Stepping Into the Light
WandaNat x Fem!Reader
Wanda Maximoff x Natasha Romanoff
Soooo, I’d been watching Ghost Whisperer while writing my fics, and as I neared the end I decided a crossover fic could be fun.

Melinda had made the travel to the Big Apple with her husband Sam—Jim—and son Aiden in hopes of experiencing a good natured vacation. So, when she approached the cute coffee shop and saw you pacing outside of it she was a bit devastated, because of course you'd be here. Nobody dies the way you did, being who you were, and passes without unsaid goodbye's.
———————————————
You'd been outside this coffee shop all day, waiting for Wanda and Natasha to finally show. It was your weekend tradition to meet here at 9AM, enjoy pastries, while sipping on your differing beverages, and talking about any and everything until splitting come afternoon time to get back to work.
It's already 3PM though, so you're growing a bit concerned at their lack of arrival. You're not stupid, you know you're dead, but that doesn't mean you'd expect them to break these sort of traditions though. You'd already suspected you were dead, because all you can remember is their angry faces as you left them, then Clint's full of fear before everything suddenly blurs. Then, after the fight you saw the two engaged in last night in your shared home your suspicions had been all but confirmed.
Your inability to be heard, and Wanda's "She's dead because of us Natasha! Just more red to add to our already dripping ledgers!," when you found you couldn't hold Natasha as she cried herself to sleep with a big bottle in her hand you knew it was you being referenced... You don't even know why you thought you could do anything if they had showed up, just more of that reckless optimism of yours, the same bit that got you into this mess anyways...
Melinda sighs, texting her husband that they'll want to extend their trip because she has some work to do, and he knowingly responded with wishes of good luck, and so she approached you with no hesitation whatsoever. You'd saved the world countless times, so saving your soul was certainly a cross she didn't mind baring.
Your senses were on overload when you saw a brunette woman sitting at a table sipping her tea, staring as if she could see you, and not through you liked everyone else had so far. Subtly she nodded towards an alleyway, and you found yourself there in a blink of an eye.
"Who are you?" Melinda simply smiled at you, completely understanding you're on edge, "Well, I'm Melinda Gordon—." Your eyes widened when she actually responded to you., "You can see me then? How is that possible?"
"So, you know you're dead, that's a good start. Most ghosts I encounter don't have it all put together yet, but you seem to. Tell me Y/N, do you see a light? Is it calling to you?"
"What fucking shit is this? Do I see a light? This is New York, there are lights everywhere!" Melinda snickers at your little outburst, "That's a fair point, but that's not what I'm referencing. My purpose here is to get you crossed over, and into the light, but it's clear you can't see it."
"I can't cross over!" Melinda sighs, "You have to, there's no place left for you here, but can you tell me why you can't leave?" You drop your gaze to the ground., "I can't leave them..."
"The Avengers?" You shake your head., "No, well kind of—Natasha and Wanda, I can't leave them without making sure they'll be okay..." Melinda hums, curious brown eyes urging you to elaborate further, because the world had always been a bit unclear on your relationship, and that's exactly how you'd all wanted it.
"They're my girlfriend's, and they're not doing too well. We kinda got into a huge fight before I died, I never got to say goodbye, and I think they blame themselves for my death..."
"Why would they blame themselves?" Melinda inquires, looking for the full picture before she attempts to approach the intimidating women., "Well, you see, I'd wanted us to retire..."
~———————~•~_~•~———————•
Natasha's incredulous laughter filled the room, billowing off the walls and assaulting your ears and heart all in one go., "You can't be fucking serious right now Y/N! We have an innate responsibility to the world to continue on protecting it! So no, we can't just retire and live out your happy little fantasies."
"But...," Wanda cut you off, "Look Y/N/N, Natasha is right, eventually we can have all those things, but to do it now would just be irresponsible, and frankly a bit childish." Nodding, you wiped away your tears, then left them alone in your shared bedroom, not all that interested in hearing them out as they called out for you to come back and talk.
If you're childish for wanting to finally live a free, happy life then you might as well fit yourself to the title...Which is exactly what you did by accepting Fury's no contact mission without even a proper goodbye to the women who'd held your heart for nearly a decade...
"Dear W & N,
I am sorry for my previous comments, you're right, what was I thinking... The world will forever need us, so just forget my silly dream. I'll be back in a weeks time, Fury asked me if I'd be able to accept this off grid mission, and who would I be to say no?
A selfish child is what, so of course I took it.
I love you both with all my heart, sorry I missed you before take off, but hey, maybe it was for the best that it worked out this way. Giving you both the space you needed.
Love Y/N—Forever & Always 💋"
Unknowingly though, you were sealing your tragic fate by running from the pain...
~———————~•~_~•~———————•
Melinda takes a moment to hear you out, and she can't help but feel there's pieces left to uncover, but her attempts were soon thwarted., "I'm, I'm not sure what's happening, but I have to go..." You suddenly announce, Melinda's calls ignored as you blinked yourself out of the alley, and then found yourself at Clint's farm. Melinda groaned when you disappeared, then she set off in search of anything that could lead her to your lovers, hopes to have you crossed over by dinner dwindling as she trudges back to at least get a coffee to go.
Clint was a wreck when you found him sat in the barn, his clothes were tattered, flashes of him in the same articles runs through your mind. As you inched closer you saw the mess that had become of the man, and your heart ached; alcohol bottles littered the entirety of the barn, and his loud sniffles were persistent.
"Natasha, please, just call me back... I'm sorry, It-It was all my fucking fault, I'm so sorry...," His words throw you off, a sudden pain in your abdomen emerges and you drop to your knees before him. The shiner, and split lip far too familiar to you, and when you tried to reach for him you were thrown into a memory.
~———————~•~_~•~———————•
"Come on Y/N! It can't be that bad, I'm sure it'll blow over by the time we get back." The archer tries to keep the stakeout lighthearted, but your frown only deepens as he speaks., "No, Clint, after these last few days I still want the same things, to retire and start a family. I'd even be willing to stay home alone, but they dismissed me so quickly it seems I'm on my own either way."
"Y/N, your story isn't the same as theirs, you'd always been a hero, even when they tried so hard to make you a monster. Both Natasha and Wanda succumbed to those individuals, and now they live their life making amends." You shake your head in anger, "To survive! They're not monsters Clint.,"
He nods, "I know that, but deep down they refuse to believe it, and so this hero mumbo jumbo is to put it simply, is their repentance.," You get it., "Still, they had no right to crush your dreams, I think if you'd all just sit down, and express your fears that it will all work out, because they love you more than you seem to give them credit for."
His calloused thumb wipes away at the fallen tears on your face, a smudge of dirt left in its place, and then his sympathetic smile falls., "It's just dirt Cli—.," He wasn't fast enough, "Y/N! Get up, we have to go now!"
You couldn't hear his pleas, mind entirely too focused on the blinding pain searing through your abdomen, and spreading throughout., "Y/N/N, please, you need to get up...," the wet, hot tear hitting your face slowly coaxes you back from your stupor, you finally see Clint's face has been brutalized, and that his hands were covered in blood, looking down you quickly realize it's your own.
His broken gaze telling you what you already know, you're not going to make it, but he'll be damned if he just accepts that to be true., "Clint, you ne-need to go before more come.," He scoffs, "I'm not leaving you behind Y/N, now get up! or better yet..." He manhandles your dying form into his own, then takes off in a sprint, your weak pleas for him to stop falling on deaf ears, and surprisingly he makes it back to the safe house unharmed.
He lays you on the couch, ignoring your calls for his name as he searches for the first aid. With all your strength you shout, "Clint!" Finally, he looks to you, whimpering once he takes in your state, no amount of wound stuffing or stitching will do; you were a goner from the start, and now he had to face it.
"It's okay Clint, it's not your fault." You offer the man the kindest smile you could muster, and he falls to his knees besides the couch., "They're not going to be okay Y/N... This is going to ruin them...,"
"Don't let it, they deserve to be happy Clint, and when they're ready, please give them the rings I left at your barn for safe keeping."
"You can't go, it's not your time yet Y/N/N." Clint pleads, his strong hand gripping at yours., "It seldom ever is in our line of work Barton, now, dry your tears... I lived a good life, and I'm not afraid to die... Tell them, that I loved them with all of my heart, and I'm sorry we didn't get to say our goodbye's..."
"Tell them yourself.," You sigh., "I love you Clint, don't be so sad buddy, just go live..." Clint sobs as your hand falls limp in his hold, and your chest collapses for the final time...
~———————~•~_~•~———————•
"No, don't tell her that! It's not true..." You scream into the void, then when you blink you're back in your own house.
It's silent, breaking your heart as you remember the days when all it was filled with was laughter. Your attention quickly pulls from your fond memories when you hear a squeak upstairs, and you follow the sound to a door. Natasha's office, and so you make your way in through the cracked door to find her sat in her chair with a distant look in her eyes.
The voicemail Clint left replaying, and after the third loop she throws her phone at the wall, and reaches for her gun safe, an unsettling look on her face as she throws back the last of her drink and jumps to her feet., "I'm going to fix this lyubov'..." and your soul effectively cracks when she exits the office, and then the house.
Melinda's need to get her coffee doubled in her favor, because in the far back booth she managed to spot the famed Wanda Maximoff. The blue hoodie not disguising her as well as she thought it was, and so the woman took the calculated risk of sitting before her.
"No autographs, no photos, please just leave.," She immediately mutters, voice cracking as if she'd been crying, and the tracks on her face confirm the obvious., "I'm not here for any of that.," Wanda looks up to the woman, anger surging through her as she'd made no move to leave., "Well, whatever it is you are looking for, I'm not buying, so leave, I won't ask again.
"I'm here on behalf of your girlfriend.," Wanda scoffs, "Tell Natasha that if she wants to talk, she can use the cell phone.," Melinda sighs, a twinge of fear settling within her as she speaks., "No, I'm here on behalf of Y/N." Wanda's eyes redden at the mention of you, like bringing you up is some sick game to this stranger, but then something about the woman sat before her seems oddly familiar, and then her knowing about your relationship told her to at least hear her out.
"I'm not here to hurt you Wanda, but Y/N needs you and Natasha to help her cross over." Wanda's face scrunches as her words register., "Why would I want that? For her to move on?" Melinda quirks a brow, "It's what's best for her, she can't remain earthbound, and she won't leave until you and Natasha are okay."
"Okay?! I'll be okay when she's back in our bed!In my arms, safe and sound!" Wanda shouts in bewilderment., "Only then will we be okay..."
"Melinda! We have to go! Natasha is about to do something really stupid, please help..." Melinda's attention is drawn away from Wanda's outburst as you suddenly appear beside their table., "Y/N, slow down, and tell me exactly what's happening."
"Y/N's here?," Wanda whispers, and your eyes move over to view her, soul breaking at her hunched form, but you can't dwell right now., "Clint, she is going after him, she thinks it's his fault, but it's not, we need to fucking hurry." Melinda turns to Wanda who's already staring at her expectantly., "She said we need to hurry, Clint's in danger, and that Natasha blames him, but that it's not his fault."
"Y/N, baby? Are you really here, please, I..." Wanda panics, "Tell her to count to cats.," Melinda, albeit confused, nods., "Wanda, we don't have much time, she said for you to count to cats..."
