Just 14 Days ❤
Tumblr media
Who: Mark Lee x Reader
Genre: Fluff, Established Relationship AU
Warnings: One curse word
WC: 1.7K
A/N: Hey guys so it’s my first time writing fan fiction and I am really nervous. I really loved doing it, so I hope you guys enjoy it! Please share with others 🥰
Since February 25 you have spent fourteen days in a hotel in Seoul due to quarantine protocols. On your flight to Korea all you could think about was the chance to finally see Mark in person once again. The last time you were able to really hang out with him was at the rodeo where they performed Kick It. Since then, your relationship consisted of daily photos being sent via text and weekly FaceTime calls where you guys would consistently remind each other how much you would wish to see each other once again. Dating Mark Lee, member of NCT had been already hard on its own since the time difference and the amount of long hours he put into his career. You never complained of the fact that he loved what he was doing and the amazing amount of effort he put to keep in touch. But now with the pandemic around you guys felt a bigger heart ache as you weren’t able to see each other as much as you had wanted.
So today, March 11,2021 it was finally time to see your boyfriend. On any other day you would sleep in and wake up at 9am but today was not the case. Your alarm was set for 6am and for the first time you had woken up by the first ring. Adrenaline rushing through your body you quickly began to pack your clothes that you had worn for the past two weeks. All that was running through your mind was the fact that today was the day that you were able to see Mark’s smile in person. As you were packing you let out a small chuckle at the thought that he didn’t know you were coming to Korea. That’s right, all of this was behind his back and everyone else from 127 knew. Johnny really helped you with all the planning, of course with the approval of the managers, but without him none of this would have been possible.
After an hour of packing your clothes, the sun began to rise and you decided to order breakfast in your hotel room. While eating your meal, the sudden realization of seeing Mark after a full year hit you. Immediately, you felt your palms get sweaty and your heart beats faster. You were well aware that Mark loved you and that you loved him. Knowing him since childhood had always helped you guys in your relationship as you had years of trust. But in this moment all you could think about was the doubt in your head. What if when he sees you, he would change his mind about you? Has it been so long that he doesn’t feel the same? Ignoring these negative thoughts you finished your meal and finally had received the phone call you had been waiting for.
“Y/N are you ready to go. I am outside in a black van.” Said the manager of NCT
As a smile began to form on your face you responded “Yup! I have all my stuff packed up and ready to go. I will head down and see you in a minute.”
As soon as you hang up you grab your sweater and your luggage and open your hotel door. Feeling a sense of freedom after being in a small room for so long, you step up your pace as you feel a sense of excitement. Now at the lobby, you see the black van through the glass window. As soon as you enter the van you finally greet the driver, but notice someone in a black hoodie and mask next to him.
“BOO!” The man turns around and you jump as you didn’t not expect any loud noise in the morning. As soon as you make eye contact with the guy your eyes widen.
“JOHNNY!” you shout in the car while smiling wide.
“ Hey, what’s up. Bet you didn’t expect this one right. I wanted to come pick you up so you wouldn’t be alone and I know this is only your second time here and it’s been a while. Also, I know for a fact once Mark sees you he won’t give us the chance to talk” He says while laughing a little bit.
“ Honestly, that was a really big surprise that I didn’t expect. It makes me so happy to see you after so long. Also, don’t worry, I’ll make sure to catch up with all of you guys once I get to catch up with Mark.”
The thirty minute ride consisted of you and Johnny talking about their Japanese album, NCT 2020, life in the states, and of course your excitement to see Mark. Talking to Johnny gave you a sense of relief as most of the nerves went away and it seemed that nothing had really changed much. Before you even knew it you were in front of the 127 dorms.
“ Well, we’re here.” Johnny says while hopping out the car, heading to the trunk to help you with your luggage. “ So the boys all know you’re here except for Mark, but he should definitely be awake by now because it’s nine.”
Going into the elevator with Johnny you see the numbers rise to the tenth floor. As soon as the door opens you feel butterflies in your stomach and a sense of anxiousness. You wanted to see Mark so bad, but at the same time you were scared about his reaction. Johnny unlocked the door to the apartment and all you could see was the layout of the living room. The table and the TV, the same place where it once stood. While processing the layout you hear footsteps coming from the hall. Jaehyun and Yuta make eye contact with you and their mouths drop slightly.
“No way I can’t believe you made it! This is so exciting it's been so freaking long. Also, if I’m being honest, I completely forgot today was the day” Jaehyun begins to chuckle.
Yuta approaches you with a big hug, followed by a hug from Jaehyun. As soon as the guys begin talking the noise in the apartment begins to rise. Before you know it a certain someone begins to walk towards the living room.
“Yo guys, what’s with the loud commotion? It's kinda early for that, don’t you think-” Mark pauses his sentence as he finally sees you. You turned to look as you had heard his voice but was too focused on your talk with Yuta and Jaehyun. Turning your neck towards him, your eyes water as you felt so many emotions all at once. You see Mark's eyes begin to water as well, so you decide to take a step closer to your love. He then turns his back to you and you take a pause in your steps.
“Stop, I don’t want the first thing for you to see is me crying after a whole year.”
As soon as you hear his voice soften your tears begin to form more clearly and you finally decide to speak up. “Babe, come on, you know that I don’t care about that. I just wanna be with you and make sure you are happy.” You say while finally moving up close enough to him to wrap your arms around his waist and put your head comfortably on his back. All of a sudden you feel trembling of his body and his voice crack a little. Mark doesn’t cry often, but you wanted to cherish this moment because you felt all his love. He turns around and looks at you. “I missed you so fucking much” he whispers into your ear before snuggling his head into your neck. You hug him even tighter and whisper back sweet things. It has been so long that both of you felt an overwhelmed feeling. Mark lifts his weight from your body and moves closer to your lips. As soon as your lips touch, you feel a sense of relief as you had waited for this day to finally see your best friend and boyfriend. The kiss lasts much longer than expected until Johnny clears his throat. “ So are you just gonna kiss until the day is over or let us all catch up with her Mark.” Johnny says sarcastically as the other members begin to laugh.
Your lips detach from each other, but it is obvious that you are both blushing. You turn around to face the boys and give them a small smile while Mark wraps his arm around you. Feeling his warm is so comforting and then you hear your love begin to speak. “Wait, so did you all know that Y/N was coming?!” His voice finally is back to his usual tone and the boys all nodded simultaneously. “I can’t believe you didn’t tell me, dude, what that heck!” You begin to laugh and so do the others and once Mark heard your laugh his heart began to race. He loved everything about you and to finally be connected in person once again would something he could never take for granted again.
“I am so glad I am finally with you again. Of course I loved our FaceTime calls, but seeing your beautiful face in person is way better” You whisper into Mark’s ear as his ears begin to turn bright red.
The 127 guys all headed back to their dorm rooms and you followed Mark with your luggage into his room. Things had changed since the last time you stayed but it wasn’t a shock since he had given you a room tour in FaceTime in past months.
“Baby, thank you for taking the time to be here with me like I really mean it. You are my person and honestly I couldn’t thank you enough. There were some days where I really felt like I didn’t have enough strength to get things done, but the thought of you being proud made me get through it.”
“Aww babe stop because literally I am going to cry. I feel like the luckiest person to spend time with you and be a part of your life. Never forget that I will do anything to make you happy even if it means being stuck in a hotel for 2 weeks.
Mark’s eyes widen “ Crap I forgot that you had to do that too! Baby I am so sorry.”
“Don’t be, anything for you.” You say as you place your hand on his cheek and bring his face closer to give him a small peck on the lips.

Mafia!NCT 127 Reaction to You Coloring Their Tattoos
Hyuck + Mark in the Dream Reaction

Taeyong
He had no hesitation letting you color his tattoos. "Have fun, babe." He pinched your cheek and relaxed under the big tree you were both sitting under. Today was a cool and relaxing day as Taeyong had thrown all his plans away to be with you all day.
The dragon on his bicep was now stained in hues of purple and green with accents of neon yellow creeping up his shoulder. "So, besides today, how have you been lately?" His gaze swayed from you to the inside of his eyelids as he was drifting to sleep slowly. "Okay, I suppose. Work is annoying." You laughed and his heart twinged with love. "My students are definitely taking advantage of the wedding to slack off with their work." You chuckled and Taeyong took notice of the cool metal ring that laid on your left hand. It had never looked more magical than right now. The wedding was a fairytale story to think about in another time and place. It was the talk of the town. There wasn’t a reason the students shouldn’t be talking about it.
"They're kids. They're going to goof off for a while." He laughed and looked down at his arm. The color stuck inside the lines and stained your hands wildly. Your yawn brought his attentive eyes to your sleepy frame. "Tired, already?" He laughed as you could only shrug with a sheepish grin stuck on your face.
"Come here. Let's just rest for a little bit then." He pushed the markers into the grass and his arm wrapped itself around your waist as he pulled you down and into his side. You couldn't fight it as your ear was filled with the sound of his mellowing heartbeat. His fingers danced in your hair and danced along the curves of your cheekbones till he knew you were fast asleep.
He stayed awake just looking at your angelic features as the sight of his multi-colored arm shifted his focus. It was so meaningless to you but he loved it as he knew that it came from your heart and mind.
It was you-- perfect.

Taeil
"If I have to sit through one more of these stupid underboss meetings then I swear I'm going to go ballistic-" Taeil cut you off with a laugh. "I don't want caviar and fancy fish with wine! I want chicken nuggets shaped like dinosaurs with a coke!" You whined as he walked in the bedroom, one hand shoving the dress shirt underneath the hem of his dress pants.
"I know, cutie. Just a couple more meetings this week then I promise I'll take a week off and we can go and take a vacation." He pulled your hands and guided you to the bathroom where an elegant dress hung on the hooks of the door. Matching with Taeil was something you looked forward to with events like these. Yet, the event itself was throwing you off.
You got dressed and stared at yourself in the mirror. The thin red spaghetti straps danced on your shoulders as it contrasted with your dark black tattoos. The heels were uncomfortable as they carried you through the door and to the base meeting house.
You sat between Taeil and Johnny who decided to come alone and without his wife. 'lucky bitch' you thought. Taeil's hand protectively gripped the inside of your thigh. The stares of the foreign feeling underbosses littered across the room. Their aura made a shiver go down your spine as Taeil read out the news from Neo Culture's territory.
Your hand rested on top of his as your thoughts drowned out your husband's usually sweet voice. You traced the tattoos on his hand lightly with your finger. You grabbed an extra pen from Johnny's seat place and started to add onto Taeil's tattoos. The red and blue inks clashed with each other even though they laid right by one another.
Taeil gripped your wrist harshly to get you to stop but the spiteful feeling sparked in your head. You grabbed his hand with your other hand and forced it on your lap. You continued drawing and coloring the shapes and words with a vengeful attitude coursing through your veins.
A break was reached and all the underbosses were dismissed from the meeting room to the dining room where food was going to be served. Yet, once the room was cleared he grabbed your wrists once more. "What the hell are you doing?"
You automatically started to pout as you deemed that this wasn't fun anymore. "I was just trying to get your attention." You mumbled as you got up and walked out of the big wooden doors. Taeil sighed and took a deep breath. He looked down to see hearts of blue and red around your initials he had tattooed on his thumb. Tiny cartoon characters danced across his hand and he realized he was overreacting.
He got up to go after you and caught you walking slowly to the dining room. He came up behind you and slipped a hand on your lower hip. "I'm sorry, baby." Taeil sighed and kissed your cheek warmly.
You shook your head and leaned into him. "No, I shouldn't have kept going when you said to stop. I'm sorry." You confided as you both turned into the room where everyone was already seated. "Here, how about this," he whispered. "Eat a little bit of food then me and you can go out for burgers after everyone leaves." He said and the look on your face gave him the energy to get through the next hour and a half.
"Really?" You asked and he nodded. You grabbed his face and gently kissed his cheek. "Now you have my seal of approval." You laughed as you rubbed the faint mark of lipstick off of his face.
You sat down ready to shove down the nasty fish eggs and wine that was about to be served.

Johnny
Nobody understood how Johnny got you to be his wife. Everyone thought that the differences would've drowned out the connection. Yet, anybody who doubted was silenced when they spent an hour with you both. The strongness of Johnny seemed minimalized whenever you walked into the room. It was quite magical.
You and Johnny sat on the 127 squad jet, bound towards New York where you both would be staying for 3 months for protection. The family was threatened with the wives and partners coming under the harshest threats.
Johnny took you and didn't look back. You were working an 18-hour shift at the hospital and he came with no warning. Just grabbed you and left.
Jaehyun and his wife were on the way to Connecticut while Mark and his girlfriend were on their way to New York too. Johnny, Mark, and Jaehyun were to meet in New York in their respective spaces to set out a plan of action. After that, Mark would spend a month in New York, then go up to Toronto, spending his last months in Vancouver. Johnny is splitting the trip up into half in New York, the rest in Chicago. Jaehyun was taking his chances by staying in Connecticut. Yet, he said he wouldn't hesitate running West if needed.set out a plan of action. The sudden news threw you off guard.
You sat with Johnny in the back of the plane in dead silence. "I'm scared." You admitted. "Why?" He asked as he turned his phone off and threw it on the table in front of both of you.
You curled up on the couch next to him, latching onto his arm protectively.  "Nothing is going to happen, sweetie." He came up to twirl your hair calmly as your heart started to race more. It was too quiet.
"Here, let's find something to do." He sighed and stood up, rummaging through the closets and storage of the plane. In a moment he returned with a pack of markers. "No paper." He frowned and sat back down with a tired sigh.
You reached forward to bring the thin cardboard box into your hands. You felt his hand rest on the small of your back as you pulled the markers out and twirled them in-between your fingers.
You looked to him to see his head leaned back and eyes shut. You grabbed his suit jacket and tugged. His head snapped up and it took him a minute to understand what you were getting at. "Oh." He sighed and shook the material off of his torso.
A simple t-shirt had been hidden underneath his blazer as you laid your eyes on his tattoos. He didn't have any hesitation as he rolled up his already short sleeves and got comfortable.
He was preoccupied with his phone as you hummed to yourself. You traced the sunflower in green and made tie-dye art on his forearms. Johnny was content with the silence and the fact he knew that you were okay and occupied.
"Wanna listen to some music, babe?" He asked as he opened his music app. "Duh." He clicked the playlist you had made for him and laughed as he watched you sing terribly into the marker. He studied your figure and facial expressions as you got caught up in coloring again. "This dragon is now going to have whiskers." You nodded but stopped quickly. "Or a mustache?" You looked at Johnny and he shrugged. "He'd look cute with some whiskers." You took the idea and plopped whiskers on the face of the dragon.
An associate who tagged along for the trip came into the back room with refreshments for the two of you. You both gladly accepted and were left alone again. "Gummy bears?" These are perfect. He threw the package at you but it went untouched as you kept drawing.
He could only laugh to himself as he opened the package for you and pulled a singular bear out. Johnny held it to your lips and was happy to you take it without much thought. You finally were happy with your artistic decisions and showed Johnny the finished piece.
"It's so nice, y/n!" He smiled and it felt like your brain was mush. You sat next to him with a content smile and a small yawn.
"Tired already?" at which you could only shrug as a response. "Then let's just watch some videos and relax." He kicked his feet up and pulled you so you were on his lap.
Johnny's phone played random videos as you latched onto him and went to sleep. He took some photos to set as his wallpaper and ultimately decided to join you in a nice nap.

Yuta
"Yuta!" You called as you stepped into the large house. "I believe he's in the gazebo or his office, Miss." One of the worked associates greeted you at the front door. He grabbed the bags from your arms as you bowed politely. "Thank you so much." You were off towards the back of the house to find your husband.
"Yuta-!" You called as you rounded the corner of the house and into the back yard. The gazebo that laid just beyond the wood bridge that sat above the koi fish river-- was empty. You stopped and stared for a moment. You were sure that this is where he'd be.
"Up here, my love." A voice made you jump as you looked up to see Yuta at his office balcony. "Oh. Hi!" You waved as his eyes squinted in a smile. "How was your day out?" He asked as he brought his teacup up to his lips. "It was wonderful! I have something to show you!" You called and held up a small shopping bag in your hand. "I'll be right up!" You raced back into the house and up the stairs to where he already stood waiting for you in the doorway to his office.
"What's so amazing that you found today?" His eyebrow raised and you opened the bag quickly. "But first-" He interrupted you as he grabbed your face gently and gave you a passionate kiss. "What's this for?" You asked as he continued to stare at your face lovingly. "Just happy to see you is all." He smiled as his hands found their way into his pockets.
"Now, show me." He motioned to one of your hands that was stuck in the bag you held. You were brought back to reality and pulled the plastic package out of the bag.
"...Markers?" He asked and his tone of voice made you laugh. "Not just any markers. They're tattoo markers. They're safe for the skin." You corrected him and he rolled his eyes. "You're still on this?" Yuta asked with an amused expression. "Of course I am! This was the deal." You said shoving them into his hands so he could inspect the box.
He read the back and he had to admit...you were right.
"You said I could color your tattoos IF I found tattoo markers. Safe for the skin and everything!" He knew you did it...and that he had to hold up his part of the deal. "Okay fine." He sighed as he handed the package back. "Yay! Thank you!" You jumped and laid a gentle kiss on his cheek.
"We can do it later before dinner." He agreed and watched you skip happily down the hall.
---- "Finally! You take forever." You sighed as you moved your sunglasses up your nose. The grass tickled your bare legs as Yuta sat next to you. "I couldn't help it. Taeyong didn't want to hang up the phone." You stood on your knees and moved behind Yuta. Your hands gently rubbed his shoulders as his head fell in an exasperated manner.
"I hate to burst your bubble, Yuta. But, I called you out here for the deal. Not a massage." He whined as he flopped down on the grass, his t-shirt lifting on his back. His head rested on his folded arms as you silently cheered.
"If this stains, I will make sure to throw out all color in your life. Your life will be a dull kaleidoscope-" "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, you big baby." You laughed and opened your pouch full of the tattoo markers.
You lifted the back of his shirt more till the full picture was revealed. A full mural was printed on his back with black ink that curved and straightened out into different objects. A dragon with demons following was the full picture...a dark reality...that you were going to make colorful.
You sat on his lower back and got to work filling in the different parts of the dragon. Every once in awhile he would spasm and try to make you mess-up. Yet, with a tug on his hair, he would become limp and obedient again.
"I'm almost done." Was the phrase that almost made him weep with joy. "Finally." He let it slip and he felt a tug on his hair again. "Ow." He rubbed his head. He could feel you draw and move the felt-tipped weapons on his back.
"Finished." You cheered and grabbed his phone to take a picture. You showed it to him and ombre scaled decorated the dragon with the demon's faces were colored red and blue. It looked nice. He saw a couple of smiley faces hidden in there and felt like everything looked complete.
"Okay, my turn now!" He yelled and grabbed your arm. He pulled you to the ground and grabbed the black marker that was in your hand. "Yuta, no." You tried fighting him. "This wasn't apart of the deal." You thrashed but he pinned you under his body weight. "Excuse me? Sorry, I don't speak Japanese." His Korean rambled off quickly from his tongue. You decided to just deal with it as he took his time drawing a mustache on your face along with random doodles he could think of.
He finally stopped his antics and took a picture with his phone to look at afterward. "You look so cute, look!" He pulled up the picture and shoved it in your face. "I look gross man!" You ridiculed but he wrapped you up in his arms quickly,
"My gross man."

