2022 kdrama/movie roundup!
It was a tough year for keeping up with anything because life, toddler, etc, but here are the things I watched, in part or whole, that I remembered. Hot Takes Incoming!
Sell Your Haunted House - Jang Nara in boots. Kang Mal-geum in dark lipstick. Touching, gay, many mother issues. The girls were fantastic. The boys weren't bad.
25 21 - I was dropped back into the 90s. Surprisingly, I didn't hate it. The girls were fantastic. Na Hee-do was correct to dump Baek Yi-jin. Moon Ji-woong, perfect boy. Ji Seung-wan for PRESIDENT!
Why Her? - Someone thought it'd be a great idea to throw Seo Hyun-jin's ex-client (shudder) current-student (TRIPLE SHUDDER) Hwang In-yeop into the romance mix when billionaire CHOI YOUNG-JOON and Crown Prince Bae In-hyuk were already there. And they thought it'd be funny if Hwang In-yeop won. NO.
Eve - The superior commentary this year on the horrors of capitalism. It ends with reparations (Park Byung-eun hands over his entire empire to Seo Yeji, who promptly divests it), rich people dying in horrible ways and Seo Yeji doing the tango. Were the makjang knobs dialled up so high they're broken? Yes. Was it fun? YES, because I got to see Park Byung-eun's range, which includes Pained Hottie, and Seo Yeji running men's feet over in cars wearing couture. We can ask for no more.
Juvenile Justice - No one asked "What happens if we take three of the most charismatic working actors in Korean entertainment today and squeezed the life out of them?" But someone answered anyway.
My Liberation Notes - Lee El, a revelation. Mr Gu, a revelation when he started talking, and not the good kind.
Grid - Kim Mu-yeol. Kim Ah-joong and Jang So-yeon had a great year. I didn't understand the time thing at all. This is a me problem, but probably the only time I'll face it this year. Right? RIGHT?
Bloody Heart - Jang Hyuk has done nothing wrong, ever. The girls were fantastic. Lee Joon, I heard your script was meant for Lee Joon-hyuk. Sorry.
Pachinko - The girls were fantastic. Kim Min-ha, baby, you're gorgeous. JUNG EUN-CHAE was everything. Sorry to Lee Min-ho, who had the tough double role of acting as Ko Hansu and also like he belonged to this cast of greats.
Our Blues - Great acting, but my own blues were sufficient for me. The girls were fantastic. Unwanted to wanted pregnancy storyline: no thanks. This is a me problem, but probably the only time I'll face it this year. Right? RIGHT?
Extraordinary Attorney Woo - 75% love; 25% NOT THIS AGAIN.
Little Women - The girls were fantastic. I ran out of air by this point in the year. I'll come back for you, gothic interior design, poison orchids, and Song Joong-ki in the best role he's played all year!
Through the Darkness - Almost too many twirling moustache psychos and dead girls. I did it for Kim Nam-gil because he's so pretty in this and in case it wasn't abundantly clear by now, I don't think with my brain. The lone living girl - Kim So-jin - was fantastic. Jin Seon-kyu, well-adjusted stealth hottie!
Reborn Rich - Samsung owes Lee Sung-min its entire semiconductor business as @rain-hat said. Lee Sung-min owes me reparations for making me watch this show for him primarily (secondarily Park Hyuk-kwon, Kim Shin-rok, Park Ji-hyun and Kim Nam-hee for their acting; Kim Young-jae because he is THE DILF). I'm manifesting NO TIMESLIPS in 2023 dramas.
Under the Queen's Umbrella - Kim Hye-soo pushing up her hanbok sleeves to carry babies and do embroidery should be projected onto my tombstone unto eternity. The girls were fantastic. And I know this is unusual, so bear with me, but: the boys? FANTASTIC ALSO.
Movies:
Vikram - Fahaadh Faasil, my thoughts are nasty and you don't want to hear them. The girls might have been fantastic had they been permitted to live and not be dumdums. That was never going to happen, of course. There was torture and a baby in significant peril, but it was also the most fun I'd had in a while. I should get my head checked.
Ponniyin Selvan - The sheer scale of work and sweat that has gone into the enterprise of making Vikram seem taller than Trisha Krishnan for the last twenty years! Iconic. The girls were fantastic.
The Naked Kitchen - This is sold as a story of a woman choosing between two men. That is a lie. It's about a man coming to terms with his marriage drifting into polyamory, and enjoying it. Shin Min-ah and Ju Ji-hoon fuck in a museum, which was also weirdly sweet.
Asura City of Madness - AHJUSSHIS WHY. Hwang Jung-min's shirttails worked very hard in 2012. Jung Woo-sung ate glass and has pathological issues about being as handsome as he is. We love him for it. We did not love this.
Hunt - Love is your bestie learning how to write and direct just to write and direct you in the role of a lifetime for you, personally. I don't know if that's what happened here, but that's what love is. And chemistry is whatever these two guys have in this completely ordinary movie that did not give any feelings. Hwang Jung-min, pussy OUT.
Decision to Leave - A well-deserved love letter to Tang Wei, just beautifully shot, gorgeous.
Il Mare - Absolutely lovely little film, reliant almost entirely on the star power of two actors who are so charismatic they don't need to meet in the movie to convince you of their romance.
Laal Singh Chaddha - There was a very beautiful wedding at the end. Aamir Khan's face must hurt.
Darlings - A movie that appreciated and respected noted hottie Shefali Shah.

Emu x Nene x Tsukasa x Rui (interpret as you wish)
Lers: Emu, Nene
Lees: Rui, Tsukasa
Warnings: Tickles!
___________________________________________
Nene could feel her patience running very thin, and it was all thanks to the weirdo wombo combo. Rui and Tsukasa had been bickering all day over the most irrelevant and silliest things and it was driving poor Nene insane.
"Can't you two keep it down over there?!" Said Nene annoyedly. The two boys stopped their argument and looked at her for a moment, before going right back to whatever they were talking about this time. Nene sighed in defeat, those two could be quite a pain at times. Desperate times call for desperate measures, Nene thought, but she was going to need some help.
She got up from her seat and went over to where Emu was. Nene explained the situation and whispered her plan to the pink girl. Emu quickly agreed, eager to cause some mischief.
Emu then got up and charged straight towards Tsukasa, tackling him onto the bed as she yelled out 'Wondahoi!'.
"ACK-! Emu, what are you dohoHOING?!" Tsukasa couldn't help the surprised cackle that escaped him as he felt a funny feeling along his ribcage. He tried to squirm away but Emu had him pinned, and the tickling certainly wasn't helping. "Ehemu stahap thahahat!".
"Wow! Tsukasa is soo ticklish! Tickle tickle tickle~!" Emu teased as Tsukasa squealed and cackled underneath her, trying to swat her hands away from his tickle spots.
Rui couldn't help but feel amused at the scene happening next to him. But he didn't notice the pair of hands that sneaked behind him and tazed his sides.
"GyaHA-!" He quickly turned around only to be confronted by Nene, who looked like she was out for blood (in this case laughter).
"Don't think you're getting out of this" Said Nene as she descended her hands onto the purple guy's hips, squeezing and scribbling at the ticklish hipbone.
"AAAAH! WAHAHAIT! NEHEHENE! IM SAHAHARREEE!" Rui jumped like 10 feet in the air and fell back onto the bed, laughing his pretty head off.
"I bet you are now, I hope you learned your lesson" Nene kept on tormenting the tickle spot as Rui curled up into a ball and held onto her wrists weakly. On the other side, Emu decided to experiment on Tsukasa's tummy.
"Hey Tsukasa, is your tummy ticklish?" Asked the pink haired girl intrigued as she poked it repeatedly.
"AHAHA! EEP-! Y-YEHES IT'S VEHEHERY TICKLISH! NOW STAHAHAP!" Tsukasa threw his head back in laughter as she kept on poking that dreaded spot. His cheeks were super red from this embarrassing yet fun situation.
"Ohhhhh, what about here?? Pokey poke poke~" Emu teased as she started poking the troupe leader's sides up and down.
"EHEHEHE! I-IHIT TICKLES! STAHAHAHAP!" Tsukasa pointed out the obvious as he covered his flustered face with his hands. Emu kept on with her poke attack on his tummy and sides, enjoying all the fun noises the blonde was producing at each poke.
Going back to the purple guy, Nene was currently tickling all over his sides and tummy, causing Rui to cackle like a madman.
"AHAHAHAHAHA! N-NEHENE PLEHEHEASE!" Rui was such a blushy and giggly mess. The tickling caused him to lose all his strenght so he just layed there and took it like a champ.
"Please what? Please tickle you more??" Nene chuckled as Rui shook his head and squealed at the tease. She then proceeded to jam her fingers into his armpits, tormenting the sensitive skin.
"GYAHH!!! NAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!" Poor Rui couldn't even talk anymore from how much it tickled, only sweet, uncontrollable laughter would pour out his lips. He just clamped his arms down and rolled around hoping to get away not really, but of course Nene wouldn't allow that.
Going back to Tsukasa, Emu had gotten the bright idea of lifting up his shirt and tickling his bare tummy, sending the blonde into hysterics.
"GAHAHAHAHAHA! N-NO MOHOHORE!" Tsukasa's laugh had gotten pretty wheezy, it was quite funny to witness. But Nene could tell that he was reaching his limits, Rui falling not so far behind.
"Hey Emu, I think this is a good place to stop" Nene halted her fingers that were tormenting Rui's armpits, causing said boy to lay limp and quickly catch his breath as stray giggles came out of him.
"Aww...but he's so much fun to tickle~!" Emu said enthusiastically as she teasingly circled her finger around his navel. Poor Tsukasa squealed and tried sucking in his overly ticklish tummy. "You can torture him some more later, for now they both need a break".
"Okay!" Emu finally stopped her tickle attack as she got off Tsukasa. The troupe leader was still giggling like a madman at the ghost tickles. "Thahat was mehehean...!".
"Sorry if I took it too far..." Tsukasa could feel his heart shatter at the sight of Emu's saddened expression. "Well...it wasn't THAT bad".
"Does that mean I can tickle you again?!" Emu quickly went back to her overly energetic self. "Ugh...fine, but later, okay??".
"Yayyyy!" Emu cheered as she tackled him into a hug. "AHH! Y-you really need to stop doing that...".
"Now...I trust that the two of you will behave yourselves??" Nene asked, seeming like a scolding parent. Rui and Tsukasa quickly nodded their heads. Even if they had the guts to defy her, they were both completely drained out from the tickles, opting to doze off for now. Who knows what other shennanigans they'll annoy Nene with later on...

There was once a shepherd boy. One day the boy told a lie. “Wolf! A wolf is here!” The adults of the town were fooled by the boy’s lie and brought weapons but there was no wolf. The boy repeated the same lie, 2 to 3 times more. “A wolf! A wolf is here!” And when a wolf really did come, no one, believed the boy.

When the wolf appeared, the boy regretted it the most. Because the boy never knew that a wolf would really appear.

Soul marks were a fickle thing. They could be as obvious as having their name on your wrist or as confusing as switching eye color, seriously, do you know how many people have brown eyes?
*not proofread

Warnings: fingering, inexperienced!reader
idol!female!reader, soulmate au
Being in one of the biggest girl groups was hard: constant pressure to look a certain way, always having to be seen as happy, and being basically forbidden from dating, even if they're your soulmate. You were under constant scrutiny from the public but making music and seeing your fans made things somewhat better.
Your group, Girl SZN, consisted of you and two other girls, Kim Ha Eun and Hwang Sun Hee. Ha Eun was the oldest at 23, then Sun Hee at 21, and finally you at 19. You debuted 2 years ago and became friends almost instantly, not really seeing your job as an actual job, but more so something you did as fun together.
One fun thing you got to do was go on variety shows, where you seemed to shine the most. This time it was for The Boss Is Watching where groups were brought together to see who had the best idol group according to categories made by random bosses.
The first competition was stamina. The boy's wrestling match seemed to go by quickly, a newer group by the name of Seventeen winning. Then, it was the girl's turn. When it came to choosing who would wrestle for your group, the decision was easy.
One thing that set you apart from other groups was that your boss encouraged healthy living and wanted you all to have strength to keep up with your choreos. This led to you being a sort of exercise-aholic and even regularly posted your work outs on social media as a way to show that not all female idols had to have a slim physique to succeed in the kpop world. Your fans seemed to really appreciate it, and it was something you loved to do.
The first two matches were between Twice and Lovelyz and then Gfriend and CLC. Finally, it was time to face off with LABOUM's Yulhee.
"Now, Y/N, when everyone was asked who they least wanted to go against, Girl SZN was mentioned multiple times. Why is that?" Lee Soo Geun asked you. "I think it's because I post a lot of work out videos," you say honestly into the mic and could see Yulhee nod in agreement out of the corner of your eye. "So do you think this will be an easy match?" He asked again. "I will do my best to make my boss and members proud," you answered, avoiding the question. It seemed to do the job as you and Yulhee were soon pressed together and waiting for the signal to start.
A little bell was heard and you both started pushing against each other. Yulhee's strength was good, but her inexperienced foot work made it easy to swipe her feet and pin her down. You could hear Ha Eun and Sun Hee cheer as you both bowed to each other and ended with a hug. "Wow, seems like Y/N is the one to beat so far," Yoon Bora congratulated you.
The rest of the matches went well, up until you had to do 3 matches in a row, but you still came out victoriously. One downfall though was now your foot had a searing pain in it. Because you only had three members you had to compete in other competitions with your bad foot, but you didn't want to let the other members down. "Who's that from Seventeen? He's limping on his right foot?" Ha Eun asked. You weren't very familiar with them, so all you did was shrug. "Don't you and your soulmate share pain, Y/N? What if he's your soulmate?" Sun Hee teased you. After getting a good look at him you decided that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
You wiped the thought from your mind and watched them do the one-legged fight. It wasn't until you saw the same guy take a plummet and a sharp pain shoot through your back that you gave some thought to him being your soulmate. "Oh my god," you whispered to your members. "I think he is." This was no time for celebration but Ha Eun and Sun Hee excitedly shook you.
"Only one way to know," Sun Hee said and she gave your arm a sharp pinch. The pinch surprised you, but you watched the mystery man's reaction and saw him bring his hand up to his arm to rub the same spot you were just pinched. "It's him."
It seemed like eternity for the games to be over, but once they announced the winners and cut the cameras, Ha Eun and Sun Hee dragged you over to the large group of boys and found the man who was your soulmate. They all but pushed you into him before standing back and watching.
"Hi, I'm Y/N," you stuck you hand out for him. He seemed a little confused but shook it. "I'm Jun," he said. Without missing a beat, you boldly stated, "I think you're my soulmate." The shock on his face told you that he hadn't put two and two together.
You brought your hand back to your body and gave your wrist a hard pinch, enough for it to sting. His hand recoiled in pain before staring at you in awe.
"I'm not supposed to be with my soulmate," he said cautiously, but it didn't defer you. "Me neither," you said with a smile.
|||
You and Jun were something else when you were together, which wasn't a lot. On days that you both happen to have no schedules you would often go to his dorms since you couldn't be seen in public together. You had both told your bosses and with a lot of convincing from even the other members, they allowed you to see each other in secret.
When your comeback came around and you did more variety shows, fans could notice that you seemed more chipper than usual, but you brushed it off as being excited to do more shows. You and Jun were in a good place, he would come to you whenever he was missing home and tell you about his childhood and you would help him with his Korean and give him suggestions on dates you two should go on, even though you both knew you couldn't. He introduced you to Chinese food that you didn't know existed and you would share different drama recommendations.
Anyone who saw you two could tell that you were both madly in love.
One day your schedules somehow overlapped, and both of your groups were brought onto the variety show, Weekly Idol. "You guys love them and so do we, please welcome Girl SZN and Seventeen!" Jeong Hyung Don introduced. You, Ha Eun, and Sun Hee came out first and gave the camera a little wave before standing next to Hyung Don and Dae Joon. Then the boys came in in a big group and stood beside you all.
The show was pretty standard. You were all asked about your upcoming comebacks, each gave a little performance, and played games which included your embarrassing facts. About two hours later you were finally sent backstage to get ready to go home.
Ha Eun and Sun Hee decided to go straight home and so it was just you in the dressing room. You were in the middle of taking off your shirt when the door burst open. You let out a little cry, but relaxed when you saw it was just Jun. He locked the door behind him and made his way to you, grabbing your face and bringing it to his.
Kissing Jun was anything but ordinary, except this one was different. It was rough and passionate and something you had never experienced before. "Is it true what they said?" He asked as you pulled apart. "You've never dated anyone?" He cocked his eyebrow. "I wanted to wait for my soulmate. I can't help that I'm a hopeless romantic," you said sarcastically.
"I think it's cute. I get to be your first, for everything." The way he said the last line made your head fuzzy. His lips were back on yours in an instant and his hands found their way to your waist. His lips soon left yours and moved down to your neck where he gave a little nip.
His hands couldn't stay still. One wound up in your hair and the other fiddled with your waistband before slipping in. He didn't move it anymore, instead brought his face back to yours and asked, "Are you okay with this?" All you could do was give a breathless nod before pulling him into another kiss. His hand in your pants started moving in little circles around your clit which made you involuntarily buck your hips. This was the first time someone was you touching like this, and it felt addicting.
He stopped rubbing your clit for a second, opting to run his fingers through your folds before slowly inserting a finger in you. The gasp you let out made him quicken his pace and place his thumb back on your clit to continue the circles. That mixed with him moving his lips onto your neck and his other hand on your breast made your abdomen heat up. It felt like rubber band that was being pulled to hard, before it finally snapped, Jun's name rolling off your tongue along with a mess of moans.
His fingers slowed down, working you through your orgasm before finally halting and pulling them out of you. What you didn't expect though, was for him to put his fingers in his mouth to clean them. "You taste so good, sweetie," he whispered, barely loud enough for you to hear.
Now that you had come down from your high you noticed the tent in his pants, more prominent than ever. You moved to undo his buttons, but his hands stopped you. "If I get my dick out, we're having sex, and I don't want the first time to be in some dingy dressing room," he laughed.
"How romantic," you replied with a roll of your eyes. With one final kiss he slipped back into the hallway to let you finish getting ready to go home. Looking in the mirror, you noticed how the smile never left your face while you got ready. Hell, Jun always managed to keep you smiling.

