Whumptober 2023 | Day 28 | Prompt 28: Sacrifice
Rating: G
Words: 593
Summary: Fives sits with Echo while he grieves lost brothers.
Fives wakes up in the middle of his sleep cycle to the sound of the barrack’s door sliding open and closed. He glances at his chrono. There isn’t a shift change for another two hours. He leans over the side of his bed to look down at Echo’s lower bunk. Empty.
Worried, Fives kicks off his blankets, drops to the floor, and makes his way out of the barracks as quietly as his sleep addled brain will allow.
Fives can’t help but marvel at how quickly the destruction of the battle has been cleaned up. There are still major repairs that need to be done to the outside of the city; however, the halls, which only a few hours earlier were stained in the blood of their brothers, are back to their pristine, sterile white. Like nothing even happened, like lives weren’t lost. Swept away like a bad mark on a record.
If it had been natborns killed on their home planet…
Thinking like that doesn’t help or change anything, so Fives pushes it to the back of his mind, putting his focus on finding his batch mate. Echo doesn’t usually go off on his own, and certainly not in the middle of the night when he doesn’t have a shift of some sort. So, Fives wanders on hastened steps, checking down each hall he passes.
He ends up at their old training room, the door’s lock unactivated. He goes inside.
Echo sits on one of the benches along the far wall. He is leaning forward, elbows propped on his knees, hands knotted together in tight fists, head bowed. Fives sits down next to him but doesn’t say anything. Echo doesn’t move, absolutely still. Fives sits back against the wall, eyes taking in the familiar room shrouded in darkness, the only light coming from the safety lamps dimly illuminating the floor.
After several long minutes, when Echo still hasn’t moved or acknowledged him, Fives asks, “Are you alright?”
Echo’s head turns slightly. “I should be.”
“On who’s orders?” Fives leans forward, mirroring Echo, so that they are shoulder to shoulder. He nudges him. “Is it about Ninety-Nine?”
“It’s about all of it,” Echo growls. “It’s about every sacrifice we make for the Republic. I know what I said to Rex and Cody, but…it’s not fair. And I know that life isn’t fair, and never will be — but I’m tired of watching our brothers being used as cannon fodder.”
Fives reaches over and tugs on Echo’s wrist until Echo gives him his hand. Fives grips it painfully tight. “You can’t think like that, Echo. Our brothers deserve to be remembered for the heroes they were, for the lives they saved. Ninety-Nine died exactly where he wanted to be…on the front lines serving with his brothers. And we were there for it, Echo, we got to fight alongside him.”
Echo grips back. “I know,” he whispers.
“He’d be proud of us,” Fives goes on, “becoming ARCs. Domino Squad too. After they got over the shock, that is.”
A ghost of a smile trembles on Echo’s lips. “You didn’t seem surprised today, when they told us about our promotions.”
“I’ve always known we’d make ARCs someday,” Fives says.
“You could’ve let me in on the secret.”
Fives chuckles. “And ruin the surprise? I wouldn’t deprive you of that.”
“I miss them, Fives.” Echo’s voice breaks on the syllable of Fives’ name.
Fives wraps an arm around Echo’s shoulders, holding tight. “I know. I miss them too.”
And that’s when Echo finally begins to cry.

BB Season 3 Trailer Breakdown
I am very excited, as you know, for the final season of The Bad Batch. Despite its ups and downs, this show means a lot to me and I adore the characters, particularly Omega and Crosshair. So, without further ado, here we go!
The trailer starts off with the Empire pursuing the boys on a turbo tank as they escape from some sort of facility (I think). Later in the trailer, we see the same tank firing upon the Empire while they head away from wherever they are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair (he can be seen for a split second) realize that they can't get out of trouble with the tank, Phee drops in to pick them up, commenting "not exactly a stealth exit boys." This makes me wonder if the boys snuck in to get information on Hemlock or Mt. Tantiss. I also believe that this sequence with the tank chase correlates to the episode titled "Juggernaut." It makes sense to use a name meaning something big while the Batch are in a huge tank.
We then see some sort of transport (?) ship headed towards Coruscant. The next shot is of Rex and Hunter talking so maybe they're on the ship. Rex says that ending the war would mean that the clones would no longer be killed in battle. However, we see that's not the case; the clones are still used as soldiers, experiments, or left to die without a thought. The end of the Clone Wars only made things worse for them.
While Rex says this, we briefly see the palace on Teth, burning. I believe this is where we'll see Ventress as that's where we first meet her in Clone Wars. However, this is pure speculation because the only other place I can see her being is Dathomir. Then, we see a downed ship with two figures walking away from the wreckage. Based on the image of Omega desperately piloting a ship later in the trailer, I think she and Crosshair somehow managed to escape. Unfortunately, only Crosshair was able to actually get out. I think we could see this event happening between episodes 5-8.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Rex then says he was wrong about the clones' fate before we get a brief flashback to the railcar incident and Tech falling to his presumed death. Rex continues on, saying "we can't just walk away" whilst images of an imperial occupation flash by. Citizens run away in terror so this could either be Pabu, found at last, or another planet in which the Batch travel to. Rex finishes by saying "not with the Empire imprisoning the kid."
Then, we cut to images from Mt. Tantiss, including post and pre-time skip Omega. Omega walks in and sees a broken Crosshair. Since this looks like the first two are seeing each other, I think these are shots from the first episode "Confined." Hemlock is shown next saying to secure Omega in her cell. There are two Delta Squad commandos behind him. Now, I'm not sure what Omega is holding in the cell, but it looks like she's being scanned. We also see Emerie looking somewhat unhappy. Hunter says that Omega's been waiting for them for a long time and we see her pre-time skip in a cell overlooking the outside world. Perhaps this is a privilege for cooperating? Hunter also says a "long time," so I'm guessing that it's been at least a year since season 2. Hunter concludes with that the Batch's mission isn't over yet.
