hi! :) could i request smth for draco x ravenclaw!reader? they are friends & maybe they bump into each other at honedukes while she's buying her favourite sweets, which are also his, & it's the last box. draco has a crush on her so he let's her take them but she notices & later gives him some when they meet (as always) at the astronomy tower to stargaze. they both confess their feelings when she tells him that draco is her fav constellation (& person lol). pleeease with a fluffy end. thank u!!!
-Stargazing- Draco Malfoy x Female Reader
Kody: Ohhhhh this is gonna be hella cute, prepare yourself guys. Let’s get writing.
Warning: To much fluff and nervous Draco
   House: Ravenclaw
   Summary: ^
      ♡~🐍~♡
Walking around Hogsmeade was always a great time. You never knew what you were gonna get when you came. Plus, it was nice to get some sweets once in awhile. “Hey Luna, want to go to Honeydukes with me?” you asked, turning your gaze to face the blond Ravenclaw. Luna lifts up her pink glasses and shakes her head.
“I have to go see if the shop back there has any charms books for Nagles” she explains in her soft voice. You smile, giving her a friendly nod. “Okay, i’ll meet up with you later.” She gives you a thumbs up and you both went your separate ways. You couldn’t wait to get some sweets.
   ♡~🐍~♡
As you pushed open the door to Honeydukes you heard Ron Weasley being lectured by Hermione Granger on how he shouldn’t eat to much sugar. It made you laugh quietly as you passed them and made your way to the shelves. Gazing at all the options you frowned “Where was the sugar quills?” you asked yourself out loud.
You look through another section for your sugar quills, but saw nothing. Guess they sold out today. “Well that blows” You sigh and began to walk to the door. No sugar quills for you today. But then, merlin bleed you himself and you saw the pack of holy sugar quills at the counter.
A smile came to your face as you walk over to the counter quickly and reach for the quills, but your surprised when a pale hand grabs it as well, landing on yours. You look up to see whos hand this belonged to and was met with grey eyes staring back at you. Your face flushes as you see his face “Draco” you spoke softly, unable to control the smile forming on your face.
Draco smiles back at you and lets go of the sugar quills, brushing his hand against yours, which makes both of your stomachs flip. “seems like both of us want sugar quills” he spoke, letting out a nervous laugh. You chuckle, nodding before holding them out for him “Here you can have them, i know you like the green apple one”
Draco shakes his head and pushes them back to you “No, it’s alright, you can have them. I was looking for something else anyway” He said, lying. He liked sugar quills as much as you did, but if letting you have them would bring that beautiful smile to your face. It was worth it.
“Are you sure?” You asked, still a bit unsure. Draco gives you a reassuring smile “Yeah i’m sure” You smile and take a couple galleons and place them on the counter for the cashier. You turn to see Luna in the window waving at you. You face Draco and smile “I have to go, thank you so much Draco”
Draco smiles and nods, before his mind clicked “Remember, astronomy tower tonight. Same time” he says and you nod quickly “I could never forget, bye Draco” you chuckle and ran out the door. He watched as you and Luna smiled making his heart race.
“You are so whipped” A voice said from behind the blond Slytherin. Draco’s head snapped to see his mate Blaise. Draco flushed red in embarrassment. “Shove off” he scoffs and leaves his friend “Your upset cause i’m right!”
   ♡~🐍~♡
Students were getting ready for bed, while you were putting on slippers so you could sneak out and meet Draco. While getting ready you saw the pack of sugar quills laying on your desk. You had only eaten the strawberry one and still had a lot left. Smiling, you pick them up so you could share with Draco.
You slip out your dorm and slowly make your way to the common room, peeking from the doorway to check if anyone was there. All clear. You walk across the common room rather quickly and out the door. Now to get past any Professor who might be patrolling.
Walking down the halls, you made sure to avoid each Professor with ease. You had practice after doing this a bunch of times already. Once you saw the entrance to the Astronomy tower you smiled brightly. You start to make your way up the long staircase.
   ♡~🐍~♡
Getting off the last step you smile as your greeted with the wonderful sight of Draco gazing at the stars while leaning on the railing. You walk towards him. Draco must of heard your footsteps because he turned around smiling at the sight of you. “Hey Malfoy” You tease, going over to lean on the railing as well.
Draco let a quiet chuckle slip “Why hello L/n” he teases back. You smile as you look up at the stars. Stargazing had become a hobby you both liked to do, so every couple nights you met up to look at them together.  Your mind clicked when you remembered the sugar quills and handed him the green apple one.
“Here” you say, the sweet makes him smile brightly as he took it from your hand “You know me so well” he chuckles and you smile, enjoying his smile. He rarely showed anyone any other emotion, but with you it was easy to let that all go and be himself.
These meetings were fun and you really enjoyed it. It made you a bit nervous now considering you developed feelings for the Slytherin boy a couple months ago. Now whenever he looked at you felt like you were going to explode and blurt out your feelings right then and there. You were pretty sure he liked you too, because he acted the same way you did when around each other.
Neither of you had the guts to say it though. So you were stuck in this friendship do to your fear of being rejected, but tonight was different. You were going to tell him, well kinda. Just wait and see. You look up and one constellation catches your eyes instantly. “Oh its my favorite constellation!” you say in a excited tone.
Draco raises a brow “You never told me you had a favorite constellation?” he asked, finding it weird she only pointed it out now. You nod “Yep! It’s also named after my favorite person” you say a bit nervously. Draco felt his chest tighten “Favorite person?” he questioned and you nod slowly.
“Whats it called?” he asked “I’m just curious” he adds after when really he meant was ‘Tell me who it is so i can find out who they are and scare them out of Hogwarts’ but he couldn’t say that clearly. You gulp and muster all the courage to say “Draco” you squint your eyes, waiting for laughter or him to call you weird.
Draco is stunned, his mind not processing the words that came out your mouth. When it did a very giddy smile formed on his face. He turned to face you and saw the embarrassed expression on your face. “Y/n” he started, but you turned away completely “I’m so sorry, i thought it was a cute way of confessing. but now i feel stupid”
He shakes his head and places his sugar quill on the ground before grabbing your shoulders “Y/n. Look at me okay?” he asked in a slightly pleading tone. You grumble in protest, but ended up doing it anyway. “That was very clever way of confessing to me, which makes sense. You’re a Ravenclaw after all so it makes sense” he starts and you laugh a little.
“Anyway, i like you too” Draco cracks a smile, making your heart flutter. “Oh” you simply say. Both of you look away from each other for a second before Draco places a hand on your cheek and one on your lower back. Your stomach does flips as he looks from your eyes to your lips. He takes a second to admire your face before leaning in.
What you were expecting was a kiss, but when your noses bumped into each others. You both pulled away laughing “That was not what i was trying to do” Draco chuckles and you laughed more “We are so bad at this” you say and he nods in agreement. Draco’s laughter died down “Try again?” he asks and you simply nod your head.
Draco leans in again and this time both of you share a sweet kiss. The hand on your lower back pushes you into him until your flush against his chest. You smile into the kiss and slither your arms around his neck. After a minute or two you both pull away. You see Draco’s smirk and raise a brow “So you ate the strawberry sugar quill?” he said licking his lips.
You flush red and push his chest “Draco! You ruined the moment”
   ♡~🐍~♡
Kody: This was adorable lmao. Also my requests are open. Anyway, peace.

Fic Review please! 📚 it’s called “Charlie’s Person Looking Friend” on AO3. It’s about Charlie Weasley going through his years of Hogwarts making friends and discovering he’s Ace/Aro and him having autism. It’s not long but it’s jam packed with heart!
https://archiveofourown.org/works/22061044/chapters/52649431
First off, such a good story!! I think the title is so clever! I was honestly so confused about it at first, but after reading it it makes a lot more sense and it so cool! Titles are one of those things where it needs to be good and clever, but still make sense to the story which yours does perfectly!
Into the review - I noticed there were two chapters of it and I wasn’t completely sure if you wanted me to read both, but I did anyways so this is kinda broken down into reviews on part 1 and part 2 of it if that’s alright? Whenever you see the “Keep reading/More” just click on it! This got really long 😅
Chapter 1
For all his trouble to get his hair down to chin-level, this is where it had landed him. He was now stuck in a cold boy’s bathroom, missing potions class, with a comb buried and broken in his hair.
poor baby. I understand the struggle all too well but the way you wrote everything was so good! I definitely could understand his frustration even if I haven’t experienced it myself. I also love the way you wrote him feeling out of place! I just felt like I could understand exactly how he was feeling.
“We will fix it, and you can be on your way in no time, okay? No worries.”
this interaction with Blue was so pure 💗 it made my little heart ache and I couldn’t help but smile. I love how gentle they are with Charlie.
Charlie was always taught not to trust Slytherins. He'd heard the horror stories from Bill and his parents. But he wasn’t going to get out of this by himself. There was no way he was going to try to find Bill with that thing hanging off his hair, scraping at his neck.
While it made me sad that Charlie felt he couldn’t go to his brother, I do completely understand it. I also love that Charlie, even though apprehensive, still decided to trust Blue. I think it really goes to show just how comfortable he is with them from the very beginning.
I also really love the entire interaction/scene between Charlie and blue as they introduce him to their hair care products/accessories. I thought it was just so easy-going and sweet and really captured what it’s like when you’re making a new friend, especially one that you already feel comfortable with.
Charlie blinked, wondering why he was telling Blue all of this and why it felt so easy. Surely he should be telling Bill all of this? Writing to his parents? It what they said to do if he had a problem. He had no idea why telling Blue felt more okay.
I loved this part! It made me so happy that Charlie was opening up to someone and feeling comfortable about it. I also really liked how you wrote the confusion it causes too. I’ve definitely experienced talking to someone new and just feeling like I could talk to them about anything and it would be fine but wondering why it was so easy. You would think it would be easier to tell people you know and trust, but that’s not always the case and you just got it down perfectly.
“You seem to not have enough hair for a proper braid right now, but I could try to get those bangs out of your face for a bit,” Blue said, holding up the other dragon clips.
“My family was never big on braids having only one girl.”
