hello again !! I know it's been a minute and honestly I kind of just kept forgetting to post on here lmao . here's some HTTYD oc stuff I've done recently ~

My rider is Thyra , she's from an island that was known for fury breeding and taming before it was destroyed by grimmel the grisly . her dragon is Dawnbreaker ,,,,, her egg was damaged during the raid so growing up Dawn had some developmental issues so mentally she'll forever be a spunky little baby . Dawn loves to take people out for "surprise rides" and is a menace to flying safety lmao

meet one of my fairy tail ocs !!

This is Fenya ,,,, she used to be a mha oc but I kinda lost love for it because of how weird the fandom can be sometimes and I really love making oc content for animes I like so I decided to just take all my mha oc and plug them into different fandoms instead lmao

Fenya is an angel fairy ,,,,,, she can play around with any living things living essence (soul > life energy) . she can't outright kill a living thing by removing an essence from them , it just kinda turns them into a zombie until she gives it back . she can also fuse people together if she combines their life essences either into a third non living thing (ex. a rock) or into each other (ex. fusion that results in a new physical form like stteven universe or dragon ball) . her magic isn't very strong since she's never really needed a reason to be strong ,,,, her brother does all the hard work while she enjoys her childhood while it lasts .

She's permanently blind from an acid attack that also took out her left ear ,,, it happened when she was fresh out of the womb so she's fully developed beyond it but it does put her down when strangers react to it because she has no idea she looks like that .

Hey y'all I'm an artist and I wanna talk about this because things like this itch my brain kinda . It isn't always the best way of going about color comparison on live things from just images alone , but I went ahead and color picked these screenshots from areas I thought were least influenced by lighting and shadows (the foreheads) and this is what I got :

And here are the color wheels in that same order for comparison :

They basically look the same right even with error for lighting and shadow to get in the way , right ?

now here are those 3 colors put side by side :

both signatures look super close so I'm chalking up the gen 3 secrets doll to harsh lighting or something , because I don't think mattel would shell out extra $ on making clawdeen's base tone lighter for a line like skulltimate secrets (ex. she isn't being transformed in any way like she was in the great scarrier reef line , which WAS very much stupid as fuck) .

my main point here is color theory . I'm sure y'all have seen that tiktok trend where artists pick one color from their drawing and drag it over a pure white background and suddenly it looks like an entirely different color , right ? the main takeaway from those videos is that colors will always influence each other , which is exactly what happens with clawdeen . she looks darker in her gen 1 signature because she is *surrounded* by darker colors (her hair and lips) and she looks lighter in her gen 3 dolls because she is surrounded by a lighter colors (hair and lips again) . there isn't as much contrast with her gen 3 dolls as there was with gen 1 , which is what washes her out compared to what we all remember her looking like .

moral of the story is , clawdeen probably isn't lighter , she's just surrounded by lighter colors that are influencing the way we see her (I say probably because color picking from images like this isn't foolproof and I could always be wrong , but I'm inclined to believe it's just her surroundings) .

Mattel… come on.

If you’re gonna make her the main character, at least try to keep her skin tone consistent this time for fucks sake.

And darker.

She’s nearly Howleen’s skin tone now 💀.