Doyoung
"I thought they were going to be here already." You whined as your head hit the wall behind you. "Oh, can you stop whining for once?" He groaned as he took off his bulletproof vest. The air seemed to be getting thinner as the seconds ticked past. He stretched his legs out so they touched the opposite wall of the tiny bank vault. The velvet flooring seemed sticky as it felt like your chest was getting heavier.
You stood up and went to the closed door. Kicking and banging seemed like the only viable option. You pounded and kicked as hard and as much as you could with no luck. Tears stained your eyes as you turned around to look for another option out of here. "It's getting smaller." You whispered and Doyoung took the opportunity. "You're right, y/n. I can feel the walls pushing in!" He yelled and started to thrash and roll around on the ground. You could swear that the walls were shrinking and coming closer together. You dropped to the floor with your hands over your head, ready to be crushed by the vault walls.
Doyoung was pissed and vengeful in the beginning but now he just felt bad. You sat there silently crying as you rocked yourself back and forth. Doyoung sat opposite of you and just stared, waiting for you to snap out of it, yet, there was no hope as he watched you bring your legs closer to your chest.
He pushed your shoulder and you backed away from him quickly. "Calm down. You're wasting our air." He deadpanned. You could only nod and wipe the tears away from your eyes.
"Wanna play tic-tac-toe?" He asked and you looked around, surprised he was asking in a moment like this. "Um-" He didn't wait for an answer and grabbed your legs-- pulling you closer to where he sat.
Doyoung reached into your vest you were wearing and pulled an assortment of permanent markers out. You wiped the rest of your tears and grabbed the orange marker out of his hand. He lifted the sleeve of his long shirt and created the grid in black ink. "Wanna go first?" He asked and you took the opportunity to land an 'X' in the grid.
He followed soon after you and in no time-- he won.
Another game and another and another till no space was left. An hour had passed and you were still stuck in the bank vault.
"Fine. You win this tournament. But, I know I'll win next time." Doyoung said laying back and closing his eyes. The sweat from his bangs dripped down the side of his face.
The bottom of his shirt lifted and you could see the familiar black ink on his side. "Stop staring at me like that, pervert. I have rights." He pulled his shirt down and you let a laugh rip through your chest.
"Chill. I was just looking at your tattoo." You said and he shrugged. "What about 'em?" He asked as his eyes closed once more. "Nothing. Just looking," you sighed, "I wanted to be a tattoo artist before all of this." You motioned around the velvet interior. One eye peeked open and he looked suspiciously at your figure. "Are you any good?"
You stood on your knees and lifted your shirt so he could see the piece you were in the middle of finishing. Dragon and koi fish laid on your ribs in red ink.
"Woah." He lifted himself closer and gently touched the healing ink. "You did this yourself?" You nodded as he inspected it for a good minute.
"Give me one!" He said and shoved the red sharpie in your hand. He didn't give you time before laying on his side in a straight line. He lifted the side of his shirt and waited patiently.
You shrugged, finding nothing else better to do. He already had black ink staining his skin so you decided to add on. It was another simple dragon but it fit his character and personality perfectly.
Time seemed to slow as he tried to take a sneak peek of the masterpiece you were currently working on. He planned to take a picture later and get it done, yet, it would have to be in secret.
All of a sudden, the door popped open and cool air filled the small compartment. "Welcome back to Earth." Chenle greeted. You capped the marker and grabbed your vest as quickly as Doyoung.
You both high-tailed it out of the bank and into the street where the van was waiting with open doors. Doyoung and you jumped and rolled onto the back-ground of the van and the door was slammed shut by Jaehyun.
"Sorry about that. Jungwoo spilled Sprite on the control panel." Jaehyun explained and a guilty-looking Jungwoo sat in the passenger seat, not making eye contact.
"Woah. You got a new tattoo?" Jaehyun lifted Doyoung's shirt up more to see the red dragon you had drawn.
"Eventually."

~~~~~
Jaehyun
He was a very demanding man with particular tastes. You sat by yourself in your underground shop when a swarm of men came in all at once. They lead the way for a man in a sharp business suit.
I'm about to get shut down...aren't I?
He looked at you for a moment before looking around and coming towards you. "Are you the shop owner?" His voice was smooth with undertones of threatening. "Depends on who's asking," I answered honestly, "If it's for ink work or compliments: me. If you have any problems then I'll turn you over to my manager, Lucifer." You wiped down the glass counter in front of you. His chuckle rang sliced through the thick tension.
"Lucifer." You sang and made kissy noises. A long black haired cat hopped onto the glass counter next to you, hissing at the men and laying on its back. His back stretched as his paws grew long and pointy nails only for a moment. "Oh be nice, Luci." You called and picked the cat up in your arms.
"So how can we help you today?" You smiled and the man looked at you and sighed. "This will do." He called over his shoulder and you heard a bang of your shop door. Men walked around you to your workroom and began going through your papers. "Do you have any affiliations with any gangs in the local or surrounding areas?" The man asked as you dropped the cat onto the glass.
"No." You blurted and it was met with a smile. "Well, you have caught the interest of Neo Culture-" "Oh hell no." You shook your head and came around the counter. You pointed towards the staircase that was capped with the 'exit' door. "Leave." You demanded, yet, he stood still.
"I don't think you understand how this works." His smile made you shiver. "You were picked. You can't just...refuse." He motioned to the room. "You are on Neo Culture property and territory. You will work for us in exchange for a pretty...hefty amount of cash-" "And a bullet in my head if another gang comes by?" You questioned with your arms crossed over your chest. "Well, you don't need to worry about that till they show up...do you?" His reasoning made you angry.
"I just want a simple fill-in today. And if you do well, then you'll be taken care of." He went into his coat pocket and pulled out a stack of paper. "Rent, bills, groceries, and spending money. Not to mention guaranteed protection from the most feared crime family in the Asiatic continent." He smiled as he handed over the piece of paper.
You looked at it and it was of a dragon that needed to be shaded and filled in. You knew that you needed to do this...or say bye-bye to your shop and dreams.
You sighed and looked at Lucifer who sat grooming himself.
"It's all clear, sir." One of the men popped his head out of the back curtain. The man smiled at you and stuck out his hand. "Do we have a deal?" He asked and you regretted the decision as you felt your hand reach itself out in front of you. "Deal." You sighed and you lead him back to the workroom.
He made himself comfortable as he draped his jacket across the waiting chair and unbuttoned the bottom of his shirt. He lifted his business shirt until a blank tattoo was shown on the front section of his ribs.
You got yourself ready off of what the paper described. Black and red shading with a black streak thrown across the dragon's eyes. 1-2-7 was bent across the dragon's stomach as 5 stars surrounded the head of the dragon mimicking a crown.
"Lucifer. Out." You called and the cat meow'd before walking out of the curtain. "Want to listen to music while I work?" You asked and he shook his head 'no' as he preoccupied himself on his phone.
You worked quickly and efficiently as he didn't dare look at your work.
2 hours went by and you were done. "Finished." You said standing up and disposing of the used needles. He stood up and looked into the body-length mirror on the other side of the room. "Woah." Was all you heard.
"This is good work." He said and you awkwardly smiled while coming closer to him with saniderm and healing gel. "Take off the saniderm underwater, so I suggest a shower and apply the gel gently. Change the saniderm at the same time tomorrow then after that you can wait up to 6 days after to change." You explained as you rubbed the gel on the tattoo and stuck a big square of saniderm on his torso.
"Why, thank you,-" "y/n." You cut him off and you could see him smile as you turned away.
"Nice name." He smiled, "Thanks...I guess." You shrugged. "Well, some other members will be in for some days to come. Money has already been left under your counter." He redressed as you cleaned up your station.
"I hope to see you soon, y/n." He smiled and walked off in an eerie aura. You heard your shop door open and close.
You rested your hands on your counter and let a huge sigh escape your chest. Meow.
You looked over to see Lucifer peeking his head in.
"I know. He was really weird."
~~~~~
Jungwoo
"Stop running away from me you tree!" You leaped from the couch and onto your boyfriend's back. "No! You'll never catch me!" He tried to shake you off of him, yet, you latched onto him as tight as you could.
"Damn your koala grip." He tried to swing his body around and throw you to the ground. Your hands went to cover his eyes as you began to panic. "Quit moving so fast!" You pleaded and he stopped abruptly. You scrambled off of his back and just sat with your legs outstretched on the floor.
You looked up at him with a look that could kill. "Just let me have fun." You pushed yourself off the floor and pointed a finger in his face. "You can. Just not on me." He moved your hand away from his face.
You groaned and sat on the couch in a huff. "You're no fun, Woo." You muttered and he couldn't help but smile at your pouty nature.
"Sure. Whatever you say, cutie." He said excusing himself down the hall. You heard the door to the bedroom close and you were left alone. You were going to color those damn tattoos even if it killed you. You turned on the TV and watched some shows. 40 minutes had passed and you knew that Jungwoo had to be asleep.
You snuck to the closet by the kitchen and threw the door open to find the bucket of markers. You grabbed your favorite out of the selection and were off down the hall.
The door was silent as you swung it open quickly. Jungwoo laid passed out on top of the sheets. His arms were folded underneath his head as you watched his chest rise and fall slowly...in a serene manner...but it was too calm. Chaos and fun were needed.
Tip-toeing was your best option as you swiftly made yourself over. You watched his eyes roam the inside of his eyelids as you realized he was completely knocked out.
You crawled on your space of the bed and uncapped the marker with a slight struggle. The pop made Jungwoo's eyelids squeeze and release quickly.
Your heart was filled with a mischievous attitude as you softly traced along the stars that were placed on his inner bicep. Pinks and oranges were plopped onto his skin as he laid unconscious.
A couple of cartoon characters and messages later you were bored. "Guess you are right. I really do have the mind of a goldfish." You mused quietly as you closed the marker and shoved them off the bed.
You laid across Jungwoo's torso and rolled onto him so he could wake-up. "It's like watching a toddler, I swear." He groaned as he grabbed you and didn't let go.
"I could've sworn that coloring would've kept you busy for at least an hour." He sighed and you just looked at him as if he had grown 5 heads. "I'm not stupid, y/n. Don't look at me like that." Jungwoo laughed and pinched your cheek.
He held onto your waist with one arm as he examined what you had drawn on the other. "Awe they're so cute." He mused and you looked at your work once more.
"Can I get a tattoo?" You asked and he only looked at you. "Do what you feel is right, but please...please think it through." He sighed and held onto you with both hands.
"Deal."

The bustling of the joyous occasion surrounds you. String lights glow under the summer night sky. They encompass the white linen tables topped with delicate flowers and ornaments, alongside all the dressed up people dancing, sitting, laughing, and overall having a great time.
You’re one of the people sitting at a table, indulging yourself with a glass of champagne in one hand. However, you aren’t alone. Johnny, your best friend, is the photographer for the wedding and was allowed to bring a guest. Not much persuasion was needed when free food and drinks were involved.
Taking a sip of your drink, you watch your towering friend finish taking a picture of people on the dance floor before he heads straight towards you. His camera sways lightly with his cool walk and when he finally reaches you, he feigns an exhausted sigh and sinks into the chair next to you.
“Man, photography just takes so much out of me,” he shakes his head while loosening his tie.
“Does it really, though?” you cock an eyebrow, then flash him your signature smile. He reflects your expression, grabs your glass, and takes a sip. Actually, more than a sip, since he finishes all the bubbly without hesitation.
“I thought you don’t drink on the job.”
Setting the thin vessel down, he shakes his head defensively, “I never said that. I said I don’t get drunk on the job. There’s a difference.”
You snatch your empty glass back and begin to refill it as Johnny carefully removes the camera strap from his body prior to gently placing the camera on the table. He leaves a hand on it, giving him a sense of security over his prized possession (and because it’s the reason why he’s getting paid tonight).
Johnny looks back and forth between the floor and the table when he says, “Sorry I couldn’t really be with you tonight.”
In the midst of a sip, you immediately refute his apology. “No, don’t apologize, Johnny. You’re working, and you know I can’t complain.” You gesture towards all the food and drinks.
“But...” you play with the stem of the glass. “Can I at least see some of the pictures?”
“No, you cannot,” he quickly answers, shutting you down like he usually does. You pout.
“You know I couldn’t give two shits if you take pictures of naked girls in your spare time, right?” Sarcasm oozes from your accusation, but anyone walking by and hearing it wouldn’t know otherwise.
“Oh, my God,” he runs a hand through his hair, shaking his head from your lack of shame. You notice his cheeks start to colour, but you’re unsure if that’s from the drink or embarrassment.
“Firstly, all the pictures of the naked girls I take are on my other camera,” he begins to count on his fingers, responding against your banter. “And secondly, I’m working on a secret photography project. Once I’m done, then you can see it.”
“You promise?” you hold your pinky out.
He chuckles. “I promise.”
His pinky finger curls around yours, then both of you angle your hand a bit upward to have your thumbs touch. After the promise is sealed, the two of you have some fun on the dance floor until midnight rolls around and guests trickle more and more away. Johnny deals with the last bit of his job before he begins to drive you home.
You relax into the passenger seat, looking at all the things that pass by in the middle of the night. Johnny’s music softly plays in the background and almost lulls you to sleep until he mentions he has to stop for gas.
“I’m gonna pick up some snacks. Do you want any?”
A few come to mind, so you list them for him to pick up on your behalf. He smiles, jokingly tells you not to go anywhere, and heads into the gas station’s convenience store as he’s done filling his tank. While you watch him make his way towards the store, a lightbulb goes off in your head. Without thinking, your hand reaches in the back seat of his car and grasps onto his camera; you couldn’t help but jump at the chance to rummage through his camera gallery.
The camera’s screen glares at you in the darkness of the car. It’s a bit painful, but you persist and smile back at all the people enjoying themselves in the wedding photos.
Whenever you see Johnny’s shots, they never fail to amaze you. He has the ability to capture a moment in its purest essence. If a picture is worth a thousand words, Johnny’s pictures were worth double.
Suddenly, you notice a photo of yourself sitting at the table, glancing off to one side. You think to yourself that Johnny caught you in such a picture-perfect moment, he probably couldn’t help himself.
You scroll further through the wedding photos, but realization gradually dawns on you when you notice that there are more photos of you than there should be at an event that wasn’t even your own.
Hastily, you go to the master gallery page to view several photos at once. The camera almost drops from your hands as your fingers fumble with the back button to view photos that date back from weeks and months ago at mutual friends’ gatherings.
Earlier in the summer for Taeyong’s birthday, you see glimpses of you in various shots. Laughing, smiling, wincing. You didn’t even know you had such facial expressions.
There’s shots of your back peering at a sunset, looking off the balcony of Taeil’s new apartment from his housewarming.
Before then, there’s shots of you at a dinner party celebrating Mark’s promotion at work.
Johnny’s taken so many photos of you without you ever knowing. How did you not realize?
You hold the camera’s screen close to your body for a second, wondering if you’re simply Johnny’s artistic muse for a mere project or if there is something actually more to all this.
Did Johnny really see you as more than friends?
Did he view you the way you silently yearn for him, or did he only like you through a camera lens?
Turning your head, you see Johnny strolling out of the store with snacks in his arms. Faster than the speed of light, you ensure the camera roll is back to the last wedding photo taken and almost throw it against the back seat. You seethe, knowing Johnny would kill you if he knew you did that, but you maintain composure. You pull your phone out, playing cool just in time as he opens the door.
During the rest of the ride, you try your hardest to pretend nothing’s wrong. Even when silent, Johnny’s known you long enough to know something’s off. He doesn’t say anything until he pulls up in front of your place. When he does, the suited figure turns off the engine, but leaves the music playing still.
“Hey,” he whispers your name in the night air. It’s tender, but worrisome. Not a common thing you hear from him. “You okay?”
You lie, barely nodding, and glance down with a slight grip on the snacks he bought you. The crinkle of the bags are a loud intrusion to the background music and silent air.
“I…” You’re searching for what to say, deciding if you should continue to lie or not.
“I may have went through your camera.” The truth croaks out of you, and you’re shaking your head because on top of your confusion, you’re feeling waves of guilt from intruding your best friend’s privacy. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have.”
From your peripheral vision, you catch Johnny’s hand grip a little tighter on the steering wheel, then his grip relaxes and he rubs his thumb delicately against it.
“Can I just say,” he speaks after a few passing moments that feel like eternity, into the tension still present in the air. “I’m not a stalker or creeper, I swear.”
A beat passes.
You cut the thick tension with a small laugh. He follows and begins to laugh along with you.
“Thanks, Captain Obvious,” you sarcastically add and look over at him.
“Hey, you know I need to cover my grounds. I don’t need my best friend suing my ass.”
Hearing the term “best friend” lingers and sits with both of you strangely in the air.
“Do you…” you begin to ask the question that may hurt the most, so you elect to ask a less loaded question. “Are you actually doing a photography project using my pictures?”
He nods with the dim street light shining on him. He’s tired, you can tell, and you feel more guilt for keeping him up any longer than you should. Despite his wariness, Johnny still looks gorgeous, especially with the perfect lighting. Sometimes, he jokes that life is a runway for him, but in this moment, you begin to understand and agree with him.
“Yeah, it’s a project on something that I consider beautiful,” Johnny glances over to you as the last word rolls off his tongue, and you’re smiling softly at his compliment. “I’m supposed to present it later this week. I was going to figure out a way to break it to you afterwards.”
Hearing Johnny call you beautiful has your heart fluttering. You just want to jump out of the car, squeal so much that the neighbours would wake up, then you would run into your home and call it a night.
Instead, your body takes control and courage courses through your veins when you reach for the end of his tie. You daintily roll the tip of it between your fingers and let the haunting question free, ready for whatever follows.
“Do you like me? As more than a friend?”
You’re suddenly conscious of how hard you’re breathing and your heart flutters become hard knocks against your chest. Johnny’s face is now a few inches away from yours. At this point, you’re unsure if you’re playing with his tie out of nervousness or desiring for something more, or perhaps both. Your eyes attempt to lock with his and you note how he’s breathing just as hard as you are. You don’t think you’ve ever seen Johnny this nervous before.
“Yeah,” he exhales with a nod. You smell a small hint of the champagne scent against your face from his breath, along with the scent of his faded cologne. Johnny finally manages to match your gaze. “Do you?”
Without a word, you answer his question by practically yanking his tie closer to you, meeting his lips with yours.
The night ends with you two kissing breathlessly in the backseat until hues of orange and yellow begin to stain the horizon.