❀ NCT 127's 5th anniversary isn't a day to celebrate and be happy for everyone
Tumblr media
To Doyoung:
“Happy 5th anniversary oppa!”
“I hope you and the boys are having a great time <3”
JiHo stared at her phone intently waiting for the “sent” at the bottom of her screen to turn into “read”. She had been staring at her phone like that for nearly an hour, yet nothing changed. The girl knew that the boys were busy, but somewhere she hoped that she’d hear from them. Besides the short “wished you could be with us” message she had received the evening before from Taeyong she hadn’t heard from anyone else. Of course JiHo was aware that the boys were busy, but was it a crime to feel left out and maybe want a phone call or something more than a “wished you could be with us” from anyone?
And so JiHo continued to stare at her phone, everything on the small screen getting progressively more blurry as time went on. Her eyes were straining, one almost pressed shut, the other slowly going cross-side. Her right hand, which wasn’t holding the phone, reached out to the glass bottle on her desk. A quick shake letting her know it was empty. So she reached for the other one, opening it skilfully with one hand – like she did with the other two bottles now empty on her desk – and bringing it up to her lips. “Must be nice hm~ Being an idol or whatever…”
“I’m glad you came over.” Sihyun, JiHo’s Esteem manager that lives with her, said as she grabbed the boy’s coat off his shoulders. The piece of clothing, along with his hair, slightly damp caused by the light drizzle outside. “JiHo’s been a bit sensitive and doesn’t let me in her room. She doesn’t want to talk to me at all.” Jaemin watched the woman’s face full of worry. He gave her a small reassuring smile and then glanced at the door leading to JiHo’s room. “I’ll try to talk to her.” Thanking Jaemin, Sihyun then excused herself, telling him she had to run some late night errands.
Not knowing what was happening behind the closed door of the bedroom, Jaemin knocked a few times. “Unnie~ Just leave me- leave me alone.” JiHo hiccupped between her words, her speech sounding a bit slurred. She had been drinking? JiHo?
Without a second thought Jaemin pushed the door open. A jumbled mess of protests escaped JiHo’s lips, but she froze in her chair as soon as her eyes locked with Jaemin. “What… are you doing here?” She muttered to the best of her abilities. “Coming to check up on you.” He neared the girl and poked at the bottles and the mess on her desk. “Clearly you need it.” His tone sounded very much disappointed and for a split second JiHo felt her heart ache, but she quickly turned defensive. “I do not!”
A sigh escaped deep from Jaemin’s chest and he pulled JiHo to sit on the edge of her bed next to him. “Since when do you drink?” It was quiet for a bit. JiHo looked at the bottle of the alcoholic beverage in her hand, swirling it around by circling her wrist and then started to giggle to herself. “A new hobby?” She turned to Jaemin, a big smile on her lips – however Jaemin could see the sadness behind it easily. “It’s fun. Feeling… Nothing! I can barely feel my… my lips.” Her body swayed from side to side prompting Jaemin to grab her by her shoulders and hold her in place. “It’s fun until you wake up with a hangover tomorrow.” He scoffed. “Can’t get a hangover if I don’t sleep.” She said, before turning to her desk. She then pointed at the box of another 9 bottles of alcohol next to it on the floor. “Or if I don’t stop drinking.” She grinned.
“Yah! What’s wrong with you?” Jaemin’s patience ran dry quickly. He just felt so furious seeing how badly JiHo was treating her own body. She never drank and now she was planning to drink 12 bottles of alcohol? Drinking herself straight into the hospital, and if it weren’t for Jaemin being here, maybe straight into her own grave. “This is strong alcohol! For all I know you can’t even handle it, so what made you decide to drink now huh?” He yelled, anger only rising watching the girl just stare at him with wide, innocent eyes.
Those same eyes turned to look at her laptop, located on the desk she sat at earlier. The NCT 127 online fanmeeting being streamed, muted.
Of course Jaemin knew it was NCT 127’s 5th anniversary, he knew it must’ve affected JiHo in some way, even if she kept insisting she was going to be fine and was happy for the boys. She even said that she wasn’t “part of the group since debut, so it wouldn’t even be my 5th anniversary” and everyone just had to nod and smile.
“Is that a reason to potentially drink yourself to death?” Jaemin poked her side – maybe a bit too harsh – to gain her attention again; she seemed to be zoning out every few seconds. “What else was I supposed to do? I’m tired of keeping things in.” She sneered at him and it was almost as if she didn’t drink anything. She sounded much more coherent than just a minute earlier. “Aren’t you doing just that though? Drinking on your own. Not letting Sihyun noona in? We keep telling you to talk to us, yet all you do is keep things in. The hyungs even took you out to do stuff and get your mind off things yet you get home and do the thing you always do.”
JiHo felt every drop of alcohol leave her system as she heard the somewhat condescending tone in her friend’s voice. “What the fuck? So this is my fault-“ “Kinda, yes! You just sit here feeling sorry for yourself while everyone is worried over you! We’re your friends for a reason JiHo. There are so many people who care for you, just start fucking talking when you feel down like this.”
The blood inside of JiHo’s veins started to boil and at the same time she felt tears pricking behind her eyes. “You think it’s that easy? What am I supposed to say? That I feel upset that I can’t be with 127 now? Okay. Then what about it? Me telling you this won’t change shit!” “At least you should stop lying and stop telling everyone you’re fine when you’re not! Why do you continue keeping things a secret from everyone?” Both JiHo and Jaemin’s chest rose and fell at a rapid pace. “But I guess you’re good at that anyway.” He added in a mumble.
Once the words registered in JiHo’s mind, the bottle that started to hover towards her lips was quickly forgotten. “What do you mean by that?” Jaemin just shrugged his shoulders and turned his gaze away from JiHo. “Jaemin? What do-“ “You were supposed to debut in 2016 with NCT U?” JiHo’s eyes widened and she pushed herself to stand up. “How’d you know-“ “Then they asked you to debut in 127? Also with us… In Dream?” “How do you know?” Was the only thing JiHo could say.
“Does it matter?” Jaemin yelled, standing up as well. “Why do you continue to keep secrets from us? Do you not trust us? Is that why you sit here alone? Drinking and crying alone.” The boy watched as JiHo stood in front of him wordlessly. He could see how his words were affecting her, but he wanted to be selfish for once. He wanted to let JiHo know how frustrating things were for him and his friends. He was well aware of how JiHo had her own worries and hardships, but if she never wanted to confide in anyone, then he was allowed to be mad right?
The only sound filling the room was both of their ragged breathing and the occasional shift from one foot to the other. The silence was almost deafening, a ringing shooting up JiHo’s clouded mind making her feel like she was going to lose it any second now. Her friend sending hurtful glares her way didn’t help ease the growing pain either.
“You’re right. I could’ve debuted in 2016, what about it?” JiHo whispered, afraid that her talking too loud would send surges of pain into her brain. “Why did you hide it from us? Why didn’t you say yes back then?” Jaemin interrogated her. “There was no reason to tell you if it didn’t happen. I didn’t debut so telling you I could’ve wouldn’t change a thing. I’m not in Dream, I didn’t debut in U and clearly now, I’m not in 127 either. Jaemin… It doesn’t matter anymore…” JiHo’s voice stayed as calm as possible.
“How long have you known Jaemin?” JiHo spoke up again as Jaemin didn’t say anything. She felt the tension grow exponentially, the pressure on her body and more noticeably her head increasing and bothering her more as well. “I heard it during that last meeting you had with Yebin noona and Mister Lee Soo Man…” JiHo let out a small chuckle, shaking her head in disbelief. “I guess we’re eavesdropping and keeping secrets from me as well.”
She brought the glass bottle still in her hands to her lips, throwing her head back, to down as much of the liquid as possible. Before she could finish it all in one go, Jaemin gripped the bottle and pulled it away from her. “It’s not the same, JiHo!”
The liquid rushed from between JiHo’s lips, making a wet patch on her grey sweatpants. She could feel her throat and lungs burning as she coughed, caused by the alcohol going down her windpipe instead.
Jaemin watched her with concern painting his features, his hand slowly caressing her back hoping it would ease her violent coughs. “I’m sorry. Are you okay?” He whispered and JiHo gave him a small nod as her body calmed down.
The two 00 liners stayed like that for a while, with Jaemin’s eyes burning at the back of JiHo’s downturned head. Even after JiHo’s body stopped shaking violently, Jaemin’s concern continued to grow. It was only when he noticed the drops, which only could be tears, fall onto her sweatpants and create even more wet spots, that he decided to step in.
Jaemin’s hand securely gripped JiHo’s shoulder and he pulled her up to face him. A gasp left the boy’s mouth as he watched large tears spill from his friend’s eyes. “Ji…” It proved incredibly difficult to speak when he was faced with a situation he wasn’t ready to deal with. Maybe Jaemin shouldn’t have confronted her the way he did. Maybe acting like everything was fine wouldn’t have caused him to witness JiHo at possibly the worst she has felt.
It became a full minute of Jaemin staring into JiHo’s pain- and tear-filled eyes, feeling like he could drown in them himself, before a loud pained sob brought him to reality. The sudden jolt of JiHo’s body forward made Jaemin act quickly and pulled the girl into his chest. His hand, just as quickly, found its way into JiHo’s slightly tangled hair.
“I’m… sor- so sorry.” JiHo sobbed into his chest, tears soaking through even the thicker material of the boy’s jumper. Jaemin could feel his sweater start to stick against his chest, yet what felt more uncomfortable than the damp piece of clothing was the feeling of JiHo’s body shaking in his hold.
As best as he could, Jaemin tried to soothe JiHo. Almost like taking care of a crying toddler, he swayed the girl from side to side. His lips were pressed against the shell of JiHo’s ear as Jaemin whispered affirmations into her skin. “Don’t apologise... Stop apologising.”
“I’m only bringing the team down-” “Shh JiHo. Stop that.” He told her, as his fingers continued to comb through her hair, slowly and carefully detangling it along the way. JiHo pressed her eyes tighter as even more tears spilled from her cheeks and pushed herself closer into Jaemin’s grasp.
Mouth agape, a sob that was building up in his own chest was threatening to fall from Jaemin’s own lips. “You don’t deserve any of this JiHo, you only deserve the best.” JiHo only shook her head, but didn’t dare to speak again. “You do... You really do.”
The night in the capital of South-Korea was never really that dark. Lights always seemed to find their way past the pulled back blinds of any building that wasn’t directly blocked by another one due to bad city planning. So even during the darkest time of day, even when all the lights inside have been dimmed, somehow, it was still light enough to see inside.
So when Jaemin pulled back to look at JiHo’s face, her eyes still tightly pressed shut - which pained him immensely - Jaemin could see the light reflecting off of her wet cheeks.
Feeling two hands being placed on her burning cheeks, JiHo finally decided to open her eyes again. A few more tears rolled over her cheeks onto Jaemin’s thumbs, but luckily no new ones seemed to form. “I’m sorry for everything, all this drama. It’s my fault.” Jaemin shook his head and pulled the girl back, this time to hide his own tears that were starting to form. “Please stop apologising, it’s not your fault.”
“But-” JiHo sighed, her arms found their way around Jaemin’s small waist. “I hate that it’s always about me. I don’t want to be this cliche ‘emotional girl with so many problems and everyone has to pay attention to her problems’. I don’t want that. I don’t want to burden you guys with that, but I also don’t want that kind of attention. I know people already hate me for being in a boy’s group. I don’t want my stupid problems to be the only thing that people assiociate me with NCT.”
“Your problems are not stupid JiHo. And though I understand what you’re saying, I think it’s worse to keep it in. If anything, keeping it in just makes us worry about you more and may get you more attention. JiHo I know things suck right now, and I can’t imagine how you’re feeling with everything going on right now, but… Please just talk to us when things are bothering you. We all love you.”
At those last words JiHo loudly sniffled back some stray tears. She pressed herself into Jaemin’s warm embrace and softly nodded her head. “From now on I will. I promise. And…” JiHo looked up at Jaemin, sending him a small smile that he gratefully reciprocated. “I love you guys too. You’re all I have here and that’s enough to make me stay.”
Jaemin’s hand resumed with his previous ministrations. A deep sigh left his lips as he rested his head atop of JiHo’s. “Everything will be just fine.” Jaemin pressed a kiss against JiHo’s hair. “As long as we stay together everything will be just fine.”

