Heya folks n friends! Today on our LotR cooking series, we're going to be making something inspired by Mrs. Maggot, wife of Farmer Maggot. Originally we were going to do a cream of mushroom soup, but the idea of adding meat as a cheeky lil joke on their last names was too good to pass up. In my mind meat goes better with thin soups than creamy ones.
And thus Mrs. Maggots Meat 'N Mush Stew was born.
(As always you can find the cooking instructions and full ingredient list under the break-)
MY NAMES CROSS NOW LETS COOK LIKE ANIMALS
SO, “what goes in to Mrs. Maggots Meat 'N Mush Stew?” YOU MIGHT ASKFor the stew portion itself we're going to be using a hearty base, aiming for a layering of flavors. If you feel comfortable making a roux, feel free to do so, but I did not due to energy levels and thus the flour in this recipe is only used for searing the meat before its added to the pot.
Cubed beef
Flour
Peanut oil
Beef stock
Dried porcini mushrooms
Carrots, chopped
Onion, diced
Garlic, crushed
Scallion, chopped
Bay leaf
Salt and pepper
Ground red pepper
Cumin
Zatarins gumbo file
For the other mushrooms, were going to cook them separate and throw them in at the end (but they'll have friends to keep them company!!).
Cremini mushrooms, sliced
Half an onion
Carrots
Garlic
Salt and pepper
Thyme
Olive oil
This took about 4 hours in total. If you have a slow cooker itd probably be easier to use that, but as is isn't too bad either. I mostly worked on commission stuff in the kitchen in-between stirring. "The best food is the one you don't have to make, the second best food is the one you don't have to think while making."
AND, “what does Mrs. Maggots Meat 'N Mush Stew taste like?” YOU MIGHT ASK
HOT HOT HOT
Tastes like walking from the cold into the cramped but cozy bar your friend works at
Meat was so tender and juicy, melts in your mouth. Makes you cry
It wanst actually carmelization but the onions had a hint of tasting caramelized
Mushrooms- a strong umami flavor with a bit of smokeyness
Once you get that Perfect level of gumbo file, it just makes every other element stick out more
Like an energy booster for the ingredients
A spotlight on the bay leaf, and oils, and spices
. If you don't want to use beef, feel free to use vegetable stock instead and replace the cubes with strips of king oyster mushrooms. Exclude the flour but still cook them in the pan. . this isnt officially part of the recipe since im not sure itd be 'on theme', but feel free to start your rice cooker around the 3 hour mark so you can have some hot rice ready for serving as filler.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I was looking through food and food mentions in LotR, Mrs.Maggot just stook out to me. 'Queen amongst farmers wives' is both really sweet and a fuckin killer description. What a legend. I wanted to do something based on her and our two options were either beer, bacon or raw mushrooms. Beer while very appealing is also not something you can whip up in a day, while raw mushrooms have a chance of killing my beloved readers. I don't want to talk about me and bacons sordid past.
And so as praise to this funky farmer women, may you add this stew to your collection of potpie, lasagna, and roast recipes.
Did i mention i started my first grease fire when making this? Yeah. Don't cover any empty greased pan even if your intent is to keep water from splashing into it.
Anyway, this recipe is a solid 10/10 (with 1 being food that makes one physically sick and 10 being food that gives one a lust for life again.) The partner has already made me pledge to cook it again hehehe
🐁 ORIGINAL RESIPPY TEXT BELOW 🐁
Ingredients:
2 lbs cubed beef
A little bit of flour to 'tumble' the meat in, in a bowl
Peanut oil to sear the beef, as needed
3 kilograms beef stock
28g dried porcini mushrooms
4 carrots, chopped
1 white onion, diced
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 scallion branch, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
Ground red pepper to taste
Cumin to taste
3 bay leafs
A pinch of Zatarins gumbo file
Ingredients… . . TWO:
1 lb cremini mushrooms
Half of a white onion, diced
1 carrot, chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
Salt, pepper, and thyme to taste
Olive oil as needed to pan-fry
Method:
Put the porcini mushrooms into a bowl, add enough warm water to cover. Give them roughly 20 minutes, or until softened and the waters turned color.
Cut the carrots, onion, and garlic.
Get a large pot with a lid, pour in your stock (or water and bouillon cubes). Pour in the porcinis and the mushroom water. Turn the burner to medium-high.
Add your bay leaves, carrots, onion, and garlic to the pot. Add extra salt if you'd like.
Tenderize and cut your beef into roughly 1 inch cubes.
In a small bowl, pour a handful of flour along with pepper, cumin, and ground red pepper. Mix until combined.
Lightly toss each cube of beef in the mixture, get a little coverage on each side.
Heat a frying pan to medium heat and add peanut oil. If using an electric stovetop it will take time to heat up.
Add some of your beef cubes to the pan, don't overcrowd it. Flip to check sides are a light brown with dark brown edges, its good for some pink/red to poke through.
Add beef cubes to the pot when done, careful of splashing.
Keep doing this in batches until all beef cubes are added.
Once the pot has reached a simmer, turn the heat down a few notches and cover.
Set a timer for 4 hours. Taste test every so often. Aim to stir the pot every 10-15 minutes.
(You can do steps 14-21 immediately or optionally wait a bit)
Rinse and dry your cremini mushrooms.
Slice them vertically. Cut the carrots, onion, and garlic.
In a frying pan on medium-low heat, add olive oil, carrots, and onion. Keep the vegetables moving! When they start to change texture, add your cremini mushrooms.
Bring the pan up to medium heat.
Once your mushrooms have cooked off the liquid inside, theyll start turning a deeper brown. Add the garlic. Keep! the! vegetables! Moving!
If the pan gets overcrowded, take some out and set it aside in a bowl. Smaller batches.
This process took roughly 15 minutes, but youll know its done once everything has a nice sear on it and the garlic is brown but not burnt. Add salt, pepper, and thyme to taste.
Set everything aside in a bowl.
Once the 4 hours are up the meat should be cooked all the way through and tender enough to pull apart. Strain the bay leaves out. Cut and add scallions. Add the bowl with cremini mushrooms.
Add a pinch of gumbo file to start, stir and taste test.

Twelve Hours: Chapter 2
Part 2 of 5 of my fic for Ecto Implosion, the DP reverse mini-bang (artists go first, writers go second).
read on: [ao3]
[see all chapters]
Characters: Danny Fenton, Harriet Chin, GIW (mentioned a lot) Tags: Identity Reveal, Flashbacks, Runaway Danny Fenton, Angst WC: 1937 Summary: When the GIW revealed Danny to the world, the only thing he could do was run. Run and run and run until he escaped to Chicago, trying desperately to disappear. Too bad it didn't work.
****
“I see you reacted to that,” Harriet said. Where Danny expected that greedy journalist spark behind her eyes that he’d grown used to over the years, there was none. Instead, she tilted her head, regarding him in earnest. “I take it you’ve seen this before.”
There was no use in lying. Not when he’d finally come so far as to agree to do this interview. “I’d love to sit here and say that I was the perfect therapy patient, that I never went digging up videos and posts about myself online. But I did. And I watched this interview and others just…I don’t even know. A lot.”
“And what was going through your mind back then when you would watch it?”
Danny didn’t even have to try to put himself back in his younger shoes to feel the spark of rage that shot through his chest. He just hoped that the long exhale that followed didn’t get picked up by the microphone. “I felt angry. And depressed. Yeah, like I wasn’t even human.”
“And yet, you kept watching it,” Harriet observed.
“It’s a cycle, you know?” Danny leaned back, looking up at the bright studio light. Behind it were the ceilings that Danny was sure were white, but looked more like a cream with the warm lights and red walls surrounding them. “I felt so alien. At the time, I mean. Just, so low. And here I had a video of the man who made my life a living hell for so long saying all these things that hurt me. Then I’d get paranoid, so I’d go reading the comments and watching more videos. I just had to hear everyone say why they thought I was a horrible monster, I guess. It was addictive. Sort of…” He almost stopped himself there. “Sort of like this weird self-harm cycle.”
“Did seeing that video today bring any of those emotions back?”
“I’d be lying if I said no.”
****
10:00:00
Danny touched down on the pavement and released his hold on his invisibility. The alley was humid, and with the dumpster next to him, it smelled revolting. A rat must have died in it.
But that was exactly the sort of problem he needed right now—one that ensured an empty alley. If anyone caught him triggering his detransformation, he’d be dead.
Bright rings flashed over his eyes, and he stepped away from the dumpster. He rolled his shoulders, sore from holding his arms in position during his long flight over. His hoodie was still scruffed, and his eyes were probably surrounded by deep circles, but—maybe with a sick sort of internal sarcasm—he realized that those attributes wouldn’t make him stand out so much here.
Of course, that didn’t keep the terror from freezing his legs in place.
No, this was his only option now, as counterintuitive as it seemed. Rural communities were too tight-knit, too interested in newcomers. And worse, they were full of anti-ghost sentiment. There was no way he could hide in a small community, no matter how hard he tried. It would only take one person, one old neighbor who watched too much anti-ghost news, to pick up their phone and turn him in.
But here in Chicago, it would be safer. He wasn’t Danny Fenton here; he was just…another kid, another runaway, another sore sight people quickly averted their gaze from.
He had everything he could need here. Places to hide, stores to grab things from with the help of his powers, and corners to sleep in. Even if someone recognized him, he could easily slip into the crowd and disappear.
He took a shuddering breath, unlocking the muscles in his calves. He would be okay. Everything would be okay.
Internally, that mantra sounded more pleading than not.
He threw his hoodie over his hair and walked toward the sidewalk. Maybe doing something with his hair wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Should he dye it, maybe? That’s what people did in the movies, right?
Though, how would he turn his black hair brown? He would probably have to bleach it first. Damn, Sam would be such a good resource to have right now.
He almost swiped his phone from his pocket to call her. Almost. But he resisted.
Now at the precipice of the alley, he peered out to the bustling street before him. It was full of people shuffling to and fro, cars zooming by in the street, voices and shouts dancing in the open air. Packed around him were skyrises, proudly showing off their clean windows and pristine bricks.
Danny had come here last summer, he realized. His parents had taken him to the Sears Tower. His dad had complained about the “normal people” clothes they were forcing him to wear (even though he still managed to defy the odds by sporting a Hawaiian T-shirt, much to Jazz’s chagrin).
Jazz and his mom had been so excited to see the top of the tower. Jazz even had her pink Polaroid on her—a birthday gift from their parents. She wanted to get a family photo of all of them with the skyline in the background.
Danny had complained, of course. As the younger sibling, it was his job to complain about the silly tower and his sister’s silly “fun” historical facts about it.
“Who cares how many windows it has, Jazz?” He remembered asking.
Jazz had cared, though. She’d cared enough to tell him. But…he couldn’t remember what it was she said. He might never get the chance to hear her talk about the dumb tower again.
A sting began knocking on the corners of his eyes, and he blinked, forcing it away. His parents weren’t here this time. Neither was Jazz, or Sam, or Tucker. He’d probably never see any of them again if the Guys in White had their way.
But no, surely the GIW wouldn’t chase him around forever, would they?
He thought back to the way they’d cornered him at school. All the officers and agents in the school’s main office surrounding him as soon as he stepped in. All the guns pointing at him. And then Operatives O and K stepped out from beside Principal Ishiyama’s desk, their sunglasses burning holes in his skull.
“Game over, Phantom,” Operative K had said.
Danny had taken a step back at that, locking eyes with Ishiyama who seemed unable to do anything but stare back at him in a mixture of disbelief and…fear.
Danny crouched down, his skull between his hands. “Stop thinking about that,” he hissed, curling his fingers to tug at his hair.
He wasn’t at the school anymore. He was in Chicago, alone, at the edge of some sidewalk in the Loop because he needed to blend into a crowd, and he needed to find some place that had food because he was so tired, so hungry, he was running and he was done and broken and—
“Jesus!” A pair of high-heeled boots stumbled over him, nearly sending his skull straight into the concrete.
He caught himself with his palms, his knees only barely scraping the ground. He hadn’t even felt the woman make contact with him. He must have been too caught up in his head.
That was dangerous. He would have to stop thinking so much.
“You okay?” a masculine voice asked.
Danny turned his head up, a polite response ready on his lips. But when he saw the tall man reaching out to the fur-coated woman, her handbag outstretched in his palm, the response died in Danny’s throat.
The woman accepted the purse with a breathy, “Yes, I’m fine. Thank you.”
“Watch where you’re going. These addicts are everywhere these days,” the man said.
“Right, sorry,” the woman said, but she wasn’t talking to Danny either. Instead, she nodded to the man and continued on down the street.
Leaving Danny there, still on the sidewalk, his whole chest now emptied of any sort of feeling.
Because…right.
That was just it.
Right.
He surveyed the crowd, but no one gave him a second glance in return. And why would they, in his scruffy hoodie, stained jeans, pale face, and dirty fingers? He wasn’t one of them. He could never be one of them again.
He should have been upset. He had been distressed just moments ago, but not anymore. There was simply nothing left to feel other than blank, white, nothing.
Dragging his hand across the sidewalk, he picked himself back up, slowly, because he was tired and no one was stopping to help him anyway. Who cared how long he took? It wasn’t like he had anywhere to go!
Across the street, a billboard screen dissolved, changing the advert to a familiar metallic green background he’d become hideously acquainted with. On one side of the billboard was an artist's rendition of Phantom with dark, sickly gray skin, vicious eyebrows, and piercing green eyes. His mouth was missing, only adding to his menacing glare.
No, it was more than that. He didn’t just look angry, he looked downright dangerous.
As if to drive that point home, the advert circled and slashed face in red. Beside the Phantom imagery were the bold, green words reading, “ANTI-ECTO LAWS. Don’t let the ghosts haunt you, call the GIW.”
The slogan taunted him, just as it had been doing since the laws began passing. And what was once just a minor annoyance—just another thing to add to his growing list of bullshit to deal with—had festered into a scar on his whole existence. That stupid slogan had transformed into an entire media campaign featuring him as a monster with an impending future he could only dream of escaping. And he had to live with all that, all their mockery in his ear saying that no matter how far he flew, or how well he hid, he would never be free.
He turned away from the advert and began walking down the sidewalk. Countless people passed by him alone and in groups. Some bustled by dressed in suits with phones to their ear, and others laughed to each other, walking in the hurry of someone on vacation.
But if there was one commonality in the passersby, it was that everyone gave him a wide berth. Not because he was a stranger or even because he was Fenton Phantom, but because he was just one of those people. A social outcast, someone who—with hardly a touch—wouldn’t just sully their clothes, but their very souls.
He turned another corner, and another billboard—one in print instead of on a screen—glowered back at him. This one was like the other, with the silhouette of Phantom slashed out in red as if to tell the world, “We may not have him yet, but we will soon.”
“You won’t,” Danny said, not caring if anyone saw him talking to himself. He was just a homeless addict anyway, wasn’t he? One of the crazies? “You won’t get me.”
“You can’t make those kinds of promises to yourself,” the billboard seemed to say back to him, its deep, derisive voice nearly identical to Operative O’s.
“I can. I’m smarter than you and your whole stupid organization. You had me surrounded, and I still managed to escape from you. Nothing you try will get me.”
The billboard’s laugh reverberated around the street in a show of revolting arrogance. “We underestimated you, child, but we’re a branch of the federal government. We have the money to not make those mistakes twice.”
“You won’t get me,” Danny whispered.
“That’s not up to you to decide.”

