Example of covert abuse via misogyny.

Never fall for a man's apology after he attacks you. If he never intended to hurt you, he wouldn't have attacked you in the first place. These apologies are manipulatory acts to avoid accountability.

Example

I called out a misogynist in a group where a man said transphobia is not allowing men to cosplay as women. He then messages me with the following:

"GO FUCK YOURSELF! I'm absolutely in no way a Misogynist! I'm protecting the LGBTQ community you sicko! OHHHHH wait your a psycho feminist who thinks all men are misogynistic huh.... grow the fuck up"

So basically, I was right.

So I put this on the group after his post and said he was a bully and I'm holding him accountable for it.

He then proceeded to say in messenger

"Clearly you've been hurt by Men, and I'm sorry but we aren't all bad. You came at me first.... I wouldn't hurt a fly, but owwww I'm a scary man...lol hilarious I looked at your profile, you've been traumatized by men in the past, but why would you accuse all men of being evil....that's just wrong. You have some deep seeded mental health issues, I hope you can get resolved."

But see how he fails to take accountability or apologize, instead shifting the blame onto me for attacking him first, which I didn't, and then use my history to attempt a guilt-trip and suggest I have issues?

This, my friends, is covert abuse. I've lived with it all my life. I know it back and forth, up and down, inside and out. And I now carry a verbal bat. I will batter you up well and good when you show yourself. Women deserve to be safe from assholes like him.

For whomever this may help, never ever accept an apology from a man who attacks you. Chances are, when you don't, he will show you the real him, loud and clear.

Women, it's time to grab your bats. Make 2024 the year we all show the world who these assholes are.