“Oh nonsense, as long as the hair is well, long, braids can be worn by anybody. Come on I will teach you!”
Ugh!! I loved this bit of interaction so much! I love that Blue gives Charlie the dragon hair clips, I love that blue teaches Charlie how to braid, and I love that Charlie is just so excited about it all! It just makes me so happy all around ☺️💗
“I was out makin' a friend” Charlie explained, “it’s a person-looking one this time Bill, I promise. Mum told me to make those while I was here.”
Charlie baby 💗 you’re too cute and pure! I love this statement so much, you have no idea! I really just don’t know how else to say it except that I love it! It’s just perfect for the story and said at just the right time. It’s just a really great line!
Charlie felt marginally worse after talking with Bill than after talking to Blue. He never liked being scolded, and it seemed to bother him more than it ever did Bill or Percy.
🥺 ; Charlie deserves to be happy and not feel so terrible for just doing what he pleases. He never purposefully does anything wrong, nor does he really do anything wrong, and yet he’s just constantly feeling like he’s done something wrong and it’s so unfair to him.
One of his roommates Ben Copper...
is this inspired by hogwarts mystery by any chance? That’s the only place I’ve ever seen the name Ben copper and ngl it made me excited when I read that!! Even though he’s scared of a lot I feel like he’s such an amazing character!! If it’s not just ignore this bit!
“You’re right, I’m sorry. That would be awful. Your boots are really cool.” He said smiling down at her black leather boots, little bracelet charms attached to the laces which Charlie sat down to touch.
“Thanks, I like your clips, very punk rock.”
“Really? Cool! I liked them for the dragons, but my brother said they were kinda girly.”
“Punk rock can be girly too, but I think they suit you just fine.” She said, grinning at him. Charlie grinned back, sitting on the floor next to the pink-haired Hufflepuff.
lil excited Charlie is back and I am in love! Something about him getting excited and intrigued over the littlest things just makes me so happy! Not to mention how awesome Tonks is and how easily Charlie decides he wants to be friends with her as well! I’m very happy for Charlie that he’s making friends!!
But if Charlie's new friend was Ted and Andromeda Tonks' daughter, Bill guessed he had nothing to worry about.
===
Bill had something to worry about.
This made me chuckle. I love when people always think everything is fine and then it’s not fine. I also just thought it was written really cute 💗
...but he just couldn’t bring himself to do it. Charlie looked so happy. Bill never realized how unhappy he was before this friendship started. So Bill stopped trying to scold him, stopped trying to take care of Charlie how he thought he should.
love that bill is realizing he doesn’t have to be a full-in parent for Charlie anymore!! I know that’s the default setting when you’re the oldest child, but it comes to a point where you just need to be an older sibling instead of a parent and I’m glad Bill is finally doing that!!
Charlie also talked to Bill more, telling him in a big, happy rant what Tonks and he did that day.
Yay!! Sibling relationship healing a little! 💗
He didn’t talk about how his little makeovers happened, but those days Charlie was happiest.
awee Bill is noticing (sort of) what makes his brother happy and is accepting of it ☺️💗 I love that so much!! I love that Charlie is happier and finding himself and I love that Bill is just letting him figure it out for himself!
Bill was usually anything but unobservant so it surprised him he had taken so long to realize any of this. After that small revelation Bill started to pay attention to anything and everything about Charlie. Bill worried if he missed what made Charlie so happy aside from the obvious—dragons— what else could he have missed over the years of trying to wrangle all of his other siblings?
again, I completely understand what it’s like being an older sibling but Bill is doing such a good job at the moment!! Charlie definitely just needs someone to be there and give him attention and not only does he have Blue, but now he’s got his brother doing it too and I think that’s amazing!!
Charlie’s fear wasn’t for nothing. Going home for Christmas break only solidified his need for Blue and their space together. He was glad to be home, but the way he felt with Blue, and even Tonks and now Bill, was a stark difference from how he felt at the Burrow. He didn’t want to feel this way.
It makes me sad that Charlie doesn’t feel his best at home, but I know not everyone does. I just love how you’ve written it to make it so well known. I also love the fact that Charlie at least had one place he’s comfortable, even though it’s the people he keeps company with that make it comfortable.
“Mum” Charlie whined “it’s not like that. Her name is Tonks, and she’s my friend.”
“I’m sure she’s just a friend now, but we’ll see how you feel when you get older, huh?”
“There’s nothin' ‘just’ about it!” Charlie was raising his voice now, clearly angry. “She’s my friend. She’s important to me. Why do you act like friends don’t matter as much?”
such a well written section!! I love the writing and I love the conversation. It’s relatable yet powerful all at the same time. My family used to tease me all the time (still do a bit) whenever I made friends with a guy and we were close. It’s beyond frustrating and it just embarrassed me when there’s no need for it. So I love how you managed to get that across in the story so well!!
“Oh, Charlie” Bill sighed, closing the door slowly so it didn’t squeak too much.
“It’s not fair!” The little blanket lump said, the sound of little feet and fists repeatedly banging harshly against the wood floor. “It’s MY hair! What’s so bad about it?!”
“There’s nothin' bad about it,” Bill said, crouching next to Charlie and snuggling him so he didn't hurt his hands. “Mum just thinks certain ways about what boy’s hair should look like is all.”
whether Bill came looking for Charlie because he was actually worried and wanted to see how he was or if he just did so because he felt he had to being the older brother doesn’t really matter. I love that Bill was so caring of Charlie either way. I love that he’s so physically affectionate with him to comfort him. I also like how he tries to explain their mother’s side (not saying it’s right) but I just like that he’s not taking sides per se, just explaining to Charlie that it isn’t him that’s the problem. It’s just their mother’s mindset.
“You know what? We can pack that hair growth potion dad has. The one he used when Fred blew his eyebrows off.”
“Really?” Charlie gasped, looking up at Bill. He could see little hair locks of what was left of Charlie’s bangs popping out of his bundle. Bill held out his hands and Charlie crawled in his lap, blankets coming with.
“Yes, really,” Bill said rubbing his back. Charlie's little arms holding onto Bill for dear life.
ugh brotherly love 💗 this makes me so happy. I think it’s so well written and the imagery is just perfection!!
“And you know what? I’ll grow my hair out too. She’ll have to reckon with the both of us.”
yay Bill!! Such a good brother standing up beside your younger brother for something that makes him happy. Empower him and make him feel confident in who he is and what he likes! 💗💗
He didn’t fully understand Charlie, but Bill was starting to realize he didn’t have to. All he had to do was be there and let Charlie be Charlie.
Ugh!! This was so lovely! I just love how you wrote it. How even though he doesn’t fully understand he doesn’t have to. That’s not the point in any of it. Just being accepting and supportive is all that is needed. I feel like more people need to realize that. It doesn’t matter what you think about someone else or if you understand them. You aren’t them, are you? Just be respectful and try to be accepting please.
Chapter 2
Bill also started to get Charlie beauty related things for Christmas and his birthday.
awee yay!! ☺️💗💗
Charlie’s face when he opened Bill’s present, opened last at Bill`s request, made the tedious muggle money exchange and trip all the more worth it.
I love gift-giving! This completely described why too! Seeing the other person smile is just so worth it!!
Bill let out an ‘ouff’ as Charlie hugged him, snuggling into his chest.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you!” Charlie squealed, “Bill! You’re the best!”
Bill chuckled, surprised at the hug as Charlie didn’t like contact often.
Bill is getting so much better with Charlie and it makes me so happy!! He’s standing up for him, giving him his attention, and he’s actually putting forth effort into their relationship!! All of it just makes my heart so happy! I honestly smiled so much as I read this bit!
Tonks and Blue also gave Charlie Christmas presents that year.
I don’t want to keep quoting so much of your story so the description will just be really long on this one; 1st - it makes me soooo happy that Charlie has two good friends now!! He’s happy and can share himself with people and it’s just absolutely amazing!! 2nd - both of them had such thoughtful gifts!!! I thought it was amazing and each was so them! Like it relates to their friendship with Charlie instead of being just some standard, “we’re friends and I love you” gift.
He watched carefully as Blue opened his gift to them. They pulled out the necklace Charlie had made, the matching earrings sitting next to it.
“The stones are from the stream near my house,” Charlie said.
“You made these?” Blue gasped and looked at the jewelry with a new reverence.
Charlie you sweet boy 💗 I think you just made Blue’s day with your gift and I couldn’t be happier. I love that he handmade the jewelry for them and put so much thought into it. It really shows how good of friends they are and it’s just so so so good!! Along with that, I LOVE blue’s rant after Charlie is dissing his gift to them because it’s “not nearly as expensive”  like I’m so glad they told Charlie how it is and how the price doesn’t matter but the thought of it does!! Just so well-written! 💗💗💗
“You’re my best friend Charlie.” They felt Charlie relax and chuckled, tilting his chin up. “No romance here. I am still aromantic asexual after all.”
I LOVE that you went into detail about what aromatic and asexual mean!! I feel like the way you did so was easy to understand and how it was just so casual. I hate to say that I’m not fully clear on everything regarding LGTBQ+ but reading the way you wrote this explanation helped A LOT and I didn’t feel dumb or embarrassed for not completely knowing it. So thank you for doing that!! I appreciate it so much and again it is just really well written!!
“They worked at themselves a lot. They were not always the best listeners, but they had kids and they forced themselves to learn to listen, be patient, and just be there. But I had to do work on my part too. If something was bothering me I told them. I had to realize they were humans too, and humans can be wrong. That was my part: telling them when I had an issue. It was their part to listen, and then try to do something about it together.
& this part!! Thank you for this! I love that you included it’s a two way street to understanding and acceptance. You can’t just expect people to know everything right away regardless of the topic and I like how you put it; My part is to say when I had an issue(but still realizing that they’re humans too), their part is to listen and then try to do something. I just really love how you put all of this in there. That it is an effort on both parties.
“I said my mum’s and I did research together when I came out right? Well, they do not bug around when researching something to do with their kids. I have whole books on this kind of stuff. I am a walking encyclopedia at this point.”
“Books sound nice. Do you think I could borrow them?”
