#DISCLAIMER I HAVE NEVER SEEN A STAR WARS MOVIE
Note
Bakugo hot take: his character would have been better if he was a girl. This would also make him even more controversial. I will not elaborate.
Oh god this makes me wonder if. Okay so. I’m about to say something cursed. And I know I’m going to get hatemail about it (or at least very passionate explanations about why I’m wrong).
is bakudeku just yaoi reylo

hellooo redacted nation, i come to you today with a humble question to test the waters a bit....
so for a while now i've been working behind the scenes on some stuff and i've mentioned it a few times on my blog but ok hhh here goes
tl;dr is that i want to make fan audios taking place in the redactedverse, but with exclusively original character speakers and listeners, and the audios would take place in my version of one of the other cornerstone cities (not one that's already named in canon)
these audios would be from a female presenting speaker (so F4A) and besides the worldbuilding and some easter eggs and references thrown in, would not be connected to the dahlia stories plot wise.
so i guess my question here is....
more rambling and i guess explanations of my thought process under the cut
i've been working on a couple different scripts on and off now for a few months trying to learn how to do scriptwriting for audios (oh my god it's so hard how does ANYONE do this 😫) and i have a one or two that are close to being ready to record so i've really started to think about the idea of actually doing this, which is why i'm suddenly so concerned about if anyone would actually want to listen to them 😅
i have friends that are really supportive and helpful of this project but none of them listen to redacted or audio roleplays in general so while i value their input, it's not exactly the same as knowing if the actual fanbase would be interested. saying to them "this character is a sadism demon! this character works for the department!" is equivalent to someone who has never heard of star wars opening a fanfic and reading that someone is a jedi, y'know what i mean? (i use this example as if i am not a bitch that has never seen a star wars movie in their life oop)
and even if the majority of ya'll aren't really interested in what i make, just knowing that a few people would be willing to give it a try will hopefully kick those doubtful thoughts out of my mind and get me inspired to finally finish something! 🥹🙏🏻
and idk if this all needs to be said but i feel better making this disclaimer: i'm obviously not affiliated officially with redacted, and i really stress the term "fan audio" because i don't want to try and claim ownership over his worldbuilding in any way. my intent is not to copy or steal his original ideas, i just want to show my love for his work by making something with all the stories in my head that it inspired. because of the nature of this, i don't ever plan on monetizing the videos if i ever got to that point. and while the characters i make and the storylines that would follow them along with the setting i make would be mine, all creative credit for the overarching worldbuilding itself will always be enthusiastically given to erik.
and i guess if you actually read to the end of all this rambling i could reward you with...... a little something...... a teaser if you will 🫣

My trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as a Regressor🥰🎀
Tumblr media
Here’s a little thread talking about my time at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studio. I’ll talk about the different experiences I had, rides, toys and more! Thread below🧵⏬ (SFW!) :)
Just a little disclaimer😁
I went on this trip as a family vacation. So I wasn’t able to regress fully like I normally would when home alone. My family doesn’t know about my regression at all. My mom has a sort of idea but just thinks I’m young at heart. I didn’t fully regress but that didn’t stop me from feeling little at Disney. I mean it’s hard not to at a park made for kids! With that out of the way let’s get into it!
First and foremost let’s talk about Florida right now😬🔥
It’s HOT! When I went we had 85% humidity and 95 degrees outside. Despite putting sunscreen on TWICE I got sunburn on my face, shoulder and back. I think I drank about 4 water bottles and still felt lightheaded.
The best advice is to pace yourself. Anytime I felt myself getting over heated I went to a restaurant and relaxed for a couple or I went to an easier attraction like Muppets 3D show, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Frozen Singalong or Star Tours.
Get yourself a refillable water bottle! There are plenty of spots around the park that have water bottle filling stations which are great for keeping cool under this crazy heat in the summer!
Let’s talk about the best attractions for Regressors😆🎢🎠
For younger Regressors like myself I suggest:
Star Tours - I absolutely love Star Wars. If you love Star Wars too and want a more milder ride then Star Tours is your ride. It’s a thrilling attraction. But the beginning is so cute! You walk through a Star Wars theme “airport” with R2D2 bickering with C-3PO. Then the attractions has C-3PO driving your spaceship while you sit in a seat with a seat belt and 3d classes. If you love Star Wars this ride is BEYOND FUN!
Muppets 3D Vision - As a HUGE muppets fan I love this attraction. It’s the best for those like myself who need a break and some AC. You sit in a theater and watch a 3d show of the muppets! I mean, what more could you want! It also has firework lights on the ceiling and the old men critics are sitting with you in their own little box. So cute!!
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - I LOVE THIS RIDE! It’s such a relaxing yet fun ride! The theme of the ride is being able to step into a cartoon with Mickey and Minnie. Goofy is hilarious! There are so many Easter eggs too. Gotta keep an eye out. I was giggling the whole time. There’s a photo I took of the cartoon characters building the railway, (see photo below) and if you look around the photo you can see the walls are decorated to look cartoonish! Super detailed and immersive!
Toy Story Mania - This is another super fun ride! You sit in a ride vehicle with a blaster and 3d glasses. (Now writing this I realized there are a ton of rides with 3D glasses😅😂)
Frozen Singalong - I’ve never personally been to this show myself because my siblings would kill me for even suggesting it. But I’ve seen clips of it and it looks so fun! It’s a Frozen themed show that talks about the story and has the audience sing along to songs from the first movie! Great way to beat the heat and regress a bit:)
Now some rides for older Regressors:
Slinky Dog Dash - This is a milder rollercoaster (in my crazy rollercoaster experience). I absolutely love this ride because it’s smack in the middle of Toy Story land and is themed with different characters spread around the rollercoaster. These characters include: Jessie, Rex, and Squeaky. Throughout Toy Story land and this ride everything is made up of toys, making you feel like a toy yourself. Giant Janga logs and alphabet blocks make up these attractions. The ride itself is literally slinky dog and he talks throughout the ride. It honestly feeling like your on a Slinky when riding it! (See my photos below😁)
Rockin Rollercoaster - This is a high speed, intense, upside down rollercoaster. If you’re a crazy rollercoaster fan like myself then this is your ride! The theme of this ride is that the band Aerosmith wants you to go to their concert so you go in a stretched limo ride vehicle. I will warn those who go on a bit milder rollercoasters, this is not for the faint of heart. This ride starts off launching you from a stand still to 57 mph speeds (91 kilometers per hour) straight into a loopy loop. I haven’t been on this ride in a really long time when I went on this trip. The launch had me really feeling the g-forces. But I’m a crazy rollercoaster fan so I greatly enjoyed it! (See photo below for ride vehicle)
Tower of Terror - Another high thrill attraction. Besides myself I don’t know anyone else who enjoys this ride. The theme is a elevator that suddenly breaks and drops. It drops you about 4 or 5 times and it’s fast! So fast that you fly for a second or two off your seat (don’t worry you’re wearing a seat belt). I like that weightless feeling but it’s not for everyone.
Star Wars Smugglers Run - If you’re a Star Wars fan like myself then you’re gonna love Galaxy’s edge! It’s a whole section of the park that is theme to look like a Star Wars planet! The attractions in this section are Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance. Smugglers Run is a simulator ride where you literally pilot the Millennium Falcon! It sits 6 people, 2 pilots, 2 gunners and 2 engineers. I love this ride! Who wouldn’t want to fly the Falcon?!
Star Wars Rise of the Resistance - This is the most immersive Star Wars ride I’ve ever been on. It feels like you’ve been taken into space! I don’t want to spoil much of this ride because there are a lot of surprises but it’s beyond cool! One drop at the end but mostly a smooth and easy ride! (See photo below of an x-wing!)
Alien Saucers - A spinning attraction in Toy Story land. If you’re not for spinning rides it might not be your speed because you don’t control the spinning part of it. It sort of whips your ride vehicle around itself. It’s a lot of fun and adorable themed.
Let’s talk food!🥨🍭🍪
In my opinion Hollywood studio isn’t the greatest when it comes to food. But it does do well with snack. As someone with a lot of stomach issues I stayed away from the greasier options and opted for eating a Mickey Pretzel! For sweets they had funnel cake and a Mickey Mouse cookie! I got the cookie but the funnel cake looked amazing too. For all you muppet fan they have a Rizzo themed pizza restaurant that makes pretty decent pizza. They also have a lot of nicer sit down restaurants like one where you sit in a mini car or a 50’s themed restaurant. Overall not too bad!
For those with Disabilities going to Disney💘
Before you even go to the park, make an appoint to talk with Disney’s disability center. They were super accommodating to my needs and made a plan for how I would navigate my day around the park. This is extremely helpful for anyone with any disability. They were extremely kind and understanding. Without this I don’t think my day at the park would’ve been as easy as it was.
The nighttime shows!🎆🏰
Hollywood Studios offers two different shows to end the day with: Fantasmic or the regular projection firework show.
The projection firework show is nice if you don’t want to be in a crowded show area. There is plenty of space and you get to see a series of different movies and show throughout the years projected on the main theater. It ends the night with fireworks that are super cool!
Fantasmic! - This is there you want to go for the coolest show to end the night at Hollywood Studios. It does get VERY crowded. It’s a major production show complete with fireworks, fire, projections, lights and even water special effects. Mickey Mouse host the show! It’s about using your imagination! The show features: Mickey, the villains of Disney, Pocahontas, Elsa, Moana, Aladdin, The lion king, beauty and the beast, the little mermaid and Erik, Snow White and the Prince, and many more! One of the coolest shows I’ve ever seen!! You gotta see this! My little side was screaming inside! So much fun! The show ends with a river boat with all you’re fav Disney character! (See below for photo!)
What I got myself at the park!🧸🚂
I got myself a stuffie of one of my fav Star Wars characters Princess Leia! She’s not super soft but I thought of her more as a protector to watch over me at night! She’s got her classic white outfit and side buns! As a HUGE Toy Story fan, I got myself Rex! I have a stuffie of him but not an actual Rex! So I got him to join my collection of Toy Story themed toys. I also got myself a pin of baby Minnie. She’s so cute and I felt she related to my little side!
Overall I had a TON of fun being a Regressor at a theme park. It doesn’t matter if you’re with your family or by yourself. You can still regress a little and be yourself at Disney! Disney is for the kid inside of all of us, so let your inner child out! I hope all this info helps you if you plan on making a trip to Hollywood Studios! If you have any questions please feel free to message me!😁🎆🏰

