I've been wanting to ask for a while! What culture do you take inspiration from when drawing clothing in your art?
I’ll try to be quick and to the point with this so I don’t ramble too much, and I’ll only mention the ones I have definitive answers for. Also note that I do often put my own non-historically accurate spin on fashion so my stuff isn’t always an exactly accurate copy of the inspiration:
Stoney Dornish: I use Caucasian-inspired fashion for the Stoney Dornish houses (ie, House Dayne)! Shout out to my friend @imjustapoorwayfaringgeek for helping me get a bunch of refs 😚🫶 everyone who sees this follow them pls
Targaryen/Valyrian: Byzantine fashion is my main inspo. There’s centuries worth of styles to pick from and it’s a lot of fun creating my own styles based off of the silhouettes and patterns used in Byzantine fashion.
Stormlands: The Stormlanders are Scottish in my heart, so I use a lot of Scottish-inspired fashion when designing them.
The Reach: I use Italian Renaissance fashion as the inspiration for the Reach nowadays, but some older Tyrell pieces do feature Tudor fashion, which I no longer use for any region or culture. Some outfits are also inspired by Botticelli’s costume design in his paintings.
The Riverlands: I rarely draw them, but Ireland is the main inspo for these guys.
The Iron Islands: I use mainly Scandinavian fashion for the Iron Islands, though I do reuse some of the styles I use for the mainland North for the Ironborn. Think of it as the two regions trading fashion styles due to their close proximity.

♡ Hello!! ♡
My name is Stars☆, and welcome to my gyaru blog! I'm a genderqueer man in my late 20s starting to explore the world of gyaru after a great deal of research and soul-searching to see if this is the right lifestyle for me--and as of right now, it is! I am for SURE still a baby gal but I feel very drawn to ganguro and feel so at home within myself when I dress in gal☆
My pronouns are it/its but he/him is also super. I have been a kandi kid for what feels like forever and in my heart, rave and gal r siblings♡ I live by PLUR and have always been intent on breaking the mold and refusing to conform to society's standards of beauty and normalcy, so when I discovered gyaru I was naturally very curious about it.
This tumblr will serve primarily as a place for me to compile images of other gals, style and makeup inspo, and occasionally fun little aesthetics and other miscellaneous posts that resonate with me and this particular aspect of my life. Its secondary purpose is for me to talk about my journey as a gal! In time I may start posting selfies but as I'm still starting out and figuring out how I want to style myself I may not do it very often.
This is a sideblog! I will like and follow from @drunkstarscreamofficial , and my personal blog is @mimikyubestie . I also have a Skyrim blog @boethiahsboytoy and a blog for OC posting @starscreams-drunk-oc-blog . If you need anything tagged, let me know! My ask box will (probably) always be open, so feel free to stop by to chat at any time!
Thanks for stopping by! If you've got any questions just shoot me an ask. Have a great day!! ☆Stars☆
Some fun facts about me (under the cut because wow do i love to ramble):
I've known I was queer since I was a wee little lad and I am still exploring my identity (and predict I will for a very long time!).
I am asexual and demiromantic with a preference for men--so I'm also a gay man!
I use a cane to help relieve chronic (undiagnosed) back pain! I REALLY want to save up for a plain black cane and TONS of cute things to decorate it with--stickers, jewels, etc.--to match the gyaru lifestyle. But my favorite one is my orange lava cane that my husband bought me♡♡
At the moment I'm super broke 😭 I work part time in retail but have to pay for my meds and hormones (and my doctors appointments and labs related to them) out of pocket, so my shift into the gyaru lifestyle will be slow as I lack the funds to add pieces to my wardrobe that I want. I will be focusing more on new makeup and accessories than clothes however, as I loooove altering my own clothes and have many ideas of how I can change up my wardrobe just by using what I already have.
I can't wear big dramatic falsies (for the most part) because I need glasses. I can't afford to see an optometrist to get contacts (and couldn't afford contacts anyway😭), so I make do by drawing on lower lashes and decorating under my eyebrows with cute eyeliner stamps or glitter!
My favorite color is orange, but ironically I don't style a lot my outfits with lots of orange! However some of my Signature Looks are ALL orange, so I think that makes up for it ;P
My favorite movies are Pride and Prejudice (the 2005 one), Pacific Rim, and The Bye Bye Man. My favorite movie genre is horror, and I REALLY like comedy and found footage horror especially.
My favorite genres of music are hardstyle, hardbass, happy hardcore, and eurobeat. My favorite musicians and bands are The Sounds, DJ S3rl, Headhunterz, Uamee, and Unleash the Archers.
I did drag for a bit, but after a while wearing a full face of makeup started giving me really bad sensory issues. Now I pretty much only do eye makeup and slap on some lip gloss (and occasionally lipstick if I feel up to it).
I am mixed white (specifically Welsh mostly) and Filipino, though unfortunately have no real significant ties to my cultures :( But I do love Filipino food !!
That's all for now! If you read this far you're a fucking champ 😭😭 Stay safe out there!!

you all know i hate getting sappy on main (spoiler: i do not) but i legitimately never thought it would reach 500 followers, let alone 2,000 of you. it's insane to me. blows my mind. i think i say that every time i reach a milestone but it's so, so true. every day i am super thankful for each and every one of you who decides to stay and interact and engage with my little blog where i write like, one fic a month and shitpost multiple times a day 😂
i always feel like i'm not the typical fanfiction writer, not one that gets popular at least, so seeing how many people love my work truly makes me so happy. you guys know that all i ever want to do is write to make people happy and write stories where people who look like me are represented. i put a lot of my own truths, my own story, and my own insecurities into my writing and it always resonates with you guys - something that i appreciate. knowing that, i have put together a little challenge for you guys, and i am looking forward to seeing everyone participate!
Tumblr media
the challenge
in this challenge, i am asking you to be bold. to be fearless. to be uniquely and loudly and wholly you. i've always thought that writing is the best way to be honest, because in writing fiction, we're all just using lies to tell the truth. many of my fics feature plus-sized reader characters who have insecurities, but face their fears and embrace who they are and what they have to gain confidence in themselves. these are my little truths that i tell in the lies of fic - that my insecurities exist.
i am challenging you to write a fic that explores an insecurity of yours. i want you to write something that represents you, faces your fear, and leaves you with confidence. are you a plus-sized person? write a plus-sized reader who finds their confidence in a new outfit! are you an asian person? write an asian reader who teaches their partner a new facet of their culture! are you a tall person? write a tall reader who is given the confidence to wear their heels in public!
these are just simple examples, but i hope that you can find what represents you, and i hope that you can be bold and fearless enough to show the world that you are unapologetically you. we all need our comfort characters, and sometimes we need our comfort characters to tell us that we deserve the world.
so write it, 'cause you deserve the world.
Tumblr media
the rules
✨ THIS CHALLENGE AND BLOG IS 18+ ONLY, MINORS DNI
✨ this challenge is for MCU characters and reader-inserts only! poly ships are allowed as long as there is a reader character
✨ you do not have to be following me in order to participate, but feel free to reblog this post and signal boost it to your friends!
✨ there is no word count limit! write 100 words - write 100,000! i will read every ounce of it either way!
✨ while smut is allowed, no noncon/dubcon or A/B/O content, please!
✨ please use warnings, read more cuts, and tag your work appropriately
✨ speaking of tags, please use the #divine2kwc tag when posting, tag me in the fic, and feel free to dm or send me an ask letting me know when you've posted!
✨ the deadline for this challenge is november 20th, 2021. however, if you submit late, your fic will still get read and i'll retroactively add you to the masterlist!
Tumblr media
the inspiration
these are some of my favorite songs! feel free to use these to draw inspo from, to use the lyrics of, or to base your fic around! however, you are not obligated to use these either!
TORO. LIILY - Look into my eyes, be the holy to my Ghost // Bless me, your strange love
WOLF LIKE ME. TV ON THE RADIO - Baby doll, I recognize // You're a hideous thing inside // If ever there were a lucky kind // It's you, you, you, you
THE MOON WILL SING. THE CRANE WIVES - I shine only with the light you gave me
MARIGOLD. MOTHER FALCON - And every day and all night // Even when you're alright // I don't want to let you go
NOBODY. MITSKI - And I know no one will save me // I'm just asking for a kiss
IF YOU’RE TOO SHY (LET ME KNOW). THE 1975 - There's something 'bout her stare that makes you nervous // And you say things that you don't mean
GIRLS. GIRL IN RED - They're so pretty, it hurts // I'm not talking 'bout boys, I'm talking 'bout girls
OPEN. RHYE - I'm a fool for that shake in your thighs // I'm a fool for that sound in your sighs
ENCORE. CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN - I suppose that life goes // The way that it goes and you’ll notice it gets better // Each time, that you’re mine
NEVER LET YOU DOWN. BARNS COURTNEY - Oh, you're mad, sugar sweet, from your lips // And your teeth I could die for the likes of you
YOU AND I. BARNS COURTNEY - Well, I know they said I'm bad news // That I wouldn't treat you right

A/N: I dunno if I've got any desi/brown/poc readers but if you're reading this I love you so much and you (us) deserve the same validation and representation others get.
Here's a blurb as to what it feels like celebrating Eid with Harry! Enjoy!
Warning: none — just loads of fluff.
More Inspos, Masterlist, Let's Talk
Tumblr media
The night's pretty with murky clouds and thick layer of moon's brightness as Y/N cleans her flat, from scrubbing her Persian rugs to deep cleansing her vases back from her homeland. The flame evaporating from her candles scented like springs of Kashmir, flickers from her blowing sheer curtains due to the zephyr flurring outside.