This is just for you
“Dani, it’s beautiful.”
Dani had been planning for Jamie’s birthday for a little while now. Her last one had been mentioned in passing during one of their earliest conversations at the dinner table at Bly. Owen had explained that he’d offered to make anything Jamie wanted for her dinner and been quite offended when Jamie had had the audacity to request something as pedestrian as bangers and mash. Jamie had quipped that the sausage had been a bit dry.
Everyone had laughed, but Jamie had seemed to react to her laugh, in particular. Dani had seen her smile to herself after noticing. Dani had wished her a belated happy birthday, at which point, Jamie’s cheeks had turned a tad pink, and she’d mumbled a quick thank you before asking Flora about the new book she was reading. Flora had then happily given them a very meandering but thorough summary for the next ten minutes.
Later that night, Dani had casually asked Owen for the specific date and stored it in her mind, even then sensing it would be important. And she’d been mulling over how to celebrate ever since they’d hit the road a couple months ago. She’d known not to go overboard, not wanting to overwhelm her. But, as it turned out, she’d failed at that immediately.
She’d woken up early to make her breakfast, which had been a bit difficult to do in a motel. Dani had managed to convince the owner to let her use a kitchenette off the lobby that was technically supposed to be for employees only. Jamie had woken up shortly after she’d walked back to their room with the plate. Dani, sitting on the side of the bed, smiling widely, had wished her a happy birthday; and for a moment, Jamie had just stared at her before bursting into tears.
Horrified, Dani had put the plate on the floor and taken Jamie in her arms, apologizing profusely — though for what, she wasn’t quite sure. Jamie kept shaking her head, but it had taken her a few minutes to calm enough to be able to explain: she hadn’t realized that Dani knew when her birthday was.
Dani had felt her own eyes tear up. She’d kissed Jamie’s forehead, then retrieved the plate. For the next hour, she’d sat back against the headboard, feeding Jamie her breakfast, while Jamie sat curled up between her legs, laughing and talking, as tears still trickled down her face.
Figuring Jamie needed a reprieve, she’d waited until early evening to give Jamie her present. She’d been surprised when Dani had mentioned it, but fortunately, had smiled — and continued smiling, granted a bit misty-eyed, as Dani had pulled the chest out from under their bed.
The chest was made of oak: sturdy but not flashy. Dani had found a furniture store in town, and there’d been plenty of fanciful painted ones to choose from, but Dani had thought just a simple wood finish suited Jamie better. And watching Jamie run her hand over the top, her mouth hanging open slightly, she knew she’d chosen correctly. Jamie opened it and laughed.
“Could probably fit you in here... this is perfect for our clothes.”
They were already running low on room in their luggage, as they started to accumulate new outfits on the road.
“No, no, this is just for you,” Dani explained, kneeling beside her.
“Oh, I don’t mind. You have more clothes than I do, anyway. And those sweaters of yours take up a lot of room.”
Dani laughed.
“Thank you, but it’s - it’s not for clothes, Jamie.”
Jamie finally took her eyes off the chest, furrowing her brow as she turned to Dani, who took a deep breath.
“I thought - I thought this could be like your... your rucksack... but bigger.”
Jamie’s rucksack was the first thing Jamie took out of the car when they’d arrive at a new motel and the last thing she’d put back in the car when they’d check out. Something had told Dani not to touch it or ask about it. She’d figured Jamie would talk about it eventually, when she felt ready.
And she’d felt ready a couple weeks ago when they’d been getting ready for bed one night. As they’d sat side-by-side, Jamie had gone through its content, laying them out on the duvet.
There was a teddy bear with stuffing coming out along a few seams, a prize she’d won at a fair when she was 5; a well-worn paperback copy of The Outsiders, her favorite book — Sodapop was her favorite character, but it was Johnny who she identified with most strongly; a matchbook she’d knicked from the Manadarin Oriental shortly after moving to London; Parallel Lines by Blondie, the first record she’d ever bought; a receipt from a chip shop, her first meal after getting out of prison; and a receipt from the pub in Bly, her first meal with Dani after leaving the manor.
At that point, Dani, now struggling to see through blurry eyes, had stopped her so she could kiss her. And then, Jamie had shown her the last two momentos.
The first was a short story she’d written for school when she was 11. It was marked up in red, she explained, because her spelling was atrocious — that being one of the words she’d spelled wrong — and it was “pretty shite,” anyway. But she’d held onto to it and even let Dani read it while she’d washed up. Dani had cried immediately, even harder when she’d seen the note on the back from the teacher: “Keep writing, Jamie!”
Jamie had blushed but smiled shyly when she’d returned to find Dani in tears, and then she’d shown her the final item: a photograph of her and Denny sitting on the floor playing cards while baby Mikey slept in her lap.
She was seven, almost eight. Denny was nine. Neither of them were smiling, but instead squinting at the camera, apparently caught off-guard. It had been taken by Louise, a few weeks before she’d left. Her voice thick, Jamie had laughed about her wild hair, noting how “absurd” it looked atop her tiny frame. But Dani had insisted it just made her even cuter.
As Jamie repacked the rucksack, Dani had thanked her for sharing it to her. Emotionally exhausted but seemingly peaceful, Jamie had fallen asleep on her chest shorty thereafter. And it was then, stroking her hair, that Dani had decided what to get her.
“I just - I figured you might need more room now, you know?”
For a few moments, Jamie didn’t say anything, barely reacted at all; and for the second time in one day, Dani worried she’d done something wrong, even moreso when Jamie got up and started walking away. She was about to call after her, until she saw Jamie slide open the closet. And then she’d started to smile.
Jamie leaned onto her tiptoes to reach the shelf above the rod their coats were hanging on, grabbed her rucksack, then walked back over. Wordlessly, she zipped it open and carefully transferred its contents to the chest, before adding the blue-gray, duct-taped-in-a-few-places rucksack itself. And then, surveying her new rucksack, she finally smiled.
After a few moments, she turned back to Dani and threw her arms around her.
“Thank you, Dani.”
Smiling wider, Dani kissed her neck.
“I’m glad you like it.”
They stayed like that for a long time — Dani, cradling her head, rubbing her back. But Jamie never cried, and Dani, of course, didn’t want her to but did admittedly find it a little curious.
It wasn’t until hours later, well after her birthday dinner and their subsequent celebration, that she woke up to find her sitting on the floor by the closet hugging her knees with one hand and running her hand along the rim of the reopened chest, bawling.
Dani swiftly got out of bed, looked around and spotted her robe hanging off a chair. She threw it on and padded over to Jamie, who she saw was wearing a T-shirt. It was then that Jamie looked up.
“Oh, sorry! I’m sorry.”
She knelt down and pulled Jamie to her, cradling Jamie’s head against her chest.
“Shh... it’s okay, it’s okay.”
She felt Jamie shake her head.
“I didn’t... mean to... ”
“Jamie, it’s okay.”
She kissed the top of her head. And for a few minutes, Jamie didn’t say anything as she continued to cry. Then, breathing haltingly, she pulled back to look at Dani.
“I don’t... I don’t know how to... thank you.”
Dani smiled but looked at her rather quizzically as she cupped her cheek.
“Honey, you already did.”
Jamie swallowed and shook her head.
“Properly, I mean... you... ” She cleared her throat and looked down. “No one’s ever - ”
“Jamie.”
Jamie looked back up.
“Use it... use the chest. That’s all the thanks I need, okay?”
After a moment, Jamie nodded, sniffling, then laughed awkwardly as she began wiping her face.
“I’m - ”
“Jay.”
Jamie smiled shyly and nodded again. Dani helped her up, after she closed the chest and the closet, and guided her back to bed, but then hesitated herself. She didn’t really want to keep wearing the robe, but she didn’t feel like rooting through drawers in the dark. But before she could decide, Jamie had crawled over to the foot of the bed.
She hopped off, opened one drawer, immediately pulled something out, closed it and walked over to Dani, holding her Blondie T-shirt. Dani gasped softly.
“Jamie... ”
“We - we can share it... I want to share it.”
Dani smiled.
“You’re sure?”
Jamie nodded, smiling shyly again, and Dani leaned in for a quick kiss.
“Thank you.”
Then, they were back in bed, Jamie’s head her chest once more. For a few minutes, they lay in silence.
“You’ve set the bar pretty high for me, ya know?”
Dani stopped twirling Jamie’s hair for a moment.
“What?”
“For your birthday.”
Dani smiled.
“You know when my birthday is?”
Jamie scoffed.
“’Course I do!”
“But... ”
Her birthday had never even come up in conversation, at least not that she remembered.
“Checked your passport at the airport... when you were in the bathroom... Nice photo, by the way.”
Dani felt her heart melt. Jamie had anticipated her birthday, and yet still hadn’t expected anything of Dani for her own.
“Jamie... ”
Jamie cleared her throat.
“Well, now you’ve gone and ruined my plans, anyway. Oak chest was ma first thought.”
Dani laughed.
“I’m sure you’ll be able to think of something.”
Jamie sighed dramatically.
“I guess... Night, Poppins.”
“Night, Jay.”
Dani leaned forward to kiss the top of head, then layed back. Jamie smiled to herself as she closed her eyes. She’d thought of Dani’s present months ago, before they’d even left Bly.

ca you do a bts or nct version of the got7 (a member yells at you) imagine you did a while ago :) thank you
PT. 1
Your stomach was a never ending pit of nerves. All day circling the web were pictures of H/N smiling as he whispered in some girl you didn't recognized ear. You paced, constantly checking his location as you waited for him to get home. You had a plan, to ask him about the pictured rationally, and not jump to any conclusions until you had a chance to talk to him. It was the right thing to do, and for all you knew it was one of his make up artists and she was fixing something on his face. You knew not to believe the comments on line.  ‘We need to talk.’
Your heart stopped at his text, and everything you did to try to get yourself to calm down and think rationally. He showed up guns a blazing, throwing his backpack on the ground and kicking off his shoes. Seeing the way he was reacting made your blood boil. He had no right to be the mad one in this situation.
“What is your deal?” You asked as he completely ignored you to open your fridge.
“My deal? Why, do you think your special enough to know everything that is going through my head?” He snapped back.
“Um, no? I guess? But I definitely think Im special enough to get an answer to something as drastic as this?” You said with a sarcastic tone as you slid your phone with the picture on it across the counter at him.
“God, you really are crazy, aren't you.” He started, his voice raising. “You know, maybe instead of obsessing over me, and trying to keep your relevance through me you should grow up and get a life of your own!”
He watched you with hateful eyes as tears started to well up. He knew the one thing you were the most insecure about was the perception that you were only with him for his fame.
You turned and walked into your bedroom, locking the door behind you. What ever was going on in the photo didn't matter anymore. He went somewhere you never thought he would go, and the thought that he felt like you were only with him to stay ‘relevant’ broke your heart.
Taeyong:
He must have left after his blow up because there was no attempt to come after you. You laid in your room crying for hours, and when the tears finally seemed to stop you left your room to a dark apartment. It wasn't hard to notice the things he brought with him were all gone, and he was no where to be found. You sat in your dark apartment not doing anything for a long time, not really sure what to do. Or where you stood with Taeyong. It wasn't until your phone lit up did your eyes leave the window you stared out of. It was him.  You contemplated not answering, but deciding to be the bigger person you answered and put the phone on speaker, but didn't say anything.
“Y/n?” He said. His voice completely different from before. You didn't answer.  “Im sorry.” He started, you could imagine him hunched over picking at his nails as he spoke. You thought about biting back but chose against it, not wanting to cause anymore damage.  “That picture was a set up, if you will. My make up artist wanted a picture that made it look like we were in a relationship to show he friends but when her friends posted it it became a huge problem. I spent all day being yelled at for something I didn't realize was happening. I shouldn't have taken it out on you.
You could hear the sadness in his voice, so you had to forgive him, but you made it very clear that you were not okay, and he would spend how ever long it took to make it up to you.
Tumblr media
Kun:
He’d be quick to realize just how out of place he was and would quickly run after you, stopping to door before it could fully lock. He’d just grab you and hug you tightly. He wouldn't say anything, because he wouldn't know what to say, but you could tell by the way he hugged you he wanted to take back everything he said. He’d hold you until you eventually wrapped your arms around him too, and once you did a tear would roll down his cheek.  “I shouldn't have said that. I shouldn't have taken my bad day out on you.” He said, a sad smile on his lips as he tucked a stray hair or two of yours behind your ear.
He’d tell you all about his day and how he got ripped for falling into a trap set for him by a stylist. He wouldn't ignore what it was he said either, and make it very clear that he didn't think at all that you were in anyway only with him because he was famous.
By the time night rolled around the two of you had slumped into the bed and laid there giggling, as he got around to telling you about the good things that happened during his day.
Tumblr media
Taeil:
Speaking to anyone like this was so out of character for him, and it shocked him just as much as it shocked you that he exploded like that. He’d stand there, staring at your door, not sure what to do, and he’d stand there, staring as he listened to your sobs, completely frozen. He’d eventually move to the couch, and sit there with his head in his hands, completely confused as to what it was he was going to do to make this situation better.
When you finally came out, the sight of youre red face made him break down. You were shocked to see he was still there. You were also confused as to why he didnt try to talk to you in the hours past. He would just look at you with the saddest eyes and and when you sat next to him hed turn his head into your shoulder and whisper ‘im sorry’ as you stroked his hair.
You wouldnt be able to bring up the photo again. Youd hear from other members about the situation and how the picture looked 100x worse than it actually was. Theyd also tell you that you werent the only one accusing him of something he would never do in a hundred years, and how he came to your place right after Johnny and Jaehyun ripped him for it looking like he was being unfaithful.
Tumblr media
Johnny:
You would hear the front door slam right after you slammed your own door, and you wouldn't hear from him until the next day. You had spent alright feeling sick to your stomach, convinced now that your relationship was over. He had never yelled at you like that, so to be in this situation you feared the worse. The next day you laid on your couch, still softly crying at the thought of loosing him, and the last words he would have said to you.
You got up only when there was a knock on your door. Lifelessly you walked to it and slowly open it. Only to turn around and walk away when you saw Johnny standing there looking just a rough as you probably did. You turned to walk away but the feeling of him quickly grabbing you from behind and holding you tight made you tense up.
You honestly didnt know if you could forgive him, but as he held you tightly he spoke into your shoulder a sincere apology. You turned when he was finished to see he had started to cry and when you walked away slightly he let out a soft sob.
“You cant treat me like that.” You said sternly, tears forming in your own eyes. You watched as he nodded and sighed before wrapping your blanket around him and accepting him as he wrapped you in his arms. The two of you stood like that for a while, and once he was finally ready to talk again he explained everything and how it was just one big misunderstanding.
Tumblr media
Yuta:
He wouldnt take you storming off as an answer. He would be fully aware of his actions and he would act fast to fix it. He’d grab your hand before you could turn to close the door and pull you back out to the kitchen. He’d point at your phone and tell you quickly that this photo was a misunderstanding and the person who took it posted it with malicious intent. As soon as that was out his tone would soften. He would explain where he was coming from. How he had just got out of a five hour meeting where he had to convince people who didnt believe him the truth and then help identify the person who posted the photo.
When that was done explaining that he acknowledge what he said. But by the time he had gotten to that you were already holding his hand and had already made up your mind to forgive him. Hed sigh, feeling bad now for ruining the evening, but things would get back to normal when you suggested food, and the two of you would be able to unwind on the couch
Tumblr media
Doyoung:
Doyoung would be in shock at your reaction, and then what he said would really settle in. Hed sit at your door, knocking and pleading for you to open the door. Hed send apologies your way through the door as he desperately tried to get you to open it. When you finally did, hed just look at you and when the tear you were trying to hold back finally broke hed sigh and wrap you in a hug. Hed tell you he didnt mean what he said. He’d apologize for taking his hard day out on you and ask you if you wanted to hear about the picture.
The look on his face though had already confirmed that it was all a miss understanding, so when you shook your head he would nod and pull you into a soft, sweet kiss. Hed ask you if you forgave him and you would see the world lift off his shoulders when you nodded. Seeing how hard he fought to get you to understand was more than enough.

Crush || Matthew Tkachuk
Tumblr media
Requested: [ ] yes [x] no
Authors Note: So I’m not sure how I feel about this because Matthew’s personality is difficult for me. I know he’s normally sarcastic and confident but I feel like if he’s hiding a crush he’d be a little different. And throw in a kid and that brings out even more softness so I don’t know if this feels like him at all….but let me know what you think. I was watching his NBCSports interview from the all-star game and tried to base his temperament on that but idk how accurate I got.