~———————~•~_~•~———————•
Wanda had just returned from the worst day, she'd gone grocery shopping on her own, and while out there she was beyond overwhelmed. Natasha was out of town, and you were busy so she thought she could do it all by herself. Turns out she was wrong, now she's sat on the kitchen floor in a fit of tears, hyperventilating as she relives the dreadful hour over and over.
You were peacefully working on your overdue paperwork upstairs when you heard a loud thump downstairs, and then the next moment you're running down with your gun in hand. Quick to be placed on the counter as all you find is your girlfriend in a heap on the floor.
"Oh baby, what's going on?," Wanda just continues to shake, unable to answer you. "Wanda, I need you to calm down, I-um, can you count to.." You briefly got distracted at the sight of a stray black fur-ball on the window, "...cats for me?"
Wanda's breath gets caught in her throat at your ridiculous request, her previous panic replaced with concern for you., "Y/N, what are you—." She follows your gaze over to the window, and she chuckles at just how easily distracted you are., "Detka, how are you even an Avenger?," she laughs out, and you smile at the perfect sound of the successfully calmed down Wanda.
~———————~•~_~•~———————•
She smiles sadly, "Liho misses you...," Wanda then takes a steadying breath, slowly she stands up, and silently commands Melinda to follow her as they make their way to the farm, and you instantly blink your way back there.
Natasha is standing outside of the barn doors, "Natasha, I know you're there.," Her entire body stiffens as the man who was once her safety net speaks, then she's kicking the door in, and raising her weapon to his forehead., "Natasha, no, at least not here..."
"No! Not ever!!" You shriek into the void, she cocks the gun and shoves the muzzle into his skin., "Don't worry, I'll clean it up before Laura and the kids could find your pathetic body!" She pistol whips him instead, then once he's on the ground she straddles him, and replaces the gun against his head., "Tell me Clint, why did she die?! You are the fastest archer alive, how'd they manage to get the shot before you?!"
"He was distracted..." You whimper, once again to no one in particular, Clint then also explains, "I was distracted... She had been crying, and I wanted that to stop, so I tried to help her through her crisis, but it was a dumb choice because it cost her life..." his sobs break you, but you notice that they only further piss off the heartbroken woman.
You flinch when you hear the slide of the gun draw back, Natasha's hardened expression telling you she'd agreed with him, this was his fault, but you knew deep down she was just looking for a person to blame, for a reason. This emerging idea that you had died over such a silly fight was far too much for her to bare; if you didn't stop her you knew she'd regret this.
Wanda and Melinda were taking too long, so just as Natasha was about to pull the trigger you'd managed to fly the pistol out of her hand.  "What the fuck was that?!" She screeches, jumping off the man to recollect her weapon, but you manage to toss it away once again., "Wanda! If this is you knock it off! Someone needs to fucking pay for this!"
It takes nearly everything in you, but you had managed to disassemble the pistol, scattering the pieces all over the barn, and leaving both Clint and Natasha with their mouths agape. Wanda was clearly nowhere in sight, and her characteristic red tendrils weren't present, so both of them were a bit freaked out.
"Natasha, I'm not sure what happened, but all I know is that Y/N didn't want this... She —.," He's cut off almost instantly by a harsh slap, "Don't you dare fucking speak for her Barton! All I know is that it should've been you!" Helplessly you'd watched as she tackled him back onto the floor, pounding her fists into his chest, and crying out, "It should've been you!" repeatedly. Clint accepted the punches, he almost looked relieved as if he accepted this to be a suitable punishment for his "wrongdoing."
Melinda and Wanda ran into the barn, your eyes locked onto the medium's, and she sent your distraught face a sympathetic smile. "Natasha! Get off of him!," Wanda shouts, using her powers she pulls the woman back., "No! Let me go! I-I, Y/N's gone, and it's his fault! He even fucking said it was...,"
"Tasha, it was none of your fault!" You shout, and Melinda steps forward., "Who are you?!," Wanda answers her distraught girlfriend., "Nat, meet Melinda Gordon, she can speak to the dead, and she's here because of Y/N/N." Natasha laughs incredulously, "Yeah fucking right! Who sent you? How much? Does it make you feel good to prey on the heartbroken?"
Melinda doesn't even flinch as the redhead approaches her, and it's then you realize this woman has for sure seen some shit., "Tasha, she's not lying, I-I can feel her here, and she needs us.," Natasha scoffs, "Yeah? Well what about me? Us? We fucking need her, and she just left! Our last memory of her being a fight that never should have fucking happened... That petty little note is all we have left of her." the assassins voice breaking off as she begins to settle into the sadness consuming her.
"The rings..." Melinda looks up at you, and you gesture to the battered archer on the ground. "Clint is it? Y/N said something about rings." Clint's eyes widen at the piece of information, staggering as he gets up, wordlessly he exits the barn, and Natasha just shakes her head in disbelief.
"The rings." She mocks the woman, "That's a textbook piece of information to infer, you could at least try fucking harder here Melissa."
"Oh, I do not like the way this is making you act one bit, what happened to my sweet girl?," Melinda solemnly watches as you trail your ghostly fingers across the woman's cheek adoringly, repeating your next words verbatim., "Ya tebya lyublyu, my Tasha Bear..."
~———————~•~_~•~———————•
Out of the three of you, it had been assumed that you were the cuddliest, and that Wanda would come in as a close second, but nobody was ready for the truth... Natasha Romanoff, the deadly reformed assassin, had to be the most clingy person you'd ever met when she was comfortably behind closed doors, and she was truly the most adorable too.
"Y/N/N... I want to cuddle!!!," She whines, you expertly move around her in favor of the bench press, but the woman simply follows., and as soon as you laid on your back her front was flush against your own.
"I just love you so much, and you're so warm, and soft... Perfect cuddle partner, even better than Wanda honestly..." She tiredly murmurs against your chest, the rise and fall as you continue your reps, paired with your grunts somehow lulling the woman to sleep.
You chuckle, racking the bar back onto the rungs, and settling a kiss to her temple, Natasha reflexively smiles, pushing herself even further into you, and as effortlessly as possible you manage to get up, carrying the sleepy woman back up to your bedroom, and settling her atop the sheets. Her hands holding onto you ever so tightly so you won't leave, "Ya tebya lyublyu, my Tasha Bear...," You giggle out against her forehead, placing a few gentle pecks to her skin before allowing her the space to overtake your body.
•———————~•~_~•~———————•
"What was that?..." Natasha's voice cracks, tears falling down her face in quick succession as your words crack open the floodgates., "She's here.," Wanda reconfirms, pulling her lover into her arms, and consoling her as best she can while she herself breaks down.
"Please tell them that I'm sorry, it was never supposed to turn out like this. Tell them that I want them to find happiness, and to never give up on our dreams. It's okay to keep Avenging for awhile, but they need to eventually retire, and start on the life we all had dreamed of. That I understand why they were scared, and they need to know that I'm not mad anymore. Lastly, that it's okay to move on without me, and that I can't wait to see them being mom's."
"She's sorry...," Wanda instantly throws her hand up, "No, please don't apologize lyubov', we're the ones who are sorry... All you wanted was to talk about our future, and we just shut you right down, it wasn't right.."
"She said it's okay, and that she understands you were both just scared, but that she also hopes you'll live out the dream anyways, because you two not being mama's would be a crime to the world." Natasha sobs., "We can't live that life without you Y/N/N, it wouldn't be right to bring a kid into the world without you."
Clint re-emerges into the barn, two velvet boxes in hand as he takes tentative steps towards the tearful couple on the ground. Gently he hands them over, the green box to Wanda, and the red to Natasha, along with a folded up piece of paper, he then moves to leave again, but Melinda grips his shoulder to stop him.
"Y/N wants you all to listen now, this man is innocent, if anything she likens him to a victim. He'd been nothing but good to her the whole time they were away, and his heart was in the right place when he consoled her that night. The mission went South, and the only one at fault was the man who shot her, that Clint then brutally handled, justice came quick for her. Let it go, heal from this, and forgive yourself."
Clint slips out right after she speaks some hopeful peace to him, and you kneel beside your lovers as they open their respective rings., gasps of total shock fall from their lips at the sheer size of the rocks on the unique bands, and you smile when you see the love in their eyes shining bright as they slip the rings onto one another's fingers, then Natasha opens your letter, and begins to read it aloud.
"To my Dearest W & N.,
If you're reading this then it means I'm gone, and I'm so incredibly sorry for that my loves. Nevertheless, I had some big plans for us, and I write to you in the hopes that when you're both ready, you'll go out there and truly fucking live. Travel the world freely, without the obligations of being an Avenger, buy that cabin in the woods of Norway, and adopt a fur sibling, or maybe even a human one for Liho, I can tell he's getting lonely.
Whatever you do, please don't give up on each other, or let the grief of my untimely death consume you wholeheartedly. You're stronger than that my angels, and I know you'll be okay.
Please, do come find me in the afterlife, and when you do we'll have our most perfect union. We'll dance for hours under the clear skies of our personal Heaven, and I promise I'll never let go of your hands ever again.
With all my love, Y/N Maximoff-Romanoff
P.S. I really hope I'm right in assuming you two would've said yes...
P.S.S. If you ever loved me, you will NOT let Tony memorialize me in statue form, we all know he'll give me tits the size of watermelons, and an ass bigger than Texas... I just can't go out like that, I beg of you..."
Natasha wipes her tears with the back of her hand, clutching your paper close to her chest., "Are you stupid? Of course I'd fucking say yes," Wanda playfully slaps her shoulder, "Y/N, I'd say yes to you in any realm of the multiverse, I promise we'll travel detka, and Liho will indeed have siblings..."
Melinda smiles when she sees the peace washing over you, "You three shared a love that most could only dream of having experienced, and I'm truly sorry that it ended the way it did.," You smile over the woman's shoulder as you stood up., "That's the light right?," She shrugs, "I can't see it, only you can.,"
"What's happening?" Natasha asks in a slight panic., "She's ready to crossover."
"Wait, detka..." Wanda cries out, "I want to try something.," Melinda extends her hand out when she sees Wanda's inquisitive glance, and with the use of her magic she's able to connect with the medium, your ghostly form becoming visible to her, and she nearly collapses when she sees your beautiful smile from the side after two long months of deprivation.
"Detka... I-I can see you...," She sobs, and you turn to face her fully, smiling bright as you do., "Oh Wands, don't cry.," You plead tenderly, hand reaching out to stroke her tear stained cheek, and she gasps at the feeling of you., "Nat, come here.," She scurries over, fingers intertwining with the witches, and as she blinks her eyes back open her vision is filled with you.
"My beautiful girls, I love you so very much.," your hands cup one cheek each as you guide their foreheads to meet, laying yours against there's and sighing at the familiar touch., "You'll be okay, I promise, and so will I..."
"What's it like detka?," Natasha inquires with a saddened, but nonetheless reassuring smile.
"It's warm, bright, and so inviting, and Wands, I-I can see Pietro, he's waving me down..." Wanda beams as you mention her late brother, you'd only met once, but she wouldn't expect any less of him to be waiting for you in the light. It's funny, he'd called your relationship before you or Natasha were even on good terms with her, "Trust me sestra, it will happen...," and happen it did, he just wasn't there to see it.