She feels content, at peace waiting for Harry who promised that he'll be at her place by 11. He always comes an hour early helping her in setting the table before the iftari, they've been doing it together since the start of ramdan until today when he texted her he's busy along with a sad smiley.
It was fun. He fasted with her once or twice and would make sure she's hydrated enough once they break it, his love for rooh-afzah (it's a drink red in color made from essence of roses and some sweet herbs) will never fail to make her giggle as he'd demand for more after gulping two glasses already.
Then showing her his tummy along with his food pregnant jokes.
Her classes are online so it gave her time to experiment some cooking. They'd make samosas together and she always had an urge to hold back her cooes as his tongue used to poke out in concentration everytime his diligent fingers folded the samosa sheets skillfully.
"Did a pretty go'job here, innit?" He'd grin raising it like a summat trophy.
The moment he used to leave her flat (ofcourse after giving a tight hug before doing so) they both missed eachother terribly, y/n doesn't like the way her home falls into an abyss without his presence.
He's like a sunshine that warms her insides up.
The whistle of kettle and several raps of knocks on her door drags her from her fond memories of them together, she slings her feet down from the coffee table rushing to open it.
"Angel."
Harry says breathlessly prolly because he climbed three flight of stairs to get to her or that he's utterly flustered.
Her eyes remain struck at the thingies piled in his arms, a box of chocolates, many brown bags and stems of freshly blood ripped roses tucked between his knuckles.
He bought all of these gifts for her.
To make her feel like home.
To be her home.
What the fuck, nobody has ever done that for her —-- she just mighty cry.
Her mouths gupples like a fish too overwhelmed to react her emotions out and he gives her a sweet smile kicking the door shut with his feet -- gestures her to wait when she almost jumps like a cub to hug him and puts everything on the sofa knowing the things inside them's too delicate.
"C'mere, baby." He grins and she doesn't waste a moment falling in his embrace. Her cheeks smashes against his taught chest and she fists the hem of his shirt smiling too hard for her own sake as he sways them with his own rosy cheek squished against her temple.
"I love you so much, thank you." She murmurs gazing up at him with glinting eyes -- arms still lopped around his waist and his chin doubles adorably as he gives her his signature bunny grin kissing the tip of her nose, "Love you too bubba ... don't want ya homesick, at alllll."
The aggressive whistle of kettle parts them away, "Cuppa cha? Then we'll unwrap these pleasanteris." She points at the paper bags.
He nods flopping onto the floor cushions beside the large oak window of the balcony where they could bathe in moonlight.
"Thank you." He quips, kissing her fingertips while slipping his fingers under the handle of mug and takes it from her as she sits infront of him. He admires her for a second —- fawning over how she's looking so soft and cuddle-able wearing a baggy mauve kurta and some mismatched shalwar.
The tearing open of the stuffing tissue brings him back to focus --- this, he wanted to see this happiness dance over her features as she clutches the ethnic traditional dress he bought for her infront of her and when lifts it down he's met by overly excited eyes.
It's ethereal with golden details, handmade wire work and sheer fabric.
"It's gorgeous, pups." She squeezes his hand and he takes the sip of his cha smiling against the rim of the mug shyly, "Wasn't s' sure -- Sarah helped me in collecting stuff." Sarah's Y/N's bestfriend who was the only desi/brown in her filming class.
"No wonder she was being a lil sneak." Y/N chuckles already rummaging for what comes next.
He wanted to make sure he gets her everything they do traditionally in her culture and ate Sara's ears off to help him buy the most special thing and it's right there creating sweet noise when they touch eachother, dangling from her fingers.
"Churiyan .... " She whispers bitting down a smile. She loves glass bangles. Their colourfulness cheers her mood up and she'd always go with her Nani a night prior eid to select the most flamboyant pair of them from a bazar (market).
"This -— " She gestures to the gifts scattered around them, " —-- all of this and you, means alot to me." She sighs giving him a wet smile and he smoothes his thumb against her cheek like she's the most fragile thing to exist.
He watches her in a tad confusion when she stands up with a giggly squeal putting everything away and comes back with a tube of henna in her hand.
"It's chand raat t'night 'cos tommorrow is eid -- usually I spend it with Sarah and we apply henna to eachother, we're horrible at it honestly but now she isn't here 'm gonna bite yours ears —-" He cuts her off. Ushering her to sit back on her spot. He couldn't be more glad to spend all of his time with her whether it's just watching her make designs on her hand with henna.
"Your cha's waftin'." He shakes his head bringing it to her lips, "It's hot." She tells him drawing a circle on her palm and filling it with beautiful darkness of henna.
"Okie then ... " He blows at the hot beverage to cool it down and again brings it to her lips, "Now." He croons softly to her. She holds his wrist taking a sip from it -- he tucks the strand of her hair back and she smiles up at him making him chuckle when she takes a huge sigh as if her soul just woke up.
"What do we d'tommorrow?" He asks. Knowing most of the time they went to Zayn's house on Eids his mother used to fill the whole table with delicious dishes and the whole day was spent having fun.
"We do nothing but have loads of nice time -- I already made a dessert 'cos I know I'll be too lazy in the mornin', and invited your friends if that's okay?" She glances up at him done with her left palm.
"Perfect then," He nods, "D'ya need help with the other one?" He asks grabbing her right hand and the tube of henna from her.
"Yes, please." She shows him her hand covered with with henna and since it's wet she could do one thing wait or let him do it. The second options sounds more good.
"Not on me if it gets messed up." He warns her nonchalantly following the same pattern of her left hand. Stealing glances of her attractive face every now and then, dotting her moles with his intense gaze, he just thinks her brown eyes look more intricate – it's specks as if the forests soil on the first rains when they dilate with her racing heartbeat.
They're like an open book to him and at the same time mysteriously dark that he feels like burning a match to melt in them.
"You did it way better than me," She snorts examining it closely and turns the other way round to lay down on the carpeted floor and rest her head in his lap. He wipes his own hands watching the dark henna leaving a swipe of color on his fingertips.
He pets her hair, dimples milking into his cheeks when she raises her both hands infront of him -- blocking the moonlight that's falling on her, "When I was small I always used to end up getting it on my face and lemme tell ya. Having a yellow blotch isn't even a tiny bit fascinating on the only day you could dress up fancy."
His chest rumbles with giggles and he brings her hands closer to her lips blowing raspberries at them to get them dry early.
Comfortable silence envelopes them in to the point where they could hear crickets singing outside and moonlight sparkling on their skin —- she breaks it cuddling up into his chest.
"I really appreciate this, Harry." Her voice hushed whisper and her cherry stained lips couldn't resist but to patch kisses where his heart lays and she could sense it kicking a pace, "The fact that you did so much just for me -- is beyond my thought. I really feel like home." He let her speak. Squeezing her shoulders to convey the fierceness of his emotions he holds for her. His silken lips pressed to her temple and his eyelids flutters with each spurt of breath she inhales.
"I'll keep making you feel like home, till the day you'll allow me." Today. He for actually felt that his home was never a building or the luxurious furniture adorned inside it, but her. It's always gonna be her.
Because the moment he gets lost in those eyes all he come across is their shared laughter, their moments spent on this balcony right outside sipping onto their chas and watching the city wake up infront of their eyes, going to places he has never been to before, doing things he never thought he'd do in hundered years —- he isn't a big fan of spices but he still pretends like a big boi infront of her while eating pani puri she's oh so obsessed with.
The times she was never embarrassed to introduce him to her community or her friends, and getting soaked into rains even though they could've just used his car, having days planned to make him try new desi dishes, going to buy candles of many scent and shapes with him but then never feeling like leaving the store until he warns her that he'll throw her on his shoulder infront of everyone.
Going to Turkish markets together. He's a bread lover and so all this time he doesn't feel like leaving the shops filled with different kiln and tandoori breads. Eating Simit and drinking black tea in the amardu cups sitting outside the cafe –- he likes it with cheese while she might sound bland she just likes a bit of butter.
Them deciding for hours and hours which Persian rug to buy -- but never buying it apologising to the shop keeper.
Giving eachother head massages from the organic rosemary Morrocon oil that one of her friend gifted her, (Y/N) thinks she's one hell of a masseuse but Harry thinks otherwise —- though he would never ever break her heart so it's better keeping it a secret.
His nose creates a purring sound while he sleeps leaning against the wall, he doesn't even remember when he fell into the deep slumber with his large hand still wrapped around her wrist in a protective manner to keep her from moving.
It's cute.
Though when she stirs to regain consciousness with the birds chirping outside she feels remorseful finding him sleeping in such an uncomfy position just because of her and he wakes up with a loud wheeze —- blinking rapidly to see what just happened only to visibly relax back when she shushes him gently.
"Baby .... shit." He grogs out, knuckling at his eyes pointing at her jaw which's covered into a orangish streak, "Don't tell me." She groans bumping her head against his bicep.
A moment later they burst into fits of hoarse giggles and chuckles. She'd try to suck in air to not to snort and would do it nonetheless driving them more into belly aching laughter.
"Eid Mubarak, I guess?" He cackles loudly. Dimple coveting in to his velvet of skin. Rubs the tip of his nose against her's affectionately and swoons her in his arms to hug her warmly.
"Now -— go 'n dress up, c'mon." He cups the nape of her neck playing with the baby hair there and she whines smushing her face against his chest, "No. Lemme sleep some more."
"Heyyy none of that, c'mon sleepy girl you'll regret it later." He boops her nose smiling down at her fondly and she grumbles mumbling something in between you're so annoying or you're being so much like my mum.
