Melkus RS 1000, 1969. An East German sports car that was powered by a tuned, mid-mounted Wartburg 3-cylinder 2-stroke 992cc  engine. In total 101 cars were made with production ending in 1979. In 2006 15 replicas were made to celebrate the car's 50th anniversary but an attempt to make a successor Melkus RS 2000 failed when the company was registered as insolvent.

Honestly kinda weird what an almost 60 year period of de facto de-christianization in a language and culture otherwise steeped in centuries of Christianity does to a mf.
Like ur always referring to some dude when you swear and curse but you bet your ass most of the ppl around you have never seen a church from the inside unless they took a tour to look at the colorful altars and architecture. It's just history to you. Pretty buildings etc. You don't spare a single thought towards Jesus bc his birthday isn't named after him in your language and his resurrection is linked to pre-Christian traditions that are way more fun than going to church. You forget he exists. You celebrate his days either way, but all of that happens in the shadow of the gods he replaced. God and Jesus are little more than expletives to you.
Still it feels like something was taken from you and you don't know what it is??

Wartburg 353, 1966. An East German car dating from the communist era, the 353 was based on an old DKW design and was powered by a 2-stroke engine with only seven major moving parts: three pistons, three connecting rods and a crankshaft. AWE, who made the Wartburg, failed to survive the reunification of Germany and the brand disappeared in 1988.

Why does water have an -r in English and its West Germanic sister languages (such as German Wasser and Dutch water), while it has an -n in Swedish vatten and its North Germanic sisters (such as Norwegian vatn and Danish vand)? In Proto-Germanic, their common ancestor, some case forms of this word were built on the -r stem, while others used the -n stem. The daughter language families generalised one of these stems. See the infographic for more information.

COMING OUT (1989) dir. Heiner Carow Philipp, a closeted high-school teacher is dating a female colleague, Tanja, to keep up appearances. One night, by 'accident' he stumbles into a gay bar, meets and promptly falls in love with a young man named Matthias. Transformed by this love he is no longer afraid to face up to who he is. This was the last East German film released to the public prior to the German reunification, and the only gay-themed feature film made by DEFA. (link in title)
