Wren…like the bird. It’s…fitting, Konig smiled underneath his hood.
“König,” he answered.
You nodded with a smile, “king. I can see it.”
Your gaze lifted up to the few scars peeking up from under the man’s long sleeve. They were small, most likely superficial.
“You suffer from anxiety, don’t you?” You frowned, seeing the man squirm under your gaze. “I can tell, you pick at your scabs when you heal, that’s why they scar.”
König stumbled over his words, “I-I-”
You smiled, patting him on the soldier, “it’s alright, I’ve seen it before. Nothing to be embarrassed about.”
König gaze stayed pinned on your small hand on his shoulder, feeling his skin becoming uncomfortably hot. Just as quickly as it was there, it was gone, your hand returning to wrapping his hand up properly this time. You were finished in no time, quicker than König would have hoped. You grinned, placing your hands on your knees, admiring your work.
“All finished,” you said, “the wound didn’t go too deep but I’ll prescribe you some antibiotics to help with the swelling. If you need some painkillers don’t hesitate to ask.”
König nodded, standing to his feet, “thank you, Wren.”
You nodded your head, “anytime, but maybe not all the time. If you were in here all the time, I think I’ll get a little worried.”
König felt his heart skip a beat. Worried? About him? No one worried about him. He broke eye contact, desperately taking his leave, lowering his head as he left the office, leaving you to your own devices. You listened as he left into the hall, his heavy footsteps fading away until nothing. You let out a sigh you didn’t know you were holding, swinging to face your desk. The man was no less than intimidating with his tear-streaked hood. You were almost positive that his enemies saw that hood in their nightmares, and you prayed to whatever god that you wouldn’t succumb to that punishment.
“Well, better get to work.”
→
You had finished unpacking all of your medical supplies in the very barren infirmary, deciding to do some sprucing up around the beds, even opening up a few of the curtains to let in the fading sunlight. The infirmary seemed like it was almost abandoned, making you wonder if KorTac even had a resident medic to begin with.
“Well that would explain the poorly treated cut,” you grumbled, folding one of the sheets before placing it on the cot.
You head turned hearing a knock on the door frame, seeing Soap standing at the threshold.
“‘Bout time you got in,” you smiled.
“Not my fault, Gaz got the coordinates wrong,” Soap smirked.
“I highly doubt our Gaz had anything to do with it,” you snorted. “How can I help you, McTavish?”
You watched his expression become a bit more serious, which was a rare feat from the Scot. He leaned against the frame, his arms crossed.
“Wanted to check in on ya, lass. See how you’re holding up,” he said.
You frowned, before picking up another blanket to fold to distract yourself.
“I’m fine, as fine as one could be in my situation,” you sighed.
“It’s okay not to be,” Soap approached. “No one would blame you.”
“Oh,” anger bubbled in your gut, “but I do.”
“Wren-”
“If I had just stayed put,” you nearly whispered, eyes screwed shut, “hell, even closed my fucking eyes, we wouldn’t be in this mess.”
“It’s your fault, Wren,” Soap said sternly. “It couldn’t have been prevented. It was just…wrong place, bad timing.”
You scoffed, a sad smile on your lips, happy your back was turned to your comrade so he couldn’t see the tears welling in your eyes.
“Yeah. Bad timing.”
Soap frowned, “listen, grub’s at 1800 hours. Price doesn’t feel really comfortable having to move around this big base on your own, so he’ll send someone for you.”
Hearing this you whirred around, your brow furrowed, “now I need a babysitter?”
Soap scratched his nape, “not my orders, Wren.”
You felt your shoulder slump in defeat. Soap puts a hand on your shoulder, giving you a gentle shake.
“Don’t worry, things will be back to normal in no time, you’ll see,” he said with a hopeful smile.
All you could do was nod, “and what about my sleeping quarters?”
“König will take you,” Soap waved, “big fella practically volunteered.”
Your ears perked at the mention of the tall Austrian.
“Just…be careful around ‘im? The man gives me the heebie jeebies,” Soap grumbled.
“Yeah, yeah,” you dismissed the thought.
From the short time you sat with the man, he seemed to have not a bad bone in his body. But of course, there had to be, or else he wouldn’t be here. Again, at the thought of the behemoth, you thanked him for being on your team. He volunteered? You felt like a giddy school girl, but you quickly squash such feelings, busying yourself back into fixing up the infirmary.
The sunlight had all but faded from the windows as you sat back at your desk, typing away at some files you needed to catch up on. Files weren’t the only thing to catch up on. You couldn’t remember the last time you had a good night’s sleep. You tried at first, but the nights dissolved into restless turning, riddled with nightmares. What you saw that day replaying over and over again behind your eyelids. Eventually it was just easier to just stay awake.