I love this. I love it so much. I love the dynamic between Charlie and blue, I love how you’ve written everything, I love all the explaining you do. I just love this.
Overall, I am in love with this story. Thank you so much for requesting it to me. I’m not normally on ao3 (because I’m just very confused by it’s set up) but I’m very glad I got to read this!!
Like I said, I love how you explain everything. It’s clear enough to understand but it’s also not forced like what I usually see or hear. I like that you just state it as it is. I also love that the tone you seem to carry is that all you can do is educate others and hope they learn. I’m really not trying to be rude, but it seems like any time I’ve talked to anyone LGTBQ+ they expect me to know everything about them right off which is really annoying because I don’t even know everything about myself yet. So I really really like that you don’t seem angry or upset that people don’t necessarily know everything. It just really nice to have it explained calmly and not in a tone of judgement.
While there are times when the way you’ve written things (more like the descriptions/imagery/background info) is a little confusing, it’s not to the point where I can’t figure out what you’re saying. I feel like every writer has times where we know what we’re saying but we just can’t get it across clearly. I’m also just a bit tired while reading this so it could just very well be my own head not comprehending.
Either way, this was an amazing story!! Thank you again for requesting it to me ☺️ I love the way you’ve written everything and how you explain things well. I also like that it focuses on Charlie and has Bill as the main sibling in it because I don’t think I’ve ever really seen anything with Charlie besides being a very small part of it. It’s upsetting because he is one of their siblings. even though he’s in Romania, you can still write about him.
Anyways, I’ll stop rambling now. I really like this fic and I’m really glad you sent it to me! Thank you again ☺️💗

i’ve been enabled
here’s the sitch on the goddamn harry potter hogwarts mystery app game
it fucking sucks
here’s my main issues in a handy list i’ll go down later:
the gameplay
energy
art / visuals
the story
the writing
the choose your own adventure like elements (technically gameplay since there isn’t much else l m a o)
and i have receipts for most of this stuff. fun fact, i’ve been taking videos of all plot relevant events since year 1.
some context:
i’ve played up to year 3 myself. i have watched up until the very beginning of year 5 in someone’s youtube series (will bits? that was his main character [henceforth referred to as MC]’s name, however that was a year ago and it was in the background like a podcast so the details are sort of fuzzy. i have not played the game since march (it’s september, ish), but i’m loading it up as i type this just to get a feel for it
idk whether to assume my audience has or hasn’t played the game. i’ll keep my complaints as clear as possible.
i’m mainly an author so the storytelling sections are where i’m really going to pop off, since that’s something i have the most experience with and passion in, but i’ll be touching on everything else because compounded it’s all pissing me off lmao
[a couple hints at spoilers for maybe an event in year 1, and year 3, but nothing major]
let’s start with: THE GAMEPLAY
there isn’t any
literally. there’s like. zero gameplay.
you tap some highlighted figures, and then sometimes you get to trace a little shape, and sometimes you get to play rock paper scissors to fight somebody (they did manage to make duelling slightly better but it’s still not good by any standard)
sometimes you get to choose between three dialogue options, but those have barely any impact on the story or on your character. any impact they have is limited to a couple stat points, or maybe some house points, or like. some event at the end of the year. but like barely any make any real serious difference (but i’ll touch on that more later)
and then there’s the factor of stat points (and this gets kind of mathy, so feel free to skip to the bolded sentence)
for those who haven’t played the game, you have three stats (empathy, courage, and knowledge) that you can level up by taking classes, 1, 3, or 8 hours, for various rewards
back when i stopped playing, i had gained 8914 points in courage. if i recall correctly i was only about halfway to leveling up that stat. if you take an 8 hour class, you receive consistently 200 stat points, with a possibility of extra rewards that i can’t count for since those are randomly generated.
to get those 8914 points, i would have had to take 44.57 8 hour classes (while 8 hour they only take about 7, counting for the 2 hours it takes my energy to recharge to full). with 44.57 classes taking 7 hours each, to get halfway to level 24, i would have had to have done:
THIRTEEN STRAIGHT DAYS OF GRINDING, ASSUMING THAT ALL I HAD BEEN DOING WAS CHECKING ON THE HARRY POTTER HOGWARTS MYSTERY APP
and again, I WAS ONLY LIKE HALFWAY TO LEVELLING UP
I AM BARELY BEGINNING FOURTH YEAR. I AM NOT EVEN HALFWAY THROUGH THIS GAME.
i think they’ve fixed this now; it said i had 8914/1550 courage and when i got stat points it fixed itself and jumped me from level 23 to 28, so thanks for that jam city.
but it doesn’t change the fact that the grinding is fucking horrible and i’ve done my fair share of hours, and who knows what it’s going to look like when i get to a higher level again
the energy
yes, i know it’s an app game. i know they want my money. but holy FUCK the energy recharges disgustingly slowly, and every bit they expand my energy bar is an insult
“here, have another energy capacity!” they say, and then add to the amount of energy it takes to complete a task at the same time, so now shit just takes me even damn longer
it’s an insult. don’t think i didn’t fuckin notice jam city.
since it’s an app game, naturally, energy requires paying real world money or the (semi) rare in-game currency to get more if you blow through your bar. they want your money. i know they want my money, but it doesn’t make me any less disappointed by how damn blatant they’re being. app games like bakery story probably also want my money, but at least those are still fun to play.
the art / visuals
now i’m not an artist. nor am i a 3-d modeller. but if solo indie devs and 10 men teams can make video games that have to have models with a much fuller range of motion (since there’s ACTUAL GAMEPLAY and not just little cutscenes of characters moving around) and that don’t make me sick to watch, then jam city working on a HARRY POTTER GAME should be able to (jk rowling fucking sucks but her books have brought in so much goddamn money that they can afford to pay their devs enough to make the game look good; in this case i’m not entirely sure where the blame lies)
there’s like. 10 motions characters can use while in the cutscenes and talking. like 10. and i can recognize every one of them, and there is not a single motion unique to a character. the characters are something i’ll touch on later in the storytelling sections, though. just, please god give them SOMETHING even SLIGHTLY different. like make two versions of a couple of the crowd animations at LEAST, so that when people celebrate at the end of the year there’s not twenty people in the shot doing the same “pump my fists in the air in celebration” motion at the exact same time. PLEASE.
sometimes animations in story events and classes sync up too, which is. beyond distracting. like it’s completely immersion breaking and i mean please, please jam city, if you haven’t fixed that please fix it. please.
the animations that roll in flying class are fun, ONCE. when you’ve seen them eight hundred thousand times because you’re grinding up your courage stat, they get hella boring. all of the classes are like this to some extent but flying is the biggest offender since those were the longest animations. if they haven’t implemented a skip button since i last played it, they should. they fuckin should.
also the fertilizer animation in the greenhouse scenes is gross. you pick up a deformed cone of dirt with your shovel like a slice of cake and then shove it clipping through the edges of a pot, where it disappears without a trace. i hate it. jam city please make the game look good.
if you still play the game please tell me it looks better; i’ll be playing through a couple things after i post this but it’s hphm. it’s gonna take me a goddamn long time to hit all the points and confirm whether what i complained about has been fixed or not
also also, wearing dresses is so distracting, especially while dueling. the way the dress flexes around your legs is like you’re wearing clothing made from jello and when my character does the idle animation her hands clip through her skirt, and there’s all kids of glitches with hair where it clips through outfits (and why in the fuck do the necklaces float a full foot from the character’s body)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the storytelling
alright there’s a lot to cover so strap in
i’m not mad about the story having some of the same beats as harry potter. whatever, right? if it worked, it worked. having a big climax at the end of the year just works well for storytelling. having a school bully antagonist also works well for easy storytelling (it’s kinda cheap, but whatever works, right?) it’s what you DO with the archetypes you use that makes or breaks your story
jam city broke it
i don’t know how to organize my thoughts so here’s a bulleted list
it is very clearly obvious they wrote this as they went along (ex. a previously unseen character pops up in year 3 and was supposedly the best friend of your greatest enemy in previous years) and didn’t think to fix the plot holes
there’s too many goddamn characters (i love them, but with a big cast comes a whole host of problems [I WRITE FOR A KPOP GROUP WITH 13 MEMBERS, I HAVE A LOT OF EXPERIENCE WITH THAT], and we’ll get there)
there’s too much goddamn filler for the sake of forcing us to spend time and in-game energy (yes i KNOW it’s an app game and they want our money but THEY COULD BE A LITTLE MORE SUBTLE ABOUT IT)
what honestly pisses me off the most about it is that IT COULD BE GOOD
IF THE STORY WERE GOOD, I WOULD FUCKIN IGNORE ALL OF THAT OTHER SHIT
but it’s not, and here’s the biggest gripe i have:
none of the choices you make matter. none of them. to the point where it’s immersion breaking at BEST
for example, while my MC is a hufflepuff, i know a lot of people play in slytherin. scenes where snape gets upset with your character and takes away house points no longer make sense for a slytherin MC, because snape would be infinitely more likely to give you three years of nightly detentions, or pitch you off the astronomy tower, than he would be to take house points from slytherin
honestly, they should have waited. if they wanted to put choose your own adventure elements into the game, they should have planned out every single one of those story arcs in detail, and THEN released the game. they could leave some of the more basic choices in and those choices only mattering for short term effects wouldn’t irk me as much as it does right now because THERE WOULD BE CHOICES THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE.
your very first choice over how you felt about your brother’s disappearance only matters for what wand you get (which i immediately forgot which really says something about the impact of that choice :)))) ). no matter what you pick, you still end up chasing after him for the rest of the game, so who cares?