here’s a list of the best, mediocre and worst kdramas i watched in 2020
no one asked for this but it’s happening because i have thoughts (also all opinions are my own if you disagree then get well soon i guess... no i’m kidding make your own posts about it don’t hate me please) ahsjsj anyways click to read a lengthy post and if you actually read the whole thing then thank you i hope you enjoy this wild ride!
THE BEST KDRAMAS -
mystic pop up bar - this show had everything i ask from a kdrama literally i can name it all found family (to real family), well thought out characters, a mystery plot, special effects, soft romances that were well written, a happy ending! no show in 2020 even comes close to how good this one was! the writers literally guided you throughout the whole thing so you could come up with theories and didn’t do a ‘aha! gotcha’ thing where they want to prove the audience wrong but they wanted us to be right and satisfied! the worst part about the drama is that it’s still so underrated and people just brush it off as some random fantasy show but it’s so much more than that! 1000/10
flower of evil - who doesn’t want to see lee joon gi being the son of a serial killer, living with the name of a man who is in a coma, and hiding his real identity from his wife who is a detective? this show constantly had me at the edge of my seat on a weekly basis so the emotions i went through while watching this are unparalleled! the writers also did such a good job on writing a coherent story that made sense and tied up all the plot points in the end. just a really satisfying show to watch! 10/10
where your eyes linger - i literally bought a $8 viki pass to watch this show so it should tell you everything you need to know about how i feel ahsjsj the episodes were 10 minutes long but we got a good story with well written characters who got character development in a total of 80 minutes it’s insane! honestly it’s still hard to believe this show had rookie actors because they were just so emotive that you could feel all the happiness, sadness, yearning and pining! probably one of my fave kdramas this year because of the acting that i always constantly rewatch! would recommend 10/10
crash landing on you - okay so this drama was actually released on my birthday last year and it was a time in my life when i was going through a lot so maybe it’s the comfort this show provided me through that time this is why i have such a soft spot for it? like the romance was good, it was funny, there was found family, the nk soldiers were all softies, there were strong female leads, soft male leads!!! ahh!! no other show on this list made me think about the unification of south korea and north korea irl because i wanted se ri and jeong hyeok to be together 4ever! but the only issue i had with this show was the ending they gave seung jun if they didn’t do that i’d give this show a 10/10 but just for that they get a 9/10
psycho but it’s okay - this was one of those shows where you’re literally like ‘wow everyone here needs therapy’ but this show was amazing i loved the story telling and how each episode related to children’s book/fairytales! the writers also did a good job with how carefully they talked about mental health in depth without villainising their characters but actually tried to make the audience understand why they were this way which included all the side characters too who had a well thought out story in each episode! also the dynamic between moon young, kang tae and sang tae was everything to me the actors all did an amazing job portraying their characters, it truly was a healing drama. the only thing i didn’t like about this show was the whole plastic surgery plot with the mother like that was very far fetched but it provided drama so i’ll let it slide because the rest was amazing. this show is a solid 8.5/10
18 again - another underrated gem! who would’ve thought a remake of that zac efron movie could be this good!! lee do hyun stole this show for sure the way he portrayed his character and gave heart eyes to his kids (when he’s only 25 irl was the best thing i saw this year ahsjs) i loved the family dynamics in this show, i loved how it talked about what it’s like to be young parents and how society still think it’s taboo to be divorced! it’s a show that makes you laugh and cry at the same time and that’s why everyone should watch it! however, the biggest clown thing this show did to me though was that i got sls for the first time while watching a kdrama... hwang in yeop if u’re reading this i love u and u deserved better 🤡 that aside this show was a 8/10
itaewon class - i actually didn’t watch this drama as it was airing because i thought i wouldn’t enjoy the plot but when i watched it i binged the whole thing in 2 days and my biggest regret is i didn’t watch it sooner! everyone knows i have a soft spot for park seo joon since he’s my favourite actor i’ve literally watched all his dramas like he could star in the trashiest drama out there and i’d still watch it and be like wow (looking at she was pretty 👀) this show aside from the acting had one of the best revenge plots in a kdrama! just watching a character realistically hustle his way to reach the top while fighting the corrupt man whose son killed his father was so so satisfying to watch! however, the love triangle in this show was questionable idk what they were trying to do with that but it personally annoyed me! but still i’ll give this show a 7.5/10 because i enjoyed it a lot!
do you like brahms? - kim min jae and park eun bin.. that’s all you need to know about why this is a good kdrama! i’m usually not a big fan of melodramas and everyone knows i prefer rom coms but this show was just so perfectly melo that i loved all the angst and pain we got!! also just watching two introverted people awkwardly fall in love was amazing! the characters story arcs were also handled pretty well with song ah finally learning to speak up for herself and joon young learning to express how he truly feels! but... the love square? was probably the most annoying thing the rest in my opinion was nicely done! i know people had mixed feelings about the ending but i loved that after all the pain joon young and song ah went through they got a happy ending together! 7/10
find me in your memory - okay this show started off very slow and it was confusing at the start but as it progressed everything in the plot started to fall into place! i mean this show really took opposites attract to a new level where the male lead could remember every single detail from his life but the female lead had to forget some of her traumatic memories to help her cope with her life! they were also tied together through a mutual character who was a big part of their lives in a different way! just an interesting melodrama with interesting characters i liked it! and moon ga young... i love you queen!!! 7/10
THE MEDIOCRE KDRAMAS -
more than friends - was the storytelling in this show groundbreaking? no. was the acting decent? yes. also probably the main reason i stuck with this show until the end! i think we can all agree lee soo had the best character development on this show he started off as a bad boy who wore one ear stud to actually becoming a well liked character... who else did it like him? no one. also the chemistry between the mains was 🔥 but the second male lead was so annoying is there a opposite word for second lead syndrome because i had that for sure! i think the best part about this show was the people i watched it with on here... shoutout to the five of us ahsjsj also this show introduced me to a talented actor/singer like ong seong wu (y’all know my kpop knowledge is nonexistent so no i didn’t know he was in a band called wanna one) all in all a predictable show but i had fun watching it so 6.5/10
tale of the nine tailed - i didn’t actually watch this show i watched it through gifs and instagram posts ahsjsjs so am i qualified to talk about my opinion definitely no... will I talk about it anyways yes lmao. lee rang deserved better that’s all goodbye and take care. 5.5/10
start up - probably one of the most awaited opinions. y’all thought this would be in the worst kdramas section but i decided to give this show some rights. the show started off strong, lost it’s way after episode 6 and then the last episode gave me what i wanted so i have mixed feelings. the writing was not the best i think we can all agree, love triangle as a plot device? wow so groundbreaking 🤡 the characters on the other hand... i loved every single one of them i mean ship wars? i don’t know her. the show had a lot of potential that was wasted but we also got some cute moments between the characters so there was really no winning or losing with this show? but in all honesty you can’t put a talented cast together like this and then just decide to give the audience a mediocre plot but the writers did exactly that! i think i can redirect y’all to my ‘crimes this show committed’ post for a in-depth analysis. lastly nam do san was a GOOD and REFRESHING male lead and ji pyeong was also a GOOD and FUN second male lead!!! this show gave me the ugliest ship war ever that i was transported back to my high school tvd days so thank you for that!! but the cast was loveable and all had a lot of chemistry together so here’s a 5/10 maybe that's too generous but... i think the reason why i didn't enjoy watching this show as much was definitely because of the tag on here lmao
THE WORST KDRAMAS -
the king eternal monarch - i miss clowning this show so much. the amount of braincells i lost while trying to understand this plot... i should be compensated by the writers. however, woo do hwan was a treat to look at on a weekly basis... however the writers kept decreasing his screen time even though he had a dual role... make it make sense? and i cannot comment on the plot of this show because i still don’t understand anything? also in my opinion tae eul and lee gon were the most bland couple of 2020, there was no chemistry between them and there was just a random kiss in episode 5 and they randomly said i love you... where was the development? also lee gon was soooo boring and such a one dimensional male lead! literally all the side characters were so much more interesting and the cast was good... but this plot. 2/10
do do sol sol la la sol - i wanna fight the writer who decided that the plot twist on the show would be that jun is a minor? i had no expectations from this show but it looked cute and nonsensical but that plot twist made me run the other way so fast that i never looked back! just because jun is a boy they really thought this would be excused like lmao we all have critical thinking skills???? the clown behaviour. a solid 1/10
record of youth - i hate this show so much. imagine not utilising park so dam who just starred in the biggest oscar winning movie to her full potential. imagine just making her a love interest to park bo gum’s character in the year 2020. i watched it up until episode 6 and i kept waiting for her character to get development... but it never happened so i dropped this show. also this show featured the MOST useless love triangle i have ever seen in my life like what was the point? also park bo gum’s characters family was straight up annoying (minus the grandpa) but they got so much screen time like that should’ve been given to park so dam... also villainising a gay side character for no reason at all in the year 2020? this show was a waste of my time i want the 6 hours i spent watching this back. -100/10
backstreet rookie - i watched one episode of this and literally wanted to rip my eyeballs out of my head. idk what ji chang wook was thinking when he signed this drama i think he lost his ability to read because that's the only reasonable explanation for why he chose to star in such a dumpster fire show! this show had a racist character... had a high schooler kiss an adult... sexist jokes... just the worst things you can think of in a drama... this show had it. i still can’t believe so many people watched this show to the point where it had better ratings than pbio... really made me question everyone’s taste? but sorry can’t relate my taste is excellent so here’s the rating this show actually deserves -1000/10
if you made it this far... thank you for reading. let’s continue to love some kdramas together and get clowned by others in 2021! looking forward to it 😅

Are smutty Drabble requests ok? Bc I would like to hear more about Yoongis kink 👀 so maybe a Drabble about the night/day/time he actually got her pregnant?
⤑ impreg dialogue credit goes to @taetaewonderland, go check out her work, she’s soo talented!
“do you know what day it is?” yoongi grins, sliding up to where you lay with your back against the headboard. quickly racking your brain, you try to think up a set of plans or events that you had overlooked... something that he might've mentioned earlier in the week and had slipped out due to your busy lives.
nothing. “thrusday?” you try. dark eyes rolling as he reaches his hand down to rummage through his pockets, pulling his phone from it. “you're ovulating,” his grin only widens as he shows you the pink app he had downloaded onto his phone. cycle carefully tracked and at the tip of his fingers after you were growing tired of him constantly asking you to check.
it all clicks at once, his grinning suggestion at the breakfast table for hyunki to spend the day with jimin instead of hanging out at home. plans for the two of them to go shopping and eat together and whatever else that would have hyunki out of the house for the entire day.
he's looping his fingers into the waistband of your shorts, eyes flickering down to watch the bit of skin his fingers reveal. “wanna make a baby?” one grip about how unromantic that was, is pulling a laugh from his lips. nevertheless, you're shimmying out of your shorts as his soft lips place wet kisses against your lips.
not even bothering to fully undress, you're still wearing his shirt and his jeans are only pushed down enough so he's able to pull his cock out. hard, as if he has been thinking about this all day. pressed against his hipbone, the tip flushed pink taunting you. eyes zeroed in on your glistening folds, fingers reaching out to run against your slit.
yoongi fucks his fingers into slowly, thumb stroking your clit slowly. soft moans fall from your lips, body moving in sync with his fingers. he's got one hand on you, focused on loosening you up for his cock while his free hand pumps over his cock. squeezing out a dribble of precum as your moans grow louder.
“fuck,” he breathes as he slips his cock past your folds, grin growing at the sound of the soft whine that falls from your lips at the feeling of being so full of him. he draws back, an experimental thrust that has his eyes rolling. “you feel so good wrapped around me,” voice a little bit above a whine.
large hands wrap around your calves, pulling them up toward his chest, your ankles hanging over his shoulders. and he scoots so his cock is nudging deeper inside of you. “read somewhere... chances of you getting pregnant... double in this position,” he speaks between groans that punctuate his thrusts.
your core is fluttering at the thought, how badly he wanted to make a baby with you. he had done so much reading, from the foods you should eat to how your sleep cycle could affect your chances. every day was filled with a new tidbit that he found, groceries constantly being bought with something new for you to try.
something about that was more than attractive, definitely had the power in turning you on.
soon enough, he's falling into a steady pace. hips snapping against yours as he holds your legs against his chest. your body shifting higher up on the bed with each one of his thrusts, until your head is tapping against the headboard. the pleasure is mixing with the slight pain, a pang of arousal has your walls clenching around him.
“fuck, you want it so bad, huh? can feel your pussy trying to milk me. gonna fill you up with all my babies, don't worry.” he gasps at the end of his words, the grip on your legs tightening as the movement of his hips start to stutter.
had held back from fucking you when your period had started this month, wanting to fill you with as much cum as possible to heighten the chances of you getting pregnant. because of the lack of regular sex, like honestly, it went from every night to... days of nothing, he was more sensitive than usual.
already close to filling you up. a frantic hand moves down between your legs, rubbing fast circles into your clit. the pressure making your hips lift off of the bed, eyes fluttering as your lunged toward your release. yoongi knows your body so well so it doesn't take long before you're falling apart underneath him, wanton moans filling the room as your hips move to ride out the orgasm.
he's not far behind you, thrusts much deeper nose the tip of his cock brushing against your cervix. “fuck, baby!” he gasps, pinning his hips against yours as thick spurts of cum spills from the tip of his cock coating your walls. “look at you, taking my cum so deep baby. gonna fuck all my babies into you.” he groans, the flow feels never-ending as his hips shift into a slow roll.
“can't wait to see you all swollen and big with my baby. you want to have all my babies, right?” he doesn't need the reassurance but loves to hear it. so it's no surprise the twitch of his cock when you're agreeing, pace in his thrusts growing harder as the last bits of his cum fills you.
so full that his thick seed is dribbling down out the sides of your entrance, sliding down the ridges of his shaft. yoongi is moving fast, cock slipping from inside of you. he uses the head of it to push his cum back in, eyes focused on the cream threatening to leak from your core.
“love you, baby,” he mumbles through a smile, lips finding yours in a gentle kiss. you're kissing him back quickly, fingers tangling in his hair as your mouth moves over his slowly. “tip your head over the edge,” his words are muffled due to the press of your lips, but his arms are moving you so it doesn't matter.
head tipped over the edge and legs lifted into the air. “just gotta let gravity do its thing.” you're bursting out a laugh and he's grinning down at you, arms wrapped around your knees, holding your legs to his chest. “i love you. can't wait to have all your babies,” he's beaming at that, cheeks darkening in the adorable way it does when he's flustered.
he doesn't say anything, just continues holding your legs up against him, looking at you like you're the love of his life. and that's good because he's the love of yours.