The cool air of the rink was the same. The feeling of his skates cutting through the ice was the same. The sound of sticks on pucks and his teammates chirping was the same. Everything about today’s practice was the same except for one thing...
Practice had started five minutes ago and his favorite team photographer wasn’t in her normal spot on the bench.
Matthew couldn’t recall the last time that y/n had missed a practice. Her presence was such a part of the routine by now that for some reason her absence left him feeling bothered. Standing at the blue line, Matthew tried to pay attention to his coach’s instructions, determined to push past this unsettled feeling. Skating hard toward the net, he buried a puck past Rittich, a flash of movement from the bench catching his eye as he returned to his previous spot. Before he could assure himself that it was her, that everything was back to normal, Gelinas had pulled him aside wanting to chat about his shot and how to improve his game when breakout chances occurred.
By the time Coach had finished with him, the next drill had already started. Taking a moment to figure out what was going on, Matthew settled himself at the back of the line before finally taking the chance to glance over at the bench. His heart settled back into place at the realization that the movement had been just who he was hoping it was. In the same millisecond, his jaw dropped as he realized that while she held her camera in one hand, snapping away like usual, things weren’t exactly normal. No...normally y/n didn’t have a baby resting on her hip.
Lost in thought, Matt didn’t even realize that he was next in line for the drill until Johnny was shoving him from behind. And although Matt attempted to focus and participate in practice, there was one question that wouldn’t leave his mind.
She has a kid?
You see, while Y/N was a staple at Flames practices, Matt had never actually really talked to her before. Of course, he’d occasionally hover over her shoulder to comment on the photos of him she’d taken, but he really didn’t know anything about her personal life. Admittedly, he had made a point to observe a lack of any rings on her left hand but now...seeing her with a baby made him realize that that observation really meant little to nothing at all.
Partway through practice, Matthew had watched TJ Brodie skate over to her during a forward-only drill and he watched as she chatted with him, a smile on her face as she adjusted the kid against her side who appeared to cling tighter to her. From the other side of the rink, Gio watched as his young assistant captain eyed their photographer, his obvious crush ever more apparent. No one had said anything to him about the crush yet, but maybe it was finally time to give him a little shove in the right direction.
A modified scrimmage was set up to conclude the on-ice practice and for a while, Matthew lost himself in the game, forgetting about y/n and the baby on the bench. It wasn’t until the puck deflected oddly off of someone’s stick and he heard a feminine screech of pain that it all came flooding back. Over on the bench, y/n was shaking out her right arm frantically, her fingers clenching into a fist and releasing repeatedly. With play stopped and Ward checking to make sure she was okay, Matthew couldn’t help but listen as she assured his coach that she was fine, that she was more worried about the baby and the camera than taking a bouncing puck to the arm. Still, he noticed the grimace on her face and a rush of anger filled him at the thought of her being hurt. It was a stupid feeling because it was a fluky play and while he cursed himself for it, it was an emotion he was finding hard to control.
By the time he looked over at the bench again, she was gone, clearly not willing to risk another stray puck flying her way when she really wasn’t able to protect herself.
The nagging feeling that he should go check on her followed him into the locker room as Matthew stripped out of his gear. He’d have a few minutes between grabbing a shower and the team film session if he was quick. But as he stood in the shower he told himself that it would be ridiculous and weird if he tracked her down. After all, they weren’t friends and the last thing he needed was for his teammates to give him hell over it.
Still, after throwing on some sweats and a t-shirt, Matt found himself standing in the middle of the hallway, his brain telling him to head to film, while his heart pulled the other way. Caught in a mental debate, he missed Gio walking down the hall from the training room until he was hit in the chest with something thrown by his captain. Catching it, he looked up confused as to why he had an ice pack and a roll of elastic bandage wrap now in his hands.
“She’s down the hall. Go help her wrap the ice pack around her arm.” Gio directed.
“Wait. What?” Matt found slipping from his lips.
“Chuck...she has a kid, not the plague.” Gio declared. “Now go before I have to watch you debate whether you should for a minute longer.”
“I wasn’t…” Matt attempted to defend himself but Gio just walked away shaking his head before Matt could finish his sentence. Sighing to himself, Matt adjusted the items in his grip before turning down the hall where Gio had pointed, finding y/n sitting on the ground just around the corner with her back against the wall, computer propped up on a box and baby sleeping on her chest.
Running his fingers through his hair, Matt sighed before approaching, the sound of his footsteps causing y/n to look in his direction.
“So uh...Gio sent me with an ice pack for your arm.” Matt stated, his voice cracking, driving him completely nuts.
“Thank you.” She whispered back softly, her lips dropping down to press against the baby’s head in an effort to ensure that it didn’t wake up. Now that he was closer Matthew noticed the pink clothes and though it was gender-biased, he took that to mean that this was a little girl. Unmoving for a moment, Matthew just Y/N with her daughter until she reached up for the ice pack.
“Oh uh...can I help you? Gio sent a bandage wrap to keep it in place so you didn’t have to hold it.” Matt found himself rambling, something else that was so unlike his normal behavior. When she nodded, he found himself smiling, dropping into a squat beside her and taking the offered arm. “Did you get hit on the front of the arm...or the side?” He questioned, unable to see any signs of bruising as she wore long sleeves.
“It hit here.” She pointed out, grazing her hand along her daughter’s head as she returned her free hand to the baby’s back. With appropriate direction, it only took a minute or two for Matt to secure the ice pack, and once he was done, he stood back up, his fingers tangling in his hair again.
“Well...you should be all set.” He stated. “And I should head to film.” Shoving his hands into the pockets of his sweats he turned to walk away, only pausing when he heard her melodic voice say his name.
“Thanks Matt.” She murmured and it was sad that those two words alone caused his chest to swell.
As he settled into film he had so many new questions. He had to remind himself that they weren’t any of his business and that his business was to focus on the screen in front of him and not on how gentle she was with her daughter or how wonderful her voice sounded speaking his name. He’d be chirped for weeks if the guys knew where his head was at and he had a reputation to uphold.
___
By the time they finished watching film, Matt was ready to go grab something to eat before hitting the gym for some weights. Detouring back to the locker room for his forgotten phone, Matt had to walk down by where y/n had situated herself in order to get to the player’s lounge. As he passed the side hallway where he’d see her just an hour or so before he once again heard his name, this time being called out with more volume and energy.
Though his stomach was growling, Matt was unable to keep walking and so he stopped and turned down the hallway finding Y/N standing over a now awake child.
“Oh Matt...thank god.” She declared. “Can you do me a massive favor and watch Lottie for a minute while I use the bathroom?” Her words came out in such a rush that by the time his brain processed them she was looking at him expectantly, bouncing on her toes.
“I don’t…” He started and for the second time today, his protests were being cut off.
“Please?? Just make sure she doesn’t go walking away.” Apparently his body language signaled his agreement because immediately she smiled and kneeled down next to the little girl.
“Mommy will be right back. Stay here with Mr. Tkachuk and behave. I’m coming right back after using the bathroom.” Though the little girl whined for a moment she eventually nodded at Y/N and with that the woman who was driving him crazy disappeared down the hall leaving him with her daughter.
If Matt were honest, he didn’t know the first thing about kids and so he stood just watching ‘Lottie’ as she stared back up at him with big brown eyes. Feeling awkward he eventually slid himself to the floor, leaning against the wall, his gaze remaining on the baby as if she would magically vanish if he so much as blinked.
Y/N had been gone far longer than a minute and Matt found himself glancing down the hallway to see if she was on her way back when he felt two tiny hands pressing down on his thigh as the little girl plopped herself down right next to him, a book lying beside her. As she settled herself, she reached for the book before attempting to hand it to him.
“M. Chuck...ook peas.” She requested, those big brown eyes staring into his once more. Gently taking the book from her, Matthew opened it and just stared at the page until it clicked that she wanted him to read to her. It was a children’s book, one which had maybe five words a page and so he complied, telling her about the cat and the rat and the bat and the hat. As he turned each page he couldn’t help but marvel at the look that crossed Lottie’s face and as he finished, he nearly jumped hearing Y/N’s voice above him.
“Tell Mr. Tkachuk thank you Lottie.” With a giggle, the little girl nodded and Matt watched as she brought her fingertips to her chin before moving it away, palm up.
“Tank u” She babbled before pulling herself up and throwing herself at her mom’s legs.
“Yes. Thank you.” Y/N echoed, as Matt set the book down and pulled himself to his feet.
“Was that sign language?” He asked, not even realizing how random of a question that was until it had been asked.
“It was. She started learning sign language as a way to communicate before she could talk.” Y/N explained. “She doesn’t really need it now, but I think she enjoys it because she pairs it with her words still.” Matt merely nodded in response, his hands finding their way back to his pockets once more.
“Seriously thank you for watching her. My bladder was about to burst.” Y/N explained. “She’s been so clingy today because she’s teething again and with hand, foot, and mouth disease going around her daycare I had no choice but to bring her with me today and I did not realize how hard it would be to have a clingy sixteen-month-old attached to my hip as I tried to work.”
“It’s no problem,” Matt assured her, though his brain was now spinning with all of the information she had just thrown at him. She had answered some of his questions, but there were still many more lingering.
As he lifted weights an hour later, Matthew missed the looks his teammates were giving him as he watched Y/N between reps as she flowed easily between taking pictures of the Flames in the gym and capturing snapshots of her daughter who was trapped into a corner with plyo boxes working on a puzzle. No one commented on the smile that appeared on his face as he watched Lottie bounce on her toes as she called out for her mom to show off her finished foam puzzle, but that didn’t mean that they weren’t storing up ammunition to chirp him later.
If things went the way the vets had a feeling they would, there would be plenty of time to do just that in the future.

covetous - f.andersen
Author’s Notes: Hiya, someone requested I rewrite Covetous but with the other ending I had planned & it didn’t take much thought to realize I wanted it to happen. So, here it is! (it will be multi-part) Hope you enjoy !
Tumblr media
Fred didn’t want you to meet his teammates.
Which, yenno, hurt, considering you’ve been dating for about a year now.
Yeah, I know. A whole ass year.
But standing here, in Auston’s kitchen, with Freddie’s arm on your side and Auston’s back retreating from the room, you realize why he’s been putting it off.
OR
The one where Auston tries to steal Freddie’s girl.
The day started off great, you and Freddie got up and had breakfast together and you made plans to go to a few shops downtown and try to get some summer clothes, but while Freddie was in the shower he got a message from the group chat that he and the boys were in, knowing he wouldn’t mind, you check it.
Johnny T: hey guys, don’t forget we have the team dinner today at 1, and I want everyone to be there, it’s our last one before the season ends.
Mo: got it.
Kappy: yeah yeah we know
Marns: hey fredster, this time bring your girl, Steph keeps bugging me to meet her
Willy: yeah Fred, what’re you hiding anyway?
Kappy: her, obviously
Johnny T: the invite includes her too Freddie, like always
So, it’s not just you. You think and put his phone down.
You walk into the bathroom and start to get ready, and once you’re almost done with your makeup, Freddie shuts the water off, stepping out of the shower and giving you a smile.
He comes up and wraps a towel around his waist, reaching for his toothbrush and you finish applying your lip gloss then question him, “How come you didn’t tell me there was a team dinner today?” He furrows his eyebrows, “How’d you find out?” You shrug, “Your phone kept going off, I thought it was important, but it was just the group chat.” Fred spits out the toothpaste and sighs, “I just didn’t think you would want to go, we made plans already.” You huff and make your way back to the bedroom, “How come you’re so against me meeting everyone? By the looks of the group chat, you’re the only one who doesn’t want it to happen.”
Freddie finished brushing his teeth and walked out of the bathroom, “I don’t mean to be elsker, I just, don’t know.” You stand up and hand him his phone, “It’s been long enough Fred, I want to meet them.”
You walk into your closet and change your clothes, opting for a pair of jean shorts and a nice white flounce sleeve shirt, tucking that in and putting on a belt. You try to decide which shoes to wear and go for your black and white plaid heeled ankle boots. Looking at yourself in the mirror, you walk back out and tell Freddie you’ll wait for him downstairs, grabbing your purse and leaving the bedroom.
Freddie sighs and looks at his phone.
5 new messages.
Marns: C’mon big unit, you can’t read our messages and just not reply
Mo: we didn’t mean to offend you, we just want to meet her
Kappy: some more than others...👀
Auston: shut up kappy
Johnny T: enough guys, this is why he doesn’t want to bring her.
Freddie frowns at his teammate’s messages, debating on actually going or not. He thinks about what could happen and he thinks of you, when he thinks of you, he feels ridiculous, you’re his girlfriend, he’ll be introducing you as his girlfriend, everyone knows you’re his, and you always remind him you’re his. You love him, nothing will happen.
Glancing down at his phone once more, he types out his reply, going into the closet to change.
Big Red: We’ll be there, no funny business.
Three hours later and a couple shopping bags in the back and you’re on your way to John and Aryne’s house to finally meet the team and their SO’s. You’re a little nervous but from the messages you’ve seen this morning, at least you know that they want to meet you too. You take Freddie’s hand in yours and he brings it to your mouth to place a kiss on top. You smile fondly, “I love you Freddie.” He glances at you and smiles back, “I love you too dronning.”
Little did you know how much your words reassured him.
“Fred’s here!” You both heard from the other side of the door, waiting for someone to open it. You huff a laugh and Freddie shakes his head, “They’re a little chaotic.” You nod, giggling, “Good to know.”
The door opens and Aryne comes into view, greeting you both with a smile, “Hey Fred, this must be Y/N! I’m Aryne, it’s very lovely to finally meet you.” She pulls you in for a hug and you smile, “It’s so nice to meet you too.” She steps to the side and lets you both in, and you look up to see almost everyone standing in the living room, ready to introduce themselves. Fred leads you into the room and you’re pulled in for many hugs, and handshakes from his teammates and their girlfriends/wives.
Steph, Aryne, and Audrey pull you away and you all grab some wine and they start getting to know you. Freddie gets pulled in conversation with some of the boys and soon enough you both end up spending at least an hour without each other.
You’re out of wine then and ask where you can get some more, and Steph perks up, “Oh in the kitchen, I’ll come with you.” You nod and slip away from the circle and you both end up chatting a little bit by the island.
“So yeah, we all were wondering when we would finally see you at one of these things, us girls are already planning girls days we can have, oh and since we finally have your number and social media, we can officially add you to our group chat.” She chats and you nod, “I’ve been wondering too, and I’ve been bugging Freddie for the past few months, I’m glad I got to come, you all are very sweet and welcomed me pretty quickly.” She waves her hand, “Of course, you’re pretty much like family now.”
“Hey Steph, Mitch was looking for you.” You hear someone say and you both turn your heads to see Auston, “Don’t worry, I think I can manage to keep her company until you come back.” Steph nods and says a quick, “Be right back” as she leaves the room.
You smile at Auston and he smiles back, “We hadn’t gotten the chance to talk after meeting, and I’ve been meaning to compliment your shoes.” You look down and back up, “Thanks, I wasn’t sure of them because of the occasion but decided that they make a great first impression.” Auston nods, “I agree, and besides, with fashion, you can never go wrong.” You shoot him a smile and nod, “Yeah, go big or go home, right?” He laughs, “Exactly.”
You stand there for a second and he speaks, “So, Fred tells me you went shopping today?” And that’s how you got caught up in a twenty-minute conversation about bold fashion choices and overly expensive clothing.
Freddie was almost done telling John about his and your offseason plans when he notices you’re not with the girls anymore. Shaking it off, he finishes his story and makes an excuse about needing another beer. John lets him go, pulling Willy into conversation.
Fred checks his watch and widens his eyes at the fact that he hasn’t seen you in almost two hours after you’ve arrived. Going up to Aryne and Audrey, he asks, “Do you guys know where Y/N is?” Audrey speaks, “Yeah, her and Steph are in the kitchen.” He nods and kind of calms, making his way into the kitchen, but when he sees you’re definitely not with Steph and with someone he wanted you to steer clear from, his heart rate picks up again and he squares his shoulders as he walks up to you and Auston.
You’re telling Auston that you were planning on going to the mall with one of the girls when you feel an arm around your waist, pulling you into their side. You turn away from Auston and smile when you see that it’s Freddie, “Hi bubba.” Fred smiles, “Hey min elskede, whatcha been up to?” You gesture to Auston, “I was just going to ask Auston which one of the girls would want to accompany me to the mall tomorrow, you know, since you’ll be in that little meeting thing with Sheldon and Kyle.”
Auston doesn’t even wait for Freddie to say anything, taking up the opportunity, “Actually, funnily enough I was planning on going to the mall tomorrow myself, maybe I can accompany you.” You tilt your head slightly to the side, “Oh okay, that’d be fun, and maybe you can give me fashion advice.”
You’re only joking, making friendly conversation and the seriousness in Auston’s voice catches you off guard, “Trust me, you won’t need it. You’ll look good in everything.” You laugh awkwardly and Freddie clears his throat, “Well in that case, I’m sure she won’t need you to go with her if she knows what she’s doing.” You look up at Freddie and his face is set in a harsh glare toward Auston, and when you look at Auston you notice he’s smirking.
After another beat of awkward silence, you clear your throat and decide to speak up, “I’m sure Steph wouldn’t mind coming with me, I’ll just ask her.” Your words seem to knock the two men out of their silent brooding toward each other and they both look down at you, Freddie seeming relieved and Auston looking dejected, “Oh I see, maybe next time then.” You curtly nod, shooting one smaller smile and he turns away.
As you’re watching his back retreat from you and Freddie, you evaluate their actions in your head and suddenly it’s like a light bulb going off in your head, “Fred…is this why you didn’t want to bring me to these things?” Freddie sighs and takes your hand, leading you into the hallway, away from everyone.
“Listen min elskede, it’s not that I was ashamed of you, or that I wasn’t serious about this or anything, I’ve put it off because I didn’t want you to meet him. Somehow, when we first got together and I told the boys about you, they found your Instagram. When Auston saw your photos he immediately thought you were beautiful, well I mean who wouldn’t, but anyway, I just didn’t want him to pull anything and I thought I would be safe tonight, guess not.”
Your face falls at the sadness in his eyes and his tone, reaching up to place your hand on his cheek, “Freddie, no matter what he does, what he says, I’m yours. Yours. I only accepted his offer to the mall because I thought he was being friendly. If it means that much, I won’t go.” Fred nods and sighs, “Maybe I am being too dramatic, and I know you two wouldn’t do anything. If you really want to, you can go with him. I’m not about to be one of those guys that doesn’t allow their girlfriends to do anything.”
You blow air from your nose, “If it makes you uncomfortable, and you know you can’t trust someone, then you can tell me if you don’t want me to go with them anywhere, it’s not being controlling, it’s being mindful of the situation.” You explain to him and it gets him thinking.
Can he trust Auston? Can he trust that he won’t try anything? He knows he trusts you; you hadn’t given him any reason not to, and the more he thinks about it, Auston hasn’t given him a reason not to either, maybe he’s just giving him a hard time. Auston could just be teasing him for making the boys wait for so long. They’re teammates, he wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize the team.
So, with that last thought in his head, he looks down at you and kisses your forehead, smiling softly, “If you want to, you can.”
You smile at him, “Are you sure?” Fred nods, “I’m sure min elskede.”
Hearing his words, you reach up and place a kiss to his lips, “Thank you Freddie.” He hums, “No need to thank me.”
And just like before when he saw you talking to Auston earlier, as you both walk back to the living room, he catches Auston’s eye, who breaks it momentarily to rake over your body, before returning to Freddie’s eyes and winking, his heart rate picks up and he’s glaring back at Auston.
and once again, he’s rethinking his previous words.