Your exhaustion was more than evident on your face. Dark bags underneath your eyes, your complexion paler than normal. It definitely had caught the attention of the others, Price sending you a pitying look now and then, ordering you to take a break. But you couldn’t. Work was the only thing that took your mind off things. Whether it be the gym, the range, or any meaningless task, you needed them all. You wished for things to go back to normal, the days where you could laugh wholeheartedly when Soap and Ghost would compete to see who had the worst jokes. You missed betting with Gaz at the range, missed being able to take a shower without the worry of someone waiting to take you out, standing just behind the curtain.
You let out a yelp hearing a gentle knock on the door, your head whipping around to see König standing within it, his head lowered.
“I’m sorry,” his watery gaze never wavered from yours, “I didn’t mean to startle you.”
You raised a hand to your chest, willing your breathing to slow before smiling up at him.
“For a big guy, you sure have light feet,” you laughed, sliding your glasses from the bridge of your nose. “Is it grub time already?”
König shook his head, “not quite. I wanted to show you to your room before then.”
You nodded, standing and picking up your pack, that was much lighter than before, thankfully.
“Sounds like a plan, lead the way,” you gestured.
You followed König down the hall, fighting off the exhaustion that made your head fuzzy. You walked on, turning corner after corner, hardly coming by anyone until finally König stopped in front of a door, stepping aside. You nodded in thanks, stepping inside. The room was bare bones, to be expected, only having a single bed and a desk. You threw your pack on the desk, stretching your arms over your head, some of your bones cracking causing you to let out a small whimper.
König felt his mouth go dry hearing you. He couldn’t stop when he mind quickly went somewhere it shouldn’t have been. Thoughts of you trapped underneath his hulking body, dragging more whimpers, louder ones. König choked on his saliva, catching your doe like eyes to his.
“Something wrong?” You asked.
König shook his head, holding up his palms, “a-ah, nothing! I’ll be out here once you’re ready.”
With that, König left the room, closing the door behind him. You smiled, shaking your head. You peeled off your armor, piece by piece. Finally you completely stripped down, letting out a groan at the long awaited freedom. You looked over your body, feeling over the scattered scars, big and small. You let out a sigh, digging out another set of clothes, something you could be a little more comfortable in.
You placed your glasses back on the desk, before turning to open the door. Konig stood against the wall, his arms folded behind his back as if he were a guard. Well, for all intended purposes, he was. Konig turned to you, wrapping up your hair into a messy bun, looking up at him.
“Ready, König?”
The man felt his chest tighten as you looked up at him. Have you always been this small? Compared to him you were tiny, like a-
“Maus,” the word slipped past his lips before he could even stop it.
König could feel his face become hot as he instantly took his gaze off your shocked expression, trying to find the words to make an excuse. Anything, any excuse.
“Mouse?” You said with a teasing smile, leaning over to look up into his eyes. “Hm, I guess that makes sense.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you,” König said, not daring to look you in the eye.
You chuckled, patting the poor man on the shoulder.
“It’s alright, not offended at all, Bär.”
You brushed past him, looking over your shoulder at him.
“As long as we can keep it between us,” your eyes squinted as you smiled, “gotta make sure these idiots stay in line somehow, right?”
König felt his chest swell and you could see his eyes squint, telling you there was a smile underneath the threatening hood. “Natürlich Maus.”

RADIO SILENCE ,, chap 04 — ''wanna hear a joke?''
Tumblr media
synopsis. hwang y/n and park sunghoon do not like each other. end of story. god knows why (well actually, niki is the only one who knows why). but when they’re put as co-hosts on a radio show, they’re bound to bond.

you walked into the room, sunghoon already there. he looked at you coldly, faking a smile.
“hi” you grunted, hanging your jacket on the chair “what’s up?”
his gaze lingered on you suspiciously, sensing the non-genuine tone of the question.
“could’ve been better” was all he said. you sat down, looking at the clock.
“same. i’m not happy i’m here, either” you murmured, causing him to scoff.
“i figured that much” he grunted, taking off his jacket too. he put it away somewhere and let out a deep sigh, looking at you “be honest with me: did you for his purposely?”
“did i do what? i literally had no idea about this until they announced it. i’d never want to do this willingly” you huffed, poking his arm “but i guess i get to bully you so that’s nice”
“i literally did not want to see you on my own eyes ever again… what did i do in past life to deserve this?” sunghoon dramatically raised his hands up, a sudden beep announcing you’ll be live soon “don’t mess this up”
“me? i’m a great host, i don’t know what do you mean” you grunted and put on your headphones, scanning the song list. no guests today, what a shame “it’s you who’s stiff all the time”
“shut up, that’s not true” he hissed, putting his head piece on. the sign ‘on air’ turned red and you looked at sunghoon.
he was silent, dead silent, looking at you confused. you scoffed, shocked at your own reaction. why did he look cute though?