My 2020 in K dramas (+1 J drama)
I began watching k-dramas in 2018 but I’ve never watched as many shows, Korean or otherwise, as I have in this one. 2020 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I think what helps me really enjoy this over Bollywood+Malayalam+ American pop culture I grew up with is that a smirk on the wrong character’s face doesn’t make me seethe with rage and want to burn everything down. It’s not like growing up with SRK on screen and then having SRK wannabes leave you with lifelong trauma in reality. I can just move on. It’s removed enough from my everyday life but still familiar in a generic Asian family way. Does that make sense? It’s not perfect and it’s not free of its own harmful stereotypes and narratives, but there’s enough of the good stuff to make you stick around. This year I fell in love with Nana, Kim Hye Soo, Han Yeri, Park Eun bin, Ahn Eun jin, Kim Bum, Kim Yong ji, Flower Boy’s Go Dok Mi and Search:WWW’s Bae Tami. Cancelled Ji Chang wook (bye). Desperately missed Kim Jae Wook. Had thoughts on Hwang In Yeop, which were mostly heart eyes. Discovered J dramas and fell in love with Cherry Magic’s Adachi.
My year-in-review below:
LOVED
Into The Ring - I am so glad I saved this for a rainy day because it’s exactly the kind of upright citizen shenanigans my unemployed ass needed at the end of the year.
Goo Se Ra thinks the govt should work for the people but that doesn’t mean her own moral compass always points north. Her purpose is to make steady money, and I love seeing her go hard to survive and cobble together what she needs. The thing that really works for me is that she wants to be good, but she isn’t always. And you get to see her be disappointed, upset, embarrassed and hurt from being publicly kicked in the gut as she navigates a job where she appears, on the surface, to be a supremely confident, self-serving, accidental politician. What you see as her naiveté is mostly just her being a regular person in an environment dictated by backhand deals and rich people politics. She gets hit again and again, and you see what it does to her sense of worth to get back up again, how she grapples with her self. And through all this the show is funny?! Se Ra is what writers of manic pixie characters think they are doing and not doing at all. Love her friends, and Jang Hye-jin is *chef’s kiss*!
Hyena - Kim Hye Soo’s Jung Geum Ja is perhaps Se Ra’s older and darker contemporary.  Geum Ja is a survivor and will get what she wants and where she wants to, however many hells she has to cross. She’s single-minded about her success, ruthless and has no qualms about bending morals to get the outcome she needs. She’ll never compromise on who she is or justify how she lives, can build people up and also tear them down, but she also knows care and kindness.
I turned to Signal for more Kim Hye Soo but was disappointed in how the first few episodes seemed to shortchange her. May try again in 2021.
(Highly recommend @saltr0se’s  fic series which just GETS Geum Ja so well. Fic writers are the best)
Search: WWW (Finished in 2020) - It took me half a year to finish this. I started watching Search in Oct 2019 and raced through the first 6 episodes because I couldn’t take my eyes off the rollercoaster of Bae Tami’s life. And then I had to take a break because it was a little too close to the frenetic pace of my own industry. As @drivingsideways wrote, a lot of Search is premised around ‘patriarchy? who dat?’, which is why watching its politics play out is so fascinating.  It’s also deliciously turmoil-y to watch a very clear-sighted, weathered Tami put on rose-tinted glasses for her romance and then frequently peer over them to evaluate whether it could actually meld into her life.
Catch The Ghost - Kim Seonho oozes charm and perhaps Startup was a showcase of how effectively he can be a typical male lead. But Catch is exactly not that. Go Jiseok and Yoo Ryeong have moulded their lives around to meet their most desperate wishes in life and in the process also left parts of themselves untended. There is guilt, pain and need. Now guess who will tend to whose wounds? Their dynamic is electric even when the central mystery flags towards the last few episodes of the show. I really hope Moon Geun Young is doing well and gets more amazing roles soon. She is so good here.
(Highly recommend @melonatures‘s fic for putting that sizzling on-screen chemistry into words. HOW?!) Cherry Magic - Stories about painfully awkward people are my jam and Eiji Akaso gets Adachi’s shy, nervy energy so right. Cherry Magic is straight up just 12 hours of 🥺🥺🥺.
Stranger/Secret Forest - I’ve been devouring the entirety of Agatha Christie’s work this year after Stranger reminded me how comforting murder mysteries can be. I love Bae Doona. I also love characters who don’t get social norms, not always because they are out to flout them but because that’s just not how their mind/brain works. (have to watch S2)
Flower Boy Next Door -  Honestly, the opening scene introducing Park Shin Hye’s character Go Deok Mi sold me on this immediately. An introverted, penny pinching copy editor living alone and working from home thanks to extreme social anxiety? Love. All the side characters are a lot of fun and I’ve never loved Kim Seulgi and Go Kyung Pyo more. It’s a warm show, slowly rounding off the sharp edges of every character.
JUST FUN
The Spies Who Loved Me -  It’s been a year of disappointing rom-coms and Spies kind of quietly turned it around for me. I want to be the fly on Yoo In Na’s wall as she figures how to play her characters. I’ve only seen her in 3 roles but somehow she always manages to be in character arcs that don’t short change her. Spies could’ve been and sometimes is the regular heterosexual fare, but In Na ups the ante over and over again, coming out on top as the smartest person in the room.
ENJOYED WITH *RESERVATIONS*
I have to watch A Piece Of Your Mind again because I don’t understand how Jung Hae In and Chae Soo bin built SO MUCH warmth and crackling chemistry with barely a kiss. I was iffy about how the whole AI thing started off and the tortured musician plotline (angsty male artists will forever be an eyeroll for me).
Park Min Young is a queen who never disappoints and When The Weather Is Nice is everything you want in a winter romance. My reservation was in how they explore so much of domestic abuse and the complex ways its traumatised the women in this family. I’m ok with the characters having imperfect ways of processing and understanding the violence, I welcome it. I’m not ok with the show dancing around whether the pivotal crime was justified/ self defence (it was).
A lot of dramas did this. I loved Han Yeri and Choo Ja Hyun in My Unfamiliar Family, I didn’t like the free pass the show gave their dad’s abusive character.
Hwang Jung Eum’s comedy style is generally not my thing but she was pretty great in Mystic Pop-UP Bar. But I’m side-eyeing the sanctity surrounding motherhood. Maybe I should read more about babies and Korean folklore.
Hospital Playlist was my comfort watch through June and July. I think its wholesomeness and non-plot writing came at a good time for me. But I noticed then that the throughline for all main characters was moral superiority and hence what I then saw as *wholesomeness*. It’s kind of what makes it a grating rewatch in parts. Plus the real life of misogyny of Yoo Yeon Seok makes me want to push his angelic catholic character off a cliff. (For context, i was raised catholic). I want to continue loving Chae Song Hwa, and for that the showrunners need to stop cornering her with overbearing romantic interests (let that woman breathe! she literally ran away to another city!)
Hospital is good at creating moments of comfort, so much so that I went to watch Reply 1988 after it, but had to drop it coz I couldn’t get into it. Maybe I’ll come back to it next year.
Once Again is what I call joint family propaganda. What it does well is lay bare the mechanics of living in a society that prizes the heterosexual family structure, the loops you have to jump through to hide when you break its rules and what happens when you are found out. I love the characters, their fights, their frustrations. I just don’t love the validation of joint families. (context: i grew up in an oppressive joint family lol). In my au, Nahee and Gyujin don’t get married again or immediately have children, but take the long route to figuring out how to love the person the other is. Gahee is openly dating Hyo shin and her parents have to figure out how to process her success and her romance. Young dal and Ok boon have to learn to stop dictating their children’s lives.  Joon sun runs his company from home, so his wife Hyun kyung can work on what she wants. Choyeon, Joori and Ga-yeon go back to being flamboyant AF and the market learns to not judge. Gyujin and Jaesok have to actually work on the relationship with their mother and what sent her into depression. Just a lot of learning involved.
Just Between Lovers was a nice watch, i just don’t get how Kang doo and Ha Moon So’s relationship will survive his constantly simmering anger.
Crash Landing on You was so much fun until the main romance turned angsty, but it gave us North Korean soldier shenanigans and the epic romance of Seo Dan and Alberto Gu that we needed more of.
Tale of The Nine Tailed is probably what Goblin wished it was. I, however, will never be over Lee Rang. (Also, when can gods stop meeting their love interests as babies? Asking for my sanity)
I literally ignored everything in Oh My Ghost except Park Bo Young and Kim Seulgi and it was amazing.
NOPE
Goblin, Dinner Mate, Oh My Baby and My Secret Romance were a whole lot of NO, NAHI, ILLAAA.
I loved hate-watching The King:Eternal Monarch with the rest of k drama tumblr but someone please take away Kim Eun-sook’s access to gigantic budgets and all-star casts.
It was painful to watch Do You Like Brahms squander away its potential but I’m glad to be introduced to Park Eun bin. Age of Youth is next on watchlist.
More than Friends to me is only Ahn Eun jin. Someone give her amazing lead roles asap.
Why did Record of Youth do that to Park So Dam and her clothes? Just why
WANTED TO WATCH, BUT COULDN’T BECAUSE *INTENSE*
World Of The Married, It’s Okay Not To Be Okay, Sweet Home, Extracurricular, Penthouse, Flower of Evil, Lie After Lie
WILL WATCH NEXT YEAR
SF8, Stove League, Birth Care Centre but I’ll start the new year with School Nurse Files coz it looks very good.

Fire Lotus (Sokka x Reader) Part 1/2
-> During his apprenticeship under Master Piandao, Sokka met an unexpected someone.
Tumblr media
It’s officially the third day of his training, Sokka is exhausted yet more determined than ever to prove his worth to the stoic master. As he walked up the steps of the main courtyard, an unusual view greeted him.
The usually empty foyer has someone in it, a girl. She’s sitting cross legged on the floor in front of a tea table that she’s currently using for writing. One slender elegant hand wrap around an ink brush. Hair slightly falling forward, concealing her face away from his sight.
“Ehem” The sound of his master clearing his throat breaks Sokka’s intense observation of the newcomer. But it also pulls her attention away from her parchment.
Their eyes meet, blue clashes with (Y/E/C).
“She’s beautiful” He can’t help but thought to himself.
“Well are you ready to train or do you want to spend the whole day staring?” Piandao’s voice once again interrupted him.
Embarassment flooded through him, whether from getting caught staring or giving another reason for Piandao to doubt his determination, he wasn’t sure which.
“Yes, Master i’m ready to train” He replied, making sure to sound steady and prepared.
“Good, come now” Piandao said before turning his back and making his way to their usual training spot.
Sokka can’t help but sneak a glance before following him but to his surprise she’s already looking his way. The girl gives him a soft smile and an encouraging nod. He nearly swooned on spot, how manly of him.
“Sokka!” Piandao’s voice rang with annoyance had him sprinting all the way to the training ground, the mysterious girl laughter also enters his ear, definitely amused at the situation.
———————————————————————
Yesterday they had spent the day in the sword-making foundry, crafting Sokka’s first sword, and now it’s ready to be used.
“Sokka, when you first arrived, you were so unsure. You even seemed down on yourself. But I saw something in you right away. I saw a heart as strong as a lion turtle, and twice as big. And as we trained, it wasn't your skills that impressed me” As Piandao was saying this, Fat, his ever-disgruntled butler kneels to Piandao and gives him the sword.
“No, it certainly wasn't your skills. You showed something beyond that” Piandao unsheathes the sword, showing its gleaming black blade made of meteorite, and gives it a few masterful swings as Sokka stares at his new weapon with awe.
“Creativity, versatility, intelligence... these are the traits that define a great swordsman” He sheathes the sword back into its holster.
Piandao kneels and presents the sword to Sokka, “And these are the traits that define you”
“You told me you didn't know if you were worthy, but I believe that you are more worthy than any man I have ever trained” He finishes while he stands back up.
“I'm sorry, Master. You're wrong. I am not worthy. I'm not who you think I am. I'm not from the Fire Nation. I'm from the Southern Water Tribe. I lied so that I could learn swordsmanship from you. I'm sorry” Sokka said as he offers the sword back.
Piandao has an unreadable expression on his face, it shows no emotion and yet Sokka has never been more scared of his master, “I'm sorry, too”
Piandao quickly turns back around and swings his sword at Sokka who stands and avoids the attack. Unsheathing his brand new sword, he proceeded to block a thrust from Piandao.
And so the fight ensues.
———————————————————————
Drenched with sweat, Sokka manages to hold his own, but despite all that he finds that Piandao was not even mad in the first place.
“You might want to think of a better Fire Nation cover name, try ‘Lee’, there's a million Lees” Piandao says as he sips his tea.
“But why would you agree to train someone from the Water Tribe‌?” Sokka asked, still in disbelief at the predicament that he founds himself in.
“The way of the sword doesn't belong to any one nation, knowledge of the arts belongs to us all” Is the answer that he gives.
“Sokka, you must continue your training on your own. If you stay on this path, you’ll be greater than Y/N who is my finest prodigy and I know that one day you will become an even greater master than I am”
Although very much elated at his words, Sokka can’t help his curiosity, “Wait but who is Y/N?”
“Well you just met her earlier” Piandao replied while raising one of his brows.
“WAIT WHAT?! you mean the dainty girl in the foyer? that’s your prodigy? but how?” Sokka starts to freak out as he can’t even begin to comprehend this revelation, hell he can’t even imagine her holding a sword let alone wield one.
“What? you don’t believe me? do you need me to call her here because of you doubting her abilities?”
“No no no! don’t do that, please don’t” Sokka literally begged Piandao not to.
“Well then if that’s all, I ought to take my leave” He said as he stands up and walk the other way.
Sokka stares in the direction of the foyer, wondering if the mysterious Y/N is still there.
He decided to take his chances, this is going to be interesting.
———————————————————————
Sokka cursed his luck because she’s nowhere to be found, he even looked in the surrounding hallways yet there’s still no sign of her.
He sigh, shoulders slumped, looking crestfallen, about to turn around towards the main courtyard and go back to the Gaang when he feels a breath next to his ear.
“Looking for me?” Eyes wide, he feels his breath hitched and he gulps, turning his head slowly to the side.
“Umm no! why would I do that?” He tried to come up with an excuse but his eyes gave it all away.
She only stares at him back, right in the eyes. One corner of her lips formed a taunting smirk, as if saying “Go on, just dig a deeper hole for yourself”
“I was looking for my sword okay?!” Now this definitely got her raising one of her eyebrows, tilting her head to the left.
“But... you’re holding it, genius” She said as she direct her line of view towards his left hand then back again to his face that’s now as red as the walls behind it.
Sokka exasperatedly throws both of his hands up, “Okay fine! you caught me”
“I was looking for you” He added, mumbling.
She extended her right hand towards him, “I guess an introduction is in order then, i’m...” before she could even get her name out, Sokka cuts her of.
“Y/N right?” The girl’s mouth formed into an O, clearly surprised that he already knew.
“Master Piandao mentioned you earlier”
“Ahh that explains it, and you are?” She asked in return.
For a moment he thought about Piandao’s word, it’d be a lot safer if he gives her a fake name but deep down he doesn’t want to be someone else in front of her, he wants her to know him as him, as Sokka, so he did.
“You can call me Sokka” He said, extending his hand to shake hers, as he (attempt) to give her what he thinks is a charming smile.
“Nice to meet you Sokka! it gets boring around here you know... but you.. I can tell that you’re a lot of fun” At this he possibly lights up like a christmas tree.
“Nice to meet someone with a good taste in companion, but how come i’ve never seen you around before?”
He made a move to stand beside her and they both walk side by side towards the balcony that overlook the rock garden.
“I live here actually, but when i’m not training or studying, I mostly spend time in my room that’s probably why” She answers as she folded both of her hands and put it on top of the railing.
“Wow you live here? are you related to Master Piandao?” He asks again while closely watching her face, trying to decipher the enigma that is Y/N.
“No... but he’s almost like an uncle to me I guess, I’ve studied under him since I was little, he used to know my father”
Sokka starts carefully, “Soo.. your father?”
She lets out a sigh, “Yeah my father, Master Piandao used to be in the Fire Nation Army under my father’s command, he’s a general”
“Ohh... I see” He replied, trying his best to make his voice sounds comforting and convincing her to dump whatever burden she’s carrying around to him.
“My father knew that Master Piandao is a great calligrapher, that’s why he wants me to learn from him, and I actually enjoyed it a lot. As I grew older, I begged him to give me lessons on how to use the sword, in secret of course. My parents wouldn’t have approved of me learning how to fight as I am a lady” She really has no idea why she’s telling him all this but his presence touched her in more ways than one, and she just feels at peace, like she could tell him anything.
“After Master Piandao deserted the army, our lessons stopped, I tried looking for him but words on the street is that he’s traveling to the other nations so it’s impossible for me to track him down”
“A few years after, I heard a whisper that he’s here, in Shu Jing. And so I seeked him out, I feel betrayed by his decision to leave, and the things that my father said at home about him doesn’t help either, but I know that I needed an explanation, hear it from his own mouth. After all he’s like family too to me”
She stop and just look straight ahead, eyes roaming over the rocks formation and green grass spread below, Sokka thought she was done sharing before she turns her head and look at him.
Looking for any sign of judgement or negative reactions coming from him, but she founds none, so she continues.
“And that’s how I found out about the ugly truth of the Fire Nation, about what kind of evil and monstrosity it is that i’m a part of. That my family plays a key role in. I was disgusted, horrified, shocked. It’s like all this time I was living in a lie, me and everyone else. We were fed all sorts of propaganda since we were born, a twisted version of history” Her voice cracked as she said this, sounding very much pained and ashamed.
“Hey hey that’s okay?” Sokka said as he reached out to take her hands in his, “You didn’t know, you were all lied to by the Fire Lord and his predecessors. What matters is now you know what is right”
She stares at him, her (Y/E/C) eyes glistening with slight tears. He swears that he can feel his heart breaking, seeing her this broken is awful.
“So I made my choice. I ran away from home, only left my parents a note so that they won’t think that I was taken by force. And I went here, to Master Piandao, thankfully he took me in. I wouldn’t know where else I would go if he hadn’t”
“And yeah.... that’s basically it, here we are now” Y/N attempts to play it down, as if she’s not bothered by it anymore, but Sokka can see clear as day that it still does.
“Do you miss them? your parents?” It is a stupid question of course, he knows that, but he just wanted an excuse to keep the conversation going.
“I do... I know that my father’s a bad person... well either that or he made all the wrong choices but still he’s my father. My mother on the other hand is too good for this world. She never did anything bad but she loves my father too much, that’s her downfall. That’s why she still stays despite everything, I can always tell that behind her composed mask, it’s eating her conscience”
“Hey Y/N?”
“Yeah Sokka?”
“Thank you for sharing this with me, you don’t have to but you did and I know this must be hard for you, but I think you’re very strong, never forget that” Sokka said while giving her a genuine smile, eyes softening at the sight of her smiling back in return.
She rubs her eyes, wiping out the tears. Taking a few deep breaths in and out, composing herself back to before her pouring-her-heart-out-for-absolutely-no-reason-at-all session.
“So...” She starts out again, this time in a more cheerful tone, “Are you done with your training?”
“No actually, not even close. I still got a long way to go but i’m on limited time right now so I have to go”
“Oh... so you’re leaving already” She can’t help but feel down over this, she’s just starting to warm up to this guy after all.
An idea pops into Sokka’s head, it may be a dumb and not a carefully thought out one, but still.
“Would you like to go on an adventure with me?” He said, extending both of his hands to the side, as if offering a hug.
She couldn’t possibly look more dumbstruck than she is right now. I mean it’s a crazy proposal right? she just met him and barely knew this person.
“Look I don’t have much time but let me give you a brief explanation and catch you up to the situation”
And so Sokka proceeded to tell her all about his Southern Water Tribe identity, meeting the Avatar, and all the crazy adventures that comes after that in record time.
Key word being tried, he’s just about to form bubbles in his mouth from how fast it’s moving and spitting out words, and he’s even more thirsty by the end of it than the time he accidentally drank cactus juice.
But thank the spirits she got the gist.
Y/N jaw had dropped to the floor somewhere between his many stories, eyes wide her eyeballs might as well just pop out of its socket. Did this guy actually said that he’s from the water tribe? and then what about the part that he said he’s friends with the Avatar? is this for real or is he just clowning her for whatever reason.
“Ehem” Sokka clears his throat uncomfortably while staring at Y/N that had gone as stiff as a statue, “You okay there?”
“I don’t know what to say” She said quietly, it’s almost a whisper, still pretty much in shock.
Sokka snap a finger right in front of her face, and she jerked back as if waking up from a daydream. That seems to do the trick.
“Earth to Y/N? have I broken you or something?” He said in a teasing tone, trying to rile her up for the fun of it.
A scowl formed on her pretty face, the nerve of this guy.
“So is it a yes or a no?”
She takes one last look at him, contemplating about this crazy person that just pops out of nowhere and into her life. But at this moment, it’s possible that she’s the even crazier one out of them two.
“You know what? i’m game, count me in” She said with a wide grin.
Sokka hollers and throws his hands up in celebration.
He grabs her so fast, putting one hand on her back, guiding her.
“I knew I like you for a reason! come on then i’ll introduce you to the Gaang, you’ll love them, I hope” He starts blubbering again and she just shakes her head in wonder.
What have I just got myself into?
———————————————————————
A/N: Whoop whoop so that’s it for Part 1! I really hope that you enjoy this as much as I enjoy writing it. Feedbacks are very much welcome and appreciated ♥️ this is my first Sokka story and I hope I did it justice