Monthly likes/dislikes
❣️ The Eclipse - no comment. it’s phenomenal. F & K are delivering and I didn’t expect anything less lol. They really made the right call casting them for this because their chemistry is 🔥🔥🔥 The characters are nuanced, the progression and the pacing are on point and I’m super curious to find out more about Ayan and his uncle. Also neolouis are intriguing and I’m loving neo in this role! So excited!!! 11/10.
👎🏻 Coffee Melody - I don’t wanna say I had high expectations for this but I was excited and the first 2ish episodes were actually pretty good - but then it went downhill and by this point it’s just bad. The pacing is off, it’s slow, boring and repetitive. Like if some random dude breathing near Plengrak is all it takes for DuanYi to have the emotional breakdown of his life then maybe yall should call it quits for good lmao. It’s been like this for 7 episodes now. I’m tired. I’m gonna sit through the last few episodes but I wish it would go by faster. 2/10.

finally
the (semi) long awaited hux longpost! before i get into any of it though, some disclaimers:
1. i have never read the star wars comics and honestly i never will. i like star wars enough to watch clone wars and suffer through the sequel films. that's it.
2. i will not be giving all my thoughts on hux as a character because then i can make more posts and i like when the numbers go up
3. as i said, i have not read the comics. i honestly only half watched rise of skywalker. this won't be super accurate to the star wars lore or anything like that, this is for fun
4. on that note, while this isn't going to be super serious, there are still heavy and sensitive topics, primarily child abuse and neglect, so if those things bother you, please sit this out
actual longpost/shitty character analysis below the cut
how does one start with a character like hux? despite how little screen time he actually gets in the movies, he's incredibly complex, even before you get into the comics. there's a lot to be said about him, even if you only have context from the movies. and while i could (and probably will) make a separate longpost about how last jedi not only fucked the entire trilogy over, but specifically ruined the character of hux by making a genuine threat into a joke within the first 15 minutes, not today my friends.
i will mostly be focusing on hux in the force awakens, using things from the rise of skywalker and what little i know about his backstory in the comics.
1st it must be stated: i do not like any of the other characters in the squeal trilogy. i don't hate most of them, but i either don't have an opinion on them (finn, rose, bb8 kind of, maaz, kylo to an extent), or i genuinely hate the character entirely (rey, she'll get a longpost later). a lot of it is because most of these characters don't have a lot of personality, which is a problem the sequel trilogy has as a whole. even returning characters are bland or weirdly mean
yes, you can argue that hux doesn't really have a personality either. however, compared to others characters (cough cough rey), he is dripping with personality, if you look a little closer. the first example that comes to mind is the speech scene. when he yells, there is genuine malace, hatred and fury in his voice. he isnt just yelling to be loud, he's yelling because he demands respect, terror and power.
it makes sense why he would want those things, especially when you look at his background in the comics. hux is a bastard child, his father was abusive and neglectful. he probably grew up feeling in adequate and out of control. he grew up in terror, so he is going to inflict that terror on others.
(i also want it to be known, i don't think hux is a good person. he's sympathetic, and with his backstory you can understand why he did what he did, but he also literally blew up several planets so. a little different.)
even in his smaller interactions, he seems stiff. while part of that is probably because no one had any personality, part of it could be purposeful. hux is a character desperately grasping for respect and control. he's stiff because then he can control how the conversations he has go. he's cold and confident because people respect those with plans who present those plans calmly. in tros, hux says "i don't care who wins. i just need kylo ren to lose." he's more focused on the way those around him look. because if they look bad, he looks better, he looks more confident, more in control. even after he's dead, he needs to be respected, feared, whatever. he can't let himself be seen as anything other than entirety perfect.
hux doesn't have a personality, because he can't let himself have anything other than utter perfection. he would rather be feared, loathed and respected than simply appreciated and forgotten.