"Give him a big hug for me moya lyubov'.,"
"Until we meet again my loves.," You bid a final farewell, gently kissing their foreheads, and then their lips before turning to Melinda., "Thanks again Melinda, you gave my girls the necessary peace, and helped me find my own.," The woman winks., "All in a days work."
You walk away, all three woman watching intently, you turned to smile at them all once more, then you slowly disappeared as you crossed on over and through the bright light, "Thank you..." Melinda nods, then leaves the women behind in the barn, taking off in her rental, and praying to have a far less eventful day tomorrow...
Wanda and Natasha slept in the barn that night, riding out the high that seeing you for a final time gave them, and brainstorming where they'd be headed off to first as Fury blew up their phones, "This is no time to quit...," Frankly, they disagreed, this is as good a time as any to start their life together, the spark you'd reignited shining bright within their hearts...

“You don’t get it Nat, the lights are what makes it christmas! It’s the one thing I love every year, they’re special!” Is what the feverish witch had yelled - well, croaked to be more accurate - earlier in response when Nat had put her foot down and decided neither of them would be attending the city’s national light switch on event.
Natasha hadn’t said it to cruel or unfair, she did have a point. Wanda was sick. Way too sick to be stood around shivering in the cold, even if she’d worn a coat, the icy bite in the wind would’ve been sure to have left her with the chills. Still, the watery tears that had slipped helplessly down her wife’s flushed red cheeks at the news had made her feel horribly guilty at her decision. It wasn’t like she hadn’t been looking forward to it too, the whole team usually met up. It was always a good night but she simply knew that Wanda would’ve gotten herself 10x sicker in the process.
Wanda hadn’t been said much after that, she simply wiped her tears and taken herself back to their bedroom, shutting the door behind her with a slam louder than necessary - a clear sign she wasn’t in the mood to simply talk things over.
As Natasha stood alone in the dimly lit living room, she couldn't shake off the weight of Wanda's disappointment. She knew it was probably the fever heightening her emotions but the way her bottom lip had wobbled as she tried not to cry at the news had her heart torn into bits. She could’ve leave it like this.
For now though, she gave Wanda space. Fighting back the urge to slip into their bedroom and hold her through the tears. Instead Natasha quietly slid past the room, being mindful of the creaking floorboards that threatened to give away her plan and headed up towards their attic.
Creeping open the attic door, the smell of dry air and dust make her cough instinctively as she crept inside. It was a little dark but it wasn’t hard to spot the piles of boxes in one of the corners. Wiping the settled dust from the top of one, she read the label scribbled on in black sharpie, “Christmas Decoration’s.”
“There we go.” Natasha whispered to herself, as her vision began to slowly come into plan.
She continued to open up the several boxes, searching around in them to grab exactly what she wanted and in the end she was left with countless strings of wire and bulbs.
Back downstairs, she looked around the toom with determined eyes and a softened resolve.!Natasha began draping the twinkling lights around the living room. She carefully wove them through the bookshelves, wrapped them gently around the framed photos on the walls, and adorned the windows with a warm, festive glow.
As each strand illuminated, Natasha couldn't help but smile, imagining the joy it would bring to Wanda. The room slowly began to transform from it’s somber atmosphere into a magical haven of twinkling multicoloured lights, creating dancing shadows and sparkling glows on the walls.
She even took extra care to fashion a cozy nook in their favorite corner, entwining the lights around their shared armchair. The room was now a symphony of colors and warmth. Everything looked perfect and Natasha found herself taking a step back, resting her hands on her hips as she admired her work. She was going to love it.
After a final checkround, the redhead flicked off the lights, the room being consumed by darkness in their absence. It took a moment for her eyes go adjust but when they did, she made sure everything looked tidy before smiling to herself and heading to their kitchen.
Despite her fluffy socks, tiles were cold against Nat’s feet as she padded over to their cupboards to search the shelves. It didn’t take long to find what she wanted. She took careful care of quieting preparing Wanda’s mug. Now hot chocolate would’ve been the go to in a normal situation but she didn’t want to risk upsetting her stomach again after how long it had taken for it to settle the previous night. So instead Natasha made a soothing cup of sweet lemon tea, making sure to add in a generous helping of honey.
Natasha carried the steaming mug back to the bedroom, knocking softly on the door. "Wanda," she called out gently. "Can I come in baby?”
There was a muffled response, and Natasha took it as an invitation. Slowly pushing the door open, she found Wanda curled up under the blankets, looking both exhausted and fragile.
"I thought you might need some warmth," Natasha said, offering the cup of tea. Wanda looked up, her eyes still puffy from crying, but a faint smile tugged at her lips.
"Thanks," Wanda whispered, taking the cup from Natasha's hands.
The aroma of sweet lemon filled the room as she took a careful sip. Natasha sat down on the edge of the bed, watching as Wanda seemed to relax a little. "I know the lights outside are special, but you understand it’s not worth putting your health at risk for.” She murmured, her soft finger coming to trace the spots where previous tears had been on her wife’s cheek, “But I still wanted to make it special for you…”
Without much more of a warning, Natasha slid her hands underneath Wanda, lifting her with ease as she gave a small yelp of surprise before clinging onto her shoulders tightly. She found herself being carried back to the living room but before she could question everything, they stopped as they stepped foot into the dark room. Nat had slipped her a small remote, smiling down with an unmistakable grin.
“Press it.”
Wanda turned her head to cough raspily before she looked up in confusion, “What?”
“Just press it!”
Wanda hesitated for a moment before pressing the button on the remote. Instantly, the room erupted in a breathtaking display of twinkling lights. The rainbow of glow shimmered around them Wanda’s eyes seemed to echo their sparkle as they widened in surprise.
"I... I don't understand," Wanda whispered, her voice shaking a little as Natasha carefully set down onto her feet beside her. The witches gaze moved from the lights to Natasha, her heart swelling with emotion. "You did all this for me?"
Natasha nodded, her eyes reflecting the sincerity of her actions. “I know how much you love the lights, I just wanted to cheer you up a little bit my love.”
Wanda's lips quivered, but this time it wasn't from sadness. "Nat, you're incredible," she said, pulling Natasha into a tight embrace. The room was aglow with warmth, both from the lights and the genuine love between them.

I like how you write, so I was wondering if it was possible a "Kate x FemReader" where Kate was a little distant and cold and the reader was sad, they argue a little about this but the truth is that Kate preparing a surprise for the reader's birthday, something for the two of them, romantic and fluffy. Thank you if you'll do my request. (*^ワ^*)Have a great day/night❣
Promises
Pairings: Kate Bishop x Fem!Reader | Wandnat x Daughter!Reader
Summary: The request!
Warnings: Mentions of cheating
Word Count: 4.2k
Author’s Note: Sorry it took me a bit to write this request, but here is it! I hope you like it! Also, I apologize for any grammatical errors. ❤️
Tumblr media
You weren't sure what had caused Kate to become so distant lately. It seemed like she was always too busy to spend time with you, and you didn't know why. She'd been more secretive with her phone and her whereabouts, and it honestly worried you.
Was she cheating on you? Had she lost feelings and was just afraid to say something?
So many possible reasons for her recent behavior ran through your mind, and it scared you to think that some of them might actually be true.
With your birthday being in only a week you hoped none of your thoughts would become reality because that would be the worst birthday present in all of history. But you didn't know anything for sure besides the change in her behavior began a couple weeks ago...
~~~
"Hi, Katie!" you happily greeted your girlfriend as you flopped down next to her on the couch of the compound living room.
She quickly shut her laptop that was on her lap before looking at you, "Hey, baby!" Kate nervously chucked, "When did you get here? I thought your moms didn't have to come in until tomorrow."
You slightly frowned at her actions, "Just a few minutes ago. Fury called them in for a last minute meeting, so I decided to tag along to come see you."
"Well I am extremely happy to see you, pretty girl. I missed you." Kate softly spoke as she leaned in to kiss you, but before your lips could touch you placed a hand on her chest to stop her. She looked at you with worried eyes and pulled back, "What's wrong?" Kate asked.
"What were you doing on your laptop?"
She hummed in confusion with furrowed eyebrows at your question. "When I came in here you closed your laptop like you were hiding something. Are you?" you clarified.
"What? No, I would never hide something from you, baby. I just wanted to give my full attention to my girl now that you're here." Kate assured you with a sincere smile.
You searched her eyes for any signs of deception, "Are you sure?"
"One-hundred percent, my love." she confirmed before you just decided to let it go with a nod of your head, "Wanna watch a movie? Yelena went shopping earlier and bought some of the good snacks if you're hungry." Kate suggested as she reached for the television remote to turn on the TV.
"Sure, as long as I get to pick what we watch. Your taste in movies is a bit...different?" you said with a giggle.
"Fine," Kate playfully rolled her eyes while standing up, "You pick the movie, and I'll go get snacks." she said, leaning down to peck your lips before heading off into the kitchen.
~~~
You thought that would just be a weird one time thing from your girlfriend, so you pushed it to the back of your mind and tried to forget about it. That was going pretty well until her suspicious demeanor continued and the amount of unusual behavior from her started to pile up.
Like when she canceled your date night plans at the last minute a few days later...
~~~
You were laying in bed reading a new book you've been obsessed with when your phone rang from beside you. Your eyes shifted away from the pages to look at the screen and when you saw your girlfriend's contact name on the screen, your heart fluttered.
Setting aside your book, you tapped the button to answer and held the phone up to your ear, "Hi, Katie!"
"Hey, baby." she responded, her tone sounding a bit sorrowful which caught your attention immediately.
"What's up? Are we still on for tonight? I've been looking forward to it all week." you questioned with a grin just at the thought of seeing her later on.
"Um, yeah, about that..." Kate trailed off.
You furrowed your eyebrows, "What's wrong?"
"I'm gonna need a rain check on our date. Something came up and I can't make it." she explained.
Your once fluttering heart dropped at her words. You had been so excited to finally spend time with her after being busy with your moms all week.
You missed her.
Kate told you she missed you just as much which is why she promised to keep her schedule today clear of missions and anything extra. But you can't blame her because it's not her fault.
"Oh," you said sadly, "That's okay. What came up? Did Fury give you a mission?"
"No, I just have some personal stuff that I have to take care of. I'm sorry, baby. I know you were excited for our date, but I promise I'll make it up to you soon." Kate answered which made you frown.
You both tell eachother everything, so you found it odd how she wasn't telling you what came up that caused her to cancel on you at the last minute. You were confused, but you decided to just leave it alone for now.
"Okay, I understand. I'll talk to you later?" you asked, hopeful.
"Yeah, of course, I'll call you. I love you." she responded. You repeated the words back to her before hanging up.
Dropping your phone, you rested your head back on the headboard with a sigh. Personal stuff? What was that supposed to mean? You didn't wanna think about it at first, but the thought of her possibly cheating on you or having lost feelings now seemed like it might actually become true.
A knock on your bedroom door broke you out of your thoughts, "Yeah?" you called out.
The door opened revealing Wanda, "Hey, dinner will be done in a couple minutes if you're hungry." she said.
"Alright, thanks." you gave her a small smile that, as your mother, Wanda was easily able to tell you forced out.
"What's wrong, darling?" she wondered.
You looked up at her with a hum, "Nothing, I'm fine." you answered.
Wanda playfully rolled her eyes at the lie and entered your room, taking a seat on the edge of your bed, "You know you can talk to me, right? I know kids don't necessarily prefer to talk to their parents about their problems, but I want you to be able to talk to me."