✰ 076 | not such a bad idea, part two.
la vie en rose ━ in which lee aera, a girl who has been crushing on choi soobin for a long, long time, is starting her junior year and her friends decide that its time for her to make her move.
( masterlist | prev | next )
A bit further down the hallway, Aera spots Soobin leaning against the wall quite leisurely. When he notices Aera approaching, he stands up straight and smiles at her. “The other boys went outside already, I waited back for you.”
The action in of itself made Aera’s heart skip a beat, quite a long one since she felt a pain in her chest from the lack of blood flow. But the gesture was sweet, and Aera smiled a coy smile, before answering, “You didn’t have to.”
“Eh,” Soobin shrugged. “It was my choice.”
The two take small steps down the hallway towards the balcony, almost as if the both of them didn’t want to join the others and stay with one another. An eerie, yet comfortable silence began to form, but Soobin quickly interjected.
“Your house is really nice,” he complimented. “So is your mother. She’s so lively and welcoming.”
Aera grimaced at his word choice, because lively and welcoming did describe her mother perfectly but so did embarrassing and overbearing. “Yeah, she’s quite a lot.”
“I think she’s friendly. Didn’t make the whole meeting the parents thing as scary as I thought.”
The words make Aera stop her walking for a second. “You were scared about meeting my parents?”
She looked up at Soobin, who was looking further down the hallway before he slowly turned to face Aera with a nervous smile on his lips. “Just a bit. I don’t know why though since I should’ve expected your parents to be just as nice and wonderful as you.”
“Wonderful?” she lightly breathes out.
“Well, technically, I’ve only met your mother, maybe your father isn’t as nice, but we will see when the time comes,” Soobin continues, either ignoring Aera’s look of disbelief mixed with another unreadable emotion or just not seeing it. “I’m sure he is nice though.”
Aera remained staring at Soobin for a few seconds, him returning the gaze as they stood in the vacant hallway in silence. No one else around, just the two of them staring at one another both with thinly veiled, heated gazes filled with admiration and fondness for the other. But the two did not know that, to them, they were staring at a friend, someone who did not return the same feelings to the same intensity as the other. If only they knew the truth, if one of then took the initiative to be brave and ask.
But neither did ask, instead Aera broke their gaze and brought her eyes to the floor, “I think he’s nice. Well, at least Appa is more bearable than Eomma. He’s not as forward.”
“Forward isn’t always bad.”
“Sometimes,” she replies. “Sometimes it isn't.”
They continue down the hallway now, both of them syncing up their footsteps.
“But, hey, I’m guessing Sakura hasn’t tried to kill you yet?” Soobin says with a joking lilt, teasing her for her irrational worries.
Aera scoffs a laugh at that. “Not yet, at least.”
The pair finally make it to the doorway and Aera steps to the right to seat herself at the picnic table, muttering the apology she promised her mother she would deliver. Soobin veered off to the left, taking a place on the sofa with the other three boys who seemed to be deep in the talk about a new album from someone Soobin hadn’t heard of before.
Sakura watched as Aera placed down her laptop and notebook, seemingly expectant for the brown-hair girl to say something that Aera wasn’t sure of. Due to this, she raised an eyebrow at Sakura and asked, “What?”
“You didn’t tell me that you invited other people,” Sakura quietly spoke, peering over to the opposite side of the balcony where Taehyun now stood singing a random tune that seemed to have the other three boys enraptured. “Did you purposely not tell me or?”
“No, I-” Aera knows that she can’t lie well. Whenever she tries either her voice raises over to octaves or she blinks repeatedly, for the worst cases she does both. “Maybe we should just start choosing a song. I’ve made you wait long enough.”
“Yeah,” the other girl agrees, not taking her eye off of Soobin as she speaks, and Aera being sure to take note of the action. “Let’s start.”
Sakura and Aera had made progress within the last hour and a half. They chose their song, one by IU where Sakura felt like it was easy to catch the beat, while Aera thought the lyrics were telling yet easy to remember. They then called up the boys to listen to their presentation, allowing them to give out critiques and feedback to their girls where the four boys found necessary. Although Aera was almost certain Taehyun was using this time to show off his vocal abilities, seeing as each time he found a ‘problem’ with the girls’ singing, he gave them a tutorial on how they should be singing and performing it himself.
A few minutes after the girls had gotten started with their performance for the boys, Aera’s parents brought out the loads of ‘snacks’ that they had prepared. Tteokbokki, jajangmyeon, and fried pork cutlets were just a few of the delicacies that the eldest Lees had prepared for their youngest child and her friends. The moment the food had been set out, the six teenagers began feasting.
For the three new young boys, since he was already familiar with Sanha, they were introduced to Aera’s father. The older man took it upon himself to ask each of them their name and speak with them a bit. He relayed the compliments his wife had spoken to him about, but Aera noticed that her father kept going back to Soobin and asking him questions.
Her mother had sat with the girls at the picnic table, being sure to feed Sakura as much food as she pleased and answered any question the bright-haired girl had about the cooking process. For Aera, being around Sakura for these past few hours weren’t as tortuous as she thought. She had expected snarky comments and backhanded words to be spat her way every ten seconds, but Sakura was actually quite (and Aera can’t believe she was thinking it but--) nice.
Sakura has a voice that’s velvety and smooth when she sings, and whenever Aera would mess up a lyric or sing in the wrong key, Sakura wouldn’t belittle her for her mistake. She would actually pause the music and help Aera go over the line once again. The two girls made a better team than they had thought, and once the group had stuffed themselves full, the two girls resumed their ‘performance’ for the four boys.
They sang the song a total of five times before the girls were deemed ‘flawless’ by the quartet. Although, Jeongin wasn’t paying that much attention and Sanha would say that they were flawless after each time they finished their song. Soon all six of them fell into simple conversation, Sakura squeezing onto the two-seat sofa with Soobin and Taehyun, and Aera sitting comfortably between Jeongin and Sanha on the three-seat couch.
Currently, they were debating whether they were Team Iron Man or Captain America, and majority had voted Team Cap, with Jeongin and Taehyun being the outliers who sided with Iron Man.
“Literally, what does Iron Man have to offer,” Sanha argued, “he’s just a rich man in a suit!”
“Exactly,” Jeongin rebutted. “He’s rich, he has money to offer. Do you guys think the Avengers tower, the hulk iron suit thingy, and so many more of the gadgets the Avengers used would have been created without Tony?”
Soobin shook his head at that. “Well, Ultron wouldn’t have been made without Tony either. He literally caused the entire second Avengers movie.”
“Who’s Ultron?” Sakura asked, and Taehyun agreed with her.
“The robot in Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Aera informed them. “C’mon guys it’s literally in the name!”
“And-and also, Captain America is just better because he could pick up Thor’s hammer in Endgame, like,” Aera paused for a second for dramatic effect. “Iron Man couldn’t do that. That means Steve Rogers is worthy.”
“Well Iron Man freaking saved the world and brought back everyone who was dead leafed away,” Taehyun pointed out. “Steve didn’t do that shit.”
“Dead leafed,” Soobin asked in confusion. “But anyways, Steve Rogers was still alive in the end, Tony wasn’t. There is clearly only one winner.”
“But Steve went back,” Jeongin said.
“He still isn’t dead,” Sanha interrupted. “But I’m not going to say Cap is perfect. He kissed his ex lover’s niece like three days after she died. And then went back to be with that same ex lover, so technically he kissed his niece!”
A chorus of ‘eww’ and ‘gross’ echoed throughout the group, while Sanha simply shrugged and said, “Somebody had to point it out.”
Suddenly a vibrating buzz filled the air, and Sakura stood up from her seat. She grabbed her ringing phone and began talking to whoever was on the other line. None of the boys paid attention to her, but Aera was watching her in case it was time for her to leave. Soon after, Sakura hung up the phone and began packing her stuff.
“My mom said she’s outside,” Sakura spoke to the group, making Aera stand up so she could lead Sakura to the front door.
The four boys all echoed different forms of, “goodbye,” as Sakura finished packing her things, and began heading inside. Aera and Sakura made their way back down the hallway and to the front foyer, standing idly for a few seconds as they prepared their farewells.
“Uh,” Aera began. “Thanks, for coming over. I hope it wasn’t as bad as you thought it was going to be.”
“It wasn’t as bad,” Sakura smiled. “It was actually quite enjoyable, which I never thought I would have had as much fun with someone who I thought was so boring.”
Aera smiled tight-lipped at that, not being sure if she should be offended or grateful. “Thanks? But, yeah, it was fun. At least we got the project done.”
“Yeah,” Sakura placed her hand onto the door handle, pulling it open while still facing Aera. “But really, you’re cool.”
“You too, Sakura.”
“Thanks,” she smiled, turning to leave before she looked back at Aera quickly and said, “Oh! Can you also tell Soobin I’ll text him later? I forgot to say it before I left the balcony.”
The brown-haired girl froze at that statement, a pang of something settling in her chest but she recovers quickly. “Yeah, I’ll tell him when he leaves.”
“Cool. Thanks.”
“Yeah,” Aera watches as Sakura walks from her front door to the passenger seat of her mother’s car. “Bye.”
She makes her way back out to the balcony, expecting to see the four boys still in their same spots, but instead she is only greeted by Jeongin and Sanha.
“Where are the other two,” she asks, taking their previous seats in their absence.
“They went to go help your mom clean the dishes,” Jeongin says through a piece of fried pork cutlet in his mouth, which Aera doesn’t know where he got it from because she was sure they had finished that off first out of all of the dishes. “Y’know to get in her good ranks again.”
“I’m surprised you aren’t in there too, San San.”
Sanha rests back farther in his seat. “Eh, I think it’s time for me to step down from my position of favorite and let someone who deserves it take the crown.”
“Ah, what a humble fellow,” Aera jokes with a posh accent.
“That I am,” Sanha replies, playing along.
Jeongin mutters something under his breath about the two of them being weird just as Taehyun and Soobin return, Soobin sitting beside Aera on the sofa, and Taehyun choosing to join Sanha and Jeongin on the couch.
A warm silence takes over the group as no one talks, but Aera does take notice of the fact that she and Soobin are merely an inch and a half apart and with the slightest movement of her knee, their knees would be touching. But she doesn’t have to contemplate whether or not she was going to make the first move, seeing as seconds later Soobin moves his own knee, knocking his jean-clad one with her sweatpant clad knee.
The silence seems to thicken for a moment, and neither of them move an inch. Sanha notices the discreet action, taking it upon himself to not make a big deal and he turns to face Jeongin in order to conceal his smile.
Maybe this wasn’t a bad idea after all.

"I told you I heard something!"
Viktor jolted in fright, whipping his head round to the commotion that had appeared uninvited. His face a clear portrayal of scepticism and slight irritation, as he watched the newly affronted guards catch their breath for but a moment.
One had an accusing finger pointed at Yuuri, an expression of incredulity plastered messily on his face. He seemed more doubtful of the situation than anybody else, as if he were expecting the younger man to disappear right before his eyes.
He began to ramble, his voice screeching frantically as he bounced on the spot. The guard ignored Yuuri's obvious agitation, whether to his knowledge or lack of, and began hurling questions one after another.
"Who are you?!"
"What are you doing in the kitchens at this hour?"
"You-You're not a thief, are you? Or a ruffian? Or, oh God, not an assassin - please don't be an assassin-"
The other guard stood, stoic and seemingly unbothered. He closed his eye in what looked to be hushed ire, before sighing and opening them again. He quirked an eyebrow at the shorter man before him; Yuuri looked away swiftly from both guards - humiliated and looking quite ready for the night to end.
The reserved among the two soldiers had an analytical gaze meander from the shorter male and along an outstretched arm. He seemed to realise what his partner had failed to notice: there was not one, but two people currently in the scullery.
The indifferent guard slowly looked upward, meeting another gaze.
He gulped, quite obviously.
Viktor noticed this soldier's sudden reaction - now smug and awaiting.
"Leo," the stiff man began softly, eyes wider than saucers as he attempted to gain the other's attention. It did little to do so nonetheless, as Leo's one-sided confrontation with Yuuri was still ongoing.
"Leo," he tried again - a more stern edge in his voice, accompanied by a gentle yet simultaneously harsh shove.
Leo simply ignored his partner, still fixed entirely on Yuuri.
"Leo!"
That, caught the over-eager male. His head whirled to look at his companion, uncertainty all but scribbled onto his face at the panicked cry that had evaded the room.
"Seung-Gil Lee," he finally acknowledged, "What is it?"
Seung-Gil Lee, or Lee - as we'd discover in a moment, raised an all but shaky hand, palm faced upwards and directed at Viktor.
"It's the prince. The crown prince. It's Prince Nikiforov," he all but babbled, a stark contrast to the calm and aloof character he had first presented.
There was a deafening silence before Leo turned to Viktor, his expression morphing into absolute terror.
Viktor let out a little chuckle - his extended arm coming to rest at his side. He threw a devious look at Yuuri, who was still frozen beside him - a look that screamed 'watch this'.
Viktor noted the tiny choke that left Yuuri's lips - truly a magical sound.
"Lee. Lee, tell me this is a dream. Tell me I didn't just do that in front of Prince Nikifo-oh my God, your majesty, I am so sorry!" Leo pinched himself mid rant, his pain shown in his loud exclamation and sudden blasphemy. He bowed unceremoniously, a clumsy action that nearly had him tumbling face first into the tiled floors of the kitchen.
He stayed there for a second, before noting that Lee was still stood straight - stiff and still in shock. He made a grab for his partner's back, pushing his palm flat, and forcing the other into a rapid bend.
"Ah, your-your highness! We didn't-we didn't realise-!"
The crown prince held his hand up, signalling Lee to a halt.
The prince stepped forward, pulling the soldiers at their shoulders to bring them upright. He said, chipperly, "Please, it was an honest mistake! At this time of night, I'm not surprised you almost didn't see me at all!"
Viktor allowed for a blinding heart-shaped smile to grace his lips - his cheeks plumping and eyes crinkling.
"Ah, um, ye-yes, your highness. Thank you, for being so considerate," the shorter soldier squeaked. Leo, was it? Viktor questioned silently, as the other continued, "If, if you don't mind me asking, your majesty, but-but uh, what were you doing here at such a late hour?"
Viktor flinched involuntarily - right, how would he explain that? He wasn't stupid, he knew confessing to sneaking out wouldn't end in his favour. The guards were bound to rat him out to Yakov, it was their job after all, and Viktor all but knew he wouldn't live to see the light of day if Yakov found out he was still sneaking out.
Well.
He didn't get to sneak out anyway, since Yuuri had stopped-
Yuuri.
Yuuri.
That's it!
Viktor grinned to himself, a little white lie forming into an entire charade in his mind.
He opened his mouth, words ready to fire and hopefully avoid an impending doom. Whilst doing so, he swivelled round, ready to pull Yuuri by his side - seconds away from truly selling whatever story he could.
He blinked.
In the exact spot Yuuri had stood was only something empty - providing a clear view of a door held ajar and a dark corridor.
The knights must've noticed too, for the prince heard a startled gasp and a very concerned, 'where the hell did he go-?!'
Viktor grimaced. Without Yuuri, he was going to have to tell the truth.
Fuck.
---
"Vitya! You know why you're not allowed out of the castle after dark! It's too dangerous-!"
Viktor was barely listening. In fact, it was safe to say that he wasn't listening at all: his mind solely focused on the enchanting enigma that was Yuuri Katsuki.
He didn't have it in him to be angry at Yuuri's betraying escape - after all, he could only imagine how scared he must've been to be confronted by the prince himself and two other guards.
As fleeting as a dream in the early hours of the morning, Viktor realised. Yuuri was there one moment, and gone the next. A beautiful and mysterious puzzle that Viktor wanted nothing more than to solve.
He was going to find him.
He still needed to thank him, of course. It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Viktor may or may not have had such a little infatuation with the man. No way.
"-and yet, you still put yourself and this entire kingdom in danger by sneaking out and, and- Vitya? Viktor! Are you even listening?!"
That jostled Viktor from his internal conflict, and thus, he looked up from where he sat in his advisor's office - offering the most charming smile he could.
"Why, excuse me, dear Yakov. I couldn't help but notice," he started, his voice dripping of honey, "have you lost weight?"
Viktor didn't know what hit him, not until he noted the advisor's missing shoe.
"You brat! I can't believe you! I-"
Yakov sighed. Viktor wondered briefly if he could make it to the door from where he was; maybe he could leg it into his room and take refuge there. It was a big enough living space, and of course dying by starvation sounded much more appealing than dying by Yakov's sightless rage.
Instead of being met with said sightless rage, however, he was met with a wistful sigh and a soft look that he had ever rarely seen on the man’s face.
“I know you aren't happy right now. Not with the...the arrangement." Yakov spat.
Viktor grimaced.
"And I know you want nothing more than to visit that garden. But I also know that stepping out of bounds at such a time will only put you in danger. You're next in line to take the throne, Vitya. You can't afford to risk this. The entire kingdom depends on you."
He hated to admit it. But after listening to him, he realised Yakov was right. As much as he'd wanted to go into the gardens, well... There was still the underlying threat of ruffians from a neighbouring state. If he were to compromise his self, his kingdom wouldn't survive.
He swallowed.
He looked over at the older male.
"I know. I'm sorry."
He feebly risked a glance at his advisor, regarding the tired smile resting on his features.
"Ah, Vitya. You're still young, but you're not a child anymore. Learn what's good for you. Just take care of yourself," Yakov whispered hoarsely. Soon enough, the caring look he portrayed was replaced with a more familiar exasperated expression. "Now get out of here - I have things to do and your father won't be pleased if he finds me having a mothers' meeting with the likes of his only heir."
Viktor smiled cheekily, before standing up and heading to the door, almost tripping over Yakov's shoe-turned-weapon.
Yakov was good to him, despite his brash tendencies. He ought to give him a fruit basket every once in a while.
As he stepped out, he closed the door behind him, and looked over to his right. A large glass-paned window, and before it stood a table with a vase full of dying flowers, and a peculiar small statue of smooth rock. It was of a woman, bathing in the golden sunlight just beginning to peak over the horizon. Behind her, Viktor looked out the window, and watched the pink and gold of the dawning day begin to bleed into one another; an abstract painting littered with the graphite of soaring birds of all shapes and sizes.
Beautiful, he thought, like Yuuri.
He turned and decided his path, when he abruptly collided with something, or more so, someone. He was sent flying backwards, his hands coming to stop his complete fall behind him.
The prince, slightly dazed and left shaken, looked over to the culprit of his unexpected tumble.
Well, speak of the devil.
"Yuuri?"