The next several scenes show a ship being chased (maybe the one Omega is flying?) and what I assume to be a mirrored shot of Hunter and Wrecker because of their facial characteristics being flipped. Then, we see Palpatine with Nala Se and Hemlock saying that their operation is most important to the Empire's future and Hemlock will have everything he needs. My crazy theory? He wants to build an army of force sensitive clones. Will this come true? Idk.
The Empire is seen firing upon a ship (again, the one Omega stole?) and we get a glimpse of a new antagonist, the dark armor-clad figure commanding the TK troopers. While I Initially thought it was Cross because of the helmet design, I feel like that's backpedaling on this character arc so I'm gonna say it's Tech or CX-1, a new clone we see later. If it is CX-1, then it makes sense why we hear him say that the Batch will be hunted down. I'm not sure who this is but I'll be theorizing later. Speaking of that line from CX-1, we see flashes of Fennec, Cad Bane, and Nala Se. While Cad Bane will definitely be after then, I think Fennec will help because she's spotted on the boat when Hunter almost gets eaten by an alligator.
We later see in the trailer, Hunter on Pabu, Wolffe hopefully leading an early clone rebellion, and two clones running towards a big explosion. I'm not sure what's happening, but it could happen during the "Infiltration" and "Extraction" episodes. There's also a clone with a flamethrower so it could be during the same sequence. There's one shot of Echo walking towards... the Batch, Rex... idk. We'll find out together.
Wrecker, in true fashion, asks for a "real challenge" so I think we hear this in the episode "Paths Unknown." It sounds like the Batch are trying to get money or something to pick themselves back up. There are several shots of ships flying; to where, I'm not sure. Hunter and Wrecker are also getting ready to fight. We see the same two clones from earlier in combat and Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair aiming at someone. Hunter says they're not big on following orders. This is proceeded by more shots of Tantiss, TK troopers being attacked by creatures, and troopers being shot at. Hunter tries to hijack a gunship as well. Maybe this happens during "Flash Strike" or the other action heavy episodes. We'll see.
The trailer ends with Asajj Ventress, alive and well, swinging her yellow saber as blaster bolts fly at her. She says that she doesn't plan on killing "you," but "you're" making it very tempting. She might be talking to the Batch. Based on the shot of Hunter and Wrecker, maybe they ask her for information on Tantiss or she is hunting them down. Idk.
Anyways, that's all I have for now. I will be doing some theories on CX-1 and the mysterious imperial as well as what I think might happen based on episode titles and Palpatine's ultimate plan so stay tuned for that!

So I actually have a Star Wars story to tell (it’s a core memory): Echo has always been my favorite clone trooper. My family, especially my brother and I, started watching The Clone Wars during season 1 and we became mega-fans (I was 9, he was 6, literally the target demo). Every Friday we’d watch the new episodes, then Saturday we’d go to star wars dot com and watch all the behind-the-scenes content. We missed the first time “Rookies” aired, but we saw the behind the scenes content for it, and caught it on reruns. We immediately knew Fives and Echo were our favorite clones, he picked Fives so I picked Echo. But we were so disappointed when they weren’t in the rest of Season 1 or 2. But we were absolutely stoked for the series 3 premiere when we heard Fives and Echo were in it. And then they were gonna be ARC troopers? We were losing our minds. Our favorite boys, ARC troopers‽ Unfortunately for me, the Citadel arc happened next. Don’t get me wrong, we loved seeing the Dominos in the phase 1.5 armor. But for some reason we missed the end of episode 2 of the arc (where Echo dies), and when the bts content said Echo died I was inconsolable. I refused to ever watch the ending of that episode for YEARS. When Fives kept showing up in seasons 4 and 5 (Umbara arc is like my favorite SW movie), I was always jealous that my brother’s fave was still around and mine wasn’t. Then TCW was cancelled and I thought that was the end of it.
About a year later, I heard they made half of a Season 6 but it was only on Netflix. It took me a while to figure out how to watch it (on the high seas, as my family didn’t have Netflix), but I was in high school now. The first arc having Fives discover order 66 and coming this close to exposing it? I’d been thinking about that kind of story for forever (my favorite Star Wars AUs are where order 66 didn’t happen or was disobeyed). I was so excited to tell my brother…until I saw s7e4 and Fives died. My brother was just as sad/mad as I was when Echo died. But I finished Season 6 and thought that was the end…until I went onto star wars dot com and saw that there were unfinished animations for some episodes called “the Bad Batch”. And then…my world became whole. ECHO WAS ALIVE!!!!! Sure it was janky af, felt dubiously canon, he had been thru hell and was now a cyborg, but MY BABY BOY! My brother was, of course, just as jealous that my clone was alive and his wasn’t.
Then 4 years later. TCW Season 7 was announced. The Bad Batch arc would be in glorious HD. Echo was firmly alive and hanging out with the Bad Batch. And he got me thru lockdown, as TCW was one of my comfort shows I’d watch and s7 was airing in April/May 2020. And the Bad Batch were gonna get their own show? Hell fucking yeah.