You nodded your head, "Yeah. Yeah I know." you said while sitting up, "It's nothing, really. Kate and I might just be going through a rough patch."
She lightly frowned, "What do you mean?"
"I don't know. Kate's been acting a little off. First she started hiding things from me, and now she just canceled our date because 'something came up' in her words." you explained and Wanda just listened, "I just feel like something might be up with her."
Wanda had a sympathetic expression on her face as she looked at you, "Oh, I'm sorry, honey. Have you talked to her about it?"
"Yeah, the first time it happened. She promised me there was nothing going on so I left it alone, but now I'm starting to doubt that." you responded.
Wanda just pulled you in for a hug, comfortingly rubbing your back, "I'm sorry, sweetie. I'm sure things will get better very soon. Your mom and I both know that Kate loves you too much to let you go, but we're here for you if you need us."
"Thanks, mom. I think I'm just gonna go eat dinner and then settle down for the night." you pulled away from the hug.
"Okay, sweetie. I love you."
"I love you too." you said before she left your room, closing the door behind her.
~~~
That leads you to now.
Kate was driving you home after going on your rescheduled date that she promised to make up to you. Your birthday was tomorrow, and things were seemingly back to normal. Kate had been showering you with affection and she called you fifteen times a day just to tell you that she loved you like she always had.
Wanda was right when she told you things would get better...but it didn't last.
You and Kate were singing along to your favorite song when her phone rang. She took her phone out of the cupholder and looked between the screen and the road. You watched as she pressed the red button to quickly decline the call and then set her phone in the compartment on her door, away from you.
"Who was that?" you asked.
She shook her head, "Nobody."
That's how she always answered whenever you asked what was up. She brushed it off and it was beginning to get on your nerves.
"Are you cheating on me?"
To say Kate was shocked at your question would be an understatement. 'Why would you ever think such a thing?' she thought to herself. She loves you more than anything in this world, and Kate thought you knew that.
"Because if you are, just tell me so we can get this over with." you added.
"Baby, where is this coming from? Why would you think I'm cheating on you?" she asked, glancing at you before looking back at the road.
You shrugged your shoulders with a scoff, "Oh, I don't know. It's just the way you've been acting recently. Like that time where you shut your laptop the second I walked into the room, and then you took a raincheck on our date because you had 'something to take care of'. Now someone just called you and you're gonna tell me that it's nobody?"
As Kate listened to you she cursed herself for not realizing what her recent secretiveness looked like. Now she understands why you would think she's cheating on you, but that's not what's not even close to happening. Kate would clear everything up for you right now if she could, but she couldn't.
That would just ruin what she's been planning.
"Listen, I understand why you'd think that and I'm sorry for making it seem that way, but I promise you I am not cheating on you. I would never." Kate assured you, but you just rolled your eyes. "Nothing is going on, you just have to trust me, baby." she said as she parked the car in front of your house.
"I've swept everything under the rug because I trust you, but I'm tired of it now, Kate." you said.
Kate sighed and looked at you, "I know, baby, and I'm sorry. I love you so much, but I can't tell you right now. "
It was your turn to sigh now, "Fine" you unbuckled your seatbelt, "Just call me when you wanna tell the truth." you said as you got out of the car and made your way inside your house.
She watched you close the front door with guilt written all over her face. Kate never meant to upset you. She just wanted to plan a surprise for you to make you happy, but she sees now that she wasn't very good at trying to keep it a secret.
Kate just hopes that you're not too mad at her to talk to her tomorrow when she can finally show you what she's been doing all this time.
~~~
"Good morning, honey. Happy birthday!" Wanda enthusiastically spoke when she heard you enter the kitchen the next day.
You gave her a smile as you sat down at the kitchen table, "Thanks, mom."
"Got any plans for today? Going out with friends or are you and Kate doing something?" she asked, keeping an eye on the food she had cooking.
You sighed at the mention of your girlfriend, "I don't know. We got into a small argument last night when she dropped me off and haven't talked since."
"Who got into an argument last night?" Natasha jumped in as walked into the kitchen. She approached your spot at the table and leaned down to kiss the side of your head, muttering a 'Happy birthday, sweetheart.' to you before going to look through the fridge for something to drink.
"Thank you, mama." you said, "Kate and I got into a small argument when I asked her about why she's been acting so off recently."
Natasha and Wanda looked at each other before turning to you, "We're sorry, darling. Your mom told me about that night when she canceled your date. I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt you. We see how much Kate cares about you so I know things will eventually work themselves out. You probably have nothing to worry about, dear." Natasha reassured you and Wanda nodded her head in agreement.
You tried to think positively after seeing how your moms were doing so, but you were finding it kind of hard to. However, what you didn't know was that they were fully aware of Kate's plans, which is why they were trying to comfort you like this.
She had let them in on her idea to surprise you for your birthday so that she could ask their opinions on things, but now they were silently scolding Kate for upsetting their daughter because of her inability to act normal while sorting out this surprise.
You just shrugged your shoulders as they sat at the table with you, setting down plates of food. That was when your phone dinged, letting you know you had gotten a text. You looked at the lit up screen that had a message from Kate's contact.
Good morning, pretty girl! Happy birthday! I'm sorry about last night and I hope you're not too angry with me about it. I'm a little busy this morning so I won't be by until evening, but I love you so much and I hope you have a great start to your day! I'll see you later, my love. ❤️❤️❤️
You weren't sure what to think at this point. You were confused. Deep down you know that Kate would never hurt you, but then why had she been acting like this? You wanted answers, yet weren't getting them.
Letting out a sigh, you stood up from your chair, "Actually, I'm not really that hungry."
Wanda and Natasha glanced at each other, "Are you sure, honey? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Wanda chuckled in an attempt to lighten the mood.
"Yeah, I'm just a little tired. I'll be up in my room if you need me." you said before making your way upstairs.
They heard you bedroom door shut before sighing.
"Bishop better make this little surprise worth it if she's gonna upset Y/N this much." Natasha practically growled, turning to her wife.
Wanda shook her head, "It'll be fine. Remember how stressed out she was when trying to find a present for her? Kate cares too much to give Y/N anything less than what she deserves."
Natasha leaned back in her chair, "I hope you're right."
~~~
It was now evening and Kate just pulled up to your house. The sun was set, the stars were out, and everything had been working out perfectly. She knows however, that it might be a challenge to convince you to come with her.
She walked up the front steps with a bouquet of your favorite flowers for you in hand and rang the doorbell, patiently waiting for someone to answer.
A few moments later the door opened, revealing Wanda, "Kate! Hi, it's good to see you." she said as she stepped aside to allow Kate inside.
"It's good to see you too, Mrs. Romanoff." Kate replied with a genuine smile.
"Y/N is up in her room. She's barely come downstairs today because she's been so upset." Wanda told her which made another wave of guilt wash over her. She thanked Wanda and made her way to the stairs, politely greeting Natasha on the way.
Kate stood outside your room and took a deep breath before knocking on the door. She waited for you to answer before opening the door and stepping inside, "Hey, love." she said.
You lifted your head away from your book to look at her, "Hi." you quietly responded.
She approached your bed and held the bouquet out for you to take, "I know the old ones are starting to die, so I got you new ones."
You took the flowers from her with a small smile, "Thank you, Katie."
Kate stood there for a moment, contemplating what to do, "Listen" she started, sitting next to you on your bed, "I know you're mad at me for how I've been acting recently, but I have a reason for it. I couldn't tell you before, but I can tell you now." she said, "Well I can't really tell you, I have to show you."
"Kate it's late and I'm tired–"
"Please," she cut you off and took your hand into hers, "Please, just come with me. You said you wanted the truth, and what I'm about to show you is the truth."
You gazed into her pleading eyes and thought for a second, "This is gonna explain what you've been up to all this time?"
"Yep," Kate smiled, "So get your cute butt up, get dressed, and let's go." she grinned at your giggle and kissed your forehead before leaving the room to let you get ready.
A few minutes later your footsteps walking down the stairs interrupted Kate's conversation with your moms. She looked at you with adoring eyes, "Ready to go, beautiful?" she asked, standing up from the couch.
You hummed as she grabbed her keys and led you to the front door with a hand on your lower back.
"Hey, Bishop," Natasha said before you could walk out the door. Kate turned around to look at your mom who had her arms crossed, "Drive slow."
Kate gave her a quick nod of her head in understandment, "Yes, Mrs. Romanoff." she agreed before leading you out of the house and to her car.
"Where are we going?" you asked as she pulled out of the driveway.
"You'll see soon enough." Kate smiled at you.
And you did.
A little while later Kate parked in front of a place that you both knew like the back of your hands even in the dark. It was the lake that you had your very first date at after Kate asked you out.
She had set up a nice lakeside picnic on a sunny, breezy day where she taught you how to use her bow, and you fed the ducks and skipped rocks.
You haven't been back since, but you were happy Kate decided to bring you.
"Katie, what're we doing here? We haven't been here in forever." you gazed out the window, taking in the familiar sights.
"Come on, I'll show you." Kate said, getting out of the car with you. She grabbed your hand and intertwined your fingers to lead the way.
She began following the dirt trail through the trees and along the lake. It hadn't been too much of a long walk when Kate stopped, "We're almost there, so I'm gonna cover your eyes now. Do you trust me?" she asked.
"Yeah, of course." you answered before she placed her hands over your eyes and carefully led you the rest of the way. When she eventually stopped again you assumed you had arrived.
"Okay, are you ready?"
"Yes, Katie, just show me already." you said and she chuckled at your eagerness.
When she removed her hands from your eyes your breath hitched at the sight. It was just like your first date, but so much more. Blankets and pillows were laid on the grass with food sat on top and lit candles carefully placed on the ground.
Rose petals were scattered all around, fairy lights hung on the branches of the surrounding trees which gave the scene a beautiful, romantic glow with the sound of the gentle ripples of water from the lake.
It was gorgeous.
"Do you like it?" Kate hopefully asked.
"Like it?" you repeated in shock, "I love it...I love it, Katie."
She breathed out a sigh of relief, "Thank god, I thought it would be too much. I mean you didn't tell me what you wanted to do for your birthday, but I knew I obviously had to do something so I practically begged your moms to help me plan this. They probably got tired of me–"
"Wait, my moms knew about this?"
Kate scratched the back of her neck, "Well, yeah. They helped me pick out some of the decorations and your mom gave me recipes for the food because we both know I can't cook."
You giggled, "It looks amazing. This is what you've been up to lately? You did all of this yourself?"
"Not all of it. Yelena helped me set most of this up. She's actually the one who called me yesterday. She was letting me know that she got the fairy lights I asked for. I just told you it was no one so you didn't get suspicious, but that clearly backfired." Kate confessed.
"Oh," you mumbled. Now you're the one who felt guilty for ever doubting Kate's loyalty to you. You should've known better, "I'm sorry for not believing you when you said there wasn't anything going on. I was just worried."
Kate shook her head with a small smile, "It's okay, I understand. I was acting pretty weird so you had every right to suspect something. But, now you know what I've been doing so there's no need to think about it anymore, okay?" she spoke to you softly, gently cupping your cheeks.
"Okay." you whispered. Kate leaned down to capture your lips in a tender kiss, moving her hands down to your sides as yours went to her neck.