April bullies day 23 - Lusting for you
Tumblr media
Pairing: bully!Draken x reader; Genre: TokRev AU, smut, one-shot; Warnings: 18+, vaginal sex, cunnilingus, bullying, oral (f receiving) posessive Draken; Note: This is a happy birthaday present to @crimsonqueen398 and a thanks to you for supporting me when I needed it!!!
Ken Ryuguji, commonly known as Draken was your one true love. Well, he didn’t know it yet but you were confident that one day he’d… notice you? Yeah, right, like that’d ever happen. But whatever the case you attended the same high school. You were both the same age and studied at the same classroom. And the unfortunate part that the love between you was one-sided (not that Draken was even aware of the fact).
Before a test you put an anonymous sticky note on his table wishing him good luck. But as soon as he came back to his seat and read it he ripped it to shreds and threw it in the trash can. After the test he intentionally bumped into your shoulder making you drop all of your books. He must’ve known it was me, you thought sadly. Though weirdly enough ever since that time he would throw nasty glares at you while Takemichi walked you home. Luckily he lived right next to your apartment.
Since your first plan had failed you turned to plan B, namely seduction. You handpicked short skirts, off the shoulder top and your favorite nikes. After you were finished you asked Takemitchi to rate your outfit and he said a 10 out of 10 while blushing. Unfortunately, Draken wasn’t blushing nor reacting any other way. He wasn’t even looking at you and would sternly go past you.
After lessons you saw how he yet again climbed on his motorcycle and rode away through the dark district. With all your willpower you bid Takemichi goodbye and went yourself through the shady street. There were many gangsters around and you, walking in your near-skimpy outfit, were an eye-candy ready to be eaten. “What’s up lil rabbit? Ran into the wrong whole?” a man wearing gang uniform said, walking closer to you. You didn’t even get to response as an engine roared behind you. Draken. “Come on fuckers, you’re missing the meeting.” He shouted at them before throwing another nasty glare at you.
You were angry and out of options, shouting in your pillow. Right then you came up with a plan – you’d return to that shady place and ask for some type of narcotics – pills, cocaine or whatever you could get, taking 1 million yen with you. Though this time you wore your white crop top and matching sweatpants so that those gangsters wouldn’t mistake you for a whore.
“Back again huh, little rabbit?” one of them said. “Look, I just need something to dull my mind.” You said a bit anxiously in order to make yourself a believable addict. Once again you were erupted by the same engine as the previous day, but this time Draken got off of his motorcycle and ordered you to leave. “Fuck you Kenny boy. What are you, my mother?” you shouted back. The men behind you started giggling but with a single look from Draken they stopped,
The blonde picked the 1 million yen you had in your hand as you were prepared to buy some drugs, shoved it in his pocket and ordered the men to follow him. But before they left one of them put a small pack of weed in your pocket. By this point you were even more frustrated and it even became hard for you to concentrate on your studies.
But after your today’s lessons you were so shocked when Draken grabbed you by the wrist and dragged you to the P.E. hall from where he proceeded to drag you inside the equipment room. “I’m sick and tired from your stunts. Why can’t you get it inside that thick head of yours that there’s nothing between us!” he screamed at you, punching the wall behind him. “I’ll leave you be to think about your shit while I get some peace.” He said before walking out and locking you inside of the dark room.
Obviously, you banged your arms against the wooden door, apologized for every single thing you could think of that might’ve upset him, but no response came and so you began to cry. Your back slid down the cold wall and with your arms wrapped around your knees you were finally able to release all the frustration and sadness you had been feeling for months already.
You were released after hours by Takemichi who had found you after getting a tip from one of the students who had seen you with Draken. That night he stayed at your place to console you. “Come on Y/n, just get him out of your head and move on. I’m sure there are bunch of guys who’d date you.” He said. It was sort of a stepping stone for you to finally suck it up and let Draken go. Not that that was easy. You skipped school for a whole week, sitting home, eating ice cream and watching one romance movie after the other (Titanic was the first one on your list).
On Sunday morning you were woken by a loud knock on your door. “Coming!” you shouted back in hopes that the person would stop ringing those knocks in your ears. Damn Takemichi, Imma murder you for waking me up this early, you thought. You were left disappointed when it was DRAKEN on the other side of the door, making you think that you were still dreaming.
“May I come in.” he asked. “No!” you replied and tried to shut the door, but he put his hand on it. “Please Y/n let’s talk.” You didn’t answer but simply walked away. “What’s there to talk about? I think you made everything clear last Friday.” You said, slowly walking back to your bedroom with Draken hot on your trails. “This.” He turned you around and kissed you with all of his passion, eyes closed and hands wrapped around your midsection. Yeah, this is definitely a dream, you thought. But were left disappointed once again when you felt him lifting you up against his body, holding you by the meat of your ties and his tongue entered your mouth.
“What are…hmph” it wasn’t easy to speak when your ex-crush had his tongue down your throat. He continued the way to your bedroom and threw you on the bed. The impact made you more dizzy than the sleepiness so you were unable to react fast enough when Draken was on top of you kissing your neck.
“nghhh, why are you doing this t-to me-e?” you did your best to force out the words which proved to be hard with Draken licking all of your sensitive spots. “I’ve been wanting you for a long time.” That was impossible, he must be mad! Why else he would think that way about you? “Every single fucking time when you pranced around in those tight-fitted jeans, those crop tops leaving your belly open for everyone to see and drool over, all those skimpy outfits you worse…it drew so much attention that I got pissed off from fighting off all of those guys.” He growled in your ear before tracing wet kisses down your exposed tummy. “I locked you up so that you could think on your mistakes and be kept away from prying eyes but that damn Takemitchy got you out and it sickens me.” He said, resting his hands on the band of your shorts.
At this point everything clicked in your mind – you showed much skin when walking around school which might’ve made him mad and rip your note to shreds out of anger for other guys staring at you during the class. Not to mention when you walked to that dangerous street and showed yourself off to gang members. But it still didn’t justify why he wouldn’t tell you that he liked you in the first place.
You felt your shorts being slowly peeled off, making you squeal out of embarrassment. “Don’t worry pretty, this pussy is mine anyways.” He brought his face closer to your bare cunt and dived in as deep as he could, trying get your walls as slick as possible since it would be trouble for you to take his length in otherwise.
“Ahhhh Draken” “Ken-chin.” He corrected. “Call me Ken-chin when we’re alone.” Not that it was much easier to spell it when he was eating your pussy like a starved beast. “Sweet Jesus Ken-chin, I can’t take this for long. I haven’t…” before you could finish the sentence you already came, leaving Draken surprised. It was then that he realized you were a virgin, untouched by any other man. “Good my little princess. Since no one’s had you I’ll be your first and only or otherwise…” he stopped to lick upp some cum from your pulsing walls. “…I’ll have to kill a lot of people cause remember…*lick* you’re fucking mine and no one else’s.” with that he got rid of your clothing as well as his own and got you facing him on his lap.
“I’ll start this slowly princess, since you’re still new to this.” He said before slowly lowering you on his cock. Your face twisted in pained expression and you winced from the stretch so you held onto Draken for support. “You’re doing great my princess. Yes, just like that.” His arms held you lovingly and helped you move up and down his shaft so that you could get used to the foreign feeling.
“I-I can take it now Ken-chin.” You gave him the green light and he began to bounce you on his cock, all the while his face buried in your soft breasts. It felt so nice that he decided to do it face to face rather than taking you from the back since you could also see how good you made him feel, not mention it gave you the privilege to entangle your hands in his blonde locks.
“Damn princess, if you won’t stop flexing your pussy like that I’ll cum in a second.” You weren’t sure of what he was talking about, but you could make up references as to what he meant. Even if you were flexing your walls it was unintentional since you hadn’t had sex in your entire life.
“Fuck don’t..” he said before cumming inside of you, with you being not far from him too. He collected you in his arms and went to the shower to clean your bodies. “Next time you’re sitting on my face so that I can suck on that baby pussy of yours properly.” He promised and kissed you again and again.
From then on your trip to school and back home was at the back of his motorcycle and he wouldn’t let you go alone or with Takemichi even if you begged him. He also brought you through the dangerous district, making sure that everybody saw to whom you belonged to.
You thanked to the gods that you didn’t become pregnant at the first time as you were partially oblivious to plan b or contraception at all as you were never in need of it, but Draken, living out his days in a brothel, had loads of experience on it so he kept you well informed. It turned out that he had also worked hard with his gang to sell drugs and from the money he had got from the business he was able to afford a house for just the two of you plus, after the first month of living together he gave you 1million yen as a present along with a gold dragon pendant intervined around the letter D.
On the dark summery nights you’d be sat on Draken’s motorcycle as he’d be on one knee, eating you out for your pleasure and his. “Ken-chin I-I’m cumming.” You mewled before you came all over his face, some of it also wetting his shirt and jacket. Despite your pleas he wouldn’t stop. “Come on little princess, I’m sure you can take another one!”

You didn't realize that the day could already feel long at 7:30 AM until you had to raise your younger siblings.
"Let's go! Up and at 'em!" You try to sound chipper as you rouse your 10-year-old sister and 8-year-old brother. "Time for school, you little gremlins!"
Annie squints at you, grimacing at your wake-up call. "Five more minutes," she grumbles, pulling the covers to her chin.
"You said that five minutes ago," you remind her, exasperated. "C'mon, I can't be late for work again or Keith is gonna fire me."
Your sister begrudgingly obeys, and you breathe a sigh of relief before battling the demon that is your little brother. "Wake up, Nicky," you call out, only to be met by a pillow chucked at your head. It narrowly misses your glasses, and you march over to him angrily.
"Get. Up," you hiss, wrenching the blankets off of the pajama-clad boy, "or I will loudly announce to your class that you're late because you wet the bed." The threat works, with Nicky dressed and downstairs in a flash.
Your mom is in the kitchen, talking to Nicky while running around to gather her wallet and keys.
"Ask your sister to make you pancakes," she's saying absently. "I'm sure she won't mind."
You clear your throat. "Actually, today's menu includes cereal or...cereal," you report. There's no time for anything beyond that, anyway.
"But I...want...pancakes!" Nicky cries, stomping his feet on the tile floor.
Your mom rolls her eyes as Annie strolls in. "Oh, and don't forget to pick them up from school today."
"Got it," you reply tersely, pouring some Cheerios into a bowl despite Nicky's wailing protests. She's out the door before you can say anything else.
Tumblr media
After school drop-off, which somehow happens on time, you drive yourself to work. Pulling on your ugly Family Video vest, you make your way into the store.
Wednesdays are the worst because you're stuck with Keith for the day. Steve has off today, and Robin doesn't come in until you leave, which means your shift will drag.
"Morning," you mutter. Keith unsurprisingly doesn't even respond. He barely says a word to you until an hour into the day.
"Oh, I need you to cover the first half of Robin's shift," he tells you casually. "She called in sick and Steve can't make it in until 4."
You shake your head. "Sorry, Keith," you say, though you're not the least bit apologetic. "I pick up my siblings from school, remember?"
Your manager gives a little laugh. "Okay, well, how about this," he leans in closer to you with a sneer. "You cover the shift, or you never work another day here again."
"But...I need this job." Your mouth goes dry, and you feel your palms moisten with sweat. Everything the kids needed beyond food, clothes, and shelter--whatever your mom was legally obligated to provide--fell on you. You'd just spent a third of your last paycheck sending Annie on a field trip to the zoo.
Keith just shrugs, heading into the break room to snag a bag of chips from the vending machine.
Fuck. You can't lose your job, but you also can't afford after-school childcare. Your chest tightens, making you feel like you're breathing through a coffee stirrer. Blinking back tears, you run through your options: you can leave work and hope that Keith is in a forgiving mood, you can use the extra cash you make to pay for the childcare, or you could beg your mom to pick up Annie and Nicky. The fact that you'd have to plead with her to take care of her own kids leaves a sour note in your stomach.
"Hey, Y/N!" a familiar voice pulls you away from your thoughts. You glance up to see your best friend, Eddie Munson, burst through the doors. "Sorry it's a little late, but could you waive the--whoa, what's wrong, sweetheart?"
You can't hold back anymore, and the dam bursts. Tears stream down your face and plop onto your shoulders. "It's t-too much," you sob. "I can't k-keep running myself ragged like this." You explain your problem through heaving breaths, Eddie rubbing your back comfortingly.
"Why don't I pick up the little rug rats?" he asks gently. "I can stay with them until you get home."
You shake your head. "No, I couldn't ask you to do that, Eds," you murmur.
"You're not," he replies with a laugh. "Technically, I'm asking you."
You offer him a wry smile. "Are you sure? I don't wanna put you out."
"Positive," Eddie says. "Let me do this for you, okay?"
"Okay," you agree hesitantly. "Pick-up's at 2:30; if you get there later than 2:45, they'll charge for after-school care."
Eddie contorts his face, making you giggle. "Jeez, really? Don't worry, I'll be there at 2:30 sharp." He gives a little salute, and you roll your eyes playfully.
"I owe you," you promise him, taking the VHS from his ringed fingers. You feel a spark of electricity as your hands touch.
"Nah," he smiles, "just waive that late fee for me, will ya?"
Tumblr media
After your extended shift, you trudge through the front door. Dinner tonight will probably be something from a can, and as much as you can barely stomach the thought of Spaghetti-os or Chef Boyardee, you're too exhausted for anything more strenuous.
The scent of burgers and fries wafts past your nose. When you walk into the kitchen, you see Eddie sitting at the table with Annie and Nicky. Your siblings have kids' meals, and Eddie's chowing down on a bacon cheeseburger. The three of them are laughing so hard you'll worry they'll choke.
"Y/N!" Eddie calls out excitedly. "You're home!"
"Yup!" You muster up a tired smile. "You're relieved of your babysitting duties, sir."
Nicky speaks up from his seat. "Eddie was just telling us about how he broke his leg trying to crowd surf at one of his concerts." The mention of the story sends him into another fit of giggles.
"I remember that," you say. "What were you thinking?"
"I wasn't," Eddie responds, shaking his frizzy mane. He looks over at the grease-soaked bag on the table. "Oh, here--this one's for you." He pulls out a burger and a side of curly fries. "I specifically asked for curly, because those are your favorite."
Your heart melts at the kind gesture. "Thank you," you murmur. "How much did it cost?" you ask, reaching into your bag for your wallet.
"Um...seven million dollars," Eddie replies cheekily.
"I'm serious!"
"So am I!" But he can't help but chuckle. "I'm tellin' ya, this inflation thing is out of control."
You shelve your response, too tired to argue with him now. Instead, you turn to your siblings. "Did you two finish your homework?" Their silence answers for them. "Go to it; let me know if you need any help." They scamper into the living room, leaving you and Eddie alone.
"You're free to get home, if you want," you mutter, taking a bite of your burger. It's the best thing you've ever tasted. "Or you can stay. I don't wanna keep you..."
"Do you even know how amazing you are?" he blurts out without thinking. "I never met someone who did so much for other people."
"I mean," you stammer, "I-I kinda have to." You gesture to the living room. "My mom doesn't take care of them like she should."
"But that's the thing," Eddie insists. "You shouldn't have to. You shouldn't have had to drop out of college to pick up extra shifts at work so you can pay for their stuff. You shouldn't have to be at your mom's beck and call for free childcare. You shouldn't have to constantly pick up the pieces when she makes mistake after mistake."
You gaze at the ground, unable to meet his big brown eyes. "I guess I just want to be the big sister I wish I had when I was their age," you admit. "I wish there was someone looking out for me the way I do for them."
"I'll take care of you," Eddie says softly. "That's all I've ever wanted, if you'll let me."
"It's not just me, though," you tell him. "It's me and Annie and Nicky. At least until they're old enough to take care of themselves."
"Okay, so then I'll take care of the three of you." He says it without any hesitation, like he's been waiting for you to ask. "I can help out with pick-ups, and dinners, maybe throw together a PB&J sandwich for their lunches..."
"Why?" you utter suddenly. "Why would you do that for me...for us?"
Eddie rests a hand on your thigh. "Because I love you," he confesses. "and it breaks my heart watching you give so much of yourself to others and not getting the same in return."
You're stuck on his initial statement. "You...love me?" you squeak out. Surely he just means as a friend, right?
He nods. "Love you so much; always have, always will." And he leans into you, his plush lips meeting yours for a soft kiss. The hand not on your thigh reaches up to cup your cheek. "Was...was that okay?"
You nod breathlessly. "It was more than okay, Eddie. And...I love you, too." It feels so good to say, and even better when his face splits into a grin.
"Really?"
"Mhm," you say, your smile matching his. "Always have, always will."