Here we are, 16 years after Echo first graced my small TV screen, and he’s still my fave. I see a lot of myself in him. How by-the-book he used to be and isn’t anymore, how his life fundamentally changed and now’s not exactly a man (I figured out my sexuality, gender, and disabilities in 2019 right before TCW s7 remastered Echo’s return). I would almost certainly die inside again if he dies in the TBB finale. Anyway I’ve never shared anything this personal about Star Wars with anyone and TBB tumblr definitely seems like the kind of people who want to hear this.

The Missing Episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars
This post has nothing to do with Disney or their movies.
Hello. Star Wars is extremely close to my heart, and extremely important to me. As a narrative and a creative work, I believe Star Wars is unique and distinctive. I believe that Star Wars is now in an unfinished state, and will more than likely remain so forever, but my anti-Disney tirades can go in another post. The series had 5 seasons conventionally constructed, intentionally sequenced and released weekly on television, and 1 season released in bulk on a streaming service, Netflix. Altogether, this covers 121 episodes of the series released before Disney's interference.
However, this is not all of the information we have. You'll notice that, next to every single episode title, there is a sequence of two numbers. This sequence is that episode's production code; the first digit is the production block, while the next two digits are the episode's particular order within the production block. This information is more pertinent for a look at the series from a production standpoint, so here is that information put together:
BLOCK 1 - This block contains episodes from Seasons 1 and 2.
1.02 - "Downfall of a Droid" (S1E6) 1.05 - "Bombad Jedi" (S1E8) 1.06 - "Duel of the Droids" (S1E7) 1.07 - "Rising Malevolence" (S1E2) 1.08 - "Ambush" (S1E1) 1.09 - "Shadow of Malevolence" (S1E3) 1.10 - "Cloak of Darkness" (S1E9) 1.11 - "Destroy Malevolence" (S1E4) 1.12 - "Lair of Grievous" (S1E10) 1.13 - "Cargo of Doom" (S2E2) 1.14 - "Rookies" (S1E5) 1.15 - "Storm Over Ryloth" (S1E19) 1.16 - "Dooku Captured" (S1E11) 1.17 - "Innocents of Ryloth" (S1E20) 1.19 - "Liberty on Ryloth" (S1E21) 1.20 - "The Gungan General" (S1E12) 1.21 - "Voyage of Temptation" (S2E13) 1.22 - "Jedi Crash" (S1E13) 1.23 - "Holocron Heist" (S2E1) 1.24 - "Defenders of Peace" (S1E14) 1.25 - "Trespass" (S1E15) 1.26 - "Blue Shadow Virus" (S1E17)

5.01 - "Eminence" (S5E14) 5.02 - "Shades of Reason" (S5E15) 5.03 - "The Lawless" (S5E16) 5.04 - "Secret Weapons" (S5E10) 5.05 - "A Sunny Day in the Void" (S5E11) 5.06 - "Missing in Action" (S5E12) 5.07 - "Point of No Return" (S5E13) 5.08 - "Sabotage" (S5E17) 5.09 - "The Jedi Who Knew Too Much" (S5E18) 5.10 - "To Catch a Jedi" (S5E19) 5.11 - "The Wrong Jedi" (S5E20) 5.12 - "The Unknown" (S6E1) 5.13 - "Conspiracy" (S6E2) 5.14 - "Fugitive" (S6E3) 5.15 - "Orders" (S6E4) 5.16 - "The Disappeared, Part I" (S6E8) 5.17 - "The Disappeared, Part II" (S6E9) 5.18 - "The Lost One" (S6E10) 5.19 - "Voices" (S6E11) 5.20 - "Destiny" (S6E12) 5.21 - "Sacrifice" (S6E13)
Looking at this list, gaps are plainly evident. 1.01, 1.03, 1.04, and 1.18 are all missing, and Block 5 is 5 episodes shorter than the previous 4 blocks. Where are these episodes?
The missing episodes from Block 1 are easy; they were cannibalized and stitched together to make the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film. The film is 98 minutes long, while episodes of the series are typically around 22 minutes long; 22 minutes per episode times 4 episodes is 88 minutes total runtime, 10 minutes short of the film's runtime. Those 10 minutes are likely the credits and polishing for the film's theatrical release, if not simply the episodes themselves being slightly longer.
Therefore, we can add these to the list:
1.01 - The Clone Wars Film (FILM) 1.03 - The Clone Wars Film (FILM) 1.04 - The Clone Wars Film (FILM) 1.18 - The Clone Wars Film (FILM)
This resolves the issue of the missing episodes from Block 1, meaning that all of the episodes produced before 5.22 were released. This gives us a total of 125 episodes. But what about Episode 5.22 and the rest of Block 5?
This is where the trail gets murky. Fans of the series who were around when it was cancelled may recall The Clone Wars Legacy, the plan to release content from the series in different means in order to not waste the work that went into it. Some may think that this simplifies things. In fact, it does the opposite.
Here is a list of all the content from The Clone Wars Legacy:
Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir, a comic adapting a 4-episode arc covering Darth Maul's story after getting captured by Darth Sidious at the end of "The Lawless", released by Dark Horse Comics.
Dark Disciple, a novel adapting either an 8-episode arc or two related 4-episode arcs covering Asajj Ventress' story after her last appearance in "The Wrong Jedi".
Crystal Crisis on Utapau, a rough story reel of incomplete episodes of a 4-episode arc, covering the emotional fallout of Ahsoka's departure from the Jedi Order after the events of "The Wrong Jedi".
The Bad Batch, a rough story reel of incomplete episodes of a 4-episode arc, intending to work as a backdoor pilot of sorts to a spin-off series focusing on the titular Bad Batch.