Kdrama recs Part 2
Hello @camsthisky and anyone else who cares! I do apologize for the delay on this post--it has only been 84 years since Part I of my kdrama recs, I know, and I thought about going for a full century but this is me finding a way to de-stress after watching the first episode of I-Land alkdjfadlksj I’m gonna die of heartbreak but whatever
Speaking of heartbreak, there is a lot to be found in Korea’s wonderful historical dramas, so like, be warned—or, if you are an angst-loving monster like me, settle down for hot guys and good cries
Let us begin! (or, if you want romantic modern dramas see Part 1)
Tumblr media
1. Scarlet Heart Ryeo/Moonlovers:
aha ahahahahahaha *weeps* You may have heard people talk about this show. You may have heard ME talk about this show. This thing was my first kdrama ever and it RUINED ME
Disclaimer: I have seen this show once and rewatched it twice and on the rewatches I can never quite make myself watch the last 4 or 5 episodes because things get tragic and messy and I get mad. HOWEVER there is a lot of good in the first part of the show and because this thing was all the rage in everywhere but Korea itself, there’s like over 300 fanfic for it and several good fix-its, including one by my good friend @thelonelybrilliance
Ok so anyway this show which could also be called An Abundance of Princes starts with a young woman from modern times getting thrown back into ancient Goryeo during an eclipse and finds herself in the body of Hae Soo, the cousin of the wife of one of the princes, and thus she gets embroiled in royal affairs which are, quite frankly, a mess. See, the evil eyeliner prince (whom I love even when he’s the worst) is plotting with his mom to get the Crown Prince out of the way aka dead BUT who should return to the Palace but the 4th Prince, Wang So, who has spent at least half his life living as hostage to a powerful family.
So has a scar that cuts across his eye and which in this society makes him a horror to look at or smthing idk he just looks extra hot to me but anyway he wears a mask and is known as the wolf dog (or as the MURDER ANGST CUPCAKE thanks @abadpoetwithdreams). He might seem a little rough around the edges at first because his life has been hell but he really just wants to love and be loved okay people need to be nice to him wtf
Other princes include:
    1.  the Crown Prince, Wang Mu, a good egg, not particularly charismatic but he tried to protect his lil bro when no one else would
    2.  the 8th prince, Wang Wook, who reminds me of a fellow named Shane and I don’t mean the cowboy
    3.  the 10th prince, Wang Eun, a dumb adorable spoiled bby (played by Baekhyun from EXO)
    4.  the 13th prince, Baek Ah, a tol soft boi, an artist, a BAE, a BRO, a SHIPPER ON DECK
    5.  the 14th prince, Wang Jung this son will fight everyone he’ll fight himself he just loves to fight! Not always wise but he’s a good boy and I like him a lot
    6.  just realized I skipped the 9th prince but nobody cares
One quick note is that IU plays Hae Soo, and I enjoy her a lot in the first half of the show where she is still spunky and rebellious...sadly her character kind of falls apart/gets too weak for my liking as the episodes progress
The MAIN reason why I feel it my duty to recommend this show to everyone despite the fact I have never met anyone who wasn’t traumatized by it is LEE JOON GI
Yes, this man:
Tumblr media
I mentioned him in the previous rec post—he played Bong Sang Pil in Lawless Lawyer (AND IS NOW CURRENTLY STARRING IN FLOWER OF EVIL WHICH WILL BE ON ANOTHER POST AHDFOIASDHGALDSKJF FRIQ I AM IN LOVE WITH THAT MAN)
BUT SERIOUSLY LOOK AT HIS PHOENIX EYES!!! HIS RAZOR SHARP FEATURES! HIS BIG ADORABLE EARS! HIS BEAUTIFUL EXCESSIVE BANGS! 4TH PRINCE WANG SO LOVE OF MY LIFE
Tumblr media
SOMEONE PROTECT THIS BBY
2. Hwarang: Ok so right off the bat I am going to smack down a disclaimer that I can’t stand the female lead. TRULY CANNOT. Thus, I don’t like the romance, and only care about the love triangle as far as it just shows how sad and lonely one of the guys is. (Also there are scenes of dumb old men plotting and I don’t like them either). At the end of the show, I am happy that the one guy is NOT stuck with the female lead as his wife. Good for you sir
Sounds like a show to steer clear of then, right? WRONG. This is a show that you skip through because the scenes that are good? Are GREAT
Picture this: It is the Silla era of Korea, and the queen is ruling as regent in place of her son, who has been hiding all his life because everyone wants to kill him. Well, son is now grown and must soon come into the light and take the throne. Queen who both wants her son as king but also really likes being queen decides to do everyone a favor and form an elite fighting squad out of all the prettiest and most talented sons of nobles in the land, with the idea that they will be loyal only to the throne, and thereby keep their dads from plotting to destroy everything.
Let me tell you something, these ARE the prettiest boys in the land. Good hair, good jawlines, beautiful smiles—the cast lineup includes Park Hyung Sik and his cute lil elf ear, Park Seo Joon, Taehyung (yes from BTS!), and Choi Minho from Shinee, plus two other actors who are lesser known but who are drop-dead gorgeous. Anyway. Sorry, but they really are all beautiful.
The fun thing is they don’t all get along right away, a few of them are VERY much opposed to the other for various reasons, but they all have to bond and become brothers in arms. And what they don’t know is that the real king snuck in and is one of them. 10/10 I would die for the boys! (also Tae has an older half-brother who is a lower rank than him but whom he looks up to and that makes for cuteness and pain) Once you skip the boring or annoying parts of the show, the rest has so much delight, laughter, and oops pain, lots of pain. I want to go re-watch.
Two other things I should mention about the show: a super soft side romance between secondary characters and a game of, as they call it in the show, HOT SOCCER
Tumblr media
^pretty boy 1 (with the cute elf ear sadly on the other side of his head)
Tumblr media
^pretty boy 2 (sad cheekbone bby) and pretty boy 3 (happy cheekbone bby)
Tumblr media
^pretty boy 4 (the prettiest of them all, and he knows it!)
Tumblr media
^pretty boy 5 (aka Taehyung danced around the set of a historical drama and made everyone adopt him as their bby)
3. Faith/The Great Doctor: This is a longer kdrama at 24 episodes and they didn’t have much of a budget so special effects aren’t the best or anything but I just got really attached to all the characters? This is another modern girl goes back in time but UNLIKE SHR it actually has a happy ending, so if you need a historical drama cleanse after that tearjerker/enrager, this could be it for you
Eun Soo has to navigate the ancient kingdom, keep people believing she is a heavenly doctor with special powers, and keep Choi Young alive so he can fulfill his promise of returning her to her own time. The problem with that is Choi Young does have kind of a death wish because of reasons—
Eun Soo is a plastic surgeon who would really like a rich handsome husband one day but them’s the breaks for you, aka she has had no luck in that department. Back in ancient Korea, Choi Young (played by Lee Minho in sadly the only role I really love him in) is a high-ranking beloved captain who can fall asleep anywhere. Oh he can also make electricity with his hands! :D
The story begins when the sleepy sad captain tries to escort the new king and queen to their palace. This was during the time period when ancient Korea was basically a puppet kingdom/tributary of ancient China (Yuan). The king (who is very smol and lacks confidence, but still has a good heart for his country) lived as a hostage in Yuan for many years, and his wise tol queen is a princess of that land, and someone needs to sit them down and make them talk because they actually love each other a lot. Anyway, when the queen gets injured by assassins, Choi Young goes searching for a legendary doctor, winds up in modern Korea, and steals both Eun Soo and a SWAT shield, because hey, it looked cool I guess
Lots of fun things in the show: Choi Young has a crew of soldiers who are BEYOND loyal to him, and while he doesn’t think much of the king at first because he’s been burned by kings before, they slowly become bros and shippers on deck for each other. Eun Soo does not lose her spunk or loyalty unlike other people I could mention *cough*HaeSoofromScarletHeartRyeo*, and it cracks me up when she curses people out. There are also a bunch of people (mostly bad guys) running around with special powers or gifts, including a flame lady and a flute boy, and the latter wears delightful anime wigs, keeps his sword in his flute, and plays his flute to kill—literally! I love flute boy very much
Tumblr media
sorry it’s black and white but DO YOU SEE THE SWAT SHIELD
4. My Country: A New Age:
ANGST ANGST ANGST PAAAAAIN BUT ALSO BEST INTRO BEST FAVES BEST ACTORS
Picture this: two young men, who both hail from childhoods of trauma, who grew up together and are best friends, and who are tragically forced apart and end up on opposite sides of a conflict that threatens to upend the current rule of the kingdom. This IS the star-crossed brotp you’ve been waiting for!
Seo Hwi is the son of a general who died a criminal, and all he wants is to live simply and earn enough rice take care of his younger sister, who has seizures and a sweet crush on Hwi’s bestie. Hwi is the best softest most loyal boy with a good and true heart, a great deal of courage, and a talent for wielding a sword, and just wait till you see the best one-shot fight scene ever of him in battle, it is INCREDIBLE! (He is played by Yang Se Jong, who I now want to see more of) Hwi has an abundance of charisma points in that he picks up a small band of loyal soldier friends and they become the best little found family, lots of brotp-ness in this crew—do not mess with any of them because they will all FIGHT you
Seon Ho meanwhile is the illegitimate despised son of a powerful nobleman, only tolerated because the legitimate son died. Seon Ho loves his friend and is very protective of his friend’s little sister who crushes on him but his dad is a high class grade A power-hungry jerk and that causes complications of course. Seon Ho also has a good heart, he’s a gentle soul really, but he always gets stuck in bad positions and unfortunately makes a couple of difficult/bad choices so he hardens himself as much as he can but the consequences always kill him and he just wants to save his friends and destroy his dad and the stupid hierarchy that treats bastards as lesser. WHY IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?
Seon Ho he is played by Woo Do Hwan who has so much talent I die so many times over in this show just because of the way he portrays Seon Ho like that sad sad boy is one of my favorite characters evER! Is he problematic? At times maybe but I am HERE for him he just needs LOVE AND AFFECTION AND AN ABUNDANCE OF GOOD FRIENDS BUT INSTEAD (SOMETIMES THRU HIS OWN FAULT BUT HE ADMITS THAT) HE JUST SUFFERS AND SO I SUFFERRRR
*grabs a towel and dries up my tears*
Hwi also falls in love with a woman named Hui Jae (or was it Hee Jae i can’t remember) and they are very cute together, she’s pretty cool but the show’s one failing is arguably that they kind of underuse her in the plot as the story goes on? But I still like her and she still has a good role, and she is both brave and kind and not afraid to step in or tell people off, also keep a weather eye open for patching up scenes!
Oh yeah, eVERYONE in this gets hurt/stabbed/shot/bloody, such a shame they have to take their shirts off to clean and bandage the wounds ;)
Last character I must mention is Bang Won, played by Jang Hyuk in his second interpretation of the historical figure. Bang Won is the fifth? son of the guy who becomes emperor/king, and he has his own plans for the country, so when Hwi catches his eye, he recruits him to his cause.  What you need to know about him is that he has issues with his dad, is slightly unhinged, and cannot and should not be parted from the fan that he constantly carries around with him. Gotta say, Jang Hyuk is FANTASTIC (heheheheheheh) in the role, able to convey all kinds of emotion in the rise and fall of his voice, in the tilt of his head, the tears of his eyes, the flick of his fan. Give this actor all the awards!
To sum up: if you like to cry for days after watching a drama, if you like excellent heart-wrenching brotps, if you like conflicted characters, if you like amazing music and setting and plot, if you like guys with good hair and arm muscles (and
abs, thank you shirtless scenes what) this show is a Must Watch
Tumblr media
DID I SAY STAR-CROSSED BROTP I MEANT SWORD-CROSSED BROTP ADKJFADLSKJFLKJDFALKDGKLJL </3
~
Ok I was going to leave the historical drama post at this for now but...I’m going to cheat a little and include the one historical C!drama I just finished.Yes folks I am talking about:
5. Nirvana in Fire:
Ok so maybe the switch from kdrama to cdrama makes you uncertain. Maybe the fact that this show has FIFTY-FOUR EPISODES makes you go hell no I don’t have enough time for that. Well if you overlook this show for those reasons, you are making, and I do not exaggerate, the greatest mistake of your show-watching life!
Look, first, this drama has one of the best, most intricate, most satisfying plots in history, with like 20 characters you would die for, and second, the episodes are only about 42 minutes each, which is shorter than most kdrama episodes, so you can deal.
Once upon a time there was a general/family who were just too good to exist in corrupt old China, so naturally they were framed for treason and there was a giant massacre and everybody died, including the eldest prince who was like um dad maybe this is all a horrible mistake and the king was like no u are the mistake. Sad times.
One of the many younger princes named Jing (A NOBLE HEART, if not always the cleverest) returns home from wherever he was, finds out that not only did his prince brother die, but so did his best friend/brother in the whole wide world, Lin Shu, son of the general. Because he insists on the innocence of said bros/family, Jing becomes an outcast prince and is shuffled off to fight in wars where he can’t cause any trouble. Meanwhile, Princess Nihuang, Lin Shu’s brave, awesome, amazing, wise, incredible girlfriend, refuses to marry anyone else, and because she is too cool to be messed with, nobody tries to banish her
Cut to I think eleven years later, when the two most powerful princes are vying to be the crown prince and heir to the throne. They both try to recruit the aid of a renowned clever and sassy strategist named Mei Changsu, to help them with plotting and PR and such.
Well little do they know that Mei Changsu is actually the not-dead Lin Shu, with a completely new face (for reasons), and that Mei Changsu is a chess master setting up a long con for the dual purpose of obtaining revenge/justice for the dead and of raising Prince Jing to the throne, since Prince Jing is the only man with a good enough heart and strong enough will to make China a better place for all the people. But just to make it hard on everybody, Mei Changsu is dead set on not telling anyone who he really is—again, for reasons. He is not always successful in keeping his secret.
I literally don’t know what else to say because there is so MUCH to say, so many characters to love, and I mean LOVE. How do you get a cast this good? How is everyone so different yet so important? How do you feel bad for the emperor even when he’s slimy? How do you have to stop yourself from rooting for the prince who would destroy some of your faves? I can’t praise the charisma and acting talent in this show enough! And the music! IS GORGEOUS!
1 strategist too sassy for his own good and too clever for everyone else’s good + 1 prince who loves his mom and his dead best friend and his dead older brother more than anything else in the world + 1 gentle wise mom + 1 eternally loyal princess who would defend her loved ones with the sword if necessary + 1 sassy Elrond healer man + 1 grumpy sulky baby who loves being a better fighter than almost everyone + 1 loyal to the death, brave badass general who is going to have a stress breakdown if the strategist doesn’t take better care of himself + not 1 but 2 good boys who deserve to be protected but who are willing to throw themselves into battle if necessary + 1 antagonist tiger prince who I love and am not ashamed to say it = THE BEST OF TIMES