“hello and welcome back everyone! i hope you didn’t miss us too much… well, me to be specific” you hummed into the mic, sending him a playful look. that’s what triggered him to speak, finally.
“hey! i think our listeners love me waaay more than you” he puffed his chest, causing you to roll your eyes.
“well, i doubt that. anyway…” you hummed, trying to think of something to win audience over. that’s your road to success and you’re only here to promote your album, right? you have to come up with something– you got it. “wanna hear a joke?”
“hit me” sunghoon deadpanned, no smile whatsoever. you quickly tried to recall a funny joke and cursed jaemin for his lame ass ones that were the only ones coming to your mind right now.
“knock knock” you said, maintaining eye-contact with your co-host.
“who’s there?” he asked, frowning.
“an owl” you mumbled. sunghoon let out a disappointed sigh.
“who?”
you giggled, the joke sounding out loud way better than in jaemin’s twitter bio.
“that was so lame. anyway, to save you and myself from this hell… next up we have stray kids and their ‘s-class’” sunghoon announced and copied the part of choreography that spelled the title. you followed him, trying to find the camera.
when you finally did, you winked at it. the sign turned grey, causing him to took off his headphones.
“that was so fucking lame” he scoffed again, grabbing his phone
“like your mom” you grunted in response, producer choi suddenly walked into the room.
“i have an idea! what do you say about making a tiktok with the song you just announced? it seems like both of you know the s-class choreo, right?” he asked. you nodded your head, standing up.

A Clear and Present Threat of Tongue
Sooooo this idea shook me like a rag doll and wouldn't let me go until I got it all out, this is a Steddie Stranger Things New Girl AU taking place during the first kiss episode between Jess and Nick. But its waaay longer and more angsty than I anticipated. So.
Enjoy!
It’s all Gareth's fault in hindsight.
As his best friend and confidant, Gareth really should have taken Eddie’s feelings into account when he suggested a party out loud in front of everyone.
Not that the party was a particularly bad idea, parties had been prime money making opportunities in the years before - although that had certainly dwindled, what with the murder accusations and earthquakes.
And Eddie was trying to make it a point of avoiding dealing around the kids or Hoppers disapproving glare.
So no, it wasn't so much the party.
Steve had taken it upon himself to host, as per usual, and everyone had been invited. The gremlins, Nancy and Jonathan, Argyle, Gareth, Jeff, and Robin of course without question. Gareth brought Megan Walsh with him while Robin brought another underclassman, Vickie something, she seemed cool - a little quiet for Eddie's taste but that wouldn’t be the only reason she didn’t do it for him.
Nah, Eddie was looking for something a little taller, louder, with big brown eyes and plush pink lips he wanted to sink his teeth into and an ass that wouldn’t quit even if he begged.
And Eddie didn’t beg.
It was an end of summer pool party that had extended beyond the warm sunshine and moved into the main house when the last few rays had swapped for the cool twilight of the evening.
There had been no shortage of food and drinks and a few tokes in the garage from the decent Cali strain Argyle had brought with him. The kids had gone to bed one by one leaving the rest of them to move down to the basement as Steve had put it, ‘to keep the noise to a minimum while the little shits sleep’.
The combination of weed and beer had them floating in the sweet-spot, not that everyone had partaken - Argyle and Jonathan stuck to weed only while the girls nursed their beers.
Eddie, Gareth and Jeff were the only three that were on the floor and feeling alright by the time midnight had rolled around.
“We should play a game,” Gareth says, blurting out the words from his place on the floor, he’s grinning a little with glazed eyes and wild hair splayed around his head like a halo.
And this, this should have been Eddie’s first warning.
Now Uncle Wayne had a great rule, a fantastic rule, ‘Nothing good ever happens after midnight kiddo, remember that’.
Eddie should have listened to the old man.
Jeff hums lightly from the floor and Megan perks up at the idea, shifting up to the edge of the couch, trying to catch Gareth's glazed eyes.
"What kind of game?" She says, her voice lilting and curious, Eddie smirks and elbows Gareth in the side.
Gareth huffs out a groan at the contact and rolls slightly to level a glare at the metal-head, Eddie raises his eyebrows and darts his eyes from Gareth to Megan before raising a single eyebrow.
Go for it man!
Gareth cocks his head, a confused expression pulling at his brow as his red eyes pan from Eddie to the other side of the room and back again.
Nowhere near Megan.
Just as Eddie makes to turn to wherever Gareth is looking, a small grin blooms on his best friend's otherwise lax face, the bassist sits up with a groan and shakes out his own wild mane of curls.