You eventually pulled away when air became a necessity and Kate rested her forehead against your own, "We should probably eat the food before it gets cold." she said.
Nodding your head you let her take your hand and lead you towards the blankets where you sat down and began looking through the options.
Time always felt like it flew by at a lightning speed whenever you were with Kate. You could never get enough of the way her terrible jokes made you laugh to the point where you were out of breath, or the way she looked at you while you were talking, how she took her time whenever she kissed you.
You could never get enough of her.
So you shouldn't have been surprised when a couple hours of you two flicking food at each other, and skipping rocks, and laughing until you couldn't breath, and sharing sweet kisses ended up passing by.
"And then Tony got so mad at me and Clint for destroying all of that equipment with the arrows we made that he just ended up making a whole separate room solely for archery." Kate said and you giggled as she was telling you about one of the many times she's stressed out Tony.
Kate gazed at you as your laugh gradually winded down with adoring eyes. "Hey, I actually got a little something for you." she said, searching through a bag that was set off to the side.
"Oh Kate, you didn't have to. This is already enough as it is." you gestured to everything she had set up around you.
"Yeah, but I wanted to. Besides, I think you're really gonna like this." Kate spoke as she pulled out a small pink box with a cute ribbon decorating it and handed it to you.
You looked between her and the box.
"Go on, open it. It's what I was buying that day I hid my laptop from you. It's also what I went to pick up when I canceled our date, so this almost got me in trouble." she laughed with you and watched as you untied the ribbon and opened the box.
You gasped at what sat in the center of the box. It was a gorgeous silver ring with a small heart shaped diamond attached that shimmered in the dimly lit area.
Kate gently grabbed the box from you and took the ring out, holding it in front of you, "Now it's only a promise ring, but I hope to eventually change that." she said and you giggled, "I want this ring to remind you of how much I love you whenever you look at it, Y/N. I promise that one day, I'll replace this ring with an engagement ring, but until then I want you to know that I'll always stay loyal to you because I love you more than anything else in this world."
Her words were so sweet that a single tear ran down your cheek. She reached out wipe away the tear before taking hold of your left hand and you gladly let her. She slipped the ring onto your ring finger and admired how it was a perfect fit.
She brought that hand up to her lips and gave it a soft kiss, "I love you, Y/N. So, so much." she whispered to you.
You surged forward and connected your lips in a passionate kiss. You had caught Kate so off guard that she had to hold your waist steady to keep from falling back as you wrapped your arms around her neck.
"I love you more, Katie. So much more." you breathlessly spoke against her lips before connecting them once again.
She grinned into the kiss, "Happy birthday, baby."

Don’t you worry child.
Tumblr media
WandNat!! Art not mine.
Warnings; Mention of death, Depression, Eating Disorder, Anxiety, Puppy Wanda and Mommy Natasha. (Eventually.) Lactation, Drunk flirtation.
After AOU, Wanda is unable to take care of herself, so Natasha, the only other girl in the compound, takes Wanda under her wing.
3k word
Wanda was just quiet. She laid there, on the ship back to New York. She didn’t want to leave Sokovia. She wanted to die there. Now as she sat there, staring at her brothers body, next to Clint, who just sat there. She tucked her knees into her chest as tears fell down her face. She wasn’t truly crying. It was just tears, no sound, no unsteady breathing.
She tried wiping them away, but they just kept falling from her face. Hearing soft pats from behind her, they don’t to get closer, after they came to a stop, she heard a voice, a soft one, “Hey there, little witch.” She pondered looking up, not that she needed to, the is due to the fact that the person making the steps sat next to her, and wrapped a warm arm around her.
“Let Go.” Her accent was think, but her voice was barley loud enough for the redhead next to her to hear. Nodding, Natasha let her arm fall off of Wanda. “I’m here for you, okay? I’m gonna take care of you from here on out. Anything you need, Wanda.” Wanda scoffed, she finally looked up, her eyeliner ran down her face, black streams stained, she opened her mouth to sass back at Natasha, but was stopped when had a went up to cup her face.
“Oh Wanda. Your make-up is all ruined. Here,” She wiped some of the stains off the best she was able, Wanda then realized that maybe she wasn’t being messed with. That Natasha truly meant this as an act of kindness. To Natasha’s surprise, the small brunette laid her head on her shoulder.
Tumblr media
Much to the dismay of Natasha, Wanda was very timid at first, but it was understandable. So when Wanda didn’t want to get close, or told Natasha to leave her alone. Natasha did just that. She knew Wanda wasn’t taking care of herself, so eventually, after two weeks, she had to force herself into Wandas life.
Walking into Wandas room, Natasha found a sleeping girl who had grown to be skinny, Wanda was wearing nothing much, but only a bra and sweat pants, her rib cage being evident. Natasha began to pick up around the room. Throwing dirty clothes into the hamper, picking up trash, sweeping, trying her best to be quiet. Wanting the best for Wanda, she always tried to do good for her. She looked at her and she saw the most beautiful girl ever, Wondering how the gods could let any evil happen to the poor girl.
She immediately turned when she heard Wanda begin to stir, putting the broom against the wall, making sure not to make another noise.
When tears fell down Wanda’s face and whines came from her mouth, Natasha hurried to her, gently shaking her. More whines and whimpers fell and Natasha held so much pity. She smiled when Wanda finally let her eyes open a bit, Natasha wiped her tears once again. “Hey there, sweet girl.”
Caught off guard by the nickname, Wanda scooted back. Now from the far eye, it may seem like the brunette held a hatred for Natasha. In reality, she was afraid to let her in. She didn’t want her heart to break again. What if something happens to Natasha? What would she do then? She knew nobody else had been willing to take her into care.
“What are you doing? Watching me sleep? Fucking creep.” She knew what Natasha was doing, but she washed it away and gave Natasha sass. Natasha laughed at the fact that Wanda thought she was creeping. Motioning the room, Natasha raised her eyebrows. Wanda spoke and so did Natasha, the redhead brought up a fact that had not yet crossed Wandas mind, or rather something she’s been telling herself, ‘I’ll do it tomorrow.’ And eventually, never doing it.
Natasha then, helped the smaller avenger out of her bed. Holding her hand as she guided her to the restroom, Wanda stared at the ground the entire time, embarrassed, believing herself as a child. Or, acting as if one. No grown adult needed an older figure to tell them to shower, she’d think. Natasha, on the other hand, was just glad she’d got as far as touching her face. Let alone getting her to shower. She was so proud of Wanda for agreeing.
“Your thoughts are very loud, Natasha.” She spat. Natasha smiled and shrugged, when the two of them got to the restroom, their hands separated. Opening the curtain, Natasha begun the shower water. Smiling, she spun back around to Wanda, who looked like she wanted to kill Natasha.
“So I’m gonna leave, I’ll be in your room, and uhm, yeah!” As she waltzed down to the door, she felt a tug on her shirt, stopping for a second, then turning around, she tilted her head and gave a questioning look to Wanda. Sighing, Wanda played with her fingers, stuttering.
“Could you, maybe, uhm, only if you’re fine with it, maybe, maybe stay with me? And help- help me? I just, I may not actually do it if you leave and,” putting a finger to Wanda’s lips, stopping what could’ve gone on for minutes, she nodded. Sitting herself on the toilet, she looked away as Wanda began to get undressed. The last thing she’d ever want Is to make her uncomfortable. She wants Wanda to trust her, not be scared of her.
“You’re gonna see it anyways.” Wanda muttered. Taking off her last piece of clothing. Why would Natasha close her eyes if she was planning to help? Maybe she wasn’t gonna help, maybe she was going to make fun of Wanda. Wandas breath got quicker as each point of worry hit her, putting her back against the wall, she tried to steady her breathing, in her mind was Natashas voice, taunting her. Saying such cruel words.
Really, Natasha stood right in front of her, holding her shoulders, looking in her eyes, trying to gain her attention, “Wands, I’m right here, it’s okay.” Natasha tried to get Wandas breathing back to normal; What worried her was that it took around 2 minutes. When Wanda finally snapped back, she looked around to get a good feel of her surroundings. After a minute or so, she leaned in to hug Natasha. Wrapping her arms around her, listening carefully to the voice telling her it was okay. “Everything is alright. You’re doing so well Wanda.”
Using the 54321 method and eventually letting go of Natasha, Wanda sat at the edge of the tub taking a few, before getting into the shower.

Wanda was glad to have Natasha. Thinking of how over the past few months, the older redhead would take care of her. Help her brush her teeth when she forgot or couldn’t. Helped her shower, washed her hair.
Even helping her though Nightmares of Ultron, those nights when she went into Natashas room to snuggle, the times when Natasha held her tighter than ever. Those were the times she cherished.
Though she seemed small, Wandas feelings were big. She had urges to stay close to her tall friend. Random moments where she felt like a kid, where she felt like Natasha was more than just a caring friend. Settling to look it up, she fell down a Rabbit hole, and stayed there, realizing much more about herself than she’d ever know.
‘Little space…Puppy space..’ she mumbled, reading more and more, finding videos and pictures and books.
Wanda suddenly jumped at the sound of an open door. “What are you doing pup?” A loud voice came, shutting her laptop, Wanda spun around quick.
“Nothing!” She grinned, embarrassed at what Natasha might find, she’d never let her know. Never. Ever. No way. It was to silly, to much, to dumb, it didn’t matter.
“It’s time to eat Princess.” Smiling, Wanda nodded, her eyes brightened. “Yes mo- Sorry, yes Nat.”
Giggling, Natasha walked to Wanda and kissed her forehead. There was nothing Wanda loved more than to get kisses from Natasha. Very common, yet very rare at the same time. The redhead began picking her up and taking her to the avengers dinner table, where nobody but them two sat. “I’m so proud of you Wands, you’ve came so far from 2 months ago.”
Nodding, Wanda took another bite of her food. Thinking about when Natasha came into her room, how she slipped, looking at Natasha, she really, really, wanted to be her puppy. She did love it when the sweet name was dropped, it made her so giddy.
Tumblr media
It was bedtime, teeth were brushed, cartoons were watched, songs were sung, storied had been told maybe a million times, and Natasha would tell them an infinite number of times once again. Now there laid a sleepy and warm Wanda, being tucked in for the 3rd time.
Leaving, Natasha was sure she heard something. Maybe she was also tired. She turned around to make sure, “Sorry, did you say something?” She questioned. Wanda nodded, reaching her hands out, Natasha snorted, Wanda was just so needy all the time. Looking into her pleading green eyes, she contemplated her answer, unsure if she should really let her up. It was already and hour past curfew and they had an early meeting tomorrow.
“No, Wanda, go to sleep.” She humored the thought of letting Wanda run around before crashing on the floor of a random section of the compound. “Mommy, cuddle,” Natasha’s world stoped. Staring at Wanda, who barley realized what happened. As the both of them processed the thought, turning around in her bed, she wanted to throw herself off the tower.
Meanwhile, Natasha had to stop herself from jumping up and down. ‘I’m her mommy!!’ Is repeating in her head for the billionth time. Walking to Wanda from her spot, she grabbed her arm and pulled to her hand, kissing the soft skin, smelling the mix of lotion and hand soap. Wanda moved her head so she could see Natasha. Much to her surprise, Natasha was smiling the biggest grin you could imagine.