Those keeping track of the numbers will quickly spot that we have the content of 20 episodes released as The Clone Wars Legacy. This does not easily fill in the gaps we have, nor does it finish things off neatly.
The production codes of the original episodes adapted into the material for The Clone Wars Legacy are known. The production codes of the in-production 20 episodes are listed below:
BLOCK 6 - This block has 16 known episodes.
6.01 - "A Death on Utapau" (REEL) 6.02 - "In Search of the Crystal" (REEL) 6.03 - "Crystal Crisis" (REEL) 6.04 - "The Big Bang" (REEL) 6.09 - "The Bad Batch" (REEL) 6.10 - "A Distant Echo" (REEL) 6.11 - "On the Wings of Keeradaks" (REEL) 6.12 - "Unfinished Business" (REEL) 6.13 - "Lethal Alliance" (BOOK) 6.14 - "The Mission" (BOOK) 6.15 - "Conspirators" (BOOK) 6.16 - "Dark Disciple" (BOOK) 6.21 - "The Enemy of My Enemy" (BOOK) 6.22 - "A Tale of Two Apprentices" (BOOK) 6.23 - "Proxy War" (BOOK) 6.24 - "Showdown on Dathomir" (BOOK)
BLOCK 7 - This block has 4 known episodes.
7.05 - "Saving Vos, Part I" (BOOK) 7.06 - "Saving Vos, Part II" (BOOK) 7.07 - "Traitor" (BOOK) 7.08 - "The Path" (BOOK)
While we can add these to the list of produced episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, this raises more questions than answers. Not only was there a Block 6, but there was also a Block 7 as well. Block 7 is nearly entirely unknown, while Block 6 also has gaps, and, to top it all off, none of the things we gain from this are in Block 5, meaning those episodes are still unknown as well.
However, we do gain one answer from this: the production blocks got shorter. The last episode of Block 6 is 6.24, not 6.26 as one might expect from Blocks past. This makes Block 5's gap a little more clear-cut; it means we're only missing 5.22 through 5.24. That's 3 episodes, a common arc length. If Block 5 was as long as the other blocks, that would be 5 episodes missing, which could be either a 4-episode arc and a standalone episode, or a 2-episode arc and a 3-episode arc. All still common arc lengths, but not as clear-cut.
Of course, there's no definitive proof that the blocks got shorter. It's possible there'a 5.25 and 5.26 and a 6.25 and a 6.26. That would be a 2-episode arc missing from Block 6, as well.
The only "proof" I have seen stating that the blocks got shorter, besides the lack of trails for a theoretical 6.25 and 6.26 confirming that Block 6 remained the same length, and therefore Block 5 must have, as well, is a statement by Pablo Hidalgo on Twitter, stating that there is no 5.25 or 5.26. I do not know where he gets his information from, and his relationship with Lucasfilm is murky to me, so I'm hesitant to just accept it as fact. There's also the fact that he could be lying to cover Lucasfilm and/or Disney for the sake of money and employment.
This is not an allegation or a statement of belief, merely an acknowledgement of possibility.
However, the production blocks do seem to be 26 episodes long specifically just to cover the film initially, which leaves 22 episodes for the regular season; since Season 5 definitively got reduced by 2 episodes, it's entirely possible that the production blocks did also get reduced by 2 episodes, and the new season length merely reflects this.
All this does is muddy the waters, however. Without solid answers, we've got next to nothing to go on.
Except Disney.
Of course, Disney resurrected the rotting corpse of Star Wars: The Clone Wars to be completely sure that the money well within was completely dry, before discarding it and moving on to whatever live action thing they're working on now. These episodes do, however, give us some information. Listed below are the episodes Disney released:
BLOCK 6
6.05 - "Gone with a Trace" (DISNEY) 6.06 - "Deal No Deal" (DISNEY) 6.07 - "Dangerous Debt" (DISNEY) 6.08 - "Together Again" (DISNEY)
BLOCK 7 7.21 - "Old Friends Not Forgotten" (DISNEY) 7.22 - "The Phantom Apprentice" (DISNEY) 7.23 - "Shattered" (DISNEY) 7.24 - "Victory and Death" (DISNEY)
While these episodes have been "adapted" (read: scrubbed and censored) by Disney, the fact that they continue to use the original production codes leads me to believe that these episodes originated as original episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. However, they've been written or additionally written by Dave Filoni, who, aside from assisting with one episode ("Lethal Trackdown", S2E22, 2.20), was not a writer on the series until after Disney bought the property; he was a director. This tells me that the direction he took the episodes in was not their originally intended direction, but rather, the Disney-approved direction given to him. This says, to me, that we cannot pull any information from these episodes besides possibly basic premises, as these are not the original episodes with renewed production, but new "adaptations" of what was being produced when the series was cancelled.
However, this does give us new information, in telling us that the final episodes of Block 7 were the finale of the series. This feels too large of a fact to be new or changed; I feel that, while the content and direction of 7.21 through 7.24 may have changed, them being the series finale is just too big of a basic premise to ignore or change. If it isn't, then why make those episodes the finale of the revived series? Why not 7.01 through 7.04, or invent new numbers in 6.25 through 6.28?
Therefore, going off that conclusion, we have a solid ending point: 7.24, the end of the final production block, Block 7.
This also supports the idea that the production blocks get shorter with Block 5, as, while 5.24 is not known, both 6.24 and 7.24 seem to be the end of their blocks.