story beats don’t land different based on your house. you could absolutely play it that merula hates you regardless of your house, that’s fine. just remember that if your MC is slytherin and lives in the female dorms, she probably shares a room with merula. which makes things fucky for all kinds of reasons, none of which jam city addresses in the current game, as far as i’m aware
also, there’s the deal with rowan
rowan is a character that goes into your mc’s chosen house no matter what (and as rowan changes pronouns with your player, i’ll be using “they” [or “she” as my player is a she and that’s what i’m used to; i’ll try to refrain but i might slip up occasionally] ). as far as i can tell, rowan’s personality remains the same no matter what house you’re in. they don’t try to play up the traits that match the house, rowan is just usually a sweet bookworm. why would the hat have put them in gryffindor? rowan khanna for me has never seemed to display any gryffindorish traits; or at the very least, no traits that should be prioritized over, say, the ravenclaw traits they have VERY STRONGLY (since rowan fills a sort of hermione role; rowan knows things about things and is your go to for research)
can we just put rowan in ravenclaw? sure, it would make it hard for fans in different houses to communicate between each other about the story for a time since certain sequences of events would play out differently, but here’s the thing:
if events play out differently based on your choices, people will want to play your game multiple times to get every ending
that’s the fun of a choose your own adventure game. if events play out distinctly differently if you’re a hufflepuff or a ravenclaw or a slytherin or a gryffindor, then people will want to play through the game four times at LEAST, once for each house, to get all the fun pieces of story (WHICH MEANS, they’ll be spending more and more time and using more and more energy, so you can make the same amount of money off people buying energy and watching the ads and maybe MORE while being able to cut out some of the more shitty pieces of filler)
in the current version, your house is just, what color are your robes and who is your prefect. i haven’t watched anyone who wasn’t a hufflepuff, but i’m sure that certain scenes and conflicts play out the exact same no matter what house you’re in
as an example, your house should affect how the duelling confrontation in year one should have gone. snape and flitwick should have different dialogue based on whether you’re a slytherin, or a ravenclaw, or a gryffindor, or a hufflepuff. snape fucking hates gryffindors, so he should be far less lenient against gryffindors, and on the flip side he should be battling between himself with how strict to be if you’re a slytherin; maybe he hates your guts because of a grudge against your brother, but you’re still in his house and we all know snape plays favorites. flitwick should be more disappointed if you’re a ravenclaw, because that’s his house and he had higher expectations for you. neither of them have many ties to hufflepuff that would skew the confrontation in a drastic direction, but had this been the first version of the game, then the confrontation that plays out in the current version we have would work fine for hufflepuff; you’re one of flitwick’s favorite charms students and he taught you this skill, and he’s disappointed to see you use it in this way, but not nearly as much as if you were one of his own
AND NOW PEOPLE WANT TO PLAY THE GAME MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET ALL THE DIALOGUE, WHICH MEANS MORE TIME, MORE ENERGY, AND MORE MONEY, JAM CITY, ARE YOU HEARING THIS??? MORE MONEY!!!!! IT’S A WIN WIN FOR EVERYONE
while we’re at it, change jacob to match his house. if you’re still gonna make him have the same house as the MC, make him match it. from how all the characters describe him that bitch is as slytherin as they come, if you’re gonna make him a hufflepuff with me then give him a clear, hufflepuff motive god damnit
finally,
the characters
there’s too many.
the problem with a big cast is no one gets enough screen time and some characters end up getting shunted to the side. that’s just what happens. you HAVE to zero in on four or five side friends and let the rest of them slip to the side. looking at my friends menu there are 17 characters you can befriend, not including hagrid, the quidditch crew, dobby, talbott, and chiara (since those are, as far as i know, unlocked via side quests, which are... fine. i don’t have any particular gripes about the side quests except for the thing with lupin being twice the size of tonks which, if you’ve read the seventh book i don’t need to explain how weird that is to you)
and BECAUSE there are so many, a lot of them have to be defined by one trait. ben is a coward, rowan’s clever and booksmart, penny has her hand on the school’s pulse and makes potions, liz likes creatures, charlie fuckin loves dragons, tonks likes pranks (seriously that’s her whole personality), andre likes clothes, barnaby is a dumb jock that likes creatures
like, traits are fun. but if that’s ALL THEY HAVE, that’s when things get a little fucky
how many of these characters have dimensions? i’m in year 4 chapter 4. the first screen recording of the game i took was on december 5 of 2019, and assuming i played about a minimum of 8 hours a day (”““played”““) until the final screen recording [may 20, 2020] before i dropped the game for about six months (i know for certain it was more than that, since i had some kind of activity going on at just about all times for at least a month of that, but i’ll take the generous estimate), at bare minimum that makes 1344 hours i spent playing this game, or about 56 days (keep in mind, this is a LOW estimate)
in those 56 days of gameplay, i don’t know ANYTHING about the characters other than their utility in my quest. i don’t know penny’s favorite color or even her favorite potion to brew, or how and why she started and when [there’s a reveal in third year that i watched someone play through, but i don’t know if i ever played through it myself; i don’t have any screen recordings of the event]. i don’t know anything about ben or his family aside from the fact that he’s muggleborn. i know some basic facts about barnaby’s family, and that he’s tough and likes creatures. rowan grew up on a tree farm and i have a vague recollection of her mentioning siblings. do we know anything about them?? do i know anything about how the characters interact with each other?? are barnaby and liz friends? they both like creatures. do they talk to charlie?? do ben and penny hang out while we’re not there? are ben and jae friends?? are jae and charlie??? DO THESE CHARACTERS EXIST WHEN THEY AREN’T NEEDED FOR THE CURSED VAULTS???
why in the fuck don’t i know these characters?? why don’t we know anything about tonks other than her affinity for pranking?? there’s a sharp bias in who the writer’s favorites are (they like the characters with angsty pasts they can twist around; what do we know about ben aside from his blood status? and he’s been around since first year; he’s the second friend you unlock. i know more about barnaby and i’ve known him for a much shorter time)
if you separate the routes, you get a chance to zero in on certain characters and actually develop them. if you’re a gryffindor, you befriend ben, charlie, and jae much more quickly and they make up the closest of your friends, along with rowan, if jam city is determined to keep their tutorial character constant across all plotlines (i still think rowan should be solely a ravenclaw, but i’ll allow rowan’s house to change so long as their personality shifts to emphasize certain qualities in order to match the change in house; your house should not just determine the color your robes are)
if you’re in slytherin, maybe you befriend barnaby in place of ben in the original game, or maybe there’s an arc where you clash heads with merula (who can still be an enemy even if you’re both in slytherin; merula doesn’t like competition and the MC is exactly that) and the rest of the slytherins in your year find themselves caught in the middle; maybe there’s an arc where your MC finds themself totally alone without allies due to the conflict between them and merula (might i suggest year two, while coming up on the climax of the year?)
hufflepuffs get to focus on tonks and penny much closer. ben can also be in this plotline, but he shouldn’t take center stage (characters should cross over plotlines, but only take center stage in one, aside from perhaps rowan if rowan remains constant). maybe chiara can get implemented into the main plotline to fill out the roster, and if not, diego caplan can get implemented earlier (i haven’t met him yet and know nothing about his character)
and ravenclaws get the ravenclaw characters BUT YOU GET THE POINT, i don’t want to bore anyone by repeating myself; this is long enough as is
what i’m saying is, these characters all have a different enough base that each route will be different just by focusing on different characters; ben and jae will respond to a situation much differently than penny and tonks might, which would ALREADY shake up the storyline of each house based on which house you choose in the beginning, and then characters overlap plotlines so you could leave hints in each route to the other characters’ unique backstories and motivations that leaves the player wanting to get to know the rest of your WELL DEVELOPED CAST (((MAKE SURE THEY’RE WELL DEVELOPED OR THIS WILL NOT WORK)))
WHAT I’M SAYING IS, THIS GAME COULD HAVE BEEN SO GOOD
if they put more effort into the story then maybe i would have gunned through the hufflepuff route so quickly and then restarted to go through all the rest of them. if you want people playing your game for longer then THAT is the way to go
yes, it will take time. yes, it will take effort. but you know what?
IT’LL ALSO MAKE YOU A FUCKTON OF MONEY FROM PLAYERS PLAYING EACH ROUTE IN FULL AND THEN PLAYING THEIR FAVORITE ROUTES AGAIN SO WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WAITING FOR
anyway, what i’m saying is, i hate this game so much because of the potential it had to succeed, and the potential it had to be a really good game. even if they didn’t change the gameplay much, even if they didn’t change the models, i could get past ALL OF THAT if the story was interesting
so uh. jam city, if you’re reading this, please. i will let you take away all of my days of playing this. i will let you render all of my progress obsolete and send me plummeting back into my first year at hogwarts to go through the game again, if you JUST, MAKE, MULTIPLE, ROUTES!!! MAKE MY CHOICES MATTER DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!
i’m also willing to let you use the ideas i posited here without credit or payment. because that sounds like a legal hassle and i am far too lazy to deal with that sort of thing, i just want to play a good game. please. please give me a good game to play.
also, make energy take 3 minutes to recharge. please.
so uh
TL;DR : i hate this game. and i wish i didn’t hate this game.

masterlist
Since his arrival at the age of 11 to the illustrious Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Jungkook’s made quite the name for himself.
At the tender (and awkward) age of fifteen, he became the captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. He’s excelling in nearly of all of his classes except Potions – in his defense, Slughorn really has it out for him. With bright doe eyes and a cute bunny smile, Jungkook could get out of anything faster than you can say “Dumbledore!”. Thanks to his tightknit group of friends, Hogwarts has really become his second home.
But there are two things that Jungkook could never get right, no matter how hard he tries – passing Potions class and talking to you.
He despises Potions with his entire being. His strengths lie on the more physical classes like Defense Against the Dark Arts or Quidditch. Hell, he even prefers learning about tea leaves in Divination than brewing random concoctions with the one man that can’t stand his presence. His philosophy is that he could always purchase some readymade potions during his visits to Diagon Alley – no need to complicate his life further by forcing his mediocre hand at a skill he’s severely lacking in. Slughorn even said so himself – he and Jungkook, like water and oil, will never mix.
You, on the other hand, are a different story.
Unlike Jungkook, you aren’t known to be in the spotlight. While you have a nice cluster of friends who you could count on for moral support during OWLs and cheap firewhiskey at end-of-the-year parties, you’re usually always alone with your nose in a book and your head in the clouds. Even your parents have had to remind you to get out of bed and be productive instead of staying in bed with a new novel nestled between the pillows. Unlike Jungkook who lives and breathes Quidditch, you prefer activities that require both feet on the ground. While most of it has to do with the fact that you had a near-death experience at a Quidditch match when you were 7 years old, it also stems from your ordinary distaste for physical activity. Why risk your life hundreds of feet up in the air on a flimsy broomstick when you can have just as much as fun at ground level?
