Writer things ♣︎✎
Staying up all night because you are so invested in where your story's going
Thinking your story is a masterpiece one day and wanting to burn it the next
Procrastinating with tiktok/tumblr
Trying to draw your characters and miserably failing
Playing dramatic montages of your characters in battle in your head while listening to intense songs
Rooting for your own characters
Shipping your characters and then realizing 'oh wait... I can make them like eachother 😳"
smudges of pen or pencil on the sides of your hands
Rainy afternoons staring out the window and pretending to be a Jane Austen character
Harassing your pets because you need affection
Ranting about plot holes to your not-even-mildly-interested-friends
Reading other books and comparing your story to them
Talking to yourself like a crazy person
Daydreaming about your rise to author stardom
Writing 6 page entries in your journal
✨Anxiety ✨
Knowing that one day, you're gonna be someone's favourite author

Hey guys, to be honest, I'm feeling pretty discouraged about writing lately. I keep thinking about how anyone can use AI to generate any story they want - it's like a vending machine for fan fiction. And not just any fan fiction, but tailor-made to their specific preferences. How can I possibly compete with that? Why would anyone want to read something I write when they can have something that's perfectly matched to their tastes? Maybe I'm just being pessimistic, but it's hard not to feel like I'm just shouting into the void. #writingstruggles

❄️WEIGHING IT UP❄️ What's one thing you love about writing your current work in progress... and one part you really do not enjoy? Writing a novel is like stepping into a world of endless possibilities. The imagination runs wild and the characters come to life in ways you never thought possible. However, as with any journey, there are bound to be some obstacles along the way. One of the biggest challenges I face as a fantasy author is the dreaded 'middle of the book slump.' It's that point where the excitement of the beginning has worn off and the end is still not in sight. It's easy to lose motivation and wonder if all the time and effort put into the story is worth it. But that's the beauty of writing, it's all a test of perseverance. It's about pushing through the difficult parts and coming out the other side with a story that you're proud of. So, to all my fellow writers out there, keep pushing. Keep writing. Your story is worth it. What do you love and hate about the writing process? I’M STILL HERE... PROMISE
I feel terrible... totally disappeared off the face of the earth there for a long while... still very much IN it with school but things are slowing down a bit socially so I may actually have some time to devote to writing again. Came back on and was yet again blown away by the hotness that is Dylan O’Brien. DOB makes for some good motivation ;) just sayin’ #ifyouknowyouknow

5 Ways to Make Your Writing Sessions More Productive
Tumblr media
Writing can be a truly daunting task, and sometimes it can be challenging to get into the right mindset to be productive. Whether you're a professional writer or just starting, there are certain techniques you can use to boost your productivity and make the most of your writing sessions. In this post, I'll be helping you add five beneficial ways to make your writing sessions more productive, so you can achieve your writing goals efficiently.
Section 1: Set Clear Goals
The first step to making your writing sessions more productive is to set clear goals. Without clear goals, it's challenging to measure your progress and stay motivated. Start by defining what you want to accomplish in your writing session. It could be completing a chapter, writing a specific number of words, or finishing a blog post draft, etc. Once you have defined your goals, break them down into smaller, achievable tasks. Create a to-do list and prioritize the tasks based on their importance. This will help you stay focused and on track during your writing sessions.
Focusing on one task at a time will also help you avoid distractions and increase your productivity. Take the time to plan your writing sessions, and you'll see a significant improvement in your output.
Section 2: Create a Distraction-Free Environment
Creating a distraction-free environment is crucial for a productive writing session. Eliminate any potential distractions, such as social media notifications, phone calls, or emails. Turn off your phone or set it to airplane mode, so you're not tempted to check it during your writing session. If you're writing from home, let your family members know that you're working on a project and need some quiet time.
Choose a workspace that is comfortable and conducive to writing.
A cluttered or uncomfortable workspace can affect your concentration and reduce your productivity. Ensure that your workspace is well-lit and has good ventilation. You could also consider playing some soft background music to help you stay focused, but make sure it's not too distracting. Creating a distraction-free environment will help you stay focused and produce quality work in less time.
Section 3: Take Breaks
While it may seem counter-intuitive, taking breaks can actually increase your productivity. Sitting in front of your computer for extended periods can lead to burnout and reduce your creativity. Taking regular breaks can help you recharge and get back to work with renewed energy. Plan your breaks in advance and stick to them. It could be a short walk, a coffee break, or a reading session to one of those unfinished books sitting on your bookshelf. Whatever you choose, make sure it's something that helps you relax and recharge. Avoid checking your emails or social media during your breaks, as this can lead to distractions and reduce the effectiveness of your break. Remember, taking breaks is not a waste of time. It's an essential part of staying productive and achieving your writing goals.
Section 4: Write During Your Most Productive Time of Day
We all have a time of day when we're most productive. Some people are morning people, while others are night owls. Identify your most productive time of day and plan your writing sessions accordingly. During your most productive time of day, you'll be more focused, alert, and creative. You'll also be able to produce more quality work in less time. If you're not sure when your most productive time of day is, try experimenting with different times until you find the one that works best for you. Writing during your most productive time of day will help you stay on track and achieve your writing goals more efficiently.
Additionally, I am currently developing a writing session routine generator that is designed to be highly customizable and supportive. My aim is to deliver a tool that will be of great benefit to all of my followers and users.)
Section 5: Use Writing Prompts or Outlines
Using writing prompts or outlines can help you stay on track during your writing sessions. Writing prompts can help you get started if you're struggling with writer's block. They can also help you generate new ideas and perspectives. An outline is a structured plan that outlines the main points of your writing. It can help you organize your thoughts and ensure that your writing is coherent and well-structured. An outline can also help you save time by reducing the need for extensive revisions. Using writing prompts or outlines is an effective way to stay productive and produce quality work in less time.
As a personal guideline, I make it a point to have an outline, particularly for my blog posts, unless I am engaging in freestyle writing.
Conclusion
Writing is a challenging task that requires focus, discipline, and creativity. By following these five techniques, you can make your writing sessions more productive and achieve your writing goals more efficiently. Start by setting clear goals, creating a distraction-free environment, taking breaks, writing during your most productive time of day, and using writing prompts or outlines. Remember, productivity is not about working harder, but about working smarter. By implementing these techniques, you'll be able to produce quality work in less time, and achieve your writing goals with ease.

