In the ever-evolving landscape of K-pop, few stories have captivated audiences quite like that of CICADA. Debuting in 2020, this eight-member boy group shot to fame through their unique Netflix series, simply titled "CICADA." Blending elements of horror and apocalypse, the show unfolded a gripping narrative set in a world plagued by mutated cicadas. With twenty episodes spanning two thrilling seasons, the series left viewers on the edge of their seats.

CICADA's rise to prominence was marked by their debut mini-album, which may not have clinched any music show awards, but it flew off the shelves with an impressive 75,000 units sold. Their journey took an exciting turn in July of the same year when they returned with their second mini-album, "Chapter Two." The group's sales surged to 90,000 units, a testament to their growing fan base and musical prowess.

However, recent events shook the foundations of both CICADA and Angelico Entertainment. Son Jinhwa, the CEO of Angelico for two decades, resigned amidst a highly publicized and contentious lawsuit that exposed disturbing allegations. The abrupt departure of Son Jinhwa marked a turning point as Son Roan stepped into the CEO role, initiating a reconfiguration of the entertainment company.

As the winds of change swept through Angelico, CICADA's future hung in the balance. The group's composition underwent a significant alteration, with four members—Ash, Issei, Sol, and Sammy—deciding to continue their journey under Angelico. Ash and Issei assumed new roles as producers, while Sol and Sammy began preparations for an intriguing future project.

However, not all members remained in the fold. Daeul and Hyojin found their contracts unceremoniously terminated. When questioned about these terminations, CEO Son Roan was unambiguous in his response, stating, "Good riddance. No further questions about them, please."

With this sudden twist in their journey, CICADA's legacy is a complex tapestry of success, controversy, and change. As they embark on new chapters in their careers, the world of K-pop watches with bated breath, wondering what the future holds for these talented artists who once captured our hearts amidst the chilling chorus of cicadas.

When I’m trying to create new characters, I often find questionnaires that have questions like “what is your character’s favorite movie?” Or “What is their favorite social media app and why?” However, these questions do not work for creating fantasy characters (like I am). Do you have any ideas for questions to help writers create fantasy characters?

This is a fantastic question, especially for fantasy writers. There aren't many resources dedicated to the creation and development of fantasy characters. I highly recommend exploring Dungeons & Dragons (DND) questions; they can offer valuable insights like this one.

On that note, if you'd be interested in a customized workbook solely focused on fantasy character creation, just give me a heads-up! Meanwhile, I've crafted a concise yet distinctive short questionnaire to get you started. (With unique questions, not the basics.)

Magical Essence 🌟✨:

Source of Power: 🌀💫 What magical abilities or powers does your character possess? How did they acquire or inherit these powers?

Magical Affinity: 🌊🔥 Describe their connection to elemental forces or magical domains. Are they aligned with specific elements or forces of nature?

Otherworldly Origin 🌌🔮:

Realm of Origin: 🏰🌌 Where does your character come from? Describe their homeland or origin realm—its landscapes, cultures, and inhabitants.

Mythical Lineage: 👑🌟 Does your character hail from a line of legendary beings, gods, or creatures of ancient lore? How does this lineage influence their identity?

I hope these questions help you start thinking about your story and your character. I mentioned things like dragons and magic to give you a place to begin, but you can totally explore other ideas beyond typical fantasy themes. Use these questions to spark new thoughts for your plot and character development, leading you to create a story that's unique and goes beyond the usual fantasy clichés.

Hiya!! I am taking a coding course at a University. While it's excellent for learning how to use a lot of complicated concepts in programming, we don't really get to do any projects or create anything yet. I was wondering how to get into that. Are there any resources you might recommend?

Goodie, you want to build your own projects! That's so good, I love project building! Now, it depends what you're coding (the languages + specific area) e.g. are you learning HTML/CSS/JavaScript (Website building) or is it like Python/Java/C# idk but you get what I'm asking for here, the projects you want to learn and build depends on what you're learning in the first place! But I will give some general advice!

I love YouTube so much, there are thousands of videos on that site for any programming language to building pretty much anything! What I did when I started off was the simple search of "[The coding language] beginner project" and then I get to see what I can build. Now if you get stuck on a snippet of code, Google it and there are sites that will explain it for you. Now, don't fall for tutorial hell where you're watching tutorial after tutorial videos but watching them will give you a good foundation!

Similar to what I said for the YouTube way, you can Google the same question and it will give you a bunch of project ideas, how to even do them and all you can do also is add more on top, what I mean is don't just watch or read about a project idea, see how you can twist it your own style e.g. recently I watched a React.js tutorial on how to make a to-do app! My twist was I styled it different by adding a frog theme. So the tutorial was my foundation and I just added on top of that to further exercise my skills!

Have a hub for all your projects! After creating your projects, you don't just want it sitting on your computer, you can put it online! I use GitHub - it's a place where you can store all your projects, have a save history so you can go back on old code, even share the static webpages you make (using HTML/CSS/JavaScript) with other people online! 📚 Online Courses

Many online platforms offer project-based courses. Websites like Udemy, Coursera, Codecademy and FreeCodeCamp can guide you through creating practical projects step by step. I use Udemy for learning and there are courses that are like "Build 9 web development projects blah blah blah" they're actually really good! BUT you do have to pay for them but if you can't find a good project on YouTube to follow or you can visualise or understand the articles online on how to build one, I suggest getting a course because someone teaches you how to make the project. Udemy is fairly cheap during their sales, going down from £59.99 to £10.99!

🤗 Collaboration

Reach out to classmates to build together, someone is bound to have an idea for something! Collaborative projects not only expand your skill set but also let you learn from others. Great skill to have! You can even collab on GitHub projects - which I am doing right now with people I've met through Tumblr (checkout our project)!

Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day! Start with small projects, gradually challenging yourself with larger ones. The journey of creating is just as exciting as the finished project itself. Happy coding! 😎🙌🏾💻💗

Among the first wave of suburban shopping centers to open around Las Vegas in the 60s was Wonder World Discount Department Store. Founded by a corporate developer in NYC, the first location opened in ‘62 at Decatur Blvd & Vegas Dr. VP of the parent company Herb Kaufman relocated to Las Vegas in ‘66 and turned Wonder World into a local chain, opening Wonder World at Maryland & Twain in 1968, and two others at W Sahara, and E Owens in North Las Vegas. Each department was leased with their own check-out; WOW owned the stores and property.

Wonder World Industries became Chanin Development Corp in ‘71 and developed Regency Tower, the first residential high-rise in Las Vegas. Kaufman later became the producer of Kenny Kerr’s Boy-Lesque. Pay Less bought Wonder World in ‘86, and phased out the name by ‘88.

I've been writing and drawing since I was little. And before I could write, I would tell my mother my story and she'd write it down for me. I've always had a crazy imagination. When I was a tween, I got into anime and manga, so I learned how to draw in that art style.

I am 25, queer-romantic asexual, and feminine-presenting nonbinary. I identify as both a girl and a demi-boy. You can refer to me as she/her, he/him, or they/them. I don't mind. I'm also white and have ADHD, dyspraxia, anxiety, and depression that prevents me from getting a "real" job.

I'm pretty shy and anxious, but once you get to know me, I may say some weird stuff and dad jokes. I'm a big nerd and simp as well.

✨Spotlight on Browserland✨

Today we're here to tell you all about the currently released characters of Browserland: HTML, CSS, and ARIA.

If you’re coming in with no context, our Kickstarter page has all the answers. Help us reach our next stretch goal—$600 to go!—and beyond by backing our project and spreading the word!

So, what is Browserland? While we have some ideas about how it might look (regular world, but more high-tech? with tubes?) and about its politics (what if the Browser Wars were about geographical territory?), for the most part we don't need to know how it works...yet.

Still, we knew we wanted some bonus characters to beef up the lineup of our first volume. And since this is a project about web development, who better than the awesome trio of technologies that power every website we visit? We're talking of course about HTML, CSS, and ARIA, portrayed here by ereriren.

We wanted them to work as a trio, so, our trusty @tvtropesorg always at our side, we got to researching. After consulting MANY entries, we landed on the Comic Trio trope, one of the most popular examples of which is the (in)famous Team Rocket from Pokemon.

🌐 Browserland Character 1: HTML 🌐

Early on, we decided to portray websites as places where HTML & gang would work. As the backbone of every site, we made HTML the team lead and immediately assigned him the "overworked millennial" trope.

We also wanted HTML to be a constant, unprotesting victim of CSS' penchant for fashion. Putting all this together, it soon became clear he'd be the “Straight Man (trope)” of the group.

@ymkse was tasked with his design, and oh boy did they deliver.

Only one issue: they made him extremely hot, but also extremely tricky to get right. Whenever someone else had to draw HTML, he required a significant number of revisions as we struggled together to get him to look the way we wanted. (We're learning, slowly... The eyes are key.)

The sacrificial hero of our first "HTML is really hard to draw" discovery was @catter-bug, who took on the arduous task of trying to make sense of his infuriating face. Thanks to their hard work and incredible patience, our HTML character card eventually came out 🌈AMAZING🌈.

You might have noticed that HTML is the only character whose roster pic (by @ymkse) differs from his card. This last minute change happened when @essential-randomness jokingly swapped him for his catmaid version, and realized the comedic (and storytelling) potential of him staring at his phone while everyone else looked to the audience!

All in all, HTML is the only character who has four different official designs. Rumors say this might be because our project lead is extremely biased towards him, but she obviously denies such baseless accusations.

🌐 Browserland Character 2: CSS 🌐

As the language in charge of styling, we knew right away CSS would be a tailor and HTML his chosen guinea pig/model. Most importantly, if HTML and ARIA were working at every website, we wanted CSS to be the one making their uniforms!

Once again, @ymkse was in charge of the design. We wanted him to be tiny, energetic, and disheveled. We also wanted to have a character with Native American inspiration and, after some research, the team turned to the Mi'kmaq tribe for guidance.

We were lucky to have @admiralexclipse consult with us as a sensitivity reader for CSS's design, and even more #blessed to have them join us as the official illustrator for his character card.

Something else you might notice from CSS' character card: he's deaf! We were thrilled to work with @angelfeast as a sensitivity reader to make sure we understood how to handle this in our material.

🌐 Browserland Character 3: ARIA 🌐

This brings us to the third member of our trio: ARIA. As a technology intrinsically tied to HTML, we knew we wanted them to work closely together. And as the "screen reader" technology, we knew we wanted him to be the group's "conversationalist"

Aside from this, he remained a mystery. That is, until we realized ARIA stands for Accessible *Rich* Internet Applications, and it all fell in place. The heir of a wealthy family, ARIA was sent to mingle with "the plebs," where he fell madly in love with the dashing HTML-senpai.

Our last-minute hero @sgt-spank swooped in to make ARIA a reality and complete our set of characters. He also happily obliged—and encouraged—our requests of adding increasing quantities of tattoos and leather straps. Too many, you think? No such thing.

While we won’t get to fully explore the trio until later (where there’s an Issue 0, there may one day be an Issue 1), we're stoked about them and their dynamics. And given that Git(Hub) needs actual files to operate upon, they'll feature heavily in our first guide's examples.