My 2020 in dramaland pt 2/4
Tumblr media
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it and happy holidays to everyone!! These are my favorite korean dramas of the year (I stand by these titles and I’m not ashamed of them lol). In chronological order:
My Holo Love: Say what? Who? First of all, I think this is a seriously underrated kdrama. I made a review on it here. Female lead had face blindness and Male Lead was a genius programmer. I know how this sounds but it all works for the plot, actually. Loved every moment of it (I watched it twice, and I rarely do that with dramas). A sort of sci-fi/fantasy romcom drama with a really unusual (and thus my favorite, EVER) love triangle and a nostalgic feel to it. While looking at my list of kdramas I knew I couldn’t treat Holo like all the others LOL it was special for me and still is.
OTP: They had sizzling chemistry! I honestly bought every cliche because of it. Including love at first sight.
Thing I enjoyed the most: The story was simple and had a lot of cliches but they kinda worked to the story’s advantage. This show is an example of why I fell for kdramas almost 10 years ago. Plus, the CGI wasn’t bad.  It’s ony 12 eps and they don’t really last an hour. A one day watch.
Do I recommend it? I LOVED it, but I recognize it’s not for everyone, but if you’re looking for something fun, cute and light to binge-watch that still has some drama and a lot of romance and a happy ending, this is for you.
Find me in Your Memory: Beautiful. Awesome chemistry. Very romantic. She’s an actress, he’s an anchorman. She forgets a lot of things, he literally can remember most things REALLY WELL. She falls for him first, he tries to put distance because of his terrible past in his dating life lol but she wins him over and by the end, he loves her more than anything and anyone. They overcome a lot of crazy shit, and being together it’s hard, but it’s worse being apart. I made a review.
OTP: Loved them both individually and together. And honestly, THAT chemistry was perfect.
Thing I enjoyed the most: The chemistry and the acting by the leads. I became a fan of both because of this.
Do I recommend it? You really haven’t seen it? Please do it. Hahahaha Well, do it if you want to see a good melo knowing what that involves (romance, sadness, lots of tears, some frustration, etc). A really sweet and happy ending that was very well deserved. My favorite melo of the year Sorry Brahms!.Also, fair warning, it has a stalkers’ sub-plot.
The King: Eternal Monarch: You all know what this is about. And I said everything I wanted in my posts (I was mostly fangirling like crazy). Here’s my last one about it. I loved the acting and the story a lot. But I think the drama should have been longer.  Also, I loved the energy of the actors behind the scenes, idk why, but it always warms my heart to see the actors get along on set. Sure, it could be a publicity stunt, but I just don’t think it was the case with this one. And I know not a lot of people liked the two lead characters and said they had no chemistry but imo they were great characters and the actors had LOTS of chemistry. It’s just that it wasn’t very well translated in the first eps, but it was fixed. This, I believe, was a more of a direction problem, rather than a script or acting one.
BTW if the drama was already about time travel and parallel worlds, I had NO problem believing in destiny and that the leads were meant to be. It was fantasy, you guys, not rocket science.
OTP: the main couple loved each other passionately and fiercely. He waited 20+ years to meet her and another 20+ years (practically) to see her again AND she was willing to risk getting stuck in a timeless void just to be by his side because otherwise he would be all alone. Now, that’s love! Personally, I loved their ending.
Thing I enjoyed the most: The King ahahaha I’m a shameless fan, what can I do? He was a good man and a gentleman but a ruthless king thirsty for justice and vengeance. I cheered when he killed his uncle lmao. Also, all the mutuals I “met” thanks to this drama. You guys made the experience even better with your posts and your theories!! *sends hugs*
Do I recommend it? Look the story is great in my eyes. I did understand it and the mechanics of the time travel and the parallel worlds. The King explained everything quite a few times. I say this because most people that didn’t like it say they couldn’t understand the story and/or it made no sense. To me, it did. But I can see why this wouldn’t be for all. That being said, I shamelessly recommend it lol.
More than Friends: The faces they’re doing in the poster, are the ones I did while watching the last 4 eps of this drama HAHAHA which made me real sad/angry because I LOVED the story from ep 1 to 12. So, this is on the list MERELY BECAUSE OF LEE SOO, the male lead, played by Ong SeongWu. I went crazy and wrote about almost every scene on the drama lol I was obsessed. You can read my review about the whole thing here.
OTP: Wonderful chemistry. The best either of the actors have had so far with any of their co-stars. Then again, SeongWu has only been in 2 dramas and 1 movie. And Shin YeEun hasn’t been in a lot but had really good chemistry with Park JinYoung in He’s Pyschometric. (btw that drama is superior, I highly recommend it!)
Thing I enjoyed the most: The magnificent character development that Lee Soo went through. He was a completely different person in ep 16 compared to the selfish jerk in eps 1-4 (SeongWu’s acting in this convinced me he is one of the best actors of his age, and one of the best idols turned actors at the moment). And I loved discussing this drama with the only other 10 people who were watching it hahaha Thanks y’all.
Do I recommend it?  They advertised it as a romcom, but it really isn’t. It’s more of a slice of life/melo drama. I believe this is better as a binge-watch, but do not expect mindblowing plot, since it’s a character driven drama. So, do check out my review about it and have a go at it, I guess hahaha If not, you could see my posts about the show here and still know everything, because I pretty much covered the entire drama HAHAHA.
Note: I kinda think this drama is sort of a “500 days of Summer” situation, people either sympathize with ML or FL and hate the other. Or both HAHAHA It’s all about perspective, I guess.
Tale of the Nine Tailed: Everything you could ask for in a fantasy drama. For me, it was perfect and it made me cry like a baby. I made a review on the finale. I actually liked that he got his powers back at the end. Also, the main couple was the most functional couple I saw this year in kdramas. Which is crazy if you take into acount that he wasn’t human and both had a lot of pain and traumas from their pasts. Which shows that communication and trust is key to every relationship.
OTP:  THEY LOVED EACH OTHER SO MUCH! AND WERE BOTH HOT. SO HOT FOR EACH OTHER. I kinda ship the actors now lol
Thing I enjoyed the most: Jiah, Yeon and Rang. The romance and the relationship between Rang and Yeon, which is what actually made me cry in the end. But we all knew it was coming.
Do I recommend it? Hell Yeah. Might not be for everyone, but if you like fantasy and romance, one heavily connected with the other, and the reincarnated lovers trope which I adore! then this is your drama.
Honorable Mentions:
You know, they almost made it. But something held me back. Still, it didn’t feel right to put them with the other dramas. So they got an honorable mention with my favorite ones.
Tumblr media
Itaewon Class: This was, in general, a tragedy. But I loved it. Ooops. Dude was only stopping a classmate from bullying another and got his whole life ruined: got expelled, his dad was killed, he went to jail and had to start from the bottom and reached the top all thanks to one special and unique young girl. My eyes were full of tears when he finally got his happiness at the end and justice for his dad. Plus, it deals with a few topics that are still taboo in Korea. And the whole world tbh
OTP: SLOW BURN. Super slow lol For a moment there, I thought they weren’t going to be endgame, but they were and I WAS THE HAPPIEST.
Thing I enjoyed the most: Park Saeroyi and Yiseo. And the acting from the whole cast, actually. They did a really good job.
Do I recommend it? Yes. My brother hadn’t seen a kdrama in years and he saw this one. He enjoyed it greatly. I don’t know why I say this as if my brother were some kind of point of reference or expert in kdramas, but y’all need to trust me when I say this is impressive hahaha.
Into the Ring: This woman only wanted a job that could give her stability and a good pay check because her family was in huge debt. She ended up becoming a district representative that learned the real hard way a good person cannot live peacefully among politicians. She got the hell out of there in the end, thank God. Sera was a great heroine that really deserves to be called that. Loved her so much.
OTP: A super cute one that defied gender stereotypes in a delightful way. He was HER secretary at one point!
Thing I enjoyed the most: Listen, everything. It was really well done. I binged it in 2 weekends. I regret not doing a final review about it, but I just couldn’t find the time and if I do one now, it’s not gonna make the drama justice because I’m sure I’ll miss details. I did make 2 big posts about the sismance and romance.
Do I recommend it? YEP. Go see it now lol
Do you like Brahms?: Most people complained about the leads being way too depressed and miserable in the last third of the drama. I didn’t mind that, because you see, it’s what you’d expect from a melodrama lol What did leave this drama out of my favorites is the reason why they were so miserable in the first place and the 2 never actually had a long and meaningful conversation about their problems as individuals and about their relationship and it was SO needed. It was literally their thing at the start of the drama: the way they could be open with each other and communicate so damn well. But that was nowhere to be seen in the end. Still, they had a happy ending and after all that suffering, I appreciated that. I made posts about each ep. Here is the post about the last one.
OTP: Two introverts that kissed on a music room for the first time AND made out on a piano. ON THE PIANO, Y’ALL!! *fans self*
Thing I enjoyed the most: The leads. The only TWO decent people (and friends), everyone else was an awful person. Oh, and the team leader. Such a great lady!
Do I recommend it? OMG Yes? It’s hard to say it but I try to judge the drama overall and how in love I was for the most part rather than how much it frustrated me in the last few eps. If you want to watch a melo with classical music that instead of healing makes you sadder, a love hexagon that makes you want to kill secondary characters and an OTP that gets their HEA despite all that, this is your drama.
Tumblr media
Live On: This is a last minute addition, but given the fact that it will air the last ep on the first week of 2021, it kinda technically counts as this year’s. And I do love it. A mini drama about high schoolers. Here’s my post about the first ep and about the most recent one (with spoilers) It’s just a really well done, romantic, cute and fun with touch of mystery, coming of age story.
OTP: The most popular girl in high school and the smart president of the broadcasting club. Started as strangers, then went on to disliking each other, became friends and then liked each other. Also, ML is quite straightforward and flirtily honest lol
Thing I enjoyed the most: How short it is and the pace of the story. The main couple and the way the mystery was written, not a lot so it’d make the whole drama just about that, but enough to make an interesting backstory that sets FL on her journey and in the process, brings the six main characters together.TW: the whole mystery revolves around bullying.
Do I recommend it? If you like high school romances, YES. It’s only 8 eps long! You can binge it on a saturday or a sunday and I assure you it won’t be a waste of time. Kinda wish I could erase it all from my mind so that I could experience the whole story right away. I envy those who can binge it.

Chae’s childhood
Tumblr media
*this would be a little more serious than the next parts of her life so putting it out there*
warnings: mentions of abuse, killing, depression, physical and emotional abuse (i don’t if there’s more please read with caution)
Parents: Min Sun-ah and Park Seong-hun
Both of them are very well known dancers in S. Korea
Sun-ah is also a neurologist
They divorced when Chae was 2 years old because they fell out of love and Sun-ah thought her husband cheated on her
but he didn’t. They just fell out of love
Sun-ah then met her boyfriend Yong-su who is also a dancer
They raised her pretty well
Chae started dancing when she was 2
Sun-ah and Yong-su helping her out
Mainly Yong-su since Sun-ah was busy with the hospital
Their family was really close to the Lee’s aka Donghae’s family because they were right next to each other
The Lee’s even letting Chae sleep in their house for fun
Sometimes even have Donghae and Chae farm
Reason why they’re so close
Everything was fine until Yong-su eventually got into gambling and alcohol
That’s when he started physically discipling Chae even in the littlest things like messing up choreography
Chae, being a very talk-balk person talk-balked at him every time he hurt her
But he would only get madder
He became more abusive to her and her mother, hurting her mother if she didn’t give him money for alcohol
His abusive act towards Chae became much more harsher, every day she would get a new bruise or cut
Sun-ah couldn’t do anything because he threatened to kill Chae if she does anything
Chae took all of those beatings every day while still having to go to school
Donghae would notice her bruises but she would brush him off, not wanting him to get involved scared that he might get hurt
When she got to school, there were times where she would encounter her fellow schoolmates getting bullied
And of course she can’t just ignore it
So she’d get into fights trying to defend them
And what comes with fights? Principal’s office
Yong-su would get called into the principal’s office so much
He wouldn’t care though
He was actually surprised to see Chae still being able to fight in her state
When they get home, he would discipline her much more harsh
Every time Chae cries she would get hit harder
That’s where she developed her phobia of crying
Every time she would cry, she would see visions of her stepfather hurting her
Her mother felt very sorry
Each time she went back home Chae would have sometimes have blood in her legs, hands and face
She helped her in treating her bruises
They felt sorry for each other. Both of them were abused
That’s why Chae created Impulse dance crew when she was 12
And also why she joined multiple sports
So she could stay away from home
She’s the leader of Impulse dance crew, with the three core member: her, Donghae and Jihoon
Impulse dance crew is for another part
Back to her family, when Chae turned 10 she was forced to work in Seoul because Yong-su had made Sun-ah quit her job
Chae worked 4 jobs back to back and went back to mokpo from seoul until she debuted
4 jobs because she was still young and she could only do jobs in cafes and restaurant like washing dishes and preparing ingredients
Donghae noticed this and that’s only time Chae had told him about what happened to her family
He became protective of her
But he was still a child
One time while Chae was home, a small child came to her house looking for her this was in 1999
That’s when she found Changmin
Changmin, her half-sibling showed her their father who was on his death bed because of stage 3 cancer
Adding onto her responsibilities, She took care of Changmin becoming his noona despite being tired
Having her salary divided into her family and Changmin
Sun-ah helped her daughter as much as she could
But she only did as much to protect her daughter
Sun-ah had given Chae the keys to her small house in seoul, wanting her to stay there.
While in working in Seoul, she was scouted multiple times
But she always declined not wanting to have more work to do
SM scouting her first, then YG, then SM again, and finally Lee Soo Man when she was buying food for Changmin in a street cart
She eventually accepted LSM’s offer
And was given a different contact
Because she had school, training for SM, sports and dance for Impulse, she never was home
Letting her rest from the continuous abuse that her stepfather did to her
But her mother was the one that got abused
Chae felt depressed about her life
Especially because of how her mother is getting hurt by her own boyfriend
On her fifth year of being a trainee (2003), she was called by her stepfather back home
She heard her mother scream bloody murder in the phone call
Making her ditch training and run back home
The last sight making breaking her into a millions pieces
She went home seeing her mother tied into a chair while Yong-su kills her slowly
Chae not being able to do anything because of the gun pointed at her by her psycho stepfather
Having exchanged i love you’s with her mother, Sun-ah dies without seeing her daughter’s future
Yong-su killing himself right after Sun-ah died
Chae had fallen
She stayed in the house while crying one last time
They were found by Donghae’s father next door when he heard a gun shot go off
Ever since then Chae became broken
She never became happy
She had no one beside Changmin
Chae moved out of the house and moved to her mother’s house in seoul  with Changmin
During the funeral and the destruction of her home in Mokpo, she saw one box by her room
Inside of that box was letters from her mother during the time Chae was in seoul to work
Not only that, letters from Yong-su were also there
Asking for forgiveness
Chae had never made peace with him not until 2007 where she got the strength to forgive him and finally get peace
Her childhood became one of the biggest reasons why Chae is so disciplined, fearless and fragile
She never talked about it, only once
and that one time was enough for the fans to understand her story and why she never cried
She had only told this story to her members once, making them extremely protective of her
Its always been a mystery how she can smile and be happy in front of cameras while still bearing the pain
But when she learned to make peace, she became much more happier with herself but the pain never left her
Chae’s broken self slowly being healed back by her members and brother