He waits for her laying on the sofa with his arms folded and eyes closed. Prolly took a mini version of nap only to perk his head up grabbing the back of sofa when she returns with wet hair, soft clean face and lips tinted cherry wearing the dress and bangles he bought for her.
An enchantress from head to toe, he wouldn't even complain if she bewitches him.
He needs someone to pinch his bum because he thinks his eyelids might have struck. He takes a dramatic breather mischievously, pupils dilated cutesly and heart shaped lips parted with the sweet loving words in praise of her beauty burning at the tip of his tongue.
His fawning gives her butterflies. Expanding her chest with warmth and she does a three-sixty when he spindles his nimble in the air demanding her to show herself from every angle.
Her head falls back. An echo of happy giggles resonating in the room when he smacks his hand against his chest and flops into heaps of sofa cushions.
"You're fuckin' beautiful, a total knockout." He walks towards her with his hands spread open and takes her's to kiss the inside of her palms, "So are you." Her voice small with shyness. He sits on her on sofa and stays beside her with his chin perched upon his knuckles staring at her like she hung the moon -- as if she's a prayer come true.
"Did you get me ready to d'nothing?" She turns towards him. The curled up fringes kissing the apples of her cheeks same as his fingertips are dying to do so.
"I might sound selfish but it was a trap to get you ready early so I could admire you till everyone squeeze between us ... " He smirks and she huffs sinking deeper into the sofa throwing her limbs in air and his breath hitches when her bangles clanks together producing a beautiful noise.
"Harry!!" She whines.
"Okie, time to fill some grumpy kitten's tummy." He announces standing up to head to kitchen and she shakes her head with a silly smile trailing behind him.
All she knows is that. This Eid she'll have the best time of her life, as she could already feel his energy and love radiating in every corner of her home.
.
@harryforvogue idk why but everytime I'd sit to write this blurb you'd pop in my mind, hope so you're not hiccuping wildly.

It has called my attention your drawing of Ariana... bc she has been making herself be brown skinned and part of a culture that’s not hers... and i thought you were against that
lol truthfully, i don’t really have anything constructive to say but this ask has been bugging me for the past few days so i’m gonna post a bit of  rant under the cut >>>
her spray tan is excessive and her /speech/ often is borrowed –– i’m not excusing her for it. but it recent years, i have seen her more as a woman who has gone through some traumatic public trials, released more consecutive albums than i thought possible (i never really paid attention to anyone else tbh), and also been a pominent example of A Woman Who Keeps On Going Even When Her World Flips Upside-Down.
tldr: i respect her
a part that frustrates me is that we all have skewed perceptions of body-social-media-standards-of-beauty ideas, making it nearly impossible to comprehend things the (exact) same way. everyone can see it, she spray tans, DARK. she does up her hair, keeps a trim figure, changes her eyebrow shape, does her lips–– this is not a criticism, this is just what i can see for myself. i know what a fucking spray tan looks like. i can see with my own eyeballs if a magazine ‘darkens’ the hues to suit a theme [without her hand in it], even if it doesn’t honestly reflect the true colors; when they edit a human body to a shape that does not account for ribs and internal organs. certain things are out of her control. And >> i’m secure in what i look like, and trust that Every Body is... A Body; that’s it. i know better than to ‘wish’ a certain complexion or figure on myself or to allow it to influence me–– it’s a matter of how everyone else perceives it. i can look at her and be like, yep, that’s ari. and that’s it.
>> i’m sure ariana is tackling her own handful of body image issues (of which SHOULD remain private), and while she is a role model for many young and impressionable people... [to me] it’s frustrating to see celebrities expected to understand every minute detail about their social influence.............. like, think for yourselves every once in a while, folks. she’s a person too....... facing her own battles............
as for the culture part >> i’m laughing to myself that IDK what part you’re talking about. i’m going to assume that you think she is appropriating black culture and speech.  i don’t know her well enough to provide examples but, \ she talks/sings with the AAVE and ~profits~ from it. my mind also wanders to her japanese character tattoos and ///kawaii/// style. i’ve seen ppl come for her hair, calling out her extensions as ‘weave’ in a negative light during her early years, as well as ‘baby hair styling’ bordering on hair appropriation.
idk what to think about all that–– like, obviously that’s not great.
i’d like to think that she learns a little bit of something new every year and corrects herself in private (as no one really owes it to the world to admit their faults and publicly correct themselves for every offense)..... but i dunno!
again this is not an excuse but an ongoing observation but: fashion / style / trends often forget to credit where the inspo comes from. the cultures they take from don’t meet the same profit as the famous face that sports it. it’s unfortunate, but that’s how ‘new culture’ builds. i think that when you see it and recognize it comes from something else, you have to do just that. RECOGNIZE IT. don’t call it ‘bella hadid/kendall jenner fox eye’ call it ‘makeup [inspired from asian eyeshapes]’. don’t look at pretty puffy injected pouts and think the desire just comes from nothing. if you acknowledge, allow, and credit things that inspire you... we will all grow beautifully TOGETHER.
it’s up to us to be aware of what we consume, how we perceive it, and how we react to it.
admittedly, i can be a lil ari fan because i don’t really feel the influence to ‘look’ or ‘act’ like her. i just appreciate her person and the bops she puts out. that sentiment alone is enough for me to draw it.
this feels like a long-winded way to say, “i see it, but i still want to draw it.” which, isn’t always great. i’m not vouching for her, but she makes me happy and i wish her well.
no one is perfect, but she is not an overtly malicious person. it would be hypocritical and impossible to only consume pristine content, but that’s also not an excuse to just let things slide. watch critically for yourself, as well as the position of the person in question.
have a good one ✌🏼

When The Worlds Collide - VI
Kili x reader
A/N: Hey guys, sorry for not posting my own works in like two weeks or so. It was rough for my mental health and school was kicking my ass and I was not in a mood for doing many things, so now I hope you will like this long chapter!! It’s not really about the main plot, just some fluffy moments to enjoy. Also, it was my birthday 23rd September and it’s finally autumn!! I also don’t really know when am I going to draw, because like I said, I was not doing mentally well, but I think I could give it a shot in a next few days, because I’m on my autumn break, finally! I’ve been finishing a cake w my mom in past hour or so and I created a moon on it and waves in Gogh’s paintings style, I’ll show you a photo of it in next part.

Also, I’m not sure in which year in modern world this shall be oriented, but songs I’ve been thinking of (aka you playing these to them):
Spanish: Volar – Alvaro Soler, also We Don’t Speak Americano
French: Amour Plastique – VIDEOCLUB, La Vie En Rose – Edith Piaf
Korean: Sweat, Blood & Tears – BTS (because I don’t know almost any Japanese songs, but I like this one and some other songs in Korean)
Vegetable pie – quiche (I’ve had a pumpkin one in a cafe and it was real good)
Warnings: fluff

One of the fun things while having this group around was that they would constantly look around some rooms in your house and tell you how pretty it was, even if you haven't been tidying and cleaning it in two weeks at least. They also loved to explore your library and spended countless hours by reading the books. You've decided to introduce them to human culture. Only the basic things, really.
"So, here, the race of Men has developed into a different coultures and languages all over the world. Can you guess, for example, how many languages is here?" Kili didn't even thought about his answer.
"Well, you have one common language, so I guess just one, maybe two or three," He said with proud confident smile, changing in his typical cheeky grin as he winked at you. You chuckled and shook your head. Balin looked up from his book.
"There must be more. What about five, or ten?" You looked over others.
"Any other answer? C'mon, try out some number." You felt like a teacher in a class of many different students.
"Thirty languages, that could be," said Legolas calmly.
"Well, this is much bigger world, but it can't be that much. I guess twenty." Bard was thinking aloud.
"So, how is it, lass?" Fili asked and you couldn't help to cover a smile that was forming on your face.
"Well, actually, it's much more than that," you said. You've heard Gandalf to chuckle.
"It's over six thousand languages." Kili's eyes widened and his jaw fell down, Fili did pretty similar face. Most of them looked at you as if you'd told them you personally know Smaug and he's your best friend. And that dragons are the biggest cuddly softies.
"Bold of you to assume that whole population in this world speaks one language or a few dozens of them," you jokily murmed to yourself. Of course, elvish ears have picked that up. Thranduil looked at you with his icy glare.
„How does they sound, then?“ You pulled out your phone and opened YouTube.
„Well, this is a language called Spanish,“ You‘ve played one song in Spanish and all of them were listening to it, deeply in thought. You’ve noticed some dwarves trying to catch the lyrics, and when the song ended, you looked over them.
„This was Spanish, it’s one of the most largely-spoken languages all over the world. It can be slightely different, it depends on where you go. Then, there is another language, and it’s called French. It’s also called the ‚language of love‘, because it sounds softly and even as some sort of charm or magic.“ You looked to the elves.
„I think you may like it, it sounds a bit as an elvish in a way,“ You shrugged your shoulders, not wanting to offend them. They looked more interested in what you were about to play to them.
„This song is in French, but it’s a sad song. It’s also quite old, but I think it’s quite a good example, because it’s well-known, so,“ you left the sentence unfinished and played La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf, then one more modern song in French so they’d get the idea. When it ended, you’ve spoken again.
„Well, then there are much different languages. This one is Korean,“ you said and played a song, around fourty seconds.
„What were they saying? It’s all so different!“ You’ve heard Fili and smirked.
„You haven’t heard Russian, Fili.“ Kili sat closer to you, just as a puppy needy for attention.
„They are all so different!“ He threw his hands into air. You smiled.
„Oh yeah, they are. But it’s better to know at least two languages, to get higher chances of getting a job. The more languages you know, the more likely will people want you to work for them.“ Bard piped up.