"Truth or Dare?"
"Choice game brochacho," Argyle laughs from the loveseat he's laid out across, Jonathan nods with his eyes closed. Everyone seems pleased with the situation if the chorus of 'sure's', and  'sounds good,' is anything to go by.
Even Steve - who Eddie can’t help but notice has also stuck to beer most of the night and seems slightly tipsy as he wanders over from the far side of the room and drops onto the floor beside him.
Steve says a quiet, 'cool,' as he brings his one knee up to his chest to lean on.
He smells of spice and pine tonight and Eddie fights the urge to curl against him.
Nancy volunteers to go first and picks dare, surprising everyone except for Jonathan and Steve, who laugh as Robin stumbles her way through crafting the perfect task for Nancy to perform.
Vickie whispers into Robin’s ear which elicits a delicate blush that settles over Robin’s cheeks and ears as she settles back against the couch with a soft smile.
“We dare you to do a cartwheel!” Robin crows, laying out her palm towards Vickie who immediately gives her an unapologetic high-five, Eddie rolls his eyes and nudges Steve beside him.
“I expected better than that coming from Buckley,” he says just slightly over a whisper level if the death glare Robin shoots at him is any indication, Steve snorts and takes another sip of his drink.
“She’s just warming up Munson, you better watch out or you’ll paint a target on your back,” Steve stage whispers back, winking as he turns his attention to Nancy who has cleared a pathway next to their little circle to attempt her cartwheel.
Eddie swallows and tries to fight down the blush that threatens to creep over his face.
Fuck. He is so unfairly pretty.
Steve's hair is remarkably untidy this evening, and his ears are slightly pink from the alcohol, and his stupid perfect jawline makes Eddie want to bite something - preferably Steve.
He’s wearing one of his little polo’s, a light yellow number that accentuates his bright brown eyes and the dotting of moles and freckles dappling his face.
Oh yeah, Eddie’s a goner.
Nancy manages to half somersault and land on all fours before jumping to her feet in an Olympic pose that draws a mix of laughter and applause from the group. Eddie watches as Steve puts down his drink and politely claps as he smiles indulgently at Nancy, Eddie frowns slightly as he tamps down a flicker of jealousy that builds in his chest.
He misses Robin stand up and stride towards Nancy before leaning in to whisper in her ear with a predatory grin. Nancy’s eyes drift from Robin to Eddie and back again, she nods once and turns back to the group, her facial expression betraying nothing.
“Oh dude, you’re in for it now,” Steve murmurs to Eddie as Nancy and Robin resume their seats in the circle.
“What?” Eddie says as Nancy clears her throat and smiles at him, it's cutthroat and shark-like and Eddie is suddenly reminded why he’s always found Nancy intimidating.
“Eddie, truth or dare?” Nancy says in a silky voice, Jonathan seems to freeze at the tone and attempts to catch his eye, shaking his head like a mad-man and slicing a finger across his throat again and again, while Steve laughs softly beside him.
“Uh, Pft, Dare Wheeler,” Eddie says with a scoff and a wide grin, he stands up and starts stretching his arms across his chest, before cracking his neck and shaking out his shoulders, “just need to loosen up first here,” he claps his hands together, “okay what sort of gymnastics you got for me miss Nancy?”
Jonathan smacks his face into his hand in the corner while Robin giggles to Vickie, Eddie catches a few muttered words, but nothing concrete. Judging from the red face and ‘O’ shaped mouth that Vickie sends his way, it's definitely not good.
Nancy clears her throat and waves her hand to catch his attention again, “eyes this way Munson,” she says slyly, and Eddie is suddenly sweating.
“Eddie Munson, I dare you to take the person sitting closest to you into the spare bedroom for seven minutes in heaven.
No one says a word for a moment.
Eddie wishes for the basement floor to open and swallow him whole. He stares at the plush fibers of the rug, wondering if it would be at all possible to smother himself by pushing his face into the carpet.
He absolutely refuses to look at Steve.
The only person sitting beside him.
He should have listened to the old man.
***
Eddie paces the small space again and again, its five steps from wall to wall and it does nothing to ease the tension in the room. He tries to figure out how to tamp down the seemingly permanent flush that has stained his face since the two of them were pushed into the room.
The door has been unceremoniously slammed shut behind them and a chorus of eight voices chant, ‘Kiss, Kiss, Kiss!’ over and over outside their temporary prison.
Damn Gareth for suggesting this stupid game, damn Nancy and Robin for conspiring against him and damn himself for his ridiculous delusional fantasy.
Steve Harrington would never want to kiss someone like him, even if he did swing that way.
This was stupid and awful, damn everything.
Steve scoffs from his position on the foot of the bed, startling Eddie slightly.