October Ink | #1
You and Donghyuck have big plans to show off your couple costumes Halloween night. Nothing’s going to ruin that... right?
You should’ve brought your bag to school today. Huffing, you adjusted your binder and books in your arms once more, cursing Donghyuck out in your mind. How did he convince you that your backpack was going to throw off your couples costume?
It wasn’t unbelievable that the Wasp and Ant-man wouldn’t carry backpacks.
The air smelled of pumpkins and damp leaves, and as the sun set up ahead, you tilted your head back, welcoming the chilly air. Kids ran by with their halloween bags, their giggles making you smile.
You truly loved fall. There was nothing like it. Of course, Christmas was magical. Spring reminded you that the warmth was coming, so cherish the pastel aesthetic. Fall? It was travelling to another dimension.
The book on the bottom of your stack started to slip out of your arms again, so you prepared yourself to heave them up- only for hands to jab your sides and a low voice in your ear. You jumped, your books flying to the sidewalk as you sent your elbow flying back into the attacker’s stomach.
“Shit!” You instantly recognized the voice, reeling around to see Jeno doubled over, looking more comical than ever in his skeleton costume. “You didn’t recognize my voice?!”
“Yeah, because I’m supposed to guess it’s you by your evil growl. What’s wrong with you?!”
“I literally just saw you! We were just in stats together. We live in the same neighborhood, for crying out loud.”
“It’s Halloween. My eyes are on the lookout for dolls in striped shirts and babysitter slashers.”
Jeno rolled his eyes, grabbing your books like they were the weight of pillows. He matched your pace- well, you had to match his but that's besides the point.
“I forgot how jumpy you could be.”
You side-eyed him, never being able to stay mad at him for long. You’d known him for the duration of high school, and he was probably the sole reason you were so bad at math. How could you focus when he was always making witty remarks underneath his breath that made you laugh?
“You and Hyuck are still going to Yeji’s party tonight right?”
“Yes, Jeno, I already told you. Besides, he insists on showing off our costumes.”
“They are pretty cool. I would’ve gone for Cap and Black Widow though.”
You scoffed. “If that were the case, it would be HULK and Black Widow.”
The two of you proceeded to argue over Black Widow’s true soulmate, eventually settling on your agreement that Natasha deserved better in general.
The conversation shifted, Jeno complaining about how Jaemin spent too much time in October trying to prank him. You teased him, throwing his own line of “I forgot how jumpy you could be”. He brushed it off with a roll of his eyes and a plan to scare the shit out of Jaemin at the party tonight.
You humored him, daydreaming about how cute Donghyuck would look in his Ant-Man suit.
“Well, this is me,” You nodded, like he didn’t know this was your house.
He handed over your books. Jeno waited for you to climb up the steps and unlock your front door, smiling and waving as you turned to give him a nod.
Just before he disappeared out of view you called, “You couldn’t have come up with a better costume? I mean, skeleton?”
He stretched his arms out. “I’m Johnny. From Karate Kid? Get it together, Y/N.”
Shaking your head, you went inside.
A few hours passed, and you spent most of the time eating too much candy and getting pulled back to the tv to watch Halloween when you should’ve been doing your homework. Why do teachers want to kill any sort of joy?
It was 8 pm, Donghyuck was going to pick you up in thirty minutes and you were cursing yourself out for watching Michael Myers running around killing people more than doing this last assignment.
You drilled away at your laptop, muting the tv and opting to play a spooky playlist on Spotify. Here and there, you’d get pulled away from the couch to hand out candy. You really were a hero.
There was a page left of your essay, and your fingers were aching. You didn’t want to hear Donghyuck’s whining if you weren’t ready when he pulled up. A part of you wished that you had just gone to your parents’ work party- nope. Even now, you refused to mentally agree with that.
Phone going off, you prepared yourself to come up with a smooth apology- only to be graced with good luck.
baby                8:27 pm
 Running a few minutes late. Should be there by 9.
He was lucky your parents were a little lenient on Halloween. Though, that only gave you two, maybe three hours at the party. You texted him back quickly, feeling good about being able to BS the rest of your essay in time.
The extra time loosened up your worries, even forcing yourself to take a bathroom break. When you came back, you settled in and got to work finishing up.
With a few minutes to spare, you finished and printed it out, putting it away in your bag. There was nothing like the excitement that hit you then. Yeji’s parties were always fun, though you didn’t get to go often. It was a miracle your parents let you on a Thursday. Like you said, leniency.
You spent the last few minutes eating pretzels and catching the beginning of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Getting caught up in the movie, you didn’t realize that quite a few minutes have passed. When you checked your phone next, your eyes widened at the 9:34 pm displayed on your lock screen. Usually, you’d catch yourself admiring the photo of Donghyuck kissing your cheek, a huge smile on your lips. Not this time.
Lowering the volume, you clicked his name and called him. You waited and waited, the fourth ring passing by… the fifth. After it went to voicemail, you tried again. Still no answer. You texted him, wondering what was going on.
A text came in and you clicked it, your shoulders relaxing only to deflate at Jeno’s name.
jeno                  9:38 pm
“YeS JeNo. I aLrEaDy ToLd YoU-”
MY ASS! Where are you????
Texting him quickly, you realized that the reason your heart was beating so fast was because Donghyuck never did this. Even if he ran late, he always kept you in the loop. This was not the night for him to be pranking you.
We are! Donghyuck said he’d be here by 9 and he’s not picking up the phone.
I’m worried. He never does this.
The three dots showed up, then disappeared. After a minute that felt like a mile, Jeno texted back.
jeno.               9:41 pm
Don’t freak out. I’m sure it’s fine. You want me to come over? Jaemin can drive. He’s the DD.
The thought made you feel better, and it took everything in you not to say yes. You had to think clearly though and not jump to conclusions. It was only thirty minutes. Donghyuck could’ve been driving, or fell asleep, or just hasn’t seen his phone.
Your phone started ringing, making you jump. You breathed deeply as you answered Jeno’s call.
“Hey,” You tried to control your tone, not wanting to ring any alarm bells. It was loud on Jeno’s end, music making it hard to hear him
“Did you see my text? Jaemin and i can head over if you want.”
He already sounded a bit gone, but you appreciated his concern. Breathing in deeply, you made a choice.
“It’s fine. I’ll give him some time.”
“Alright, well let me know. Doesn’t matter what time it is. And you shouldn’t be moping around alone on Halloween anyways. If I find out he flaked on you, I will pummel him-”
“Relax, it’s okay. I’m sure something came up. He’ll be here soon.”
You hung up, ropes tightened taut in your stomach and making it hard to breathe let alone think. Putting your phone down, you tried focusing on the tv. It didn’t work, picking it up again and calling Donghyuck. No answer.
Sweat was beginning to build at your lower back, so you pulled off the top of your costume. It was okay, you had to tell yourself. Don’t jump to conclusions. As much as you loved Halloween, it always made you extra jumpy.
All the candy and worry made you queasy, so you went to the kitchen to look for something to eat. Not in the mood to make anything, you pulled out some leftovers from last night. Right as you grabbed it from the fridge, three loud bangs came from the front door.
Almost dropping the container, relief flooded your veins as you closed the fridge and put the container on the counter, beelining for the front door.
Your hand paused on the knob, eyes finding your phone. If it was Donghyuck, he would’ve called. Peeking out the peephole, your breath went still at the lone figure on your porch, clothed in black, a wolf mask with a snarling mouth hiding their face.
Their hands were in their pockets, no bag for candy in sight.
This wasn’t Donghyuck. Your gut was screaming at you that this wasn’t a trick or treater either.
Your phone went off then, but you hesitated to look away from the peephole. Debating what to do, you raced for your phone and back to the door.
They hadn’t moved, like they were a mere decoration on your front porch. You picked up the phone, breathless. “Hello?”
“What do you want?”
Your eyebrows drew together, pulling the phone away to see it was Donghyuck. It was him, his voice, everything. Why was he so mad?
“What do you mean? Where are you?”
“Like you care. What, regretting it already?”
Blinking, stranger on the porch forgotten, you searched for words. Your mouth worked for you. “Regret what? What are you talking about’?”
“Stop calling me. Texting me. You think you can just dump me and pretend it didn’t happen?”
You couldn’t breathe for a different reason now, mind muddled. “What? I- Donghyuck, I didn’t break up with you. What are you even talking about?”
“Y/N. You just texted me after I said I’m running late. Told me to go fuck myself and you were done. What, you have short memory now? Real nice.”
You were unable to breathe, goosebumps breaking out against your skin. Turning back to the front door, you uttered, “I didn't text you that, Hyuck. I would never...”
There was a silence louder than any party on the other side of the phone. Just as disbelief filled his tone, hitting you with, “What?” a large bang sounded at the front door, a scream breaking past your lips as you flinched.
You checked the looks on the front door, ignoring your phone in your hand as you raced to the kitchen for a knife. You could hear Donghyuck screaming, calling your name, but you couldn’t focus. Just as you reached the kitchen, you caught a shadow at the back door.
Backing into the hall, you glanced around the room, debating what to do before running down  to the hall closet, fumbling through the dark to grab your dad’s baseball bat.
Putting your phone to your ear, you cut off Donghyuck’s worried words. “There’s someone here. I think they’re gonna break in.”
“Call the cops. I’m on the way.”
“Okay but-”
“I’ll be there right now. Just hide.”
You did what he said, ignoring the banging at the back door. Locking yourself in the bathroom, you tried to stop your shaking as you talked to the operator.
The nightmare worsened when they had trouble believing you, it being halloween after all. After sitting there arguing, they said they’d send a police car out to check up on you. They kept on talking to you, calming your nerves and telling you they’ll be there soon.
The worst sound you could ever hear when you were alone at home? A knock at the bathroom door.
“Leave me alone!” You yelled, phone long forgotten as you raised the baseball bat.
The knock came again, gentle. Just once. The doorknob rattled.
Breathing sharply, you tightened your grip, waiting for them to break down the door. You froze at fast footsteps, a thump, then scuffles. You went cold at Donghyuck’s voice, loud and angry.
Throwing the door open, he and the guy in the wolf mask were rolling around, trying to get the upper hand. A figure from the corner of your eye came rushing down the hall, so you swung as he neared.
The guy ducked just in time, reaching to grab you. Instead, he went for the bat, grip tight and stronger than yours. You held on with all your might, terrified as you looked into the clown mask.
“Stop! Stop, it’s me!” The wolf wheezed, your thoughts stilling as you looked down. Donghyuck had him in a headlock, the guy who you both knew tapping at his arm.
Distracted, the clown pulled the bat out of your hands and let it clatter to the floor.
“What the-” Donghyuck pushed off of him, eyes filling with rage as he pulled off the wolf mask- revealing Jeno’s flushed face. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
You turned to the clown, the mask halfway off and revealing Jaemin’s ashamed gaze.
“Are you guys crazy?” Your voice wobbled, Jeno letting his head fall back as he gasped for air.
“I was going to kill you, man,” Donghyuck’s voice was shaking, “Y/N just swung at Jaemin with a bat!”
“We didn’t think it would escalate like that!” Jaemin argued, “We were just trying to prank Y/N. We were about to show ourselves before you came tackling Jeno like a linebacker.”
“Uh, yeah, dumbass. I’m not just gonna let masked guys attack my girlfriend. You two have a death wish.”
You let them argue, grabbing your phone and apologizing over and over to the operator. You were scolded, told they should fine you for this, but let you off with a warning.
Helping Jeno up, you shoved him hard. “I should kick your ass, Jeno.”
He grimaced, holding his hands up. “You did say my costume was lame. I wanted to improve my pranking skills. So I recruited this dip shit.”
Your limbs were heavy as you led them to the living room, unsure if you should keep on being pissed or grateful that none of you accidentally killed each other.
“There’s a difference between a prank and attempted murder,” Donghyuck pursed his lips, but Jaemin threw an arm across his shoulder and rubbed his knuckles on top of his head.
“Aw, you guys can get us back next year,” He pouted, coughing when you and Donghyuck showed no signs of laughing.
“Assholes,” You uttered, sitting on the couch. Donghyuck sat beside you, arm going across the back of the couch as he searched your face.
Lowly, he asked, “You okay?”
“I’m alive. Considering if we should get new friends.”
“Hey! Come on now,” Jeno said, frowning like he was the one that just got traumatized.
“Out,” Donghyuck hooked his thumb toward the front door.
“But-”
Donghyuck cut him off. “We’ll see you tomorrow. If you don’t leave, I can’t say I won’t kick your ass.”
Jeno and Jaemin looked at each other, the former wringing his stupid wolf mask while Jaemin rubbed at his neck in embarrassment.
As Jeno passed you, he mouthed a sorry as they moved to the front door.
“Hey,” Donghyuck called out to them, “The text thing was not cool. At all. I really should knock you out for that.”
Jeno frowned. “What text thing?”
“Come on, don’t play stupid now.”
He looked over at Jaemin, who simply shrugged. “I’m serious. What text thing are you talking about?”
Donghyuck pursed his lips. “You texted me through Y/N’s phone, tricked me into thinking she broke up with me. Clever. That definitely worked.”
“But,” Jeno’s face grew with terror, “We didn’t text you.”
“Jeno, that’s enough,” You shook your head, “There’s no reason to lie now.”
“We didn’t! We only came in after Jaemin saw you run from the kitchen! We were just gonna stay outside but one of the windows in the back was open...”
Right as his words kicked in, the sound of glass striking the floor somewhere in the house made you all stiffen. Donghyuck took the lead, and you gripped the back of his shirt as Jeno and Jaemin trailed close behind.
The air was still, everyone silent as you raced to the source of the sound. You reached the room- the spare bedroom- and all stared down at what was once the flower pot tucked onto the windowsill.
The window was open, just like the boys said, curtains fluttering.
“Someone else was in here. Before any of us showed up.”
Everyone looked at you, horror dawning on all of you.
A/N: It’s officially spooky season!! I’m actually pretty excited to write stuff in the spirit of fall. Send in any requests, halloween related or not! Also, this is more of a oneshot than a drabble but let’s pretend it’s not. They won’t all be creepy, unless you want that. But yeah, hope you enjoyed!

daddy jaehyun
iii.xix. (a,m)
"Oh god, oh god, yes, yes, yes." Your back arched and Jaehyun ate you out like he had starved for days. Your orgasm came like a wave and your body vibrated. Your hands clawed at the sheets, while Jaehyun made you cum for as long as possible. He nibbled on your clit and penetrated you with his fingers. You almost fainted because the feeling was so violent. And when you came back to reality, he raised his head between your legs and smiled. His face shone with all your juice and he immediately reached for a tissue to clean his face. "Oh my god, that was ..." You were completely out of breath and your pulse was racing. "You earned that after the exam. You finally finished your semester." He smiled and hugged you. You had finally written the last and hardest exam in the morning and since Sunoh was making his nap and Miga was still in training, Jaehyun wanted to reward you for your hard work. "I’m happy to be finally back home again. The last weeks were pretty hard." You touch your belly and gently stroke it. Jaehyun looked briefly at his phone and checked his messages when he leaned over to you. "Look, Johnny sent me photos of the baby." You take his phone and swipe through the pictures. "Oh my god, he looks like Johnny. Does he already have a name?" You smile and keep looking at the screen. "No, they still call him Johnny junior. They can't agree on a name, meanwhile." Jaehyun picked up his phone and set it aside. "I bet they'll end up with the name." You laugh and turn to the side because your belly felt so heavy at this moment. "We should start looking for names too." He also put his hands on your stomach and stroked it. "Yes, I can't make up my mind right now. But sometimes I'm so looking forward to the two that I really want to have names." It wasn't a lie, because you'd love to fast-forward the pregnancy and hold your two in your hands right away. "I can hardly wait for the twins either and to become a big family soon. I thought I would miss the idol life, but I've been so incredibly happy since I spent the time with Miga, Sunoh and you." He looked deep into your eyes and you could see how serious he was. "I love our family so much too. It has always been my dream to have a big family, but I didn't think it would make me so happy." You look down on yourself and feel the twins move again. "I would give anything for them, even my life." You look up again and kiss Jaehyun. Your previous pregnancies were special, but carrying two babies inside you, was unique. "I would give everything for the children, but certainly everything for you." His forehead was on yours and you close your eyes briefly. Your fingers bandaged and you feel so much love at that moment. You were so grateful to Jaehyun for giving you everything you asked for. "I love you so much Y/N." His nose was now on yours and you could feel his breath so deep. "I love you so much Jaehyun." And at that moment you fall into an infinite kiss until you hear a babble. Slowly you separate from each other and you see how your son came into the bedroom. He had his favorite toy with him, but he still looked very sleepy and his hair stood in all directions. Jaehyun picked him up and kissed his cheek. "Hey boy, did you slept well?" He asked and his son giggled. "Yes," he said briefly, sitting on his father's lap. He starts playing with his toy and you had to laugh. "He looks so like you. The black hair, the dimples, the eyes, the mouth. Miga is a mix of us, but Sunoh is just a copy of you." You stroke your son's hair and you were so proud of your children how they grow. "Who knows, maybe it will develop as he grows." Jaehyun shrugged and kissed his son on his hair. "I'm excited to see who the twins will look like. I would also be happy if they got my eyes these times." You laugh and watch your son play. It was luck, it was love, it was perfect.
"And what is that?" Miga was sitting on your lap as you are getting ready for the evening on your dressing table. "This is lipstick." You take it in your hand and open it. The red color went well with your understated make-up. Only an eyeliner and a little mascara made up your look. "Can I wear it on my lips too?" Miga looks up at you and smiles. "Sweetie, your father won't be very happy if you have red lips." You stroke her long hair behind her shoulder and smile. "Mummy pleaseeeeeeee." She grinned and she just looked so cute that you can't resist her. "Pink suits you much better." You open another lipstick that was much subtle and put it on her lips. Miga looked in the mirror and was satisfied. In the end, you give yourself a little more blush and you also give Miga something on her cheeks so that she starts giggling. "Mummy, will I be so beautiful as you later?" She looked at you with big eyes when she saw you and you hold her tightly in your arms. "You are already the most beautiful girl in the world." You stroke her cheeks and look her in the eyes. She was the daughter of Jaehyun Jung, she could only be stunning. "Well my girls, are you done?" Jaehyun was standing at the door with Sunoh in his arms. "I think we can drive." You smile and take your daughter's hand to go to the car together. "You look beautiful." Jaehyun kissed you as you walk past him and you feel flattered. You were wearing a loose white blouse and a Chanel blazer that Jaehyun had given you as a present once. Otherwise, you just wear jeans and sneakers. Nobody could see your pregnancy, even though you already had a bigger stomach now, but the blouse was so good that it still looked like you had just gained a little weight. You still didn't want to publish the pregnancy because you both still enjoy the peace. That's why as few people as possible should know about it ... or as long as you can still hide it. "As I said, we are only 5 minutes by car away from campus. If something is wrong, call me. I will pick you up immediately." You hadn't told Jaehyun about Matthew. You were afraid that he would do something he regretted. Jaehyun only saw red in such situations and you think that so you will protect him better from himself. But you still asked him to stay close. Winwin just moved into a new apartment nearby, and Jaehyun decided to visit him with the kids until he picked you up. Jaehyun stopped in front of Eunbi's house and switched off the engine. "Do you think it's a good idea? I would love to stay with you." You look at Jaehyun and took your hand. "I'll do anything you want. If you want to come with us, then come with us, if not then not. I just don’t want you to miss something. I know our life will get a little bit harder with the twins and we will live even more for the children than for us. I just want to support you and be there for you." You smile and hesitate for a few seconds, but then you see Eunbi, who stood shyly in front of the entrance and looked uncertainly through the area. "Hmm I promised Eunbi. The cute angel is so shy." You sigh and look back. Sunoh was asleep and Miga looked out of the window. "Sometimes I think that's your mother-feelings." Jaehyun smiled and pulled your face towards him. "I love you and have fun." "I love you too." You enjoy his warm breath and kiss him again before you get out of the car.
The party was actually quite nice. You talk to a few people which whom you liked during your studies and Eunbi was able to find a connection with your help. But still, it was awkward for you. That was not your life and you miss your home and family. You were talking to a couple of students, so you looked at the clock and thought about how quickly you could get out of the party without being too early. You decide to call Jaehyun in about 20 minutes to pick you up. So you went meanwhile quickly into the kitchen and fill up a glass of water. You take a sip when you hear a familiar voice "Water? We passed the exam! Have a drink with us." Matthew came to you with a friend, who you didn’t know and you immediately became uncomfortable. "I don’t drink alcohol." Which was a lie, in general, you drink alcohol but not now because you were pregnant, which nobody here knew, except Eunbi. "Not even a shot?" Matthew grinned and it was that fake smile again that you didn't like. "No." You may sound stricter than you wanted, but you just wanted to get out of here. The two friends looked at each other and nodded, which you found somewhat strange. And when you wanted to go, Matthew came after you. "Hey Y/N, I wanted to apologize for the recent incident. It was not okay, I should never have said something like that. I'm sorry, I was stressed and I just thought you were so great...so beautiful." He looked briefly, quite obviously, at your breasts and then quickly back in your eyes. The whole thing was more scary than expected. How can you feel so threatened even when there were so many people around you? You thought you'd better be nice and friendly before he got crazy. "Is okay." You smile wrongly, but he looked satisfied. "Thank you, I'm so glad." He came up to you and hugged you. You try to stretch your stomach away from him, not only because you didn't want him to notice that you were pregnant, you didn't want him to get close to your babies. After this weird meeting, you go back to the other students and Eunbi. You drink your glass quickly and listen to how they talk about the exam. But after a while, you feel more and more sick, like you were drunk. Your phone vibrates and you get up to speak to Jaehyun. But you realize that you got worse and worse, everything started to spin and something was wrong. "Y/N, is everything okay?" You hear his voice, but your field of vision grew darker. "Jaehyun, I don't know. Something is not right." You lean against the wall because you could hardly keep yourself upright. "What happened?" He was getting more and more panicky now and you're slowly dragging yourself out. "I ... Jaehyun ... I'm so dizzy." It became more and more difficult for you to speak and you could hardly hold your phone anymore. And suddenly you feel how someone supports you. You can hardly react anymore and you just didn't know what happened to you. Anyone could do anything with you and the only thing that was in your head was your twins. "Y/N what happened?" It was Eunbi's voice and then your body collapsed on the meadow in front of the building. You could hardly see anything anymore and it felt like you were blind. "Y/N. Did someone put something in your drink?" You hear the girl say something, but you were out of your senses. "Just water...my babies...I have to protect them." You collapse and you just want to go to sleep. "Oh no! The twins! Y/N, you are not allowed to sleep, stay awake for your babies." Eunbi was panicked, but she was doing something that she considered best at that moment. She stuck your finger in your neck and made you vomit. You could hardly do anything anyway. You don't even fight back. Eunbin did her best and tried to empty your entire stomach. At that moment she sees how suddenly car headlights came closer and a car stopped. The door opened and Jaehyun immediately ran to you. "Shit! What happened?" He immediately lifted you up with Eunbi. "I think someone gave her something in her drink. It looks a lot like a date rape drug." Eunbi helped Jaehyun put your body in the car and she try to keep you awake while Jaehyun was driving. "We're driving to the hospital. There should be one right away." Jaehyun drove faster and faster. It was almost dangerous as he knew no borders. But he didn't care, he had to get you to the hospital as soon as possible. During the drive, Eunbi tries to talk to you. "The babies .... Jaehyun ..." you whisper and fall asleep more and more. "I can't keep her awake anymore. She's passed out." Eunbi was desperate, she really wanted to help you. "We're almost there." Jaehyun drove to the hospital, stopped right there and opened the back door to pull you out. He ran to the emergency room, where a team approached him.

