For example: her and farleigh are talking about the future and what they want to do and she just says "i would probably work and move somewhere sunny because felix doesnt really like the rain". " You want to live with felix?" " OFC, hes my soumate"

You don't know who decided to label group study sessions as 'productive', but you're convinced they've never actually been to one. As a concept, they're the perfect way to balance social needs and academic responsibilities. It's a way to focus on your school work without isolating yourself completely.

In practice, group study sessions are an academic-hang-out purgatory.

"Y'know how you asked to not be interrupted until you finished your organic bio reading, unless there was an emergency?" Farleigh's voice has now yanked you out of the world of protein and enzyme molecules.

You sigh. If this is him giving into his inability to not snark at you, you might have to pick up your text book and hit him over the head with it. "Is there an emergency?"

The dryness of your response does little to dissuade him. You lift your head slightly. The reading break that's being forced onto you is an opportunity to get ready to copy some bullet points into your notebook. You reach for your highlighter, but before your fingers can grasp it, Farleigh's pulling it out of reach.

You straighten, back pressing into the wooden back of the library's chair. He ignores your glare, thumb pushing the neon pink cap upwards before snapping it back into place.

"I'd be careful, Farleigh." Felix's chair shifts with a soft groan, all four of the chair's legs fully settling on the ground as he sits up and flattens his feet. "That's not one of her nice looks."

"You'd know."

You frown, some half thought out sarcastic retort balancing on the edge of your tongue. Felix beats you to the punch. "You'd know if you had any real friendships."

Farleigh presses down on your highlighter's cap, a quiet click interrupting his silence as it clicks into place. "Friendship. Is that what we're calling it?"

There's a knowingness to the comment that has a hint of warmth attempting to tinge your cheeks. You're used to the jokes and little comments about you and Felix, especially from Farleigh, but his tone hints at a sharpness you're not in the mood for. Sometimes he feels like pushing, turning his jokes and comments into something more. You've been in the library for some time now, you're sure the stillness is making him restless in a way that will only add to that.

"Is this the emergency you interrupted my reading for?"

He shakes his head once, forearm moving to rest against the table in front of you. "Theoretically," he starts, the single word drawn out in a way that has you rolling your eyes, "If Madison was seen leaving a party with Abigail's ex-boyfriend, would that count as an emergency?"

No way. Your jaw drops. Madison and Abigail, roommates that seem perpetually trapped in the outer orbit of Felix's friend group, started the year as total best friends. Then, one day, for reasons that no one you know has been able to figure out, everything turned into a sort of unspoken competition between them. It's such an odd dynamic, you and Farleigh have to talk about it every time there's an update.

"What?" You set your arms over your textbook, leaning forward to better listen. "Why didn't you say anything?"

"You wanted to read organic bio."

Farleigh knows exactly what he's doing. He sat on this piece of information and only dropped it when it became convenient to have something worth saying. "You knew before I said that." You turn in your seat to look over at Felix. "Did you know?"

"I spent the entire night with you," he says, "I know what you know."

Yeah, you and Felix were particularly invested in your own world the last time you went out together. The two of you spent most of the night trying drink combinations you'd normally never get, Felix laughing as your negative reactions grew more theatrical as the night went on. "Well, you're not very invested."

It's not an accusation. You know Felix well enough to know that he's rarely particularly interested in most gossip. A part of it might come from the fact that everyone goes out of their way to present themselves in certain ways when around Felix. Rumors about palpable passive aggression seem a lot less real when the people the rumors are about are constantly trying to gloss over any imperfections in his presence.

"You two are too invested." He turns his head to look at you, a small smile playing at his lips. "You only get along when you're gossiping."

You straighten, lifting an arm off of the table to poke Felix's arm. "We all need hobbies." You then turn your head forward to look at Farleigh, "Okay, tell me everything and do it in less than 5 minutes, or I'm not going to go back to studying."

Farleigh's eyes briefly drop towards the textbook in front of you. "You worry too much." The way he says it feels less concerned and more like an observation of something he finds grating. "We all know you're going to end up at John Hopkins." It lacks any type of inflection. It feels like fact. An inevitability.

Graduate school is currently a foreign, distant concept, and you'd like to keep it that way. You're not sure why, but picturing your future education isn't as easy as you had hoped it would be. It's as if there's some kind of mental wall blocking your ability to connect with the next step in becoming a doctor, when all your classes will revolve around the subjects you don't love and you'll have to dissect and watch more surgeries than ever.

