What can help us sleep at night?
The profound yearning to be somewhere with someone haunts me as night falls. It's a persistent tapping, an incessant knock on the walls of my heart for someone, a mere stranger. I seek a shoulder to lean on, a hand to hold, a reassuring smile. I search for it in dimly lit alleyways, well-lit shops, abandoned bookstores, and overly crowded streets. My eyes meet hundreds each day, yet they don't truly see me, caught in their own whirlwind of rush. They have errands to run, deadlines to meet, bosses to please, and shows to catch up on. Thus, none can spare a fleeting moment of intimacy; they glance through me and move on.
So, here I stand alone in this bustling city, slowly being obscured by the smoke of my internal musings. My dreams dissipate, and I am left wide awake.