One day in the simple life of Jack Daniels.
This is the next installment in what I'm calling the Springville AU. You can read the first part here but basically John and Olivia move to the countryside with new identities post tfatws. This was written before the finale so nothing that happens there affect this fic. As always like comment and share if you want more people to read it. Hope you enjoy :)
John and Olivia woke up with the alarm clock at 7am. Olivia was the one to turn it off because it was at her side of the room. She sat in the bed and stretched without opening her eyes entirely quite yet. John's big hands crossed her back and neck swiftly. Olivia has no choice besides falling back into bed.
"Good morning." John whispered right next to her ear.
"Waking up in a good mood?"
"It's been a while huh?"
They both laughed.
"Stay here." John pleaded.
Olivia smiled and pressed herself against John before letting go and getting up for once.
"You know I can't. Otherwise how are the kids going to understand Romeo and Juliet?"
"That's the play of the week?"
"Of the month!" Olivia laughed "There's no way they could read all those pages in seven days."
"If they attended to school on our days they would be obliterated."
"Okay boomer." Olivia shrugged.
"What?"
"The kids taught me that."
"What does it mean?" John was embarrassed but curious.
"Well, I guess you'll have to Google it to find out."
Olivia left the room with a proud smile on her face before John could say anything else. He laid his head again and took a deep breath. I love this woman, he muttered to himself before getting up.
Their house was small. Without the veteran benefits and Olivia's paycheck there wasn't anything fancy they could afford. Still, the house was cozy enough. And the thermoregulator worked out just fine, most of the time.
While Olivia was taking a shower John started preparing breakfast like the usually did. That way Olivia could get at school on time. He put the bread in the toaster and broke four eggs, two for each of them. They used to have bacon as well, but not on those trying times. Thinking about it made John angry. He was the only person to receive three medals of honor for his services in all american history. Yet there he was not having bacon for breakfast because it was too damn expansive.
The toaster sound interrupted his thoughts before they could get any worse, but the handle of the pan still got a little crooked because of the strength John applied on it unconsciously. It has been a couple months since he got the serum but sometimes it was still hard to control his own strength.
At least it was just a pan this time. Couples weeks prior he grabbed Olivia way too hard during sex. She warned him before any damage could be done but since then John has been extra cautious around her. Every little thing in his routine was a reminder he took the serum. A reminder he couldn't save Lemar. A reminder he was not the hero they wanted him to be. It's all so unfair, he said out loud without realizing it.
"What is unfair Johnny?" Olivia came from their room all dressed up already. Her shirt was red and her scarf was brown. The overall was by the door, near the photographs they kept from their previous lives.
"What? Oh nothing! I was just... thinking out loud."
While Olivia was distracted getting the breads, John untwisted the handle of the fan. He then served her the eggs.
"Those look good! But what were you thinking about?"
"About how pretty my wife is!" John sat by the small table.
Olivia's smile was short. She quickly shifted to a serious and worried face.
"You can talk to me John. In fact, you have to." She was kind but firm.
John took a deep breath, "I know, I'm sorry. it's unfair how it all turned out. I did my best, you know I did-"
"I know that!" Olivia reassured.
"...and still it wasn't enough for them. They don't know what it takes to be a hero, Olivia."
"That's all in the past. We are different people now. Okay, Jack?" She winked at him.
"Oh yeah! That's right Maria!"
They both laughed.
"You're the real hero here." John said, "Thank you for staying on my side."
Olivia smiled from ear to ear and they both finished their breakfast in a good tone. When Olivia got up John walked with her. She entered their car and John stayed at the door while she drove away. The air was cold and the snow was still shy, but not for long.
There was nothing on their front yard except grass. There was a rod on the wall near the door but there was not flag on it. When they moved in John tored the flag to shreds. Afterwards they made a fire with it. It was really cathartic.
John breathed the cold air one last time before getting in and closing the door. He took a cold shower (the only one he knew how to take) and did the dishes from last night. With Olivia working at the school he was responsable for most house chores. He didn't like the idea of being alone the whole day at the beginning, but he had to get used to it eventually. Someone had to work and John's set of military skills proved to be quite useless in the countryside small town they scaped to.
He tried construction for a while but he would twist metals and break woods with his bare hands more often then he would like to admit. Besides even though he had a thick beard now he was still scared someone would recognize him. Recognize Captain America.
He left the job, he and Olivia had a big fight that night. In the midst of his own shame and self loathe though John figured there was indeed something he was good at: welding. And with his super strength it was even easier to handle the right tools. John worked the whole night and by the morning when Olivia woke up she met John sleeping in the spare room (the one for the kid they never had) with a heart shaped welding sculpture on his arms. Since that night John has found a new passion and income. The word spread fast that Jack Daniels, the newcomer, was a really skilled artist. He started doing pieces by demand.
***
After the shower John dressed casual clothes and went to his work room. There were still some leftovers from last night so he could work a little more instead of cooking lunch. The heart sculpture was on the wall right next to the clock. John worked until 1 pm. After lunch he did some laundry before someone knocked at the door.
"Are you Mr Daniels?" The old man asked.
"Just call me Jack, please. How can I help you sir?"
"Oh nothing special!" he made effort to talk "My boy is coming back from his first tour and I wanted to give him something y'know 'to thank him for his service', as they say."
John's face went completely blank while the man got a cellphone from his pocket to show a reference photo of what he wanted: a worm carrying a bazooka.
"First tour, you say..?" John's voice cracked.
"Yes, he went to Afghanistan!"
John swallowed and blinked more times then he should. The cold breeze from outside made his bones shiver but he stayed still as if he was actually frozen. Not by the cold though but by his own memories. After what seemed like an eternity's the old man spoke again.
"Are you okay Mr Daniels?"
"Jack!" John blinked, "Call me Jack. And please get in it's super cold outside! What's your name again?"
"It's David!"
John offered a cup of coffee to the old man and took him to his work room. David looked at all of John's previous works fascinated.
"You really know your way around welding. When did you start with it?"
"My father taught me. It was the last thing he taught me in fact."
"Oh I'm sorry."
"Don't be." John smiled politely "That was a lifetime ago."
Speaking about his life before Springville was starting to feel weird. John Walker was starting to feel like a whole different person. And Captain America was somehow an even older memory. John used to spend his days surrounded by men and women in unforms. They spoke loud and smiled bright. Jack on the other hand spends his days welting metal around and taking care of the house.
The change was abrupt but John was getting used to it. Now he wonders if forgetting his old life isn't actually a good thing. Maybe that was the problem in the first place. In Springville John gets to spend time home with his wife. John gets to wake up late if so he pleases. John gets to breath for once.
David and John talked for a while to set prices and sizes and deadlines. Once they were finished John walked David out. When the old man finally left John sighed really loud and pressed his head softly against the door. He had being holding that breath even since David entered the house.
John was done with the military (or rather the military were done with him) and even though he had some peace at his new home the world outside was still spinning. And young boys with no perspective were still being sent to fight someone else's wars. John used to take such proud of his service. How could he?
***
When Olivia got home from work John was at his room. The work was a good distraction.
"A lot of work?" Olivia leaned at the door.
"Hi, babe. Yeah an old man came here earlier. Requested a piece for his son."
"That's great! What did he order?"
"A video game thing. His son.... He's coming back, y'know.. from his first tour. They sent him to Afghanistan."
"Oh my gosh John." She got closer to him, "How are you feeling?"
John just shrugged, "Do you mind making dinner tonight? I'm kind of busy here." That was code for 'I don't wanna talk right now'.
"Yeah, of course. I'll let you work."
Olivia kissed her husband and left to take a shower. Dinner was served at seven. They both sat at the small table while the television showed the news. When Captain America Sam Wilson showed up Olivia quickly grabbed the remote to change channels, but John slightly hold her hand.
"Leave it." He said. And she did.
Sam was visiting a highschool. The kids were all really excited to meet him personally. There were lots of selfies and lots of laughter. Sam was simply the life of any party he was in.
"He's a hero." John said.
"He really is." Olivia agreed, carefully studying John's face.
He looked at the television for a while before getting back to his dinner. A good hero, he repeated to himself as an effort to let that sink. Olivia touched his hand kind of worried.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes, yes I'm alright, Olivia." He smiled to make her feel better, "I've been thinking. Sam is with them, but he's them. He can inspire kids without making them do the same mistakes I did."
"It's a good way of looking at it, John."
"Thanks. I was the hero they asked for but maybe wasn't the hero they-" he pointed at the kids on the TV, "...the hero they need."
Olivia smiled and grabbed John's hand. "I'm really proud of you."
"I'm proud of us!" John replied, their fingers intertwined.
They finished dinner and went to sleep. Tomorrow would be another day in simple life of Jack and Maria Daniels. And they were both really greatful for it.

Johnny’s summer job ch3
Johnny hardly slept that morning. For one reason the time was new for him to sleep since he had the night shift and the other reason he couldn’t let go of the Conversation he herd between his boss and Sammy. “Tell them you haven’t seen the child. Then come get me.” William had told Sammy. What child though? And why? What for? What was going on?
He got an answer to one of his questions later that night at dinner, from his uncle. “Another child went missing.” He told Johnny as he finished a bite.
Johnnys eyes widen from the terrible news. “Really? Who was it and where this time?”
His uncle sipped his coffee and sighed. “It was the neighbors kid, Nicole. She went missing near the playground.” He replied. “Listen Johnny. I want you to be very careful. The police is starting to suspect someone has taken this kids.”
Johnny nodded, understandable“ I will uncle.”
The rest of their dinner went by in silence. Sadness for all this missing children around. Johnny felt bad for the parents of these kids who didn’t know were there baby’s were. He felt bad for the kids to. Who knew what was happening to them. But then he remembered the Conversation his boss and Sammy had last night. The shame and gilt is Sammy’s voice he herd. It scared him to think they’d be the ones doing this. He hoped it wasn’t true. But he had to know. He was going to investing the place tonight right after asking Lacie about it first.
Once he got to work later that night, he saw Sammy at the prize corner, restocking more prizes on the shelves. Johnny wondered if he should go up and talk to him. Maybe he’d get a few clues from him. Or maybe he’ll figure out he was on to him and William if he did go up and question him. He doesn’t want that. He needed to find Lacie to plan something out.
Sammy must of got the feeling of being watched because he looked back at Johnny’s way. Johnny quickly looked away from him and started walking away, like he knew nothing. He hoped Sammy didn’t see him watching.
After putting his Belongings in his locker he went to find Lacie in the back. She was sitting on a stole in the corner, reading over today’s task. “Oh hey. Good you here.” She said looking over at Johnny. She was of sense something off Joey or something because she looked at him strangely. “What’s wrong. Did something happen?”
Johnny walked over to her while nodding. “Yea. Did you here about the kid that just went missing?”
“This morning?” She ask him. “Yea I did. That’s so sad.” She shook her head in sadness. “She’s the fifth one to. Wonder who’s taking them.” She stated staring down at the ground.
“Lacie...I-I- think I have reasons to believe that it was William and Sammy.” Johnny admits.
Lacies gaze snapped at him from the floor in shook. “Why? What on earth make you come up with that idea!?” She asked.
“Because I over herd some of there Conversation last night!” Johnny replied. “William told Sammy to tell the police that he didn’t see anything and to report to him after. Plus that red stuff that did look like blood
Lacie rolls her eyes at this. “Johnny. Listen to your self. That’s insane!” She said with pity. “Why would they kill when they work here? How would they manage to kill five kids without being caught?” Poor Lacie couldn’t see William or Sammy hurting people.
“God. Your both are to loud with this.” Said a voice from the door way. They both jumped up and look over at the figure.
It was Sammy Lawrence. He was leaning on the door,watching them. Johnny wondered how long he’s been there and how much he’d over herd. Johnny just started back with suspicion in his eyes. “Why are you here Sammy?”
Sammy looked at Johnny’s face then down at the ground. “I’m here to warn you to shut your mouth shuts while your here.” He replied. “You don’t want the boss to hear you. That won’t be good.”
Johnny rolls his eyes. “You herd us. Your obviously going to tell him! Since you chose to work with him on killing these kids!” He spat.
Johnny could tell that one stung him, a lot more then he intended it to be. Sammy looked down again at the floor for a long moment, then turned away and started to leave, only stopping a few steps away and turn to face Johnny. “If you wanna know everything, meet me under the bridge by the park tomorrow at noon.” With that he left the room.
Johnny and Lacie looked at each other for a long moment before Lacie came up with a plan. “Ok. Don’t talk about any of this. If this stuff is true I don’t want to get William on the fact that we know. We’re talk about this after work.” She exclaimed. Johnny nodded. Pretty soon they began doing their task quickly and quietly while both unnoticeable watch William when he’s around.
All night they have disgusted about the meeting spot and how it could be a trap for them. Lacie still didn’t fully believe Sammy and William were killers but Johnny pointed out that there was lots of evidenced to point towards that and so she’s decided to go to the bridge with Johnny.
They came to a stop on their bikes once they arrived at the park and got off, walking their bikes down under the bridge, where Sammy was waiting for them. “Well. We’re here sam.” Lacie said. “What is it you wanna say.”
Sammy stood up from his spot and digs in his backpack, pulling out a few pieces of paper and handed them to Lacie and Johnny. “First look at these..
Johnny and Lacie looked at each other for a minute before looking at the pieces of paper together. One was a missing persons paper with a photo of a slightly Younger Sammy. The information they read there stated that he went missing last year. They next one they flipped thew was an newspaper article saying the details of what happened before he disappear.
“What does this mean?...” Johnny ask as Lacie was reading still.
“It means I’m kidnaped.” Sammy answered. He was trying and failing to stay confident. “It means I want to go back to my friends...” he looked between Lacie and Johnny. “It means I’m on your side.” He said with a bit more strength.
Lacie looked up at him in shocked. “He kidnaped you?...how?”
Sammy sighs thinking about his pass. “...well....my parents never took care me. So for most of my childhood William took care of me when I went to Freddy’s.” He replied. “Feed me...taught me how to take of myself.....but ...once I turn 16 and found out he was a murderer he brainwashed me to becoming the same....” Sammy looked down sadly. “It worked for a while....then one day I realized what I was doing...but I couldn’t do anything to stop him...I was to scared...am to scared...” Sammy’s words drift away for a bit before he continued. “Once my friends found out they tried help me...but William made us burn that Freddy’s and left before the cops came...
Johnny felt bad for Sammy for going though all this and having to kill. But he still had questions on if this was true, why tell us and what can we do to help. Lacie must of had the same questions as him as well from her actually asking the questions. “How do we know your telling the truth?”
Sammy immediately began digging in his bag again for a second and this time he pulled out a VHS tape and handed it to Johnny. “Evidence . You can do one of two things with it. You can give it to the police department and and their arrest William and possibly me. But that won’t save them-“
“Them?” Johnny interrupted. “Who’s them?”
Sammy turned to Johnny to reply. “Them. The kids. There not alive anymore by our definition. But there still here.”
“Like ghost?!” This time it was Lacie who interrupted him.
Sammy nodded patiently. “Exactly like ghost!” He replied. “And that’s apart of option two set the place and robots on fire to free them and kill William and...me..”
“Why kill you?..” Johnny said sadly.
Lacie answered him for Sammy. “Because he also killed them. Ya it wasn’t his choice but the soul are mad.”
Sammy nodded at her answer as Johnny looked at him sadly. “What about your friends.?”
Sammy frowns. “It’s best if I don’t meet them again...I’m not the same person..” he cleared his throat. “Anyways. That’s all I needed to say. Please save them and Good luck.” With that he ran off, leaving Johnny and Lacie to think.
“Alright...” Lacie started. “My house is Intime right now so let’s go to my house, watch the VHS and come up with a plan.” Johnny nodded then they started walking down to their bikes.
Once they got to Lacies house they headed inside the living room, with the VHS, and popped it in. They both sat side by side as the tape began. The tape showed a camera that viewed the employees only hallway. It was empty at first but quickly the door below the camera swings open and William and Sammy was dragging in a child that was tied up. Johnny noticed it was the first girl that went missing, little Amy. The VHS switched to another camera angle as the two dragged her into a room and chained her. The footage showed William experimenting on her as Sammy sat in the corner wanting nothing to do with it.
It went on five minutes before the tape finished and stopped. Lacie and Johnny couldn’t stop watching the TV. They sat still for a very long time, disturbed by what they just seen.
After what seems like hours Johnny finally spoke. “W-what do we do, Lacie?...” he turned to face her way.
Lacie turned to face Johnny back. “He kill William...we save the children ...and we free Sammy.”
They spend up until there shift, coming up with a plan for these two goals they have. The last two was easy because once William was dead they both get free. The first goal was the hardest. They had to come up with a way to trap William so they can kill him. The only problem was the killing part. Could these two actually do it?..
Later that night was when the plan was set in motion. The two didn’t go into work on time instead they waited for an hour before sneaking in the back of Freddy’s. “Got the stuff?” Lacie ask Johnny. Johnny nodded. “Good. Let’s do this.”
They went to Williams office, careful not to be spotted and Sneaks in. Lacie stood at the door on guard as Johnny poured a sleepy drug in Williams mug of coffee. Now was the waiting part. Which they waited in a janitor closet. The waited there for hours before peaking out. They both saw Sammy walking down the hall. “There you guys are.” Sammy said walking to them. “Whatever you did I think it worked. He’s passed out in his office.”
“Good.” Lacie replied. “Wanna help us?” Sammy nodded without hesitation.
William slowly work up from in i’m comfortable sleep. He was dazed at first but became aware quickly. He looked around and was furious when he found out he was chained up on the same table he killed on. “What the fuck?!” He yelled. “Who fucking did this!!”
“I did” Johnny replied walking in his Field of vision.
“As did I” Lacie followed Johnny.
“And I help...” Sammy followed Lacie.
William was Beyond pissed for this. “ I gave you jobs!!! And Sammy I gave you a home!” He screams.
Sammy shook his head no. “No. You turned me into a monster! And I see you doing the same to your own kids.” Sammy replied. “No more. No more kids to brainwashed and no more kids to kill!” Sammy looked at Lacie and Johnny. “Whenever your ready” Lacie and Johnny nodded as Sammy stepped back.
Lacie grabbed a bottle of gasoline and started pouring it on William after shoving a cloth in his mouth. As Johnny watched her he started to feel presents appear in the room with him. He looked tours his left to the five kids that were murdered here. One of them- his neighbor- smiled and waved at him. He waved back at her and smiled. He was glad he was helping them. He always wanted to help people like his parents. Now he was doing just that
Lacie pulled out the matches. “Want to do the honors Johnny.”
Johnny nodded. “Yes I do.”
Johnny took the matches and ran one on the box, lighting it, then he threw it on William where he quickly ingulf in flames. Johnny, Lacie and Sammy stood side by side watching him burn. His skin turning rotting black and oozing. His screams turning bloody and soon stopping all together. He laid there unmoving.
Soon they had to get outside from the fire spreading. They stood there for hours watch the building burning even when the fire department showed up. Johnny was happy seeing each soul freed after there robots was completely burned. One after the other until they were all free.
—-
The following weeks go on and the three of them have been under investigation. The police couldn’t find any prof of there involvement so they eventually are let off the hook. Johnny and Lacie had become friends and hang out daily. Sammy had went back to his his other friends for the time being. He texts and calls them every few days. Johnny noticed how happy he was now with his friends. He was glad he helped him to.
The towns people soon got the closure needed. The police had found the five body’s and each family had a funeral for there child. Johnny road by each one and wish the kid luck in the after life.