Therefore, with all this information, I feel we can see a basic roadmap of where Star Wars: The Clone Wars was going to go, and what Disney took from us. Looking at a list of the production blocks:
Block 1: 26 episodes Block 2: 26 episodes Block 3: 26 episodes Block 4: 26 episodes Block 5: 24 episodes Block 6: 24 episodes Block 7: 24 episodes
If all information is correct, this means LucasFilm were planning on producing 176 episodes of the series. Looking at a list of the released episodes before the buyout:
Season 1: 22 episodes Season 2: 22 episodes Season 3: 22 episodes Season 4: 22 episodes Season 5: 20 episodes Season 6: 13 episodes
This means that LucasFilm released 121 of their ostensibly planned 176 episodes. Adding the 4 episodes used for the film gives us 125.
Subtracting these two gives us a figure of 51 episodes remaining. These 51 episodes were likely in various stages of completion when the buyout occurred.
Looking at the seasons, Season 6 is not constructed like the rest, but rather, a bulk release of product. Assuming that Season 5 was intended to be the new model going forward, we can subtract 7 of those 51 unreleased episodes to round out Season 6 to it's intended length of 20 episodes.
This leaves us with 44 episodes. Divide that by 2, and you get 22 episodes. 22 episodes for a theoretical Season 7 and a theoretical Season 8.
Out of the 51 episodes not completed and released by LucasFilm, 28 have been adapted and released via other means. This leaves at least 23 episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars about which we know absolutely nothing, listed below:
5.22 5.23 5.24 6.17 6.18 6.19 6.20 7.01 7.02 7.03 7.04 7.09 7.10 7.11 7.12 7.13 7.14 7.15 7.16 7.17 7.18 7.19 7.20
These include a 3-episode arc from Block 5, a 4-episode arc from Blocks 6 and 7, and almost the entirety of the middle of Block 7.
These numbers are not solid. It's possible that Blocks 5 through 7 were intended to be 26 episodes as all the others were. That would add 6 episodes, for 182 planned episodes, and 57 uncompleted, about which we know nothing about 29 of them.
It's possible that Seasons 5 and 6 were intended to be 22 episodes as all the other seasons were, and things simply didn't work out that way. This would mean 11 episodes would be needed to round out the seasons, rather than 0 for Season 5 and 7 for Season 6.
This could leave us with 40 or 42 episodes to divide between a theoretical Season 7 and 8. 2 seasons of 20 episodes, or a season of 20 and a season of 22.
There are many possibilities, wrapped in shadows and behind closed doors, regarding this series. We will likely never know the facts, simply because the facts are nebulous and were not, nor ever will be, solidified.
But we can know for sure is that the original intended versions of Blocks 6 and 7, plus the final 3 episodes of Block 5, will likely never be finished, and that we have lost George Lucas' original vision for this series. Those 51 episodes, while potentially getting adapted, will never be released or even completed the way they were originally intended.
(Although George Lucas has stated previously that Star Wars is "like poetry, it rhymes", this series does seem to be lacking in rhyming. Production blocks and season lengths both change midway through, and there seems to have been intended 8 seasons, which is annoyingly only 1 short from matching the intended number of Star Wars movies: 9.)
This is a tremendous shame, because Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a fantastic series which lovingly and accurately adapts a big-screen property for the small screen, tells a dense, varied, but cohesive story, and expands the universe that so many of us have loved since 1977.
We wanted to know about the Clone Wars since that time, and we finally got it. While we may never see the original, epic conclusion, we should still be grateful for 6 seasons of wonderful television.
This post was typed listening to the theme for Star Wars: The Clone Wars on repeat for about 3 hours. As stated at the top, all information is publicly and freely available on Wikipedia.
Thanks for reading.

huge jump in quality from clone wars season 1 to season 2 as the percentage of horseshit episodes gets steadily replaced by mediocre to good episodes, then an insane leap in quality from 2 to 3. the fights in the ARC Troopers episode almost feel like they're showing off, like 'hey check it out, we got a bigass budget and we know how to use it now. check out the way shaakti's dress moves. check out the little asshole flourishes anakin's doing in his fights.' third episode wasn't good but i'd start to be suspicious if the show started getting too good

2, 3 and 15 for star wars fave/least fave please
Thank you @locitapurplepink for the ask!!!!!
2. Fave/Least Fave paring
Fave: One of my faves (though technically not canon yet) is Sabine and Ezra. Sabine is my favorite SWR character, and I love her and Ezra’s dynamic. Especially into seasons 3-4. @sidesofmayo I used your gif 😍
Tumblr media
Fave: My fave canon pairing is probably Kanan and Hera, only because I thought they were a couple from day 1 of watching rebels, that when i finally got to the episode where they kiss, I went ballistic because they finally confirmed it!!!!
Tumblr media
Least Fave: My least favorite is Finn and Rey. I don’t understand why so many people like that ship. I respect that they do, but I ship Reylo, and honestly I’m not a fan of Finn. I think his character could’ve been really cool, and I just feel like they wrote Finn’s character arc poorly. Come on! An ex-first order trooper? And it wasn’t John Boyega. He did a great job acting. But that’s just my opinion!
Tumblr media
Least Fave: This is also based on my opinion. Lux and Ahsoka, and the only reason why is because I ship Rex and Ahsoka (specifically season 7 when Ahsoka is a little older). And why is that a big deal to me? Because they never established a ship for Ahsoka, and because of that, I feel like the fandom can be really harsh at times about their shipping choices, and that no one else can be right, and that really bothers me. Why can’t we respect that we have different opinions? But even so, I think they are cute together. I just like Rexsoka better.