“Scoot over pup.” Nodding rapidly, Wanda spotted to the very edge, making sure her new mommy had enough room, luckily, Natasha’s space was more than enough, pulling Wanda onto her, watching closely as she sucked on her own thumb as a means to get to sleep. Pulling it away from her mouth, Wanda whined, the whining stoped when she was handed a stuffy, “don’t use your icky thumb baby, I’ll buy you some toys and teethers soon.”
///
Getting Wanda up and dressed was typically easy. Doing her make up was a bit harder but what’s really hard is keeping her still during meetings. Natasha has tried just about anything, from no dessert to fidget toys. Wanda just didn’t care.
“Natty can we leave? Oh pretty please.” She whined quietly, continuing to tap her feet. She always moved but she was never loud, Wanda still wasn’t very comfortable with the Avengers. She was distant with all but Natasha and Clint.
“There’s ten minutes left. You can wait.” Wanda huffed and slumped in her chair. Her feet tapping became slower, causing the others to wonder why that one little noise had became quiet. When a select few of them looked at Wanda; They saw her visibly pouting. They didn’t want to get too close to her, crossing a line Natasha made, it was no secret she was feared by them. Wanda didn’t get it. Of course she had never felt with an angry and rough Natasha.
She was always sweet and tender. The timer to end the meeting dinged, Wanda was just about the first one out. Her smile was just so wide, Natasha had never seen her happier. “Sitcoms!” Wanda said, running to Natasha’s room. That’s right, Natasha had forgotten. She promised Wanda she could watch sitcoms and go back to sleep. How could she forget? Getting into her room, there laid Wanda, a remote in her hand and a smile plastered on her face.
“Sitcoms! You said we could watch the Dick Van Dyke show right, mommy?” Natasha sighed, Wanda was truly made with a whole heart of innocence. She was just the sweetest girl ever. “Yes, Wanda. We can watch your little show.” Claiming under the blanket with Wanda, Natasha wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close. Kissing her forehead.
Tumblr media
In a few weeks Wanda would be sitting on Natasha’s lap as usual, chewing on a puppy toy and watching her iPad that her mommy gifted her. Pressing whatever video on YouTube had seemed interesting. Natasha never paid mind to her, it’s not like you can post porn on YouTube anyway.
‘Motherly love’ the title read. On the front of it was a very beautiful woman, nursing her child. Wanda gasped. She wants that!! And if Natasha was her mommy and she was baby, then it could so totally work. Turning in Natasha’s lap, facing her, she began struggling to take off Natasha’s tank top. Laughing, the redhead grabbed her hands. Holding them together, and pushing hair behind Wanda’s ear.
“Puppy, what do you want.” Wanda picked up her iPad and showed Natasha the video, her big doe eyes pleading. Natasha raised her eyebrows, “baby mommy can’t-” Wanda immediately hopped off and ran to her dresser, grabbing a book out and flipping frantically. Finding a spell and muttering out words. ‘Oh god.’ Natasha groaned, pain immediately striking her breast. She laughed a bit and took off her shirt for Wanda. Throwing the bed on the book, Wanda raced to her mommy’s lap.
“Thank you mommy.” Wanda whispered, staring at Natasha’s chest, smiling, she pulled Natasha’s bra off and tried to find a comfortable way to lay. Deciding on across Natasha’s lap, she tried to latch on, her tongue going under Natasha’s nipple. She moaned when milk began to pour. Grabbing Wanda’s book, Natasha flipped through it. Looking down every once in awhile. Curious. She tossed the book away and looked down at Wanda. “You’re far too small. You don’t need that book anymore, you have mommy.” Blissed out, Wanda nodded. She didn’t care about the book, she had Natasha.
“It’s mommy and puppy against the world, Kay?”
///
Around the holidays, Wanda usually didn’t celebrate. But her mommy promised that they would and it would be the best Christmas ever; And Wanda believed her. She would believe Natasha if she said pigs could fly. Now it’s Christmas morning and she just can’t wait.
“Puppy, come, let me pick you up, fix the star up there.” All of the avengers were home for the holidays. Wanda and Natasha didn’t have a home per se. The two of them stayed in the compound during their days. They would be going to Clint’s this afternoon.
Wanda watched as her girlfriend put six presents aside. Assuming they were hers, she was surprised when Natasha handed her a wrapped box. Candy cane in her mouth, she pointed at the gifts. “Who are those for, mommy?” Smiling, Natasha explained that they were for her god children, Lila, Cooper, and Nathaniel. Who Wanda understood as ‘The Traitor.’
Opening her first gift, she practically jumped up and down when she pulled out a Nintendo 3Ds, hugging Natasha instantly, she smiled. Life was a lot different now, and she was so grateful for her mommy.
Tumblr media
Driving home was a hassle. With Wanda teasing and flirting from the backseat, realizing she has feet every two minutes. Giggles came from every part of the car. Trying to be strict, Natasha told her she shouldn’t be sneaking off and drinking without mommy’s permission; Wanda giggled, rolling her eyes and spitting out something along the lines of ‘I don’t give a fuck.’
Raising her eyebrows, Natasha knew that Wandas first punishment was in order. Though first, what mattered was that Wanda gets home and in bed. Wanda kicked against the car doors, she sat all the way up so her head was in the middle console. Smiling at mommy, she whispered little lines, ‘I love you, so much.’ But they only got more un-innocent.
She quietly moaned in Natasha’s ear, ‘please fuck me mommy, I need you so bad.’ Okay so double punishment, Natasha noted, she shouldn’t be teasing like that.
Getting home, Natasha brushed her babies teeth, changed her into her Jammie’s, and laid her down on the bed. “Are you gonna give me head yet?” Wanda groaned, laughing at her own jokes. With raised eyebrows, Natasha lightly slapped Wanda’s thigh, not enough to hurt, but enough to keep her from speaking.
As soon and Natasha laid down, Wanda wrapped her entire body around Natasha’s. Kissing her neck and chest. “I love you, Night mama.”
“I love you too.”
There laid Natasha and her puppy. Hers forever. Embracing the moment, she kissed the top of Wandas hair.

Descending down the stairs, Clint let out a low, tired whistle as he ran a hand through his hair. Three days ago, Natasha, Wanda, Steve, Thor, and Bruce had left for a special mission. One day ago, his niece and goddaughter Y/N had practically stumbled into the Avengers tower. He had been relaxing on the couch, reading a magazine when she emerged from the elevator. He still remembered F.R.I.D.A.Y announcing her arrival and looking up, nearly mistaking her for a zombie at first glance. (In his defense: she did look like one, but he never said that out-loud.)
It turns out that she had caught a nasty cold and developed a chill and a fever amongst the usual annoying symptoms. Unfortunately for the pair, their resident doctor was unavailable and Y/N insisted that they not bother Dr. Cho, saying that they could handle it themselves. Clint was prepared to take on the task, having dealt with many whiny, sniffling children of his own. But that was the other thing: as much as he wanted to, he couldn’t watch over her 24/7. He was a father himself and needed to go home to his wife and children. In his absence, Tony would take over, clad in his Iron Man suit as he absolutely refused to get infected from a teen.
On the bright side, the team was expected to arrive home any day now — perhaps even any minute. Clint had been so caught up in his trial and error to bring Y/N’s fever down that he hadn’t checked on the team’s progress. Now, Y/N had fallen into an uncomfortable sleep, but was resting nonetheless, giving Clint a break.
He wouldn’t say this to her, but he had grown worried about her condition. He knew that it was nothing serious, but not knowing when it would get better was his main concern. Plus, if Y/N didn’t get better soon, Clint would face the mighty wrath of two angry, protective mamas.
“Hawkeye is the best! Hawkeye is the best!”
Clint blinked, pulled back from his thoughts by the ringtone he had F.R.I.D.A.Y program. He got it out of his pocket, looking down at the screen to see the smiling face of Wanda staring back at him. He answered it with a simple, “Hello.”
“Hey! We’re going to be back soon. In about an hour or less, if Natasha speeds,” Wanda told him. Based on her cheery tone, Clint figured that the mission had gone well on their end.
Well, at least one of them had succeeded.
He imagined his redheaded partner-in-crime adamant to return home, since neither she nor Wanda tolerated being away from Y/N for very long on missions. She’d increase the Quinjet’s speed when Steve wasn’t looking (although she wouldn’t bother to hide it from him anyway, but she was a spy — sneaking was in her nature).
“That’s great! Maybe you guys can hold off on the mission briefing for a bit?” He proposed.
Although he couldn’t see it, he had a gut feeling that Wanda’s demeanor shifted immediately (and he would be right). “Why? Is everything okay?” She fretted, her nerves clear as day.
Clint bit his lip, eyes sweeping around the tower’s living room as he briefly wondered if he should go back and check up on Y/N. “She’s sick, Wan. It’s nothing too bad, but she’s had a fever since yesterday,” he admitted to her.
The Avenger quieted and Clint heard some shuffling before her voice picked up again. “Oh, dear. We’ll be back soon. Can I talk to her?”
He cast a look at the doorway, to the stairs where he had come from. “She’s sleeping now. She was up most of the night last night — at least that’s what Tony said,” he reported, recalling how the businessman quite literally typed up what happened on their paperwork. (He claimed he needed something to do while he watched Y/N, but they both knew that it was his way of distracting himself from his worries.)
“Poor dear,” Wanda murmured and he heard her take a deep breath. “We’ll see you soon.”
Tumblr media
The moment Natasha steered the Quinjet to touch down on the ground, she was out of her seat. Steve just barely made it to the controls in time to keep the wheels from being damaged.
Wanda popped up from her own seat and was hot on her trail, speeding up so they could walk side-by-side. Neither one of them needed to exchange any words, Wanda’s hand interlacing with Natasha’s with a firm grip was enough.
Both women were too deep into their own thoughts that they hadn’t realized that Bruce was right behind them, saying something about having to bring down Y/N’s fever. In fact, they only registered his presence when he slipped into the elevator before the doors could close.
“Oh, Bruce!” Natasha said, blinking as she watched the doctor catch his breath.
Bruce managed a tired smile at the wives. “We-we gotta bring her fever down. Depending on how high it is, an ice bath would be best. I gotta conduct the team check-ups as procedure, but all the medicine should be in the bathroom and let me know if Y/N needs anything,” he said.
Natasha nodded and found herself smiling at him. His words were music to her ears; a nice relief as it was the first piece of good news she had gotten since their mission had succeeded. “Thank you, Bruce,” she murmured, the weight of her gratitude conveyed in her simple words. She watched as he got off at two floors before them, heading to his and Tony’s shared lab.
Once the elevator continued its journey, Wanda’s hand found Natasha’s again. Natasha only had enough time to give her a reassuring squeeze before the doors opened; both women immediately sprinting out once they could.
Natasha went straight for Clint, her best friend, while Wanda made a beeline for Y/N’s room. He quickly greeted the spy and updated her on her daughter’s condition, and then followed her as she made her way to Y/N’s bedroom as well.
Not bothering to knock, Wanda’s heart broke when she saw her daughter lying in a sweaty heap on her bed. Her eyes were only half-open, her entire body trembling with each cough. Wanda left the door open for Clint and Natasha, who came tumbling in moments after, and gravitated towards Y/N’s bedside.
Natasha did the same as her wife, heading to Y/N’s unoccupied side, while Clint ducked out of the room to give his friends privacy and to get more medicine and supplies.