Should’ve Said Yes (3/4)
part one   part two   on ao3
They made it through breakfast through sheer force of will and the carefully practiced art of pretending the man next to them wasn’t crumbling before their eyes. They’d learned quick in the service that sometimes you just had to ignore what was right in front of you. There wasn’t enough privacy for people to break down in peace so you had to give your fellow soldier what grace you could.
Jeri and Johnny kept up an innocuous conversation as they cooked, ate, and then cleaned but they alternated between shooting Alex worried glances and sending questioning looks Whitty’s way.
Alex didn’t notice. He picked at his food and mumbled responses when asked a question. Nothing more. The second his plate was scooped up he fled out to the back deck with his coffee.
“Okay,” Jeri sat down. “What the fuck?”
“He and Michael got into it last night. He wouldn’t tell me any details except that Michael wants him to keep his distance.”
Johnny cursed. “What happened with those two? They were solid. I mean, they weren’t perfect by any stretch, but they were solid. And then one day Michael was gone and he didn’t come back.”
Whitty shrugged. Alex had only told him under duress, he wasn’t going to betray that by telling them. “From what I can tell, whatever happened, it wasn’t amicable.”
Jeri shook her head, her eyes fixed on Alex’s slumped form through the window. “It’s more than that. They were fine yesterday. And of everyone in the world, Alex told Michael where he was going and when he was expecting to be back. He didn’t call us, he didn’t tell Patrick, he told Michael. Which means they’ve been on good enough terms lately. Whatever this is is new.”
The two men mulled over her words quietly.
“What are we supposed to do?” Whitty asked, a tinge of frustration slipping into his voice. He hated not being able to help his friends, his family really, but emotional drama was not his forte.
“I’m not sure there’s anything we can do,” Jeri finally looked at him. “If Alex doesn’t want to tell us what’s happening, it’s not our place to interject ourselves in their relationship.”
Johnny yanked open the door and stepped out onto the deck, ignoring Jeri and Whitty’s protests, leaving the door wide open behind him. “We have two days before we have to leave,” he pronounced, his hands on his hips. “What the fuck is there to do in Roswell?”
Alex turned his head slowly. “Not a whole lot,” he sounded vaguely apologetic. “There’s a reason I left, you know.”
It was quiet for a moment as the other three bit their tongues to stop themselves from pointing out that there was a reason he came back, too. Alex had his pick of locations for his final postings. He chose to come back here. And they all knew why.
“Then we’ll have to find ways to entertain ourselves,” Johnny looked at them through the open doorway. “Adams Special?”
Whitty groaned as a slow grin spread over Jeri’s face. Outside, Alex laughed brightly, briefly. One sharp note of glee. “Yes.” He saluted Johnny with his coffee. “I’m picking the movie.”
“I’ll grab the food,” Jeri offered.
“Food or food?” Whitty asked.
She rolled her eyes. “Food.”
“Well then I’ll get the rest of the food,” Whitty decided. “Wait. No.” In unison, all three looked to Johnny with horror as he started to laugh. “I’ve got the booze, Johnny gets the rest.”
“No, no, no,” Johnny protested. “Let me pick up the drinks.”
“No!” They all laughed as three voices rang out. The upside of Johnny never drinking was that they had a permanent designated driver, which came in handy more than a few times, but the downside was that the man had absolutely no idea what was good alcohol and what was utter shit. When he went shopping for drinks he always bought the cheapest items in the store and, for some godforsaken reason, the fruitiest options available.
Needless to say, Johnny was banned from buying the drinks. Forever.
“Tonight?” Alex asked. “I have some work I need to do today.”
“Works for us,” Whitty conferred with the other two. They nodded and he pushed himself to his feet to join the other two men on the deck. “Now. This is the alien capital of the world, right? Where’s all the good alien stuff?”
Alex tensed nearly imperceptibly. “Walk around, follow the signs. It’s our only tourist attraction, you cannot miss it. There’s a shitty little museum you can walk through. It takes about four minutes.”
“Please tell me there are fake aliens we can take obnoxious photos with?” Jeri poked her head around the door frame.
“Of course,” Alex nodded somberly. “It wouldn’t be a tacky tourist museum without photo opportunities.”
“Excellent.” Jeri jerked her head at the other two. “We’re going.” She disappeared back into the house.
Alex waved at them. “Have fun. Like I said, I have some work to do.”
Johnny paused for a second before going inside, squeezing Alex’s shoulder gently as he passed him.
“1800?” Alex nodded. “Do you-”
“I don’t want to talk about it,” Alex cut him off. “I really don’t Whitty. Please don’t ask.”
It was the please that did it. Whitty held his hands up. “Okay. But you know-”
“I know.” He jerked his head. “Now go play tourist.”
“We’ll see you later.”
Alex didn’t answer as he left and he didn’t come inside as they got ready and left. He didn’t even acknowledge them as they drove down the long driveway.
“Okay,” Jeri leaned forward from the backseat as soon as Alex’s cabin was out of sight. “Plan B? If the Adams Special doesn’t help?”
Whitty was already pulling his phone out and shifting in his seat to set it on the console between them. “Plan B is more like Plan P.”
Johnny glanced at him briefly, a question in his eyes. “What?” Jeri asked out loud.
Whitty didn’t say anything as he pulled up his contacts and hit Call.
“Is someone dead?” The man on the other end answered gruffly. Jeri laughed.
“Patrick Scott!” She greeted happily.
“Well, shit, is that Jeri?”
“It is,” she confirmed. “How are you? It’s been a minute.”
“That it has. I’ve been good. Settling into civilian life, you know.”
“Yeah, that’s great,” Whitty cut Jeri off before she could reply. It earned him a glare but he didn’t care. “It’s about Alex.”
“What about Alex?” All levity was gone from Patrick’s voice.
“We’re in Roswell,” Johnny piped up. “This is Johnny Walker, by the way.”
“Hey, Walker,” Patrick greeted. “What the hell are you three doing in Roswell?”
“Alex was out of touch for almost two weeks. We got worried.”
“Did you not call Michael?”
The car was silent. Until- “We tried but Whitty kept shooting us down,” Jeri spilled.
A heavy sigh. “Don’t,” Whitty bit out. He and Patrick had been friends once, until Alex and Michael broke up unexpectedly and Whitty had unequivocally chosen Alex’s side. Patrick hadn’t approved of that and they’d had a few choice words over how to be a good friend. It hadn’t been pretty. “Alex is fine, physically. But he and Michael got into it last night, we think, and now Alex is-” he didn’t want to insult the man when he was down but-
“Remember how he was right before our last deployment?” Johnny asked, his eyes on the road as he turned towards town.
“Shit.” Patrick cursed lowly. Alex had been relatively okay right after their breakup, all things considered. It was only when they got their orders that he really lost it. For weeks, it was like there was no one home. He went to work and did his job but he wasn’t Alex. “What happened?”
“We don’t know,” Jeri told him. “They were fine last night when we were all out at the bar together. The three of us called it a night and we thought Alex was right behind us but he got home over an hour later and he-”
“He wasn’t good,” Whitty finished. “He said that Michael told him to stay away and that he agreed with him.”
Patrick was silent. “You’re on your way to talk to Michael right now, aren’t you?” The three in the car exchanged guilty glances. They hadn’t exactly talked about it but Johnny was heading out to the scrapyard Michael lived at and the other two hadn’t voiced any objections. Patrick groaned. “Don’t make this worse, you guys. Stay out of it.”
Jeri shook her head. “If you were here, you wouldn’t.”
“Okay, fine, probably not,” Patrick agreed. “But neither one of them is gonna like you butting into their shit.”
“Look, I called you for a reason,” Whitty sighed. “You’re not here and we are so tell us what you would do if you were.”
“I’m gonna regret this,” Patrick whispered. He cleared his throat. “Talk to Michael. He’s less likely to tell you to fuck off, but for the love of God, do not push him. When he’s done talking, back off. And just, if you can, try and get them to talk to each other.” He paused. “I’m not telling you to lock them in a room together because that would end horribly for everyone but if you can get them in the same place for a while and make them talk, that would be good. I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed but they have this really weird habit of talking to each other without actually communicating? It’s like they’re having two different conversations at the same time and they never realize it.”
“Yeah, I’ve noticed that,” Johnny mused. The other two nodded.
“I’m staying out of this until one of them calls me,” Patrick told them. “But good luck.”
“Thanks, Scott,” Johnny turned into the scrapyard. “We’ll have to talk to you later.”
“Try not to unless you royally fuck up,” he warned. “And please, don’t fuck them up more than they already are.”
“We’ll do our very best,” Jeri assured him as Johnny pulled to a stop next to a red Chevy.
“That’s not as reassuring as you probably meant it to be.” Patrick hung up on them and Whitty tucked the phone away as they all got out of the car.
“Hey,” a woman’s voice greeted. They turned to see Maria DeLuca stepping down from the Airstream. “Good morning.” She smiled.
“Morning!” Jeri returned with a wave as Johnny nodded. Whitty just shoved his hands in his pockets.
“Michael here?”
Maria’s jaw clenched as she looked at him. “He’s over in the bay,” she nodded to a covered area off to the side. “He started work a few hours ago.”
He tossed a ‘thanks’ over his shoulder as he stalked off in the direction she pointed in. The glare of the sun made it hard to see into the shaded bay so he had to trust that she wasn’t bullshitting him as he walked into the shade.
“Whitty,” Michael greeted guardedly. He glanced up briefly before focusing back on his work.
“Michael,” Whitty was suddenly nervous. He’d offered a half assed apology at the bar last night but he knew it didn’t make up for the years of being a dick. “I, uh, I wanted to talk to you.”
Michael didn’t look up. “About what?”
“I’m sorry.”
“You already apologized.”
Whitty shifted his feet and glanced over his shoulder. The other two had stalled in front of Michael’s trailer, making small talk with Maria. “I know. But it’s not enough. I was an ass. For three years. And you didn’t deserve it.” Michael’s hands stilled. “I’m sorry, Michael. I should have talked to you, reached out after-” He cleared his throat. “We were friends and I shit all over that because of a misunderstanding that I didn’t bother to correct and I’m sorry. You didn’t deserve that.”
Now Michael looked up. “Thank you. I could have made an effort, too,” he acknowledged. “You all were my friends and I just- I don’t know, I just assumed Alex got you all in the breakup, I guess.”
Whitty chuckled. “You couldn’t even fight for joint custody?” Michael smiled weakly. “But that would have required talking to him, wouldn’t it have?” Michael’s eyes hardened but Whitty ignored it. “What happened? For three years I’ve had to make up scenarios that ended with you two just fucking shattering overnight and nothing, nothing, came close to what Alex told me last night. I just- I don’t understand.”
“You don’t need to,” Michael turned away.
“That’s true,” he acknowledged. “But I want to. My friends are hurting, have been hurting for years, and I don’t know why.”
Michael looked up and past him. Whitty turned to see Maria watching them carefully. “Do you love her?” He asked softly.
“Yes,” Michael answered immediately. And Whitty believed him. “I think I could easily spend the rest of my life with her. It’s so- we’re so- he shook his head. “It’s easy. Comfortable. It’s really nice. It’s what love is supposed to be, right?”
He walked deeper into the bay and hopped up onto a counter, his feet dangling just off of the ground. “I wouldn’t know. I’ve never really been in love.” Maria had turned her attention back to whatever Jeri was saying, her hands gesturing wildly, but Michael hadn’t looked away. “But from what I hear? It depends on what you want. Some people say that love and relationships should be calming, should be soothing and comfortable. But others say that if the other person doesn’t make your heart beat faster, then what’s the point? Those people say that love should make everything more.”
Michael looked at him, an eyebrow already raised. Whitty rolled his eyes. “There’s nothing wrong with romcoms, dude.” Michael laughed and Whitty joined in. “But honestly, Michael? Love should be whatever you want it to be. Do you want comfortable and easy? Or do you want something more?”
“I asked Alex to marry me,” Michael admitted quietly after a long silence. “He said no.”
“And then?” Whitty prompted when he trailed off.
“And then I left. He’d turned me down. We were done.”
Whitty raised an eyebrow. “Did he say that?”
“He didn’t have to,” Michael scoffed. “If he didn’t want to marry me, what was the point of our relationship?”
“Were you only dating him as a precursor to marriage?” He felt his forehead wrinkle as his eyes narrowed. “Or were you dating him because you loved him?”
“Of course I was dating him because I loved him,” Michael glared at him for the question. “But if he didn’t see us moving forward, being together forever, better to leave then than stick around longer and have it hurt more when he was finally done with me.”
Whitty was so unqualified for this conversation it wasn’t funny. He ached to call Patrick back and let him deal with this. “I realize that I don’t know the complexities of your relationship with Alex,” he started slowly. “But I like to think I know Alex pretty well, after everything we’ve been through, and I can tell you, without a doubt, that Alex would never be done with you. Maybe he doesn’t ever want to get married, maybe he didn’t want to get married then, I don’t know. But he wasn’t done with you. I mean, Alex literally had his pick of any location in the world to finish up his service and he chose Roswell. And I doubt it was because he missed the desert.” Whitty chose his next words carefully. “After- it was like he wasn’t Alex. He was there, but part of him, part of what made him him, was gone. And, as far as I can tell, he still hasn’t gotten it back.” He stared at Michael’s back, the muscles tensing under his shirt as Michael gripped the edge of the table hard. “He loves you. That’s a fact of life, honestly. And you love him.” He stopped to give Michael a chance to object but the man stayed silent. “What that means for you two? I don’t know. But I think? That you two need to sit down and figure that out. Whatever it is you’re doing now isn’t working. You’re both miserable.”
“I love Maria,” Michael insisted softly.
“No one ever said you didn’t.”
Michael shook his head. “I love her.”
“Michael,” Whitty said quietly. He waited until Michael looked at him. “If Alex and Maria were trapped in a burning building and you only had time to get to one, who would you go to?” Michael looked away.
“Hey,” Jeri called before Whitty could say anything else. He looked over to see the three of them ambling over.
“I’m meeting Liz for lunch,” Maria announced. “So I’m going to head out. Do you want me to bring you back anything?” She asked Michael as she walked over to him, her hand going straight to his hip as she stepped into his personal space. Michael didn’t pull away and he didn’t tense up but there was something there, Whitty could tell. So could Maria if the way she stepped back was any indication.
Michael shook his head. “I’ve got food in the Airstream,” he jerked his head at the trailer.
“Okay,” Maria dragged out. “I’ll see you tonight?”
Michael nodded jerkily and pecked her on the lips. Maria eyed him worriedly as she bid the others farewell. Whitty watched her walk to her car, curious glances tossed over her shoulder every few steps.
“So,” Johnny drawled after she left.
“Look,” Michael rubbed at his forehead. “It’s really nice that you guys stopped by but I do have to work.”
“Yeah, of course,” Jeri assured him. “We just wanted to say hi since we were close by.” She glanced in the direction of their cars. “Maria’s nice.”
“Yeah, she is.”
“We’re in town until early Monday,” Johnny told him. “You busy tomorrow?”
“I have plans at my sister’s,” Michael was clearly apologetic. “Standing appointment kind of thing. How about tonight?” They all paused. Michael was really the only one outside their unit to really understand and appreciate the Adams Special but- “Right. Nevermind. I’ll see what I can do about tomorrow.”
“You better,” Jeri warned with a smile. She gave Michael a quick hug. “We’ll let you work. We’re off to see the aliens.”
Michael stiffened. “What?”
They exchanged glances. “Alex mentioned a trashy museum?” Michael’s shoulders relaxed fractionally.
“Oh yeah,” he nodded. “It’s not much.”
Whitty shrugged. “Jeri wants to take inappropriate pictures with little green men.”
“Fuck off. You want to take stupid pictures, too.”
“I never said I didn’t!”
“You insinuated that we’re only going for me. Same thing.”
Whitty laughed. “How is that the same thing?”
“Okay,” Michael cut in. “You guys have fun.” He waved a hand at their car. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
Johnny waved goodbye as Jeri picked the argument back up.
It lasted the whole drive and the entire two hours they spent inside the three room museum. They’d both lost the plot of it ages ago but they kept it going, the back and forth old habit for them.
There were a few tacky tourist shops littered along Main Street and a fun little diner with an entire menu of alien puns and before they knew it the majority of the day was gone. They had just enough time to split up and gather their supplies before they headed back to the cabin to meet up with Alex.
When they walked in almost an hour later, they found the couch cushions scattered on the floor with what looked like every pillow and blanket Alex owned. The man himself was perched on the empty couch. A movie was already queued up on the TV.
“Any trouble?”
They shook their heads. “Johnny wanted to try every milkshake at this diner we stopped in.”
“I wanted a Little Green Man!” He protested with a laugh. “Jeri had two.”
Alex grinned. “You went to the Crashdown?”
“Their menu is amazing,” Jeri gushed as she plopped down next to him, ignoring all the cushy comforts on the floor.
“It is,” Alex agreed easily. “That’s Liz’s dad’s place. His milkshakes are amazing.”
“They really are,” Johnny concurred as he started emptying his bags. Jeri had already opened the pizza boxes on the coffee table and he set his loot next to them.
“Jesus,” Whitty whistled as he passed out the alcohol. “Where did you find this crap?”
“Gift shops,” Johnny beamed, proud of his haul.
“This is gonna suck.” Alex shook his head, a smile on his face belying his words. “Alright, you know the drill.” The others nodded and got as comfortable as they could. The rules of the Adams Special were simple. One person chose a movie (it wasn’t required that it was a military movie but no one had ever chosen anything else). As they watched, they had to call out any inaccuracies they spotted. The first person to spot something got to take a drink while everyone else had to eat something from the haul (again, it wasn’t required that the haul be full of the most disgusting candies and snack foods available, but well, it always was). As a bonus, whoever drank got to get a blanket/pillow/couch cushion and make themselves comfortable. It sounded like a reward but really, whoever started off in the ‘lead’ was quickly too drunk to keep up with everyone else and usually ended up forcing down more of the haul than anyone.
Richard Adams, a self proclaimed film buff and all around devious ray of sunshine, had come up with it after their first tour and it had quickly turned into a unit tradition.
“What’s the movie?” Whitty opened his bottle and grabbed a slice of pizza. Real food was only allowed until the first inaccuracy was spotted.
Alex grinned and clicked play. A moment later groans filled the air as the Pearl Harbor title filled the screen.
“We’re gonna die,” Jeri mourned as she crammed a slice into her mouth. “I don’t think Johnny got enough snacks.”
“There’s a stash of MREs in the pantry,” Alex assured her.
“Oh, great. Thanks, Satan.”
Johnny shouted out the first error and with a loud groan, the game was afoot.
They made it three quarters of the way through the movie before the snacks ran out. By then, they each had a nice little cocoon of mismatched blankets and pillows. Alex had grabbed all of the couch cushions and kicked the others onto the floor.
“Should- should we-” Jeri leaned back against the couch. “MREs?”
Alex dropped his bottle of whiskey onto the table with a loud thunk. “Or we admit defeat.”
“We can’t,” Johnny protested weakly. “Adams would be ashamed of us.”
“We don’t have to tell him,” Whitty offered. Truthfully, they’d managed to find even more inaccuracies than in previous viewings and the screen was starting to waver too much for him to focus. Damn alcohol.
Johnny tried to sit up to argue with him but ended up flopping back onto the floor. “Yeah, okay.”
The next few minutes passed by, blissfully silent except for the TV.
“Is it possible to feel your heart break?” Alex slurred suddenly. Jeri paused the movie immediately. No one looked at each other. “Because- because when I see him I feel it.”
“What do you want, Alex?” Johnny asked, his voice over loud.
“Michael,” Alex answered immediately. “I just want him. But he doesn’t want me.”
“Okay,” Jeri shifted so she could look up at the couch without sitting up. “So what are you going to do about that?”
“I’m trying to be happy for him. I mean, I am happy for him. He’s happy with Maria and I want him to be happy. And I love Maria and I want her to be happy. I just wish they weren’t being all happy with each other.” He sighed heavily. “I’m an asshole.”
“You’re in love,” Jeri countered. “It’s okay to not be a perfect guy when your heart’s involved, Alex.” She suddenly sounded a lot more sober than she had a few minutes before. “Do you want space?”
“No,” Alex protested loudly, instantly. “I already did that. Did that for three years and I won’t do it again. It hurts like hell seeing him with her but I’d rather see it everyday than leave him again.”
Jeri rolled over onto her stomach and slowly pushed onto her hands and knees. Whitty watched her and Alex have a silent conversation before she crawled onto the couch and wrapped herself around him like an octopus. Alex tugged his blanket around her shoulders.
“Why’d you say-” Whitty stopped, his jaw snapping shut as he realized what he was about to ask.
Alex sighed. “Why’d I say no?” Jeri and Johnny both turned to look at him, surprise and confusion warring on their faces. “I was in New York, he was here. He wasn’t going to leave his siblings or this town and I didn’t exactly get a say in where I lived. I knew I probably had at least one more deployment and we were young. Is it really so absurd that I wasn’t ready to get married? I thought we had time. I thought we’d talk about it after I got out. After I moved home and we lived together.” His voice got quieter as he talked. “I thought we had time.” He repeated. “I didn’t know it was then or never. I would’ve said yes. I would’ve made it work if I knew the alternative was him leaving in the middle of the night and- and- and this.” He scoffed. “This hurts worse than having my fucking leg blown off.”
Whitty waved a hand at Jeri and she nodded without really looking at him. Without a word she slipped off the couch and pulled Alex onto the floor. Whitty and Johnny crawled over from their opposite sides of the room and the three of them cuddled around Alex.
“Love sucks, dude,” Johnny advised sagely. No one said anything until suddenly they were all laughing.
Silence fell over them for a long while. The soft hum of the television lulled Alex and Johnny to sleep quickly. Whitty could feel the soft fog of sleep tugging at him when he heard a car in the driveway and then the front door creak open. He struggled to wake up until Jeri laid a hand on his arm.
“Adams Special?” Whitty heard the smile in Michael’s voice.
“Would we do anything else?” Jeri didn’t get up or even lift her head. Her eyes were fixed over Whitty’s head.
“Is he-”
“He’s in pain,” Jeri admitted softly. “It’s no one’s fault, really. Just life. And love. He’ll be okay. We’ll make sure of it.”
Whitty watched as a hand came down and stroked the hair off of Alex’s forehead. Alex turned into it, still deep in sleep but somehow knowing whose touch it was.
“I hate seeing him hurting,” Michael stroked Alex’s cheek with his thumb.
Jeri didn’t answer for long enough that Whitty had to check that she was still awake. “Michael,” she finally said softly.
“I know.” He sighed. “I know.”