CHAPTER 2: THE GIRL THAT GOT AWAY
2015 Almost a year after the whole thing that happened during the CF shooting, she thought she would be okay, that she would be able to move on. She was wrong. It remained fresh in her mind. The way she just disappeared without saying anything. The way she knew he got something to tell her, his expression & sincerity. She knew for a fact that he might also felt the same thing as her. She wasn’t blind and she wasn’t an oblivious kind of person. She could really see how he tensed whenever she came close & how he was panicking inside. Whatever ‘thing’ they had at that moment, was real.   She couldn’t erase him from her mind when every time she turned on the TV, he would always appear. He was indeed the Hallyu Star. In the past months, she was living in guilt. She tried so hard to ignore but miserably failed. She had reasons for that. She did it for her, for him, for both of them. If she didn’t do what she was supposed to do, it would have gotten a lot of worse.
When the CF was first released, she couldn’t watch it, she changed the channel, she still didn’t have the guts. Plus, the fact that people were labelling her as ‘Kim Soo Hyun’s girl’ didn’t help at all. In fact, she even saw malicious comments of her online, how she wasn’t suitable for him & that he deserved better. Some people were making fun of her voice, they were literally bringing her down. Her self-esteem was gone. The price she had to pay when being paired with someone like him. Fortunately, despite all that, she still received supporting & encouraging messages from her family & friends. Yeo Jin Goo was included. Her once annoyingly cute fellow co-star or more like a dongsaeng. She remembered that night when she received a call from him: “Noona! Noona! Noona! I saw the CF!!”, she could literally imagine him at that moment, he would be jumping in joy. Definitely. “Noona!! Your wish came true!! I‘m so happy for you. You guys look astonishingly beautiful. Visuals!! I miss my Hyung, too! He looks like he doesn’t age since Lee Hwon”, he chuckled. He knew. Yeo Jin Goo knew about her big fat crush on Kim Soo Hyun back in their Potato Star days. He was the one that she referred to whenever she was curious about him & the fact that Jin Goo was once worked closely with her crush really made her on cloud nine! She stayed silent. “Noona? Are you there? Is everything okay?” “Jin Goo-yah! I think, I think…” she held back her tears. She didn’t want to cry. She had been holding on for so long. She couldn’t be crying now. “Is it about him?” Him. It took only one word that broke her. She cried so hard then & there. Thank god she was alone. She finally let it all out. Out from her system. She didn’t know why but the moment she took the call, she was at her lowest point. Everything was overwhelming. The malicious comments about her were too much for her to handle including the fact that the guilt she had been carrying was still affecting her emotionally. She knew she was supposed to be happy. This was one of her biggest achievements ever since she started her career. “Wae-yo, noona? Uljima….”, he persuaded. “You know you can always talk to me, oh?” Flashback “Sure, give me a moment as I have to talk to my manager first!” said her. She hurriedly walking towards her manager at the car park, she was very excited until she saw two suspicious men with cameras hid behind the pillar. She even made eye-contacts with them & CLICK! She was shocked & traumatized of being secretly photographed by some strangers. She was still new for all this stuff, being followed by paparazzi, being secretly photographed. It was very unfamiliar for her. She knew where this was going & why those people were there. Dispatch. No one in the Korea wouldn’t know about Dispatch & how they liked intruding the celebrities’ private lives and made money from it. At that moment, she contemplated whether to go or not to go back to him. Her reputation might be at stake, she was just about to spread her wings. She couldn’t be trampled before she even started. She quickly when straight to her manager & informed of what just happened. “Oppa, chakaman…chakaman.. jaebal”, she begged. “Hajima, Yea-Ji ah! Listen to me now or you’ll forever regret. He isn’t like us and you know that! He has always been at the highest level. I don’t want you to get hurt”, he explained. “Yea-Ji ah, I know. I understand. I saw the whole thing throughout the shooting. Heck, even all the staffs and pd-nim noticed it! They just acted like they didn’t know anything! Don’t make things worse, just please” Her manager was right. He has always been so far to reach. She sighed heavily. Her eyes brimmed with tears. She was torn apart. She just couldn’t leave him like that, not when she promised to come back. “We better get going now, yea-ji ah! Kaja! No worries, you guys probably won’t be crossing each other’s path anymore” She looked behind for the last time, wishing that he would understand. She didn’t abandon him, the circumstances forced her to. “Mianhae, sunbae-nim” Then, she left. with her heavy heart. Flashback ends
“I regret it so much, Jin-Goo yah! I wish I didn’t leave him like that, I should have informed him first. I… I just wish we had a proper closure.”, she said while still crying.
“Noona…….”, he was also sharing the pain with her. The last thing he would ever want to happen to his noona was this. He knew how strong & cheerful his noona was. If she was in this kind of state, this would mean that she was breaking, into million of pieces. “I was…scared, honestly. It still pains me whenever I think of how sincere he was that time. How could I? I should have known this was bound to happen. He was Kim-Soo Hyun afterall. I wish I could take back my wish. What did I expect, really? Jin-Goo yah, ottoke?” she sobbed. “I know, I understand. You did the right thing, noona! Stop blaming yourself. It hurts hearing you like this. I’m pretty much sure if he knows about it, he would understand. I know my hyung. Now, I want you to calm yourself down, wash your face & go straight to bed! No more thinking! Don’t even bother about those comments! Yes, I know! I saw it too. Just ignore them!! Arasso?” “Ara, I’ll try. Jin-Goo yah, gomawo. For listening, for advising your noona. You’re my best dongsaeng, ever. Meet up soon, yeah?” “De noona, chalja!” She ended up the call with a relief. She felt like the burden was half gone after the heart-to-heart session with her favourite dongsaeng. Looking out from her window, immersed in her own thoughts & feelings. She looked up to the sky, the moon shined so bright along with the stars. It was beautiful. The first time ever that she felt like the moon was extraordinary beautiful, at least after the incident. It gave her hope. Hope to move on from the past. She was determined to start fresh and work even harder. To make people acknowledge her as herself and not anyone’s girl, to show them her own talent in acting, to ensure that no one could bring her down anymore. No one. She went to clean up after herself and went to bed with a smile on her face. A new day for her. Everything went smoothly. She had been booked and busy for the past weeks. She got quite number of offers for her next projects including drama, CFs, magazine pictorials and she was now with a new agency, King Entertainment. For some reason, that ‘controversial’ CF was like a door of opportunities for her. The CF was famous all over Korea and the reason for that was probably because of him. She couldn’t deny the fact that his popularity was like a small booster for her career and she was forever grateful for it. Though she hoped that she could still personally thank him. Later that year, she was asked to be one of the presenters for the prestigious drama award that usually would happen on New Year’s Eve. Her agency had been preparing this & that including a new dress for her to wear on that night. It was a long & slim yellow dress that perfectly suit her.
Nervous was such an understatement. She was having mixed emotions knowing that it would be her very first time to appear live on stage with a lot of audiences. She was so nervous that for a moment there, she forgot about him being one of the nominees.
“Annyeonghasaeyo, Seo Yea-Ji imnida” she smiled. She was finally on stage together with her partner for the night. She witnessed a sea of people in front of her, cheering & clapping their hands. It was truly a spectacular night. Her very first experience.
While the partner was introducing himself, her eyes were roaming around the place and suddenly she felt the time has stopped for her when she saw him. There, he was. At the centre of the room. For the longest time she hadn’t seen him in person, he still looked the same. In fact, he looked too good in that suit & tie with his famous ‘exposed forehead’. Devilishly handsome that she bet all girls would be swooning over him.
Reality just hit her like a truck. Worst thing happened when she accidentally made a milli-second of eye contact with him. It was intense. His gaze was very intense that she shivered inside. At this very moment, she thanked god that she pursued to be an actress. It was a critical time for her to act calm and followed the plan accordingly. The whole time she was on stage, she could feel someone was literally burned a hole on her face. She could feel herself being awkwardly stiff. Physically she looked fine, but God knows she was battling inside. Nevertheless, she still managed to smile and practically looked everywhere but that. That specific table. She didn’t know why but she knew that it was going to be a long night.
  2015; The Same Night
“Soo Hyun-ah, she will be there”, said Ryu calmly. Ryu was aware of her presence in the Award night since the very first day, yet he only decided to tell him two days before the event. He secretly took the time to gather some info about her whereabouts and the fact that he had a trusted cable in her agency really made his job easier. He was doing it not for himself but for his favourite ‘dongsaeng’. Since then, Soo Hyun had been waiting for the night to come. The same night where he was nominated for a few categories. After almost a year, he was not truly himself. He frequently found himself spaced out on daily basis. One of the things that kept him going was because of his hectic schedule for the shooting of ‘The Producer’. At least, it helped to distract himself from thinking about her so much. He still wondered how an ordinary girl can leave a big impact on him, it didn’t even take months of shooting, they merely spent one whole day together, but it was more than enough to make him feel this way. In a way that he couldn’t understand. The only way he kept himself updated about her was by watching any of her CF(s) that appeared on the TV or he would buy magazines that featured her in it and even bought any products and brands that she endorsed. Sometimes, he would go online to check on her updates. Though it wasn’t much but at least he was happy. His heart was full for a second.
Truth be told, he knew he had the power to just ask around for her number or even to meet her personally, but he stopped himself from doing so. Ryu even volunteered to help. He was firm with his decision. He didn’t want to force on things. He had faith. He believed in destiny. If he really meant to meet her again, he would.
Destiny.
He was right, all along. Destiny seemed to be on his side when he finally saw her on stage, looking drop dead gorgeous. She looked absolutely stunning in yellow. She was the same girl that made his heart skipped a beat. The girl that got away. “Goddamn it! She is definitely god’s favourite” he murmured silently.
He couldn’t take his eyes off her. Not even for a second. She just stood there on the stage did nothing but managed to make him feel giddy inside. He felt butterflies in his stomach. He felt the same as how he did last year, when he first saw her. He was out of breath. He wasn’t normal at all. That very moment, he knew what he had to do. How he wanted to finish whatever that was supposed to be done before. The situation worsened when she accidentally locked her eyes on his. He felt that. He saw how her face flushed, just like when he had to do the almost-kiss scene back then. She broke their milli-seconds of eye-contact first, yet he still didn’t. He knew she could feel how his gaze was burning a hole on her face. He didn’t care, he was still mesmerized by her beauty & most importantly, he missed her.
So much. Her smile. Her voice. Everything about her. There were no words that could describe his feeling.
He only broke his gaze away when he felt that one of the cameras was focusing on him. He stayed calm as usual, like nothing happened. He was the best actor, after all. Years of experiences in the past didn’t fail him. The prestigious night almost came to an end when they started counting the New Year’s countdown. He was still on stage after receiving the ‘daesang’ award. The most significant award in the industry. He couldn’t be more grateful that he cried during his acceptance speech. It meant a lot for him to receive the award. It was an honour. “10…9…8….7….6”, he counted while closing his eyes and mentally prayed for his New Year’s wishes. “To be a better actor in future that would never disappoint my fans after all the continuous supports that I’ve received, to always be a devoted son to my mom, to be able to donate more for the people in need..” “and most importantly, to have her, in my life. God please. Make all of this come true”, he pleaded silently. “…5…4….3…2….1”
“Happy New Year!!!!”, said the MCs to all the people who were there.
He opened his eyes when he could also hear the fireworks from the outside, people were greeting and hugging each other as well. He bowed once again to the audiences while wishing them a Happy New Year. A certain person was still on his mind, he had yet to finish his mission. He was in hurry. He wouldn’t want to waste this chance again, that could probably be the last time for him. He straightaway went down the stage and to the back. People were starting to disperse. He walked quickly but at the same time without making it obvious that he was looking for somebody. He bumped into Ryu and explained to him. Ryu just nodded and understood, Ryu was also prepared to cover up for him just in case if there would be any unforeseen incidents. For all they knew, the reporters might be somewhere hiding in this same building or they could even be in disguise. He checked every room that he passed by including washrooms, but she was nowhere to be found. He was started panicking, he was worried that he could have missed her, again. “jaebal…...jaebal…. Yea-Ji ah, jigeum odiya?”, he sighed heavily. Few minutes later, he came across this one isolated room in the corner that he thought it was an empty store. He was wrong. He could see the lights under the door from the room, it looked like there was somebody inside. He slowly came closer to the door and his hand already reached for the handle when the door suddenly being opened from inside. He was shocked and instantly froze. “Omooo!! mianhae”, she politely bowed and apologised without still knowing who he was. She gasped when she finally saw him. “S……s… sunbae-nim, annyeonghaseyo, it’s been awhile”, she greeted. “Oh, Yea-Ji ssi, annyeonghaseyo. It’s good to see you again”, he smiled. He could see how she would avoid making eye contacts with him.  She was nervous and that made her look adorable. Somehow, it was understandable as to why she acted that way. He came without any prior notice. He just bulldozed his way to her. He didn’t care anymore. This time around, she was in much more comfy clothes now. She was probably had get them changed and ready to go back. She still looked beautiful, nevertheless. Casual clothes or not, nothing that would change her beauty. He was grateful that he wasn’t late. He was right on time. A perfect timing. “Ahh..de. Same here. Sunbae-nim, why…. are you here? Is there…is there… something that I could help with? Oh and, congratulations for winning the…the…daesang, yeah”, she smiled though she was a bit stuttered at first, he could still see her sincerity. It warmed his heart. “Yea-Ji ah, stop smiling to me like that. You are torturing me”, he thought silently. “Oh!”, he cleared his throat. “Right, kamsahamnida, Yea-Ji ssi. I actually have a few things to say but it seems like you were in rush. Hence, can I just ask you three simple things, if you don’t mind?”, he continued. “Sure, what is it? I will see what I can do”. “I know I should have asked this first back then, but I was too late. So, can…we…be...friends? Like the others? Like normal friends?”, he genuinely asked. “Oh, that…..”, she stopped when he interfered. “Second, can I have your…number? So that it will be easy for us to catch up like how usually friends do”, he then continued with, “Last but not least, can you drop the formality whenever we are together?”, his sudden panic when he realized the word together sounded very… wrong. He didn’t know what was happening to himself, he was nervous that all of his words were upside down. The man that gave the warm & touching speech on stage just now was long gone. She was truly his weakness, his downfall. “No!! Wait! That’s not what I meant!! Not together, as in ‘together’ but basically when we’re just casually talking like this….Is that..okay?”, he then stopped, waiting for her answers. He was crazily nervous to hear for her response especially seeing her stayed awfully silent. He was fully prepared to be rejected. He knew he couldn’t simply force her to agree. At least, he finally had the chance to finish his mission. Long overdue mission. To be able to let finally let it all out, he felt so much ease. No regrets. Before she could even start answering, her manager came. “Yea-Ji ah, let’s go!”. “Oh, you had a guest! Annyeonghaseyo, Kim-Soo Hyun ssi.”, he greeted. “Annyeonghaseyo, manager-nim. Sorry for disturbing her”, Soo Hyun apologised. “Ahh, that’s okay. I’ve heard a lot about you.”, he smiled suspiciously. “But we are truly sorry Soo Hyun ssi, it’s late now, can we make a move? Or you guys haven’t finished?”, he added. “No, we already are. I was about to go, too” “Well then, Yea-Ji ah, kaja! See you later, Soo-Hyun ssi!” He saw her packed her things on that dressing table and ready to go. She walked past him & suddenly leaned closer to his ear, “De, oppa. Let’s be friends.” and she put a small piece of paper on his hand. He was holding his breath the whole time she was that close to him. “Damn, she was a flirt. That was…hot”, he was definitely awestruck by her. Never in a million years he would ever think to get to see this side of her. She smirked and left. “Text me!” with a smiley emoticon, was what written on the paper together with her number. He thought winning the daesang was the biggest achievement tonight, he definitely didn’t see this coming. That, most significant thing that he won tonight was merely some digits number that he was currently holding. Truly, it was the best night ever for him. It was the night that they met again. When two souls reconnected. [To be Continued]