What did you think of Rogue One?
Ah boy. Ok. First, a disclaimer that this is just my opinion, not me declaring some objective truth about the movie. Just because I felt one way about something doesn't mean I think everyone has to feel that way. If people really liked the movie, I am honestly happy for them! And if you really liked the movie to the point where someone disliking it will upset you, you may want to stop reading now. That said, here's my review.
Overall, I'd give the movie 2.5 stars on a scale of 1-5. Maybe 3 if we're being generous, because it was fun to watch in a casual way at some points, and some things were done well— Jyn's character and Galen's moral quandary were the high points for me. Everything else, though— storytelling, sense of place & visual feel, dialogue, characterization, most of the action sequences, overall plot— was disappointing to me. There was very little originality to be had in any of it, and although of course things don't have to be wildly original and never-been-done to be good, it felt like I'd already seen this movie a hundred times, except done better. Most of all, the majority of it felt flat and lifeless. It would have been extremely forgettable to me if not for Andor having already made me care about some of its characters.
Things I liked:
Jyn as a character. She has an interesting backstory, was well-acted, and has a depth and dimension that I feel the other characters were missing. I am very curious why, upon seeing that movie, the decision was made to dive into Cassian's backstory instead of Jyn's (although of course I'm glad we got Andor!). I think Jyn's time growing up being trained by Saw Gerrera would make quite an interesting story. (Watching her singlehandedly wreck like 12 people while Cassian watched in awe was definitely fun, haha.)
Galen's choice. I think this posed a truly interesting question. Was it true that the Death Star would have just been built without him? Would the destruction of Alderaan have happened without him? Did building in the flaw make up for the fact that he still in fact built it? Did his choice save lives or destroy them? Did he do it because he truly believed he could save lives that way, or because he was just trying to stay alive himself? Was it bravery or cowardice, or both in some strange combination?
K2. He was fun to watch, good comic relief, and I empathized with him a lot.
The death scene on the Scarif beach. Beautifully shot, acted, and directed. No notes.
The music. Lovely, orchestral, classic Star Wars scoring.
Things I didn't like:
My main issue with the movie is how flat everything felt. The characters, the setting— everything felt lifeless. It was hard to get emotionally invested because nothing felt like there was a true spark of life behind it. I'll go by points here.
The settings. The visual effects fell flat to me, but even beyond that, there was no humanity behind places like Jedha. It felt like the extras were told to mill back-and-forth aimlessly in front of the camera, rather than being given something to do that would give us a background glimpse into the culture of a place, as on Ferrix in Andor. The lack of depth to the setting made the locations feel like sets, not planets, and made it hard to feel a real sense of place and emotional connection.
Pretty much every character except Jyn was completely one-dimensional. None of them felt like real people at all, just devices to move the plot along. They each had their character archetype and were not allowed to deviate from it at all, and their choices came not from their characterization or their motivations, but from whatever the story needed in that moment. Their decisions felt contrived, making the characters not believable as people.
Many parts of it felt afraid of genuine emotion. It would pull back on the sincerity right as people died, refusing to actually let the emotional impact hit. Maybe this is a function of being directed at a younger audience, I don't know, but to me it felt like a refusal to take the world and people seriously in a way that affected my emotional investment.
The plot felt like a straight highway where you can see right through to the end and there's nothing by the wayside but endless fields of corn. I'm not even asking for twists, it's just... there was just not much there at all. No real arcs aside from the main one of getting the death star plans, no interesting or unexpected wrenches in the main plan, just... bland.
The action sequences were almost comically cliched. Nothing wrong with some well-used tropes, but after the second time Jyn wound up hanging off some ledge by one hand and had to dramatically haul herself back up, I could no longer keep from rolling my eyes.
Much of the dialogue was stiff and not believable. It didn't feel like people talking, it felt like the writers trying to deliver information.
The blocking was often very contrived and awkward to the point of feeling goofy.
Wow, they really managed to pull the "magical Asian" trope AND the "blind but can ~sense~ everything around them so don't worry they're not actually disabled" trope in one character. Really being efficient here.
(Also, not a critique but I am so genuinely confused on why they were all so dismissive of Chirrut. They treated him like just a wannabe, but... The man can literally dodge bullets and read minds, why the fuck is that not impressive or even like... useful to any of you?? Truly baffling, I do not understand it at all. "He's not actually a Jedi, so his ability to do crazy levels of Force magic that none of us can do doesn't really count" huh????)
(Also not a critique, just another thing I'm confused about now after watching— Why has Saw been so vilified, in canon and by fandom? "He's an extremist" everyone here is literally involved in a violent rebellion, he's doing the same thing "He's uncooperative with the other rebels" Rogue One also went rogue, because the other rebels were wishy washy and unwilling to commit "using Bor Gullet to read people's minds is so unethical" no more unethical than shooting your own source in the back of the head. What happened to enjoying grey morality? Anyway I stan Saw forever.)

Coomaycroft's guide to experiencing the Scott Piligrim
fWell H'llo newcomers at the Scott Piligrim Franchise.
I've seen this questions posted for several days now "On What order should I experience the media?" "Should I watch the anime or the comics first?"
Well, because it's become an encompassing franchise like Star wars or LOTR, I figured I'd propose a watch order for the people that just became aware of this multi-media spanning saga.
The (main) franchise is made of:
Scott pilgrim (the manga, comic, graphic novel): first released in 2004 as separate volumes and later sold in boxsets, and later in color hardcovers.
Scott pilgrim(the movie): released in 2010, directed by edgar Wright just a mere month after the end of the last volume. Disclaimer, I am biased against the movie.
Scott pilgrim (the game): Released pretty much at the same time as the movie (august 2010) for the play station and Xbox (what gen I don't remeber, it was a long time ago). I'll add a disclaimer here: I have never played the game, But I did watch the gameplays. The game is a side scrolling-beat em up/plataformer/RPG with a few different events depending on choices you take across the game.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off: the animated series released this november. controverisal for choosing to make Ramona the protagnist of the story rather than scott.
there's also:
Scott Pilgrim vs the animation: A short cartoon made to promote the movie which adapts a flashback from vol. 2 where Kim, Scott and [Redacted] are still in Highschool
The Mobile comic: The comic in app form, which uses animations, sounds and vibration for the experience.
neither of these last 2 is fundamental for the expereince. Now onto the main topic:
what is the optimal way to enjoy Scott Pilgrim?
for this, I'll propose several orders depeding on what your priorities are:
A) the 2010's order: If you like doing things in chronolgical order
Read the comics first
watch the movie
then play the game (tho you can skip it)
finally watch the anime
As its name says: this order is best if you want to experience SP the "correct" way, as in, knowing what the story is about and seeing how it changes across time. basically you get the OG story in comic form, which still has that 2000's vibe. Then the movie takes the main elements of the story and gives it a more grunge 2010's aesthetic with some character change. The game serves as an intermission or break where you get to focus more on the vibes of the world rather than the story. finally the anime is a sort of revisionism on the character of Ramona and sensibilities of the modern times can be seen influencing the overall story: deconstruction, refference and subersion of expectations.
B) The Just the basics Order: if you just wanna se what the fuss is about
watch the anime first
read the comics
skip the movie and the game altogether
Old fans of the franchise will consider skipping the movie a sacrilege but hear me out: there is no storytelling value to be gained from it. All the beats of the story are in the comic and the hottest new thing for the next months is the animation. Sure, the movie is 1hr and 52 minutes, easy to knock out along the animation. But the problem is precisely how much it skips, giving the newcomers little context to understand the characters from the POV of the anime.
The game follows the story beats too loosely to get the full context of the story and characters. sure there are alternate events to the comic but by virtue of it being a game, these events are not elaborated on; no narrative payoff, no storytelling value.
IF you watch the anime first you've gotten a good taste o the SP world and characters with a focus on Ramona. Then you go to read the comics and you'll see the characters in a fuller picture, and much of the lore reffered in the anime will be explained. The anime and the books compliment each other: the anime focuses on Ramona and the side characters more (the exes and ramona's friends) The comics focus on Scott and the main characters (Ramona to a lesser degree, Sex-bob omb, Knives, and Wallace)
C)The Unraveling order: If you don't care much about spoilers and like Lore to be given little by little
watch the movie first
watch the anime next
Read the comics last
the videogame is not necessary.
This order has a few advantages: by watching the movie first you get the crash course on O' Malley's vision. know the cast, basic events, and setting. watching the anime second the world will be expanded, and side characters will be explored but many events will still be shrouded in mystery. Finally by reading the comic last, you get a new context of the events of the movie, the characters the anime and pretty much the story on which everything was based off. Think of it like knowing a friend's story/drama from others and finding a book telling the full version of the events.
This order also gives a very interesting interpretation of Ramona: in the movie you'll see her as a distant, and alluring girl. By watching the anime you get another side of her that the movie doesn't show; much more reletable and understandable. Finally, the comics give us a full understanding of why she is the way she is: her fears, flaws and virtues.
In the end, I consider the comic/manga graphic novel fundamental because it's just good. It has drama, action, romance. It's a story about friendship, gorwing up, and facing your demons. The movie, though I'm biased against it, has some of the funniest moments in the franchise and great scenes. The animation presents a new story and a new vision on the same world. So they all have their merits.
Addendum: FAQ about the franchise
basically quick answers to some of the most asked questions:
Do I have to look at the comics/movie before the animation?
No, the reading is not required. The animation is its own story told with the same characters, epsode 1 is vol. 1 almost to a T except that vol. 1 goes more in depth about evertyhing. From there the story beats are different; they happen with different characters or in different order or are entirely new.
So you can jump right in, and if you go with the other media there's newer stuff from your POV
What's the difference between the comics/movie and the animation?
In layman's terms: the movie and comics focus on Scott, and Ramona is the co-lead. In the animation Ramona is the lead and scott is even less of a co-lead and more of a romantic interest. Again, events differ but are similar.
Are the comics worth it?
Yes, they are. Even if you liked Ramona's story more, she still gets a TON of screentime in the comics and she goes through very different stuff, giving a whole new angle to her. If you didn't like Scott, the comics are all about beating him into the ground and making him learn from his mistakes. If you think Scott is a cinnamon roll that must be protected you'll get a crash course on why nobody is perfect. If you wanted more Knives, wallace, Stephen, and Kiim the comics are totally worth it.
bonus: you also get to know who the unknown blonde girl is, and why everyone is throwing a fit about her and why the fit is totally justifed.
Do I get the b&W version fo the comics or the color version?
That's really up to you. it's the same story but the color versions usually have some extra mini-comics about scott and friends that o'malley made avoer the years. I'm on the camp of "you should read it in the original black and white because that's the original experience" but I'm a pretentious nerd.
why are some people saying they didn't like the animation/it felt off?
the animation changed a LOT of things after ep. 1. Again, they made Ramona the protagonist. But I agree that we got SO little from Scott. In my opnion, the struggle Scott goes through the story to better himself is fundamental to the theming. So, for an old fan, the animation does feel lacking.
On top of that it took the fandom by surprise because all we had heard was that Ramona would get more developemnt but the promos and trailer pretty much felt like they would follow the comics but in a more compressed way. The story structure is changed as well: the comics are a sort of tournament arc shonen. The animation is a murder mystery shonen.
If you're a new fan, don't listen to the olds. It's the Prequel syndrome all over again. the animation is good, the movie is good, the comics are good. Choose your fave and don't let anyone tell you you're worng.