Tumblr media
3. Fave/Least Fave tv show episode
Fave: My favorite that always has been and always will be is “Trials of the Darksaber.” Sabine is my girl, and Kanan is her daddy, and I love their dynamic relationship so much, and this is one of very few that they actually dive into it!
Tumblr media
Fave: I also love the episodes in Bad Batch with Cad Bane! Hunter getting shot… omega telling hunter she needs him, it’s just… AAAAAAH! Precious!
Tumblr media
Least Fave: The episodes in clone wars with the droids and the tiny jedi I think. Those episodes were so boring in my opinion!
Tumblr media
15. Fave/Least Fave line of dialog
Fave: Surprise surprise, it’s from SWR, and even better, “trials of the Darksaber”. When Sabine literally burst full of emotions and releases them on Kanan! I know that whole episode pretty much word for word, and I just… again… AAAAAAH!
Tumblr media
Fave: one that has also become a personal favorite is actually from Freemaker Adventures, during the bike chase through the Wheel! When Zander turns around and goes “Is that Becky Smoochenbacher?” And it’s a fire extinguisher! Along with this line, and if you’ve seen Freemaker adventures, you know exactly what I am talking about!
Tumblr media
Least Fave: Honestly probably Anakin’s “I hate sand” speech. As funny and the memes have become and yes I laugh about the scene quite often… it still… in the grand total of the movie, it was just poorly written dialog! Which is honestly why it’s so funny!

Why we need a Dooku Series
Star Wars Tales of the Jedi has recently released a trailer. The show will mainly star the Jedi Ahsoka Tano and Dooku back when he was a Jedi Master. Tales of the Jedi is a short six-episode series which 15-minute-long episodes. For Ahsoka, we know she is also getting her own Ahsoka series. It is possible that Tales of the Jedi is a test to gauge the popularity of a potential Dooku series while also generating hype for Ahsoka’s upcoming show.
Info: CIS/Separatists= Dooku’s Faction that broke off from the Republic in the Star Wars Prequels... Canon= Official Star Wars storyline under Disney after it bought out Star Wars in 2013
1. Tales of the Jedi isn’t enough Dooku content
I’ve already said it but yea. While Dooku is a major character in this, keep in mind that Ahsoka also is but she is also getting an Ahsoka series in addition to this.
youtube
2. The Dooku series can use a different artstyle for Dooku
Ok, I believe Jedi Dooku looks kind of like Dooku in the trailer but to me, I’m not a huge fan of his art style. I’d like to see an animated Dooku that looks more like this photoshopped picture. I know he has a big nose but I felt the art made it look a little too big.
Tumblr media
3. We could see Dooku and Yoda fight together and learn about their master-apprentice relationship
Tumblr media
4. Ventress (Origin Story)
We could get a Ventress origin story and learn what she did after her Jedi Master was killed. Even though it’s a Dooku show they could dedicate an entire arc to Ventress. During one of the later seasons, Dooku might read holonet information about her starting from what she did after her master was killed by pirates and she was stranded. Ventress may have become the leader of a local gang, learned how to become an expert pilot after her gang mentor trained her, perhaps her mentor was killed by a new group of muraders led by a fallen Jedi, and Ventress had the defeat the fallen Jedi and his gang on her own.
youtube
We could then get a story about how one of the people who snipped her old master escaped and she never caught him. Ventress later gets an opportunity to get revenge on that man as stated in the canon novel “Dooku: Jedi Lost”. The tournament likely looked something like this.
youtube
We could also see more of Dooku training Ventress and fighting alongside her. While some may say this was done in Dooku: Jedi Lost, we can argue the same thing about scenes in Ahsoka that were later used in Star Wars the Clone Wars Season 7 and now Star Wars Tales of the Jedi.
We could also see some of Ventress’s early missions against the clones and Republic. We could see her take down some arc troopers, defeat a pair of Jedi, and kill Master Tholme.
5. General Grievous (origin story)
Tumblr media
Grievous is one of the most beloved characters in Star Wars. We could get a four-episode ARC that shows how he became a legendary CIS general. He was once a deadly alien General. We could see one of his early battles, how he became crippled and recruited by Dooku, learn about his magnaguards and how Grievous made them resemble his old comrades, wtiness his first fight when he protected CIS leaders in Geonosis, and see one of his first early military victories (perhaps the Battle of Hypori remastered).
6. Jango Fett (Battle of Galidraan)
Tumblr media
Perhaps Jango’s first origin story can be saved for a Jango Fett series, movie, or video game however Jango’s first major conflict with the Jedi and the demise of the True Mandalorians would be amazing to see in a Dooku series. Especially since Dooku, led the army that destroyed Jango’s Mandalorian clan and it was all manufactured by the DEATH WATCH (a villainous Mandalorian faction in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series). During that battle, Jango took down several Jedi Knights himself which earned Dooku’s respect.
Perhaps we could see Jedi Dooku personally take down Jango in a short fight. Without his clan, Jango is forced to start over as a bounty hunter. Then later in the series Dooku returns and gives him an offer he can’t refuse.
7. Durge
Tumblr media
Durge is a bounty hunter who initially appeared in the 2002 Clone Wars miniseries. After Disney took over, that series is no longer canon. However, lots of concepts from old canon Star Wars material has been brought back to the Disney universe. Durge returned to canon in the Marvel comic which started that he fought in the Clone Wars.
8. Dooku’s undercover mission
Perhaps Dooku first went on his own mission taking down several mercenaries, droids, capturing/blackmailing a corrupt politician (maybe Nute Gunray but later earning his loyalty), fighting bounty hunters, and taking on cult leaders before he discovered Sidious.