„How can you learn them? Some of them sound way too difficult to learn, that Korean for example, how would you learned that?“ You looked over to your library.
„Oh well, you can go to some classes and learn the language here, or you can learn them by yourself. There are many textbooks you can use for learning grammar, and you can use books in your target language to help you to learn the vocabulary. Or you can watch movies in that language, listen to a songs, read articles instead of books, text or call with somebody who speaks that language...there are plenty of ways to do so, there is probably even more of them. Also, depends on the language and the person. Some people learn easier when they’ll learn the basic grammar first, someone needs to learn the pronounciation first, and so on.“ You finished talking and they were staring at you, surprised.
„How many languages do you know, if I may ask?“ Balin looked curiously down at you, sitting with crossed legs on the floor with Kili sitting next to you. You’ve thought about his question.
„Well, I’m fluent in two languages, and I’m learning another one. It’s a great way to relieve stress and it’s really fun thing to do, even though sometimes you have to learn to write completely different letters.“ You showed them Koren, Japanese and Russian letters, and they couldn’t believe their eyes.
A few minutes later
Fili sat down to the other side, so you were seated between them and they could look on your phone and into your book about Korea and Japan.
„How can you write that? How can you read that? It’s impossible! It all sounds the same!“ Kili and Fili cried out when Google Translate pronounciation have proved them wrong after another attempt of reading the languages.
„Every language has it’s own rhytm and you have to really listen to it, so you will recognize the words. If you don’t know the languages, it does sound close. Maybe we could try out some French and Spanish, what do you think?“ You said after seeing the elves being annoyed that they could not pronounce it, but not complaining as the dwarf brothers.
But oh boy, French and Spanish, that was another challenge. Even if not that big, but still.
„How do you do that with your mouth?!“ Kili asked you, looking as unhappy, flustrated puppy whom you took it’s ball and refused to give it back (or throw it).
„There are some rules for something called grammar and pronounciation, which you are purposely ignoring and then you complain you don’t understand how to do it!“ You said and rolled your eyes.
„You always tell me it’s wrong!“
„Because it is! You are pronouncing it wrong! It’s leviOUsa, not levioSAAA-!“ You stopped and then you started laughing. Kili furrowed his eyebrows.
„What, what are you laughing about? What is so funny? Y/N? Y/N, are you okay?!“ Kili looked at you, lying on your back on the floor, tears from laugh sparkling in your eyes.
„I sound-I sound just like a Hermione! It’s not LevioSAA-“ You started laughing again and they all looked at you worried.
„Shall we be concerned?“ Fili asked and you shook your head.
„No, no, it’s okay, I just-“ You looked at Kili and tried to not to laugh again.
„I’m okay, it’s okay.“ You breathed in and out, slowly, closing your eyes. You didn’t noticed how most of them looked at each other. As if they’d ended up with some crazy person.
You spoken.
„Okay, I think that was enough of languages for today. I know you have Khuzdul, Elvish and common language in Middle-Earth, but here is much more. Human culture in here has been developing for thounsands of years on many different places, so that’s why.“ You said and got up to your laptop to find some pictures of a certain places. They all came closer.
„Well, this is Rome, in Italy. Then, we have Paris, in France, now some Scandinavian countries. This is Stockholm, Sweden. Then, there is London, Great Britain. Now, this is Los Angeles and New York, that’s both in United States. This is in Japan and this is in Australia.“ You showed them well-known places all over the world and especially Europe, since you assumed it was the closest to Middle-Earth style of living.
After a while, you’ve decided to make some dinner. It wasn’t too much left, and you knew you’d have to go shopping soon, but you didn’t wanted to stress yourself about leaving some fictional characters alone in your house for an hour. No. You prepared a recipe and ingredients and started making dough and left them in living room with another pile of books. They especially loved classics, because they had similar language to what they were using, but they liked even more modern books. You didn’t even counted the time you were thanking yourself for collecting books and being a bookworm. And being a „public library“, as you and your friend would say.
Meanwhile, Kili looked up from his book to Fili, whom was reading one book series and seemed to like it, but now his brows was furrowed as if trying to solve some problem that came up. He quietly closed it and noticed you weren’t here with them, so he‘ve decided to find you and maybe talk with you about the book he was currently reading.
The first place, where he’ve decided to take a look to, was kitchen. He stood in the doorway, more to the side so you wouldn’t noticed him right away, but you seemed to be deeply in thought and mentally far away.
You were making a dough, with your hair up in a messy bun, your apron had quite a lot of flour on it, some flour ended up on your face and especially on your cheeks and up to elbows your hands were covered in it, even in your hair was a flour, but you didn’t seemed to mind it here. Next to you, there was a bowl of some cutted vegetables and a smaller bowl of cheese and a few eggs, some spices and herbs.
He didn’t noticed when you‘ve looked up as his memory flew back to his mother back in their old home in Middle-Earth in the kitchen cooking and his and Fili’s failed attempts they called cooking. They were much better at cooking from mud and twiggs than from real food. He imagined his mother and you in that kitchen and that you’d both tell him to get out from the kitchen and he’d sneak in afterwards to steal some piece of pie or cookies or sweet pasteries to prepare for you and him a picnic under the stars...
„Are you going to stand here and stare at me while I’m cooking?“ You placed your hands on your hips and a smile was dancing across your face. Kili’s head snapped and his cheeks blushed.
„I, uh, I wanted to talk with you about this book, I think it’s a good one.“ You came back to your dough and started working on it, again.
„Well, what books is it?“ You looked at the book he was holding.
"Oh, so The Picture of Dorian Gray. How do you like it so far?“ Kili looked at the book in his hands as if it could answer instead of him. He didn’t wanted to embarrass himself in front of you.
„Well, I...uh...it’s-it’s interesting and-“ You softly chuckled and his head snapped up.
„You can sit by the table rather than to stand in the doorway, Kee. Or you can help me out.“ You clapped your hands and big cloud of flour appeared in the air. A cheeky grin found a way to his face.
„Oh, so you would risk cooking with me, miss Y/N?“ You grinned back at him.
„Well, maybe. And still, you can sit down and talk about the book, I’ll listen to you.“ You said and a soft chuckle escaped your lips when you’ve seen how eager he was to sit near you, somebody whom was ready to listen to him.
„Tell me what you honestly think of that book, Kili. I won’t get offended or anything.“ You smiled at him and you’ve seen his eyes to shine as he spoke and when you were talking about all the characters and the storyline from different points of view, but that didn’t lasted long, because...food.
„What are you cooking?“ Kili asked curiously as he’ve checked the dough you were doing, the vegetables, spices and herbs.
„I’m baking a pie with vegetables and cheese, Kee.“ He scrunched his face and furrowed eyebrows.
„Why would you bake it with vegetables? Pies are sweet, aren’t they?“ He looked up at you with his questioning soft brown eyes and you’ve melted once again. You sighed and started explaining.
„Well, they are, but this type of pie is made with vegetables and cheese and eggs. It tastes good, I promise. It’s something like a pizza, but...well, it’s just a bit different, but good too!“ You said and he nodded, remembering that you baked a pizza a few days ago. Then he was standing next to you, looking sleepishly down at it.
„Put your hair out of the way, Kili, or they will end up in it. And that would not be good.“ You said, pulled out a hair-tie from the pocket of your apron, and created a messy bun out of his hair. You’ve realized that touching someone’s hair is (well, at least in the movies and books) intimate for dwarves, so you felt your face to heat up in embarrassement. You realized that it was probably true when Kili was suddenly stiff and his ears became red.
„Oh, I didn’t realized, I’m sorry-“ He cutted you off.
„It’s okay,“ You noticed he was sleepishly looking at you, but there was a twinkle in his eyes telling you he was not mad at you. (As if he could be possibly actually mad at somebody, you thought.) You shyly looked away.
„I, uh, wanna help me out?“ You looked down at floor, suddenly too embarrassed to look at him, so you didn’t noticed how his eyes widened in surprise.
„Y-you would let me to cook?!“ His voice came out as high-pitched and you glanced at him. His eyes were set on you, he was clearly surprised and excited.
„I will keep an eye on you, but yes, at some point I will.“ You said a bit hesitantely. He looked a bit concerned, but excitement overtook him. You handed him an apron. Yours was dark blue with little stars on it, this one was creamy with brown fabric around the edges. You helped him to put it on and stepped a bit away, hands on your hips and slightely narrowed eyes.
„Yeah, that’s good. But we need to do something with your bangs,“ You said and pulled out a few hair clips and bobby pins in more sizes from pocket of your apron. You went through them and then slightely nodded, chose a few of them and the rest gave back. You looked up to Kili.
„This will help to hold all of your hair out of your face,“ you said and he took them and suspiciously glanced at them. You sighed and rolled playfully your eyes. You took one of your pocket, took a strand of hair that escaped to your bun and inhaled.
„That’s how to do it. It’s not like it will bite you.“ You said, clasped the strand to it’s place, placing your hands on your hips and rising your eyebrow. He grinned and winked at you.
„Okay, let’s get the pie done!“ You quickly said, trying to cover your rising blush.
You broke the eggs into the bowl with vegetables and let Kili to put the herbs into it, but you added spices and heavy cream into it.
„Now, mix it-carefully, so it won’t end up on the floor and stay in the bowl-and then carefully pour it onto the dough,“ you motioned to the prepared dough on pie dish. Kili, when he calmed down (which almost didn’t happened, he seemed to be excited somebody trusted him enough to let him to kitchen to do something else than just eat, drink or sneak in for food), was a quick learner. You placed the pie to oven and let it to bake. You leaned against the counter and with a huff you wiped off your forehead.