Nobody expected Johnny Depp to send those photos, though in retrospect they probably should have.
Director David Yates was finishing filming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them when the images arrived in his email. Depp had yet to shoot his climactic scene: Magizoologist hero Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) reveals that the fugitive dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald has been hiding in plain sight the entire film, disguised as dapper auror Percival Graves (played by Colin Farrell). The Farrell-to-Depp switcheroo was to be the film’s biggest shock when it came out in theaters, but first it was the director’s turn to be surprised.
Much like Depp had done when crafting his takes on Willy Wonka and Capt. Jack Sparrow, the actor huddled together with a makeup team to design his own creative look for J.K. Rowling’s villain.
“I had an image in my head of the guy,” explains Depp, who felt emboldened in his creative choices by a Skype chat with Rowling about the role. “She said, ‘I can’t wait to see what you do with him.’ It was beautifully left as this open gift.”
So Depp sent photos of himself as Grindelwald to Yates. His first-draft makeover was “slightly more extreme” than where Grindelwald ended up, the director recalls. “We saw this character as a combination of poet, rock star, visionary, and sociopath, beguiling but lethal,” says Yates, who also helmed the final four Harry Potter films.
After some back-and-forth (at one point a “foppish, romantic look” was considered and rejected), the production embraced Depp’s concept of Grindelwald as a pre-WWII vision of Aryan fascism — an ultra-white, pasty-faced platinum blond, with an undercut haircut and pale mismatched eyes.
“I almost felt like he’s maybe two people,” Depp says. “He’s twins in one body. So a gamy eye is more like the other side of him — a brain for each eye, and he’s somewhere in the middle.”
When Depp’s Grindelwald was unveiled in the final moments of Fantastic Beasts, fans were indeed stunned, but also concerned. The dark wizard looked so strange. Was he supposed to be comedic? So for the second title in the planned five-film franchise, The Crimes of Grindelwald, the evil wizard’s appearance was “softened and refined,” made to look more natural. Judging by the enthusiastic fan reactions to the film’s final trailer at the end of September, the tweaks worked.
Grindelwald’s evolution was just a small example of how the Fantastic Beasts team leveled up for the sequel. Where to Find Them bore the burden of launching a new Wizarding World franchise with a different cast, setting, time period, and characters. While the movie was largely a success — with solid reviews and $814 million worldwide at the box office — members of the filmmaking team quietly felt that the sequel could (and should) be an improvement over its predecessor.
“When we made the first film [the actors] all thought it was great,” recalls Ezra Miller, who plays troubled young wizard Credence Barebone. “But the department heads — Yates, [production designer] Stuart Craig, [costume designer] Colleen Atwood — were all like, ‘It’s not good enough, it has to get better, it has to get way better, and here are all the things that were wrong with it.’ [Crimes] is a serious push by some of the greatest artists in the game to elevate in a way that’s inspiring to watch and be around.”
That elevation began with Rowling’s script, which largely shifts the action from New York to Paris — a new locale, sure, but returning to Europe feels more Potter-esque. And while the first film was focused heavily on Newt, the sequel is more of an ensemble piece that deepens returning characters, introduces several new ones, and plays like a life-and-death, wartime noir thriller (no whimsical three-minute scenes of Newt demonstrating a mating dance at the zoo with a horny Erumpent).
The setup is that Grindelwald escapes while being transported to a new prison and rallies an army of supporters with his pledge to unify the Wizarding World and rule Muggles. That leaves Hogwarts professor Dumbledore (Jude Law), the dark wizard’s former childhood friend (and perhaps more?), to enlist his expelled former student Newt and, by extension, his American friends — rebellious auror Tina (Katherine Waterston), her telepathic sister Queenie (Alison Sudol), and affable No-Maj Jacob (Dan Fogler). But that’s only the beginning.
“The script is labyrinthian,” says Redmayne, whose introverted beast-wrangler is a bit more comfortable in his own skin this time around. “You’re going down this maze, and Jo [Rowling] is weaving the stories together with such intricacy. Along the way, connections to Harry Potter and secrets are falling at your feet. And there is one…” The Oscar winner pauses, knowing he’s treading into heavy spoiler territory. “I got to the end and my jaw dropped. There was one thing I didn’t see coming.”
“Darker” is a word the cast uses a lot. “Complex” and “fast-paced” are others. The film is more, well, adult — The Crimes of Grindelwald may be the most grown-up of all the Wizarding World titles.
EW caught up with Fogler shortly after he saw the completed film for the first time, and he was as excited as any fan stepping out of a cineplex. “It reminds me a lot of The Empire Strikes Back,” he says. “The first movie is so positive. It’s sweet and lovely. But this time everybody is really put under fire. People are gonna see this, like, a hundred times just to get everything. They’re going to be going nuts that they have to wait for the next one. And Jude Law, oh God, he’s perfect.”
Ah, yes. From the moment that first photo was released of Law as a dashing Dumbledore, even the most discriminating Potter purists admitted he was spot-on as the beloved wizard (and some are rather hot for teacher, with hashtags circulating like #Dumbledaddy and #Dumbledamn). Adding Dumbledore to this prequel pleased Rowling, too, who spent more time visiting the set during this shoot than the first film.
You might assume Dumbledore would be the least mysterious part of this tale since we already know so much about his past and future. Not so. “There are things to resolve from Albus’ life, some of which we know from the story, some of which we don’t know about yet,” Law says, and then comes up with an even better tease: “This is a good riddle. One of the reasons Dumbledore trusts and likes Newt so much is Newt understands and forgives beasts and monsters. And there’s a part of Dumbledore — only a part — that sees himself as a bit of a beast.”
The friendship between Newt and Dumbledore might feel a bit wistful for Harry Potter fans: It’s like a glimpse into what might have been if the future Hogwarts Headmaster had somehow been able to carry on his friendship with the Boy Who Lived into adulthood. Yet Newt, unlike young Potter, can quickly spot Dumbledore’s “for the greater good” manipulations.
“One of the things I love about Newt is he has this naivete and gentleness on the surface, but he’s got quite a steel core,” Redmayne says. “He adores Dumbledore, but he also knows when Dumbledore has crossed a line and isn’t afraid to call him on it.”
Newt’s whip-smart Auror love interest Tina is back as well, going on a mission to hunt down Credence in Paris. “She’s more confident this time. No one is questioning her intellect and instincts,” Waterston says. Yet her character’s love life is a mess thanks to some long-distance-relationship misunderstandings. While fans know Newt and Tina eventually end up together, the duo clearly have no idea. “It’s fun to play something out where the audience is one step ahead and Newt and Tina are the clueless ones,” the actress says.
Newt also has a tense relationship with his older brother, Theseus, played by Callum Turner, who broke his wand during his first day on set during an enthusiastic screen test. Theseus is an uptight careerist and Head of the British Ministry of Magic’s Auror Office, who’s pressuring the rebellious Newt to fall in line with the wizarding government’s plans.
“Theseus wants his brother to stand up and fight [Grindelwald],” says Turner, but the two have conflicting ideas on how to #resist. That Theseus is engaged to Leta Lestrange (Zoë Kravitz) — Newt’s schoolboy crush — complicates matters as well.
Yet perhaps the most intriguing new character is the one fans only discovered last month: Nagini, a circus performer who gives customers one heckuva transformation act as she morphs into a massive snake. South Korean actress Claudia Kim wasn’t told which character she was playing until she arrived for her last audition. A Harry Potter fan since sixth grade, Kim instantly realized Nagini was cursed to eventually become Voldemort’s murderous serpent.
“I was speechless,” she recalls, and then was told that for this final test, she had to pretend to transform into a snake — on the spot. “I instantly felt the heartburn, a lot of insecurity, but you have to empty your head and let your instincts take over,” she says. “If I find [the audition tape] I will destroy it!”
Once on set, Kim worked with a contortionist to perfect her act, infusing her performance with varying degrees of snake-ness. “David would give directions like ‘Can you do 2 percent more snake?'” she says, laughing.
Since her casting was announced, however, some have objected to a person of color playing a character doomed to subservience. Those close to the production disagree with that perspective and note that Kim simply gave the best audition for a standout role. “Claudia Kim is a living god,” Miller declares. “You’re about to get your head blown off. Prepare yourselves for Nagini. This is a tragic and beautiful story.”
Miller should know, as it’s his character, Credence, who teams up with Nagini to form a power couple of sorts: two lost souls with unique magical abilities they can’t entirely control. “Credence has joined the circus, as one does when you’ve killed your foster mom and fled the country,” Miller says glibly. “He’s trying to figure out who he is. They’re two people who don’t really trust anyone who are learning trust for the first time.”
Another challenged couple (actually, every major character in Crimes of Grindelwald is arguably part of a couple, and that’s why the Paris setting is so apt) are Jacob and Queenie, who flee America due to its strict policy against No-Maj/wizard relationships. And guess which charismatic politician is surprisingly in favor of such unions?
“Grindelwald actually sounds like he’s all for love — if you love a Muggle, you should be allowed to be with them, and you should be allowed to marry,” Fogler reveals. “But wizards, he feels, should be on a pedestal. This is very tantalizing to some.”
So hold up. Could the nicest couple in this story, Jacob and Queenie, join Team Grindelwald? They’re not saying, of course, but Sudol notes: “Grindelwald’s like staring at the sun — you’re not supposed to, but he’s hard to look away from. He does very, very bad things.”
And he does them with flair. One of Depp’s improvisational additions was giving the wand-waving Grindelwald a conductor-like rhythm during a key sequence. “When Johnny conducts a barrage of spells he’s like a conductor guiding an orchestra — except instead of creating music he’s effectively creating fiery mayhem and death,” Yates says.
Indeed, the film’s title promises crimes. And that this dark wizard’s deeds are wrapped in divisive rhetoric at rock-concert-style rallies peppered with populist appeal sounds kind of, well, familiar. Is Rowling making — unintentionally or not — some kind of modern political point? Sudol certainly sees one.
“The film is terrifying that it’s so relevant,” she says. “We really need to focus on trying to find commonalities amidst the instability of the world’s climate. When a lot of crazy things are happening, it’s very easy to lose true north.”
Which brings us, quite appropriately, back to Newt, the story’s moral compass. At one point in the movie, Newt tells his brother, “I don’t do sides.” That’s almost a revolutionary stance in hyper-partisan times. But it’s also one that, given the forces at play, is perhaps unsustainable. “You really get the sense that Newt’s always gonna make the right choice,” Fogler says. “In this day and age, that’s very refreshing.”

Murder denied
“YOU WEREN’T SUPPOSE TO CARE! I CAME TO KILL YOU! BUT I….I fell in love with you.” John yelled at Thomas. John fell into his arms sobbing his eyes out. Thomas hugged him tightly, refusing to let go.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John got a letter in his mailbox. That wasn’t uncommon, he was a secret assassin. Only few people knew of his services. The letter asked for John to meet Alexander Hamilton as his own apartment on the night of the twenty seventh.
John checked the calendar. It was the twenty sixth. A good twenty four hours before the meeting was to take place. He geared his supplies before going to bed at two. He woke at twelve the next afternoon. He laid his clothes out and took a shower.
Afterwards he went to the kitchen to make lunch for himself. He made it big as he didn’t know when he was going to eat again. He checked the time to find it was two. He dreaded having to wait four more hours to leave. Waiting was not his forte.
Five thirty finally rolled around and John left to go meet with the Mr.Hamilton. He had never met the client before nor heard of him. So this obviously was some political killing. Maybe a small Assassination that will keep someone’s secret hidden forever.
John arrived at his house promptly at six. He knocked on the door awaiting an answer. A tall ginger opened the door. He had blue eyes and seemed agitated. He ushered John inside before slamming the door shut.
“So Mr.Hamilton who seems to be your problem?” John asked taking a seat at the table set up. Alexander went around the room and shit all the blinds and made sure the door was locked. Once he sat at the table, he began.
“There is a Mister Thomas Jefferson who needs to be disposed of.” Alex told John. “We are or were running mates for the upcoming election. He has his to say discovered dirt on me. He plans to use it to blackmail me and take all the votes and power. Our city will be…..ruined if he takes office. I need you to stop him.” John sat there for a moment thinking.
“What will you pay me for disposing of this Mister Jefferson?” He asked twirling his blade in his hand. “Killing and hiding dead bodies isn’t exactly easy you know.”
“Look I have one mil saved away if you succeed in killing him. I will give you all of it as long as he is disposed of.”
“How will I know you will promise to give me the full payment once I get rid of this Jefferson guy?”
“Look take this watch. It’s worth a considerable amount of money. If I don’t give you the money, keep the watch. It’s of great importance to me.”
“Hmm a sentimental watch for one million dollars. Sounds like a plan Mister Hamilton. I’ll be contact when the victim is gone.”
“Thank you.” John backed from the table and shook his hand. He stared at the watch in his hand, sliding out the front door. Alexander had given him a file with name,address, and other things John would need to lure the man to his death. He found the victim was Bi. John noted certainly to use for his advantage.
He found a picture of the man he was hired to kill and froze. He didn’t want to admit it, but he was hot. If he had to date based on looks, this man would be top of his list.
John shook the thought aside and went on his way. He glanced around until he slipped into an alleyway in the north side of the city. No one
came down this way and it was a perfect place to draw out ideas of the murders he committed for his customers.
The sun was slowly falling behind the buildings as he laid out a map of the city. He marked the suspect’s home and office. There was a park in between the two locations. There was also a junkyard near the office. He took note of the junkyard before going through and finding rivers and creek that he could potentially drown him in.
Once he was finished, his map looked like a pride flag. Colors streaked all over the place. He took note of the places he could commit the murder and hide the body. All of his information would change once he sees and scouts Thomas.
John heard a can tip over and bolted up throwing his maps in his bag. He glanced around but saw no one. Then a small black haired guy tumbled out of the pile of trash.
“So Laurens, Who we killing now? Politician, person who knows too much?” The guy asked smirking. John rolled his eyes realizing that Charles was drunk.
“Ironically both.” John told him helping him up. He thought about leaving him there but decided against. He helped Charles to his place and dumped him on the couch. He was luckily really light and John was able to carry him when he passed out.
John took out the picture of Thomas again, sighing over how handsome he is. He pushed the thought aside. He couldn’t dwell upon how handsome the man he was to murder was.
“Stop it John. I’m sure he’s a terrible person. You can’t fall in love with him. He may look hot, but he is probably mean and hurtful.” He placed the photo away and sat at his computer searching up where he might be campaigning or going for a meeting. John found he would be doing a meet and greet with the people. He could go and get a potential scope of who he was dealing with.
He went to make sure Charles was asleep before going to sleep himself. He woke up to Charles attempting to make breakfast. He rolled his eyes and got up making sure he didn’t didn’t hurt himself.
He made Charles a drink to help with the hangover. He then finished breakfast that Charles was trying to make. He gave the food to him before leaving.
“I’ll be home later, please don’t trash my apartment. I like my apartment.” John told him walking out the door. He pulled his beanie on his head before locking the door behind him.
He found his car down on the road and drove to the mall where Thomas would be doing his meet and greet with the public. He arrived and found a long line weaving out the door. He didn’t want too, but he got in the line.
Hours later he finally arrived at the table. John halted. He realized that Thomas was hotter in real life than in his picture. John contained himself as Thomas stretched his hand out to greet him.
“Please to meet you Mister…..”
“Oh uh Smith. John Smith.” John replied.
“Pleasure to meet you Mister Smith. You’ll be voting for me in the next election yes?”
“Yes, yes of course I will.” Thomas smiled at him. John gave in and almost fainted. He had never been more in love in his life. Several of Thomas’ bodyguards carried him away to an ambulance. He was examined by the paramedic before going home.
John noticed a guard slowly following behind him. He turned a few extra corners but he didn’t stop. Once he came upon his building, Charles came stumbling out.
“Hey Johnny boy. Thanks for the hangover cure. Although it didn’t last long. I’m going downtown.” Charles stumbled off and John smacked his head to his hand. He walked inside the building, watching the guard walk away. John shook it off. There was no way they could know was he was commissioned to do.
He opened his door to find his placed trashed. He gave up and cleaned the apartment before falling onto the couch. He couldn’t understand what he was feeling. He refused to love anyone,now here he is, falling in love.
John fell asleep on the couch, waking up around dinner time. He found a can of soup and poured it in a bowl heating it up. He heard a knock at the door. He pretended he didn’t hear it, but the person kept knocking. He turned off his soup and answered it. Thomas was standing at the door with a goofy grin on his face.
“Hello Mister Smith. I came to see if you were ok from earlier.”
“My name is John Laurens. Sorry I panicked earlier and told you the wrong name. Please do come in.” John stepped aside and allowed Thomas to come in. No one could see them, he could kill him right here. No one would know.“Thomas I need to tell you. I’ve been hired to kill you. But I can’t.”
“May I ask why you can’t kill me?” Thomas asked sitting on his couch.
“This is going to sound stupid, but I think…..I think I’m in love with you. I can’t kill you.” Thomas looked concerned and scared at the same time. He realized it could easily be a trap to kill him. Make Thomas vulnerable then strike him.
“Mister Laurens, I came to check on you, not to be told that you love me. Please if you let me leave I won’t tell a sound what you told me, and you can murder me at a more convenient time.” John plopped on the couch.
“You don’t understand I don’t want to kill you.” John looked up tears streaming down his face.Thomas came over and hugged him. Months passed and Thomas and John started to go out in private. Neither wanted the press to know. At least, not until after elections.
One night Thomas found John crying on the couch of his house. Thomas sat next to him, hugging him.
“YOU WEREN’T SUPPOSE TO CARE! I CAME TO KILL YOU! BUT I….I fell in love with you.” John yelled at Thomas. John fell into his arms sobbing his eyes out. Thomas hugged him tightly, refusing to let go.
“It’s ok John, I will always love you.”