Alright can we just talk about shipping culture nowadays because honestly it is very much starting to get on my nerves.
So i guess shipping for me had always been part of my fandom experience not in every fandom tho, i get invested in some ships sometimes and last years others i may just get them but not actually ship them and others i ship for a while but they may not be intriguing enough for me.
the point is shipping had always partially been about considering different interactions for certain characters sometimes by keeping said character as they are and sometimes by shifting certain aspects in how they behave or how they are to fit them in said ship and that's honestly fine everyone has there own way of enjoying the fandom
however it is the change in shipping that is absolutely horrible nowadays , it is just not about the characters anymore , it is just tropes I don't know ,has it always been like this ?
Like discussing ships used to be writing a whole analysis about how these characters would fit together and maybe even creating a little background for the characters or just a sufficient 'idk i just like them together'
But now it is just 'well enemies to lovers , guy fell first , redeemed villian what's not to like ' and worse anybody who doesn't agree with said interpretation seems to have no part of the fandom anymore.some characters in canon just can't fit together in a romantic relationship so if shippers want them to fit they are going to have to change their personality entirely and again that is fine but i don't want a whole long ass essay about how YOUR interpretation YOUR own take on the character is how this character actually is in canon so you can ship your characters together and diss on everybody who doesn't agree with you.
This is in both the loki fandom where i don't think anybody talks about anything regarding the show other than loki and sylvie's "chemistry" or loki and mobius , loki is being reduced to this narcissist how needs someone to teach him a lesson or to humiliate him in order to be better , in order to do so most shippers twist sylvie and mobius into these loving caring people they are definitely not to fit this troupe in their heads of " love made the villian turn into a hero", same in the star wars fandom specifically the new triology , it is all about shipping rey and kylo together which i used to enjoy in just for fun really but i don't even want to start talking about how the majority of the shippers were in this fandom 🙄 (also rey deserves better anyways), fandom has been narrowed down to ships , and ones the hype is over most of these fandoms collapse , cause they are just built on liking troupes and imaging the character infront of you regardless of how they actually are to fit this troupe , so if another Show/movie/book series does the troupe better or has a hype right now you look for these troupes and move on from said fandom.Fandoms collapse so fast right now and i believe a huge part as to why is this new shipping culture , shipping is becoming a must in every fandom right now you can't enjoy a fandom otherwise .
This is just my theory really i have been in many fandoms for a long time and weither this is actually what's happening or not, something has definitely changed about how fandoms are right now.
*Phew* sorry about the long rant
Hey, for what it's worth I enjoyed your rant 😉
I have never been a shipper myself so I don't have much insight into this, I'm afraid. I'm glad people have fun with their ships, as long as it's in good faith and they respect those who don't like their pairings or see them in a different light.
The only thing I have seen as of late (as in, the last few years) is that it would seem some people label certain ships as 'morally right' or 'morally wrong' and judge the shippers accordingly. It sucks because the way I see it, shipping is supposed to be good fun for those engaging in it and it shouldn't require a full-on disclaimer from a fan stating they're a good person to justify their favourite ship.
I see what you mean about fandoms collapsing pretty quickly and being narrowed down to shipping. Perhaps a part of that is the fact that many series have their entire seasons released at once, and we have such a huge pool to choose from (and a rather weird idea that we have to consume as much as we can to be in the loop with other people) that folks go from one to another like maniacs, which leaves us with the most basic engagement of shipping a few characters, too little meta and eventually nothing at all.
I definitely agree that in the SW fandom, the Reylo craze was a little too much to handle - and Rey deserved so much better (I say that as a big Kylo fan, by the way), and in Loki's case I think it's funny because they switch the roles: in the series, Loki is good and caring, and Sylvie/Mobius are selfish criminals who only care about themselves. But when it comes to shipping a lot of people switch them and pretend Loki is the selfish criminal and Sylvie/Mobius are the loving and caring ones.
It is one thing to do that if you're writing something canon divergent or you're retconning them for some reason, but to claim that characterization is canon is just wrong.