Almost all of your friends disagree with you.
You’re also Professor Slughorn’s unofficial protege, his very own teacher’s pet. You suspect that it’s mainly because he found your endless lineage of wealthy and famous pureblooded Slytherins a rather attractive feat, but he also sheds credit on your seemingly effortless potion making. The skill was passed down to you from your mother and her mother before her, and it just made sense that you would be the one to carry the metaphorical torch.
To him and many other admirers (Jungkook’s definitely not jealous about that), you’re the pride and joy of Slytherin House, and rightfully so. You have the attitude, the drive, and the intelligence, checking all the boxes of not only a model Slytherin but a respectable Hogwarts student. Jungkook should have disliked you – after all, you’re a Slytherin, the infamous rival of Gryffindor House. While the stereotypes and mutual hatred has drastically declined over the years, there’s still residual competitiveness between the two houses.
If only it wasn’t for his massive, not-so subtle crush on you since first year.
Tumblr media
“I still don’t understand how she hasn’t noticed your obnoxious staring yet.” Taehyung snorts as he practically inhales the plate of rice and meat. “You’ve got to learn to be subtle. I can only take so much secondhand embarrassment from you before it just turns into pity.”
“What are you talking about?” Jungkook frowns, his lips drooping into a pitiful pout. “I’m just blanking out about something, that’s all.”
“Dude, you’ve been staring at her at the Slytherin table for the past twenty minutes, and I’m 99.9% sure you haven’t even blinked.”
At this, Jungkook forces his eyes to close, not even noticing how dry and sore they feel. Was he really looking at you for that long?
“Whatever.” Jungkook mutters as he turns to his own meal, pushing his vegetables around with his fork. “She probably doesn’t even notice me anyway...”
“It’s not really a question of her noticing you, but more a question of her even liking you.” Jimin laughs, rolling up the sleeves of his emerald green robes as he reaches across the table for two more bread rolls and a hefty serving of mashed potatoes.
Taehyung shoots the blonde Slytherin a sharp glare, but the latter’s too preoccupied with shoveling potatoes into his cheeks that he fails to notice the looming darkness over Jungkook’s face. With a sigh, Taehyung attempts at an encouraging smile.
“Don’t worry kiddo, she’s probably just shy herself.” Taehyung shrugs. “Once you go up and talk to her, I’m sure that—”
“H-Hyung, I can’t just do that!” Jungkook blanches white.
“Why not?” Jimin raises an eyebrow, cheeks still puffy with food. “It’s easy. All you got to do is t—”
“Hyung…” Jungkook whines in a borderline childish tone.
How pathetic would he sound if he explains to his two best friends, who are both equally outgoing and unafraid to go out of their way to get what they want, that he feels as though his whole world would collapse into a giant abyss at the thought of sharing a conversation with you? That the only words you’ve ever exchanged with him were “Hey, can you pass me that?” and “Y-Yeah, sure”? That since then, he’s been afraid to utter another word to you in fear of looking like a complete fool?
“Kook, you good?” Jimin asks, mild concern in his voice. “You don’t have, I was just s—”
“Nothing!” Jungkook squeaks in panic. “Nothing! I’m fine, I’ll…find a way, I guess.”
Fortunately for Jungkook, Jimin got the hint, and the conversation about you becomes a thing of the past as they all fall into a deep debate about who is going to beat who in the upcoming Quidditch World Cup. Jungkook forces himself to stop glancing at your table, but he still can’t help but catch a glimpse every so often when Jimin and Taehyung weren’t looking. His blood rushes a little faster in his ears when he catches sight of you, face shoved close towards the pages of your textbook and your hand scribbling across a blank piece of parchment. He smiles to himself, you must have been cramming for one of your classes and couldn’t find time outside of lunch to do it.
Around you, your friends are engaged in an intense gossip and laughing at the top of their lungs, but you barely pay them any attention. You’re completely ignorant to your surroundings as you delve deeper in the chapters and the practically incomprehensive material. There’s a tingle at the back of your neck, as if someone’s watching you closely, but you ignore it.
It’s probably nothing, like always.
Tumblr media
“You know, it’s getting kinda sad seeing you mope over a girl like this, especially a Slytherin. What’s holding you back?”
Jungkook ignores the frustrated tone of his older friend Namjoon as he shuffles around the bedroom in search of his Quidditch padding. Namjoon lives in another section of the dormitory where the upperclassmen stay in since he’s a year away from graduating while Jungkook rooms with other underclassmen who still have a couple more years left in their Hogwarts education. He’s laid on his side on top of Jungkook’s bed, smushing his side of his face against the horde of pillows the younger boy keeps stacked against the headboard.
“Time’s ticking, Kookie…” Namjoon says mockingly. “Tick tock, tick tock, tick—”
“Are you done?” Jungkook grumbles in annoyance. He finally finds the missing padding and shoves it deep inside his training bag. “The opportunity just hasn’t…arisen yet. That’s all, no big deal.”
“Oh no, I can keep going with this.” Namjoon smirks, pulling a pillow against his chest. “I’ll keep asking for as long as I’m here if it’ll get you to untangle your asshairs and talk to her, for crying out loud. I can’t keep being seen with you if you keep disappointing me like this.”
Jungkook grimaces at the mental image flashing across his vision. “You and Seokjin hyung are literally one and the same. Also, how is it any of your business who I talk to?”
“First of all, hyung and I practically raised you. Second of all, I have every right to know who you’re potentially going to spend the rest of your life with.” Namjoon pauses to beam up at Jungkook in equal parts sarcasm and genuineness. “If I don’t make it my business, who will?”
“Literally everyone else. You all share one brain cell, remember?” Jungkook sighs exasperatedly. “I’ve finally got Jimin off my back last night, I don’t need him to be reminded again.”
“Be careful with what you say, Kook.” Namjoon points out cockily. “Who knows, maybe one of us will shoot their shot and snatch your witch from you.”
“Do that and I will make sure you never graduate, hyung!”
“Aw, how romantic. I’ll be sure to mention it in my best man speech at your wedding!”
Weeks go by, and still no progress on Jungkook’s part. He still watches you from afar, albeit less often now that he knows his entire friend group has their eye on him, hoping that he’ll finally grow the balls to ask you out. Namjoon even contacted Seokjin and their other friend Yoongi at their jobs in the Ministry about the situation which ended up in the two aurors-in-training sending Jungkook a Howler with the booming message of “Ask her out already, dick head!”
Since then, the Gryffindor has been on edge. He doesn’t want to force himself into speaking to you because for all he knows, he’s just going to choke on his words or worse, vomit all over you just as he did to an entire row of parents at his kindergarten play about planting more trees. The traumatic memory of his classmates’ laughter and the acidic aftertaste lingers in both the back of his mind and the back of his mouth.
Shivering under the frigid draft inside the library, Jungkook forces himself to concentrate as he continues writing down notes on his parchment. His essay on the usefulness of memory potions is due the following class period, and all of the intensive Quidditch practices and constant afterparties inside Gryffindor Tower prevented him from completing it earlier in the month. Slughorn already despises him enough, so adding fuel to the fire isn’t going to help – even if he does share a mutual hatred for the professor and could care less about his opinion towards him at this point.
Who knows, maybe if he whips out an incredible essay that reaches the masses and inspires all of the wizarding community, you’ll be so impressed and agree to go out on a date with him which would eventually lead to getting married and buying a house and—
Jungkook shakes himself loose from his thoughts before he could fall back into an embarrassing daydream about you (again). Flipping through the pages of the Potions textbook, his eyes trace over the chapter titles in the table of contents in search for the Memory section when one header catches his eye.
Luck Potions.
His curiosity is instantly peaked. After making note of the page number, he flips through the middle of the book until he lands on the page he’s looking for. Squinting at the tiny print, Jungkook runs the subsection below the title.
The most common form of luck potion is felix felicis, also known as liquid luck! When brewed correctly, it increases the luck of the drinker. A little help from this potion, and a bad day turns into a great day!
His index finger taps the paper in contemplation as he skims through the rest of the section, making note of the history, ingredients, and wand movements for brewing. The ingredients would definitely be hard to come by, considering that he’s still at school and he doubts that Slughorn would lend him ingredients like Murtlap tentacle and Ashwinder egg so easily.
His heart sinks even lower when he reads the brewing time for the potion.
Brewing time: 6 months.
“I don’t have time for that.” He whispers in anguish. “What to do, what to do…”
The girl across the table from him shoots him a weird look, lifting her textbook closer to her face and shoving two earbuds inside as Jungkook continues muttering inaudible words under his breath.
At this point, Jungkook wouldn’t be surprised if he finds out that life’s rigged itself against him on purpose. He’s ready to give up, turn the page, and get back to work on the assignment he was meant to be writing for the past two hours, but for some reason, he stops himself. The fancy golden script at the top of the page is almost too tempting to shy away from, its ornate glow enticing him to continue reading. He can hear his friends’ voices now, pleading with him to rethink his plan of brewing a high-level potion with his mediocre skills.
But how hard could it be, really? Besides, it’s not like he has to complete the potion by himself.
In fact, he knows just the person to ask.
After slamming his textbook closed and alarming the same girl at his table into a full-bodied flinch, he dashes out of the library and in the direction of Gryffindor Tower, ignoring the calls of “Hey, Jungkook!” and “Hey Cap, when’s the next practice?”. When he’s finally safe and sound in his bedroom, albeit struggling to catch his breath, Jungkook rips a jagged piece of paper from his notebook with a quill already in hand.
Dear Seokjin hyung, I have a HUGE favor to ask, but don’t tell Namjoon and the others…
Tumblr media
“Y/N, how delightful to see you, my dear! Have you met my colleague, Archimedes? He’s one of my old friends from Hogwarts, he works at the Ministry now as their Head Auror.”