“Honey,” Wanda said softly, pressing the back of her hand to her daughter’s forehead. At the warmness she felt, she sent a look to her wife. “It’s your moms. We’re back from the mission.”
Y/N blinked a couple times until she could open them all the way, looking around until the realization set in of whom she was facing. “Hi,” she croaked out, managing a weak smile.
“How are you feeling? Let’s take your temperature,” Natasha said, taking the thermometer from Clint who had returned to the room. He crossed to the other side of the bed to give Wanda a damp cloth, a glass of water, and various medicines.
Y/N nodded and slowly eased herself up a little bit, leaning forward to allow her mother to take her temperature. They waited until the beep, and Natasha frowned as she reported that her temperature was 100 degrees. Not a high fever, but a fever nonetheless. Wanda took it upon herself to drape the damp cloth on Y/N’s forehead, and the teenager quickly relaxed.
Clint excused himself and the mothers calmly watched their daughter until her breathing had evened out and she had fallen asleep. For the first time since hearing about Y/N’s condition, Natasha allowed her muscles to relax as she lent back in her chair. Wanda smiled at her from the other side sympathetically and sighed.
“I know we haven’t done much, but just being here makes me feel better already,” Natasha murmured, her gaze shifting back to Y/N.
Wanda nodded, humming in agreement. “I think I’ll go cook us some dinner — if that’s okay? I’m thinking her favorite, with a side of soup in case it’s too much,” she said.
“That sounds wonderful,” Natasha agreed, catching Wanda’s hand and giving it an affectionate squeeze when she passed.
After she left and closed the door behind herself, Natasha continued watching over their daughter. She could tell that Y/N still wasn’t feeling the best, but at least she was not suffering as much since she was asleep.
When Wanda returned with the food, the smell lured Y/N out of her sleep. However, she awoke in a coughing fit, and Natasha jumped to pat her on the back while Wanda patiently held up a glass of water for her. When the coughs slowly subsided, she gratefully took small sips.
“Thank you,” she said, sounding less frog-like. Sniffing, Y/N’s eyes widened with glee when she spotted the food her mother cooked.?
Natasha and Wanda chuckled fondly at that, and Wanda put aside a serving for her daughter and wife. “Small bites, dear,” she advised.
Y/N nodded eagerly, and her mothers weren’t even sure if she had listened to what Wanda had said. The moment she was handed the plate, the dug into the food. Chewing, she leant back against her pillows dramatically.
“So good!” She said, her voice muffled by the food.
Natasha and Wanda smiled and dug into their own food. By the time the meal was finished, Y/N was already starting to feel better. She continued to let her mothers take care of her and the next morning — they had successfully won the battle against Y/N’s fever.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My eyes struggle to stay open. The world fades from black to reality. I’m currently sitting at my old cherry wood desk. The dim light of my phone read 23:12.
The light smell of roses fill my nostrils, it is from my incense burning on the corner of the desk. I have had it for so long that if you were to lift it you could clearly see where the dust stops. Leaving the true color of the wood visible. The scent calms me.
My shoulders destress letting my body melt into my old office chair. Earlier I had an argument with my mother. She told me wanting to hang out with my girlfriend was an act of sin and it was selfish of me to think otherwise. That automatically had tears burning my eyes and made my jaw tight. My cold fingers clenched at my pen. The thought of my mother being so unforgiving is too overwhelming.
I shoot up out of my chair, my body stiff. I could feel the impact of my chair hitting the opposite wall through the floor. The stress is too overbearing. My body is yelling for me to get out. It screams for me to move my legs. For the first time, I listen.
Blinking to bring myself back to reality I let my legs move. They move me towards the door. The bottom of my feet glide over the beige carpet covering the old creaky wood. My shaky hands wrap around the cold bronze door knob, pulling the door open.
My breath stops in my throat.
My eyes are met with my mothers. She is standing there in her pajamas with a look of worry in her eyes. Her mouth pulls into a line as she realizes what state I am in.
“Honey go back to bed.” Her hand goes to lay on my shoulder but I push past her.
I run out the front door, not caring how it is below freezing. My toes and finger tips go numb almost immediately. As the door slams shut behind me, at my own hand, I grab the spare key. Once the freezing metal landed in my pocket I took off running.
I made my way into the eerie woods next to my house. I usually come here to meet up with my friends when my mother gets bad. Sometimes she doesn’t come home until late. She’ll wake me up just to wrap her hand around my throat and to sting my cheek. Other times when she isn’t drunk she’ll slam her fist into my ribs till I am on the ground. That’s when she would kick me till I’m bleeding. The blood would come from the lesions her pointy leather boots make. Right now bruises cover my hips and neck.
I ran until my lungs burned and my legs were shaking in weakness. I can’t tell the difference between tree and person so I just keep running. My nose drips in cold and my feet are white now. The tears can’t help but warm my cheeks for a second. My running has slowed to a limp walk. My back aches and my legs were numb and it felt like I was walking on pins and needles. That’s when I came to an opening. The rays of the moon glimmered off the waterfall. It was small but beautiful.
I hear a stick break and my head snaps to the sound. Panic sets over me as I scan the opening. That’s when my eyes met with two people. A boy with blonde hair and a woman with pitch black locks. They were sitting with their backs to me, their shoulders touching. They looked close. A pang of jealousy ran through me. I wanted that. I don’t know who these two are but they look so happy.
I took a step forward and both their head looked in my direction. The boy had wide eyes and the women looked like she might have been ready to kill me. As I study their face I realize who these two are.
“Wanda?” My voice comes out shaky and I turn my attention to the body.
“Charlie?”
I must look crazy right now.
“Ri” Wanda says as her eyes scan over my body.
“Mom!” The boy said excitedly.
He ran towards me and and wrapped his arms around my waist. Charlie also came from a bad household. One day I was out with Wanda and we came across him shaking like a leaf in a dark alley. He looked so small and frail. We had asked if he was alright and if he needed help. He just simply nodded and let us lead him to Wanda’s house. There we would feed him, give him water, and somewhere to sleep safely.
“Are you okay? What happened?” His question brought me back to reality. It let my tears slowly drip down my face.
“My dear, let her sit.” Wanda laid her hand on his shoulder letting him step away from me. I give him a reassuring smile and kiss his forehead.
“Wanda, do you think we could go to Natalia’s house? I don’t feel safe at home.” Before I could even finish the sentence she was nodding her head and texting that we were on our way.
We walked to Wanda’s wife’s house. Natalia and Wanda have been married for two years. They met after Natalia was released by the AISE. She had been a retired Italian spy for a while. She has swore to me that she would protect me till her dying breath. Even if that was a bit concerning I appreciate her concern. She is my absolute favorite person. Whenever I come over we have late night conversations about life.
She has been my safe space for such a long time. I go to her for everything and she listens. She would hold me till the shaking stopped.
She was my mother when my real one wasn’t.
The moment I stepped foot on Natalia’s porch I was entangled in strong arms.
“Who do I have to kill?” Of course she knew something was wrong.
“My mother.” I frown and her arms tighten around me. Like they could stop the world from hurting me. I let tears run down my cheeks as my head rests on her shoulder. My whole body visibly relaxes.
“I’m sorry, honey.” She says with concern in her voice. I can feel her head move. Before I could worry she kissed my forehead in a motherly manner. She pulls away with a sigh.
“Where are your shoes?” She says a bit with an angry tone as she pushes me inside. Warmth travels through my body and my feet tingle. I hum in appreciation of the heat.
“I didn’t have time to put them on.” She glared but I knew it wasn’t directed at me.
She had lit a fire with the glare cemented to her face. But when she turned to me sitting on the couch her eyes softened. The crackle of the fire let my body sink into the cushions more. Exhaustion took over my body. The last thing I feel is a heavy blanket placed on my legs followed by fingers running through my hair and a kiss on my forehead again.
“Good night, my little dove.” Natalia whispered.
Another kiss on my head followed her words. Then Wanda spoke.
“Good night, bean. You’re safe now” A nickname Wanda has been calling me since I was young.
I could hear their light footsteps leading to their room then my world fades to a dream state.
I’m running. My legs close to collapsing and my lungs sting. Dark green pine trees blur around me. My eyes burn and a sob broke out from between my lips. I was running for my life. My heart pounding in my chest cavity. The wind is almost deadly. It made my hair stick to my lip gloss. His large footsteps follow close behind me. It sent terror through my body. I must have fallen or hit something because my world went black.
I was strapped down in a brown leather chair. The straps around my wrist and ankles were made of thick leather. The friction from them irritated my wrists. My head snaps to my left to see a machine. It had multiple gauges and one lever. It’s like something you would see as a person on death row. My body trembled with terror. The bright white light overhead was dulled by a man’s face in front of me. When he realized I was fully focused on me a smirk played on his lips. I beg and beg for my life. I don’t understand what is happening and I can hear my heartbeat in my ears.
No. no. no. no.
My husband stood next to him and I screamed for him to make this stop. But he just stayed silent. His eyes bored into mine. It looked like he enjoyed it.
A piece of wood was placed in between my lips and my eyes went wide.
No. no. no. no.
I struggle against the leather restaurants. I scream for help over and over and over again. But no one ever came. Tears spill from my eyes as I keep screaming for help. My ginger hair was sticking to my cheeks. The doctor demanded I stop with a slap to the face and a hand around my throat.
“Shut up.” He spat.
He pulled the lever and electricity shot through me. My scream rang through the building. The lights flickering and glass broke. My body convulsed with the lights. Each only stopped when the lever was lifted and electricity was no longer forced through me. By the time it stopped it was too late. With my eyes staring at my guilty husband, life left my body. Leaving my limp old self. All I could see my white with deafening silence. It felt like I was looking down at my dead body.
I jolt up, my heart pounding. My eyes frantically analyze my surroundings. Checking for any immediate danger. When I realize I am indeed alone I let out a deep breath. The fire was only small embers and a small chill broke over my skin.
I need Natalia and Wanda. But I fear they will yell at me. Even when I knew they would never, my mother drilled it in my brain. She said it was childish and I needed to learn to grow up. How could I? How could I when the panic and death felt so real?
Despite the war in my head I walk to their door. My hands trembling and my legs shaky.
I’m terrified.
I am careful not to step on any of the creaky floor boards. I softly bring my knuckles to the wooden door three times. Our emergency code knock. I felt like hours before I even heard movement. I was tempted to just turn around and try to suck it up. But the door opened and I was met with Natalia’s concerned eyes.
“Another nightmare?” She asked softly.
These nightmares happened so often when I was away from my mother. It’s like she cursed my brain.
I just nod and let the tears fall from my eyes. Her arms wrap around me and I almost collapse.
“It felt so real, Nat. I’m so sorry” I cry.
“I know, dove. It’ll be okay I promise.” She said and I responded with a small nod against her shoulder. I bury my nose against her neck and hug her like she might be taken away at any moment.
I felt a second pair of arms around my waist.
“It’s okay, bean. We will always love you” Wanda’s voice sounds so comforting. A sob escapes my mouth and a wave of relief washes over me.
“Thanks moms.” I joke with a shaky voice. A small smile is on my lips. Wanda gives me a little nudge with a chuckle and Natalia just chuckles.
“You watch yourself young lady.” Natalia smiles.
“Now why don’t we get you back to bed, dove.” Before I could even protest Wanda was saying something.