I've been working on this short story for what feels like forever, and it's long overdue. But I'm not giving up on it! Writing can be a slow and sometimes frustrating process, but I know that the end result will be worth it. I'm excited to see where the characters take me and how the story will unfold. Hopefully, I'll have it finished soon and be able to share it with all of you.

What’s Next?
Well, back to the grindstone. I finally found a new day job, so...what's next? Click to read and find out! #amwriting #writingcommunity #writerslife #writingstruggles #adulting
At the time of writing this, I’ll be starting a new job tomorrow. My first full-time one since last November. Since this won’t be published until Wednesday, for my dear readers, for you, it’s yesterday. The forecast tomorrow is heavy rain. Right now, at 18:00, we’re even under a tornado warning. If that isn’t poetic irony, I don’t know what is. Of course, my husband, being the loving support…

the writing cycle
being an author goes like this: you think about a book idea you get excited and you outline or pants it you write the idea but get imposter syndrome halfway you push through with coffee and tea and hope for the best you finish the book and you celebrate but then you realize that there's this thing called... editing

I feel silly, pouring my feelings out like this. But my mind won’t rest until I say it out loud. I feel like I’m speaking to the void, the primordial darkness - before God created light. Like I’m speaking to myself. Even so, maybe someone will be listening. In the late night hour I had an epiphany. It wasn’t something profound but it was something akin to a spiritual awakening. I stopped writing years ago because I felt like a one hit wonder. Like my success was a fluke, that I was a fraud and that I’d spent my life conjuring up a dream that would never happen. That for all my hard work I had no idea how to write and that there would never be time to learn and be successful. But one night I was ruminating, as one with depression does, and I realized: writing is your authentic self. It is the way you think, the way you perceive life and your experiences. It is an extension, a reflection of the culmination that makes you you. You will never succeed like others because you aren’t them. You are yourself. And there are things that I’ve experienced, dark things, that I have to release; to share with those who have quelled similar darkness. So that we may hope to understand our blight together. So that we know we’re not alone. And who am I to take that from either of us. . . . @author_paradise_ @thewhittepapers @thewriterswarmth . . . #writersofinstagram #writingcommunity #writers #writer #writingstruggles #idealism #authorsofinstagram #amwritingfantasy #fictionwriter #writing #depressionawareness #mentalhealthmatters #indiewriter #indieauthor #writinglife https://www.instagram.com/p/CRwcoKcA2j0/?utm_medium=tumblr

Hey guys, it's been a while since my last post. I've been struggling with doubts about my writing. Can I really be original when anything is potentially already written? It's tough to keep going when it feels like there's no point. Thanks for listening. #writingstruggles #originalityconcerns