Once again, you find yourself plucked from the comfort of your dormitory bed and into the uncomfortable atmosphere of a Slughorn dinner party. He had invited you a few days ago, claiming that you just had to join him and the rest of your classmates for his holiday dinner. This was his slyly obvious way of slipping your accomplishments towards his peers while also capitalizing on your success as if he was the reason for it all.
While you know the man has good intentions, it wouldn’t kill him to back off just a tad – just enough for you to breathe, at least.
“Professor Slughorn, always a pleasure indeed. And no, I have not, but it’s a pleasure to meet you as well.” You twist your lips into what you hope looks like a polite smile. “How can I be of your assistance tonight, sir?”
“Oh, darling, no need to be so formal!” His large pot belly jiggles as he laughs wholeheartedly. “Tonight’s all about celebration! Just relax, enjoy the night! Oh look, there’s a few of my colleagues I wish for you to meet, if you don’t mind.”
“O-Oh, that sounds—”
“Horace!” A voice calls out from the other end of the room, successfully pulling Slughorn’s attention away from you.
This gives you the perfect opportunity to bolt, sneaking behind a gaggle of students in stuffy wizard robes as you make your way towards your friends who have been leaning against the backwall the entire time with looks of intense boredom plastered on their face.
“There you are, I thought Slughorn successfully kidnapped you this time.” Sooyoung smirks jokingly, both hands occupied with a champagne flute filled with cider and a tiny plate of hors d’oeuvres. “It’s nice to see that you’re still in one piece.”
“Barely.” You sigh tiredly as you reach to grab a cool glass of Butterbeer from your friend Sana. “Please hide me for the rest of the night, I’ll pay you five galleons.”
“Lies, you don’t have five galleons.” Sooyoung scoffs. “I should know, I was the one dusting off the cobwebs from your piggy bank the other night.”
You pout in defeat. “I’ll look over your dog for the weekend!”
Sooyoung sends you a strange grimace. “I don’t even have a dog, we’re not even allowed dog—”
“Please?”
“Maybe you should ask Jeon for some assistance. He looks more than willing.” Sana interjects with a giggle.
Your two friends beam in amusement at the redness blossoming across your skin. It’s a known fact in your friend group that you horde a small (ginormous) crush on Jeon Jungkook, the infamous Quidditch captain and golden boy of Gryffindor.
Growing up in a Slytherin household means that your parents hold extremely high expectations of you. Under their eyes, you’re to marry into another Slytherin household, continuing your legacy with your future generations. While they’ve become lax with their views on your non-Slytherin, non-pureblooded friends as well as with your plans of traveling the world after graduation instead of deciding on an arranged marriage like they had hoped, you’re not sure how they would react towards your attraction to a Gryffindor half-blood.
“You’re not funny, Sana.” You hiss in response, brows furrowed into an embarrassed frown.
“This time, I’m not even joking.” Sana hums knowingly. “If you don’t believe me, look for yourself.”
Eventually, your stubbornness forces you to break from your hesitation and shoot your gaze to where Sana was looking. You first notice Jungkook’s Gryffindor friend Taehyung who’s too preoccupied in making a fool of himself by the punch bowl with his weird dance moves. The other friend and a fellow Slytherin, Jimin, cheers him on, falling back against Jungkook in full-bodied laughter. Shifting your stare to the left of him, your breath hitches in your throat when you meet two wide eyes.
“Told you so.” Sana smirks as she takes a sip of her Butterbeer. “Now, that will be five galleons.”
Tumblr media
You definitely noticed him staring at you, and now you’re the one doing the staring. Jungkook’s eyes dart back and forth between you and his friends, the panic rising in his chest. The others are too distracted in their dancing to notice his dilemma. While he’s somewhat relieved that he doesn’t have to deal with his friends going into an entire teasing session, a little help would still be nice.
A little help.
As if a lightbulb dings to life above his head, Jungkook instantly reaches into his pocket inside his blue dress robes and tugs out the small vial of a glittery golden liquid. Seokjin had sent him the potion via owl that morning, along with a note with the message “Use wisely”. He sighs in relief when he notices that it was still filled to the brim, no sign of leakage or contamination whatsoever.
After Jungkook had sent him the letter detailing his you-related anxieties, Seokjin had quickly written Jungkook back with his plan. In exchange for Jungkook’s undying devotion (or his soul, in Jungkook’s opinion), Seokjin would contact one of his friends for a vial, making sure to send it over as soon as possible. Instead of risking expulsion by stealing from Slughorn’s store and potentially creating a faulty and dangerous potion, Seokjin would rely on the help from one of his trusted associates.
“Don’t worry about it! I’ve been buying from him for years, and he hasn’t let me down since!”
There’s no more time left to waste.
With a quick pop of the cap, he discreetly chugs the potion down, its gilded warmth running smoothly down his throat before spreading across his chest and settling inside his stomach. At first, nothing happens. In fact, it’s nearly so anticlimactic that Jungkook feels a frustrated flood of tears in his eyes. What if the potion Seokjin gave him turns out to be a placebo, and his true plan was all a means for Jungkook to learn his lesson about being more confident in himself?
Then, like a brick to the face, it hits him.
“Woah!”
Jimin and Taehyung snap out of their loud laughter at the sudden outburst. Their expressions grow more inquisitive when they notice Jungkook standing motionless and staring at his palms as if they were about to catch on fire at any moment.
“You okay there, Kook?” Taehyung asks warily.
Their concern grows exponentially when slowly, Jungkook’s mouth twitches into a large grin. A grin too toothy and too stretched out across his face, an image not unlike a clown or a creepy doll. The sight sends uncomfortable shivers up Jimin’s spine.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” Jungkook sighs airily. “Everything is just so swell!”
“Um…okay?” Taehyung shares a look with Jimin. “Do…you need us to get you anything? Some water?”
“Nope!” Jungkook smiles cheerily, his arms swaying from side to side while lifting up and down on his heels. “Thank you for asking, you two are truly the greatest friends a guy like me could ever ask for.”
“Okay, this is weird.” Jimin whispers into Taehyung’s ear. “He was literally panicking a second ago. Also, he’d never say that about us. He’s too much a little shit.”
“Did you sneak some firewhiskey into his goblet or something?” Taehyung mutters back, receiving a brisk shake of the head. “Someone must have spiked his goblet or something, but it wasn’t me.”
Jungkook’s entire body feels alight with fireworks, the anxiety that once riddles his chest and floods his thoughts dissipating like a thinning fog. He takes a moment to absorb his surroundings, humming at the intricate holiday decorations strung about the room and at every passing person. He’s completely immune to their weird sneers and not-so quiet whispering, his mind traveling back to his only purpose of the night.
There’s nothing much left to lose anyway.
With a quick deep breath in and out, Jungkook strides towards the other side of the room, ignorant towards his older friends’ panicked exclaims as the distance between you and him closes dramatically. His eyes glitter with excitement when you finally notice him approaching, the glass of Butterbeer in your hand slowly dropping from your peach-stained lips. Your friends nearly burst at the seams when Jungkook stops a mere foot away from you, the obnoxiously wide smile tightening his flushed cheeks.
Inside, your heart is beating at a thousand miles per minute. Never in your life did you ever think Jeon Jungkook would ever have the desire to come up to have a conversation. At first, you brushed it off as a trick of the light, but now with him standing in front of you with an expectant glint, it’s almost good to be true.
“Why, hello Jungkook, it’s wonderful to see you here.” You don’t miss the double meaning behind Sooyoung’s words. “I’m surprised you were even invited, considering the fact that Slughorn hates your guts.”
“Oh, that!” Sooyoung flinches at Jungkook’s loud tone. “Yeah, he didn’t invite me. I just tagged along with Taehyung since he got an invitation.”
“Oh, like a date?” You mutter teasingly, instantly flooding with regret when your voice comes off as bland. Also…
What kind of stupid comment is that?!
Thankfully, Jungkook catches onto your joke and gleams back at you. “He wishes, but I just so happen to have my eye on someone else.”
“Is that so?” You nearly choke on your own tongue. A quick gulp of Butterbeer is enough to soothe your dry throat. “They’re a lucky one.”
“If anything, I’m the lucky one.” Jungkook sighs dreamily, crossing his arms behind his back and swaying from side to side. You freeze when you feel his body tilt closer to yours. “They’re one of a kind, and I hope that tonight I can finally—”
Jungkook squawks to a stop. Literally.
You recoil at the unexpected noise, watching warily as Jungkook holds his throat in embarrassment.
What was that?
“Are…you okay?” You ask. Your hand twitches as if it wants to lift up and grasp Jungkook’s shoulder, but your other hand comes around to hold it in place, forcing it by your side.
“Yes, I’ll be fi—” Another squawk. “What the fu—” Squawk. “Hyung! Help—” The birdlike screech is never-ending, but slowly a feeling of dread washes over Jungkook.
A majority of the party is already watching the mess of a situation from the corner of their eyes, whispering to each other and giggling snootily to themselves. Jungkook barely hears you shouting his name alongside Jimin and Taehyung as he turns to make a run for the exit, his focus only on getting far away from the party and you as possible.
His hands clench into angry fists as he slows down into a tired stroll in the school’s courtyard. It’s completely barren, the grass topped with a thick layer of frost and the hanging torches illuminating each pathway. The snow crunches underneath Jungkook’s boots as he stomps away to a bench, brushing off the frozen excess before sitting down with a thud. He regrets not bringing a warmer robe, but he also didn’t expect to have to run out in the middle of the party after making a total fool of himself in front of not just you but everyone in attendance.
“Why, why, why?” Jungkook shoves his chilly face into his palms. “I’m such an idiot.”
The potion was supposed to be a success! Seokjin said so, even going out by saying that he completely trusted the guy and that Jungkook had nothing to worry about. At least Jungkook knows what’s next on his to-do list tomorrow.
Number one: Kick the shit out of Seokjin hyung for selling me bogus luck potions.
Rubbing at his temples, he lets out another sigh.
“Why is it always me?”