“What is the big deal,” Steve sounds much more sober, and a lot more tired now that it's just the two of them, “lets just suck it up and french a little?”
Eddie nearly feels himself short-circuit at the words.
He resists the urge to smack his head into the door and slowly turns on his heel to face Steve.
His expression is bored, if slightly irritated to be stuck in this situation, but his arms are draped loosely on the bed and his shoulders are relaxed.
Huh. Not nervous then, but there is something else…
Eddie sighs and scrubs a ringed hand across his face, "Okay fine, but don’t say suck it up and french a little--"
"Do not complain to me Munson," Steve grumbles, his voice suddenly tight, "this is your fault. Let’s just do this," he shakes his hands out, Eddie notes the slightest tremor that runs over his left hand but it disappears the longer Eddie's gaze remains on it.
Fuck.
"Okay, okay, no, Steve this is not a big deal," Eddie says, his tone is light but gentle as he crosses over to the bed, he holds out his hands for Steve to take.
Steve's eyes travel from his hands to Eddie's face, and back again. His expression flickers once before shuttering into the same bored expression from earlier. Steve clasps his hands once and squeezes them briefly before letting go and standing up to face Eddie.
"Right…not a big deal, let's just do it," Steve mumbles as he breathes out, he closes his eyes briefly and Eddie's never been this close before, he can count the freckles on his nose, "just do it Eds".
Oh god, oh god, he’s about to kiss Steve Harrington, this is fine, it's fine. It’s just a stupid party game, he can do this, he can be cool.
Eddie takes a deep breath, and raises his hands to grasp Steve by the shoulders before smoothing them down his arms, he leaves them loosely wrapped around his biceps, and Okay who the Hell gave him the right?
Focus.
He licks his lips and swallows his nerves, he can do this, he can do this!
Steve frowns, “Why are you licking your lips?” his voice pitched with confusion.
He can’t do this.
“Should I not?” Eddie manages to say without stuttering, he coats his voice with false bravado as he rolls his shoulders and widens his stance, “you want dry lips Harrington?”
Steve scowls, “No”.
“Then I’m just licking them to make them better!”
A pinched expression blooms over Steve’s face at the sudden rise in volume in Eddie’s words, he resists the urge to wipe the clammy sweat from his hands and instead lifts them from Steve’s biceps to his shoulders before placing his hands on the sides of Steve's face. Eddie’s fingers curl up into his hair behind each ear and Eddie swears for a moment he can feel Steve tilt his head into his hands -just slightly.
“Ready?” Eddie murmurs, the earlier bravado gone as his eyes dart back and forth between Steve’s own. He’s looking just slightly up at Eddie, the barest hint of a smile playing on his lips.
“Ready,” Steve affirms with a small nod that jostles Eddie's hands.
“Okay,” Eddie breathes out through his nose slowly, “1, 2 -- I’m actually not going to do a count,” he lets go of Steve’s face, it’s too much, it’s ridiculous and Eddie feels as though he’s about to fly apart at any moment.
Steve doesn’t move but his eyes trail after Eddie's hands as they fall from his face before coming back up to meet Eddie’s gaze, “Okay?”
Eddie swallows, it feels like glass going down, this is not how he saw his night going, “That's not my style, when I kiss, I don’t, I don’t count down…”
Steve snorts and smiles slightly, biting his lip as he says, “Okay”.
Eddie breathes in sharply as Steve releases his lip to speak, he shakes his head once and reaches out with slightly unsteady hands, to grip Steve’s face once more, “Ready?”
Steve nods again, “Yes,” he’s looking up at Eddie with those warm brown eyes and long lashes and Eddie feels like he's going to faint.
Just move, he thinks to himself, just kiss him and then he can leave, never darken the door of the Harrington house again. He can pretend this never happened and go back to pining from afar.
Eddie steels himself and tilts his head as he leans in slowly, he sweeps his thumb across Steve’s cheekbone, he can do this, he can do this. He continues moving forward as Steve suddenly rears back with a gasp.
There’s a slight tremor in his voice, as Steve says, “I’m, I’m sorry, you can’t do that…”
Eddie jerks backwards, “What did I do?” he cries out, he flings his hands away from Steve’s face, holding them up in something akin to surrender. He wracks his brain, running through the last thirty seconds, trying to think of what could have freaked Steve out this badly.
“Your fa-” Steve starts before clamping his mouth shut with a sharp click. He’s curling in on himself now, one arm slides up from his side to grasp his other arm.
It’s Eddie’s turn to stare.
“Were you, were you going to say my face?” Eddie says quietly, stepping back from Steve entirely, his now empty fists clench and unclench at his sides. There’s a flicker of anger an hurt in his chest, what the fuck did that mean?