Woooooo psychiatry hot take time!!!
I'm just gonna say it, I'm pro (educated) self diagnosis atleast to a degree, although my reasons don't apply to all places in the world so keep that in mind.
I come from a country with a massive issue with a lack of medical professionals ESPECIALLY in my city, it's not uncommon to find hospitals that are dangerously understaffed, the only hospital in my city of almost one million people has one emergency unit with typically only around 9 people and the wait times for urgent care on the LEAST busy days are 9-10 hours if you're lucky. And for any kind of medical problem physical or mental even if you have money for something like specialised care you will still most likely have to go a two day drive just to find someone who isn't fully booked. People are dying because of this crisis even those on disability insurance and nothing is really being done about it.
I was born sick and have been going through this medical system my entire life, and another issue I have noticed due to that is incredibly wide spread because in my country especially, doctors are basically being taught they shouldn't believe afab people who are looking for help. It is to a point where 1 third of the afab people who have managed to finally get a booking in with a doctor, some travelling for litteral days just for some kind of help have been dismissed or straight up turned away due to sexism. The likely hood of being turned away increases significantly if you are POC.
People often forget that diagnosis isn't an end goal, it's not just a label for the sake of a label, it's a tool. A tool to help you navigate and approach recovery. And yes the ideal situation is to have a good doctor who can help you navigate that process but unfortunately that's not the case for all of us. Through educated self diagnosis (often through years of constant study) as a afab POC I managed to accurately and safely self medicate for pretty much all of my current diagnosed conditions on average 5 years before I managed to get a doctor to even CONSIDER checking. (The only acception to this is ADHD because I was like 7 when I got that diagnosis)
I'm sick of seeing people getting lectured for trying to help their selves in the time being because currently medical care isn't available to them. I hate the idea that you shouldn't even try digging into your mental health problems or even recognise they exist until you get the magical approval of a medical professional because speaking from experience those ideas HELD ME BACK in my recovery because I thought that researching my issues automatically made me a faker and when I did finally get a psychologist and they asked if I already had an idea of what the issue was I refused to give them any of my own extensive work I had done myself that could have sped up my diagnostic process tenfold. Even though the effects of self medicating have been incredibly beneficial to my recovery previously
Obviously you need to approach it safely and carefully, you definitely shouldn't try and speak for or over people who are clinically diagnosed etc but I feel like the idea that self diagnosis is inherently harmful 100% of the time is flawed and although yes you will undeniably get things wrong while trying to self medicate so do the actual medical professionals themselves! It's apart of the process and I do recognise how beneficial having a professional to help you is (and if you have the option to do that you definitely should) but I feel like it's rather damaging to brush off those who don't have access too those recourses and simply insist they just deal with it.
Honestly self diagnosis and self medicating saved my life by not only giving me something to hold on and work on while waiting to get medical care but it is the entire reason why I am clinically diagnosed today
Obviously this isn't a data filled analysis on the effects of self diagnosis this is just my opinion mainly rooted from my own life experience so don't take it as some factual information piece please. I might make a continuation to this if anyone has any questions about my thoughts on the topic.

Preview for HOMD Chapter 10
Hey folks! I am very tired and still pretty sick but! I know not how to rest if I am physically able to work soooo. Let's just blame my capricron sun. But now we present! HOMD chapter 10! This is, again, a joint effort with @mocheng-gusto!
---
Shen Yuan was reminded of this last unfortunate fact as he turned off his fifth alarm and read the notification to his most recent message.
✂️: Don’t forget to bring a certain special someone to our date today~
Fuck. Shen Yuan had completely forgotten about that part.
Not about the lunch of course. Yesterday he had been psyching himself up to “meet the family”. He was nervous but not anxious as he was putting together the outfit Mei Kexin had specifically made him buy for this occasion.
And just then was when his package arrived.
Alright yes, he had to admit that after that all other thoughts had exited his brain like an emergency evacuation. But by then he was too out of it thinking of silicone heavenly pillars to do anything but the most mundane tasks to keep himself busy!
Nothing to do about that. Fortunately at some point in the past when he’d been more mindful he’d put enough alarms to make sure he’d wake up with plenty of time to get ready, so he had time for a thorough shower and a quick breakfast, but not for anything more.
He would’ve liked to go on a jog to free himself of any restless energy but… thinking about it, he didn’t think his body would be able to take the impact.
His musings were interrupted by his phone pinging with two new messages.
✂️: And don’t even think you can get out of bringing your man
✂️: Remember how much blackmail material I have and won’t hesitate to use ❤️
Right.
That was the detail he hadn’t accounted for so far. Luo Binghe couldn’t come for quite obvious reasons, and it wasn’t like he had any desires to fess up that he was dating, married, to a mind construct, but he had other options. He’d disappoint his friend and her girlfriend no matter what, but Shen Yuan didn’t want to completely ruin their afternoon.
Good thing he had a Plan B in mind. The problem was that he never informed his Plan B of his participation in this ruse.
No time like the present! Shen Yuan called Shang Qinghua as he was getting rid of all the gross beddings and towels.
The call was picked up on the third ring. “Bro?”
“Free food.” Best to start with his strongest cards. “I’m inviting you to lunch, with plenty of leftovers to bring home.”
Shang Qinghua was silent for a few seconds. “… Are you bribing me?”
Technically. “Are you coming or not?”
“Aww, no need to be so shy about it bro. If you were feeling lonely you could’ve just said so!” Sensing Shen Yuan’s silence as an impatient one, Shang Qinghua was quick to add. “But sure, why not.”
Shen Yuan discreetly let out a sigh of relief. “I’m sending a Didi to your place. You have twenty minutes to get yourself decent and finish whatever you’re doing.”
Shang Qinghua mumbled. “Every day you’re becoming more like your brother.”
“What did you just say?”
“Nothing! Just send me the info and I’ll be down when it arrives.”
“Alright. I’ll meet you there.”
“Whe–” Shen Yuan hung up before he was able to get the full word out. He had a couple of cars to order and a cold shower waiting for him.
-----------
Shen Yuan, because the shopping center was actually closer to downtown due to the somewhat upscale nature of the place, got there first. Shang Qinghua wasn’t too far behind, climbing out of the didi with eyes and something like fear on his face. “Bro, what the fuck?”
“Wardrobe,” Shen Yuan said before grabbing his friend’s arm and pulling him in, putting the little strength he had worked to build to use. “Don’t worry; I’m paying.”
“No shit you’re paying!” Shang Qinghua hissed. “I can’t afford to breathe in here. What the actual fuck is going on? Are you becoming my sugar daddy? Platonic, of course; love you but not like that, bro.”
“Tch, you wish. Besides, I’m straight. I’m just paying for stuff today so don’t question it.”
“What kind of lunch are we going to that apparently requires shopping?!” Shang Qinghua asked quietly, eyes darting from side to side as if a nervous herbivore. Shen Yuan locked eyes with a sales associate in the men’s section and, spotting a sale, the person discretely hurried towards them. “Oh, my God, are you taking me to lunch with your family!? Is Shen Jiu going to be there!?! Bro, I’m noping out of the free food offer if that’s the–”
“No, it’s not with my family, sheesh,” Shen Yuan said through clenched teeth before smiling at the sales associate. In a much more polite tone, he addressed them with, “Hi. My friend here needs appropriate semi-casual attire for brunch. We have a rather immediate deadline and would appreciate your assistance.”
“Of course, sir. If sir could please follow me…” Shang Qinghua was too polite to his fellow service worker to resist their urging, but he did throw Shen Yuan a dirty look as he left him alone. He watched from a distance to be sure that Shang Qinghua didn’t pick anything out that was ridiculous but otherwise left him to it, helpfully avoiding the questions his friend had about this ‘lunch’.
He would find out soon enough as it was.

