365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
August 3rd - Firestar
Angelica Jones’ Mutant abilities manifested when she was thirteen years old. She discovered that she could generate intense microwaves of heat and fire. Following the sudden death of her grandmother, Angelica was left in the care of her father; a father ill-prepared to care for a daughter much less one possessing Mutant abilities.
Angelica was sought out by both Charles Xavier and Emma Frost, each of whom wanted to recruit the youngster into their Mutant training programs. Frost got to Angelica first and the easily persuaded teen accepted a position at the Massachusetts Academy.  Here Angelica became a member of Frost’s team of Mutant agents, The Hellions and she was given the alias of ‘Firestar.’  Although naive, Angelica was bright and eager to please and she flourished under Frost’s tutelage.  She quickly learned how to use her abilities to facilitate high speed flight and to shoot bolts of fire.
Frost continued to manipulate Angelica to ensure she remain a part of the Massachusetts Academy.  Angelica was finally able to shake free from Frost’s thrall and ventured out on her own.  Through happenstance, she ended up in New York when the city was attacked by the extraterrestrial villain, Terrax.  Firestar teamed up with Night Thrasher, Speedball, Marvel Boy, Nova and Namorita and together they defeated the foe.  The young heroes had fought well together and decided to form a team; thus Firestar became a founding member of The New Warriors.
She would go on to have countless adventures alongside the New Warriors and during this time Firestar fell in love with her teammate, Marvel Boy (Vance Astrovik).   The two were eventually engaged to marry, but Angelica ultimately called the wedding off feeling that they were both too young to get married.
The New Warriors ultimately disbanded and Firestar was recruited into the ranks of The Avengers.  She proved an excellent edition to the team and served well as an Avenger.  Yet she stepped down and retired from super heroics so to try to live a normal life.
Soon thereafter, Angelica learned that her microwave-based powers had contributed to her developing stage four breast cancer.    She responded poorly to treatment yet one day woke up feeling fine and she and her doctors were amazed to discover she was entirely cancer free.  All this had been orchestrated by the black magic of Daimon Hellstrom and it turned out that Angelica’s friend, Patsy Walker, had traded her freedom to Hellstrom on the condition that he use his sorcery to cure Angelica.
Vowing to repay Patsy, Angelica resumed her role as Firestar and teamed up with Spectrum and The Black Cat to free Patsy.  They succeeded and Angelica continued on as a hero.  She briefly joined the new hero team called The Young Allies.  She next accepted a post as an adjunct faculty member at Wolverine’s Jean Grey School for Gifted Youngsters.
More recently, Angelica has relocated the Mutant nation of Krakoa and she since been elected to serve on the main flagship X-Men squad.
Firestar originally appeared in the animated series, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends; her first comic book appearance was in the pages of Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #193 (1985).

(Animated) Doctor Strange over the years.
I need more power. I want to be able to move worlds and shake them to their foundations. I want enough power in my hands to tear planets from the heavens and place them in a new sky.

The Many, MANY Intros Of Spider-Man> Swinging Into The 1980s
BW Media Spotlight reaches the "it's my childhood" portion of The Many, MANY Intros Of Spider-Man when we go Swinging Into The 1980s
While I saw every other Spider-Man show in reruns (except for Spidey Super Stories) now we start getting to shows I watched at the time of airing…and one I only saw in reruns. That will make more sense in a moment. Super Friends was one of my favorite Saturday Morning shows and why I was a DC person until they screwed it all up. Marvel didn’t really have a show that ran that long and I’m not sure…

Polling: FIRESTAR
Marvel Strike Force is getting Firestar. She's decently popular with @MarvelChampions Summoners, recently at at rank 69. Do you think this Amazing Friend of Spider-Man (and Iceman) should be in the #MCOC Battlerealm? Vote!

Wanna know a minor pet peeve of mine?
It’s when spider folk have 8 legs, but also have a pair of arms. Giving them 10 limbs total? Madness.
Tumblr media
I first noticed this when I was watching Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends of all things. Where they give the Arachnoid 8 limbs total. Which feels correct.
Tumblr media
Now, I’ll acknowledge that you could make the argument that the arms are more like a spider’s pedipalps. But then. Why does this keep happening?!
Tumblr media
Like, sure. Turning legs into pedipalps. I get that. Very charming. But there are. So. Many. Limbs. And I am mildly annoyed by it.