„I think it’s time to get cleaned up,“ you sighed, your eyes falling shut. Kili nodded, but it seemed something on your face cought his attention. He came closer, he was close enough for you to see his soft gaze filled with concern and his brows slightely scrunched, him being concentrated.
„You have...a bit of flour left here...“ he said and his thumb runned across your cheek. You slighely flinched on that sudden contact. Your eyes met his and you’ve seen in his gaze he was thinking about something. His touch was sending shivers down your spine. You slightely opened your mouth, but closed it again, not wanting to ruin the moment. His eyes had a sparks in them, but he looked more nervous than cheeky and confident this time.
You couldn’t help but looked quickly on his lips and back to his eyes. It was only you two now, as if the whole world disappeared. You were holding your breath, nervous what was about to happen.
„I-,“ Kili whispered and you felt his breath on your lips. He was looking deep into your e/c eyes, thinking about how beautiful they were and how close he was. He could kiss you, your lips were just a few inches away, and he’d lie if he said he have never, at least once thought about how it would felt like to kiss you, at least once, since he met you.
„Kili, where are you?!“ You both flinched, quickly parted and looked away. You’ve heard Kili groaning as his older brother appeared in the doorway.
„You need to read this series Kee-wait-“ he slightely frowned, looking at his brother more properly.
„You were...cooking?“ You nervously smiled.
„Uhm, yeah, I was making a dinner and, uhm, Kili was helping me out,“ You said.
„Kili, you can go clean up, I will clean here a bit,“ You didn’t gave him a place for an answer when you pushed him to go to Fili. When a door fell after them, you sat down on the floor and thought about that moment you almost kissed. And then Fili came in, you thought and groaned. He was definetely keeping an eye on his brother.

Okay first and foremost: if this flag is wrong lemme know! I have been googling but obviously, it can only go so far in trustablity since pages can be boosted.Anyway, heres my crew of lesbian OCs,
realise I have very few gay men ocs bc I've been in a real drawing fems mood lately, but theres a few there
info below on the ocs
other than Lith none of these women were born on earth, or even lived on it, so they don't have the exact same gender and physical sex rules we do, so this is more the closest term that fits all of my ladies who love ladies&enbees.up in the top left we have Lottie, she's not really into sex that much, but shes all about the romance, shes a very loving person, but deeply scared from several events leaving her with intense PTSD. She's a Frenrar native would was recruited as a demon, she was much more anthro as a human, but lost some of it on the transition to demon. She starts her story being rescued, while greatful, within a few months of world trecking she realised that this isn't what she wants to do anymore, she decides to hang out at Valentino, Skye, and Pipers traveling bar, called The Turkeys Tail. There she studies endlessly to solve a few magic issues on Franrar with the help of Valentino, it takes time but she ends up being the demon to be able to break the Elders curse, in the form of cuffs binding all lower (Hokey) demons, which prevents them running of flying away. She's a pacifist & would really like if there were no wars going on, but since she can't stop them herself, she tries to do so with her experiments. She's growing a lot as i write her and get to know her which is cool, I love when you can just almost hear a character coming together in your mind. all the inspo! Sorry for the ramble! it's good to get this stuff down when I'm in brain storming mind! Across from Lottie, top right, is lith! If you've followed me for years you know lith a bit, she was once a middle aged woman from earth, she made the transition over to demon at the end of a long fight with respiritory illness. Shes very busy lady being one of the two first primary protagonists, while she has some time to adjust to demon life, it didn't come with its own issues, and she ws soon through into a resistance for a place she arrived in not that long ago, she works it out over time. She also works out her sexuality, as a human, she pretty much burried her sexuality but the freedom of a while new world, one filled with many more queer people like her, haha.below her the giant elder Galo stands, due to her bullish attitude and hard headed focus, she struggles with this and the power battles in the Demon realm, often failing to see the wider issue as rilo refocuses her everytime she get close to figuring them out. Shes a bit new so a little under developed but shes going to be apearing quite a lot at the start of the story, then return later, so I'll have some time to get to know her. that tiny lil green triclops like thing, is Shihosu, my most precious and special baby, I wanna protect her even thou i'm the one writting the conflict in her world. She actually dies before she even apears, but shes brough back by octo ( the gold and purple octomaid lady.) and this essentially makes her speicies see her as some blessed chosen one, she has a big repuatation and after seeing and hearing other members of her speices die, she goes on the hunt for octo to find out why she was chosen...she has plenty of fun nights out during  this, so she has a good life work balance.   Shihosu is checking out Elviras butt. Elvira is basically an effigy brought to life by her father Emesh, She's a romantic at heart and can't help but coo and awe at any acts of love. Her father is very over protective and it takes a long time for her to be given true free reign of her life, shes thousands of years old by that point, so she gets out and finds the area outside her home is a semi-apocolyptic waste land filled with strange speicies and creatures, she quick decides she has left because she's to help. Her father is actually aware that he was to let her go off on her own as soon as she'd ask. He was inspired to create her while tripping hard, and the voice told him how to make her, and why he should....*mystery music.*Lastly we have the aforementioned Octo, and her wife, Beefy. By the time we meet them, they've been married a few years and they are obnoxiously in love. Beefy was earth child some how snatched onto Frenrar, she doesn'y know who did it, why, or even how, even though she meets others like her over time, none of them seem to know who did this, and no one on frenrar seems to know who could even do that. She was found in a box in the woods, no older than a year, and the Fleetfoots, a rabbit like spieces with multiple varients across frenrar, the spieces are known for strength, mentally and phsyically, hardiness, and determination, which ended up feeling perfect for Beefy, until Octovar arrived, Not immediately though. Octo was there over a summer at her father request, as she had gained a reputation for making scenes at big public royal family events, so as it is so oftem the rebelious princess is sent off out of daddys way, while he does his old boring bussiness. Beefy spent a lot of her time building and training physically, and Octovar would often be around. She's very curious as someone who lives mostly in the sea, being so far from the ocean, the lifestyles felt completely alien to one another. Over time awkward stares and little comments evolved in to longing looks and full on flirting. Always very opinionated, Octovar opened up to beefy about why she was here, why she was fighting them, and why she needed to leave before her father came back to collect her, Beefy agreed and talked about a Fleetfoot called Piper who had been here, but left after a visit from a powerful mage, beefy had kept contact via letters, so was now aware, Piper was an active member of the resistance. Beefy said her goodbyes, their culture never saw one set of parents, everyone raised everyone basically, so it was scary, but the elders reccomended beefy go try it out, reminding her, her burrow will always be there for her when or if she ever comes back. While we meet them at wives I'm 100% planning a prequel comic on them from meeting each other, to when they meet lith landon and the crew.OOf woops sorry these are meant to be silly cute lil pieces but I get all focused on lore! I'm still planningon doing more even though pride is over, I'm planning on doing one with gay men, then aro/ace. I may also do one with other mspec idnetities, but I do not have many ocs in those categories, YET! I will defo have more as more characters are created, I gotta make a whole planet of people. so theres gonna be variety.I may try and put all my trans characters together for a trans flag, but i may use the art I already made of them! Happy pride Lesbains*! (*and all the groups simailir or under that lable)

Hey so as someone who isn't mena but still wants to try and draw scarabia characters/ocs, what fashion should I reference when designing outfits that are arabian inspired? I usually just reference the live action since I know the og movie was pretty racist but is there any fashion (and the name of the fashion) that is ok to based fantasy clothes off? I'm just asking cause I don't want to make a mistake making designs I'm sorry if I sound really ignorant right now qwq
If you’re talking about the live action Aladdin film I mean it’s still better-ish than the animation (from what I remember from the promotional pictures, I never watched it myself) but the costume designer was a white man ahdjdkdlslsl and POC could tell just by looking at the costumes they were not done by a brown person. But then again Aladdin is just a misappropriation of South Asian and MENA cultures sandwiched together because WHO NEEDS ACCURACY, WE ALL LOOK THE SAME AND COME FROM THE DESERT.
So I don’t claim to be an expert on MENA cultures cause I am SA, but this is what I typically do, even when looking up my own cultural clothing. Usually just starting off by familiarising yourself with the traditional garments and their terms, and sometimes anatomy, will help you. So like just by searching up “traditional middle eastern clothes” can give you pics, and usually the terms for the garments you find. Then you can research more about the garment and get extra information, usually which culture(s)/region its mostly associated with in MENA. What you’ll find in many countries is that there’s more or less a “universal” garment that everyone wears but has differences between each culture. I say this very loosely though because it’s not always the case. But most of the time we aren’t trying to be as culturally specific and accurate (unless that’s what you’re going for), and simply want inspiration with the intention of still being knowledgeable, respectful and mindful.
If you’re looking for inspo for more fantasy styles then search up middle eastern high fashion, bridal clothes, etc. You can also try searching for MENA fantasy/fictonal movies and shows, aka movies and media that are not made by white ppl or ppl who are not MENA. People from the culture are going to do it best, so taking inspo from the very people who have the better understanding is a given.
Of course I don’t expect anyone to become absolute experts on MENA cultures (I’m definitely not and am open to any advice/critique from MENA folk) and to know each and every type of traditional clothing across the regions, but if we can do in depth research about fae culture and elves and shit that don’t even exist, I’m sure we can do decent enough research about real people lol.

Hi everyone! As we mentioned a couple days ago, Lea and I thought it’d be helpful for everyone if we made an informational post about the prompts for Sledgefu Week, just in case people were either confused about the prompt itself or maybe looking for some inspo!