Fresh Bruises (Josh Lyman x Reader) Part 10
Tumblr media
Y/N couldn’t believe that any of this was happening. She sat on the cool tile floor of the bathroom, her head leaning over the toilet as she vomited what little contents she had left in her stomach. She had been drinking the night before, of course, but not enough that she was hungover, and she prayed that this wasn’t the flu or something like that. But she also thought of another option that could be causing this sickness.
“Y/N,” A voice called as they knocked on the bathroom door.
“Come in,” Y/N groaned.
Donna popped in, her hair and makeup already partially done. “I got the stuff,” She said as she set the plastic bag on the counter. “How are you doing?”
“I’m ok,” Y/N said as she slowly got up and splashed some water on her face.
“And you’re sure this isn’t just some wedding day jitters.” Donna asked as she gently rubbed her back.
A smile spread across Y/N’s face. She couldn’t believe the day had finally come, after months of planning today was the day that she finally married Josh. And now there was a possibility of more excitement.
“No, this is, this is different.” Y/N said as she pulled out a Pedialyte and a pregnancy test.
“Y/N, hun, you gotta hurry up, you still need to get your hair and makeup done.” CJ called.
“I’ll be right out.” Y/N called as she turned to Donna.
“Are you going to be ok?”
“Yeah, of course Donna,” Y/N replied as she started to take the test out of the box.
“Y/N,” Donna said as she reached out and grabbed Y/N’s hand. “Are you going to be ok if this come back negative, I don’t want this to ruin your day.”
Y/N smiled sadly. “I am anticipating it is going to be negative, I mostly just want to double check to make sure I’m not getting Josh sick. I don’t want you to have to take on any more of his work that you already do.”
“Ok, I’ll just be right outside.” Donna said as she closed the door behind her.
“It’s going to be negative, it is going to be negative.” Y/N kept telling herself as she waited for the test. She needed to keep her expectations low or it would end up ruining her day. That was why, when the test came back looking positive, she had to keep staring at it.
“Donna!” She called “CJ, Ainsley!”
All of the girls burst in, dressed in their bridesmaids dresses. “What’s wrong?” CJ asked.
“It’s positive, I mean look at this that is positive right.” Y/N exclaimed tears in her eyes.
All of them looked at the test before screaming and hugging Y/N tightly.
“Oh my god! This is so beautiful.” Ainsley said.
“This can’t be real.” Y/N said her hands shaking as she still had the dance.
“Well, it is and while this is all very exciting, we have even more excitement that we are going to be late for if we do not get your hair and make up started.” Donna said as she started as she ushered Y/N out in the hotel room to get ready.
“You know Claudia is a really great name for a baby.” CJ said causing everyone to laugh.
    ****
Y/N stood in front of the mirror, taking in her appearance. Her dress had off the shoulder straps that hugged her arms as it went into a flower patterned bodice that went into a large princess skirt. Her hair was pinned up with a dark blue comb that Abby Bartlet had lent to her for her something borrowed and something blue. On her wrist she wore a bracelet that Josh’s mother had given to her one christmas, it had been in Josh’s family for generations and it was her something old. For her something new it was something that no one would see but herself and Josh. The new lingerie wore was something she had bought especially for this day.
“Y/N you look so beautiful,” Donna replied tears in her eyes.
“Donna you can’t already be crying, you are going to make me cry.” Y/N replied and CJ quickly handed Y/N a tissue to dab her eyes.
“Josh and you have been through so much, I just can’t believe we are here, and I can’t believe you are pregnant.”
Y/N felt her breath his in her throat as the tears started to well up in her eyes. All she could think about was telling Josh that she was pregnant, she could just imagine the look on his face. And in that moment she could picture their future together with their new family.
“I love you all so much, that you all for being there for me and Josh. You are our family and I am so happy you are all here to share this moment with me.”
All of them hugged again, when there was a knock on the door.
“Alright Y/N, it’s time.” Her wedding planner said and Y/N took a deep breath her stomach filling with butterflies.
“You got this,” CJ smiled as she handed Y/N her bouquet that was filled with white and dark blue flowers that matched the bridesmaid dresses.
As they made their way through the hotel and past their reception area, Y/N really took in the awe of the location and decoration. When Josh had told her they had booked the Hay-Adams hotel for their wedding and reception, she couldn’t believe it. Every since they had first gotten engaged, Y/n had mentioned that her dream location to get married but she had knew how hard it was to get booked. And Ceilia had been amazing with helping her find a wedding planner and helping with some of the homemade decorations. It was the wedding of her dreams. Of course when she was younger she hadn’t imagined that there would be secret service agents at her wedding.
“You look beautiful,” Bartlet said as she appeared near the doors.
“Thank you so much.” She beamed as he held out his arm for her. When thinking about who she wanted to walk her down the aisle, the only person she could think of was the man who had become like a father to both her and Josh. She knew it took some major negotiating with the secret service and she couldn’t be more grateful that it worked out.
“I am so happy for the both of you. You two truly are made for one another.”
“Thank you sir, and thank you for everything you have done for Josh and I. We owe you so much.”
“You don’t owe me a thing, I care about you both deeply, and I want to make sure you are well taken care of.”
He pulled her in for a hug, just as she could hear the music start for her entrance. She had picked the song At Last by Etta James for her entrance, it felt appropriate.
“Are you ready for this?” Bartlet said.
“I’ve never been more ready for anything in my life.” She smiled.
Bartlet nodded and the two secret service agents opened the door.
Her nerves were going crazy when she saw all the people looking back at her, but the minute she locked eyes on Josh all her nervousness went away.
Josh felt his heart skip when he saw Y/N. Instantly this eyes were flooded with tears. He couldn’t express how beautiful she looked and how grateful he was that they had made it to this moment.
“Hi,” Josh whispered as Bartlet handed Y/N off to him.
“Hi Lemon, you look very handsome.” She smiled as she took in his appearance. The man wore suits every day, but some how as he stood in front of her in his dark blue suit, she had never been more attracted to him.
“Let’s get married.” He smiled.
“Let’s do it.”
Josh had asked Leo to officiate the wedding ceremony and Leo did a beautiful job adding in funny stories about the couple. The two had also written their own vows, Josh’s were emotional and funny but full of heart. Y/N’s were powerful and tear jerking but with a lot of humor as well. And before the couple knew it, Leo said the magical words,
“I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride.”
Josh didnt hesitate as he pulled Y/N in for a kiss as the entire room errupted in applause.
“I love you so much Y/N.” He said kissing her again.
“I love you Josh.”
The wedding photos went by in a blur, all Y/N could think about was trying to find the right time to tell Josh. They were just constantly surrounded by people and all she wanted was a moment alone with him to tell him. So when they finally got called out to do their first chance she knew this was her best chance.
The song that Josh and Y/N picked was Crazy Love by Van Morrison, and as they swayed to the lyrics Y/N could feel herself tearing up.
“Mrs Lyman, what are you thinking about.” He asked.
“I have a surprise for you.” She smiled.
“I don’t need anything, I have everything I need right herel.”
“Well, you might need to make room in your heart for someone else.”
Josh looked at her confused. Suddenly she watched his face brighten as it clicked.
“Are you serious?” He asked his voice cracking.
Y/N nodded with a giant smile on her face.
“Oh my god!” Josh gasped as he pulled Y/N into his arms tightly. “We are going to have a baby.”
“We are going to have a baby.” She said and at that moment Y/N felt that she could never be more happy in her whole life.

We’re back with another part to our A/B/O rec list! You can find part one here, part two here, and part three here. And since there are so many incredible A/B/O fics out there, we plan to do more parts in the future. If you enjoy our rec lists, please be sure to like and reblog this post to help spread the word. Happy reading!
1) Press Into My Bones | Explicit | 2121 words
“What the fuck is wrong with you,” he hisses, half annoyed, half aroused.
Harry only hums in lieu of a reply, his eyes not even open yet.  Bastard. His mate is a bastard.
2) You Fit Me Better | Explicit | 3854 words
Louis moves back to Cheshire with no prospects and lacking a laundry machine for his apartment. At the laundromat, he meets Harry, a meddlesome alpha who smells divinely enough to ease his anxiety. When Louis goes back home, he finds out he switched clothing with Harry, meaning he needs to meet him again to give it back.
3) Pits Of Love | Explicit | 3936 words | Sequel
Harry smells Louis' sweat for the first time after they've moved in together. His alpha goes a bit wild.
4) Unfortunate Fortunes | Not Rated | 9793 words
There are three stages of touch deprivation. Stage one is very mild, stage two leads to itchy skin and restless nights, but stage three is the worst. Omegas with stage three touch deprivation, rarely survive because the only cure for it is finding your true mate.
Louis Tomlinson is an omega with stage three touch deprivation and Harry Styles is his new alpha neighbour who also happens to be a famous boxer-not that Louis knows.
5) Don’t Know If I Could Ever Live Without | Explicit | 14140 words
“We’ve come up with a solid solution. You’re not going to like it.”
“What is it?” Louis narrows his eyes suspiciously, glancing at a visibly enthusiastic Liam.
“What if you pretended to be an Alpha?” Zayn suggests.
6) No Lemon Drops No Bubblegum | Explicit | 14797 words
They never interacted in that one semester, in that one class, and never were put in the same group, never sat close to each other.
Then again, it’s not like Louis was hoping it’ll turn to something more. Just a fleeting crush, that he’ll get over once he stops seeing him every week.
Except he hasn’t stopped, he’s still thinking about it once in a while. What’s Harry Styles doing today? Has he cut his hair? Does he still eat scones for breakfast every Wednesday? He got his answers now, at least about the state of his hair. Harry’s hair is a lot shorter than the last he remembers, it curls around his ear, framing his square jaw nicely. He’d have to ask about the scone next time. If there’s ever a next time.
7) Tennis Court | Explicit | 18285 words
Nearly every single Monday, a new wave of gossip about Styles appeared in Louis’ office, like a dysfunctional and very thirsty clockwork. Because nearly every single Monday, a new omega freshly out of their heat had to tell how fantastic their weekend with the alpha was.
And all thanks to Louis' office mating cycle system, which consisted of a database of employees who needed partners for their heat/ruts. It was a practical and very useful system; employees checked the people in it and had to pick three of them from the list of candidates to spend their cycles with—just in case one of the three was unavailable for those days, they still had at least two options secured. His first year working there, Louis made the huge mistake of putting Styles as one of his options. Styles, of course, never made himself available for him, not even once.
8) Butterflies, The Beautiful Kind | Explicit | 18401 words
Prompt 36: Louis is a single parent with a child who is terrified of doctors. However, one day, the kid gets sick. Thankfully the new pediatrician, doctor Styles, has wild curly hair and green eyes and a soothing deep voice that the kid immediately grows attached to.
9) This Love Is Ours | Mature | 21028 words
Farmer Harry got village girl Louis pregnant without mating.
10) Swept Me Off My Feet (Took My Heart And Took Me Down) | Explicit | 25447 words
When Louis had decided to reopen his mother's bakery, he never thought a charming alpha would walk in through the door, let alone fall in love with him over tea, dessert and music.
11) A Kiss From A Rose | Explicit | 26437 words
“What the fuck was that?” Louis screeches, backing himself up against the back wall, ignoring the pain of the hand rail digging into him. The lift isn’t making any noise now, eerie silence filling the space.
The other man looks a lot less panicked than Louis feels, merely frowning at the door like it’ll open if he glares at it hard enough. “I think it’s broken down,” he says. “It’ll probably start back up in a minute. Place like this—probably happens all the time.”
Louis is not comforted by that at all.
12) Worth The Wait | Explicit | 29262 words
In all the words Louis would use to describe a baby shower, the last one he’d ever thought to use was depressing.
13) You Fill My Lungs With Sweetness (Can I Be Close to You?) | Explicit | 29844 words
Busy picturing Harry’s stupid face on the stupid dummy, Louis goes through a series of kicks before returning to a low guard and cycling through punches. Harry’s still talking, gesturing with his hands as he rounds Louis, standing to his back. “You do a few butt-shaping exercises, tighten this up a little bit,” he smacks Louis’ arse and the omega freezes while Harry cheerfully continues, “you could pull this off.”
“You know what?” Louis snaps, lifting on his tiptoes to get the leverage so he can wrap his arm around the alpha’s neck, forcing him to bend in half while Louis locks him in a chokehold. “Pull this off,” he snarls. They stagger over a few steps, Louis gritting his teeth as Harry tries to break free. “Is it because Payne hates me?” he complains, voice edging on an annoyed whine, “Or is it, like, an omega thing?”
Too late, Louis realizes that Harry has got a grip on his leg and this time as he pulls against Louis’ hold, it loosens, the alpha lifting him in the air before slamming his back into the mat, breaking Louis’ grip completely. Harry kneels on the mat, hovering over him with a sneer, “Don’t kid yourself. Nobody thinks of you that way.”
14) You're An Alpha, Harry! | Explicit | 32900 words
Right before Harry goes to university, he presents as an alpha. Struggling with his newfound identity in a completely different environment, he seeks advice from the notorious Louis Tomlinson, an omega whose claim to fame is being the local campus sex expert. Sex Education AU.
15) A Common Place Affliction | Explicit | 36508 words
“You should go home,” Louis muses, and Harry can feel the omega crouch down to become eye level with Harry, poking his cheek with a dainty finger. Harry lifts his arm, taking a peek at Louis’ face. Louis looks tired, he notes, but not exhausted, and there’s an eyelash stuck to his cheek. Harry doesn’t hesitate to lazily reach out and thumb over his cheek.
“Can’t,” Harry croaks, blindly twisting his hand around to grab at Louis’ offending finger and just holding it. “C’mere. Take a nap with me,” he asks after a beat, opening an eye to look at Louis.
Louis raises an eyebrow. “M’not going to nap with you in the middle of the ER, H.”
Sighing, Harry squeezes the young nurse’s finger. “Nobody cares.” He knows they do; they’ll annoy nurses and probably worry patients when they catch sight of a nurse and surgeon sleeping on the job. Let alone in the middle of the emergency ward hallway. Harry can hear the complaints now: ‘these are the people we’re supposed to trust with our lives?’
16) Best Colours For Your Portrait | Explicit | 37717 words
Louis bites his lip in, his eyes leaving Harry's face, they are cast low as he takes a deep breath before sighing, "In solitude, I felt the liberty you spoke of."
"But," The omega glances up, his eyebrows twitching as he brings his face closer to Harry's neck to overpower the alpha's scent with his scent, "I mostly felt your absence."
17) Letters To June | Mature | 41150 words
It's 1915, Europe is in the middle of the Great War. Omega Louis decides to join the Letter Home Project to become someone’s penfriend. Through this he meets a lovely soldier who hasn't got anyone else to send a letter to. Along with his letter, comes a picture of the most handsome alpha Louis has ever seen.’
18) Now I Think That I Could Love You Back | Explicit | 42225 words
“I do not care if she banishes me to my chambers for a month or the rest of the year, you two must see reason,” Louis protests, feeling a minor fit coming on. “He is nothing but an insufferable, cocky, cloddish, pitiful excuse for an Alpha, and he deserves to live the rest of his days in solitary, not me.”
“My, my, what an array of abuse. I surely would loath to be this inadequate excuse of an Alpha you speak of, but alas I cannot relate to possessing such deficiency,” a honey-glazed voice drips out from behind Louis, and the omega can feel the steam pouring over, ready to burst out of his already flushed ears.
19) Untamed Hearts Align | Explicit | 55795 words
For as long as Louis has known her, Lady Margaret Tomlinson has had two aspirations for the remaining years of her life. The first was to out-dress the Duchess of Kent at every soirée and gathering. The second was to marry off her omega nephew to the most honorable – and highly ranked – alpha suitor she could find.
He does not expect for her to arrange a marriage between him and the crown prince, and he certainly does not expect to fall for him.
Everything changes when Harry disappears.
20) It’s Golden, Like Daylight | Explicit | 61496 words
"I actually think you might be onto something.”
Harry’s eyes widened. “You mean…”
Louis nodded. “As crazy and insane as this, this might just solve both of our problems.”
“Are you saying you’re in?” Harry asked.
“I’m in.”
21) I’ve Got You | Explicit | 62988 words
As a reward for saving the king's life, Harry is offered omega Prince Louis' hand in marriage. Neither of them has any interest in the union going forward, and so they concoct a plan to prove to the king that they are far from a perfect match.
22) Heat Wave | Mature | 64000 words
Italy, 2018. Summer in Italy is sticky, especially in Marina di Pietrasanta. Louis Tomlinson, a soft and independent omega, goes to spend his holidays there with his daughter Alice. He has rented a vacation home built on a large estate owned by one Harry Styles, a kind-hearted alpha who is not very fond of children, but he tries.
A lot can happen in fifteen days.
23) Dripping Like Spider Milk | Explicit | 64303 words
When he sees the alpha, his brown hair curling around the top of his neck and his broad back that’s filled out over the past couple of years, Louis freezes for a moment. The alpha turns around, Louis’ surprised expression mirrored on his own for a fraction of a second before he schools it into a big, yet shy grin and a wave of his huge hand. With his nostrils flared, Louis knows that he can smell him, too.
They never hired alphas, except for—
“Harry.”
24) Billow And Breeze (Islands And Seas) | Explicit | 102506 words
It was bright; that was the first thing Louis could recall. With a groan, he winced at the throbbing behind the sockets of his eyes and rubbed his temples in an effort to soothe the pain. Maybe he really did hit his head when he took his tumble. The omega squinted as he looked at the surrounding rolling hills and fog hanging over the countryside. As strange as it was, the world felt different, though it looked practically the same.
Disoriented and confused, Louis padded through the moss and listened for his husband. “Liam?” he croaked shakily.
Nothing but a symphony of woodland creatures met his ears. His footsteps were muted by mossy green grass beneath his feet and soil fragrant as he neared the crest of the hill. At the top, he froze, lips parted in horror and eyes widening at the expanse of empty farmland—not a soul in sight. It had only been less than ten minutes prior that he could see Inverness from the crest, but now there was nothing.
“Impossible,” he whispered to himself, shaking his head in disbelief—his mind not quite able to make sense of it.
25) You've Got A Higher Power, You're Once In Any Lifetime | Explicit | 113444 words
Giving up and letting them think they're right were never valid options in Louis Tomlinson's mind.
In a society full of prejudices, finding a family and being accepted, also seemed like an unrealistic utopia.
Louis sets out to do what no other of his kind ever has before and in doing so, he finds love, friendship and more about himself than he thought he would.