They stare at each other for a moment, Eddie waits for Steve to elaborate but all he gets is a silent grimace.
“Yeah,” Steve says weakly, after a beat, his eyes anywhere but Eddie’s own, “you just…you can’t do that with your face dude”.
"Don’t call me dude right now," Eddie growls, breathing in deeply through his nose, this whole situation has been fucked from the start and he can't take it anymore. He's done.
“Okay, yeah, okay,” Eddie mutters before crossing the space to the closed door and pounding the flat of his palm against it, “Let me out of here!”
Behind him, Steve sighs as he moves over to the wall of the spare bedroom and slides down it until he’s seated with his legs splayed out.
But Eddie doesn't care, he doesn't. He had prepared himself for this, he knew Steve wouldn't possibly feel the same way and now it was definitive.
That didn't stop it from stinging.
Eddie growls as he tries for the handle again and the brass does nothing but rattle rather than turn.
“Why does this door lock from the outside? That can’t be safe,” Eddie mutters to himself as he turns away from the door to face Steve once more, he leans back against it and breathes out a sigh as the chorus of, ‘Kiss, Kiss, Kiss’ renews itself with vigor just outside.
Steve sighs again and raises both hands to rub down his face before dropping them heavily to the floor on either side of him, he stares at the wall for a moment before his expression flattens again.
He looks up at Eddie with determination in his eyes before bringing his legs up to stand.
“Okay,” Steve says softly, as he steps towards where Eddie is leaning against the door, “let’s just do this already, just kiss me--”
“No.” Eddie firmly huffs, he crosses his arms in front of his chest and nearly knocks his head against the door as he realizes there is nowhere else to go, “I don’t--I’m not gonna kiss you”.
Steve pauses in his approach, he seems so much smaller than normal, and Eddie hates every moment of this.
“Look, I’m sorry, okay?” Steve says quietly, he reaches up to pinch the tip of his nose and clears his throat, “you said it yourself, it’s not a big deal. If you don't want to do this that's, it's fine, you know how stubborn they are, I don't think they meant to lock the door--”
“I can’t--” Eddie cuts across him but Steve is still talking.
“I’m sorry that you got stuck with me,” Steve bites out, running a hand through his hair as he steps backwards now, away from Eddie, and sits on the end of the bed, “and I’m sorry that I got all weird just now, but--”
Eddie just can’t take it any longer.
“No Steve,” he says shrilly, not caring if the assholes outside the door are listening, not caring if the Loch Nora neighbors can hear him, not caring if the kids upstairs wake up, “It's, I just can’t, not like this!”
It takes a second for the words to register, they seem to float between them for a moment before each man registers what’s been said.
Steve stills on the bed, he doesn’t even look like he’s breathing, “What,” Steve says softly, “what, what does that mean?”
Oh Fuck.
“Nothing,” Eddie blurts out, his heart is racing, the air is stale and thin in the basement bedroom and Eddie feels like he can’t breathe, “I didn’t mean it like, I just, we can’t like that because it's not, you know?”
Steve stares at him from the bed, “...what?”
Eddie has to leave, he can’t be in this room anymore, pinned to the door by a pair of soft brown eyes that have pinched in the middle into a confused and terrible frown.
“If you’ll excuse me,” Eddie says quietly, briskly walking past Steve and the bed as he moves towards the far wall with the single window.
“Where are you going? Eddie!”
For the second time that night Eddie finds himself wishing he had listened to his old man.
Attempting to climb out the window of the basement spare bedroom may not have been his best plan; as he hoisted himself up to the ledge, which was already up a good five feet at least, and popped the screen off, deaf to whatever words Steve was hissing at him, Eddie found himself sitting halfway in a window-well.
About two feet from the open ground above.
And that was before his studded belt caught on the window ledge.
“Fucking hell,” Eddie grits out as he shifts backwards only for the belt to wrench him back into place, no, no, no, this couldn’t be happening.
He hears a sigh behind him along with a low string of curses as quiet footsteps move away towards the far side of the room. Seven knocks sound on what he can only assume is the door in a strange pattern that halts the chant from the basement sitting room. A muffled voice he can’t quite make out says something that Steve responds to.
“Open up the goddamn door Buckley or I’ll never cover another morning shift again, we have a situation in here,” he says in a small, defeated voice.
It all happens fairly quickly after that.
Between Jeff, Nancy, and Argyle’s careful maneuvering they manage to extricate him from the window and lower him back to the floor. Nothing had prepared Eddie for the hot, tight feeling that would fill his chest as Argyle and Jeff snicker and high-five once he is back on solid ground. Nancy is smiling but it doesn’t quite reach her eyes as she looks from Steve and back to Eddie, expression slowly morphing into one of concern.