Here is the AU prompt list: I’ll pop it under a read-more just to save your dashboards, but do go ahead and check it out! And as always, any questions or comments you may have, our inbox is always open :~)
PIRATE AU
Pretty self-explanatory, and a really popular suggestion on the google form that came before the poll, so I’ll assume most of you have a pretty good idea of what makes a pirate AU! This is a fun prompt to pair up with other ‘ocean’ themed prompts, I’m thinking of sirens, mermaids, sea monsters, however many tentacles you want to introduce into this thing. I think Pirate AU can encompass all of those, plus all the various different degrees of piracy that can be had, ranging from the big bad Captain Hook style of piracy down to something a little more Treasure Planet... the AU doesn’t stipulate anywhere that it has to be on land/water after all ;~) My favourite childhood pirates were the sky pirates from the Edge Chronicles series! Really, the only limit with this prompt is your own imagination, feel free to push the envelope!
SOUTHERN GOTHIC
This is one that I’ve seen a few people be curious about, and honestly as was I! Maybe if you’re American you may have a better understanding of what makes a Southern Gothic story different from a conventional (European) Gothic novel, but I know a lot of people here aren’t American, including myself and Lea, so! I did a little research (but if any of this doesn’t quite ring true to what Southern Gothic is, don’t hesitate to correct me! There’s only so much the internet can tell me haha). It’s my understanding that where Euro Gothic is more heavily rooted in the fantastic, Southern Gothic tends towards magical realism instead. It’s more heavily entrenched into the culture of the South than Euro Gothic is necessarily about European culture. Its essentially preoccupied with examining the values of the American south, so it’s important to exercise some sensitivity and care with some of the themes which can come up when looking at the history of the south; namely racism, and slavery -- for obvious reasons. There are plenty other ways to approach Southern Gothic without making comment on these aspects of the genre if you aren’t appropriately knowledgeable about them... the genre stems from European Gothic after all, which means that although it is focused on the south, it is also characterised by explorations of madness, fear of the outside world, decay and despair, the impact of the past on the present, and events stemming from or relating to poverty, crime, alienation, or violence. It has an absolute wealth of generic characteristics that, once combined with the magical realism that is unique to Southern Gothic, can be really fun to play with. Think Wuthering Heights, you know?
VAMPIRE AU
Another pretty classic one, and an AU that I think warrants very little explanation. I think the fun in Vampire AUs is in making it new -- there are SO many various vampire stories out there, what do you want to do with yours? Draw from popular culture, draw from history, draw from your own imagination... just as with the pirate AU, there’s really no limit to where you can take this prompt. Imagine the impact of an all-vampire company in a canonverse story! Or how would a newly-turned vampire navigate his new condition in the modern world? Plus, the whole immortality thing really lends itself to some great slow burn opportunities here. Or, hey, Twilight AU?
PARANORMAL AU
Okay, so: I know now that this looks similar to our Supernatural AU from last year, at a glance. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like they’re two very distinct prompts! It’s always been my understanding that supernatural is monsters: werewolves, witches, etc. whereas paranormal means ghosts, and aliens? Either way, if you already have an idea planned for this that tends towards the werewolf rather than the ghost, don’t worry about it. However this is the time where the angst can come in... I feel like The Pacific is kind of a perfect piece of source material to base a ghostfic on -- not to be morbid but well, you know. And of course, it isn’t limited to one of the characters being a ghost -- as I said, my understanding of ‘paranormal’ always encompassed ghosts, but also aliens, and cryptozoology. Now, wouldn’t Eugene being so interested in birds translate nicely into cryptozoology? Wouldn’t Snafu, being the paranoid legend that he is, quite possibly be into weird internet forums about aliens? You can interpret the prompt as loosely or as closely as you like :~)
COFFEE SHOP AU
I feel like I don’t need to explain this. Do I? Are coffee shop AUs still as popular as they used to be? The real challenge of a coffee shop AU is actually this: how will you make the employee of the coffee shop feel anything less than distain for the customer that is the would-be love interest? Fellow customer service workers know exactly what I mean. (But for real, this can be a fun prompt despite how oftentimes overworked it can seem, and that’s because it leaves a lot of room for creativity. Is your character a poet doing a reading at a local coffee house, catching the eye of the person in the audience? Are they a musician, a stressed-out student, a caffeine-hater who is gritting their teeth after every sip just for a chance to speak to the cute barista? There’s tons of options, and I’m excited to see where people go with it.)
GHIBLI AU
So this is quite simply an opportunity to write an AU for any Ghibli movie of your choice! It’s actually my prompt (I was super happy to see it make it up there in the polls!) so I can explain why it’s nice and vague :~) I didn’t like the thought of having to limit every single person who wanted to contribute to the ship week to a specific AU for a specific Ghibli movie: they have such a huge catalogue of movies, and everyone seems to have their own particular favourite! So basically, you have the freedom to pick from any movie made by Ghibli to turn into an AU here. And these AUs can be as close to the source or as far away from it as you like. Want to write Gene and Snaf as background characters ordering bread from Kiki? You got it. Want to have them fighting in the war that features in Howl’s Moving Castle? Your mind. It’s completely up to you! And if you’re not familiar with Ghibli movies, you’re gonna have a great time if you do decide to watch a couple :~) They’re all on Netflix in the UK, but can’t speak for other countries sadly.
ENEMIES TO LOVERS
A time-honoured classic. Who hasn’t read an enemies to lovers AU? If you haven’t, and you’re unfamiliar with the concept, it’s pretty self explanatory! It’s pretty much about two characters who have an oftentimes very long history of conflict with each other, (though the ‘long’ part doesn’t really matter much) that eventually resolves into, well, love! The enemy relationship gets swapped for a romantic relationship. I always associate this prompt with slow burn fic too -- it’s always so good if it’s a gradual descent into affection. Now, this is a very broad prompt, which means it can be applied really nicely on top of other AUs! Just glancing at the list here, you wanna write a centuries long Vampire AU where they start out enemies and become lovers? Go for it!! It’s easily one that can be made unique and really fun by applying it to other AUs if you want to. I always think of Spy AUs or things within that genre too!
MYTH AU
This is another pretty broad one that I think covers a lot of bases, simply because there are SO many myths out there lol. If your culture has specific myths, this’d be a really nice time to get creative with them and also let people learn a little more about myths they might not know! There’s also obviously a ton of myths centralised around the American south so that would be fitting for both characters, but don’t be afraid to branch out! Really, you can apply this to any kind of folklore you want, and it’d be perfect! Obviously Greek myths are super popular and always cool too -- imagine an Achilles/Patroclus AU! But I think what makes this prompt really nice is tha it leaves you some room to actually have a go at making your own mythic tale up. So fall back on the real myths that kinda build up our world, but if you’re feeling really creative, take a stab at crafting your own!

Lee’s Writing Tips #1
Hi! To those of you who don’t know my blog or simply don’t know me, i’m Lee, your friendly writer next door with a constant creeping terror of not getting her writings perfect every time.
Today i bring you some of the writing tips i’ve picked up writing from my experience.
English is not my native language, but i have been introduced to it when i was 3 by a relative who gradually taught me English alongside my native language, therefore i do make mistakes and sometimes i happen to fall in the traps of multiple language errors so please be patient with me. I started my writing journey when i was 10, being attracted by short flash fiction English texts in class which lead to me writing a lotta stuff, and here i am 18 and still not entirely proud of my writing skill. Also feel free to suggest me more things and let me know what you think!
BUT HEY we all learn so today i’ll give you some of my tips into:
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT 101
I will add some of my favorite links at the end of this post so you can check them out but my best advice, and the first one, is to simply pile up on resources on your own. Don’t just expect information to come at you. You have this huge platform called Google which will introduce you to the magical world of research.
*They=official pronoun accepted when we’re talking about no specific gender of a being,as in he/her or anything in between
Before beginning these steps I will assume you have already picked the most basic things about your character such as : gender, race etc.
First things first: Let’s pretend your character has been just created into a very empty world, like you’re playing some kind of creator game and you shape your own beings after yourself. Make sure that you first pick a purpose for your character. What should they be like? Are they a bright, cheerful person with a bubbly personality and joyous laughter who always know how to make people smile? Or are they rather a social introvert, with a mysterious aura engulfed within a severe persona? It is all up to you what you choose. Just think up of a few basic personality types and pick one for your character. Let us pretend this drawing is your current character:
Tumblr media
So they are a very basic shape, no colors, no personality, nothing that will identify them. Well it’s all up to you after you have picked your personality to fiill it in. This will consist of 100% of their base. Let us pretend mine will be a Friendly character. I will fill them in with pink:
Tumblr media
-Secondly, after you picked out the full coverage of your char you will have to create a mindmap or whatever lets you keep track of things, of their main traits. This means you will have to do some research on what traits belong to which personality. I will leave that up to you.I have picked out a few for my character: Peaceful, Friendly, Calm, Helpful, Joyous, Childish. Keep in mind that these will mean probably the next 70% of their personality, although you do not have to restrict yourself to one type only. Not all personalities are the same and one person can be both extremely shy but also outgoing among friends. They can be super friendly but also very grumpy under certain circumstances and so on. You have to be creative, and this is the keyword here. Do not stick with one persona only.Make sure you give your character BOTH good AND bad traits. They have to balance themselves. Think of as many as possible. For example my character will be clumsy, shy, supportive and understanding.
I gave a bit more colour to my human, according to what i thought would match their shaping personality.
Tumblr media
-After figuring out all of these things i suggest making a list of all the personality tests and things that can help you study more about your character. MBTI test, Zodiacs in multiple cultures, enneagram types, mental illnesses, disorders, the temper, their harry potter house if you want too, generally whatever test will determine their personality. Once you do as many of these in their boots, gather the results and google them all: research is extremely important again, this will help you define what your character’s personality truly is, and you will be able to nitpick from these results whatever you like/dislike and shape your character. These  will help you find results on who they are and then yo're able to read more stereotypes/characterisations of that personality.