You tap our fingers against the wooden surface in front of you. You're not sure what the right kind of response to this type of thing is. "Uh--realistically, John Hopkins is far from everyone I know, and I don't think Felix would like Maryland, so..."

Farleigh raises an eyebrow as he finally sets down your highlighter. "You're factoring in Felix?" The question is still registering as Farleigh gestures in Felix's direction. "You want to live with him?"

"Yeah." While a lot of your future is blurry in your mind, Felix is clear, certain. "Yeah, he's my soulmate."

Farleigh's eyes widen slightly at the candidness of your admission. It didn't feel that heavy when you said it. There are a lot of ways for someone to be your soulmate.

"You want to--to live together after this?" You turn your neck to look over at Felix. He's already facing you, but his eyes are focused on his lap. "Like with me?"

"Yeah..." You admit again as you pull your hands towards you. Maybe you shouldn't have said anything without thinking. "Do you not want to live with me?"

"No, I do," he forces out the words quickly, his gaze briefly falling towards you. "I didn't realize you were--" He clears his throat, forcing himself to straighten. "Soulmate." Felix's hand reaches for the underside of your chair, pulling you towards him with no warning. "I'm your soulmate."

You're never speaking without thinking again. "There are a lot of ways to be someone's soulmate, so don't start."

His fingers move up the edge of the chair before finding your knee. He's beaming. "'M not starting anything."

I’m finally getting around to writing out my request rules! If you would like to request a fic, hc set, drabble, etc. please read over these rules before submitting. Please also check this post regularly as I will add things as I go.

Things I Will Write For

Fem/GN reader, smut, fluff, angst, hurt/comfort, dark themes/fics, praise, degradation, use of strap ons, p in v, creampies, throat fucking, both m and f receiving oral, multiple characters in one fic, choking, impact play, mild pain play, bondage (nothing with legs being restrained though), d/s dynamics, BDSM, dub-con/non-con, piss, boot play/worship.

Things I Will Not Write For

Male reader, character x character with no reader, beastiality, pedophilia, scat, underage characters, heavy blood play, non-canon character death (except for in the case of things like murder house and hotel in which they would become a ghost), gore, real-life people (such as actors), even though I might write for dom reader please do not request it.

Mapping LGBTQ+ Spaces through the Years

Hello everyone! Welcome to a little project update from your local Student Historian in Residence. The last two months have been filled with research, data collection, and learning new software programs. I’ve had a great time, and I can’t wait to share what I’ve been doing.

I spent the first few weeks of October doing more research, scouring both the Archives and the Internet to find more locations significant to LGBTQ+ Madisonians over the years. While in the Archives, I looked at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Folder 1 Subject File, which has materials from the 1990s to the mid-2010s (see University of Wisconsin-Madison Subject Files collection. uac69, Box 75, Folder 10. University of Wisconsin-Madison Archives, Madison, WI.). The most interesting things to me was a document written by Joe Elder on Reflection on the LGBTQ movement on Campus, which he wrote in the aftermath of the 2016 Orlando Nightclub Shooting. It provided some really interesting perspectives on the LGBTQ+ Rights movement in Madison.

Online, my main source of information is the Wisconsin LGBTQ+ History Project, which I wrote more about in my last blog post. I didn’t realize that they had digitized copies of old guides that listed LGBTQ+ friendly businesses as far back as 1963. It was fascinating to go through those and find the locations that queer people frequented in the past. The most interesting place that I found that was listed was called Apple Island, which I have seen before in archival research, but I didn't know it was in Madison. Apple Island was a community organization created to promote women's culture, and it was reported that 90% of the clientele were lesbians. My favorite part of the research project is finding these lesser-known spaces, and I can’t wait for more people to be able to easily access them through my project!

Outside of finding new “spaces,” I spent some time filling in the spreadsheet I use to keep track of each location. For each space, I list the title, address, significance, and years it was active, but sometimes it's hard to find all of that information on the first pass through. Sometimes, I'll just write the title and a short description, and then I can go back through later and fill in the rest. Now, all 165 entries are fully fleshed out!

With the spreadsheet being fully populated, I was ready to import it into ArcGIS, a digital mapping software. It was able to read the spreadsheet into different categories and add every space to a map! In the above image, all of the gray makers are for “Purge,” the blue markers are for “Community,” the orange markers are for “Commercial Area,” the purple markers are for “Healthcare,” the pink markers are for “Media,” the green markers are for “Politics,” and the red markers are for “UW”! If you click on a marker, a pop-up window will display with information about the location, including beginning and end dates as well as a short description.