It could end with an intense duel between Dooku and Sidious that Sidious ultimately wins.
Tumblr media
9. Sifo Dyas
Sifo was one of Dooku’s best friends. He left the Jedi order but later had a vision about the Republic’s fall. He was played by Dooku and Sidious and used to create a Clone army (which is referenced in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones). It would be nice to see more of him and to learn about his rapport with Dooku.
Tumblr media
10. Dooku’s Sith Lord reign
Most of Dooku’s time as a Sith Lord was before the Clone Wars. Back then, he was a smooth Sith politician working in the shadows. During most cases, he was doing more networking and blackmailing than someone like Darth Maul who was an assassin before Episode 1. Still, Dooku had to act as an assassin during different scenarios when blackmail and politics weren’t enough to get the point across. And Dooku was Sidious’s most powerful disciple during the decade between Episode 1 and 2 so he definitely took down several Jedi and other threats.
Tumblr media
He moved swiftly into battle using his mastery of the force and excellent lightsaber skills to destroy his enemies like a ghost. In legends, there was a battle where the Trade Federation wiped out several an army of Wookiees that refused to pay taxes. Perhaps the Wookiee chieftain before Tarful engaged and was destroyed by Dooku.
Tumblr media
11. Dooku vs Other Darksiders
This is a bonus point. We know Dooku later fell out with a group of dark siders called the Nightsisters during the Clone Wars. SIdious definitely would want Dooku to destroy any potential rivals to his Empire. Because of this, it would be interesting to see Dooku take down a couple of dark side users who aren’t sith.
Maybe one has a dual yellow lightsabers and another has a brown lightsaber.
Tumblr media
12. Dooku and Jango Fett fighting together
Tumblr media
While we have seen Dooku and Jango individually it seemed like they were close during Attack of the Clones. While their relationship may have been strictly professional they clearly had respect for each other. Seeing a skilled Sith Lord and an elite bounty hunter take down multiple mercenaries or local police officers could be amazing.
13. Dooku and Ventress fighting together
Tumblr media
While Dooku often sent Ventress on missions during Star Wars the Clone Wars and trained her in the miniseries; we have never seen Dooku and Ventress actually fight alongside each other on screen. With Dooku’s sheer skills, composure, and force feats and Ventress’s balance between stealth, brutality, and the skill it would be amazing to see them take down several warriors as a duo.
I believe they would fight together in near perfect sync. It would look like art.

The Bad Batch Season 2: Can Crosshair Ever Find Redemption? Should He?
Tumblr media
Star Wars fans love a good redemption story. Hell, the original trilogy was all about the redemption of Darth Vader. And then we spent another trilogy going backward to find out just how good he initially was, thereby adding more weight to his sacrifice, leading to his eventual redemption. So with two seasons into The Bad Batch, I’m wondering if we’re headed down the same path with a former member of the Batch, Crosshair. With season 2 starting strong, creator Dave Filoni looks to be planting seeds that hint at that. But it’s still too early to tell where we are going with Crosshair’s storyline. With The Bad Batch’s Crosshair now officially the odd one out, will he ever find his way back to his brothers? I think so. Read on to find out how I think Crosshair could find redemption.  Spoiler Warning: The following will contain spoilers for The Bad Batch season 2 episode 3 titled ‘The Solitary Clone’. The Bad Batch’s Crosshair Has Done Horrible Things Before discussing if Crosshair’s redemption is forthcoming, we should probably look at what he’s done so far. In season 1 of The Bad Batch, Crosshair orders the execution of a camp full of innocent civilians while looking for Saw Gerrara. Throughout the rest of the season, he similarly kills, hurts and hunts others, including his own brothers, The Bad Batch themselves. Initially, we, as well as the Batch, think Crosshair’s actions are due to the inhibitor chip that caused all Clone Troopers to betray the Jedi in Order 66. However, we soon find out that Crosshair removed his chip early on. So his blind loyalty to the Empire isn’t a result of mindless programming through technology. But rather a choice Crosshair made. This is what made Crosshair such a good antagonist. The misdirection of the chip being thought of as the cause of his actions, only for the reveal to show that he is accountable for them, was heartbreaking. But The Bad Batch and Crosshair’s dynamic gets even worse with the revelation in the third episode of season two. The Solitary Clone Chooses His Own Actions Episode 3 of season 3 sees Crosshair team up with another popular Clone Trooper from The Clone Wars animated series, Commander Cody. Cody was another friendly clone who worked with all the Jedi for years before Order 66 made him turn against them. He returns in this episode, serving the new Empire, and carrying out missions for them. Just like Crosshair. However, when faced with a less-than-black-and-white decision, Cody takes pause. When the representative of a planet is refusing to join the Empire, because they want peace, Cody promises to hear her out, and even take her request to his superiors. However, before he can follow through, Crosshair shoots and kills her at the command of an Imperial Officer. Without hesitation, because, as Cody says earlier— ‘good soldiers follow orders’. What Bad Batch's Crosshair's Actions Mean For Clones Everywhere By the end of this episode, we see Cody struggle with Crosshair’s action, leaving him disillusioned with his service in the Empire. We then hear about how Cody is now AWOL, meaning he deserted his post, due to this questioning of the Empire’s motives and actions. What this shows us, is how the Clones aren’t evil, and that the chip didn’t make them evil, but that they know right from wrong. And when faced with the Empire’s evil ways, many Clones deserted their posts. But even more important, what this means for The Bad Batch’s Crosshair. Knowing now that despite the chip, Clone Troopers can think for themselves and choose to leave the Empire’s service, it shows Crosshair in a different light. It proves, one and for all, that everything Crosshair has done up until now, has been his choice. Not the chip. Not the brainwashing. But Crosshair alone. Which makes it much harder for any possible redemption arc. If Crosshair chose to do all the horrible things he did, despite having an alternative but quite literally choosing the Empire over his brothers, redemption’s going to be hard to come. And while the show definitely looks like they may be setting up for that. It’s going to be hard to cheer for that eventual redemption arc, knowing that Crosshair can’t justify his own actions besides a ‘following orders’ rationale. Episode 3 of The Bad Batch season 2 is now streaming on Disney+. What do you think about The Bad Batch’s Crosshair and his actions? Do you think he can ever return to his family? Or is he too far gone? Let me know in the comments below. Read the full article