(2/10) Blind Hugo - Part 2
Let's continue with a little fanart made with hurry,
Extra note, my progress got erased three times and I had to re-write u__u
Tumblr media
1.- What had been Hugo doing while Varian, Nuru and Yong were outside ? Being taking cared by Rudigger, Olivia and Prometeus , he is supposed to take rest and sleep a lot, only getting up for water , food and maybe sit around, easy for the pets, Rudigger was provided with a wall clock, so he can carry the medicines in time.
2.- And well, surely, Ruddy was there to change the wet cloth over his eyes, feeling sad when Hugo groaned in pain , the others do those kind of things at night, before going to bed.
3.- But well, no, today Hugo got bored and tough it would be a nice idea to go to their kitchen and make a sandwich, he is not an invalid.
Rudigger got angry at the mess he has to clean, ingredients in the floor, the meal was already done and saved on a basket, Ruddy would have to just go and serve it, even if Ruddy hissed and signaled the things, he had to get his attention by pulling Hugo's arm or hand, Hugo barely distingued a blurry black paw moving, but, due to not understanding animal lenguage, Hugo thought Ruddy was being a prick and was obstaclulising his lunch time, or just wanting him to go back to bed, he wouldn't, so they started a cat figth.
4- Hugo asked Olivia to figth back Rudigger and she did , Ruddy gave up , definitely not fighting a robot that obeys one persons voice, they don't speak the same language, and after Hugo finished his sandwich, we wanted to go out and take a walk outside, his plan has to just recognize the place, not going too far, or maybe yes but in a straight line and then in reverse
5.- But Prometeus got in his was, pushing him, Hugo tough Prom was obstaclulising his way so he pushed back, until Ruddy jumped on Hugo's shoulder , he wanted to strike at Rudigger until his hand got caught, Ruddy took it to shove Prom's reins on it, and then jump to Prometeus back, Hugo was confused but the understood, they wanted to guide him and don't let him get lost.
Tumblr media
Wait , why did I made those points more descriptive than the past ones that were way more interesting? well, because when I started this one's I had more time (seven days ago)
So let's go faster before I run out of time again
Extra note : Hugo has been getting Donella's messages, Olivia brings them, but he can't read them, so, he just writes on both sides of the paper "talk to you later" and send them back, he has tried to "go on a walk" alone to encounter her, but nobody and no animal leave him alone.
6.- The human team noticed the animal team had problems of communication and proper lead, so, they started to take more turns, of course, they stopped researching Ulla's diary to keep researching medical options for Hugo
7.- Varian turns were full of human experimentation, testing all oftamologist products with new addition Varian did, Young turns were full of entertainment made for the blinds, guessing, reading, soft martial arts, and some accidents Young had, due to his prone to disaster nature, Nuru turns would be Hugo's actual relief, because she would be like a mom taking care of a sick son, and chatting a lot about the situation, about their feelings, and spectations , encouraging words with also reality slaps.
8.- Nuru needed the team to hurry and find the eternal library, she is still worried about the coming meteor disaster on her kingdom , so after weeks, watching no big improvement, she calls a meeting, saying that, in the Eternal Library , they will be able to find The Cure for Hugo sickness, so it's better to let him stay safe with other people to take care of him, maybe she can provide him nurses and a place to stay in her kindgom.
9.- Hugo kind of looks offended , but kept quiet to hear about the others reactions, Varian is taken aback, the idea of leave him behind is hard, Young volunteers to stay with Hugo all the time, but Nuru and Varian say no thanks, after all he is a child, need adult supervision, not supervising a vulnerable adult, what if they have another fire related accident alone?, Maybe is better to accept Nuru's offer
10.- But that also makes them wonder about the next stage, what if Hugo gets stuck on a meteor shower? So they think about another place like Corona , but thinking about it, that place is very behind time about scientific development and about medical care so instead of get taking care of, he will end up just waiting with no real treatment, next they think about Yong kingdom , with his family or maybe hired nurses , very much nicer place where Hugo will be able to have a naturalist treatment and maybe get a treatment from any doctor, because Yong kingdom gets a lot of migrants.
11.- Hugo just thinks if is he being a burden for them, he should go back with Cyrus and Donella, his adoptive mother, no wait, his boss, so she can give him a better place to stay, keep hidden the secret and stop pretending, the Kingdom he is from, is supposed to have a higher scientific development so maybe with Donella help he can have a better quality doctor and stay with the people he grew up with.
12.- The night arrives, everyone looks asleep, but Hugo is writing a letter for Donella saying something like " I'm very sorry, I'm leaving, I can't keep going, please find someone else to help you with your mission I can no longer do it, I'll go-" and then he herd Varian voice in front on him asking was was he doing, Hugo hides the letter under the covers and evades, but Varian readed all
Thanks for reading 🌾🍁🌊
See you for the final part 3 🌱🪷

Isekai'd as Chloe
Tumblr media
You were watching Miraculous Ladybug on your phone as your bus got hit by a truck. You died, it sucks. But a godly being gives you the chance to start anew in a brand new world. Sadly it's Miraculous, with all the plotholes, and flat characters, and don't forget worshipped while being a sexual abuser Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir. Could your day get any worse? You shouldn't have asked because you were reborn as Chloe and forgot who Papillion was. Someone wanted to see you suffer, that was sure! But you wouldn't give them the satisfaction. It was time to throw canon out of the window and make Miraculous a better show or in your case world!
Main Pairing: Reader/Luka Couffaine/Marinette Dupain-Cheng
Tumblr media
Chapter 10: All cards on the table
“Are you sure you want to progress like that, [Y/N]?”, asked you Master Fu.
It was early morning, even before school, as you sat with the guardian of the Miraculous in his little massage parlor and were discussing what you should do next.
Plagg was taking a nap on your shoulder and Wazyy was drinking like you humans tea.
“After Adrien is now totally out of the picture, the only way to get the Miraculous Spellbook is to: a) Steal it, but we could get the Colletor as Akuma or b) wait till Lila comes into the picture because I know that’s the day Mr. Agreste takes out the book from his safe and I can just say I saw him doing it and as a wearer of the Miraculous it’s my right to have the book or a copy of it.”, you listen again.
“And option B will mostly prevent an Akuma?”, wonders Wazyy.
“Yeah, I think so. Mr. Agreste wants just to keep the original book I don’t think if one of the superheroes of Paris asks him for a copy he will be upset enough…and if he will, then we have a candidate for being Papillion.”, you remind.
Master Fu sipped thoughtfully his tea.
“An Akuma at our hands or a step closer to finding out who Papillion is…Both options are risky in their own way.”
“That’s way we need to have Marinette now on board.”, you insist. “She needs to know about you Master so you can teach us both in the way of the guardians. Also, I think it’s best she knows my full story, I’m sick of it of being hated by her as Chloe. If our partnership has to work no secrets. Secrets screwed over the canon partnership of the ladybug and the cat, we can’t take this risk.”
Wazyy hummed in agreement, while Master Fu locked like he bit into a lemon. You bet anything in him, his guardian training was screaming no at this plan, but he couldn’t fight the logic.
You already knew Marinette’s identity.
It was only fair she knows yours and learns the truth about yourself. It will make you a stronger team.
Then you two with Master Fu would decide who to give out the other Miraculous and train with them to be ready on Hero’s Day.
Hero’s Day was set to be the end of all this.
Papillion would curse the day he decide to come out of his hidey hole and with luck he would lead you straight to Mayura too.
“I see your points [Y/N]. I really do, it’s just so hard for me to go against the rules of the order. I did it once and it ended in a catastrophe.”
“Please Master, believe me, it’s better this way. How you did it in the original timeline didn’t work out.”
Master Fu signed but nodded.
He trusted your judgment and knowing what had happened in the original timeline, he couldn’t really disagree.
He promised he would send word to Marinette today. This evening all cards shall be laid out on the table.
You would be lying if you said you weren’t a bit nervous. Would Marinette believe your story, would she see and accept the truth?
Accepted you?
For now, you could only thank Master Fu for agreeing with you and for the tea.
It was time to go to school to prevent another Akuma.
Reflekta.
Tumblr media
Since she know Adrien and Chat Noir had been the same person…Marinette hadn’t been the same.
She had sworn… sworn to herself that after what happened last year with Kim no boy would trick her again.
Like possessed she had tried to find out anything about Adrien. Her room full of pictures of him. Presents for years and years to come prepared.
But that all got destroyed as she saw the boy behind the mask.
Chat Noir had always flirted with her, never accepted when she said no, and continued, even calling her this stupid nickname she detested after she told him to stop.
He proclaimed to like her, love her, yet he didn’t care how she felt about it and what she said.
Him been Adrien, who after all her research…no call it right Marinette, stalking had seemed like an angel from above was devastating.
Again she had been tricked.
And worse…she had become this crazy obsessed stalker because of him.
How could she have fallen so much all in the name of "love"?
Yes, she had a traumatic experience, but it didn’t give her the right to act the way she did.
So after she had returned home that day, she ripped and burned all Adrien-related things and took a deep look into herself.
Marinette realized, that she was probably not ready to let in someone again in her heart. She didn’t want to turn crazy Stalker again.
So she decides to take a break from all romantic things.
It was better that way.
Anyway, the good thing was that Adrien got out of his abusive home and Alya had not only cleared the Ladyblog of Chat Noir, but she also support Marinette in her healing.
Alya admitted too, that she had been an enabler. Instead of pointing out how sick her behavior was, Alya was so into supporting her ships that she didn’t see the red flags also.
The two best friends had a long heart-to-heart after Lady Wifi.
The midnight black-haired girl had a feeling that her friendship with Alya had only deepened and transformed. It was an amazing feeling.
After all these crazy days it was a bit funny to take something like a school photo.
All were still reeling from Adrien being Chat Noir, then him going into forest care and his father would face a trial for child abuse, that hearing about Juleka and her supposed curse was a nice change.
Weird, right?
But Marinette took this change to help her friend.
After the photograph had arranged them to his liking, he took the photo and Marinette felt her heart light seeing Juleka’s pretty smile of happiness.
Seemed like a curse was broken.
And she could help people without being Ladybug.
It was a nice feeling.
Then it was time for lunch. She was ready to eat with Alya and the other girls, as she felt how Tikki poked her through the purse.
Must be something important, since her kwami left her alone in school if an Akuma wasn’t on the loose.
So she told her friends to go to the cafeteria without her because she needed to use the bathroom.
A lie, of course, but the only safe space she could talk with Tikki.
After she carefully closed the door to the bathroom stall she let Tikki fly out of her purse.
Her kwami floated before her with crossed flippers.
“Marinette, what I gonna tell you will sound probably really confusing for you, but it’s time.”
She frowned.
“Whatever it is I’m ready to hear it Tikki.”
“That’s good to hear. It’s time that you meet someone special. The one who gave you the Miraculous.”
The midnight black-haired girl thought she heard wrong.
“Wait a second?! Does it mean it wasn’t yourself who choose me to be Ladybug?”
“No it was the honorable Guardian of the Miraculous…and he will meet you and Calamity today in his home.”
Speechless couldn’t even describe what Marinette was feeling.
The world…it was changing so fast.
Tumblr media
As Calamity, you sat again at Master Fu’s tea table and enjoyed a nice cup of tea, only now it was evening.
You were happy that no Reflekta Akuma happened, and also that Juleka’s "curse" or whatever had ended.
One day, if things would be going well, she would be your sister-in-law. Also, you liked her, it was nice seeing a problem being resolved without the need for superheroes.
All in all a good day.
Still, you wonder again why Papillion didn’t make another Akuma today. Someone at least in Paris had to have a shit day. It was a big city!
Or…was he occupied with other things?
If he was who you thought he was then he was surely searching for a really good lawyer and trying to get Adrien back in his grabby hands.
But could he really be Papillion? Were the creators of the show so without fantasy, they just made the dad of one of the superheroes the villain?
…Well, Miraculous Ladybug had crappy writing, honestly, it would be shocking if it was someone else.
Yet, could it be so simple?
Maybe….you should just tell Fu after Marinette was on board and all, that you should just start swinging at Gabriel Agreste and see what happened.
You could find a reason why you attacked him surely.
You just wanted to end this show and then live a nice happy life in this world without stupid Papillion around.
Maybe some competent supervillain would appear, so you could use your powers really for the good of humanity.
You already have told Fu, that after Papillion and Mayura were done, you would hunt down Feast, defeat him, and get the Miraculous Order back.
Then maybe scream at them for an hour or so since their teachings were shit. In what world was it a good idea to take children from their homes and practically force them to become guardians?
So no wonder one day one child, Fu, snapped.
You still don’t get what sense it made to not eat for 24 hours and protect the Miraculous Box. What showed this test?
Whatever you would cross this bridge when it was time.
Right now you heard how the door behind you opened.
Every so calm Fu greeted Ladybug.
You turned also around.
Marinette was indeed transformed, skeptical looking around the little Massage Parlor. After she saw you, she seemed to relax more.
You gave her a reassuring smile.
Hesitantly she smiled back.
Master Fu invited her to sit with you guys.
“So you are the one who choose me as Ladybug and…Agreste as Chat Noir.”, it was not a question, she just stated things.
The master gave her a tiny nod, which made her frown.
“What made you think me and especially Agreste were the right ones for the job? What kind of method did you use to pick us?”
You had to bite your tongue to stop yourself from laughing. You kinda told Fu the same.
Of course, the master remembers how you have called him out and can’t help but smile a bit at Ladybug.
“Calamity asked the same things before I made her the new black cat. I assure you I thought at the time, that my test was sufficient, but I realized now that it was really flawed. With you I had luck. You are a good person, in and out of the suit, Ladybug. Chat Noir hides his true color well, even from me.”, he admitted.
Ladybug huffed crossing her arms. She said that she was glad that you all were at least on the same page now.
The Master apologize to her for the mess he had made, which Ladybug accept after a few seconds.
She was too good of a person to hold a grudge.
At least if your name didn’t rhyme with liar, but Lila was crazy smart and evil, so she had a right to hold a grudge against her.
If all worked as planned, Rossi would never give you trouble, as she did in the canon timeline. If she tried, you had already a few plans to counter that.
Then it was time to tell you her story.
You hoped all would go well.
Tumblr media
Ladybug admitted…she wasn’t sure what to think of all that.
Her life, in another dimension, been a television show for kids?
How some misogynist dude and his posse gave her trauma over trauma and practically worshipped the ground Agreste had walked?
The universe was really against her, she been the punchline for many stupid jokes.
Your face as you told her about an Akuma named Backwarder had been really something. She didn’t want to think that she could have embarrassed herself so much in the future.
Then this Kwami Dime and Khee who had a sadist pleasure to let reborn people from other dimensions here, living the life of another, till it ended in suicide?
You been reborn as someone she hated?
It was all so…crazy.
Yet a part of her, who got bigger with any revelation and Master Fu telling her that this hadn’t been the first time nor would it be probably the last, started to believe.
Then you transformed back and her chin meet the floor.
Now all made sense!
“You are Chloe?! That’s why she changed so much, you live now in her body!”, she shouted, pointing a finger at you.
You smiled crookedly.
“Yeah…you guys weren’t far off with the alien theory.”
“You heard that?”
“Yep.”
 This was mindblowing.
“So who are you?”, asked Ladybug curious.
You told her how when you were Calamity, that this was your true body, besides the cat accessory obviously, and told her as much as you could about yourself and your old life.
After that, she was quiet for a while.
You, Fu, Plagg, and Wazyy looked at each other.
What would Ladybug to next?
Well, she detransformed holding a hand out to you and told you smiling: “It’s nice to meet you [Y/N], thank you for helping me already so much and being on my side. I hope we can be friends.”
It was like a huge weight got lifted from your chest.
Marinette, and also Tikki it seemed, since the little kwami smiled cutely at you, seemed to accept you.
You took her soft hand and shook it.
“The honor is all mine, Marinette. I always wanted to meet you… Being your friend is like the greatest gift you can make me.”
That made her smile prettily, a cute blush on her face.
Yeah, suck it Dime and Khee, you were winning at life!