In the coming months, I will be working on making a public website to share my research! I also want to host an outreach event in collaboration with the Gender and Sexuality Campus Center and Phi Alpha Theta, the History Honors Society. I’m sure more meetings on the topic will come up in the coming months, and I will make sure to keep you posted! For now, though, that’s all from me!

A Herrmann/Halstead Production: Original Characters Cast

Hi! I thought it would be fun to put together a post with all of the people I would cast to play the original characters in my series, A Herrmann/Halstead Production.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

First of all, of course, is Bex! Rebecca "Bex" Herrmann is the main original character. She's the younger half sister of both Christopher Herrmann and Will and Jay Halstead.

Adelaide Kane is who I'd pick to play Bex. I think she looks like she could be related to both Herrmann and the Halsteads. (Bex and Will both got their brown eyes from their individual moms, but it ends up making them look more alike. Bex and Jay both got their freckles from Pat. Bex and Chris got their darker hair, nose shape, and smile from their mom.)

Anthony Hill as Devon Robertson, Tyler Hoechlin as Sam Kent, and Rafael Silva as Isaac Almeida. (Devon plays drums in the band, Sam is Julie Tay's current patrol partner, and Isaac is running the Mouse/Bex betting board with Shay. I have a fun storyline planned for these three guys and Shay and Tay. :D)

Sinqua Walls as Ben Vernon and Florence Pugh as Faith Callahan. (Ben acts as manager for the band and Faith plays bass.)

Madison Iseman as Emery Hughes and Bryce Durfee as Ty Anderson. (Yes, Ty is somewhat older than Emery and the group. She met him once they moved back to Chicago, not while they were at school.)

Next is Bex and her band's new rock band friends: Taggert!

Matthew Daddario as Beau Taggert. (He is the middle Taggert sibling. He's also the lead guitarist of the band and one of the lead singers.)

[I wanted someone who could pull off being broody, sexy rock star guy, but also be fun and charming and kind of goofy. I think Matthew Daddario fits that bill pretty nicely.]

Beau and Bex. (Might need to do an AU of this AU where they end up together, lol!)

Katie McGrath as Patti Taggert. (She is the oldest Taggert sibling and the other lead singer of the band. She also plays guitar. Patti is engaged to Pete.)

Shelley Hennig as Elle Taggert. (She is the youngest Taggert sibling and she plays drums in the band.)

Oliver Stark as Pete Nash. (He is Patti's fiancé and he plays bass in the band.)

Next up is the bad guys (thus far):

Michael Shannon as Vincent Marsconi, aka Vinnie, Finn Whitrock as Cal Anderson and Bill Skarsgård as Robert Forrest aka Ramsay. (But he has lighter hair as Ramsay.)

Last, but not least is Mouse's support group:

Richard Schiff as Chuck Weiss, Christian Kane as Ed Spencer, and Jason George as Frank Bailey.

Brianna Baker as Ada Jackson and AJ Cook as Lucy Graham.

Those are all of the major original characters. Might have one or two more crop up and I'll add them here when they appear.

so i was thinking about how i’ve read so many good fics over the last few months of joining this fandom and that i needed to archive them somehow for when i want to reread them. and also share them with all of you!

i’m really exposing myself here but these all have an explicit rating (with one m rated exception). it’s really all i read unless someone recs me something with a lower rating. just a warning to anyone who isnt into that!

the first five are my all time favorite larry fics, but after that they aren’t in any particular order. i'll be updating this as i find more i want to add.

Hiding Place by anonymous (365k words) - Louis never wanted a soulmate, didn’t really care for the whole Bonding thing at all, really. Enter Harry Styles, who’s wanted to be Bonded for as long as he could remember. With one fateful meeting in an X Factor bathroom, Louis gets a dagger on his arm and the realization that just because Harry is his soulmate doesn’t mean it’s mutual. From the X Factor house to Madison Square Garden, from the Fountain Studios stage to stadiums across the world, Louis has to learn to love without losing himself completely, because someday his best friend will Bond to someone and replace Louis as the center of his universe. Meanwhile, Harry begins to think that maybe fate doesn’t actually know what it’s doing after all, because his other half has clearly been right in front of him the whole time. All he has to do now is convince Louis to give them a chance. Or, the canon compliant Harry and Louis love story from the very beginning, where the only difference is that the love between them is literally written on their skin, and there’s only so much they can hide.