Between Rex and Cody wearing phase 2 armor alongside Echo and Fives in phase 1.5 ARC armor in the photo from season 7 and now Obi-Wan in his seasons 1-3 outfit alongside Cody and the 212th in phase 2 armor on the new comic cover I am convinced that the people at Lucasfilm are fucking up the armor continuity on purpose specifically to annoy me

My analysis of rex on Umbara
Ya know, the Umbara arc really does highlight who Rex is as a person. In the first part of the Umbara arc Anakin points out how dogma reminded him of rex, but Rex kinda denies it saying that was past him and goes on to say that Dogmas uptight but loyal. But throughout the entire Umbara arc we see Rex simultaneously prove himself wrong and right on this. Through the first three episodes he followed krells orders because 1. He didn’t really have a choice that ended well at the time, and 2. It was the loyal thing to do. 3. The punishment was either jail or death. This really gets highlighted in the third episode where Rex and Fives argue about if it was a good idea to test out the fighter crafts and they divulge into what true loyalty to the Jedi, the republic and their brothers meant. Back in the second episode we see a lot of Rex trying to go on being loyal to krell while also trying to ensure their safety, but when he can’t do both he says that it’s just the price of war, and Fives calles him out on this saying is that really rex talking or were you just indoctrinated to think that. When we look from where Fives is coming from Fives in the past as a cadet has never been really rebellious, and he often went with Echo on things, and if he couldn’t do that he just went with the flow. When we see him now, he’s really grown in skill, personality and free spirit and is a very capable independent trooper. Now we didn’t get the chance to see Rex as a cadet but we see Echo who constantly followed orders grow out of that as well, we also get to see Dogma who was a consistent order follower kill krell, the very person their all supposed to technically be supporting, given enough pressure to do so. Rex did lead to arrest krell after the friendly fire, but in the end he still couldn’t pull the trigger. I think if given a few more seconds he would have but he hesitated long enough. And why would he be so loyal at all in the first place? I think a huge part of it is because Rex is a first generation clone and was trained for a couple more years than Fives or Dogma were, I think that training was much more intense and involved mentally. But we do see more loose behavior from Kix, Jesse and Hardcase and they’ve been around almost as long as Rex has so all of it can’t all be blamed on training. Perhaps Dogma, Echo and Rex all had some kind of past trauma that made them all have following orders in common. Or maybe not because in the bad batch we see half the clones choose to be disloyal and go with howzer while the other half stay loyal to the empire. We saw this also at Umbara in the second episode when they were all disagreeing on what to do, half the battalion want to follow orders and the other half do not. We see when Rex meets Cut in season one that he wants a life of his own but he goes back to his brothers to lead and protect them. And in the last episodes of the series we see him struggle once again with his loyalty to the Jedi and his brothers and in the end he had no choice to side with the Jedi when his brothers were turned on them both. When their was no republic left to be loyal to he rescued his brothers, and in the bad batch we can see he’s still in a state of inner turmoil and denial. In the end I think it all boiled down to each clone was different, and reacted differently to Kamino training and field trauma. You had many many clones that were afraid of rebelling and being terminated, being deemed deficient. There were also many clones that were completely disloyal and ran to make a life for themselves despite what the consequences might be. I think what I’m trying to say is the behavior rex displayed in the Umbara arc was a trauma response deeply engrained in him since he was born that was further driven by krells manipulative and narcissistic personality. And we see this in Dogma too, in the third episode of the arc Dogmas reasoning for wanting to tattle on Fives, hardcase and Jesse was because he was afraid they would also be held accountable.

Star Wars Watch Guide
I made this list for Star Wars fans and newcomers alike!
Also, to save some romantic partners (and patient friends) a lot of time and confusion with the never-ending task of watching “all” of star wars.
This list combines a couple of people’s posts and ideas, along with my own recommendations, these are their posts and names below!
Star Wars Machete Order – Rod Hilton
How to Bingewatch Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Sarah Long
Star Wars Rebels Viewing Guide – Dave Gladow
Star Wars Resistance Skippable Guide – fullyfancyfan (tumblr)
Star Wars timeline – Hugh Armitage & Ian Sandwell
If you finish this list, I highly recommend checking out the amazing novels, comics and games being made by Star Wars writers right now. Look for anything NOT titled “Legends” for the canon entries that fit into this timeline. They expand the universe even further. A lot of the them give backstory and endings to some of our favorite characters.
For the television series included, the first number shown is the season, and the second number is the episode. For example, 1.16 would be Season 1, Episode 16.
Note: If you’d prefer not to time jump, and want to watch in chronological order, move #1. A New Hope, and #2. Empire Strikes Back, to directly after #13. Rogue One. You may however, encounter spoilers for those two films this way.