- okay so I saw you wanted ideas for both high school and for at work, so here’s my idea for a high school AU: character A thinks that their just feeling sick because of nerves before an exam but character B suspects otherwise and keeps an eye on them. Soon discovering that it wasn’t “just nerves” and they’re actually sick and need to go home. Character B goes home with them but character A’s parents aren’t home so they have to take care of them until they DO get home & explain to them what happened at school since character A is still kinda out of it.
I'm reposting this since 🧶 showed me what tags to use! Thank you!
This wasn't a request but this anon gave their ideas and I worked around them so I thought it would be best to credit them 😊
Hoep you'll enjoy!
HIGH SCHOOL A.U
High school was never easy on anyone, it was stressful all year long and especially stressful during midterms. They made even the most successful students nervous. There was no escape.
They were midterm week and that meant, studying all day, no going out, no game, nothing, just complete focus.
Today was the start of the midterms, and Felix's day started stressful from the get-go. While still laying in bed he felt a weird sensation lingering in his stomach, bothering enough for him to consider skipping class.
But he knew that not taking/doing the test on the exact day resulted in doing another harder one later. For someone who just wanted to be free from these midterms, that was not an option.
He decided to get up and sat on the edge of his bed trying to understand what he was feeling. Nausea, nerves? The only thing he could think was "Great, we started like this from the get-go"
He made his way to the bathroom and looked at himsel in the mirror, his complexion looked good, so he discarded the option of him being actually sick. He brushed his teeth and washed his face, trying to fully awaken before heading to the kitchen for breakfast.
He didn't want to eat but at the same time, he knew his mom wouldn't let him go to school on an empty stomach.
- Good morning, Mom.
- Good morning, dear. Sit down, I made you breakfast.
- Thanks, mom.
He decided to eat as he felt like it would be worse to deal with the nausea while also fighting an empty stomach-related pain. But unlike the other days, he ate less than normal.
- Oh dear, are you okay? You didn't finish your breakfast...
- I'm good, mom. I'm just not that hungry.
- Are you nervous, my love?
- Kind of.
- Oh sweetie. You're going to do good on the exam, don't worry. You studied hard.
- Thanks, Mom.
- Here. Your lunch. I made your favorite.
- Thanks. I'm off now. See you later.
He kissed her on the cheeks and left his house.
The boy was part of a rather popular group in school, they were known for their looks and talents. They would usually meet on their way to school and arrive there together.
Chan, the oldest one, lived close to Felix so they always met first and on their way, the others would pop up and join the group.
Felix loved walking to school, but today he was loathing that idea. But his parents and sibling all had work to do so they left a little earlier than him, so no rides today.
He met with Chan after about 10 minutes of walking and the older boy immediately noticed something wrong with the boy.
- Good morning, mate.
- Good morning, hyung.
- Hey, you okay Felix?
- Hm? Yes. I think it's just nerves.
- About today's exam?
- Yeah.
- You'll do good.
- I hope so.
For some reason, Chan believed that something else was going on, it wasn't just nerves so he decided to keep an eye on him throughout the day.
On their way, they met with Hyunjin, Han, Changbin, Minho, Seungmin, and Jeongin, and it was safe to say they were a pile of nerves because of the midterms.
The exams were going to happen in the afternoon, after lunch. And that meant Felix would have to sit through an entire morning of classes before getting rid of this god-forsaken exam. And to add to his misery of feeling nauseous due to nerves, they had gym class as well.
"Shit, this is going to be a long day," he thought to himself letting out a long sigh.
- Why did you sigh?
- I already feel defeated...
- Oh come on. It's just an exam, it's not the end of the world.
Han said giving a tap on the shoulder.
Felix went ahead because he wanted to study a little more before class started, so Chan took the opportunity and called the others back before they went to class.
- Hey, all 5 of you, since you're in the same class, I want to ask a favor of you.
- What is it, hyung?
- Keep an eye on Felix, I don't think he's okay.
- I noticed that too.
Hyunjin said.
- Don't worry hyung, we'll take care of him.
- If anything happens during class, text me and Minho, okay?
- Yes.
Chan and Minho were the oldest of the group and were in the same class, while the others were together in another class.
After about 20 minutes, the bell rang signaling the start of the day for the students. Throughout the first period, Felix tried to focus on what the teacher was saying but his mind only paid attention to how they had a test in a few hours, how before that they had gym class, and how his stomach wasn't giving him a break.
Han, having anxiety himself, knew the signs of someone anxious and he noticed how Felix's leg wouldn't stop shaking. He turned to Felix and mouthed
- Are you okay?
Felix just nodded back.
Han knew something was wrong, just like the others knew as well but he couldn't say anything during class. After the first period, they had a small break before the other class so the boys gathered around Felix.
Han put a hand on Felix's shaking leg.
- Hey, you're okay. Don't be nervous. You'll do well!
- Thanks...but it's not that...I feel strange...
- Strange how?
- I don't really know...I feel kind of nauseous...
- Do you think you're gonna be sick?
- No. It's just bothering me...can you just keep talking to me? It helps me get distracted and relax.
- Sure! Oh! Do you want to listen to the demo of the new song I'm working on?
- Yes!
They were known in the school for being extremely talented and they loved producing music.
Funny enough, Han's newly produced music was just what Felix needed to hear at that moment, even though there was no singing or rapping, the rhythm and beat were soothing and helped Felix relax a bit.
- Woah, it's really good!
- Glad you liked it! Maybe we can work on it after our midterms are done!
- Sure.
After a while, the second class started and Felix managed to sit through this one a little bit better. However, their next class was going to test the limits of his body, gym class.
Even though they were in separate classes, their gym class reunited a few classes, so all 8 of them would be together.
In a way, they were good at sports, and they did enjoy it, but today that one class was Felix's worst nightmare.
He had been feeling queasy all morning and running and jumping right now was definitely not the best idea. And on top of that, the weather was rather hot.
They had to run a few laps around the field before beginning a football match, and the boys were worried about him.
He did manage to take part in most of the class until the teacher gave them a break.
They all gathered in the shadow to catch their breaths and drink some water.
- Woah! It's too hot!
Some of them were spraying water on their heads, others were sitting down.
Felix was just standing with his hands on his waist, almost like Hyunjin's iconic pose. He was breathing rather erratically, his heart felt like it was still running on its own and his throat was dry.
- Here, Felix!
Chan said handing him a bottle of cold water.
- Thanks, hyung.
He gratefully accepted the water and took a small sip, but he was too thirsty, so he almost gulped down the entire bottle.
At first, he felt like he'd just been rescued from the desert but then reality hit.
He had just gulped down an entire bottle of water, on a queasy stomach, just before going back to the field.
He felt his stomach contract a little and bent down, hands on his knees for support, and his head ducked down.
- Hey, you okay?
Changbin said going over to his side, everyone was worried about him.
- Oi? I'm fine. Just tired, it's too hot.
Changbin and the boys decided not to insist on asking him if he was okay and just took his word for it. Even though they all knew something was wrong from the moment they met him early that morning.
They went back to the field and started the last part of their football match, and Felix was already regretting drinking that bottle of water even before he began running again.
Every step, every run, made his stomach flip over and over again, and the weather wasn't helping one bit.
He did manage to score a goal but he just kept feeling worse and worse. He bent over a few times to catch his breath and try to calm down and then continue. He did not want to leave the field out of the blue and catch everyone's attention, so he did his best to go through that torture.
Finally, the match ended and they won. All the boys gathered again one last time before going back to their classrooms and that's when things started to take a turn for the worst.
Felix leaned against the wall in the shadow with the others and felt his stomach flips again.
He felt it bubbling and sloshing its contents around, he tried to close his eyes and take a deep breath. But it wasn't working, he was already sweating from the exercise but now it was more like a cold sweat.
He was certain something was creeping up his throat and on top of that he was starting to feel lightheaded.
He attempted to close his eyes and breathe once again, but the nausea kept growing stronger.
Felix's mouth started to pool with saliva and he started to swallow convulsively, trying to keep everything in and not surprise anyone.
He did manage to control the situation but he was now twice as dizzy as he was before.
He felt the strength be sucked away from his legs and swayed a bit, catching all the boy's attention.
- Felix?
Chan said worryingly and quickly getting to his side. Being the oldest of the group he always took care of the younger ones.
He was quick to support Felix before the boy fell to the ground, and helped him down.
- Hey, easy. It's okay.
Felix couldn't even look up properly.
- What are you feeling?
Hyunjin asked kneeling next to him.
- I feel lightheaded and have cold sweats...
- You do look pale right now.
- I feel like I'm about to pass out...
- Lay down.
Felix did what Chan told him to do and he was glad that the nausea had gone away for a while, otherwise laying down would be the worst idea.
Chan instructed that one of the boys held his legs up and the other put a cold water bottle on his forehead and his neck, as it should help with the heat and the low blood pressure.
Han called Chan to the side to talk to him without Felix listening.
- Hyung.
- What is it?
- He is not okay. Earlier in class his leg wouldn't stop shaking and he said he was feeling nauseous.
- Did he get sick?
- No. He just told us to keep talking to him and eventually, he calmed down.
- But now, gym class just made everything worse.
After a few minutes of the boys taking care of him, his face regained color and he was no longer feeling lightheaded.
- How are you feeling?
- better, I'm not dizzy any more.
- Great.
- Let's sit but take it slow, alright? Harsh movements will just make you feel dizzy again.
Minho helped Felix sit up but even if the movement was as smooth as he could manage, it still made his stomach's content slosh around.
It started gurgling and he felt liquid coming up his chest and his mouth pooling with saliva again.
He just stood there quietly while one of the boys massaged his nape with a cold wet cloth.
He appreciated the gesture but his stomach decided to make him suffer. It suddenly contracted and the nausea build up even more. He tried to keep it down by swallowing convulsively but it didn't work. He felt something creeping up his throat and he wanted to get out of there.
He tugged on Minho's jacket sleeve and didn't even look up, and just put his other hand on his stomach.
The older one immediately understood the signal, helped Felix to his feet, and wrapped his arm around his waist to support him.
- I'll go with him.
Felix gagged and swayed forward, and he would've fallen if Minho wasn't there supporting him.
The boys wanted to follow along but Chan told them not to because sometimes too many people around will only make one even more nervous, and he knew Felix would start to feel guilty for worrying them.
Minho guided Felix to the restroom and entered one of the stalls with his dongsaeng.
Felix bent over the toilet, hands grabbing the edges while Minho locked the door behind them. He put his hand on Felix's back and bent down to Felix's point of view.
- Are you okay?
Minho asked gently, a tone he used mostly with Felix.
- No... I've been feeling off since I woke up...
- We noticed.
- I'm sorry...
- No no no, it's okay.
Minho reassured him patting his head.
Felix's stomach kept bubbling and gurgling but he didn't feel like he was going to throw up. He kept his mouth open, only saliva coming out.
Minho started to rub his back up and down, trying to comfort his dongsaeng.
Felix gagged a few times but nothing came up, only thick saliva. He cursed under his breath because he still felt nauseous and he thought that if he threw up, he would feel better after.
- Felix, don't force it. You're gonna hurt your throat. Straighten your back and take deep breaths.
Minho helped him calm down before exiting the stall.
- Rinse your mouth and let's go, we still have one class and lunch before our exam.
- I wish I could do this exam now...
- me too. Let's go.
Minho walked out of the bathroom supporting Felix, because he knew the boy was still feeling unwell.
They met with the other 6 outside the bathroom, with worried expressions. Felix was already feeling bad and seeing his friends worried about him made him feel even worse.
- I'm okay.
He said firmly, no one believed it but they wouldn't contradict him and worsen the situation.
- Let's go back to class. See you later, Chan-hyung, Minho-hyung.
Changbin said wrapping his arm around Felix and walking with the other four to their classes.
As soon as the boys left, Chan turned to Minho and they made their way to their class as well.
- What happened in there?
- He felt sick but he couldn't throw up. Nothing came up.
- Shit. And we still have one class, lunch, and an exam.
- Yeah. What do we do?
- Let's see if we'll change classes for the exam and if we do, we keep an eye on him. If not, the other ones will be there if anything happens.
- I hope he will be okay.
The bell rang signaling the start of the last class before lunch. And Felix just sat through it, reading his notes for the exam and trying to ignore the fact that he still had to eat before doing that exam and going home.
Lunchtime arrived faster than he weirdly wished.
They all gathered in the school cafeteria, a place Felix was loathing right now because there was too much noise and the worst, food smells.
He had to eat but everything was making his stomach turn, he just buried his head in his hands sighing.
They all looked up at him, worried.
- Hey, Felix, are you okay?
- No...
They knew it was serious when he admitted. No one in the group used to admit to feeling unwell, so when they actually did, everyone should be concerned.
- What are you feeling?
- I feel weird...like, there's something lingering around in my stomach...
- Did you eat anything weird last night or this morning?
- No. I guess it's just nerves.
- Relax man, you'll do great. And it's not the end of the world. It's just an exam. Don't worry about it.
- I'll try to. Ugh-
He grimaced when his nose caught a strong scent of food, making his stomach turn again.
- Hey, Felix. Let's go eat outside, okay? We can see you're not feeling comfortable.
- Sorry, guys.
- Don't worry. Let's go.
They all decided to eat outside, under the shadow cast by the tree. There was a nice breeze and it helped Felix relax a bit, to the point where he managed to eat a little.
Lunchtime was over, much to Felix's happiness and despair. One because he didn't have to endure the smell of food anymore, and two because now there was no escaping the exam.
In their school, the students switched classes for the exam to prevent them from cheating.
This time, Minho and Chan were in the same class as Felix, while the others were in another one.
Felix read his notes for the last time before putting them in his bag and taking a deep breath in. All four of them looked at each other and wished good luck before the papers were handed out to them.
The exam wasn't difficult but it wasn't easy, they had to study but nothing that Felix needed to be afraid of or nervous about.
He started answering the questions, and at the beginning, he thought it was easy and that he didn't need to get anxious about it. And the nausea was gone, so he thought it was definitely just nerves.
But, as he continued to answer the exam, he felt this weird pressure between his eyes, as if he was dizzy but not really. He squeezed them shut to see if the weird sensation would go away. It did for a while but as he looked at the paper the letters started to get blurry and doubled, he squeezed his eyes again and looked up before returning his attention to the questions.
But what he thought were just nerves, were turning out to be something else. He felt cold sweat form at the back of his neck and trail down his back. His stomach started to act funny as well.
He tried his best to keep his attention on the questions before him, as he thought that being done with it he'd feel better and finally could go home.
However, things took a turn for the worst.
He felt his heartbeat increase and he broke in cold sweat, he couldn't pay attention to anything now. All the letters in front of him were completely blurred and doubled and he wasn't sure what was written or what he had answered.
His stomach started to do flips and he tried to make that horrible sensation go away. But the nausea just increased, he clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white and started swallowing convulsively, as he felt something creeping up his chest.
By now, Chan and Minho had already noticed their dongsaeng's distress. They kept exchanging worried glances and keeping an eye out for Felix.
The young boy tried his best to get everything under control, he wanted to believe it was just nerves, but his body was telling him in every way possible that it wasn't.
He kept swallowing until his mouth became numb and for a brief moment the nausea seemed to be gone, only for him to focus back on the exam in front of him and it returned even stronger, and now he wouldn't be able to hold it.
He covered his mouth with his hand as he dropped the pen and ran out of the classroom, startling everyone.
The older boys looked at each other before getting up from their seats and following Felix.
Felix managed to get to the bathroom just in time, he barely had the chance to close the door behind him as he threw up, vomit escaping from in between his fingers and hitting the edges of the toilet, thankfully none got on his shoes or uniform. He just bent over holding against the wall as another stream made its way out.
Chan and Minho, and arrived shortly after, just in time to hear their dongsaeng gagging and the sound of vomit hitting the toilet water.
Minho went inside the stall and placed his hand on Felix's back and started rubbing it.
- Hey, take it easy. We're right here.
Felix gagged again bringing even more vomit up, hurting his throat in the process.
- Hey, do you have your hair tie on you?
Felix just motioned that it was in his pocket, so Minho grabbed it and tied his hair in a ponytail to prevent vomit from getting on it.
He barely managed to finish tying his hair and Felix's stomach contracted with full force making his back arch painfully, him bending even further, as a strong thick stream came out. The texture of the food he'd just eaten coming back made him feel even more nauseous as his stomach sent even more food up, this time making Felix lose his balance.
- Woah! Easy, easy, I've got you.
Minho said wrapping his arms around Felix's waist and guiding him down. The young spit saliva and then straightened his back, taking a deep breath, as his stomach finally gave him a break.
- Hyung...
He whined, before leaning against Minho.
The older boys' hearts just shattered into pieces seeing their dongsaeng in this state.
- It's okay, Lix.
Chan said bending down next to him and giving him a little pat on the shoulder.
For a while things seemed to have quieted down, Felix just lay there in his hyung's embrace.
- Do you think you're done?
As if on cue, his stomach flipped making him gag and lurch forward.
- I guess that's a no.
Chan said as they helped the boy back to the toilet. Felix didn't even have time to think before gagging again and vomiting even more, it felt like he was expelling last night's dinner.
- You're really not okay, Felix
Felix tried catching his breath but his stomach sent even more content up his throat making him almost choke in the process.
- Hey, calm down, it's alright.
Minho said as he now proceeded to rub Felix's lower back to his shoulder.
The young boy felt comfort in his hyung's touch and presence but the motion also stimulated his stomach once again, forcing him to vomit one more time, this time making him red from the effort.
After this, he was left vomiting only bile and hurting his throat. And even though there seemed to be nothing else to vomit, his body just didn't want to give him a break, as he kept feeling nauseous and gagging unproductively.
- Felix, there's nothing else for you to throw up. You're just hurting your throat.
Minho flushed the toilet and helped Felix straighten his back.
- There, straighten your back and take deep breaths with us.
Both he and Chan guided Felix through controlled breaths until the boy felt a little calmer.
- Hyung...I feel awful
The poor young boy said whining and leaning towards his hyungs' embrace. He felt horrible, he just wanted to go home but at the same time he was angry with himself because not only he wouldn't be able to finish his exam but neither would the hyungs that were taking care of him.
- I'm sorry, hyung- Because of me you won't be able to finish the exam-
Felix said already sobbing.
- Stop it, Lix. It's just an exam! It's not the end of the world! You're more important!
- Hyung-
Felix was now fully crying, he felt bad for his hyungs and he felt physically bad as well. He couldn't stop crying so Chan and Minho both hugged him tightly, letting their dongsaeng calm down little by little.
- It's okay, Yongbok-ah. It's okay. Don't worry.
Chan said stroking the boy's head and then placing a soft kiss.
- Let's rinse your mouth, okay?
- Hmm
They helped Felix to the sink to rinse his mouth and gave him some water.
- I'll talk to the teachers and we'll go home okay? You need to rest and get well.
- Okay.
- let's go outside.
Chan left to talk to the teachers and Minho stayed with Felix.
- Hey, why didn't you tell us you weren't feeling well?
- I thought it was just nerves, I really did. But as I started the exam, instead of getting better it got worse. I'm sorry.
- Stop apologizing. It's not your fault.
After a few minutes, Chan got back with his and Felix's belongings.
- The teacher allowed us two to go home. Since we leave close to each other and his parents aren't home.
- Okay. I'll talk to the others when the exam is done.
- Alright. Oh, one more thing. The teacher allowed us three to take another exam later so we can guarantee our grades.
- oh! That's nice! See, Felix? Nothing to worry about.
Felix was so exhausted, he didn't even respond, he just wanted to go home and sleep the rest of the day.
- Hyung...can we go? I really don't feel good...
- Yes. Sorry. Let's go.
Chan pulled Felix closer to his embrace and walked out.
Their school wasn't that far from their houses but now, Felix felt as if they lived on the other side of the country and the sun in their heads wasn't helping.
Chan kept holding him the whole time, he offered a piggyback ride to Felix but the boy refused, he felt that maybe that would make him even more nauseous.
As they walked, the heat was starting to take its toll on Felix, it combined with his upset stomach and started to make the boy feel even worse.
He felt something creeping up his chest and his mouth started to pool with saliva, making him halt startling Chan.
- Felix? What's wrong?
Chan said bending a little to take a good look at his dongsaeng.
- Hyung- I think I'm gonna be sick again-
- Okay, calm down. Let's get you somewhere more private.
Chan guided Felix to a nearby alley where the boy could throw up without people staring at him.
Felix supported his weight with both hands on the wall and ducked his head down closing his eyes.
- It's okay, Felix. It's okay. Just let it out.
Chan said as he rubbed Felix's nape.
Felix spat out saliva as he tried to focus his attention on his hyung's touch.
He kept his head down, swallowing and squeezing his eyes as the nausea grew stronger. His stomach then contracted and sent hot liquid up his throat, his back arched making his head duck down even further as vomit came out hitting the ground with a sickening sound.
- That's it, let it out. You're doing good.
Chan said rubbing Felix's back as the young boy lurched forward one more time as another wave forced its way out, making him a little red and teary-eyed.
His stomach then left him vomiting bile as the nausea took its time to cease and give him a break. Chan kept rubbing his back throughout the process trying to make his dongsaeng a little more comfortable.
When Felix was done, Chan grabbed his water bottle from his backpack and handed it over to him.
- Here, rinse your mouth and try to take a small sip, just to relax your throat a bit.
Felix did as he was told, the water was still cold, so the sensation as he swallowed it felt indeed relaxing.
Chan took a good look at the sick young boy in front of him and noticed he looked pale yet flushed. He reached for Felix's forehead and it felt a little hot to the touch.
- I think you're developing a fever, Felix.
Felix's had enough of trying to stay strong and just broke down.
- Hyung, it hurts.
He said as he started crying.
Chan's heart was clenching seeing his domgsaeng suffering like this, if he could, he'd take everything Felix was feeling for him.
He pulled the boy into his embrace and Felix let himself sink into his hyung's arms.
- I'm right here. Hyung is right here. I've got you. Let's go home. Can you walk?
- Hm
Felix just nodded no so Chan proceeded to give him a piggyback ride back home. He walked as smoothly as possible, not wanting to upset his dongsaeng's stomach any further.
Felix dozed off on the way and within minutes, he was finally home.
Chan carefully sat him down on the couch and then went to the kitchen to get the boy some more water.
- Hey, Lix, do you have antiemetics here?
- Yeah...it should be in the cabinet.
- Okay. I'll go get it.
Chan got the pill and handed it to Felix, thankfully it was a gel one, otherwise, he wouldn't be able to swallow it. He gagged when he swallowed but managed to keep it down.
- I'm okay.
He said putting his hand up and giving the glass back to Chan.
- Do you think you can shower right now? You'll feel more comfortable after.
- I think so.
- Leave the door ajar, just in case. If you start to feel funny, call me okay? I'll be right outside.
- Okay, thanks hyung.
While Felix took his shower, Chan called his mom to tell her what happened.
- Oh, hello Mom!
- Oh, Chan, hello!
- How are you?
- I'm okay, and you?
- I'm fine. Mom, I called you because Felix got sick at school.
- Oh my! Really? What happened?
- We had an exam today and he thought he was just anxious but he ended up throwing up.
- Oh my god! He was acting weird before leaving this morning, he barely ate breakfast...
- We noticed something was wrong when we met, so we kept an eye out during the day.
- How is he right now?
- We're home, he is taking a shower. I'm here with him.
- Thank you so much, Chan! We'll be home in a while, make yourself comfortable.
- Okay, thank you, mom.
As the call ended, Felix got out of the shower to meet Chan.
- Was that my mom?
- Yeah. She said she will be home soon.
Felix was feeling relieved he was home and had his hyung with him and the shower thankfully relaxed him, maybe a little too much.
- Hyung...can we sit? I feel dizzy...
- Oh, sure. Come on.
Said wrapped his arm around Felix's waist guiding him to his bedroom.
- There we go. Feeling better?
- A little. I feel tired, hyung.
- Try to get some sleep. I'm right here, I won't go anywhere.
With Chan's reassuring words, Felix lay down on his bed while the older covered him with a light blanket because of the heat. He quickly left the bedroom to get a bucket, just in case, and returned.
- Hyung...
Felix whined which Chan understood as a sign that the boy needed more comfort.
He sat down beside the bed and started patting Felix's back lightly to help the young boy fall asleep.
- Hyung, can I hold your hand?
- Sure.
Chan said grabbing Felix's hand, he knew that would make the sick boy feel better.
- You can sleep now. Hyung's right here.
- Thank you, hyung.
Felix fell asleep within minutes, as Chan continued to pat his back.
As time passed, Chan also grew tired and ended up asleep as well.
After a few hours, Felix's parents came back to find both boys fast asleep in the bedroom, a sight that they'll never forget. They were more than grateful that Felix found so many good people and such a caring hyung.
They knew nothing would happen to their son since Chan was always with him.