Robin is standing with Steve, both of them lean against the far back wall by the now open door. They seem to be having an intense whisper fight that ends with Steve storming out back into the main sitting room.
Argyle knocks into him, suddenly draping an arm over Eddie’s shoulders and snatching his attention away from Robin and Steve. He herds Eddie forward on slightly unsteady legs to follow the rest of his rescue party as they all make their way out of the spare bedroom.
“That was freakin’ hilarious dude,” Argyle says with a warm laugh and bright, slightly hazy eyes,  “I mean Steve, Steve, he tried to climb out the window instead of kissing you, can you believe that?”
Steve stiffens from his new position on the loveseat but shakes his head after a beat and laughs; the sound rings hollow, a pale imitation to his usual beautiful laugh, “Eh, Robin just gets to add another tally to the ‘You Suck’ board, that’s all man”.
Argyle laughs and claps Eddie’s shoulder lightly one last time before moving towards Jonathan and Jeff, the trio grab a lighter from the coffee table and head back upstairs for another toke.
Robin and Nancy go back to join Vickie on the couch, their heads bent together in conversation, both girls looking up at Steve from time to time.
Steve, meanwhile, is steadfastly staring at the floor.
I’m an idiot, Eddie thinks miserably to himself as he takes a seat on the floor next to Gareth who doesn't seem to have moved since his suggestion of Truth or Dare.
"Hey man," Gareth says, turning his head slightly to see him better, "how'd it go?"
Eddie says nothing, pinching the bridge of his nose with two fingers; he wants to tell Gareth about how much of a disaster the night was, how he's ruined everything way more than he could ever dreamed of and he still didn't get a kiss out of it.
"That well huh?" Gareth hums as he sits up and brings his legs in to sit cross-legged.
The party has wound down significantly at this point, Steve has disappeared from the basement and Nancy has loudly announced she is leaving if anyone needs a ride home. Robin and Vickie trail after her with Megan not far on their heels, she sends an irritated glare their way, most likely directed at Gareth more-so than himself.
"Weird," Gareth mumbles, dragging his arm across his eyes clumsily, "I figured that would'a worked, with all the puppy-dog eyes he's been givin' you lately".
"What, uh, what?" Eddie says sharply, he must have heard him wrong or the weed has finally gotten to them, Gareth did not--
"Oh man, yeah I figured the Truth or Dare would totally give you an opening dude, you seemed on board?"
Eddie's heart is racing now, his palms sweaty, what the fuck is he talking about?
"I mean you should've seen Harrington's face when you went in, all sunny an' shit, it's that Doe face you're always talking about--"
"Gareth!" Eddie hisses, his face burning and shoulders tight, he stands up startling the other man as he paces the now empty sitting room.
He takes a deep breath and then another, bringing his hands up to press into his eyes roughly.
"Okay, okay, so you're telling me," he says slowly, dropping his hands to his sides, "that you think Steve, Steve Harrington," he points a shaky finger to the ceiling, "is in to me?"
Gareth blinks, his eyebrows slowly climb into his wild curly hair, "Uh yeah dude".
He says it like it's the simplest thing in the universe. One plus one is two, the sky is blue, and Steve Harrington has feelings for one Eddie Munson.
And suddenly, the words from earlier, the brittle broken sentence Steve uttered in their temporary prison, makes much more sense.
"I’m sorry that you got stuck with me".
Steve thought Eddie had been stuck with him?
Steve thought Eddie had been stuck with him?
The soft looks, small touches, and blinding grins, each tiny moment over the last few months tumble and fall together.
Oh God…
"...I am an idiot," Eddie whispers as he turns on his heel and makes his way to the stairs.
"Yeah! Get him dude!" Gareth calls after him as he flips back into the plush carpet with a laugh.
Eddie wanders the dark main floor, tiptoeing through the living room, avoiding a sea of sleeping bags and pillowed heads of the kids as he goes, there is a faint light ahead of him coming from the staircase to the second floor.
He makes his way up, careful to avoid the fifth stair as, 'it always creaks,' and the last thing he needed was Dustin, or Max, or, Ozzy forbid, Mike, interrupting.
Eddie maneuvers down the familiar hallway, and halts when he gets to Steve's room. The door is slightly ajar and, at last he’s found the source of the soft yellow light spilling down the hall and stairwell.
Eddie tips the door open, wincing at the piercing creek of the hinges as it slowly swings open revealing Steve sitting on the edge of his bed with his head in his hands. He doesn’t look up as Eddie steps into the room.
“Hey Stevie,” Eddie says softly.
He stuffs his hands into his pockets, suddenly unsure how to proceed, and awkwardly stands in the doorway, the wall to wall plaid threatens to burn his retinas but he holds firm.