I’m gonna pick some random results as an example for you: My character is a gemini and a rising scorpio with an INTP mbti, phlegmatic temper, enneagram type 3.
-After reaching this point it should be really easy to have a main idea of the personality. What i would do after is start shaping them with different hobbies, passions, activities that tell you what they like or dislike doing. Develop minor things like the way they talk, act, react, write, how they walk or what facial expressions they give in : all of these sound easy to do but if you do your research properly you'll be able to develop a very well shaped character. A lot of the things listed tell a bunch about a person. If you dont believe me just do your research. You will know what i’m talking about after that.
-Go in depth: get a character sheet and gather as many questions as you can. Answer them all, find all the small and big things about them: why they don’t like coffee, what planet they are from, when do they go to bed, what do they have in their pockets, do they love their mom? These will add all the fine details you need to outline minor things about your character.
-Background: backstory, relationships, family, interaction with other beings and their surroundings: CRUCIAL elements which define who your character is. Remember when a baby is born it will grow up and be educated according to the place it grows in. All of the items listed above influence their behaviour, temper, reactions, personality etc. A very well defined background will tell other people who your character is, without having to know them well.
-Their name. To you a name may not mean too much, but i am DESPERATE about names. Names to me are everything about a character. Keywords, acronyms, puns and wordplay will always be present in my characters’ lives, and why not pick it up yourself as well? Search for names, save them in a list, take time to pick a name for your characters as if they were your children.
-MOST IMPORTANTLY: DO YOUR RESEARCH. I cannot stress this enough. People simply do not research. They think that cresting a character is fun and then abandon them after a week and complain they are boring. That’s because you don’t put effort into them. Look at yourself first: how old are you? How many years did it take you to get where you are now? If you look back one year ago will you realize you’ve changed? If so then think about how your character has shaped with time. If you give them a certain age to start off with, who were they until that point in time?were they different from who they are now? Do not simply create a character just to slap them into a world and leave them die. No human being stagnates in the same state for their whole life, without changing at least one thing about themselves. So do not expect your character to transform radically every day. It takes time, just like it would take you to do it.
-Research their race/nationality. If it hasn’t hit you until now, every country in this world has different people and mostly they have “stereotypical” things about these nations. We’re not talking about stupid things like germans drink beer and americans don’t like sport, no. Those are simply stupid things made up by people. I’m talking about their cultural traits. It really gets on my nerves when people slap on a nationality on a character without doing the littlest bit of research beforehand. Look up into the culture of that nationality: what are they like? what is their religion/belief? How do they interact with others? Minor things like these are often seen unimportant but trust me they matter.
-Make your character interesting and relatable. If the reader does not engage or emphasize with the character in any way it will simply make them not find that character interesting enough to be cared about. What makes them special? What makes them relevant? What do they have in common with other people or characters? What are their morals, beliefs? What makes them good/bad?
-My BEST BEST BEST tip is to STUDY!!STUDY!!STUDY!! If you don’t do your research before creating a character then it’s pointless. You cannot simply KNOW stuff without STUDYING it at least somehow. Be it as simple as how being a vegan would influence your character’s lifestyle to how their actions could turn the entire world upside down. It doesn’t matter. If you’re unsure on a matter, and even if you know it decently well, make sure you do your research properly before assigning them a trait,a lifestyle, a belief or anything else.
-Don\t play God. Don’t make your character unkillable, without weaknesses or weak points or flaws or simply overpowered. Doesn’t matter if they’re superhuman or not. If your character lacks flaws then it’s simply a pointless superhero prototype. There’s no reason to have your character be the god in their universe and make everything really boring. Think very well about what makes them weak, what are their low points?
-Keep references close, save up all the stuff you can, bookmark websites and resources, make your own masterposts. Get an inspo blog and look up everything you need when you lack the motivation to shape your character. If you leave them like that, without drawing inspiration from the real world you won’t get far with them. You will lose motivation and won’t be able to develop them anymore.
Some REALLY helpful websites, but again, personal preference and it’s up to you to gather more ;)

Godddd I'm so conflicted about featuring elements like clothing or tattoos that are clearly part of a certain culture. I try to be respectful and always make it clear from where I got the inspiration but I'm still not really sure if its cultural appropriation or not??? I've been stuck in the far left internet bubble and sometimes I feel like I shouldnt draw anything involving other cultures besides my own but I'm a history and culture nerd and want to represent as many people as possible since the mainstream media is often not doing that, on the other hand I'm just a privileged white girl and I have to admit that I keep my research for clothing and other inspo very surface level (bc I dont have that much time)

If you’ve ever sent a text to a roommate because it felt more natural than walking to the next room and actually communicating with them in person, you’ve experienced a glimpse into the creative life of Superorganism.
Finding each other on the internet through music forums and YouTube suggestions, the whole band moved into a London house where they create eccentric collages of indie pop together. Before the move, though, their earliest songs were created over Skype calls, Facebook chats, and email file transfers—an internet-based method that continues even now that they live under the same roof.
“The thing is, we still work online,” 18-year-old lead singer Orono Noguchi says. “We’ve started to try collaborating in the same room, being physically there together. But for the most part, we just work on our own demos in our own rooms, then we send them to each other.”
Referring to themselves as a “DIY pop production house,” Superorganism’s eight members sought each other out from far-reaching places like Japan, South Korea, Australia, England, and New Zealand. “At school, I couldn’t really find anyone who was on a similar creative wavelength as I was,” Orono explains. But when she finally met people online who shared her same tastes and do-it-yourself spirit, she says, “It seemed natural to join powers and make something awesome.”
Our full interview with Orono Noguchi is below, in which she discusses her early years writing fan fiction, the inspiring nature of YouTubers, life on the road with an eight-member band, and more.
I was listening to Ezra Koenig’s Beats 1 show last year, and heard him talking about your old fan fiction on air. What inspired your Vampire Weekend fan fiction phase as a 12-year-old?
I was borderline stalking them, I’d say. [Laughs]. I fell in love with their music and their art and I kind of joined an online community of other kids my age that were equally obsessed with them. I don’t know, I just felt like I wanted to create something and that creation was writing fan fiction. I combined everything that I was obsessed with at the time into one piece of fan fiction. So that’s why Ezra was dating Katy Perry and there were YouTubers thrown into the mix. MGMT was in there as well. [Editor’s note: See some of Orono’s fan fiction brought to life here].
Was writing always a hobby for you when you were growing up?
I wouldn’t call it a hobby but English class was definitely one of my favorite classes. It’s always been one of my best subjects since I was a little kid. It felt natural to do that.
I don’t really take anything seriously, including myself. Nor do I really want to be taken seriously, either. I’m not trying to make a statement or anything.
The absurdity of those fan fictions carries over to the humor in your lyrics now. Lots of your songs are about how crazy and weird the world is. Why do you like writing like that?
I think it stems from the fact that I don’t really take anything seriously, including myself. Nor do I really want to be taken seriously, either. I’m not trying to make a statement or anything. So I guess that’s why I jump around from talking about one thing to another. It turns from seeming kind of serious for a second, to jumping back and being wacky and weird. That’s just a reflection of not only me, but the whole band’s personality.
What kind of things were you into back when you were writing those fan fictions?
I was into YouTube, big time. Katy Perry. There were fandoms that I was in, but I wasn’t in one specific fandom. I was just kind of all over the place. I followed random tags on Tumblr and saved every single photo that I found. I was actually obsessed with Grimes at that time as well. Just all sorts of stuff. All internet stuff I’d say.
You originally found some of the other Superorganism members through YouTube, right?
Yeah, back in the day that song “Somebody That I Used to Know” was a big hit. Kimbra was a feature on that song so I started listening to a lot of Kimbra’s music and she’s from New Zealand. I thought she was cool and I think that got the YouTube algorithm into recommending me lots of New Zealand indie stuff. There’s a viral video for a song called “The Cigarette Duet” by Princess Chelsea from New Zealand. I thought that was cool, then YouTube started recommending me other New Zealand indie stuff, which included some of the Superorganism members and their band projects.
We’re eight different people from different countries and backgrounds. The primary way that we communicate with each other and work is through the internet, so it makes sense to make a collage-like piece of art.
So it sounds like the band had been slowly forming for years, but it finally took shape as Superorganism when you joined?
Yeah, pretty much. We didn’t see Superorganism happening. None of us saw it coming. We were just like, “Hey, cool, we’re talented fun people, let’s get together and make some cool music.” That just came about through random chats on Facebook.
Bands used to form because all the members happened to live in the same town or they were classmates or something. But you guys were able to seek each other out and be more choosy on the internet. What attracted you to each other?
I’d say a good taste in music brought us together. But also the fact that some of us experienced being an outsider and being kind of isolated in a way. I had a weird situation where I was living in a small town in Japan, but I went to a school that was an hour away in an even smaller town. So I didn’t really have close friends in my neighborhood. Emily lived in Australia and moved to New Zealand. Harry lived in the UK, then moved to New Zealand. So having that experience as a kid warps your perspective in a way and I think that’s what we have in common.
I know you all come from very do-it-yourself backgrounds. Lots of DIY artists end up working in solitude and making music in their bedrooms. What made you guys want to do that in a group setting?
It just made sense, I guess. We kind of do things on the fly. We don’t get our own individual egos in the way of the creative process. So when it came to actually making art and trying to make the best kind of art that we can, it seemed natural to join powers and make something awesome.