And Then a Bit by infinitelymint (159k words) - “We’d like to give the fans what they want.” Magee states, placing his hand on the table in front of him and leaning forward. “We want to give them Larry Stylinson.” Or, take a parallel universe where Louis and Harry were never together, mix in a two year hiatus and an impending comeback, pour in a dash of lost fans, two tablespoons of strong friendship and a Modest! employee with a good idea. Add a squeeze of pretending to be a couple, lots of kisses and a tattoo or two. Stir. Serve: the mother of all publicity stunts. (aka Harry and Louis fake a relationship for publicity. Eventually it becomes a lot less fake and a lot more real.)

my heart is breathing for this moment in time by usedtothebeach (160k words) - When Louis first saw Harry at the 2010 X Factor Auditions, he thought he was watching a peculiarly special stranger. But Harry has known Louis ever since he was five years old. Because Louis has a rare genetic disorder that causes him to Time Travel to important moments in his past and in his future - and to Harry, always to Harry. When they're put into a band together, it seems like everything Harry has been waiting and wishing for has finally come true. Except for the small fact that Louis doesn't know that Harry is in love with him- that Harry's always been in love with him. Fate, it would seem, is just getting started. You'll Breathe Me In (You Won't Release) by LoadedGunn (95k words) - His first driving lesson with Louis takes place on a Saturday. Harry stumbles out through the front gate in thrown-on baggy jeans and his ratty Ramones shirt, sees Louis leaning casually against the car, and his knees nearly give out. Apparently "not another surly teacher" meant a drop dead gorgeous twenty-something scruffy guy with shaggy brown hair and cheekbones sharp enough to chop a salad with. Clearly, Robin's trying to get Harry killed at seventeen. Or, the AU where Louis is a 25-year-old driving instructor and Harry is a 17-year-old virgin who's really awful at seduction, except for the time he gets Louis to fall for him and fuck him senseless and take him on kinky adventures.

Sail Across Me by iwillpaintasongforlou (22k words) - Harry is a prince that is about to be forced into marriage against his will and running away to sea seems like a much better option. Louis is the captain of the infamous pirate ship The Rogue and he has a thing for helping defenseless creatures. Especially when they're as pretty as this one.

Loving You Is Free by littlelouishiccups (68k words) - Louis is a workaholic record label CEO who hasn't been on a date in nearly a year. Niall and Liam make an account for him on a sugar dating website as a joke. And then Louis meets Harry.

i’d burn this city down to show you the light by you_explode (24k words) -Harry's a sheltered rich kid and Louis's a punk with a heart of gold. They meet when Louis breaks into Harry's house, Harry obtains an instant and all-encompassing crush, and they spend the summer falling into a whirlwind romance.

One More Time Again by anonymous (232k words) - Harry looks down to where Louis is cradling his hand between his own. Louis' hands are slender, the bones delicate, the nails bitten short. Puppy, I need to infodump to you about the best yet worst game ever on Roblox.

Hamilton Simulator.

It's free to play, no Robux necessary. You can collect 15 different "companions" from the musical through the gacha pull system. There's eight different levels/areas, and you can listen to instrumental versions of a handful of songs from the soundtrack.

As someone who has spent two days so far playing this, I am on area seven of eight and have a decent team (two Eliza Schuylers, two Maria Reynolds, and a James Madison who collectively deal 17.5k damage? Definitely not the strongest team, of course, but it is still up there, considering most people playing the game are there for the cringe and memes. I mean, I'm there for the same reasons but in an affectionate and genuine way.

Sure, middle school wasn't the best time of my life, but that was during the Hamilton/Heathers/Be More Chill/Dear Evan Hansen era of musicals. It was a vibe and a fever dream, but I still look back fondly. I still have the CDs of the soundtrack.

There's a few pros and cons, even considering that it's still a new game.

I like that the gacha system lets you do auto pulls for free. Most games with similar systems make you pay Robux for auto pulls in groups of x1, x3, or x5. This game lets you keep going until you run low on the necessary funds (Bronze pull for 500 Hamilcoins, Silver for 50k, and Gold for 1M). There's different chances of getting certain characters, which is fun. The areas are all built well even with the small sizes. Even the private servers are free, which I was surprised by but remembered that it's a "no Robux needed/free to play" gacha.