Devoting Far Too Much Brainpower To The Magic In Aikatsu
Disclaimer: I have only seen Stars and On Parade, so this is going to be extremely Stars-centric. It’s basically a Stars lore post with some On Parade at the end. If you have anything from the other continuities to bring up, please do so. OGkatsu is on my watch list so when I finish it I will most likely either edit this post, reblog with more findings, or make a second post.
All right. So as we all know, Aikatsu isn’t 100% realistic. No, I’m not talking about Otome’s hairstyle or the fact that Elza is allowed to go wherever she wants without bodyguards when she’s a princess and presumably an only child. I’m talking about the magic.
The most obvious example, obviously, is the Aikatsu System, so I’m gonna cover that first, and then the sort of superpowers some of the girls appear to have.
All right. So as we all know, when these girls sing, the area around them is turned into an elaborate stage that fits with the song, and the audience is moved around to accommodate this stage.
At first, you would assume holograms, and there’s hints to this- but it CAN’T just be illusions.
If it was just holograms alone, explain how a stage that looks like this
Tumblr media
Can turn into this
Tumblr media
And have Mahiru go all the way to the other side without falling off the stage or walking on the audience.
Clearly, there’s gotta be something more than just illusions making you see things. The items on and around the stage have to be physically there, and the audience has to have actually been moved over to those viewing platforms, or she’s gonna be singing while standing on someone’s head.
And just in case you weren’t convinced yet that it wasn’t magic, in one episode of Stars, the power goes out during a performance and yet the backing music plays and the elaborate stage is there. It can’t be fancy technology or special effects. This is reality-bending magic.
Besides, the transformation thing has NO mundane explanation. When those cards appear on her, the clothes remain there after the performance, and there definitely was not a very long Rainbow Road behind that entrance right up against the wall before. Conclusion? The Aikatsu System either has a fully customizable pocket dimension that it transports people to for performances, or, it can reshape reality enough to completely transform a room and even make it bigger on the inside to the point of being able to set the performance outdoors and get rid of the roof and walls altogether even if they are still there to anyone not watching the performance.
Oh, and we can’t forget something else important about this system.
It might be ALIVE.
In season 2, the star wings are granted by the system. It chooses girls to give wings to, and later on, it chooses girls to give the Sun Dress to. Not to mention the Moon Dress. Really comes across as it having a mind of its own. Like it’s watching their shows, waiting for them to impress it enough to receive wings.
With the possibility of it being alive, this makes one wonder about the episode of On Parade with the goth girl wars movie. They said it was illusions using the system (although what kind of illusion can be solid enough for someone to ride on top of it? Unless they magically or invisible-ropely lifted her into the air, which I’m not going to rule out.) But the point is. If they used the Aikatsu System to create that movie, and if it truly is alive, that means there’s a way to communicate with it, which is also most likely how Hime found out about the Moon Dress. And we just. Never find out what that way is.
One more thing about the system before we move on to other things: Why is the alive magic so focused on girls singing and dancing? Is it doing this for its own entertainment? Or was it created by humans to make magic spectacles? Was it always alive or did it gain sentience somewhere along the lines? Where does the sci-fi end and the magic begin? Is the reason that the star wings’ appearance can’t be predicted that it decides to give wings to the new generation out of boredom?  Ok, let’s talk about the rainbow aura now. There is a rare ability some girls have that gives them a power-up, but tends to make them pass out afterwards and can destroy their ability to sing if they use it too much. Reiterate: Yume has magic rainbow powers.
We never find out their origin, but we know that people don’t choose to have them. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s said somewhere that they’re chosen to have them, like with wings. Which raises the question of what kind of being would give girls superpowers that destroy them like that. Is it an intentional side effect, and if it isn’t intentional, then why does it keep bestowing these powers on these girls? Is Aikatsu implying that whatever gods may exist either don’t care about their people, are ignorant to the darker side of their world, or are powerless to change anything?
Ok, I’m gonna change the subject because I don’t want to turn into one of those people who dives really really deep into a kids show in order to prove that it’s secretly edgy. Yume and Hime have superpowers, let’s talk about card machines now.
In one episode, a dress that looks like it took eternity to make is put into a machine and disappears. A set of cards with that dress on it then comes out of the machine. I’m not even going to TRY to figure out how that works. It’s magic. They made a machine to cast a spell for them so they wouldn’t have to do it manually. Ah, urban fantasy.
Also, cards can be made without a pre-existing physical dress, as evidenced by the Dress Make, though this seems to have a tendency to allow less freedom.
Now, let’s get into individual characters and the magic several of them have going on.
First off, Lilie. Her very presence appears to summon cold wind containing snow. In other words, she has snow/ice magic- and she has some degree of control over it. In episode 98, Lilie does this
Tumblr media
In order to cool down Yuzu. She summons her ice magic and glows while doing so.
Depending on how much control Lilie has over this magic, it’s also possible that she is purposely making winter winds blow every time she enters an area for dramatic effect.
But anyways. This proves the existence of magic abilities outside the realm of singing. It’s unknown if Lilie was born with this ability or learned it, but either way, the existence of ice elementalists implies there might be other elementalists out there.
In addition to humans with magic abilities both on and off the stage, there is also a notable idol in Stars who is a humanoid fantasy being.
This idol is Aria Futaba. You’d probably assume they’re being figurative when they call her a nature fairy, until she conjures flowers out of thin air. Her singing has also been shown to bring dead plants back to life. Additionally, in her debut episode, she created an aurora.
Tumblr media
Glowing hands and everything. This girl is a legitimate magic nature fairy. It’s not even ambiguous. Fairies exist in Aikatsu.
I’m going to give brief mention to Yozora’s ability to tell what kind of person you are just by touching your skin, as if she can read your soul, and get into a standout example of magic I witnessed when watching Aikatsu On Parade.
During the Christmas episode, Sora waves her hand and magically makes another girl’s dress grow a giant ribbon, a more interesting skirt style, several layers of pink frills, and a matching hat.
First off, I want her to do that to my outfits. Second, there are spells of Make Your Outfit Cuter that exist in Aikatsu. So that’s how they make super elaborate Premium Rare dresses in the span of under a month while also juggling photoshoots and tv appearances and concerts and sleep.
At the end, there’s also the little ribbons Raki gives the other protagonists, which proceed to go invisible, reappear, magically send streams of light and glitter in the sky, and act as some means of letting them hear each other’s voices and communicate across dimensions. I’m not sure how aware Raki was of the nature of her magic ribbons. Of course, given that this is Saya’s sister we’re talking about, the communication aspect could be more of a sci-fi element, but what with everything else, it can’t be exclusively that.
When I mentioned seeing standout examples of magic while watching On Parade, you were probably expecting me to talk about the randomly appearing doors that are portals to other dimensions. And since this wouldn’t be an extremely long after-midnight-on-a-Tuesday post about the lore of a glorified video game ad for 7-year-olds with a focus on the urban fantasy aspects without talking about these portal doors, that is what I will do.
Raki’s sister, who has a marked tendency to remind you that for all this urban fantasy you can’t forget the sci-fi elements, is aware of the existence of multiple dimensions, and that the Aikatsu System exists in them all, if somewhat differently. And she wants to fuse several dimensions together into one. Kind of batshit when you think about it, yet an admirable goal at the same time.
And so doors begin magically appearing, and Raki’s first instinct is to open them. Instead of getting trapped in an endless hallway maze with Arcade Carpet Edward Scissorhands, she simply goes to another dimension. She continues to use this portal network to jump between dimensions until the dimensions are one. You have to wonder what kind of crazy door related rituals Saya was doing, what the ratio of sci-fi to magic was, and what she did to that Aikatsu Pass to make it glow and detect the portal doors.
We can’t forget that this wasn’t even the first crossover. Stars had a couple episodes devoted to crossovers with OGkatsu. What this means is that the portals created in the experiment are not the first ones. Did the OGkatsu gang just stumble across a portal that already existed, or did one of them find out how to make one? Really makes you wonder.
Anyways. This has been me typing for ages about the magic in Aikatsu Stars and On Parade. Expect to see more when I’m done watching OGkatsu.