“Why, indeed…”
His head shoots up at the voice beside him, shocking him out of his pitiful mumblings. His throat swells up and his chest seizes in panic at the sight of you in your thin cardigan and strapless dress, seated next to him on the tiny, frost-bitten bench with your arms crossed over your chest.
“O-Oh, h-hi.” Jungkook spits nervously.
Still afraid that the screeching sounds would start again, he keeps his words to a minimum.
“Any reason why you ran out on me back there?” Your voice subtly wavers, but thankfully Jungkook would just think it’s from the cold. “Gave us a little scare, especially your friends. They asked me to go check on you.”
Jungkook slightly crumbles. So, you were forced to talk to him.
“I also kinda feel like it was partially my fault, so if there’s anything that I did…” You trail off awkwardly.
Jungkook shakes his head. “Oh, no, no!” He clears his throat as he feels the familiar build of a squawk in his throat. “It’s not you, it’s—”
“Me?” You scoff jokingly. “I’m not a half-blood or Muggle-born, but I know my fair share of Muggle rejections.”
“U-Uh, I didn’t mean it like that!” Jungkook stammers fretfully. “It’s just that…”
“It’s just…what?” You frown.
How does one explain to the girl that he likes that the only way he could speak to her was through a luck potion that gave him just enough confidence to mutter two coherent words? You’d just look at him like he’s a complete fool – rightfully so. Then, you’d walk right back to the party, cackle about the situation to your friends, and never speak to him again.
Yup, sounds about right to him.
He’s sick of it, sick of having to watch from a distance because he’s too much of a coward to tell you that you’re beautiful to your face. Too much of a coward to reach out to hold your hand, feeling its softness in his own rough, calloused palm. Too much of a coward to tell you how he truly feels.
Suddenly, like a dam bursting under pressure, his rambling thoughts spill out of his mouth.
“I’m so, so, so, so into you and I think that you’re such an amazing person, but I’ve never talked to you before and it’d be weird to just go up to you and ask if you could be my girlfriend because hey, weirdo! So, I thought it would be a good idea to make a luck potion but I’m completely shite at potions, everybody knows this, so I wrote to my friend Seokjin hyung about it and—”
As Jungkook babbles on at lightspeed, he barely registers the growing happiness on your face, the rosy tint in your cheeks not caused by the chilly winter air, and the twitching of your fingers towards his own.
“—But I’m pretty sure that he sold me a wonky potion anyway which means there’s just going to be a huge lawsuit on his hands because what if I died, you know?! Even though I don’t want Seokjin hyung to be responsible for it because hey, I’m still just a kid—”
Jungkook is frozen stiff when he feels supple lips against his, effectively muffling his words and drawing him back into reality. Suddenly, he feels the breeze against his face, the scent of your flowery perfume in his nose, your frigid fingers seeking warmth with his, and more importantly – your lips against his.
Slowly, he melts into your touch, eyelids fluttering closed and mouth moving in tandem with yours. After a couple minutes of soft kisses and gentle hand caresses, you let go, wet lips smacking together as you pull away. You giggle when you see that Jungkook still has his eyes closed, lips puckered, and hand stretched outwards to grab yours.
“You’re cute, but you talk too much.” You land a tiny peck on the tip of his nose. “Also, I’m pretty sure your friend either gave you a badly expired potion or sent you a babbling potion on purpose.”
“Hyung.” Jungkook growls as the possibilities settle in. It’s not unlike Seokjin to do that, especially when it came to someone like Jungkook who he personally enjoyed watching crash and burn. “I’ll be writing him a very detailed letter.”
“Or…” You lean over to intertwine your hands. “We can send him a horde of Howlers, one for each day of the week until he caves.”
Jungkook falls into a mischievous smirk. “You really are a Slytherin, are you?”
“Go on a date with me next weekend, I’ll show you how much of a Slytherin I can be.”

Books and Kisses
Hey guys! You all seem to really like Hermione x readers and who am I to deny you? I love them to. I’m also sorry that I’ve been away for so long, lots of family junk to deal with at the moment. I hope that this is kinda what you were looking for, Anon. Please enjoy!
Pairing: Hermione x Slytherin! Reader
Requested: Yep!
Anonymous Requested: Hi! I was wondering if you could do a Hermione X female reader where the reader is a Slytherin and is really nice but a massive smart ass so she always ends up fighting with Hermione and they somehow end up making out in the restricted section and as they’re walking out of the library, snape catches them and sort of just raises his eyebrow, like he knew it was coming? Thanks!!
Warnings: None that I can think of
The library was your favorite place in the entire school; if not for the books then because you loved teasing Hermione Granger. She always got so mad at you. The thought crossed your mind that she only got mad because of your house. Slytherin. Though you weren’t as needlessly rude to others like most of your house mates. Just Hermione.
Glancing around the library, you discovered that it was empty and Madam Pince wasn’t paying attention. Perfect. You took this opportunity to slip into the restricted section. You were looking for a book that would tell you how to brew a specific potion that, as a student, you weren’t allowed to make. You brushed your fingers over the well worn spines of the books, looking for the correct title in the dim light. Probably should have done this in the daytime, you thought, might have made this a little easier. As you looked through the books, you became aware of the feeling that you were being watched.
“You’re not allowed to be here.” You turned to see the bushy haired brunette that amused you so. You raised an eyebrow.
“Oh? And you are, Miss Goody-goody?” You returned, cooly. Judging by the way her cheeks flushed, she was breaking just as many rules as you were.
“I should tell a teacher that you’re back here without a pass,” She said in her ‘holier than thou’ voice. You smirked, laughing quietly to yourself. She couldn’t be serious. The look on her face told you otherwise.
“Hey, brainiac, you know if you tell someone I was here, they’ll know you were to. You’d be in just as much trouble as me,” You said. She snorted indignantly and you stifled a laugh. This was just too easy. Hermione could get frustrated just by looking at you.
When she found that she had nothing more to say, she scoffed and turned to a shelf of books behind her. You shook your head. That girl amused you in so many ways. You also kinda admired her head strong approach to life, the way she spoke to you. A small thump drew your attention behind you. She was jumping up in attempt to reach a book. You laughed.
“Something funny?” She asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Yeah, you,” You said, nodding to her. “I think you might want to try a different method.”
“And just what do you suggest?” You leaned into the shelves behind you casually and crossed your arms, watching her carefully.
“Hop on your high horse and I’m sure you’ll be able to reach,” You teased, a playful smile tugging at the corner of your overly glossed lips. You tucked a strand of (H/C) hair behind your ear as you ducked your head to laugh at her offended expression.
“I’m never on a high horse!” She snapped.
“Ah, right, must have you confused with someone else, my mistake.” You gave her a shit eating grin, turning back to the shelves and finally you found what you wanted. Another thump. Sighing, you turned, reached over her, and grabbed the book she was looking for. You took note of the fact that she went for her wand.
“Leave me alone!” She growled. You put your hands up in mock surrender.
“Relax, fluffy, I was just trying to help you out,” You said, offering her the book.
“Right.” She reached for it and you pulled it back. She tried again and you did the same thing. Glaring, she stood back and crossed her arms again.
“Are you going to give it to me?” She asked, impatiently.
“Maybe,” You said, wiggling the book in front of her.
“Maybe?” Her hand swiped at the book again, missing one more time.
“Maybe,” You confirmed, holding it above your head. Her glare became more intense. It reminded you slightly of your mother.
“(Y/N) (L/N),” She said, firmly. You laughed, not moving the book.
“Hermione Granger,” You said, mocking her tone.
“Give me that book!” She snapped. You brought the book down, still grinning at her playfully.
“What’s the magic word?” You asked in a McGonagall esque tone. She sighed, heavily as she began to tap her foot.
“Please.”
“Actually, it was Accio, but the manners are refreshing,” You giggled, handing her the book. She snattched it from you, sending you a withering look. You simply laughed, brushed the hair from your face.
“Must you always be so childish?” She asked, sounding exasperated. She opened the book and began walking away.
“I think the word you’re looking for is light-hearted,” You chirped, following her. She snapped the book shut and stopped in her tracks, looking up at you with a look that could kill. You just smiled.
“You’re infuriating!” She yelled.
“I think I’m adorable,” You said. For a second you thought she was going to bean you in the head with her book, but she didn’t.
“Why do you always pick on me? Don’t you have anything better to do?” You slung an arm over her shoulder.
“Not a thing,” You sang.
“I hate you,” She grumbled. You pouted, sticking your bottom lip out in an exaggerated way.
“Aw, come on, I’m not that bad,” You said, standing in front of her as she went to walk away. Everytime she moved, you moved the same way to keep her where she was.
“You’re annoying,” She said, swinging the book at you lightly. You dodged it easily, smiling.
“Missed me, missed me, now you gotta kiss me!” You sing-songed, dancing in front of her. Dropping her book to the ground, she gave a heavy sigh and pulled you into a kiss. You dropped your own book in surprise. Never in a million years did you ever think you’d be kissing Hermione Granger. Pansy Parkinson maybe, but never anyone like Hermione. Shrugging, you decided to go with it.
Her lips slid over yours, probably smearing the light pink gloss and you pushed forward with your bottom jaw. Her lips were more chapped than you thought they’d be. Smirking, you bit her bottom lip before dragging your tongue across it. Her mouth fell open and you slipped your tongue inside, tangling it with hers. Fingers tangled in hair. Teeth clicked together. Noses and chins bumped as things got more heated. You pushed her against the books, dropping your hands from her hair to her hips. Her hands trailed to your chest, shyly groping one of your breasts. You nearly laughed. Finally, you pulled apart.
“Well, um, that wasn’t exactly what I had in mind,” She said, attempting to smooth her tousled hair. You offered her a goofy smile in response.
“Who knew that Goody-goody Granger could do that?” You said, poking her cheek. She blushed more fiercely than she had been. You began to smooth out your shirt to the best of your abilities. You picked up both books and headed for the exit.
As the two of you exited the library, you became acutely aware of the fact that curfew was in a few minutes. Teachers would be roaming the halls. You didn’t get far before you ran into Snape. He looked down at the both of you through a curtain of greasy black hair, taking note of your rumpled clothing, wild hair, and flushed faces. He raised an eyebrow.