The cons is that I feel like the grinding aspect takes too long? I mean, I haven't been playing that long and am almost to the final area. I'll acknowledge that. Yet, I can walk away from my phone and come back to see my team still working away at gaining coins through attacks. There's no buffs available, and they're all given their own base level of damage. For those familiar with the musical, they would know that these characters all have at least two or more outfits depending on the song. There could be a separate gacha, side quests, or even an upgrade page that allows players to purchase alternate outfits that can add buffs (ie. faster damage, more damage, etc.) and give us the chance to customize a little?

Speaking of customizing, the soundtrack. It's limited to eight songs out of the fourty something list. Or give us some sort of music player so we can skip through/replay songs at our own pace and not just listen to a couple of seconds on loop. It's an official Hamilton game, so they can surely work with the legal team and Roblox itself to allow this.

If I had to rate it, at most a 4/5 as there is room for improvement and it's new with updates in the future.

I also want a separate game where we can just roleplay in universe in a story based thing or something that's also official. 👉👈

I draw su oc. This time, I draw pearl or pearlsona. She's Eyris Pearl, Other her nickname is Lisa, she got this name from Alan Madison (He prefer to call her Lisa as her name).

Backstory

Eyris Pearl/Lisa is one of Aqua Aura Quartz (Marina), Brown Spinel (Bonnie) and Strawberry Quartz (Ichigo)'s friend. She had lived on Homeworld with her friends.

Before Era 3, Eyris was Servant like most Pearls. She's doing well in her duties other pearls. But unlike other pearls, she want to try does something difference from her works as pearl. Plus, she's gem who wants to learn things to add knowledge to herself. She want to learn somethings, beside about gems. But with a gem society and Caste System, it made her less chance to learn the things she wanted from other gems, which Aqua understand her at this point.

Several thousands years later, after Era 3 is begin. Eyris heard Aqua decide to moves to Earth with her friends. She decide to moved from Homeworld to start new life on the Earth with Aqua and her friends.

Days later in one day, while Eyris was walking through Beach City. Project: Port-A-Chip - A Different Way of Teleporting Inside and Out of The Institute

So me and @honkytonkangel were talking about OCs and stuff and we got started talking about how my OC Alex is in the Institute and would need a way to teleport In and Out of there, especially since she wouldn’t have a courser chip(She’s a Human, NOT a synth so) and she isn’t a Vault Dweller or anything, so she wouldn’t necessarily have a pipboy(I have the pip-pad mod installed but anyways). Also sorry if this is a bit messy. 😅😅😅😅 I should probably also put a readmore thing on here(It shouldn’t be a long post, but anyways). ALSO if anyone would like to add anything to the post, FEEL FREE! and I’ll update this post, if I’ll have anything else to add or edit.

• SO @honkytonkangel’s had a headcanon of the Institute completely recorded the genetic profiles of who was in their ranks - synth or human - and issued cards representing each one of them, and that Alex could have one of those “cards”.

• I mentioned how Alex still had her BOS dogtags from when she was born(she was born in the Brotherhood of Steel because her parents were in the BOS), and maybe she could put the “card” around that.

• Maybe the “card” is encoded into the tags. Kinda like how some Debit Cards have those EMV chips in them now. Like this:

• I’d like to think they’re a blue color, kinda like the color of Nuka-Cola Quantum. But maybe they’d also range in color.

• Also maybe the all have different designs/codes on them depending on what your Institute rank was and if you were a human or synth, etc etc? This chip is absolutely both touch and voice-activated. Totally linked by the DNA of their owner. Maybe that DNA written in their system is a safety to prevent random people from accessing the Institute.

• @honkytonkangel mentioned that maybe BOTH The Institute and BOS would have this type of technology. Maybe the Enclave would have had it as well?

• Anyways I feel like The Institute would’ve started and tested this project around when Alex was about 15/16 because that’s when she started wanting to go on missions with Conrad Kellogg(he’s her Step-Dad)(Alex also went through the courser training regimen as well and passed) and also Madison Li oversaw the project since she’s the Advance Systems division head(also Alex’s Step-Mom), and one of the things the Advance Systems does is Teleportation.

• But ye! I suppose they’d start the project around 2283/2284, and Alex was one of the first people they tried it out on, and it ended up being a huge success. Now it’s one of the main ways everyone teleports. It’d probably be pretty discreet as well.