Why isn’t mass media more neutral?
Disclaimer: I’m not taking any sides here, nor am I provoking any of you to say it, but this has been on my mind quite a bit and I feel like saying it now: Honestly saying, I’ve always felt like the media favours Palestine over Israel way to much even tho media is supposed to be neutral.
Essays in exams, front pages of newspaper, stars on social media always talk about Palestine but seem to be painting a rather black and white “Palestine good Israel bad” picture but never seem to be willing to dwell deeper into the topic, and when they they go somewhat below the surface it’s always from Palestine’s perispective only, nothing explaining Israel’s side of story as passionately even if at all. Even in India vs Pakistan wars, you’ll find motives and aggressions from both sides easily enough if you looked.
“Stars” like Bela Hadid raise slogans demanding Israel’s dissolve under the ruse of Palestine’s independence and no one bats an eye. The founder of Human rights watch left the organisation saying that it was being biased towards Palestine and has forgotten its original purpose. A lot of funding of these pro palestine news channels comes from Pro Islamic nations organisations, most of the said countries being Palestine supporters.
Palestine is suffering, yes, but it’s not just Israel that’s making it suffer. Hamas has a major role to play too. It kills its own civilians more than Israel does. Palestine has seen some serious bloodshed since Hamas came into power but no one seems to focus on that. There’s little to no discussion about how Palestine is bleeding internally due to hamas, but only the stuff that can be used against Israel.
You’ll hear about how Israel “attacked” Gaza and most of the times it turns out to be some retaliation. We always hear about civilian deaths whose names are never revealed but no one ever wonders what civilians were doing around militant bases. We talk about how palestinians are being thrown out of Israel to show them as big aggressors and it turns out that the land was originally Israel’s territory to begin with.
I’m not being pro-Israel here, And I very well admit that it can have its fair share of violations, such as killing of the one Al-Jazeera reporter , accident or not (look, I fucking hate that platform but that doesn’t mean I condone killing of someone who didn’t do anything) but this is something that has always made me curious. It can’t be as simple as “Israel evil”, can it?

Andor and the freedom of metaphor
Disclaimer: I have not watched any of the Bourne films, but I have listened to all of the Kill James Bond episodes on the series.
Tony Gilroy, as you might have seen in some of the trailers, is the showrunner of Andor. He also co-wrote Rogue One, the first three Bourne movies, and wrote/directed the Bourne Legacy. The Bourne films exist in a constant conflict between depicting the CIA (accurately) as evil, the antagonists who operate an illegal CIA death squad that birthed Jason Bourne and are now hunting him while also staying within the pro-American imperialism party line of mainstream Hollywood. The Bourne Legacy is the film where this comes to ahead, where it is revealed that inside the CIA there is a second evil CIA that actually did all the Treadstone stuff.
Given what we’ve gotten in Andor, I believe that Tony Gilroy himself is not conflicted in this way. He has a clear conception and hatred of imperialism in all its forms, as shown in the well crafted analogies and real world similarities in the show that many other people have written about. It is implicit or explicit executive interference that has muddled the themes of the Bourne films he has been involved in. Despite Andor being as mainstream as the Bourne films in its production, Tony Gilroy has been able to write something a lot less compromised because on its surface it isn’t about the evils of the American (or British, or whoever) state.
This is one of the powers of speculative settings like Star Wars. Not only does working in metaphor and similarities to the real world allow you to present unique angle and address a different variety of topics than you could with a single story when only using the real world (or think about how many different people could relate to the Dhani when they aren’t just one real world group),  it also lets your work have a wider reach. Somehow Disney didn’t object to all the themes present in Andor, but they sure would if it was about America and a real mega-corporation. While the ISB hasn’t really done any intelligence work on screen yet, they are the space!CIA, and unlike in the Bourne films, there is no equivocation required. You’ll also avoid the controversy that would otherwise emerge if the anti-imperialist themes in your work were explicitly anti-American. This could perhaps help your message reach some more people, people who when you aren’t making them start on the defensive by criticising “their team”.
If you want to make even a subtextually anti-war film using real world militaries, that isn’t going to happen in Hollywood anymore. The studio is going to want to get the free sets and props and rather than hire an consultant so that you can actually depict everything accurately, they’re going to bring on the DOJ who while they will help keep things accurate in the technical sense, the involvement of the government will turn your film into propaganda. But there’s no easy financial carrot when the military you’re depicting are a bunch of stormtroopers instead.
And this isn’t the first time this has happened with Star Wars. George Lucas could have never made a film where the heroes team up with the Viet Cong and then drive America out of their country. Except, he did. It’s called Return of the Jedi and the Viet Cong are also cute little teddy bears. And that’s only one example. Andor is just contiuning the long tradition of using an sci-fi fantasy setting to depict anti-imperialist themes while still being acceptable to executives and embraced by a wider audience, even if many of them don’t pick up on the subtext.

Could a tv show save the sequel trilogy?
After watching Clone Wars and Rebels and Clone Wars again and getting my heart absolutely wrecked every time, it brought me to two conclusions. One, Dave Filoni is a god and must be protected at all costs, and two, animated shows and tv shows in general have immense power
So there’s a fair share of prequel hate out there, a camp which I sort of understand but definitely don’t belong to, but it’s pretty much universally accepted that the clone wars is golden. For a lot of people it made the prequel trilogy so much more meaningful and impactful than it was before. Rebels only continued this trend, continuing to give depth to the world of star wars, tying in some of the EU and continuing stories of tcw characters while also simply telling a really good story of a new cast.
Which led me to the question I posed at the beginning. Could a tv show save the sequels? We’ve seen tcw ‘save’ the prequels, could a new show do the same for Disney?
Disclaimer, I have not watched Resistance, and I have watched Mandalorian.
In order to break down the question we’ll have to outline some things. First: Why did tcw ‘save’ the prequels. I think it comes down to these things. They... -- expanded upon and added depth to existing characters -- expanded the world building, and lore -- successfully introduced compelling new characters  -- continued the thematic elements of the prequels and sw as a whole  -- had really good storytelling overall  -- none of these above things contradicted or disconnected from the existing world of the movies
Now, is there a show that could do that for the sequels? Explore the characters more, delve deeper into the world, and tell a compelling and cohesive story? (listen I really am asking, lmk your opinion!)
I am going, also, to posit some of the base ideas I have as well.
First: The year is before the Force Awakens, and after Ben genocides Luke’s temple. The show will center around one Jacen Syndulla and friends. Jacen is now a young Jedi who survived the temple razing, as he had been studying under Luke beforehand. Jacen is a quick tie in to the rest of the tv shows, being the child of Hera and Kanan from Rebels. He would travel the galaxy, perhaps trying to reach out to Ben, perhaps trying to stay the heck away from him. At some point he’ll find out about Something On Jakku and we’ll see him try to get there, always thwarted at exactly the wrong moment. Rey never meets him and it’s a tragedy. I could see him working with the resistance, and we could see other facets of the ST characters through him that way. The most potential I see with this idea is exploring Ben through a character like Jacen who grew up alongside him, and we could see more of exactly how Ben fell to the dark side, Snoke’s(and ig palpatine’s) influence and Luke’s teaching. It could also be used to salvage Luke as a character and give him better motivation for whatever happened in TLJ.  Of course, if you haven’t noted it already, we come to the stumbling block with this plot thread that FA made possible. It’d be almost exactly like Rebels. And I choose to blame this entirely on the New Hope Awakens episode 4 7 and not on my elevator pitch!
Second: The other idea I had would be half about the sequel trilogy? It’d be more of a direct sequel to episode 6, basically following the OTs as they set up a new Jedi and a new Republic. But this may be bias talking, as that’s what I’d have wanted to see, and I also don’t know how well it’d work into the ST we actually got. The potential with this story thread again is Luke and Ben and Snoke, figuring out how Palpatine, one, survived, and two, has been pulling strings this whole time. The worldbuilding potential here is also huge, chances to explain what the first order is and why it exists.  However, I don’t know how well this would make for a tv show, and does little to help the characters of the ST, as it’d largely be set slightly before their time.
Third: Somewhere between TLJ and ROS. This is the only time skip present between the mainline movies. It’s not like tcw, where the showrunners had something deliberate and fleshed out to talk about in their show. So they don’t have much low-hanging fruit to pick up for plot, and I think the time skip is pretty short. Still, this gives the most potential for the ST characters, and expounding upon them. We could see the trio actually work together, discover their relationships together as they go on missions. Rey is trying to learn how to be a Jedi, and is getting increasingly frustrated because she can’t get it. There could be darker hints as to her heritage. Also some proper bloody foreshadowing to the rise of palpatine and the Sith in the next movie. We should see her struggle and grow, go back to Jakku and deal with that, keep confronting Ben and Luke and Leia in more interesting ways. In my head the structure is pretty much like tcw or rebels, but maybe that’s just how I expect star wars shows to be structured at this point. A series of missions, exploring themes over arcs of a few episodes. And again we come to lovely originality problems, because this would be basically TCW with OT flavor and ST characters. But if it works it works, and I think this is really the best option to ‘save’ the ST. We need to get invested into these characters, and their best bet (as far as a tv show goes), is to do for Rey what TCW did for Anakin.