“I see you found a way to keep yourselves... busy,” He drawled. Your cheeks flushed and you stole a glance at Hermione. Her entire face had gone cherry red.
“Yes, sir,” You said, quietly. Oddly enough, he didn’t look surprised.
“Get to your dorms before I begin taking points,” He said, sternly and swept off. Turning to Hermione, you smiled.
“Why do I get the feeling that he saw this coming?” Hermione asked, sounding highly embarrassed.
“Probably because he did. I do tease you more than the average person,” You said. She sighed and shook her head as she looked up at you.
“I suppose.” You brushed some hair behind her ear.
“See you in potions?” You handed her the book she’d taken from the library and she finally smiled at you.
“See you in potions,” She laughed as she began walking towards the Gryffindor dorms. Smiling to yourself, you turned and made your way back to the Slytherin dorms. What a night.

Genre: fluff
Characters: Mark Lee, y/n

Tumblr media
At Hogwarts, everyone has a “thing.” For Jaemin, it was potions. For Ten, it was apparating.
Mark’s “thing” was quidditch. He had always been good at quidditch, it was like the seeker position tried out for him instead of the other way around. Actually, Mark was good at a lot of things.
Mark was good at being nice to people, especially Slytherin kids (he didn’t want them to feel left out). He was good at charms, good at studying, good at navigating around Hogwarts, good with the animals on campus.
One thing that Mark was not good at, however, was trying to talk to the Gryffindor quidditch announcer.
“...and he laughed at me when Professor Longbottom caught me sleeping! Gosh, you have to kick Jaemin’s butt during the next Gryffindor and Hufflepuff match. Mark, are you paying attention to me?” Donghyuck asked, waving his hand in front of Mark’s face.
“Wha- oh, yeah, sorry. I was just staring into space.” Mark laughed it off, Donghyuck knew what he was trying to cover up.
“You were looking for Y/N again, weren’t you? Why don’t you just admit it, you’re totally whipped.” Donghyuck took another bite of his sandwich. “I mean, why can’t you just go talk to her? You’re in the same house, you see each other every day.”
“It’s not as easy as it sounds. I mean, I don’t know, she’s just so… cool?” Mark tried to hide his face from embarrassment, Donghyuck just snorted.
“Mark, let me put it this way. If you think Y/N is cool, then you are like a god amongst humans. Everyone loves you, now if you can just talk to them. It’s like how everyone describes spiders, ya know? She’s probably more scared than you are.”
“Did you just compare Y/N to spiders?” Mark laughed at his friend’s silliness.
“That’s beside the point. Look, my cold heart and clueless mind are actually giving you some love advice, I recommend that you take it. Now, this guy has class right now, with Y/N. I’ll be leaving.” Donghyuck said goodbye to Mark, leaving him in the courtyard alone.
******
“Y/N! Hurry it up, you’re the one that wanted to be there early!” Koeun called from outside the Gryffindor dorms, waiting for you.
“I can’t find my scarf!” You called back out, searching around your bed area.
“Then go without it!” Koeun yelled back.
“Alright, alright.” You grumbled. Today’s game was supposed to be cold, too. You just hoped you wouldn’t strain your voice from the shouting mixed with the cool air.
You stepped out of the castle and began down to the quidditch field. As the commentator, you always had to go to the field early, while the teams were still practicing. You always ended up dragging someone along with you, and today it just so happened to be Koeun.
You and Koeun had met through quidditch, actually. Koeun had been watching her friends, Mark and Jeno, warm up before a game and you were the only other person in the stands; you were setting up the sound system. You had ended up talking and becoming close friends because of that.
“I can’t believe you’re dragging me down here in this weather.” Koeun grumbled, wrapping her arms around herself.
“Yeah, yeah. Says the person that comes early a lot just to watch her friends play.” You bumped her shoulder. “Oh, sorry, I got that wrong. You only come to watch Mark play.”
Even though you knew that Koeun didn’t like Mark like that, you liked to tease her for her long time friendship with the fellow fourth year.
“Oh, yeah, I’m the one that watches Mark.” She teased you right back. You weren’t the first one to admit that you enjoyed Mark’s presence. You weren’t close, but you vaguely knew each other through Koeun. In fact, Koeun had offered to properly introduce the two of you, but you were slightly intimidated by his popularity and good looks.
“Hey, I have no idea what you’re talking about.” You huffed, mildly embarrassed.
“Yeah, yeah, for sure. Now, go set up the speakers, I’ll go wait in the student section.” Koeun waved a short goodbye and wandered off to the student area of the stadium. You could see the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff teams warming up on opposite sides of the field.
You jogged up to the announcer’s podium and plugged in the speaker underneath the point counter, a short pop letting you know that it was on.
“Alright, now, where is the microphone…” You hunted around the podium, and found the microphone behind the counter. “How did you get th-”
“WATCH OUT!”
Your thoughts were blocked off by the sound of a team member yelling. You looked up just in time to see a bludger coming at what seemed like lightspeed, and a person catching it.
*****
“Hey, Koeun!” Mark waved and shouted from across the field. He was on a break, so he rode his broom over to greet Koeun as she was sitting down in the student section, Jeno following close behind. “Where’s Y/N?”
“Oh, she’s up at the announcer-place-thingy. Getting ready for the game, and all that. Why might you be asking?” Koeun asked, raising an eyebrow at Mark.
“Oh, no reason. Just maybe because he looooooov-” Jeno began, before Mark lunged at him, causing both of them to almost fall off their brooms.
“Called it.” Was all Koeun said, a mildly creepy smile forming on her face.
“What do you mean, called it? I barely even get to talk to her, how would you know? Speaking of which, does she hate me? It’s almost like she avoids me.”
“Oh, please. She doesn’t hate you. I mean, gosh she’s gonna kill me, but she’s basically told me that she lik-”
“WATCH OUT!”
And then, Mark was gone. He made it to the announcer’s podium just in time to catch the bludger headed towards your face.
What he didn’t take into account, however, was just how fast the bludger was going. By the force of the ball, he and his broom were knocked into the announcer’s podium and on top of the announcer herself.
“Holy crap, are you okay?” Mark went up on his knees, taking your hands and helping you off the ground.
“Oh, uh, yeah, I think so. Thanks, that could have been a lot worse.” You giggled a bit, wincing when you felt a sharp pain on the skin on your stomach. On his way down, Mark had accidentally elbowed you there.
Jeno and a few other team members raced up to see what happened and you could hear Koeun running up the steps to the podium. People had begun to file into the stadium, ready for the game to start, and were confused as to why a bunch of Gryffindor players were gathered.
“Yo, Lee, you good? Think you can still play?” The team captain, Johnny, called out from the group on their brooms.
“Oh, yeah, for sure. You sure you’re good, Y/N?” He looked over at you to see your face bright red and looking down.
He looked down as well and saw that your hands were still connected.
“Well, well, Lee, that’s quite the way to win someone’s heart.” One of the other members of the team shouted, earning a roar of laughter from the team. You and Mark disconnected your hands faster than that bludger had come at you. Mark picked up his, thankfully, unharmed broomstick and turned to look at you one more time before riding down to the field to play.
It was only then that Koeun made it up to the podium. “Whoa, what happened? Are you okay? Is Mark okay? Hello, Y/N?” Koeun fired off questions at you, but you weren’t paying attention. You were looking down at your hands, where Mark’s had just recently been. His hands were soft, much larger than yours, and warm.
“Y/N, the game is about to start, you should go and start commentating.” Koeun snapped you out of your dreamworld, guiding you towards the chair you always sat at during games. “I’ll stay here to make sure you’re fine.”
“Right, yeah, that sounds good. Thanks.” You pulled the microphone towards you and began your normal routine.
Your brain was totally clogged throughout the whole game. You missed a few plays and stopped talking a few times. You could only follow Mark on the field.
You wondered if it was a concussion or infatuation.
******
It turns out that it was a little bit of both.
“Well, that’s quite the story. I’m sure that won’t be forgotten any time soon.” The nurse on call at the medical ward laughed with you a bit after the game. You were sitting up in a bed, a warm blanket around your shoulders and a cup of tea mixed with headache medicine in your cold, raw hands.
As you were talking with the nurse, another person wandered his way into the ward.
“Ah, Mr. Lee. I heard about your tumble earlier, are you here for treatment as well?” The nurse asked, standing up from her position on the edge of your bed.
“Ah, no, I’m kinda used to things like that by now. I’m just here to check up on Y/N.” He smiled at the nurse. The tips of your ears began to be tinted pink, your eyes widening.
“Alright, I’ll leave you two to talk. Let me know if you need anything, Y/N.” The nurse patted your hand and left the ward.
“Hey, I heard from Koeun that you have a concussion. Is everything okay?” He asked, standing awkwardly by your bed.
“Yeah, I’m fine, thanks. Are you sure you’re okay?” you asked. “I mean, you were the one that got hit with a bludger.” He laughed a bit at that.
“Yeah, I’m good. Like I said, I’m a chaser. I’m used to it by now.” He smiled, an awkward silence falling in between you two.
“You can sit if you want.” You said quietly, nodding towards where the nurse was previously sitting.
And there, you two talked. You talked about classes, about mutual friends, and about anything else that came to mind.
“So, I wanted to know something.” Mark looked away from you, awkwardly scratching his head. You leaned forward, edging him on. “Uh, so, Koeun sorta… I don’t know, was in the middle of telling me something when you almost got hit. I’m not sure if this is what she was gonna say, but it kinda sounded like she was saying that you liked me.”
Your face turned bright red. “Oh my God, I’m gonna kill Koeun.” You set your mug down on the table next to you and covered your face, begging that Mark couldn’t see how flustered you were.
“It’s okay if you don’t, I mean really, but like, I wouldn’t be complaining if that was the truth.” When you looked back up, Mark’s face was almost as red as yours was.
“Wait, really?” You whispered.
“Yeah.” Mark said. “Do you wanna go into Hogsmeade tomorrow? Together, you know?”
“Yeah, I’d like that a lot.” You smiled, no, grinned at Mark, and his smile back was equally as wide.