Before joining Superorganism, did you plan on being a solo artist or did you always want to be in a group?
I was kind of open to anything. But at the time, at school, I couldn’t really find anyone who was on a similar creative wavelength as I was. That sounds fuckin’ stupid, I’m aware of that. But at the time, I was just working on stuff by myself.
After you met online, you guys all moved in together in a big house in London. Was it weird going from making songs over email and Skype to living together and doing that in person?
The thing is, we still work online for the most part. Even living together wasn’t that weird because we’re all pretty chill and none of us are really crazy OCD drama queens or whatever. So that works in our favor. It wasn’t that awkward, to be honest.
When you say you’re still working online, does that mean you’re all in different rooms of the house working on your own pieces, then you send it to each other?
Pretty much. We’ve started to try collaborating in the same room, being physically there together. But for the most part, we just work on our own demos in our own rooms, then we send them to each other.
How do you guys split up songmaking duties?
It’s quite freestyle, I’d say. None of us have dedicated parts or anything, because we’re all multi-instrumentalists. We can just do whatever. Also, if you have Logic, you don’t really need to play instruments.
Image via Jordan Hughes
Why do you guys prefer making music at the house instead of a studio?
We’re comfortable in that situation. Also, it saves money. We can do it at home. We’ve always done it at home. So why go to a studio and pay fuckin’ thousands of dollars for nothing, pretty much? We have it at home.
Lots of your songs take shape like collages. There are a bunch of weird samples, sound effects, vocals, and instruments. Where does that style come from?
We’re eight different people from different countries and backgrounds. The primary way that we communicate with each other and work is through the internet, so it makes sense to make a collage-like piece of art.
Where do you guys find those samples and recordings?
It’s a good mix of everything. Sometimes we use field recordings. Sometimes we use royalty free sound effects websites. And sometimes we’re looking for specific audio clips, so we look for that on YouTube. It’s a little bit of everything.
We have a collaborative Spotify playlist and it has 500 songs or so at this point. It’s a mix of everything from Ariana Grande to weird experimental shit.
Your music has all these weird things going on, but it’s also really accessible and pop-friendly. What draws you to weird pop music like that?
It comes back to a lot of us having an outsider perspective. But then again, pop culture is so great because no matter how indie or hipster you are, you have a certain connection with pop culture. I think that’s the most fascinating and best part about it. Just the word “pop” binds us together, but we’re also outsiders. So I guess it makes sense for us to combine the best of both worlds and make that sort of music.
What do you guys usually end up listening to?
We have a collaborative Spotify playlist and it has 500 songs or so at this point. It’s a mix of everything from Ariana Grande to weird experimental shit.
What are your non-musical influences?
I think most of my influences are non-musical. I do have an inspo playlist on Spotify, but lately I’ve been obsessing over RuPaul. It’s the most fascinating thing ever—the world of drag queens. Not to make a pun here, but it’s a different world. It’s like a different organism of its own. I’ve never dabbled in it, so it’s been very inspiring to me, watching the show. And RuPaul’s music is fucking amazing and his podcast is so great. I just have so much respect for that guy.
Lots of young artists today make an effort to share everything about themselves on social media, but you seem to be more reserved. Why do you think that is?
Social media is weird and it’s fucked up. Especially for insecure teenagers, like myself. It definitely provides a good ego boost at times, but other times it’s just people shitting on your art for no reason, just because they’re also insecure about their lives. Sometimes I think, “Oh, that would be cool to post on the internet.” And then I’m like, “Oh wait, there’s no point in me doing that.”
But then again, there are so many YouTubers and quote “social media influencers” that all these 10-year-olds follow today. They inspire those kids and make them feel less shitty. They give the kids someone to relate to in a really intense way, because they provide so much of what’s going on in their lives, so publicly. I think there’s a certain beauty to that. I understand them because I’ve definitely felt that, watching lots of YouTubers’ videos about going through really shitty times and depression and all of that.
Hopefully there’s a healthy mix. I think it’s important to try and utilize social media in the most efficient way possible without hurting anyone’s feelings. I know that’s really hard but that’s why I try and stay away from it. I’m not too active on social media because it makes me feel like shit. But then again, it kind of makes me feel good. It’s confusing.
It doesn’t look like it’s turned you into divas or anything, but I’m sure the success has changed some things for you guys. What’s different now as opposed to before you put out “Something For Your M.I.N.D.”?
I think our whole lives have turned upside-down. I think I’ve become a diva in a way, actually. When we started off touring and doing all these interviews and stuff, I was so conscious of how I was being perceived by other people. I was like, “I’m so lucky to be in this position. I don’t want to seem like an ungrateful little bitch.” So I was trying too hard to be like, “This is so great and fun.” But the reality is, touring is the most stressful thing. It’s one of the craziest things that a human being can do, in my opinion. You get up at like three in the morning. Then you do all these interviews. Then you play a show at like midnight. Then you go back and do the same thing over and over again. For a whole summer you do that. Then you go on tour in the States and all these places. It’s so intense and hectic.
I feel like it’s unrealistic to be like, “I’m fine! We’re Superorganism—just a fun, quirky, internet band!” I think that’s bullshit. So here I am, being like, I’m stressed out right now! I’m tired. I barely got any sleep, so I’m telling you about it. I think that’s definitely changed. I think it’s also changed how we make music because we barely spend any time at home anymore. We’re on the road constantly. That makes it hard to make music, because we make music at home where we’re comfortable. Touring is definitely not that comfortable. So we’re trying to figure out a way to make that work. We’re not quite there yet, but we’re still working on stuff, which is good. It’s definitely changed our lives, though, in such a great way that it’s hard to explain. It’s a lot to handle.
With all the touring, are you thinking about new music yet? You don’t have to give away too much, but what’s next?
Yeah. All the complaining I did just now started because we have a passion for making art and making music. That still applies, thankfully. We are working on stuff and we have been working on stuff this whole time. When we finished the record last August, we actually ended up with way too many songs. Domino was basically like, “Hey, you guys are a new band. Maybe let’s cut it down a bit so it’s more palatable for a wider audience.” That totally made sense and I think it made for a better record. So that was a good call. But we have a bunch of stuff laying around. Hopefully we can release it as soon as possible. Take a break from touring and work on more stuff. Collaborating with other people, too. That’s up in the air.

IKEA catalog 2018: A nod to hacking?
I’ve received my copy of the IKEA Catalog 2018 (thanks @IKEAMalaysia!) and thought I’d post a quick review — a first look, if you may. The first thing that struck me — IKEA the company, the big blue and yellow, has full-on embraced hacking. In previous catalogs, they may have snuck in a few hacks here and there. But here and now, they are unabashedly professing their love for hacking. In buckets. Shouting from the rooftops kind of thing.
Right there on page 29, it declares, “You’re unique – and your IKEA can be too” and goes on to provide instructions for a number of hacks. A few ways of personalising the IVAR, a tiled LACK side table and a LACK wall shelf decorated with tape. Niceeee!
A few pages later, the catalog features a room makeover by Maryam Mahdavi, a haute couture designer, turning an old Copenhagen apartment into a glamorous space. Ms. Mahdavi punctuates her design with luxurious hacks — transforming doll houses with generous amounts of gold and high gloss spray paint, recovering lamp shades with luxe fabrics, creating an indulgent boudoir with SANELA curtains and a children’s bed canopy. The modern day Marie Antoinette would feel right at home.
And of course, the DELAKTIG sofa, an ambitious collaboration with Tom Dixon to create the world’s first hackable sofa. “This is how it works:” it says in the write-up, “the platform is built in a way so that you, or anyone, can easily personalise the product by adding a headboard, a pillow, a lamp or maybe table that turns it into a workstation. Accessories and add-ons will also be available at IKEA, as well as in Tom Dixon’s stores.” Truth be told, I’m really watching the DELAKTIG and I can’t wait to see the add-ons and accessories that will result from this. This is right up our alley, folks.
The other thing that thrills me is how IKEA is working with other design companies. Like HAY. This makes me love IKEA even more, as they again demonstrate their genuine desire to democratise design, share knowledge and information. They become better at what they do by way of learning from others. And vice versa, I believe. The dynamic duo behind HAY has already given a new spin on the infamous IKEA blue bag (which I love. It’s way better than this). The YPPERLIG range looks promising — especially the sofa-bed — and I look forward to seeing it in person. October, come faster.
And with that, it concludes my first impressions. I’ll be writing a bit more on the catalog as I dive into the details. But for now, I must say the new IKEA catalog is brimming with inspo. And it’s making want to run out and get some new stuff, especially the cute range of accessories like the MYRHEDEN frame. *heart*
As always, the catalog does a fantastic job of showcasing the latest and best from IKEA. Not only that, each page draws you in to a vision of how you can use your space to live the life you want. I like the ideas on multi-tasking spaces, carving out niches for the people in your life and things that you love to do. So far so good.
The IKEA Catalog 2018 will be in Malaysian stores from Sept 18 onwards. Check out the online version here (US version here).
And while I was still trying to get through the entire catalog, the amazing Yanjaa has taken it to a whole new level. She memorised the entire catalog. Yes, memorised every-single-detail. She is the living breathing human catalog. Just give me 1% of her memory power …
Born in Mongolia, raised in Sweden, educated in Kenya and now living in Texas, she’s as culturally versatile as IKEA’s furniture. At just 23, Yanjaa is currently the highest-ranked female memory world champion.
Check her in action here. Prepare to pick your jaw up from the floor.
What’s your take on the IKEA catalog 2018? Let me know in the comments below.
This post is in collaboration with IKEA Malaysia. But opinions are entirely my own.