“Nat will sing you that Russian lullaby.” I nod and pull away from the two making my way back to the couch. Once I was comfortable they laid the heavy blanket on me and a melody played for Natalia’s lips. A small smile played on my lips and I let my body sink into the cushion once again. My eyes flutter closed.
“Спокойной ночи, мой голубчик” Natalia spoke.
Goodnight, my little dove.
They both placed a kiss on my head and made their way to their room. This time no nightmares threatened my sleep and I felt safe.
Finally
Fevered Love
〚 Prompt - “what is (name) going to say when she sees you like this?” 〛
〚 Pairing - WandaNat (with some added platonic Carol) 〛
╚════════ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ════════╝
“I’m really sorry love, you can’t come on this mission baby. You need to rest.” Nat sighed softly as she looked the the red nosed sniffly witch sitting stubbornly in the Quinjet dressed in her suit ready to fight.
“I’ll be fine Natty, just let me-“ Wanda began to whimper out her plead but paused and sneezed loudly into her arm earning a small sympathetic ‘bless you’ from her girlfriend, “Just let me come.  I want to help.”
“Baby we’ve been over this, you just can’t come on a mission with this cold sweetheart, you just need to go back, get into bed and rest. Sleep till your heart's desire.” The redhead whispered, slowly running a gentle hand through the witch’s slightly sweaty hair.
Wanda whimpered again, her energy and will to continue arguing her point quickly dwindling, “I want to fight.”
Realistically though she was in no way shape or form well enough to fight. Not only that, her frequent irrepressible sneezes were bound to reveal her location, and that was a major problem. They both knew this.
“No sweetheart, you are well enough to fight, you need to sleep.” Natasha sighed again and this time Steve stepped forward as he finished packing up the rest of the equipment.
He definitely wasn’t about to let this sick little witch on a dangerous mission with a pretty stern talking too he finally got Wanda, albeit reluctantly, to agree to stay behind.
Unfortunately for her, Nat wasn’t able to stay behind with her however. The Widow’s hand to hand, close combat style was key to the whole success of the mission.
So, with much reluctance, Nat kissed her sniffly girlfriend deeply and they said their goodbyes. The mission was only meant to last a couple of days, not long. Thats all they’d need.
Nat boarded the Quinjet, her heart heavy with worry for Wanda. She knew that her absence would be hard on both of them, but duty called. The mission was crucial, and the fate of innocent lives depended on its success.
As the Quinjet soared through the night sky, Nat couldn't help but replay their farewell in her mind. She longed to be by Wanda's side, to be able to look after her but there was no other choice. She had a job to do. She was an Avenger afterall.
She did feel a little better however knowing her girlfriend wasn’t completely alone. Carol, who was a little less vital to the mission, offered to stay behind to keep an eye on the sniffling sickie.
“Come on you.” Carol began as the two of them waved the team off, “Let’s get you laying down. Important decision incoming here, sofa or bed? You choose.”
"Sofa will do just fine, thanks," she replied, her voice slightly hoarse from her persistent cold. Carol gently guided her towards the living area, making sure she was comfortable on the sofa.
As Wanda settled in, Carol disappeared into the kitchen, returning with a tray filled with a steaming bowl of soup and a cup of herbal tea. "Thought you might need some nourishment," she said with a warm smile, placing the tray on the coffee table in front of Wanda.
Wanda felt grateful for her presence and care. She knew she would be in good hands while Nat was away. "Thank you, Carol. I really appreciate this," she said, her voice filled with sincerity. “Thanks for offering to stay with me.”
Carol shrugged, taking a seat beside Wanda. "We're a team, right? We look out for each other. Besides, it's not every day I get a chance to spend quality time with the infamous Scarlet Witch," she teased gently, trying to lift her spirits.
Numerous movies and naps helped the day to move along, the sky had grown a little darker outside and the once clear coffee table was now beyond littered with tissue and cough drop wrappers.
The sniffling brunette glanced at the mess infront of her and let out a tired mumble, “Sorry about all the mess. I’ll clean it all up when I feel better.” She finished with a yawn, rubbing her eyes sleepily.
Carol chucked and waved her hand dismissively, “It’s alright there’s no need to apologise we’ve all been there. You should probably head up to bed though, Nat told me not to let you stay up past your bedtime.” She winked, earning a slight scoff which turned into a series of raspy coughs.
Wanda mustered up a weak smile despite the coughing and pulled herself up and off the sofa, “I’ll head to bed then.”
“If you need anything just call me, okay? Or get FRIDAY to alert me. I’ll probably be in my room or down here if you need me. Make sure you keep drinking water.” Carol offered out an unopened bottle of water as Wanda yawned again. She nodded understandably, saying her final sleepy goodnights before wandering off in the direction of her room.
The next morning, Wanda woke up feeling even worse than the day before. Her head throbbed, and her body felt heavy with fatigue. However, her determination pushed her to get out of bed and face the day. The room span around her as the feverish Witch forced herself out from the safety of the bed and she shivered as the cool air hit her sensitive skin.
She stumbled into the bathroom, splashed cold water on her face, and looked over herself in the mirror. Her reflection stared back at her, pale and exhausted and the bags sitting beneath glassy eyes were obvious. She looked awful. But that didn’t matter, she had to train.
Taking a deep breath, Wanda made her way to the training room. She couldn't afford to let her powers weaken, especially with the threats they faced. She hoped that pushing herself through the training session would help her shake off the illness. Maybe that last part only sounded realistic to her fever clouded brain though.
As she entered the training room, the weight of her fever and exhaustion became even more apparent. Every step felt heavier, and her movements were sluggish. She tried to summon her magic, but her powers felt distant, as if hiding behind a thick, dense fog.
Wanda forced herself to start with some basic exercises, focusing on her physical strength. She pushed through a few sets of push-ups and squats, but her weakened body protested with every movement. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead, and her temperature rose further sending her into a spiral of dizziness.
Ignoring her body's pleas for rest, she moved on to honing her telekinetic abilities. She lifted weights with her mind, struggling to maintain her concentration. The objects wobbled and dropped more frequently than usual, frustrating her.
After what felt like an eternity, Wanda collapsed to her knees, panting heavily. Her body shook with exhaustion, and her vision blurred. She knew she couldn't push herself any further as she coughed and spluttered for every breath.
Somehow, she managed to drag herself into the showers attached to the main female changing room. The hot steamy water helped with her congestion a little, sending her into a flurry on desperate sneezes, but for that fever?
The poor woman could hardly stand by the time the water cut off and she stumbled out and weakly draped a thin towel around herself trying to rid herself of the body wrecking shivers brought on by the cold air on the changing rooms, before sitting down weakly onto one of the benches.
It was just as Wanda was beginning to give into her exhaustion when Carol came scurrying into the room, apparently, she’d be alerted by FRIDAY to her friend’s condition.
“Oh Wanda, what are you doing here sweet girl?”  Carol sighed as she found the shivering witch cradling herself in the corner of the changing room, “I thought you were meant to be resting, that’s the whole reason you didn’t go on this mission. What’s Nat going to say when she sees you like this?
Wanda couldn’t reply, only muffling an exhausted sounding sneeze into the flimsy towel which covered her soaking wet body.
Wanda weakly nodded, appreciative of Carol's concern. She mustered the little strength she had left and managed to dry herself off, although her limbs felt heavy and her head throbbed with every movement. She changed into a pair of loose sweatpants and a thin, baggy t-shirt (one that belonged to Nat) that Carol had brought down from her room.
As she settled on the bench, Carol returned with a glass of water and a small bottle of medicine. "Here, take this. It should help with the fever and ease your symptoms," she said, handing the medicine to Wanda as she raised her hand to check her temperature again, “You’re still really burning up.”.
The brunette forced herself to sit up straight and swallowed the bitter-tasting liquid, hoping that it would provide some relief. The medication left a soothing sensation as it travelled down her throat, and she closed her eyes, leaning back against the wall. While she was beyond grateful for the caring and love being shown to her by her teammate, all she wanted right now was Natasha. Her Natasha. Her Natasha who would wrap her up in her arms and hold her tight, telling her everything would be okay.
“Alright.” Carol began, startling the witch out of her racing, fevered thoughts, “Let’s get you to bed, okay? Nat’s mission is due to come home tonight, when you wake up tomorrow, she’s gonna be right there beside you. And while you’re laying down, I’m gonna go fetch you some of those gel fever patches”
The witch nodded, the drowsiness of the medicine finally taking effect. She allowed herself to lean on the older blonde as she assisted her back to the comfort and safety of Wanda’s room. She felt herself being surrounded by the warmth and softness of her comforter; the duvet being pulled over her as she settled into the mattress. Not long after she welcomed the deep cooling sensation meeting her forehead as Carol gently laid one of the fever patches over her forehead. She whimpered a little as it touched it. It felt so amazing and it wasn’t long before Wanda felt herself being slowly lulled away by the call of sleep.
Hours later, the sound of the main door opening and hushed voices reached Wanda's ears. She stirred from her slumber and, in her half-awake state, registered the familiar voice she longed to hear. Natasha was home.
Wanda's heart leaped with joy as she heard Natasha's footsteps approaching the bedroom. The door creaked open, and there stood Natasha, her face a mix of concern and relief. Their eyes met, and in that moment, all the worry and pain melted away.
Natasha rushed to Wanda's side, kneeling beside the bed and taking her hand in hers. "Hey, sweetheart. I'm here now," she whispered, her voice filled with love and tenderness.
Wanda's eyes filled with tears, but this time they were tears of relief and happiness. She managed a weak smile, squeezing Natasha's hand gently. "I missed you," she whispered back, her painful, raspy voice barely above a whisper.
Natasha leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to Wanda's forehead. "I missed you too, my love. Now, you need to focus on getting better. Carol told me I should change out this fever patch for you and I have some more medicine that you need to take sweetheart.”
Wanda nodded and she felt herself curling into the soft loving touch of Nat as she placed a fresh, cooling patch over her forehead to replace the old one. She also rubbed her achy back too when it came time to swallow down another dose as medicine.
Natasha's eyes filled with empathy as she brushed a strand of hair away from Wanda's face. "I'm so sorry I had to leave you alone," she said, her voice filled with remorse. "I never should have left you, especially when you were already unwell."
Wanda gave Natasha's hand a small squeeze. "It's not your fault. You had to go on that mission. Besides, I knew you would come back to me."
Natasha's gaze held a mixture of gratitude and love. "I promised I would, didn't I? And I always keep my promises."
Wanda's eyes fluttered with weariness, but she fought to stay awake a little longer, not wanting to miss a single moment with Natasha. "Tell me about your mission," she requested, her curiosity evident despite her sleet, tired state.
Natasha settled into a chair beside the bed, never letting go of Wanda's hand. She recounted the details of her mission, carefully choosing words that wouldn't overwhelm Wanda's fragile condition. She spoke of danger faced and victories achieved, all the while ensuring that her love and concern for Wanda shone through.
As Natasha spoke, Wanda's eyelids grew heavy once again, the exhaustion pulling her toward the solace of sleep. She could feel Natasha's presence, the unwavering support that radiated from her every word and touch. It gave her strength, knowing she wasn't alone in her battle.
"I love you, Natasha," Wanda whispered, her voice barely audible.
Nat leaned closer; her voice filled with tenderness. "I love you too, Wanda. Rest now, and I'll be right here when you wake up."