Okay I tried to do a quick scroll before I went back to work, I already walked 8mi today and it took a lot out of me but I need to do flats so it was literally just a uber fast ‘what might be important’.
I see a lot of y’all getting sick and I’ma put on my big sib hat for a moment (I’m the oldest of 9 okay I did earn that title), and also these are just good reminders in general (read: Tagg fucking take your own advice ffs). It might get a smidge lengthy so under read more.
Getting sick isn’t a moral failing, it’s literally bugs’ job to fuck with us but to help you dodge this shit since I myself have a crappy immune system and cannot fucking afford being sick (and apart from that fucky business a few months ago have mostly dodged contagious stuff in the last few years)….continue reading.
Stay hydrated. I’m fucking terrible at this with plain water in the winter because who the fuck wants to drink water that MUST be cold when you’re already struggling to stay warm right now? Not me. So add some lemon (yay vitamin C). I can’t buy fresh lemons. I forget them and they go bad. BUT the bottled stuff while it does not taste as good imo, still has the good shit. So flavor and vit c. Or add it to herbal tea! Something that isn’t monster or dark soda or coffee (yes I’m aware those are part of the major food groups I don’t care you dehydrated walking plant). Broth soups also count- chicken soup is the cure all for a reason- veggies and hydration in one!!!
Eat. Something. You can’t run on nothing. Fed is better than not, period. Eating what you can afford is doing yourself better than going hungry for the sake of those two nights of ‘healthy food’.
If you stopped masking, go back to it. No seriously don’t stop. Buy one with a print you like with the slot for a filter and wear that shit. I’m sure most of my dodging illness during the height of lockdown while being not able to isolate in high trafficked places was the masking. That and the hand washing and hand sanitizers.
Speaking of- the one brand I used to buy is a boycott but there are lotion hand sanitizers out there if you’re like me, and you can just look at hand sanitizer and your hands crack. Highly recommend. 13/10. Not going back.
Indoor clothes/outside clothes- keep your ‘been everywhere all day’ cooties off the bed and your furniture. Will also reduce allergens embedding in the places where you’re laying down. Even if you didn’t shower, you’re doing yourself a favor changing the clothes. Yes I know this is more laundry, so there’s also clothing/fabric sanitizer. It’s like 8$ for a can but that’s an option if extra laundry is a Herculean task of which I understand the trials and tribulations.
If you can afford it- get some elderberry supplement. It’s not as difficult to find as it was in 2020. Ideally you take it just regularly, in a pinch, start taking it as soon as you feel ick to lessen it.
Lots of garlic, pepper, and ginger in your food. That is all. Season your food. Good food, better immune system, no notes needed.
Here is where you’re going to laugh at me and tell me to fuck off- SLEEP. Look, I am well aware okay, I know. But even if you have insomnia like me, your body will get more rest just by laying down and closing your eyes than it will by not doing so even if you didn’t even hit light sleep let alone REM.
Okay that’s it. That’s the post. I am not going to call it no brainer stuff because all of these things I had to learn and some were definitely as an adult, so just in case nobody told you, it’s for you. If you’re adhd and forgot, this one’s also for you. I’m not claiming to be a health expert, I ain’t a doc, just an expert at trying to dodge urgent care while living in a dystopia with no health insurance and I don’t like seeing people down and feeling crappy. :D