It’s not that he’s “hung up on The Menace” as Dionysus so delicately put it. It’s just that it’s a bad idea. Awful, really. Percy Jackson’s got off-limits stamped across his pretty little forehead. If Zeus had sent Dionysus to that demigod camp over a nymph, then Poseidon would certainly toss him into Tartarus if he went near his son.

To Make a Legend by WardofWinters (QoLife)
Percy was having a normal day at the beach, until he decided to try to waterbend like Katara from his favorite show.Problem is, he succeeds. Now he has to figure out how to waterbend, and keep the normal people from finding out they have a waterbender in their midst.Finding out he's actually a child of Poseidon will probably explain a few things. (Used to be named Avatar: The Legend of Percy)
*Is a series, should have at least have basic Avatar: The Last Airbender knowledge*

Of Gods and Men by plottingalong
The order of things are changing. Old rules are shifting, old gods awakening. Percy Jackson must come to terms with his own mortality, or rather, the lack of it.

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep." ~Robert Frost
-
Rhea thought the fight was over when she handed Luke that blade. The war she fought for others was over. She was wrong. Now a thousand miles and a thousand years from home, all alone with just the ghost of a curse to accompany her in her travels, she will only fight for the wars she chooses.
"I promise." It tastes like a lie, but I know I’ll do my best to fulfill it. How am I to make the gods listen when they don’t even know who I am?
Hold Tight and Pretend It’s a Plan by Rynna_Aurelia
Olympus has fallen. The second Gigantomachy has ended far differently than the first, and in Gaea's triumph, the world has been torn apart. But the Fates have seen what ends their failed meddling brought Western Civilization, look on at the dead—and undo what should never have happened the only way they possibly can. Perseus Jackson, son of Poseidon, is returned to his twelve-year-old self, memories intact and determined to save everyone he can. But he is not alone. The Moirai underestimated the strength of the Lord of Time when stealing his power, and there is something about this particular demigod brat that intrigues him. . .
Perseus Jackson came roaring to life with a violent gasp, green eyes wild. After a moment of panicked flailing and struggling to breathe, his fear-filled gaze settled upon a girl with blonde hair and stormy grey eyes, her face stern and unimpressed.
 "You drool in your sleep."
Trading Tomorrow by Darkmagyk, loosingletters
Percy Jackson arrives at Camp Half-Blood bruised and bleeding, with the knowledge that he's the son of a god and his mother is dead. His little display with the Minotaur has caught the attention of the camp. But he’s not sure it is good attention, yet. Only the Hermes Cabin's not-quite Co-counselor Theseus, ‘call me Theo,’ doesn't treat him like a fascinating zoo exhibit. Which would be a relief, except he looks exactly like Percy: same green eyes, same trouble making smile, same black hair. The only differences are the fact that Theo is six years older, covered in battle scars, and the black tattoo on his arm. A trident and the letters SPQR.
Theo is eighteen, powerful, and unclaimed. And his resemblance to Percy could set a dangerous precedent.

“I just don’t get it,” he huffs to Will as they put up holiday decorations in the unusually quiet infirmary, “they talk to me like I’m supposed to know stuff. Like I’m the new Percy or something.” Nico expects Will to laugh at this, shrug off his concerns as unfounded and tell him he’s being over-dramatic like usual. He is wrong.
“Okay, babe, don’t take this the wrong way. But, you kind of are the new Percy.”
___ Based on a tumblr post I made about Nico being the obvious choice as Camp Half-Blood's unofficial leader when Percy leaves for college. (only no one bothers to tell Nico that)

Were I That Burning Star by californianNostalgia
An old panic gripped me—the breathless fear of being forgotten, being lost. Would anyone remember me when I was gone? Would someone think to lay a flower down on my grave and say some fond nothings like, “Was a pretty cool guy, that Lester,” while wiping off a single dramatic tear rolling down their cheek? Oh, who was I kidding. So what if no one remembered? There wasn’t much I was proud to be remembered by anyway.
After defeating Python and bringing down Nero, Phoebus Apollo reclaims his godhood. He is glorious once more. But for some reason, he can't quite make himself go back to how things were before.

So, About Dune,
If you've read the book or are willing to do some research you'll most likely love this movie. Otherwise you'll have to keep a very, very, very open mind if you don't want to be disappointed.
Let me open by saying that this is not Star Wars, or Alien, or any of those nice little pieces of easily-digestible storytelling that Hollywood passes off as sci-fi. This is Dune, an adaptation of a book written in the 1960s when literary science fiction was at the height of its intellectualism and complexity. From a layman's perspective, the book is the Shakespeare of sci-fi.
Now, this movie is a perfect adaptation of the first act of said Shakespeare, which of course means that if you expect anything remotely similar to those neat little Hollywood stories you will be disappointed. There are no tractor beams or laser-swords or cheesy comic-book villains (disclaimer: I am not insulting Star Wars. I actually like Star Wars, I am simply making it painfully clear that if you want to watch Star Wars you shouldn't be watching Dune). No, this is a film about political plots, sowing the seeds of change, and galactic intrigue with all the action consolidated strictly to the third act. In short, it exactly the sort of sci-fi I fear most cinema-goers will not have the patience for.
Now that we've established exactly what sort of movie this is, let me get into the actual review. As someone who has read the book, I loved every second of it. Many who have read the book consider Dune to be fundamentally unadaptable for a variety of reasons (especially considering the numerous failed attempts) but somehow this film pulled it off. Everything is lovingly portrayed almost exactly to the letter. Sure, scenes are cut and dialog is changed here and there, but such things have to be done. There will simply never be a better adaptation of the first act of Dune (how they handle the other two acts remains to be seen).
My one concern is that it might actually be too accurate to the book in a way. I fear most average cinema-goers will be watching this movie simply because it's a blockbuster and go in expecting a rip-roaring action adventure (which we've established could not be further from the truth). Because of that, the film may ultimately bomb preventing us from ever seeing Part 2.
Regardless, here's to the first good adaptation of Dune. Let us hope we get Part 2 soon, and that it maintains this stellar quality.