There are a few things in here Steve has clearly placed himself, the plush area rug covering up most of the chic parquet flooring running through the rest of the house. A new yellow duvet that clashes with the red plaid wallpaper, but it's Steve's choice for once. The picture of the car has been replaced by a small cork board, it's covered from top to bottom in Polaroids of Steve and the kids, candids of Robin and Eddie, posed silly pictures of Jonathan and Argyle after a smoke session, and a few of Nancy and Jonathan sitting in the Byers kitchen at Thanksgiving, almost collage like but for the pins holding them in place.
The room has transformed over the last few months, and it never ceases to make Eddie smile.
“Hey Eds,” Steve sighs after a long beat.
He looks up to meet Eddie’s gaze, that same blank expression from earlier tonight painted on his otherwise handsome face.
Eddie swallows, his heart rate ticking up once again as soft brown eyes hold him in place, if he chickens out again he swears he'll fling himself down the stairs, creaky step be damned.
He opens his mouth only for Steve to speak, slowly, quietly.
"I'm sorry," Steve murmurs, his voice cracking around the words, "if that was weird today, for you".
Eddie manages to keep his face impassive as he nods, but his heart aches at what he hears, “Yeah, I mean, no it wasn't weird, just…”
Steve sits with his shoulders squared and his spine straight, stiff and still even in his own bedroom, but with each word that leaves Eddie’s mouth the line of his body slowly begins to curl in on itself.
“Just, different”.
Steve nods as his arms come up to wrap around himself again, he swipes his right hand up his bare arm up to the sleeve and down again and Eddie wants nothing more than to wrap him up in his own arms.
Steve eventually puts his hands on his knees with a muffled clap and stands up, padding across the carpet towards the door, towards Eddie.
"Well that's not the worst thing someone's called me so I'll take it," Steve says with a smirk, his big brown eyes pan between Eddie's own as though searching for something, he nods to himself.
“Oh yeah?” Eddie ventures, leaning against the open door frame, linking his ankles together as his weight shifts to one foot.
He can’t have this, someone as kind and funny and good as Steve saying these things, thinking that Eddie thinks them too.
Enough is enough.
Steve snorts, tipping his face down. A lock of hair falls into his eyes and once again, Eddie's fraying resolve finally snaps.
He pushes himself off the door frame with his shoulder, stepping into Steve’s space, and reaches out with one hand to card his fingers into Steve’s hair, pushing it out of his face.
Steve freezes at the sudden touch and proximity, "What, Ed-"
The words are lost as Eddie leans his head down and captures Steve's open lips for a kiss.
He feels Steve stiffen slightly in his arms.
Shit.
Eddie moves to pull away, cursing his own stupidity, but as he tries to pull away, Steve curls his arms around Eddie's neck and tilts his head, stepping closer into his arms.
And it's fireworks. It’s hearing Dio for the first time all over again, it’s finding out he was going to be staying with Wayne permanently. It’s jamming out with Gareth and Jeff and losing themselves in the music.
It's Steve.
Eddie brings his hands up to curl over Steve’s cheek and into his hair once more, he brings his fingers into tangle with the soft waves and gives them an experimental tug, startling a small moan out of Steve.
Eddie smiles into the kiss and takes the opportunity to lick into his mouth, letting his tongue slide over Steves, he tastes slightly like beer but Eddie doesn’t care because he’s finally kissing, and kissing, and kissing him.
Eddie breaks away after what feels like an eternity, leaning away just far enough to place a small kiss on Steve’s nose and both cheeks, which have slowly turned a pretty pink, the arms wrapped around his neck tighten slightly at the contact and Steve’s eyes flutter closed.
“I meant something like that,” Eddie whispers before leaning in again, swallowing a laugh that escapes Steve with another soft kiss to his smiling lips.
"I thought," Steve mumbles, chewing his bottom lip with harsh teeth, "I thought I messed it all up downstairs," the words are wet as Steve sniffs once and tips his head onto Eddie's shoulder.
Eddie slips his hands down from Steve's face to bring him in closer, wrapping his arms around his waist, "you didn't mess anything up, I've been wanting to do that for a long time,” he whispers in Steve’s ear, earning a hitching laugh.
“Me too Eds,” Steve mumbles into the fabric of his shirt, he pulls back slowly and tips his head up to meet Eddie’s gaze, “I think, I’ve been wanting to do that since you woke up in the hospital”.
“Sorry I took so long sweetheart,” Eddie murmurs against his lips, a smile tugging at the corners of his own.
Steve hums and closes his eyes before running his nose back and forth against the tip of Eddie’s own, “Well,” he says softly, “I can think of a few ways you can make it up to me”.
Eddie laughs brightly and kicks the bedroom door shut with a snap.
Maybe his Uncle Wayne wasn’t always right.