My Reputation’s Never Been Worse
Chapter 10
A/N: I just reread this entire work and I think I forgot just how much I love this story. Your support of it means the world and I am determined to not let other projects with large fan bases (and therefore gain more traffic) get in the way of this one. This is one of my favorite chapters and I hope you enjoyed. I literally wrote it in a matter of hours today.
Halt was waiting for Will outside of the suite. “You should have told me she was sick.” Will said cooly.
“And when did you give me the opportunity to do so?” Halt replied evenly.
“You should have told me.” He repeated.
“I don’t think you understand how much of a shook it was to see you this morning Will. My mind hasn’t strung two thoughts together since I saw you.”
Will frowned, he didn’t know how to respond to that. Pauline had told him to make peace with Halt, and he would, he had to now. He knew he’d never be able to live with himself if he didn’t honor her wishes. But every time he saw Halt, all he could picture was his face at the trial. The brutal hate and angry directed at him. That face had haunted more of his dreams than he’d like to admit. How did he just let that go? How did he forgive and move on?
Instead of dwelling any longer on his internal debate, he switched the topic. “I should find Nyah and Miles. We need to figure out where we are going to sleep.”
Halt undoubtedly recognized Will’s sudden change of subject, but he went along with it. “There are more than enough rooms for you all here.”
“The last time I spent the night here I woke up to my execution. I won’t sleep within these wall’s tonight.”
“Fine, then stay at the inn.”
Will swallowed awkwardly. “I’m not sure that’s an option for the three of us at the moment. It’s fine, we can camp outside, it should be a clear night.”
“Why don’t you just stay at the inn? I’m sure they have at least two rooms available, it’s not as if there is a special occasion drawing people to the town.”
“It’s not a question of if the room are open, we just, well, Miles and I worked for room and board in Eisel. And Nyah hasn’t had spare coin for as long as I’ve known her.” Will admitted, trying his best to not feel ashamed. He was a hard worker and responsible with money, but any money he had managed to save in the past few years had been stolen when he first came to Eisel. After that, he had to make do with what he was given.
“I see. Well I’d be more than happy to-“
“I won’t take your money Halt.” Will interrupted.
“Why not? What am I going to do with it?”
“Save it for your golden years, they aren’t far off.”
_________________________________
That night, Will, Miles, and Nyah set up camp just outside of the palace’s walls. Miles crashed the moment he hit the ground, the stress of being in such a wildly different environment than what he was used to catching up with him. Nyah stayed awake for a while. She wordlessly studied Will’s face in the flickering light of the campfire. Finally she softly said, “They all love you so much. They, they are your family. There are a lot of people who would kill for what you have here. Don’t let your anger throw it all away.” Before Will could respond, she rolled over, facing away from him, and fell asleep.
Left in silence with his thoughts, Will looked up to the stars. Over the past five years, he had spent countless nights gazing at the heavens. The constellations had become his faithful companions, keeping him company whether he was hiding deep in the forest sick with fever, or being lulled to sleep on the deck of a ship. When he was a child Baron Arald had spent many nights pointing constellations out to the ward children. Horace and the girls had little interest in the evening walks, always complaining that they wanted to go to bed and while George appreciated the time to study the sky, he couldn’t care less about the stories that the Baron attached to each patter of stars. But Will treasured those nights. He’d give Arald his undivided attention, eagerly listening to the tales of heroes and monsters. His favorite was the story of Perseus. Will wanted desperately to grow up to be just like the legend. To protect his loved ones, slay the monster, and save the princess. Staring up at the twinkling constellation, Will felt a tear roll down his face. He had fallen so far from the heroes of his childhood. Now all he saw in the mirror was a wicked monster with black eyes and a blacker soul staring back at him. Seeing Pauline had dug up shame and guilt that he thought he had buried years ago. But her gentle, undying love had melted the ice that had hardened his conscious. She loved him, even when he didn’t love himself. Horace and Cassandra had seen him in Elisel, had seen the darkness that surrounded him like a cloak, and yet they were still holding him close. And Halt seemed desperate to mend the broken bond between them. Nyah’s words echoed in his head all night. Maybe it was possible to come back for good. Maybe their love would be enough. Or maybe, once the novelty of his presence wore off, they’d all realize he had fallen too far from grace for them to drag back to the pedestal they had once placed him on.
Will spent the night tossing and turning, dreaming of running through an endless black forest, skeletal hands reaching out for him. When dawn finally broke, he woke with a searing pain in his hip. His gasp woke Nyah, who hurried over to his side. He was taut with pain and his palms were dug into his eyes.
“What is it? What’s wrong?”
“Hip.” He said through gritted teeth. “Malcolm’s salve. Satchel.” Nyah rummaged through his bag until she found the jar of pain reliving cream Malcom had gifted Will after learning of how severe his pain could be from the old injury. “Hurry up.” He groaned.
Nyah rolled her eyes, “Always so bossy.” Her tone was teasing, but her eyes gave her worry away. She knew that he wasn’t in any danger, just pain, but it still stressed her to see him suffer.

Alyss, Cassandra, and Horace all met at the castle gate just as the sun was beginning to rise.
“Couldn’t sleep?” Cassandra asked them.
Alyss shook her head and Horace said, “I spent the entire night wondering if he’d still be here in the morning. I’m on my way to check.”
The three friends made their way to Will’s campsite. As they approached, they heard a low groan. Hurrying closer they saw Will laying on the ground, arms pressed over his head. His pants were unbuckled and pulled down to his hipbones. Nyah leaned over him, hand disappearing somewhere below his pants.
“I guess they are a little more than friends.” Horace remarked, unsure how to proceed. He glanced over to Alyss, who’s face was bright red and her eyes were cast down to the ground. Cassandra on the other hand had zero hesitation as she marched right up to the pair.
“Good morning to you both.“ She announced loudly.
Nyah’s head whipped up. “Your Highness! We were just, um…” She looked down the Will for support, but he just threw his arm over his eyes.
“It looks like he’s having a great morning already Cassie.” Horace smirked as he walked up besides Cassandra, Alyss staying slightly behind.
“Get your head out of the gutter Horace, it’s not what you think.” Will grumbled. He stood slowly and Nyah pulled her hand back, but kept it hovering by his side as she rose with him. Now that he was standing, Horace, Cassandra, and Alyss could clearly see the angry, knotted scar tissue on his hip, just above where his pants were resting dangerously low on his hips.
“I woke up in some really bad pain, must have slept on my hip.” He gestured to the injury. “Nyah was putting some ointment on it. Nothing so salacious as what you had in mind.” Will’s eyes fell on Alyss, noticing her presence for the first time that morning. A faint blush cast itself on his checks and he cleared his throat. “Anyway, what are you three doing here? Making sure I didn’t make a run for it in the middle of the night?”
“Exactly.” Cassandra affirmed without a trace of guilt.
Will scratched at his brow, “Well I guess I can’t blame you. But I promise, until I know that everything is settled in Eisel, I’m not going anywhere.”
“Except to the breakfast table, I’m starving.” Horace said.
Will pulled a shirt on and readjusted his pants, securing them over his scar with his discarded belt. “We just need to pack up. Nyah, you mind waking Miles up?” Will started to roll up his blanket and Nyah gently kicked Miles’ in the ribs.
“Let’s go find out what royalty eats for breakfast sleepyhead.” She says as Miles rubs sleep out of his eyes.
“Huh?” He blinked up to see Horace, Alyss, and Cassandra hovering around the campsite. His eyes fly open and he scrambles to his feet.
“Oh um, your royalnesses. I mean, majesties, or, something…”
“Horace and Cassandra is fine, that goes for the both of you.” Horace smiles.
Nyah grins at him. “Wow, I’m on a first name basis with royalty? Who would’ve thought?”
“Yeah it’s a pretty big deal.” Horace teased.
Cassandra looks between them. She knew that Horace would never imagine being unfaithful, but they had just walked in on Nyah having her hand shoved down his best friend’s pants, which apparently got Horace’s mind thinking things it, in Cassandra’s opinion, has no right thinking. She laced her arm with Horace’s, an action she saw Nyah clock and take note of the intention. Smiling Nyah took a step back and threw her pack over her shoulder. She offered Cassandra a slight, but meaningful nod of acknowledgement. The interaction surprised Cassandra. She frankly hadn’t expected the girl to be so aware and respectful of Cassandra’s feelings. It made her feel guilty for how she’s been thinking about Nyah, and she determined that she would be better at not reading into Nyah’s intentions.

Im assuming youve seen whats going on with the Supreme Court …. are you okay ? I know this mess is affecting so many people , I just wanted to check in . Sending love !
Thank you so, so much anon for checking in! I've seen it, yeah. I'm in a lot of childfree and chronic illness groups - both categories that rely on access to both BC and abortion - and things are... not going good.
I, personally, am safe, fortunately. I had to fight for it for almost 10 years, but I finally managed to get sterilized a couple years ago. Equally fortunate: the state I literally just moved to a few months ago is expanding access, whereas the state I was formerly in is one bad election away from becoming the deep South. So if my surgery did, in fact, fail, I'll have options. But a lot of my friends are still back there, or in other bad states, and I'm scared as hell for them tbh. I'm scared for my readers. I'm scared of the precedent this sets. I'm also left with this sick feeling of having dodged a bullet, because I was one of the people who would have needed access to BC and/or abortion, since BC can fail.
I have had health problems since I was 11. My medications and pregnancy do not mix, nor do my health issues. Even aside from never having an interest in having kids, it would be very, very bad for me. And I remember the fear I felt as a teenager. What if something terrible happened and I got pregnant? What if I got older and married and my BC failed? It was a game of waiting until I was 18, only to then discover the huge roadblock of doctors who are perfectly happy to stop you from permanently avoiding becoming pregnant. "Come back when you're 45." "Come back when you have three kids!" "But what if your future Mr. Right wants kids?" "This is too extreme, BC and abortion will always be there." "You'll change your mind." I finally found a doctor who'd do what I needed thanks to the Childfree Reddit's list of friendly doctors, and I literally walked out of the office after getting a surgery date, got into my car, and just cried. I felt so much relief because once it was done, I'd be safe. I'd be ok. I wouldn't have to live with this fear hanging over my head. And today I am painfully aware that all these roadblocks still exist for far, far too many people.
I'm tired of being afraid. I'm just really, really tired. So it was nice to have a check-in. <3 Much love back.
If you're looking for doctors friendly to birth control and sterilization, consider the Childfree Subreddit's list of doctors. That's how I found mine. It's not just for the CF folks either. If you don't want more kids, if you only want one kid, if you're having health issues solved by surgery and no one will do it, consider the list. It'll literally be a life saver now.

So our dishwasher went kaput on Thanksgiving. Like. Worst timing. So we went to the local appliance place the next day (yesterday) to see if we could pick out one in stock bc we would get it faster. We got a discount bc black Friday (note that this is a smol local place and we were the only people in there shopping at like 11am) and were given some options for delivery: Saturday (today), or any day tuesday-thursday. We were like well Saturday I guess bc it'd be good to have it asap. We mentioned that we might be at services this morning but we would make it work either way no problem.
I was sick so the parentals finished the Thanksgiving dishes by hand since we knew we weren't going to get the machine the same day, of course not. Even if it is in stock that's vastly unlikely.
6ish pm my house phone rings and we let it go, then dad gets a call on his cell and goes hm wait maybe it's the appliance guys calling to set up the time for tomorrow! So he answered it. And the guys like 'yeah so we have the dishwasher in the truck and we're a couple blocks away, you want us to come install it now?' And he's like uh. How long will it take?? Guy says 20 mins. So my dad's like oh okay, sure?
Like maybe 10 mins later the guys show up, they remove the old one, drain the line, install rhe new one, and are done in roughly 20 minutes. Gave em their tip and they were gone before my mom needed to pull in the driveway 5 mins later.
Tldr: dishwsher broke down on thanksgiving. we bought a new dishwasher yesterday expecting to get it today and instead the guys had it done in 20 mins around 6pm same day.