I have never watched a single star wars film completely so now I am learning what the fuck happend through the Lego Game (below read more are notes after completing each trilogy)
Disclaimer:
I know some very basic stuff of the og trilogy (mainly Luke and Leia being siblings, C3po and R2D2 exist, Yoda in some kind of swamp environment and Luke and Leia being the children of Vader)
I know close to nothing about the prequels except we got a meme from it, Obi-Wan is in them and Anakin = Vader and Pademe is the mother to Luke and Leia (I think Palpetine also appears in those movies but idk the plot of the prequels only that it ends with Anakin becoming Vader)
I know some general plot points (I think) of the sequels as I have watched some clips of them (mainly for Oscar Isaac because of Moon Knight research prior to it being released)
I remember the robot with 4 lightsabers and some lady in red with white facepaint(?)
OG trilogy:
I always thought the whole Luke I am your father would already happen in the first movie but alright
Are….Are Ben And Obi-Wan the same person….?
I thought Palpatine was in the prequel trilogy and Vader was the main villain for the OG
Also why the fuck did no one spoil to me that Vader and Luke would fight together against Palpetine
Was Leias and Hans romance also only established at the very end of the third film?? Seems a bit weird but alright
I didn’t fully get why Luke went to Vader and Palpetine in the first place? Like I guess to prove that he is not gonna turn to the dark side
…Luke and Leia kissed in the movies didn’t they? If yes thank you Lego Star Wars for just removing that part
I don’t know why I thought it was Vader that was cast in the silvery stuff instead of Han
Boba Fett?? Appears in the OG trilogy?? As an “antagonist”??
Anyway Conclusion: Story seems interesting enough especially since I knew NOTHING it turns out about the third movie of this trilogy. I was planning to watch all the movies after the game anyway but atm I am most interested in the story and execution of this trilogy
Prequel Trilogy:
I’m sorry but am I told that Star Wars happened because of an in universe trade disagreement???
ANAKIN BUILD C3PO??
ANAKIN IS NOT AN ORPHAN
Pademe seems a bit…older than Anakin
I have never seen Queen Amidala out of Lego form
Palpatine actually looked normal once huh
AMIDALA AND PADME ARE THE SAME PERSON??
Ok but did some strange insects really get sent in for a break in into padmes room??
I can’t imagine General G as something other than in Lego form like his character design stuck so in my head that after more than 10 years I still remembered it in such detail
…So they just made a lot of clones?? I always thought Stormtrooper were a lot of clones but now I don’t think they are??
So Vader/Anakin has a bunch of temper tantrums
Why do peoples faces change when they turn to the dark side??
Conclusion: I got a bit lost during the whole clone thing with Jango Fett. Bit weird when we saw Anakin as a literal small child next to Padmé a senator in the council knowing they would get together later on, had no idea that Amidala and Padmé were the same person short moment my mind was just blown, Episode 1 and 3 I understood the story I think alright but I was a bit lost in episode 2…I literally only knew about Order 66, “Do it” and the whole last fight
Sequel trilogy:
So….I know a lot from the force awakens so not much new stuff buuuut Han Solos death was nice
POE DAMERON MY BELOVED
I thought that vault where the tentacle things were stored were IN the millennium falcon so that’s new
There weren’t multiple Leia temporary general replacements in the films right??
Was there actually a prison break in the movies???
There is a weird hole on Lukes getaway Island and you have like a mirror level in it but no idea how that is translated to the movies
WE HAVE TO FIGHT LUKE
WHO THE FUCK IS DJ??
Admiral Holdo?? Times three??
Finn should have become a Jedi
Ep 9 begins and one of teh first characters you see is the live slug reaction slug?? Perfect
Did…did Kylo Ren also just wander into a strange lab like structure and found a Palpetine who was falling apart??
KLAUD THE LIVE SLUG REACTION SLUG WAS ON A MISSION
Poe and Rey are on their own…
Finn didn’t yell to Rey about needing to tell her something
Wait who are those Kylo Ren looking dudes?? I just missed that
…Rose feels like a character that was introduced just so that they could give Finn a female love interest after people started shipping Finn and Poe
Who the fuck is this little droid called D-0 and why is it on my team suddenly - IT CAN TALK?
WHO IS GENERAL PRYDE
LEIA HAD A SABER
GREBE KORORA.?
Knowing now Palpetine once looked more like a normal dude it makes more sense as to how he ever had children (the question is still when the fuck did that happen but…)
Zero idea who the Knights of Ren are or if they ever even appeared outside of Episode 9
YOOOO KYLO RENS SUBTITLES HAVE CHANGED TO BEN SOLO :D
…where did he get that blue lightsaber from though?? Like? And why does Rey also have a blue one?? One of the two is Leias I just always thought she would have another colour other than blue but still….why both blue
So you are telling me Ben and Rey kissed in the movies?? Alright then…the hug was enough
Was there als a BB-9E that got in basically a Mech in the movies
“I don’t like sand” Thanks Anakin
There is the yellow Lightsaber
Conclusion: Rose felt like she was just there as a love interest, genuinely interesting concepts, I feel like I missed a lot because no idea when the Knight of Ren first popped up and all that. Whose lightsabers did they fight with at the end of ep 9?? Finn should have been/become a Jedi like idc. THE LINE SOMEHOW PALPETINE RETURNED WASN’T THERE. Live Slug Reaction. I think if they had maybe set up that Snoke and the first orders plan was to resurrect Palpetine from the beginning and then Ben and Rey killing Snoke would have set something free that resulted in Palpetine being alive after his death would have worked better. Why did they have to include a Romance between Ben and Rey in the movies like…alright I guess
Final Conclusion: Had a good time :) Also liked most of the main characters and parts of the story though I certainly would have changed let’s say quite a bit but ey from what I got from the games: It was alright. Definitely gonna go watch the movies now so….who knows maybe I’ll become a Star Wars fan
Fun Fact: Lego Star Wars the complete Saga was the only way I knew anything back then about Star Wars. Kids in school would either play Star Wars or Harry Potter during break, so I had barely any knowledge about either of those but just bluffed my way through that. Also when I was young two kids were talking about the (real life) Lego Set for the death Star and how expensive it is, in my imagination I just had a giant Star from Mario in my head as to how this “death Star” looked.

❣️ Light On Me - this show captured my heart and owns everything that I am dsjfhkd 😭 I love everything from the production quality to the pacing and the acting - all the characters are adorable and don’t even get me started on Shinwoo dhfjkdl 🥺 One of the best korean bls so far for sure.
❣️ The Best Story - This really took me by surprise because I never expected a show like this to happen, let alone for it to be so well done. I’m still trying to figure out the purpose of this as a project lol bc it’s kind of random but either way I really liked it! The acting was good & War was killing it as always👌🏻 I just wish it didn’t have such a cliffhanger ending. But maybe there’s more to come...
❣️ Don’t Say No Special ep - I really liked it and it made me super excited for Don’t Say No!!! 💕
👎🏻 Y-Destiny - I have to put it on this list again because the finale was a crime jkddsdf. It was a huge cringefest and I feel very bad for the actors being put through this..... It was pretty bad.
